The open recall on this vehicle cannot be complete without the customer being fully responsible for damage that might be caused during the recall repair. GM is advising all dealerships to force customers to sign a waiver if they have the recall work performed releasing GM and the dealer from all responsibility of any damage done to the dashboard. If the dashboard is damaged and has to be replaced then the customer is faced with a more than $1000 repair job therefore the customer must choose between feeding and caring for their family or risking the passenger being seriously injured or killed due to the faulty airbag issue. GM should stand behind the decision they made to use cheap plastic for their dashboards on this vehicle instead of punishing their customers and costing them more money or risking injury or death to passengers.

WE RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL NOTICE SAYING THE PROPELLANT IN THIS INFLATOR MAY DEGRADE AFTER LONG-TERM EXPOSURE TO HIGH HUMIDITY AND TEMPERATURE CYCLING, WHICH COULD CAUSE THE INFLATOR TO EXPLODE DURING A DEPLOYMENT. AN INFLATOR RUPTURE MAY CAUSE METAL FRAGMENTS TO PASS THROUGH THE AIRBAG AND INTO THE VEHICLE INTERIOR AT HIGH SPEED, WHCIH MAY RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH TO PASSENGERS. WHEN WE CALLED THE GMC DEALER TO GET THIS FIXED, THEY SAID THEY DON'T HAVE THE PARTS. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. THIS IS OUR FAMILY VEHICLE FOR MY HUSBAND, MYSELF AND OUR 6 CHILDREN THAT WE RIDE IN TOGETHER EACH DAY. I'M CONCERNED THAT IF THE AIRBAG DOES HAPPEN TO GO OFF IT'S GOING TO THROW SHARP PIECES OF PLASTIC FLYING THROUGHOUT THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. ANOTHER ISSUE I HAVE FOUND IS IF I SET ANY PAPERS ON THE DASH THEY FALL INTO THE DASH. I CAN NOW SEE THE WIRING INSIDE THE DASH BECAUSE OF THE MISSING PIECES. ON TOP OF THIS YOU HAVE TO BE CAREFUL TOUCHING THE DASH AS I HAVE BEEN CUT ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS FROM THE SHARP EDGES CREATED BY THIS ISSUE. THE CENTER OF THE DASH APPEARS TO BE ON BORROWED TIME IT HAS SUNKEN NEARLY A HALF AN INCH WITHIN THE LAST MONTH. IF I'M EVER IN AN ACCIDENT, EVEN EVER SO SMALL, I'M SURE PARTS OF THAT DASH WILL GO FLYING AND HURT THE DRIVER AND/OR PASSENGER. I ALSO DON'T KNOW HOW SAFELY CONTAINED MY DASH-AIRBAG IS. MY SPEAKER AND GPS ARE ALSO ON THAT DASH AND ARE NO LONGER INSTALLED WHERE THEY SHOULD BE CAUSING MORE PROBLEMS IN THEIR NEW LOCATIONS WHICH COULD RESULT IN SOMETHING ELSE NOT FUNCTIONING LIKE IT WAS DESIGNED TO BE. THE PREMIER COMPANY I SPOKE WITH TOLD ME THAT THE REPAIRS MAY NOT LAST A DAY AND THAT EVEN IF I REPLACE THE DASH SKIN COMPLETELY IT WILL LIKELY OCCUR IN THE REPLACEMENT. IN READING ONLINE I DISCOVERED THAT MANY PEOPLE ARE EXPERIENCING THIS PROBLEM AND THAT GM REFUSES TO DO A RECALL AND IN ONLY SOME INSTANCES WILL COVER HALF THE COST WHICH CAN EXCEED $1200.00. SO I PROCEEDED, STOP AT A 4 WAY STOP SIGN (RIVERVIEW AND LAKESIDE), WHEN I PROCEEDED ON ALL THE DOOR LOCKS STARTED GOING OFF AND THE POWER AND TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT ENGAGE. MY GMC DEALER STATED MY EXTENDED WARRANTY DOESN'T COVER THIS "COSMETIC" ISSUE AND THEREFORE I WILL HAVE TO COME OUT OF POCKET FOR A PORTION OF THE COST. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. THE CAR WILL MOVE FORWARD THEN TRY TO SHIFT INTO 2ND GEAR AND MISS. AGAIN THE NOSE DIVES, RPM'S SHOOT WAY UP, WE ARE JOLTED INTO OUR SEATBELTS. CAR WAS OFF FOR APPROXIMATELY 10 MINUTES WHILE I ASK FOR A GM DEALERSHIP IN TOWN. TURNED CAR ON AND THE SHAKING HAD STOPPED AND THE POWER APPEARED TO BE NORMAL. WENT TO GM. THEY HOOKED UP TO DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE . THE CODE THAT CAME UP WAS FOR A THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR REPLACEMENT. WAS COVERED UNDER A SPECIAL COVERAGE ADJUSTMENT, (12-6-2013) SENT OUT TO DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENTS. GM KNOWS THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM YET NO ONE INFORMED THE DRIVERS OF THESE VEHICLES. MY YUKON DENALI XL WAS FIXED . I AM REPORTING THIS BECAUSE I WAS PUT IN A VERY DANGEROUS POSITION ON THE HIGHWAY AND HIGH SPEEDS. Additionally, GM is recalling certain 2007-2008 Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Escalade EXT, Chevrolet Avalanche, Silverado 1500, Suburban, Tahoe, GMC Sierra 1500, Yukon, Yukon XL vehicles originally sold, or ever registered, in the states of Arizona, Arkansas, Delaware, District of Columbia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia or "Zone B." These vehicles are equipped with non-desiccated passenger frontal inflators containing phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate (PSAN) propellant. These inflators may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to high absolute humidity, high temperatures, and high temperature cycling.
