TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 MITSUBISHI DIAMANTE EQUIPPED WITH COOPER CS3 TIRES (NA). WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, AIR FROM THE VEHICLE'S FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE BEGAN TO BE RELEASED. THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE INTO A FUEL STATION/REPAIR SHOP WHERE THE TIRE WAS REPLACED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC THAT SOLD HIM THE TIRES. THE TIRES WERE MEASURED AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT EACH OF THEM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE TIRE SIZE WAS UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 198,000 AND THE VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 216,242.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 MITSUBISHI DIAMANTE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HEATER CORE FLUID LEAKED ONTO THE CENTRAL COMPUTER AND CAUSED THE TRANSMISSION TO FAIL. IN ADDITION, THE GEAR SHIFTER COULD NOT BE RELEASED FROM THIRD GEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 164,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
I HAVE A 2003 MITSUBISHI DIAMANTE LS WITH 71677 MILES ON IT ALL OF THE SUDDEN MY HUSBAND (THE PRIMARY DRIVER) TELLS ME THAT EVERY TIME HE GETS OUT OF THE CAR HE FEELS LIGHT HEADED AND NAUSEOUS. DAYS LATER THE FRONT WINDSHIELD STARTED FOGGING UP WHILE DRIVING AND AFTER TURNING THE CAR OFF (WHETHER IT IS WARM OR COLD OUTSIDE) I GOOGLED WHY WOULD THIS HAPPEN AND HAVE SPOKEN WITH A FEW MECHANICS AND THEY ARE TELLING ME THAT IT IS THE HEATER CORE GOING OUT, AND THAT THE REASON WHY MY HUSBAND IS GETTING LIGHT HEADED AND NAUSEOUS IS BECAUSE THERE IS ANTI-FREEZE COMING INTO THE INTERIOR OF THE CAR WHICH IS VERY DETRIMENTAL TO YOUR HEALTH. I HAVE READ A TON OF COMPLAINTS ON DIFFERENT WEBSITES AND THEY ALL SAY THE SAME THING. I CONTACTED MITSUBISHI CORPORATE TODAY AND SPOKE WITH A [XXX] IN CUSTOMER SERVICE AND EXPLAINED TO HER WHAT WAS GOING ON AND ASKED WHY MITSUBISHI HAS NOT DONE ANYTHING ABOUT THIS. FIRST BECAUSE OF THE HEALTH IMPLICATIONS, SECONDLY BECAUSE OF THE SAFETY ISSUE OF THE WINDSHIELD FOGGING UP WHILE YOU'RE DRIVING TO WHERE YOU CAN'T SEE AND THIRDLY THAT FROM READING THE COMPLAINTS, THE HEATER CORE IS RIGHT ABOVE THE COMPUTER IN THE CAR SO IF THE HEATER CORE IS LEAKING ANTIFREEZE, IT COULD FRY THE COMPUTER AND CAUSE A POSSIBLE CRASH IF THE CAR WERE TO STOP SUDDENLY. SHE SAID THAT "SEEING THAT I HADN'T HAD THE CAR INTO A DEALERSHIP IN THE LAST YEAR THAT THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO ABOUT IT". I TOLD HER THAT IT JUST STARTED AND WHAT WAS I SUPPOSE TO DO, LOOK INTO MY CRYSTAL BALL AND KNOW A YEAR AHEAD OF TIME THAT THE HEATER CORE WAS GOING TO GO OUT. THIS IS LUDICROUS! ! ! MITSUBISHI KNOWS THAT THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE AND ARE NOT DOING ONE THING TO FIX IT (BY ISSUING A RECALL) WHERE DO WE DIAMANTE OWNERS GO TO GET SOME HELP? DO WE NEED TO FILE A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AS THAT SEEMS LIKE THE ONLY WAY A FIRE IS GOING TO GET LIT UNDER THEM (CORPORATIONS TEND TO ACT IF IT MEANS LOSING TONS OF MONEY) THE CAR CAN'T BE DRIVEN AND I'M STILL PAYING ON IT. HELP! INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 MITSUBISHI DIAMANTE. THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE WAS CONSUMING EXCESSIVE AMOUNTS OF FUEL AND SHE WAS CONCERNED THE VEHICLE WOULD PREMATURELY RUN OUT OF FUEL WHILE DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP WHERE THE CONTACT WAS TOLD THAT THE INTAKE AIR TEMPERATURE SENSOR WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
TL- THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 MITSUBISHI DIAMANTE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE NEUTRAL LIGHT ON THE VEHICLE STARTED FLASHING ON AND OFF AND HE NOTICED A SMELL OF COOLANT. HE NOTICED THAT THE COOLANT WAS LEAKING ONTO THE FLOORBOARD OF THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE PROGRESSES UNTIL THE VEHICLE WILL NOT START. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER AND THE OWNER WAS ADVISED THE FAILURE WAS THE A.T. CONTROL RELAY. CODE P-1751. THE FAILURE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE IS APPROXIMATELY 60,000. RD
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 MITSUBISHI DIAMANTE. THE CONTACT STATED HE NOTICED AN UNUSUAL ODOR OF COOLANT AND THE NEUTRAL INDICATOR BEGAN SPORADICALLY ILLUMINATING. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION, THE CONTACT FOUND COOLANT LEAKING ONTO THE FLOORBOARD. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE WOULD INTERMITTENTLY FAIL TO START. THE DEALER PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND DETERMINED THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY THE A.T. CONTROL RELAY AND PRODUCED CODE P1751. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 60,000. UPDATED 10/27/10. *LJ
INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). THIS CONCERNS MY 2003 MITSUBISHI DIAMANTE. IT HAS LESS THAN 50,000 MILES ON IT AND IT HAS SUDDENLY STARTED SPEWING A LIGHT FILM ON THE INSIDE OF MY FRONT WINDSHIELD SO THAT I CANNOT SEE WELL...AND NOT AT ALL WHEN I AM HEADED INTO THE SUN. I HAVE CHECKED ON THE INTERNET AND A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MITSUBISHI DIAMANTES GOING BACK SEVERAL MODEL YEARS. ALL DIAMANTES NEED TO BE RECALLED AND THE HEATER CORE AND/OR ITS O RINGS FIXED OR REPLACED. IF THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN, PEOPLE WILL DIE WHEN THEY SUDDENLY CANNOT SEE THE ROAD THROUGH THEIR FRONT WINDSHIELD. [XXX] *TR *DT
I HAVE A 2003 MITSUBISHI DIAMANTE WITH 60,000 PLUS MILES. FOR THE PAST SEVERAL MONTHS I HAVE NOTICED A STRONG SMELL OF ANTI-FREEZE COMING FROM THE VENTS AND THE WINDOWS CONSTANTLY FOGGING UP, SOMETIMES TO THE POINT THAT I CANNOT SEE TO DRIVE. I HAVE READ MANY SIMILAR COMPLAINTS AND AGREE WITH OTHERS THAT MITSUBISHI NEEDS TO ISSUE A RECALL FOR THE HEATER CORE, AS I AM SURE THIS IS THE PROBLEM. I HAVE YET TO TAKE MINE IN TO GET IT REPAIRED, SO I DON'T HAVE A COST QUOTE AT THIS TIME. *TR
ANTI-FREEZE LEAK ON CARPET PASSENGER SIDE NEAR FIREWALL FOGGED UP WINDOWS CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND OFF DUE TO THE LEAK THE ECU STARTED WORKING AWFUL. *TR
I PURCHASED A USED 2003 MITSUBISHI DIAMANTE FROM BANKSTON DODGE IN 2007. IT WAS CLEAN AND RAN WELL. THERE WAS AN UNUSUAL ODOR INSIDE, BUT SMELLED AS IF IT COULD HAVE BEEN WHAT THE DEALERSHIP USED TO CLEAN THE INSIDE. IT TURNED OUT TO BE ANTI-FREEZE. THE VEHICLE HAD A HEATER CORE LEAK PRIOR TO OUR PURCHASE. RECENTLY THE GAS GAUGE HAS STOPPED WORKING. *TR
I OWN A 2003 DIAMANTE WITH ABOUT 60,000 MILES ON IT. MY WINDOWS CONTINUALLY FOG UP WHILE DRIVING OR PARKED AND THE DEFROSTER/VENTS DOES NOT ELIMINATE THE FOG AT ALL, MAKING DRIVING VERY DIFFICULT AND DANGEROUS ESPECIALLY IN RAINY WEATHER AND DURING THE NIGHTTIME. THE SMELL OF ANTIFREEZE IS EXTREMELY STRONG INSIDE THE VEHICLE. I HAD A PROBLEM WITH MY TRANSMISSION SHIFTING AND THE LIGHT AROUND THE "N" ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WAS FLASHING. THE MECHANIC SAID MY HEATER CORE WAS LEAKING COOLANT ONTO THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE CAUSING IT TO MALFUNCTION. I WAS TOLD THAT EVEN THOUGH I PAID FOR AND HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THIS VEHICLE IT WOULD NOT BE COVERED BECAUSE THE HEATER CORE LEAKING IS WHAT CAUSED THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE TO FAIL. THE HEATER CORE WAS REPLACED ALONG WITH THE CONTROL MODULE AND THE RELAY WITH A COST OF OVER 2,500 DOLLARS. IT SEEMS LIKE A PROBLEM LIKE THIS THAT IS EXTREMELY COMMON IS THESE VEHICLES, CREATES SAFETY AND HEALTH HAZARDS, AND VERY EXPENSIVE TO FIX SHOULD BE RECALLED AND COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. *TR
HEATER CORE LEAKAGE CAUSING SMOKE AND ANTIFREEZE ODOR TO COME OUT OF CAR VENTS AND UNDERNEATH DASH BOARD (PASSENGER SIDE). THERE IS A RISK OF ACCIDENT, PERSONAL INJURY, OR DEATH BECAUSE USE OF A/C, HEATER, AND DEFROST IS NOT AVAILABLE WHEN WINDSHIELDS AND WINDOWS FOG UP. *TR
I OWN A 2003 MITSUBISHI DIAMANTE, AROUND 60K MILES I STARTED NOTICING A SWEET SMELL FROM THE VENTS AND A CONSTANT FOG WHEN THE HEAT OR AIR WAS TURNED ON IN THE CAR. AFTER TAKING MY CAR TO THE MECHANIC I WAS TOLD THAT MY HEATER CORE WAS BUSTED. MY CAR ALSO SDRIVING IN "SAFE MODE" MEANING I CAN ONLY RUN IN SECOND GEAR WHICH IS BURNING A TANK OF GAS EVERY THREE DAY, I LOVE 10 MILES FROM WORK. MY CAR FLASHED IN NEUTRAL WILL IN DRIVE. AFTER RESEARCHING MY PROBLEMS I'VE NOTICE WELL OVER 1000 POSTED VIA INTERNET FROM OTHER MITSUBISHI DIAMANTE OWNERS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. ITS HARD TO BELIEVE THIS VEHICLE HAS NOT BE RECALLED. THERE ARE GREAT RISKS OF INHALING ANTI FREEZE WHICH IS SEEPING INTO THE CAR THROUGH THE FLOOR BOARDS AND VENTS. I HAVE AN ASTHMATIC CHILD WHO HAS BEEN DRIVING IN THE CAR UNTIL THE PROBLEM WAS BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION. THIS LEAK MAY ALSO MAKE THE COMPUTER SYSTEM IN THE VEHICLE GO OUT. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE BEFORE AN ACCIDENT IS CAUSED OR A LIFE IS TAKEN. *TR
MY TRANSMISSION RELAY WENT OUT DUE TO A LEAK HEATER CORE. THE CORE HAS BEEN LEAKING FOR SOME TIME AND HAS FOGGED MY WINDOWS SO BAD I COULD NOT SEE AT TIMES, HAVING TO PULL OVER AND WIPE OFF THE FILM. THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM WITH THESE CARS. *TR
I OWN A 2003 DIAMANTE MITSUBISHI. THE PROBLEM STARTED WITH A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMING ON, FOGGING THE WINDOW WITH A FOWL TOXIC SMELL THEN THE CAR WOULD NOT HARDLY MOVE OUT GEAR. I WAS TOLD THAT THE CAR'S HEATER CORE LEAKED ONTO THE COMPUTER WHICH CAUSED THE TRANSMISSION RELAY TO SHORT OUT DO TO THE COMPUTER FAILING. THE COMPUTER WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY AT 78,000 MILES BUT I STILL HAD TO PAY FOR THE NEW COMPUTER SYSTEM BECAUSE I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS THE HEATER CORE THAT CAUSED THE COMPUTER TO FAIL. THIS IS SUCH A POOR DESIGN! THE COMPUTER SHOULD HAVE BEEN PROTECTED IN SUCH A CASE...FUNNY THING IT IS NOW THAT I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE A HEATER CORE, A COMPUTER AND A TRANSMISSION RELAY AT A CUT WRENCHING COST OF $3,675.58. I WROTE A LETTER TO THE PRESIDENT OF NORTH AMERICA MITSUBISHI THAT THE HEATER CORE SHOULD BE A RECALL BUT TO NO AVAIL. I HAVE ALL MAINTENANCE RECORDS ON THE DIAMANTE SO THAT WAS NOT WHAT CAUSED THIS HEATER FAILURE. I DO HAVE THE COMPUTER THAT WAS REPLACED. IT IS NOW APRIL AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS COME BACK ON...NOW WHAT? AJ *TR
I HAVE 2003 MITSUBISHI DIAMANTE. MY "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT CAME ON, SO I TOOK IT IN FOR SERVICE, AND MY HEATER CORE WAS LEAKING ON MY COMPUTER...NOW IT'S GOING TO COST ME AROUND 3,500 DOLLARS....THIS IS A VERY FLAWED DESIGN. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS ITEM. *TR
DRIVING ALONG AND WINDOWS STARTED TO FOG UP, AND STARTED SMELLING A ODD ODOR. FOUND OUT MY HEATER CORE WAS BAD. APPARENTLY CRACKED FOR NO REASON. RIGHT NOW BY-PASSED THE HEATER CORE BECAUSE MITSUBISHI DEALER QUOTED $1,800.00 TO FIX IT. IT APPEARS TO BE A BIG PROBLEM WITH THE DIAMANTE'S. *TR
I BOUGHT AN 2003 MITSUBISHI DIAMANTE IN 2005. MY WIFE AND I NOTICED AN OCCASIONALLY "SYRUP" SMELL, BUT DIDN'T THINK MUCH OF IT. THIS WEEK END (MARCH 08)ANTI-FREEZE (COOLANT) BEGAN TO COME OUT OF THE VENTS IN A MIST. IT EVEN TURNED THE BOTTOM HALF OF MY FRONT WINDSHIELD GREEN CREATED A FILM ON THE WINDOWS WHICH MADE IT HARD TO SEE. I HAVE A NEW BORN CHILD THAT IS NOW SICK AS WELL MYSELF AND MY 2 1/2 YEAR OLD. THEY HAVE A DOCTORS APPOINTMENTS TOMORROW AND I HOPE THEY ARE NOT SICK FROM THE CAR. ESTIMATED COST TO FIX WAS ABOUT $1150. *TR
I OWN A 2003 MITSUBISHI DIAMANTE LS WITH 70,000. I PURCHASED THE CAR FROM THE DEALERSHIP BRAND NEW. IN NOVEMBER 2007, THERE WAS A STRONG SMELL OF ANTIFREEZE IN THE CAR. AFTER SOME INVESTIGATION, IT WAS DISCOVERED THERE WAS A LEAK IN THE HEATING CORE, WHICH WAS CAUSING THE ANTIFREEZE TO LEAK OUT OF THE COMPARTMENT AND INTO THE CABIN OF THE CAR...NEEDLESS TO SAY, THE CAR IS UNDRIVEABLE BECAUSE OF THE HEALTH RISKS ASSOCIATED WITH BREATHING ANTIFREEZE. ESTIMATED REPAIRS ARE AROUND $1500. THIS IS COMPLETELY RIDICULOUS!!!! I AM OUTRAGED TO SEE THAT SO MANY 2003 DIAMANTE OWNERS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. I BELIEVE AN INVESTIGATION NEEDS TO BE CONDUCTED, AND MITSUBISHI MOTORS SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THIS!!! *TR
37813 MILES. HEATER CORE LEAKING. NOTICE THE SWEET SMELL AND NOW OVERHEATING OCCURS. *TR
THIS IS A MITSUBISHI DIAMANTE 2003 ES. I'M EXPERIENCING A SWEET SMELL OF ANTI-FREEZE INSIDE THE CAR AS SOON AS I TURN ON HEATING. ANTI-FREEZE CONTAINS ETHYLENE GLYCON AND THE FUMES ARE HIGHLY TOXIC. FIXING THE HEATER CORE WILL COST $1300. I AM FILING THIS COMPLAINT TO ASCERTAIN THAT THIS IS A VERY VERY COMMON PROBLEM IN MITSUBISHI DIAMANTE AND MITSUBISHI MOTORS SHOULD BE AWARE OF THREE MAIN RISK ASSOCIATED WITH THIS: (1) THE DEFECT EXPOSES CUSTOMERS TO UNUSUAL LEVEL OF TOXIC ETHYLENE GLYCOL WHICH SHOULD NOT EXCEED 10-25 PPM LEVELS (CONSULT MSDS FOR ETHYLENE GLYCOL) (2) THE LEAK CAN AFFECT THE CAR'S MICROPROCESSOR AND POSES A SEVERE HAZARD FOR DRIVERS. (3) FAULTY HEATER CORE MAKES THE VISIBILITY DIFFICULT DUE TO FOGGING OF WINDSHIELD THUS PUTTING THE DRIVER AT GREATER RISK. I WILL EVENTUALLY FIX THE PROBLEM BY SPENDING $1300 IF MITSUBISHI REFUSES TO ISSUE A RECALL. RIGHT NOW I AM TRYING SOME RADIATOR ANTI-LEAK TO DELAY THE COSTLY REPAIR. BUT I WANT NHTSA TO BE AWARE OF THE HAZARDS THAT HAS BEEN IGNORED BY THE MANUFACTURER. *TR
2003 DIAMANTE ISSUES. STARTED SMELLING A SYRUPY TYPE SMELL, COOLANT SMELL THROUGHOUT THE CABIN AND HAD FUMES ESCAPING THROUGH THE VENT IN THE CAR. COOLANT LEVEL DROPPING WITH NO VISIBLE SIGNS ON THE GROUND. LOOKS TO BE THE HEATER CORE. NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE YET. SEEN MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE SAME ISSUE AND ON THIS SITE. WONDERING WHY SO MANY COMPLAINTS HAVE BEEN SENT, BUT NOTHING DONE YET? *TR
IN RESEARCHING WHAT MIGHT BE WRONG WITH MY MITSUBISHI GALANT HEATER, I FIND IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM DESCRIBED TO THE TEE. NOT HAVING HEAT IN MY CAR AND LIVING IN THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST COULD PROVE TO BE DANGEROUS FOR MYSELF AND OTHERS AS VISIBILITY AND FREEZING WILL OCCUR AS I HAVE TO RUN THE COLD AIR ON MY WINDSHIELD TO SEE. *TR
HEATER CORE (AND A/C CONDENSATE) LEAKS INTO PASSENGER COMPARTMENT CAUSING WINDOW TO "FOG UP". THIS COULD BE VERY DANGEROUS AS IT IMPAIRS THE DRIVERS SIGHT. *TR
REGULAR USE. FAILURE CAUSES AN ODOR INSIDE THE VEHICLE AND A FILM WHICH INHIBITS VISIBILITY ON THE WINDSHIELD. *TR
FOR THE PAST TWO YEARS OUR CAR HAS HAD A VERY PUNGENT FOWL SMELLING ODOR WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONER OR HEATER IS ENGAGED THAT HAS GOTTEN PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. I TOOK THE CAR FOR REPAIRS PRIOR TO THE TERMINATION OF THE WARRANTY AND WAS TOLD (BY THE DEALERSHIP) THAT THEY DID NOT NOTICE A SMELL, AND THERE WAS NO PROBLEM. SIX MOTHS AGO THE CAR BEGAN TO RUN HOT AND I TOOK THE CAR TO OUR NEIGHBORHOOD MECHANIC. UNDER PRESSURE HE NOTICED A SMALL LEAK IN THE COOLANT PIPING AND REPLACED A SECTION OF PIPE ($150.00). I ASKED IF THIS COULD BE CAUSING THE ODOR (AS MENTIONED EARLIER AND HE STATED MAYBE, OR IT COULD BE THE HEATER CORE).WITHIN THE PAST TWO WEEKS THE 'CHECK ENGINE SOON' LIGHT HAS COME ON AND UPON CHECKING THE MESSAGE AND INSPECTION OF MY CAR I'VE BEEN TOLD THE HEATER CORE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. MY NEIGHBORHOOD MECHANIC WAS AT A LOSS BECAUSE TOLD ME IT WAS VERY ODD FOR THE HEATER CORE TO FAIL SO EARLY IN A CAR. I'VE CHECKED THE INTERNET AND HAVE COME ACROSS HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE IN THE SAME SITUATION (WITH MITSUBISHI'S). I AM VERY UPSET WITH THE FACT THAT THE MITSUBISHI DEALER MAY HAVE LIED TO ME (WHEN THE CAR WAS UNDER WARRANTY). I ASKED FOR MULTIPLE ITEMS TO BE FIXED (UNDER WARRANTY) AND THEY REFUTED EVERY REQUEST. THE HEATER CORE WILL BE REPLACED WITHIN TWO WEEKS. *TR
MAPLE SYRUP SMELL FROM AIR VENTS THEN CAR STARTED TO OVERHEAT HEATERCORE FAILURE, ANTIFREEZE IN FLOORBOARDS ON WINDSHIELD AND COMING THROUGH AIR VENTS. A NEW HEATERCORE INSTALLED VERY COSTLY HAD TO DO WORK MYSELF BECAUSE WARRANTY EXPIRED. HAD TO SHAMPOO CARPETS AND BUY NEW FLOORMATS BECAUSE THE ANITFREEZE RUINED THEM. AFTER READING MANY COMPLAINTS YOU WOULD THINK THAT A RECALL WOULD BE MADE. JUST BECAUSE NO DEATHS THE CONSUMER SHOULD SUFFER. WHAT ABOUT THE MONEY THAT IT TOOK TO MAKE THE REPAIR. THAT WAS MONEY TAKEN FROM MY FAMILY THAT WE USE TO FEED US AND HAVE SHELTER. COME ON YOU HAVE TO AUTHORITY TO DO SOMETHING SO WHY DON'T YOU. *TR
FIRST THE WINDSHIELD ON THE MITSUBISHI DIAMANTE 2003 LS FOGGED UP, LATER FUMES STARTED TO COME OUT OF THE VENTS. ALSO, NOTICED DAMP CARPET ON FRONT PASSENGER SIDE. CLOSE INSPECTION INDICATED COOLENT WAS LEAKING ON THE CARPET. *AK I TOOK THE CAR TO LOCAL DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS. SERVICE TECHNICIAN AT THE DEALERSHIP DIAGOSED THE PROBLEM WITH HEATER CORE AND THE HOSE CONNECTING TO THE HEATING SYSTEM FAULTY. COOLENT FUMES ARE TOXIC AND CAN CAUSE SEVERE INJURY. I AM HOPING THAT NHTSA WILL TAKE ACTION AND MITSUBHI WILL REIMBURSE ME AND OTHERS FOR THE CHARGES TO REPLACE FAULTY EQUIPMENT.
I NOTICED THE SMELL OF MAPLE SYRUP ABOUT TWO WEEKS AGO. TODAY, THE INSIDE WINDSHIELD AND SIDE WINDOWS OF THE DIAMANTE FOGGED UP WITH A GREASE FILM THAT WOULD NOT CLEAR. I WENT TO MY LOCAL MOBILE 1 AND HAD THE COOLANT SYSTEM FLUSHED. WHEN I DROVE OFF IT WAS ACTUALLY WORSE. IT GOT TO THE POINT THAT I COULD NOT SEE. I HAVE SUFFERED SEVERE HEADACHES FOR THE LAST TWO WEEKS AS WELL AS NAUSEA. I IMMEDIATELY DROVE TO MY MITSUBISHI DEALER. AFTER ANALYSIS, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE HEATER CORE WENT OUT. AS WELL, AN OIL LEAK HAD FORMED AND THE TIMING BELT WAS GOING BAD. THEY SAID THAT COOLANT WAS LEAKING IN THE RIGHT PASSENGER FLOOR , I FELT IT AND NEVER ONCE DID IT FEEL DAMP, AND THEY NEEDED TO CLEAN THE CARPET AND REPLACE THE FLUX FOR $237.00. THE COST TO REPAIR THE HEATER CORE AND OIL LEAK, $1300.00. THE TIMING BELT REPAIR IS $700.00. THANK GOD I BOUGHT THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. ALL BUT THE TIMING BELT IS COVERED WITH A $100.00 DEDUCTIBLE. I ONLY HAVE 63,000 MILES ON THIS CAR. THIS IS MY FOURTH MITSUBISHI AND MAY POSSIBLY BE MY LAST, ESPECIALLY IF MY HEALTH IS JEOPARDIZED. *AK
2003 MITSUBISHI DIAMANTE COOLANT LEAK INSIDE THE CAR. STEAM FOGGING THE WINDOWS AND STRONG CHEMICAL ODOR LEAVING RESIDUE ON WINDOWS. QUOTED $1000 TO REPAIR, THEY SAY IT NEEDS A NEW HEATER CORE. IT MAY NOT BE THE HEATER CORE, BUT JUST SEALS. I HAVE BYPASSED THE HEATER HOSES AND FORTUNATELY LIVE IN A WARM AREA. *JB
CAR SMELLS LIKE COOLANT. WINDOWS WON'T CLEAR UP WHILE IM DRIVING. VERY FOGGY. IT HAPPENED WHEN THE HEATERWAS NEEDED. THE ODOR WAS MAKING ME NAUSEOUS AND SICK. DEALER SAID I NEEDED A NEW HEATER CORE AT 20,000 MILES. *AK
THE CAR ONLY HAS 63,000 MILES. AN ANTIFREEZE ODOR WAS NOTICED INITIALLY AND BEGAN TO INTENSIFY WITH TIME. WHEN THE DEFROSTER IS RUNNING THE WINDSHIELD WILL FOG UP AND THE ANTI-FREEZE SMELL IS SO INTENSE THAT IT NAUSEATES MY WIFE AND KIDS. I HAVE ALSO NOTICED THAT THE CARPET ON THE PASSENGER SIDE IS DAMP. IT APPEARS THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE DIAMANTE DUE TO A FAILURE WITH THE HEATER CORE AND ITS CONNECTIONS. *JB
I NOTICED THAT THE WINDSHIELD WAS FOGGED, AND THE DEFROSTER WOULD NOT CLEAR THE FOG. BLAMED IT ON THE HUMID FLORIDA WEATHER UNTIL ONE EVENING I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK AND ALL OF MY WINDOWS WERE FOGGED. HAD TO KEEP WIPING THE WINDOWS WITH MY HAND IN ORDER TO SEE OUT THE WINDOW. TOOK THE CAR TO TO BE CHECKED, AND IT WAS THE HEATER CORE. THIS CAR IS TOO NEW FOR THE HEATER CORE TO HAVE GONE BAD. *NM
VARIOUS INTERMITTENT FAILURES TO INCLUDE, CAR LOCKING ON ITS OWN, HEADLIGHTS NOT GOING OUT WHEN CAR IS TURNED OFF, CAR NOT DINGING WHEN KEYS LEFT IN IGNITION, AND WINDOW FUSE BEING BLOWN WHEN WINDOWS ARE NOT BEING RAISED OR LOWERED. HAVE TAKEN CAR TO DEALER AND AN ELECTRICAL SPECIALIST. BOTH HAVE SAID THEY CAN'T FIX IT SINCE THE PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT. *NM
HEATER CORE ISSUE WITH MITSUBISHI DIAMANTE 2003 SUMMARY: NOTICE CONSISTENT AND VERY NOTICEABLE FOUL ODOR WHEN HEATER IS ON. . FOGGING OF FRONT WINDSHIELD. HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM IDENTIFIED AS CONSISTENT WITH HEATER CORES ISSUES BY OTHER DIAMANTE OWNERS WHO HAVE HAD THEIR CAR SERVICED AT A MITSUBISHI DEALER. HAVE NOT REPLACED ANYTHING YET BECAUSE THE PARTS AND LABOR QUOTES HAVE BEEN ANYWHERE FROM $600-$1000. CAR HAS 36,000 MILES ON IT. *NM
ON FRIDAY, JAN 19, 2007, I WENT TO MY 2003 MITSUBISHI DIAMANTE VRX AFTER WORK TO GO HOME. WHEN I GOT TO IT, ALL WINDOWS WERE TOTALLY FOGGED OVER, WHICH IS ABNORMAL. WITH HIGH HEAT, I WAS ABLE TO CLEAR A PORTION OF THE WINDSHIELD, RELYING ON A PAPER TOWEL TO CLEAR THE REMAINDER. I PARKED THE VEHICLE FOR ABOUT 2 HOURS AFTER ARRIVING AT HOME AND HAD TO RELY ON PAPER TOWELS TO CLEAR THE WINDSHIELD ONCE AGAIN. THIS TIME, I NOTICED A DISTINCT ANTIFREEZE SMELL. THE FOLLOWING DAY, THE SUNLIGHT SHOWED THE FILM TO BE OF A GREEN COLOR. AT THIS TIME, I REALIZED THAT THE WINDOWS WEREN'T FOGGY, BUT IT SEEMED THAT ANTIFREEZE VAPORS WERE BLOWING INTO MY CAR. AFTER SOME RESEARCH ON THE DIAMANTE OWNERS' GROUP WEBSITE, IT WAS EVIDENT THAT THE HEATER CORE OR O-RINGS WERE CAUSING THIS. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO LAWSON MITSUBISHI, WHERE IT IS BEING REPAIRED. THIS IS SOMETHING THAT HAPPENED WITH LITTLE IDENTIFIABLE WARNING. HAD THIS HAPPENED ON THE ROAD, AN ACCIDENT WOULD HAVE SURELY ENSUED. *NM
2003 MITSUBISHI DIAMANTE WITH 65000 MILES. NOTICED FOG COMING OUT OF VENTS AROUND THE RADIO. IT SMELLED LIKE ANTI-FREEZE AND CREATED A FOG ON MY WINDOWS THAT WAS BAD ENOUGH TO RENDER THE CAR UNDRIVEABLE. I WAS ALSO GETTING AN ERROR MESSAGE OF P-1751. THIS REFERS TO A PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION RELAY CONTROL. I TOOK THE CAR TO A TRANSMISSION SHOP AND AFTER DIAGNOSING FOR TWO DAYS, THE MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT HE HAD DISCOVERED A LEAKING HEATER COIL THAT MAY OR MAY NOT HAVE DAMAGED THE PCM. WORST CASE SCENARIO, $1600. IT WILL AT LEAST COST $500, BEST CASE SCENARIO. I UNCOVERED NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS FROM DIAMANTE OWNERS WITH MODELS FROM A WIDE RANGE OF YEARS WHO WERE EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEMS. THIS IS CRIMINAL NEGLIGENCE AND I PERSONALLY REQUEST AN INVESTIGATION TO RESEARCH HOW MISTUBISHI HAS BEEN GETTING AWAY WITH THIS, FOR SO LONG. THE SAME EXACT PROBLEMS ARE OCCURRING ON A FREQUENT BASIS. *JB
2003 MITSUBISHI DIAMANTE LS 58,000 MILES. I NOTICED A 'MAPLE SYRUP' SMELL IN THE CABIN WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONER AND HEATER WERE RUNNING. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHEN I BEGAN HAVING TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS AS WELL. NO TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS WERE FOUND, BUT THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE HEATER CORE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF OVER $1,000. THEY WILL NOT KNOW FOR SEVERAL DAYS IF THE LEAKY HEATER CORE HAS AFFECTED THE TRANSMISSION OR ENGINE CONTROLS. THE HEATER CORE WAS LEAKING POTENTIALLY TOXIC COOLANT INTO MY PASSENGER COMPARTMENT IN THE CAR. DEALER ADVISED ME THAT THEY EXPECT EVERY DIAMANTE FROM 1997-2003 WILL NEED THIS DUE TO A MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT. MITSUBISHI ALSO RELEASED A SERVICE BULLETIN TO ALL DEALERS REGARDING THIS PROBLEM. MITSUBISHI SHOULD BE FORCED TO RECALL THE VEHICLES, OTHERWISE AT LEAST ADVISE ALL OF THE OWNERS OF SAID VEHICLES THAT THE UNITS SHOULD BE REPLACED IN THE MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE. *JB
MAKE : MITSUBISHI MODEL : DIAMANTE LS YEAR: 2003 JUST PURCHASED CAR FROM DEALER STATING CAR IN EXCELLENT MECHANICAL CONDITION. UPON DELIVERY OF CAR FROM TRANSPORTER, GOT IN THE CAR KNEW IMMEDIATELY THERE WAS FILM ON WINDOW AND COULD SMELL COOLANT IN THE AIR. TURNED CAR ON, STRONG SMELL OF COOLANT COMING THROUGH VENTS WITH COOLANT LEAKING ONTO PASSENGER FLOOR. TEXAS AUTO GROUP, THE SELLER, REFUSED TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY DESPITE REPRESENTING CAR IN EXCELLENT MECHANICAL CONDITION. TOOK TO A MITSUBISHI REPAIR SERVICE AND HAD TO HAVE HEATER CORE REPLACED AT A COST OF $1167.92. THIS REPAIR SERVICE 40 MILES AWAY AND IT TOOK 7 DAYS TO COMPLETE. HAD TO HAVE CARPET AND CAR DETAILED TO GET RID OF COOLANT SMELL. RESEARCHED ON INTERNET AND FOUND OUT THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE 1998 WITH THESE HEATER CORES WITH MITSUBISHI VERY MUCH AWARE OF IT, AND OBVIOUSLY NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO CHANGE THIS PROBLEM. THIS CAR ONLY HAS 61145 MILES ON IT AND THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR THIS IRRESPONSIBILITY OR COSTS TO THE CONSUMERS OF THESE CARS,INCLUDING PROPERTY DAMAGE AS WELL AS HEALTH RISKS TO THE CONSUMERS AS COOLANT IS TOXIC TO BREATH. MITSUBISHI SHOULD BE FORCED TO DO A RECALL AND REIMBURSE THEIR CUSTOMERS AS THEY HAVE KNOW OF THIS PROBLEM AND HAVE DONE NOTHING ABOUT IT. UPON RESEARCHING MORE, HAVE FOUND THAT SOME FOLKS HAVE HAD TO HAVE IT REPAIRED MORE THAN ONCE. THERE IS NOW STARTING TO SHOW COMPLAINTS OF THE 2003 MODELS. VERY UNHAPPY CONSUMER AND FEEL TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF AND HAVE NOW PAID MORE FOR THIS CAR THEN IT IS WORTH. HOPE THIS WILL HELP ANOTHER UNSUSPECTING CUSTOMER OF THE MITSUBISHI DIAMANTES. *NM
I OWN A 2003 MITSUBISHI DIAMANTE VRX AND HAVE A BAD HEATER CORE AT 43,000 MILES. I HAVE READ ON THIS WEBSITE HTTP://WWW.DIAMANTEOWNERS.COM/FORUM/INDEX.PHP?SHOWTOPIC=3615&ST=60 THAT THE HEATER CORE IS LOCATED DIRECTLY ABOVE THE CAR'S COMPUTER. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AS LEAKING FLUIDS ONTO THE COMPUTER CAN CAUSE THE CAR TO MALFUNCTION AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. PERHAPS THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL? *JB
HEATER CORE LEAKING CAUSING FUMES IN THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT AND FOGGING OF THE WINDSHIELD. *NM
CAR SHAKES WHEN BRAKES ARE APPLIED. HAD BRAKES & ROTORS REPLACED AT 50,000 MILES. MECHANIC SAID ROTORS WERE TOO DAMAGED TO TURN. AFTER 6 MONTHS AND 20,000 MILES, THE CAR IS SHAKING AGAIN WHEN BRAKING. TOOK BACK TO MECHANIC, WHO CHECKED THE ROTORS AND SAID THEY NEED TO BE TURNED. I OWN A 1998 MITSUBISHI DIAMANTE, AND THAT CAR DOES NOT NEED THE ROTORS REPLACED EVERY TIME I REPLACE THE BRAKE PADS. MY DRIVING IS MOSTLY HIGHWAY, SO I DON'T USE THESE BRAKES MUCH. *JB
STEERING WHEEL BEGAN TO SHAKE AND VISIBLE FUMES BEGAN ENTERING VEHICLE THROUGH AIR VENTS. THERE WAS A STRONG STENCH OF ANTI-FREEZE. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON AND VEHICLE BECAME HARD TO CONTROL. AFTER TAKING CAR TO LOCAL DEALERSHIP, I WAS IMMEDIATELY TOLD, EVEN BEFORE AN INSPECTION WAS DONE, THAT THE HEATER CORE ON VEHICLE HAD A SLOW LEAK THAT OVER THE COURSE OF "SEVERAL MONTHS" THAT EVENTUALLY LEAKED ON TO THE TRANSMISSION ELECTRIC BOX AND SHORTED OUT THE ENTIRE SYSTEM. IT SEEMED OBVIOUS THAT THIS WAS A FAMILIAR ISSUE WITH THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE. I WAS ORIGINALLY GIVEN AN ESTIMATE OF $3,300, BEING THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PAST ITS WARRANTY PERIOD. AFTER SEVERAL CALLS TO OWNER OF DEALERSHIP AND DOING RESEARCH ON THIS VEHICLES COMPLAINT HISTORY, THE PRICE WAS REDUCED 3 SEPARATE TIMES, FINALLY COSTING ME $880. APPARENTLY, MITSUBISHI HEADQUARTERS PICKED UP THE COST OF THE PARTS, LEAVING ME TO PAY LABOR CHARGES. THE MECHANIC HANDLING THE REPAIR STATED THAT DUE TO "POOR DESIGN" ON THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE, AND EVEN WITH OUR REGULAR MAINTENANCE CHECKS AT THE DEALERSHIP, THIS PROBLEM CANNOT POSSIBLY BE RECOGNIZED OR DIAGNOSED IN ITS EARLY STAGES UNTIL IT HAS CAUSED EXTENSIVE DAMAGE. NEEDLESS TO SAY, THIS WILL BE MY LAST MITSUBUSHI. *JB
HEATER WENT OUT, AND AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO HAVE REPAIRED, WAS INFORMED HEATER CORE WAS DEFECTIVE. REPAIRING/REPLACING HEATER CORE IS AN EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE PROCEDURE!! *NM
MITSUBISHI 2003 DIAMANTE. DEFROSTER/DEFOGGER : HEATER CORE WINDOWS WERE NOT CLEARING PROPERLY WITH DEFROSTER. WINDOWS SEEMED TO FROST UP AND STRONG SMELL LIKE BURNING WIRES. FOUND OUT THAT ANTIFREEZE WAS LEAKING INTO THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE CAR AND HEATER CORE AND SEALS NEED TO BE REPLACED. $900 TO REPAIR WITH 75% OF THIS AMOUNT IN LABOR! APPARENTLY THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH THESE CARS SINCE 1998. THE SMELL IN THE CAR CAN'T BE GOOD FOR YOU AND I FEEL NAUSEATED AND DIZZY WHILE DRIVING. HAVE TO KEEP THE WINDOWS OPEN IN 32 DEGREE WEATHER IN ORDER TO USE THE CAR. DEALER SAYS THE SMELL WILL REMAIN FOR AT LEAST 2 WEEKS. SEEMS THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS ONGOING PROBLEM. *NM
AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY IN 55 MPH DIRECT FRONT END COLLISION. *JB
THE HANDLE ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE COMES OUT OF ITS PLACE. THE HATCHBACK ON THE OUTLANDER NO LONGER CAN STAY UP ON ITS OWN, THE ARM THAT HOLDS IT UP IS DEFECTIVE.
I HAVE A 2003 MITSUBISHI LANCE OZ RALLY, CAR HAS 32,000 MILES ON IT, I PURCHASED IT USED. I HAVE HAD A PROBLEM WHERE SOMETIMES I WOULD SMELL BURNING ODOR FROM THE VENTS. MITSUBISHI MOTORS WILL NOT ACCEPT LIABILITY AND PAY TO HAVE A FAILURE OF A FACTORY WELD REPAIRED ON THE RIGHT FRONT ENGINE CROSS MEMBER OF MY 2003 MITSUBISHI MONTERO WHICH IS STILL UNDER THE FACTORY WARRANTY. MY INSURANCE ADJUSTER HAS SUBMITTED A LETTER INFORMING MITSUBISHI'S VEHICLE DEPARTMENT THAT THE DAMAGE TO MY VEHICLE IS DUE TO FAILURE FROM IMPROPER WELDING. I HAVE ALSO BEEN INFORMED BY A CERTIFIED BODY SHOP THAT THE PART WAS NOT WELDED PROPERLY. MITSUBISHI HAS REFUSED TO PARTICIPATE IN REPAIRING THE VEHICLE SINCE AUGUST 12, 2005. *JB
WHEN BRAKES APPLIED THE CAR SHAKES SO BAD YOU CAN'T CONTROL IT. BRAKES WERE WORKED ON BY MITSUBISHI 3 TIMES THEN REPLACED BRAKES AND THEY ARE BAD AGAIN. *JB
WHEN I APPLY THE BRAKES, THE CAR SHAKES AND JERKS UNCONTROLLABLY. I HAVE HAD WORK DONE ON THE ROTORS AS WELL AS THE BRAKES. I HAVE LESS THAN 20K MILES ON THE CAR. IT IS HIGHLY UNUSUAL TO HAVE 4 WARPED ROTORS WITHOUT SOME TYPE OF MANUFACTURING DEFECT.
ABOUT A MONTH AND A HALF AGO I NOTICED AN ODD SMELL IN MY CAR. NOT REALIZING WHAT IT WAS I CONTINUED TO DRIVE MY CAR. THEN A WEEK AGO MY CAR STARTED TO OVER HEAT BECAUSE I DIDN'T HAVE ANY COOLANT. I ALSO NOTICED A FILM ON MY WINDOWS. I HAVE A MAT UNDER THE CAR AND HAVEN'T NOTICED ANYTHING LEAKING ON TO THE GROUND. MY CAR IS A 2003 MITSUBISHI DIAMANTE WITH 59,0000. AFTER HAVING MY CAR LOOKED AT FURTHER IT IS APPARENT MY HEATER CORE HAS FAILED. *JB
2003 MONTERO SPORT XLS--- STUDDERS/JERKS AT 30+ MPH WHILES DRIVING DOWN THE RD, HAS BEEN IN SHOP 9 TIMES
ACCELERATOR "STUCK" & VEHICLE REMAINED IN IDLE, FORCING TO CRASH
VEHICLE FRONT END SHIFTS BACK AND FORTH WHEN BEHIND TRACTOR TRAILERS ON HIGHWAY. SITUATION IS DANGEROUS WHEN TRACTOR TRAILER PULLS OUT IN FRONT OF ME. NOT DUE TO TAILGATING, SINCE IT IS THE WORST WHEN APPROXIMATELY 5 CAR LENGTHS ARE BETWEEN TRACTOR TRAILER AND ME. CAR IS DIFFICULT TO CONTROL DUE TO SHIFTING. FRONT END WAS CHECKED AND THERE ARE NO ALIGNMENT PROBLEMS, AND TIRES HAVE BEEN REPLACED. SHIFTING CONTINUES TO OCCUR EVEN WITH TRACTION CONTROL TURNED OFF. AERODYNAMICS PROBLEM OR VEHICLE STABILITY PROBLEM? ALSO OWN A 1998 DIAMANTE THAT DOES NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM. PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED SINCE VEHICLE PURCHASE AND SEVERITY OF PROBLEM HAS REMAINED THE SAME.*AK
CAR DOORS ARE LOCKING BY THEMSELVES, THE ALARM FOR KEYS BEING LEFT IN THE IGNITION NO LONGER SOUNDS, THE AUTOMATIC UNLOCK WHEN KEYS LEFT IN THE IGNITION NO LONGER WORKS, AND THE HEADLIGHTS DO NOT TURN OFF WHEN THE CAR IS TURNED OFF AND DOOR OPENED. HAVE BEEN STRANDED SEVERAL TIMES DUE TO KEYS LOCKED IN THE CAR, AND A DEAD BATTERY DUE TO HEADLIGHTS BEING LEFT ON.*AK
WHEN I APPLY THE BRAKES, THE CAR SHAKES AND JERKS UNCONTROLLABLY. I HAVE HAD WORK DONE ON THE ROTORS AS WELL AS THE BRAKES. I HAVE FOUR NEW TIRES, BUT PROBLEM STILL OCCURS. I AM AFRAID THAT ONE DAY WHILE DRIVING THIS CAR THE BRAKES WILL FAIL AND CAUSE MY FAMILY AND I SERIOUS INJURY . THIS IS A 2003 MITSUBISHI DIAMANTE, AND THE INCIDENTS HAVE OCCURRED DAILY 3 MONTHS AFTER I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE.*AK
VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A PROBLEM WITH THE HEATER COIL. ANTI-FREEZE WAS GETTING INTO VENT, AND THE VAPORS FOGGED UP THE WINDOWS, INTERRUPTING THE VISIBILITY. OWNER CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER, WHO REFUSED ASSISTANCE BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. *AK
WHILE SERVICING THE VEHICLE MECHANIC DISCOVERED THAT DRIVER'S SIDE HEATED SEAT BURNED. CONSUMER WAS UNAWARE OF THE DEFECT. *AK
THERE IS A ROTTEN EGG SMELL, ALL THE TIME. I'VE TAKEN IT IN TO THE DEALER 3 PLUS TIMES, AND EACH TIME THEY TELL ME THERE IS NOTHING WRONG, AND THAT I AM USING CHEAP GAS. THEY SUGGUESTED CHANGING GAS STATIONS. IT STILL SMELLS NO MATTER WHERE I GET THE GAS.*AK
BRAKES VIBRATE WHEN APPLIED. I HAVE RETURNED MY '03 DIAMONTE FOUR TIMES FOR REPAIRS AND EACH TIME THEY STATE THAT THE ROTORS WERE WARPED AND EITHER REPLACED OR MACHINED THEM. BRAKES ARE NOW VIBRATING AGAIN AND WILL NEED TO BE RETURNED FOR REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT. WIND NOISE COMING FORM THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW. WINDOW ADJUSTMENTS WERE MADE THREE TIMES STILL HAVING NOISE PROBLEMS. RETURNED THREE TIMES TO HAVE LUMBAR SUPPORT SWITCH REPLACED. *AK
EAGLE LS KEEPS LOSING TIRE PRESSURE (ABOUT 10PSI) EVERY 5-7 DAYS. HAVE WENT TO THE MITSUBISHI DEALERSHIP 4 TIMES NOW FOR THE PROBLEM AND THEY SAID TO GO SEE A GOODYEAR SERVICE CENTER. GOODYEAR SAYS THE TIRE JUST NEEDS AIR AND IT'S OK. THIS CANNOT BE SAFE IF THE TIRE IS CONTINUALLY LOSING AIR PRESSURE IN SUCH A SHORT TIME FRAME. *JB
AIRBAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY IN MY 2003 GALANT ES. I HIT A STOPPED VEHICLE, WHILE MOVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, HEAD-ON INTO THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE OTHER CAR. *JB
WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED, THE VEHICLE VIBRATED UNCONTROLLABLY. THE DRIVER WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND DROVE IT TO A REPAIR SHOP FOR INSPECTION. THE MECHANIC INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT THE ROTORS AND PADS MAY NEED TO BE REPLACED. *JB THE CONSUMER FOUND NOTHING APPARENTLY WRONG BEFORE THE PARTS WERE DISCARDED. *SC *JB
2003 DIAMANTE PURCHASED IN OCT 2003. VEHICLE VIBRATED "HORRIBLY" WHEN BRAKES ARE APPLIED. VIBRATION/LOUD HIGHWAY TIRE NOISE. BOTH REAR TIRES "CUP". ALSO, RUBBING SOUND R/F WHEEL AREA WHEN TURNING. DESPITE SEVEN (7) ATTEMPTS AT REPAIR BY DEALER THIS CONDITION PERSISTS. ONGOING CONDITION. MANUFACTURING REP OFFERS TO PUT ON THIRD NEW SET OF TIRES IN 30K MILES; YET STATES THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. DEALER'S SERVICE DEPT ACKNOWLEDGES PROBLEMS WITH BRAKES ON DIAMANTES. WE HAVE BEEN FORCED TO EMPLOY AN ATTORNEY TO GO THE ROUTE OF INVOKING THE NC LEMON LAW. *AK
THE FACTORY TIRES ON THIS VEHICLE ARE BAD. I HAVE GOTTEN 3 FLAT TIRES IN THE LAST 2 WEEKS. THEY WEAR DOWN EXTREMELY FAST AND BLOW OUT VERY EASILY.*AK
I HAVE A NEW 2003 MITSUBISHI DIAMANTE, WHICH IVE TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP 3 TIMES NOW WITH THE SAME TWO ISSUES: THE FRONT BREAKS MAKE NOISE AND MY STEARING WHEEL VIBRATES WHEN I BRAKE AND THE CHECK ENGINE SERVICE SOON LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON.*AK ONE OF THE DEALERS EMPLOYEES TOLD ME THAT THE BRAKES ISSUES WAS VERY COMMON AS SOMETIMES THE CARS SIT FOR A LONG TIME IN A LOT BEFORE THEY ARE SOLD. THIS DOES NOT MAKE FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE AT THIS MOMENT. THE DEALER WILL FIX THE LIGHT AND BRAKE ISSUE ASSURING ME THAT ITS ALL FINE NOW BUT THE PROBLEM KEEPS COMING BACK. IVE PLACED A CALL TO THE MITSUBISHI MOTORS COMPANY ABOUT THIS AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY NEED TO REVIEW THE CASE TO FIGURE OUT WHAT TO DO ABOUT IT.
2003/MITSUBISHI/DIAMANTE VR-X ON OCT 18 2003 I GOT MY NEW CAR AND IT HAS BEEN SHAKING AT ALL TIMES IT WAS IN ON MONDAY 20 TUESDAY 21 WEDNESDAY 22 FROM 22 OF OCT TO 27 I AM STILL NOT DRIVING MY CAR I HAV NO SEEN IT AND MY SHAKING IT STILL NOT FIXED.*AK
I AM DRIVING A RENTED MITSUBISHI PROTOGE'. YESTERDAY I REACHED DOWN TO PICK UP A BOTTLE OF WATER FROM THE RECEPTACLE BY THE DASH. AS I REACHED, I ACCIDENTLY BRUSHED THE GEAR SHIFT LEVER ( AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ) AND THE GEAR SHIFT POPPED INTO NEUTRAL. I PULLED OUT OF TRAFFIC AND TRIED THIS AGAIN. SAME RESULT. JUST BUMPING THE GEAR SHIFT SENT IT INTO NEUTRAL. I FEEL THAT THIS REPRESENTS THE POSSIBILITY OF A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD. IF IT WERE TO OCCUR IN HEAVY TRAFFIC OR IN ADVERSE WEATHER CONDITIONS, ACCIDENTS COULD OCCUR. *AK
