MY COMPLAINT IS PRINCIPALLY THAT LAND ROVER WILL NOT SYMPATHIZE WITH ME ON THE FACT THAT BECAUSE OF SUCH A SAFETY HAZARD THAT THEIR RELEVANT RECALLS SHOULD EXTEND UNTIL THE SYSTEM IS FIXED PROPERLY AND NOT JUST UNTIL THE WARENTEE IS OVER.

2006 LR3 WITH ONLY 93K MILES HAD THE TIMING CHAIN BREAK WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE ENGINE IMMEDIATELY SHUT DOWN. THE VEHICLE HAS A FULL SERVICE HISTORY AT AN AUTHORIZED LAND ROVER DEALER SHOWING RECOMMENDED MAINTENANCE HAS BEEN PERFORMED DURING THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE. THE DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE (VALVES ETC.) IS ESTIMATED AT $5500 TO REPAIR. THE TIMING CHAIN IS MADE OF METAL AND BASED ON INDUSTRY EXPERTISE IS NOT SUPPOSED TO BREAK FOR THE LIFE OF THE ENGINE OR PAST 200,000+ MILES. RESEARCH ONLINE SHOWS THIS HAS HAPPENED TO OTHER LR3 OWNERS WITH VEHICLES WITH LESS THAN 100K MILES. BASED UPON THE EXPECTATIONS FOR THE LIFESPAN OF A TIMING CHAIN AND OTHER SIMILAR INCIDENTS, I BELIEVE THERE MAY BE A DEFECTIVE PART ON THIS VEHICLE ASSOCIATED WITH THE TIMING CHAIN AND IT'S RELATED COMPONENTS. THERE ARE NO MANUFACTURER RECOMMENDED GUIDELINES TO REPLACE THE TIMING CHAIN PRIOR TO 100K MILES AND IT IS EXPECTED TO LAST FAR LONGER THAN 100K MILES BASED UPON NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR FOR THIS VEHICLE. WE HAVE ONLY USED THE VEHICLE US ROADS AS YOU WOULD A TYPICAL AUTOMOBILE (NO OFF-ROADING HOBBIES ETC.) WE ARE PURSUING THIS MATTER WITH LAND ROVER DIRECTLY AND REPORTING THIS AS A SAFETY ISSUE TO ALERT OTHER LR3 OWNERS. *TR

I BEGAN TO NOTICE A RATTLING NOISE COMING FROM UNDERNEATH THE DRIVER'S SIDE, WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED. AFTER A WEEK, THE "SUSPENSION FAULT" LIGHT CAME ON. I WAS TOLD THE SUSPENSION COMPRESSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, SO I WENT AHEAD WITH THE REPAIRS AT A COST OF $1600. WHEN I PICKED UP THE VEHICLE AND TESTED THE SUSPENSION, IT WOULD NOT RAISE INTO OFF ROAD HEIGHT. IT LOWERED FINE, BUT WHEN I PUT IT IN NORMAL HEIGHT, ONLY THE REAR WOULD RAISE. IT ALSO TOOK A LOT LONGER THAN USUAL. I DIDN'T EVEN GET IT OUT OF THE SHOP PARKING LOT BEFORE THE SUSPENSION FAULT LIGHT LIT UP AGAIN. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS PROBLEM ONLINE AND FINDING OUT THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM THAT SOMETIMES TAKES 2 OR 3 ATTEMPTS TO CORRECT, IT'S OBVIOUS THERE'S A DEFECT WITH THE SUSPENSION SYSTEM OR THE ACTUAL COMPRESSOR. EITHER WAY, THIS SHOULD BE COVERED BY LANDROVER. I HOPE THEY DO THE RIGHT THING AND ISSUE A RECALL. *TR

CLEANING OF THESE TUBES IS NOT A REGULAR PART OF MAINTENANCE IF YOU TAKE YOUR VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE OR SERVICE. THE WATER COLLECT AND LEAKS INTO THE CABIN DIRECTLY OVER THE RADIO AND MIDDLE CONSOLE. IT ALSO LEAKS OVER THE DASHBOARD NEAR THE PASSENGER HEAT REGISTER AND IN THE DRIVER'S SIDE DASHBOARD AREA OVER THE HEAT REGISTER. WATER SEEPS INTO THE ELECTRIC SYSTEM (THE MAIN BCM) THAT CONTROLS MANY IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS OF THE VEHICLE OPERATION. SO FAR I HAVE A SHORT IN THE RADIO. MANY OF THE LANDROVER FORUMS ONLINE HAVE SEVERAL CUSTOMERS AND OWNERS OF LANDROVER LR3 THAT HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM. THIS DEFECT IN THE DRAINAGE SYSTEM FOR THE SUNROOF COULD CAUSE SERIOUS DAMAGE / SHORTING OUT OF THE BCM THAT CONTROLS THE ENTIRE VEHICLE. CHECK FOR TRANSMISSION SOFTWARE UPDATE, AS IT INITIALLY SEEMED TO HAVE THE MUST DISCUSSED PROBLEM OF HARSH AND IRREGULAR SHIFTING WHEN ROLLING TO A STOP AND THEN RE-ACCELERATING. THIS PROBLEM HAS CONTINUED INTERMITTANTLY AND NOW THE VEHICLE SOMETIMES DROPS COMPLETELY OUT OF GEAR WHEN SLOWING DOWN OR TURNING. AS WE WERE DRIVING, THE SUSPENSION FAULT LIGHT CAME ON AND IMMEDIATELY WENT OFF. WE THOUGHT IT MAY BE DUE TO THE ROAD CONDITIONS. ABOUT 30 MINUTES LATER, WE STOPPED TO GAS UP AND WHEN WE WERE BACK ON THE ROAD, THE RADIO WOULD NOT WORK. NO SOUND BUT A CRACKING SOUND WAS COMING FROM THE RADIO. AFTER A HOUR, THE RADIO CAME BACK ON. LAST WEEK, I WAS DRIVING AND THE SUSPENSION LIGHT WAS CAME ON AND OFF EVERY 5 OR 10 MINUTES, IT SEEMED. THEN A LOUD CHIME WITH A SUSPENSION FAULT IN RED LETTERS. AT A STOP LIGHT, THE VEHICLE WAS GOING UP AND DOWN LIKE IT HAS A MIND OF ITS OWN. KINDLY OF SPOOKY. OF COURSE, OUR 2006 LR3 IS OUT OF WARRANTY. I CALLED THE DEALER AND IT WILL COST $125 FOR A DIAGNOSIS BUT IT WILL GO TOWARD THE COST OF THE SERVICE WHATEVER IS NEEDED. ALL I SEE IS MAJOR DOLLARS SIGNS DUE TO OUR LAST EXPERIENCE. THE DEALER QUOTED US A COST OF $250 FOR A PROBLEM MY HUSBAND FIXED WITH A $12 FUSE. SO MY HUSBAND WILL NOT TAKE IT BACK TO THE DEALER NOT UNLESS IT IS A MUST.

I BOUGHT A 2006 LR3 ABOUT A YEAR AGO FROM A DEALER IN SOUTH FLORIDA. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 39K MILES ON IT AND LAST WEEK THE SUSPENSION FAULT INDICATOR CAME ON. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER TO HAVE A DIAGNOSTIC AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE SUSPENSION COMPRESSOR IS NOT WORKING. TO REPLACE THE PART IS $1200 BECAUSE THE CAR IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. IF THE COMPRESSOR FAILS, THE SUSPENSION FAILS AND THE TRUCK CAN END UP RIDING ON THE TIRES AT ANY TIME UNTIL THE COMPRESSOR IS FIXED. I SPOKE WITH LAND ROVER NORTH AMERICA AND THEY WILL NOT PAY TO REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE PART. SO NOW I AM STUCK WITH A $1200 REPAIR ON A VEHICLE THAT ONLY HAS 39K MILES. *TR

WE WENT TO THE DEALER 3 DIFFERENT TIMES, FIRST HAVE THE CAR CHECKED, SECOND SPEAK WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER & THIRD WITH THE GENERAL MANAGER. ALL THREE VISITS WE GOT THE SAME ANSWER A SOFTWARE PROBLEM & NO SOLUTION. AS WE CONTINUED TO DO RESEARCH ABOUT OUR SOFTWARE PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET, WE WERE ASTONISHED TO FIND OUT THAT THE ENGINE OF THE LR3 V6 IS A FORD 4.0 & NOT A BMW MOTOR AS THEY USED TO BE. THE MAIN REASON WE BOUGHT THIS CAR WAS BECAUSE OF THE BMW MOTOR THE CAR WAS SUPPOSED TO HAVE. NO ONE AT THE DEALER EVER TOLD US THAT THE LR3 V6 WAS A FORD MOTOR & THE V8 WAS A JAGUAR MOTOR EVENTHOUGH WE ASKED SEVERAL TIMES THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE LR3 V6 & V8. UNTIL NOW THE ENGINE LIGHT WARNING KEEPS COMING ON & OFF & ALSO THE BURNING SMELL COMES OUT OF THE VENTS. THE DEALER DOES NOT HAVE A FIX FOR OUR PROBLEM YET. BECAUSE OF ALL THE PROBLEMS MENTIONED ABOVE WE FEEL THAT THERE HAS BEEN A FRAUD, THE DEALER HAS BEEN SELLING THESE CARS SINCE THE SUMMER OF 2005,IN JAN. 2006 RANGE ROVER / LR3 - 15 MILES ON VEHICLE. EXPERIENCED RAPID ACCELERATION INSTEAD OF BRAKING THREE TIMES THE FIRST TIME WE DROVE THE CAR AFTER TAKING IT HOME. COULD NOT STOP THE CAR WHILE PUSHING HARD ON THE BRAKE WITH BOTH FEET. ENGINE RACED INSTEAD. IT DID SLOW DOWN AT FIRST THEN LUNGED FORWARD THROUGH A STOP SIGN, THEN A STOP LIGHT, ONTO A HIGHWAY ETC. LUCKILY NO CRASHES. AUTO DEALER COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG, NEITHER COULD LAND ROVER. ORDERED ANOTHER NEW VEHICLE, SAME MAKE AND MODEL AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED! DROVE IT 2 HOURS AND THEN IT WOULD NOT STOP FULLY AT A STOP SIGN. IT SPEEDED UP INSTEAD AND RACED ACROSS A HIGHWAY. RETURNED THAT CAR ALSO AND WON'T BUY ANOTHER ONE. DEALER DID REFUND OUR MONEY AND SAID IT WAS A LAND ROVER PROBLEM. MY WIFE AND I WERE IN THE CAR TOGETHER BOTH TIMES. SERVICE DEPT. SUGGESTED I WAS A FAULT BY APPLYING THE GAS AND BRAKE AT THE SAME TIME. SAID THE PEDALS ARE CLOSE TOGETHER. THIS CAR SHOULD BE RECALLED. I BOUGHT TWO OF THEM AND THEY BOTH DID THE SAME THING. WE LUNGED THROUGH AN INTERSECTION ACROSS A HIGHWAY AND FORTUNATELY NO OTHER CARS WERE COMING. WE HAD THIS CAR ALSO TOWED TO THE DEALER. SINCE THE DEALER COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE LAST CAR THAT DID THE SAME THING, THIS TIME THEY WERE QUICKER WITH A REFUND. MY WIFE AND I STILL DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY DID WITH THE VEHICLES, NOR WHAT THE ACTUAL PROBLEM WAS. THE TOW DRIVER OF THE FIRST CAR SAID IT WAS A CRUISE CONTROL PROBLEM. HELLO- I AM NOT POSITIVE IF THIS IS THE EXACT LOCATION TO BE SENDING THIS. I AM A WITNESS TO A DEFECT OR A MALFUNCTION WHILE DRIVING A 5 MONTH OLD 2006 LAND ROVER LR3. WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY IN THE MOUNTAINS OF COLORADO, MY CAR'S BRAKES LOCKED UP WHILE DRIVING AROUND 68 MPH. THIS CAUSED ME TO SKID TO A COMPLETE STOP ON THE HIGHWAY. HOWEVER, WHILE COMING TO A STOP MY SEAT BELT DID NOT ENGAGE, CAUSING ME TO HIT MY HEAD AND TEAR MUSCLES IN MY BACK, WHICH I HAD CHECKED OUT AT THE DOCTOR. AFTER THIS HAPPENED, I WAS STILL AT A COMPLETE STOP ON THE HIGHWAY NOT ALLOWING ME TO DRIVE OR MOVE OUT OF THE WAY FROM ON COMING TRAFFIC. AS THE STATE TROOPER PHRASED IT, YOU ARE VERY LUCKY TO BE ALIVE AND NOT INJURED. AFTER CONTACTING LAND ROVER ALONG WITH THE DEALER, I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO SOLVE ANYTHING. I AM VERY WORRIED THAT THIS COULD HAPPEN TO SOMEONE ELSE. I ALSO HAVE WITNESSED, ITEMS ON THE CAR WHICH I FEEL NEED TO HAVE A RECALL ON BECAUSE OF THE FACT THE SAME HAS HAPPENED TO THE LOANER CARS AS WELL. STATED BELOW ARE THE AREAS THAT NEED TO BE LOOKED AT WHICH LAND ROVER IS OVER LOOKING OR WILL NOT GIVE US ANY INFORMATION ON. - DRIVERS SIDE LEFT PASSENGER DOOR, WILL NOT LOCK ALONG WITH THE OTHER DOORS AFTER USING THE REMOTE LOCK. HOWEVER, IF OPENED THE ALARM WILL SOUND. - RADIO- KEEPS OVER HEATING, IN WHICH THEY HAVE HAD TO REPLACE MINE THREE TIMES OVER THE 5 MONTH PERIOD OF OWNERSHIP. - SEAT BELTS NOT ENGAGING. MY COMPLAINT IS THAT WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT ANY HEAD LIGHT FROM ON COMING CARS OR STREET SIGNS IS AUTOMATICALLY BLURRED BY THE VERTICAL ELEMENT LINES THAT ARE IN THE WINDSHIELD.
