I PURCHASED 4 NEW TIRES FOR MY 2004 NISSAN 350Z, THEY ARE THE FALKEN PRO G5 SPORT A/S TIRES P225/45R18 ON THE FRONT. 245/45/R18 ON THE REAR ON 2/06/19 THE MILEAGE IN WAS 16,292. ON 1/15/20 I TOOK THE CAR OUT AND THE CAR WAS BOUNCING ALL OVER THE ROAD, I TOOK IT BACK TO DISCOUNT TIRES IN LAS VEGAS NEVADA ON THAT SAME DAY AND THEY SAID IT WAS THE BALANCE OF THE TIRES. WHEN THE TECHNICIAN TRIED TO BALANCE THE TIRES HE SAID THEY ARE OFF BY OVER 1 OUNCE. ANOTHER TECH CAME AND TRIED TO BALANCE THE TIRES AND FOUND A BULGE ON ALL 4 TIRES AND OPTED TO REPLACE THEM ALL,I ONLY HAD 69 MILES ON THE TIRES! I HAVE TO SAY IN ALL MY YEARS I HAVE NEVER SEEN TIRES DEVELOP BULGES LIKE THESE AND ALL 4 NEEDING REPLACEMENT WITH ONLY 69 MILES ON THEM! I AM VERY NERVOUS WITH THESE TIRES BEING THAT THEY ARE INSTALLED ON A NISSAN 350Z WITH THE POWER THE VEHICLE HAS.

HAPPENED IN THE DRIVEWAY, FORTUNATELY. WHEN THE CLUTCH PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, IT STAYED DOWN, AND IN GEAR. IT WAS DIFFICULT TO FORCE THE CAR OUT OF GEAR. I WAS THEN ABLE TO MANUALLY LIFT THE PEDAL, AND PUMP IT SOFTLY TO MAKE IT STAY UP. THIS HAS NOT HAPPENED SINCE. IT IS A HYDRAULIC CLUTCH' NO LEAKS, AND CLUTCH REPLACED 2 YEARS AGO. THE CAR HAS BEEN WELL MAINTAINED WITH ONLY 55K MILES ON IT. LOOKING ON THE INTERNET I SEE THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM, AND VERY UNSAFE IF YOU ARE DRIVING AND CAN'T GET IT OUT OF GEAR.

I HAVE HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE NEUTRAL SAFETY SWITCH CAUSING THE CAR TO PERIODICALLY NOT START. A MECHANIC MADE A PREVIOUS DIAGNOSIS BUT SAID THERE WERE NO SAFETY CONCERNS. THE CAR EVENTUALLY WOULD START ALL, REQUIRING DOWNTIME FOR REPAIR. SOMETIMES AFTER SITTING OVER NIGHT AND SOMETIMES AFTER SEVERAL ERRANDS THE CAR WON'T START BUT NEVER THIS SUDDEN STALL. TODAY, THE CAR STALLED WHILE I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF SLOWING DOWN TO MAKE A LEFT HAND TURN. IT WAS A TWO LANE MOUNTAIN ROAD. CARS WERE ABLE TO GET AROUND ME WITHOUT INCIDENT AND I WAS ABLE TO COAST BACKWARDS TO A PLACE OF SAFETY. I LET THE CAR SIT FOR ABOUT 10 MIN. WHICH IS MY USUALLY WHAT I DO WHEN IT WON'T START. PUT IT IN NEUTRAL AFTER RELEASING THE LOCKED GEAR SHIFT, WITH FOOT ON THE BREAK, STARTED THE CAR. I AM THANKFUL THAT I HADN'T YET MERGED ONTO THE FREEWAY. *TR

MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING IN ORLANDO WHEN HER CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THE SLIP CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON AND THE ENGINE LOST POWER AND STALLED. WE HAD TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED TO AN ORLANDO NISSAN DEALER. THEY DIAGNOSED IT AS THE CAMSHAFT AND CRANKSHAFT SENSORS AND WE HAD TO HAVE IT FIXED AT A COST OF $815.65. I RECENTLY CONTACTED NISSAN ABOUT THIS AS I SAW THERE WAS A NISSAN RECALL (NO. R2022) ON THE CAMSHAFT AND CRANKSHAFT SENSORS. HOWEVER, NISSAN INFORMED ME THAT MY CAR WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AS THE RECALL WAS FOR 2003 VEHICLES. THEY STATED THE RECALL WAS VIN SPECIFIC. I BELIEVE IT SHOULD BE SYMPTOM SPECIFIC AS THE SYMPTOMS OF THE VEHICLE IN THIS INCIDENT WERE EXACTLY THE SAME AS WHAT WAS DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL. *TR

THE GAS GAUGE DOES NOT SHOW FULL WHEN THE TANK IS FULL. THIS IS CAUSED BY FAULTY SENSORS IN THE TWO TANKS WHICH NISSAN REFUSES TO ADMIT. I ALONG WITH HUNDREDS OF OTHERS ON ONLINE FORUMS HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE AND HAVE TO SPEND MONEY OUT OF OUR POCKETS ALTHOUGH THIS IS CLEARLY A DEFECT. IT SEEMS TO BE WITH THE 2003/2004 MODELS. IT CAUSES THE DRIVERS TO NOT KNOW HOW MUCH GAS IS IN THE TANK AND AT TIMES LEAVING THEM STRANDED BECAUSE THE GAS HAS RAN OUT. *TR

THOUSAND OF REPORTED CASES OF NOT BEING ABLE TO FUEL UP THE NISSAN 350Z. THE PROBLEM SOURCE IS THE FILLER NECK SHUTTER VALVE. NISSAN IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE FOR YEARS AND HAVE BEEN MAKING CUSTOMER FOOT THE $400-$500 BILL INSTEAD OF TAKING ACTION ON THE FAULTY PART. THE FAULTY SHUTTER VALVE CAUSES FUEL TO SPEW OUT WHILE FILLING THE TANK COVERING THE CAR AND OPERATOR IN FUEL. THE RISKY PART IS PEOPLE ARE CHANGING THE WAY THEY FILL TO TRY TO BYPASS THE ACTION OF THE SHUTTER VALVE BUT ALSO WORKS AGAINST THE SAFETY FEATURES OF THE GASOLINE NOZZLE CAUSING IT TO NOT SHUT OFF WHEN FUEL REACHES MAX. I PERSONALLY CANT ONLY GET 7 GALLONS IN MY CAR BEFORE IT SPRAYS OUT WHICH IS VERY ANNOYING SINCE I HAVE TO FIGHT TO ADD 7 GALLONS OF FUEL EVERYOTHER DAY. I FOUGHT WITH THIS ISSUE IN MY 2003 350Z AND MY 04. IT IS EXTREMELY COMMON AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED YEARS AGO. *TT

THE FUEL GAUGE RANDOMLY REPORTS DIFFERENT FUEL LEVELS EACH TIME THE IGNITION IS TURNED ON. MORE THAN 50 PERCENT OF 2003-2007 NISSAN'S HAVE ISSUES WITH POWER WINDOWS, EVEN HIGHER PERCENTAGE WITH THE 350Z. STILL NO RECALLS HAVE BEEN ISSUED, IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE SHOULD THE DOOR BE JAMMED THE NEXT ESCAPE ROUTE WOULD BE THREW THE WINDOW. IF THE WINDOW IS NOT OPERATING THEN YOU HAVE A VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM. ALSO IN THE CASE THAT THE CAR IS SUBMERGED IN WATER ALL POWER WINDOWS ARE FUNCTIONAL FOR ABOUT 30 SECONDS BUT NOT IF THEY ARE CONSTANTLY GETTING STUCK. I HAVE BROUGHT MY 2004 NISSAN 350Z FOR THE SAME REPAIR OF THE DRIVER SIDE POWER WINDOW HALF A DOZEN TIMES WHILE UNDER WARRANTY. ALL THEY MADE WAS ADJUSTMENTS AND OPERATED NORMAL FOR A COUPLE OF MONTHS AND THEN BACK TO THE SAME ISSUES TIME AND TIME AGAIN. IT'S ABOUT TIME THEY START REPLACING PARTS BY A RECALL PROCESS. I HOPE THIS DOES NOT FALL ON DEAF EARS. [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR

I HAVE A 2004 350Z NISSAN I BOUGHT USED IN 2007 @ 16K MILES. I'M UNABLE TO FILL THE FUEL TANK COMPLETELY. APPARENTLY THE FUEL NOZZLE SENSOR DETECTS THE TANK AS FILLED WHEN IT IS NOT. BEFORE TANK FUEL GAUGE SHOWS 3/4 FILLED @ 12-13 GALLONS WHEN NOZZLE SHUTS OFF RANDOMLY. OTHERWISE I COULD FILL UP NO PROBLEM. HOWEVER, NOW IT'S ONLY ALLOWING ABOUT 1/2 TANK TO FILL (ABOUT 7 GALLONS) CONSISTENTLY. I'M HAVING TO REFUEL SEVERAL TIMES IN ANY GIVEN WEEK. NOTHING HAS BEEN REPLACED ON THE CAR YET, BUT I UNDERSTAND THAT THERE WAS A RECALL THAT I WAS UNAWARE OF. *TR

THE FUEL GAUGE IN MY 2004 NISSAN 350Z FLUCTUATES UP AND DOWN. IT HAPPENS AFTER FUELING, AND UPON DRIVING THE CAR. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO 2 DIFFERENT NISSAN SERVICE DEPTS. FOR REPAIR. THE FIRST TIME, THEY SAID IT WAS A FAULTY FUEL SENSOR, AND REPLACED IT. THEY SAID IT WAS FIXED, BUT WHEN I DROVE IT, THE GAUGE FLUCTUATED AGAIN. TOOK IT BACK, BUT THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT AND COULDN'T DO ANYTHING ELSE SINCE THERE WERE NO CODES COMING FROM THE COMPUTER. SO TOOK MY CAR TO A 2ND NISSAN SERV. DEPT AND THEY SAID THEY FIXED IT BY REPLACING THE OTHER FUEL SENSOR (SINCE THERE ARE 2), BUT STILL FAULTY. I DO NOT KNOW HOW MUCH GAS I HAVE IN MY TANK AT ANYTIME. IT IS MOST DANGEROUS WHILE DRIVING AND THE FUEL TANK EMPTY WARNING LIGHT SUDDENLY COMES ON, AFTER THE GAUGE HAD JUST REFLECTED THAT THERE WAS PLENTY OF FUEL. *TT

PURCHASED NEW FROM A LOCAL DEALER IN NOVEMBER OF 2004, AFTER SEARCHING ALL OF THE DEALERS IN CENTRAL FLORIDA FOR THE Z THAT HAD THE TRIM AND SAFETY PACKAGE THAT WE WANTED. BEGINNING IN 2007, THE VEHICLE HAS HAD ONGOING PROBLEMS WITH THE AIRBAG LIGHT / AIRBAGS / DIAGNOSTIC UNIT: 08/08/07 - AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON - ?FALSE CODE? 08/14/08 - AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON - ?ORDERED LEFT SIDE AIRBAG? 08/27/08 - ?REPLACED FAILED LEFT AIRBAG UNIT? 11/11/08 - AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON - ?FOUND PASS CODES CLEAR ALL OK? 05/03/10 - AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON - ?NEEDS DIAG UNIT AND PASS SIDE CURTAIN AIR BAG? 06/22/10 - ?REPLACED DIAG UNIT AND RH SIDE MODULE? 11/08/10 - AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON - ?RECOMMEND LH FRONT SIDE AIR BAG AND DIAGNOSIS SENSOR? WE WERE TOLD BY OUR DEALER THAT THE DIAGNOSIS SENSOR WOULD BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE IT WAS LESS THAN FIVE MONTHS SINCE IT HAD BEEN REPLACED, BUT THAT WE WOULD NEED TO PAY OVER $700 FOR THE AIRBAG TO BE REPLACED. LOGIC TELLS US THAT THE AIRBAG MAY NOT NEED TO BE REPLACED IF THE DIAGNOSIS SENSOR IS BAD, BUT OUR LOCAL DEALER IS TELLING US THAT NISSAN WILL NOT ALLOW THE DIAGNOSIS SENSOR TO BE REPLACED WITHOUT ALSO REPLACING THE AIRBAG. LOGIC ALSO TELLS US THAT, UNLIKE OTHER PARTS, THE AIRBAGS ARE NOT ?WEARING? ITEMS THAT REQUIRE MAINTENANCE OR REPLACEMENT (UNLESS THEY DEPLOY, OF COURSE), SO WHY DO THEY NEED REPLACING? WE CONTACTED NISSAN USA AND ASKED THAT THE FAULTY DIAGNOSIS SENSOR BE REPLACED WITH ONE THAT WILL WORK FOR LONGER THAN FIVE MONTHS, AND WILL STOP GIVING FALSE CODES. WE ALSO ASKED NISSAN TO REPLACE THE AIRBAG AT NO COST TO US BECAUSE IT IS THEIR 'REQUIREMENT'. THIS MORNING, A REGIONAL REPRESENTATIVE FROM NISSAN USA FINALLY CONTACTED US, AND WE WERE TOLD THAT WE WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE AIRBAG IF WE WANTED THE FAULTY DIAGNOSIS SENSOR REPLACED! OUR CONCERN IS FOR OUR SAFETY. WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF WE HAVE AN ACCIDENT? WILL ANY OF THE AIRBAGS DEPLOY?? *LN

WHEN I TURN THE CAR ON AND OFF IT STARTS OFF AT EMPTY AND WILL SLOWLY MAKE IT WAY UP TO WHAT EVER IT WANTS THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN GOING ON WITH THESE CAR FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS BUT NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE FROM NISSAN. SO I NEVER REALLY KNOW HOW MUCH GAS I REALLY HAVE I THINKS A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM TO HAVE BECAUSE WHAT ABOUT IF YOU NEED TO PULL OUT INTO TRAFFIC AND YOUR CAR CUT'S OFF BECAUSE IT HAS NO GAS. GAME OVER RIGHT!!! *TR

Summary

THERE IS SOMETHING IN THE CLUTCH SYSTEM THAT IS CAUSING THE CLUTCH AND OTHER PARTS TO BURN FAST AND EARLIER THAN USUAL. THE PREVIOUS OWNER OF MY 2004 NISSAN 350Z HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. 2 NEW CLUTCHES AT $2,500 EACH BY THE TIME IT HIT 35,000 MILES. I BOUGHT THE CAR NOT KNOWING ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND THE CLUTCH COMPLETELY BURNED OUT WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. LUCKILY I WAS NOT IN THE FAST LANE LIKE I USUALLY AM AND WAS ABLE TO SAFELY PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I PAID $2,500 TO REPLACE THE CLUTCH PARTS AGAIN. IT IS NOW LESS THAN 3 YEARS LATER AND IT IS HAPPENING AGAIN. NISSAN DEALER CLAIMS THIS MUST BE USER ERROR AND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE SYSTEM YET AGREES THAT IS VERY HARD TO BURN A CLUTCH THAT FAST AS AN EXPERIENCED MANUAL TRANSMISSION DRIVER. I'VE FOUND OTHERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM BUT NO RESOLUTION. *TR

I WAS TOLD, BY THE DEALER, THAT THE AIRBAGS ON MY 2004 NISSAN 350Z WILL NO LONGER WORK UNLESS I REPLACE THE LEFT AND RIGHT MODULES AND SENSOR AT AN APPROX COST OF $1700. NISSAN IS NO LONGER WILLING TO WARRANTY THE ARIBAGS, SINCE THE CAR HAS 116,000 MILES (PER 2/5/10 CALL FROM CONSUMER AFFAIRS DIVISION). THEIR WTY IS 60 MOS OR 60K MILES; HOWEVER, THE SEAT BELT WTY IS 120 MOS. OR 120K MILES. THE AIRBAGS ARE A SAFETY ISSUE THAT ARE JUST AS IMPORTANT IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH AS SEAT BELTS. THEY HAVE NEVER BEEN DEPLOYED. I SUGGESTED NISSAN RECONSIDER THE AIR BAG WTY AND ASSIST ME WITH GETTING THIS ($1700) ISSUE RESOLVED AS I CANNOT AFFORD TO. THEY DECLINED MY OFFER. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THE CAR IF THE AIR BAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH. I AM TRYING TO PROACTIVELY AVOID SERIOUS INJURY OR A FATALITY IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH. *CN

AND MY WARRANTY WONT COVER IT THEY SAID GO TO THE DEALER. POWER NIACIN OF CHANDLER ARIZONA IS WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE . MY QUESTION IS .... IF A DEALER HAS A VEHICLE THAT THEY ARE SELLING AND IT HAS A SERVICE BULLETIN ON IT ABOUT THE WHEELS , SHOULDN'T THEY REPLACE THE WHEELS BEFORE SELLING THE CAR TO SOMEONE ? , WHEN MY LEFT REAR WHEEL SEPARATED FROM ALL THE SPOKES I WAS TRAVELING WEST BOUND ON THE I-10 AROUND BUCKEYE AZ, THE SPEED LIMIT IS 75 MPH THERE. IF I DID NOT CATCH THIS RIGHT AWAY I WOULD HAVE LOST THAT RIM AND THE DAMAGE COULD HAVE POSSIBLY COST ME MY LIFE. *TR

I WAS INVOLVED IN A NEAR FATAL AUTO ACCIDENT, WHICH NISSAN DIDN'T REPORT TO THE DEATH AND INJURY REPORTS DONE EVERY QUARTER PER ANNUAL YEAR. THE ACCIDENT ALMOST LEFT ME PARALYZED AND I BROKE OVER 6 BONES IN VARIOUS BODY PART LOCATIONS DUE TO THE CAR NOT LIVING UP TO THE "SAFETY" FEATURES THE MAKER BOASTED TO HAVE WHICH FALSELY LEAD ME TO BUY THE CAR AND NEARLY KILLED ME DURING AN ACCIDENT, AT NO FAULT OF MINE. THE ACCIDENT WAS ON 1-18-2006, THE VEHICLE A TOTAL LOSS, AND OCCURRED IN ARIZONA ON INTERSTATE 51 IN PHOENIX AZ. I WAS REAR ENDED, WHILE SITTING IN TRAFFIC PILE-UP DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. THE OTHER DRIVER WAS ESTIMATED TO BE DRIVING UPON IMPACT AT 43 MPH. I HAD MY SEALTBELT ON, WHICH BROKE MY COLLARBONE, AND A RIB. I ALSO RUPTURED A SILICONE BREAST IMPLANT FROM THE FORCE OF THE CAR INTO THE STEERING WHEEL. THE AIR BAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY, THE LEG AND FEET COMPARTMENT FOR THE DRIVER AREA CAUSED ONE FOOT I HAD ON THE BRAKE, TO BREAK THE SESSAMOID BONE; THE RT KNEE WAS THROWN INTO THE STEERING COLUMN AND I BROKE MY PATELLA AND TORE MY MENISCUS. BOTH REQUIRED SURGERY, BOTH ON OPPOSITE LEGS. I REQUIRED SURGERY FOR THE RUPTURED IMPLANT. MY NECK WAS FRACTURED AND THE BLOW AND WHIPLASH FROM THE INADEQUATE HEAD RESTRAINT CAUSED VERTIGO FOR NEARLY 3 MONTHS. I SUFFERED BRAIN BRUISING AND SWELLING FROM HITTING MY HEAD AGAINST THE HEADREST AFTER BEING THRUST FORWARD WITHOUT AN AIRBAG TO CUSHION THE JOLTING OF THE NECK AND SPINE. MY THORACIC SPINE WAS FRACTURED, AND REMAINS THAT WAY SINCE I'VE OPTED NOT TO HAVE SURGERY. THE LUMBAR SPINE HAS A RUPTURED DISK AND DEVELOPED A MASS FROM THE IMPACT BLUNT FORCE TRAUMA THAT DEVELOPED FROM THE OTHER DRIVERS CAR HITTING MY REAR END OF THE CAR AND THE SEAT THRUSTING ALL THE CONTENTS OF THE VEHICLES STRUCTURE INTO THE SEAT BEHIND WHERE I SAT. I HAD SURGERY ON THE REMOVAL OF THE MASS AND THE LUMBAR SPINE REPAIR 3 TIMES. MY LIFE WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED AS A RESULT OF THE FALSE MISLEADING CLAIMS THE NISSAN MANUFACTURER AND DEALER CLAIMED. *TR

Summary

WHILE DRIVING ON A WINDING STRETCH OF A TWO LANE HIGHWAY MY 350Z WENT INTO AN UNEXPECTED 360 DEGREE SPIN. IT WAS A LITTLE MISTY OUTSIDE. THE ROAD WAS DAMP, BUT NOT WET. THE TEMPERATURE WAS IN THE LOW 40'S DEG F. I WAS TRAVELING AT ABOUT 45 MPH IN A 45 MPH ZONE. I HAD JUST BARELY STARTED INTO AN AVERAGE LEFT TURN (I.E., NOT A TIGHT TURN) WHEN THE CAR STARTED TO SPIN. I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR, BUT DID NOT BRAKE. I TURNED THE STEERING WHEEL OPPOSITE OF THE DIRECTION OF THE SPIN, BUT THE CAR DID NOT STRAIGHTEN OUT. WHEN IT APPEARED I WAS GOING TO RUN INTO THE SIDE OF MOUNTAIN HEAD ON, I TURNED THE STEERING WHEEL IN THE DIRECTION OF THE SPIN, WHICH, AS EXPECTED, CAUSED IT TO SPIN A LITTLE FASTER. THE CAR ENDED UP ON THE SHOULDER OF THE OPPOSITE LANE. FORTUNATELY, I DIDN'T HIT ANYTHING. I CHECKED THE TIRES AFTERWARD AND THEY APPEARED NORMAL. I WENT BACK OVER THE SECTION OF ROAD, BUT SAW NOTHING UNUSUAL. THIS HAPPENED ABOUT THREE WEEKS AGO. I HAVEN'T NOTICED ANYTHING SINCE THEN, BUT I HAVEN'T PUSHED IT EITHER. TO ME IT SEEMS THIS SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED AND THAT EVEN IF IT DID, THE DYNAMIC STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM SHOULD HAVE STRAIGHTENED THE CAR OUT. I HAVE OWNED THIS CAR FOR MORE THAN 4 YEARS. FROM MY EXPERIENCE UNDER NORMAL CIRCUMSTANCES I SHOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO EASILY HAVE NEGOTIATED THIS TURN AT LEAST 15 MPH FASTER THAN I WAS DRIVING. THIS IS A ROAD THAT I TRAVEL OFTEN. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND GAVE THEM COPIES OF SIMILAR NHTSA COMPLAINTS FOR THIS CAR. THE DEALER WAS UNAWARE OF A GENERIC PROBLEM THAT WOULD CAUSE THIS PROBLEM. THE DEALER WILL CHECK WITH THE NISSAN REP AND GET BACK TO ME. *TR

Summary

WHILE MAKING A NORMAL LEFT TURN THROUGH AN INTERSECTION MY CAR BEGAN TO SPIN. AFTER A COMPLETE 360 DEGREE SPIN AND SMACK INTO A CURB, THERE WAS SLIGHT DAMAGE TO LEFT REAR EXTERIOR WHEEL WELL. THIS ALIGNMENT ISSUE AND PREMATURE TIRE WEAR PROBLEM NEEDS TO BE RECTIFIED. SOMEONE HAS TO DO SOMETHING. UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS TO DO A COMPLETE 360 SPIN OUT IS RIDICULOUS. I AM LUCKY NO ONE SMACKED INTO ME AFTER I STOPPED. I HAVE HAD MY TIRES REPLACED TWICE ON THE RIGHT REAR AND ONCE ON THE LEFT REAR BECAUSE OF THE INNER TIRE WEAR. I HAVE HAD AN ALIGNMENT DONE ALSO. ALL THIS WAS PRIOR TO MY SPIN OUT. SOMETHING IS NOT RIGHT WITH THIS CAR. ANY ANSWERS, SOLUTIONS, RECOMMENDATIONS? I HAVE READ NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ON THIS SITE ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM I AM HAVING. ARE YOU EVEN DOING ANYTHING WITH THESE COMPLAINTS? FROM WHAT EVERYONE ELSE HAS WRITTEN, NO ONE HAS DONE A THING. THERE ARE NO RECALLS OR ANYTHING FOR THIS ISSUE. PLEASE ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM IMMEDIATELY BEFORE SOMEONE WINDS UP GETTING HURT FROM THIS. OBVIOUSLY THE DEALERSHIP WONT DO A THING IT WILL BE WAY TOO COSTLY FOR THEM. BUT FOR MINE AND THE REST OF THE DRIVERS ON THE ROADS SAFETY, MAKE SOMETHING HAPPEN. GIVE US A RECALL TO FIX THIS ONGOING PROBLEM. ITS BEEN ALMOST 6 YEARS AND STILL NO SOLUTION. Summary

I WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT WHICH WAS VERY SIMILAR TO ONE I HAD 2 YEARS AGO IN THE SAME CAR, ONLY I DO NOT REMEMBER AS MUCH AS I DO FROM THE FIRST ONE. THE FIRST ACCIDENT OCCURRED APPROXIMATELY AUGUST OF 2006. I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY IN VERY LIGHT TRAFFIC, WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN MY CAR STARTED TO FISH-TAIL. I WAS ON THE FAST LANE AND HIT THE CENTER DIVIDER AND SPUN AND HIT IT AGAIN. I MANAGED TO GET OVER TO THE SHOULDER WITHOUT HITTING ANYONE OR ANYONE HITTING ME. MY CAR WAS CRASHED ON THE LEFT SIDE MAINLY NEAR LEFT TIRE AND THE BUMPER, SOME DAMAGE WAS ON THE LEFT REAR TIRE AS WELL. I HAD THE CAR REPAIRED AND THE TIRES WERE CHANGED. THE SECOND ACCIDENT I DO NOT REMEMBER AS MUCH BECAUSE THE IMPACT WAS STRONGER AND IT KNOCKED ME UNCONSCIOUS AND IT WAS RAINING. THE DAMAGE ON THE CAR WAS VERY SIMILAR TO THE FIRST ACCIDENT ONLY THERE IS ALOT MORE BODY DAMAGE. THE HIGHWAY PATROL SAID THAT I HAD HIT THE CENTER DIVIDER AND SPUN. THE CAR IS NOT SAFE AT ALL AND THERE IS A NO REASON THAT A SPORTS CAR SHOULD BE FISH-TAILING OR LOSE TREADING IN THE RAIN. THESE CARS SHOULD BE MADE RESISTANT TO SUCH WEATHER AND SHOULD TIRES SHOULD NOT BE BALDING SO QUICKLY. THE 2003 AND 2004 NISSANS HAVE HAD RECALLS FOR PREMATURE FEATHERING/WEATHERING OF THE TIRES. THE TIRES TEND TO START BALDING TOO SOON, THUS CAUSING NOT ENOUGH TRACTION. THIS CLEARLY WOULD CAUSE THE CAR TO FISH-TAIL. *TR

I PURCHASED A NEW 350Z CAR FROM ANTIOCH (CALIFORNIA) NISSAN DEALERSHIP IN 2004 WITH CHROMED ALLOY WHEELS. IN ADDITION, I PURCHASED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. NISSAN CORPORATION HAS ISSUED BULLETINS TO THE DEALERSHIP NOT TO CHROME ALLOY WHEELS FOR SAFETY AND PERFORMANCE REASONS. I WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THIS STATUS...ONLY AFTER THE ACCIDENT DID THE VACAVILLE SERVICE MANAGER GIVE ME A COPY OF THEIR BULLETIN DATED 9/07. I'VE HAD MY CAR OVER A YEAR WITHOUT ANY PROBLEM. I REPLACED THE REAR TIRES FIVE WEEKS AGO (NOT THE FRONTS, WHICH TREAD DEPTH WAS FINE), WITH THE SAME SIZE TIRES AS THE STOCK RUBBER. IN THE PAST TWO WEEKS THE FRONT BRAKES STARTED LOCKING AND RELEASING, LOCKING AND RELEASING, BUT IT'S ONLY BEEN ON FREEWAY RAMPS, ON AN INCLINE OR DECLINE, AND IN A CURVE. IT MAKES WHAT I DESCRIBE AS A GROANING SOUND, WHICH I ASSOCIATE WITH THE BRAKE PADS CLAMPING DOWN, CAUSING A REVERBERATION IN THE WHOLE ASSEMBLY. THE "SLIP" LIGHT IN THE DASH COMES ON WHEN IT OCCURS. AT FIRST IT ONLY SEEMED TO BE THE RIGHT, FRONT, BUT IT JUST STARTED DOING IT ON THE LEFT, FRONT AS WELL. I LIVE IN FLORIDA, SO SNOW IS NOT AN ISSUE. IT'S DONE IT ON WET AND DRY ROADS, ALTHOUGH MY HEART POUNDS MORE WHEN IT'S ON A WET ROAD AND THE FRONT END SLIDES IN A CURVE. I'VE ONLY APPLIED MODERATE BRAKE PRESSURE, NOT NEARLY ENOUGH TO CAUSE THE ANTILOCK BRAKE SYSTEM TO ACT. THE DEALER EVALUATED THE CAR TODAY AND STATED NO "CODES" CAME UP ON THEIR COMPUTER DIAGNOSTIC, AND THEY STATED THE BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS, AND BRAKES GENERALLY WERE IN GOOD WORKING ORDER. SO, NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO CHANGE THE PROBLEM. MY THEORY IS THAT THE VDC (VEHICLE DYNAMIC CONTROL) SYSTEM IS FLAWED, AND ACTUALLY CAUSES THE BRAKES TO LOCK, CAUSING AN UNCONTROLLED SLIDE/SKID THAT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. THE BRAKES LOCK ONLY FOR MAYBE A SECOND WITH EACH LOCK, RELEASE, THEN LOCK, AND RELEASE. HOWEVER, A FULL SECOND OF LOCKED BRAKES IS A LONG TIME IN TRAFFIC, IN A CURVE. THERE IS A POSTING AT WWW.350ZMOTORING.COM BY USERNAME GILVALAS FROM 2/10/03, WHICH SOUNDS SIMILAR TO MY COMPLAINT. *NM

I PURCHASED A BRAND NEW 2004 NISSAN 350Z ON DECEMBER 20TH, 2004. THE CAR HAD 12 MILES ON IT AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE, I HAVE BEEN THE SOLE OWNER OF THE VEHICLE. ANYWAY I JUST WANT TO REPORT A PROBLEM THAT THE MANUFACTURE JUST DOESN'T WANT TO ADMIT OR DEAL WITH. BASICALLY I STARTED HAVING IDLE ISSUE SOMEWHERE IN THE SPRING OF 2005 WITH ROUGHLY 3000 MILES ON THE CAR. THE CAR WOULD START TO DEVELOP A ROUGH IDLE WITH THE AC OFF. WHEN I FIRST NOTICED THE PROBLEM AND CONTACTED THE NISSAN, THEY TRIED TO TELL ME ITS NORMAL AS THE 350Z IS THEIR "SPORTS CAR". NOT BELIEVE IN WHAT THEY SAID, I STARTED LOOKING AT OTHER 350Z AND OTHER NISSAN THAT USE THE SAME ENGINE FOR THE SAME ISSUE. IT TURNS OUT I COULDN'T FIND ANY WITH THE PROBLEM, I HAVE HAD TO LIVE WITH THE "SPORTS CAR" NOT IDLING PROBLEM SINCE THEN. WHEN I CONTACTED NISSAN ABOUT IT TIME AFTER TIME, THEY EVENTUALLY BLACKLISTED ME AND NOT RETURN ANY OF MY PHONE CALL. A COMPLAINT WITH THE BBB WAS NO HELP NEITHER. THE PROBLEM CONTINUED TO GET WORSE UNTIL NOVEMBER 16TH WHEN THE CAR STALLED FOR THE FIRST TIME UNDER THE ROUGH IDLE. THE CAR WAS RUNNING AND WAS SITTING AT THE STOP LIGHT. AFTER A FEW SECONDS OF ROUGH IDLING, THE ENGINE JUST GAVE OUT AND DIED ON THE SPOT. IT REFIRED RIGHT AFTER, BUT IT WAS POTENTIALLY HAZARDOUS AS THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN RIGHT WHEN IT STALLED. I WAS LUCKY NOT TO BE CRUSH BY THE CARS BEHIND ME ON THAT INSTANCE. SINCE THEN, THE PROBLEM POP UP FROM TIME TO TIME, I WOULD SAY A TOTAL OF 10 TIMES IN THE PAST THREE MONTHS. CAN YOU PLEASE HELP, THE PROBLEM IS NOT SAFE AS THE CAR COULD JUST DIE ANY SECOND. PLEASE CALL ME AT [XXX] IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS. (THE CAR DOESN'T STALL ALL THE TIME, BUT THE BAD IDLE IS DEFINITELY THERE). ALSO I WOULD LIKE TO ADD THE WEAR ON THE TIRES ON MY 2004 350Z. I UNDERSTAND NISSAN "SUPPOSEDLY" FIX THE PROBLEM, BUT MY CAR IS STILL WEARING FRONT TIRES LIKE NO OTHERS. THE TIRES ARE FEATHERING QUICKLY AND DEVELOP VIBRATION ON THE CAR AT THE SAME TIME. *NM INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR

I OWN A 2004 NISSAN 350Z AND RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR FRONT TIRE ROAR WHICH EVENTUALLY WILL DAMAGE THE TIRES AND MISALIGN THE FRONT END. THE WARRANTY HAD BEEN EXTENDED TO OCT 30 2005 AND I HAD TAKEN IT BACK TO THE DEALER ON OCT 28TH. AFTER THE CAR WAS CHECKED THE TIRES WERE FOUND DEFECTIVE AND THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID HE WOULD ORDER NEW TIRES. AFTER TWO WEEKS HAD PASSED AND I DID NOT HERE FROM THE DEALER, I CALLED TO INQUIRE. IT SEEMED AS THOUGH THE PARTS WERE NEVER ORDERED AND THEY WOULD ORDER THEM AND CALL ME WHEN THEY WERE IN. FINALLY ON NOV 21ST I HAD THE CAR SERVICED. WHEN I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER THEY TOLD ME AT THIS TIME THAT I HAD TO PAY FOR THE TIRES. THIS WAS A SURPRISE TO ME BECAUSE NOTHING WAS SAID TO ME AT THE ORIGINAL DATE OF SERVICE. I AGREED TO HAVE THE TIRES REPLACED BECAUSE OF THE MIS-HANDLING OF THE CAR AND A POTENTIAL SAFETY PROBLEM. AFTER WAITING APPROXIMATELY 3 HOURS FOR MY CAR A FEE OF $449.00 WAS PAID. DO TO THE FACT THAT THIS WAS A RECALL BY THE MANUFACTURER AND THE NOTICE STATED THAT THE TIRES WILL BE REPLACED AT NO CHARGE, I FEEL THAT I AM DO A REFUND BY NISSAN. I BOUGHT A 2004 350Z CONVERTIBLE IN SEPTEMBER, 2004 FROM MARION DINWIDDIE AT HUDIBURG OKLAHOMA CITY. I HAVE ANOTHER CAR WITH FRONT WHEEL DRIVE WHICH I DROVE WHEN THE ROADS WERE BAD RECENTLY I GOT A LETTER STATING THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE ALIGNMENT. I STARTING CHECKING ON THE TIRES AND FOUND OUT THAT THE TIRES, BRIDGESTONE POTENZA RE040. ARE SUMMER TIRES AND ARE NOT TO BE DRIVEN ON SNOW AND ICE. I GOT THIS INFORMATION FROM TIRERACK.COM, WHICH GIVES RATINGS ON ALL THE TIRES AVAILABLE IN THE UNITED STATES. THERE WERE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THESE TIRES IN CUSTOMER REVIEWS. WHEN I BOUGHT THE NISSAN I WAS NOT TOLD THAT THESE WERE SUMMER ONLY TIRES. I CONSIDER THIS CRIMINAL! BY NOT TELLING PEOPLE THIS INFORMATION I AM SURE THAT THERE HAVE BEEN A LOT OF WRECKS AND POSSIBLY FATALITIES DUE TO SOMEONE DRIVING IN WINTER CONDITIONS. IF I HAD KNOWN THE NISSAN HAD SUMMER TIRES ON IT I WOULD HAVE INSISTED THEY REPLACE THEM WITH ALL SEASON PERFORMANCE TIRES. BY NOT TELLING THE CONSUMER ABOUT THIS IS PUTTING LIVES AT RISK AND IF I HAD NOT OWNED ANOTHER CAR, I PROBABLY WOULD HAVE BEEN IN A WRECK OR BEEN KILLED MYSELF AND OTHERS! THIS IS AN OUTRIGHT CRIMINAL ACT AND NISSAN SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE. I CALLED ERIC AT THE MAIN NISSAN OFFICE AND FILED A COMPLAINT AND HE TOLD ME THAT THE DEALER WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR PUTTING ON THE TIRES. THE DEALER DENIES THIS. I AM NOT GOING TO PLAY GAMES AND I HOPE YOU CAN HELP ME AND EVERYONE ELSE WHO IS DRIVING THESE CARS . FROM ALL THE REVIEWS I READ, THESE TIRES FALL APART AT ABOUT 10-15,000 MILES. WHEN I BUY A $40,000 DOLLAR CAR, I EXPECT HIGH PERFORMANCE ALL SEASON TIRES AND THEY HAD BETTER LAST MORE THAN 15,000 MILES! I FEEL RIPPED OFF AND MORE IMPORTANTLY NISSAN HAS PUT MY LIFE AND THE LIVES OF OTHERS IN GREAT DANGER. I THINK THEY DESERVE MORE THAT A SLAP ON THE HAND, DON'T YOU AGREE? WINTER IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER AND FOR SOME IT HAS ALREADY STARTED! PLEASE DO SOMETHING QUICKLY, LIVES ARE AT STAKE HERE! SINCERELY, ME. *NM

I BOUGHT 2004 350Z ROADSTER IN OCT 2003. AT 12,000 MILES A RUBBING NOISE FROM FRONT TIRES BECAME EXTREMELY LOUD. TOOK CAR INTO METRO NISSAN, MONTCLAIR CA AND WAS TOLD NOISE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED BUT THAT MY BRAKES WERE GLAZED AND ROTERS WARPED. THEY REPLACED BRAKES AND SHAVED ROTERS. CAR STILL MADE SAME RUBBING NOISE TOOK IT BACK TO DEALER 3 MORE TIMES AND UNTIL THE 5TH TIME AND 18,000 MILES ON MY CAR WAS TOLD THAT IT NEEDED NEW TIRES BECAUSE I HAD FAILED TO HAVE THEM ROTATED!! TIRES CAN'T BE ROTATED BECAUSE THEY ARE DIRECTIONALS AND DIFFERENT SIZES!! I WAS TOLD BY DEALER IT WAS DUE TO NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR! MY TIRES ARE COMPLETELY BALD FROM THE INSIDE THEY ARE CUPPING AND CAR HAS BECOME LESS STABLE WHEN HANDLING CURVES AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE OUTSIDE OF TIRE THREAD IS PERFECTLY NEW AND SHOWS NO WEAR. I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH NISSAN NORTH AMERICA AND WAS TOLD THE SAME BS AS EVERYONE ELSE WHO HAS FILED A COMPLAINT...THE WEAR OF THE TIRES ON THE INSIDE IS NOT NORMAL. NISSAN REFUSES TO ADDRESS THE PROBLEM . WHAT IS THE POINT OF REPLACING TIRES EVERY 8 TO 12,000 MILES IF THE SAME PROBLEM IS GOING TO REPEAT ITSELF. I HAVE A 2004 350Z ROADSTER WITH THE FEATHERING PROBLEM. AT FIRST, IT APPEARS TO BE A BREAK PROBLEM. THE NISSAN DEALER DID NOT COVER THIS UNDER WARRENTY EVEN THOUGH IT IS COVERED UNTIL 12,000 MILES. THE STATED THAT. " THE RIGHT FRONT MAY BE DAMAGED AND THAT I NEEDED TO TAKE IT TO A BODY SHOP AND HAVE THE FRAME BENT". I TOOK IT TO A TIRE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS OUT OF ALIGNMENT. MY FRONT TIRES WERE REPLACED AND A FRONT END ALIGNMENT DONE AT 11,000 MILES. ONLY SIX MONTHS LATER AT 16,500 THE NOISE IS STILL THERE. I TOOK IT TO A DIFFERERENT NISSAN DEALER AND THEY STATED THE ALIGNMENT WAS WAYYYY OFF. THEY DID A 4 WHEEL ALIGNMENT. I WAS AGAIN CHARGED $70.00. I CALLED NISSAN NORTHAMERICA AND ALTHOUGHT THEY WERE RESPONSIVE AND TALKED TO THE DEALER...... THEY ( NISSAN ) CALM THIS IS NOT A PROBLEM WITH THE 2004. I TOOK THE CAR BACK A WEEK LATER STATING THAT IT PULLED TO THE RIGHT A LITTLE ( THERE IS A TSB ON THIS ). THE DEALER SAID IT WAS DO THE LOW TIRE PRESSURE. HMM THEY JUST HAD IT IN LAST WEEK AND THIS WEEK THE TIRES ARE ALREADY LOW? THE CHECKED THE ALIGNMENT AND STATED IT WAS OK. THE CAR DRIVES OK... BUT THE NOISE IS STILL THERE ESPECIALLY AT 20 TO 30 WHEN BREAKING. ONLY TIME WILL TELL BUT I AM NOT SATISFIED NISSAN IS DOING WHAT IS NEEDED TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. NISSAN HAD EXTENDED THE WARRANTY TO 3 YEARS OR 36,000 MILES FOR THE 2003 MODELS. AT APPROXIMATELY 15,000 MILES THE CAR ONCE AGAIN STARTED TO GROWL AND VIBRATE DURING BREAKING. THE CAR WAS TAKEN INTO NISSAN FOR SERVICE. THE NISSAN SERVICE MANAGER STATED THAT THE TIRES ARE STARTING TO CUP. THE NISSAN SERVICE MANAGER HAD THE ALIGNMENT CHECKED AND IT IS STILL SET CORRECTLY. THE NISSAN SERVICE MANAGER STATED THAT THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW AND NOTHING COULD BE DONE TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. THE SERVICE MANAGER STATED THAT SHE HAD CALLED NISSAN AND THERE IS NOTHING THEY WOULD DO SINCE THE CAR WAS PAST THE 12,000 WARRANTY RESTRICTION - EVEN THOUGH THEY HAD REALIGNED THE CAR AND REPLACED ALL THE TIRES AT 8,000 MILES. THE ONLY ACTION THAT COULD BE TAKEN TO SLOW DOWN THE DESTRUCTION OF THE TIRES, SINCE THE FRONT TIRES ARE A DIFFERENT SIZE THAN THE BACK TIRES, IS TO SWITCH POSITION OF THE TWO FRONT TIRES AS WELL AS THE TWO BACK TIRES. PLEASE NOTE THAT DOES NOT FIX THE PROBLEM - IT ONLY DELAYS THE PROBLEM.

Summary

I PURCHASED A 2004 NISSAN 350Z IN AUGUST OF 2003. AFTER ABOUT 24000 MILES I COMPLAINED OF EXCESSIVE ROAD NOISE COMMING FOR THE TIRES. I WAS INFORMED BY THE DEALER THAT THE FRONT TIRE WERE CUPPING AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. THIS SEEMS TO BE A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR AND NISSAN ACKNOWLEDGED IT ON THEIR 2003 MODEL BUT CONTINUES TO IGNORE IT ON THEIR 2004 MODEL CLAINING THAT IT HAS BEEN ADDRESSED ALTHOUGH THEY ARE NOT CLEAR ON HOW THEY ADDRESSED IT. I PURCHASED A 2004 NISSAN 350Z TOURING MODEL IN JULY 2004 AND HAVE PUT APPROXIMATELY 10,000 MILES ON IT SINCE THEN. THE CAR RAN OUT OF OIL IN THE FIRST 5,000 MILES. SINCE THEN, I HAVE HAD TO ADD, ON AVERAGE, AROUND 2 TO 3 QUARTS OF OIL EVERY 3,000 MILES. SEVERAL DEALERS INSIST THAT THIS IS NORMAL. MY LOCAL DEALER FINALLY BEGAN A OIL CONSUMPTION TEST AND NOTICED THE CAR NEEDED 3 TO 4 QUARTS OF OIL AFTER 2,000 MILES. THE DEALER CALLED NISSAN AND NISSAN SAID THAT THIS WAS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE PCV VALVE. NISSAN ADVISED THE DEALER TO REPLACE THE VALVE GASKETS. I AM CONCERNED THAT PERMANENT DAMAGE HAS ALREADY BEEN DONE TO THE ENGINE. *JB

DURING NORMAL OPERATION OF A 2004 NISSAN 350Z THE FUEL TANK WAS PUNCHER AND APPROXIMATELY 15 GALLONS OF GASOLINE SPILLED ONTO THE ROAD. I WAS TRAVELING AT APROX. 30 MPH ON SURFACE STREETS WHEN I HEARD A POP & CONTINUED DRIVING FOR ABOUT 2 MILES. WHEN I GOT OUT OF THE CAR I DISCOVER GAS WAS HEAVILY POURING OUT. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT AND POLICE SECURED AND CLEANED THE AREA THEN TOWED THE CAR. ACCORDING TO THE DEALERSHIP A SMALL PIECE OF ROAD DEBRIS, THAT THEY BELIEVE TO BE METAL, PUNCHED THE FUEL TANK. THE DEALERSHIP HAS ALSO CONFIRMED THAT NO SAFE GUARDS ARE IN PLACE AND NO PROTECTIVE MEASURES HAVE BEEN TAKEN TO PREVENT THIS TYPE OF INCIDENT FROM OCCURRING IN THE LOCATION WHERE THE HOLE EXISTS. NISSAN HAS INDICATED TO ME THAT THEY DO NOT BELIEVE THIS TO BE A SAFETY CONCERN & ARE UNWILLING TO ASSUME THE COST OF REPAIRS OR PUT SAFETY MEASURES IN PLACE TO PREVENT THIS TYPE OF INCIDENT FROM OCCURRING IN THE FUTURE BECAUSE A SAFETY RECALL HAS NOT OCCURRED. PRICHARD MADE THIS DECISION. HER CONTACT INFORMATION IS 1-800-647-7261 EXT. 3851. ON MY MIND JUST THE FACT THAT THIS HAPPENED PROVES THAT THE NISSAN 350Z IS SUSCEPTIBLE TO FUEL TANK PUNCTURES, WHICH COULD LEAD TO FIRE. THIS IS CLEARLY A SAFETY DEFECT, WHICH IS PROBABLE TO CAUSE SERIOUS PERSONAL INJURY AND POSSIBLY DEATH. IN THE INTEREST OF PUBLIC SAFETY NISSAN SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO TAKE PREVENTIVE MEASURES TO ENSURE THAT THE FUEL TANK IS NOT EXPOSED TO ROAD DEBRIS. *AK

NISSAN HAS ISSUED A SERVICE ADVISORY BULLETIN ACKNOWLEDGING THIS VERY PROBLEM FOR THE 2003 350Z MODE, BUT NOT FOR THE 2004 MODEL. NISSAN HAS INDICATED THAT THE SUSPENSION IS THE PRIMARY PROBLEM FOR CAUSING THE ABNORMAL TIRE WEAR AND HAS AUTHORIZED A PARTIAL FIX TO THE PROBLEM. FRONT TIRES WORN ON INSIDE DUE TO FAULTY ALIGNNMENT FROM FACTORY. CAR WAS PURCHASED NEW IN DECEMBER 2003. DURING SECOND SERVICE ( 7,400 MILES) AT PURCHASING DEALERSHIP TIRES WERE BALANCED AND INSPECTED. SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAID NOTHING WAS ABNORMAL WITH THE TIRES. NOW 5 MONTHS LATER ( 13,000 MILES) PURCHASING DEALER REFUSED TO EVEN LOOK AT AUTO WHEN I TOLD THEM THERE WAS NOISE COMING FROM FRONT END AND THAT TIRES WERE WEARING ON THE INSIDE. I WAS TOLD BY PURCHASING DEALERS SERVICE DEPARTMENT TO CALL NISSAN NORTH AMERICA OR TO CALL BRIDGESTONE TIRE COMPANY TO HAVE IT FIXED. I IN TURN CALLED NISSAN NORTH AMERICA AND WAS TOLD BY THEM TO TAKE THE CAR IN TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP FOR INSPECTION. I TOOK THE CAR IN YESTERDAY AND WAS TOLD I NEEDED NEW TIRES FOR THE FRONT AND THAT THE ALIGNMENT WOULD BE ADJUSTED WHEN THE NEW TIRES WERE INSTALLED. I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT IT WOULD BE UP TO NISSAN NORTH AMERICA TO APPROVE THIS REQUEST FOR TIRES AND SERVICE. I AM AFRAID THE BAD ALIGNMENT MAY CAUSE TIRE FAILURE DUE TO THE EXCESSIVE WEAR ON THE INSIDE. I CHECK MY TIRES WEEKLY TO ENSURE NO CORDS ARE SHOWING ON THE INSIDE AND THAT THEY ARE PROPERLY INFLATED. ALL 2003 350 Z'S HAVE A 2 YEAR UNLIMITED MILEAGE WARRANTY ON THE ALIGNMENT AND TIRE REPLACEMENTS DUE TO THE SAME PROBLEMS, YET NISSAN NORTH AMERICA HAS NOT ADDRESSED THE 2004 ISSUES EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE THE SAME AS THE 2003. I OWN A 2004 ENTHUSIAST MODEL 350Z . DURING OUR VACATION THIS YEAR WE NOTICED A ROARING NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT TIRES. WE ONLY HAD 6,507 MILES ON THE CAR AT THIS TIME. MY HUSBAND AND I AT FIRST THOUGHT THIS WAS DUE TO THE SURFACE OF THE ROAD WE WERE DRIVING ON. HOWEVER AFTER DRIVING ANOTHER 3,000 MILES THE NOISE GOT LOUDER AND AT THIS POINT WE WERE ALSO NOTICING A SKIPPING PROBLEM WITH THE RADIO/ CD PLAYER.SO WE DECIDED TO TAKE THE CAR TO THE NISSAN DEALER UPON RETURNING HOME. AT THE DEALERSHIP MY HUSBAND WAS TOLD THAT DUE TO THE FACT THAT THIS IS A SPORTS CAR AND HAS A DIFFERENT TYPE OF SUSPENSION AND TIRES , WE COULD EXPECT TO REPLACE THE TIRES VERY OFTEN ON THIS CAR. THE TIRES ARE WORN UNEVENLY AND FEATHERING ON THE INSIDE TREAD. TO MYSELF , THIS APPEARS TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE, AS THE CAR HANLDLING HAS BEEN AFFECTED BY THIS UNEVEN WEAR. I DID MY RESEARCH ON THIS ISSUE AND DISCOVERED THAT THE 2003 350Z HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. NISSAN HAS NOT FIXED THE PROBLEM, THE ONLY THING THEY'VE DONE IS MADE A MINOR ADJUSTMENT IN THE SUSPENSION WHICH ALLOWS US TO DRIVE A LITTLE LONGER ON THESE TIRES. I KNOW THAT NISSAN IS AWARE OF THIS AND IS NOT MAKING ANY EFFORT TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM OR REPLACE THE TIRES. A CONSUMER HAS A RIGHT TO EXPECT THE THE PRODUCT AND ALL ITS PARTS TO MEET A CERTAIN LEVEL OF PERFORMANCE. NISSAN HAS NOT ACTED IN GOOD FAITH TO ITS' CUSTOMERS WHO HAVE PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE. NO ONE IN THEIR RIGHT MIND WOULD PURCHASE A CAR KNOWING THAT THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE TIRES AT EVERY 3-5,000 MILES. ESPECIALLY NOT AT THE PRICE OF EACH TIRE ON THIS VEHICLE. I PURCHASED A 2004 NISSAN 350Z ON 3/31/04. SINCE THEN THE TRANSMISSION HAS, ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, GONE INTO WHAT THE MANUFACTURER CALLS "FAIL SAFE" MODE, WHICH MEANS THAT IF IT DETECTS A PROBLEM IT WILL IMMEIATELY AND WITHOUT WARNING SLAM DOWN FROM WHATEVER GEAR YOU ARE IN TO FIRST GEAR. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO US ON A HIGHWAY TWICE, AND THE CAR CAME TO A SREECHING HALT, NEARLY CASUING AN ACCIDANT. THE CAR WENT FROM 5TH GEAR TO 1ST WITHOUT WARNING TO US OR TO THOSE BEHIND US, AND IT DID THIS SUDDENLY, BRINGING THE CAR TO A VIRTUAL HALT AS IF THE BRAKES LOCKED. THE MANUFACTURER HAS BEEN UNRESPONSIVE, AND THE DEALER SAYS THAT THIS IS A DELIBERATE DESIGN IN THE TRANSMISSION AND CANNOT BE CHANGED, AND IT KICKS IN EVEN IF THE "ERROR" IT DETECTS IS FALSE. THIS DANGEROUS DESIGN IS IN ALL OF THESE CARS(AUTOMATICS) AND IS INHERENTLY DANGEROUS, ESPECIALLY AS IT SEEMS TO HAPPEN AT HIGH SPEEDS ON THE HIGHWAY AND THERE IS NO WARNING TO US OR THE CAR BEHIND US.*AK
