WHILE DRIVING, THE ENGINE JUST QUITS AND LOSES ALL POWER. I HAVE TO SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL, TURN THE KEY ALL THE WAY TO OFF, AND RESTART THE ENGINE. SOMETIMES IT STARTS RIGHT UP, OTHER TIMES IT TAKES SEVERAL (MANY) TRIES TO GET THE ENGINE TO RESTART. IT CAN GO 200 MILES WITHOUT KILLING, AND THEN KILL 5 TIMES IN 5 MILES. THE ISSUE APPEARS TO BE SIMILAR TO THE RECALL 05S34 (NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 05V270000), BUT THAT'S SPECIFIC TO DIESEL ENGINES, AND MY TRUCK HAS A GASOLINE ENGINE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD EXCURSION. DURING A SINGLE VEHICLE ACCIDENT DUE TO LOSING CONTROL AT, ACCORDING TO THE POLICE REPORT, 65 MPH AND RUNNING FRONT-END FIRST IN TO A ROCKY MOUNTAIN BANK THEN BOUNCING OFF SAID BANK ROTATING THE VEHICLE, AGAIN ACCORDING TO THE ACCIDENT REPORT, ROUGHLY 120-DEGREES THE FACTORY AIRBAG FAILED TO DEPLOY. EVEN WITH THE SEATBELT ON MY CHEST, STERNUM AND RIBS STILL MANAGED TO EITHER BE INJURED BY THE SEATBELT (NO VISIBLE SEATBELT MARKS OR TRAUMA) OR BY IMPACTING THE STEERING WHEEL. BASED ON THE FRONT END DAMAGE, DAMAGE TO THE FRONT SUSPENSION SPRINGS AND THE TRANSFER CASE ALONG WITH THE FRONT AND REAR DRIVESHAFTS COMPLETELY DETACHING THE WRECKER/TOW COMPANY ALSO QUESTIONED WHY THE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. SAID VEHICLE HAS NOW BEEN ACQUIRED BY COPART AT THE REQUEST OF MY INSURANCE COMPANY DUE TO THE VEHICLE BEING TOTALED. PEOPLE REPOT IS AVAILABLE THOUGH THERE IS NO MENTION OF AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT OR NON-DEPLOYMENT.
WHILE DRIVING THE TRUCK THE ACCELERATOR BECOMES NONRESPONSIVE AND SOON AFTER THE TRUCK SHUTS DOWN, COMPLETE POWER LOSS. VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER AND BRAKE. IT WILL START BACK UP MOST OF THE TIME, BUT ON OCCASION IT WILL TAKE 20 TO 30 MINUTES TO RE-START. FORD HAS A RECALL FOR THIS # 05S34. MY VIN INDICATES THAT MY EXCURSION ISN'T UNDER THIS RECALL, BUT THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT IS HAPPENING. THIS EVENT HAPPENS ON CITY STREETS AND HIGHWAYS, WHILE DRIVING OR SITTING AT A STOP SIGN OR STOP LIGHT. THIS EVENT HAS BECOME MORE FREQUENT AS MY WIFE WILL NO LONGER DRIVE IT DO TO THE VEHICLES HANDLING/BREAKING ISSUES WITHOUT POWER SO I ONLY DRIVE IT ON WEEKENDS. IT HAPPENS AT LEAST ONCE A DAY SOMETIMES REPEATEDLY WITHIN SECONDS AFTER RESTARTING AND SOMETIMES NEVER AGAIN DURING THE WEEKEND. IT ALSO IS NOT TIME OR DISTANCE RELATED. IT HAS HAPPENED LEAVING OUR HOUSE AND IT HAS HAPPENED 20 MINUTES INTO A DRIVE. VERY SPORADIC

WHILE TOWING A CAMPER, THE ENGINE OVERHEATED ABOUT 4 HOURS INTO THE TRIP. THE TRUCK AND TRAILER HAD TO BE TOWED HOME. THE TRUCK WAS BROUGHT TO FORD AND IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE HEAD GASKETS BLEW OUT. THE DEALER SAID THIS WAS COMMON WITH THE 6.0 DIESEL ENGINES. HE STATED THAT IT WAS CAUSED BY THE HEAD BOLTS STRETCHING. HE REPAIRED IT, BUT, TOLD ME I WOULD BE BACK AGAIN UNLESS I PURCHASED ARP RACING HEAD BOLTS($600). I RESEARCHED IT ONLINE AND FOUND HE WAS CORRECT. I PROVIDED THE BOLTS AND FORD DID THE REPAIR UNDER WARRANTY. IN 2008, THE EGR COOLER/OIL COOLER RUPTURED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED (UNDER WARRANTY). IN 2009, THE FICM MODULE MALFUNCTIONED. SINCE THE TRUCK WAS NOW OUT OF WARRANTY, FORD WANTED $700 FOR THE PART, PLUS LABOR. IN 2010, THE EGR COOLER/OIL COOLER RUPTURED AGAIN. SINCE THE TRUCK WAS OUT OF WARRANTY, I WAS TOLD IT WOULD BE $4000 TO REPAIR. I RESEARCHED ONLINE AGAIN AND FOUND THE WHOLE EGR DESIGN WAS FLAWED. I PURCHASED AN AFTERMARKET DESIGNED COOLER AND, SINCE THEN, HAVE HAD NO MORE PROBLEMS. *JS

IN DECEMBER AFTER I FILLED UP MY GAS TANK ABOUT 3/4 OF THE WAY. I DROVE HOME, AND WHEN I STEPPED OUT OF MY VEHICLE I STARTED TO SMELL A STRONG GAS ODOR. WHILE MERGING ONTO 75MPH HIGHWAY, WITHOUT WARNING, VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER MAKING STEERING NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE. WE WERE ABLE TO MOVE ONTO SHOULDER JUST AT THE POINT WHERE HIGHWAY AND ON RAMP MET. WE COULD NOT RESTART VEHICLE AND HAD WE MADE IT ONTO HIGHWAY, COULD HAVE VERY EASILY BEEN REAR ENDED BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME WE HAVE LOST COMPLETE POWER WITH THIS VEHICLE. WE HAD SAME SITUATION IN JULY AND HAD PAID OVER TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS TO HAVE FUEL SYSTEM REPAIRED. FORD HAD RECALL ON THIS BUT OUR TRUCK'S VIN DID NOT FALL UNDER RECALL. HOWEVER, HAVE CONCERNS FOR OTHERS WHO HAVE VEHICLES WHOSE VINS ARE NOT PART OF THE RECALL. ANOTHER FAMILY MAY NOT BE AS FORTUNATE AS WE WERE YESTERDAY. FORD IS AWARE OF THESE ISSUES AND I HOPE FORD DOES NOT WAIT UNTIL LIVES ARE LOST DUE TO THEIR FAULTY VEHICLES! *TR
WE HAVE HAD NUMEROUS INCIDENTS WITH OUR EXCURSION DATING BACK TO ONE WEEK AFTER WE PURCHASED IT USED FROM A LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP IN JULY 2009 UNTIL NOW - SEPT. 2012. WE BEGAN EXPERIENCING ACCELERATION ISSUES AFTER THE FIRST WEEK. WE RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR A DIAGNOSTIC EVALUATION. THEY REPLACED THE IPR AND FUEL PUMP. THIS SEEMED TO FIX THE PROBLEM UNTIL JANUARY 2011. IN JANUARY 2011, THE ACCELERATOR BEGAN FAILING AGAIN. IT WOULD JUST STOP WORKING. THE CAR WOULD CRANK INITIALLY AND THEN FAIL TO RECRANK IF TURNED OFF WITHIN A SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME (I.E. DRIVING TO THE STORE). WE WERE TOLD THAT WE NEEDED A NEW FUEL SENSOR. THAT DIDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM. WE THEN HAD THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER REPLACED. THAT DIDN'T FIX IT. YESTERDAY, WHILE DRIVING IN AFTERNOON TRAFFIC WITH MY CHILDREN, EVERYTHING ONCE AGAIN SHUT OFF. I BARELY MANAGED TO MAKE IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I CAN NOT EVEN COUNT THE NUMBER OF TIMES IN THE PAST 3 YEARS THAT I HAVE PULLED OUT INTO AN INTERSECTION ONLY TO HAVE MY ACCELERATOR NOT WORK. IT HAS PROGRESSIVELY GOTTEN MORE EXTREME. TODAY I FOUND OUT ABOUT RECALL THAT TOOK PLACE FOR THE SAME MODEL/YEAR, BUT ACCORDING TO THE FORD PEOPLE, MY VEHICLE DIDN'T QUALIFY. *TR
I PURCHASED A 2005 FORD EXCURSION LIMITED USED IN MAY OF 2011. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED WITH NEW BCT RADIAL A/P LT265/75R16 TIRES. AFTER APPROXIMATELY 2 MONTHS THE VEHICLE WOULD SHAKE AND VIBRATE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. ONE OF THE TIRES WAS FOUND TO BE OUT OF ROUND AND WAS REPLACED WITH A BF GOODRICH TIRE. NOW 13 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE ONE OF THE OTHER BCT TIRES HAS SIDEWALL SEPARATION IN SEVERAL LOCATIONS. I AM NOW REPLACING ALL OF THE BCT TIRES TO PREVENT A SUDDEN AND CATASTROPHIC TIRE FAILURE. *TR

WAS TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 65MPH ON THE FREEWAY MERGING ONTO ANOTHER FREEWAY WHEN THE TRUCK SUDDENLY STALLED. THERE WERE NO BRAKES, NO STEERING, AND THE TRUCK WOULD NOT RESTART. WE HAD FOUR CHILDREN WITH US, THREE OF THEM SMALL AND IN CAR SEATS. WE HAD TO TRANSFER THE CHILDREN INTO A TOW TRUCK WITH MOVING TRAFFIC ON BOTH SIDES OF US. IT WAS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION, THAT COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A MAJOR ACCIDENT CAUSING MAJOR TRAUMA OR DEATH. FICM IS GOOD, WE ARE STILL TRYING TO FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM, BUT COULD POSSIBLY BE THE HIGH PRESSURE OIL PUMP. THIS 6.0L DIESEL ENGINE SHOULD BE RECALLED AND FIXED BY FORD. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN ADDRESSED WITH PICK-UPS AND VANS, BUT NOT THE EXCURSION. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD EXCURSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE OPERATED AS NORMAL UPON RESTART. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO A MALFUNCTION OF ONE OF THE CYLINDERS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 05V270000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:WIRING). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD EXCURSION. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE RECURRED FOUR TIMES INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 05V270000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:WIRING) BUT WAS ADVISED BY THE MANUFACTURER THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
TL- THE CONTACT OWNS 2005 FORD EXCURSION DIESEL. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 5 MPH WHEN THE ENGINE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE RESTARTED AFTER THE FAILURE BUT WHILE IN NEUTRAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE DEALER CONFIRMED THAT THE IGNITION CONTROL PRESSURE SENSOR FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY CONFIRMED TO THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN DID NOT QUALIFY FOR REPAIRS UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 05V270000 ( ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:WIRING). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 80,500. KMJ
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD EXCURSION. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THE ENGINE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT WAITED UNTIL THE ENGINE COMPLETELY COOLED DOWN BEFORE RESUMING OPERATION. THE FAILURE RECURRED WHENEVER THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE THEY DETECTED THAT THE MALFUNCTION WAS CONTRIBUTED TO THE WIRING HARNESS. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 05V270000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: WIRING); HOWEVER THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DEFECT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 94,210.
I AM SO DISAPPOINTED IN PURCHASING THIS FORD TRUCK....I HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE FOR 5 YEARS AND IT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS FOR THE SAME REASON...EGR VALVE GETS STUCK AND I'M STUCK ON SIDE THE HIGHWAY....I CANNOT TRUST THIS VEHICLE TO GET ME TO THE CORNER STORE LET ALONE A LONG DISTANCE TRIP. ALTHOUGH I LOVED MY TRUCK...THE COST OF THESE REPAIRS HAVE JUST BEEN ASTRONOMICAL, NOT TO MENTION THE INCONVENIENCE OF CONSTANT TOWING AND DAYS SPENT IN THE FORD SERVICE DEPARTMENT. I'VE DONE SOME RESEARCH ON THIS PROBLEM AND FOUND THAT FORD COMPANY IS MORE THAN AWARE OF THE PROBLEMS WITH THE 6.0-LITER DIESEL ENGINES AND HAS DONE LITTLE TO NOTHING TO HELP ITS CONSUMERS. MY HUSBAND AND I LOVED FORD TRUCKS, BUT THIS WILL CERTAINLY BE THE LAST TIME I PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY OR ITS BRANDS. IN FACT, IT IS IN THE SHOP AGAIN!!!!! AS I TYPE THIS COMPLAINT. *TR
LEFT TURN SIGNAL INOPERATIVE WHEN TURNED ON NORMALLY, IF SIGNAL LEVER IS HELD PARTIALLY TO THE LEFT BEFORE THE DETENT TO HOLD IT IN THE LEFT SIGNAL POSITION, THE SIGNAL WILL WORK. FOUND A NHTSA CAMPAIGN DESCRIBING THIS ISSUE (11V352000) FOR MY MAKE AND MODEL AND FOUND OUT FORD HAS ISSUED A RECALL (11C18) FOR THE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH, IT BUT I CALLED FORD AND THEY SAID MY VEHICLE IS NOT A PART OF THE RECALL. I SUSPECT THE PROBLEM MAY BE MORE WIDESPREAD. *TT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD EXCURSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE WAS REPETITIVE WITH THE ILLUMINATION OF THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE FUEL INJECTORS, PRESSURE REGULATOR AND VALVE ASSEMBLY MODULATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED BUT DID NOT CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 05V270000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: WIRING) WHICH REQUIRED REPLACING THE FUEL INJECTION CONTROL MODULE AND INJECTION CONTROL PRESSURE SENSOR BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 114,000.
THERE WAS NO WARNING. WE WERE ON THE FREEWAY GOING 75MPH. THE FORD EXCURSION STOPPED RUNNING. THERE WAS NO POWER TO THE BRAKES OR STEERING. I GOT IT TO THE SIDE OF THE SHOULDER OF THE FREEWAY WHERE WE WAITED FOR 2 HOURS FOR HELP. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. EACH TIME WE HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALER. EACH TIME WE HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER THEY GIVE A DIFFERENT REASON FOR THE EVENT. IT WAS REKEYED, PUT NEW BATTERIES, AND THIS TIME THEY SAID IT WAS A CLUTCH FAN. THE CLUTCH FAN COULD HAVE NOT POSSIBLY CAUSED THIS TYPE OF MECHANICAL FAILURE. WE NOTICED THAT THE 2005 FORD EXCURSION WAS ON A RECALL LIST FOR WIRING PROBLEMS. IN FORD'S DESCRIPTION OF THE FAILURE THAT MAY RESULT IT STATES "THE VEHICLE MAY QUIT RUNNING IN TRAFFIC AND MAY OR MAY NOT START AGAIN...RESULTING IN A CRASH". HOWEVER WHEN WE DISCUSSED THIS WITH THE DEALER HE SAID OUR VIN WAS NOT A PART OF THE RECALL. THIS PROBLEM HAS YET TO BE REMEDIED. I AM AFRAID FOR THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD EXCURSION. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 75 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT SHE WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AS IT CONTINUED TO COAST BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESTART. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 05V270000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:WIRING). THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 114,000.
VEHICLE WOULD NOT START OR WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO START IF IT WAS COLD SOAKED FOR MORE THAN 6 HOURS. THE FICM IN MY DIESEL 6.0 IS BAD. FORD CLAIMS MY VEHICLE IS NOT ONE OF THE ONES AFFECTED BY THEIR RECALL ON THIS ITEM. HOWEVER, THE 6.0 ENGINE WAS NOT A GOOD ENGINE IT CAUSED FORD A LOT OF MONEY IN REPAIRS BECAUSE OF THIS SAME PROBLEM. MY ISSUE IS IF FORD KNOWS THE FICM IS BAD IN THESE ENGINES WHY DO THEY NOT REPLACE THEM AND ADD THEM TO THE CURRENT RECALL. I HAVE THE 200,000 EXTENDED WARRANTY AND MY ORIGINAL 100,000 WARRANTY JUST ENDED ABOUT 2000 MILES AGO. UNDER THE 100,000 MILE WARRANTY THE REPLACEMENT WOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED BUT UNDER THE EXTENDED 200,000 WARRANTY IT IS NOT. I FEEL THAT THIS IS JUST A PAPER PUSH TYPE COVER UP. 1. FORD KNOWS THIS ENGINE WAS NOT AS GOOD AS THEIR 7.3 ENGINE B/C THEY IMMEDIATELY STARTED PRODUCING THE 6.4 ENGINE TO REPLACE THE 6.0 2. FORD KNOWS THE FICM IS BAD IN THESES ENGINES AND IT HAS HAD TO REPLACE MANY OF THEM BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM 3. IF THEY ADMITTEDLY KNOW THE ENGINE WAS CRAPPY. AND HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE FICM WHY WILL THEY NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. I WOULD NOT HAVE A PROBLEM WITH PAYING FOR A REPAIR ON ANY VEHICLE IF I KNEW IT WAS FROM WEAR AND TEAR. BUT THIS IS DUE TO FAULTY MANUFATURNING FORD SAYS QUALITY IS JOB 1... THIS IS NOT A QUALITY ENGINE AND I DON'T FEEL THAT I SHOULD BE PENALIZED BECAUSE OF IT. I HAVE ALWAYS DRIVEN FORDS AND THIS IS MY 4TH DIESEL ENGINE. I HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH ANY OF THEM BUT THEY WERE ALL 7.3 DIESELS. HOW CAN I GET MY TRUCK ADDED TO THE RECALL WITH THE FAULTY FICM TO GET IT REPAIRED BY THE DEALERSHIP? *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD EXCURSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE EXHAUST REGULATOR WAS FAILING. THIS FAILURE WOULD CAUSE A HEAVY WHITE SMOKE TO EMIT FROM THE TAIL PIPE AND IF THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME, THE HEAD GASKET WOULD OVERHEAT AND ALLOW WATER AND GASOLINE INTO THE ENGINE. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM ON THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 163,000.
DRIVING ON INTERSTATE AT 70 MPH, VEHICLE HAD A COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER. TRAVELING WITH FAMILY IN THE VEHICLE HAD TO BRING TO A STOP ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITH NO POWER ASSISTANCE. THIS PROBLEM IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE WITH FORD MOTORS AS I HAVE BEEN MADE AWARE. I HAVE ALSO REVIEWED MANY ARTICLES RELATING TO THIS SEVERAL OF WHICH ARE QUITE DISTURBING MAINLY THE FACT THAT THERE HAVE BEEN INSTANCES OF SPARK PLUGS EJECTING AND RUPTURING THE FUEL LINE WHICH SITS DIRECTLY ABOVE THE SPARK PLUG CAUSING A FIRE AND ENGULFING THE VEHICLES IN FLAMES. BEING AS I HAVE A LARGE FAMILY WE HAVE A FORD EXCURSION AND WE HAVE CHILDREN STRAPPED IN CAR SEATS I AM QUITE CONCERNED THAT THIS IS EVEN A REMOTE POSSIBILITY AND I FEEL THAT THIS SHOULD BE A GRAVE CONCERN FOR YOUR ORGANIZATION AS WELL. BOTTOM LINE IS FORD HAS AN ENGINEERING PROBLEM WITH THESE MOTORS AND NEEDS TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE AND CORRECT THEM. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD EXCURSION. OCCASIONALLY, THE VEHICLE SHUTS OFF AND DOES NOT RESTART. IN NOVEMBER OF 2007, WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF AND THE STEERING AND BRAKES FAILED. THE DEALER REPLACED THE HIGH VOLUME OIL PRESSURE PUMP AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN OPERATING NORMALLY. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 05V270000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:WIRING) AND COULD NOT PROVIDE REIMBURSEMENT. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 43,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 41,000.
ELECTRONIC THROTTLE PEDAL DOES NOT OPERATE. NO THROTTLE RESPONSE. MOTOR JUST IDLES STEP ON PEDAL AND NOTHING HAPPENS. *TR
2005 6.0 DIESEL EXCURSION HAS HAD MANY MOTOR ISSUES AND LOTS OF PARTS ALREADY REPLACED BY FORD UP TO THIS DATE. TURBO QUIT WORKING WHILE DRIVING AND HAD TO BE REPLACED IN MAY, 2007. IN JUNE, 2007, VEHICLE HAS MORE TURBO ISSUES AND EGR COOLER ASSEMBLY IS REPLACED. ON JULY 4TH, 2007, VEHICLE STARTS STALLING WHILE DRIVING DOWN FREEWAY AND WIRING HARNESS HAD TO BE REPLACED. ON JULY 16TH, 2007, (3 DAYS HOME FROM SHOP), STALLS AGAIN WHILE DRIVING DOWN FREEWAY. DEALERSHIP CANNOT DETERMINE PROBLEM YET REFUSES TO BUY BACK DEFECTIVE VEHICLE. IT'S BEEN OVER 60 DAYS IN SHOP SINCE BOUGHT BRAND NEW IN 2005. OASIS REPORT IS 6 PAGES LONG ALREADY. *TR
DIESEL ENGINE, VEHICLE WILL ON OCCASION FAIL TO START. ENGINE WILL TURN OVER BUT IT SEEMS NO FUEL GETS TO ENGINE. GAS PEDAL MODULE AND ASSEMBLY HAVE BEEN REPLACED 5 TIMES WITH THE PROBLEM CONTINUING. *TR
DT: THE CONTACT STATED WHEN ATTACHING TRAILER TO THE VEHICLE THE SUSPENSION ON THE VEHICLE DID NOT SUPPORT THE WEIGHT. AFTER THE TRAILER WAS LOADED THE REAR SUSPENSION DROPPED SEVEN INCHES, CAUSING THE FRONT SUSPENSION TO RAISE SEVEN INCHES. THIS SHIFT IN THE SUSPENSION MADE IT VERY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING. THE TRAILER ATTACHMENTS IN USE WERE THE ONES RECOMMENDED BY THE MANUFACTURER. THE TRAILER WAS ALWAYS LOADED WITH WEIGHT THAT WAS LESS THAN THE MAXIMUM ALLOWED. THE MANUFACTURER RECOGNIZED THE PROBLEM, BUT HAS NOT OFFERED A SOLUTION. THE CONTACT WAS TOLD BY THE MANUFACTURER THIS VEHICLE WILL NOT BE PRODUCED AFTER THIS YEAR.*AK
THE TRANSMISSION IN OUR 05' FORD EXCURSION SLIPS AND WHEN IT FINALLY GOES INTO GEAR, IT JERKS REALLY HARD. THE ELECTRICAL UNIT DOES NOT ALWAYS WORK, THE WINDOWS WILL NOT ROLL DOWN, THE LOCKS WILL NOT LOCK NOR UNLOCK, THE RADIO WILL NOT TURN ON. WE HAVE HAD IT ON THE FORD DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR 4 DIFFERENT TIMES AND IT STILL IS NOT REPAIR, WE STILL HAVE ALL THESE PROBLEMS. *NM
DT: THE CONSUMER'S 2005 FORD EXCURSION WOULD NOT STOP. THE BRAKE LINES WERE LEAKING FLUID, AND WAS RUBBING AGAINST THE DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED. THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER SAID THAT IT LOOKED LIKE THE BRAKE LINE WAS PUT ON BACKWARDS. THE CONSUMER STATED THAT NO ONE HAS TOUCHED THE VEHICLE SINCE IT WAS PURCHASED. THIS HAPPENED ON 10-1-03. *SC
DT: PURCHASED THE UNIT IN AUGUST AND THE FRAME WAS BENT. TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND RECEIVED A NEW ONE. THE FRAME ON THIS UNIT IS COCKED AND IS GOING. THIS HAS CAUSED THE CABINETS TO COME LOOSE, AND THE CABINETS ARE CURRENTLY GETTING REPAIRED. CONSUMER CONTACTED SUNRISE AND WAS TOLD THAT THAT IS THE WAY IT IS. THE BEND WASN'T AS BAD WHEN CONSUMER PURCHASED THE VEHICLE, IT'S GOING FROM FRONT TO BACK. *AK
