Re 2006 MERCEDES BENZ CLS500_ 211017_114326 On August 9, 2021, my brakes went out on the freeway when trying to dodge debris and other vehicles, when the brakes  completely went out and caused me to run over major wood pallet debris, and scared for my.life to get to the far right lane to make it off te exit with no brakes whatsoever. and causing major under-carriage repairs. Rather than hit the cars on each side of me, all I could do at that point was get over lanes with no brakes, and make it off the exit before I killed myself and/or someone else. The damage  done from the brakes going out, came to over $4000 in damage repairs to the under-carriage and left me without a vehicle for 45 days while in the shop This not only effected my income since  the vehicle was used for Lyft,, but I also was evicted from my apt. 30 days later, while my vehicle was in the shop, and unable to work to pay my rent. Once getting the car back these past few weeks, even though repairs were done, the car has continued to threaten my life and others, as the brakes continue to randomly go out at a light, on the freeway, behind a merging car, and Ive come so close to having another bad accident. Not to mention since the accident, I am now getting gasoline fumes that seep throughout my car while driving, so profusely, its causing me migraines. But most of all the RISK OF A FIRE!

ANYTIME FUEL TANK IS FILLED, THERE IS STRONG GASOLINE SMELL. IT SEEMS SMELL IS MOST INTENSE WHEN PARKED INSIDE THE GARAGE. GASOLINE SMELL PERSISTS WHEN DRIVING. USUALLY NOTICE SMELL MINIMIZE WHEN CAR HAS RUN FOR APPROXIMATELY 24-50 MILES DISTANCE. OLD DEALER MENTIONED FUEL TANK WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THIS HAD BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM SINCE PURCHASE OF THIS USED VEHICLE IN 2013.

BOUGHT THE 2006 CLS 500 2 YEARS AGO, SINCE THAT SECOND DAY I HAVE ISSUES WITH SBC MODULE, I CALL MB DEALER THEY TOLD ME MY CAR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY, SINCE THE PRODUCTION DATE WAS 2004, OKAY AFTER THAT I TRY SEVERAL OTHER MECHANICS AND NOBODY HAVE THE STAR TOOL TO FIX UP, THE CAR IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AND I CONTINUE TAKE THE RISK COUPLE MONTHS UNTIL THE FUEL LINE STARTS LEAK ON THE PUMP, THIS COULD GENERATE A SPARK AND BURN MY CAR, I CALL AGAIN MB DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME IS PROBABLY UNSAFE TO START THE CAR. AFTER ALL THIS YEARS I PARKED THE CAR AND ALL MY SUSPENSION WAS BROKE AS WELL, CALL AGAIN THE MB DEALER THEY ESTIMATED $ 1800 TO REPLACE THE AIR SHOCKS, SO I BUY FROM ARNOTT THE SAME MB SELL AND I REPLACE ALL 4, SO THE CAR IS UP AGAIN, NEXT WEEK I DECIDE TO SELL THE VEHICLE AFTER DRIVING IN 3 YEARS 9,000 MILES ONLY, TRY TO MOVE THE CAR FROM THE GARAGE, GUESS WHAT, MY TRANSMISSION GO TO LIMP MODE BECAUSE THE BREAKS ARE NOT WORKING, SO FAR I DECIDE TO WRITE IN HERE TO COMPLAIN WHY A SUCH BEAUTIFUL CAR HAVE SO MANY ISSUES AND MB DOES NOT CARE FOR THE OLD MB. I RECENTLY HAD MY BRAKES AND ROTORS REPLACED, MONTHS IN ADVANCE. I BARELY MADE IT HOME AND SINCE THEN I HAVE TRIED TO TAKE MY VEHICLE TO THE SHOP BUT IN DOING SO THE SAME PROBLEM AROSE. AGAIN, I WAS FRIGHTEN TO PUT IT ON THE ROAD I PLACED IT BACK IN THE GARAGE. PLEASE HELP. I AM NOT UNDERSTANDING WHY I AM HAVING THESE PROBLEMS. I BROUGHT THE CAR IN SEPTEMBER OF 2013 AND THIS IS THE ONLY MAJOR ISSUE I HAVE HAD. I LOVE MY CAR. IN SEPTEMBER, 2015 TOOK MY VEHICLE TO HOUSTON GREENWAY (3900 SOUTHWEST FREEWAY; HOUSTON, TEXAS 77027) FOR AN INSPECTION OF THE FUEL TANK (STRONG FUEL ODORS WERE DETECTED). THE INSPECTION REVEALED THAT THE FUEL TANK REQUIRED REPLACEMENT. THE REPLACEMENT WORK WAS DONE AND I PAID FOR IT OUT OF POCKET. I WAS ENTERING ONTO A HIGHWAY (100). AT THE POINT OF THE HIGHWAY I WAS ENTERING(FROM CTY RD 81) IT OPENS THE HIGHWAY TO A 3RD LANE ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. AT THE SAME PLACE IT OPENS THE HIGHWAY UP, THERE IS AN IMMEDIATE EXIT(42ND AVE). AS I AM ACCELERATING TO HIGHWAY SPEEDS, JUST PRIOR TO THE NEW LANE AVAILABILITY THAT DRIVERS MUST ENTER TO GET OFF ON 42ND, MY CAR STARTS CHIMING AND THERE'S A RED WARNING ON MY DASH THAT STATES "STOP, REDUCED BRAKING POWER. DEPRESS BRAKE FULLY." OR SOMETHING QUITE SIMILAR. THERE IS NO SHOULDER, I'M GOING LIKE 10 MPH, TERRIFIED. PEOPLE ARE HONKING AND TRYING TO GET OVER TO GET OFF ON 42ND AVE IN A LANE WHERE I'M GOING 10 MPH AND THEY WERE AT A SPEED OF APPROX 60 MPH(POSTED HWY SPEED). AS I LIMP MY CAR PAST THIS EXIT TO A SHOULDER I THEN ATTEMPT TO BRAKE AND HAVE NO BRAKING POWER. I EVENTUALLY ROLLED TO A STOP. TURNED MY VEHICLE OFF TO DETERMINE MY NEXT MOVE. I TURNED THE VEHICLE BACK ON TO SEE WHAT EXACTLY THE WARNING LIGHT SAID- THERE WAS NOTHING THERE. TESTED MY BRAKES A LITTLE ON THE SHOULDER AND THEY WERE FINE. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE REST OF THE WAY TO MY DESTINATIONS WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS. THIS HAS SINCE OCCURRED A COUPLE MORE TIMES. THROUGH A TRIP TO THE MECHANIC AND THOROUGH RESEARCH IT IS DETERMINED THE PROBLEM LIES IN MY SENSOTRONIC BRAKE PUMP. THIS IS A PUMP THAT MERCEDES WARRANTIED FOR 10 YEARS DUE TO THIS ISSUE. THIS WILL OCCUR TO ALL OTHER DRIVERS OF THIS VEHICLE THAT HAVEN'T HAD THIS PART REPLACED. I NEVER KNEW OF THE SAFETY ISSUE WITH THE BRAKING SYSTEM UNTIL THIS PROBLEM OCCURRED. I WOULD HAVE REPLACED IT YEARS AGO (UNDER WARRANTY AT THE TIME OF REPLACEMENT). MY CHILDREN'S LIVES, MY LIFE, AND THE LIVES OF ALL THE DRIVERS ON THE HIGHWAY THAT MORNING WERE PLACED AT SEVERE RISK. THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED AND STILL SHOULD FOR ALL OF THE OTHER UNSUSPECTING DRIVERS- FOR THEIR SAFETY AND OTHERS ON THE ROAD.

WHILE IN WARRANTY, MY LOCAL DEALER TRIED TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM BY REPLACING THE SENDING UNIT TWICE. TO NO AVAIL, THE PROBLEM WAS NEVER DIAGNOSED AND OR REPAIRED CORRECTLY. NOW THAT I AM CURRENTLY OUT OF WARRANTY, THEY SEEM TO KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. I NEED A NEW FUEL TANK. I WON'T MENTION WHAT THEY QUOTED TO REPAIR IT. I HAD AN OUTSIDE MECHANIC INSPECT THE SENDING UNIT AND TANK AND I COULD VERY CLEARLY SEE THE FUEL POURING FROM THE TOP OF THE TANK AND POOLING AT THE SENDING UNIT. THE FUEL PUMP WAS ALSO LEAKING. I HAVE SPENT MANY HUNDREDS OF HOURS DISCUSSING THIS WITH DEALERS AS WELL AS MBUSA, AND THE END RESULT WAS THAT IT WILL NOT BE REPAIRED. REFERENCE PE12001 & EA13003 AFTER FILLING UP I SMELLED A STRONG GASOLINE ODOR IN THE CAR. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION, THE ODOR WAS COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE CAR. IT SMELLED LIKE THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR SEAT CUSHION HAD BEEN SOAKED IN GASOLINE. THE ODOR WAS SO STRONG, DRIVING THE CAR WITH THE WINDOWS UP WAS IMPOSSIBLE. I DID SOME RESEARCH ONLINE AND FOUND OUT THAT THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE MERCEDES AMG CARS. AS INSTRUCTED ONLINE, I REMOVED THE SEAT CUSHION OPENED AN ACCESS PANEL AND COULD SEE LIQUID GASOLINE POOLING ON TOP OF THE FUEL LEVEL SENDER UNIT. I COULD ALSO SEE WHERE THE UNIT HAD CRACKED, ALLOWING GAS TO ESCAPE THE TANK. I CONTACTED MBUSA ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND THEY ADVISED ME TO SEE THE DEALER. AS EXPECTED, THE DEALER DIAGNOSED IT AS A FAULTY FUEL SENDER UNIT. THEY CONTACTED MERCEDES ON MY BEHALF TO ATTEMPT TO GET ASSISTANCE WITH THIS REPAIR. MERCEDES DENIED ALL ASSISTANCE UNDER THE STANDARD AND EMISSIONS WARRANTY LEAVING ME WITH OVER $1000 IN REPAIRS. IN 2009, MY CAR WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED UNDER RECALL #2008-020001 WHICH WAS SUPPOSED TO FIX THIS PROBLEM, BUT IT CLEARLY FAILED TO FIX THE PROBLEM PERMANENTLY. I HAD TO GET MY CAR REPAIRED BY A THIRD PARTY REPAIR SHOP AND FEEL DISGUSTED BY THE MERCEDES INABILITY TO FIX SUCH A FAULTY AND SERIOUS DESIGN FLAW. THEY WOULD RATHER MAKE THEIR CUSTOMERS PAY $1000-2000 TO AVOID PASSING OUT FROM GASOLINE FUMES OR RISK BEING KILLED IN AN EXPLOSION FROM A COLLISION. *TR

SO, I TOOK MY CAR BACK AND ASKED HIM TO PROVIDED ME THE COST ESTIMATE, I CALLED THE EXTENDED WARRANTY AND IT IS NOT COVER UNDER MY BASIC PLANS. SO, I DROVE THE CAR HOME, SMELLING LIKE THE I HAVE BEING SHOWERED BY THE SMELL OF LEAKING FUEL. I ALSO, GAVE A CALL TO MBUSA AND FILE MY COMPLAIN, AND SOMEONE CHECKED MY VIN AND TOLD ME THAT MY CAR DOESN'T COVER UNDER THE RECALL, BUT SHE WILL PUT THE FILE TOGETHER AND WILL BRING IT UP TO THE UPPER MANAGER TO REVIEW THE CASE AND TOLD ME THAT SOMEONE WILL GIVE ME A CALL BACK ON MONDAY SINCE THEY ARE CLOSING ON THE WEEKEND. THE WARRANTY DOESN'T COVER THE SENDING UNITS. THE CAR THEN VIOLENTLY LEAPT FORWARD WITH THE GEAR SHIFT IN PARK POSITION AND TOOK OFF FOR ANOTHER 50 YARDS. I WAS ABLE TO USE THE BRAKES TO GET THE CAR UNDER CONTROL ONCE AGAIN. AT THIS TIME I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND SCREAMED TO THE BOYS " GET OUT OF THE CAR". AFTER THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP THEIR SERVICE PEOPLE EXPERIENCED THE SAME NIGHTMARE AS I DID. I APPLIED THE BRAKES AND STOPPED THE CAR. THE CAR IN THE PAST AS JOLTED IN THE PROCESS OF ACCELERATION FEELING LIKE IT IS ALMOST "STUCK." I DID NOT HAVE IT QUESTION THE FIRST INCIDENT FURTHER BECAUSE I HAD NOT BEEN DRIVING THE CAR LONG - IT IS MY HUSBAND'S CAR AND HE NOW HAS A DEMO FROM WORK. I'VE ALREADY REPLACED TWO RIMS AT $1100 EACH, AND THE CAR IS ALMOST UNDRIVEABLE DUE TO VIBRATION. THE TIRES SUPPLIED WITH THE CAR ARE COMPLETELY WORN OUT, AND ONE HAS A SIDEWALL BUBBLE. IF THE CURRENT TREND CONTINUES, I WILL HAVE TO SPEND CLOSE TO $20,000 IN RIMS OVER A 39 MONTH LEASE PERIOD. THE CAR HAS BEEN DRIVEN AT NORMAL SPEEDS, MOSTLY OVER SMOOTH HIGHWAYS. A REPORT FROM TIRE RACK.COM REGARDING THE FACTORY SUPPLIED TIRES SUGGESTS THAT THEY NOT BE USED AT TEMPERATURES BELOW 40F!
