IN AUGUST OF 2016 RECEIVED A NOTICE FROM MAZDA STATING MAZDA DECIDED THAT A DEFECT WHICH RELATES TO MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY EXISTS IN MAZDA 2005 MPV. THE RECALL NOTICE CONTINUES TO STATE DO NOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE BECAUSE HIGH LEVELS OF HUMIDITY CAN CAUSE THE PASSENGER FRONTAL AIR BAG TO RUPTURE AND COULD RESULT IN METAL FRAGMENTS STRIKING THE DRIVER OR OTHER VEHICLE OCCUPANTS RESULTING IN SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH. ON 10-31-16, I CALLED OAK TREE MAZDA, SAN JOSE TO SCHEDULE THE APPOINTMENT. I PROVIDED THEM WITH MY VIN NUMBER AND WAS TOLD BY THE PARTS DEPARTMENT THEY DID NOT HAVE THE PART IN STOCK AND WOULD NEED TO ORDER IT. THE SAID AS SOON AS THE PART CAME IN THEY WOULD CALL ME TO SCHEDULE THE REPAIR. NEVER RECEIVED A CALL BACK WITHIN 1 MONTH. CALLED AGAIN AND WAS IN ESSENCE TOLD THE SAME INFORMATION TAT THEY WOULD CALL ME BACK WITH INFORMATION. PROVIDED THEM WITH MY CORRECT PHONE NUMBER AND AS OF THIS DATE, 2-9-17 HAVE NOT RECEIVED A CALL BACK TO SCHEDULE MY APPOINTMENT. PLEASE ASSIST ME IN GETTING THIS ISSUE FIXED SO WE CAN DRIVE OUR VEHICLE. I AM NOT SURE IF THIS INVOLVES THE "TAKATA RECALL" AS OUR PAPERWORK JUST INDICATES, FRONT AIR BAG INFLATOR.
TAKATA RECALL HAS AFFECTED MY VEHICLE AND AFTER 7 MONTHS THE COMPANY NOR THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP HAS DONE ANYTHING TO ADDRESS THE DEFECTIVE PART. WE HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED TO NOT ALLOW ANYONE TO RIDE IN THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND THIS IS TERRIBLY OBSTRUCTIVE TO OUR TRANSPORTATION NEEDS. I BELIEVE FAR TOO MUCH TIME HAS ELAPSED AND STILL THE COMPANY NOR THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP HAS ADDRESSED THIS VERY SERIOUS ISSUE.

MY VEHICLE IS UNDER NATIONAL RECALL HIGHWAY SAFETY RECALL, DUE TO MANUFACTURING ISSUES. I NEED TO TRADE MY VEHICLE IN AND I'M BEING OVER CHARGED FOR VEHICLES THAT ARE NOT WORRY TO BE ON THE HIGHWAY. I FEEL I SHOULD GET AN MANUFACTURE DISCOUNT ON AN USED/NEW VEHICLE BECAUSE I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR MANUFACTURED MISTAKES AND I SHOULD NOT BE OVER CHARGED FOR VEHICLES THAT ARE NOT WORTHY OF THE PRICE TAG ON THEM. THANK YOU, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR

WHEN LOOKING AT MY VEHICLE, I NOTICED GREASE STREAKS DRIPPING FROM A LINE ON MY ALLOY WHEEL. AFTER CLEANING THE GREASE OFF, WE NOTICED A CRACK COMPLETELY THROUGH THE SPOKES ON MY RIM. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS OCCURRED TO MY VEHICLE SINCE WE BOUGHT IT BUT I WAS TOLD THERE IS NOT A PATTERN OF DEFECTS. I WAS TOLD ON BOTH OCCASIONS, AT MAZDA DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENTS, MY VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. MAZDA USA TOLD ME NO PATTERN OF INCIDENTS HAVE OCCURRED AND ITS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE ON THEIR END ALTHOUGH THEIR SERVICE DEPARTMENTS SAY OTHERWISE.
MY VEHICLE IS LISTED IN THE OCT 22, 2014 NHTSA PRESS RELEASE AS BEING INCLUDED IN THE TAKATA AIRBAG RECALL. I CONTACTED MAZDA CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE (800) 222-5500 ON OCT 23 BUT, AFTER A FEW DAYS, I WAS TOLD THAT MY VEHICLE IS NOT ON THEIR DATABASE AND THAT I SHOULD CONTACT THE DEALER IN GUAM, TRIPLE J MOTORS (671) 648-2277, WHERE I ORIGINALLY PURCHASED MY VEHICLE. THE DEALER RESPONDED TO ME VIA EMAIL ON OCT 29, STATING THAT ACCORDING TO MAZDA, THE AIRBAG RECALL "IS ONLY EXTENDED TO VEHICLES PURCHASED IN HAWAII, PUERTO RICO AND THE VIRGIN ISLANDS". I'M NOT SURE IF MAZDA IS CORRECT IN EXCLUDING GUAM BECAUSE ACCORDING TO THE NHTSA PRESS RELEASE IT "APPEARS TO BE A PROBLEM RELATED TO EXTENDED EXPOSURE TO CONSISTENTLY HIGH HUMIDITY AND TEMPERATURES" AND THE REGIONAL RECALL INCLUDED GUAM IN THE LIST OF AREAS. PLEASE VERIFY THIS AND LET ME KNOW. I AM CURRENTLY NOT DRIVING THE VEHICLE IN FEAR OF THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY. THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION. *TR
VEHICLE IS MANIFESTING ROUGH IDLE WHEN TURNED-ON WITH CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON AND/OR FLASHING. ENGINE AND VEHICLE IS JERKING INTERMITTENTLY WHEN DRIVING AT ANY SPEED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED LAST YEAR THROUGH DEALERSHIP BUT THIS KEPT HAPPENING FOR THE THIRD TIME WITHIN A YEAR. DEALERSHIP INDICATED ENGINE MISFIRING DUE TO BURNT ENGINE COIL. IF THIS KEEPS HAPPENING EVEN AFTER BEING REPAIRED FOR SEVERAL TIMES WITHIN A YEAR, SOMETHING IS TERRIBLY WRONG WITH MAZDA ENGINEERING. THIS IS A TREMENDOUS SAFETY ISSUE SPECIALLY FOR MY FAMILY AND OTHER MOTORISTS, AND THIS TYPE OF VEHICLE SHOULD BE SUBJECT FOR RECALL. *TR
THE IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE ON THESE VANS IS SERIOUSLY FLAWED AND IS PRONE TO FAILURE WHICH STALLS THE ENGINE AND PUTS OCCUPANTS IN PERIL AT HIGH RATES OF SPEED WITHOUT POWER BRAKING OR STEERING. ONCE STALLED, THE ENGINE CAN OFTEN FAIL TO RESTART, LEAVING THE DRIVER UNPREPARED AND PARALYZED TO REACT. BACKGROUND - APPROXIMATELY SIX MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING OUR VAN USED (2-3 YRS OLD / 30K MILES), WE BEGAN TO EXPERIENCE SIGNIFICANT ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE STALLING RANDOMLY AFTER 6 MONTHS OF OWNING. UNFORTUNATELY, THE ENGINE STALLING WAS NOT A RESULT OF NOT MAINTAINING AN IDLE WELL ON A REGULAR BASIS. IT WAS RANDOM AND OFTEN FOLLOWED BY THE ENGINE RUNNING EXTREMELY ROUGH, ONCE THE DRIVER WAS ABLE TO RESTART (BUT THEN WOULD GO AWAY COMPLETELY UNDETECTED). I CANNOT STRESS HOW UNPREDICTABLE THE ENGINE WAS OVER THE YEAR WE EXPERIENCED THIS INTERMITTENT STALLING. EVERY 1-3 WEEKS IT WOULD STALL AND SOMETIMES WE'D BE STRANDED 1-30 MINUTES BEFORE STARTING AND RUNNING NORMALLY (NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AFTER ENGINE SAT AND RESTARTED. LIGHT WOULD COME ON WHEN PROBLEMS STARTED AND WOULD CYCLE OFF ONCE ENGINE RAN AND COMPUTER CHECKED SENSORS. WHY THE CONTACT TO THE NHTSA? REAL ISSUE I HAVE WITH HERE IS THAT THE VAN WOULD RANDOMLY FAIL TO IDLE AND STALL THE MOTOR WHEN AT FREEWAY SPEEDS OVER THE YEAR (6/2009 - 6/2010) THIS WENT UNIDENTIFIED. AS A PRIMARY MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION IN OUR HOUSEHOLD FOR FOUR CHILDREN (AS MOST VANS ARE), MY WIFE REFUSED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE STARTING IN BEGINNING OF 2010 BECAUSE OF HER EXPERIENCES AND SUBSEQUENT FEARS AFTER MANY CLOSE CALLS IN WHICH SHE COULDN'T STEER OR BRAKE IN A SAFE OR RELIABLE MANNER. THE DRIVER MUST SHIFT TO NEUTRAL (WHILE AT 70+ MPH), AND ATTEMPT TO TURN THE ENGINE OVER, TO GAIN CONTROL AGAIN. TAKE ACTION ON THIS AS IT IS FAR TOO COMMON AND DANGEROUS TO IGNORE. MAZDA MUST BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THE SAFE OPERATION OF THESE VEHICLES. *TR
I WAS DRIVING AT A VERY LOW SPEED IN HEAVY TRAFFIC . LANE NEXT TO ME STARTED MOVING, SO I DECIDED TO CHANGE LANE, FIND A EMPTY SPACE BETWEEN 2 VEHICLES AND DECIDED TO MAKE A TURN. MY MAZDA STALLED , AND DID NOT MOVE. I HAD TO PUT IT BACK TO "PARK", STOP THE CAR, AND RESTART, AFTER THAT IT RAN OK. ALL THIS WAS ON A FREEWAY WITH MOVING TRAFFIC IN THE MIDDLE OF THE LANE, WHEN MY WHEELS WERE TURNED AND PARTIALLY ON THE NEXT LANE AND CAR BODY WAS STANDING STILL. I SEARCHED ON THE INTERNET AND IT HAS HAPPENED TO MANY PEOPLE , DUE TO IAC VALVE GETTING CLOGGED UP. THIS SHOULD BE A SAFETY RECALL . *TR
I WAS WAITING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN INTO MY DRIVE WAY, WAITING TO CLEAR ONCOMING TRAFFIC. WHEN THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC WAS CLEARED, I FOUND A GAP BEFORE THE NEXT CAR COMES MY WAY AND I DECIDED IT WAS SAFE TO MAKE A LEFT TURN. I TURNED THE WHEELS OF MY MAZDA MPV , BUT CAR WENT STALLED, IT WOULD NOT MOVE. I HAD TO STOP THE ENGINE, AND RESTART THE CAR. I SEARCHED THE INTERNET AND MANY PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME ISSUE DUE TO CLOGGED UP IAC VALVE. THIS IS A VERY BIG RISK TO THE SAFETY OF THE PASSENGERS AND SHOULD BE A RECALL. *TR
WE OWN A 2005 MAZDA MPV. FOUR YEARS AFTER PURCHASING, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO SHAKE CONTINUOUSLY AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNED ON. ALSO WHEN GOING UPHILL IT ALMOST CAN' T MAKE IT TO THE TOP. AFTER TAKING IT TO THE MECHANIC IT TURNS OUT THE ENGINE WAS MISFIRING DUE A BAD IGNITION COIL. WE REPLACED THE COIL. A FEW WEEKS LATER IT STARTED DOING IT AGAIN. THIS TIME WE CHANGED THE SIX IGNITION COILS. A FEW WEEKS LATER IT STARTED AGAIN WITH THE SAME PROBLEM BUT NOT AS BAD AS IT WAS BEFORE. WE KEPT USING THE VEHICLE LIKE THAT, FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. NOW THE PROBLEM WAS WORSE, THE VEHICLE STARTED SHAKING AND IT STARTED HOLDING BACK. WE TOOK IT TO THE MECHANIC AGAIN. HE CHANGED ONE IGNITION COIL. IT WORKED FOR A FEW DAYS. THEN IT STARTED SHAKING AGAIN. THE MECHANIC CHANGE ANOTHER ONE, THE SIX SPARK PLUGS AND ONE INJECTOR. IT KEPT WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. SO THE MECHANIC SUGGESTED TO CHANGE THE SIX IGNITION COILS, AND WE DID. THE NEXT DAY THE CHECK ENGINE TURNED ON AGAIN. I REALLY DON'T KNOW WHAT IS WRONG AND SPEND A GREAT AMOUNT OF MONEY ON TRYING TO GET THE VEHICLE FIXED. I HAVE CHANGED THE IGNITION COILS AND STILL THE VEHICLE IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. AFTER RESEARCH ONLINE, WE FOUND OUT WE ARE NOT THE ONLY ONES DEALING WITH THIS PROBLEM. *TR
MY MAZDA 2005 MPV VAN ENGINE SHUTS DOWN COMPLETELY WHEN SLOWING DOWN, SLOWING AROUND CORNERS AND SITTING AT RED LIGHTS. THERE DOES NOT SEEM TO ANY SPUDDERING OR ANYTHING ENGINE RUNS GREAT. LOSS OF STEERING IS THE BIGGEST ISSUE WHEN ENGINE CUTS OFF. I HAVE SEEN A BUNCH OF OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM ON THE SAME MODEL VAN IM SURE THERE'S LOTS MORE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 MAZDA MPV. THE CONTACT STATED WHEN TRAVELING AT 15-35 MPH, THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL WITHOUT WARNING. IN ADDITION, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL KNOCKING SOUND COMING FROM THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOUR TIMES WHERE THE ENGINE COIL WAS REPLACED EACH TIME. THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 74,000.
WE OWN A 2005 MAZDA MPV. TWO YEARS AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE IT STARTED TO SHAKE AND JERK AS IF IT WANTED TO TURN OFF, AFTER TAKING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP IT TURNS OUT THE ENGINE WAS MISFIRING DUE AN IGNITION COIL GIVING OUT. NINE MONTHS LATER IT HAPPENS AGAIN. THIS TIME THEY REPLACED ALL 6 SIX IGNITION COILS. TWO YEARS AFTER REPLACING ALL SIX COILS IT HAPPENS AGAIN. THIS TIME THEY REPLACED THE #3 COIL. WHILE AT THE DEALERSHIP THE SERVICE LADY TOLD US THAT THIS IS A CONSISTENT PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE AND THAT WE WOULD HAVE THIS PROBLEM WITH THE COILS FOR AS LONG AS WE OWN THE VAN. ALL THREE TIMES THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED THE CAR SHAKES AND ACTS AS IF THE ENGINE WANTS TO SHUT OFF. AFTER VIGOROUS RESEARCH ONLINE WE FOUND OUT THAT WE ARE NOT THE ONLY ONES DEALING WITH THIS PROBLEM. AFTER COMPLAINING TO MAZDA VIA EMAIL ALL THEY HAD TO SAY WAS SINCE THE CAR WAS UNDER WARRANTY AND ALL THE COILS WHERE FIX THAT THEY WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO HELP US IN THE FUTURE ONCE OUR EXTENDED WARRANTY RUNS OUT. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 MAZDA MPV. THE VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING 40 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE SLID ON THE ICE AND CRASHED INTO THE MEDIAN ONTO THE HIGHWAY. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THIS WAS THE ONLY TIME THAT THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN INVOLVED IN A CRASH. THE MANUFACTURER TOLD THE CONTACT THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO TO ASSIST HIM. THE CONTACT IS CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY RISK. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 45,000 .
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 MAZDA MPV. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR CONDITIONER SYSTEM IMPROPERLY DISTRIBUTES AIR. AS A CONSEQUENCE, AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF AIR OR HEAT WAS CIRCULATED THROUGHOUT THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, AND A TECHNICIAN WAS IN THE PROCESS OF REPLACING THE FAN CONTROL MODULE AT AN EXPENSE OF $150.00. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED, BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 71,000.
AT 38,000 MILES, THE VAN STARTED TO HAVE INTERMITTENT HESITATIONS THAT RANDOMLY OCCURRED. I NEEDED TO REPLACE ALL IGNITION COILS AT A COST IN EXCESS OF $600. *TR
WAS EXITING PARKWAY WEST WESTBOUND EXIT FOR ROUTE 22 IN PITTSBURGH FOR WEIRTON, WV; ENGINE SHUT OFF ON ITS OWN WHEN ENGINE WENT OUT OF OVERDRIVE AND INCREASED ITS RPMS AND I LET OFF OF GAS PEDAL TO BRAKE - LOST POWER STEERING AND BRAKES, MAINTAINED CONTROL, SHIFTED TO NEUTRAL, RESTARTED ENGINE - TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT REMAINED ON FOR REST OF TRIP TO WV UNTIL KEY WAS RETURNED TO COMPLETELY "OFF". THEN ALL LIGHTS WERE RESET TO NORMAL - NO CHECK ENGINE WARNINGS. THIS HAS OCCURRED ABOUT 5 OR 6 TIMES AGAIN, ALWAYS AFTER ACCELERATING, AND THEN LETTING OFF THE GAS PEDAL. I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO REPLICATE WITH VEHICLE IN PARK - JUST REV ENGINE TO AROUND 2500 TO 3000 RPM, AND LET OFF THE GAS - IT SHUTS OFF EVERY TIME ON ITS OWN. SO FAR I HAVE NOT BEEN REAR ENDED, BUT? *TR
AFTER 60K MILES, MY VAN STARTED STALLING WHEN SLOWING DOWN OR SPEEDING UP. NOT EVERY TIME BUT OFTEN ENOUGH TO CONCERN MY SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF MY CHILDREN. IT HAPPENED TWICE TODAY WITHIN 10 MILES FROM EACH INCIDENT. *TR
THE DRIVER'S SIDE POWER SLIDING DOOR RARELY WORKS. TYPICALLY IT OPENS 1-3 INCHES THEN STOPS AND BEEPS. IF I MANUALLY OPEN IT A FEW MORE INCHES THEN PRESS THE BUTTON AGAIN IT WORKS ON OCCASION, OTHER TIMES I MUST TURN OFF THE POWER TO MOVE IT AT ALL. IT IS A 2005 MPV WITH ONLY 22,500 MILES. ALSO, ON OCCASION THE REAR LATCH OF THE SLIDING DOOR CYCLES, LIKE IT'S TRYING TO SECURE THE DOOR, WHILE DRIVING. I ONLY RECENTLY PURCHASED IT SO I DON'T KNOW IF THIS ONLY OCCURS IN WINTER (IN WI) OR NOT. I HAVE NOT YET TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER. HOWEVER, MY NEXT DOOR NEIGHBOR HAS THE IDENTICAL VAN (EXCEPT HIS HAS 35,000 MILES AND IS AN LX, RATHER THAN MY ES). HE HAS HAD HIS FOR TWO YEARS AND HAS PROBLEMS WITH BOTH POWER DOORS, ESPECIALLY IN WINTER. HIS HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER THREE TIMES WITH THEM CLAIMING THE CAN NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. HE HAS PROBLEMS MANY TIMES EVEN OPENING THE DOORS MANUALLY (WITH POWER OPTION OFF) IN WINTER. BOTH OF US HAVE THREE KIDS AND THIS IS TREMENDOUSLY IRRITATING NEEDING TO LOAD THREE CHILDREN THROUGH THE FRONT DOORS, CLIMB OVER THE DRIVER'S BUCKETS TO THE REAR AND BUCKLE THE KID'S IN, CLIMB BACK OVER THE BUCKETS AND DROP THEM OFF AT SCHOOL REPEATING THE WHOLE PROCESS. OTHER THAN THE "SLIDING" DOORS WE LOVE OUR VANS. *TR
MY 2005 MAZDA TRIBUTE BEGAN TO VIBRATE UNCONTROLLABLY, SKIPS AND MAKING LOUD POPPING NOISES. THE CAR THAN SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY IN TRAFFIC. I THEN HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THAT THE COMPUTER WAS COMPLETELY BURNED UP. THE CAR WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY AND SO THEY FIXED IT AT NO COST TO ME WHICH WAS 2,000 DOLLARS. HOWEVER, I WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR BUYING NEW KEYS WHICH COST 600 DOLLARS. MY CAR IS CURRENT IN THE SHOP WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. I ALSO HAD TO REPLACE THE IGNITION COILS TWICE. IT HAS BEEN LESS THAN A YEAR. *TR
SEAT BELT DID NOT HOLD US WHEN WE WERE HIT FROM BEHIND WHILE WAITING FOR A LEFT HAND TURN LIGHT. *AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 MAZDA MPV. WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD GRINDING NOISE WHILE DEPRESSING THE BRAKE. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED. THE GRINDING SOUND INTENSIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A MECHANIC, WHO STATED THAT THERE WAS A SPRING MISSING ON THE PARKING BRAKE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 27,000.*AK
BEING IN ONE DEALER 4 TIMES AND ANOTHER ONE TIME. STILL NOT FIXED WHINING NOISE IN BACK, TICKING AND CLICKING NOISE IN ROTOR/ BRAKE, AIR CONDITIONER, HEAT, ROUGH DRIVE, AND SEAT SAGGING. NEW DEALER VERIFIED THE PROBLEMS, AND SAID ALL WAS THE CHARACTERISTIC OF THE CAR, BUT WE FIXED THE ROTOR/BRAKE NOISE BY RESURFACING THE ROTOR. THE FIRST DEALER ALREADY DID THE RESURFACING. BUT NO FIX. THAT WASA WHAT 2D DEALER VERIFIED IN 1ST PLACE. I DID NOT HAVE ANY MORE TIME TO WASTE BY GOING TO 3RD DEALER. NOT FIX AS OF 4/9/07. WHAT ELSE I NEED TO DO? CAR HAS 36,OOO MILES. *AK

MY NAME IS [XXX] . MY WIFE AND I WERE IN A CAR ACCIDENT ON 4/14/2006. WE WERE REAR ENDED BY A LADY GOING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH. WE WERE STOPPED WAITING FOR A LEFT HAND LIGHT TO CHANGE. THE SEAT BELTS, MODEL # TK ABA H800 DID NOT HOLD US. MY WIFE HIT THE STEERING WHEEL AND I HIT THE DASH AND THROWN AROUND HITTING THE PASSENGER DOOR WITH MY BACK. I HAD TO HAVE AN OPERATION ON MY RIGHT HAND AS A RESULT OF THIS ACCIDENT. MY WIFE WILL HAVE SURGERY ON HER NECK IN DECEMBER AS A RESULT OF THIS ACCIDENT. I WILL ALSO HAVE AN OPERATION ON BACK AND MY WIFE WHEN SHE IS ABLE WILL HAVE TO HAVE SURGERY ON HER RIGHT ROTATOR CUFF. DRIVING 5 MPH ON ROAD, REAR DEFROSTER ON, REAR WINDOW SHATTERS FOR NO APPARENT REASON. CONTACTED THE DEALER, DEALER SAID WOULD CONTACT HEADQUARTERS TO GET APPROVAL TO REPLACE GLASS. DID REPLACE GLASS. FIRST THING THEY MENTIONED ASKED WHEN THEY HEARD THE REAR WINDOW SHATTERED WAS IF THE DEFROSTER HAD BEEN ON. SUSPICIOUS THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED BEFORE AND WORRIED THIS MAY HAPPEN AGAIN. *NM
2005 MAZDA 3 SEDAN HAS HAD THE FOLLOWING FUEL/STALL FAILURES OVER THE LAST 6 MONTHS. 1ST INCIDENT HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING ON FREEWAY, CAR STALLED AND HAD TO PULLED TO SIDE OF ROAD AND RESTARTED AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES AND ATTEMPTS. 2ND INCIDENT, CAR WAS PARKED IN OWNERS DRIVEWAY AND FAILED TO START (LACK OF FUEL), 3RD INCIDENT CAR AGAIN PARKED IN OWNERS DRIVEWAY AND FAILED TO START (FUEL STARVATION). ALL THREE TIMES THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP AND NOTHING WAS REPAIRED. DEALERSHIP SERVICE ADVISORS CLAIMED THAT FUEL STARVATION/STALLING COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE FUEL STARVATION/STALLING SEEMS TO HAPPENED RANDOMLY, BUT THE RISK OF IT STALLING DURING DRIVING IS A VERY UNSAFE HAZARD. *NM
WHILE DRIVING MY MAZDA 2000 PROTEGE(AUTOMATIC) HOME FROM FRIENDS ON JULY 4 TH, NOTICED THAT THERE WAS A BIG JERK FROM TRANSMISSION AND ENGINE STARTED REWING AT ~4K TO ~5K AND THE CAR WAS LOOSING POWER. I WAS DOING 55 MPH AT THE TIME AND THE SPEED CAME DOWN TO 40 MPH. FROM THAT POINT ON CAR WOULD NOT GO BEYOND 40 MPH AND ENGINE STILL KEEPS REWING AT THAT SPEED. I WAS ON A HIGHWAY IN THE CAR ALONE AND WAS FEARED FOR LIFE THAT THE ENGINE REWING WITH LOUD NOICE WOULD BLOW ON ME. HAD TO TAKE LOCAL ROADS TO MAKE IT TO HOME. THE CAR HAS 37K MILES ON IT AND WAS GENTLY DRIVEN. ALL THE REQUIRED MAINTENANCE WORK WAS PERFORMED. DEALER AFTER PERFORMING THE DIAGNOSTICS CAME BACK WITH THERE WAS AN INTERNAL FAILURE WITH THE TRANSMISSION AND IT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED COSTING OVER $2600.
TRANSMISSION FAILURE IN A 2002 MAZDA MPV VAN. THERE WAS ALWAYS ERRATIC SHIFTING ESPECIALLY WHEN ENGINE WAS COLD. AFTER IT WARMED UP IT SEEMED OK BUT DURING HIGHWAY DRIVING IF HAVING TO SUDDENLY ACCELERATE IT WOULD FEEL LIKE THE TRANSMISSION WOULD FOR LACK OF A BETTER DESCRIPTION "SLIP" BETWEEN GEAR SHIFTS AND BOG DOWN AND THEN CATCH AGAIN. LAST WEEK I WAS ON A RETURN TRIP HOME ON A HIGHWAY COMING UP A HILL WHEN THE TRANSMISSION SUDDENLY STARTED SHIFTING VERY ERRATIC I PULLED OFF AN EXIT AND AT THAT TIME THE TRANSMISSION STOPPED WORKING COMPLETELY...NO GEARS AT ALL AND I COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. HAD IT TOWED TO THE LOCAL MAZDA DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT I WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. I BOUGHT THIS VAN NEW FROM A DEALER IN MASSACHUSETTS BEFORE I MOVED TO THE MIDWEST. IT IS LESS THAN 3 YEARS OLD AND JUST TURNED OVER 70,000 MILES. I ALWAYS KEPT UP THE MAINTENANCE ON THIS CAR AND ALSO OWN A MAZDA PROTEGE 5. NOW I HAVE TO PAY $2100 DOLLARS FOR A TRANSMISSION ON A CAR THAT ISN'T EVEN THREE YEARS OLD! LOOKING AT ALL THE REPORTS I SEE ABOUT THE MAZDA VAN AND THE PROBLEMS WITH THE POWER TRAIN I THINK MAZDA NEEDS TO COME CLEAN ABOUT THE PROBLEMS WITH THEIR TRANSMISSIONS. I AM NOW CONCERNED ABOUT THE TRANSMISSION IN MY MAZDA PROTEGE AND I THINK FOR MY NEXT NEW CARS I PURCHASE I DON'T KNOW IF I WILL EVEN CONSIDER MAZDA.*AK
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING HER NEW MAZDA 3 (5 DR HATCHBACK) TO WORK. SHE APPLIED FULL THROTTLE ACCELERATION TO PASS A SLOW MOVING CAR. AFTER COMPLETING THE PASS, AND BACKING OFF OF THE ACCELERATOR, THE CAR STAYED AT MAX THROTTLE/RPM. SHE HAD TO PUT THE CAR IN NUETRAL TO SLOW DOWN AND AFTER A FEW SECONDS OF REDLINE RPM, THE THROTTLE CAME DOWN TO IDLE. I DROVE THE CAR A FEW DAYS LATER AND WAS ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE SAME PROBLEM. SUBSEQUNETLY, 2 DEALERS HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM OR ISOLATE A FAILURE. WE ARE VERY LEARY OF DRIVING THIS CAR, AND ARE FEARFUL THIS WILL CAUSE AN ACCIDENT IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN.*AK
MADZA 2005 TRIBUTE, CCASIONAL BRAKE FAILURE - 3 TIMES - BRAKES WORK FINE, THEN GO NEARLY TO FLOOR WHEN FAILS. THE ENGINE SPEEDS UP SLIGHTLY, JUST LIKE HITTING THE CLUTCH BEFORE BRAKES. THE DEALER IS REPLACING THE MASTER CYCLINDER, BUT I THINK THE PROBLEM IS A RACE CONDITION BETWEEN THE AWD AND THE BRAKES - THE AWD MIGHT THINK THAT THE BRAKES ARE REALLY AN INDICATION OF SLIPPAGE, SO THE AWD TELLS THE ABS NOT TO ACTIVATE. THE DEALER CANNOT EXPLAIN HOW THE BRAKES RECOVER IF THE MASTER CYLINDER IS AT FAULT. I ALSO SUSPECT THAT THE DEALER "ERASED" ANY PREVIOUS INFORMATION CONCERNING REPAIRS ON THIS VEHICLE. I HAD BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE WITH 4005 MILES AND THE BRAKES FAILED ME THREE TIMES ALREADY IN THE NEXT 800 MILES. *AK
