Ford has known for several years that Ford Rangers (2010) have defective air bags. Two years ago Koons Ford in Annapolis replaced my driver's side air bag. Now my driver's side air bag needs to be replaced (now), yet Ford won't give me a date when work can be completed. Koons Ford in Annapolis says Ford told them they are not providing replacement airbags for Ford Rangers now or in the near future. Ford also told me directly "they have no idea" when Ford Ranger air bags will be replaced. This safety driving health hazard has gone on long enough. I shouldn't have to drive a car with a defective air bag year after year, after year, since ownership. Please email me back letting me know you contacted Ford and a "DATE" they will do "Legally Required Repair Work", Thank you

I CALLED THE FORD DEALERSHIP ON THE MONDAY AFTER I GOT THE NOTICE THE FIRST BUSINESS DAY THAT I COULD CALL THEM I WAS TOLD THAT I WAS PUT ON A LIST AND THAT THE PART WAS SPECIFIC TO MY VIN NUMBER AND THE PART WOULD BE ORDERED AND IT WOULD BE THERE IN 2 TO 3 WEEKS FROM FORD. AFTER 3 WEEKS I CALLED BACK TO FIND THAT MY NAME WAS NOT RECORDED AT ALL IT'S AS IF I HAD NEVER CALLED AND NO IT WAS NOT SPECIFIC TO MY VIN AND THEY JUST CAME IN BATCHES AND WENT DOWN THE LIST AND WHEN THEY GOT TO ME THEY GET AHOLD OF ME. I WAITED ANOTHER COUPLE OF WEEKS AND THEN CALLED THE NUMBER ON THE RECALL NOTICE FOR FURTHER ASSISTANCE AND THAT LADY COULD JUST SAID THAT SHE HAS NO MORE INFORMATION THAN THE DEALERSHIP. THAT THEY ALSO DON'T KNOW WHEN THE PART IS COMING, HOWEVER YES IT IS SPECIFIC TO MY VIN. SO IF IT IS VIN SPECIFIC AND I GOT THE LETTER SAYING FOR MY VIN THERE IS A PART AVAILABLE WHY CAN NO ONE SAY WHEN A PART WILL COME. I FEEL THAT GETTING THIS LETTER FROM FORD IS JUST FILLING SOME REQUIREMENT THAT THEY HAD LEGALLY WHEN REALLY NOTHING HAS CHANGED AND MY VEHICLE WILL NOT GET REPAIRED. SO THAT IS MY COMPLAINT AND MY QUESTION TO YOUR ORGANIZATION- IS IT TRUE IF I GOT A LETTER SAYING A PART IS AVAILABLE FOR MY SPECIFIC VIN THAT THERE SHOULD BE ONE AVAILABLE FOR MY VEHICLE? I WAS DRIVING 75 MPH IN HEAVY TRAFFIC ON INTERSTATE 69 BETWEEN SHEPPARD AND CLEVELAND TEXAS AND THE VEHICLE STALLED AND DIED IN THE INSIDE LANE. WHEN I TRIED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE IT WAS FLASHING A GREEN WRENCH AND WOULD ONLY RESTART IN A REDUCED POWER MODE. FORD DEALER DIAGNOSED PROBLEM AS CRANK CASE OVERFILLED BY 13 QUARTS DUE TO FAILED HPFP. THIS WAS A NEW FORD ENGINE WITH ONLY 13,000 MILES ON IT WITH A 24 MONTH UNLIMITED MILEAGE WARRANTY. DEALER ADVISED THAT FORD WILL COVER HPFP REPLACEMENT BUT WILL VOID BALANCE OF WARRANTY IF I DO NOT PAY $7,000 TO REPLACE ALL OTHER FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM COMPONENTS. FORD BASES DETERMINATION ON UPLOADED PHOTOS FROM DEALER THAT THEY CLAIM SHOW EVIDENCE OF "RUST" WHICH THEY CLAIM INDICATES FUEL CONTAMINATION. THEIR PHOTOS WERE OF THE HPFP STRAIGHT OFF THE TRUCK AND COVERED WITH DEISEL. AND WHAT THEY CLAIM IS RUST IS ACTUALLY LIGHT REFRACTION OF THE DEISEL (PHOTO LABELED HPFP WITH DEISEL) I WITNESSED BOTH THE REMOVAL AND THE PHOTOGRAPHY OF THE PUMP. AT THAT TIME I ASKED THAT THE DEISEL BE WIPED OFF BEFORE THE PHOTOS BUT WAS TOLD THAT THAT WAS NOT ALLOWED. I RETURNED TO THE DEALER THE NEXT DAY AND RETRIEVED THE PUMP FOR INDEPENDENT TESTING FOR RUST AND TOOK PHOTOS AFTER WIPING OFF THE DEISEL. PHOTO LABLELED WITHOUT DEISEL FORD RECOMMENDED VERBALLY THAT I CHECK TO SEE IF MY AUTO INSURANCE COVERS CONTAMINIATED FULE BUT THEN REFUSED TO GIVE ME ANYTHING IN WRITING, INSTEAD REFERRING ME TO FORD OGC REVEIWING THE INTERNET I SEE THAT THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED EVENT. THESE BOSCH HPFP HAVE BEEN FAILING FOR YEARS. IT IS A DISGRACE THAT FORD IS EXTORTING - COERCING ME TO PAY FOR THE BALANCE OF THE INJECTION SYSTEM WHILE ACCEPTING RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE FAILED HPFP. FIRST OCCURRENCE, MECHANIC ASCRIBED TO LOSS OF AIR INTAKE DUE TO MOUSE NEST IN AIRBOX, WITH VEHICLE COMPUTER CAUSING ACCELERATION. LIKELY WRONG, LIKELY SAME AS SECOND OCCURRENCE. SECOND OCCURRENCE, MECHANIC ASCRIBED TO THROTTLE BODY CARBON DEPOSITS RESULTING IN BINDING OF THE THROTTLE LINKAGE (NO MOUSE NEST PRESENT). CLEANED THROTTLE BODY. I WAS NOT HURT AND NEITHER WAS THE OTHER PERSON BUT BY THE DAMAGES OF EACH CAR I THINK MY AIRBAGS SHOULD HAVE WORKED AND THEY DIDN'T. EMERGENCY BRAKE FAILED COMPLETELY. EMERGENCY BRAKE ON THIS VEHICLE WOULD OCCASIONALLY FREEZE TO BRAKE DRUM WHILE PARKED IN WET, FREEZING CONDITIONS. THIS IS WITH THE EMERGENCY BRAKES FULLY RELEASED. NORMALLY, A SLIGHT APPLICATION OF POWER WOULD "POP" THE BRAKE FREE AND THEN OPERATE NORMALLY. ON ONE OCCASION, THE BRAKE SHOES WERE WELL FROZEN TO THE EMERGENCY BRAKE DRUMS (THIS VEHICLE HAS DISC BRAKES WITH SMALL BRAKE DRUMS ONLY FOR THE EMERGENCY BRAKES) AND MORE POWER WAS NEEDED TO FREE THE VEHICLE, ASSOCIATED WITH A LOUDER "POP". AFTER THAT, THE EMERGENCY BRAKES WERE COMPLETELY NON-FUNCTIONAL. THE EMERGENCY BRAKE PEDAL GOES TO THE FLOOR WITH NO ACTUATION OF THE EMERGENCY BRAKES. THIS VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH A MANUAL TRANSMISSION. THERE WAS A PREVIOUS EMERGENCY BRAKE RECALL ON SOME VEHICLES OF THIS MODEL/YEAR TYPE WITH MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS (NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 10V202000). IN THAT RECALL, THE CONSEQUENCE ITEM STATES "A MANUAL TRANSMISSION VEHICLE PARKED IN NEUTRAL WITHOUT A FULLY APPLIED PARKING BRAKE MAY HAVE UNINTENDED MOVEMENT WHICH MAY CAUSE A CRASH." I USED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE EVERYTIME I DROVE THE VEHICLE. MY DRIVEWAY IS SLOPED AND I APPLIED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WHEN I EXITED THE VEHICLE TO OPEN/CLOSE THE GARAGE DOOR. NOW I MUST SHUTOFF AND RESTART THE VEHICLE EVERYTIME. I'VE DONE SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND SOME THINGS THAT MAY BE USEFUL. THE EMERGENCY BRAKE CABLES ARE INTACT AND FUNCTIONING PROPERLY ALL THE WAY BACK TO ENTRY INTO THE BRAKE DRUMS. THE BRAKE SHOES ARE ARRANGED IN A TOP-BOTTOM SETUP INSTEAD OF THE NORMAL FORWARD-AFT SHOE SETUP. THIS ALLOWS THE LOWER SHOE TO SET IN ANY WATER THAT MAY ACCUMULATE ON THE LOWER AREA OF THE BRAKE DRUM, FREEZING IT TO THE DRUM IN COLD TEMPERATURES, EVEN WITH THE EMERGENCY BRAKES RELEASED. TODAY I WAS INFORMED THAT A FORD ENGINEER HAD BEEN THERE AND NOT ONLY WERE THEY ABLE TO RECREATE THE PROBLEM IN MY TRUCK. THAT THEY SUBSEQUENTLY TOOK OTHER BRAND NEW 2010 F 250'S ON THE LOT AND WERE ABLE TO GET SIMILAR FAILURES IN THOSE VEHICLES. I WAS THEN INFORMED THAT THERE WAS NO FIX FOR THIS, THAT THEY BELIEVED THAT IT WAS AN INHERENT PROBLEM WITH THESE VEHICLES. I AM REFUSING TO TAKE THE TRUCK BACK AS I HAUL HEAVY LOADS IN MY CONTRACTING BUSINESS AND CAN NOT DRIVE A VEHICLE THAT WILL NOT STOP. I AM AMAZED AT THE CAVALIER ATTITUDE OF THIS DEALERSHIP, BUT NOT SURPRISED AS I HAVE HAD PREVIOUS PROBLEMS THERE OVER THE YEARS.
