TRANSMISSION SKIPS GEARS FROM A STOP TO GO ACCELERATION. TOOK MY VEHICLE TO A CHEVROLET ASE CERTIFIED REPAIR FACILITY TO HAVE CHECKED. THE CLUTCH PLATE WAS MELTED ALONG WITH SOME PLANETARY BEARINGS DESTROYED. THE REPAIR BILL CAME TO 1,800.00 $. NOW THE VEHICLE IS SHOWING SIGNS OF A RECURRING SLIPPAGE PROBLEM ONLY AFTER 2 MONTHS SINCE IT WAS REPAIRED AND USED PARTS REPLACED. WHY ISN'T THERE A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE? MY 2007 CHEVROLET MONTE CARLO SS LESS THAN 72,000 MILES ON IT.

WHEN I ATTEMPT TO TURN OFF MY VEHICLE, THE KEY WILL NOT ROTATE TO THE OFF POSITION..THEREFORE, THE KEY IS STUCK IN THE IGNITION AND THE CAR IS STILL ON, DRAINING THE BATTERY. I TOOK THE CAR TO A DEALERSHIP IN 2013 AND TOLD NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH IT BUT THEY CHARGED ME $165.00 TO PUT IN A NEW IGNITION. THE PROBLEM WAS INTERMITTENT UNTIL DECEMBER 2014 AND NOW THE KEY IS PERMANENTLY STUCK IN THE IGNITION AND IF I WANT TO DRIVE MY CAR, I HAVE TO CHARGE THE BATTERY EVERY TIME I DRIVE IT. GM JUST RECALLED THE COBALT AND HHR FOR THE SAME ISSUE. WHY NOT EXPAND THE RECALL TO INCLUDE ALL GM PRODUCTS WITH THIS ISSUE. *TR

LETTER FROM CONGRESSMAN FORBES ON BEHALF OF CONSTITUENT RE: VEHICLE RECALL ON 2007 CHEVROLET MONTE CARLO (MAIL REPLY TO CHESTERFIELD, VA OFFICE). *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE DEALER TOLD HIS WIFE, THEY KNEW NOTHING ABOUT A RECALL.
THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL ISSUES WITH THE INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT AND DON'T KNOW HOW MUCH OF A SAFETY CONCERN IT IS BUT I FEEL WITH THE AMOUNT OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH IT THAT IT IS SOMETHING THAT NEEDS TO BE CHECKED INTO POSSIBLE RECALL. I HAVE HAD TO HAVE MINE REPLACED AT ONLY 26,000 MILES BECAUSE FROM MY UNDERSTANDING IT IS DUE TO A POOR DESIGN. *TR
WHEN PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR AFTER BEING STOPPED AT A LIGHT, THE VEHICLE JERKS AND VIBRATES A COUPLE OF TIMES BEFORE ACCELERATING. IT FEELS AS IF THE GEAR IS NOT SHIFTING PROPERLY. IT HAPPENS OFTEN AND THRUSTS US FORWARD QUITE A FEW TIMES. *TR
WHEN WE PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK TO EXIT IT, THE KEY GETS STUCK. AS A RESULT WE HAVE TO HIT THE GEAR SHIFT A COUPLE OF TIMES TO REMOVE KEY. DOESN'T HAPPEN EACH TIME BUT DOES HAPPEN OFTEN. *TR
FROM A STOPPED POINT THE TRANSMISSION SLIPS UPON ACCELERATION CAUSING THE CAR TO MAKE A LOUD CLUNKING NOISE AND THEN JERK AND BARK THE TIRES UNTIL THE CAR GOES INTO GEAR ALMOST CAUSING ME TO BE REAR ENDED EACH TIME. *TR
I HAVE LEARNED THAT WHEN MY DEFROST IS ON AND I HIT A WATER PUDDLE MY POWER STEERING GOES OUT FOR ABOUT 30 SECONDS AT A TIME. I USE THE DEFROST TO KEEP MY WINDOWS FROM FOGGING UP IN THE RAIN. TOOK ME A WHILE TO FIGURE OUT IF I TURN OFF THE DEFROST IT WOULDN'T HAPPEN. BUT THEN MY WINDOWS FOG UP! TOOK IT TO MY CHEVY DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME THAT WAS NORMAL! I WORK ON CARS FOR A LIVING. THAT IS DANGEROUS! I'M SURE GM KNOWS ABOUT THIS AND MAYBE EVEN SOME PAL HAVE DIED FROM THIS HAPPENING? GIVING WHAT IS GOING ON NOW WITH GM CAN YOU PLEASE MAKE THEM FIX THIS NOW PLEASE? *TR
THE VEHICLE BURNS A LOT OIL AM HAD TOO PUT MULTIPLE TRANSMISSIONS IN INN TWO WEEK THE OIL IS GOING SOMEWHERE THE OVER ALL CAR IS A PIECE OF JUNK G M NO IT THE 5.3 MOTOR RUN GOOD BUT BURN I LOT OF OIL I NEED FOR GM TO DO WHAT'S RIGHT IN RECALL ALL MONTE CARLO SS IN IMPALA SS PEOPLE I ASK IF THEY CAR IS DOING THE SAME THING ...;..;???((??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????,?,,,,,,???????????????????????????...................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................,,............::::::::::::.....................GM PUT A MASS UP CAR TOGETHER AND THEY KNOW IT ............ I WAS AT A RED LIGHT AND THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN AND I PRESSED ON THE ACCELERATOR AND THE ENGINE REVVED WAY UP BUT I DID NOT GO ANYWHERE, AND THEN KIND OF CLUNK AND IT SEEMED TO HAVE POPPED IN GEAR. THE AMOUNT OF TORQUE THAT WAS DELIVERED TO THE WHEELS CAUSED ME TO VEER INTO THE LANE NEXT TO ME THAT HAD ALREADY BEGAN TO MOVE. A SEMI TRUCK ALMOST HIT ME! *TR
I HEAR FROM SOMEONE THAT YOU MAY BE ABLE TO HELP! BELOW IS A BLOG I MADE TO THE MONTE CARLO FORUM SITE. PLEASE READ TO GET AN IDEA OF WHAT MY COMPLAINTS ARE. I OWN A 2007 MONTE CARLO SS. I HAVE BEEN TO CHEVY 6 TIMES UNDER WARRANTY FOR THIS TRANSMISSION ISSUE. EACH TIME THEY TOLD ME THEY DID NOT FIND ANY ERROR CODES OR PROBLEMS ON THE TEST DRIVES. I FIND THIS HARD TO BELIEVE. MY TRANSMISSION SHIFTS HARD AT TIMES LIKE IT IS MISSING. THIS SLIPPING / HARD SHIFTING IS A SAFETY HAZARD FOR GETTING ON TO PARKWAYS AND NEEDING TO RESPOND QUICKLY TO CERTAIN SITUATIONS. ALL SEEMS TO BE HAPPENING IN FIRST GEAR. I BROUGHT THE CAR BACK TO THEM ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO (OUT OF WARRANTY) FOR AN ENGINE BURNING OIL ISSUE WHICH BY THE WAY I ALSO BROUGHT TO THEIR ATTENTION 5 TIMES UNDER WARRANTY. WHICH ALL OF A SUDDEN (YOU GUESSED IT) THEY ADMITTED THE ENGINE WAS BURNING OIL AND I WOUND UP HAVING TO PAY $1000.00 TO TARE DOWN THE ENGINE AND $250.00 TO FLUSH OUT THE TRANSMISSION (EVEN THOUGH THEY DID NOT FIND A TRANSMISSION ISSUE FOR A 7TH TIME). THEY TOLD ME THE CYLINDERS WERE NOT SCORED AND WERE FINE SO THEY CHANGED THE PISTONS AND RINGS. SUPPOSEDLY THE SAID THE JOB COST $3600 +. MY A-- HOW NICE OF THEM, (NOT). BEING I PAID FOR THE TARE DOWN YOUR TELLING ME PISTONS AND RINGS COST $3600. BS, STILL TO EARLY TO SEE IF THE ENGINE IS STILL BURNING OIL. AND HERE'S THE KICKER-(THE CAR ONLY HAS 50,000 MILES ON IT AND I HAD A 6 YEAR 60,000 MILE WARRANTY ON IT). SO NOW I AM STILL STUCK WITH THIS TRANSMISSION ISSUE WHICH THEY DO NOT HAVE AN ANSWER FOR. ANY SUGGESTIONS ON WHAT I SHOULD DO NEXT. AND GOING BACK TO CHEVY IS NOT AN ACCEPTABLE ANSWER UNLESS IT'S IN FRONT OF A JUDGE. ANY FURTHER QUESTIONS PLEASE DO NOT HESITATE TO E-MAIL ME. 2007 CHEVROLET MONTE CARLO. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO A DEFECTIVE TRUNK LIGHT MECHANISM THAT IGNITED A FIRE IN VEHICLE BURNING IT BEYOND REPAIR. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT.
I HAD JUST EXITED THE HIGHWAY AND WAS SITTING AT A RED LIGHT WAITING TO TURN LEFT, WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED I STEPPED ON THE THROTTLE LIKE NORMAL AND THE TRANSMISSION REVVED UP, CLUNKED INTO GEAR STARTED ROLLING AND THEN BEGAN TO SHUDDER & VIBRATE. I HAD ONLY BEEN ABLE TO MOVE ABOUT 10 FEET. I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR AS THE CAR FELT LIKE IT WOULD SHAKE IT SELF TO PIECES. AT THIS POINT SOMEONE ALMOST BACK ENDED ME. I THEN STEPPED ON THE ACCELERATOR AGAIN AND DIDN'T MOVE THE ENGINE JUST REVVED AND THEN ANOTHER LARGE CLUNK AND THE CAR POPPED INTO GEAR JERKED FORWARD ALMOST CAUSING ME TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE CAR. IF THERE WERE POOR WEATHER CONDITIONS I FEEL THIS TRANSMISSION ISSUE WOULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. *TR
WHEN EXITING THE EXPRESSWAY AND TURNING LEFT ON TO NEW ROAD THE POWER STEERING LOST ASSIST, ALMOST HIT WALL ON OVERPASS, THEN LOST ASSIST 2 MORE TIMES ON LOW SPEES TURNS, BAD STEERING RACK AT 49000 MILES. *TR
TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPING SOME TIMES THE GEARS DO NOT SEEM TO CATCH AND IT SLIPS AND JERKS THE CAR INTO GEAR CAUSING THE CAR TO OCCASIONALLY LOSE TRACTION DURING ACCELERATION. CAN BE A LITTLE SCARY AT TIMES. *TR *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET MONTE CARLO. WHILE PARKED, THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO ACTIVATE THE HAZARD LIGHTS SEVERAL TIMES HOWEVER THE LIGHTS WERE INOPERABLE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 163,600.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET MONTE CARLO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE FROM A TRAFFIC STOP, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESPOND AND THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO SHIFT INTO ANY GEAR. AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES, THE VEHICLE BECAME RESPONSIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED TO THE CONTACT THAT IF THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE VEHICLE, THEN THEY WERE UNABLE TO ASSIST. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 71,000.
TRANSMISSION SHUDDER AND SLIPPING AT 35MPH ALSO POOR SHIFT AT 45MPH. *TR
CAR WILL NOT SHIFT OUT OF PARK INTERMITTENTLY. DEALER FOUND WIRES TO BE BROKEN AND WIRES THAT WERE FRAYED AT THE SHIFT SOLENOID. THEY REMOVED CONSOLE TO SPLICE AND FIX THE WIRES. DEALER DEEMED WEAR AND TEAR? AT 32,000 MILES? (CONSOLE WOULD HAVE COVERED THESE WIRES TOTALLY SO NOT SURE WHERE THE WEAR AND TEAR WOULD BE FROM). FROM PUTTING THE CAR IN PARK? DRIVE? REVERSE? I DOUBT IT WAS WEAR AND TEAR. *TR
POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILS AT SLOW SPEEDS MAKING PARKING DIFFICULT AND TURNING THE WHEEL WHILE STOPPED DIFFICULT. STEERING WHEEL BINDS AND IS RESISTANT WHEN THIS HAPPENS, AND IS MOST NOTABLE AFTER VEHICLE IS HOT AND HAS REACHED TEMPERATURE. SOME CLATTER NOISE OCCURS WHEN THIS HAPPENS. I DID COMPLAIN TO THE DEALER IN DETAIL WHILE UNDER WARRANTY, BUT WAS TOLD THAT NOTHING WAS FOUND. WARRANTY HAS SINCE EXPIRED , AND I SUSPECT THAT THIS PROBLEM EITHER HAS NO SOLUTION OR WOULD NOT BE HANDLED WITH A SATISFACTORY OUTCOME. I HAVE READ THAT OTHERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS TYPE OF FAILURE WITH THE 2007 MONTE CARLO, PROMPTING ME TO NOTIFY YOU THAT THIS MAY BE A WIDE SPREAD SAFETY ISSUE AFFECTING THIS MODEL VEHICLE. *TR
VERY UNEVEN AND PREMATURE WEAR OF REAR TIRES ON 2007 CHEVROLET MONTE CARLO SS DUE TO DEFECTIVE SPINDLE RODS. TIRES WERE REPLACED. *TR
AT AROUND 60 MPH THE TRANSMISSION WOULD COME IN AND OUT OF LOCK UP. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID IT WAS THE TORQUE CONVERTER COMING APART IN THE TRANSMISSION. ALSO I STILL HAVE A CLUNKING NOISE COMING FROM THE CAR AT TAKE OFF. THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT IT IS. *TR
TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS CLUNKING, AND IT REVS HIGH WHEN SHIFTING. *TR
I HAVE A 2007 CHEVROLET MONTE CARLO THAT I BOUGHT NEW AND THE CRUISE CONTROL WILL TAKE OVER AT ANY TIME OR SPEED. IT MAY GO 2 WEEKS AND NOT DO IT, BUT MOST OF THE TIME IT WILL DO IT 2 OR 3 TIMES A WEEK. WHEN IT DOES IT MAY DO IT 1 TO 4 TIMES. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO MY DEALER 4 OR 5 TIMES BUT THE JUST SAY THEY CAN'T GET IT TO DO IT . I CALLED CHEVROLET AND THEY SAY THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING TELL IT DOES IT WHEN THEY ARE DRIVING IT. IS THEIR ANY ONE I CAN GO TO GET IT FIXED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED? I PUT THE LAST TIME IT DID IT IN THE BOX BELOW BUT IT DOES IT AT DIFFERENT TIME. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET MONTE CARLO. AT LOW SPEEDS SUCH AS 25 MPH, THE CONTACT CANNOT READ THE SPEEDOMETER GAUGE WHEN THE WEATHER IS CLOUDY OR OVERCAST. HE FELT THAT THIS WAS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE HE CANNOT DETERMINE HOW FAST HE IS DRIVING. HE CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THEY COULD INSTALL AN AFTERMARKET SPEEDOMETER, BUT IT WOULD NOT BE GUARANTEED. THE CONTACT REFUSED THIS OPTION. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 1,500. UPDATED 01/02/08.*LJ UPDATED 12/12/07

A POTENTIAL MATERIAL OR DESIGN DEFECT COULD RESULT IN THE STEERING KNUCKLE BREAKING IN THE HUB AREA.
THIS RECALL ONLY PERTAINS TO AFTERMARKET DORMAN STEERING KNUCKLES AND HAS NO RELATION TO ANY ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT INSTALLED ON VEHICLES MANUFACTURED BY GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION. OWNERS MAY ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S VEHICLE SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), OR GO TO HTTP://WWW.SAFERCAR.GOV .
This defect can affect the safe operation of the airbag system. Until this recall is performed, customers should remove all items from their key rings, leaving only the ignition key. The key fob (if applicable), should also be removed from the key ring. General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2005-2009 Buick LaCrosse, 2006-2011 Buick Lucerne, 2000-2005 Cadillac DeVille, 2006-2011 Cadillac DTS, 2006-2014 Chevrolet Impala, and 2006-2007 Chevrolet Monte Carlo vehicles.
