This vehicle suddenly starts to accelerate on its own like it's in cruise control only it's not and I'm not pressing the gas pedal. It would go well only a 100 if I let it and applying the brakes does nothing. The only way of stopping the vehicle is to put it in neutral and one time that didn't stop it and I had to put it in park and turn off the key. I've taken the vehicle to 3 different garages and they are not able to figure out what the issue is. I've contacted Nissan and they have no recalls of this. I finally looked online and saw that other people have been in accidents because of the same problem. This vehicle is deadly to drive and I'm a professional driver so luckily I knew what to do when this happens. I am not able to drive truck safely and I'm not able to sell it or even give this to anyon because I would be responsible when they kill someone from the mechanical failures. I bought the truck for my teenage son and obviously he can't drive it
DEALER SOLD A VEHICLE AS A FLORIDA 2 OWNER VEHICLE. I DID ANOTHER CARFAX ON IT AFTER I MADE THE PURCHASE TO DISCOVER DEALER SOLD IT TO SOMEONE IN TN AND THEY TITLED IT. THEN THEY RETURNED IT. DEALER SOLD IT TO ME WITHOUT HAVING TITLE ON HAND. VEHICLE WAS SHIPPED AND DROPPED OFF AT MY HOUSE WITHOUT ME BEING THERE TO LOOK IT OVER. THEY NEVER TOLD ME WHEN IT WOULD BE SHIPPED. WHEN MY MECHANIC INSPECTED IT HE SEEN MANY ISSUES. ONE WAS THERE WERE PARTS ON THE TRUCKS STEERING THAT DID NOT BELONG. IT HAD THE WRONG SWAY BAR LINKS INSTALLED. WHEN YOU ATTEMPT TO TURN STEERING HITS THE SWAY BAR AND IT LITERALLY BENDS THE BODY OF THE TRUCK. THERE ARE MANY POWER STEERING ISSUES. THE POWER STEERING GEAR BOX IS LEAKING AS WELL AS POWER STEERING LINES. DEFINITELY NOT A SAFE VEHICLE TO BE ON THE ROAD. THIS WAS NEVER DISCLOSED WHEN MAKING THE PURCHASE. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. COOLANT SENSOR AS WELL AS ENGINE KNOCK SENSORS. WHEN UNDER THE VEHICLE YOU CAN HEAR LOUD BANGING. MECHANIC SUSPECTS CONNECTOR RODS AND/OR MAIN BEARINGS MEANING MOTOR IS ON ITS LAST LEG. LASTLY, DEALERSHIP HAS NOT SENT TITLE NOR ANY PAPERWORK ON IT. ALL I GOT WAS A BROKEN DOWN TRUCK LEAKING FLUIDS LEFT IN MY DRIVEWAY.
THIS TRUCK HAS BEEN WORKED ON MULTIPLE TIMES FOR RUST, CORROSION, GAS TANK LEAKS, BEARINGS AND REAR DIFFERENTIAL. IT CONTINUES TO RUST AND CORRODE. THE MOTOR RUNS WELL BUT THE VEHICLE HAS RUSTED EVEN WITH EXCELLENT CARE. I AM SO DISAPPOINTED. THE GAS TANK HAS BEEN FIXED MULTIPLE TIMES AND CONTINUES TO CORRODE AND LEAK. I THINK THAT ALL OF THESE ISSUES NEED TO BE CHECKED ON. THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL HAS CORRODED AND ALL OF THESE ISSUES ARE VERY EXPENSIVE EVERY TIME THAT IT HAS TO BE FIXED. I WOULD APPRECIATE YOUR HELP WITH THESE PROBLEMS.
THE AIR BAGS WARNING LIGHT STARTED TO BLINK, AND NEVER GOES OF, CHECKEED ABOUT THE SITUATION, TURN ON THE IGNITION KEY AND WAITING FOR THE LIGHT TO GO OFF, BUT IT DOES NOT, WHILE DRIVING, THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHTS STILL BLINKS CONSTANTLY, DOES NOT GOES OFF. DOESN'T MATTER IF DRIVING SLOWLY ON STREET OR FASTER ON HIGHWAY OR FREEWAY..EVEN WHEN NOT DRIVING.. IF I TURN THE IGNITION ON AND OFF, STILL BLINKS... MAYBE THE AIRBAG MALFUCTION?
MY TRUCK SUDDENLY HAD ISSUES SHIFTING. I WENT ONLINE AND SAW THERE WAS A LAWSUIT AND COMMON ISSUES WITH THE RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION. I WAS NOT NOTIFIED ABOUT THE LAWSUIT OR THE ISSUE FROM NISSAN. I ALSO CALLED A MECHANIC AND THEY SAID IT IS A COMMON ISSUES AND IT WOULD BE ABOUT $6,000 TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION AND RADIATOR. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AS NISSAN SHOULD HAVE NOTIFIED CUSTOMERS SO THAT WE COULD HAVE HAD IT FIXED BEFORE IT TURNED INTO A MAJOR ISSUE.
OK RATTLING AROUND THE FRONT OF THE MOTOR .THEN IT JUST STOPPED THEN MILKY SUBSTANCE STARTS RUNNING OUT. I REPORTED IT TO NORTH AMERICA NISSAN AND THEY TOLD ME TO TAKE MY TRUCK TO THE NEAREST NISSAN DEALER AND THEY WOULD TAKE CARE OF THE PROBLEM.THE TIMING CHAIN TENSIONER GUIDE WAS ON A SERVICE BULLETIN (NTBO9- 128)
THE TIMING CHAIN TENSIONER GUIDE FAILED, CAUSING THE TIMING CHAIN TO RUB A HOLE INTO THE BLOCK. THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP, CERANTI OAKES NISSAN, IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, AS WELL AS THE TIMING TENSIONER RECALL SUBMITTED BY THE MANUFACTURER, AND INITIALLY SUGGESTED THAT I HAUL THE TRUCK TO THE DEALERSHIP, AT MY OWN EXPENSE, FOR REPAIRS. AFTER HAVING THE TRUCK ABOUR A WEEK, THE DEALERSHIP FINALLY RETURNED CALLS CLAIMING THAT THEY CAN NOT MAKE REPAIRS UNDER THE MANUFACTURERS RECALL BC IT'S NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL. I HAVE MADE NUMEROUS PHONE CALLS RESULTING IN NO ASSISTANCE FROM CUSTOMER SERVICE TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. THIS PROBLEMS HAS BEEN A GREAT INCONVENIENCE AND CAUSED OUR FAMILY ISSUES GETTING BACK AND FORTH TO WORK, WHICH INEVITABLY HAS COST MY FAMILY A GREAT DEAL IN LOSE OF THE ONLY SOURCE OF INCOME.
TRUCK TOTAL MILEAGE IS ONLY 55,000 AS IT IS NOT USED VERY MUCH. 3 ISSUES OCCURRED APPROX. AT 49,000MILES. 1) ENGINE STARTED TO MISS. UPON CHECKING SPARK PLUGS IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE PLUG CAVITIES IN THE HEAD WERE FULL OF OIL. THE VALVE COVER GASKET SEALS HAD LEAKED AND THE OIL FILLED SPARK PLUG HOLES CAUSED IT TO MISS. THIS IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY SO REPAIRS WERE DONE AT MY COST. HAD TO REPLACE ALL OF THE TOP END VALVE COVER GASKET AND SPARK PLUG HOLE SEALS AS WELL AS THE CAM END SEALS. 2) ONE DAY I GOT INTO THE TRUCK AND WHEN I STARTED IT UP AND PRESSED THE BRAKES THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. UPON CHECKING THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER RESERVOIR IT WAS EMPTY. FOUND THAT THE REAR AXLE BRAKE LINE HAD RUSTED THROUGH AND HAD BURST SPRAYING BRAKE FLUID ALL OVER THE SPARE TIRE. I HAVE NEVER SEEN A BRAKE LINE DEVELOP A HOLE LIKE THIS. NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND A NEW BRAKE LINE AND MASTER CYLINDER WAS REPLACED AT MY OWN COST .THE SYSTEM HAD TO BE BLED OUT AND FLUSHED AT ALL 4 WHEELS. I WAS VERY LUCKY THAT THIS DID NOT OCCUR WHILE DRIVING AS A CRASH WOULD HAVE RESULTED. 3) CURRENTLY HAVING AN ISSUE WITH THE "CHECK ENGINE LIGHT" COMING ON. THE CODE SAYS THAT IT IS A EMISSION ISSUE. WITH THE COMPUTER CODE READER I AM ABLE TO CANCEL THE CODE AND IT STAYS OFF FOR A WHILE BUT COMES BACK ON DAYS LATER. THE CODE IS A LEAKING GAS CAP BUT I CAN DETECT NO LEAKS AND HAVE CHANGED OUT THE CAP WITH AN OEM CAP WITH SAME RESULTS. TRUCK RUNS OKAY SO I HAVE NOT DUG ANY DEEPER ON THIS AND IT IS STILL OCCURRING. 4) WHILE UNDER THE TRUCK FIXING THE BRAKE LINE ISSUE I DISCOVERED THAT THE DRIVE SHAFT WAS COMPLETELY COVERED WITH RUST. IT WAS NEVER PAINTED FROM THE FACTORY. I HAD TO REMOVE IT TO KILL THE RUST AND PAINT IT WITH A GOOD COAT OF BLACK HEAT PROOF PAINT. CORROSION SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE WITH THESE NISSAN VEHICLES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN FRONTIER. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE DEFLATED. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE VALVE STEM WAS LEAKING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE AND ALL THE VALVE STEMS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 180,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN FRONTIER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, A DEER RAN OUT OF THE BUSH AND CRASHED INTO THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG POPPED OUT BUT FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE SEAT BELT AND COOLANT WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT DID NOT SUSTAIN AN INJURY AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN FRONTIER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL JERKED VIOLENTLY AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO WANDER OUT OF ITS LANE. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO REGAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO A SAFE LOCATION AND THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE WHEEL WAS POSITIONED INWARDLY. IN ADDITION, THE INNER AND OUTER WHEEL BEARINGS AND RELATED PARTS WERE FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER. THE FAILURE OCCURRED IMMEDIATELY AFTER BEING SERVICED ACCORDING TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 10V554000 (STEERING); HOWEVER, THE REMEDY WAS INSUFFICIENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,694. WE REPLACED THE STARTER 2X IN THE LAST YEAR AND RECENTLY JUST 3 MONTHS AGO. MY SON WENT TO START THE TRUCK ON SATURDAY AND THE STARTER BURNED COMPLETELY UP. WE HAVE REPLACED THE STARTER ON THIS TRUCK A TOTAL OF 3X IN THE LAST 2 YEARS. *TR
I NOTICED SMALL OIL STAINS UNDER THE NISSAN WHILE PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY, AT WORK, AND ANYWHERE I WOULD STOP. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION, I NOTICED THE OIL PAN IS RUSTING THROUGH. I HAVE DONE RESEARCH AND NOTICED I AM NOT THE ONLY PERSON EXPERIENCING THIS PROBLEM. THIS COULD BE A MAJOR PROBLEM IF THE MOTOR WOULD LOCK UP AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED DUE TO LACK OF LUBRICATION. GOT A QUOTE OF $1500 TO REPLACE THE OIL PAN. SEEMS KIND OF STEEP CONSIDERING I AM NOT THE ONE WHO PUT THE, IN MY OPINION, SUB PAR OIL PAN ON THESE VEHICLES. UPDATED 4/8/2015 *JS
TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 35MPH, VEHICLES IN FRONT CAME TO AN ABRUPT STOP. NISSAN FRONTIER FAILED TO STOP IN A TIMELY MANNER, RESULTING IN CRASH. BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO FLOOR WITHOUT THE TRUCK STOPPING. RESULTING CRASH DID NOT DEPLOY AIRBAGS. VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. DRIVER WAS HOSPITALIZED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN FRONTIER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH AND TRAVELING UPHILL, THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPED AFTER THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DEFECT WAS ALSO PRESENT WHEN DRIVING DOWNHILL. THE CONTACT HAD TO SHIFT TO NEUTRAL AND BACK TO DRIVE BEFORE THE VEHICLE WOULD RESPOND. THE FAILURE WAS RECURRING ONLY WHEN THE ENGINE BECAME HOT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
AFTER DRIVING MY VEHICLE TO WORK (AROUND 15 MILES), THE LIGHTS BEGAN TO DIM AND THE RADIO TURNED ON AND OFF SEVERAL TIMES. I PARKED IN THE GARAGE WHERE I WORK, AND WENT TO MY OFFICE TO GET IN TOUCH WITH A MECHANIC. ABOUT 1/2 HOUR LATER, A POLICE OFFICER CALLED BECAUSE MY TRUCK CAUGHT FIRE. IT CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE PARKING STRUCTURE, AND OBVIOUSLY TO THE VEHICLE, INCLUDING MELTING MANY OF THE COMPONENTS UNDER THE HOOD, AS WELL AS SMOKE DAMAGE TO THE INSIDE OF THE TRUCK. IT WAS TOTALED. *TR
THIS VEHICLE HAS A STEERING COLUMN RECALL THAT I WAS NOT NOTIFIED ABOUT UNTIL I PURCHASED IT IN 2012. I CONTACTED NISSAN TO SCHEDULE THE REPAIR BUT THEY INFORMED ME THAT I WOULD HAVE TO TAKE THE VEHICLE 250 MILES TO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP. I EXPLAINED THAT WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO DO THAT SINCE I LIVE ON AN ISLAND IN A REMOTE PART OF ALASKA. I ASKED IF A LOCAL CERTIFIED MECHANIC WOULD BE ABLE TO MAKE THE REPAIRS AND THEY TOLD ME NO, IT ONLY CAN BE DONE BY A CERTIFIED NISSAN DEALERSHIP. FAILURE TO MAKE THIS REPAIR CAN CAUSE THE STEERING COLUMN TO CORRODE AND BREAK AT SLOW SPEEDS INCREASING THE RISK OF LOSS OF CONTROL AND AN ACCIDENT. I AM NOW UNABLE TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE SAFELY WITHOUT THE RISK OF DAMAGE OR INJURY. MY ONLY OPTION IS TO PAY OUT OF POCKET TO MAKE THE REPAIRS AND HOPE NISSAN WILL REFUND ME THE EXPENSE. *TR
AIRBAGS WOULD NOT DEPLOY. *TR
THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT. I HAD MY VEHICLE REPAIRED BY A DEALER (POWER STEERING). NOW I HAVE A LEAK IN THE POWER STEERING. THEY SAY THEY DID NOT CAUSE THE LEAK. I SAY THEY DID. *TR
FOR THE SECOND TIME IN LESS THEN THREE YEARS MY REAR AXEL AND WHEEL HAVE COME LOOSE AND VERY CLOSE TO FALLING OFF. BOTH TIMES THE MECHANICS TOLD ME IT WAS BECAUSE OF A BROKEN WASHER. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH I HAVE FOUND THAT OTHER FRONTIER OWNERS HAVE HAD SIMILAR AXEL PROBLEMS. MECHANICS HAVE TOLD ME THAT THEY ARE AWARE OF FRONTIER REAR AXEL PROBLEMS. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN FOR MYSELF AND FOR OTHER FRONTIER OWNERS. THIS PROBLEM COULD CAUSE SERIOUS AND DANGEROUS ACCIDENTS THAT COULD INJURE OR KILL PEOPLE. I WAS BLESSED THAT BOTH TIMES MY REAR AXEL FAILED I WAS ONLY GOING AT A SLOW SPEED. IF IT HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY AT A HIGHER SPEED I WOULD HATE TO THINK WHAT MIGHT HAPPEN. AXLES COMING LOOSE SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING. NISSAN SHOULD STEP UP AND DEAL WITH THIS MAJOR SAFETY PROBLEM. *TR
AS I APPROACHED A STOP SIGN ON A SECONDARY PAVED HIGHWAY ENTERING A PRIMARY HIGHWAY, THE ABOVE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SKID ON A THIN LAYER OF GRAVEL LAID DOWN ON THE BLACKTOP FOR RECENT ICE AND SNOW CONTROL. THE ROAD WAS CURRENTLY CLEAR AND DRY. I APPLIED THE BRAKES WHICH WENT HALFWAY TO THE FLOORBOARD WITHOUT ANTILOCK ACTION. CONCURRENTLY THE ACCELERATOR MAINTAINED THE CURRENT SPEED OF APPROXIMATELY 20 MILES PER HOUR. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED THROUGH THE STOP SIGN ON A COLLISION COURSE WITH AN ONCOMING VEHICLE FROM THE LEFT MOVING AT APPROXIMATELY 60 MILES PER HOUR. WITHOUT CONTROL OF MY VEHICLE IT CONTINUED ON ITS OWN ACROSS THE PRIMARY HIGHWAY MISSING THE REAR OF THE ONCOMING VEHICLE BY A FOOT OR TWO. THE OTHER DRIVER APPEARED NOT TO BE AWARE OF MY INABILITY TO STOP AND POSSIBLY DIDN'T EVEN REALIZE THE INCIDENT OCCURRED. FORTUNATELY THERE WERE NO VEHICLES IN THE OPPOSITE LANE COMING MY DIRECTION AND I SPEEDED UP TO CLEAR THE HIGHWAY AND CONTINUE ON THE SECONDARY ROAD. AT THAT POINT MY VEHICLE FUNCTIONED NORMALLY. THE BRAKES WORKED AGAIN AND THE ACCELERATOR APPEARED TO FUNCTION NORMALLY. IN ESSENCE, FROM THE POINT OF THE SKID, MY VEHICLE DROVE ITSELF ACROSS THE HIGHWAY. ANTILOCK DID NOT ENGAGE AND THE ACCELERATOR APPEARED TO SIMULTANEOUSLY MALFUNCTION. *TR
FUEL GAUGE DOES NOT REGISTER PROPERLY. I HAVE ALREADY REPLACED THE FUEL CAP ONCE AND HAD THE TRUCK IN FOR REPAIRS A COUPLE OF TIMES. THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT IS ON ALMOST CONSTANTLY AND WHEN THE FUEL GETS DOWN TO 1/4-1/8 OF A TANK, THE GAUGE WILL GO UP TO 3/4 A TANK INDICATING THAT THERE IS MORE GAS THERE THAN THERE ACTUALLY IS. IF I DO NOT KEEP TRACK OF IT, I CAN EASILY RUN OUT OF GAS. *TR
NOTICED TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS SLOWLY LEAKING AND COVERING THE BOTTOM PAN. MECHANIC LOOKED AT IT AND FOUND A CRACK IN THE HOUSING OF THE TRANSMISSION NEAR THE TOP. MY CERTIFIED MECHANIC HAD NEVER SEEN THIS BEFORE. THE TRANSMISSION AND TORQUE CONVERTER NOW NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND THE "CORE" CANNOT BE SENT BACK FOR ANY CREDIT. TOTAL COST SO FAR IS APPROX. $2,800. THE TRANSMISSION HOUSING HAS NO EXTERNAL DAMAGE THAT WOULD HAVE CAUSED THIS CRACK TO THE HOUSING. CONSUMER SENT AN UPDATED PORTABLE TO CORRECT THE VIN. UPDATED 07/08/11
2009 STARTED HEARING KNOCKING NOISE FROM ENGINE. SEEM TO COME AND GO. TOOK IT TO NISSAN AND DISCOVERED THE CRANK PULLEY WAS COMING APART. YEAR AND HALF LATER BELTS WERE SQUEALING. TOOK TRUCK IN FOR TIRES AND ASKED THEM TO CHECK THE BELTS.DISCOVERED THE IDLER PULLEY WAS COMING APART. WAS INFORMED BY SERVICE PEOPLE AT TIRE DEALER( TIRES PLUS) THEY HAVE SEEN THIS BEFORE ON NISSAN VEHICLES WITH THE SAME ENGINE. THIS WAS IN 2011. TWO BAD PULLEYS WITH LESS THAN 42,000 MILES ON TRUCK. NO TELLING WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IF EITHER OF THIS PULLEYS HAD COME APART AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. HAVE NEVER HEARD OF PULLEYS COMING APART ON A VEHICLE BEFORE. *TR
I HAVE A 2004 NISSAN FRONTIER CREW CAB, LONG BED (6') AND THE AIR BAGS (BOTH DRIVER & PASSENGER) DID NOT DEPLOY. THE ENTIRE FRONT END OF THE TRUCK SUFFERED DAMAGE. THE DAMAGE IS SIGNIFICANT ENOUGH THAT THE HOOD FOLDED UPWARDS. MY DAUGHTER HIT AN IMPALA WITHOUT SIDE IMPACT AIR BAGS ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR HARD ENOUGH TO SNAP THE IMPALA'S FRONT AXLE. THIS SEVERE OF AN ACCIDENT SHOULD HAVE CAUSED THE AIR BAGS TO DEPLOY BUT, THEY DIDN'T. I JUST SAW THIS HAS OCCURRED WITH OTHERS AND IT APPEARS TO BE A FAIRLY COMMON PROBLEM AS I FOUND MULTIPLE WEBSITES SPEAKING ABOUT THIS FAILURE TO DEPLOY. *TR
NISSAN 2004 FRONTIER XE BRAKES FAILED WITHOUT WARNING CAUSING A COLLISION INTO AN APARTMENT COMPLEX ENTRY SIGN MADE OUT OF CEMENT BLOCKS. THE DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE RESULTED IN A TOTAL LOSS. IF THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN REPAIRABLE, A SERIOUS CONCERN FOR DRIVER AND PASSENGER SAFETY DUE TO THE HIGH PROBABILITY OF REPEATED BRAKE FAILURE. A TOTAL BRAKE SYSTEM REPAIR HAD BEEN DONE BY A REPUTABLE REPAIR SHOP APPROXIMATELY ONE AND ONE-HALF YEARS PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT. *LN
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN FRONTIER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO RESTART IT. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 46,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN FRONTIER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME VERY STIFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HIS RESIDENCE. THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED BY A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT HER VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 10V554000, STEERING, COLUMN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 65,000.
VEHICLE STARTS STALLING AFTER DRIVING FOR 10 TO 40 MILES. VARIOUS DASH LIGHTS START TO COME ON, LIGHTS START TO DIM, VEHICLES STARTS BUCKING FROM ENGINE MISSING. VERY DANGEROUS IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. ONCE STOPPED, VEHICLE HORN GOES OFF WHEN RESTARTING ATTEMPTED. ENGINE WON'T TURN OVER WHEN ATTEMPTING TO RESTART. AFTER SEVERAL HOURS VEHICLE WILL RESTART. BROUGHT TO NISSAN SERVICE DEPT. TWICE AND COULD NOT GET THE VEHICLE TO REPEAT INCIDENT. *TR
POWERING STEERING BOX FAILURE ON A 2004 NISSAN FRONTIER. MY VEHICLE HAS ONLY 49,000 MILES ON IT AND WAS PURCHASED NEW. TWO MECHANICS, ONE NISSAN AND ONE AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, IDENTIFIED THE STEERING BOX AS THE CULPRIT FOR THE DIFFICULT STEERING IN THE VEHICLE. BOTH SAID IT SHOULD NOT FAIL. THE NISSAN MECHANIC WENT ON TO SAY THAT HE HAD ONLY SEEN ONE FAIL IN HIS TEN YEARS AS A MECHANIC, AND THAT INVOLVED A VEHICLE THAT WAS IN A SEVERE ACCIDENT. THE FAILURE PREVENTS ME FROM STEERING AND AT TIMES TAKES TWO HANDS TO STEER. THE MECHANICS STATE THAT THE ONLY REPAIR IS TO REPLACE THE PART. NISSAN REFUSES TO ASSIST IN THE COSTS OF THOSE REPAIRS. *TR
TL*CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN FRONTIER. THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. IT WOULD ILLUMINATE INTERMITTENTLY. THE CONSUMER ATTEMPTED TO TAKE HIS VEHICLE IN FOR INSPECTION BUT IT FAILED DUE TO THIS FAILURE. HE THEN TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A MECHANIC WHO RAN DIAGNOSTIC TESTING ON THE VEHICLE. AFTER FURTHER TESTING THEY STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO RUST ON THE GAS TANK. IN WHICH LED TO A EVAPORATION LEAK ON THE TOP OF THE GAS TANK. THE MECHANICS REPLACED THE GAS TANK. ALL THE ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT INCLUDING THE GAS PUMP. THE REPAIRS HAVE TAKEN CARE OF THE FAILURE. HE STATED THAT THE FAILURE ON A VEHICLE THAT'S FIVE YEARS IN AGE IS A MANUFACTURE DEFECT. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,100. UPDATED 9/17/09 *CN UPDATED 09/18/09.*JB
I HAVE A 2004 NISSAN FRONTIER 4X2, CREW CAB XE 4 DOOR LONG. MY TRUCK WAS IN AN ACCIDENT AND IT IS CONSIDERED A TOTAL LOSS. THE TRUCK WAS HIT ON THE LEFT SIDE AND THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. THE ONLY AIR BAG THAT DEPLOYED WAS THE PASSENGERS SIDE. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN FRONTIER. THE CONTACT SMELLED FUEL COMING FROM THE VEHICLE WHILE IT WAS PARKED IN HIS GARAGE. IN ADDITION, WHEN THE IGNITION WAS STARTED, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE INDICATOR REMAINED LIT UNTIL THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THEY STATED THAT THE FUEL SYSTEM WAS THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR IDENTICAL FAILURES. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 47,100. UPDATED 03/17/09. *LJ THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN REPAIRED. THE FUEL TANK WAS REPLACED. UPDATED 03/18/09. *JB
AROUND 80,000 MILES, FAULTY WIRING IN THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO ACCELERATE AND DECELERATE ERRATICALLY WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, WHILE PRESSING DOWN THE ACCELERATOR. AFTER TAKING THE TRUCK TO A NISSAN SERVICE CENTER, IT WAS DISCOVERED THERE WAS A WIRING PROBLEM IN THE VEHICLE CAUSING THIS. THIS POTENTIALLY COULD CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO STALL OUT DURING A TURN, OR WHILE DRIVING DOWN A FREEWAY, WHICH MAY POSSIBLY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT RESULTING IN INJURY OR DEATH. *TR
THE FUEL SENDING UNIT SENSOR IN THE GAS TANK IS BAD. IT SHOWS EMPTY TANK WHEN TANK IS FULL. IT IS CAUSING THE SES LIGHT TO COME ON. *TR
2004 NISSAN FRONTIER. DRIVER WAS PULLING A PICKUP TRUCK ON A TOW DOLLY. ANOTHER MOTORIST POINTED AT THE TOWED VEHICLE THEN THE DRIVER PULLED ON THE BERM AND DISCOVERED THE TOWED PICKUP WAS BURNING FROM THE UNDERSIDE, FIRE WAS PUT OUT. *NJ THE VEHICLE HAD AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION AND THE DRIVESHAFT WAS NOT DISCONNECTED WHICH APPEARED TO HAVE OVERHEATED THE TRANSMISSION, WHICH CAUSED THE FIRE. OHIO TRAFFIC CRASH REPORT 10-0598-90. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN FRONTIER. THE VEHICLE FAILED INSPECTION BECAUSE THE FUEL TANK WAS LEAKING VAPORS. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT A REPAIR SHOP. THE REPLACEMENT FUEL TANK HAS BEEN ON BACK ORDER FOR OVER THREE MONTHS. THE MANUFACTURER TOOK A REPORT AND STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. THE CONTACT FEELS THAT THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD MAKE THE FUEL TANK AVAILABLE TO THE DEALERS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 61,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 62,000.
THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNED ON IN MAY VEHICLE. I HAD IT CHECKED AND IT TURNS OUT THE GAS TANK/ HOSE CONNECTION TO THE TANK IS RUSTED CAUSING A FUME LEAK. THIS LEAK CAN BE SMELLED INSIDE THE VEHICLE AND IS VERY STRONG OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE AND IS A POTENTIAL FIRE HAZARD. THIS OCCURRED IN AUGUST 2006. I HAD TO ORDER A REPLACEMENT TANK WHICH IS ON BACKORDER UNTIL SOMETIME IN SEPTEMBER. *TR
CORROSION IN HEAT AFFECTED ZONES ON THE VEHICLE FRAME ARE A CAUSE FOR CONCERN ON THIS VEHICLE. REPORTING IN THE INTEREST OF SAFETY. *TR
I HAVE THESE TIRES ORIGINAL FROM NISSAN WHEN I BOUGHT THE TRUCK. AFTER 28,000 MILES, THEY WOULD JUST PEEL OFF ON THE TOP LAYER AND LEAVE THE REST OF THE TIRE INTACT. AT HIGH SPEEDS, THIS HAS CAUSED MAJOR DAMAGE TO MY TRUCK BY A SLAPPING ACTION OF THE PEELED LAYER. THEY SHOULD NOTIFY ALL CONSUMERS OF THIS DEFECT. *TR
I'VE HAD 2 GENERAL AW GRABBER TIRES LOSE THE TREAD ON ME WHILE DRIVING. SIZE IS P225 70 R15. JUST LOST THE TREAD ON ONE YESTERDAY WHILE TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY ALMOST CAUSING A SEVERE CRASH. *TR
MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS WEREN'T WORKING. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO ZIMBRICK NISSAN IN MADISON, WI. THEY FOUND THAT THE SPLINES WERE STRIPPED OFF THE WIPER ARMS. RATHER THAN REPLACING THE ARMS WITH NEW ONES, THEY GLUED THE NONFUNCTIONAL ARMS BACK ON THE VEHICLE WITH LOCKTITE AND STATED IN WRITING THAT EVERYTHING WAS NOW WORKING FINE.. THESE DAMAGED ARMS COULD FAIL AT ANY TIME AND IF THE DRIVER COULD LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE DUE TO LOSS OF VISION. IF THE DRIVER IS IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AND/OR AT HIGH SPEED ON A HIGHWAY THERE COULD BE AN ACCIDENT, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN LOSS OF LIFE. I COMPLAINED TO NISSAN ABOUT THIS, BUT THE PERSON, WHO IDENTIFIED THEMSELVES AS A CUSTOMER SERVICE WORKER, SAID THAT THE DEALER HAD A FREE HAND TO DO WHATEVER THEY WANTED. I COMPLAINED ABOUT THE REUSE OF A DAMAGED PART ON AN IMPORTANT SYSTEM OF THE VEHICLE THAT COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT AND THEY SAID THAT WAS THE DEALERS DISCRETION ALSO. I DON'T THINK THAT AUTOMOBILE MANUFACTURERS AND DEALERS SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO PUT DAMAGED PARTS ON VEHICLES THAT COULD RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT. *TR
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE DEFROSTER WHEN ACTIVATED, TURNED THE AIR CONDITIONING ON AND THE ONLY WAY TO TURN IT OFF WAS TO SHUT THE ENGINE OFF. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THIS WAS THE NORMAL PROCEDURE. UPDATED 12/28/06. *JB

THAT IS THE REASON I WANT TO CANCEL THE PURCHASE OF THIS CAR. *JB
I HAVE A 2004 FRONTIER EXTENDED CAB. MY CD PLAYER FAILS TO WORK THE TRUCK IS OUT OF WARRANTY BECAUSE I COMMUTE TO WORK FOR A LONG DISTANCE MY MILEAGE EXCEEDS THE WARRANTY NOW BEFORE THE 3 YEARS. I BOUGHT A NEW NISSAN FRONTIER IN NOVEMBER 2004, I WAS REAR ENDED ON 1-19-2005. I HAVE HAD 32 NEEDLES STUCK IN ME SINCE THAT TIME INCLUDING AND IDET FOR AN INTERNALLY DISRUPTED DISC. I FEEL THAT THIS ALL COULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED IF THE LUMBAR SUPPORT WAS EITHER NOT IN THE VEHICLE, OR THAT IT WAS NOT FAULTY. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THEY SHOULD DEFLATE ON IMPACT (IN GENERAL), HOWEVER MINE IS HARD AS A ROCK. *NM
DT: THE CONTACT STATED VEHICLE WAS ON FIRE WHILE PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY WITH THE IGNITION TURNED OFF. HE ATTEMPTED TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE WITH A WATER HOSE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED AND PUT OUT THE FIRE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT DETERMINED THIS WAS AN ELECTRICAL FIRE THAT ORIGINATED FROM THE DASHBOARD PANEL AREA. THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED DAMAGE TO THE INTERIOR DASHBOARD PANEL AND FRONT SEATS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DEEMED A TOTAL LOSS BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT A BODY SHOP FOR REPAIRS. *AK UPDATED 12/27/05. *JB UPDATED 03/09/06.
I HAVE A 2004 NISSAN FRONTIER CREW CAB. THE NORMAL CRUSING RPM IS AROUND 2300 ON THE HIGHWAY. ON THE INITIAL DATE OF 6/25/2004, I BEGAN TO NOTE THAT WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS OPERATING ON CRUISE CONTROL, DURING A DOWNSHIFT INTO A PASSING GEAR, SUCH AS CLIMBING A GRADE, THE MOTOR INCREASES TO 3500 RPMS. UPON LEVELING OFF, THE CRUISE CONTROL DOES NOT ALLOW THE MOTOR TO REDUCE THE RPM'S BACK DOWN TO CRUSIING LEVEL OF 23-2500 RPM. I FIND MYSELF HAVING TO BRAKE OR CUT OFF THE CRUISE CONTROL TO REDUCE THE RPM BACK TO NORMAL. THE NISSAN DEALER IN ASHEVILLE NORTH CAROLINA HAS HAD THIS TRUCK ON 7/1/04, 7/28/04, AND 8/11/04 ATTEMPTING TO FIX THIS PROBLEM WITH NO SUCCESS. THE LAST OCCASION, THEY KEPT THE VEHICLE FOR OVER TWO WEEKS WITH NO LUCK. ON 9/8/04, THE SERVICE MANAGER ADVISED ME THAT THE PROBLEM WAS A BAD CODE THAT NISSAN ENGINEERING WOULD HAVE TO RESOLVE AND HE WOULD NOTIFY ME. SEVEN MONTHS LATER I'VE HEARD NOTHING SO I INQUIRED TODAY WHILE MY TRUCK WAS BEING SERVICED. HE ADVISED THAT THERE IS STILL NO FIX AND HE HAS A LIST OF SIX CUSTOMERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM/COMPLAINT. THE ACS CONTROL MODULE WAS REPLACED AS WELL AS THE ACTUATOR AND A RELAY WITH NO SUCCESS.*AK

THE BASE MODEL 2004 NISSAN FRONTIER IS SOLD WITHOUT THE REAR BUMPER CAUSING AN UNSAFE CONDITION. IN THE EVENT OF A REAR END COLLISION, THE LACK OF A BUMPER WOULD TRANSFER 100% OF THE ENERGY FROM THE IMPACT TO THE BODY OF THE CAR, INJURING THE TRUCK'S OCCUPANTS. ADDITIONALLY, A REAR BUMPER WOULD STOP A VEHICLE FROM BEING PUSHED UNDER THE FRONTIER IN THE EVENT OF A REAR END COLLISION. *NM
MY WIFE AND I PURCHASED THE ABOVE REFERENCED NEW TRUCK FROM LEBLANC NISSAN IN BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA ON SEPTEMBER 11, 2004. IMMEDIATELY, WE NOTICED THAT HOT AIR WAS COMING FROM THE CENTER DASH VENTS ALMOST ALL OF THE TIME. THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED, BUT NOT FIXED. NISSAN IDENTIFIED A PROBLEM WITH THE MESH IN THE VENT SCREEN IN FRONT OF THE WINDSHIELD WHERE FRESH AIR IS INDUCED INTO THE SYSTEM. THE MESH WAS LARGE ENOUGH TO ALLOW DEBRIS TO ENTER AND ACCUMULATE. THE REMEDY TO THIS PROBLEM ON 2004 MODELS WAS TO MAKE THE MESH IN THE SCREEN VERY FINE. HOWEVER, THE FINER MESH CREATES HIGH RESISTANCE TO THE INDUCTION OF FRESH AIR FROM OUTSIDE THE CAR INTO THE HEATING/VENTILATION SYSTEM. THIS INCREASED RESISTANCE CAUSES THE VENTILATION SYSTEM TO DRAW HEATED, AND POTENTIALLY CONTAMINATED AIR, FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT INTO THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. NISSAN?S FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM WAS TO PLACE DUCT TAPE OVER VARIOUS HOLES IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT FROM WHERE THE VENTILATION SYSTEM WAS DRAWING AIR. THE DUCT TAPE WAS APPLIED, BUT IT DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. I HAVE MEASURED THE TEMPERATURE OF THE AIR COMING OUT OF THE 2 CENTER VENTS ON A DAY WHEN THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE WAS 78 DEGREES. THE AIR COMING FROM THE VENTS MEASURED 96 DEGREES. LEBLANC NISSAN REPEATED THIS TEST WITH MORE SOPHISTICATED EQUIPMENT AND OBTAINED TEMPERATURES OF ALMOST 100 DEGREES ON A DAY WHEN THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE WAS LESS THAN 78 DEGREES. THE FACT THAT THE TRUCK IS UNCOMFORTABLY HOT OR COLD IS BAD ENOUGH. THE FAR MORE SERIOUS ASPECT IS THE POTENTIAL FOR THE SYSTEM TO INTRODUCE DEADLY CARBON MONOXIDE FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT INTO THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT VIA THE VENTILATION SYSTEM. *AK
I AM MAKING YOU AWARE OF A POTENTIALLY UNSAFE SITUATION. NISSAN SELLS FRONTIER TRUCKS (CALLED THE "BASE" MODEL) WITHOUT REAR BUMPERS. I RECEIVED A TICKET WHILE DRIVING MY NEW VEHICLE, HAVING BEEN TOLD THAT THIS WAS ILLEGAL. NISSAN DENIES THIS. IN ANY CASE, IT WOULD SEEM TO COMPROMISE SAFETY IN PERSONS PURCHASING NISSAN FRONTIER TRUCKS.*AK
WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE SHOOK UNCONTROLLABLY. THE CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND DROVE IT TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE CONSUMER INFORMED THE MECHANIC THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED MORE THAN ONCE AND THE PROBLEM HAS NEVER BEEN RESOLVED. *AK *JB
WHILE DRIVING, THE DRIVER HEARD A LOUD KNOCKING NOISE COMING FROM THE BACK. WHILE SHIFTING THE GEARS THE TRANSMISSION WOULD HESITATE WHILE ENGAGING INTO GEARS. THE DRIVER WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE MECHANIC INFORMED THE DRIVER THAT THEY NEED MORE TIME TO LOOK AT THE PROBLEM. PLEASE FILL IN ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. *NM AFTER 7 TRIPS TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT THE CONSUMERS VEHICLE STILL HAD PROBLEMS. AFTER GETTING NO RESULTS AT THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT THE CONSUMER AND GENERAL MANAGER GOT INTO AN ARGUEMENT WHERE THE MANAGER THREATENED THE CONSUMER. THE CONSUMER ON HIS WAY OUT SAW ANOTHER CONSUMER WITH THE SAME VEHICLE AND SAME PROBLEM THE GENERAL MANAGER MADE THE CONSUMER LEAVE THE STORE OR PROMISED TO CALL THE POLICE. *TC
WHEN DRIVING FROM 50- 70 MPH VEHICLE VIBRATED UNDER THE FLOOR BOARD. THE DEALER REPLACED THE DRIVE SHAFT, HOWEVER PROBLEM RECURRED. *AK THE DEALER MOVED THE SHAFT 1/4 TURN AND THE SAME PROBLEM RECURRED. THE NISSAN MANUFACTURER SUGGESTED THAT THIS PARTICULAR MAKE/MODEL DOES IN FACT EXPERIENCE THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM. *SC
WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH VEHICLE VIBRATED UNCONTROLLABLY. CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, AND DROVE IT TO THE DEALER. MECHANIC REPLACED BOTH FRONT UPPER AND LOWER BALL JOINTS DUE TO CORROSION. *AK DEALER REALIGNED FRONT END DUE TO INCORRECT ALIGNMENT. FRONT TIRES WERE REPLACED BY A TIRE DEALER BECAUSE THEY'RE OUT OF BALANCE. ALSO, CONSUMER NOTICED THAT OIL IS LEAKING FROM TRANSMISSION, VEHICLE HAS MANUAL TRANSMISSION. *LA
WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS OFF AND PARKED IT ROLLED DOWN A SLIGHT INCLINE OF 50-60 FEET AND ROLLED INTO A RAVINE. DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED. *AK
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE SHOOK UNCONTROLLABLY. ALSO, WHEN SHIFTING A LOUD NOISE WAS HEARD FROM THE FRONT. CONSUMER DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC REPLACED A TRANSMISSION SWITCH DUE TO A WORN OUT PART. *AK
BRAND NEW VEHICLE ON WAY HOME AFTER PURCHASE STARTED TO SHIMMY AND SHAKE AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 60-80 MPH ON OPEN HIGHWAY. THIS WAS DISTRACTING FOR DRIVER AND MADE THE VEHICLE DIFFICULT TO HOLD STEADY TRACKING DOWN ROAD. THIS WAS REPORTED TO DEALER WITHIN 48 HOURS. DEALER RE-BALANCED FRONT TIRES. THE SAME DRIVING PERFORMANCE PROBLEM STILL OCCURRED AND UNUSUALLY AFTER DRIVING VEHICLE 5-10 MILES CONTINUAL DISTANCE. I DRIVE 47 MILES TO WORK DAILY ON INTERSTATE 95 IN NORTH CAROLINA, AND AFTER A FEW MILES THIS SHAKING STARTS HAPPENING AT VARING SPEEDS ABOVE 60 MPH. THE VEHICLE SEEMS TO OCCASSIONALLY DART FROM SIDE TO SIDE WHILE TRYING TO TRACK NORMALLY DOWN THE ROAD. DEALER SAYS THE ALINMENT IS NOT OUT. I PIONTED OUT TO THE SERVICE MANAGER THAT THE BACK RIGHT TIRE WAS IN FACT FEATHERING ON THE OUTSIDE. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN RETURNED TO DEALER (LUMBERTON NISSAN) 3 TIMES, AND THE LAST VISIT THEY REMOVED NEWS TIRES WHICH THEY HAD REPLACED- WIHTOUT RESULTS- AND RAN THEM ON A MACHINE AT THE CHEVY DEALERSHIP. THEY DID FIND THAT PARTICULAR TIRE TO BE OUT AND REPLACED IT. THE VEHICLE STILL SHAKES AND HAS A HIGH SPEED VIBRATION. THIS ADVERSELY AFFECTS THE VEHICLES SAFE OPERATION ON THE OPEN HIGHWAY. THE DEALERSHIP DOESN'T WANT TO CONTINUE TRYING TO TRACK DOWN THE PROBLEM OF THE VEHICLE, SO I HAVE CONTACTED NISSAN CORP., OFFICES AND FILED A COMPLAINT ON THE VEHICLE AND REQUESTED TODAY TO RETURN THE UNIT TO THE DEALERSHIP. I FEEL THAT THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE PERFORMANCE OF THIS VEHICLE IS A SAFETY HAZARD RESULTING FROM A DEFECT IN THE DRIVE TRAIN OF THE VEHICLE. TO AVOID A FOURTH VISIT THE DEALER (WHICH N.C. LEMON LAW STATES) THEY WOULD BE OBLIGATED TO REFUND OR REPLACE THE THE UNIT. I CONTEND TAHT MY V4 FRONTIER TRUCK EITHER HAST A PROBLEM INTERNALLY IN THE DRIVE TRAIN, OR BECAUSE IT IS BUILT ON A LIGHTER FRAME, IT CANNOT PERFORM SAFELY AS MARKETED DUE TO DANGEROUSLY MISS-MATCHED COMPONENT SUSPENSION SYSTEM, WHICH IS ESSENTIALLY A DESIGN DEFECT ON THE PART OF NISSAN. *AK
