I was purchasing a 2006 Mercedes Benz R500 Black on November 3,2021, VIN: [XXX]. in the process of driving the vehicle less than ten miles, part of the part of transmission case broke off. THE VEHICLE'S REAR DRIVERS SIDE BRAKE OR REVERSE LIGHT WOULD NOT GO OFF FOR A WEEK (TO MY KNOWLEDGE) AND WHILE SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SIDE I TURNED ON THE HEAT WARMING DEVICE AND THERE WAS NO PROBLEM. IT WAS AFTER WE HAD BEEN SHOPPING AND RETURNED TO THE VEHICLE DID WE NOTICE A SMELL OF SOMETHING BURNING, BUT COULD NOT TELL WHERE IT WAS COMING FROM. STILL UNAWARE THAT A FIRE COULD START FROM THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE, IS WHEN WE REALIZED THAT THE CARGO AREA OF THE VEHICLES SIDE PANEL WAS IN COMPLETE FLAMES! THUS, CAUSING PHYSICAL AND MENTAL INJURIES, SMOKE AND PROPERTY DAMAGE AND A COMPLETE SENSE OF INSECURITY. THE VEHICLES MAIN SECURITY FEATURE NEVER WARNED US OF ANY POTENTIAL LIFE THREATENING DANGER AS IT WOULD IF MY TIRE WAS LOW AND THE ON CALL SYSTEM FAILED TO BE HELPFUL WHEN TRYING TO GET HELP, FOR WE WERE ONLY ABLE TO HEAR THE REPRESENTATIVES BUT NOT COMMUNICATE WITH THEM WHICH LED TO 5 REPRESENTATIVE DISCONNECT CALLS.
AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY I PRESSED ON GAS PEDAL AND VEHICLE MADE A VERY LOUD CHAIN WHINE NOISE AND IT CUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF HIGHWAY AND NEVER STARTED BACK UP.
VEHICLE HAS BEEN UNDRIVEABLE ON AND OFF FOR 6 MONTHS WITH DEFECTIVE STARTER WIRING HARNESS WHICH THE WIRES ARE EXPOSED, AND STARTING INTERMITTENTLY. TOWED FROM THE STREET 2 MONTHS AGO AND SITTING AT THE MECHANIC TRYING TO HELP ME. MERCEDES BENZ HAS A SAFETY RECALL #2006040002 FOR THE EXACT PROBLEM. THEY TELL ME IT IS FOR THE 2006 R350 AND NOT THE R500 MAYBE BECAUSE THEY WERE VERY LIMITED. THESES MODELS ARE THE SAME BUILT CHASSIS EVERYWHERE, INCLUDING THE STARTER WIRING HARNESS, EXCEPT I HAVE THE UPGRADED V8. AND THEY REFUSE TO FIX. SINCE THIS HAS CAUSED ME BREAK DOWN ISSUES AND IS A POTENTIAL SAFETY HAZARD AS DESCRIBED. I HAVE PAID $1200 A YEAR AGO TO REPLACE A DEFECTIVE WIRE HARNESS INSIDE THE CHASSIS, AS THE CAR SMOKED AND ALMOST CAUGHT FIRE AS I HAD TO PULL OFF THE ROAD AND TOW. AM I STUCK AGAIN?? MAY 13, 2019, MY WIFE STARTED THE CAR AND DROVE FOR LESS THAN A MILE WHEN HER DRESS STARTED SMOKING FROM THE DRIVER SEAT THAT WAS ALIGHT. SHE STOPPED THE CAR AND REMOVED OUR 11 MONTH OLD BABY FROM THE BACKSEAT AND CALLED ME. SHE HAS A VIDEO OF THE INCIDENT. I CHECKED ON MERCEDES USA SITE AND FOUND OUT THAT THERE WAS A CLASS ACTION LAW SUITE ON THIS ISSUE. WE WERE NOT NOTIFIED BY EITHER MB OR THE ADMINISTRATOR OF THE CASE. THIS COULD HAVE TURNED OUT DEADLY AS THE BATTERY IS UNDER THE PASSENGER SEAT AND THE FUEL LINES. I TURNED THE CAR ON AND AGAIN , THE SEAT STARTED TO SMOKE. IT IS NOW PARKED IN OUR DRIVEWAY AS MY WIFE AND I ARE SCARED OF PUTTING OUR KIDS IN IT. I CONTACTED MB USA AND THEY DIRECTED ME TO THE ADMINISTRATOR OF THE LAW SUITE. THIS CAN CREATE DANGEROUS OR EVEN DEADLY SITUATIONS IF MY WAS ON A HIGHWAY AND COULD NOT STOP OR FIE ESCALATES RAPIDLY WITH OUR CHILD IN THE BACK SEAT.

AFTER DIAGNOSTICS FOUND THAT THE FRONT SAM HAD BEEN UNDER WATER SHORTING THE SAM AND ALMOST CAUSING VEHICLE TO CATCH FIRE. WOULD NEED THE FRONT SAM AND WIRING REPAIR ALONG WITH CONNECTOR REPLACEMENT TO MOVE FORWARD WITH DIAGNOSTIC. THE WATER IS COMING FROM THE FIREWALL ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. WAS AT WORK HAD TO LEAVE IT AT MY JOB BECAUSE IT WOULDN'T START SO THE NEXT DAY I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED.
COMPLAINT IS DIRECTED TO COURT@GROVEAUTOCENTER.COM IN FOREST GROVE, OREGON. AT TIME OF PURCHASE, TIRES WERE TOTALLY WORN AND DEALER AGREED TO NEW TIRE REPLACEMENT. SUBSEQUENT EVENT REVEALED REPLACEMENT TIRES WERE NOT NEW AND HAD PREVIOUSLY BEEN IMPROPERLY REPAIRED. IN ADDITION, LOAD FACTOR WAS BELOW MINIMUM MANUFACTURERS RATING AND UNSAFE. DEALER REFUSED TO REIMBURSE COST OF NEW AND CORRECT REPLACEMENT TIRES.
TAKATA RECALL. I PURCHASED MY 2006 MERCEDES R350 IN 2016 WITH OVER 100K MILES ON IT. WITH THE ENGINE LIGHT ALREADY ON. I USED A SCANNER TOOL FOR AN ACCURATE DIAGNOSIS. AS IT STATED TWO ISSUES. A CRANK SHAFT SENSOR/ CAM SHAFT SENSOR WAS NEEDED. SO I DECIDED AGAINST MY BETTER JUDGEMENT TO FINALIZE THE PURCHASE ANYWAY. NEEDLESS TO SAY, AFTER I CHANGED THE SENSORS THE PROBLEM STILL REMAINS. AFTER DOING A LOT OF RESEARCH AND SPENT UNNECESSARY MONEY, IT WAS BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION THAT THE PROBLEM IS IN FACT A FAULTY BALANCE SHAFT INSIDE OF THE ENGINE. DUE TO A MANUFACTURING DEFAULT. THAT WAS COVERED MY MERCEDES IN A RECALL AT ONE POINT BEFORE I HAD PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. FOR SOMETHING AS SERIOUS AS A DEFECTED PART IN A MOTOR SHOULD NOT BE LIMITED TO WHEN YOU PURCHASE THE VEHICLE, BUT WHENEVER IT IS BROUGHT TO THEIR ATTENTION IT SHOULD BE REPAIRED WITHOUT HESITATION SINCE THIS IS A MANUFACTURING DEFAULT AND NOT SOMETHING THAT WAS DONE BY ANY PREVIOUS OWNERS. THE TRANSMISSION HAS A FAULTY SHIFT SOLENOID THAT CAN ONLY BE REPLACED BY A MERCEDES BENZ DEALER AND THEREFORE IS MANY TIMES MORE EXPENSIVE THAN OTHER REPAIRS. ALSO THIS SOLENOID HAS A WELL ABOVE AVERAGE FAILURE RATE. MY CAR HAS 112,000 MILES AND THE TRANSMISSION BEGAN SHIFTING POORLY AND GOT STUCK IN 4TH GEAR. CAN BECAME VERY JERKY AND ONCE WENT INTO PARK WITHOUT ME SELECTING PARK, THIS HAPPENED AT A STOP LIGHT WITH CARS COMING UP BEHIND ME.
YESTERDAY, WHILE PARKED, I NOTICED THE CAR IS LEANING TOWARDS LEFT SIDE. MECHANIC CHECKED AND FOUND THE AIR SPRING BAG WAS LEAKING. ALSO, THE STRUT ON RIGHT GOT SHOT. MANY OWNERS HAVE THE SAME COMPLAINT. I'M SCARED TO TRAVEL WITH MY KIDS AND GRAND KIDS IN THE CAR. THESE CARS MUST BE RECALLED FOR SUSPENSION PROBLEMS. THE HEATED SEATS WERE TURNED ON THE DRIVER SEAT WHILE WAITING IN LINE AT A FAST FOOD DRIVE THRU ON JUNE 15, 2017 AROUND 1:00AM. I PULLED OF AFTER GETTING MY FOOD. THEN WHILE I WAS LEAVING THE PARKING LOT I STARTED TO FEEL REALLY WARM ON MY BACK AND SIDE, HOTTER THAN NORMAL. I STARTED TO SMELL SMOKE! I PULLED OVER QUICKLY AND GOT OUT OF THE CAR AND I REALIZED MY CLOTHING WAS SMOKING AND THE BACK OF MY SEAT WAS ON FIRE. THE FIRE WENT OUT AND MY JACKET AND T SHIRT HAD BURNS AND ASHES ON THEM AND MY DRIVER SEAT HAD LARGE HOLE IN IT.

I PLAN TO CALL MERCEDES DEALER TOMORROW- DO NOT ANTICIPATE ANY HELP ON THEIR PART - IF THAT'S THE CASE WILL TRY TO JOIN CLASS ACTION SUIT AS THIS IS A KNOWN AND VERY COSTLY -(THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS) PROBLEM FOR NUMEROUS MB VEHICLES- MANY CLASSES FROM 2007 -2011. MERCEDES BENZ WAS APPARENTLY AWARE OF THIS DEFECT WHEN I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE (USED) FROM LOCAL MB DEALER HERE IN NY 2009 AS A PRE OWNED CERTIFIED VEHICLE, WHY WAS I NOT MADE AWARE OF THIS ISSUE THAT MERCEDES KNOWINGLY KNEW AND COME TO FIND OUT A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT WAS FILED. TOWED CAR TO DEALERSHIP SAYS NEEDS NEW VALVE BODY OF TRANSMISSION. RESEARCHED ONLINE VERY COMMON PROBLEM. DEFECT IN MANUFACTURING AND PARTS.
CONSISTENT ISSUES WITH DRIVERS SIDE AIRBAG. SMS LIGHT COMES ON AFTER BEING REPAIRED SPORADICALLY. MULTIPLE REPAIRS DOCUMENTED VIA BOSCHE AND ASE MERCEDES BENZ REPAIR FACILITY. SPOKE WITH HENDRICK MERCEDES BENZ AND THEY ADVISED THAT A VOLUNTARY RECALL FOR THE AIRBAG WAS ISSUED BUT IS NO LONGER HONORED. I WAS NEVER INFORMED OF THE VOLUNTARY RECALL AND THE FACTORY MERCEDES BENZ DEALER IS NO LONGER HONORING THE VOLUNTARY RECALL. I WILL NEED TO GARNER THE PREVIOUS REPAIR INVOICES FROM THE CERTIFIED MERCEDES BENZ REPAIR SHOP.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE COMPRESSOR, RELAY, FUSE LINK, AIR SUSPENSION, AND CORE RETURN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED TWO MORE TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 50,000.
THIS IS A WELL DOCUMENTED ISSUE BUT MERCEDES BENZ REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE BALANCE SHAFT AS A DEFECT AND ROAD SAFETY HAZARD. UNFORTUNATELY IT'S GOING TO TAKE SOMEONE'S ENGINE FALLING A PART AT HIGH SPEED CAUSING AN ACCIDENT BEFORE SOMEONE WILL DO SOMETHING WHICH IS TERRIBLE. MERCEDES-BENZ BALANCE SHAFT PROBLEMS AND HOW TO CHECK YOUR CAR. BALANCE SHAFT MERCEDES V6 AND V8 PROBLEMS MERCEDES-BENZ V6 AND V8 ENGINES HAD TIMING CHAIN PROBLEMS CAUSED BY BALANCE SHAFT AND IDLER GEAR FAILURES. MERCEDES PRODUCED CERTAIN MODELS WITH DEFECTIVE GEARS IN THEIR BALANCE SHAFTS (M272 ENGINES) OR WITH DEFECTIVE IDLE GEARS ( M273 ENGINES). THESE FAULTY GEARS WEAR OUT PREMATURELY, EXCESSIVELY, AND WITHOUT WARNING, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO MALFUNCTION, THE 'CHECK ENGINE LIGHT' TO REMAIN ILLUMINATED, AND THE VEHICLE TO MISFIRE OR STOP DRIVING.
EVERYDAY I GET A RED SIGNAL ALERTING ME TO STOP DRIVING, CAR TOO LOW. IT USUALLY OCCURS WHEN INITIALLY TURNING ON THE CAR OR AT THE BEGINNING OF THE DRIVE. THE REAR OF THE CAR IS VISIBLY LOW AND WHEN DRIVING IT IS UNEVEN AND BUMPY. I HAVE SEEN OTHER R350 OWNERS WITH SAME COMPLAINT AND REPEAT COSTS TO FIX ~1200.00 EACH SIDE. NO SUSPENSION RECALLS ON AN APPARENT DEFECT IN MANUFACTURING?

WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN, THE VEHICLE ALMOST FLIPPED OVER. THE FAILURE RECURRED CONTINUOUSLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 110,000.
THE 2006 MERCEDES BENZ R350 WITH THE AIRMATIC SUSPENSION HAS MULTIPLE PROBLEMS THAT SEEM TO NEVER END. MY CAR HAS ONLY 70K MILES ON IT. THE SUSPENSION HAS BEEN FIXED TWICE BY AN AUTHORIZED MERCEDES BENZ SHOP. WHILE LOOKING UP SOME INFORMATION ON VARIOUS WEBSITES AND FORUMS I NOTICED I AM NOT THE ONLY OWNER WITH THIS PROBLEM. WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY A LIGHT CAME ON THE DASH SCREEN STATING VEHICLE TOO LOW TO DRIVETO SHOP. WHEN THE SUSPENSION GOES OUT THE VEHICLE FRAME IS APPROXIMATELY 2 INCHES FROM THE GROUND. THE STIFFENED RIDE MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER THE VEHICLE. MERCEDES BENZ STATED YOU CAN'T GET A TRADITIONAL COIL SPRING CONVERSION IN THE UNITED STATES. THE SUSPENSION PROBLEMS WITH THE R350 ARE ALSO VERY COSTLY ($3600) EVERY TIME THIS HAS TO BE FIXED. MY CAR IS CURRENTLY IN STORAGE DUE TO NOT BEING ABLE TO AFFORD A THIRD TIME TO THE SHOP. A BURNING ODOR EMITTED INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS MANEUVERED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE SEAT HEATER WAS IMMEDIATELY DEACTIVATED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED MINOR BURNS TO THE BACK AREA AND MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS NOT REQUIRED. THERE WERE NO FLAMES VISIBLE. A FIRE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE SEAT AND HEATING ELEMENT WERE BOTH REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
WIRING FROM ENGINE HARNESS TO FUEL PUMP BURNT ON FREEWAY , ENGINE STALLED AND SHUT DOWN, COULD NOT START BACK UP IN MIDDLE OF I5 FREEWAY. REPAIRS ARE AMOUNTING TO $4000. COULD HAVE BURNT ENTIRE VEHICLE AND AFTER READING NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS WITH EXACT SAME PROBLEM SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE.
REAR LIGHT MODULES (TAIL, REVERSE, BRAKE, SIGNAL) KEEPS ON FAILING. DEALER QUOTES INITIALLY $250 TO FIX/REWIRE BUT THEN GOES UP TO $950 TO REPLACE ECU. THIS IS FRUSTRATING AS THIS IS DRIVING HAZARD, OWNERS ARE LEFT WITHOUT MUCH CHOICE. I HAVE SEEN MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME ISSUE SO MB SHOULD ALREADY KNOW THAT THIS PROBLEM EXISTS AND BE HONEST UPFRONT ABOUT IT. I HOPE NOBODY GETS HURT IF THE LIGHTS FAIL WHILE DRIVING THIS MODEL/BRAND.

ITS BEEN 15 MONTHS AND CAR JUST STOPPED SMACK IN MIDDLE OF FREEWAY AT 60 MILES PER HOUR AND WOULD NOT START. CURRENTLY AT DEALER.

WHILE I WAS DRIVING, I LOST POWER STEERING. I HAD TO PULL OVER AND SAW THAT MY ENGINE BELT WAS OFF MY ENGINE AND A PULLEY CAME OFF MY ENGINE. THIS IS AFTER THE DEALERSHIP HAD ALREADY REPLACED MY BELT JUST LESS THAN 10,000 BEFORE. IT WAS A GOOD THING THAT NO ONE WAS HURT. MY CAR HAS ALWAYS BEEN SERVICE BY MERCEDES DEALERSHIP. I BARELY DRIVE MY R350 MERCEDES. MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I WAS TOLD THAT MY BALANCE SHAFT AND INTAKE MANIFOLD NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER SAID ITS A COMMON PROBLEM THAT OCCUR WITH THE 2006 AND THEY ARE NOT SURE WHY ITS NOT A RECALL. *KB
THE VEHICLE INDICATED CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THE ERROR CODE SHOWS P0016 WHICH IS SHAFT BALANCE ISSUE. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WOULD NOT ATTEND TO IT DESPITE THE FACT THAT IT A KNOWN ERROR FROM FACTORY. THE ISSUE WOULD REOCCUR BECAUSE OF POOR MATERIAL AND COULD CAUSE THE CAR TO STALL WHILE IN TRAVEL.

AFTER A NORMAL DAY OF DRIVING THE VEHICLE, I STOPPED FOR A SMALL AMOUT OF TIME SWITCHED THE CAR OFF. WHEN I RETURNED THE CAR WOULD NOT START, AFTER 30 MINUTES OF THIS I HAD IT TOWED TO A DEALER. AT TIMES THE SHIFT LEVER WOULD NOT WORK. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND FOLLOWED THE INSTRUCTIONS IN THE MERCEDES-BENZ CAMPAIGN #2006090001 WHICH HAS A NHTSA #10021242. AFTER FOLLOWING THE INSTRUCTIONS IN THE CAMPAIGN MY VEHICLE WILL START IN PARK AND GO INTO REVERSE OR DRIVE BY ITSELF. THE INDICATER SAYS IT IS IN PARK WHEN IT STARTS BUT SHIFTS TO DRIVE OR REVERSE BY ITSELF EVEN WITHOUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS BECAUSE THE CAR JUST TAKES OFF.

OUR 2006 R350 HAD ALL THE TAIL LIGHTS BURN OUT AT THE SAME TIME RESULTING IN A SAFETY ISSUE. THERE APPEARS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL AND YEAR WITH A WIRE HARNESS THAT CONTROLS THE REAR BRAKE LIGHTS. WHEN THIS HARNESS FAILS THE TAIL LIGHTS STOP WORKING. ON SEPTEMBER 19, 2010 I STARTED UP MY VEHICLE AND NOTICE A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT APPEARS ON MY DASHBOARD. I DROVE THE VEHICLE FOR TWO MORE DAYS AND THE LIGHT DISAPPEARED. I WAS INFORMED NOT TO PANIC IT'S PROBABLY THE GAS CAP NOT PROPERLY ON OR SINCE I WAS AWAY FOR ONE WEEK AND MY VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN THE GARAGE MAYBE THAT IS WHY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. I THEN DECIDE TO TAKE MY VEHICLE RIGHT TO MERCEDES BENZ BECAUSE I DID NOT WANT TO TAKE ANY CHANCES WITH THIS MESSAGE. I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN AND INFORMED THE SERVICE ADVISOR ABOUT THE LIGHT. LATER ON THAT DAY I RECEIVED A PHONE CALL INFORMING ME THE VEHICLE NEEDS A COUNTER BALANCER? I ASKED HIM HOW DOES HE KNOW AND HE REPLIED THAT THE TECHNICIAN SAW SMALL METAL PARTICLES IN MY OIL PAN. MY VEHICLE WAS FULLY SERVICED IN MARCH, 2010 THE REPAIR HE TOLD ME WILL BE VERY COSTLY BETWEEN $4000-$6000 FOR A COUNTER BALANCER ! I LEFT THE VEHICLE AND CALLED MERCEDES BENZ CUSTOMER CARE TO ASK THEM ABOUT THIS PART. THE CUSTOMER CARE REP INFORMED ME THAT THIS VEHICLE DOES NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM AND TO GO GET MY VEHICLE BEFORE THEY START THE REPAIR. I WENT BACK TO GET MY VEHICLE AND THE SERVICE ADVISOR TOLD ME THAT THE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE, AND MAY STOP ON ME WHILE IN DRIVE. I HAD NO OTHER RECOURSE BUT TO HAVE MY VEHICLE REPAIR. WHEN I PICK UP MY VEHICLE SEVERAL DAYS LATER I ASKED AGAIN ABOUT THE REPAIRS AND WAS GIVEN A LENGTHY REPAIR BILL WITH ALOT MORE ITEMS THEN WHAT THE SERVICE ADVISOR SAID NEEDED TO BE DONE TO MY VEHICLE. I CALLED ANOTHER TECHNICIAN WHO IS ALSO EMPLOYED WITH MERCEDES BENZ AND ASK ABOUT THIS PART, AND HE TOLD ME MERCEDES BENZ KNOWS ABOUT THE COUNTER BALANCER IN SOME OF THE 350 ENGINE BUT WILL NOT RECALL THEM. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY MERCEDES BENZ IS NOT RECALLING THIS EXPENSIVE PART ! *TR

AIR MATIC SUSPENSION MALFUNCTION ERROR MESSAGE WITH NO CODES. CAR HAS BEEN IN AND OUT OF DEALERSHIP FOR PAST YEAR FOR THIS ISSUE. DURING HIGHWAY DRIVING CAR ISSUED WARNING THAT CAR HEIGHT WAS TOO LOW FOR DRIVING, MANUAL READ TO PROCEED WITH CAUTION. ONCE PARKED AND OFF, THE CAR COMPLETELY DROPPED TO THE GROUND CAUSING THE TIRES TO RUB AGAINST THE WHEEL WELL. ANOTHER OCCURRENCE, WHEN PLACING MORE WEIGHT IN ADDITION TO THE DRIVER CAUSES THE MALFUNCTION ERROR MESSAGE CAUSING A ROUGH RIDE AND THE SUSPENSION TO RAISE UNEVENLY. CAR HAS BEEN TO THE MB DEALERSHIP OVER 4 TIMES AND THEY CANNOT FIGURE OUT WHAT IS CAUSING THIS PROBLEM WITH THE AIRMATIC SUSPENSION AS THE COMPUTER DOES NOT LEAVE ANY CODES FOR THEM TO FOLLOW. CAR IS BEING DRIVEN AND TESTED BY THE DEALERSHIP OVERNIGHT (THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THEY'VE MONITORED OVERNIGHT) AND OVER THE WEEKEND TO FURTHER MONITOR THE PROBLEM WITH A COMPUTER CONNECTED TO THE CAR TO DETECT THE MALFUNCTION. THE MALFUNCTION STARTED OCCURRING EVERY THREE MONTHS AND HAS PROGRESSED TO EVERY OTHER WEEK DURING THE PAST YEAR. THE CAR DOES NOT DRIVE AS CAR WITH AIR MATIC SUSPENSION SHOULD BUT RATHER A CAR WITH NO SUSPENSION AT ALL. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 MERCEDES R350. WHILE SITTING IN THE VEHICLE WITH THE HEATED SEATS ACTIVATED, THE CONTACT COULD SMELL AND SEE SMOKE AS THE SEAT BEGAN TO BURN. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 49,000.
AT COMPLETE STOP AT STOP LIGHT WITH BRAKE FULLY DEPRESSED THE TACHOMETER SHOWED SEVERAL REPEATED INCREASES IN RPM FROM 600-800 CAUSING THE CAR TO ROCK THEN THE CAR ACCELERATED TO 2200 RPM ACTIVATING THE ANTILOCK BRAKING SYSTEM. THIS HAS RECURRED ON AN INTERMITTENT BASIS FROM THE 6-1100. THIS IS IN CONJUNCTION WITH DEPRESSION OF THE ACCELERATOR AT OTHER TIMES WITH NO RESPONSE FROM THE ENGINE. MERCEDES LOOKED AT THE VEHICLE AND I ACCOMPANIED A TEST DRIVE AND ALL PROBLEMS OCCURRED FROM NO ACCELERATION SEVERAL SECONDS TO THE 6-800-RPM ACCELERATION AT FULL STOP WITH BRAKES DEPRESSED. THEY DID NOT DO ANY REPAIR, NO PARTS REPLACED THE CAR IS AS IS STILL ON THE ROAD. *TR
HEADLAMPS SHINE TOO CLOSE TO CAR. ONLY SHINE 40-50 FEET OUT TO THE FRONT AND AT NIGHT, ESPECIALLY IN RAIN, YOU ABSOLUTELY CANNOT SEE THE ROAD OR HAZARDS IN IT, SUCH AS DEER. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 MERCEDES-BENZ R350. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE THE VEHICLE HESITATED THEN ACCELERATED UP TO 20000 RPMS (TACHOMETER RED LINE). HE WAS ABLE TO TURN THE ENGINE OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND REPAIRED. SEVERAL MONTHS AFTER THE REPAIR THE FAILURE RESURFACED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AGAIN TO THE DEALER AND A TECHNICIAN CONCLUDED THAT THE TRANSMISSION'S ELECTRONIC DEVICE FAILED. HOWEVER HE SPECULATES THAT THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE FAILED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 45,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 49,000.

THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO HAVE ELECTRICAL FAILURES AND THE POWER SUNROOF LID WOULD NOT CLOSE. THE DEALER ORDERED AN UNDISCLOSED PART FROM GERMANY. THE CURRENT MILEAGE AND ENGINE SIZE WERE UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000.
2006 MERCEDES BENZ R350 PROBLEM WITH FAULTY TRANSMISSION **CC THE VEHICLE ROLLED BACKWARDS OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY AND STRUCK A PARKED CAR. THE CONSUMER WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER, THE REASON WHY THE VEHICLE ROLLED, WAS BECAUSE HE LEFT THE KEYS IN THE IGNITION. THE CONSUMER STATED A BUTTON MUST BE PUSHED TO PLACE IN TO PARK. IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE CONSUMER DIDN'T PLACE THE VEHICLE INTO PARK. IT WAS STATED THAT IF THE KEY IS LEFT IN THE IGNITION, AND NOT PLACED INTO PARK, THE VEHICLE WILL NOT GO INTO PARK BY ITSELF. THE CONCLUSION WAS USER ERROR. THE CONSUMER BELIEVED THERE IS A MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT WITH THE TRANSMISSION. THE CONSUMER DID NOT HAVE A POLICE REPORT. *JB
MERCEDES R CLASS SPEED SENSITIVE STEERING HAS LITTLE PLAY AND ITS MEASUREMENT OF HARDENING AND SOFTENING THE STEERING IS UNPREDICTABLE. SOMETIME STEERING ITSELF BECOME VERY SOFT THAT VEHICLE IS HARD TO CONTROL AND SOMETIME IT BECOMES VERY HARD. TOTAL RANDOM BEHAVIOR, EFFECT DRIVING AND SAFETY. *NM
MY WIFE DROVE OUR MERCEDES BENZ R350 TO A FRIENDS HOUSE TO DROP OFF THE KIDS. UPON STOPPING ON THE DRIVEWAY MY WIFE SHUT THE CAR OFF (KEY IN OFF POSITION) GOT OUT AND WENT TO THE PASSENGER SIDE TO HELP MY DAUGHTER OUT OF THE THIRD ROW. AT THAT SAME TIME MY SON EXITED THE VEHICLE AND WAS STANDING OUTSIDE THE CAR. AS MY WIFE BEGAN TO MOVE THE SEAT FOR MY DAUGHTER THE CAR ROLLED DUE TO NOT BEING IN PARK, ROLLED PAST MY SON AND WENT THROUGH THE FRIENDS GARAGE DOOR. ALL CARS I KNOW OF THAT ARE AUTOMATICS REQUIRE THE VEHICLE BE IN PARK PRIOR TO THE KEY GOING TO THE OFF POSITION. MERCEDES BENZ HAS THE CAR PROGRAMMED SO THAT IF THE USER FORGETS TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK, PARK WILL BE ENGAGED ONCE THE KEY IS REMOVED (A HAPTIC ADMISSION OF GUILT). FOR SAFETY REASONS THE LOGIC SHOULD BE MODIFIED SLIGHTLY TO: ZEROSPD+(DOOROPEN*KEYOFF)=PARK I CALLED MERCEDES BENZ AND THEY SEE THIS AS MY WIFE'S FAULT. IT IS SIMPLE TO THEM, PEOPLE DON'T LEAVE THEIR KEYS IN THEIR CARS SO GOING INTO PARK ONCE THE KEY IS REMOVED IS FINE. THE SHIFTER THIS CAR HAS IS HIDDEN BEHIND THE STEERING WHEEL AND WILL TAKE A LOT OF GETTING USED TO IN ORDER TO REMEMBER TO PUT IT IN PARK. ON THE SECOND DAY WE HAD THE CAR HOME I ALMOST GOT OUT WITHOUT BEING IN PARK. IT WILL COST $1100 FOR A NEW GARAGE DOOR AND THE R350 HAS SOME MINOR SCRATCHES ON THE FACIA. TO ME THIS IS SIMPLE, MERCEDES BENZ PUTS THE CAR IN PARK (FOR THOSE THAT FORGET) ONE STEP TOO LATE OVERLOOKING CONDITIONS THAT COULD LEAD TO SAFER LOGIC. MY SON COULD HAVE BEEN CRUSHED BY THE CAR, HE ONLY MADE IT AS FAR AS THE FRONT FENDER AND WAS ABOUT TO WALK IN FRONT OF THE CAR. I AM STILL WAITING TO HEAR BACK FROM BERNARD, THE CHIEF TECHNICIAN THAT I LEFT A VM WITH ON THE 800-FOR-MERC LINE. *NM

THE VEHICLE WAS SEEN BY A DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHO DETERMINED THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM AND THIS WAS REPLACED. AFTERWARDS, WHILE APPLYING BRAKE PRESSURE AT VARIOUS SPEEDS THE VEHICLE ROLLED BACKWARDS, BUT WAS NOT PLACED IN REVERSE. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY THE DEALER WHO DETERMINED THE BRAKES WERE NORMAL.
