NOT EASY TO DO.THE WARNING BRAKE INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON.I TOOK IT TO A LOCAL AUTO REPAIR SHOP.THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT FIX IT.THE BRAKE LINE WAS THE ISSUE.THEY FILLED IT WITH BRAKE FLUID THEN I WAS ABLE TOO DRIVE IT TO THE DEALER WHO THEN REPAIRED THE LINE ,FOR 600 DOLLARS. MY QUESTION IS WERE THERE OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE.?IF MY KIDS WERE DRIVING THIS IT MIGHT HAVE BEEN A DIFFERENT STORY.THANK GOODNESS NO ONE WAS HURT. DOOR HINGES CAME WELDED ON DOORS WITH NO WAY TO LUBRICATE THEM AND KEEP THEM FROM RUSTING. PURCHASED THE VAN A FEW YEARS AGO. WITHIN A FEW MONTHS THE LEFT HAND PASSENGER DOOR RUSTED SHUT. REPAIR MAN QUOTED $129 FOR EACH HINGE PLUS THE LABOR. SOON THE OTHER DOOR WOULD NOT LATCH CORRECTLY. NOW THE AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKS HAVE PROBLEMS BECAUSE DOORS WILL NOT LATCH PROPERLY. THIS MONTH, THE BACK RIGHT HAND CARGO DOOR HINGE HAS RUSTED COMPLETELY OFF THE DOOR, MAKING THIS A POTENTIAL HAZARD, NOT TO MENTION, THE DOOR CANNOT BE SHUT ONCE IT IS OPENED. ONCE AGAIN THE AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKING SYSTEM HAVE BEEN COMPROMISED. CALLED CHEVY SOON AFTER FIRST HAD THE PROBLEM TO SEE IF THEY WOULD RECALL, BECAUSE NEW HINGES ARE NOW MADE TO BE BOLTED ON VAN AND CAN BE LUBRICATED. WE HAVE OTHER FRIENDS WITH CHEVY VANS WHO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEMS. *TR

THIS HAS CAUSED ACCIDENTS FOR SOME DRIVERS ALREADY. *TR

WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH ALL WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASH LIT UP, THE SPEEDOMETER CEASED TO FUNCTION, THE RADIO CUT OUT, THE AIRBAGS WERE REPORTING AS NONFUNCTIONAL, THE ABS SYSTEM WAS REPORTING NONFUNCTIONAL. TOOK VEHICLE TO LOCAL MECHANIC WHO SAID THE PROBLEM APPEARED TO BE CAUSED BY CORROSION ON THE ABS SENSOR AS WELL AS CORROSION ON THE POWER DISTRIBUTION CABLES INTO THE FUSE BOX. ACCORDING TO THE MECHANIC GM WAS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, AS TECHNICAL BULLETINS DATING BACK TO AROUND 2005 WERE ISSUED. HE ALSO STATED SHOULD IT HAPPEN AT THE TIME OF AN ACCIDENT THE AIR BAGS WOULD LIKELY FAIL TO DEPLOY, AND THE PROBLEM IN GENERAL COULD LEAD TO THE POSSIBILITY OF A VEHICLE FIRE. ACCORDING TO HIM THE ENTIRE PROBLEM COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED BY THE MANUFACTURER IF THEY HAD MADE SURE THE CABLES WERE WRAPPED IN SHRINK TUBE-THUS ELIMINATING THE INTRODUCTION OF MOISTURE TO THE ELECTRICAL WIRES. *TR

ON JULY 17, 2013 I CRASHED MY 2008 ROADTREK 190 POPULAR (CHEVROLET EXPRESS 3500 CHASSIS) IN A ROADSIDE DITCH. FORTUNATELY NO ONE WAS HURT BUT THE DRIVER-SIDE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. NEITHER DID THE PASSENGER-SIDE AIRBAG BUT IT MAY HAVE BEEN TURNED OFF. IN ANY EVENT, THE SERIOUSNESS OF THE CRASH SUGGESTS THAT THERE MAY HAVE BEEN A MALFUNCTION OF THE AIRBAG. I HAVE NO INTENT TO SEEK ANY DAMAGES FROM ROADTREK OR GM AS I DID NOT SUSTAIN ANY SIGNIFICANT INJURY AND WAS ADEQUATELY RESTRAINED BY MY SEATBELT. I AM LETTING YOU KNOW JUST IN CASE THIS MIGHT BE A PROBLEM ON SOME OF THESE VEHICLES. CONTACT ME VIA EMAIL IF YOU WANT PHOTOS OR THE LOCATION OF THE VEHICLE. *TR

WHILE MERGING ON THE EXPRESSWAY THE TRANSMISSION FAILED TO SHIFT OUT OF FIRST OR SECOND GEAR CAUSING HIGH ENGINE RPM'S . I HAD TO SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL AND BACK INTO DRIVE SEVERAL TIMES BUT IT STILL FAILED TO SHIFT INTO ANY GEAR. I HAD TO PUT ON FLASHERS ( HEAVY TRAFFIC ) AND MAKE MY WAY TO THE EMERGENCY LANE. WHEN I CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP AND SHIFTED BACK INTO DRIVE IT SHIFTED CORRECTLY. I HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM FOR SEVERAL MONTHS TO PRESENT DATE. I TOOK THE VAN TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO SAID THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND THEIR WERE NO CODE REPORTS SO THEY COULD NOT FIX THE ISSUE. THIS IS STILL A VERY REAL DANGER FOR MY FAMILY ( SEVEN CHILDREN ) BECAUSE THIS MALFUNCTION OCCURS WHILE AT HIGH SPEEDS USUALLY WHILE ENTERING THE EXPRESSWAY. *TR

THIS IS A 2008 CHEVROLET 3500 CUTAWAY SCHOOL BUS WITH 24,926 MILES ON. THE DRIVER WAS COMING TO A STOP TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH. HE APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. THE BUS THEN REAR ENDED A ANOTHER VAN WHICH THEN HIT THE REAR OF A POSTAL TRUCK. THE DRIVERS OF THE TWO OTHER VEHICLES WERE TAKEN AWAY BY AMBULANCE COMPLAINING OF BACK INJURIES. THE BUS WAS EXAMINED AT THE SCENE OF THE ACCIDENT BY TWO PENNDOT CLASS 7 INSPECTION MECHANICS VERIFYING THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER (THIRD PARTY TOWER) ALSO CHECKED THE BRAKES AND OPENED THE MASTER CYLINDER TO SEE IF THE FLUID WAS DOWN OR EMPTY AND STATED THAT IT WAS FULL. THE BUS WAS TOWED TO OUR GARAGE WHERE WE MOVED THE BUS AND THEN HAD A BRAKE PEDAL. THERE WERE TWO LIGHTS ON THE DASH, THE ABS LIGHT AND THE "BRAKE LIGHT" (PICTURES TAKEN). WE READ THE CODES (OBD II) AND HAD C0035 - LEFT FRONT WHEEL SENSOR CIRCUIT MALFUNCTION, AND C0040 - LEFT FRONT WHEEL SPEED SENSOR CIRCUIT MALFUNCTION (PICTURES TAKEN). THE BUS WAS DRIVEN AROUND AND DID HAVE BRAKES. THIS SAME BUS WAS AT THE LOCAL CHEVROLET DEALER NOVEMBER 09,2010 TO HAVE BOTH FRONT ABS SENSORS REPLACED (DEALER WORK ORDER AVAILABLE). IT WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER BECAUSE OF CONTINUED COMPLAINTS OF THE BRAKES FAILING TO STOP THE BUS. AS THE DRIVERS DESCRIBED THE PROBLEM - " IT WAS LIKE TRYING TO STOP ON ICE". THE SENSORS WERE REPLACED AND THE BUS WAS PUT BACK IN SERVICE. THIS IS A VERY UNSAFE CONDITION, PARTICULARLY SINCE THIS IS A SCHOOL BUS! *TR

MY ROTORS KEEP WARPING AND ENDANGERING MY LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I AM ON MY FOURTH SET OF ROTORS IN 84,000 MILES!!!! AND ON TOP OF THAT I HAVE THE ORIGINAL BRAKE PADS. AS A MATTER OF FACT FROM 14,000 MI TO 94,000 MY BRAKE PADS HAVE NOT WORN AT ALL. I HAD TO CUT THE ROTORS AT 30,000, AND THEN AT 50,000 THEY WERE WARPED AND TOO THIN TO RESURFACE. I REPLACED THEM AGAIN. AT 80,000 I HAD TO HAVE THEM CUT BECAUSE THEY WERE WARPED. THEN AT 85,000 I HAD TO HAVE THEM REPLACED AGAIN BECAUSE THEY WERE WARPED. MY ROTORS GET TO HOT THAT WHEN I BRAKE, MY WHOLE STEERING COLUMN SHAKES AND THE VEHICLE SWERVES TO HARD THAT I CAN BARELY STAY WITHIN THE LINES ON THE INTERSTATE. I FEARED FOR MY LIFE. I HAVE TRIED TO HAVE CHEVY LOOK INTO THIS AND EVERY TIME THEY JUST SLAP NEW ROTORS ON AND SEND ME ON MY WAY. THEY GIVE A 12,000 MILE WARRANTY ON ROTORS AND THEY ARE WARPING IN HALF THAT TIME. CHEVY HAS HAD TO REPLACE THEM FOR FREE UNDER WARRANTY 3 TIMES AND I HAVE HAD TO PAY ONCE. I FEEL LIKE ALL THEY WANT TO DO IS SLAP NEW PARTS ON INSTEAD OF FINDING THE PROBLEM OR HAVING A RECALL! I HAVE SPOKE TO CORPORATE, WHO AGREES SOMETHING ELSE IS WRONG BUT THEY WON'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. THEY SAY THEY'VE CHECKED EVERYTHING. I FINALLY GOT THE SERVICE SUPERVISOR TO ADMIT TO ME THAT THESE VEHICLES HAVE CRAPPY METAL ROTORS FROM CHINA AND THAT THEY HAVE BEEN FAILING IN THE SAFETY LANE TESTS FOR THEIR ABILITY TO BRAKE AND STOP IN THE REQUIRED DISTANCE. I FEEL THAT MY VEHICLE WAS OVERRATED TO IT'S WEIGHT LIMIT AND IT CANNOT STOP ITSELF IF IT HAS ANY KIND OF LOAD IN THE CARGO AREA. I HAVE ALREADY FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE US DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION HIGHWAY SAFETY ADMINISTRATION. I HAVE ALSO WORKED WITH A GENTLEMAN FROM THE CORPORATE OFFICE, HE SEEMED TO BE ON MY SIDE BUT WAS UNABLE TO DO ANYTHING. MY CASE #'S ARE 71-869-1333444.

WHILE DRIVING VAN AT START OF RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. AND NEED TO STOP AT TRAFFIC LIGHT. THE ROAD A HEAD OF ME MERGES FROM 3 LANE TO 2. WHEN LIGHT CHANGED I STEPPED ON PEDAL TO MERGE LEFT. AND GAS PEDAL STAYED TO FLOOR. I AM NOT SURE IF I STEPPED ON PEDAL A FEW TIMES TO GET IT UNSTUCK, AS I HAD MY FOOT ON BRAKE TO SLOW VAN DOWN. I AM NOT SURE OF THE SEQUENCE. BUT VAN THEN STARTING TO SLOW DOWN. ALL THIS HAPPEN IN UNDER A MINUTE. IF IT HAD NOT SLOWED DOWN I WOULD OF RAN IN TO THE BACK OF CAR IN FRONT OF ME. IT WAS VERY SCARY. BUT TOOK A QUICK LOOK AT PEDAL. AND SAID SAME THING AS TOYOTA "IT MUST OF BEEN FLOOR MAT. WE HAVEN'T SEEN OR HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM IN THIS VAN. VAN IS OUT OF WARRANTY. SPRING RETURN PRESSURE IS GOOD". I TOLD THEM I HAVE BEEN DRIVING FOR 40 YEARS AND THIS VAN FOR 2. AND NEVER HAD A PROBLEM LIKE THIS HAPPEN TO ME. SO I ORDERED A REPLACEMENT PEDAL. AND THEY SAID IT SHOULD BE IN 10-13-10. THAT IS TODAY. I WILL KEEP OLD PEDAL FOR FUTURE STUDY. I DON'T THINK PEOPLE BELIEVE ME AS I AM NOT LOOKING FOR ANY FAME. IT WAS JUST A SCARY TIME. *TR
