WHILE TRAVELING ON I-84 IN IDAHO THE TIRE TREAD SEPARATED FROM THE TIRE. THIS WAS THE SECOND TIRE TO FAIL. THE TIRES WERE COOPER CS5 GT 98T SERIAL NUMBER U96V1CW1617
AFTER EACH AND EVERY VEHICLE FUELING, THE VEHICLE STALLS SEVERAL TIMES CAUSING LOSS OF STEERING AND BRAKES. THIS IS DANGEROUS AND UNSAFE AS THIS SCENARIO HAPPENED TO ME AT AN INTERSECTION AND AT A TURN NEARLY CAUSING ME TO HAVE AN ACCIDENT. *TR
WHEVER I FILL UP THE GAS TANK, THE CAR STARTS TO STALL AND JERKS AND STOPS ALL THE WAY. IT DISPLAYS ENGINE LIGHT AND GOES INTO CRUISE MODE. I HAVE TO TURN IT OFF N BACK ON AND STILL JERKS UNTIL THE FUEL IS LITTLE EMPTY. WHEN I DON'T FILL IT FULL THEN IT DOESN'T DO THIS
MY 2007 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN SE CAN BE EASILY SHIFTED INTO GEAR WHILE IN AUXILIARY POWER, AND IT SOMETIMES LOCKS OUT MY BRAKES, AS THERE IS A LOCKED STEERING WHEEL YOU CAN'T STEER IT AND CAN'T TURN IT ON WITHOUT SHIFTING BACK TO PARK WHICH CAN BE DIFFICULT IF THE BRAKES LOCK. A CHILD COULD EASILY SET IT IN GEAR IF YOU ARE RUNNING THE AIR AND YOU LEAVE THE CAR BRIEFLY, I DO NOT HAVE KIDS BUT I DO RUN SOME TAXI WORK IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD. IT COULD BE DONE ANYWHERE AS LONG AS IT'S IN AUXILIARY POWER TO RADIO AND ELECTRICS BUT NOT FULLY ON
AFTER ALMOST EVERY FILL UP VEHICLE STALLS WHEN GOING DOWN ROAD. AFTER RESEARCHING THE PROBLEM I FOUND THE VAPOR/LIQUID SEPARATOR VALVE IS DEFECTIVE. EVIDENTLY THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND A SAFETY ISSUE IN MY OPINION. TO BE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND YOUR VEHICLES SHUT DOWN IS DANGEROUS. WHY DOES THE MANUFACTURER NOT HAVE A RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. WHEN THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO LOCK THE VEHICLE WITH THE POWER LOCK FUNCTION, BOTH REAR SLIDING DOORS SEIZED WITHOUT WARNING AND WOULD NOT REOPEN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 145,000.
AS I WAS DRIVING IN TOWN THE VEHICLE STARTED RUNNING VERY ROUGH, I PULLED OVER INTO A PARKING LOT AND THEN IT WOULDN'T RUN AT ALL. I HAD IT TOWED TO AN AUTO REPAIR PLACE. THEY REPLACED A SENSOR. THAT DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM, SO AFTER A FEW WEEKS THEY FINALLY DIAGNOSED IT AS NEEDING A VALVE JOB. I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE NEW IN 2007 AND HAD IT REGULARLY SERVICED.
BRAKES PEDAL GOING TO THE FLOOR WHEN STOPPING AT INTERSECTION! THIS JUST OCCURRED OR STARTED YESTERDAY! I AM TAKING TO A MECHANIC IN THE MORNING TO EVALUATE.
IF VARIOUS OTHER DESIGN FLAWS WITH OTHER VEHICLE PARTS HAVE BEEN DEEMED WORTHY OF RECALL TO BE REDESIGNED BECAUSE THEY HAVE FAILED TO DO THAT FOR WHICH THEY WERE DESIGNED...THEN I FEEL LIKE DODGE AND CHRYSLER SHOULD RECALL MILLIONS OF MINI VANS THEY HAVE PRODUCED IN EARLY 2000'S THAT HAVE TOTALLY RUSTED OUT LOWER PORTION OF SIDE SLIDING DOORS...TOTAL DESIGN FLAW!!!!! A DESIGN FLAW IS A DESIGN FLAW...MANUFACTURES FAULT. THANKS FOR LISTENING..[XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TT
WHILE DRIVING AT 35 MPH OR LESS FOR LESS THAN 5 MINUTES IN CITY TRAFFIC, MY RIGHT REAR TIRE BLEW OUT. FIRESTONE FR710. PURCHASED 11/30/15
TAKARA RECALL- MY VEHICLE WAS PARKED AT A STORE IN WAS WORKING IN, I WENT OUT TO TAKE A BREAK AND HAD THE SEAT WARMER ON HIGH BECAUSE MY BACK WAS HURTING. I STARTED SMELLING BURNING RUBBER, SO I TURNED IT OFF. UPON EXITING MY VEHICLE THERE WERE TWO HOLES BURNED INTO MY DRIVERS SEAT. I HAD USED THE SEAT WARMER NUMEROUS TIMES PRIOR TO THIS AND HAD NO PROBLEMS. I BELIEVE IF I HADN'T TURNED THE SEAT WARMER OFF MY VAN AND MYSELF PROBABLY WOULD HAVE BEEN ON FIRE.
AFTER FILLING THE FUEL TANK THE VEHICLE STALLS, AND SPUTTERS WHEN PULLING INTO TRAFFIC, AND DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD FOR UP TO 1 MINUTE
WHEN TURNING ON RIGHT TURN SIGNAL IT FLASHES AND SHUTS OFF WHILE THE SWITCH IS STILL ON. WHEN I SIGNAL LEFT IT DOESN'T WORK AT TIMES, ALL THIS HAPPENS WHILE THE VEHICLE IN IN MOTION ON THE ROAD. I TRIED CONTACTING DODGE AND THEY WERE NO HELP. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE AND COULD LEAD ME TO GET PULLED OVER OR IN AN ACCIDENT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE REAR GLASS ABRUPTLY FRACTURED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND UNOCCUPIED. THE CONTACT PURCHASED THE VEHICLE ON MARCH 28, 2018 AT (DON WOOD CHRYSLER, DODGE, JEEP, RAM 58 WEST SECOND STREET LOGAN, OHIO 43138 740-385-5626). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR INSPECTION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 170,732. *TT
VEHICLE LEAKS ON PASSAGENER SIDE.WHEN IT RAINS OR U RUN IT THROUGH THE CAR WASH WATER SOMETIMES RUNS BEHIND THE DASH UNTO THE FLOOR. WE HAVE TRIED TO FIND THE LEAK TO NO AVAIL. CARPET HAS FORMED MILDEW FROM THE LEAK. CANNOT GET THE CO. TO FIX OR TELL US WHERE THE LEAK IS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUSE BOX LOCATED UNDER THE HOOD IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT BECAME OVERHEATED. THE FUSES WERE EXTREMELY HOT AND SMOKING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BACK TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 189,863.
ON OR ABOUT DECEMBER 2017, A 2007 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN WAS TRAVELING NB ON THE INTERSTATE AND WAS HIT FROM THE REAR BY A LARGER VEHICLE. BOTH THE DRIVER AND FRONT PASSENGER WERE WEARING THEIR SEAT BELTS AND TRAVELING 50-55 MPH. AFTER BEING IMPACTED FROM THE REAR, THE VEHICLE SPUN 360 DEGREES. AFTER THE SPIN, THE VAN WAS IMPACTED DIRECTLY HEAD ON, IN THE FRONT, ON THE PASSENGER SIDE, BY A 4 DOOR SEDAN. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY AND BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SEAT BELTS FAILED TO LOCK THE OCCUPANTS TO THEIR SEATS. THIS SAFETY EQUIPMENT FAILURE ALLOWED SIGNIFICANT BODY MOVEMENTS OF BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER. IT CAUSED ABRUPT FORWARD AND BACKWARD MOTION OF THEIR HEADS, NECKS, BACKS, ARMS, LEGS AND TORSOS, RESULTING IN SIGNIFICANT PHYSICAL INJURY AND EMOTIONAL TRAUMA. THE DRIVER ACCOMPANIED THE FRONT PASSENGER TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM. PHYSICAL EXAMINATION AND X-RAY EVALUATIONS WERE PERFORMED BY A MEDICAL SPECIALIST. THE PASSENGER WAS DIAGNOSED WITH UPPER SPINE, HEAD AND NECK INJURIES WITH SIGNIFICANT MUSCLE PAIN AND SEVERE CONCUSSION. THE DRIVER HAD INJURIES TO HIS SHOULDER, NECK, KNEE, TORSO AND BACK AREAS WITH SIGNIFICANT MUSCLE PAIN. SUMMARY, HAD THE SEAT BELTS FUNCTIONED, AS WAS ADVERTISED AND DESIGNED BY THIS MANUFACTURER, BOTH PASSENGERS WOULD NOT HAVE SUSTAINED SUCH SEVERE PHYSICAL INJURIES, AND HAD THE AIR BAGS FUNCTIONED AND DEPLOYED, AS ADVERTISED AND DESIGNED, BY THE MANUFACTURER, THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN INJURED IN THIS IMPACT-COLLISION. HISTORY, THE DODGE GRAND CARAVAN OF PAST YEARS DESIGN INCLUDING THIS 2007 MODEL YEAR HAVE HAD SIMILAR AND REPEATED REPORTS OF SEAT BELT AND AIR BAG FAILURE. CONCLUSION, THIS MANUFACTURER KNEW OR SHOULD HAVE KNOWN OF THESE SAFETY DEFEATS, FROM PAST SETTLEMENT LITIGATION. THIS MANUFACTURER ALLEGEDLY HAS FAILED OR REFUSED TO CORRECT THESE ALLEGED INJURY CAUSING VEHICLE SEAT BELT AND AIR BAG DEFECTS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE GRAN CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR HAD BEEN ILLUMINATING ON AND OFF FOR APPROXIMATELY ONE MONTH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MACDONALD MOTORS AUTO GROUP DEALER IN BRIDGTON, ME THAT DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE AS HAVING OCCUPANT RESTRAIN MODULE FAILURE AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE WARNING INDICATOR KEPT ILLUMINATING. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED AGAIN BY MACDONALD MOTORS AUTO GROUP DEALER AND WAS DIAGNOSED AS A SEAT SENSOR FAILURE. THE CONTACT PURCHASED A USED SEAT FROM A SALVAGE YARD. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE WARNING INDICATOR WAS STILL ILLUMINATING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 113,000.
CAR STALLS AND SOMETIMES DIES AFTER REFUELING. THIS ALWAYS HAPPENS AFTER PULLING ONTO ROAD INTO TRAFFIC. SO FAR I HAVE AVOIDED BEING HIT BY ANOTHER CAR! THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR A LONG TIME. DEALER SAYS REPLACE FUEL TANK,POOR DESIGN.
MY WIFE IS HANDICAPPED. I OWN A LOWERED FLOOR MINIVAN WITH A RAMP FOR WHEELCHAIR ACCESS. VANTAGE MOBILITY INTERNATIONAL ("VMI"), 5202 SOUTH 28TH PLACE, PHOENIX, AZ 85040, (602) 243-2700 DID THE CONVERSION OF MY 2007 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN TO MAKE IT HANDICAPPED ACCESSIBLE ("RAMP VAN"). DODGE/CHRYSLER ("DODGE") WORKS WITH VMI AND A DODGE DEALER IN TEMPE ARIZONA TO SELL RAMP VANS NATIONWIDE THROUGH A DEALER NETWORK. RAMP VANS ARE SOLD THROUGH LOCAL DEALERS WHO PROVIDE BOTH WARRANTY AND NON WARRANTY SERVICE FOR THE CONVERSION ELEMENTS OF THE RAMP VANS. LOCAL DODGE DEALERS PROVIDE NON-CONVERSION WARRANTY AND NON-WARRANTY SERVICE. IT IS NOT UNUSUAL FOR EACH TO POINT THE FINGER AT THE OTHER CONCERNING ELECTRICAL AND MECHANICAL PROBLEMS. THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT AIR BAG DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY. IT ONLY OPERATES INTERMITENTLY. IT HAS BEEN TAKEN TO BOTH VISION DODGE (920 PANORAMA TRAIL SOUTH, ROCHESTER, NY 14625, (585) 385-5700, AND AUTOCRAFTING 72 HINCHEY ROAD, ROCHESTER, NY 14624 ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS FOR REPAIRS TO THE AIRBAG SYSTEM. AUTOCRAFTING REPORTED THAT VMI WAS INVOLVED IN TROUBLESHOOTING THE PROBLEM. BETWEEN VISION DODGE AND AUTOCRAFTING THERE HAVE BEEN 3 OR 4 ATTEMPTS TO FIX THE AIRBAG PROBLEM TO NO AVAIL. VISION DODGE CHARGED ME SUBSTANTIAL COSTS FOR REPAIRS THAT DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. NEITHER DODGE NOR VMI HAS BEEN ABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THE AIR BAG FAILURE AND THE INABILITY OF DODGE AND VMI TO FIX IT INDICATES A MAJOR DESIGN FAILURE IN AN ESSENTIAL AND LEGALLY REQUIRED SAFETY SYSTEM. THE AIRBAG SYSTEM GOES ON AND OFF WHILE BEING DRIVEN ON CITY STREETS AND HIGHWAYS AS REPORTED BY THE VEHICLE'S WARNING LIGHTS. WHOEVER IS DRIVING THE VEHICLE IS AT SERIOUS RISK OF DEATH OR INJURY SHOULD THE VAN BE INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT WITH THE AIRBAG NOT WORKING. OCCURRED 12/2015 AND FROM OCTOBER 2016 TO DATE.
WITHIN MINUTES OF FUELING, THE ENGINE WILL STALL CAUSING A LOSS OF STEERING AND BRAKES.
HEADLIGHTS AND DASH LIGHTS RANDOMLY SHUT OFF WHILE IV AM DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY STRAIGHTAWAY IN THE DARK I MONKEY WITH HEADLIGHT SWITCH AND THE LIGHTS COME BACK ON. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME ABOUT 8 TIMES IN THE LAST YEAR. BUT RECENTLY IT HAS GOTTEN WORSE.
SEAT BELT LIGHT STAYS ON EVEN THOUGH THERE HAVE BEEN NO ACCIDENTS OR BAG DEPLOYMENTS.
CAR STALLS AFTER YOUR FILL THE GAS TANK THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH SEE CASE #66165038FL DOES SOMEONE HAVE TO DIE ? THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN YOUR CAR COULD DIE IN TRAFFIC
THERE HAVE BEEN MANY MECHANICAL ISSUES (ELECTRICAL?) INCLUDING SLIDING DOORS THAT DO NOT WORK ANYMORE (THEY MUST BE CLOSED MANUALLY). BUT THE MAIN PROBLEM I WANT TO REPORT IS RUST. UNDER THE WHEELWELLS, UNDER THE SLIDING DOORS, ON THE BOTTOM OF THE TRUNK HATCH DOORS... IT'S RUSTING APART. FOR A 2007 VEHICLE THIS IS QUITE EXCESSIVE. I'VE ALSO NOTICED THAT OTHER DODGE GRAND CARAVANS OF THE SAME MARINE BLUE GREEN COLOR HAVE THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM. HAS THIS BEEN INVESTIGATED? RUSTING APART... AND IT'S BEEN HAPPENING FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS NOW. YOU WOULD THINK A VEHICLE WOULDN'T START TO HAVE NOTICEABLE AND PERVASIVE RUST IN 7 OR 8 YEARS TO THE POINT WHERE YOU ARE EMBARRASSED TO DRIVE IT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER AIR BAG INDICATORS FLASHED ON AND OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, THE VEHICLE STALLED AFTER BEING FILLED WITH FUEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VAPOR LIQUID SEPARATOR VALVE FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED SIX TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000. ....UPDATED 08/29/16 *BF UPDATED 08/31/16.*JB
STALLING AFTER REFUELING WHEN I FILL UP MY GAS TANK, ALMOST IMMEDIATELY AFTERWARD PULLING OUT OF THE GAS STATION MY VAN SPUTTERS, MISSES, HESITATES, CALL IT WHAT YOU WILL. THE PAST COUPLE OF TIMES THE ENGINE HAS ACTUALLY STALLED AS WELL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A TURN, THE POWER STEERING FAILED AND THE BATTERY AND TEMPERATURE GAUGE LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE TIMING BELT FRACTURED AND THE TIMING CHAIN AND ENGINE COVER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 153,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. WHILE SLOWING DOWN THE VEHICLE TO STOP, THE VEHICLE SHUT DOWN WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE RESTARTED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE RESTARTED AFTER EACH FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,000.
SHORTLY AFTER FUELING VAN IT STALLS STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP AND I LOOSE ALL POWER. THIS HAS HAPPENED A NUMBER OF TIMES INCLUDING BEING ON BUSY ROADWAYS, WHEN I LOOSE FULL CONTROL OF MY VEHICLE. EVERY INCIDENCE HAS ALSO HAPPENED WHEN I HAVE HAD MY THREE CHILDREN IN THE VAN.I HAVE RESEARCHED AND THIS IS A VERY WELL KNOWN PROBLEM. WHY HAS SOMETHING NOT BEEN DONE? DO MY CHILDREN AND I HAVE TO BE KILLED IN AN AUTOMOBILE ACCIDENT.
4/17/2016 WE HAD AN ACCIDENT WHICH TOTALED OUR VAN. THE FRONT WAS DAMAGED AND THE VAN WAS TOTALED HOWEVER THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY EVEN THE WINDSHIELD WAS DAMAGED
AFTER REFUELING THE CAR WILL STALL FOR SHORT PERIOD. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AS IT MAY STALL WHILE PULLING INTO HE ROADWAY. NHTSA WORKED WITH DODGE ON OTHER MODELS TO EXTEND THE WARRANTY TO LIFETIME. MY VEHICLE HAS THE SAME ISSUE AND THE REPAIR IS TO REPLACE THE FUEL TANK AT A COST IN EXCESS OF $700. DODGE SHOULD HAVE REDESIGNED THE FUEL SYSTEM TO CORRECT THIS ISSUE AS THE SAME ISSUE WAS LIFETIME WARRANTIES IN PRIOR YEAR MODELS.
THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED ON AN INCLINED DRIVEWAY. THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OF AND THE KEY WAS NOT IN THE IGNITION. MY DAUGHTER PULLED THE COLUMN SHIFTER WITHOUT PRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE VEHICLE SHIFTED INTO REVERSE AND ROLLED BACKWARDS DOWN THE DRIVEWAY. THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE DOOR WAS OPEN. THE DOOR STRUCK A TREE AND STOPPED THE ROLLING VEHICLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V373000 (AIR BAGS, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM); HOWEVER, THE PART NEEDED TO PERFORM THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
MY STEPDAUGHTER WAS DRIVING MY VAN AFTER WE WERE RETURNING FROM A TRIP TO CALIFORNIA. WE GOT TO HER HOUSE TO DROP HER OFF WHERE SHE PUT THE VAN IN PARK . I THEN WALKED (BEHIND) FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE TO THE DRIVERS SIDE WHILE SHE WENT TO HER MAIL BOX TO GET HER MAIL. I OPENED THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR, THAT'S WHEN THE VAN STARTED ROLLING BACKWARDS DOWN HER DRIVEWAY. I COULDN'T SEE HER SO I SCREAMED HER NAME SO IT DIDN'T RUN OVER HER, SHE WAS DIRECTLY BEHIND THE VAN LOOKING DOWN AT HER MAIL. SHE GOT OUT OF THE WAY IN TIME TO SEE THAT THE VAN DOOR HAD CAUGHT ME, WAS ABLE TO REACH ME, LUCKILY, TO GRAB AND YANK ME FROM BEHIND IT. THEN WE WATCHED AS IT ROLLED DOWN HER DRIVEWAY INTO THE STREET. LUCKILY WHEN IT HIT THE BOTTOM OF HER DRIVEWAY THE WHEELS TURNED OR IT WOULD HAVE GONE DOWN HER STREET AND CROSSED A SIDE ROAD. THE DOOR CAUGHT A LARGE RECYCLE BIN CAUSING FRONT END DAMAGE AND BENT THE DOOR BACKWARDS ENDING UP WITH THE REAR END HITTING A LARGE SNOW BANK WHERE IT CAME TO REST. THIS WAS A FRIGHTENING INCIDENT, ONE OR BOTH OF US COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED! EVEN WORSE OTHERS COULD HAVE BEEN IF THE VAN HAD GONE INTO THE STREET(S). THE VAN WENT INTO NEUTRAL, I PHYSICALLY SAW IT AND HAD TO SHIFT IT INTO DRIVE TO GET IT OFF THE CURB. SINCE THEN, NUMEROUS TIMES, WHEN I HAVE BEEN BACKING UP OR JUST STARTING TO DRIVE, IT WILL POP INTO NEUTRAL. EACH TIME I HAVE TO PUT IT BACK INTO REVERSE OR DRIVE. THIS IS DANGEROUS!!! WHAT IF IT HAPPENS WHEN I AM DRIVING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY OR PULLING OUT ONTO A STREET ETC? MY HUSBAND HEARD A STORY TODAY THAT OTHER CHRYSLER VEHICLES ARE HAVING THE VERY SAME ISSUE. I THINK THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM THAT THEY HAVE HAD FOR MANY MANY . IT NEEDS TO CHANGE. WHO ELSE CAN I COMPLAIN TO? I INFORMED CHRYSLER/DODGE WHEN IT HAPPENED AND HEARD NOTHING BACK.
AFTER FILLING UP THE TANK WITH GAS, THE CAR, ALMOST ALWAYS, STALLS, A FEW MINUTES INTO DRIVING. I'VE BEEN CONCERNED ABOUT THIS, SINCE MY WIFE MOSTLY USES THIS CAR, AND HAS STALLED ON THE HIGHWAY SEVERAL TIMES.I HAVE HAD IT STALL IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY INTERSECTION.OF COURSE, THE POWER STEERING ALSO CUTS OUT WHEN THE ENGINE SHUTS DOWN WHICH COMPOUNDS THE DANGER. WHEN I "GOOGLED" THE WORDS "2007 GRAND CARAVAN STALLS", A VERY LONG LIST OF PEOPLE WITH THE SAME COMPLAINT IMMEDIATELY CAME UP.APPARENTLY, THE SMALL PART CAUSING THIS MALFUNCTION IS PART OF THE ENTIRE GAS TANK AND CANNOT BE REPLACED WITHOUT REPLACING THE ENTIRE GAS TANK. THIS IS A VERY EXPENSIVE REPAIR, AND NOT AFFORDABLE TO MANY. CHRYSLER SHOULD BE RECALLING THESE VEHICLES AND REPAIRING WHAT IS OBVIOUSLY A MAJOR DESIGN FLAW, BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY HURT OR KILLED. THIS IS NOT A DEFECT IN SOME INNOCUOUS INTERIOR PART OF THE CAR, IT AFFECTS THE SAFE OPERATION OF A MOVING VEHICLE!
ENGINE DIES AFTER FILLING UP GAS TANK BECAUSE OF A FAULTY VAPOR/LIQUID SEPARATOR VALVE. AFTER FILLING UP AND DRIVING FOR LESS THAN A 1/4 MILE THE ENGINE WILL STALL IN TRAFFIC SEVERAL TIMES.
ENGINE STALLS POST REFUELING WHILE VEHICLE IN MOTION IN PARKING LOT AND ON ROADWAY INTERIOR READING LIGHTS MELTING AND SMOKING WHEN TURNED ON DOOR LOCK ON RIGHT AND LEFT REAR SLIDING DOOR WILL NOT LOCK OR UNLOCK VIA AUTO DOOR LOCKING/ UNLOCKING BUTTON.
DURING PARK REAR PASSENGER DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN FROM THE INSIDE MANUALLY AND ELECTRONICALLY, SOMEONE FROM THE OUTSIDE HAS TO OPEN THE DOOR. THE UNLOCK MECHANISM IS UP BUT THE DOOR BUTTON FROM THE INSIDE WOULD NOT PUSH DOWN, THEREFORE NOT ALLOWING THE VAN DOOR TO OPEN. THIS IS BIG SAFETY PROBLEM, NO ONE CAN GET OUT MANUALLY AND ELECTRONICALLY FROM THE INSIDE. TOOK IT TO DODGE AND THEY CLAIM IT'S THE WIRE, BUT IT'S NOT BECAUSE THE WIRE IN GREAT CONDITION, BECAUSE IT'S BEEN REPLACE AND STILL HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. IT'S NOT MOTOR BECAUSE ONCE IN A BLUE MOON IT WOULD OPEN PARTIALLY, BUT IT WOULD CLOSED AUTOMATICALLY IMMEDIATELY. I HAVE FILE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS TO DODGE BUT NOTHING WAS DONE. I BELIEVE IT'S ELECTRONIC PROBLEM, WHICH HAS TO DO WITH ECM (ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULAR). PLEASE CONTACT DODGE GRAND CARAVAN TO DILIGENTLY CHECK INTO THIS SAFETY ISSUE. THANK YOU. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. WHILE MAKING A RIGHT TURN AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
EVERY TIME THE FUEL TANK IS FILLED UP, AND AFTER WE START DRIVING, THE ENGINE WILL JUST STALL. IT COULD LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT IF THIS HAPPENS IN TRAFFIC. LUCKILY THIS HASN'T HAPPENED YET. THERE ARE SEVERAL OTHER CASES ON THE INTERNET,FOR EXAMPLE, ON THIS WEBSITE: HTTP://EN.ALLEXPERTS.COM/Q/CHRYSLER-REPAIR-807/F/STALLING-REFUELING.HTM
1ST OCCURRENCE: WHILE DRIVING ON FREEWAY ON A HOT DAY THE CAR STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. ON ATTEMPTED RESTARTS CAR WOULD FIRE FOR A COUPLE OF SECONDS AND QUIT. TRIED OTHER KEY: NO HELP. AFTER ABOUT 7 OR 8 ATTEMPTS THE CAR WOULD NOT CRANK AND SOLENOID CLICKED. TOWED HOME. CAR SET CODES P0339 AND P0344(INTERMITTENT CRANK AND CAM SENSOR). CHARGED BATTERY . REPLACED BOTH SENSORS CAR INITIALLY WOULD NOT START, THEN MYSTERIOUSLY FIRED UP AND RAN FINE. OK FOR ABOUT A MONTH. BATTERY TESTED OK CHARGING VOLTAGE GOOD WHEN RUNNING. NOT RELATED TO HAVING JUST (OVER)FILLED GAS TANK. (MUCH ON INTERNET ABOUT THIS: BAD VALVE IN TANK ALLOWS EVAP TO FLOOD) 2ND OCCURRENCE. ONCE AGAIN DRIVING ON HIGHWAY HOT DAY. ONCE AGAIN STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. SAME SYMPTOMS ON ATTEMPTED RESTART. AFTER WAITING ABOUT 15 MINUTES, CAR RESTARTED, RAN ABOUT 4 MILES AND STALLED AGAIN. ATTEMPTED FOUR OR FIVE RESTARTS, THEN BATTERY APPEARED TO RUN DOWN. HEADLIGHTS WOULD DIM ON START ATTEMPT. AFTER A WHILE THE CAR STARTED AGAIN BUT RAN ROUGHLY ON ACCELERATION. ONCE AGAIN SET SAME CODES. AT THIS POINT I NOTICED SOME ELECTRICAL ANOMALIES. UPON KEY ON, THE TEMP, FUEL, AND TACH GAUGES WOULD PEG HIGH AND THEN FALL BACK TO NORMAL. THE POWER WINDOWS BEGAN TO OPERATE WITHOUT THE KEY ON. TOW TRUCK ARRIVED AND GOT IT HOME. CAR RESTARTED IN GARAGE. REPLACED BOTH SENSORS AGAIN AND BATTERY (SUSPECTED INTERMITTENT OPEN). 3RD OCCURRENCE ON TEST DRIVE GOT ABOUT 5 MILES AND ONTO HIGHWAY. ONCE AGAIN STALLED. THIS TIME RESTARTED, TURNED AROUND AND GOT ABOUT 2 MILES THEN QUIT AGAIN. THIS TIME NO RESTART( SAME 2-3 SECONDS). THIS TIME SET CODE P0344 ONLY(CAM SENSOR INTERMITTENT). CAR RESTARTED LATER BACK IN SHOP. RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET HAS GOT ME THINKING ABOUT THE TIPM (TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE)

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. WHILE DRIVING AT 65 MPH, THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT LATCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE BLADDER PRESSURE SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,000.
I FILLED THE FUEL TANK & THEN PROCEDED TO DRIVE HOME. AFTER LEAVING THE GAS STATION THE VAN STALLED IN TRAFFIC 4 TIMES. THIS HAS HAPPENED EVERY TIME I HAVE FILLED THE GAS TANK SINCE 8/6/2014
VEHICLE STALLS INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING SHORTLY AFTER FILLING UP WITH FUEL. VEHICLE CONTINUES TO STALL PERIODICALLY WITHOUT ANY KNOWN CONSISTENCY. DURING THE STALL, THE ENGINE CUTS OUT AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP. THIS HAS OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES IN THE PARKING LOT AFTER FILLING UP AND WHILE ENTERING THE ROADWAY AFTER FILLING UP. THIS A VERY DANGEROUS AND SERIOUS CONCERN FOR WHEN A LOSS OF POWER OCCURS ON THE ROADWAY SERIOUS AND POTENTIALLY FATAL ACCIDENTS MAY OCCUR. *TR
THE LAST FEW TIMES I HAVE COMPLETELY FILLED UP MY GAS TANK - THE VEHICLE HAS STALLED. I HAVE HAD TO TRIED TO STOP AND RESTART THE IGNITION/ENGINE A NUMBER OF TIMES FOR THE VEHICLE TO RUN. THIS IS HAPPENING WITH FULL GAS FULL-UP AND HAPPENED TO ME AGAIN LAST NIGHT. I HAVE SEEN THIS AS BEING A COMMON PROBLEM FOR CHRYSLER/DODGE MINIVANS IN A FEW ON-LINE FORUMS. SOME REPORTS HAVE THE VEHICLES STALLING ON HIGHWAYS AND/OR WHEN DRIVING. MY VEHICLE IS A 2007 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN SXT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS REFUELED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. IMMEDIATELY AFTER ADDING FUEL TO THE VEHICLE AND RESTARTING THE ENGINE, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000. UPDATED 8/21/15*CN THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE STALLS INTERMITTENTLY, NOT ON EVERY FILL UP. USUALLY, THE STALL WOULD OCCUR AFTER FILL UP AND A FEW MINUTES AFTER LEAVING THE PUMP. UPDATED 10/14/2015*JS
THE ENGINE STALLED TWICE WITHIN 5 MINUTES OF REFUELING. THE VEHICLE WAS FILLED WITH UNLEADED 87 OCTANE GAS TO FULL. THE GAS PUMP AUTO STOPPED WHEN FULL, AND THE TANK WAS NOT TOPPED OFF. THE FIRST STALL HAPPENED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IDLING AT A STOP SIGN APPROXIMATELY 1 MINUTE AFTER FUELING. THE ENGINE RESTARTED, BUT STALLED AGAIN APPROXIMATELY 2 MINUTES LATER. THE SECOND STALL OCCURRED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AT APPROXIMATELY 15-20 MPH AND TURNING LEFT. THE STALL LEFT THE VEHICLE WITHOUT POWER STEERING, AND THE VEHICLE COASTED INTO A DRIVEWAY. THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF LIGHT TRAFFIC. UNDER DIFFERENT CIRCUMSTANCES OR TRAFFIC PATTERNS, A STALLED ENGINE LEAVING A MOVING VEHICLE POWERLESS LIKELY WOULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT RESULTING IN POSSIBLE INJURY OR DEATH. THIS SAME PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED APPROXIMATELY 5-6 TIMES IN THE LAST 2 YEARS, HOWEVER I CAN NOT BE SPECIFIC ON DATES. IT WAS ONLY WHEN MY WIFE AND I WERE TOGETHER THIS LAST TIME THAT WE BOTH COMMENTED ON THE PROBLEM, AND FOUND THAT IT HAS HAPPENED TO EACH OF US SEVERAL TIMES. I BELIEVE ANY MANUFACTURER DEFECT WHICH CAUSES A MOVING VEHICLE TO LOSE POWER AND BECOME UNCONTROLLABLE WHILE IN MOTION IS AN EXTREMELY SERIOUS AND POTENTIALLY DEADLY PROBLEM. *TR
THE VEHICLE STALLS AFTER RE-FUELING. WE RE-FUEL AT DIFFERENT GAS STATIONS (BRANDS) AND THE ISSUE REMAINS. EVERY TIME WE FILL THE TANK AND PULL OUT OF THE GAS STATION INTO TRAFFIC, THE ENGINE SPUTTERS AFTER DRIVING APPROXIMATELY TWO BLOCKS, AS IF IT IS NOT RECEIVING ENOUGH FUEL. THE ENGINE THEN STALLS. THE ENGINE CAN BE RESTARTED AND WILL NOT SPUTTER OR STALL UNTIL THE NEXT TIME WE RE-FUEL IT. WE ENCOUNTER THIS ISSUE WEEKLY, AFTER EVERY FILL UP. IT IS A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS ISSUE BECAUSE THE VEHICLE STALLS IN TRAFFIC AND COULD CAUSE A TRAFFIC ACCIDENT. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 11V139000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,433.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER REFUELING, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 96,000.
NUMEROUS TIMES RIGHT AFTER I FUEL UP, THE VAN SPUTTERS, SHAKES, AND THE ENGINE QUITS. EVEN IF I HOLD THE GAS PEDAL STEADY, IT JERKS AS IF I WAS PRESSING THE PEDAL QUICKLY THEN LETTING GO. WHEN I STOP AT A LIGHT, THE ENGINE DIES COMPLETELY. THIS HAPPENS ALMOST EVERY TIME I FUEL UP. IT HAS NEVER HAPPENED BEYOND 1 DAY AFTER I FUEL UP. IT DOES NOT MATTER WHICH GAS STATION I FILL UP AT, NOR THE QUALITY OF THE FUEL I BUY, THE PROBLEM STILL HAPPENS. ONE TIME THE ENGINE EVEN QUIT WHILE I WAS DRIVING! (USUALLY IT QUITS WHEN I STOP AT A LIGHT OR STOP SIGN.) IT TAKES 2-3 TRIES AND THEN THE ENGINE STARTS AGAIN AND THE VAN SHAKES, JERKS, AND SPUTTERS ONCE AGAIN AS IF IT IS NOT GETTING ENOUGH FUEL.
AFTER FILLING GAS TANK, ENGINE HESITATED AND KILLED. AFTER RESEARCHING, DETERMINED THIS IS A FUEL TANK VALVE ISSUE COMMON TO MINIVANS. NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY, OBVIOUS MANUFACTURE DEFECT. VALVE ALLOWS LIQUID GAS INTO VAPOR SYSTEM. ISSUE STILL EXISTS, TEMPORARY FIX IS TO NOT FILL TANK COMPLETELY WHEN REFUELING. EXPENSIVE REPAIR.
VEHICLE RUNS FINE UNTIL YOU REFUEL AND GET BACK ON THE ROAD THEN IT'S STARTS SPITTING AND SPUTTERING YOU HAVE TO COMPLETELY LET OFF THE GAS TO KEEP FROM STALLING IT OUT. ALSO IT DIES WHEN SITTING ON A HILL WITH LESS THAN A HALF A TANK OF GAS AND WON'T CRANK BACK UNTIL IT'S ON FLAT GROUND. *TR
AFTER REFUELING, VEHICLE STALLED WHEN ACCELERATING FROM STOP LIGHT. WAS ABLE TO IMMEDIATELY RESTART. THIS HAPPENS APPROXIMATELY 50% AFTER REFUELING AND SEEMS TO BE MORE COMMON/PRONOUNCED WHEN MAKING TURNS AT INTERSECTIONS SOON AFTER REFUELING. SEEMS TO BE LESS FREQUENT IF I REMAIN STOPPED, WITH ENGINE OFF, AT THE GAS STATION (E.G. GO INSIDE FOR PURCHASE). VERY AGGRAVATING AND CONCERNED FOR SAFETY IF STALL OCCURS IN HIGH TRAFFIC AREA. *TR
APPROXIMATELY THREE MONTHS AGO, MY 2007 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN STALLED AS I CAME TO A STOP SIGN IN A PARKING LOT. I WAS ABLE TO START RIGHT BACK UP AFTER PUTTING MY VAN IN PARK. BEING UNSURE WHY THIS HAPPENED, I DROVE AROUND THE PARKING LOT A FEW MINUTES BEFORE GETTING ON THE ROAD. IT STALLED ONE MORE TIME, BUT THEN I HAD NO OTHER PROBLEMS AND DROVE HOME. THIS OCCURRED IMMEDIATELY AFTER FILLING MY VAN WITH GAS, BUT I DID NOT ASSOCIATE THE PROBLEM WITH FUELING AT THE TIME. SINCE THAT INCIDENT, THIS HAS BECOME A RECURRING ISSUE OF THE ENGINE STALLING ONLY AFTER FILLING MY TANK. WHEN REFUELING NOW, I DRIVE AROUND NEAR THE GAS STATION TO INSURE THE VAN IS GOING TO RUN. AFTER GETTING GAS, WHEN I SLOW TO COME TO A STOP OR I HAVE STOPPED, THE CAR MAY STALL OUT. I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO RESTART MY VAN BY PUTTING IT IN PARK, STARTING AND PUMPING THE GAS PEDDLE FOR A FEW SECONDS BEFORE PROCEEDING. FORTUNATELY, WHEN MY VAN HAS STALLED, I HAVE NOT BEEN TRYING TO CROSS TRAFFIC OR TRAVELING AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED; HOWEVER, THE POTENTIAL FOR SERIOUS INJURY DOES EXIST. BEFORE TAKING MY CAR TO A DEALERSHIP, I DECIDED TO LOOK ONLINE TO SEE IF ANYONE ELSE HAS ENCOUNTERED THE SAME ISSUE. MY SEARCH FOUND THIS TO BE A COMMON ENOUGH PROBLEM THAT A DEFECT PETITION DP14-002 WAS FILED IN SEPTEMBER 2014 WITH DOI. ACCORDING TO ONLINE RESOURCES, THE REMEDY IS TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE TANK. THE PROBLEM IS THE VAPOR/LIQUID SEPARATOR VALVE LOCATED AT THE TOP OF THE FUEL TANK AND THE VALVE IS NOT SOLD SEPARATELY. THIS APPEARS TO BE A DESIGN FLAW AND I WONDER WHY A RECALL HAS NOT BEEN ISSUED. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER REFUELING AND DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE FUEL FILTER WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.
VEHICLE HESITATED FIRST TIME WHILE GOING 50 MPH AFTER REFUELING - REGULAR GAS. CHECKED THE TACH, WENT TO ALMOST ZERO, THEN BACK UP AGAIN. RODE ROUGH FOR A WHILE. STALLED FIRST TIME AFTER REFUELING W/ REGULAR GAS, @ 35 MPH, ALMOST CAUSING ME TO HIT A CURB - LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. RESTARTED OKAY. STALLED A 2ND TIME AFTER REFUELING AT RED LIGHT, JUST 500 FT FROM GAS STATION. TOOK 2 TIMES TO START IT. WHEN WE FIGURED IT WAS NOT A BAD TANK OF GAS, WE HAD OUR LOCAL MECHANIC CHECK IT, AND WE PAID OVER $200.00 FOR A CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR TO BE REPLACED. BUT WE REFUELED THE VAN SOON AFTER, AND IT STALLED OUT AGAIN. THAT WAS WHEN I DECIDED TO LOOK ONLINE TO SEE IF ANYONE ELSE HAS ENCOUNTERED THE SAME PROBLEM. I WAS AMAZED AT HOW MANY PEOPLE HAD COMPLAINED, AND WERE TOLD IT?S NOT A KNOWN ISSUE. IT SOUNDS TO ME LIKE DODGE/CHRYSLER DOESN'T WANT TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE PROBLEM. I CHECKED ONLINE AND FOUND 40 COMPLAINTS FOR THE SAME ISSUE HERE: HTTP://EN.ALLEXPERTS.COM/Q/CHRYSLER-REPAIR-807/F/STALLING-REFUELING.HTM [DODGE CARAVAN AND/OR CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY STALLING AFTER REFUELING]. THEY ALL CALLED DODGE/CHRYSLER AND WERE TOLD THAT IT WASN'T A KNOWN ISSUE. PLEASE FOLLOW THROUGH ON THIS, AND HAVE DODGE/CHRYSLER RECTIFY IT BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED. HERE IS A PAGE NOT BY DODGE THAT GIVES THE SOLUTION: HTTP://RICKSFREEAUTOREPAIRADVICE.COM/ENGINE-STALLS-AFTER-FILLING-TANK-CHRYSLER-MINIVAN/ THE REMEDY IS TO PAY OVER $700 FOR AN ENTIRE TANK, BECAUSE CHRYSLER DOESN'T SELL THE PART ALONE, WHICH IS THE VAPOR/LIQUID SEPARATOR VALVE. PLEASE HELP! *TR
WHEN IT FIRST BEGAN THE VAN WOULD STALL AND SKIP UPON ACCELERATION BETWEEN 20-50 MPH. NOW THE VAN STALLS AND/OR SKIPS AT ANY POINT OF ACCELERATION. THE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON RIGHT AFTER THERE IS FUEL ADDED TO THE TANK AND THIS IS WHEN THE STALLING IS THE WORSE. THE ENGINE LIGHT ALSO COMES ON WHEN THERE IS1/4 TANK OF GAS LEFT AND THE DISTANCE TO EMPTY NUMBER JUMPS AROUND WHEN THERE IS LESS THAN 1/4 OF A TANK. *TR
2007 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN SXT STOW N GO HAVING SEVERAL ELECTRICAL ISSUES. 1. PASSENGER POWER SLIDING DOOR FAILED, REPLACED POWER DOOR MOTOR, LOCK ACTUATOR, AND REPAIRED WIRING AS THE WIRES ACTUALLY BREAK/SNAP OVERTIME. POOR DESIGN. 2. LESS THAN TWO YEARS LATER PASSENGER POWER SLIDING DOOR HAS FAILED AGAIN, & POWER LOCKS WILL NOT WORK, & I CAN OPEN PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR AFTER LOCKING VEHICLE WITH KEY FOB AND ALARM WON'T SOUND! CANNOT GET MY CHILDREN IN AND OUT OF THIS DOOR WITHOUT REACHING IN AND PULLING UP THE LEVER FROM INSIDE (TOO STIFF, MY DAUGHTER ISN'T STRONG ENOUGH). THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND RESEARCHING IT ONLINE SHOWS THAT IT IS WIDESPREAD. 3. POWER SEAT MOTOR HAS FAILED. WE HAVE STOW N GO SEATING. IN ORDER TO STOW THE 2ND ROW SEAT YOU MUST MOVE FRONT SEAT TO FULL FORWARD POSITION, THEN MOVE DRIVER SEAT BACK......DRIVER SEAT IS ALL THE WAY BACK NOW (FOR MY SPOUSE) AND I CANNOT MOVE IT FORWARD. GEARS ARE BROKEN. I CANNOT REACH THE PEDALS AND MY SEVENTH SEAT IS STOWED! I CANNOT GET MY SEAT BACK. 4. ON PASSENGER SIDE A PART BELOW DASHBOARD (I THINK IS RELATED TO HEATING AND COOLING) FELL OFF. MY FLOOR IS NOW WET EVEN AFTER REATTACHING IT. 5. LIGHT GALORE! MY VEHICLE ROTATES BETWEEN CHECK ENGINE, AND SERVICE TIRE SYSTEM WARNINGS. I'VE HAD IT CHECKED BY SEVERAL MECHANICS AND ALL SAY IT'S ELECTRICAL. *TR
I WAS DRIVING MY VEHICLE AND MY ANTI-LOCK BRAKES SYSTEM RESPONDED TO THE ICE ON THE ROAD AND I PROCEEDED TO PUMP MY BRAKE PEDAL TO SLOW THE VEHICLE DOWN AND THEN I NOTICED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL WOULD GO ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR TO STOP THE VEHICLE SO I GOT HOME AND CHECKED THE BRAKE LINES FOR LEAKS AND DIDN'T FIND ANY AND THAT MY BRAKE RESERVOIR WAS FULL. *TR

AFTER GETTING GAS, WHEN I SLOW TO COME TO A STOP THE CAR STALLS OUT. IT WILL USUALLY START RIGHT BACK UP AND I DON'T HAVE A PROBLEM UNTIL I GET GAS AGAIN. THIS IS A CONCERN AS I AM USUALLY DRIVING MY CHILDREN AROUND AND IT HAPPENED AFTER I PULLED OUT ONTO A BUSY 4 LANE ROAD AND HAD TO SLOW DUE TO AN UPCOMING LIGHT. WE WERE ALMOST HIT BECAUSE THE CARS COMING UP SAW THAT THE LIGHT WAS NOW GREEN. I PUT ON MY BLINKERS AS FAST AS I COULD BUT THAT DID NOT SAVE US FROM NEARLY BEING HIT AS WE WERE SITTING DUCKS. *TR
THE INTERIOR IN THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE WENT OUT. WHEN I TOOK IT OUT TO REPLACE IT, AND IT WAS MELTED ON ONE SIDE. THAT HAPPENED TO ME WITH THE OTHER SIDE OF THE FRONT INTERIOR LIGHTS, AROUND 2011 AND WHEN I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP I WAS TOLD I WOULD HAVE TO BUY THE WHOLE ASSEMBLY AT A COST OF ABOUT $150.00 I THINK. I ASKED THEN IF THERE HAD BEEN A RECALL ON THIS AND WAS TOLD NO. I ASKED WHAT WOULD CAUSE THE LIGHT TO MELT AND HE SAID HE DID NOT KNOW. I LEFT IT AS I STILL HAD THE ONE ON THE DRIVERS SIDE BUT NOW I DO NOT HAVE EITHER AND THERE ISN'T ANY LIGHT IN THE FRONT OF THE CAR WHEN OPENING THE DRIVERS OR FRONT PASSENGER DOOR. PLEASE ADVISE ME IF THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM AND OR WHAT CAN I DO ABOUT IT. *JS
SEVERAL TIMES FOLLOWING A FILL UP, THE VAN HAS STALLED OUT, USUALLY JUST A FEW HUNDRED FEET FROM THE PUMPS. UNFORTUNATELY, THIS USUALLY AS WE ARE PULLING INTO TRAFFIC. FROM WHAT I'VE READ ONLINE, THE ONLY FIX TO THIS PROBLEM IS TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE GAS TANK SYSTEM. *TR
MY WIFE JUST FINISHED REFUELING AND PROCEEDED FROM THE STATION AND TURNED OUT ON THE HIGHWAY. UPON APPROACHING A STOPLIGHT CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. AFTER THE LIGHT TURNED GREED PROCEEDED TO ACCELERATE, AFTER PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO STUMBLE AND THEN STALL. *TR
RIGHT AFTER GAS TANK FILL UP ENGINE STALLS,AND ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WAS ON HIGHWAY ,AND POWER WENT OFF AFTER STALLING WITH LOSS OF CONTROL OF STEERING,AND RAPID DECELERATION WITH NEAR MISS OF BEING REAR ENDED. SOMEONE IS GOING TO BE KILLED,AND ACCORDING TO THE REPORTED INCIDENCES ON THE INTERNET SOMEONE WILL EVENTUALLY BE KILLED OR SEVERELY INJURED. *TR
IN MAY 2014, AT APPROXIMATELY 55MPH, AFTER REFUELING AND DRIVEN 50 MILES. THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. STOPPED VEHICLE AND CHECKED EVERYTHING THAT I COULD CHECK, AS I HAD JUST HAD IT SERVICED APPROX. 300 MILES PRIOR. CONTINUED ON TRIP, AFTER SPENDING NIGHT IN MOTEL, TOOK VEHICLE TO REPAIR FACILITY AND THEY DID DIAGNOSTICS...CAME UP WITH CODE 461, WHICH WAS FUEL LEVER SENSOR IN GAS TANK. CONTINUED ON TRIP, (1300 MILES), AFTER THAT TWO TIMES WHEN I HAD FILLED UP WITH GAS AGAIN THE VEHICLE DIED WITHIN 2 MILES...NO ENGINE LIGHT EVER CAME BACK ON. THIS CONTINUED THROUGHOUT THE SUMMER, OCCURRING 80% OF THE TIME I REFUELED...TOOK TO DEALER AS I HAVE EXTENDED WARRANTY, THEY ARE LOOKING INTO IT, BUT SAID BECAUSE THE ENGINE LIGHT DOESN'T COME BACK ON, THEY CAN'T EVALUATE IT. READ SOMEWHERE SINCE I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER, THAT IF I DON'T FILL THE TANK UP FULLY, THAT WILL CURE THE PROBLEM? THE ENGINE DYING HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING LESS THAN 20MPH, SO FAR...COULD BE A PROBLEM PULLING OUT IN TRAFFIC? THIS IS NOW OCTOBER, STILL EXPERIENCING PROBLEM. *TR
VEHICLE SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING ON INTERSTATE AT 48MPH AND INCREASING. FIRST ALL DIALS DROPPED TO 0, BRAKES WOULD NOT WORK, WHEN PRESSING ACCELERATOR ENGINE WOULD REV UP BUT NO POWER - THEN THIS STOPPED ALSO. TURNED KEY TO OFF POSITION AND WAITED A FEW MINUTES, THEN TURNED CAR BACK ON AND ALL SEEMED WELL. THIS WAS VERY SCARY WITH CARS & TRUCKS WHIPPING BY AT 50 PLUS MPH! *TR
AFTER FUELING THE VEHICLE, PULLING OUT FROM THE GAS STATION, THE VAN STALLS VIOLENTLY: LOSES POWER, LURCHES & SURGES. THIS HAS BECOME INCREASINGLY SEVERE, MOST RECENTLY NEARLY CAUSING A COLLISION WHEN THE VAN STALLED OUT AS WE WERE LEAVING THE GAS STATION IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. THE PROBLEM IS THE VAPOR/LIQUID SEPARATOR VALVE LOCATED AT THE TOP OF THE FUEL TANK. THE VALVE IS DESIGNED TO PREVENT LIQUID FUEL FROM ENTERING THE CHARCOAL CANISTER/EMISSIONS SYSTEM. WHEN THE VALVE FAILS, LIQUID GAS CAN ENTER THE LINE AND FILL THE CHARCOAL CANISTER. AFTER REFUELING THE PCM ON THE VEHICLE DETECTS A CHANGE IN FUEL LEVEL. THEN, WHEN THE ENGINE MEETS CERTAIN TEMPERATURE AND DRIVING CRITERIA, THE PCM ISSUES A PURGE COMMAND TO THE CHARCOAL CANISTER TO REMOVE THE STORED GAS VAPORS. IT?S AT THAT POINT THAT ALL THE LIQUID GAS IN THE LINE GETS SUCKED INTO THE CHARCOAL CANISTER. THE PCM EXPECTS TO SEE GAS VAPORS ENTERING THE INTAKE MANIFOLD AND IT IS PREPARED TO ADJUST AIR/FUEL MIXTURES TO COMPENSATE. HOWEVER, IT IS NOT PREPARED TO SEE LIQUID GAS COMING INTO THE INTAKE. THAT?S WHAT CAUSES THE ENGINE TO STALL. UNFORTUNATELY, THE ONLY FIX IS TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE GAS TANK. CHRYSLER DOES NOT SELL THE VAPOR/LIQUID VALVE AS A SEPARATE UNIT. WE ARE NOW AT NEARLY 100,000 MILES, AND THE PROBLEM PERSISTS AND CONTINUES TO GET MORE SEVERE. I HAVE CALLED DODGE, BUT THEY SAY THERE IS NO EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THE FUEL TANK/EVAPORATION CANISTER. *TR
ON APPROXIMATELY 04/07/2014 THE VAN WAS FILLED UP WITH GAS, I TOOK THE NOZZLE OUT WHEN IT SHUT OFF AND DID NOT PUT ANY EXTRA GAS INTO TANK. I STARTED UP THE VAN TO EXIT THE STATION WE DROVE ABOUT 100 YARDS AND THE VAN JERKED WITH A KNOCKING SOUND TWICE AND STALLED. I STARTED THE VAN BACK UP, WHEN IT DID START THE IDLE WAS ROUGH AND LOW. I HELD MY FOOT ON THE GAS PEDDLE TO SLIGHTLY RAISE THE RPM'S FOR ABOUT 30 SECONDS BEFORE WE PROCEEDED. IT TOOK A COUPLE OF MILES BEFORE THE VAN SEEMED TO BE ABOUT NORMAL. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWO OTHER TIMES SINCE THEN. ANOTHER COMPLAINT, THE FRONT BRAKES SQUEAK EVERY TIME YOU APPLY THEM. *TR

WHEN I FILL UP MY VAN, THE VEHICLE WILL START HOWEVER AFTER A FEW MINUTES AND I AM ON THE HIGHWAY THE CAR COMPLETELY SHUTS OFF. HAVE HAD TO SEVERAL MECHANICS LOOK AT THE VAN, AND NO ONE KNOWS WHAT THE ISSUE IS. I TRY TO RIDE AROUND THE GAS STATION PARKING LOT TO INSURE THE VAN IS GOING TO RUN BECAUSE I HAVE HAD SEVERAL CLOSE CALLS WHEN THE VEHICLE SHUTS DOWN WHEN I AM TRYING TO CROSS TRAFFIC. I WILL THEN HAVE NO BRAKES, POWER STEERING, ETC. THE VAN SHUTS COMPLETELY OFF. I USUALLY ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THIS IS A VERY UNSAFE ISSUE. *TR
FREQUENTLY AFTER FILLING UP WITH GAS AT COSTCO, THE VAN STALLS, ESPECIALLY WHILE I AM GOING AROUND A TURN. IT HAS COME CLOSE TO CAUSING AN ACCIDENT BUT I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO PUT IT IN NEUTRAL AND GET IT STARTED QUICKLY ENOUGH TO AVOID GETTING REAR-ENDED. VERY STRANGE AND ANNOYING. *TR
THIS IS A DEFECT PETITION FILED PURSUANT TO 49 U.S.C. 30162. OUR 2007 GRAND CARAVAN SXT HAS ABOUT 44,000 MILES ON IT AND IT HAS BEGUN STALLING AFTER REFUELING. THIS ONLY HAPPENS WHEN THE FUEL TANK IS REFUELED TO FULL CAPACITY. THE PROBLEM STARTED ABOUT A MONTH AGO. TODAY, MY WIFE (WITH KIDS IN CAR) STALLED ON THE HIGHWAY. THE DANGER WAS THAT SHE WAS ON A TURN AND THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME IMPOSSIBLE FOR HER TO TURN IT. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE, AND MY HOPE IS THAT CHRYSLER MAKES GOOD ON A DEFECTIVE PART. (I SEE THEY DID THAT AFTER A GOV'T INVESTIGATION OF A SIMILAR NATURE FOR OTHER CARS...AFTER AN INVESTIGATION BY NHTSA!) ***THIS IS A WIDESPREAD ISSUE FOR VEHICLES FROM 2004 TO 2013. I HAVE A 2007 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. WHILE NOT A GM VEHICLE, I HAVE EXPERIENCE THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE IGNITION AS HAS BEEN REPORTED ON THE GM VEHICLES. I HAVE HAD SEVEN INCIDENTS. THE ISSUES INVOLVES VEHICLE LOSING ALL POWER. ALL GAUGES WILL DROP TO ZERO AND STEERING WILL BE LOST. I HAVE HAD TO SWITCH THE VEHICLE OVER TO NEUTRAL AND PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. UPON SHUTTING OFF THE VEHICLE AND RESTARTING, THE VEHICLE STARTS FINE. AFTER HEARING ABOUT THE GM RECALL, I TOOK ALL EXCESS KEYS OFF OF MY KEY CHAIN. I HAVE NOT ENCOUNTERED THE PROBLEM SINCE. HOWEVER, THIS IS VERY CONCERNING TO ME. AT ONE TIME, I WAS TURNING AROUND A CIRCULAR MONUMENT AND ALMOST COULD NOT MAKE IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD IN NEUTRAL. I FEAR THAT THIS IGNITION ISSUE IS AFFECTING MORE VEHICLES THAN JUST GMS. *TR
JUST BOUGHT A 2007 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN AND REALIZED THE FRONT READING LIGHTS WERE NOT WORKING. I TOOK OF THE PLASTIC COVERS IN AN ATTEMPT TO CHANGE THEM AND OBSERVED THAT THE BULB HAD COMPLETELY MELTED THE PLASTIC AND BURNT PART OF THE CASING. IT APPEARS AS THOUGH THE PLASTIC HOUSING WAS VERY CLOSE TO, OR HAD ALREADY, CAUGHT ON FIRE. I AM WORRIED THAT IF WE PUT A NEW LIGHT BULB IN THE SAME HOUSING IT WILL LIKELY CATCH THE WHOLE VAN ON FIRE. THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY BEING PARAMOUNT, I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DOING SO. AFTER REVIEWING THIS PROBLEM ONLINE, I FOUND NUMEROUS OTHER GRAND CARAVAN OWNERS CLAIMING TO HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE FIXED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT, OR EVEN WORSE, KILLED. *TR
THE TPMS FAILED. THE VALVE STEM CRACKED OFF WHEN ADDING AIR. AIR WAS BEING ADDED BECAUSE THE VALVE STEM WAS LEAKING, AND THE TIRE WAS NEAR FLAT, AND I WANTED TO TAKE IT TO A REPAIR SHOP. THIS IS THE SECOND TPMS VALVE FAILURE I HAVE HAD. FORTUNATELY, BOTH OCCURRED AT A STANDSTILL. I SEE TALES ON THE INTERNET OF FAILURE AT HIGH SPEED, FOLLOWED BY VARY RAPID DECOMPRESSION AND TIRE FAILURE. EXPENSIVE, IF NOT UNSAFE. IN MY OWN CASE, WITH OVER 50 YEARS DRIVING EXPERIENCE AND 2 YEARS AS A MECHANIC, I HAVE NEVER SEEN A VALVE STEM FAILURE BEFORE. NOW, I HAVE TWO. EXPERT MECHANICS ARE ADVISING TO REPLACE THEM WITH STANDARD VALVES, AND I WILL. FROM AN ECONOMIC VIEW, THE SEVERAL FAILURES OF THE STEMS, AND STEM FAILURES, HAVE COST ME ABOUT 6 CENTS PER MILE. GAS HAS COST ME ABOUT 18 CENTS PER MILE (AT TODAYS COST). THUS, THE TPMS SYSTEM MAINTENANCE IS ABOUT 1/3 OF THE GAS COST. I DOUBT VERY SERIOUSLY THAT THE TPMS SYSTEM SAVES THAT MUCH IN GASOLINE USE. BUT FROM A SAFETY PERSPECTIVE, I AM NOT WILLING TO RISK SUDDEN DEPRESSURIZATION FOLLOWED BY TIRE DESTRUCTION AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THUS, I WILL BE PULLING THOSE OUT BEFORE MY NEXT HIGHWAY TRIP. AFTER TALKING WITH SEVERAL MECHANICS, LOOKING AT THE DESIGNS, AND LOOKING AT EXPERIENCES OF OTHERS, I CONCLUDE THAT TPMS IS A GOOD IDEA WITH A BAD EXECUTION. IF THEY ARE NOT (NEARLY AS SECURE) AS OLDER VALVE STEMS, THEY SHOULD BE DE-MANDATED. FINALLY, I NOTE THAT AT LEAST SOME OF THESE HAVE MERCURY IN THE PACKAGE AS A ROTARY SWITCH. AS MUCH AS WE ARE SPENDING TO REMOVE MERCURY FROM THE ENVIRONMENT . . . *TR
VEHICLE STALLS IMMEDIATELY AFTER FILLING GAS TANK COMPLETELY. I LET PUMP TURN OFF AUTOMATICALLY AND DO NOT OVERFILL. HAS HAPPENED REPEATEDLY IN TRAFFIC AND IS DANGEROUS. AFTER A FEW MILES, NO MORE STALLING OR SPUTTERING. LOTS OF REPORTS OF THIS PROBLEM WITH DODGE/CHRYSLER VEHICLES ONLINE BUT COMPANY CLAIMS NO KNOWLEDGE OF PROBLEM. FIX IS TO REPLACE FUEL TANK AND ATTACHED PARTS. *TR
I JUST COMPLETED FILLING UP MY VEHICLE WITH REGULAR GASOLINE. ABOUT 100 YARDS FROM THE FILLING STATION, MY VAN STUTTERED AND STALLED. IT DOES THIS EVERY TIME I FILL IT UP. RECURRING ISSUE OF ENGINE STALLING AFTER REFUELING. USUALLY WITHIN 5 MINUTES OF FILLING, AND WHEN DRIVING SLOWLY. INTERNET SEARCH INDICATES THIS IS A RAMPANT PROBLEM, NOT ONLY WITH CARAVANS, BUT WITH OTHER CHRYSLER/DODGE VEHICLES. APPARENTLY THE ENTIRE GAS TANK REQUIRES REPLACEMENT, WHICH INDICATES TO ME IT IS A DESIGN FLAW AND SHOULD BE RECALLED. *TR
DEAR SIR/MADAM: MY 2007 DODGE MINIVAN MANUFACTURED BY CHRYSLER HAS A DEFECTIVE ENGINE. THE 3.8L ENGINE BURNS OIL AND OIL CONSUMPTION TESTS DONE PROVED THE SAME. I WAS MADE AWARE OF THIS ISSUE BY MECHANICS OUTSIDE OF DEALERSHIP SERVICE WHICH WHEN NOTIFIED BACK, RELUCTANTLY ACCEPTED THE ISSUE AND WENT ON TO STATE THAT I HAD TO PAY TO FIX THE PROBLEM RELATED TO WORN OUT PISTON RINGS. REPAIRS OF THIS NATURE ARE EXPENSIVE AND ON BRIEF RESEARCH ON INTERNET, OTHER CUSTOMERS HAVE EXPERIENCES THE SAME PROBLEMS. WHEN VEHICLE WAS UNDER WARRANTY, I ENCOUNTERED MANY ENGINE RELATED SYMPTOMS LIKE SLUGGISH PERFORMANCE, ENGINE WHINING OR HISSING NOISE AND SUCH. IT'S MY BELIEF THAT CHRYSLER SERVICE FAILED TO DO NECESSARY TESTS TO DETECT THIS ISSUE. *TR
MY 2007 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN WAS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY AND MY 4 YR OLD WAS ABLE TO SHIFT THE VAN OUT OF PARK INTO NEUTRAL WITHOUT DEPRESSING THE BRAKE OR STARTING THE VEHICLE. THE VAN COASTED DOWN THE DRIVEWAY, ACROSS THE STREET AND CAME TO REST IN THE NEIGHBOR'S YARD ALL THE WHILE WITH MY 4 YR OLD IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT. I WOULD ESTIMATE THE VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING UP TO 10MPH DOWN THE SLOPED DRIVEWAY. NO INJURY OR DAMAGE LUCKILY OCCURRED. SUBSEQUENTLY, THE DODGE DEALERSHIP STATES THE SHIFT INTERLOCK SOLENOID FAILED. THE DEALERSHIP WILL NOT COVER UNDER WARRANTY. I BELIEVE THIS SHOULD BE CONSIDERED A RECALL ISSUE SINCE THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AND HAS BEEN THE PREVIOUS SUBJECT OF NHTSA INTERVENTION WITH THE AUTOMAKERS. *TR
FOUR SEPARATE INSTANCES OF AN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION OCCURRED WITHIN 5 MINUTES WHILE TRAVELING AT LOW SPEEDS (5 - 15 MPH). EACH OF THESE INSTANCES IS DESCRIBED BELOW: 1. WHILE TURNING RIGHT OUT OF A GAS STATION AT ABOUT 5-10 MPH, THE CAR LURCHED FORWARD AND THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM SEEMED TO FAIL (I.E., THE CAR WAS STEERING RIGHT AND IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO KEEP FROM CONTINUING RIGHT INTO A CURB). THE BRAKES WORKED FINE AND PREVENTED A COLLISION WITH THE CURB. I HEADED FOR A FRIEND'S HOUSE LOCATED NEARBY. 2. APPROXIMATELY 500 - 1000 FEET LATER, WHILE TURNING LEFT AT 15 MPH ONTO A SIDE STREET, THERE WAS ANOTHER UNINTENDED ACCELERATION AND THE STEERING WHEEL WAS 'LOCKED' LEFT (I.E., THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM AGAIN SEEMED TO FAIL). THE BRAKES ON AND THE CAR COLLIDED WITH THE CURB AT A LOW SPEED (1-3 MPH). HAD TRAFFIC BEEN COMING DOWN THE ROAD, A CAR HEADING TOWARD ME WOULD HAVE HIT THE SIDE OF MY CAR. 3. APPROXIMATELY 500 FEET DOWN THAT STREET, WHILE TURNING LEFT ONTO ANOTHER SIDE STREET, THE ENGINE REVVED AGAIN FOR A SECOND, AND RETURNED TO NORMAL. THE STEERING AND BRAKES WERE NOT ADVERSELY AFFECTED. 4. I PROCEEDED SLOWLY DOWN THAT STREET FOR A DISTANCE OF ABOUT 200 FEET AND WAS SLOWING DOWN TO PARK ALONG THE RIGHT HAND SIDE OF THE STREET. WHILE GOING ONLY ABOUT 2 MPH, THE CAR REVVED HARD AGAIN, AND LURCHED FORWARD ABOUT 3 FEET UNTIL I COULD STOP THE CAR. I STAYED AT THE FRIEND'S HOUSE FOR 3 HOURS. 5. A SERVICE STATION WAS NEARBY AND I DROVE SLOWLY TOWARD IT. THE CAR MADE A TOTAL OF 3 RIGHT TURNS AND 2 LEFT TURNS WITHOUT INCIDENT. HOWEVER, WHEN JUST STARTING TO MAKE A 4TH RIGHT TURN, THE ENGINE REVVED AND THE POWER STEERING SEEMED TO FAIL AGAIN. I STOPPED THE CAR AND TURNED OFF THE IGNITION. I PROCEEDED A HALF MILE TO THE REPAIR STATION (WITH 3 LEFT TURNS AND 1 RIGHT TURN), WITHOUT INCIDENT. *TR
THIS ISSUE HAS OCCURRED AROUND 20 TIMES SINCE PURCHASE OF THE VEHICLE. WHILE DRIVING THE VAN AND STOPPING IN TRAFFIC (TRANSMISSION IN DRIVE), WHEN PUSHING THE GAS PEDAL (FOOT OFF THE BRAKE) THE RPM GAUGE WILL RESPOND BUT THE VAN WILL NOT MOVE. THE VAN BEHAVES LIKE THE TRANSMISSION IS IN PARK DESPITE THE TRANSMISSION BEING IN DRIVE. IN ORDER FOR THE VAN TO MOVE AGAIN YOU MUST PUT THE VAN IN PARK AND THEN BACK TO DRIVE. AT THIS POINT THE TRANSMISSION WORKS AS IT SHOULD. AT LEAST TWICE I HAVE HAD TO TURN THE VAN OFF AND BACK ON BEFORE THE TRANSMISSION WOULD WORK CORRECTLY. HAVE TAKEN TO DEALER BUT THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE AND THERE WERE NO CODES TO PULL. I FEEL THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AS IT COULD LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT WAS ENTERING THE VEHICLE WHEN THE DOME LIGHT FAILED TO ILLUMINATE. THE DEALER CONFIRMED THE DOME LIGHT SOCKET WAS MELTING AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 78,000.
AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND TOOK IT TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FRONT IMPACT SENSORS WENT BAD BECAUSE THE WIRE HARNESS CORRODED AND CAUSED THE OPEN CIRCUIT, CAUSING THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT TO COME ON CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE COMPONENTS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW FELL INTO THE DOOR PANEL ABNORMALLY. THE DEALER DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHO WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE AND ADVISED HER TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. NO REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 72,000.

AFTER FILLING UP THE FUEL TANK, THE CAR DIES WHILE DRIVING A FEW MINUTES LATER. DEALERSHIP SAID THE FUEL TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND CHARGED ME $766.55. THE CALLED IT A NON SERVICEABLE CHECK VALVE IN THE FUEL TANK WHICH ALLOWS LIQUID FUEL INTO EVAPORATE LINE AFTER REACHING A CERTAIN LEVEL. ONCE THE VEHICLE IS STARTED THE PCM PURGES THE EVAPORATE SYSTEM TO BURN THE VAPORS AND EXPOSURE THE CATALYST WARM UP SYSTEM. AT THIS TIME THE LIQUID FUEL IN THE EVAPORATE LINE IS SUCKED INTO THE ENGINE INTAKE MANIFOLD AND CAUSES THE ENGINE TO STALL. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE THE CAR COULD BE ON THE ROAD. WHEN IT STALLS IT COULD EASILY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. CHRYSLER SHOULD FIX THIS BEFORE PEOPLE ARE INJURED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STARTED THE IGNITION AND THE AIR CONDITIONER FAILED TO OPERATE WHEN ACTIVATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO STATED THAT THE AIR CONDITIONER WAS LEAKING COOLANT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THERE WAS A RECALL RELATED TO THE FAILURE ON THE 2008 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER WAS 10V611000 (EQUIPMENT: ELECTRICAL: AIR CONDITIONER). THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A LEAK IN THE AIR CONDITIONER WHICH COULD CAUSE THE AIR BAG TO DEPLOY WITHOUT WARNING. THE DEALER NOR MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHO INSERTED RED DYE WITH FREON THAT WOULD IDENTIFY AND PLUG THE LEAK. THE MECHANIC ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE REMEDY MAY OR MAY NOT CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 83,000. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 77,000.
I TURNED THE IGNITION ON, PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE AND BACKED OUT OF A PARKING SPACE. I PUSHED ON THE BRAKES AND PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE. THE CAR BEGAN MOVING FORWARD FOR ABOUT 10 SECONDS AND THEN IT LOST ALL POWER WITH NO WARNING, JUST STALLED. THE CAR'S HEAT SENSOR GAUGE WAS NORMAL JUST BELOW HALFWAY AND I HAD A HALF TANK OF GAS. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT. IT DIDN'T FEEL LIKE THE BRAKES WERE WORKING EITHER. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND THEN STARTED IT UP AGAIN WITH NO PROBLEMS. IT DROVE TO MY DESTINATION WITHOUT ANY FURTHER PROBLEMS.
MY 2007 GRAND CARAVAN IS BURNING OIL. CURRENTLY GOING THROUGH OIL CONSUMPTION TEST WITH DEALER. CAR IS BURNING APPROX. 1 QT. OF OIL EVERY 1000 MILES. CHRYSLER SAID IT IS WITHIN ACCEPTABLE LEVELS OF USAGE.CAR ONLY HAS 44,000 MILES.NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO CORRECT THIS OBVIOUS DEFECT,EVEN THOUGH I BOUGHT AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FROM CHRYSLER. *TR
REAR EVAPORATOR LEAK -AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM DOES NOT WORK- EVAPORATOR AND ALUMINUM HOSES ARE 6" FROM REAR TIRE - THE EVAPORATOR WILL BE DAMAGED AND/OR CORRODE/OXIDIZE AT SOME POINT AND LEAK - IT WILL COST BETWEEN $800 - $1500 TO REPAIR FOR AN OBVIOUS DESIGN PROBLEM - IF IT HASN'T LEAKED YET IT WILL FROM THE ON-LINE COMPLAINTS THAT I'VE SEEN. *TR
AROUND JANUARY 2011, I NOTICED A RUBBING NOISE AFTER BEING PART OF A FUNERAL PRECESSION. THE NOISE WOULD COME AND GO. THERE WERE ALSO A LITTLE SHAKING LIKE A POTHOLE WHEN NOTHING WAS THERE AND I ASSUMED IT WAS THE ROAD BUT I COULDN'T SEE IT. I WAS NOT COMFORTABLE WITH THE NOISE AND NEEDED TO TRAVEL SO I TOOK IT A SHOP. ON FEBRUARY 23RD I WAS TOLD I HAD A LOW LEVEL BRAKE PAD AND TO RETURN IN 6 TO 8 WEEKS. MY FRONT BRAKES WERE DONE AT 40,000 MILES AND THE REAR WERE DONE OCTOBER 2010. THE VEHICLE WAS NEAR 60,000 MILES ON THIS CHECK-UP. I WAS STILL NOT COMFORTABLE AND WAS GOING TO RETURN IN EARLY MARCH, WHEN I GOT PAID. I WENT TO APPLY MY BRAKES GOING TO WORK...THEY DIDN'T WORK CORRECTLY...I HIT TWO CARS (TOTALED MY CAR AND MIDDLE CAR). MY BRAKES FAILED AT OVER 60,000. MY LOWER LEGS STILL HURT OVER 2 MONTHS AFTER THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. *TR
PARKED FACING DOWNHILL WITH VEHICLE IN PARK AND PARKING BRAKE ON. CAR WOULD NOT CHANGE GEAR USING COLUMN LEVER. GOT OUT OF VEHICLE TO CHECK UNDER HOOD FOR A PROBLEM. NOTICE CABLE DISCONNECTED FROM LEVER ON TRANSMISSION. WHEN I WAS ABOUT TO REACH IN TO GET THE CABLE, THE VEHICLE POPPED OUT OF GEAR AND ROLLED DOWN HILL, THE HOOD SLAMMED MY ARM TRAPPING IT AS THE VEHICLE ROLLED DOWNHILL. I BECAME TRAPPED BETWEEN ANOTHER CAR AS IT PUSHED ME 20 FEET DOWNHILL. ANOTHER PASSER BY WAS ABLE TO GET IN THE VEHICLE AND PUT THE BRAKE WHILE I PRIED MY ARM OUT CAUSING NERVE DAMAGE. THE HOOD WOULD NOT RELEASE WHILE MY ARM WAS STUCK. *TR
2007 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN HAD BEEN PARKED FOR 6 DAYS WHILE WE WERE AWAY ON VACATION. RETURNED TO AIRPORT AND DROVE VEHICLE HOME (30 MILES). NEXT MORNING DROVE VEHICLE INTO TOWN (15 MILES) WITH NO PROBLEMS. PARKED FOR 1 HOUR THEN WENT TO RETURN HOME. WITHIN A FEW MILES THE VEHICLE MOVED ITSELF INTO A NEUTRAL STATE (DISPLAY SHOWED "D" STILL) WHILE MOVING DOWN THE ROAD. THIS WAS IMMEDIATELY MADE AWARE AS THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SLOW AND THE ENGINE QUICKLY REVVED HIGH. WAS BARELY ABLE TO COAST SAFELY INTO A PARKING AREA. TURNED VEHICLE OFF FOR 5 MINUTES, THEN RESTARTED AND IT DROVE THE REST OF THE WAY HOME. ISSUE IS THAT THE VEHICLE MOVED ITSELF INTO NEUTRAL WITHOUT REASON AND ALSO DID NOT UPDATE DISPLAY. WE LIVE IN MICHIGAN AND TEMPERATURE HAS BEEN 35 DEGREES OR LESS RECENTLY. *TR
I HAVE HAD THE 2007 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN SINCE 2007. THIS WINTER, WHEN TEMPERATURES ARE AROUND 33 AND BELOW, IT SLIPS OUT OF DRIVE IN TO A NEUTRAL STATE. THE GEAR ON THE DASH DOES NOT MOVE SO IT APPEARS TO STILL BE IN DRIVE. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING MY CHILDREN TO SCHOOL, IT "GOES NEUTRAL" WHILE THE VEHICLE IS STILL MOVING. IT SLOWS DOWN AND I CAN BRAKE BUT THE ACCELERATION WILL NOT WORK. SUDDENLY IT WILL "POP" BACK INTO DRIVE. THIS ALL HAPPENS WITH BOTH OF MY HANDS ON THE STEERING WHEEL. IT DOES THIS ALL ON ITS OWN AND IT IS VERY SCARY, ESPECIALLY WITH MY KIDS IN THE CAR. THE ONLY THING THAT HELPS IS TO RUN THE VEHICLE AT LEAST 10 MINUTES IN COLD WEATHER PRIOR TO PUTTING IT IN DRIVE. *TR

I BROUGHT MY 2007 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN TO A DEALERSHIP FOR AN INSPECTION. FRONT AND REAR BRAKES WERE REPLACED AND AN EGR VALVE WAS REPLACED IN ORDER FOR IT TO PASS INSPECTION. BEFORE THE REPAIRS WERE DONE I WAS GETTING APPROXIMATELY 20 MILES TO THE GALLON. THIS ALSO SHOWED UP ON THE INTERIOR ELECTRONIC INFORMATION CENTER. AFTER THE REPAIRS WERE DONE, MY INTERIOR ELECTRONIC INFO CENTER INDICATED I WAS GETTING APPROXIMATELY 10 MILES TO THE GALLON. I CONFIRMED THIS BY THE "OLD FASHION WAY" OF FILLING THE TANK AND DRIVING THEN FILLING IT AGAIN AND DIVIDING THE MILES BY THE NUMBER OF GALLONS. THIS CONFIRMED THAT I WAS GETTING APROX 10 MILES PER GALLON. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND TO THIS DATE HAVE HAD NO RESPONSE. I'M ALSO CONTINUING TO KEEP TRACK OF THE MILEAGE AND AMOUNT OF FUEL I'M USING. THE SAME THING HAPPENED WITH MY WIFE'S DODGE JOURNEY. THE WEB SITE, WWW.FUELECONOMY.GOV SHOWS THAT I SHOULD BE GETTING APROX 20 MILES PER GALLON EVEN WITH THE NEW 10% ALCOHOL ADDITION AND THESE WERE THE APROX EPA STANDARDS WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS SOLD. I AM CONTINUING MY RESEARCH IN THIS MATTER TO BRING IT TO MY SATISFACTION. *TR
WE HAVE A 2007 DODGE CARAVAN SXT. ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASION, I WAS AT AN INTERSECTION, WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKES WAITING FOR THE LIGHT TO CHANGE, AND THEN THE IDLING OF THE RPM STARTED TO CLIMB VERY HIGH, AND THE VAN STARTED TO VIBRATE, THEN WHEN THE LIGHT CHANGED MY ACCELERATOR PEDAL WOULD NOT ENGAGE, IT WAS STUCK FOR A GOOD 5 MINUTES. AFTER WHICH I KEPT PRESSING THE PEDAL, AND THEN IT FINALLY LOOSEN, I HEARD A SOMETHING POPPING LOOSE WHEN IT HAPPENED AND THEN THE ACCELERATOR ZOOMED SO FAST WHEN DEPRESSED. THE SECOND TIME IT HAPPENED, SAME THING HAPPENED AND THEN IT GOT STUCK AGAIN. THE DEALER SERVICE CENTER, SAID THAT THEY COULD NOT LOCATE THE PROBLEM. HAS ANYONE ELSE ENCOUNTERED THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM. I KNOW THAT WHEN I DESCENDING A STEEP HILL, I CAN FEEL ALOT OF VIBRATION ON MY BRAKES. ALSO MY SIDE DOORS DOES NOT OPEN WITH THE HANDLE OR THE KEY REMOTE, OR OVERHEAD REMOTE. YOU NEED TO PLAY AROUND WITH THE DOOR HANDLE ON THE OUTSIDE FOR AWHILE BEFORE YOU CAN GET IT OPENED. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WHENEVER THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN FOR MORE THAN ONE OR TWO HOURS. THE VEHICLE ALSO BEGAN TO LOSE POWER. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE CODE IDENTIFIED THE FAILURE AS EMISSIONS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE EMISSIONS WAS RELATED TO THE ERG VALVE FAILING WHICH CAUSED OIL TO ENTER INTO THE ENGINE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 85000.
AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AND WILL NOT GO OFF. PER OWNERS MANUAL AND OTHER SOURCES - THIS IS A FAILURE OF THE AIRBAG SENSOR. CAUSE IS LEAKAGE INTO THE SENSOR FROM ROAD SALT AND OR WATER. AIR BAG IS POSSIBLY IN A NON-WORKING CONDITION - THUS LEAVING THE POTENTIAL FOR BODILY HARM IF A CRASH SHOULD OCCUR. MANUFACTURER IS NOT OFFERING A FIX AT THIS TIME, AND ACTUALLY DENIES ANY PROBLEMS WITH SAID DEVICES.
I HAVE A 2007 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN THAT HAS IT'S MIDDLE ROW RIGHT SEATBELT REPLACED TWICE IN LESS THAN TWO YEARS. FIRST ONE FEB. 2009 AND SECOND ONE NOV. 2010. SAME PROBLEM EACH TIME WITH THE SEATBELTS - THEY WOULD JUST QUIT WORKING - THEY WOULD GET STUCK AND WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO LATCH SEATBELT. AND IF YOU COULD GET IT LATCHED FOR SOME REASON - IT WOULD BE NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO GET IT UNLATCHED WHEN NEED TOO. *TR
THE HEADLIGHTS INTERMITTENTLY SHUTOFF OR WILL NOT TURN ON WHILE DRIVING. I HAVE REPLACED THE BULBS, CHECKED FOR A LOOSE CONNECTIONS, AND CHECKED THE FUSES MANY TIMES. THIS IS OKAY DURING THE DAY, HOWEVER I LIVE OUT IN THE COUNTRY 15 MINUTES FROM THE NEAREST TOWN. I CANNOT DRIVE AT NIGHT WITHOUT HEADLIGHTS OR WITH THE POSSIBILITY THAT THEY WILL SHUTOFF WHILE DRIVING. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. I HAVE BEEN LUCKY SO FAR THAT NOTHING SERIOUS HAS HAPPENED BUT THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT MUST BE FIXED! MY WIFE AND 7 MONTH OLD CHILD USE THIS VEHICLE THE MOST AND I CAN'T FATHOM THE IDEA OF THEM BEING INJURED DUE TO THIS PROBLEM. OTHERS HAVE SUGGESTED A FAULTY HEADLIGHT SWITCH. I HAVE NOT HAD THE TIME TO TAKE THE VEHICLE IN TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT INSPECTED. *TR
ON SEPTEMBER 15, 2010 THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR TO MY 2007 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN CAUGHT FIRE 1 FOOT FROM MY 2 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WHO WAS STRAPPED IN A 5 POINT HARNESS CAR SEAT. I PICKED MY SON UP FROM SCHOOL AT APPROXIMATELY 5:45, WITH MY DAUGHTER IN TOW. I OPERATED THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR TO PUT HER BACK INTO HER SEAT AFTER SIGNING OUT MY SON WITH NO ISSUE. I NOTICED NOTHING WRONG WITH THE DOOR. I DROVE APPROXIMATELY 1 MILE TO MY HOUSE. HALFWAY HOME I SMELLED SOMETHING AND WHEN I PULLED INTO THE DRIVEWAY, I SAW SMOKE COMING FROM AN UNKNOWN SOURCE. I THOUGHT IT WAS MY AIR CONDITIONING UNIT AND BY TURNING THE CAR OFF I WOULD SOLVE THE PROBLEM OF THE SMOKE. I TRIED TO OPERATE THE AUTOMATIC DOORS FOR MY REAR PASSENGER DOORS BUT THEY DIDN'T WORK. I WAS ABLE TO MANUALLY OPEN MY REAR DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR BUT WAS NOT ABLE TO OPEN THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR NO MATTER HOW HARD I PULLED. I HAD NO IDEA THAT DOOR WAS ON FIRE AT THAT POINT. I NOTICED NOTHING WRONG WITH THE DOOR OTHER THAN IT WOULDN'T OPEN. I HAD TO CLIMB INTO THE BACK THROUGH THE OTHER SIDE TO GET MY DAUGHTER. I WENT IN TO THE HOUSE, STILL THINKING THAT EVERYTHING WOULD STOP SMOKING ONCE THE CAR COOLED DOWN AND LET MY DOG OUT IN THE BACK YARD. I CAME BACK AROUND TO THE FRONT OF THE HOUSE AFTER 5 MINUTES. I SAW GRAY SMOKE BILLOWING OUT OF THE REAR DRIVERS SIDE DOOR I HAD LEFT OPEN TO AIR OUT THE CAR. I WALKED AROUND TO THE PASSENGER'S SIDE AND I SAW THE PAINT BUBBLING AND MELTING AND LITTLE FLAMES LICKING THE GLASS OF THE DOOR. AT THAT POINT I CALLED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT AND MY NEIGHBOR TOOK THE HOSE TO THE CAR TO PUT OUT THE EXTERNAL FIRE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT CAME IN 5 MINUTES AND PUT OUT THE FIRE IN THE DOOR. THEY GAVE ME THE BURNED PIECE AND SAID THEY BELIEVED THAT THE FIRE STARTED IN THE MOTOR FOR THE AUTOMATIC DOOR. I CALLED IN A COMPLAINT TO CHRYSLER/DODGE. MY REFERENCE NUMBER IS 19962230 WITH THEM. OUR 2007 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN SXT SHOWS PREMATURE WEAR IN THE BRAKE AND RACK-AND-PINION SYSTEMS. THE FRONT BRAKE PADS HAD TO BE REPLACED AT 20,500 MILES AND AGAIN AT 42,300 MILES. THE BRAKE PADS WERE COMPLETELY WORN OUT AFTER JUST ABOUT 20,000 MILES TWICE NOW. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN, BECAUSE YOU DO NOT EXPECT THE BRAKES TO WEAR OUT AFTER 20,000 MILES PARTICULARLY IN THIS FAMILY CAR, ALWAYS DRIVEN WITH KIDS, VERY CAUTIOUSLY AND NEVER OFF-ROAD. THE RACK-AND-PINION SYSTEM IS WORN OUT AT 42,300 MILES AND THAT IS ALSO A SAFETY CONCERN BECAUSE IT IS PREMATURE AS WELL. THE CONSUMER DOES NOT EXPECT A FAILURE AFTER SUCH FEW MILES. THE CAR HAS BEEN REGULARLY AND METICULOUSLY INSPECTED AT THE CHRYSLER DODGE DEALERSHIP ACCORDING TO DODGE SPECIFICATIONS WHERE WE BOUGHT THE CAR AT 11,234 MILES IN MAY 2008. *TR

AS A RESULT, THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER HAD FAILED. THE MECHANIC ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE ENGINE WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED IN ORDER TO REMEDY THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT SERVICED FOR THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 62,000.
NO EVENTS LEAD UP TO THE FAILURE OF THE AC UNIT. FAILURE WAS DISCOVERED AFTER FIRST ATTEMPTED USE OF AC FOLLOWING WINTER OF 2010. REAR AC UNIT FAILURE. CORROSION OF THE REAR EVAPORATOR UNIT AND EARLY FAILURE OF THE REAR EXPANSION VALVE. FAILURE BELIEVED TO BE DUE TO POOR PLACEMENT AND OF THE LINES BEHIND THE R/REAR WHEEL AND LACK OF PROTECTION FROM ENVIRONMENTAL EFFECT OF ROAD SALT, SAND, DEBRIS, ETC. *TR
MY DODGE GRAND CARAVAN DIED WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. IT HAS HAPPENED TWICE. MY LOCAL DEALER SAY THERE IS NOTHING FOR THE DEALER TO LOOK AT. IN BOTH CASES THIS PROBLEM OCCURRED RIGHT AFTER I ACCELERATED ON THE INTERSTATE TO PASS A CAR. EVERYTHING GOES DEAD JUST LIKE I TURNED THE CAR OFF. I PUT THE VAN INTO NEUTRAL WHILE IT IS GOING. PULLED TO SIDE OF HIGHWAY TO RESTART VAN. NEVER HEARD OF THIS BEFORE. IT MAY BE IMPORTANT TO GET ON THE RECORD BECAUSE THIS COULD BE A DANGEROUS SITUATION DEPENDING ON WHERE AND WHEN IT HAPPENS. IF IT RESULTS IN AN ACCIDENT I'LL FILE LEGAL ACTION. DODGE SHOULD KNOW THEY HAVE A PROBLEM AND PROVIDE FIX IT. BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED. *TR
THE DODGE GRAND CARAVAN DIES WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. IT HAS HAPPENED TWICE. I'M BRINGING IT IN TO A DODGE DEALER IN VEGAS IN A COUPLE OF WEEKS. I'VE BEEN TOLD THE ERROR CODE IN THE COMPUTER SYSTEM WILL ZERO OUT ONCE THE CAR HAS BEEN STARTED THREE TIMES AFTER THIS PROBLEM OCCURS SO THERE IS NOTHING FOR THE DEALER TO LOOK AT. I'LL TAKE IT IN ANYWAY BECAUSE MAYBE THEY HAVE RUN INTO THIS BEFORE. IT ALMOST HAS TO BE A COMPUTER PROBLEM I BELIEVE. IN MY CASE THIS PROBLEM OCCURRED RIGHT AFTER I ACCELERATED ON THE INTERSTATE TO PASS A CAR. EVERYTHING GOES DEAD JUST LIKE I TURNED THE CAR OFF. I PUT THE VAN INTO NEUTRAL WHILE IT IS GOING AND RESTART THE CAR. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE REPLACING A LIGHT BULB IN THE OVERHEARD CONSOLE, HE NOTICED THE BULB HOLDING UNIT WAS DETERIORATING. HE STATED THE FAILURE APPEARED TO HAVE BEEN CAUSED BY THE BULB OVERHEATING AND CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE UNIT. THE DEALER ADVISED THE MANUFACTURER WAS AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND A NEWLY DESIGNED UNIT WAS AVAILABLE BUT ONLY AT THE OWNERS EXPENSE. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WOULD INTERMITTENTLY BECOME STUCK IN THE OPEN THROTTLE POSITION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 82,000.
2007 DODGE CARAVAN WITH 37,000 MILES WENT FOR ANNUAL INSPECTION. FOUND BOTH OUTER TIEROD ENDS WERE WORN OUT AND UNABLE TO PASS INSPECTION. VAN WAS NEVER ABUSED, NOR PUT INTO SEVERE SERVICE. FOUR PREVIOUS VANS DATING BACK TO 1991 HAD OVER 100,000 MILES AND NEVER THIS PROBLEM. THEREFORE, THE MATERIAL MUST BE DEFECTIVE. DEALER SAYS IT IS NOT ABNORMAL FOR THIS EARLY REPAIR. I THINK CHRYSLER USED DEFECTIVE MATERIALS. *TR
I PREVIOUSLY SUBMITTED A COMPLAINT ABOUT MY REAR WHEEL BEARINGS. MY ABS LIGHT IS ON AGAIN SO I TOOK IT THE GARAGE. I AM TOLD MY RIGHT OUTER TIE ROD AND THE SWAY BAR KIT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I HAVE ALREADY REPLACED THE LEFT OUTER TIE ROD ABOUT 10,000 MILES AGO. THE SUSPENSION OF THIS VAN IS HORRIBLE AND IT IS A FAMILY CAR. I CARRY MY FAMILY IN THIS CAR THAT COULD LOOSE A TIRE, FLIP OVER, OR LEAVE ME STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. I AM A MOTHER WHO DOESN'T USE THE VAN FOR ANYTHING OTHER THAN ORDINARY USE. I AM NOT BAJA OR CAUSING ANY STRESS ON THE SUSPENSION TO CAUSE ALL THESE PROBLEMS. CURRENT MILEAGE IS 64,000. *TR

WHEN I RIDE THROUGH PUDDLES OF WATER, I LOOSE THE ABILITY TO STEER MY VEHICLE. I WAS TURNING THE CORNER ENTERING ONTO A MAIN ROAD THAT HAD A MODERATE SIZE PUDDLE OF WATER. I LOSS THE ABILITY TO STEER MY VAN AND ALMOST RAN INTO THE MEDIAN. THE LOSS WAS ONLY FOR A FEW SECONDS BUT LONG ENOUGH FOR ME TO LOOSE CONTROL OF MY VAN. I COULD NOT STEER MY VEHICLE AFTER A VERY HARD GUST OF RAIN SHOWERED MY VEHICLE AS I WAS YIELDING BEFORE ENTERING A MAIN HIGHWAY. AFTER PROCEEDING ONTO THE HWY I HAD TO STOP AND WAIT SEVERAL SECONDS BEFORE BEING ABLE TO STEER THE VEHICLE. I HAVE HAD ONE OTHER OCCURRENCE AFTER SPLASHING INTO A VERY SMALL PUDDLE OF WATER ENTERING INTO THE DEVELOPMENT THAT I LIVE IN. I WAS TRAVELING VERY SLOWLY AS I WAS APPROACHING THE GUARD GATE. I HAD TO WAIT AT LEAST 20 SECONDS BEFORE BEING ABLE TO STEER MY VEHICLE. EACH OCCURRENCE THE LENGTH OF TIME THAT I LOOSE STEERING SEEMS TO INCREASE. EACH TIME IT SEEMS THE WATER SPLASHES ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THIS SEEMS TO HAVE BECOME A PROBLEM WITHIN THE LAST YEAR. I AM VERY CONCERNED AND WILL BE CONTACTING MY DEALER. *TR

ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, AFTER PRESSING BUTTON TO CLOSE REAR SLIDING DOOR, I TRIED TO STOP THE DOOR FROM CLOSING BY PUTTING MY BODY IN THE WAY. THE DOOR KEPT CLOSING AND DID NOT AUTOMATICALLY STOP AND REVERSE LIKE IT IS SUPPOSE TO. THIS NOT ONLY HAPPENED TO ME, BUT ALSO BOTH OF MY SMALL CHILDREN. IN EVERY CASE, THEY WERE SCARED TO TEARS BECAUSE OF THE PRESSURE PUT ON THEM PRIOR TO THE DOOR REVERSING LIKE IT IS SUPPOSED TO. 1-TOOK CHRYSLER 2007 GRAND CARAVAN FOR REPAIR, JULY 2, 2009, FOR BRAKE REPAIR AND TUNEUP. REPAIR MAN NOTICED THE FRONT TIE-RODS WERE OF MORE IMMEDIATE CONCERN. HE SAID HE NOTICED SAME CONDITION OF DAMAGED/BENT TIE RODS ON OTHER CHRYSLER MINI VANS (NOT SURE IF OTHER CHRYSLER VEHICLES AS WELL). HE EVEN QUESTIONED WHETHER THERE WAS AN IMMANENT RECALL. I DID JUST WRITE TO CHRYSLER EXPRESSING CONCERN ON TIE RODS. 2- THE FAILURE IS THE FRONT TIE RODS (NOT SURE ON REAR) WHICH NOW MAKES SENSE AS MY FRONT TIRES ARE PREMATURELY WORN. DID THE TIE RODS ALSO CAUSE THE BRAKES TO PREMATURELY WEAR? I HAVE 45K MILES ON VEHICLE (NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS)AND AM NOW ON 2ND BRAKE REPAIR (ROTORS AND PADS). NOT 100% CLEAR IF BRAKES AFFECTED BY TIRE RODS DAMAGE BUT PREMATURE TIRE CONDITION IS, ACCORDING TO MECHANIC. CONSEQUENCES OF FRONT TIE ROD DEFECT COULD BE SERIOUS ACCIDENT WHILE DRIVING. 3- ACTION ITEM: I WILL HAVE REPAIR PLACE REPAIR FRONT BRAKES THEN BRING VAN BACK IN ONE WEEK TO REPAIR THE FRONT TIE RODS ($150). THEN A WEEK LATER GET NEW FRONT TIRES. COULDN'T AFFORD ALL THREE AT ONCE. *TR THANK YOU FOR ANY HELP/GUIDANCE

2007 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. SINCE ABOUT 5,000 MILES THE VAN HAS HAD AN INTERMITTENT RUMBLING/SQUEALING FROM THE BRAKING SYSTEM, MORE PRONOUNCED AT A STOP, BUT ALSO AT LOW TO MID-SPEEDS. THIS PAST WEEKEND, WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE DRIVEWAY AT LESS THAN 10 MPH, THE ABS RUMBLED SO LOUD THE ENTIRE VAN SHOOK. WE THEN STOPPED THE VAN, PLACED IT IN PARK AND THEN BACK INTO GEAR (DRIVE). WHEN THE BRAKES WERE AGAIN APPLIED, THEY WERE ROCK SOLID (NO MOVEMENT OF THE BRAKE PEDAL) THEN THE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR, RESULTING IN A COLLISION WITH A TREE VICE AN ON-COMING VEHICLE. THE PASSENGER FRONT TIRE ROLLED SLIGHTLY UP THE TREE, BROKE THE WHEEL FRAME CONNECTION PIECE, BENT THE SWAY ARM, BUCKLED THE FRONT QUARTER PANEL, AND EXPLODED THE TIRE. VAN CURRENTLY HAS 16K MILES. NO INJURIES. EVENT WAS WITNESSED BY THREE PEOPLE OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. BUT WITH THAT TYPE OF HIT ON THE TREE, SHOULDN'T THE AIRBAGS HAVE ALSO DEPLOYED? *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT WOULD NOT OPERATE. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN AUGUST 2007 AND FROM DAY ONE, NOTICED THE HARD SHIFT ON MOVE-OFF AND ON SLOW-DOWN. I HAVE A FRIEND WHO WAS EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE WITH A 2007 TOYOTA AND THE ISSUE WAS RESOLVED WITH A SOFTWARE UPGRADE. I JUST TOOK MY CAR INTO MY NEIGHBORHOOD DEALERSHIP ALONG WITH A COPY OF THE BULLETIN INFO (THANKS TO MYCARSTATS.COM FOR MAKING THIS INFORMATION AVAILABLE TO THE CONSUMER) AND THEY SAID THAT THE VEHICLE TESTED FINE - NO PROBLEMS. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS!! SO I REPORTED THE PROBLEM TO DODGE CUSTOMER SERVICE. THEY RECOMMENDED THAT I VISIT ANOTHER (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED) DEALERSHIP FOR A SECOND OPINION. WHY SHOULD THIS BE??? THIS IS A SIMPLE SOFTWARE FIX. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. FROM SEPTEMBER OF 2007 UNTIL MAY OF 2008, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER THREE TIMES FOR TRANSMISSION FAILURE. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE FROM A RED LIGHT, THE TRANSMISSION FEELS AS IF IT WILL DROP TO THE GROUND WHEN SHIFTING FROM FIRST TO SECOND GEAR. ON MAY 14, 2008, THE TRANSMISSION WAS FINALLY REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION BECAUSE PAINT WAS PEELING FROM THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE QUARTER PANEL. THE DEALER STATED THAT TAR ADHERED TO THE PAINT; THEREFORE, THEY WASHED THE QUARTER PANEL AND SCRAPED OFF THE PAINT. WHEN THE VEHICLE AND HEADLIGHTS ARE TURNED OFF, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS, FOG LIGHTS, AND HEADLIGHTS WOULD REMAIN ILLUMINATED, EVEN THOUGH THE SWITCH WAS IN THE OFF POSITION. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE EXTERIOR LIGHTS WOULD ILLUMINATE AUTOMATICALLY, WHICH DRAINED THE BATTERY. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE HEADLAMP SWITCH SHORTED OUT. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SWITCH ON THE PANEL TO SHUT THE VEHICLE DOORS DID NOT WORK FOR TWO DAYS. IT HAS BEGUN TO WORK AGAIN, BUT THE CONTACT BELIEVES IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE THE SWITCH FAILS AGAIN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 7,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,500. UPDATED 07/10/08. *LJ UPDATED
MY DAUGHTER GOT HER THUMB IN THE WAY OF THE POWER SLIDING DOOR OF OUR DODGE GRAND CARAVAN AND THE DOOR SHUT COMPLETELY ON HER THUMB. I THOUGHT THE DOOR WAS SUPPOSED TO OPEN BACK UP IF THERE WAS SOMETHING IN THE WAY OF IT. *TR
CAR WILL NOT START AFTER SETTING FOR FEW WEEKS. *TR
SINCE MIDDLE OF LAST DECEMBER 2007 I CANNOT USE MY CAR BECAUSE ?TRANSMISSION HAS NO REVERSE?. THIS IS SECOND TIME A TROUBLE LIKE THIS HAPPENS. FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED ON LAST OCTOBER 2007 AT 2,230 MILES. ). I CANNOT AGREE WITH YOUR CORPORATION'S DECISION AND LARRY MILLER DODGE SERVICE CENTER'S DECISION TO REPAIR THE VAN AT EVERY 2,000 MILES. PLEASE HELP ME. *TR
WHEN SLOWING DOWN AFTER DRIVING IN OVERDRIVE AND PRIOR TO ENGINE REACHING NORMAL OPERATING TEMPERATURE ALL LIGHTS (HEAD, TAIL, DASH, DOME, ETC) DIM TO A NEARLY OFF BRIGHTNESS AND COME RIGHT BACK TO NORMAL BRIGHTNESS AT THE 3/2 DOWN SHIFT. THIS HAS OCCURRED SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NEW AND THE DEALER ADVISES THAT EVERYTHING IS WORKING AS DESIGNED. I DON'T THINK CHRYSLER DESIGNED THE LIGHTS TO FLASH OFF AND ON WHEN SLOWING DOWN. ALSO, AT 7 MONTHS (15696 MILES) THE BATTERY FAILED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, A VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE SPUN, ROLLED OVER INTO A DITCH, AND LANDED ON ITS ROOF. THE SIDE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY AND THE SEAT BELTS DID NOT LOCK. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT WHEN HE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE, THE SEAT BELTS WOULD LOCK IN CASE OF A ROLLOVER. THE DRIVER AND FRONT PASSENGER WERE EJECTED FROM THE SEAT BELTS AND STRUCK THEIR HEADS. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED A MISALIGNED BACK AND UPPER AND LOWER SPINAL STRAIN. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED A CUT HAND AND UPPER AND LOWER SPINAL STRAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND DETERMINED TO BE DESTROYED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 32,000.
I HAVE HAD MY 07' GRAND CARAVAN IN THE SHOP NOW A TOTAL OF 3TIMES FOR THE SAME ISSUE. THE TRANSMISSION DOES NOT SHIFT CORRECTLY ... IT HAS A HARD DOWN SHIFT WHEN COMING TO A STOP AND SOMETIMES WILL DO THE HARD SHIFT WHILE IN DRIVE AS WELL. I WAS TOLD THIS WOULD BE FIXED BY SEPTEMBER .. IT IS NOW NOVEMBER AND STILL NOTHING. I TOOK THIS TO ANOTHER DEALER TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT AND THEY ARE SAYING THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG IT SHOULD NOT FEEL LIKE MY TRANSMISSION IS GOING TO DROP OUT WHEN I COME TO A STOP. GUESS NEXT TIME IT DOES I WILL HAVE IT BACK IN THERE AGAIN. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT RENTED A 2007 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH, THE GEAR SHIFTED INTO REVERSE BY ITSELF. THE VEHICLE ROLLED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE REAR BUMPER WAS DAMAGED. THE PURCHASE DATE WAS NOT APPLICABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 6,652.
THIS ISSUE OCCURS EVERY TIME I DRIVE THE VEHICLE. IT IS A CHRYSLER FINANCIAL LEASE VEHICLE, AND CURRENT MILEAGE IS APPROXIMATELY 9,200 MILES. THE PROBLEM STARTED OCCURRING AT APPROXIMATELY 250 MILES. I AM AN ENGINEER ON AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SYSTEMS. THE PURPOSE OF THIS COMPLAINT IS TO PROVIDE NHTSA AND THE MANUFACTURER WITH ONE MORE EXAMPLE OF AN ISSUE THAT SEEMS TO BE COMMON WITH THIS PARTICULAR TRANSMISSION/VEHICLE. THE DODGE DEALER HAS NOT BEEN CONTACTED AND THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN SERVICED. ISSUE ? THE VEHICLE EXHIBITS AN EXTREMELY HARSH 21 DOWNSHIFT. IT ALSO EXHIBITS A MILDLY HARSH 12 UPSHIFT. I SUSPECT SOLENOID AND/OR VALVE BODY DEBRIS IS PRESENT CAUSING DELAYED/HARSH SHIFTS. THERE IS ALSO A MODERATE AMOUNT OF TORQUE CONVERTER LOCK-UP CLUTCH SLIPPAGE IN THIRD GEAR. THE VEHICLE REMAINS IN THIRD GEAR UNTIL APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH. DURING THIRD GEAR TORQUE CONVERTER LOCK-UP MODE, ENGINE SPEED FLUCTUATIONS ARE VISIBLE ON THE TACHOMETER. THE ENGINE SPEED CHANGES ARE AUDIBLE AS WELL. I HAVE BEEN MONITORING THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID (ATF) LEVEL AND COLOR. THE LEVEL IS CORRECT AND THE FLUID DOES NOT SMELL OR APPEAR BURNT (FLUID IS RED IN COLOR). *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. WHILE IDLING AT A RED LIGHT, A VEHICLE REAR ENDED THE CONTACT AND THE DRIVER SIDE REAR SEAT BELT DID NOT RETRACT. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. AS A RESULT, THE PASSENGER LUNGED FORWARD AND STRUCK HER FOREHEAD ON THE BACK OF THE DRIVER SEAT. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED MUSCLE AND BACK INJURIES. THE PASSENGER SUSTAINED FOREHEAD, NECK, AND EYE INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE SEAT BELTS WORKED PROPERLY. THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED OVER $7,000 IN DAMAGES TO THE REAR END. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 9,385 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,000.
ON 8/4/07, MY 2007 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN WAS PARKED IN OUR DRIVEWAY, IN PARK WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING. I PROCEEDED TO OPEN THE DOOR AND THE CAR WENT DOWN THE HILL, INTO OUR WOODS, AND HIT A TREE. THE CAR WAS IN PARK THE ENTIRE TIME. AFTER THIS, I HAVE SPENT NUMEROUS HOURS CONTACTING CHRYSLER. CHRYSLER DID SEND OUT A MECHANIC AND THEY DID ADMIT THAT THE PROBLEM WAS MECHANICAL - TRANSMISSION DID NOT HAVE THE 'PARKING PIN'. I WAS TOLD BY CHRYSLER THAT THIS COULD HAVE HAPPENED ANYWHERE. AT THIS POINT, CHRYSLER WANTS TO REPLACE MY OLD VAN WITH A NEW ONE AND ME TO PAY THE DIFFERENCE. I AM NOT AGREEING TO THIS. I HAVE ALSO BEEN TOLD BY CHRYSLER AND THE DEALERSHIP THAT THIS WAS AN ISOLATED INCIDENT. I BELIEVE THAT THIS IS NOT TRUE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. WHEN THE CONTACT ATTEMPTS TO LOCK HER VEHICLE WITH THE POWER LOCK FUNCTION, ALL THE DOORS LOCK EXCEPT THE REAR PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR. SHE HAS NOT TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER BECAUSE THEY WILL NOT PROVIDE HER WITH A RENTAL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 29,541 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 30,000.
THE LEFT ELECTRIC SLIDING DOOR INTERMITTENTLY STOPS WORKING AFTER THE DOOR OPENS. THE PROBLEM EVENTUALLY FIXES ITSELF SEVERAL ENGINE STARTS LATER. THIS LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THERE IS AN ELECTRICAL SYSTEM MALFUNCTION THAT COULD LEAD TO OTHER ELECTRICAL COMPONENT FAILURES. MANUALLY CLOSING THE DOOR AFTER IT IS STUCK OPEN DOES NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. DRIVING TO A DEALERSHIP WITH THE DOOR STUCK OPEN IS UNSAFE. THE DEALER WILL NOT VISIT THE VEHICLE TO VIEW THE PROBLEM. IF THE INTERMITTENT PROBLEM GOES AWAY, THE DEALER WILL TAKE NO ACTION TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. *TR
ON 8/22/07 I PURCHASED A 2007 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN FROM ED NAPLETON DODGE IN OAKLAWN, ILLINOIS. ON 10/5/07 WHILE DRIVING MY VEHICLE, IT OVERHEATED AND THE STEERING WENT OUT OF CONTROL CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO BE HARD TO STEER. LOOKING UNDER THE HOOD THE ALTERNATOR BELT WAS IN SHREDS. IT WAS LEARNED THAT THE POWER STEERING PUMP WENT OUT. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TAILPIPE WAS EXTREMELY HOT AND BURNED A PASSENGER'S KNEE. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AT THE TIME. SHE ALSO STATED THAT THE PIPE DRASTICALLY PROTRUDES FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. NO ADJUSTMENTS WERE MADE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 3,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 11. UPDATED 12/12/2007 *BF UPDATED 12/12/07 *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION WOULD SHIFT HARD AND THE VEHICLE SURGED FORWARD WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE DEALER REPROGRAMMED THE TRANSMISSION, HOWEVER, THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO OCCUR. APPROXIMATELY TWO WEEKS LATER, THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO ANOTHER DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FAILED. AS OF SEPTEMBER 19, 2007, THE DEALER HAD NOT REPAIRED THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 6,028.
WE PURCHASED AN 07' DODGE GRAND CARAVAN JUNE 07 AND HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS W/ IT SINCE SHORTLY AFTER THE PURCHASE. IT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP TWICE FOR THE SAME ISSUE AND IS CONTINUING TO HAVE THE PROBLEM. WHEN WE HAD IT IN THE LAST TIME WE WERE TOLD CHRYSLER WAS WORKING ON THE PROBLEM AND WOULD HAVE SOMETHING DURING THE MONTH OF AUGUST ... WELL I PHONED SEPT 11 12:15 PM AND WAS TOLD AT THAT TIME THEY STILL HAD HEARD NOTHING IN REGARDS TO THE ISSUE. IT STARTED OUT THAT THE VAN WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO GEAR WHEN COMING TO A STOP ... FEELS LIKE THE TRANSMISSION IS GOING TO DROP OUT AT TIMES. IT THEN MOVED TO DOING THIS WHILE IN MOTION AS WELL ... THE DEALER ASSURED US THAT NOTHING IS GOING TO HAPPEN IT IS A COMPUTER PROBLEM THAT CHRYSLER IS WORKING ON. THERE ARE OTHER KNOWN CUSTOMERS W/ THE SAME PROBLEM. WHEN WE HAD IT IN THE SHOP THE FIRST TIME A DX WAS RAN ON THE COMPUTER TO RESET EVERYTHING ... DIDN'T HELP AT ALL. HAD IT BACK IN A WEEK LATER FOR 9+DAYS AND AT THAT TIME THEY DROPPED THE TRANSMISSION OUT AND REPLACED THE CLUTCHES AND SOMETHING ELSE TOO. AS SOON AS WE DROVE IT OFF THE LOT IT WAS BACK TO SQUARE ONE. MY KEY HAS GOTTEN STUCK IN THE IGNITION ONCE SO FAR ... DIDN'T TAKE IT IN BUT DID PHONE TO LET THEM KNOW ABOUT THE ISSUE. THAT HAPPENED DURING THE MONTH OF JULY .... NOW MY BACK AUTOMATIC DOORS WILL NOT OPEN FROM THE INSIDE SWITCH LOCATED NEAR THE DOORS, AND MY PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW WAS ROLLED DOWN YESTERDAY (09/15/07) AND DIDN'T WANT TO GO BACK UP. I DID FINALLY GET IT UP BUT SCARED TO TRY AND ROLL IT DOWN AGAIN. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE CONTACT FELT AN IMBALANCE IN THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE. AS HE ATTEMPTED TO DECELERATE AND PULL OVER, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL DETACHED AND ROLLED DOWN THE ROAD. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH. HE STATED THAT THE LUG STRUTS FRACTURED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO EXPLAIN THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 5,500.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT ACCIDENTALLY PLACED THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL INSTEAD OF PARK AND IT ROLLED INTO A POND. THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED MINOR DAMAGES. THERE IS A FEATURE ON THE STEERING WHEEL, HOWEVER, THE CONTACT COULD NOT IDENTIFY THE FEATURE. THE PURCHASE DATE AND POWERTRAIN WERE UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 24,049 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 23,152.
