MY VAN HESITATES BETWEEN 2 AND 3 RPM'S. ESPECIALLY GOING UP A HILL, THE ENGINE LIGHT WILL BLINK FOR A FEW SECONDS. THEN ENGINE LIGHT CONTINUES TO STAY ON..THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR IS MALFUNCTIONING.. WHEEL BEARING IN THE REAR NEED REPLACEMENT.. AND THERE DOES APPEAR TO BE AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE.. RADIO SKIPS, INTERIOR LIGHTS DON'T WORK AT ALL.. THE DRIVERS SIDE SEAT DOESN'T HEAT. THERES BARELY ANY HEAT EVEN WHEN GAUGE READS THE ENGINE IS NORMALLY WARM..
THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT DOES NOT BUCKLE INTO THE LATCH. THERE'S A METAL PIECE INSIDE THE LATCH BLOCKING IT FROM SLIDING IN AND SNAPPING IN. THIS STARTED HAPPENING A FEW DAYS AGO, PREVENTING ME FROM DRIVING THE VAN SINCE I CAN'T USE MY SEAT BELT.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN I-75 IN MICHIGAN DOING ~75MPH, I FEEL A SHARP TUG THEN A SWAY. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE HOME AND INSPECTED IT. THE WELDS ON THE BODY TO THE ATTACHING POINT OF THE REAR AXLE HAD BROKEN AND THE REAR END OF THE VEHICLE WAS TRACKING SIDEWAYS. THANK GOD NOTHING BAD HAPPENED, WE HAD ALL SIX OF OUR KIDS WITH US WHEN IT WENT OUT AT 75MPH.
DRIVING THE VEHICLE ALONG THE INTERSTATE AT 65 MPH AT NIGHT, THE IGNITION SWITCH RUN POSITION ROTATED TO OFF AND THE ENGINE AND ALL HEADLIGHTS, DASH, ETC, SHUTDOWN ALONG WITH THE POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES. THE INCIDENT HAS JUST STARTED HAPPENING AND 340,000 MILES ON IT. ONLY WAY TO GET ROLLING IS TO PUT THE AUTO TRANS LEVER TO NEUTRAL AND TWIST THE IGNITION KEY TO CRANK POSITION AND LET KEY SETTLE TO RUN POSITION. THE IGNITION SWITCH ITSELF HAS A SPRING DETENT AND IT SETS IN A POCKET AT RUN. SO THIS SWITCH HAS A SPRING THAT OVER TIME WEAKENS AND ALLOWS THE WHOLE KEY CYLINDER ANS SWITCH TO DROP OUT OF RUN AND SHUT OFF THE ELECTRICAL. SOLUTION WAS TO PUT IN A NEW SWITCH OR JUST USE A SINGLE KEY INSTEAD OF A FULL SET OF KEYS HANGING FROM THE KEY SLOT.. THE FULL REPLACEMENT OF THE SWITCH RUNS 350$, PRTS AND LABOR.
I WAS HEARING ABOUT THE RECENT RECALL ACTIONS ABOUT CHEVY SUVS WITH WIPER BLADES. BUT, I HAVE HAD AN ISSUE WHERE MY WIPER WOULD STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE WINDSHIELD. MY VEHICLE WAS NOT IN THE RECALL, BUT, JUST MADE ME THINK, AND I WANTED TO SHARE. I PURCHASED A NEW ARM FROM GM AT MY LOCAL DEALER IN AUGUST OF 2018. SO, I THINK THAT I AM OK.
THE BACK REAR HATCH WHEN I LIFTED DROPPED! I GOT MY HANDS UP FAST ENOUGH TO STOP IT AND WAS NOT INJURED THOUGH
THE CHASSIS HAS A SERIOUS RUST ISSUE AS I'VE NEVER SEEN BEFORE. THE RUST ISSUE IS ONE THAT YOU WOULD NOT EVEN SEE ON A 60 YEAR OLD CAR. IT CAUSED THE REAR WHEEL AND ALL OF ITS COMPONENTS TO BREAK FREE. I DO HAVE PICTURES (IT'S DARK OUT RIGHT AT THE MOMENT BUT I CAN BY MORNING) I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO FIND A SOLUTION FOR THIS FOR QUIET A WHILE NOW.
2005 CHEVY UPLANDER LT. UNDERCARRIAGE RUSTED ON BACK PASSENGER SIDE WITHIN 9 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE, CAUSING SEPARATION OF THE REAR PASSENGER WHEEL FROM THE BODY OF VEHICLE. WHEN DRIVING, YOU CAN HEAR/FEEL CLUNKING/SQUEAKING NOISE WHICH SOUNDS LIKE THE TIRE IS GOING TO COME COMPLETELY OFF THE CAR. AREA AFFECTED CANNOT BE REPLACED NOR WELDED AS THIS CAN BE UNSAFE TO DRIVE. I HAVE IMAGES THAT CAN BE SENT VIA EMAIL.
MY ELECTRICAL WILL GO OUT AS I AM DRIVING. THE CAR HAS STOPPED COMPLETELY AND THE ELECTRICAL AS I WAS DRIVING. MY CAR WILL TURN ON AND THEN OFF, AND I HAVE TO DO IT ABOUT 5 TIMES BEFORE I CAN EVEN GET IT TO STAY ON AND DRIVE. SOMETIMES THE ELECTRICAL WILL STOP AFTER THAT BUT I CAN STILL DRIVE. THE IGNITION SLIPS INTO THE OFF MODE WHILE VEHICLE IS RUNNING, THUS DISABLING EVERYTHING, INCLUDING POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. I HAVE HAD IT HAPPEN WHILE MOVING OUT OF PARKING SPOTS ON A PUBLIC STREET, AND MANY TIMES AFTER START UP WHEN I'M NOT MOVING. I HAVE QUIT DRIVING IT UNTIL I CAN GET IT REPAIRED DUE TO SAFETY CONCERN.
TAMARA RECALL AS I WAS DRIVING WITH MY WHOLE FAMILY IN OUR VAN, THE LEFT TRAILING ARE BROKE OFF. THEREFORE, MY AXLE STARTED TO FALL OFF. I COULD NOT STOP US. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRAILING ARM OR THE TRAILING ARM BUSHING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. SEVERAL TIMES SINCE PURCHASING MY 2005 CHEVY UPLANDER, THE IGNITION HAS JUST SHUT OFF. NORMALLY THIS WAS WHEN IDOLING SO I WASN'T TOO SURE. HOWEVER, IT JUST TURNED OFF WHEN I WAS DRIVING 65 MPH ON A MAJOR EXPRESSWAY IN CHICAGO. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN CATASTROPHIC. THIS IGNITION SWITCH IS THE SAME ONE THAT IS CURRENTLY IN THE GM RECALL, YET IT HAS NOT BEEN RECALLED YET. PLEASE RECALL ALL VEHICLES WITH THIS IGNITION SWITCH AS MOST VEHICLES HAVE ALREADY BEEN RECALLED. WHY WAIT ON THE RECALL UNTIL MORE PEOPLE ARE IN ACCIDENTS AND POSSIBLY DIE? IT ISN'T WORTH THE RISK.
AS I AM DRIVING THE ELECTRONIC SLIDING DOOR ON THE PASSENGER SIDE STARTS TO BUZZ LIKE IT DOES WHEN THE DOOR IS OPENING AND I CAN HEAR IT CLICKING AS IF IT IS GOING TO OPEN. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES. I AM AFRAID I WILL BE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND THE DOOR WILL OPEN. *TR

THERE ARE 4 RECALLS LISTED ON THIS SITE FOR MY VEHICLE. I AM CURRENTLY HAVING THESE LISTED PROBLEMS WITH MY VEHICLE. I CALLED GM AND THEY REFUSE TO PAY FOR THESE REPAIRS DUE TO "MY VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY". I TOLD THEM THAT A WARRANTY HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH A RECALL AND THEY AGREED! IT IS DIFFICULT TO PINPOINT THE FIRST OCCURRENCE. APPROXIMATELY 1 YEAR AGO, MY WIFE MENTIONED THAT HER 2005 UPLANDER WOULD STALL AT RANDOM TIMES WHILE SHE WAS DRIVING. SHE SAID THERE SEEMED TO BE NO PATTERN TO WHEN IT WOULD HAPPEN EXCEPT SHE WAS ALWAYS MOVING AND AFTER STOPPING IT WOULD ALWAYS RESTART. WE TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC WHO FOUND NOW ISSUES WITH THE CAR. I STARTED DRIVING IT AND NEVER HAD A PROBLEM, UNTIL THE DAY I REALIZED THAT ALL YOU HAD TO DO WAS TAP THE KEY AND IT WOULD TURN OFF. I PUT MY WIFE'S KEYS IN AND SLIGHTLY TOUCHED HER KEY CHAIN AND IT TURNED RIGHT OFF. I COULDN'T BELIEVE WHAT I WAS SEEING. THEN I READ ABOUT THE GM RECALL ON KEY CYLINDERS FOR ALL THESE CARS BUILT AROUND THE SAME TIME AS MINE. I CONTACTED GM AND THEY TOLD ME OUR CAR DIDN'T QUALIFY FOR THE RECALL. I THEN READ A RECENT ARTICLE STATING THAT OUR UPLANDER HAS ONE OF THE RECALLED CYLINDERS BUT THEY DEEMED IT "SAFE" IN OUR CAR. SAFE IS COMPLETELY INACCURATE. ANY VEHICLE THAT IS SHOWING THIS PROBLEM SHOULD BE FIXED AT GM'S EXPENSE. *TR
TRANSMISSION HAS SHIFTED HARD OCCASIONALLY. NOW THE TRANSMISSION WHEN SHIFTING FROM FIRST TO SECOND DELAYS THE SHIFT ALMOST AS IF IT IS IN NEUTRAL. EVENTUALLY IT FINDS SECONDS AND CONTINUES DRIVING FINE. CHEVY DEALER SAYS "EVERYTHING IS WITHIN SPECS" BUT TO REPLACE THE "POSSIBLE PROBLEM" PART IT IS $2000 PLUS. I HAVE READ HUNDREDS OF OTHER COMPLAINS ABOUT THE SAME ISSUES. HOWEVER NO RECALL TO BE SEEN. *TR

THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE VEHICLE AND HESITATED TO ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. ADDITIONALLY, THERE WAS AN ELECTRICAL SHORTAGE FOR THE INTERIOR LIGHTING, AND HEAD GASKET NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 119,000.

THE SLIDING DOOR ON REAR PASSENGER SIDE OF VAN WOULD NOT CLOSE WITHOUT THE 'OPEN DOOR BELL' BEEPING CONSTANTLY (EVEN AFTER CLOSED). SOMETIMES AFTER RE-CLOSING, IT WOULD STOP BUT THIS EVENTUALLY BECAME A CONSTANT HAPPENING. WE LIVE IN PA. AND WERE IN FL. WHEN THIS FIRST HAPPENED, SO WE TOOK IT TO A DEALER TO HAVE IT FIXED. APPROX. A YEAR LATER, THE SAME THING HAPPENED. AGAIN, AFTER OPENING AND CLOSING THE DOOR A NUMBER OF TIMES THE BEEPING WOULD SOMETIMES STOP, BUT WHEN WE NEEDED TO USE THE DOOR, IT WOULD REPEAT. WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALER THE SECOND TIME TO HAVE IT REPAIRED. NOW, WE ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME THING AGAIN AND THE BEEPING WILL NOT STOP! THIS IS WAY TOO EXPENSIVE FOR US TO HANDLE. WE ARE SENIORS AND CANNOT AFFORD TO PAY FOR THIS KIND OF DEFECT. PLEASE HELP US! *TR

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 160,000.
THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND DRIVEABILITY WAS AFFECTED; REDUCED ACCELERATION AND REDUCED GAS MILEAGE, CODE 0404. OUR TECHNICIAN FOUND THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONTACTS IN THE EGR VALVE HAD FAILED. SINCE GM DOES NOT PRODUCE THE REPLACEMENT PARTS FOR THIS MODEL, A NEWER EGR VALVE, HARNESS AND COMPUTER REPROGRAMMING WAS NECESSARY. THE GM DEALER AND CHEVY CUSTOMER SERVICE REFUSED TO HELP UNDER OUR WARRANTY COVERAGE SINCE WE WERE OUT OF THE EMISSIONS TIME LIMIT. OUR TECH INDICATED THAT GM HAS HAD SERIOUS EGR VALVE FAILURES AND REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THIS DESIGN DEFECT EXCEPT WITH AN OBSCURE TECH BULLETIN. REPAIRS COST UPWARDS OF 800 DOLLARS.
1ST TIME WIFE DRIVING IN PARKING LOT. ENGINE SHUT OFF, NO POWER STEERING, BRAKES, DASH BOARD INSTRUMENT PANEL WENT OFF. TOTAL POWER FAILURE. COULDN'T START, NOT SURE WHAT SHE DID TO FINALLY GET IT STARTED. NOT SERVICED @ THIS TIME. 2ND TIME VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. TOWED TO PEPBOY'S. COULD NOT DIAGNOSE PROBLEM, BUT UPON PUTTING BACK TOGETHER IT STARTED WORKING. I DROVE TO GM DEALERSHIP. COULD NOT DIAGNOSE BECAUSE WAS NOT DISPLAYING ISSUE. I HAD THEIR MASTER MECHANIC DRIVE FOR WEEK AND HE CLAIMS EVERYTHING RUNNING FINE. 3RD TIME < THAN MONTH AFTER 2ND TIME I'M DRIVING +/- 40MPH. COME UP TO INTERSECTION, PUMP BRAKES TWICE IN QUICK SUCCESSION AND DASHBOARD EMERGENCY LIGHT COMES ON ALONG W/ OTHER WARNING LIGHTS. NO TIME TO TELL WHAT THEY WERE. DEPRESS BRAKE TO COME TO STOP @ INTERSECTION AND DASHBOARD GOES BACK TO NORMAL. I START OUT WHEN LIGHT TURNS GREEN AND I GET TO +/- 30MPH PUMP BRAKES TWICE AGAIN AND ENGINE SHUT OFF, NO POWER STEERING, BRAKES, LIGHTS TURNED OFF "DRIVING AT NIGHT", DASHBOARD INSTRUMENT PANEL WENT OFF. AGAIN TOTAL POWER FAILURE. I PUT IN PARK, WOULD NOT START, TURNING KEY DID NOTHING, NO POWER WHATSOEVER. I PULLED KEY OUT AND WENT TO OPEN DOOR BUT COULD NOT OPEN OR UNLOCK DOOR. I COULD NOT GET OUT OF VEHICLE!!!! AT THIS POINT I MANAGED TO FLAG SOMEONE DOWN TO ASSIST ME. THEY SUGGESTED TO PUSH OFF TO SIDE OF ROAD. I PUT KEY BACK IN AND PUT IN DRIVE "HARD TO DO BECAUSE EVERYTHING IS DIGITALLY DISPLAYED" AND GOT TO SIDE OF ROAD. I TRIED TO OPEN DOOR AGAIN AND THIS TIME IT OPENED. AS OF 04-05-14 VEHICLE BACK AT SAME GM DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY CLAIM BEFORE GM WILL EVEN CONSIDER ANY DEFECTIVE PARTS & PAYING FOR ANYTHING. I FIRST HAVE TO PAY THEM TO REMOVE AFTER MARKET RADIO THAT PREVIOUS OWNER INSTALLED TO RETURN VEHICLE BACK TO FACTORY CONDITION. I'M STILL NOT SURE WHAT GM WILL TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR EVEN AFTER THEY DO THIS & WHEN IT HAPPENS AGAIN. *TR

AND THE VAN WAS STILL RUNNING...SCARED ME TO DEATH I HAD MY 3 GRANDKIDS 11YRS,,14MTHS.,,AND 4MTHS.,,OLD WITH ME I THOUGHT WE WAS FIXING TO STRANDED OUT IN THE 38 DEGREE WEATHER..... RIGHT REAR LIGHTS (INDICATOR, BRAKE ) FAILED. TRIED TO REMOVE THE BOLTS AS PER THE VEHICLE INSTRUCTION MANUAL BUT THEY WOULD ONLY SPIN. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY COULD NOT REMOVE THE RIGHT OR THE LEFT LIGHTS. DEALERSHIP REMOVED THE PANEL AND DRILLED OUT THE SIDE TO REPLACE THE CAGE NUT WITH INSERTS. DEALERSHIP STATED THAT THE BOLTS INSIDE HAD RUSTED AND THAT I HAD TO REMOVE THE BOLTS FROM TIME TO TIME TO PREVENT IT FROM SEIZING UP. SPOKE WITH GM CUSTOMER SERVICE CITING THE FACT THAT DESIGN OF THE SYSTEM WAS FAULTY AND ASKED THEM TO REIMBURSE THE CHARGES. GM DECLINED TO COVER THE CHARGES AND WHEN I STATED THAT IT WAS A FAULTY DESIGN AND THAT I WOULD TAKE IT TO NHTSA, THEY ADVISED ME TO BRING THE VEHICLE FOR REPAIR WHEN THERE IS A RECALL.
THE TENSION RODS OR WHATEVER THEY ARE CALLED THAT KEEP THE HATCH UP, THEY BOTH WENT OUT AT THE SAME TIME AND THE HATCH CAME SLAMMING DOWN. WOULD HAVE SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED SOMEONE HAD THEY BEEN UNDER IT. VEHICLE ONLY 2 YRS OLD! THE REAR SLIDING DOOR ON THE PASSENGER SIDE CAME OPEN WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WITH MY TWO CHILDREN IN THE CAR. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS AND THE DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN UNABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THE DOORS CONTINUE TO OPEN WITHOUT WARNING WHILE DRIVING. THE CAR WAS PURCHASED NEW ON 6/7/05. I STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE DOORS RIGHT AWAY AND TOOK IT IN FOR THE FIRST REPAIR ON 7/7/05 WITH 980 MILES. THE DOORS WERE ALSO REPAIRED 7/25/05 WITH 1338 MILES, 10/25/05 WITH 2,768 MILES, AND 11/4/05 WITH 2,865 MILES. THE DOORS CONTINUED TO NOT OPEN OR CLOSE AT TIMES AND/OR THE DOOR CHIMES WOULD DING AND NOT TURN OFF FROM 2005-2012. WE TRIED TO AVOID USING THE CAR WITH THE CHILDREN AND USE OUR OTHER CAR. IN SEPTEMBER OF 2012 THE PROBLEMS WITH THE DOORS PROGRESSED AND AT TIMES IT WOULD TAKE HOURS TO GET THE DOORS TO CLOSE OR THE CHIMES WOULD NOT GO OFF AT ALL. THIS IS WHEN THE DOORS STARTED COMING OPEN WHILE THE VAN WAS IN MOTION. THE DEALERSHIP WORKED ON THE VAN AGAIN 9/28/12 WITH 52,782 MILES. FROM SEPTEMBER 2013-JUNE 2013 THE DOORS CONTINUED TO NOT WANT TO OPEN OR CLOSE AT TIMES. WE STILL TRIED TO AVOID USING THE VEHICLE WITH THE CHILDREN. THE ISSUES STARTED AGAIN IN JUNE OF 2013 WITH THE DOORS OPENING WHILE IN MOTION. I TOOK THE VAN TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP ON 7/2/13 WITH 60,873 MILES TO SERVICE THE DOORS AND FLICKERING HEADLAMPS. ON 8/2/13 I TOOK THE VAN TO THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE THE DOORS ARE OPENING AGAIN WHILE IN MOTION AND I REFUSE TO PICK IT UP DUE TO DANGEROUS CONDITIONS. *TR
A DRIVER PARKED HER VEHICLE SUCH THAT THE REAR OF HER VEHICLE WAS FACING DOWNHILL. SHE THOUGHT SHE PLACED THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND TURNED THE IGNITION OFF. SHE LEFT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION AND BEGAN TO CLEAN THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE FROM THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE. HER TWO YEAR OLD SON WAS STANDING ON THE DRIVERS SEAT. WHILE SHE WAS CLEANING THE INTERIOR, SHE HEARD A CLICK AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO ROLL BACKWARDS. SHE WAS UNABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE FROM ROLLING BACKWARDS. SHE WAS INJURED BY STATIONARY OBJECTS LOCATED OUTSIDE AND ALONG THE PATH OF THE MOVING VEHICLE. A REVIEW OF THE OPERATION OF THE GEAR SHIFT LEVER FOUND THE FOLLOWING: IN THIS VEHICLE, IT WAS POSSIBLE TO POSITION THE GEAR SHIFT LEVER BETWEEN THE PARK AND REVERSE POSITIONS. IN THIS INTERMEDIATE POSITION, THE GEAR SHIFT LEVER ENGAGED THE PARKING PAWL IN THE TRANSMISSION SYSTEM WHICH PREVENTED THE VEHICLE FROM MOVING. HOWEVER, THE GEAR SHIFT LEVER WAS NOT LOCKED IN POSITION, AND THE LEVER WAS MOVABLE. A FORCE WAS NECESSARY TO OVERCOME THE RESISTANCE HOLDING THE LEVER IN THE INTERMEDIATE POSITION. THE FORCE COULD HAVE BEEN CAUSED BY LEVER CONTACT OR VEHICLE JOSTLING. THE LEVER MOVED, AND THE PARKING PAWL RELEASED THE WHEELS ALLOWING THE VEHICLE TO MOVE. IN NORMAL PARK MODE, THE OPERATOR MAY PLACE THE GEAR SHIFT LEVER IN PARK AND THE LEVER WILL LOCK. IN ORDER TO TAKE THE VEHICLE OUT OF PARK, THE IGNITION KEY NEEDS TO BE IN EITHER THE ACCESSORY OR RUN POSITION AND THE BRAKE PEDAL MUST BE DEPRESSED. A DRIVER MAY THEN MOVE THE UNLOCKED GEAR SHIFT LEVER OUT OF PARK. THE VEHICLE CANNOT BE TAKEN OUT OF PARK WITHOUT FIRST INTENTIONALLY DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL. IT WAS POSSIBLE TO BYPASS THIS PROCESS IN THIS VEHICLE. THE GEAR SHIFT LEVER COULD BE PLACED IN AN INTERMEDIATE POSITION BETWEEN PARK AND REVERSE WHERE THE WHEELS WERE LOCKED, BUT THE LEVER WAS NOT LOCKED. *TR
DRIVER SEATBELT WILL NOT BUCKLE PROPERLY. IT TAKES ABOUT 4 ATTEMPTS TO SECURE THE SEATBELT. *TR
REAR AXEL BROKE WHILE MAKING A RIGHT TURN CAUSING THE REAR WHEEL TO BECOME DETACHED. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM FOR 2005 CHEVY UPLANDERS HOWEVER WHEN CALLED, WAS TOLD THAT THE RECALL ONLY AFFECTED VEHICLES THAT WERE REMODELED INTO HANDICAPPED ACCESSIBLE VANS. *TR
WHEN THE REAR DOOR WAS BEING OPENED USING THE SWITCH LOCATED ON THE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE, THE DOOR FELL OFF OF THE TRACK AND WOULD NOT MOVE. I HAD TO PHYSICALLY LIFT THE DOOR AND CLOSE AND LOCK IT SO THAT IT WOULDN'T AUTOMATICALLY OPEN. *TR
PULLED DOWN ON REAR DOOR STRAP, AND ONE ATTACH BRACKET BROKE WITH RIVET STILL ATTACHED TO STRAP. THE DOWNWARD MOTION BROUGHT MY HAND ACROSS THE RIVET, RESULTING IN A HAND CUT. ONE END OF THE ATTACH RIVET IS SMOOTH AND THE OTHER END IS KNIFE SHARP. THE REPLACEMENT STRAP PURCHASED FROM GM DEALERSHIP IS SAME DESIGN. IF BOTH ENDS OF THE RIVET WERE SMOOTH, NO INJURY WOULD HAVE HAPPENED. *TR
WHILE DRIVING THE EXTERIOR AND INTERIOR LIGHTS WILL DIM AND/OR FLICKER. VOLTAGE DOES NOT STAY CONSISTENT. WHEN STOPPING THE RADIO WILL BLINK OFF, AND THE CD CHANGER WILL MAKE EJECTING NOISES LIKE A TAPE PLAYER. IF ANY ACCESSORIES "ARE" ACTUALLY PLUGGED IN YOU WILL GET STATIC AND ELECTRICAL WHINING FROM THE SPEAKERS. VEHICLE WILL GIVE HARD START ISSUES AFTER EXPERIENCING THE LIGHT DIM AND FLICKER ISSUE. I HAVE ALREADY HAD ALL THE PLUGS AND WIRES REPLACED AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR THESE ISSUES. *TR

WITHOUT WARNING, THE WHEEL JERKED OUT OF THE DRIVER'S HAND AND THE VEHICLE STRUCK A PARKED VEHICLE AND CAME TO A STOP. NO ONE WAS INJURED. A FORENSIC ENGINEERING INVESTIGATION REVEALED THAT THE FAILURE OF THE RIGHT STEERING KNUCKLE WAS THE SOLE CAUSE OF THIS INCIDENT. THE PART NUMBER ON THE FRONT OF THE BOTTOM PORTION OF THE STEERING KNUCKLE IS "INTERMEDIATE 0472 98 U/W R". THE CASTING NUMBER ON THE REAR OF THE BOTTOM PORTION OF THE STEERING KNUCKLE IS "0800 561 220". NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 09E005000 REFERS TO FAILURE OF STEERING KNUCKLES MANUFACTURED BY DORMAN PRODUCTS, INC. THIS RECALL STATES THAT, "A POTENTIAL MATERIAL OR DESIGN DEFECT COULD RESULT IN THE STEERING KNUCKLE BREAKING IN THE HUB AREA." THE HUB AREA IS ALSO THE AREA WHERE THE INTERMEDIATE STEERING KNUCKLE FRACTURED IN THIS INCIDENT. *TR

THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD FOR FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN OR FOR THAT MATTER IT IS A SAFETY HAZZARD FOR ANYONE SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. THIS IS JUST ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF THE GM WORKMANSHIP. IN ADDITION, THE DOOR AJAR ALARM WOULD SOUND ERRONEOUSLY WHEN THE DOORS WERE CLOSED. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT TO SANDPAPER THE SCRATCH CENSOR SINCE THERE WAS NO RECALLS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE HOWEVER, DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. NO REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 117,000 AND THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
THE PASSENGER SIDE POWER SLIDING DOOR DOES NOT CLOSE PROPERLY AND OPENS ON ITS OWN INTERMITTENTLY. ALSO, ONCE THE DOOR IS CLOSED THE "OPEN DOOR CHIME" DOES NOT STOP. THE CHIME CONTINUES TO GO OFF WHILE DRIVING, PARKED AND WHEN THE CAR IS TURNED OFF WITH THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A SAFETY ISSUE. I TRIED CONTACTING THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED AND EXPLAINED TO THEM THE SAFETY HAZARD DEFECT BUT WAS TOLD THAT THEY WILL NOT FIX THE PROBLEM UNLESS I PAID FOR IT. AFTER DOING FURTHER RESEARCH, I HAVE FOUND THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM FOR ALL GM MINI VANS ESPECIALLY THE UPLANDER MINI VANS, WITH POWER SLIDING DOORS. HOWEVER, SINCE THERE HASN'T BEEN AN OFFICIAL SAFETY RECALL, DEALERSHIPS WILL NOT FIX THE PROBLEM WITHOUT PAYMENT. AGAIN THIS IS A SAFETY PROBLEM AND A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED. *TT

ABS LIGHT CAME BACK ON BEFORE LEFT THE PARKING LOT, BUT MECHANIC SAID IT WAS OKAY AND HE WOULDN'T WORRY ABOUT IT. LEFT ON VACATION THE NEXT DAY. NEWLY REPLACED BRAKES MADE HORRIBLE GRINDING NOISES ALL THROUGHOUT TRIP. ALSO BEGAN GETTING INTERMITTENT BRAKE WARNING LIGHT, AND "SERVICE BRAKE SYSTEM" AND "SERVICE ABS SYSTEM" WARNINGS. CRAWLED UNDER VEHICLE AND FOUND WIRES TO THE NEW WHEEL HUB WERE BROKEN AT WHEEL HUB. WIRES WERE FOR THE WHEEL ROTATION SENSOR, AS IT WAS IMPROPERLY INSTALLED. REPLACED WHEEL HUB AGAIN AT OUR EXPENSE, BECAUSE CHEVROLET CERTIFIED MECHANIC SAID FIRST HUB WASN'T INSTALLED IMPROPERLY, BUT ALSO SAID THE ONLY WAY THE WIRES COULD HAVE BECOME TORN WOULD BE IF IT HAD BEEN INSTALLED IMPROPERLY. ABS LIGHT AND BRAKE LIGHT WERE OUT FOR ABOUT ONE (1) WEEK. SECOND REPLACEMENT HUB AND WIRING ARE STILL INTACT, BUT STILL HAVE CONTINUOUS ABS LIGHT AND INTERMITTENT BRAKE LIGHT AS WELL AS PREVIOUSLY MENTIONED WARNINGS. DIFFERENT CHEVROLET CERTIFIED MECHANIC SAYS THERE IS NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT, ONLY PROBLEM IS THAT ABS SYSTEM WILL NOT FUNCTION, BUT BRAKES WILL STILL WORK AS IF NO ABS SYSTEM WERE ON THE VEHICLE. ALSO HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE CONTINUOUS ABS LIGHT ON A DIFFERENT CHEVROLET VEHICLE. IF CHEVY CAN'T MAKE THE ABS SYSTEM WORK AFTER THE BRAKES ARE WORKED ON, WHY CONTINUE WITH THE EXTRA EXPENSE OF PUTTING THEM ON? I NOW HAVE TWO(2) CHEVROLET ABS SYSTEMS THAT THEIR CERTIFIED MECHANICS SAY ARE IN TIP TOP CONDITION, ONLY PROBLEM IS NEITHER SYSTEM WORKS. THE DEALER ALSO INDICATED THAT THIS HAD BEEN A RECURRING PROBLEM ON THIS MODEL BUT NOT ENOUGH CONSUMERS WERE AFFECTED TO GENERATE A RECALL SO WE WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS REPAIR OURSELVES AS WELL. AT TIMES THE DOOR WILL STAY CLOSED, BUT THE 'DINGING' NOISE WILL CONTINUE FOR THE ENTIRE TIME I AM DRIVING. THERE HAVE BEEN OCCASIONS WHEN IT CONTINUED DINGING WELL AFTER THE IGNITION WAS TURNED OFF. WE HAVE HAD IT IN THE SHOP AND 'FIXED' A FEW TIMES. THE FIX SOMETIMES LASTED A WEEK OR TWO. SOMETIMES, IT ONLY LASTED A COUPLE OF DAYS. WE WERE NEVER ABLE TO PINPOINT OR PREDICT WHEN THE MALFUNCTION WOULD OCCUR. FINALLY, WE HAVE REMOVED THE FUSE PERMANENTLY AND ONLY OPERATE THE DOORS MANUALLY TO PREVENT A SERIOUS INJURY FROM OCCURRING TO THE CHILDREN. IN THE REAR (3RD) SEAT, THE RIGHT SEAT BELT HAS ALSO RETRACTED & WILL NOT RELEASE. THIS HAPPENED ONE DAY WHEN I WAS TRYING TO REMOVE A CHILD FROM THE VEHICLE. HE WAS IN A BOOSTER SEAT AND STRAPPED IN BY THE SEAT BELT. WHEN I UNLATCHED THE BELT, IT RETRACTED SLIGHTLY, BUT WOULD NOT PULL BACK OUT. NOW IT IS TOO TIGHT TO PLACE A CAR SEAT, BOOSTER, OR HAVE SOMEONE SIT THERE. I HAVE NOT MADE THE TRIP TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT FOR THIS SITUATION. THE DOOR DID THE SAME THING OF CLOSING THEN OPENING RIGHT BACK UP. THE DEALER THEN DROVE IT AROUND TO THE BACK OF THE SHOP , ONLY TO LATER HAVE THE MECHANICS SAY THAT THEY COULD NOT GET THE DOOR TO MALFUNCTION. SO THEY CALLED US TO PICK UP THE VEHICLE. I WENT AND PICKED IT UP AND ON MY WAY HOME FROM THE DEALER THE DOOR WAS TRYING TO OPEN WELL I WAS DRIVING . IT DID IT QUIET A FEW TIMES. SO I TOOK THE VEHICLE ALL THE WAY BACK TO VANCOUVER TO THE DEALER WE BOUGHT IT. I DID NOT WANT TO HAVE TO DRIVE THIS VAN WITH OUR CHILDREN SETTING RIGHT BESIDE THE DOOR AND SOMETHING HAPPEN. I TOLD THEM THIS AND THEY SAID THAT THE ONLY THING THEY WOULD DO IS TAKE THE VEHICLE AS A TRADE IN. THEY WERE NOT WILLING TO LOOK AT THE VEHICLE AT ALL AND WE HAD JUST BOUGHT IT FROM THEM FIVE MONTHS BEFORE THAT. THE FUEL GAGUE REGISTERED ABOUT 1/4 FULL. I PUT 19 GALLONS OF FUEL IN THE TANK. WHEN I CRANKED THE VEHICLE, THE MESSAGE WAS LOW FUEL AND THE RED LIGHT CAME ON WHILE THE GAGE INDICATED EMPTY. THE PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR DOES NOT CLOSE PROPERLY. THE PROBLEM BEGAN SOON AFTER WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN JAN 2006 BUT WAS NOT SERIOUS. AFTER PAYING FOR A NEW MOTOR, NOT A WEEK LATER DID THE MOTOR BREAK AGAIN. AFTER THIS SECOND MOTOR, THE DOOR CONTINUED TO NOT SHUT PROPERLY, OFTEN TAKING 10 -15 ATTEMPTS TO SHUT THE DOOR. YOU WOULD PUSH THE BUTTON AND THE DOOR WOULD SEEM LIKE IT WAS CLOSING BUT NOT CLOSE FULLY AND REOPEN ON ITS OWN. ANOTHER TRIP TO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY ADJUSTED THE SENSOR, BUT THE PROBLEM CONTINUED. WE JUST PURCHASED A NEW SENSOR AND DOOR LATCH TO TRY TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. THUS FAR THE DOOR CONTINUES TO BE A SAFETY RISK AS IT OPENS WHEN YOU SHUT IT AND DOES NOT CLOSE PROPERLY. THE DOOR ALSO TRIES TO SHUT WITH PEOPLE IN THE WAY. MY DAUGHTER WENT BACK TO THE VAN TO GET A TOY AND GOT HER TOY WHILE I WAS BLOCKING THE DOOR. THE DOOR PUSHED HARD AGAINST ME TRYING TO CLOSE, IT ALMOST SHUT ME IN THE DOOR. THE DOOR WOULD NOT REOPEN LIKE IT IS SUPPOSED TO WITH SOMETHING BEING IN THE WAY. THE INSIDE STICKER STATES 35 PSI AND MAX LOAD OF 1330 LBS. THE TIRE SIZE IS EXTREMELY HARD TO FIND. I HAVE ALSO NOTICED WHEN WE CLOSE THE SLIDING DOORS THEY DO NOT SHUT, THE LATCH DOESNT CATCH THE DOOR UNTIL YOU SLAM EXTREMELY HARD. THE DEALERSHIP HAS TOLD ME THAT THEY CANNOT GUARANTEE THAT THEY CAN FIX THIS PERMANENTLY. MY VAN WAS JUST IN THE SHOP AGAIN LAST WEEK AND IT IS ALREADY MESSED UP AGAIN. REAR ELECTRONIC SLIDING DOOR, PRIMARILY THE LEFT SIDE, OCCASIONALLY GOES ALMOST CLOSED THEN JUST BEFORE IT LATCHES IT GOES BACK OPEN. USUALLY HAPPENS ONCE OR TWICE PER WEEK. I CANNOT DEPEND ON IT GOING SHUT SO I HAVE TO STAND THERE AND WATCH IT UNTIL IT SHUTS COMPLETELY AND LATCHES. BEFORE I REALIZED THE EXTENT OF THE PROBLEM I CAME BACK TO THE VEHICLE TWICE TO FIND THE DOOR WIDE OPEN WITH SEVERAL HUNDRED DOLLARS WORTH OF PHOTO EQUIPMENT ON THE SEAT AND FLOORBOARD. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES BUT IT NEVER MALFUNCTIONED IN THE SHOP SO THEY WOULD NOT DO REPAIRS ON THE DOORS. I CONTACTED CHEVROLET DIVISION OF GENERAL MOTORS. THE CHEVROLET REPRESENTATIVE CONFIRMED THAT THEY "HAVE TO RECREATE THE PROBLEM IN THE SHOP" BEFORE THEY WILL WORK ON IT. CHEVROLET GAVE ME A PROBLEM NUMBER FOR FUTURE REFERENCE AND SAID IF IT EVER MALFUNCTIONS IN THE SHOP THEY WILL WORK ON IT. I GOT THE VAN BECAUSE OF MY GRANDDAUGHTERS, HOWEVER, I CANNOT ALLOW THEM TO OPEN AND CLOSE THE DOOR ALONE BECAUSE THEY FORGET TO WATCH IT CLOSE ALL THE WAY AND LATCH. I CAN SEE FROM THE INTERNET THAT THIS IS A FREQUENT PROBLEM WITH THE UPLANDER, MOST OF THE TIME REMAINING UNRESOLVED. UPON TOWING IT TO A LOCAL AUTO REPAIR SHOP WE WERE INFORMED THE TIMING BELT BROKE WHICH WARPED THE CAM SHAFT. GM WOULD DO NOTHING UNTIL WE TOWED IT AGAIN, THIS TIME TO A GM DEALERSHIP. OTHER TIMES THE DOOR WILL NOT OPEN, MAY OPEN BUT WILL NOT SHUT AT ALL. THE MOST COMMON PROBLEM INVOLVES THE SLIDING DOORS STARTING TO CLOSE THEN STOPPING AND OPENING BACK. OFTEN SEVERAL TRIES ARE NEEDED TO GET THE DOOR CLOSED. ON OTHER OCCASIONS THE "BEEPING" ALARM ASSOCIATED WITH THE DOORS WILL GO OFF AND NOT STOP FOR MORE THAN 10 MINUTES - EVEN AFTER THE CAR HAS BEEN TURNED OFF. THE VAN HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP ABOUT 9 OR 10 TIMES OVER THE PAST YEAR. EACH TIME A DIFFERENT REMEDY IS OFFERED (REPLACING DOOR LATCHES, WEATHER STRIPPING, ETC) TO NO AVAIL. WE HAVE HAD SEVERAL ISSUES WITH THE DOORS NOT CLOSING AND HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE IN SEVERAL TIMES. THE SERVICE DEPT. COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. APPARENTLY GM KNOWS ABOUT THE PROBLEM BECAUSE THE LAST TIME WE WERE IN THERE THEY TOLD US THERE WAS AN INTERNAL SERVICE BULLETIN ABOUT RE-ROUTING WIRES AND POSSIBLE MODULE REPLACEMENT, ALL OF WHICH WAS DONE TO OUR VEHICLE. IT IS GOING BACK IN AGAIN 7-27-07 FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. OUR UPLANDER ALSO HAS A PROBLEM OF THE DOOR LOCKS RAPIDLY LOCKING AND UNLOCKING AT VARIOUS TIMES WHILE DRIVING, AND ALL OF THE LIGHTS WILL FLICKER AND DIM. ONE INSTANCE WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT ALL LIGHTS WENT OUT BRIEFLY AND CAME BACK ON, EXTREMELY DANGEROUS! SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. THE DEALER SENT THE VEHICLE TO A BODY SHOP AND THEY ALIGNED THE DOOR. APPROXIMATELY THREE MONTHS LATER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE DEALER ALIGNED THE DOOR, HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM RECURRED APPROXIMATELY TWO MONTHS LATER. THE CONTACT OPENED THE DOOR AND A BLACK CABLE POPPED FROM THE INSIDE OF THE DOOR TRACK, MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO CLOSE THE DOOR. THE DEALER REPLACED THE PULLEY CABLE AND THE DOOR MOTOR. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 35,981 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,000.
I OWN A CHEVROLET, UPLANDER THAT HAS BEEN GIVING ME A PROBLEM WITH THE REAR END. IT DID NOT START UNTIL I HAD 17,000 MILES ON IT. THE CAR VIBRATED IN THE REAR AXLE. I TRIED TO GET IT FIXED AT THE DEALER. THEY KEPT SAYING IT WAS DIFFERENT THINGS, BUT I STILL HAVE THE PROBLEM. HAVE HAD IT TO THE DEALER 15 TIMES, AND THE PROBLEM WAS GETTING WORSE. THE RIGHT WINDOW REMAINS OPEN WHEN ATTEMPTING TO CLOSE IT WITH THE OVERHEAD BUTTON. THE DEALER HAS REPAIRED THE VEHICLE, BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTS. WHEN MAKING A LEFT TURN, THE CONTACT HEARS A NOISE COMING FROM THE SUSPENSION. THE ENGINE SIZE WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 18,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12. ON MARCH 17, 2007 AT APPROXIMATELY 6:00 PM MY HUSBAND, MYSELF AND 4 CHILDREN ARRIVED HOME. WE OWN A 2005 CHEVROLET UPLANDER. MY OLDEST DAUGHTER 7 WAS SITTING ALL THE WAY TO THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE WHEN SHE UNBUCKLED THE SEAT BELT AND SHE STARTED YELLING THAT SHE COULDN'T GET OUT! MY HUSBAND WENT TO THE BACK TO SEE WHAT WAS WRONG ,AND SHE WAS COMPLETELY ENTANGLED IN THE SEAT BELT. SHE WAS CRYING HYSTERICALLY, AND WAS SCARED TO DEATH! SOMEHOW WHEN SHE UNBUCKLED THE SEAT IT RETRACTED SO FAST THAT IT WAS TWISTED AND ENTANGLED AROUND HER WAIST. IT LOCKED AND KEPT GETTING TIGHTER AND TIGHTER!, IT WAS SO TIGHT THAT I COULDN'T GET MY FINGERS BETWEEN THE BELT AND HER WAIST. MY HUSBAND TRIED UNLOCKING THE SEAT BELT BUT IT JUST KEPT GETTING TIGHTER. WE HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO CUT IT OFF ON HER. IT WAS SO TIGHT THAT IT LEFT BRUISES AND MARKS COMPLETELY AROUND HER WAIST. CURRENTLY, SHE AND MY 3 YEAR OLD SON ARE SCARED TO DEATH TO GET INTO THE CAR. I CONTACTED GM AND THE DEALER RIGHT AWAY. GM SENT AN INSPECTOR TO TAKE PICTURES. GM CLAIMED THAT THEY FOUND NO DEFECT WITH THE BELT, AND IT WAS OUR RESPONSIBILITY TO FIX IT. THEY SAID THAT IT WAS OUR CHOICE TO CUT THE SEAT BELT. I EXPLAINED TO THEM THAT WE HAD NO CHOICE, AND IF IT SOMEHOW GOT WRAPPED AROUND HER NECK THAT IT WOULD HAVE KILLED HER. GM INSPECTOR INSISTED THAT MY DAUGHTER MUST HAVE BEEN PLAYING WITH THE SEAT BELT. SHE WAS NOT! I TOLD HER THAT I DO HAVE THE PICTURES OF THE INJURIES THAT IT DID ,AND I WOULD TAKE FURTHER ACTION! THE LEAST THEY COULD DO WAS TO FIX THE SEAT BELT. SHE REFUSED, AND WAS VERY RUDE! I ASKED TO SPEAK TO A SUPERVISOR ,WHO TOLD ME THE SAME THING. I TOLD HER THAT I DIDN'T CARE IF IT WASN'T DEFECTIVE, BUT I DID CARE THAT IT WAS UNSAFE. WHEN LEAVING WORK WHILE IT WAS SNOWING, WINDSHIELD WIPERS WERE OPERATING. DURING THE TRIP HOME, THE WIPERS BECAME JAMMED BECAUSE OF BUILD UP OF SNOW UNDER PART OF THE HOOD THAT HIDES WIPERS WHEN THEY ARE NOT IN USE. THE WIPERS TRIED TO MOVE BUT COULD ONLY SHUDDER IN PLACE. I HAD TO DRIVE HOME IN THE SNOWFALL WITHOUT WIPERS. UPON REACHING HOME AND OPENING THE HOOD I HAD TO REMOVE SNOW THAT WAS PACKED AROUND WIPER ARMS. THE WIPERS THEN STARTED TO OPERATE AGAIN. I WILL BE BRINGING VEHICLE BACK TO DEALER SINCE THIS OCCURED AT NITE. OBVIOUS THE DESIGN IS POOR AND DANGEROUS. THSI VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 19,000 MILES TO DATE.
IN PURCHASING THE UPLANDER THE SALESMAN DEMONSTRATED THE SAFETY FEATURE OF THE BLOCKING OF SLIDING SIDE DOORS BY STICKING HIS ARM IN THE PATH OF THE DOOR (WELL BEFORE IT SHUT) AND THE DOOR STOPPING AND RETRACTING. IN DEMONSTRATING THIS FEATURE TO MY GRANDCHILDREN I PLACED MY HAND IN THE WAY OF THE DRIVER SIDE SLIDING REAR DOOR AND ALLOWED IT TO CLOSE ON MY HAND, THE DOOR DID NOT RETRACT AND TRAPPED ME THERE WITH MY HAND IN THE DOOR. IT WAS PAINFUL TO SAY THE LEAST AND MY GRANDCHILDREN WERE THE ONLY ONES THAT COULD PUSH THE BUTTON TO OPEN THE DOOR. I REPORTED THE MISHAP TO THE SALESMAN AT THE CHEVY DEALERS BUT NOTHING WAS EVER DONE. THE PROBLEM AS I SEE IT IS THAT ANY SMALL CHILD TRYING TO KEEP THE DOOR FROM CLOSING WOULD REACH FOR THE DOOR AND IN DOING SO WOULD PLACE HIS HAND IN THE DOOR IN THE SAME POSITION I WAS IN WHEN I DEMONSTRATED THIS "SAFETY FEATURE" TO MY GRAND CHILDREN. THIS FEATURE APPARENTLY WORKS ONLY WHEN THE DOOR IS SLIDING FORWARD AND NOT WHEN IT IS CLOSING. *JB

WHEN THE DOOR MALFUNCTIONED THE WARNING INDICATOR WAS A BELL ALERTING HER THE DOOR OPENED, THERE WERE NO OTHER WARNING INDICATORS. THE FRONT TWO TIRES WERE REPLACED AT 14,000 MILES DUE TO EXCESSIVE WEAR. THE BACK TWO TIRES WERE REPLACED AT 24,000 DUE TO EXCESSIVE WEAR. THE CONTACT STATED AT 37,000 MILES, THE VEHICLE NEEDED FOUR NEW TIRES DUE TO WEAR. THE DEALER SAID THE CAUSE WAS DUE TO THE TIRES NOT HAVING BEEN ALIGNED WHEN THE TIRES WERE REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKES HAVE HAD TO BE RESURFACED TWICE. SHE HEARD A KNOCKING NOISE IN THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO DEALER FOUR TIMES. THE DEALER REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION, AND THE NEW ONE FROM THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALSO LEAKING. THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE REPAIR SHOP FOR 16 DAYS, AND THE NEW TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE RESEALED. WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE THE IGNITION WAS STICKING IN THE START MODE FOR 2 MINUTES AFTER RELEASING THE KEY. THE PASSENGER AUTOMATIC SLIDING DOOR DID NOT LATCH SHUT, NO WARNING INDICATOR LIGHT APPEARED NOR DID IT REGISTER WITH ONSTAR AS THE DOOR WAS BEING UN LATCHED. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO OPEN THE DOOR IT WILL NOT OPEN BECAUSE THE LATCH DID NOT ENGAGE. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY RISK INVOLVED. THE CONTACT FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE BBB, AND SPOKEN TO GM ABOUT ALL OF THE FAILURES. THE GEAR SHIFTWS VERY DIFFICULT TO MOVE FROM PARK TO REVERSE. ALL OF THE ABOVE LISTED FAILURES OCCURRED FREQUENTLY. THE MOST RECENT WAS THE DOOR AND THE STARTER. THE STARTER FAILURE OCCURRED 15 TO 20 TIMES. THE GEAR SHIFT FAILED EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN. THE DOOR FAILED 20 TIMES. I HAVE HAD THE CHEVROLET UPLANDER IN FOR REPAIR ON A REAR PASSENGER DOOR THAT KEEPS MALFUNCTIONING. THEY HAVE REPAIRED IT ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS BUT IT IS KNOW OUT OF MANUFACTURING WARRANTY. THE DOOR HAS BEEN REPAIRED TO THE BEST OF GMAC ABILITY THEY CAN NOT FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM BUT THE DOOR NOW WILL FALL SHUT WHEN ON A DOWNHILL INCLINE REGARDLESS IF ANYONE IS IN THE DOOR. THEY ARE SUPPOSE TO BE CHILD SAFETY TO KEEP THE DOOR FROM CLOSING ON A CHILD BUT THE DOOR WILL NOT STAY OPEN WHEN PARKED A DOWNHILL GRADE. WE PURCHASED A 2005 CHEVY UPLANDER WHEN IT WAS 1 YR OLD WITH 10,000 MILES ON IT DIRECTLY FROM A CHEVY DEALER. ONE MONTH LATER, THE REAR PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR STARTED AUTOMATICALLY REOPENING IT AFTER BOTH THE SHUT BUTTONS BY THE DRIVER SEAT AND THE BUTTON ON THE DOOR ITSELF WERE PUSHED TO CLOSE. THIS VAN HAS NOW BEEN BACK TO THE CHEVY DEALER 6 TIMES FOR THIS PROBLEM WITHIN THE 7 MONTHS WE OWN IT. THE DEALER HAS MADE IT PRETTY CLEAR TO US THAT THEY CAN NOT FIND OR FIX THE PROBLEM. ADDITIONALLY, THE DASH INSTRUMENT CLUSTER PANEL LIGHTS AND HEADLIGHTS FLICKERED ON AND OFF WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS AT AN IDLE. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY THE DEALER, WHO DETERMINED THE SENSOR FOR THE EXTERIOR LIGHTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. AFTER REPLACEMENT OF THE TIRES AND LIGHTING SENSORS, THE PROBLEMS PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALERTED.

I OWN A 2005 CHEVY UPLANDER MINIVAN AND EXPERIENCED SEVERAL INSTANCES OF THE OUTSIDE REAR DOOR LATCH PINCHING THE INSIDE OF YOUR FINGER WHEN YOU SQUEEZE THE LATCH TO OPEN THE REAR HATCH. SO FAR IT HAPPENED TO MYSELF, MY SON, MY NEIGHBOR, AND MY GRANDSON. IT HAS CAUSED ANYWHERE FROM SMALL SKIN LACERATIONS TO BLOOD BLISTERS. ONCE YOU ENGAGE THE LATCH TO OPEN THE HATCH AND START TO SQUEEZE IT YOU HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO CYCLE THE LATCH AS IT PINCHES YOUR FINGER SKIN UNTIL THE LATCH OPENS AND SETS YOU FREE. *NM

I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE IN JANUARY OF 2005 AND IN THE FIRST 2 MONTHS HAD WINDSHIELD CHIPS FROM NORMAL DRIVING. I HAVE OWNED MANY CHEVROLETS OVER THE YEARS AND NOT ONE CHIP. I WAS MAD, THE SERVICE WRITER HAD THE NERVE TO TELL ME THAT THE REASON THE DISKS WERE WARPED WAS "WHILE YOU WERE ON THE HIGHWAY YOUR BRAKES GOT SO HOT THAT WHEN YOU PULLED OFF ON A RAMP YOU HIT THE BRAKES AND THAT'S WHAT WARPED YOUR DISKS" I CALLED GM AN REGISTERED MY COMPLAINT. ALSO WHEN I TALKED TO THE SERVICE MANAGER HE TOLD ME THAT THEY HAVE A LOT OF WARPED BAKES ON UPLANDERS, IF THE UPLAND JUST SITS FOR A MONTH ON THE LOT THE BRAKES WARP. NOW I HAVE 17,700 MILES ON MY VAN AND THE BRAKES ARE WARPED AGAIN, BUT NOW THEY HAVE TO CHANGE THE ROTORS AND WANT ME TO PAY FOR THEM. AFTER DRIVING THE VEHICLE FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME, THE HEAD LIGHTS AND INTERIOR LIGHTS BEGAN FLICKERING AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP HOWEVER THERE WERE NO REPAIRS MADE. THE MECHANIC FOUND THE FOLLOWING PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE AND NOTED THEM ON A SERVICE INVOICE "RUB MARKS ON THE LEFT DRIVE AXLE, THE REAR MOTOR MOUNT IS NOT HOLDING THE ENGINE SOLID AND THE ENGINE IS MOVING EXCESSIVELY ON THE CRADLE." THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC SUSPECTS THE CASTER OR CAMBER MAY BE OUT CAUSING OUTER TIRE WEAR ON BOTH THE PASSENGER AND DRIVER SIDE TIRES. THE INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP ONLY INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND THEY NEVER MADE ANY REPAIRS, AS THE VEHICLE WAS UNDER WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO THE SERVICE DEALER WHO NEVER DIAGNOSED A SPECIFIC PROBLEM. HOWEVER, THE DEALER REPLACED THE TIRES, STRUTS, HUBS AND SOME UNDERCARRIAGE PARTS. THE CONTACT FINALLY RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE MANUFACTURER OFFERING TO PROVIDE THE CONTACT WITH A REPLACEMENT VEHICLE. NADER, RICHMOND KY) DID NOT DISPUTE THE HOT TEMPERATURES IN THE CAR, THE AC IS DESIGNED TO NEVER BLOW OUT COLDER AIR THAN 43 - 48 DEGREES AFTER RUNNING FOR ABOUT 30 MIN AND STANDING STILL 50+ DEGREES TEMPERATURE, YES, THE BACK IS HOTTER, AS THE PIPES FOR THE REAR AC GO THROUGH THE ROOF AND THE ROOF IN THE SUMMER WILL GET 110 TO 130 DEGREES EASILY. BUT THERE IS NO FIX FOR IT. DT: 2005 CHEVROLET UPLANDER. WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE STALLED ON THE HIGHWAY WITH CHILDREN INSIDE. THERE WAS A FUEL LINE PROBLEM. THIS OCCURRED MORE THAN ONCE. MY WIFE HAD DRIVEN FROM OUR HOME 7 MILES AWAY TO THE MAGGIE MOO'S ICE CREAM SHOP. SHE WENT IN TO THE STORE TO PURCHASE SOME ICE CREAM FOR MY KIDS AND HER MOM WHO STAYED IN THE VEHICLE WHICH WAS LEFT RUNNING BECAUSE OF THE HEAT. ON WAY TO DEALER THE BRAKES FAILED TO ENGANGE JUST YARDS FROM DEALER AND WIFE WENT THROUGH STOP SIGN. SERVICE ADVISOR TRIED 4 TIMES TO STOP VAN DRIVING IT TO THE STALL. DEALER FOUND TIRE GOING FLAT WHILE IN STALL. DEALER FOUND 17 CODES STORED SHOWING LOW VOLTAGE. WITH GM TECH ASSIST DEALER CLAIMS TO HAVE FOUND YET ANOTHER BAD CONNECTION. GAVE VAN BACK AFTER ONLY 4 HOURS. JUNE 12 LIGHTS BACK ON. JUNE 13 TOOK IT TO SELLING DEALER (45 MILES AWAY). DEALER STILL HAS VAN (2 WEEKS LATER-JUNE 27) CLAIMS ENGINEER CAME DOWN, COULD NOT FIND PROBLEM BUT SUGGESTED REPLACING BCM (17 CODES AGAIN). THEY ARE REPLACING THE COMPUTER HOPING IT IS THE CAUSE. WE DONT WANT THE VAN BACK AND ASKING FOR A REPLACEMENT UNDER THE LEMON LAW AND THE FACT THAT IT FAILS TO STOP IF A TIRE IS LOW ON AIR. REPLACED RADIO AND MOULDINGS. WE WERE TAKING VACATION LAST DECEMBER GOING THRU THE MOUNTAINS AND IT WAS VERY FOGGY. YOU COULD BARELY SEE THE ROAD AND WE NOTICED THE HEADLIGHTS AND INTERIOR LIGHTS WERE FLICKERING. THE FOLLOWING WEEK I TOOK IT TO MY DEALERSHIP TO LET THEM FIX THE PROBLEM THEY DID LET ME KNOW THAT THEY WERE AWARE OF A PROBLEM. THEY SHOWED ME A PAPER STATING THAT GMAC WAS TRYING TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THIS WAS LAST DECEMBER AND IT IS NOW JUNE AND STILL NO SOLUTION. THIS COULD CAUSE A ACCIDENT ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING IN FOGGY WEATHER. PER RECALL NHTSA ID#05V061000 AND GM RECALL#05015, IT STATES THAT THE 2ND ROW SEAT CAN BECOME DETACHED AS A RESULT OF SIDE - IMPACT. THE RECALL BEGAN IN 04/05/2005. ACCORDING TO GM RECORDS, THE VEHICLE [XXX] WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. MY CONVERSATION WITH THE TOW COMPANY LEADS ME TO SUSPECT 2ND ROW SEAT PERFORMANCE IN THE INCIDENT. I PUSHED THE POWER BUTTON AGAIN AND THE MOTOR SOUNDED ABNORMAL. I REMOVED THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION TOOK THE DOOR HANDLE AND TRIED TO MANUALLY CLOSE THE DOOR.
