Summary

I WAS DRIVING MY RV DOWN THE FREEWAY WHEN THE INSIDE DUAL BLEW OUT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. BEFORE THE TIRE BLEW OUT I NOTICED A VIBRATION ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE RV. A FEW MOMENTS LATER THE TIRE BLEW OUT AND THE TREAD CAME OFF COMPLETELY LEAVING ONLY THE SIDE WALLS. I DO NOT REMEMBER RUNNING OVER ANY OBJECTS IN THE FREEWAY AND HAD NOT HIT ANY POT HOLES. THIS TIRE WAS THREE YEARS OLD WITH LESS THAN 5,000 MILES ON IT. I HAD CHECKED AND VERIFIED THE TIRE PRESSURE BEFORE LEAVING AND ENSURED THAT I HAD INFLATED THE TIRES TO THE RECOMMENDED TIRE PRESSURE PER THE VEHICLES OWNER MANUAL 80 PSI. THESE TIRES WERE THE DEFINITY DAKOTA LT225/75/16 TIRE. THE TIRE WAS REPLACED BY PEP BOYS AS I HAD PURCHASED THE HAZARD WARRANTY.

Summary

AT 68,450 MILES, SEVERAL ISSUES OCCURRED: 1) OIL PRESSURE SWITCH BLEW OUT OF THE HOUSING, 2) OIL WAS VISIBLE IN COOLANT, 3) OIL WAS LEAKING FROM ENGINE, 4) IDLE VACILLATED UP AND DOWN W/O ANY ACTION ON PART OF THE USER. TOOK VAN TO DEALER, WHO CLAIMED TO HAVE REPAIRED THESE ITEMS. INSPECTION OF THE "REPAIRED VEHICLE" REVEALED OIL STILL DRIPPING OFF ENGINE ONTO GROUND. WAS TOLD THAT THIS WAS "NORMAL" AND WOULD DISAPPEAR. HOWEVER, THIS DID NOT HAPPEN. ENGINE HAS CONTINUED TO LEAK AND OIL CONTINUES TO MIX WITH COOLANT FLUID, EVEN AFTER FLUSHING SYSTEM TWICE SINCE REPAIR. DESPITE NUMEROUS CALLS TO DEALER, PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN FIXED. ENGINE HAS LESS THAN 13K ADDITIONAL MILES ON IT SINCE "REPAIR" AND OIL IS STILL LEAKING. LEAK CONTINUES TO GET WORSE WITH TIME. I BELIEVE THIS IS A MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT AND SINCE THE ENGINE HAS FAR LESS THAN 100K MILES ON IT, SHOULD BE REPAIRED AS A WARRANTY ITEM. MIXING OF OIL AND COOLANT IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND NEEDS TO BE PROGRAMMATICALLY ADDRESSED BY FORD.

Summary

TODAY WAS DRIVING NORMALLY ON THE SIDE ROAD NOT TOWING & IN OVERDRIVE WHEN AROUND 40MPH THE OVERDRIVE DISENGAGED & STARTS REVVING LIKE IT'S IN NEUTRAL. I PULL OVER & PUT IT INTO PARK & THEN BACK INTO OVERDRIVE & START DRIVING ONCE AGAIN & SAME THING HAPPENED THREE TIMES. LUCKILY THERE WAS A SERVICE SHOP CLOSE. I TOOK THE TRUCK IN & THEY SAID TAKE IT TO A TRANSMISSION SHOP. HE ALSO SAID IT WAS FINE TO TAKE IT OUT OF OVERDRIVE & THAT WOULDN'T CAUSE IT TO DO THAT. SO, I TOOK IT OUT OF OVERDRIVE & IT DIDN'T MISS A BEAT. AFTER READING THE REVIEWS IT SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE WITH THE OVERDRIVE SERVO RETAINING CLIP BREAKING. THIS IS BY FAR A MAJOR PROBLEM FORD NEEDS TO LOOK INTO THAT COULD POTENTIALLY PUT LIVES AT RISK. IF IT'S A BAD PART WHY NOT FIX THE PROBLEM IF THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF REPORTS ON THIS SAME EXACT ISSUE? I'VE BEEN A FORD OWNER ALL MY LIFE & AM TRULY SADDENED THAT THIS COULD POSSIBLY BE MY LAST FORD I EVER BUY AGAIN. I'M HOLDING FORD ACCOUNTABLE ON THIS & EVERYONE ELSE THAT HAS THE SAME ISSUE SHOULD DO THE SAME. IT'S A $2.50 PART, THAT'S ALL. & WHEN YOU BRING IT INTO FORD OR ANY OTHER TRANSMISSION SHOP THEY WANT TO DO A WHOLE REBUILD WHICH WILL COST THOUSANDS. WE GO BY THE SAYING BUILT IN AMERICA FOR A REASON & THAT'S NOT USING CRAP PARTS. BUILD IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME & HAVE NO PROBLEMS. IF YOU START THROWING PARTS & BUBBLE GUMMING IT TO DEATH, THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS. FIX IT FORD! THERE ARE ENOUGH COMPLAINTS ON THIS ALREADY. *TR

FILED WRITTEN COMPLAINT TO FORD IN APRIL 2006 FOR RECURRING ENGINE ISSUES. FORD NEVER ANSWERED. ON 1/30/09 TRUCK NOT RUNNING AND FORD REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION. ASKED FORD SERVICE TO CHECK ROUGH RUNNING AND ENGINE POWER LOSS BUT COMPUTER SHOWED NO CODES. TOOK TRUCK INTO FORD ON 1/21/20011 FOR BRAKES AND VEHICLE NOT RUNNING PROPERLY EVEN AFTER WARM UP. DIAGNOSIS FROM FORD --- FOUND RUST IN THE FUEL FILTER, WAS TOLD FUEL TANK NEEDED REPLACED AS WELL AS INJECTORS AND INJECTOR PUMP AND FUEL LINES. COST TO REPLACE $5000 OR MORE. WARRANTY RAN OUT NOVEMBER 2010. FORD IS NOW REQUIRING VEHICLE OWNERS TO REPLACE THEIR FUEL TANKS AND ANY ANCILLARY PARTS AT THEIR OWN COST. FORD HAD TO OF KNOWN THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL TANKS DELAMINATING AFTER 2004. AS A SMALL BUSINESS OWNER IN THIS ECONOMY HAVING TO SPEND EXTRA MONEY ON A PROBLEM THAT COULD AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN TAKEN CARE OF UNDER WARRANTY IS EGREGIOUS. MY VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAS 113,000 MILES AND TO ALREADY HAVE TO REPLACE A TRANSMISSION AND NOW THE FUEL TANK IS INDICATIVE OF A DEFECTIVE VEHICLE. I TOOK IT TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO SAID THAT FORD'S POWER WINDOW BRACKET REGULATOR, WHICH WAS CRACKED, IS ONE PIECE AND REQUIRED REPLACEMENT BY TAKING APART THE DOOR. $275 WAS SPENT TO FIX THE REAR WINDOW. I HAVE SEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS REGARDING FORD'S WINDOWS. RIGHT NOW I CONSIDER MYSELF LUCKY THAT IT HAS ONLY HAPPEN TO ONE WINDOW, BUT I WON'T BE SURPRISED IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN SOON TO ANOTHER WINDOW SINCE IT APPEARS OTHERS HAVE HAD TWO OR THREE WINDOWS WITH THIS PROBLEM. IT APPEARS TO BE A MAJOR DEFECT THAT SHOULD BE RECALLED. *TR

Summary

FUEL TANK LINER IS SEPARATING CAUSING CORROSION AND RUST IN THE FUEL TANK. FORD REFUSES TO WARRANTY THE PROBLEM. THEY ARE BLAMING IT ON THE DIESEL FUEL, WHICH IS INACCURATE. I HAVE ONE CONFIRMATION FROM A CUSTOMER THAT THEY FINALLY COVERED HIS REPAIR, HOWEVER, HE HAD TO LODGE COMPLAINTS WITH BOTH THE NHTSA AND THE BBB. SO I AM OFFICIALLY LODGING A COMPLAINT AGAINST FORD MOTOR COMPANY, STEVEN'S FORD (THE DEALER), AND THE WARRANTY COMPANY. THE SAFETY ASPECT OF THIS IS THE TRUCK STALLS WHILE DRIVING AND DOES NOT RESTART. THE TRUCK ALSO EXPERIENCED A LOSS OF POWER WHEN GOING UPHILL. BOTH OF WHICH CAN CAUSE A DANGEROUS SITUATION WHEN IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. THIS IS A CHRONIC PROBLEM THAT FORD IS AWARE OF AND IS DENYING RESPONSIBILITY. I PERSONALLY KNOW OF AT LEAST 5 PEOPLE WHO HAVE HAD SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH THEIR E350 VANS DUE TO CORROSION IN THE FUEL TANK. THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT AND SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY. (PLEASE NOTE THERE IS LESS THAN 36,000 MILES ON THIS, BUT FORD IS NOT TAKING RESPONSIBILITY, NEITHER IS THE WARRANTY COMPANY FROM WHICH AN EXTENDED WARRANTY WAS PURCHASED) . FORD IS TRYING TO BLAME THE REASON ON USE OF MORE THAN 5% MIXTURE OF BIODIESEL AND IS SAYING THAT THE REASON THEY ARE NOT COVERING THE PROBLEM IS THAT THERE IS RUST IN THE FUEL TANK. THE RUST IS A REACTION FROM THE FUEL IN A POORLY DESIGNED FUEL TANK. IF IT WERE A DIESEL FUEL PROBLEM THIS WOULD OCCUR IN DIFFERENT MAKES OF TRUCKS, NOT JUST FORD. THERE IS A HUGE PROBLEM, THAT IS NOT ONLY A SAFETY, BUT AN ENVIRONMENTAL ONE AS WELL. *TR

I OWN 4 DIESEL POWERED FORD E350 VANS. IN 2008 I HAVE HAD A FUEL TANK REPLACED IN A 2000 AND 2004 VAN. I DECIDED TO HAVE MY 2007 CHECKED AND FOUND THAT THE FUEL FILTERS WERE CLOGGED. I HAVE SPENT OVER $7000.00 SO FAR. ALTHOUGH FORD DID NOT REPLACE THE TANK IN MY 2007 I AM STARTING TO WONDER WHEN I WILL HAVE TO HAVE THIS DONE. I HAVE ONE OTHER 2000 THAT JUST STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS. I DON'T NEED TO SPEND ANOTHER $7000.00. I ASKED FOR ABOUT DELAMINATION BUT THEY SAID ITS THE FUEL I'M USING. I SAW THE FUEL FILTERS THAT CAME OUT OF THE VEHICLES AND IT WAS A GRAY/ SILVER MATERIAL. *TR

VEHICLE: 2005 CHINOOK GLACIER CLASS C R/V, 2004 FORD E450 CUTAWAY CHASSIS. APPLICABILITY: ALL MODEL YEARS OF CHINOOK GLACIER R/V AND POSSIBLY OTHER MODELS. HAZARD: FIRE/EXPLOSION. COMPONENT: FLEXIBLE PROPANE HOSE CONNECTING 2 DISTRIBUTION MANIFOLDS UNDER COACH IN VICINITY RIGHT REAR WHEEL WELL. HOSE IS ROUTED OUTBOARD AND FASTENED TO THE AXLE ARCH FRAME MEMBER BETWEEN THE FRAME AND THE RIGHT REAR SPRING. MINIMAL CLEARANCE BETWEEN SPRING AND HOSE ALLOWS SPRING AXLE MOUNTING HARDWARE TO ABRADE HOSE. THE HOSE ABRADED THROUGH AND BEGAN LEAKING. I NOTED PROPANE SMELL AND HEARD HISSING WHILE PREPARING FOR RECENT TRIP. THE LEAK WAS IN THE VICINITY OF THE EXHAUST PIPE, JUST FORWARD OF GAS GENERATOR AND IN VICINITY OF 55 GAL FUEL TANK. I BELIEVE THERE WAS LIKELIHOOD OF CATASTROPHIC EXPLOSION AND FIRE HAS THIS GONE UNNOTICED, PARTICULARLY IF PARKED AND GENERATOR RUNNING. CORRECTION REQUIRED REMOVAL OF RIGHT REAR DUALS TO ACCESS THE HOSE AND MOUNTING CLAMPS. HOSE REMOVED AND REPLACED WITH NEW HOSE AND FITTINGS MADE UP BY LOCAL PROPANE COMPANY SERVICE PERSONNEL. NEW HOSE WAS RE-ROUTED ABOVE FRAME MEMBER SO AS TO PREVENT ANY POSSIBILITY OF CONTACT WITH SPRING HARDWARE. I BELIEVE THAT MOVING TO INBOARD OF FRAME IS NOT IDEAL AS THAT IS WHERE THE ENGINE EXHAUST PIPE IS ROUTED. BETTER SOLUTION MAY BE TO REPLACE THE FLEXIBLE HOSE WITH METAL TUBING. I CAN SUPPLY PHOTOS OF DAMAGED HOSE AND ORIGINAL PLACEMENT AS WELL AS MY REPAIR AND RE-ROUTING. I BELIEVE THIS SHOULD BE A MANDATORY MANUFACTURER SAFETY RECALL, HOWEVER, MANUFACTURER IS OUT OF BUSINESS. I BELIEVE THERE IS A STRONG LIKELIHOOD OF PERSONAL INJURY OR DEATH AND MAJOR PROPERTY DAMAGE IF THIS IS NOT CORRECTED. *TR

Summary

VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED ON OR AROUND SEPTEMBER 2003. ON MAY OF 2005 WE BEGAN TO HAVE MULTIPLE PROBLEMS CONCERNING THIS VEHICLE. THE MOST SIGNIFICANT OF THESE PROBLEMS IS AIR CONDITIONING COMPRESSORS LOCKING UP AND BREAKING THE DRIVE BELT. THIS VEHICLE IS AN AMBULANCE SO A FAILURE COULD CONTRIBUTE TO THE DEATH OF A PATIENT. WE HAVE TRIED VARIOUS REPAIRS TO THIS VEHICLE AS IT HAS FALLEN OUT OF WARRANTY AT THIS TIME. FIRST WE REPLACED THE COMPRESSOR, ACCUMULATOR AND ORIFICE TUBE AND THE BELTS THEN FLUSHED THE SYSTEM. THE 2ND OCCURRENCE WE REPLACED THE COMPRESSOR, ACCUMULATOR AND ORIFICE TUBE THEN FLUSHED THE SYSTEM, THE 3RD OCCURRENCE WE REPLACED THE COMPRESSOR,CONDENSER, ACCUMULATOR AND ORIFICE TUBE THEN FLUSHED THE SYSTEM. AT THIS TIME WE TRIED PLACING EXTERNAL FANS TO HELP LOWER THE HEAD PRESSURES THEN REPLACED THE FAN CLUTCH WITH A SNOW PLOW FAN CLUTCH AS DIRECTED BY OUR FORD DEALER. THE 4TH INCIDENT WE REPLACED THE COMPRESSOR THEN EXTENDED THE EVACUATION PERIOD FOR FEAR OF A POSSIBLE OIL OVERCHARGE. THE 5TH OCCURANCE ON 10/25/2006 WE REPLACED THE COMPRESSOR,CONDENSER, ACCUMULATOR AND ORIFICE TUBE THEN FLUSHED THE SYSTEM. WE ARE NOW IN THE PROCESS OF TRYING A BETTER GRADE REFRIGERATION OIL IN PLACE OF THE USUAL PAG OIL. WE HAVE BEEN TRYING EVERYTHING WE CAN THINK OF TO COMBAT THIS PROBLEM WITH NO SUCCESS. *NM

ON JULY 25, 2005 AT @ 10:00AM [XXX] WAS OPERATING MY 2004 FORD EXPLORER XLT (4 DOOR) VIN NO.: [XXX]. SHE WAS INTENDING TO BACK OUT OF THE STONE DRIVEWAY OF HER RESIDENCE LOCATED AT [XXX].DUE TO IT BEING A STONE DRIVEWAY, IT IS HER PRACTICE TO INTIALLY PROCEED 1-2 FEET FORWARD, THEN PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE, SO AS TO NOT KICK UP ANY STONES. [XXX] PROCEEDED TO ENGAGE THE ACCELARATOR FOR THE PURPOSE OF TRAVELLING FORWARD 1-2 FEET. SHE THEN PUT HER FOOT ON THE BRAKE, WHILE PUTTING THE VEHICLE INTO REVERSE. ONCE SHE TOOK HER FOOT OFF OF THE BRAKE AND BEFORE SHE ENGAGED THE ACCELERATOR, THE EXPLORER SUDDENLY AND UNEXPECTEDLY SURGED BACKWARDS, OUT OF CONTROL. THE VEHICLE TRAVELLED OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY (@15-20 FT), THEN CONTINUED TO TRAVEL @75-100 FT. ACROSS THE STREET AND IMPACTED WITH A PARKED 4X4 TRUCK. DURING THIS TIME, [XXX] ATTEMPTED TO STOP THE VEHICLE BY PRESSING DOWN HARD ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. UNFORTUNATELY THIS DID NOT STOP THE VEHICLE IN MOTION. [XXX] THEN TRIED TO SHIFT THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL, WHICH DID NOT STOP THE VEHICLE, AS IT CONTINUED TO SURGE BACKWARDS, ACROSS THE STREET AND IMPACT WITH A PARKED 4X4 PICK-UP TRUCK. THIS IMPACT DID NOT SLOW DOWN THE EXPLORER, AS IT PROCEEDED TO FLIP THE PICK-UP TRUCK UPSIDE DOWN AND FINALLY CAME TO REST DIRECTLY ON TOP OF THE PICK-UP TRUCK WITH ALL FOUR WHEELS SPINNING AND THE ENGINE RACING. THE EXPLORER SUSTAINED @$6,000.00 IN PD AND IS BEING SERVICED BY SUPERIOR AUTO BODY/MANASQUAN, NJ. SUPERIOR AUTO BODY HAS CONTACTED FORD MOTOR COMPANY TO HAVE A SPECIALIST INVESTIGATE THE ACCELERATOR MALFUNCTION. THE EXPLORER MUST BE TAKEN TO FORD DEALERSHIP LOCATED AT 700 SHREWSBURY AVE., RED BANK, NJ. I AM AWAITING THE RESULTS OF THIS INVESTIGATION. FROM THE VERY FIRST DAY WE OWNED OUR BRAND NEW FORD E-350 DIESEL CUBE VAN WE HAVE HAD AN ONGOING DRIVABILTY PROBLEM. THE ENGINE CUTS OUT WHILE DRIVING ALMOST COMING TO A STALL AND SPITS BLACK OR BLUE SMOKE OUT OF THE TAIL PIPE. WE HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP FIVE TIMES TO DATE TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM FIXED. THE DEALERSHIP CANNOT FIND THE PROBLEM. WE HAVE TRIED TO TAKE THE TRUCK TO A DIFFERENT DEALER, BUT THEY SAY THEY CANNOT FIX IT BECAUSE ANOTHER DEALER HAS ALREADY WORKED ON THE TRUCK AND GOT PAID, SO WE HAVE TO TAKE IT BACK TO THEM. WE USE THIS TRUCK FOR BUSINESS AND HAVE HAD TO RENT A TRUCK SEVERAL TIMES TO TAKE THE TRUCK IN AND FIND THE NEXT DAY THAT IT IS STILL NOT FIXED. WE ARE OUT $400.05 THAT WE BELIEVE EITHER THE DEALERSHIP OR FORD SHOULD REIMBURSE US FOR. I CALLED THE FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE LINE AND WAS BASICALLY TOLD THAT RENTAL REIMBURSEMENTS ARE NOT COVERED IN THE WARRANTY. SHOULD WE BE RESPOSIBLE FOR HAVING TO PAY THESE FEES? WE BOUGHT A BRAND NEW TRUCK SO WE WOULD NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM.IT IS ALSO NOT OUR FAULT THE DEALERSHIP CANNOT FIND THE PROBLEM. WE HAVE BEEN MORE THAN PATIENT AND FEEL WE SHOULD GET OUR TRUCK FIXED PROPERLY AND BE REIMBURSED FOR OUR LOSSES. WE SEE THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL ON OUR VEHICLE AND STILL HAVE NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. WHICH ONLY MEANS ONCE AGAIN WE HAVE TO PAY TO RENT A TRUCK WHILE OURS GOES IN FOR REPAIRS, WITH NO GUARENTEE THAT IT WILL GET FIXED THAT TIME EITHER.

WE PURCHASED OUR 2004 FORD EXPEDITION IN JULY, TOOK IT TO FLORIDA ON VACATION AND WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE IT STARTED SHUDDERING. WHEN WE FINALLY GOT IT STOPPED (THE BRAKES JUST WOULDN'T WORK) WE CHECKED FOR A FLAT TIRE - NOTHING. THE NEXT OCCURANCE WAS THE FIRST WEEK OF SEPTEMBER, WE TOOK IT INOT THE DEALER, THEY FOUND A DIAGNOSTIC CODE AND DID SOMETHING TO IT. IT HAPPENED SEVERAL MORE TIMES. WE CONTINUED TO TAKE IT IN.. THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND A DIAGNOSTIC CODE. ON MARCH 16TH, THE DAY BEFORE IT WAS SCHEDULED TO GO IN FOR THIS AGAIN, I DROVE OVER A ROUGH SPOT ON THE STREET, AND ONCE AGAIN, IT STARTED SHUDDERING. I IMMEDIATELY PUT THE BRAKES ON - I WAS STANDING ON THEM - TO NO AVAIL - A BLOCK AND A HALF AFTER IT STARTED SHUDDERING, AND EXCELLERATING, I HIT A TRUCK AND INJURED MY NECK. WHEN I CONTACTED FORD MOTOR COMPANY THE FIRST TIME, THEY BLEW ME OFF. THE SECOND TIME, THE GUY JUST ASKED WHY I CALLED AGAIN. I TOLD THEM SOME ONE WAS GOING TO GET KILLED, AND I WANTED THIS FIXED. AFTER TALKING TO SEVERAL FRIENDS, I FOUND OUT THAT SEVERAL OTHER PEOPLE HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME THING. THE SERVICE MANAGER AT THE DEALER ASKED FOR THE VIN NUMBERS OF THE OTHERS. I AM IN THE PROCESS OF GETTING THEM ALL FOR HIM. DUE TO THE LACK OF RESPONSE FROM FORD, I HAVE TURNED IT OVER TO AN ATTORNEY.
