WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS CRUISE CONTROL SET AND NOT SET, SLIGHT ACCELERATION VEHICLE SEEMS TO COMPLETELY LOOSE GEAR AND CONNECTION WITH DRIVE TRAIN, THE RPMS SPONTANEOUSLY JUMP TO 6500 TO 7000, MOVE THE SHIFTER AT THIS POINT TO NEUTRAL. PER CONSUMER REPORT: TOYOTA AND LEXUS ARE RECALLING ABOUT 1.8 MILLION VEHICLES FROM THE 2013 THROUGH 2019 MODEL YEARS BECAUSE THEIR FUEL PUMP COULD STOP WORKING, WHICH COULD LEAD TO A SUDDEN STALL OR HESITATION WHILE DRIVING. THE PROBLEM INCREASES THE RISK OF A CRASH, ESPECIALLY WHEN THE VEHICLE IS TRAVELING AT A HIGH SPEED. AFTER DOING RESEARCH I HAVE LEARNED THAT THIS WAS NOT THE CASE AND IS SHOWING DEFECTIVE. THIS HAS BEEN AND STILL IS A BIG CONCERN FOR MANY OWNERS FOR A SAFETY AND DEADLY REASONS. THE ANTISKID AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I DROVE TO THE HILLSDALE SHOPPING CENTER AND PARKED THE CAR. WHEN I RESTARTED THE CAR IT RAN OK. THIS 2010 IS250 WAS PURCHASED NEW IN OCTOBER 2009 AND HAS APPROXIMATELY 3,300 MILES. ON FEB 19TH, 2010 DRIVER MADE A U-TURN AT LOW SPEED. AFTER THE COMPLETION OF THE TURN THE CAR STARTED AN UNCOMMANDED ACCELERATION, CAUSING IT TO SPIN TO THE RIGHT. THE CAR THEN JUMPED A CURB WITH THE WHEEL STILL SPINNING AND THE BOTTOM RESTING ON THE CURB. PUSHING AND HOLDING THE START/STOP BUTTON IN THE CAR FINALLY CUT THE ENGINE. 2008 LEXUS IS250 AWD HAD PULLED INTO A PARKING SPACE ON A SLIGHT INCLINE AND STOPPED. WHEN THE OPERATOR TRIED TO PUT THE VEHICLE INTO PARK THE ENGINE REVVED AND CAR MOVED VIOLENTLY FORWARD CLIMBING AN EIGHT INCH CURB TO HIT A CONCRETE COLUMN ON THE FRONT OF AN OFFICE BUILDING. CURRENTLY HAVE A 2010 LEXUS IS250 AWD (BOUGHT ON 2/9/2010) AND NOTED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS THAT THE RPMS INCREASE RANDOMLY AFTER THE CAR HAS STOPPED AND IS STATIONARY.
