steering wheel refusing to lock. therefore safety issue as car locks will not lock as a result. no messages or warning lights or behaviors. this happened once a year ago. and was able to lock steering by moving wheel and moving key in ignition.
The TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE RECALLED ITS GOING TO CAUSE A DEADLY ACCIDENT WHILE IN DRIVE LEAVING A STOP LIGHT A CAR NEARLY SLAMMED INTO ME FROM BEHIND WHEN LIGHT CHANGED CAR HAD NO POWER TO GO. ON HIGHWAY IT DOES A SUDDEN HARD JERK WITH LOSS OF POWER SHIFTING INTO NXT GEAR.
I HAVE SAME PROBLEM AS OTHERS. HAVE BEEN ABLE TO START CAR SOMETIMES BY PUTTING IT IN NEUTRAL. SEVERAL YEARS AGO I LEFT THE CAR WITH OUR SON TO SEE IF HE COULD FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM BECAUSE MY WIFE QUIT DRIVING THE CAR AFTER BEING STRANDED A FEW TIMES. WHEN USING BLINKERS THE HIGH BEAM WOULD COME ON. IT HAS A ROARING SOUND LIKE A WHEEL BEARING GOING OUT.THE KEY FOB DOESN'T WORK. I'VE BEEN TOLD THE BCM BODY CONTROL MODULE COULD BE CAUSING PROBLEMS. HAD ESTIMATE OF $500 TO REPLACE AND PROGRAM NEW BCM.. WE HAVE TOWED CAR HOME AFTER GOING TO STORE. I USED TO DRIVE OTR SO WE GOT A SECOND VEHICLE TO DRIVE. AFTER READING OTHER POSTS ON THIS CAR 4/4/2021 I DON'T THINK I WANT TO PUT MORE MONEY INTO IT. ESPECIALLY WHEN I'VE READ GM TECHS CAN'T FIX THE PROBLEMS.. ONCE THE VACUUM LINE TO BRAKE BOOSTER CAME OFF WHEN MY WIFE WAS GOING DOWN HILL. I PUT THE LINE BACK ON, IT HASN'T DONE THAT AGAIN. WE HAVE NOT DRIVEN THE CAR OUT OF TOWN FOR FEAR OF IT BREAKING DOWN. AND SHOPS NOT BEING ABLE TO TELL US WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT.. I TIED A CABLE ON TRUNK RELEASE SO I CAN OPEN TRUNK. . WE DID LOVE THE CAR WHEN IT WAS RUNNING. HAS 193,000K AT THIS TIME. HAS STALLED/QUIT ON CITY STREETS. AND WE QUIT DRIVING IT ON HIGHWAY.
MY 2007 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX HAD A HEADLAMP SWITCH PROBLEM. I WOULD BE DRIVING AT NIGHT AND THE HEADLIGHTS WOULD JUST GO OUT. SOMETIMES IF YOU'D KEEP THEM ON LOW BEAM YOU'D HAVE LIGHTS. BUT SOMETIMES EVEN THIS DIDN'T WORK. THERE WAS A RECALL IN THIS SO I TOOK IT IN FOR THE REPAIR. IT WORKED FOR A COUPLE OF MONTHS BUT THEN QUIT WORKING AND THE LIGHTS WOULD GO OUT AGAIN. WE PARKED THE CAR FOR A WHILE. THEN GAVE IT TO MY DAUGHTER AND HER HUSBAND. WE RECENTLY GOT THE CAR BACK FROM MY DAUGHTER BECAUSE THEY HAD BECAUSE OF THE SAME REASON. THEY WERE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. I CALLED A GM DEALERSHIP HERE IN TOWN AND THEY SAID IT WASN'T COVERED. I THEN CALLED GM DIRECTLY AND WAS TOLD THAT I WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIR.
I HAVE A SECONDARY AIR ISSUE THAT WE CAN'T SEEM TO GET FIXED, EVEN WITH ALL THE PARTS WE HAVE REPLACED. ALSO AT NIGHT EVERY TIME I USE MY BLINKER THE HIGH BEAMS COME ON AND WON'T TURN OFF. THE ISSUE IS WHEN IM DRIVING AT NIGHT IT SEEMS TO HAPPEN WHEN MY BLINKER CLICKS BACK INTO PLACE.
PONTIAC WONT START, CHANGED STARTER, SAW RECALL FOR IGNITION SWITCH. RACK & PINION LEAK, COVER GASKET LEAK, SAW RECALL. AIR BAG CODE CAME UP.
MY LOW BEAM HEAD LIGHTS ARE BEGINNING TO FAIL. MY DRIVER SIDE HEADLIGHT NO LONGER TURNS ON AND I BELIEVE IT BE THE FAILURE OF THE HOOD LAMP DRIVER MODULE. AFTER REPLACING ALL BULBS AND CHECKING ALL FUSES. I HAVE CONCLUDED IT IS THIS RELAY THAT IS CAUSING MY DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS TO FAIL. THERE IS DOCUMENTATION THAT THIS IS A KNOWN FAILURE BUT MY CAR IS NOT SHOWING UP ON THE RECALL LIST.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX. WHILE APPROACHING AN INTERSECTION, THE VEHICLE SEIZED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT MANAGED TO MOVE THE VEHICLE TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD WITH THE HELP OF A BYSTANDER. THE CONTACT BELIEVES THE KEY FELL OUT OF THE IGNITION. THE POWER STEERING AND BRAKES WENT OUT, PLACE THE GEAR INTO PARK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 52,000. *BF*JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE ACCELERATED INDEPENDENTLY WITHOUT WARNING AND CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE CONTACT THEN VEERED OFF THE ROAD, CRASHED INTO A PINE TREE, AND FLIPPED OVER. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND THE SEAT BELT SNAPPED AS THE VEHICLE FLIPPED. THE CONTACT AND OTHER DRIVER WERE BOTH EVALUATED AT THE SCENE. THE CONTACT LATER SOUGHT MEDICAL ATTENTION FOR A BROKEN ARM. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS INITIALLY TOWED TO A TOW YARD AND THEN TO THE CONTACT'S HOME. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DESTROYED; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS DEEMED INOPERABLE. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE CRASH OR THE AIR BAG FAILURE. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURES WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 256,000.
MY "REDUCED ENGINE POWER" LIGHT CAME ON. USED A SNAP ON $5000 SCANNER. CODES SAY GAS PEDAL SENSOR. CHANGED THAT PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. CLEANED THROTTLE CASE. CAR STALLS AND I HAVE TO PRESS GAS PEDAL TO THE FLOOR TO GET IT TO 20 MILES AN HOUR. THERE ARE SO MANY BLOGS ON THIS PROBLEM ITS UNBELIEVABLE. I JUST HAD THE RECALLS FIXED ON THE IGNITION AND HEAD LIGHTS. NOW THIS ISSUE. PLEASE HELP. IM SINGLE, HOMELESS, AND UNEMPLOYED. THIS IS THE LAST THING I NEED RIGHT NOW.
MOUNTING OF POWER STEERING RACK SUDDENLY BROKE ON PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL ALLOWING IT TO TURN INDEPENDENTLY FROM LEFT FRONT WHEEL. I WAS BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPOT WHEN THIS HAPPENED, BUT IF THIS WOULD HAVE HAPPENED WHILE DRIVEING ON FREEWAY I COULD OF CRASHED AND LOST CONTROL OF CAR. WE CONTACTED GM AND THEY SAID NO RECALL , WE FEEL THIS SHOULD BE A SAFETY RECALL
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE IGNITION WOULD SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING. THE FAILURE OCCURRED AT ANY SPEED WITHOUT WARNING. WHILE THE CONTACT'S SON WAS ENTERING A FREEWAY RAMP, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED AND LOST POWER. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE PLACED IN NEUTRAL BEFORE THE POWER STEERING SEIZED. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED, IT WAS ABLE TO BE DRIVEN HOME SAFELY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 206,000.
WHEN I START MY CAR, IT WILL STALL OUT, NOT TURN OVER OR IT WILL IDLE FOR A FEW SECONDS, THEN IMMEDIATELY SHUT OFF. I MEAN SHUT THE WHOLE CAR DOWN SO NOTHING ELECTRICAL CAN WORK AT WHICH POINT MY KEY WILL BE STUCK IN THE IGNITION AND I CANNOT GET IT OUT. I AM ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR NORMALLY, HOWEVER THE STEERING WHEEL VIBRATES ALONG WITH THE BODY OF MY CAR WHILE IN MOTION AND WHILE PARKED. WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN THROUGH A FOUR WAY INTERSECTION, I LOST CONTROL OF MY POWER STEERING AND THE WHEEL WAS STUCK AT FIRST AND THEN SWUNG ALL THE WAY BACK WHICH SPUN MY CAR AROUND. THIS CAR HAS HAD 1 OWNER BEFORE ME AND I HAVE KEPT UP WITH ALL OF MY OIL CHANGES AND TUNE UPS. IN SEPTEMBER OF 2018, I HAD A SIMILAR ISSUE WITH THE VIBRATING AND WAS TOLD THAT A CYLINDER WAS MISFIRING AND THAT I NEEDED A TUNE UP. I SPENT $587 ON THESE REPAIRS. MY VEHICLE WAS AT 98,890 MILES. IT IS MAY 2019 ABOUT 9 MONTHS LATER MY VEHICLE IS AT 108,630 MILES AND I AM HAVING THE SAME AND ADDITIONAL ISSUES NOT EVEN 10,000 MILES MORE. I HAVE DOCUMENTATION FROM THE MECHANIC FROM MY CYLINDER REPAIRS THAT I HAVE REQUESTED TO BE FAXED OVER TO ME.
AIRBAG LIGHT GOES OFF AND ON. HAS BEEN TO DEALER TWICE FOR CORRECTION AND DEALER DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO FIX.
RANDOM MISFIRE CODE WON'T GO AWAY SINCE WEEKS AFTER PURCHASING MY VEHICLE WHICH WAS THEN UNDER WARRANTY. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE CAR COMPUTER & IGNITION COIL MODULE, SPARK PLUGS AND THE CODE TEMPORARILY WENT AWAY GOOD ENOUGH TO PASS EMISSIONS. THEY ALSO PERFORMED THE KEY RECALL THE CODE KEEPS COMING & NO MECHANIC OR DEALERSHIP CAN TELL ME WHY BUT THEY KEEP TAKING MY MONEY FOR A TEMPORARY FIX.THE DEALERSHIP SAID I NEEDED A NEW CATALYTIC CONVERTER. I HAVE REPLACED 5 SENSORS, THE IGNITION COIL MODULE TWICE, THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER, ALL SIX FUEL INJECTORS, THE FUEL PUMP AND HAD 3 MAJOR TUNE UPS. TO DATE THE ENGINE LIGHT SHUTS OFF TEMPORARILY AND ALWAYS RETURNS WITH THE SAME TWO CODES P0300 & P0420. IT FLASHES OCCASIONALLY BUT STAYS STEADY MOST DAYS.NO WORK DONE IS TURNING THE ENGINE LIGHT OFF FOR GOOD.
THE TURN SIGNAL STALK THAT IS ON THE LEFT OF THE STEERING WHEEL IS DEFECTIVE. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION ON A STREET OR HIGHWAY THE BRIGHTS WILL ILLUMINATE RANDOMLY BLINDING OTHER DRIVERS. ADDITIONALLY, WHEN MAKING A TURN AND USING THE TURN SIGNAL THE BRIGHTS WILL ALSO TURN ON WHEN THE BLINKER TURNS OFF BLINDING INCOMING DRIVERS. THIS HAPPENS EVERY DAY AND ON EVERY TRIP. THERE HAS BEEN LOTS OF RESEARCH COMPLETED AND THERE ARE SEVERAL OTHER OWNERS OF GRAND PRIXS THAT EXPERIENCE THIS SAME PROBLEM. THE FOLLOWING IS A LINK TO YOUTUBE WHERE A DRIVER EXPLAINS HIS ISSUE AND HOW TO REPLACE THE TURN SIGNAL STALK. HTTPS://YOUTU.BE/AFANEQ-P6Y8 ATTACHED IS THE EXACT PIECE THAT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I'D BE WILLING TO SUBMIT A VIDEO OF THE DANGER THIS CAUSES IF REQUESTED. THANK YOU.
THE PROBLEM STARTED WITH "STARTING DISABLED DUE TO THEFT SYSTEM". UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION I GOT BODY CODES B3055 AND B2960. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION I FOUND ONLINE THIS TO BE A REAL PROBLEM FOR A LOT OF PEOPLE DUE TO THE PK3 SENSOR IN THE IGNITION. THE PROBLEM HAPPENED WHEN THE BATTERY HAD DIED. I JUMPED STARTED THE CAR AS PER THE MANUAL INSTRUCTS, DROVE INTO TOWN "1 MILE FROM HOME" LEFT IT RUNNING THE 20 MIN I WAS THERE COME HOME AND PARKED IT. NEXT MORNING IT WOULDN'T START AND THE INFO SCREEN SAID STARTING DISABLED DUE TO THE FT MODE. EVERYTHING OINT TO A FAULTY IGNITION AND PK3 SENSOR IN IGNITION SWITCH NOT ALLOWING IT TO READ THE ECM.
IN MAY 2017 MY LOW BEAMS DECIDED TO TURN ON AND OFF AND NOW THEY WILL NOT COME ON AT ALL. ALSO THE INTERIOR LIGHTS HAVE ALWAYS HAD PROBLEMS THEY HAVE NEVER FULLY TURNED ON AND ON TOP OF ALL OF THAT NOW MY LICENSE PLATE TAG LIGHT IS NOW LONGER WORKING. I HAVE CHANGED ALL OF THE BULBS AND STILL THING IS HELPING. I DON'T KNOW MUCH ABOUT CARS.
WHEN USING MY TURN SIGNAL (PRIMARILY/ CONSISTENTLY WHEN SIGNALING A RIGHT HAND TURN) MY BRIGHT LIGHTS COME ON AND IT IS QUITE DIFFICULT TO GET THEM TO TURN OFF. OCCURS OCCASIONALLY WHEN SIGNALING A LEFT HAND TURN. THIS HAPPENS WHEN MOVING OR STATIONARY.
WHILE DRIVING, ESPECIALLY WHEN THE TEMP IS UNDER 40 DEGREES. I RANDOMLY GET ERROR WITH TRACTION CONTROL OFF AND REDUCED ENGINE POWER. I HAVE TROUBLE ACCELERATING AND KEEPING SPEED. WHICH HAS BEEN VERY DANGEROUS TO GET TO A SAFE SPOT ON THE EXPRESSWAY TO PULL OFF, WHEN MY SPEED SUDDENLY CHANGES. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR THE LAST 3 YEARS DURING THE COLD MONTHS AND I HAVE GOT ITEMS CLEANED AND SENSORS CHANGED TO NO END.
THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS HARD TO CRANK HAD TO WIGGLE IT A FEW TIMES BUT THEY FIX THE RECALL AND MY BRAKES SYSTEM IS NOT RIGHT EVERY TIME I SWITCH BRAKE PADS OUT IT STILL DOESNT DO ANY GOOD AND DO TO THE BRAKES I HAD A FENDER BENDER BUT I FIX IT OUT OF POCKET BRAKES STILL GO TO FLOOR AND MY LIGHTS WENT OUT LIKE IT A SHORTAGE SO I GOT THEM RIG SO THAT THEY WILL WORK

HIGH BEAM HEADLIGHTS COME ON ERRATICALLY UNEXPECTEDLY WITHOUT DRIVER INTERACTION. AS FOR EXAMPLE SOON AS ENGINE STARTS, WHILE DRIVING OR AFTER MAKING A TURN WITH TURN SIGNAL. HAVE HAD NUMEROUS ONCOMING DRIVERS BLARE THEIR HORNS OR FLASHING THEIR LIGHTS AT ME. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD NOT ONLY FOR MYSELF BUT FOR OTHER DRIVERS. HAVE SPOKEN TO GM REGARDING THIS ISSUE AND THEY TOLD ME NOT GREAT ENOUGH PERCENTAGE TO WARRANT A RECALL. SEEMS LIKE JUST MORE BS FROM GM NOT STANDING BEHIND THEIR PRODUCTS FOR THINGS THAT SHOULD NOT OCCUR. HAVE SPOKEN ONLINE WITH NUMEROUS USERS WITH SAME ISSUE. I'VE HAD THIS ISSUE FOR SEVERAL YEARS AND HAS GOTTEN WORSE WITH THE OCCURRENCE FREQUENCY THAT IT HAPPENS. USE TO BE ONLY DURING COLDER MONTHS BUT THIS YEAR HAS BEEN OCCURRING DURING THE WARMER MONTHS AS WELL.

REFERENCE RECALL 14V755 NOV 25, 2014, I EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM IN FEBRUARY 2014 WHILE DRIVING HOME AT NIGHT ON A BACK ROAD WITH LITTLE TRAFFIC. I WAS GOING 45 MPH AND SUDDENLY PITCH BLACK. I THOUGHT QUICKLY THOUGHT TO HIT MY HIGH BEAMS. AFTER SPENDING MONEY, REPLACED THE RELAY AND THE FOLLOWING JULY IT COMPLETELY MELTED DOWN, BURNING UP MY FUSE BOX AND SEVERAL WIRES IN THE HARNESS WHILE PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY WITHOUT KEYS IN IT. I HAPPENED TO WALK OUT AND SMELLED IT BURNING. I WAS ABLE TO REMOVE THE POSITIVE BATTERY TERMINAL. CLEARLY IT WAS THE (HDM) HEADLIGHT RELAY STATED IN THIS RECALL. (PHOTO ATTACHED).I'VE SPENT ABOUT $1500.00 IN REPAIRS. THERE ARE MANY BLOGS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM AND BURNED UP A LOT WORSE THAN MINE. IT SEEMS TO BE A REGULAR PROBLEM ENDING WITH FIRES IN THE FUSE BOX.
WHILE DRIVING, THE CAR SUDDENLY LOSES POWER. "STARTING DISABLED DUE TO ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL" MESSAGE SHOWS, THEN REDUCED POWER MESSAGE. THIS HAPPENS WHILE GOING FULL SPEED (INTERSTATE) STOPPED AT REDLIGHT, REDUCED SPEED MAKING A TURN, OR IN PARK IDLING. FIRST DEALER SAID NOTHING WRONG THAT THEY COULD FIND. SECOND SAID TO REPLACE THROTTLE BODY AND BRAKE SWITCH. BOTH OF THESE WERE REPLACED AND IT STILL WILL STOP. CALLED SUPPORT, AND ALL THEY WOULD SAY IS TO TAKE IT FOR DIAGNOSTICS, EVEN THOUGH IT'S BEEN DONE. TWICE.

MY TRANSMISSION/ TRANSAXLE HAS BEEN REBUILT 3 TIMES. WHAT I HAVE RESEARCHED AT THIS TIME IS THAT THE BASE MODEL 4T65E TRANSAXLE DOESN'T REALLY DIFFER IN THE HARD PARTS FOR THE 4T65E-HD THATS IN MY PONTIAC GRAND PRIX GXP. BAD JERKING AND SLIPPING FROM TAKE OFF OR ACCELERATING IS MY PROBLEM. JUST THIS YEAR MY CAR COULDN'T ACCELERATE OVER 40MPH BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM. ANYONE I TALK TO WHO HAS THE SAME MOTOR COMBINATION OF THE LS4 MOTOR WITH THE 4T65E-HD TRANAXLE HAS BEEN DEALING WITH THE SAME SIMILAR ISSUES. WETHER IT BE THE IMPALA SS 2006-2009, MONTE CARLO SS 2006-2007, BUICK LACROSSE SUPER 2008-2009, OR THE PONTIAC GRAND PRIX GXP 2005-2008. THE FRONT WHEEL DRIVE COMBINATION WITH THE POWER IN THE 303 HP MOTOR IS TOO MUCH FOR THE 4T65E-HP TRANSMISSION. I'VE FOUND A WEBSITE THAT CLAIMS THEY HAVE SOLVED THE FLAWS WITH THIS PROBLEM. THE WEBSITE EXPLAINS IN DETAIL WHAT PARTS THEY USE AND HOW IT CAN SUPPORT THE POWER OF THE LS4 MOTOR. PERSONALLY I FEEL LIKE I SHOULD NOT PAY FOR SOMETHING THAT SHOULD'VE BEEN A RECALL CLOSE TO A DECADE AGO.
WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT HIGHWAY SPEED THE AIR BAG LIGHT ON THE DASH BOARD INDICATES THE PASSENGER AIR BAG IS OFF WHEN THERE IS AN ADULT PASSENGER PRESENT IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. IF THE PASSENGER BOUNCES AROUND ON THE SEAT THE LIGHT MAY GO OFF AND IT MAY COME ON RANDOMLY FOR NO APPARENT REASON. THE AIR BAG LIGHT MAY INDICATES THE AIR BAG IS OFF AT ANY TIME IT FEELS LIKE IT. THERE IS NO RHYME OR REASON FOR THE LIGHT GOING OFF OR ON. IF THE AIR BAG IS AN IMPORTANT SAFETY FEATURE THEN THIS TYPE OF A PROBLEM SHOULD BE FIXED ASAP. THANK YOU

CRANK SHAFTS POSITION SENSOR CAUSES THE ENGINE TO SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. RESULTING IN THE LOSS OF POWER STEERING, AND POWER BRAKES. THIS OCCURS AT ALL SPEEDS FROM STOP AND GO TRAFFIC AT LESS THAN 5 MPH TO HIGHWAY SPEEDS OF 70 MPH +. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS ISSUE. ADDING THE RECALL PIECE TO THE KEY DID NOTHING TO REMEDY THE ISSUE. THIS HAS BEEN OCCURRING FOR 2 YEARS NOW.
CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER15V-519 RECALL 14291 THE LEFT HEADLIGHT KEEPS BURNING OUT AND THIS RECALL IS SUPPOSE TO FIX THAT SITUATION BUT THE LOCAL DEALERS SAY NO SOLUTION HAS BEEN FOUND. WHAT ARE THE OWNERS OF THESE VEHICLES SUPPOSE TO DO. I HAVE PLACE 4 OR 5 LIGHTS IN THIS CAR TO DATE. A SOLUTION SURELY HAS BEEN FOUND. IF NOT GM SHOULD BUY THE CAR.

HEADLIGHTS STOPPED WORKING
JUST WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF HDM MODULE WILL CAUSE HEADLIGHTS TO BURN OUT. I KNOW THERE IS A RECALL ON HDM. TOOK CAR IN FOR RECALL AND THEY SAID BOTH DIM HEADLIGHTS WERE BAD.BUT DID NOT CHANGE HDM. BOTH HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT AT SAME TIME. SAT IN GARAGE OVER WEEKEND STARTED CAR MONDAY MORNING NO DIMS.
RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE FOR HDM MODULE. DEALER WANTED TO CHARGE FOR REPAIRS, CONTACTED GM, THEY CONTACTED DEALER AND I WAS TOLD TO BRING CAR IN FOR TEMP. REPAIR, AT NO CHARGE WHICH IS WHAT WAS STATED ON RECALL NOTICE I RECEIVED. I DID SO JUST TO FIND THAT NIGHT THAT NOTHING HAD CHANGED. CONTACTED DEALER AND GM TO GET THE SAME RESULT. I WAS TOLD THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR REPAIRS OR WAIT FOR A PERMENANT FIX. NEW SWITCHES MIGHT BE BAD BUT USUALLY WILL LAST A WHILE BEFORE DOING SO. DEALER NEVER ASK TO SEE CAR TO FOLLOW UP ON PREVIOUS "REPAIR" AND GM SEEMS TO BE TAKING THERE SIDE. I DON'T KNOW WHATS GOING ON BUT HEAD LIGHTS GOING OUT WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY IS VERY DANGEROUS. I'M VERY DISAPPOINTED IN GM AND THIS DEALER. I CAN ONLY HOPE THAT SOMEONE IS PAYING ATTENTION TO THIS AS I AM SURE I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE AT RISK WITH THIS PROBLEM.

LOW BEAMS TURN ON AND OFF DURING HIGHWAY DRIVING. CAR NOT SAFE TO DRIVE.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AT 9:00 P.M. AT NIGHT AND THE HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT ON MY CAR WHILE I WAS DRIVING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE SHIFTER WAS IN THE PARK POSITION AND AFTER EXITING THE VEHICLE, THE DOORS ERRONEOUSLY BECAME LOCKED AND WOULD NOT UNLOCK. AS A RESULT, A ONE-YEAR-OLD CHILD WAS TRAPPED INSIDE THE VEHICLE. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WAS ABLE TO FORCE THE DOOR OPEN. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING, THE LOW BEAM HEAD LIGHTS WOULD SUDDENLY SHUT OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE STREET MY LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS SHUTOFF. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOE A YEAR AND HALF. I CHANGED THE RELAY AND THE NEW ONE GOT SO HOT IT MELTED. SO THEN I CHANGED THE WHOLE FUSE BOX UNDER THE HOOD. IT SEEMED TO HAVE WORKED UNTIL THE OTHER WEEK. NOW ITS THE SAME PROBLEM.
BEGINNING APPROXIMATELY THE END OF MARCH, WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT, BOTH OF MY LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS HAVE GONE OUT AT THE SAME TIME. THEY CAME RIGHT BACK ON AT THAT TIME SO I THOUGHT I HIT A SWITCH. SOMETIME IN MAY IT HAPPENED AGAIN, BUT THE LIGHTS WOULD NOT GO BACK ON SO I USED MY HI BEAMS. THE LOW BEAMS WORKED FINE IN THE MORNING. THIS HAS HAPPENED ABOUT 3 MORE TIMES SINCE THEN AND IS BECOMING MORE FREQUENT. LAST NIGHT ON JULY 23, IT HAPPENED AGAIN ON A DARK, CURVY ROAD AND I ALMOST RAN OFF THE ROAD. THIS MORNING, THEY WORK FINE AGAIN. I CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THIS. I AM SURPRISED AS THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. I NEED TO GET IT REPAIRED, BUT SINCE IT IS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM, I SUSPECT THE DEALER WILL NOT BE ABLE TO FIND THE ROOT CAUSE OR FIX THE PROBLEM.
THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTER IS NOT TRANSMITTING AN ELECTRICAL SIGNAL TO ALLOW THE IGNITION KEY TO TURN TO THE OFF POSITION AND WILL ONLY TURN AS FAR AS THE ACC (ACCESSORY) POSITION SO THAT THE BATTERY CONTINUES TO DRAIN AND DIE LEAVING ME STRANDED IN THE NIGHT AND ON THE ROAD AND IN DANGER OFTEN. A LOCKSMITH SAID CONTINUING TO TURN AND PULL ON THE KEY TRYING TO REMOVE IT MYSELF COULD RESULT IN SERIOUS NECK AND HEAD INJURY IF THE AIRBAG WHERE TO DEPLOY WHILE I AM TRYING TO GET THE KEY UNSTUCK. I TOOK TO CHEVROLET DEALER AND HE SAID HE WOULD NEED A RECALL CODE/NUMBER TO ACCEPT MY VEHICLE FOR REPAIR WITH THIS ISSUE.

I HAD JUST BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE A WEEK BEFORE FROM A USED DEALER. THE FIRST TIME I DROVE AT NIGHT WAS ON MY SON'S GRADUATION. IT WAS ONLY A FEW MINS INTO DRIVING WITH MY LOW BEAMS ON AND THEY JUST SHUT OFF ON ME. I FREAKED IT WAS PICH DARK AND I TRIED EVERYTHING TO GET THEM TO COME ON. I TURNED THEM ON BRIGHT AND MY BRIGHTS WORKED BUT THE LOW BEAM WAS STILL OFF. A FEW MINS LATER THE LOW BEAM FINALLY CAME BACK ON. THEN IT DID IT AGAIN A FEW MINS LATER. THE LOW BEAM WILL DO THIS ALL THE TIME EVEN THE RUNNING LIGHTS. I HAVE SEARCHED FOR AN ANSWER TO THIS AND FOUND THAT MY YEAR MODEL IS NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS PROBLEM. THIS CAN TRULY CAUSE A MAJOR ACCIDENT. I AM VERY GRATEFUL I WAS THE ONLY ONE ON THAT ROAD THAT NIGHT IT FIRST HAPPENED TO ME.
I OWN A 2007 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX GT. WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE LOW BEAM OF BOTH HEADLIGHTS AUTOMATICALLY TURN OFF WITH NO WARNING. IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND I HAVE SEEN MULTIPLE OTHER COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME NATURE ON THIS WEBSITE. PONTIAC/GM NEED TO ISSUE A FIX FOR THIS IMMEDIATELY. NO ONE SHOULD HAVE TO DIE FROM THIS ISSUE!!
I RECENTLY PURCHASED A USED 2007 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX GT SEDAN. SHORTLY AFTER DRIVING THE VEHICLE OFF OF THE LOT, I WENT TO TURN ONTO A STREET TRAVELING ROUGHLY FIVE TO SEVEN MILES PER HOUR, AND THE TRACTION CONTROL AND ABS SENSOR LIGHT BOTH REGISTERED ACROSS THE SYSTEM INFORMATION SCREEN AND NOTED THAT I NEEDED TO SERVICE THE ABS SYSTEM AND TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK THE VEHICLE TO MY MECHANIC WHO SUGGESTED THAT WE START LOOKING ONLINE TO SEE IF THERE WERE A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE. AFTERLOOKING ONLINE, WE NOTED THAT MULTIPLE OTHERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THE EXACT SAME ISSUE. MOST OF THE FIXES THAT WE HAVE SEEN THAT OTHERS HAVE TRIED WE HAVE ALSO TRIED, BUT NOTHING SEEMS TO FIX THE ISSUE. NOW THE TRACTION CONTROL AND ABS SYSTEM LIGHT ARE ON 90 PERCENT OF THE TIME AND IT HAS BECOME AN ISSUE WITH THE BRAKES. AT APPROXIMATELY 12 A.M. THIS MORNING, I TRIED TO STOP THE VEHICLE AND IT WOULD NOT RESPOND TO THE BRAKES. THERE WAS A GRINDING SOUND COMING FROM THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE CAR, ESPECIALLY WHEN I TRIED TO TURN THE WHEEL TO THE LEFT VERY HARD TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR TO STOP BY HITTING THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT BOTH THE TRACTION CONTROL AND ABS LIGHTS WERE NOT REGISTERING ON THE SCREEN. NOW THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT HAS STARTED TO APPEAR EVERY TIME I START THE CAR. THIS IS THE FIFTH OR SIXTH TIME IN THE LAST MONTH THAT THE BRAKES HAVE NOT RESPONDED. MY MECHANIC AND I ARE BOTH AT OUR WITS END TRYING TO FIGURE THIS ISSUE OUT. IT IS UNSAFE FOR ME TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AS I NEVER KNOW WHEN THE BRAKES WILL NOT RESPOND. WE ARE LOOKING INTO REPLACING THE ABS MODULE AT THIS POINT AS A VERY LAST RESORT, BUT IT IS EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE. *TR
THE CAR DROVE FINE DURING THE DAY WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS. THE DAY WAS A WARM SUNNY DAY. I PARKED THE CAR AT CHURCH AND WENT INSIDE. 45 MIN. - 1 HOUR AFTER PARKING THE CARE I WAS ASKED TO GO OUTSIDE. WHEN I GOT OUTSIDE I WAS TOLD MY CAR WAS SMOKING WITH THE LIGHTS FLASHING AND WIPERS RUNNING. UPON OPENING THE HOOD I FOUND THE FUSE BOX WAS COMPLETELY MELTED THROUGH WITH THE WIREHARNESS MELTED THROUGH WHERE IT PLUGS INTO THE FUSE BOX. THE WIREHARNESS ACROSS THE ENGINE WAS ALSO MELTED ACROSS THE TOP OF THE ENGINE. *TR
WHEN I GOT OFF WORK I TRIED TO START MY CAR BUT THE BATTERY WAS DEAD. THE CAR WAS JUMPED OFF. THE CAR OPERATED FINE BUT THE HEADLIGHTS WOULD NOT SHUT OFF TO DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS. AFTER DRIVING THE CAR FOR 10 MINUTES, YOU COULD SMELL BURNING ELECTRICAL COMPONENT'S. AFTER INSPECTING THE RELAYS WE FOUND THE HEADLIGHT RELAY WAS ALMOST COMPLETELY MELTED DOWN. THE RELAY WAS CHANGED AND THE CAR SEEMED TO BE WORKING OKAY. *TR
AFTER TRAVELING ABOUT 150 MILES FROM MACON, GA, IN THE MORNING OF THE 16TH, THE CAR SHUT DOWN ON I-75 IN HEAVY TRAFFIC GOING 75 MPH IN THE PASSING LANE. WE HAD NO ENGINE POWER, POWER STEERING OR BRAKES, BUT MANAGED TO COAST TO THE SHOULDER. I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR AFTER A FEW MINUTES ONLY TO HAVE IT STALL OUT AFTER 10 OR 15 MILES. THE ONLY WARNING WAS 2 CHIMES FROM THE CAR BEFORE TOTAL SHUT DOWN. WE DID HAVE FLASHER LIGHTS AND WERE ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR EACH TIME. THIS HAPPENED ABOUT 6 OR 8 TIMES. WE STOPPED AT SEVERAL AUTO PARTS PLACES TO SEE IF WE COULD FIND OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS, BUT NO LUCK. WE WERE ABLE TO GET TO A CHEVROLET DEALER IN ASHBURN, GA (PARKER CHEVROLET). THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM, OR DIDN'T WANT TO DEAL WITH IT. POOR SERVICE! THEY SAID EVERYTHING WAS OKAY! JUST 2 MILES FROM THE DEALERSHIP, IT STALLED AGAIN. WE MANAGED TO GET TO GAINESVILLE, FL WHERE THE CLOSEST CHEVROLET DEALER WAS LOCATED. WE TALKED TO [XXX] FROM GAINESVILLE AUTOMOTIVE CHEVROLET WHO WAS A CALMING VOICE AFTER OUR EXPERIENCE. SHE GAVE US A HOTEL RECOMMENDATION FOR THE NIGHT AND SAID TO BRING THE CAR IN AT 7 AM THE FOLLOWING MORNING. SHE WAS GREAT, AND SO WAS THE ENTIRE STAFF! THEY GOT RIGHT TO WORK ON THE CAR THE NEXT DAY AT 7 AM. AFTER ABOUT AT HOUR, THE SERVICE MANAGER INFORMED US THEY FOUND THE PROBLEM, BUT IT WOULD REQUIRE A NEW COMPUTER AT A COST OF $940 AND COULD BE BACK ON THE ROAD BY NOON. WE WERE BACK ON THE ROAD BY 12:30. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR
BOUGHT CAR ON APRIL 1, 2015, WHEN WE DID TEST DRIVE, STEERING MADE WEIRD NOISE AND STEERING WAS REAL HARD TO TURN WHEEL. TOLD DEALERSHIP WOULDN'T BUY CAR UNLESS THEY HAD IT LOOKED AND FIXED. DEALER LOOKED AND SAID THEY HAD TO REPLACE SOMETHING IN THE STEERING SHAFT AND THEY WOULD HAVE TO ORDER PART AND WHEN IT CAME WE BRING CAR IN, BUT CAR WAS OK TO DRIVE UNTIL THEN. GOT A WORK ORDER FROM DEALER SHOWING THEY WOULD COVER COST TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THE NEXT MORNING WHILE MY BOYFRIEND WAS DRIVING CAR STEERING GOT REAL HARD TO TURN WHEEL AND HE CRASHED INTO TWO PARKED CARS AND OUR CAR FLIPPED AND AIR BAGS WENT OFF. HE HIT HEAD AND WAS KNOCKED OUT, CHEST PAIN AND BACK AND SHOULDER PAIN FROM THIS. CAR IS A COMPLETE LOSS TO US. *TR

THE KEY BROKE OFF IN THE IGNITION STUCK ON ACCESSORY UNTIL THE PART CAME IN I WOULD HAVE TO UNHOOK THE BATTERY EVERY TIME I LEFT MY CAR FOR LONG PERIODS SO THE BATTERY WOULD NOT DRAIN POWER. ONE TIME I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND THE CABLE CAME OFF BECAUSE OF BEING LOOSENED FROM MULTIPLE REMOVAL. I LOST ALL POWER DRIVING AT 70MPH I DID NOT PANIC I SIMPLY PULLED OVER AND WAITED FOR A JUMP START HOWEVER I COULD SEE THIS RESULTING IN A BAD ACCIDENT. *TR
WHEN I WOULD COME TO A STOP AND HIT THE GAS TO TAKE OFF THE CAR HESITATE TO GO RPMS GOING UP BUT THE CAR WOULD ACT LIKE IT WAS NOT IN GEAR. VERY UPSET WITH THE FACT THAT GENERAL MOTORS IS NOT GIVING LOANER VEHICLE TO CONSUMERS WHO HAVE IGNITION RECALL 14350. I HAVE A YOUNG CHILD AND I AM NOT OKAY PUTTING HIS LIFE IN DANGER WHEN I KNOW IT CAN BE AVOIDED. GM SAID THAT IT IS NOT DANGEROUS AND PARTS MAY BECOME AVAILABLE AFTER OCTOBER 1ST. HOWEVER, IF MY CAR'S IGNITION WERE TO MOVE FROM THE RUN POSITION WHILE I AM DRIVING ENGINE POWER, POWER STEERING, AND POWER BRAKING MAY BE EFFECTED INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH. IF THE IGNITION SWITCH IS NOT IN THE RUN POSITION, THE AIR BAGS MAY NOT DEPLOY IF THE VEHICLE IS INVOLVED IN A CRASH, INCREASING THE RISK OF INJURY OR FATALITY. THIS IS FROM THE RECALL NOTICE GM IS SENDING OUT. YET THEY ARE TELLING ME OVER THE PHONE THAT IT IS SAFE TO DRIVE AND I SHOULDN'T WORRY ABOUT IT. OVER THE PAST 3 YEARS AT RANDOM OCCASIONS THE LOW BEAMS WOULD JUST TURN OFF IN MY CAR WHILE DRIVING. LUCKILY, THE HIGH BEAMS HAVE ALWAYS WORKED SO I COULD CONTINUE TO DRIVE. I RESEARCHED HOW TO FIX THE ISSUE, AND I ENDED UP REPLACING THE RELAY TO THE LOW BEAMS TWICE SINCE OCT. 2011. REPLACING THE RELAY ALWAYS SEEMED TO CORRECT THE ISSUE. I WAS ALWAYS UNDER THE IMPRESSION THAT IT WAS JUST A FAULTY RELAY. LAST NIGHT, MY WIFE RETURNED HOME FROM DINNER AND THE HEADLIGHTS WOULD NOT TURN OFF. SHE CALLED ME TO ASK WHAT SHE SHOULD DO. I ADVISED HER TO EITHER DISCONNECT THE BATTERY OR REMOVE THE RELAY THAT HAS BEEN A PROBLEM IN THE PAST UNTIL I COULD COME HOME AND TAKE A LOOK AT IT. AS SHE OPENED THE HOOD SHE NOTICED A BURNING SMELL. IT WAS DARK SO SHE WENT TO GRAB A FLASHLIGHT, AND UPON RETURNING THE RELAY PANEL WAS NOW ON FIRE. THANKFULLY THERE WAS A FIRE EXTINGUISHER NEARBY FOR HER TO EXTINGUISH THE FLAMES BEFORE IT GOT OUT OF HAND. OUR 3 YEAR OLD AND 8 MONTH OLD SONS HAD ALSO JUST GOTTEN OUT OF THE CAR AS WELL. I CRINGE THINKING ABOUT WHAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED HAD MY FAMILY BEEN DRIVING AN EXTRA 10 MINUTES WHEN THIS FIRE BEGAN, OR IF MY WIFE COULDN'T HAVE RETURNED IN TIME WITH A FIRE EXTINGUISHER. ONLY HI BEAMS WORKED CONSISTENTLY. AS OF THIS PAST WEEK, THE LOW BEAM HEAD LAMPS ARE NO LONGER WORKING FOR ANY LENGTH OF TIME. A LOCAL MECHANIC HAS BEEN ENGAGED TO TROUBLESHOOT POSSIBLE CAUSES. AFTER READING ONLINE COMPLAINTS, HE WILL REVIEW THE FUSE BLOCK, RELAY AND CONNECTIONS TO THE COMPUTER TO DETERMINE WHERE THE BREAKDOWN OCCURS. WE ARE IN AGREEMENT WITH OTHER COMMENTS POSTED ON THIS SITE. IT IS VERY SCARY THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENS. FORTUNATELY, THE 20-YEAR OLD DRIVER WAS FAMILIAR WITH THAT PARTICULAR CURVE AND HAD THE PRESENCE OF MIND TO HIT THE HIGH BEAMS RIGHT AWAY. I'M NOT CONFIDENT ALL DRIVERS WOULD RECOVER SO QUICKLY UNDER SUCH CIRCUMSTANCES. IT ONLY TAKES A COUPLE SECONDS TO ENGAGE THE HI BEAMS IF IT'S YOUR VEHICLE AND YOU KNOW THEIR PLACEMENT. HOWEVER, PEOPLE ARE LIKELY TO FUMBLE AND SWITCH FROM AUTO TO MANUAL FOR THE LOW BEAMS FIRST BEFORE ENGAGING THE HI BEAMS. THAT EXTRA TIME COULD COST LIVES. IT IS A SHAME THAT AFTER ALL THESE COMPLAINTS AND FIRES, THERE'S NO RECALL YET. *TR
LEAVING MY CHILD'S DAY CARE PROVIDER MY HUSBAND NOTICED THE HEADLIGHTS WERE NOT WORKING. MY HUSBAND CONTINUED TO DRIVE HOME THINKING THE FUSE HAD BLOWN. HE HAD REPLACED THE FUSE ABOUT 5 MONTHS AGO AND THOUGHT IT WAS STRANGE TO HAVE IT BLOWN OUT AGAIN SO SOON. HE PULLED INTO THE GARAGE AND TOOK OUR DAUGHTER INSIDE. HE WENT BACK TO THE GARAGE TO CHECK IT OUT MORE IN DETAIL AND IMMEDIATELY SMELLED BURNT PLASTIC. HE THEN OPENED THE HOOD AND NOTICED THE FUSE BLOCK WAS MELTED WHERE THE RECENT RELAY WAS REPLACED. *TR
HUSBAND WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK, COMING AROUND CURVE AND COULD NOT TURN THE WHEEL/ STEER TO THE RIGHT TO MAKE THE TURN.... CRASHED HEAD ON WITH A DODGE RAM 3500 TRUCK. CAR IS TOTALLED. HUSBAND WAS RUSHED TO EMERGENCY ROOM WITH A CONCUSSION, CERVICAL SPRAIN, AND HIP CONTUSION. THANK GOD MY CHILDREN WERE NOT IN THE CAR. *TR
I WENT TO WORK ON JULY 15, 2014, AFTER DROPPING MY DAUGHTER OFF AT HER GRANDMOTHERS. I WORKED FOR 8 HOURS AND AS I WAS LEAVING I COULD NOT GET THE CAR TO TURN OVER. MY DOME LIGHT WAS IN THE OFF POSITION & MY HEADLIGHTS WERE IN THE AUTO POSITION. I COULD NOT FIGURE OUT WHY MY CAR WAS DEAD. I CALLED MY FIANC TO COME JUMP MY CAR. WHEN HE ARRIVED AND OPENED THE HOOD HE IMMEDIATELY SMELLED SOMETHING BURNING. HE NOTICED THAT MY FUSE BOX UNDER THE HOOD WAS WARPED AND WHEN HE OPENED IT SMOKE ROLLED OUT AND 1 RELAY SWITCH WAS SO BURNT/MELTED IT WAS BLACK & FLAKEY AND HAD BEGAN TO MELT THE OTHER RELAYS AROUND IT. MY FIANC HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED HOME. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION IT HAS ALSO DAMAGED THE WIRING HARNESS. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS AND I HAVE DISCOVERED THAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE BEEN REPORTING THIS SAME PROBLEM ONLINE FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS NOW. SOME VEHICLES HAVE EVEN HAD A FIRE UNDER THE HOOD OF THEIR CARS. THIS IS A HAZARD TO ANYONE WHO DRIVES THE VEHICLE AND TO THOSE WHO ARE AROUND THE VEHICLE IF A FIRE DOES BREAK OUT. *TR
I, THE OWNER OF A 2007 GRAND PRIX SEDAN, OPERATING SAID VEHICLE ON A NEIGHBORHOOD STREET AT THE SPEED OF 20 MPH EXPERIENCED STALLED VEHICLE. WAS UNABLE TO STEER, BRAKE, AND REALIZED THE VEHICLE HAD STALLED WHILE DRIVING. APPLIED EMERGENCY BRAKE IN ORDER TO COME TO A CONTROLLED STOP TO PREVENT CRASHING INTO TRAFFIC. TURNED THE IGNITION KEY COMPLETELY OFF, PLACE VEHICLE IN PARK, AND ATTEMPTED TO RESTART VEHICLE. ELECTRIC IGNITION SWITCH CONTINUED TO TRY TO START THE VEHICLE, TAKING 3 ATTEMPTS BEFORE THE IGNITION SWITCH ALLOWED VEHICLE TO START. GM MUST ADDRESS THIS OR IT WILL COST MORE THAN JUST PARTS, IT WILL DO IT AGAIN AND NO ONE CAN SAY WHERE MY FAMILY AND I MAY EXPERIENCE THIS AGAIN. IT WAS A TERRIFYING EXPERIENCE TO HAVE NO CONTROL WHILE CAR IS IN MOTION WITH PASSENGERS IN THE VEHICLE. *TR
MY LOW BEAM HEAD LIGHTS GO OFF INTERMITTENTLY. WE HAVE REPLACED THE RELAY UNDER THE HOOD AS WELL AS SENSORS. THIS HAPPENS ALMOST EVERY TIME WE DRIVE. CLEARLY ITS QUITE A SAFETY ISSUE, THEY HAVE SHUT OFF UNEXPECTEDLY WHILE DRIVING AT A HIGH SPEED ON THE INTERSTATE IN THE PITCH BLACK OF NIGHT. *TR
THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED WE HAVE ALREADY FIXED THIS PROBLEM 3 TIMES WITCH THE SWITCH COST US 210.00 DOLLARS TO HAVE REPLACED AND THAT IS JUST THE PART. I WILL BE DRIVING AT NIGHT AND MY LIGHTS JUST TURN OFF AND NEVER COME BACK ON!!! I HAVE ALMOST BEEN IN A WRECK DUE TO THIS PROBLEM SO I BELIEVE SOMEONE NEEDS TO DO SOME RESEARCH ON THE PONTIAC CONTROL SWITCH THAT OPERATES LIGHTS BLINKERS CRUISE CONTROL. *TR
VEHICLE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT SHIFT GEARS PROPERLY, THEN SHIFTED EXTREMELY HARD INTO GEAR. THIS IS A GRAND PRIX GXP MODEL AND AS I HAVE RESEARCHED, THIS TRANSMISSION FAILS AT AN EXCESSIVE RATE. IT IS SUPPOSEDLY A HEAVY DUTY MODEL OF THE TRANSAXLES USED IN THE V6 MODEL, HOWEVER IT RUNS VERY HOT ( FACTORY EXTERNAL COOLER SHOULD HAVE BEEN USED) AND WEARS OUT VERY EARLY. IT HAS FAILED TO SHIFT PROPERLY NUMEROUS TIMES, CAUSING AN UNSAFE CONDITION FOR THE VEHICLE AND DRIVER. *TR
I PURCHASE VEHICLE IN 02/19/2014 AND HAD PROBLEMS FROM WATER PUMP CAR WILL NOT GO IN REVERSE AND IT GET STUCK WHEN YOU PLACE IT IN DRIVE IT PRESS ON THE GAS PEDAL LIKE ITS IN PARK. WHEN I'M SITTING ON A SLIGHT HILL IT GOES IN REVERSE AND SHUTS COMPLETELY OFF. THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE GOES UP AND I HAVEN'T DROVE THE CAR FOR A GOOD 15 MIN THE CAR HAS BEEN IN THE REPAIR 4 TIMES SINCE I'VE PURCHASE IT. I HEAR A RATTLE IN THE STEERING WHEEL. I'VE HAD A TRANSMISSION INSTALL, WATER PUMP REAR TRAILER ARMS.TOOK VEHICLE TO SHOP 4TH TIME AND THEY TELL ME NOTHING IS WRONG I PURCHASE A WARRANTY AND I STILL HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FEES. I HEAR RATTLING IN THE STEERING WHEEL. I REACH OUT TO THE RECALL WEBSITE FOR PONTIAC AND ENTER VIN NUMBER JUST TO FIND OUT THERE IS NO RECALL. THE GAS TANK WHEN I SCREW THE CAP ITS NOT TIGHTENING SECURELY BUT I ALSO SAW THAT WAS A RECALL ON THAT AS WELL. I FEEL LIKE I PURCHASE A PIECE OF JUNK WHEN I FEEL LIKE I'M ON THE ROAD MY LIFE IS IN DANGER. *TR
MY WIFE AND I WERE DRIVING HOME FROM HOUSTON AIRPORT. THE LOW BEAM LIGHTS SHUT OFF AND WE WE'RE UNABLE TO GET THEM TO TURN BACK ON WE PULLED OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. WE WERE ABLE TO USE THE HIGH BEAMS BUT THE LOW BEAMS DID NOT WORK AFTER 2 MINUTES THEY CAME BACK ON BY THERE SELF. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME IN THE PAST ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION. *TR
PUSH BUTTON TO TURN ON AC HAD NOT BEEN WORKING FRO 1 WEEK. WAS TOLD IT WAS MOST LIKELY THE RELAY FUSE. DROVE CAR TO WORK WITHOUT COMPLICATIONS. WORKED 13 HRS AND WHEN I GOT OFF WORK CAR STARTED WITHOUT PROBLEMS. NOTICED BOTH THE HEAD LIGHTS WHERE NOT WORKING. HIGH BEAMS WORKED FINE AND SO DID THE FOG LIGHTS, BUT THE LOW BEAMS WOULDN'T LIGHT UP. I CHECKED THE 'UNDER THE HOOD FUSE BOX'. IT LOOKED FINE FROM THE OUTSIDE, BUT ONCE I OPENED THE LID ON THE BOX I SAW THE PROBLEM. THE RELAY FUSE HAD CAUGHT FIRE AND MELTED THE FUSE NEXT TO IT CAUSING THEM TO FUSE TOGETHER. THE BOARD UNDER THEM HAD ALSO MELTED, ALONG SOME OF THE FUSE AREAS NEXT TO THEM. ALL OF THE OTHER FUSES HAD STICKY BURNT PLASTIC ON THEM, ALONG WITH THE INSIDE OF THE LID. *TR
1) LOW BEAM HEAD LIGHTS WOULD JUST TURN OFF WITHOUT ANY APPARENT REASON. HIGH BEAM WORKS OK. 2) WHEN TAKING THE STEPS TO USE TURN SIGNAL HANDLE TO SIGNAL A LEFT TURN, THE HIGH BEAM HEADLIGHTS WOULD TURN ON. THIS COULD BE CAUSED BY A SHORTED CIRCUIT IN THE STEERING COLUMN OR EXCESSIVE WEAR. THIS INCIDENT APPEAR TO BE CONNECTED WITH THE LOW BEAM HEAD LIGHTS TURNING OFF FOR NO APPARENT REASON. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX GT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HEADLIGHTS FAILED TO WORK SPORADICALLY. ON 12/12/13, CAR WOULDN'T ACCELERATE PROPERLY IN 1ST GEAR WHEN GAS PEDAL WAS PUSHED AND TRANSMISSION SHIFTED ROUGHLY THROUGH REMAINING GEARS. TRANSMISSION FLUID TEMP WAS 220+ DEGREES. TOOK CAR TO GM DEALERSHIP, WAS TOLD TCM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, ALONG WITH TRANSMISSION FLUID FLUSH AND REFILL. DID AS RECOMMENDED. ON 2/4/14, AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE WHEN LIGHT TURNED GREEN AND CAR WOULDN'T MOVE IN ANY GEAR. TRANS FLUID TEMP WAS FINE. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OR OTHER WARNINGS. CALLED ONSTAR, HAD IT TOWED TO THE SAME GM DEALERSHIP, AND WAS TOLD THAT TRANSMISSION PAN WAS FILLED WITH METAL FLAKES. THERE WERE NO METAL FLAKES AS OF 12/12/13, AND NO ISSUES BETWEEN THOSE DATES. BOUGHT A REBUILT TRANSMISSION AND PICKED UP CAR 3/12/14. FILING MY COMPLAINT DUE TO THE EXCESSIVE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS SPECIFIC TRANSMISSION.

THE DRIVER OF THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED A CONCUSSION AND A BACK INJURY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED OF THE INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED FROM THE SCENE AND INSPECTED BY INVESTIGATORS WHO COULD NOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE BECAUSE THE FUEL TANK WAS LOCATED IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE 20,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 64900.
WHILE DRIVING AT ABOUT 35-40 MPH MY CAR ENGINE SHUT OFF, WHEEL AND BREAKS TOO AND WOULD NOT START AGAIN. THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO A CAR SHOP TO BE LOOKED AT AND FIXED. ONCE THE CAR WAS THERE IT STARTED FINE AND WAS ABLE TO BE DRIVEN FOR SHORT DISTANCES BEFORE THE ENGINE WOULD SHUT OFF AGAIN. IT TOOK ABOUT 2 WEEKS TO FINALLY FIGURE OUT IT WAS A FUSE IN THE ENGINE THAT WAS NOT LETTING POWER THROUGH. WELL, THE SAME PROBLEM HAPPENED IN 2013 SUMMER WHERE THE SAME PART HAD TO BE REPLACED AGAIN. *TR
I HAD BEEN HAVING A FEW PROBLEMS WITH THE HEADLIGHTS. THE WOULD JUST RANDOMLY TURN OFF AT NIGHT. THEY ONLY WORKED WHEN THEY WANTED TO. ON THE MORNING OF OCTOBER 17TH I STOPPED AT THE STORE ON MY WAY TO SCHOOL AND ONCE I CAME OUT OF THE STORE (ABOUT 10 MINUTES LATER) I SMELT SOMETHING BURNING AND NOTICED SMOKE WAS COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. WHEN THE HOOD WAS POPPED THE RELAY BOX WAS COMPLETELY MELTED AND THE WIRING HARNESS HAD A FIRE STARTING TO IGNITE. I CAUGHT IT RIGHT AFTER IT STARTED. GM CLAIMS THEY KNOW NOTHING OF IT AND IS REFUSING TO COVER THE COSTS. AFTER READING MANY INSTANCES ON THIS I WOULD LIKE HELP IN GETTING SOMETHING STARTED. THERE IS A SERIOUS DEFECT WITH THIS VEHICLE. THANKFULLY MY CHILD WAS ALREADY DROPPED OFF AT SCHOOL AND NO ONE WAS HURT. I KNOW GM KNOWS OF THIS ISSUE AND DOESN'T WANT TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY. MY CAR IS STILL AT THE DEALERSHIP AND IS COSTING CLOSE TO $3,000 TO HAVE ALL OF THESE PARTS REPLACED. I THINK GM NEEDS TO STEP UP AND YOU ARE THE GUYS THAT ARE GOING TO HAVE TO MAKE THEM TAKE RESPONSIBILITY. I AM DOING EVERYTHING IN MY POWER TO TRY TO GET A RECALL STARTED AND TO HAVE THEM PAY FOR THEIR FAULTS. PLEASE HELP!!!!! *TR
I NOTICED ALMOST IMMEDIATELY AFTER PURCHASING THIS AUTOMOBILE THAT THERE WAS A VERY LOUD RATTLING NOISE SEEMING TO COME FROM THE DASH AREA. I HAVE IGNORED IT UNTIL TODAY WHEN MY SON WAS DRIVING ME TO CHURCH. HE TOLD ME THAT I NEEDED TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT BECAUSE IT COULD BE SERIOUS. THAT IS WHY I AM NOW CHECKING INTO RECALL NOTICES FOR THIS VEHICLE. *TR

ANOTHER GXP TRANSMISSION ISSUE... THERE SEEMS TO BE A VERY HIGH NUMBER OF ISSUES W/THE GXP TRANSMISSIONS CONSIDERING HOW FEW THEY SELL SINCE IT'S THE TOP OF THE LINE VERSION W/THE V8 ENGINE. SEEMS LIKE THEY TRIED TO USE THE TRANSMISSION FROM THE LOWER MODELS W/THE V6 ENGINES & IT'S NOT HOLDING UP TO THE ENGINE POWER. WHEN IS THERE FINALLY GOING TO BE A RECALL FOR THE DESIGN ISSUE/POOR QUALITY? I HAD THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE THE TRANSMISSION AT ~50K MILES AS PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE & IT WAS RUNNING FINE AT THE TIME. I DON'T SPEND A LOT OF TIME AT HIGH SPEEDS ON THE HIGHWAY & DON'T DRIVE IT HARD, BUT THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AFTER ~72,200 MILES. EARLY FEB 2013, THE TRANSMISSION STARTED SLIPPING FOR A FRACTION OF A SECOND ~3RD TO 4TH. BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, BUT THE TECHNICIAN DID NOT NOTICE ANYTHING UNUSUAL DURING THE TEST DRIVE & SAID TO BRING IT BACK IF IT GOT WORSE. ON 2/26/13 I DROVE IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPING WAS GETTING WORSE & IT ALSO STARTED MAKING A NOISE. THE NIGHT I DROPPED IT OFF, THE SERVICE REP WATCHED ME PUT IT IN REVERSE & DRIVE TO MOVE THE CAR, BUT IT WASN'T MAKING ANY NOISE OR SLIPPING AT THAT TIME. I AGREED TO LEAVE IT OVERNIGHT SO THEY COULD SEE IF IT MADE NOISE WHEN IT WAS COLD IN THE MORNING. THE NEXT DAY, HE CALLED ME TO SAY THE TRANSMISSION DOESN'T WORK AT ALL ANYMORE & NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $3,349. FORTUNATELY IT DIDN'T FAIL AS I WAS PULLING OUT ON THE BUSY CROSSROADS & TAKE ON MY WAY TO WORK OR IT COULD'VE BEEN A SERIOUS PROBLEM. *TR

I WAS ON MY WAY TO WORK WHEN MY CAR JUST STOPPED MOVING. I WAS BARELY ABLE TO GET OFF OF THE ROAD WITHOUT BEING HIT BY THE CAR BEHIND ME. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP. THE CAR WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY SO THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED. HOWEVER, LESS THAN 10,000 MILES LATER THE 'NEW' TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPING BADLY. I CAN'T AFFORD THE $2800 PLUS LABOR TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED AGAIN SO I GUESS I WILL JUST HAVE TO HOPE THAT I DON'T GET RAN OVER WHEN THE TRANSMISSION GOES OUT AGAIN. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS CAR I HAVE FOUND THAT TRANSMISSION FAILURE IS COMMON. WHY IS THIS NOT CONSIDERED A DANGER NOT ONLY TO THE PEOPLE IN THE CAR BUT TO THE OTHER PEOPLE ON THE ROAD THAT THE CAR COULD STALL IN FRONT OF? *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH AND APPROACHING A TRAFFIC STOP SIGNAL WHEN DURING BRAKING, THE TRANSMISSION BEGAN TO SLIP. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 66,000.
I HAVE HAD MY 2007 GRAND PRIX FOR 5 YEARS NOW AND IT HAS ABOUT 55,000 MILES ON IT. IN NOVEMBER OF 2011, I PAID CENTURY BUICK GMC (TAMPA, FL) TO REPLACE THE IGNITION MODULE AND CRANK SENSOR BECAUSE MY CAR HAD DIED WHILE ON MY WAY TO WORK. ON OCTOBER 1, 2012, I BROUGHT MY CAR IN BECAUSE IT AGAIN DIED WHILE DRIVING TO WORK. AT THIS POINT, I PAID ANOTHER $550 TO REPLACE THE IGNITION MODULE SINCE I DID NOT REALIZE IT WAS THE SAME PART FROM THE YEAR BEFORE. THEN AGAIN ON SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 10, 2012, MY CAR DIED WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY (70 MPH) AT NIGHT. IT WAS A VERY UPSETTING, FRUSTRATING AND SCARY SITUATION TO BE IN AND I CAN?T IMAGINE IF I HAD BEEN ALONE AND STRANDED. WHEN I FINALLY HEARD FROM THE DEALER ON MONDAY, THEY SIMPLY SAID I NEEDED TO REPLACE THE CRANK SENSOR. WHEN I TOLD HIM THAT THEY SUPPOSEDLY FIXED THIS PROBLEM A MONTH AGO, HE THEN SAID THEY WOULD REPLACE THE PART FOR FREE. SINCE I WAS NOT SATISFIED WITH THIS RESPONSE TO THE PROBLEM, I ASKED TO SEE THEIR COPY OF MY FILE TO REVIEW IT AND BROUGHT IT TO THEIR ATTENTION THAT I HAD ALREADY PAID TO REPLACE THESE PARTS A YEAR AGO. THEY SEEMED TO BE SURPRISED ABOUT THIS AND SAID THEY WOULD SUBMIT PAPERS FOR REIMBURSEMENT. IN THE END, I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT I MUST HAVE RECEIVED TWO SETS OF FAULTY PARTS. I ASKED IF THERE COULD BE AN UNDERLYING PROBLEM TO CAUSE THESE PARTS TO GO BAD AND THEIR RESPONSE WAS "NOT THAT THEY CAN SEE." I THEN DROVE AWAY AFTER THEY SAID THEY HAD FIXED THE CAR AND I BROUGHT IT BACK WITHIN TWO HOURS BECAUSE IT WAS NOT DRIVING CORRECTLY. LATER THAT DAY, I WAS TOLD THEY HAD NOT REPLACED THE SPARK PLUG CORRECTLY AND THAT IT IS NOW FIXED. *TR
CAR STALLED AT OPERATING TEMPERATURE WITH NO WARNING LIGHTS INDICATED ONLY INDICATION WAS HARD TO STEER AND HARD TO BRAKE BECAUSE OF ENGINE STALLING. HAD CAR TOWED TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY DID A DIAGNOSTIC AND PIN POINT TEST. REPLACED CRANK POSITION SENSOR AND IGNITION CONTROL MODULE. THE CAR AGAIN STALLED ON THEM WITH NO WARNING LIGHT INDICATIONS ONLY THAT STATED ABOVE. THE CAR IS A SAFETY HAZARD ON THE ROAD BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE. THE CAR STALLS WHEN WARM AND NO TIED TO ANY SPECIFIC SPEED. THIS CAR HAS STALLED ON ME SEVERAL TIMES NOW AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS EVEN AT HIGHWAY SPEED OF 55 MPH. CURRENTLY HAVE FILED A COMPLAINT WITH PONTIAC CUSTOMER SERVICE AND DEALERSHIP STILL HAS THE CAR AND CURRENTLY NOT FIXED THE PROBLEM. THIS ISSUE SEEMS TO OCCUR ON THE GRAND PRIX FOR YEARS 1998 TO 2007 WITH NO ANSWER TO WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE LOOKED SERIOUSLY BECAUSE IT PUTS ALL DRIVERS ON THE ROAD IN SERIOUS HARM AND COULD SERIOUS ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF A CAR STALLING AT ANYTIME. I HAVE HAD THE IGNITION CONTROL MODULE REPLACED TWO TIMES IN THE LAST WEEK AND THE IGNITION COILS AND WIRES ALONG WITH THE SPARK PLUGS WITH THE SAME RESULT OF CAR STALLING WHEN CAR REACHES OPERATING TEMPERATURES. *TR
THE LOW BEAMS JUST STOPPED WORKING BUT ALL OTHER LIGHTS WERE FINE. FIRST IT HAPPENED WHEN WE WERE DRIVING AT NIGHT TO GO HOME. TRIED ALL TYPES OF WAYS SUCH AS SET THE ALARM OFF ON THE CAR WHICH WORKED FOR A FEW MINUTES TO RESET THE LIGHTS. THEN THE LOW BEAMS WENT OFF AGAIN. WE REPLACED THE HEADLIGHTS, THE FUSE FOR THE HEADLAMPS. THIS WORKED FOR ABOUT THREE WEEKS, THEN AGAIN DRIVING AT NIGHT THEY TURNED OFF. NOTHING WORKED TO GET THE LOW BEAMS BACK ON. FOUND OUT THE FUSE CAUGHT ON FIRE IN THE FUSE BOX AND NOW WE ARE HAVING TO REPLACE THE RELAY BOX AS WELL PLUS IT DAMAGED OTHER FUSES. SO WE HAVE TO REPLACE THOSE TOO. I FEEL THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVERS NOT ONLY DRIVING THE CAR BUT OTHER CARS AROUND US AT THAT TIME. *TR
THE FIRST INCIDENT HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING THE CAR IT JUST STOPPED AFTER I MADE A TURN AND READ DISABLED DUE TO ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY. AFTER A FEW MOMENTS IT JUST RESTARTED. THE LIGHTS AND EVERYTHING STILL WORK THE CAR WILL JUST NOT CRANK BACK UP UNTIL AFTER A FEW MOMENTS. THIS HAS HAPPENED APPROXIMATELY 7 TIMES. I TAKE THE KEY OUT AND WAIT FOR ABOUT 3 TO 4 MINUTES AND THEN THE CAR WILL START BACK UP LIKE NOTHING HAS HAPPENED. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO A FEW MECHANICS, AND THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO PULL ANY CODES, AND BASICALLY TOLD ME TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER. NOW THAT I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER, THEY HAVE HAD THE CAR SINCE MONDAY TODAY IS FRIDAY AND THEY ARE UNABLE TO DETERMINE WHAT THE PROBLEM IS BECAUSE THE CODES DON'T PULL UP AND THE CAR HASN'T DONE IT SINCE THEY HAVE HAD IT. *TR
FIRST THE HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT AND WOULDN'T WORK ON DIM OR BRIGHT. I REPLACED THE RELAY FUSE TO THE HEADLIGHTS, THEY STILL WOULD NOT WORK. NEXT I REPLACED THE SWITCH ON THE STEERING WHEEL THAT CONTROLLED THE LIGHTS. A FEW MONTHS LATER THE FUSE BOX CAUGHT ON FIRE. I STILL HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO HAVE THE CAR REPAIRED. *TR
VEHICLE HAD SYMPTOMS OF TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. DEALERSHIP COULD NOT FIND ANY, SERVICED IT WITH A TRANSMISSION FLUSH SINCE DID NOT KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO. THE CAR WAS SHIFTING ROUGHLY AT HIGHWAY SPEED. COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH TRANSMISSION, SAID IT WAS LIKELY THE DISPLACEMENT ON DEMAND, AND SHIFTING BETWEEN 4CYL AND 8 CYL. IT IS NOW SHIFTING HARD, NOT EACH TIME DRIVEN, BUT MOST TIMES. I OWN 2 OF THESE CARS AND THE TRANSMISSION ON THE 2006 JUST COMPLETELY FAILED, AND I RECOGNIZE NOW THAT THE PROBLEM IS THE TRANSMISSION, NOT THE DOD. I SEE FAR TOO MANY COMPLAINTS WITH THE PARTICULAR TRANSMISSION CROAKING WAY BEFORE IT SHOULD. I AM AFRAID THIS 2007 IS GOING TO REQUIRE THE SAME FIX, A FACTORY REBUILT TRANSMISSION, WHICH IS 3,000.00. PLEASE, PLEASE FORCE A RECALL AS THESE TRANSMISSIONS SHOULD NOT BE FAILING AT THE RATE THEY ARE. *TR
WHILE DRIVING THE HEADLAMPS WILL CUT OFF AT NIGHT WITHOUT WARNING. IT IS A RANDOM OCCURRENCE. LIGHTS WILL CUT OFF FOR A MINUTE OR TWO BEFORE COMING BACK ON. THIS HAPPENS ABOUT ONCE OR TWICE A MONTH. *TR

CAR TRANSMISSION SLIPS WHILE TAKING OFF FROM A STOP. IT CLUNKS AND LURCHES FORWARD UNSAFELY. VEHICLE TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN FLUSHED AND FLUIDS CHANGED. SEEMS TO BE GETTING WORSE. DOES NOT MATTER IF HOT OR COLD. DOES IT 3 OUT OF 5 TIMES. *TR
I WAS DRIVING HOME AND THE RUNNING LIGHTS WERE ON. I WAS GOING APPROXIMATELY 45 MILES AN HOUR WHEN THE HEAD LIGHTS WENT OFF. I TURNED THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH TO THE ON POSITION AND NOTHING HAPPENED. I TURNED THE LIGHTS OFF AND A WARNING LIGHT CAME ON THAT SAID "HEADLAMPS SUGGESTED". I TRIED TO TURN THE LIGHTS BACK ON BUT MY HIGH BEAMS WERE THE ONLY ONES OPERABLE. THE HEADLIGHTS DID NOT WORK FOR 4 HOURS AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF. THIS OCCURS MORE FREQUENTLY THAN IT USED TO BUT I HAVE NOT BEEN GIVEN ANY SUGGESTIONS ON HOW TO FIX IT. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT MY LIGHTS WILL STOP WORKING, THE HIGH BEAMS WILL WORK HOWEVER THE LOW BEAMS WILL JUST STOP WORKING. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES. ALSO AFTER I TURN AND MY BLINKER TURNS OFF THE HIGH BEAM LIGHTS TURN ON. IS THERE NOT A RECALL OR SOME SORT OF FIX FOR THE LIGHTS?!! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS AND DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
HELP!!! I AM THE OWNER OF A 2007 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX, AND FOR APPROXIMATELY A WEEK OR SO NOW, I HAVE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE EXTERIOR LIGHTING COMING ON AND GOING OFF INTERMITTENTLY ON IT'S OWN WHILE PARKED, CAR TURNED OFF, AND KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION. I HAVE TRIED ADJUSTING THE LIGHTING CONTROLS, NO RESOLVE. I'VE ADJUSTED THE DELAYED LIGHTING SETTINGS TO OFF (WAS PREVIOUSLY SET AT 15 SECONDS), NOTHING. I DO RECALL READING THAT OTHER OWNERS HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND OFFERED SOME SUGGESTIONS. I'VE TRIED TAKING THE BATTERY OUT OF THE REMOTE - DIDN'T WORK. I'M GOING TO TRY DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY TOMORROW TO SEE IF THAT WILL RESET THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM SOMEHOW. RIGHT NOW IT'S ABOUT 2AM AND WHAT DO YOU KNOW....MY LIGHTS ARE ON! I'M OVER IT!!!! I'M GOING TO BED!!! YOU WOULD THINK THAT PONTIAC WOULD ACKNOWLEDGE THESE PROBLEMS AND OFFER TO REPAIR AT NO COST, BUT THAT WOULD BE ASKING FOR TOO MUCH HUH??? I WILL START MAKING SOME PHONE CALLS AND KICKING DIRT TOMORROW TO TRY AND GET THIS MATTER HANDLED, AND I DON'T PLAN ON HAVING TO PAY FOR THE INCONVENIENCES EITHER. WISH ME LUCK! *TR

2007 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX GXP TRANSMISSION FAILURE AT 96,000 MILES (AND 6 MONTHS OUT OF WARRANTY). STOPPED AT TRAFFIC LIGHT WHEN I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR TO GO AND HEARD A "CLUNK" AND HAD NO FORWARD GEARS IN AUTOMATIC. DID HAVE TAPSHIFT GEARS AND REVERSE, THOUGH FORWARD GEARS SLIPPED. TOOK IT TO A LOCAL DEALER (WE WERE OUT OF TOWN) AND TOLD THE TRANSMISSION HAD FAILED. HAD TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION REBUILT AT A COST OF $3600. PLUS CAR RENTAL AND HOTEL TO DRIVE HOME AND RETURN TO PICK UP THE CAR WHEN IT WAS REPAIRED. SECOND GM TRANSMISSION FAILURE I'VE EXPERIENCE IN LESS THAN TWO YEARS WITH THE PREVIOUS ONE ON A CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. *JS
DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 70 MPH AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR SHUTS DOWN, LIKE SOMEONE UNPLUGGED THE ENGINE. THIS WAS THE MOST HORRIFIC MOMENT IN MY LIFE, SEMI TRUCKS ZOOMING PAST ME. FINALLY MADE MY WAY TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY AND HAD TO CALL A TOW TRUCK, CAR WAS TOWED HOME AND THE TOW TRUCK GUY PUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION AND IT STARTED RIGHT UP. DROVE THE CAR TO WORK AND IT SHUT DOWN AGAIN THIS TIME I WAS ONLY DOING 35 MPH. I WAITED FOR ABOUT 30 MIN AND THE CAR STARTED RIGHT BACK UP, ON MY HOME FROM WORK IT DID IT AGIN. THE FOLLOWING WEEK IT DID IT AGIAN, TOOK THE CAR TO A "GM" CERITIFIED MECHANIC BUT OF COURSE THEY COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM, PICKED THE CAR UP AND DROVE IT FOR A FEW DAYS IT HAPPENED AGAIN, TOOK IT BACK TO THE GM MECHANIC, STILL COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG, PICKED IT UP A WEEK LATER SAME ISSUE. TO SUM IT UP I HAVE HAD THE IGNITION MODULE AND THE CRANK SENSOR SHAFT AND STILL CAN NOT LOCATE TH PROBLEM. THE CAR IS TOO DANGEROUS TO DRIVE AND NOW IT'S JUST SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY AND WON'T START AT ALL. GM REALLY NEEDS TO TAKE A LOOK AT THIS SITUATION BRFORE SOMEONE GETS REALLY HURT, THE CAR IS DEFECTIVE. *TR
I HAVE A 2007 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX GXP W/5.3L V8. CURRENTLY HAS 45,000 MILES JUST RECENTLY STARTED HAVING ISSUES WITH THE TRANSMISSION. FROM A DEAD STOP TRANS WILL SLIP, THAN SLAM INTO GEAR, ALSO SHUTTERS BETWEEN 1-2, AND SOMETIMES FROM 3-4. CAR DOES CURRENTLY HAVE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY THAT I PURCHASED WITH CAR. SO CAR WILL BE GOING IN FOR REPAIR UNDER WARRANTY (I HOPE) AFTER READING ONLINE IN A GM OWNER FORUM FOUND OUT ABOUT THE CURRENT INVESTIGATION WITH GM TRANSMISSION FAILURES WOULD REALLY LIKE TO SEE A RECALL COME OF THIS. BECAUSE SEEMS THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE.. IT WILL LEAVE YOU STRANDED WITHOUT WARNING, AND MAY BREAK IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC CAUSING A DANGEROUS SITUATION TO BE IN. IT SEEMS TO BE TOO MUCH FOR A TRANSMISSION THAT WAS DESIGNED TO BE MATED TO A V6 ENGINE. NOT TO BE MATED TO A 5.3L V8. *TR
DRIVE GEAR WON'T ENGAGE FROM A STOP. STARTED VEHICLE AND IT STALLED. REVERSE OUT OF PARKING SPOT AND PUT IN DRIVE TO LEAVE PARKING LOT. WENT TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP AND ENGINE REVVED AND WOULD NOT MOVE LIKE IT WAS IN NEUTRAL. HAD TO PLACE VEHICLE IN 1ST GEAR TO MOVE UP THROUGH 3RD AND THEN PUT IN DRIVE AFTER GETTING UP TO SPEED. PROBLEM STARTED WITHOUT WARNING AND MILEAGE IS ONLY AT 84,400. NEVER HAD A GM VEHICLE WITH THIS TYPE OF ISSUE BEFORE AND I HAVE ONLY OWNED GM. VERY DISAPPOINTED. *TR
THE CAR HAS HAD OFF AND ON TRANSMISSION ISSUES. FROM A STOP, WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE. IT BOGGED BADLY, LIKE IT WAS IN 2ND, SUDDENLY IT SLAMMED INTO FIRST AND I WAS ON MY WAY. THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL INSTANCES OF ROUGH SHIFTS. ALSO, AT TIMES I'LL BE GOING VERY SLOW 0-10MPH AND NEED TO ACCELERATE IN TRAFFIC. THE CAR HESITATES FOR A SECOND BEFORE REGAINING RPM. I HAVE NOT BEEN STRANDED YET BUT WANTED TO RECORD THE INCIDENTS. I HAVE BEEN VERY HAPPY WITH THIS CAR AND THE 4 GMS I DROVE BEFORE ( ALL 100K+, 2 OF THEM 220K+), BUT THESE ISSUES ARE STARTING TO WORRY ME. *TR
NEW OWNER OF PONTICA GRAND PRIX. NEVER OWNED A PONTICA, PURCHACE FOR WIFEY RED COLOR SHE LIKE IM A PRO MECHANIC 20 YEARS OR BETTER AND HAD DID THE RESEARCH HEARD ABOUT TRANS IN PONT. FAILURE ALSO DOOR ACTURATOR BEEN BAD COULD BET THE PRICE 2 MONTHS LATER TRANS B/O (BAD OPERATION) I DROP PAN AND FOUND THE FOWARD BAND BROKEN IT LOOK LIKE IT WAS STOP WELDED ON AND BROKE RIGHT AFTER THE SPOT WELD SHOULD HAVE BEEN CAST ONE PIECES BUT NO! (I BELIEVE DEFECT IN MANUFACTURING) SHOULD HAVE BEEN CASTED I LOVE USA BUT IF THEY DONT STAND-UP ITS NISSIAN FOR ME. I REPLACE TRANS. LKQ LOW MILES 25,000! WILL BE TRADING FOR GUEST WHAT WONT BE GM! YOU STOP WELD BODY PARTS NOT TRANS PARTS BY GM THEY SHOULD'NT GOT BAIL OUT NOT JUST PONTICA THE TRANS 4T65E ARE DEFECTS 2007 UPLANDERS ECT IF U HAVE A 3.8 LOOK OUT GM MESSED UP THIS ONE. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT, HEADLIGHT LOW BEAMS TURNED OFF AUTOMATICALLY. HIGHBEAMS AND TURNING SIGNALS WORK FINE. CHECKED FUSES, THEY WERE GOOD. CHECKED BULBS, THEY WERE GOOD. LOWBEAM HEADLIGHTS STILL WILL NOT WORK. *TR
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FAILURE. TRANSMISSION SHUDDERS, SLIPS AND SLAMS INTO GEAR. GXP MODEL. *TR
THE ISSUES I HAVE WITH MY 07 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX GXP ARE THE FOLLOWING MORE OFTEN THAN NOT NOW WHEN TAKING OFF FROM A STOP TRANSMISSION REVS UP AND SLAMS INTO GEAR CAUSING WHEEL SPIN GOING DOWN HIGHWAY TORQUE CONVERTER WILL LOCK UP AND RELEASE AT CRUISING SPEEDS 65-70 MPH CAUSING CAR TO BUCK ERRATICALLY CAUSING STABILITY ISSUES. *TR
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD ON A SATURDAY NIGHT WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE ROAD BECAME DARK. I GOT OUT TO SEE IF MY HEADLIGHTS WERE ON AND THEY WEREN'T . SO I GOT BACK IN THE CAR AND BEGAN TO CHANGE THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH FROM AUTOMATIC TO ON. NOTHING. THEN I WENT FROM LOW BEAM TO HIGH AND AGAIN NOTHING. THEY I HAD MY FUSE BOX CHANGED AS WELL AS THE GROUND WIRE. NOTHING. I BEGAN TO RESEARCH ONLY TO FIND OUT ALOT OF PEOPLE HAVE STARTED TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM STARTING AUGUST 2010 UNTIL PRESENT (10/2011). *TT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS WOULD FAIL SPORADICALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY ADVISED HIM THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 80,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT, THE LOW BEAMS ON MY CAR SUDDENLY FAILED, AND I COULD NOT GET THEM TO GO BACK ON. FORTUNATELY, THE HIGH BEAMS STILL WORKED. SUBSEQUENTLY, THE SAME THING HAPPENED WITH MY DAY RUNNING LIGHTS WHICH ARE TIED IN WITH THE LOW BEAMS. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE LOCAL PONTIAC DEALERSHIP AND IT WAS UNSUCCESSFUL IN DUPLICATING THE PROBLEM. I THEREFORE DECIDED TO GOOGLE THE ISSUE TO DETERMINE IF THERE WERE OTHERS WHO SHARED THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE SAME MAKE, MODEL, AND YEAR AS I OWNED. LO & BEHOLD, THERE WERE NOT A FEW WHO ALSO EXPERIENCED LOW-BEAM HEADLIGHT FAILURE. I ALSO NOTED THAT THIS PROBLEM WAS NOT SPECIFIC TO JUST 2007 MODEL YEAR PONTIAC GRAND PRIXS, BUT ALSO OTHER MODEL YEAR GRAND PRIXS, AND EVEN SOME BUICK MODELS). SOME POSTERS HAD SUGGESTED THAT THE ISSUE WAS WITH A RELAY, GM PART # 15016745, AND ONCE THEY REPLACED THIS PART, THEY NEVER HAD THE PROBLEM REOCCUR. SINCE I WAS HESITANT TO PURCHASE A PART OF WHICH I HAD NO GUARANTEE THAT IT WOULD WORK, I WENT TO THE WEB SITE JUSTANSWERS.COM, AND PAID A GM EXPERT $35 IN HOPES THAT HE COULD HE COULD FIND RESOLUTION. HE INDICATED THAT THE LOW BEAM FAILURE WITH MY CAR WAS COMMON, AND HE, TOO, RECOMMENDED GM PART # 15016745, WHICH IS LOCATED IN THE UNDER-HOOD FUSE BLOCK. I PURCHASED THE RELAY WHICH I FOUND ON GMPARTS.COM, AND RECEIVED IT YESTERDAY. I HAVE, YET, TO INSTALL IT, AND I'M HOPING THAT THAT IS THE PROBLEM. IT IS FRIGHTENING TO HAVE YOUR HEADLIGHTS FAIL WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT. I AM WRITING YOU SO THAT YOU MIGHT INVESTIGATE THIS ISSUE, AND ABATE ANY POTENTIAL ACCIDENTS. NO ONE REALLY KNOWS IF THERE HAVE ALREADY BEEN ANY DEATHS RESULTING FROM THIS SERIOUS ISSUE. THANK YOU.
DRIVING HOME AT NIGHT WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN BOTH HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT AT THE SAME TIME. ALL OF THE OTHER LIGHTS ARE WORKING. HAD TO PUT ON THE HIGH BEAMS JUST TO GET HOME. NEXT MORNING CHANGES BOTH BULBS CHECKED FUSES. NOTHING. WENT ON LINE TO FIND ANY SUGGESTIONS AND TO MY SURPRISE I SEE THIS IS A FREQUENT PROBLEM. MANY FOLKS HAVE TRIED MANY DFFERENT FIXES BUT I HAVE NOT FOUND ONE LINK THAT GAVE A SOLUTION. I DID SEE SEVERAL BLOGS THAT STATED THERE WERE ISSUES WITH THE KEYLESS REMOTE JUST PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. I HAVE HAD SOME ISSUES WITH MY KEYLESS I HAVE TO HIT IT SEVERAL TIMES TO UNLOCK OR LOCK THE DOORS. I HAVE A VERY LIMIT INCOME AND CANNOT GO AROUND HAVING THINGS REPLACED WITH NO FIX. THIS IS MY SECOND GRAND PRIX , MY FIRST I HAD NO PROBLEMS EVER. I LOVED BOTH CARS AS THEY ARE SAFE AND ALWAYS DEPENDABLE. I DO HAVE TO SAY THIS ISSUE NOW HAS ME VERY UPSET AS THERE IS NO RESOLUTION TO THIS ISSUE. I NEED SOME SORT OF ASSISTANCE ON THIS. AS IT IS SUCH A FREQUENT ISSUE PONTIAC SHOULD BE LOOKING INOT A RESOLUTION OR LEAST OFFER SOME ASSITANCE SO PEOPLE DO NOT HAVE TO SPEND ALOT OF MONEY GUESSING ON WHAT THE PROBLEM IS AND NOT HAVE A FIX. THIS IS CRAZY. *TT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 PONTIAC GRAN PRIX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HEADLIGHTS WOULD CONSTANTLY FAIL WHILE ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST BUT WAS UNABLE TO GENERATE ANY FAILURE CODES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 77,000. THE CONSUMER STATED THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT WARNING ALARM GOES OFF, EVEN WHILE THE SEAT BELT IS ENGAGED. THE CLOCK AND RADIO DISPLAY LIGHTS NO LONGER WORK. TRAVELING AND ABOUT TO MERGE ONTO THE INTERSTATE (SPEED OF 75 MPH) TURNED LEFT TURN SIGNAL TO BEGIN MERGE AND ALL EXTERIOR HEAD LIGHTS WENT BLACK, NO LOW BEAMS NOR HIGH BEAMS NOR EVEN PARKING LIGHTS EXISTED! ROTATED THROUGH LIGHTING SWITCH OPTIONS REPEATEDLY IN HOPE OF REGAINING SIGHT - NOTHING. PULLED OFF TO SHOULDER AND PARKED CAR. THANKFULLY NOONE WAS BEHIND ME! HAZARDS WORKED, ALL OTHER OUTER LIGHTS WORKED, ALL INTERIOR LIGHTS WORKED. CHECKED BOTH FUSE BOXES - NOTHING BLOWN. AFTER 20 MINUTES LOW BEAMS ON MANUAL SETTING CAME ON - NO OTHER OPTION AVAILABLE. VERY CAUTIOUSLY DROVE THE REMAINING 90 MINUTES TO HOME. HAD CAR CHECKED AT DEALERSHIP, UNABLE TO DUPLICATE PROBLEM. UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE PROBLEM. THIS HAS BEEN OCCURRING AT RANDOM. VERY SCARED! STILL UNABLE TO GET A DIAGNOSED PROBLEM. HUNDREDS SPENT ON TROUBLE SHOOTING PROBLEM WITHOUT RESOLUTION. THIS IS NOT A SAFE VEHICLE - AND WAS PURCHASED OUTRIGHT AS A FAMILY VEHICLE WITH LESS THAN 30,000 MILES ON IT! MAD!! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX. WHILE STOPPED AT A LIGHT, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THE FAILURE RECURED INTERMITTENTLY. IN ADDITION, THE SPEEDOMETER WOULD NOT READ THE ACCURATE SPEED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE FAILURE PERSISTED AFTER THE REPAIR. THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED THREE DIFFERENT TIMES BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000.
I FOUND OUT THERE IS A RECALL ON THE 2007 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX WITH IT'S FUEL SYSTEM. AS QUOTED, "THE FUEL TANK IS MISSING THE ADHESIVE LAYER THAT BONDS THE BARRIER LAYER TO THE OUTER SHELL OF THE FUEL TANK" - THIS PROBLEM INCREASES THE RISK OF FIRE! I JUST PURCHASED A 2007 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX AND HAVE SMELLED GAS AND ALSO THE GAS CAP WILL NOT GO ON TIGHT. THE EMISSION LIGHT IS CONSTANTLY ON BECAUSE OF THIS GAS ISSUE. I DRIVE 46 MILES A DAY FOR MY WORK AND NOW READING THIS I DO NOT FEEL SAFE ON THE HIGHWAY I HAVE TO TRAVEL. I JUST PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE AND IT WASN'T TWO DAYS AFTER OWNING IT THAT THE EMISSION LIGHT CAME ON THE DASH AND GAS SMELL WAS PRESENT. I CAN NOW SEE THIS IS THE PROBLEM FROM THIS RECALL. I WANT TO KNOW WHO OR WHAT I CAN DO TO GET THIS PROBLEM FIXED. I WILL SEEK AN ATTORNEY IF NECESSARY BECAUSE THIS IS NOT SOMETHING TO PLAY WITH - NOW I DON'T EVEN WANT TO HAVE ANYONE ELSE IN THIS VEHICLE WITH ME. PLEASE PROVIDE INFORMATION ON WHERE/WHO I CAN GET THIS REPAIRED IMMEDIATELY BEFORE THERE IS A FIRE!!! THIS IS NOT FUNNY IN MY WORLD WHATSOEVER!!! I LIKE THE CAR OR I WOULDN'T HAD PURCHASED IT, BUT ONLY OWNING IT FOR ONE MONTH AND HAVE THIS FIRE HAZARD ISSUE IS NOT SOMETHING I EXPECTED TO HAVE TO DEAL WITH. I NEED HELP WITH THIS VEHICLE ASAP!!!! I SURELY WON'T PUT A CHILD IN IT!!!! *TR
WENT TO DRIVE MY VEHICLE FROM IN FRONT OF MY HOUSE AND DISCOVERED BY ACCIDENT, THAT I COULD SHIFT MY CAR INTO REVERSE WITHOUT DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL OR PUSHING IN ON THE PAWL BUTTON ON THE SHIFTER. I HAD GOTTEN A SHIRTSLEEVE HUNG UP ON THE SHIFTER AND PULLED MY ARM BACK AND THE CAR STARTED INTO REVERSE ON ITS OWN. THIS IS A CONSTANT CONDITION, AND I HAVE NOT MADE CONTACT WITH A DEALER, THOUGH BASED ON MY PAST EXPERIENCES WITH GM DEALERSHIPS, THEY WON'T FIX IT, OR WILL BLAME ME FOR THE CONDITION. THIS IS WHY I AM SUBMITTING THIS REPORT FIRST. *TR
I AM EXPERIENCING INTERMITTENT TRANSMISSION SLIPPING AS WELL AS MALFUNCTIONING FROM A START. *TR
HEADLIGHTS LOW BEAM RANDOMLY TURN OFF DURING NIGHT DRIVING. WHEN USING TURN SIGNAL THE HEADLIGHT HIGH BEAM TURNS-ON AND CANNOT BE TURNED OFF WITH SWITCH, THE ONLY WAY TO TURN-OFF HIGH BEAM IS TO PRESS FORWARD ON TURN SIGNAL. *KB
CAR HIT EMBANKMENT, FLIPPED A FEW TIMES , HIT A TREE, A LIGHT POLE AND THE DRIVER WAS THROWN FROM VEHICLE. RESULTING IN FATALITY. *TR
THE LOW BEAM HEADLAMPS RANDOMLY TURN OFF WHILE DRIVING. WE HAVE TRIED USING THE AUTO SETTING, AND THE "ON" SETTING AND IT HAPPENS EITHER WAY. THE LAMPS ARE FINE, THE FUSES ARE FINE, THE WIRING IS FINE. WE ARE UNABLE TO LOCATE THE PROBLEM. THIS MAKES THE CAR NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO DRIVE AT NIGHT. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS TO BE DOING 55 MPH AND HAVE THIS HAPPEN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HEADLIGHTS WOULD STOP ILLUMINATING ON AN INTERMITTENT BASIS. IN ORDER TO MAINTAIN OPERATION OF THE HEADLIGHTS AT NIGHT, THE CONTACT WOULD TURN ON THE HIGH BEAMS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. VARIOUS FUSES AND THE WIRING HARNESS WERE REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 102,894. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
LOW BEAMS WORK INTERMITENTLY. HIGH BEAM WORK FINE BUT UNABLE TO DRIVE CAR AT NIGHT DUE TO UNPREDICTABILITY OF LOW BEAMS. *TT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 25 MPH WHEN THE REDUCE ENGINE POWER WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE ABNORMALLY ACCELERATED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO STOP THE UNINTENDED ACCELERATION BY APPLYING THE BRAKES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING BUT THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DUPLICATED. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF BEING INVOLVED IN A CRASH. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.
INSIDE REAR TIRE WEAROUT & INSTABILITY DURING WINTER DRIVING CONDITIONS. THE CAR HAS GONE THROUGH 2 SETS OF TIRES. I HAVE A 2007 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX. NO SPECIFIC EVENT LEADING TO HEADLIGHTS LOW BEAM FAILURE. I WAS HOWEVER UNABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AS IT WAS DARK AND NOW CURRENTLY UNABLE TO GO ANYWHERE EXCEPT UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS AND CIRCUMSTANCE. VEHICLE LOW BEAMS WILL NOT TURN ON AUTOMATICALLY OR MANUALLY. ALL BULBS AND FUSES ARE GOOD. HEADLIGHTS USED TO WORK AUTOMATICALLY WHEN VEHICLE WAS TURNED INTO THE ON POSITION, BUT NOW ONLY ALL OTHER LIGHTS WORK INCLUDING DASH,HIGH BEAMS, AND PARKING LAMPS. CURRENTLY I AM UNABLE TO DRIVE IN THE DARK. I AM ALSO AFRAID TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE IN FEAR OF POOR WEATHER. IT IS SUMMER CURRENTLY AND NOW FEAR RAIN AND IN THE FUTURE MONTHS SNOWSTORMS WITH NO HEADLIGHTS. ALSO, WITH A SEASON CHANGE ALWAYS IMPENDING IT WILL BE DARKER SOONER AND LONGER. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE!!! UPON RESEARCH OF THIS MALFUNCTION I SEE THAT IT IS QUITE COMMON AND THAT THE MALFUNCTION CAN HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING! THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE! I AM UNABLE TO LOCATE A RECALL. I FEEL UNSAFE FOR ME AND MY CHILD IN THE CAR. THIS IS A NEW PURCHASE TO ME AND I HAVE ONLY HAD THE VEHICLE FOR 45 DAYS. I HAVE LITERALLY ONLY DRIVEN IT 215 MILES SINCE OWNING IT. LOW BEAMS AUTOMATICALLY CAME ON WITH IGNITION IN "ON" POSITION UP UNTIL A FEW DAYS AGO. I NOW CANNOT EVEN TURN THEM ON MANUALLY. I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE LOOKED AT, HOWEVER, DUE TO POSSIBLE COST NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE AT THIS TIME. I WAS TOLD IT MAY BE A PROBLEM WITH THE "SWITCH". BEING UNFAMILIAR WITH CARS I AM NOT AWARE WHAT THIS IS OR WHAT IT ENTAILS. I FEEL THIS VEHICLE IS UNSAFE ON THE ROAD UNLESS IT IS A BRIGHT SUNNY DAY WITH NO DARKNESS OR PRECIPITATION IN SIGHT. I'M VERY DISAPPOINTED. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME. *TR
LOW BEAM LIGHTS WORK WHEN THEY WANT TO WORK. I GOT BOTH CHANGED EVEN THOUGH I DIDN'T NEED TO AND HAD THE GUY AT O'REILLY'S CHECK THE FUSES AND NOTHING HE COULD SEE WAS WRONG. HE RECOMMENDED CHECKING TO SEE IF THERE WAS A RECALL AND UNFORTUNATELY THERE IS NOT. SURPRISINGLY BECAUSE I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE ON THIS SITE TO COMPLAIN OF THE SAME PROBLEM. I CAN'T DRIVE IN THE DARK WITH MY HIGH BEAMS ALL THE TIME, WHAT TO DO?!? *TR

2007 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX. LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS GO OUT INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT. HIGH BEAMS WORK FINE. LOW BEAM LAMPS/CONNECTIONS ARE FINE. BRIDGESTONE TIRES WERE BALD ON INSIDE REAR AFTER ONLY 26,000 MILES. TIRES WERE MOUNTED ON PONTIAC GXP,2007 AT FACTORY. ONLY DETECTED AT ROTATION. DEFINATLY A SAFETY PROBLEM. BOTH TIRES WERE SLICK,NO TREAD AT ALL. *TR
REAR END ISSUES WITH 2007 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX GT. TIRES WILL WEAR TO THE EXTREME ON THE INSIDE, BELIEVED TO BE CAUSED BY THE BUSHINGS WEARING OUT. THIS PROBLEM WAS DISCOVER ON A VEHICLE WITH ONLY 30,000 MILES ON IT. CAR CAN BECOME UNCONTROLLABLE ON WET OR SLIPPERY ROADS. DRIVE WITH EXTREME CAUTION, REAR OF CAR WANTS TO SPIN OUT AND COULD HAPPEN IN EITHER DIRECTION. *TR
MY WIFE AND I BOTH OWN 2007 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX GXP. I EXPERIENCED A RIGHT REAR FLAT WHILE DRIVING. I PULLED OVER AND NOTICED THE WHOLE TIRE WAS SERIOUSLY RIPPED. THE OTHER REAR TIRE WAS BALD ON THE INSIDE. WHEN THIS HAPPENED THE VEHICLE ONLY HAD 17000 MILES ON IT. A MONTH LATER MY WIFE'S VEHICLE STARTED HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS AT 20000 MILES (INSIDE WEAR ON BOTH REAR TIRES. A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO (APRIL MAYBE) AS I DROVE HOME FROM BIBLE STUDY THE ROAD SUDDENLY BECAME VERY DARK...AS THE ROAD IS IN A POORLY LIT SUBURBAN AREA I NOTICED THE DIFFERENCE IMMEDIATELY AND FLICKED MY LIGHT SWITCH IN THE CAR AT WHICH TIME THE LIGHTS CAME BACK ON. I THOUGHT TO MYSELF, 'THAT'S ODD', BUT REALLY DID NOT MAKE TOO MUCH OF IT. (IT WAS A TYPICAL RAINY SPRING NIGHT IN VA AND THE ROAD I TRAVELED IS EXTREMELY DARK WITH HEADLIGHTS AND CURVY, LUCKILY I AM FAMILIAR WITH THE BENDS AND TWISTS AS I TRAVEL THE ROAD AT LEAST FOUR TIMES A WEEK. I SHUDDER TO THINK OF WHAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED IF A LESS EXPERIENCED DRIVE OR SOMEONE LESS FAMILIAR WITH THE BENDS AND TWISTS OF THIS DITCH LINED ROAD HAD BEEN DRIVING WHEN THE LIGHTS SUDDENLY AND INEXPLICABLY STOPPED WORKING). A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO, AGAIN AS I LEFT BIBLE STUDY, MY LOW BEAMS STOPPED WORKING AGAIN. I WAS STILL IN THE PARKING LOT AT THE TIME SO I GOT OUT OF THE CAR TO BE SURE AND SEVERAL CHURCH MEMBERS ALSO CAME OVER TO SEE WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. THIS TIME, THE LOW BEAMS DID NOT COME BACK ON. I DROVE HOME WITH MY HIGH BEAMS ON AND HOPED THE ISSUE WOULD RESOLVE ITSELF BY MORNING. ALAS, IT DID NOT. I BEGAN THE QUEST TO FIND THE PROBLEM AND WAS TOLD THAT THE PROBLEM WAS THE FUSE BOX...IT WAS NOT. I WAS TOLD THAT THE PROBLEM WAS THE ACTUAL SWITCH...IT WAS NOT. FINALLY, I TOOK MY CAR TO TIDEWATER AUTO ELECTRIC AND THEY DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS FOLLOWS....REMOVED BCM TO PIN CHECK. NO OUTPUT FROM BCM TO LOW BEAM RELAY MODULE. CHECKED RESISTANCE FROM BCM TO FUSE BOX ALL WIRING OK. NEEDS BCM REPLACED ALSO NEEDS LOW BEAM RELAY MODULE. IT WAS EXPLAINED TO ME IN LAYMENS TERMS THAT THE COMPUTER WAS BAD AND HAD TO BE REPLACED AND THAT THE SIGNAL FROM THE LIGHT SWITCH TO THE FUSE BOX WAS BAD AS WELL AND HAD TO BE REPAIRED. THIS REPAIR COST ME 694.07 FOR A VEHICLE THAT IS JUST OVER TWO YEARS OLD. THIS DEFECT SEEMS TO BE SOMETHING WORTH LOOKING INTO AS IT COULD PROVE EXTREMELY HAZARDOUS IN CERTAIN CONDITIONS. *TR
DRIVING HOME ON MEMORIAL DAY, NIGHT THROUGH TRAFFIC, PEOPLE YELLING TO TURN "TURN YOUR LIGHTS ON". MY LIGHTS ON MY 2007 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX ARE AUTOMATIC. I HAVE DRIVEN MY CAR ALL WEEK LONG ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT I DO NOT HAVE ANY HEADLIGHTS. THE FUSE BLOCK HAS GONE BAD AND MY LOW BEAMS DO NOT WORK. THERE IS NO ALARM, NOTICE THAT GOES OFF TO TELL ME THIS. MY LIGHTS WHEN I TURN THEM ON MANUALLY DO NOT SAY THAT THEY ARE NOT WORKING. EVERYTHING APPEARS TO BE FINE IN SIDE THE CAR. YOU JUST HAVE NOT HEADLIGHTS, LOW BEAMS, ONLY HIGH BEAMS. *TR

THE LAST TIME IT HAPPENED I WAS ON THE INTERSTATE WITH NO LIGHTS ANYWHERE. I PUT ON THE HIGH BEAMS AND WAS SCARED THEY WOULD ALSO GO OUT. THIS WAS A FRIGHTENING EXPERIENCE AND FRIENDS DON"T WANT TO RIDE WITH ME. *TR

ON NOV.18TH 2008 A FRIEND AND I WERE ROBBED WHEN A 6FT 5 BLACK MAN GOT INTO THE BACK SEAT OF MY CAR. I HAD CRACKED MY WINDOW, BUT WHEN I PUT MY 2008 PONTIAC G6 IN PARK ALL OF MY DOORS UNLOCKED. AS LONG AS IT IS IN GEAR ALL DOORS ARE LOCKED, BUT WHEN PUT IN PARK IT UNLOCKS AUTOMATICALLY. IF THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN DIFFERENT AND I COULD HAVE CHOSEN TO LOCK OR UNLOCK MY DOORS THEN ODDS ARE WE WOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN ROBBED OR HARMED. DUE TO THE FACT THAT I COULDN'T GET BACK INTO MY CAR THE DEALER GAVE ME A DIFFERENT NEW CAR. IT IS A 2007 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX GT, AND IT ALSO HAS THE AUTOMATIC LOCK FEATURE. THIS UNNERVES ME TERRIBLY AFTER WHAT HAPPENED TO ME. I DO NOT DRIVE MY CAR ALONE BECAUSE OF THE FEAR I HAVE NOW. I KNOW THAT MAYBE ALL VEHICLES ARE NOT LIKE THIS BUT I ALSO HAVE A 2002 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER AND IT IS THE SAME WAY, LOCKS WHEN IN GEAR, BUT UNLOCKS FOR PARK. THERE IS NO BENEFIT TO THIS HAPPENING BECAUSE IF THERE WAS AN ACCIDENT, AND THE CAR IS IN GEAR THEN HOW COULD AUTHORITIES GET IN TO THE VICTIM, OTHER THAN BREAKING THE WINDOWS IN? THIS IS A FEATURE THAT SHOULD BE UP TO THE DRIVER OF THE CAR, JUST AS AN AIRBAG SWITCH CAN BE TURNED ON OR OFF AT THE DRIVERS WISH, SO SHOULD THE LOCKS. I HAVE TWO BEAUTIFUL DAUGHTERS AND ONE WILL BE GETTING LICENSE IN 2 YEARS AND I WANT TO HAVE THE ASSURANCE THAT SHE WILL HAVE LOCKED DOORS AT ALL TIMES WHEN SHE IS MAYBE JUST SITTING SOMEWHERE TALKING WITH FRIENDS, OR IS PARKED WAITING ON ANOTHER FRIEND TO ARRIVE. WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF IT WAS YOUR WIFE, DAUGHTER,OR MOTHER? THE ROBBERY PUT ME IN THE HOSPITAL FOR 4 WEEKS TO TRY AND GET OVER THE TRAUMA OF THE ROBBERY. I AM STILL TO THIS DAY ON MEDICATIONS AND SEEING A THERAPIST WEEKLY. IF ANYTHING GOOD COMES OUT OF THIS I WANT TO KNOW THAT FOR ALL WOMEN WE CAN DRIVE AND PARK AND STILL BE SAFE. THE WORLD WE LIVE IN TODAY IS NOT A GOOD ONE, AND WE MUST TAKE ALL OF THE SAFETY MEASURES WE CAN TO INSURE THAT NO ONE ELSE HAS TO GO THROUGH WHAT MY FRIEND AND I DID ON THAT NIGHT . *TR

UPDATE ON 10192218 AND 10192426. 2007 GRAND PRIX GXP DEALER ATTEMPTED REPAIR TRANSMISSION. PER GMS TECH SUPPORT, DEALER PULLED TRANSMISSION, REPLACED FINAL DRIVE GEARS , AND BEARINGS. PROBLEM NOT RESOLVED. DEALER THEN REPLACED TRANSMISSION, BUT WITH GM RE-MANUFACTURED"PART. ALSO, DEALER STATED THEY COULD NOT OBTAIN A BRAND NEW TRANSMISSION FOR ANY REPAIR BECAUSE THE FACTORY SAVED NEW TRANSMISSIONS FOR THE PRODUCTION LINE VEHICLES. 15 DAYS AT DEALER. AND WAS TOLD CAR READY FOR PICK-UP. DROVE THE CAR AROUND THE PARKING LOT AND NOTICED GEAR SHIFT DID NOT LOCK INTO PLACE IN ANY GEAR BUT MANUAL. REVERSE, DIDN'T WORK, AND TRANSMISSION SHIFTED ITSELF INTO NEUTRAL GOING DOWN AN INCLINE. BROUGHT VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY BACK TO DEALER, WHO HAD TO REPLACE BOTH FRONT BRIDGESTONE TIRES DUE TO OUT OF ROUND AND IRREGULAR WEAR. LATEST SET OF TIRES WERE ALSO DEFECTIVE, ORDERED TWO NEW BRIDGESTONE'S UNDER WARRANTY. SECOND SET OF REPLACEMENT TIRES DID NOT HELP. DEALER TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE REPLACEMENT TRANSMISSION, DESPITE DRIVE LINE SHUDDERING. DEALER STATED OPERATED AS DESIGNED. *AK
2007 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX REAR DRIVER SIDE TIRE BLEW OUT. *KB AS A RESULT OF THE TIRE BLOWOUT, THE CONSUMER STRUCK THE GUARDRAIL. *OHIO TRAFFIC CRASH REPORT). *JB
FOLLOW-UP ON ODI #'S: 10191952 AND10192426 REPAIR ATTEMPT THREE ON AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. AS OF MIDNIGHT TONIGHT, THIS MAKES 15 CONSECUTIVE DAYS THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN AT THE DEALER FOR REPAIR OF THE TRANSMISSION. DEALER CALLED TODAY, STATING VEHICLE IS REPAIRED. THEY REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION WITH A "RE-MANUFACTURED" TRANSMISSION THEY ORDERED FROM GM. SO, I'VE GOT A BRAND NEW 2007 GRAND PRIX GXP WITH 3,200 MILES ON THE ODOMETER, WITH A USED TRANSMISSION FROM GM. DEALER INSISTED VEHICLE HAD BEEN TAKEN FOR SEVERAL TEST-DRIVES TODAY, AND IT IS IN "LIKE NEW" CONDITION. UPON TAKING THE CAR FOR A TEST DRIVE, MYSELF, I NOTICED THAT THE GEARSHIFT WAS LOOSE, AND DID NOT LOCK INTO PLACE, AS IT HAD BEFORE, AND AS IT WAS DESIGNED TO DO. ANY SLIGHT PRESSURE OR BUMP IN THE ROAD CAUSED THIS "NEW"(????) TRANSMISSION TO SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL, WITHOUT CONTROL INPUT FROM DRIVER. BASICALLY, THERE WERE NO DETENT STOPS FOR THE GEAR INDICATOR, AND IT FREELY MOVED BETWEEN DRIVE, NEUTRAL AND REVERSE! DEALER STATED THEY WOULD ONCE AGAIN ATTEMPT TO REPAIR. DEALER DID NOT CLOSE-OUT THE SERVICE TICKET, SO THEY ARE MAKING THIS APPEAR AS ONE REPAIR ATTEMPT, EVEN THOUGH THEY HAVE: 1. IGNORED INITIAL COMPLAINT, 2. ATTEMPTED TO REPAIR THE ORIGINAL TRANSMISSION, 3. FAILING THAT, THEY ORDERED A USED, RE-MANUFACTURED TRANSMISSION FROM GM, WHICH HAS EITHER BEEN INSTALLED INCORRECTLY, OR IS DEFECTIVE FROM THE START. EVEN IF THE VEHICLE CAN BE "REPAIRED", IT NOW HAS A USED, DYSFUNCTIONAL AND DANGEROUS TRANSMISSION, AND THE CAR IS SERIOUSLY DE-VALUED. I AM FILING A COMPLAINT WITH GM, AND THOROUGHLY PLAN ON A VIGOROUS PURSUIT OF MY RIGHTS UNDER THE FLORIDA LEMON LAW.
UPDATE REGARDING ORIGINAL ODI CASE NUMBER: 10191952. CAR HAS NOW BEEN IN SERVICE FOR TEN DAYS. DEALER STATED GM "AWARE OF A POTENTIAL DEFECT" IN THE TRANSMISSION, IN THE FINAL DRIVE GEAR(S). DEALER REPLACED TWO GEARS AND A BEARING IN THE TRANSMISSION. PURSUANT TO DISCUSSION WITH DEALER REPRESENTATIVE TODAY, REPAIR DID NOT CORRECT PROBLEM. TRANSMISSION IS NOW MAKING "CLANKING" NOISE AT VARIOUS SPEEDS INSTEAD OF JUST AT IDLE. NO DETAILS RECEIVED REGARDING HARSH SHIFT, JUST THAT DEALER FELT TRANSMISSION REPAIR WAS "UNACCEPTABLE". DEALER HAS ORDERED A REPLACEMENT TRANSMISSION FROM GM. NOTE: DEALER, FERMAN AT CYPRESS CREEK IN LUTZ, FL HAS BEEN QUITE ACCOMMODATING AND RUDY SCHMIDT, SERVICE DIRECTOR, HAS MADE THIS ORDEAL MUCH MORE TOLERABLE. THIS APPEARS TO BE A DESIGN OR MANUFACTURING FLAW, WHICH GM DID NOT CORRECT PRIOR TO DELIVERY. *TR
PURCHASED 2007 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX GXP NEW, WITH 98 MILES ON ODOMETER, IN MARCH, 2007. BRIDGESTONE POTENZA TIRES ON ALL FOUR WHEELS AS OEM. TIRES LOSE AIR (CHECKED WITH PROFESSIONAL TIRE GAUGE EVERY WEEK), DOWN TO 24 PSI IN ALL 4 TIRES, AT SAME AMBIENT TEMP, COLD TIRES. WHEN TIRES ARE COLD, THEY RUN AS IF THEY ARE SQUARE. BUMPING ALONG, STEERING WHEEL SHUDDERING SIDE TO SIDE. TAKEN TO DEALER. THEY FORCE-VARIANCE BALANCED ALL WHEELS/TIRES AND ALIGNED VEHICLE, INCLUDING ENGINE CRADLE. CAR STILL HAD SLIGHT STEERING SHUDDER, BECAME WORSE OVER THE NEXT FEW HUNDRED MILES. TAKEN BACK TO DEALER. THEY STATE TIRES "OUT OF ROUND" BUT DID NOT DO ANYTHING TO CORRECT THE SITUATION EXCEPT TO ADD AIR, AND TELL ME THAT ONE TIRE THREW A BALANCING WEIGHT. OVERALL, EVEN WITH PROPER INFLATION, PROPER ALIGNMENT OF ALL COMPONENTS (STEERING AND ENGINE CRADLE), INCLUDING PROPER FORCE-VARIANCE BALANCING, THE TIRES CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO PULL VIOLENTLY LEFT OR RIGHT, DEPENDING ON THE ANGLE OR CROWN OF THE ROAD. ALSO, PULL SO HARD GOING OVER ROAD IMPERFECTIONS, THAT STEERING WHEEL COMES OUT OF MY HANDS. DROVE SEVERAL OTHER IDENTICAL VEHICLES WITH OTHER BRAND (PIRELLI) TIRES, WITH NO PROBLEM. DEFECTIVE TIRES AT ALL FOUR WHEELS. BRIDGESTONE POTENZA'S. HAVE REQUESTED THAT SERVICE MANAGER REPLACE ALL FOUR TIRES WITH PIRELLI'S (THEY ARE THE ONLY OTHER MANUFACTURER WHICH MAKES 18" TIRES COMPATIBLE WITH MY GXP, WHICH USES TWO SEPARATE TIRE SIZES FOR FRONT AND BACK. THE BRIDGESTONE TIRES ARE DANGEROUS AND SHOULD BE RECALLED OR REPLACED. *TR
PURCHASED 2007 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX GXP NEW, APPROX 3 MONTHS AGO. AT 500 MILES, LOUD METAL-ON-METAL "CLANKING" NOISE BEGAN. TRACED NOISE TO TRANSMISSION BELL HOUSING. TAKEN FOR SERVICE AT 1,500 MILES, REQUESTED SERVICE WRITER LISTEN TO THE NOISE AND TAKE CARE OF PROBLEM. RETURNED AS "NO PROBLEM FOUND". AGAIN, TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER FOR SAME NOISE, ALONG WITH HARSH AND SUDDEN SHIFTS AROUND 25-30MPH. DEALER ATTEMPTED TO RETURN VEHICLE, STATING IT WAS "NORMAL, AND COVERED BY A TSB". I REFUSED TO ACCEPT THE VEHICLE. DEALER GAVE ME A VERY HARD TIME ABOUT COVERING A LOANER VEHICLE, EVEN THOUGH THIS WAS 2ND TIME TO DEALER WITH SAME COMPLAINT, UNRESOLVED, WITH JUST OVER 3,200 MILES ON ODOMETER. DEALER CALLED GM. MECHANICS NOW HAVE TO TEAR OUT THE TRANSMISSION TO "ATTEMPT A DIAGNOSIS". APPARENTLY, THERE MAY BE A "CLUTCH PACK ISSUE". VEHICLE STILL IN SERVICE AFTER 4 DAYS, NO DIAGNOSIS YET. REQUEST GM PROVIDE A NEW TRANSMISSION AND BELL HOUSING. *TR
