I WAS DRIVING THE CROSSFIRE ONE EVENING AND IT SHUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET, I ALMOST GOT REAR ENDED. ALL OF A SUDDEN THE ENGINE SHUT OFF, THE EXTERIOR AND INTERIOR LIGHTS WENT OFF AS WELL. THE CAR ROLLED TO A STOP BLOCKING ALL THE TRAFFIC BEHIND ME. I TRIED TO RESTART THE ENGINE AND NOTHING HAPPENED, I HAD TO HAVE THE CAR JUMP STARTED, WHICH TOOK SEVERAL ATTEMPTS. I HAD NO PROBLEMS OR INDICATIONS THAT ANYTHING WAS WRONG TILL THIS HAPPENED. MECHANICS HAVE PUT IN A NEW BATTERY, A CRANK POSITION SENSOR, AND A CAM POSITION SENSOR ON THE CAR. IT STARTED ONCE AFTER THAT, RAN FOR A FEW MINUTES THEN STOPPED. AFTER THAT IT WON'T START, EVEN WHEN BEING JUMPED. TRYING TO GET A ECM FROM THE DEALER. DEALER SAID THE COST IS $2,700.00, AND ORDERS ARE PENDING UNTIL JULY 1, 2019 BECAUSE OF SUPPLIER CHANGE. PLUS THERE IS A FLASHING CHARGE OF $147.00 TO RESET THIS ITEM FOR THE CAR. OTHER INTERNET USERS HAVE REPORTED HAVING THEIR CARS SUDDENLY STOP RUNNING WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAYS ALSO.

THIS 2006 CROSSFIRE ROADSTER IS GARAGE KEPT. THE CAR WAS PARKED, WHEN THE GLASS SEPARATED ON THREE SIDES FROM THE CLOTH CONVERTIBLE TOP. FAILURE OF THE REAR WINDOW GLASS APPEARS TO BE DUE TO LACK OF ATTACHMENT, OTHER THAN ADHESIVE GLUE. THE CLOTH CONVERTIBLE TOP IS IN GOOD CONDITION. THIS POSES A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY HAZARD TO THE PUBLIC, CONSIDERING THE VEHICLE IS RATED AT SPEEDS IN EXCESS OF 150 MPH. IT APPEARS THAT CHRYSLER HAS RECALLED SOME 2005 MODELS WHICH HAVE THE SAME TYPE CONVERTIBLE TOPS AND GLASS WINDOWS, MADE BY KARMANN. AS THE SAFETY ISSUES CONTINUE I WOULD HOPE THAT CHRYSLER WOULD RECALL ALL OF THESE DEFECTIVE PARTS BEFORE THE PUBLIC IS SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED. I AWAIT AN URGENT RESPONSE FROM CHRYSLER TO FIX THIS HAZARDOUS PROBLEM ME. WE BOUGHT THIS CAR IN 2008 AND IS KEPT IN A GARAGE. I ONLY HAVE 53000 MILES ON IT. I KNOW THEY HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE WINDOWS FALLING OUT BECAUSE THEY A FIXING THEM IN 2005 MODELS BUT NOT THE 2006 MODELS. IS THERE ANY THING I CAN DO BECAUSE A REPLACEMENT TOP IS VERY EXPENSIVE. I OWN A 2006 CHRYSLER CROSSFIRE. MY BACK WINDOW IS FALLING OUT AND IT SEEMS THAT CHRYSLER DOES NOT WANT TO TAKE OWNERSHIP OF THE FAULTY ADHESIVE AND FAULTY WORKMANSHIP OF THE CONVERTIBLE TOP. I CANNOT DRIVE MY CAR BECAUSE THE GLASS WILL COME OUT AND RESULT IN HITTING ANOTHER VEHICLE, PEDESTRIAN OR OTHER OBJECT. THIS PROBLEM HAS LEFT THOUSANDS OF CROSSFIRE OWNERS IN A BAD SITUATION. CHRYSLER DID ISSUE A RECALL ON THE 2005'S UNDER TSB 23-035-11REVA BUT NOT FOR ANY OTHER MODEL YEARS. STATE FARM INSURANCE INFORMED ME THE SAME TOP/MANUFACTURER/ADHESIVE IS USED ON ALL CROSSFIRE MODEL YEARS THEREFORE IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER AN INSURANCE CLAIM. I'VE DRIVEN MY CAR 3 TIMES SINCE NOTICING THE WINDOW AND THE PROBLEM CONTINUES TO GET WORSE; BECOMING MORE AND MORE OF A SAFETY ISSUE. I WANT TO KNOW WHEN CHRYSLER WILL BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF ALL OF THE FAULTY EQUIPMENT THEY MARKETED AND SOLD TO TRUSTING CONSUMER. I AM ASKING THE NHTSA TO FORCE THE RECALL ON ALL CROSSFIRE CONVERTIBLE TOPS, NO MATTER WHAT YEAR THEY WERE MANUFACTURED OR WHERE THEY SHIPPED. FAULTY EQUIPMENT IS FAULTY EQUIPMENT AND THE PROBLEM NEEDS TO RECTIFIED BY THE MANUFACTURER. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THE REAR WINDOW IS HEAT SEALED TO THE COVER. ONLY THE TOP PORTION REMAINS SEALED, THE SIDES AND BOTTOM HAVE SEPARATED. I HAVE BEEN WORKING WITH A CHRYSLER CASE WORKER FOR A MONTH TRYING TO GET THE COMPANY TO REPAIR OR REPLACE THE TOP BUT ONLY GET EMAILS ABOUT ONCE A WEEK REQUESTING THE SAME INFORMATION I HAVE ALREADY PROVIDED. I HAVE BEEN TOLD MY LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP IS NO LONGER A "QUALIFIED DEALERSHIP" WITH NO FURTHER EXPLANATION. I HAVE ASKED FOR A PERSONAL PHONE CALL BUT TO NO AVAIL AT THIS POINT. THIS IS A DEFINITE SAFETY HAZARD AND I WANT THE COMPANY TO STEP UP AND FIX IT.

REAR GLASS WINDOW ADHESIVE FAILED AND WNDOW IS FALLING OUT. GLASS WINDOW ON CONVERTABLE ROOF IS SEPARATING FROM VINAL. THE WINDOW WILL EVENTIALLY FALL OUT COMPLETELY CAUSING UNSAFE CONDITIONS. CALLED CHRYSLER AND WAS TOLD NO WARRANTY OR RECALL AND THAT WHOLE CONVERTABLE TOP WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED FOR APPROX $2000. THE CAR IS ALWAYS IN A GARAGE AND HAS VERY FEW MILES. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A POOR DESIGN. WINDOW COULD FALL OUT AND CAUSE SEVERE DAMAGE OR ACCIDENT.

REAR GLASS WINDOW FALLING OUT OF 2006 CHRYSLER CROSSFIRE CONVERTABLE. THE CORNERS OF THE REAR WINDOW STARTED TO SEPARATE FROM THE ROOF MATERIAL. AFTER PUTTING THE TOP DOWN AND PUTTING IT BACK UP, MOST OF THE TOP AND CORNERS OF THE REAR WINDOW WERE LOOSE FROM THE ROOF FABRIC, I CALLED THE CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP TO FIND OUT HOW IT COULD BE REPAIRED. THEY TOLD ME THAT A NEW CONVERTIBLE TOP WOULD BE NEEDED. IT COULD NOT BE REPAIRED. CHRYSLER DEALER QUOTED $1,650 FOR THE TOP AND $1,000 FOR LABOR

I TOOK THE CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT EVEN THOUGH THE 2005 CROSSFIRE ROADSTER WAS COVERED FOR THE SAME PROBLEM THEY WERE NOT COVERING THE 2006. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER DIRECTLY IN JULY OF 2014 THEY TOLD ME THE SAME THING. I THEN HAD TO MAKE A TEMPORARY REPAIR FOR $ 150 AND IN SEPTEMBER 2014 HAD TO REPLACE THE TOP FOR $ 2,457.62 AT A SHOP RECOMMENDED BY THE CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP. SO I AM OUT OF POCKET $ 2,607. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER AGAIN LAST WEEK 5 23 2015 AND THEY REPLIED THAT SINCE MY VEHICLE WAS NOT BUILT IN 2005 THEY WERE STILL NOT COVERING IT. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM EXPERIENCED BY NUMEROUS DRIVERS. IF THIS WINDOW WERE TO COME OUT WHILE DRIVING IT COULD SERIOUSLY INJURE OR KILL A PEDESTRIAN OR OTHER DRIVER. CHRYSLER HAS COVERED THE 2005 FOR THIS PROBLEM BUT NOT LATER MODELS. YOU WILL SEE OVER 20 COMPLAINTS ON THE SAFECAR.GOV SITE FROM OTHER DRIVERS WITH THE SAME COMPLAINT SAME MODEL AND YEAR. THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ALL OVER THE WEB ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM. I GUESS CHRYSLER AND THE GOVERNMENT WANTS TO WAIT UNTIL PEOPLE ARE KILLED BEFORE ACTING.

IF THE WINDOW WOULD HAVE COMPLETELY DISLODGED IT WOULD HAVE SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED ANYONE TRAVELING BEHIND ME. HOWEVER, AFTER CONTACTING CHRYSLER AND TALKING TO [XXX] ID [XXX] I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THAT CHRYSLER WOULD DO ABOUT IT BECAUSE THE BULLETIN REFERS TO 2005 MODELS. I TOLD HER TO ESCALATE THE COMPLAINT AND LATER I'VE GOT A CALL FROM A [XXX] PRETENDING SHE WAS A SUPERVISOR AND TOLD ME THAT SHE NEVER HEARD OF ANY REAR WINDOWS SEPARATING FROM THE CLOTH CONVERTIBLE TOP. I EXPLAINED TO HER THAT THIS IS A FACTORY DEFECT AND THERE ARE HUNDREDS IF NOT THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE WITH THE SAME ISSUE, COMPLAINING ALL OVER THE INTERNET ABOUT IT, BUT SHE REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. WITH SO MANY PEOPLE EXPERIENCING THIS PROBLEM WITHOUT A SUITABLE RESPONSE OR SOLUTION TO ITS CONSUMER, THIS HAS BECOME A SERIOUS PROBLEM, A DEFECT THAT MUST BE RESOLVED AND THE CARS SHOULD BE RECALLED. THE POTENTIAL TO ENDANGER LIVES FAR OUTWEIGHS ANY OTHER CONSIDERATION. WHEN SOMEONE BUYS A CONVERTIBLE, ONE DOESN'T EXPECT TO BE DRIVING ALONG AND THE GLASS COMES FLYING DOWN AND OUT. IT'S NOT SAFE! THE ONLY REPAIR SOLUTION IS THE ENTIRE TOP MUST BE REPLACED (COSTING UPWARDS OF $2100) DUE TO NO NEGLIGENCE OF THE CONSUMER. IF I HAVE READ THESE COMPLAINTS, I'M CERTAIN THAT CHRYSLER HAS AS WELL.
