INSTRUMENT CLUSTER PANEL HAS EMBEDDED LED LIGHTS, NO REPLACEABLE BULBS...FORCES ENTIRE CLUSTER REPLACEMENT FROM UNSALVAGEABLE OR USED/SALVAGED VEHICLES WITH NO GUARANTEE OF TRUE INTERNAL CONDITION TEMPORARILY OR LONG-TERM, LEADING TO MANY SAFETY & DYSFUNCTION ISSUES, INCLUDING "RIGGED" COMPONENTS SUCH AS FALSE MILEAGE, ETC. MY XL7 ODOMETER/TRIP METER BLACKED OUT AT 130K MILES, SHOULD LAST LIFETIME OF VEHICLE. SUZUKI NO LONGER MANUFACTURING THE CLUSTERS, TOO COST-PROHIBITIVE FOR OWNERS IF THEY WERE STILL MAKING THEM. MANY, MANY OWNERS ON FORUMS & ONLINE SITES COMPLAINING OF THIS ISSUE AND SEEKING HELP OR PARTS FROM OTHERS. I'VE PERSONALLY READ HUNDREDS. SUZUKI NEEDS TO REMEDY THIS ISSUE IMMEDIATELY SO OWNERS CAN BE SAFE DRIVING & ASSURED OF NO DYSFUNCTION, AND PROTECTED FROM FURTHER DAMAGE RELATED TO MILEAGE TAMPERING, INCLUDING HIDDEN AND EXCESSIVELY AGED ENGINE/PARTS.
BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE FROM ORIGINAL OWNER. AFTER NOTICING SOME ISSUES & LOOKING BACK OVER CARFAX, REPAIR REPORT, & RECALLS ONLINE, I CALLED SUZUKI. GAVE THE VIN# AND WAS TOLD A RECALL WAS DONE IN 2004 BY DEALER. WHEN ASKED ABOUT THE OTHER RECALLS, SHE SAID THERE WAS NO OTHER RECALLS. ALL PAPERWORK I HAVE HAS NO INDICATIONS OF THE RECALL BEING DONE. I SEE 3 RECALLS ON THIS SITE AS WELL. WHAT SHOULD I DO OR WHO SHOULD I CONTACT?
RECALL 03V51200 AFFECTED PART OF THE 2004 XL7 BUT NOT THOSE PRODUCED AFTER 6/13/2003. THE LATTER VEHICLES HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE ACCELERATER CABLE STICKING. ON MARCH 18, 2017 MY WIFE'S CABLE GOT STUCK AND HER VEHICLE ALMOST REAR ENDED A DIESEL TRUCK ON HIGHWAY 99 SOUTH IN SACRAMENTO, CA. IF SHE HADN'T PUT THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL SHE WOULDN'T HAVE STOPPED SO I LOOKED RECALL NOTICES AND FOUND THE ABOVE STATED RECALL. JUST TO FIND OUT THAT HER VEHICLE SUFFERED FROM THE SAME AFFLICTION AS THE VEHICLES THAT WERE RECALLED BUT WASNT INCLUDED. THIS IS SO DANGEROUS AND I FEEL ALL THE VEHICLES FROM 2004 SHOULD BE FIXED
ONE DAY, I STARTED MY CAR, THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON, AND THE CLOCK/TEMP WAS FLASHING, IT HASN'T GONE AWAY. I AM UNABLE TO FIX THE CLOCK, AND WHEN I WENT TO THE MECHANIC TO FIX THE AIRBAG PROBLEM, HE CALLED OUR LOCAL SUZUKI DEALERSHIP AND HE WAS TOLD THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT HAS BEEN KNOWN FOR YEARS, AND WOULD COST ME OVER $3500 JUST FOR THE PARTS. I'VE SEEN OTHER SITES WHERE PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. ON ONE FORUM I SAW THAT SOME SUZUKI DEALERSHIPS WERE OFFERING TO RESET THE SENSOR MODULE FOR FREE, BUT I WASN'T OFFERED THAT HERE (HAWAII). I SPENT MOST OF MY DAY TRYING TO SEE IF THERE WERE RECALLS, BUT COULD NOT FIND ANY. AT THIS POINT, BEING THAT THE CAR IS ALREADY 12 YEARS OLD, HAVING TO FIX THIS PROBLEM WILL COST MORE THAN THE CAR IS WORTH. I AM UNABLE TO GET A SAFETY CHECK, AND AM UNABLE TO DRIVE IT ANYWHERE NOW. I FEEL THAT SUZUKI SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COST SEEING THAT THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH OTHER OWNERS.
ABOVE AREA WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO ENTER THE REST OF THE VIN. # ----X92V044100900? MAKE AND MODEL WAS NOT AVAILABLE ON THIS CHART? I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE FROM SAID-BUSINESS OWNER OF B & R AUTO BODY AND REPAIR. THEY CLAIMED IT TO BE THEIR BUSINESS VEHICLE? I KNEW THERE WERE ISSUE AND I TOOK CARE OF THEM: BRAKES, WIND SHIELD SMALL STUFF-NO PROBLEM ON VEHICLE . WHEN I TOOK VEHICLE FOR STATE INSPECT IT FAILED DUE TO NO AIR BAG LIGHT SHOWING. I WAS AN ELECTRONIC TECH. FOR M1/BRADLY TANKS SO WAS COMFORTABLE TEARING DASH APART TO EXAMINE LIGHT FOR DAMAGES. WOULD HAVE FIXED IF NECESSARY? ONCE I GOT INSIDE I FINED SOMEONE HAD DELIBERATELY TAPED BLACK ELECTRIC TAPE OVER LIGHT SO IT WOULD NOT SHOW A DEFAULT BY CONSTANTLY STAYING ON. I TOOK TAPE OFF WITH TWEEZER-HAVE SPOKE TO STATE POLICE AND WANT TO FILE MORE CHARGES AGAINST PREVIOUS OWNER FOR RECKLESS ENDANGERMENT OF MY LIFE & OTHERS. THIS WAS A DELIBERATE ACT TO DEFRAUD/HURT SOMEONE? FINGER PRINTS ON TAPE WILL SAY WHO DID IT. MY SUSPICIONS IS BRIAN OWNER OF VEHICLE/BUSINESS. IF AIRBAGS ARE SO IMPORTANT TO MY VEHICLE AND ITS SAFETY-NOT WORKING CAUSES IT TO FAIL TEST-THEN TAMPERING WITH THE ELECTRONICS TO DEFRAUD SOMEONE SHOULD HOLD EQUAL OFFENSE IN STATE OF VA. OR ELSEWHERE. THIS MAN ENDANGERED MY LIFE!
GOING ON A SMALL TRIP, AND MY PASSENGER, A RATHER LARGE MAN, SAT IN PASS FRONT SEAT, AND THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON THE DASHBOARD, AND THE CLOCK STARTED FLASHING. BROUGHT TO BRAINTREE TOYOTA, NEAREST DEALERSHIP THAT WORKED ON SUZUKIS, AND THEY WERE ABLE TO RECALIBRATE UNDER PASS SEAT, RESET, AND ALL WORKED UNTIL A FEW MONTHS LATER, WHEN THE SAME MAN SAT IN THE PASS SEAT, AND AGAIN, THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CLOCK FLASHED, AND HAS BEEN EVER SINCE. I HAVE BEEN LIVING WITH THIS PROBLEM NOW FOR ABOUT 3-4 YEARS AND WAS TOLD THAT THE PARTS TO REPLACE WOULD BE SENSORS AT A COST OF ABOUT 1500.00 TO ME, AT MASTRIA SUZUKI. *TR
THIS PROBLEM WAS FIRST NOTICED AT APPROXIMATELY 40,000 MILES IN 2009 BUT DISAPPEARED THEN RETURNED IN 2013. THE CLOCK/TEMP WOULD FLASH AND THE PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHT WOULD STAY ON. AT TIMES WE WERE ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE, TURN IT OFF, THEN RESTART AND ATTACH THE PASSENGER SEATBELT ONLY AFTER THE INITIAL PASSENGER SEATBELT LIGHT CAME ON AND THE FLASHING WOULD STOP. HOWEVER THE INCIDENTS HAVE BECOME MORE FREQUENT AND NOW THE CLOCK/TEMP CONTINUES TO FLASH, THE PASSENGER SEATBELT LIGHT STAYS ON AND NOTHING CAN BE DONE TO TURN IT OFF. CALLED THE DEALER WHO SAYS THE FRONT SEAT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED EVEN THOUGH THERE ARE NO CODES WHEN CONNECTED TO THE DIAGNOSTIC COMPUTER. AFTER TALKING TO OTHER SUZUKI OWNERS WE FOUND THIS HAS BEEN A COMMON PROBLEM AND APPEARS TO BE A DEFECT IN MANUFACTURE YET THERE HAVE BEEN NO RECALLS. *TR
THE AIR BAG DASH LITE CAME ON, WHEN TAKEN IN FOR REPAIR THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT THEY HAVE SEEN SEVERAL LIKE THIS AND THAT IT WAS A DEFECTIVE PASSENGER SEAT SENSOR, THE FIX IS TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE SEAT? IF THIS IS HAPPENING TO SEVERAL PEOPLE WHY NOT A RECALL? THE COST T REPLACE THE SEAT OVER $2000. *TR
AFTER A SNOW STORM WE GOT INTO OUR VEHICLE AND STARTED IT TO WARM IT UP. THE AIRBAG LIGHT WOULDN'T GO OFF AND THE DISPLAY ON THE STEREO FLASHED CONTINUOUSLY. FROM THIS POINT ON, THESE DISPLAYS CONTINUE TO STAY ON AT ALL TIMES. AFTER CHECKING WITH THE DEAL AND SUZUKI, WE WERE TOLD THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG SENSOR IS BROKEN. IT CAN HAPPEN FROM SITTING THINGS ON THE SEAT OTHER THAN A PERSON, A HEAVY PERSON ON THE SEAT, NORMAL EVERY DAY USE, AND FINALLY THE COLD. I'M TOLD THE CONSEQUENCE OF THIS IS THAT THE PASSENGER AIR BAG IS OFF AND WILL REMAIN OFF FROM THAT POINT ON. THE ONLY FIX IS TO REPLACE THE SEAT WITH THE SENSOR WHICH CAN RANGE BETWEEN $2000 AND $1000 DEPENDING ON THE DEALER YOU TALK TOO. THERE IS NO EXPLANATION OF THE RADIO DISPLAY FLASHING OTHER THAN SOMEHOW THE ELECTRONICS ARE LINKED TOGETHER. I BELIEVE A RECALL SHOULD BE IN PLACE TO FIX THIS FAULTY SENSOR WITH AN EXTREMELY HIGH COST TO AN AVERAGE USER TO REPLACE AS IT RENDERS THE AIRBAG USELESS FOR THE PASSENGER OF THE VEHICLE. THERE IS NO COST EFFECTIVE WAY FOR THE CONSUMER TO FIX IT, IT REDUCES THE SAFETY OF THE PASSENGER IN THE VEHICLE. I'VE READ MANY COMPLAINTS IN FORUMS ACROSS THE NET WITH THIS EXACT PROBLEM. IT REQUIRES ALSO THAT A LICENSED PROFESSIONAL BE USED TO FIX THE ISSUE WHICH INCREASES THE COST SIGNIFICANTLY TO THE CONSUMER. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 SUZUKI XL-7. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 55 MPH AND NOTICED THAT THE PASSENGER'S SIDE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED WITH THE PASSENGER SEAT UNOCCUPIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,000. UPDATED 01/07/14*LJ
OUR 2004 SUZUKI XL7 HAS RUN WONDERFULLY WITH FULL MAINTENANCE SINCE IT WAS NEW. HOWEVER JUST THIS LAST MONTH OUT OF NO WHERE FOR NO REASON THE AIRBAG LIGHT ON THE DASH DISPLAY CAME ON AND HAS BEEN ON SINCE. THE CLOCK FLASHES AND CAN NOT BE SET IT JUST FLASHES. THE CODES APPEAR TO SAY WE NEED TO PAY 2000 OR MORE TO REPLACE THE WHOLE SEAT. THIS APPEARS TO BE A DEFECT IN THE SENSOR FOR THE AIRBAG, WHICH SUZUKI DOESN'T FEEL THEY SHOULD REPLACE. WE'VE CONTACTED THEM AND WERE TOLD IT WAS NOT A DEFECT IT HAPPENED AFTER WARRANTY. *TR
I HAVE READ ABOUT THE RECALL ON SUZUKI VEHICLES DATED 09/17/2013 THAT ARE HAVING AN ISSUE WITH THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT AIR BAG SENSOR NOT KNOWING IF A CHILD OR AN ADULT IS ON THE SEAT, THERE FORE CAUSING THE BAG TO DEPLOY EVEN IF A SMALL CHILD IS IN THE SEAT. I HAVE THE SAME ISSUE WITH MY VEHICLE EXCEPT IT IS A 2004 MODEL WHICH DID NOT QUALIFY FOR THE RECALL, THOUGH I DO NOT KNOW WHY. *TR
ENTERED VEHICLE TO GO TO SERVICE CENTER FOR OTHER SERVICE AND AIR BAG LIGHT REMAINED ON AND AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO RESET, SHUTTING VEHICLE OFF GETTING OUT AND RE-SEATING MY SELF THE SYSTEM REMAINS INOPERATIVE TO THIS DATE. CODE SCANNER SAYS PASSENGER SEAT MUST BE REPLACED TO REMEDY PROBLEM. COST OF PARTS $2500.00 PLUS LABOR. AFTER DISCUSSION WITH SEVERAL OTHER SUZUKI OWNERS WE FEEL THAT THIS IS A CONSTANT PROBLEM WITH THE SUZUKI AND SHOULD BE RESOLVED BY THE MANUFACTURER. IT IS NOT SAFE TO HAVE A VEHICLE WITHOUT THE AIR BAGS BEING OPERATIONAL. WE HAVE OWNED THIS VEHICLE SINCE 2004, IT WAS NEW. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 SUZUKI GRAND VITARA XL-7. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE PARKED, HE NOTICED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT, WHO WAS A MECHANIC, INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND FOUND THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE SEAT SENSOR AND THE BODY CONTROL MODULE WOULD REQUIRE REPLACEMENT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A MANUFACTURER'S RECALL FOR THE AIR BAGS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 SUZUKI XL-7. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PASSENGER'S SIDE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED WITH THE PASSENGER SEAT UNOCCUPIED. THE CONTACT DID NOT TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER OR MECHANIC FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,400.
WE GOT INTO OUR CAR AT THE AIRPORT AFTER A FRIEND DROVE MY CAR OVER & PICKED US UP. THE CAR WAS RUNNING WHEN WE GOT IN. AS SOON AS MY HUSBAND SAT IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT, THE CLOCK STARTED FLASHING & AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON & STAYED ON WHILE DRIVING. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP, THEY WANT TO CHARGE $110 TO DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE & APPROX. $2000 TO REPLACE THE PASSENGER SEAT IF DIAGNOSIS SHOWS THE SEAT MALFUNCTIONED. THEY TOLD ME IT IS SAFE TO DRIVE BUT THE AIRBAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY IN A CRASH. THIS DOES NOT SOUND SAFE! SUZUKI SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO FIX THIS PROBLEM FREE OF CHARGE SINCE THERE ARE SO MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME PROBLEM HAPPENING ON THIS YEAR & MODEL OF SUZUKI. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, IT IS NOT A COSMETIC PROBLEM WITH THE TRUCK. *TR
I STARTED MY CAR AND THE AIR BAG LIGHT WENT ON AND THE CLOCK IS BLINKING LOOKED ONLINE SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM IN ALMOST EVERY MAKE OF SUZUKI CALLED THE DEALERSHIP THEY SAID ITS A COMMON PROBLEM BUT NOT COVERED WILL COST 2 GRAND FOR A NEW PASSENGER SEAT TO FIX THE PROBLEM. *TR
ON A 2004 SUZUKI XL7 HAVING 140,000 MILES THE CLOCK/TEMP DISPLAY IS FLASHING AND AIRBAG LIGHT ON INSTRUMENT PANEL REMAINS ON. *TR
AIRBAG LIGHT STAY LIGHT AND CLOCK KEEPS FLASHING. *TR
AFTER REPLACING THE BATTERY, MY CLOCK STARTED FLASHING AND MY AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON. NOTHING THAT HAS BEEN TRIED HAS REMEDIED EITHER PROBLEM. THERE IS NO SUZUKI DEALERSHIP IN MY AREA. I WAS TOLD BY A MECHANIC THAT IF I HAVE AN ACCIDENT, MY AIRBAG WILL NOT DEPLOY OR WORK PROPERLY. *KB
AIR BAG LIGHT STAYS ON HAD AUTO TO SUZUKI DEALER 3 TIME. LIGHT STILL ON THEY CHANGED CONTROL MODEL, SEAT SENSOR. I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS PROBLEM. THE CAR WAS NEVER WRECKED OR ANY DAMAGE TO IT. THEY ARE ORDERING A CLOCK SPRING WHICH I THINK IS WHOLE AIR BAG SYSTEM, I HAVE PAID 3200.00 DOLLARS WITH THE AIR BAG LIGHT THAT IS STILL ON. *TR
"AIRBAG" LIGHT ON AND CLOCK/TEMP DISPLAY FLASHES. THIS SYMPTOM WAS REPORTED TO SUZUKI MOTORS USA AS A SAFETY CONCERN SOON AFTER THE VEHICLE BEGAN SELLING BECAUSE THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG MIGHT NOT DEPLOY IN CASE OF AN ACCIDENT. SUZUKI MOTORS USA ACKNOWLEDGED THE PROBLEM AND MADE AVAILABLE A NEW "ADJUSTER SET FRONT RIGHT" FOR REPLACEMENT. SUZUKI MOTORS WILL NOT REPLACE THE BAD COMPONENT, IT IS REQUIRING CUSTOMERS TO PAY THE 1HR LABOR + $1500 PART COST FOR VEHICLES THAT ARE PAST THE FACTORY WARRANTY (36 MONTHS, 100K MILES). THE COST TO CORRECT THE SAFETY PROBLEM SHOULD BE PAID SUZUKI MOTORS USA. *TR
AIR BAG INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON AND CLOCK STOPPED WORKING-MECHANIC STATED THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE PASSENGER SEAT SENSOR IN THIS MODEL-THEY WANTED $100 TO PUT ON COMPUTER TO VERIFY AND IT WOULD BE $2000 TO REPAIR-IF GOV MANDATES AIR BAGS IN VEHICLES IT SHOULD MANDATE A RECALL IF THERE IS A KNOWN PROBLEM-I HAVE RESEARCHED AND OTHER XL-7 OWNERS HAVE SAME PROBLEM AROUND THE SAME MILEAGE-HE ALSO STATED THE AIR BAGS MAY NOT WORK IN A CRASH-I HAVE A 98 DODGE WITH AIR BAGS WITH OVER 125,000 MILES WITH NO PROBLEMS WITH SENSORS-IT WOULD BE NICE IF OUR GOV. WOULD STEP UP AND MAKE THE COMPANY REPAIR THIS PROBLEM DUE TO SAFETY-IF IT DEALT WITH THE ENGINE/BRAKES ETC. I WOULD NOT HAVE A PROBLEM BUT WHEN SOMEONE SITS ON A SENSOR AND THERE IS MALFUNCTION IT APPEARS TO BE DEFECTIVE EQUIPMENT ON THEIR PART. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 SUZUKI GRAND VITARA XL-7. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG LIGHT WAS CONSTANTLY ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000. UPDATED 02/15/12*BF UPDATED 02/29/12
ON A 2004 SUZUKI XL7 HAVING 58,000 MILES THE CLOCK/TEMP DISPLAY IS FLASHING AND AIRBAG LIGHT ON INSTRUMENT PANEL REMAINS ON. THE PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHT IS NOT LIT INDICATING THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THIS PORTION OF THE AIRBAG SYSTEM. THE SUZUKI DEALER INFORMED ME THAT BESIDES THE PASSENGER AIR BAG BEING NON-FUNCTIONAL AS LONG AS THE INSTRUMENT PANELS RED AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON THERE WILL BE NO DEPLOYMENT OF THE PASSENGER OR DRIVER AIR BAGS WHEN NEEDED. ESSENTIALLY, THE WHOLE SYSTEM IS DISABLED. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL ITEM FOR TWO REASONS: IT IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE FOR A 2004 SUZUKI GRAND VITARA / XL7 (AS SEEN BY THE MANY INTERNET POSTINGS ON THIS TOPIC) AND DUE TO THE SAFETY CONCERNS THAT ABSENCE OF AIRBAGS IN A CRASH CAN INCREASE THE LIKELIHOOD OF INJURY OR DEATH. OTHER INTERNET POSTINGS SHOW THIS TO BE FROM CERTAIN LOADING CONDITIONS THAT MAY CAUSE THE FOUR WEIGHT SENSORS IN THE FRONT PASSENGERS SEAT TO SENSE UNEQUAL LOADING. IT IS INTERESTING THIS IS FROM UNEQUAL LOADING SENSOR MALFUNCTION BECAUSE FOR MOST OF CARS LIFE THERE HAS NOT BEEN AN OCCUPANT IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. SUGGESTS THAT THIS COMPONENT WOULD HAVE FAILED SOONER HAD THERE BEEN A REGULAR FRONT SEAT PASSENGER.
2004 SUZUKI XL7 AIRBAG SYSTEM DISABLED DUE TO MALFUNCTION IN SENSOR IN PASSENGER SEAT. SUZUKI REFUSED TO HELP AND TOOK 20 DAYS TO REPLY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 SUZUKI XL7. WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT WOULD ILLUMINATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS INSPECTED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE SEAT SENSOR WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. NO REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 104,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
SEAT BELT LIGHT REMAINS ON, 2004 SUZUKI, XL-7, VIN [XXX]. AS I STARTED THE VEHICLE, I HAD A PASSENGER IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT FASTEN HIS SEAT BELT. THE AIR BAG LIGHT IN THE DASH, REMAINED ON AND THE CLOCK STARTED FLASHING, (THE CLOCK IS ON THE SAME ELECTRIC CIRCUIT AS THE PASSENGER SEAT BELT/AIR BAG INDICATOR). AFTER TAKING THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, I WAS INFORMED THAT THE PASSENGER AIR BAG CIRCUIT WAS DEFECTIVE AND WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF ALMOST $1800. THE CIRCUIT WAS AN INTEGRATED PART OF THE SEAT, THEREFORE THE ENTIRE SEAT WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 55,000 MILES AND HAS BEEN SERVICED REGULARLY. I AM NOT AWARE OF ANY SUCH AIR BAG SYSTEM FAILURE OF THIS TYPE ON ANY OTHER MAKE OF VEHICLE, REGARDLESS OF MODEL OR YEAR. I DID NOTE THAT THIS SAME TYPE OF FAILURE WAS REPORTED PREVIOUSLY TO NHTSA FOR THE EXACT SAME MAKE, MODEL AND YEAR SUZUKI VEHICLE. THE DEALER AND SUZUKI ARE UNWILLING TO COVER THE COST OF REPLACING THIS PART AND UNWILLING TO NEGOTIATE ON SHARING THE COST OF REPLACEMENT. I FIRMLY BELIEVE THIS REPRESENTS A CRITICAL SAFETY DEFECT THAT SHOULD BE COVERED BY SUZUKI MOTOR CORPORATION, BEYOND 3 YEARS/36,000 MILES, IN A SIMILAR MANNER AS THE 100,000 MILE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY. I FEEL IT SHOULD BE HANDLED SIMILAR TO OTHER SAFETY RECALLS. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).*TR
I PURCHASED A NEW 2004 SUZUKI XL MY AIR BAG LIGHT HAVE BEEN FOR 3 YR AND KNOW ONE CAN TELL ME WHY , MY CLOCK FLASHING AND DON'T KEEP TIME. I HAVE PURCHASED A NEW BATTERY. WHEN CRACKING UP ENGINE IT SOUND LIKE IT IS GOING TO EXPLORE AND SOMETHING IT WILL START TO SMOKE. *TR
MY 2004 SUZUKI XL7 PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHT BEGAN TO FLASH INDICATING THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE SENSOR. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE SUZUKI DEALER AND THEY WANTED ALMOST $2000.00 TO REPLACE DEFECTIVE PASSENGER AIR BAG SYSTEM. I CHECKED ONLINE FOR A POSSIBLE RECALL, BUT NO LUCK, HOWEVER I DISCOVERED THIS IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE FOR A 2004 SUZUKI XL7. THE SUZUKI DEALER INFORMED ME THAT THERE IS NO GUARANTEE THE AIR BAGS WILL FUNCTION PROPERLY WHILE THE AIR BAG SENSOR IS MALFUNCTIONING. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL ITEM DUE TO THE SAFETY CONCERNS. SUZUKI SELLS A REPLACEMENT PART THAT CORRECTS THE PROBLEM KNOWING THEY SOLD A DEFECTIVE PART THAT MAY CAUSE INJURY OR DEATH IF THE AIR BAGS MALFUNCTION. *TR
AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AND CLOCK KEEPS FLASHING. SUZUKI SAYS IT IS A FAILED SENSOR UNDER THE PASSENGER SEAT WHICH WOULD COST $1,000+ TO FIX. FAILURE TO FIX CAN CAUSE THE AIRBAG TO POSSIBLY NOT DEPLOY CORRECTLY. THIS SEEMS LIKE A HIGH-COST SAFETY FIX CONSIDERING NO CAR DAMAGE AND IT IS A FAILED COMPONENT. *TR
AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON IN JULY 2010 FOR MY SUZUKI XL-7. CAR WAS TAKEN TO SUZUKI DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED PROBLEM (FOR $150) AS A DEFECTIVE AIRBAG SENSING AND DIAGNOSTIC MODULE ($1,232). HOWEVER, DEALER DID NOT GUARANTEE THIS FIX WOULD SOLVE PROBLEM. MANY INTERNET COMMENTS DESCRIBE MANY OTHER SUZUKI VEHICLES EXPERIENCING THIS EXACT PROBLEM THAT HAS BEEN MANIFESTING ITSELF OVER MANY YEARS. IN FACT, FOUR WHEELER MAGAZINE WROTE WHEN IT TESTED THE VEHICLE THAT IT EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM. LETTER WAS SUBSEQUENTLY SENT TO SUZUKI MOTORS IN BREA CA IN JULY 2010 DESCRIBING PROBLEM AND ASKING FOR IT TO BE REPAIRED SINCE IT IS A KNOWN AND PUBLISHED SAFETY DEFECT. THEY RESPONDED VERBALLY AND STATED THAT THE DEALER HAD NOT PROPERLY DIAGNOSED AND REPAIRED THE CAR AND ASKED ME TO RETURN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THE SUZUKI FACTORY TECH WOULD HELP THEM FIX IT. I ARRIVED TO THE DEALER AND SUZUKI DEMANDED THAT I REPAY THE DIAGNOSIS FEE OF $150 EVEN THOUGH THE PROBLEM HAD ALREADY BEEN DIAGNOSED. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM THAT AFFECTS THE SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE AND SUZUKI SHOULD RECALL THE VEHICLES AND REPAIR THE PROBLEM. *TR
2007 SUZUKI XL-7 PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHT STAYING ON AND CLOCK FLASHING. TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP WAS TOLD THE SENSOR IS UNDER THE PASSENGER SEAT AND IT WOULD COST $1,700.00 TO FIX. BUT IF I DIDN'T FIX IT WOULD BE OK THE AIR BAG WOULD WORK. *TR

THE AIR CONDITIONER WENT OUT ON OUR 2004 SUZUKI XL-7. THIS OCCURRED A COUPLE MONTHS AGO AT AROUND 60,000 MI. THE COMPRESSOR WAS BAD, $1500! NOW IT IS GOING AGAIN! I TALKED WITH A GUY AT THE REPAIR SHOP, ANOTHER XL-7 CUSTOMER, WHO SAID HE GETS ABOUT 10,000 MILES PER COMPRESSOR ON HIS, HE WAS IN FOR #4. I THINK THERE IS A PROBLEM AT THE LEAST, AND A SCAM AT WORST CASE. *TR
THAT SUZUKI FEELS THAT IT IS EASIER TO PAY PEOPLE OFF THAT HAVE LOST THERE LIFE OR THAT HAVE BEEN HURT IN A CAR ACCIDENT THAN TO PUT IN A SIMPLE PART THAT WILL PREVENT THERE CARS THEY HAVE BUILT FROM CRUSHING! I AM LETTING YOU KNOW THIS BECAUSE MY MOTHER WAS KILLED ON MAY 18, 2008 WHILE DRIVING HER SUZUKI XL 7 (2004) ON THE WAY HOME FROM SPENDING THE WEEKEND WITH HER 3 GRANDCHILDREN IN CAPE CORAL, FL. SHE WAS TRAVELING NORTH ON I-75 AND WHEN HER CAR AND ANOTHER COLLIDED. OUR LIVES WHERE CHANGED FOREVER. MY MOTHERS CAR ROLLED 2.5 TIMES AND LANDED ON THE ROOF SIDE AND HER CAR WAS CRUSHED BEYOND ANYTHING YOU COULD IMAGINE. THEY COULD NOT GET THROUGH THE METAL THAT WAS ALL TANGLED AND MASHED TOGETHER, SO THEY HAD TO USE THE JAWS OF LIFE REMOVE MY MOTHER FROM HER CAR. I AM NOT WRITING YOU THIS OUT OF PITY BUT MY HEART GOES OUT TO ALL THOSE WHO ARE DRIVING A SUZUKI XL 7 (2004) THAT LITTLE DO YOU KNOW THAT IF YOU ARE TO ROLL THERE IS NO PROTECTION FOR YOU. PLEASE TAKE WHATEVER ACTION YOU FEEL YOU NEED TO DO TO PROTECT YOU AND YOUR FAMILY AND OTHERS YOU KNOW THAT MIGHT NOT BE AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM THAT SUZUKI IS AWARE OF, BUT FEEL IT IS COST EFFECTIVE TO JUST PAY PEOPLE TO KEEP THERE MOUTHS SHUT! PLEASE HELP ME FIX THIS AWFUL PROBLEM SO THAT SOMEONE ELSE DOES NOT FEEL THE PAIN THAT I AM FEELING WITH THE LOSS OF MY MOTHER. *TR
I NOTICED WHEN I STARTED MY VEHICLE IT STARTED ROUGH AND THAT THERE WERE SOME WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD. THE BATTERY,ABS,AND THE 4X4 LIGHTS WERE FLASHING. AS I PROCEEDED TO MY DESTINATION WHICH WAS ABOUT 23 MILES,I NOTICED THAT THE RADIO WAS SHUTTING OFF AND ON, WHEN I PUT THE WINDOW DOWN THE RADIO COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. THAT WHEN I STARTED TO GET CONCERNED ESPECIALLY I WAS ON THE EXPRESSWAY. WHEN I GOT OFF THE EXRESSWAY I NOTICED THAT MY FUEL LIGHT GOT ON TO WHERE THE NEEDLE WAS ALL THE WAY DOWN ON EMPTY, JUST AS I WAS TURNING IN TO A SIDE STREET WITH ON COMING TRAFFIC MY VEHICLES ENGINE JUST SHUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD AS I WAS TURNING. I THEN CRUISED IN NEUTRAL TO THE SIDE STREET WHERE THEN I CALL FOR A TOW TRUCK. MY VEHICLE IS PRACTICALLY NEW ONLY 4 YEAR OLD AND HAS 33,500 MILES ON IT. SINCE I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP EVERY 3,000 MILES FOR COMPLETE CHECKUP OF THE VEHICLE WHICH IS A 2004 SUZUKI XL7. I DID TAKE MY SUZUKI TO A MECHANIC AND THEY FOUND THAT THE ALTERNATOR WENT BAD . *TR
ACCIDENTAL EMERGENCY BRAKE ACTIVATION. ONLY ONE WHEEL LOCKED UP THAT ON PASSENGER SIDE CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SPIN OUT OF CONTROL INTO A GUARDRAIL. ALSO, AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND SEATBELT RESTRAINTS ALLOWED UPPER BODY TO MOVE FREELY INTO INTERIOR COMPONENTS. *TR

BRAKES MADE LOUD GRINDING NOISE, HAVE HAD BRAKE PADS/LINERS REPLACE 3 TIMES IN THE LAST SEVERAL MONTHS. PROBLEM WILL NOT RESOLVE. BRAKE PEDAL BECOMES MUSHY AND ABS HAS FAILED SEVERAL TIMES. SEAT BELTS LOCK AND STAY LOCKED AT THE SLIGHTEST BRAKING PRESSURE AND/OR VEHICLE SPEED AND DO NOT RELEASE FOR SEVERAL MINUTES. THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM THAT NO ONE SEEMS TO WANT TO ADDRESS. *JB
WHILE MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING OUR SUZUKI XL7 2004, THE PASSENGER DOOR ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE, BEGAN TO SHOW SOME SMOKE. SUDDENLY, FLAMES STARTED TO COME OUT FROM THE POWER WINDOW BUTTON. THE FIRE WAS PUT OUT WITH WATER. WHEN THE PANAL WAS REMOVED, APPARENTLY THE FIRE WAS DUE TO THE WIRING SYSTEM. THE FIRE DAMAGED THE POWER WINDOW BUTTON, THE PANEL AND THE WIRING UP TO OUR KNOWLEDGE AND AFTER JUST A VISUAL INSPECTION. MY DAUGHTER SUFFERED AN ASMA ATTACK THAT EVENING DUE TO SMOKE INHALATION. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING BECAUSE I HAD EXCEEDED MY WARRANTY PERIOD OF 3/36,000. THEY ALSO CALLED THE CENTRAL OFFICES TO VERIFY IF THE SITUATION HAD BEEN REPORTED BY ANOTHER CONSUMER IN WHICH THEY RESPONDED THAT THIS WAS THE FIRST REPORT REGARDING THIS EVENT. CURRENTLY MY VEHICLE IS 3 YRS 4 MONTHS OLD WITH APROX. 44, 600 MILES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT CHECKED, AND I WAS TOLD THAT I SHOULD MAKE A CLAIM TO MY INSURANCE IN ORDER TO HAVE IT REVISED AND FIXED. CURRENTLY THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. *NM

THE CONTACT PURCHASED HER CAR ON 11/20/03, AND ON 01/21/04 THE CONTACT HAD TO RETURN IT TO THE DEALER BECAUSE HER BRAKES WERE GRINDING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WERE NO BAD ROAD CONDITIONS, AND THAT SHE WAS DRIVING 35 MPH. THE CONTACT STATED THAT IN A 2 YEARS PERIOD SHE HAS TAKEN HER CAR TO THE DEALER NINE TIMES AND TO AN OUTSIDE MECHANIC 5 TIMES AND EACH TIME THE PROBLEM WAS WITH HER BRAKES. AIR BAG LIGHT ON AND RADIO FLASHING. TOOK CAR INTO DEALER, I WAS TOLD HE KNEW EXACTLY WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS, ALREADY HAD ANOTHER VEHICLE IN EARLIER THE SAME DAY WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG SENSOR UNDER THE SEAT HAD GONE OUT. WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE BOTTOM OF THE SEAT AT A COST OF OVER $1000.00. NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND THE AIR BAG WILL NOT WORK WITHOUT THE SENOR. THIS IS A 2004 MODEL VEHICLE THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE IS RARELY IF EVER USED. AN AIR BAG SENSOR GOING OUT WITHIN A YEAR AND WITH MORE THAN ONE CAR IN THE SAME DAY SEEMS TO BE A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE RESOLVED IMMEDIATELY. OBVIOUSLY THERE IS A DEFECT IF MY CAR IS NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH A SIMILAR PROBLEM. *NM
DRIVING SOUTH ON INTERSTATE 81 (MILE MARKER 109-110) SEVERAL CARS, INCLUDING MYSELF, LOST CONTROL OF THEIR VEHICLES (HYDROPLANING) THROUGH THIS SECTION OF THE HIGHWAY. IT WAS APPARENTLY A KNOWN PROBLEM AREA TO EMERGENCY PERSONNEL, POLICE AND TOW COMPANIES AND FROM TALKING TO ALL OF THEM PENN DOT REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. THE LOCALS CALL IT 'DEAD MAN'S TRAP' OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT. THE TOWING COMPANY HAD ALREADY PICKED UP 5 CARS THAT AFTERNOON. THERE ARE NO GUARD RAILS AND I WENT OVER AN EMBANKMENT, THROUGH THE WOODS AND HIT A TREE DEAD ON AND CENTER. I WAS DRIVING A 2004 SUZUKI XL7. IT SMASHED THE FRONT BUMPER THROUGH THE RADIATOR. THE AIR-BAGS NEVER DEPLOYED. LESS THAN A MONTH AGO I HAD THIS VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE (UNDER WARRANTY) BECAUSE THE "AIR-BAG DISENGAGED" LIGHT WAS COMING ON AND STAYING ON. THE COMPUTER WAS REPLACED ON THE VEHICLE APPROXIMATELY. 2 WEEKS BEFORE THE CRASH. I ALWAYS WEAR A SEAT BELT AND AM THANKFUL IT DID ITS JOB! I AM ALSO PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE WITH ALL THE SPINNING, BOUNCING OFF TREES GOING DOWN HILL THAT MY SUV NEVER ROLLED. MY BIGGEST CONCERN IS THE FAILURE OF THE AIRBAGS TO DEPLOY WHEN HIT WITH SUCH FORCE DEAD CENTER IN THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. *JB
THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON. CALLED HERTZ THROUGH WHOM WE HAVE A MAINTENANCE AGREEMENT FOR OIL CHANGES AND SUCH. HERTZ SCHEDULED US IN RIGHT AWAY BECAUSE IT WAS A SAFETY ISSUE. HERTZ TOOK IT TO THE LOCAL SUZUKI DEALERSHIP, JIM SMOLICH MOTORS. JSM TOLD HERTZ THAT THE AIR BAG SYSTEM WAS GROUNDING OUT AND THAT IT WAS A KNOWN ISSUE. AIR BAGS CAN DEPLOY AT WILL WITH THIS PROBLEM. JSM TRIED TO CONTACT SUZUKI NA TO SEE IF THEY WOULD COVER A KNOWN ISSUE SINCE VEHICLE WARRANTY OUT 5,000 MILES. JSM CONTACTED HERTZ AND LET THEM KNOW THAT THIS WOULD NOT BE COVERED. HERTZ TOLD ME. ALSO TO ASK HOW TO PROCEED AS THIS WILL COST $1,500. I CONTACTED JSM, GOT VOICEMAIL SO I CALLED SUZUKI NA. I REPORTED THE PROBLEM TO THE CSR. SHE CONTACTED THE DISTRICT SERVICE MANAGER CHRIS WHO WAS GOING TO JSM WHO SEEMED UNAWARE OF THE SITUATION UP TILL THAT POINT. HE SAID HE WOULD REVIEW THE SITUATION AND MAKE A DECISION. I CALLED JSM, SPOKE TO CRAIG, SERVICE ADVISOR. CRAIG TOLD ME THAT ''A DEALERSHIP WILL USUALLY SHOW GOOD FAITH AND DO A REPAIR SUCH AS THAT OUT OF WARRANTY BUT SINCE I DIDN'T BUY MY CAR AT THEIR DEALERSHIP THEY WERE NOT GOING TO EAT IT. I TOLD HIM IT WASN'T ABOUT HIS DEALERSHIP IT WAS ABOUT A KNOWN ISSUE NOT BEING DEALT WITH AND THAT CHRIS WAS UNAWARE OF MY ISSUE. HE SAID HE WOULD MAKE SURE THAT CHRIS HAD BEEN TOLD ABOUT IT BUT HE KNEW THEY HAD BEEN WORKING WITH SUZUKI ON MY ISSUE AND SUZUKI DENIED MY ISSUE SINCE MY CAR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. I TOLD HIM IT WASN'T ABOUT THE WARRANTY, IT WAS ABOUT A KNOWN SAFETY ISSUE GOING UN-ADDRESSED. HE SAID ANY CAR THAT BREAKS DOWN COULD BE CONSIDERED A SAFETY ISSUE AND THAT THINGS WEAR OUT. WAS HE SERIOUSLY COMPARING AN AIRBAG DEPLOYING AT WILL TO AN ENGINE BURNING UP BECAUSE SOMEONE DIDN'T PUT OIL IN IT, OR A WATER PUMP GOING OUT? HOW MANY CAR ACCIDENTS AND DEATHS ARE CAUSED BY A BAD BATTERY OR ALTERNATOR? ASKED SUZUKI CSR IF I NEEDED TO GET THE CAR BACK, DRIVE IT, AND LET THE AIRBAG DEPLOY IN ORDER TO GET RESOLUTION IN THIS MATTER WITH A LAWSUIT. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE ANTILOCK BRAKES FAILED WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH IN SNOW WITHOUT WARNING. THERE IS A NHTSA RECALL, # 05V452000, REGARDING THE SERVICE BRAKES HYDRAULIC. THE VEHICLE HAS THE SAME PROBLEMS AS INDICATED IN THE RECALL; HOWEVER IT IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DUE TO THE VIN.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED AFTER AN ACCIDENT, WATER BEGAN TO LEAK ON THE PASSENGER SIDE FLOORBOARD FROM UNDER THE DASH. THE DEALERSHIP DETERMINED THE WATER LEAK WAS NOT A PROBLEM. THE WATER LEAK CAUSED THE CIRCUIT BOARD TO SHORT AND THE HEATER, DEFROST, AND AIR CONDITIONER ARE NOW INOPERABLE.
DT: THE CONTACT STATES WHEN THE AUTOMATIC LIGHTS WERE ON AND THE CONTACT WENT FROM DAYLIGHT TO NIGHT THE HEADLIGHTS CAME ON, BUT THE TAIL LIGHTS WILL NOT COME ON. THIS HAPPENED CONSISTENTLY. THE TAIL LIGHTS WILL NOT COME ON UNLESS HE TURNED THEM ON MANUALLY FROM THE SWITCH. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD HIM THAT ALL OF THE XL 7S WERE THE SAME WAY.*AK
DT: 2004 SUZUKI XL7. THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL IS STICKING ON 2004 SUZUKI XL7. WHEN I APPLYING THE BRAKES IT PICKS UP SPEED. THIS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE. CONTACTED DEALERSHIP AND MANUFACTURER, AND HAD VIN CHECKED. THEY STATED THERE HAD NOT BEEN ANY RECALLS ON THIS VEHICLE. CONSUMER'S VEHICLE HIT NEIGHBOR'S POST WHICH THE CONSUMER REPAIRED, BUT NO ONE WAS INJURED. THE NEIGHBORS CALLED THE POLICE AND A POLICE REPORT WAS TAKEN. THE CONSUMER REPORTED THE ACCIDENT T INSURANCE COMPANY. THERE WAS NO FOREWARNING THAT THIS WAS GOING TO HAPPEN. THE VEHICLE WAS SITTING IN THE DRIVEWAY AND JUST TOOK OFF. *AK
WE PURCHASED A 2004 XL7 MAY 28 2004 AND CURRENTLY THE VEHICLE HAS APPROXIMATELY 38K MILES. SO FAR WE HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE BRAKE LINING TWICE SO THE VEHICLE IS NOW ON IT'S THIRD SET OF BRAKES. THIS SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM. MY FATHER ALSO HAS THE SAME VEHICLE, WITH 36K MILES. HE TOO HAS HAD THE BRAKE LINING REPLACED TWICE. THIS CANNOT BE NORMAL! PLEASE INVESTIGATE. *JB
DT: THE AIR BAG LIGHT BEGAN COMING ON ABOUT TWO MONTHS AGO. ON THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG LIGHT STAYED ON. TODAY WAS THE FOURTH TIME THAT CAR WAS TAKEN TO DEALER TO REPLACE THE PASSENGER SEAT THAT CAUSED THIS LIGHT TO GO OFF FOR A FEW DAYS. THE DIGITAL CLOCK ALSO BEGINS TO FLASH. OWNER WAS TOLD THAT THE AIRBAG COULD DEPLOY WITHOUT IMPACT OR NOT DEPLOY WHEN NEEDED. DEALERSHIP WAS COOPERATING WITH NOT CHARGING FOR REPLACEMENT OF THE SEAT OR DIAGNOSTIC.*AK
FIRST OF ALL, I AM A MOTHER OF 5 AND DO NOT MISUSE MY VEHICLE. REAR DIFFERENTIAL HAD TO BE REPLACED TWICE . THE FIRST TIME WAS IN MAY 2004. VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY IN THE SHOP FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. ALSO, HAD TO HAVE IT IN 3 TIMES FOR THE KEYLESS ENTRY, 1 TIME TO RESET AIRBAG SENSOR, I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH MY BRAKES SQUEALING. , AND HAD BRAKE FAILURE ONCE, BUT NO ACCIDENT. IN ADDITION, INTERIOR LIGHT FAILED.*AK
VEHICLE EXPERIENCED SUDDEN ACCELERATION ON ITS OWN WHILE BEING DRIVEN. DRIVER HAD TO STOMP ON BRAKES SEVERAL TIMES IN ORDER TO STOP. MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BY CONSUMER.*AK
THIS IS THE THIRD TIME THAT MY FRONT BRAKES HAVE LOCKED UP @ SPEEDS LESS THAN 35 MPH CAUSING THE ENTIRE VEHICLE TO SKID & NOT BE ABLE TO TURN. THE FIRST 2 TIMES I STOPPED IN TIME, THIS TIME I SLID FOR AT LEAST 4 SECONDS BEFORE MY VEHICLE REAR-ENDED ANOTHER. CAUSING MINOR DAMAGE TO THE OTHER VEHICLE AND HALF OF MY FRONT BUMPER SCRATCHED, DISCOLORED, AND PUSHED IN.*JB
WHILE SHIFTING THE TRANSMISSION, IT WOULD DOWN SHIFT TO A LOWER GEAR ON ITS OWN. THE CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT TO THE DEALER FOR AN INSPECTION. THE MECHANIC INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OPERATING AS DESIGNED. PLEASE FILL IN ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. *JB
ON THREE OCCASIONS BRAKES FAILED, CAUSING THE CONSUMER TO GO THROUGH STOPS SIGNS, AND LIGHTS. MASTER CYLINDER WAS REPLACED, BU TPROBLEM RECURRED. *AK
WHILE DRIVING ON AN INCLINE AT 15 MPH AND APPLYING THE BRAKE PEDAL CONSUMER HEARD A CLICKING SOUND, AND LOST BRAKINGPOWER. CONSUMER'S VEHICLE RAN INTO THE BACK OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. *AK
UNSURE OF EXACT DATE - NOT ALL THAT IMPORTANT. MY FRIEND SAT IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT OF MY 2004 SUZUKI XL7. AFTER STARTING OUT DRIVING, I NOTICED THAT MY AIRBAG LIGHT WAS ON, AND MY CLOCK WAS FLASHING. I CONTACTED THE LOCAL SUZUKI DEALERSHIP AND THEY STATED THAT BECAUSE THE FRONT PASSENGER WEIGHED OVER APPROXIMATELY 225 POUNDS, THAT THE SENSOR IN THE ADVANCED AIR BAG SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE RESET. THE DEALERSHIP STATED THIS IS A KNOWN DEFECT, AND THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SAFE TO DRIVE. DEALERSHIP ALSO STATED THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH OTHER MAKES/MODELS OF VEHICLES, AND IT NOT ONLY EFFECTS SUZUKI, BUT OTHERS AS WELL. THIS IS A MAJOR CONCERN AS THERE ARE MANY TIMES THAT I WILL HAVE SOMEONE OVER APPROX. 225 POUNDS SITTING IN MY VEHICLE. AM I SUPPOSE TO GO TO THE DEALERSHIP ONCE A WEEK TO GET THIS SENSOR RESET? PLEASE ADVISE AS TO THE ISSUE AND CORRECTIONS THAT ARE BEING TAKEN. *AK
WHILE DRIVING ON FLAT ROAD, THE VEHICLE DID NOT ACCELERATE OVER 50-60 MPH. THE DEALERSHIP WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *AK THE CONSUMER PURCHASED THE VEHICLE WITH WHAT SHE THOUGHT WAS MINOR COSMETIC PROBLEMS THEN THEY STARTED TO GET WORSE AS TIME WENT ON, THERE WAS A DRAGGING WHICH CAME FROM THE REAR INTERIOR, THE SEAT BELT HOLDERS RATTLED, THE LEATHER SEATS HAD SINK HOLES WHERE THE BATTING WAS COMING FROM THE LEATHER, AND THERE WAS A LOUD ROAR COMING FROM THE ENGINE. *SCC *JB

ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES, UNDER AMBIENT TEMPERATURES BELOW -25 DEGREES CELSIUS, MOISTURE CAN FREEZE IN THE FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR. AS A RESULT, FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE MAY INCREASE AT THE TIME OF ENGINE START UP, CAUSING FUEL LOSS AT THE FUEL PIPE/FUEL HOSE CONNECTION.
SUZUKI RECALL NO. 99-ER. CUSTOMERS CAN ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S AUTO SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-DASH-2-DOT (1-888-327-4236).
