WE PURCHASED A USED 2006 MAZDA TRIBUTE WITH ABOUT 83,000 MILES ON IT FROM A CAR DEALER. LESS THAN 2 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING IT, THE TIMING CHAIN BROKE AND THE ENGINE FAILED. THE ENGINE FAILED AFTER THE CAR WAS PARKED AND WE ATTEMPTED TO RESTART IT.
THE REAR RIGHT WHEEL WELL AREA WHERE THE SHOCK ABSORBER ATTACHES TO THE FRAME OF THE VEHICLE BUSTED OUT. IT NO LONGER HOLDS THE SHOCK IN PLACE TO ABSORB A BUMP. I WAS RECENTLY INFORMED BY A BODYSHOP PERSON THAT THERE WAS A RECALL THAT I WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF. WOULD YOU LET ME KNOW IF THIS IS TRUE? *TR

HEARD NOISE OF KNOCKING RATTLING 2014-15 HAD IT TOWED TO MACHANIC AND THEY INFORMED ME OF I NEEDED A NEW ENGINE. GOT IT REPLACED WITH A JASPER REBUILT. RIGHT AT 4 YEARS IT HAPPENS AGAIN, ONE YR AFTER WARRANTY. RESEARCHING FOR EITHER RESELL VALUE OR NEW ENGINE GAME ACROSS A PLEATHERA OF SEEZED ENGINES AND THROWN RODS. MOST VEHICLES HAS GREAT BODY BUT BLOWN ENGINE.

THE CONTACT AND PASSENGER WERE BOTH INJURED, BUT DID NOT RECEIVE MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S HOME. AN UNKNOWN DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THEIR SERVICE DEPARTMENT WAS CLOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 105,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 MAZDA TRIBUTE. WHILE DRIVING 85 MPH AND DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED WITHOUT WARNING. THE BRAKE PEDAL HAD TO BE DEPRESSED MULTIPLE TIMES TO SLOW THE VEHICLE DOWN. THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE HOME. ALSO, WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN DRIVE, IT ACCELERATED AT FULL THROTTLE. THE CONTACT CALLED KINSEL FORD (LOCATED AT 3355 EASTEX FWY, BEAUMONT, TX 77706, (409) 899-4000) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V357000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL). THE DEALER STATED THAT IF THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO THE RECALL, THERE WOULD BE NO CHARGE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER AND WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,000.
GAS PEDAL STICKS MAKING IT HARD TO ACCELERATE. DANGEROUS WHEN IN TRAFFIC AND GAS PEDAL WILL NOT MOVE. WHETHER IT IS SUMMER OR WINTER TRYING TO ACCELERATE IS BECOMING VERY DANGEROUS WHEN DRIVING.
HELLO - OUR 2006 MAZDA TRIBUTE RECENTLY HAD ISSUES RELATED TO SPIDER WEBS IN THE VENT HOSE - IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT NOTES, THE FOLLOWING ISSUES WERE NOTED RELATED TO THE FUEL TANK: CANISTER VENT FILTER AND HOSE: END OF VENT HOSE AT TOP OF FILLER KNECK PLUGGED WITH SPIDER WEBS THIS RESEMBLES ISSUES THAT PROMPTED THE RECALL OF LATER MODELS, HOWEVER IN CONTACTING MAZDA, NOBODY HAS RESPONDED TO MY CONCERN, BASICALLY STATING THAT THIS RECALL DOES NOT APPLY TO THIS YEAR - I DO UNDERSTAND THAT, BUT SINCE THE ISSUE IS IDENTICAL, I WOULD THINK THAT THEY WOULD AT LEAST WANT TO KNOW ABOUT IT AND HAVE A REPORTING SYSTEM FOR IT? BEFORE TAKING THE CAR TO THE MECHANIC, IT WOULD ONLY ACCEPT 10 DOLLARS OF GAS AT A TIME, WHICH SHOWS PRESSURE BUILD UP. "TAKATA RECALL" I HAD AN AIRBAG FAILURE AFTER HITTING A DEER AT 65 MILES PER HOUR ON THE HWY. THE CHARGE IN THE AIRBAG WENT OFF BUT THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. THE AIRBAG LIGHT REMAINS ON. I NEED THIS FIXED!

THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO BILL HOOD MAZDA (333 N MORRISON BLVD, HAMMOND, LA 70401, (866) 726-1249) WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS AWAITING TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 250,000.
THIS INVOLVES MY DRIVERS SIDE DOOR THAT CAN NO LONGER BE OPENED BY MY REMOTE..IT ALL STARTED AFTER GETTING A NEW BATTERY INSTALLED..ALL THE OTHER DOORS ON MY SUV OPEN AND LOCK WITH THE REMOTE. THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR IS THE ONLY DOOR THAT I HAVE TO USE MY CAR KEY TO OPEN. THERE MUST BE SOME DEFECT. LAST NIGHT 01/11/2018, I WAS DRIVING HOME AND MY AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON. THIS MORNING MY GAS PEDAL WAS STICKING, AND IT WAS HARD TO DRIVE/GO. ONCE I REACHED THE MAIN STREET, IT WAS HARD TO ACCELERATE. NOW THE AIRBAG LIGHT WON'T GO OFF.
MY GAS PEDAL IS STICKING INTERMITTENTLY. ACCORDING TO MY INTERNET SEARCH, THE V6'S FOR THIS MODEL WAS RECALLED, BUT NOT THE 4 CYLINDER VERSION I HAVE. I HAVE TO BELIEVE IT IS A SIMILAR PROBLEM. I JUST WANT IT TO GET FIXED AS IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE. EITHER IT IS GOING TO GET STUCK IN THE FULL SPEED MODE OR NOT LET ME CHANGE OUT OF A 2 MILES AND HOUR MODE.

THIS IS A 2006, WITH THE SAME EXACT ISSUE OF THE SUBFRAME RUSTING OUT AND BREAKING ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY INSANE! THE RECALL SHOULD HAVE INCLUDED 2005 AND 2006 VEHICLES AS WELL! I'M LOOKING AT THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO HAVE A SUBFRAME PUT IN AND THE REST OF MY VEHICLE IS RUST FREE, SO YOU CAN OBVIOUSLY TELL I TAKE GOOD CARE TO WASH THE UNDERNEATH OF THE VEHICLE!

DOOR AJAR LIGHT COMES ON EVEN THOUGH ALL DOORS ARE FIRMLY CLOSED. WARNING ALARM (DING) COMES ON RANDOMLY ALONG WITH INTERIOR DOME LIGHT AND WON'T SHUT OFF. ALL DOORS ARE CLOSED BUT LIGHT GOES ON AND OFF RANDOMLY AND CONSTANTLY DRAINING THE BATTERY. ALSO JUST HAD TO REPLACE THE SMART JUNCTION BOX BECAUSE THE DOOR UNLOCK BUTTON NO LONGER WORKED ON ANY OF THE DOORS OR KEY FOB SO I COULD NO LONGER OPEN THE BACK HATCH.

I HEARD A BANGING SOUND COMING FROM THE BACK OF MY VEHICLE ONLY TO DISCOVER THAT THE PASSENGER RIGHT SIDE WHEEL WELL HAD COMPLETELY RUSTED AWAY AND THE REAR SUSPENSION WAS BANGING AROUND, I COULD ACTUALLY SEE THE BED LINING OF THE VEHICLE SCARY WHEN YOUR DRIVING AROUND A 3 YEAR OLD! I BROUGHT TO A FRAME SHOP AND WAS QUOTED $2500 FOR REPAIR AND BASICALLY TOLD TO SCRAP THE VEHICLE (VERY DISCONCERTING WHEN THERE ARE ONLY 140,000 MILES ON IT),. AFTER RESEARCHING IT SOUNDS LIKE THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM IN THIS VEHICLE AND I AM HOPING THAT IT IS ADDRESSED WITH A RECALL. I DID END UP FINDING AN AUTO BODY REPAIR SHOP TO COMPLETE THE REPAIRS FOR $800 WHO TOLD ME HE IS SEEING MANY DRIVERS WITH THIS EXACT ISSUE WITH THIS TYPE OF VEHICLE. AFTER TAKING THE BACK END OFF HE SAID THAT THE OTHER SIDE IS ABOUT TO GO AS WELL. I AM NOW STUCK IN AN ETHICAL DILEMMA DO I SELL TO ANOTHER PARTY TO GET MY MONEY BACK ON A DOWN PAYMENT FOR ANOTHER VEHICLE OR DO I JUNK THIS VEHICLE THAT IS UNSAFE AND TAKE THE LOSS SO THAT THIS DOESN'T BECOME SOMEONE ELSE'S PROBLEM. WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY I HIT A BUMP. AFTER THIS BUMP THERE WAS A LOUD BANGING SOUND FROM THE REAR OF MY CAR WHEN I RAN OVER ANY OTHER BUMPS IN THE ROAD. UPON INSPECTING THE SOUND I DISCOVERED THAT MY PASSENGER SIDE REAR SUSPENSION HAD RUSTED COMPLETELY AWAY FROM THE INNER WHEELHOUSE WHERE THE SUSPENSION WAS WIELDED TO.

MY MAZDA TRIBUTE V 6, 3.0 ALL OF A SUDDEN STOPPED ON THE HIGHWAY. I HAD IT TOWED TO MY SON'S HOUSE, THAN TO THE MAZDA DEALERSHIP. IT WAS AT THE DEALERSHIP WHEN I WAS TOLD WHAT HAD OCCURRED. MY COILS HAD BLOWN OUT AND DAMAGED MY (PCM)COMPUTER. THEY SAID IT WOULD COST $2689. I COULD NOT AFFORD THE DEALERSHIP'S COST SO I HAD IT TOWED AGAIN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHERE HE REPLACED THE COILS. I WENT ON EBAY AND FOUND A REASONABLY PRICED PCM WHERE IT WAS PROGRAMMED KEYS INCLUDED. MY RESEARCH HAS LED ME INTO WRITING THIS LETTER. I FOUND THAT FORD MOTORS AND THEIR AFFILIATES HAVE KNOWN ABOUT THIS PROBLEM WITH THE COILS BLOWING OUT THE PCM FOR QUITE SOME TIME AND HAVE NEVER TOLD THE OWNERS OF THEIR VEHICLES ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. IF I HAD KNOWN I WOULD HAVE NEVER PURCHASED THE VEHICLE.

I WAS UNABLE TO STOP MY VEHICLE IN TIME TO AVOID A COLLISION WITH ANOTHER CAR. IT FELT TO ME THAT I HAD NO CONTROL OVER THE CAR BECAUSE THE ENGINE WAS RACING. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS MY VEHICLE HAS HAD A STICKY GAS PEDAL. I ALERTED THE DEALERSHIP IN THE PAST ADVISING OF THIS SAME ISSUE REGARDING MY PRIOR 2003 MAZDA TRIBUTE VEHICLE. I WAS TOLD IN THE PAST TO CHANGE THE GAS UTILIZED. IN ADDITION, I WAS RECENTLY ADVISED TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE DUE TO A POSSIBLE RECALL. MY CAR IS NOW AT THE DEALERSHIP AND I HAVE BEEN ADVISED THERE ARE NO RECALLS AND I WILL BE CHARGED$357 TO HAVE A RING PUT ON THE LEFT WHEEL CAUSING A MALFUNCTION IN THE BRAKING SYSTEM (ABS LIGHT). I DID THIS FOR THE 10 MILES AND APPROXIMATELY 1.5 HOURS WE ARRIVED AT MY PARENTS HOUSE WHICH WAS THE CLOSEST LOCATION. AFTER SITTING ALL NIGHT, IT DID THE SAME THING. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE HOME IT WOULD ONLY REV THE ENGINE AND YOU COULD CHANGE GEARS WITHOUT ANYTHING HAPPENING TO THE TRANSMISSION. AFTER TAKING IT TO THE MECHANICS, $3600 LATE, THE MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT MAZDA KNOWS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. THE TRANSMISSION VENDORS FROM WHICH MY NEW ONE WAS BOUGHT TOLD THE MECHANIC, THE PROBLEM IS DUE TO THE TRANSMISSION FLUID BECOMING TO HOT AND NOT BEING ABLE TO COOL DOWN FAST ENOUGH. WHILE DRIVING TO WORK I STARTED TO HEAR A BANGING SOUND FROM THE BACK OF MY VEHICLE. IT SOUNDED LIKE THE BACK WINDOW WAS OPEN & BANGING EVERY TIME I HIT A BUMP. WELDING IS NOT EVEN AN OPTION TO REPAIR THIS DAMAGE. THERE IS NO OTHER RUST OR BODY DAMAGE TO MY VEHICLE. THERE WAS A PROTECTIVE COATING ON THE INNER WHEEL WELL TO PREVENT THIS. THE DRIVER SIDE IS FINE AND IS SHOWING NO SIGN OF RUST/ROT. WHILE SEARCHING THE WEB FOR SUPPORT I SEE THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM IN THE FORD ESCAPE AND MAZDA TRIBUTE (VIRTUALLY ONE IN THE SAME). I WAS TREATED EXTREMELY BADLY ALL SERVICE PERSONEL WERE RUDE AND REFUSED TO OFFER ANY OPTIONS ABOUT MY VEHICLE OTHER THAN $6200 FOR ENGINE REPAIR AND NO EXPLAINATION WHY THE ENGINE LIGHT DID NOT WORK. I WAS EVEN OFFER A TRADE TO PURCHASED ANOTHER MAZDA FROM THAT DEALERSHIP. *JS

AS THE WEATHER GETS COLD, THE GAS PEDAL BECOMES HARDER TO DEPRESS, AND AT TIMES WILL NOT DEPRESS AT ALL. FOR THE PAST YEAR, THE VEHICLE'S ACCELERATOR/GAS PEDAL HAS AT TIMES FELT "STUCK" SO THAT THE DRIVER MUST PRESS DOWN HARDER THAN NORMAL TO ACCELERATE. ORIGINALLY THE DRIVER WAS UNDER THE IMPRESSION THAT THE MAT WAS OBSTRUCTING THE GAS PEDAL'S ABILITY TO BE DEPRESSED. OVER TIME HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE HAS SHOWN AN INCREASED DIFFICULTY IN THE GAS PEDAL BEING DEPRESSED. MOST RECENTLY, ON JANUARY 23, 2014, THE VEHICLE WAS IDLING WHILE IN TRAFFIC. WHEN THE DRIVER ATTEMPTED TO PRESS DOWN ON THE ACCELERATOR, THE GAS PEDAL DID NOT MOVE. THE DRIVER WAS FORCED TO PRESS HARD ON THE ACCELERATOR, AND WHEN DOING SO, THE ACCELERATOR BECAME "STUCK" AND QUICKLY JOLTED THE VEHICLE FORWARD. THE DRIVER HAD TO IMMEDIATELY PRESS DOWN ON THE BRAKE TO AVOID COLLISION WITH THE VEHICLE IN FRONT. THE SPEED AT THE TIME WAS LESS THAN 15 MILES PER HOUR AND THE DRIVER WAS ABLE TO COME TO A STOP AVOIDING COLLISION. SINCE THE INCIDENT ON JANUARY 23, THE VEHICLE'S GAS PEDAL HAS INCREASINGLY SHOWN MORE "STICKING" AND HAS BECOME VERY HARD TO ACCELERATE WITHOUT APPLYING A GREAT AMOUNT OF PRESSURE DOWN ON THE PEDAL. THIS CAUSES CONCERN AS THE VEHICLE QUICKLY ACCELERATES IN A JUMP-LIKE MANNER RATHER THAN SLOWLY ACCELERATING TO A COMFORTABLE DRIVING SPEED. I WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH IN TOWN AND WITHOUT WARNING, MY ENGINE SOUNDS LIKE IT IS MAKING POPCORN. I HAD TO PULL OVER AND HAVE THE CAR TOWED TO MY MECHANIC. HE FOUND THAT THE ENGINE BLEW A SPARK PLUG. HE INSTALLED A HELICOIL REPAIR AND THEN FOUND THE ENGINE WOULD ONLY RUN ON 3 CYLINDERS. THEY THEN FOUND THAT THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE ENGINE COMPUTER AND ALL 6 IGNITION COILS OR THE COMPUTER WOULD NOT BE WARRANTED. AFTER THESE REPAIRS THERE WAS A TICKING NOISE IN THE ENGINE THAT HAD NOT BEEN THERE. THE CAR WAS THEN TOWED TO A MAZDA DEALERSHIP AS MY USUAL MECHANIC DOES NOT HAVE THE SPECIALIZED TOOLS FOR ENGINEER REPAIR, AND THEY DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS METAL SLIVERS IN THE ENGINE AND RAN ENGINE CLEANER THROUGH THE ENGINE TWICE. THE NOISE IMPROVED, BUT IS STILL THERE. THE DEALERSHIP ADVISED ME THAT I NEEDED A NEW ENGINE AND THE CAR ONLY HAS 94,055 MILES ON IT. SOON AS VEHICLE WAS IN THE LEFT TURN, THE O/D LIGHT STARTING FLASHING WITH THE ENGINE LIGHT COMING ON. AAMCO PULL FIVE CODES OFF THE VEHICLE ONCE IS WAS TOWED TO THEIR LOCATION. THE BIG ONE IS 740 WHICH DEALS WITH THE TORQUE CONVERTER. THIS MEANS THE TRANSMISSION NEEDS AN OVERHAUL DONE - GET READY FOR THE STICKER SHOCK FOR REBUILDING THIS TRANSMISSION $3,000.00. BUY A REBUILT TRANSMISSION AND THE COST IS STILL ABOUT THE SAME PRICE AS IF GETTING THIS ONE REBUILT. FROM WHAT I HAVE READ ON PEOPLE BUYING REBUILT TRANSMISSIONS, THEY HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THEM A COUPLE OF YEARS LATER. PER DEALERSHIP REPORT, OIL LEAK FOUND EMANATING FROM A LARGE GAPING HOLE ON BOTTOM OF ENGINE BLOCK (V6) WHERE IT APPEARS CYLINDER ROD #5 DISCONNECTED AND WENT THROUGH THE BOTTOM OF THE ENGINE BLOCK AND RUPTURED THE OIL FILTER, RELEASING ALL ENGINE OIL CONTENT. ENGINE CONSIDERED BLOWN BY DEALERSHIP AND GIVEN OUT OF WARRANTY, AN $8500 ENGINE REPLACEMENT IS REQUIRED AT THE TOTAL EXPENSE OF THE OWNER GIVEN THE VEHICLE IS BEYOND THE 36,000 MILE ENGINE WARRANTY PERIOD, AND THEREFORE MAZDA IS NOT RESPONSIBLE. MY GAS PEDAL STICKS WHEN MY VEHICLE GETS COLD. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE ABOUT A YEAR AGO USED AND WHEN THE TEMPERATURE DROPPED THE GAS PEDAL WOULD STICK. I STARTED MY CAR AGAIN, AND AGAIN IT WENT FOR 200 FEET BEFORE STORPPING AND STALLING. THE STATE POLICE GAVE HIM A BLOOD TEST FOR ALLEGED DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE, BUT IT CAME UP NEGATIVE. HE IS SUFFERING MUSCULAR INJURIES AS IS HIS GIRLFRIEND WHO WAS A PASSENGER IN THE VEHICLE. WHILE PASSING A SLOWER VEHICLE ON A TWO LANE ROAD, THE MAZDA TRIBUTE'S ACCELERATOR STUCK. I LET OFF THE GAS AT 65MPH BUT THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE TO OVER 4000 RPM AND 85 MPH. TURNS OUT IT WAS THE PASSENGER SIDE. NOW, JUST LAST MONTH, AT ABOUT 70,000 MILES THE LIGHTS AND FLASHING STARTED AGAIN. THIS TIME IT WAS THE DRIVER SIDE AXLE THAT WENT BAD. WE HAVE ALSO HAD TO REPLACE BOTH U-JOINTS. 2006 MAZDA TRIBUTE: IN THE LAST TWO WEEKS THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT HAS LOCKED INTO PLACE AND DRIVER WAS UNABLE TO GET OUT OF THE CAR. ONE OF THE TIMES, DRIVER DROVE TO A DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS TOTALLY DISCONNECTED FROM THE FLOOR BEHIND THE SEAT; SO DRIVER COULD GET OUT. MECHANIC SAID TO NOT BUCKLE AGAIN, BUT IT IS ROUTINE, SO IT HAPPENED AGAIN. NOW WHEN DRIVING, THE BUZZER BUZZES FREQUENTLY TO REMIND TO BUCKLE SEATBELT, THAT CANNOT BE UNBUCKLED. IT IS BUCKLED UP, AND DRIVER IS SITTING ON THE BELT. THIS CAR BELONGS TO A 78 YEAR OLD, WHO WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO GET OUT IF SHE HAD A WRECK. IT HAS HAPPENED TO MULTIPLE DRIVERS OF HER CAR. I WAS HAVING MY BRAKES REPLACED BY MY BOYFRIEND. HE WAS USING THE JACK TO RAISE THE VEHICLE UP TO TAKE THE TIRE OFF TO CHANGE THE BRAKES. THE MECHANIC THEN SPECULATED THAT THE BRAKE LINE MAY HAVE BECOME LOOSE ON ITS OWN. THE DEALER REPLACED BOTH FRONT BRAKE LINES. A WEEK LATER, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT BRAKING PROPERLY. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER, BUT THEY FOUND NO FAILURES. THE FOLLOWING DAY, WHILE DRIVING DOWNHILL AT 10 MPH, THE BRAKES FAILED WHEN THE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. SHE MANAGED TO STOP THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT ALL OF THE BRAKE FLUID HAD LEAKED OUT AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE MECHANIC AND HE STATED THAT THE SAME FAILURE OCCURRED, BUT ONLY TO THE REAR BRAKES. BOTH REAR BRAKE LINES WERE REPLACED AT THAT TIME. CURRENTLY, THE ROTORS NEED TO BE REPLACED OR REGROUNDED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ROTORS WERE REPLACED JUST BEFORE THE FAILURE OCCURRED. MAZDA WAS UNHELPFUL WITH EXPLAINING THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT BELIEVES THAT A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED SO THAT THE FAILURE DOES NOT RECUR IN TWO YEARS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 95,000.
MY 2006 TRIBUTE HAS 47,000 MILES. THE ABS LIGHT CAME ON-AND STAYED ON, AND THE 4WD LIGHT FLASHED ON AND OFF 3 OR 4 TIMES ABOUT EVERY MILE. OUR DEALER INSPECTED AND FOUND IT WAS A BROKEN PART IN THE FRONT AXLE, WHICH WAS UNDER WARRANTY. THEY KEPT THE CAR OVERNIGHT AND REPLACED IT. I ASKED IF WE COULD EXPECT THIS TO HAPPEN TO THE OTHER AXLE AND THEY COULD NOT GIVE A DEFINITIVE ANSWER. EVEN MORE TROUBLING IS THE FACT THAT NOW THE CAR PULLS TO THE RIGHT. THROTTLE STUCK CAUSING ENGINE TO RACE AND VEHICLE UNRESPONSIVE. I HAD TO THROW THE CAR INTO PARK (WHILE IT WAS MOVING) AND TURN OFF THE KEY TO GET THE CAR TO STOP. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 MAZDA TRIBUTE. WHILE DRIVING 62 MPH, THE VEHICLE APPEARED TO HAVE LOST POWER WITHOUT WARNING AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO A MAZDA DEALER AND THEY PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC. THE RESULTS DETERMINED THAT THERE WAS A LOOSE GROUND ON THE FUEL PUMP DRIVER MODULE. THE LOOSE GROUND WAS CLEANED AND TIGHTENED. THERE IS A SERVICE BULLETIN FOR THIS EXACT FAILURE. THE BULLETIN NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 19,136 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,900.

ONE TIRE HAD 2 SEPARATE FRACTURES ON TIRE IN DIFFERENT PLACES CAUSING TIRE TO GO FLAT. I DID RESEARCH ON THESE TIRES, THERE ARE NUMEROUS PROBLEMS WITH SIDEWALL BLOWOUTS AND FRACTURES BETWEEN TREADS. THIS HAS CAUSE THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS IN BODY DAMAGE AND CONSUMERS HAVING TO REPLACE THESE TIRES AT THEIR OWN EXPENSE. I PURCHASED A MAZDA TRIBUTE 2006 MODEL ON 9/4/06 AND I TOOK IT IN ON 11/1/06 FOR WATER IN HEADLAMP, WATER WAS GETTING DOWN THE IN WINDOWS, AND TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT BLINKING. VEHICLE MAKES A LOUD HIGH PITCH WHINING NOISE WHEN ENGINE IS AROUND 1000 RPM BUT DISAPPEARS WHEN THE ENGINE IS BELOW OR ABOVE THE 1000 RPM. THIS OCCURS REGARDLESS OF WHETHER THE CAR IS PARKED OR DURING NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS SO LONG AS THE ENGINE IS AROUND 1000RPM. IN ADDITION TO THE HIGH PITCH WHINING NOISE, THERE IS A NOTICEABLE AMOUNT OF VIBRATION THAT IS FELT. ALSO, AFTER COMING TO A FULL STOP, WITHOUT THE GAS PEDAL BEING PRESSED, AFTER HAVING REVVED DOWN TO ABOUT 650 RPM, THE ENGINE SOMETIMES REVS BACK UP TO ABOUT 1000 RPM AND PRODUCE THE WHINING NOISE. *JB
AFTER COMING TO A STOP AT AN UPHILL GRADE--APPROX A 20 DEGREE INCLINE, AS SOON AS THE BRAKE IS RELEASED, THE VEHICLE ROLLS BACKWARDS. THE ONLY MEANS TO PREVENT THE VEHICLE FROM ROLLING BACK IS TO PRESS ON THE BRAKE AGAIN OR TO IMMEDIATELY PRESS HARD ON THE GAS PEDAL. HOWEVER, ALTHOUGH THE VEHICLE EVENTUALLY STARTS MOVING UPHILL, THERE IS A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF BACKWARD TRAVEL PRIOR TO THE ENGINE PRODUCING ENOUGH POWER TO OVERCOME THE BACKWARD ROLL. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN SINCE THERE MIGHT BE VEHICLES DIRECTLY BEHIND ME WHEN THIS OCCURS. UPON NOTICING NOISE AND VIBRATION, I TOOK IT TO BACK TO THE DEALER ON 4/10/06. I WAS TOLD TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AT 8:30 A.M ON 4/11/06. AT 3:30 ON 4/11/06, THE DEALER CONTACTED ME AND SAID THAT THE TECH NOTICED THE NOISE AND VIBRATION BUT DID NOT KNOW WHAT CAUSED IT. DEALER TESTED ANOTHER VEHICLE OF THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL AND SAID THAT BOTH VEHICLES WERE MAKING THE SAME NOISE AND THAT IT WAS JUST PROBABLY NORMAL ENGINE NOISE. UPON ARRIVING AT THE DEALERSHIP, THE TECH TOOK ME TO ANOTHER VEHICLE AND WE LISTENED TO THE ENGINE. I INDICATED TO THE TECH THAT THE TEST VEHICLE WAS NOT BEHAVING SIMILARLY AS MY VEHICLE AND SO I WAS REFERRED TO THE ASST. SERVICE MANAGER. THE ASST. SERVICE MANAGER TESTED THE VEHICLE AND SAID THAT HE THOUGHT THE NOISE WAS NOT NORMAL AND THAT HE COULD FEEL THE VIBRATION FROM THE ENGINE TO THE STEERING WHEEL. HE SAID THAT THERE MIGHT BE SOME GRINDING OCCURRING WHEN THE ENGINE WAS THROTTLING DOWN BUT THAT HE COULD NOT TELL PRECISELY THE CAUSE OF THE NOISE OR VIBRATION AND THAT HE WOULD CONTACT MAZDA ENGINEERS TO SEE IF THE NOISE AND VIBRATION WERE INHERENT TO THE VEHICLE. ON 4/12/06, THE ASST. SERVICE MANAGER CONTACTED ME AND SAID THAT HE CALLED THE MAZDA HOTLINE AND THAT THERE WERE NO INCIDENTS OF NOISE OR VIBRATION REPORTED. Mazda is recalling certain model year 2001 through 2006, and 2008, Tribute vehicles equipped with 3.0L V6 engines and speed control. Inadequate clearance between the engine cover and the speed control cable connector could result in a stuck throttle when the accelerator pedal is fully or almost-fully depressed. This risk exists regardless of whether or not speed control (cruise control) is used.

The Timken Company (Timken) is recalling certain aftermarket front wheel bearings, part number 510072, sold from January 22, 2015, to May 21, 2015, to be used as service parts on 2001-2012 Ford Escape, 2001-2011 Mazda Tribute, and 2005-2011 Mercury Mariner vehicles. The affected wheel bearings have incorrect dimensions of a 42mm bore, 76mm outer dimension, and 39mm width, instead of a 42mm bore, 78mm outer dimension and a 45mm width.
