THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR HANDLE NO LONGER WORKS FROM THE OUTSIDE. IT FEELS LIKE THE DOOR HANDLE ISN'T LATCHING ON TO THE MECHANISM INSIDE THE DOOR TO OPEN IT. I CAN OPEN MY DOOR FROM THE INSIDE THOUGH. I HAVE FOUND ONLINE THAT IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND AM CONFUSED TO WHY NO RECALLS HAVE BEEN ISSUED OUT FOR THE FAULTY DOOR HANDLE BRACKETS.
THE GAS PEDAL GOES WITH GAS AND DECELERATES ON ITS OWN. BRAKE BOOSTER DOES NOT FUNCTION CORRECTLY. THE MOTOR SHAKES AND LOOSES HORSEPOWER.
MY IGNITION SWITCH IS GETTING STUCK AND IT IS NOT ALLOWING ME TO TURN ON THE CAR. IT IS HARD TO TURN ON MY VEHICLE. THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER IS MARKING ON MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, IT ISN'T ALLOWING MY VEHICLES MOTOR TO VENT OUT.
ENTERED VEHICLE AS USUAL CLOSED DOOR AND BEGAN DRIVING (VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION). WHILE IN OPERATION DRIVING DOWN A CITY STREET THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR SWUNG OPEN. I ATTEMPTED TO CLOSE DOOR IMMEDIATELY BUT DOOR WOULD NOT CLOSE. IT BOUNCED OPEN AT EVERY ATTEMPT. I PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHERE AFTER MANY ATTEMPTS I WAS ABLE TO CLOSE THE DOOR. I ATTEMPTED TO OPEN DOOR TO GET INTO THE VEHICLE THE DOOR LATCH PULLED BUT THE DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN LATCH REMAINED IN PULLED POSITION AND DOOR UNABLE TO BE OPENED AT ALL. THIS MALFUNCTION APPEARS TO BE A BROKEN DOOR LATCH WHICH WAS RECALLED FOR VEHICLES (NOT INCLUDING MINE) NHTSA RECALL NUMBER 17V652000. HOWEVER FORD STATED MY VIN WAS NOT COVERED UNDER RECALL. I AM CURRENTLY AWAITING A ESTIMATE FOR REPAIR AS IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TO OPERATE THE VEHICLE IN THIS CONDITION.
IF YOU HIT YOUR BRAKES AND THE ABS ACTIVATES MOMENTARILY BECAUSE YOU HIT A BUMP WHILE BRAKING OR JUST BECAUSE YOU HIT THE PEDAL A BIT TOO HARD, A LOSS OF BRAKES OCCURS. THE VALVE INSIDE THE HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT RESPONSIBLE FOR ACTIVATION OF THE ABS FAILS TO CLOSE COMPLETELY CAUSING FLUID BYPASS AND NO BRAKE PRESSURE RESULTING IN THE PEDAL FALLING TO THE FLOOR. AFTER SOME TIME, THE PEDAL RETURNS TO NORMAL FUNCTION AND THE HCU VALVE SEEMINGLY SEALS BE IT THE SAME DRIVE, OR A COUPLE DRIVES . THIS OCCURS AT RANDOM, ONLY WHEN THE CORRECT AMOUNT OF BRAKE PRESSURE AND ROUGH ROAD CONDITIONS COMBINE FOR THE ABS TO ACTIVATE. HOWEVER, THE BREAKS DO NOT RETURN IMMEDIATELY, SO YOU ARE FORCED TO DRIVE WITH VIRTUALLY NO BRAKES TILL IT FINALLY RESOLVES ON ITS OWN. THIS HAS HAPPENED IN STORMS, WHERE I HAD TO STOP HARD DUE TO DEBRIS IN THE ROAD. THIS IS ESPECIALLY PROBLEMATIC WHEN EXITING A HIGHWAY AND THE EXIT RAMP IS MILLED, SO WHEN YOU ARE BREAKING AND HIT THE GROOVED SECTION THE BRAKES DISAPPEAR. THIS ALSO OCCURS IF YOU HIT A ROUGH PATCH OF ROAD OR POTHOLE WHILE BREAKING. THIS IS INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS, WITH THE ROOT CAUSE BEING A DEFECTIVE VALVE DESIGN IN THE HCU AND IS A COMMON ISSUE ACROSS THE FORD LINEUP. THE ISSUE IS THE PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT, HARD TO DIAGNOSE, AND ALWAYS MISDIAGNOSED AS AIR IN THE SYSTEM. THE ROOT CAUSE IS A FAULTY HCU CAUSING A VALVE TO FAIL TO SEAT PROPERLY AND ALLOW PRESSURE BLOWBY. THIS IS GOING TO LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE IT IS NOT PREDICTABLE, AND IT DOES NOT RECOVER UNTIL SOME TIME HAS PASSED. SO IMAGINE A FOCUS EXITING THE HIGHWAY AND LOSING THE BRAKES UNEXPECTEDLY AND FOR THE REST OF THE DRIVE - THAT IS A DISASTER WAITING TO HAPPEN. NO INDICATION OF ANYTHING ABNORMAL IN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER, NO LIGHTS. THIS HAPPENED AGAIN THE OTHER DAY AND IT HAS YET TO RESET ITSELF - FORD NEEDS TO FIX IT!! LOSS OF BRAKES FROM HITTING A BUMP - SO DANGEROUS! *LN*JB
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD MY THROTTLE CONTROL/TRANSMISSION LIGHT JUST POPS ON AN I LOSE A GREAT AMOUNT OF POWER AND ACCELERATION. I'VE OWNED THE CAR FOR ABOUT A MONTH NOW AN HAD THE SENSOR ON THE THROTTLE BODY WHICH SEEMED TO HELP FOR ABOUT 2 DAYS THEN THE LIGHT POPPED BACK ON. IT DOES THIS A LOT WILL DRIVE FINE FOR ABOUT 25-30 MINUS AT ABOUT 50-55 MPH THE LIGHT POPS ON WITH ABOUT 30MPH WORTH OF POWER.I PULL OVER TURN THE CAR OFF AND ON IT TURNS THE LIGHT OUT AN ALL POWER IS RESTORED. I'VE LOOKED ONLINE AND EVERYONE SEEMS TO POINT TO THE THROTTLE BODY GOING BAD. THE CAR IS IN PERFECT SHAPE AND HAS A FRESH ALL AROUND TUNE UP.

THE CYLINDER IN THE IGNITION WAS REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED A THIRD TIME. THE IGNITION WAS REPAIRED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO INSTALLED A PIECE OF CARDBOARD IN ORDER TO START THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 104,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE KEY FAILED TO TURN IN THE IGNITION SWITCH. INITIALLY, THE KEY HAD TO BE PUSHED DOWN FOR IT TO TURN AND START THE VEHICLE. CURRENTLY, THE CONTACT HAD TO UNLOCK THE STEERING WHEEL AND WIGGLE IT UNTIL THE KEY TURNED AND STARTED THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT NO FAILURE CODE WAS FOUND. THE CONTACT CALLED FIRST FORD (LOCATED AT 292 WILLIAM S CANNING BLVD, FALL RIVER, MA 02721, (508) 730-1000) AND WAS INFORMED TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER AND WAS NOT REPAIRED DUE TO THE DIAGNOSTIC AND REPAIR FEES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 167,845.
WHEN I PUT KEY IN IGNITION MOST TIMES IT DOESNT CATCH AND CAR DOESNT TURN ON. I HAVE TO PUSH HARDER TO CRANK CAR ON OR TAKE KEY OUT SEVERAL TIMES AND KEEP TRYING UNTIL IT CATCHES. SOMETIMES WHEN I PULL KEY OUT PART OF IGNITION SWITCH PULLS OUT A LITTLE AND CAR VEGINS TO CHIME UNTIL I PUSH IGNITION SWITCH BACK IN. I KNOW THERE WAS A SIMILAR RECALL UNTIL THE 2005 MODEL, THIS ISSUE WAS NEVER FIXES FROM ALL THE RESEARCH IVE DONE ON THIS ISSUE
MY SON REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE AT ABOUT 35 MPH AIR BAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY OTHER VEHICLE WAS STOPPED
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE WILL NOT STOP. ON HIGHWAY AND REGULAR STREETS. BRAKE PEDALS APPLIED BUT ARE PUSHED TO THE FLOOR. TO STOP I PUMP BRAKES AND EVENTUALLY THEY COME BACK. REPORTED PROBLEM TO DEALER BUT WAS TOLD NOTHING WAS WRONG. HAVE REPLACED MASTER CYLINDER AND BRAKES IN THE LAST YEAR BUT PROBLEM STILL PERSISTS. ALMOST HAD ACCIDENT YESTERDAY AND AM TERRIFIED OF DRIVING CAR. DON'T REMEMBER ANY RECALLS BUT HAVE BEEN READING OTHER PEOPLE'S COMMENTS ON THIS SAME PROBLEM. WHAT IS THE FIX FOR THIS!!! NO ONE SEEMS TO KNOW!!! THIS CAR STILL HAS LOW MILEAGE I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THE VEHICLE BUT I HAD THE SAME PROBLEMS BUT DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO BECAUSE I ALWAYS TOOK CAR TO DEALER FOR SERVICE AND THEY KEPT SAYING NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE CAR. I HAVE ALL OF MY SERVICE RECORDS AND PAPERS BUT SOLD THE CAR TO MY DAUGHTER [XXX] LAST YEAR AND SHE KEEPS HAVING SAME ISSUES. I HAVE TOLD HER TO GET RID OF THE CAR BECAUSE IT IS NOT SAFE. I DROVE CAR FOR 10 YEARS WITH THIS PROBLEM AND WAS LUCKY NOT TO HAVE AN ACCIDENT BUT DID HAVE SOME CLOSE CALLS. AT THIS POINT I WANT TO KNOW EXACTLY WHAT THE PROBLEM IS AND HOW TO FIX IT BECAUSE SHE IS A SINGLE MOTHER WITH NO MONEY TO BE BUYING CARS. I SAW A COMPLAINT THAT IT COULD BE THE ABS PUMP BUT THE 2008 WAS A ONE YEAR DESIGN AND CAN'T BE PURCHASED ANYMORE, IF THIS IS THE CASE THEN WE ARE SCREWED. PLEASE ADVISE WHAT THE CORRECT FIX IS IF YOU CAN.[XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).' *PM *TR

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000. THE VIN WAS INVALID.
MY VEHICLE WAS IN A HEAD ON COLLISION IN WHICH THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY ON THE DRIVER SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE, WHICH IN TURN CAUSED SIGNIFICANT INJURY TO BOTH PARTIES OCCUPYING THE VEHICLE AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT.
BBOUGHT THE CAR FROM PRIVATE PARTY AND BROUGHT IT TO A SHOP TO BE LOOKED OVER THE BAD A MANCANIC TOOL SCAN THE CAR PASSENGER AIR BAGS ARE NOT RESPONDING TO THE COMPUTER DON'T KNOW HOW MANY OTHER CARS HAVE THIS ISSUE BUT ITS NOT EVEN PULLING A AIRBAG INDICATOR LIGHT ALSO IT FAILED A TEST THE MANCANIC RAN IT SAID PASSENGER AIR BAG NOT RESPONDING AND IN THE EVENT OF A CAR ACCIDENT ALL AIR BAGS MAY NOT GO OFF THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN AND ALSO FOR THE SAFETY OF MY PASSENGERS AND MY SELF. AIR BAG LIGHT STILL COME ON WHEN THE CAR RUNS A EQUIPMENT CHECK. AND GOES AWAY AFTER THE CHECK IS DONE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING, BUT A FAILURE CODE COULD NOT BE LOCATED. IN THE PROCESS, THE MECHANIC DISCOVERED THAT THE SUBFRAME WAS SEVERELY CORRODED AND DEEMED THE VEHICLE UNSAFE TO DRIVE. "TAKATA RECALL" THE PASSENGER SEAT IS NOT REGISTERING THAT THERE'S SOMEONE SITTING THERE WHO 5'5" AND WEIGHS ALMOST 135 POUNDS AND IS WEARING HIS SEATBELT. SO THE AIRBAG LIGHT ON THE BOTTOM RIGHT OF THE CENTER CONSOLE COMES ON AND SAYS "PASSENGER AIRBAG OFF" AND THE YELLOW AIRBAG LIGHT STAYS LIT UP ON THE DRIVERS DASHBOARD UNTIL THE CAR IS SHUT OFF, ALL WITH SOMEONE WHO'S BIG ENOUGH FOR THE AIRBAG SENSOR TO KNOW HE'S SITTING THERE. ALL VEHICLES HE SITS IN THAT HAVE SENSORS FOR AIRBAGS FOR THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT ALWAYS READ THAT HE'S SITTING THERE, SO I KNOW HE'S BIG ENOUGH TO SET THE SENSOR OFF AND FOR IT YO KNOW HE'S SITTING THERE AND TO ACTIVATE THE PASSENGER AIRBAG. PICTURES ARE OF THE YELLOW AIRBAG LIGHT ON THE DRIVERS, THE CENTER CONSOLE "PASSENGER AIRBAG OFF", AND A FEW SHOWING WHERE HE'S SITTING IN THE SEAT AND BOTH THE YELLOW LIGHTS ARE STILL ON. THE YELLOW LIGHTS ARE ONLY ON WHEN THE VEHICLE IS RUNNING, IN MOTION, ON HIGHWAY, STOPPED, ON CITY STREETS, TURNING, AND GOING FORWARD. (ITSL'S ALRIGHT TO SHARE ALL PICTURES PUBLICLY, I KNEW THEY'D BE SHARED WITH THE PUBLIC BEFORE TAKING THEM.)
"TAKATA RECALL" THE DRIVERS SEAT BELT STAYS PUSHED IN WHEN YOU PUSH THE RED RELEASE BUTTON TO TAKE OFF YOUR SEATBELT. UNLIKE THE FRONT PASSENGER SEATBELT AND THE THREE BACK SEATBELTS THAT ALL FOUR COMPLETELY RELEASE WHEN YOU UNDO YOUR SEATBELT, NONE OF THEM STAY PRESSED IN THEY ALL FULLY RELEASE. THE 1ST PICTURE IS THE FRONT PASSENGER SEATBELT RELEASE, 2ND PICTURE IS THE BACK PASSENGER & BACK MIDDLE SEATBELT RELEASES, 3RD PICTURE IS THE BACK DRIVERS SEATBELT SEATBELT RELEASE, & THE 4TH & 5TH PICTURES ARE THE FRONT SEATBELT RELEASE FROM TWO DIFFERENT ANGLES SHOWING HOW IT'S STILL PUSHED IN & NOT FULLY RELEASED EVEN THOUGH THE SEATBELT IS UNBUCKLED SO THE BUTTON SHOULD BE FULLY RELEASED.
THE INGNIITION SWITCH WENT OUT FOR A SECOND TIME. I REPLACED IT ONCE BUT DECIDED TO PUT A START BUTTON ON MY CAR. I CAN'T AFFORD TO PAY FOR AN ANOTHER INGNIITION SWITCH. THEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL ON IT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD FOCUS. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO START THE VEHICLE, IT FAILED TO START. THE DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY WOULD MAKE A NOTE OF THE FAILURE, BUT NOTHING COULD BE DONE AT THIS TIME. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,000.
ABS PUMP IS MALFUNCTIONING. CAR HAS "SOFT PEDAL" THAT IS NOT RESOLVED BY REPLACEMENT OF MASTER CYLINDER, BRAKE BOOSTER OR THOROUGH BLEEDING OF THE BRAKES (INCLUDING ELECTRONIC BLEEDING OF THE ABS). IN ADDITION, AFTER ABOUT 5-10 MINUTES OF DRIVING, THE BRAKES START TO CLAMP DOWN ON THE ROTORS WITHOUT DRIVER INPUT. THE FRICTION IS ESPECIALLY BAD WHEN DRIVING AT HIGH SPEEDS (E.G., ON A HIGHWAY), TO THE POINT WHERE THE CAR BEGINS TO VIBRATE FROM THE FRICTION. BUT IT WILL ALSO SHOWS SIGNS OF BRAKE DRAG EVEN AT LOWER SPEEDS (E.G., 30-50 MPH). NO ABS LIGHTS/WARNINGS/CODES CAME ON, BUT MECHANIC (CHRISTIAN BROTHERS AUTOMOTIVE, LOCATED IN HOUSTON TX AREA) CONFIRMED THROUGH MANUAL TESTING THAT ABS PUMP WAS MALFUNCTIONING. AS IT TURNS OUT, I AM TOLD THE ABS PUMP FOR THE 2008 MODEL WAS A ONE-YEAR DESIGN AND WAS DISCONTINUED AND CANNOT BE PURCHASED ANYWHERE NOW. THE PROBLEMS ALL STARTED ABOUT ONE YEAR AGO.
THE BREAK MASTER CYLINDER HAS BEEN LEAKING SINCE 70,000 MILES. SINCE THEN, THE BREAK OIL HAS BEEN ADDING WHENEVER A PARKING BREAK LIGHT WAS TURNED ON. I HAVE DRIVEN MORE THAN 10 DIFFERENT USED AND NEW CARS IN DOMESTIC AND IMPORT. THIS IS FIRST TIME TO HAVE THE BREAK MASTER CYLINDER ISSUE. IT IS NOW 156,000 MILES. THE LEAKING BREAK OIL SEEMED TO BE DEPEND ON THE NUMBER OF THE BREAK PUSHING. THE OIL DOESN'T SEEM TO BE LEAKING WHEN THE CAR IS IN PARKING. FOR EXAMPLE, I PARKED THE CAR MORE THAN 3 WEEKS BECAUSE I TRAVELED. WHEN I CAME BACK, I DIDN'T NOTICE THE BREAK OIL LEVEL CHANGED. THE SHORTEST REFILLING THE BREAK OIL WAS WITHIN A WEEK. ONE OCCASION, IT LASTED OVER 3 MONTH. THERE WAS NO CAR ACCIDENT INVOLVED IN THIS CAR. THERE WAS NO MECHANICAL MODIFICATION DONE ON ANY OF THE PART. THIS WAS EXACTLY THE SAME CAR THAT CAME OUT FROM THE FACTORY. THE DRIVING CONDITION WAS USUALLY A CITY BOUNDARY WITH WELL PAVED ROAD. THE LONGEST DRIVING WAS 300 MILES. THE LEAKING OIL USUALLY WENT DOWN CLUTCH PEDAL THAT MADE THE PEDAL SLIPPERY. IF I HAD A HAND TOWEL TO ABSORB THE LEAKING OIL, I HAD TO CHANGE IT ONCE A MONTH OR TWO MONTH. THE BREAK OIL DIDN'T SEEM TO LEAK OUTSIDE OF THE CABIN. THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT WAS CLEAN AND DRY.
STARTING ISSUES RELATED TO IGNITION HOUSING AND OR SWITCH. HAD TO PAY $500 TO HAVE REPLACED. WAS TOLD BY REPAIR SHOP THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH FORD VEHICLES ESPECIALLY THE FOCUS SERIES. THERE ARE ALSO NUMEROUS YOUTUBE VIDEOS DOCUMENTING THE SAME ISSUE AS WELL AS SEVERAL FORUMS AND ARTICLES THAT CAN ALL BE FOUND WITH AN EASY SEARCH ON THE WEB. MY CAR STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS STARTING AT AROUND 100,000 MILES UNTIL IT WOULD START AT ALL.
I HAVE REPLACED THE TIRES ON THIS VEHICLE 5 TIMES IN 6 YEARS. THE CAR WAS PURCHASED IN 2010, ONLY 2 YEARS OLD, AND THE FIRST SET OF TIRES WAS REPLACED IN 2011. EACH TIME THE TIRES ARE REPLACED IT'S BECAUSE THERE IS ABNORMAL WEAR ON THE INSIDE OF THE TIRES; SO MUCH DAMAGE, THE STEEL RADIAL FROM TIRES IS STICKING OUT. I WAS TOLD I NEEDED NEW SWAY BAR LINKS; REPLACED THOSE AS WELL, BUT HAVE SINCE PUT ANOTHER NEW SET OF TIRES ON THIS CAR. WHEN I REPLACED THESE TIRES, I ALSO HAD TO REPLACE 3 LUG NUTS WHICH WERE BROKEN AS WELL. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS PROBLEM; MANY OTHERS ARE EXPERIENCING THIS SAME ISSUE. TWO MECHANICS HAVE TRIED TO FIGURE OUT WHAT IS CAUSING THE TIRES TO WEAR PREMATURELY AND UNEVENLY, AND I STILL HAVE NO ANSWER. MY TIRES WHICH ARE SUPPOSED TO BE GOOD FOR 45,000 MILES OR MORE, DEPENDING ON WHAT I BUY, AND NO MATTER WHAT BRAND I BUY, NONE HAVE LASTED 20,000 MILES. THE ONLY OPTION I HAVE IS TO REPLACE MY TIRES APPROXIMATELY ONCE A YEAR WHICH IS UNACCEPTABLE. I REFUSE TO SPEND MONEY REPLACING PARTS TRYING TO FIX THE PROBLEM BY "PROCESS OF ELIMINATION" BECAUSE NO ONE SEEMS TO KNOW WHAT THE ROOT CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM IS. THE PREMATURE, UNEVEN TIRE WEAR IS SIMPLY A "SYMPTOM" OF A DEFECT THAT NO ONE SEEMS TO BE ABLE TO IDENTIFY. THE FIRST THING YOU WILL NOTICE IS THE VIBRATION; WHICH CONTINUES TO GET WORSE EVEN AFTER ALIGNMENTS AND TIRE ROTATIONS. ALSO, THE LOW TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT WILL GO ON BECAUSE THE TIRES LOSE AIR SINCE THEY ARE WEARING PREMATURELY AND UNEVENLY. ONCE THIS STARTS HAPPENING, YOU MAY AS WELL START SAVING FOR A NEW SET OF TIRES; UNLESS FORD COMES CLEAN AND ADMITS THE DEFECT AND DOES A RECALL; BUT DON'T HOLD YOUR BREATH. ON THIS FORM, THERE IS A QUESTION THAT SAYS "WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN?" I HAD TO CHOOSE A YEAR SO I JUST PICKED ONE; IT HAS HAPPENED IN 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015, AND 2016.
OUR CAR IN 2017 WHILE DRIVING ON ROAD SUDDENLY STOPPED WITH ALL THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS ON. CAR GOT STUCK AND WE COULD NOT START ENGINE IN NEXT FEW MINS. AFTER FEW MINS EVERYTHING BACK TO NORMAL. WE STARTED DRIVING AGAIN. AND DID NOT HAVE THAT PROBLEM AGAIN FOR A WHILE. FAST FORWARD TO OCTOBER 2018 IT HAS DONE IT 3 TIMES NOW WHERE THE LIGHTS COME ON WHILE DRIVING AND IT DIES NO POWER AT ALL I HAVE TO PUT IN PARK AND TURN OFF. IT THEN NORMALLY STARTS RIGHT UP AGAIN. THIS STOPS IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC IN BUSY STREETS NEVER KNOW WHEN IT IS GOING TO HAPPEN. TOOK CAR TO LOCAL SHOP. THEY SAID SERIOUS PROBLEM BIT WHERE THEY COULD NOT DIAGNOSE. NEXT WENT TO FORD DEALER. SAME ISSUE HAPPENED IN FRONT OF THEM . THEY TOLD ME IT COULD BE IGNITION AS IT WAS OFF A LITTLE BUT THAT IT WOULD NOT START SO THAT WOULD NOT BE THE PROBLEM WITH IT DYING WHILE DRIVING. BUT AGAIN SAME PROBLEM. WE CALLED THEM AGAIN AND THIS TIME THEY HAD SIMILAR EXPERIENCE WHILE DRIVING CAR BACK TO SHOP. BUT AFTER GOING THERE THEY COULD NOT REPRODUCE PROBLEM. SO THEY SAID TO TAKE CAR BACK BUT ADVISED TO BE CAREFUL WHILE DRIVING AS CAR MIGHT STOP ANYTIME
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH, THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR OPENED INDEPENDENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. A LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE AIR BAG INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG MODULE FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH LITHIA FORD OF KLAMATH FALLS (2833 WASHBURN WAY, KLAMATH FALLS, OR 97603) WHO STATED THAT THERE WAS NO TSB OR RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 07V541000 (AIR BAGS). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 93,000.
I HAVE AN 2008 FORD FOCUS SE I BOUGHT IN 2016 AND HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH PASSENGER SEAT BELT NOT LOCKING IN PLACE, DOORS NOT LOCKING/UNLOCKING PASSENGER SIDE, AND THE BIGGEST PROBLEM I HAVE EXPERIENCED TWICE IS THE ENGINE REVVENING UP AND MAKING STRANGE NOISES LIKE IT IS GOING TO BLOW UP THE CAR DOES NOT INCREASE WITH SPEED BUT ENGINE REVS AND WHEN BRAKING THE REV WILL SPEED UP THEN DECREASE TO BREAK. PLEASE RECALL BEFORE I GET INTO AN ACCIDENT!!!!!
THE DRIVER SEAT BELT NO LONGER BUCKLES. IT WILL GO INTO THE HOLSTER BUT DOES NOT CLICK.
DOOR LOCKS STICK AND LOCK. VARIES WITH TEMPERATURE/DUST. UNKNOWN ACTUAL CAUSE BUT HAPPENS TO BACK DOORS. SOMETIMES DRIVERS SIDE SOMETIMES PASSENGER. MOST RECENT BACK DOORS ARE UNLOCKED AGAIN BUT DRIVERS SIDE FRONT WILL NOT OPEN FROM OUTSIDE BUT WILL FROM INSIDE. WHEN IT WAS BACK DOORS WOULD NOT OPEN FROM INSIDE OR OUT. DOES NOT MAKE A DIFFERENCE IF MOVING OR NOT. THIS STARTED WITH THE BACK PASSENGER SIDE DOOR AND THEN SWITCHED TO DRIVER SIDE OVER A YEAR AGO AND HAS BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE FOR ME. THE PASSENGER SIDE FINALLY RELEASED A COUPLE WEEKS AGO BUT DRIVERS SIDE WAS STILL LOCKED. AFTER A TRIP SHOPPING I HIT THE LOCK SWITCH BY ACCIDENT AND DOOR UNLOCKED. AFTER I OPENED THE DOOR IT DID NOT WANT TO LATCH. I FINALLY GOT IT TO CLOSE AFTER MESSING WITH THE LOCK BETWEEN COMPRESSED AIR, PB BLASTER AND GREASE. BOTH BACK DOORS ARE FREE NOW BUT MY DRIVERS SIDE FRONT DOOR WILL NOT OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE NOW. IT DOES NOT SEEM TO BE LOCKED BUT ITS NOT WORKING RIGHT. THE BACK PASSENGER WAS VERY SIMILAR BUT IT FREED ITSELF. NOT SO SURE I WILL HAVE ANY LUCK WITH THE NEW ISSUE.
IGNITION SWITCH THE CAR IS HARD TO START GOT TO PUSH KEY IN TO START
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD E-150 EQUIPPED WITH MICHELIN LTX M/S TIRES, SIZE: LT225/75R16. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE EXPLODED. THE CONTACT COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND NOTICED BUBBLES ON THE SIDEWALLS AND TREAD SEPARATION ON THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND ALL FOUR TIRES WERE REPLACED. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13T012000 (TIRES). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000. THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000.
DOOR LATCH WILL NOT CLOSE.DOOR BOUNCED OPEN UPON TRYING TO CLOSE IT. THIS IS THE 3RD DOOR LATCH! NEEDS TO BE RECALLED!!!
VEHICLE STATIONARY. UPON INSERTING THE KEY INTO THE IGNITION, THE ENGINE DOES NOT START. THIS OCCURS WITH SEVERAL TURNS OF THE IGNITION. ONCE THE KEY IS STRONGLY INSERTED OR WIGGLES AROUND THE ENGINE STARTS. RECENTLY DIAGNOSED AS A FAULTY IGNITION CYLINDER. IT HAPPENS DAILY!
OUR CAR IN FEB 2017 WHILE DRIVING ON ROAD SUDDENLY STOPPED WITH ALL THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS ON. CAR GOT STUCK AND WE COULD NOT START ENGINE IN NEXT FEW MINS. AFTER FEW MINS EVERYTHING BACK TO NORMAL. WE STARTED DRIVING AGAIN. SAME PROBLEM AGAIN. TOOK CAR TO LOCAL SHOP. THEY SAID SERIOUS PROBLEM BIT WHERE THEY COULD NOT DIAGNOSE. NEXT WENT TO INVERGROVE FORD DEALER. SAME ISSUE HAPPENED IN FRONT OF THEM . THEY DID SOMETHING. GAVE CAR BACK.
THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR DRIVER SIDE DOOR LATCH FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DOOR HAD TO BE SECURED WITH A ROPE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
I WAS DRIVING A FORD FOCUS 2008 AT APPROXIMATELY 15-20 MPH IN TRAFFIC AND DROVE DIRECTLY INTO THE BACK OF ANOTHER VEHICLE WITHOUT BREAKING. THE OTHER VEHICLE, A LEXUS SEDAN WAS STOPPED. THE FORD FOCUS WAS UP TO DATE ON ALL SAFETY INSPECTIONS AND AIRBAGS WERE SET ON. IN SPITE OF THIS, NO AIRBAGS DEPLOYED AND I SUSTAINED A HEAD INJURY FROM THE COLLISION.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD FOCUS. AFTER INSERTING THE KEY INTO THE IGNITION AND TURNING THE SWITCH, THE ENGINE WOULD NOT START. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD FOCUS. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO START THE VEHICLE, THE ENGINE WOULD NOT IMMEDIATELY START. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS PREVIOUSLY REPLACED IN 2012 FOR THE SAME FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 163,000.
HAVE PROBLEMS WITH PASSENGER DOOR AND BOTH REAR DOORS. DOOR WON'T LATCH AT TIMES AND POWER DOOR LOCK WON'T LOCK AT TIMES AND SOMETIMES WON'T UNLOCK OR BOTH.
ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS WHEN APPLYING BRAKES AND HITTING A BUMP AT THE SAME TIME THE PETAL WENT ALMOST TO THE FLOOR. THE FOURTH TIME THE PETAL DROPPED NEARLY TO THE FLOOR DURING HARD BRAKING. WITH THE ENGINE OFF PUMPING THE BRAKES A COUPLE OF TIMES THE PETAL CAME FIRMLY TO THE TOP. APPLYING PRESSURE TO THE PETAL AND TURNING ON THE ENGINE THE PETAL DROPPED NEARLY TO THE FLOOR. PUMPING THE PETAL SEVERAL TIMES RETURNED THE PETAL TO THE NORMAL OPERATING POSITION.
SWITCH TO START VEHICLE IS "STICKING" WHEN IT WORKS OR NOT STARTING AFTER 15+ ATTEMPTS. VERY ANNOYING & PERHAPS DANGEROUS WHEN ATTEMPTING TO START THE CAR. THE POP FEATURE, I BELIEVE , IS NOT ALLOWING THE VEHICLE TO START OR REMOVE THE KEY. CAR LESS THAN 80K MILES. OTHERWISE, LOVE THE CAR. CAR HASNT BEEN FIXED OR REPAIRED YET, LOOKING FOR RE-CALLS BC SEEMS TO BE A COMMON SITUATION.
SPONGY BRAKING ISSUES, RECENTLY THE BRAKES ON MY 2008 FORD FOCUS HAVE BECOME VERY SPONGY, I TOOK IT IN TO FIRESTONE AND THEY COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM. THEY SAID THAT MY FRONT AND REAR BRAKES WERE PERFECTLY NORMAL, BUT BEING THAT I DRIVE MY VEHICLE EVERYDAY I KNOW THAT SOMETHING IS UP. I AM FINDING IT HARD TO STOP AT RED LIGHTS AND ON THE HIGHWAY. IT'S ALMOST TO THE POINT WHERE I HAVE TO PRESS THE BRAKE PEDDLE THE FLOOR TO GET THE VEHICLE TO STOP. THE MECHANIC SAID THAT IT MAY BE THE MASTER CYLINDER OR A COMBINATION OF OTHER THINGS, BUT ONE THING IS TRUE FORD NEEDS TO DO A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE BEFORE SOMEONE DIES OR GETS HURT. I PRAY THIS DOES NOT FALL ON DEAF EARS AND ACTION IS TAKEN!!
THE MILEAGE ON THE VEHICLE WAS AT 83,000 MILES, AT THE TIME THE ISSUES BEGAN. WHEN THE CAR ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOPPED POSITION, THE 1-2 GEARS STARTED SLIPPING, CHECK ENGINE AND WRENCH LIGHT APPEARED. TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC, DIAGNOSTICS TEST STATED THAT IT WAS A "SHIFT SOLENOID D CLOSED" HAD MY MECHANIC REPLACE IT, IT STILL DID NOT WORK. I SPENT 400 BUCKS TO REPLACE THE D SOLENOID, AND THE CAR IS STILL IN THE SAME CONDITION! I HAVE SEEN COUNTLESS COMPLAINTS ON THIS ISSUE ONLINE, WHY HASN'T THERE BEEN A RECALL?! HAD I KNOWN THE 2008 FORD FOCUS SUCKED THIS BAD, I NEVER WOULD HAVE BOUGHT IT!
THE SPARK PLUGS KEEP BLOWING OUT OF THE ENGINE HEAD. SO FAR, 3 OUT OF 4 HAVE COME OUT. SOME MORE THAN ONCE AFTER REPAIRING WITH A HELICOIL.
OUR 2008 FORD FOCUS HAS BECOME INCREASINGLY HARDER TO CRANK. WE HAVE BEEN HAVE TO APPLY PRESSURE WHILE TURNING THE KEY AND NOW IT WON'T START AT ALL. I AM NOW STRANDED AT WORK UNTIL I CAN GET SOMEONE TO COME PICK ME UP. I HAVE BEEN TOLD IT IS A PIN INSIDE THE IGNITION THAT WEARS DOWN UNTIL IT CAN NO LONGER MAKE CONTACT WITH THE PART INSIDE TO GET CAR TO CRANK. I BELIEVE FORD REALLY NEEDS TO LOOK INTO THIS BECAUSE I HAVE SEEN MANY PEOPLE HAVING THIS ISSUE ON THIS AND OTHER WEBSITES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD FOCUS. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, IT FAILED TO START WHILE THE KEY WAS IN THE ON POSITION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 94,437. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
MANUALLY UNLOCKED VEHICLE FROM DRIVER'S DOOR, BUT LATCH WOULD NOT DISENGAGE TO OPEN THE DOOR. VEHICLE MUST BE ENTERED VIA THE PASSENGER SIDE AND THE DRIVER'S DOOR MUST BE OPENED FROM THE INTERIOR.
THE DOORS WILL NOT OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE & THE PASSENGER DOOR WILL NOT STAY CLOSED. THE PROBLEM STARTED ONE DAY WHEN IT WAS PARKED AT WAL MART & I COULD NOT GET INTO THE CAR UPON RETURNING TO IT. I POP TRUNK, PUSH SEAT DOWN & CRAWL THROUGH. THERE ARE MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS ON LINE WITH SAME ISSUES & RECALLS ON NEWER MODELS FOR SAME COMPLAINTS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD FOCUS. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK OR IN DRIVE, THE FRONT DRIVER, REAR DRIVER, AND REAR PASSENGER DOORS WOULD NOT LOCK. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16F698000 (LATCHES, LOCKS, LINKAGES). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
DRIVER SIDE DOOR WILL NOT OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE. 2 WEEKS LATER PASSENGER DOOR FAILED FROM THE OUTSIDE AS WELL. I DRILLED A HOLE THROUGH THE INTERIOR HANDLE AND STRUNG IT OUTSIDE THE DOOR SO I CAN GET INTO MY COUPE. YEAH THAT'S RIGHT ALL DOORS WILL NOT OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE. WHAT MAKES IT EVEN WORSE IS FORD IN THEIR INFINITE WISDOM DISCONTINUED BOTH PARTS I NEED TO FIX IT FAULTY THOUGH THEY MAY BE. 8S4Z-5421812-D (PASSENGER) AND POSSIBLY 8S4Z-5421813-B (DRIVER - THOUGH I'M NOT ENTIRELY CERTAIN THIS IS THE CORRECT MANUAL LOCK ASSEMBLY.) SO FORD PUT MILLIONS OF FAULTY LATCHES OUT THERE AND DISCONTINUED THE PART NEEDED TO FIX IT. IN THE MEANTIME I'M NOT ABLE TO KEEP MY CAR SECURED WITH ANY BELONGS I MAY PUT IN IT AS I HAVE TO HAVE A ROPE/STRING HANGING OUT ANYONE CAN WALK BY AND PULL TO GET IN MY CAR.
I WAS DRIVING ON FREEWAY AND HEARD A LOUD SOUND LIKE A GUNSHOT AND THEN GLASS STARTED ENTERING THROUGH MOON ROOF SHADE
IN JULY OF 2015 THE RIGHT FRONT DOOR OF MY CAR WOULD NOT OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE. IN JULY AND AUGUST OF 2016 MY DRIVERS DOOR WILL NOT OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE AS WELL AS THE BACK DOOR ON THE RIGHT SIDE. I'M DISABLED AND I HAVE TO LEAVE MY DOORS UNLOCKED SO THAT I CAN CRAWL INTO THE BACK SEAT AND OPEN MY DRIVERS DOOR WITH MY CANE TO GET IN.

THE TAKATA RECALL-BOTH OF MY DOOR LATCH ARE NOT WORKING ON MY FORD FOCU 2008
TAKATA RECALL ONE DAY WENT TO GET INTO MY CAR ON DRIVERSIDE AND MY DOORHANDLE BROKE FROM OUTSIDE, CAN OPEN IT FROM INSIDE BUT NOT OUTSIDE TOOK IT TO LOCAL DEALER THEY TOLD ME IT WOULD COST ME 200-300 DOLLARS TO FIX I DONT HAVE THAT KINDA MONEY SO I GET IN PASSINGER SIDE AND ROLL WINDOW DOWN SO I CAN REACH IN DRIVERS DOOR TO OPEN DOOR ITS A HASSLE
WE HAVE SPENT OVER 700$ TRYING TO FIX A IGNITION PROBLEM. NEVER RECEIVED A RECALL. THIS IS AWFUL. IT ISN'T FUN GETTING CAUGHT IN HOT WEATHER STUCK, NOT BEING ABLE TO START YOUR CAR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD FOCUS. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO CLOSE THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE DOOR, THE DOOR FAILED TO LATCH. THE OUTSIDE DOOR HANDLES HAVE BROKEN TWICE ON MY CAR, I CAN UNLOCK THE CAR BUT CANNOT OPEN THE CAR, CURRENTLY BOTH DOOR HANDLES ARE BROKEN ON THE CAR AND THE ONLY ACCESS INSIDE THE CAR IS THROUGH THE TRUNK, THE PART /LABOR TO FIX THE DOOR IS ABOUT $400 AND THE PART ONLY LASTS ABOUT A YEAR BEFORE IT BREAKS AGAIN. THE FIRST TIME THE DOOR HANDLE BROKE I HAD STEPPED OUT OF MY CAR WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING TO GET MY MAIL, WENT TO OPEN THE DOOR AND IT WOULD NOT OPEN! THERE WERE TWO EMT'S ACROSS THE STREET AND THEY CALLED THE DEPUTY SHERIFF TO HELP ME GET ACCESS TO THE CAR. THEY SAID IT WAS LUCKY THAT I HAD NOT HAD AN INFANT OR SMALL CHILD IN THE CAR. THIS IS TRULY A SAFETY ISSUE. I HAVE TO KEEP MY WINDOW ROLLED DOWN OR CRAWL THROUGH THE TRUNK UNTIL I CAN GET IT FIXED.
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR IT SHIFTS HARD INTO GEARS AND THEN IT DOESN'T WANT TO STAY IN 4TH GEAR WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. IT DOWN SHIFTS AND THEN WANTS TO RUN 3,000 OR HIGHER RPMS WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH DOWN THE HIGHWAY.
2008 FORD FOCUS SE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION BEGAN HARD DOWNSHIFTING AT ABOUT 30,000 MILES. DEALERSHIP STATED IT NEEDED"FLASHING". LEFT IT ONE DAY PICKED IT UP SHIFTED FINE. HAD NEW BATTERY INSTALLED APPROXIMATELY 2 YEARS AGO, BAD SHIFTING STARTED AGAIN. DEALERSHIP MAINTAINS OUT OF WARRANTY. CAR NOW HAS 58,000 MILES ON IT AND BAD TRANSMISSION. ENGINE FLOGS AT SLOW SPEEDS EVER SINCE PURCHASED. NO RELIEF IN SIGHT. WARMER IT GETS OUTSIDE, WORSE TRANSMISSION BEHAVES. THESE THINGS HAPPEN ALL OVER TOWN, THE CAR IS NOT CHOOSEY!!
I HAD TO PUSH THE KEY IN REALLY HARD TO START THE CAR. WELL, AFTER DOING THAT SO MANY TIMES IT EVENTUALLY STOPPED WORKING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE IGNITION KEY FAILED TO START THE VEHICLE NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TAKATA RECALL I HAVE 4 DOOR HANDLES THAT HAVE BROKEN TWICE AND HAVE 3 BROKEN DOOR HANDLES RIGHT NOW, INCLUDING THE DRIVERS DOOR. THE CAR IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY AND THE COST TO REPAIR IS $400 PER DOOR. I BELIEVE FORD SHOULD RECALL THESE DOOR HANDLES AND PAY FOR THE COST OF REPAIR ON THE BROKEN DOORS I HAVE NOW. IF I HAD A MEDICAL EMERGENCY WHILE DRIVING, NO ONE COULD OPEN MY DOOR TO HELP!
2008 FORD FOCUS DOES NOT ACCELERATE PROPERLY OR STALLS RANDOMLY. ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS I WAS IN TRAFFIC ON BOTH CITY STREETS AND HIGHWAYS AND NEARLY GOT HIT MORE THAN ONCE. I HAD THE PCM REPLACED BY A CERTIFIED FORD MECHANIC IN 11/14, IT HAD A TWO YEAR WARRANTY. IN 1/16 IT BEGAN DOING THE SAME THING. IT HAD TO BE REPLACED IN 4/16. AFTER REPLACING THE PCM AT A FORD DEALERSHIP THE SECOND TIME MY CAR STALLED OUT ON ME THE NEXT DAY. THE PCM CODE WAS THE SAME AT EACH LOCATION (CODE P00607). BOTH PCM'S WERE PURCHASED FROM FORD BRAND NEW. I AM NOW BEING TOLD BY THE FORD DEALERSHIP THAT THE FOLLOWING CODE (P0320) WAS OBTAINED. THEY INDICATED THE FOLLOWING WORK NEEDS TO BE DONE IN THE AMOUNT OF $575.00: THE COST OF THE REPAIRS INCLUDE: TUNE UP IS $260.00 THIS INCLUDES SPARK PLUGS ,SPARK PLUG BOOTS, AND 2 IGNITION COILS AND THE LABOR TO INSTALL THEM. THE COST TO REPLACED THE VALVE COVER GASKET THAT IS LEAKING OIL INTO THE SPARK PLUG VALLEYS IS $315.00 THIS INCLUDES THE PARTS AND LABOR. (SPARK PLUG VALLEYS #3 AND #4 HAVE OIL IN THEM.) MY CONCERN IS THAT THIS WAS NEVER A PCM ISSUE; HOWEVER, IT IS SOMETHING ELSE FEEDING MISINFORMATION TO THE PCM TO SEND INACCURATE CODES TO THE ENTIRE SYSTEM. THE PROBABILITY OF THREE PCM'S BEING FAULTY IN 1 YEAR IS NOT LIKELY. THIS VEHICLE HAS STALLED IN TRAFFIC ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION AND IS A RISK TO OTHERS AND MYSELF ON THE ROADS. I HAVE GRAVE CONCERNS REGARDING THE RELIABILITY AND SAFETY OF THE 2008 FORD FOCUS SE. FORD NEEDS TO INVESTIGATE AND CORRECT THIS SAFETY ISSUE.
I HAVE TO PUSH THE KEY IN REALLY HARD BEFORE THE ENGINE WILL TURN OVER...I JUST HOPE IT DONT LEAVE ME STRANDED ONE DAY....
YES LATELY OVER THE PAST COUPLE MONTHS I'LL PUT MY KEY INTO THE IGNITION AND GO TO START MY CAR NOTHING HAPPENS AT ALL NO CLICK NO NOISE NO LIGHTS COME ON. SO I WILL THEN PROCEED TO TURN THE CAR KEY BACK TO THE STARTING POSITION THEN TRY TO START MY CAR AGAIN AND YES NOTHING HAPPENS AGAIN NOT A PEEP. SO THEN I HAVE TO PROCEED TO TURN MY KEY BACK PULL MY KEY OUT STICK MY KEY BACK INTO THE IGNITION KIND THEN AS THE TWO TIMES PREVIOUSLY TURN TO START MY CAR AND IT ACTUALLY STARTS EXCEPT IT TAKES LIKE 2 SECOND HESITATION BEFORE IT ACTUALLY TURNS OVER MY IGNITION IS NEVER BEEN TAMPERED WITH MY CAR ONLY HAS 40,000 MILES ON IT SO I'M KIND OF CURIOUS AS TO WHY THIS IS HAPPENING BECAUSE I SEE SOMEBODY ELSE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM
THE KEY HAS TO BE PUSHED IN EXTREMELY HARD TO TURN ON THE ENGINE. IT TAKES SOMETIMES UP TO 5 MINUTES REPEATEDLY TURNING THE KEY FOR IT TO ENGAGE.
MY. 2008 FORD, FOCUS HAS FACTORY INSTALLED SUNSHINE SHIELD ON ALL WINDOWS. IT HAS BECOME IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE THROUGH THE BACK WINDSHIELD, ESPECIALLY AT NIGHT, THE INSTALLED SHADE HAD BECOME FOGGY! MY CAR EATS TIRES WHICH HAVE TO BE REPLACED APPROXIMATELY EVERY 2.5YEARS. THE HEATER/AIR-CONDITIONER FAN HAS SHORTED OUT 3 TIMES, THANKFULLY, NO FIRE HAS BEEN STARTED! ALL OF THESE COMPLAINTS OCCUR ON STATIONARY OR MOVING VEHICLE. THE ONLY COMPLAINT THAT HAS BEEN TAKEN TO THE SHOP IS THE TIRE COMPLAINT. NO PROBLEM WAS IDENTIFIED.
3 OF MY 4 DOOR HANDLES DO NOT WORK THE PIN CAME OUT INSIDE THE DOOR PANEL ALLOWING ME TO ONLY USE MY BACK PASSENGER DOOR TO GET IN MY CAR I HAD MY KEYS IN HAND BUT THE DOOR WOULDNT OPEN CAUSING ME TO CALL AAA TO GET IN IM VERY UNHAPPY AND I WILL BE CONTACTING ANYONE I HAVE TO IN ORDER TO FIX THIS IM NOT PAYING FOR IT.

WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKES TO PARK THE CAR THE WAS A LOUD RIFLE SHOT SOUND, FLASH AND VEHICLE JOLT FROM UNDER THE HOOD. AND THE BREAK WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. DURING REPAIR THE MECHANIC FOUND THAT THE PROBLEM WAS THE WITH THE MASTER CYLINDER CRUSE CONTROL CANCELLING SWITCH. THE SWITCH BLEW APART AND IGNITED THE ATOMIZED BREAK FLUID THAT WAS EXPELLED FROM THE MASTER CYLINDER. FORTUNATELY THE EXPLODING BREAK FLUID SELF EXTINGUISHED AVOIDING AN ENGINE COMPARTMENT FIRE. SINCE THE TRIGGERING OF THIS EVENT WAS THE ACT OF APPLYING THE BRAKES IT WAS ONLY BY CHANCE THAT IT DIDN'T HAPPEN AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE EVENT TOTALLY DISABLED THE FRONT BRAKES AND AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THE BRAKE FLUID MIST WOULD HAVE LIKELY IGNITED FURTHER BACK IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT OR UNDER THE CHASSIS. THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS RECALLS OF FORD PRODUCTS OVER A 20+ YEAR PERIOD FOR THIS SWITCH COMPONENT CAUSING BOTH FIRES AND DEATHS BUT THIS VEHICLE'S S/N WAS NOT ON THE LIST FOR GETTING NOTIFIED. LOOKS LIKE SOMEONE DIDN'T DO THEIR "HOMEWORK" ON THIS ONE, I AM NOT SURE THIS VEHICLE IS SAFE TO DRIVE. I HAVE THE REPAIR BILL FOR THE REPLACEMENT WORK AND THE GENTLEMAN SHOWED ME THE BLOWN OUT SHELL OF THE SWITCH. I PICKED UP ONE OF THE PARTS FROM OUR PARKING SLAB. I HAVE NOTIFIED FORD BY EMAIL.
2008 FORD FOCUS - 2 DR DRIVER DOOR ONLY KEYED ENTRY POINT... LOCKED CAR CAME BACK ...DOOR WOULDN'T OPEN WITH KEY .CALLED ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE AFTER THE 1ST TIME JUST LEFT UNLOCKED. TOOK CAR FOR OIL CHANGE FORGOT TO TELL THEM DON'T LOCK AND OF COURSE THEY LOCKED WHEN DONE.HAD TO CALL ROAD SIDE ASSISTANCE TO GET IT UNLOCKED. THIS IS REALLY UNSAFE IS THERE A RECALL ON THIS.

THIS IS A ONGOING PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLES SUSPENSION SINCE I HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE I HAVE REPLACED THE TIRES ON IT 4X THE REAR SUSPENSION CUPS THE TIRES AND MAKES IT BOUNCE I HAVE HAD MULTIPLE ALIGNMENTS AND I BOUGHT IT A 52.000 MILES N FOR THE LAST 4 YRS I HAVE BOUGHT MANY TYPES OF TIRES AND THIS CAR HAS RUINED THEM ALL, ALSO STRUT REPLACEMENT AND TIE RODS AND I JUST GOT A NEW RACKON PINION FOR THE STEERING WAS AFFECTED AND THE FLUID LEAKED OUT AND I HIGHWAY DRIVE, IT WOULD NOT PERFORM OVER 65MPH WITHOUT SHAKING TERRIBLY I SEE MORE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS CAR AND THIS SUPENSION PROBLEM AND STEERING AND IDOL JERKS ME FORWARD AND FEELS LIKE ITS GOING TO STAHL, THE MOTER MOUNTS AN TRANI MOUNTS ARE ALWAYS LOOSE OR NEED TO BE REPLACED, AN THE AC WENT ON IT AN BECAUSE IT'S BEHIND THE DASHBOARD THE HOUSING UNIT FOR THE EVAPORATOR IT COST 1000 TO REPLACE BECAUSE IT IS HARD TO GET TOO, THE INTERMITTEN FAN DOES NOT COME ON AT ALL IT NEVER CYCLES SO IT SMELLS LIKE BURNT ENGINE COMING IN THRU THE VENTS THAT MAKES ME SICK, I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS SINCE DAY ONE AFTER I TOOK IT BACK AFTER 2MONS THEY WANTED TO KEEP IT AND RE-DO THE WHOLE ENGINE AND TOLD ME I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR IT , THATS WHEN I SHOULD OF REPORTED IT AS A LEMON, IS FORD GOING TO WAIT UNTIL SOMEONE HAS A MAJOR BLOW-OUT AN FLIP THE CAR AN DIE THIS SHOULD BE A AUTOMATIC RECALL FOR SAFETY THIS CAR IS SO UNSAFE, THE FRAME IS ALL WRONG AND THE REAR IS NOT ALIGNED FROM THE FACTORY THIS IS AN IN HOUSE PROBLEM .
MY FOCUS DOOR LOCKS DO NOT WORK. NOT ONLY WILL THE ELECTRIC SYSTEM NOT LOCK AND/OR UNLOCK THE DOORS BUT IT IS PHYSICALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO LOCK THEM MANUALLY. SO THE CAR WHEREVER IT IS IS ALWAYS UNLOCKED. MY MECHANIC SAID THAT PARTS ARE BACK ORDERED FOR MONTHS OUT AS THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THE FOCUS. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN WHEN IT COMES TO THEFT BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY PREDATORS.
THE ELECTRONIC DOOR LOCKS BEGAN TO SEIZE UP OVER THE COURSE OF ABOUT A YEAR. NOW ONLY ONE DOOR WILL LOCK AND UNLOCK USING THE ELECTRONIC LOCKING SYSTEM. THE DOORS CAN BE LOCKED AND UNLOCKED MANUALLY BY PULLING AND PUSHING ON THE PLASTIC MANUAL DOOR LOCKS.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE BELTWAY THE CAR STALLS AND SHUTS OFF AND WILL NOT RESTART. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES AND ONCE A TRUCK JUST MISSED ME TRYING TO COAST TO THE EMERGENCY LANE. IT HAS BEEN TO TWO SHOPS THAT SAY NOTHING IS WRONG. TODAY I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND I FOUND THE OTHER COMPLAINT HERE ON THIS SITE WHILE LOOKING FOR RECALLS. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS FAILURE AND THESE IGNITIONS MISSING A SCREW SHOULD BE RECALLED BEFORE SOMEONE IS INJURED OR KILLED.
CAR STALLED IN TRAFFIC AND I COULD NOT GET IT STARTED. STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE IGNITION TO GET THE CAR STARTED. HAVE TO KEEP THE KEY PUSHED IN, STRAIGHTEN THE STEERING WHEEL TO GET IT STARTED AND SOMETIMES WOULD TAKE 10 TIMES. NOT A GOOD THING IN TRAFFIC. TOOK IT TO A DEALER AND FOUND OUT THAT THERE WAS A MISSING SCREW IN AN ENCLOSED CRIMPED AREA OF THE HOUSING FOR THE IGNITION WHICH I WAS THEN TOLD THAT WAS IMPOSSIBLE EXCEPT FOR AN ASSEMBLY ERROR. WAS TOLD THERE WAS NO WAY IT COULD HAVE FALLEN OUT. WE HAVE A STICK SHIFT SO IT IS VERY EASY TO STALL IT WHILE IN TRAFFIC IF NOT PAYING ATTENTION. WE ALMOST GOT HIT BECAUSE WE COULD NOT GET IT STARTED. THIS PROBLEM STARTING IT HAS GONE ON FOR SOME TIME, BUT IT HAD CONTINUED TO GET WORSE. WAS TOLD THIS ONE SCREW HOLDS THE HOUSING IN PLACE SO THE KEY WORKS PROPERLY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE IGNITION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,707. UPDATED 8/31/15*CN THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS REPLACED BY A REPAIR SHOP. UPDATED 09/08/15*JB
TRANSMISSION BEGAN TO SPUTTER ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS WAS THE 4TH OR 5TH TIME THE CAR HAD THIS PROBLEM. AFTER GETTING OFF THE HIGHWAY CAR STRUGGLED TO SHIFT INTO GEAR. THE CAR WOULD FREE REV AND KICK/SHAKE INTO GEAR.
THE CAR SUSPENSION IS EASILY UNALIGNED AND CAUSES THE CAR TO GO THROUGH TIRES AT AN ALARMINGLY ABOVE AVERAGE RATE. 30,000+ MILE TIRES DO NOT MAKE IT 20,000 WITHOUT SEVERE DAMAGE AND WEAR. AFTER OWNING THE CAR AND TAKING IT TO MANY DIFFERENT SHOPS THE RESULTS ARE ALWAYS THE SAME THAT MY CARS SUSPENSION IS NOT CORRECT. I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE 5 SETS OF SWAY BAR LINKS AND AT LEAST 8+ SETS OF TIRES IN THE 100,000 MILES I HAVE DROVE THE CAR. I HAVE RECEIPTS FOR 90% OF MY PURCHASES FOR REPAIRS, PARTS, AND SERVICE THAT ALL RELATE BACK TO THE CARS SUSPENSION NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY AND WEARING ABNORMALLY. *TR
I BROUGHT MY FIRST CAR IN MAY 2014. I STARTED NOTICING STEERING PROBLEMS 2-3 MONTHS AFTER I GOT IT. MY STEERING WHEEL BECAME VERY HARD TO TURN, ESPECIALLY WHEN PARKING. SO ON AUGUST 22, 2014 ME & MY DAD TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP SO THEY CAN SEE WHAT THE PROBLEM IS AND FIX IT (SINCE IT'S STILL UNDER WARRANTY) BUT ALL THEY DID WAS PUT STEERING FLUID IN IT AND A FEW WEEKS AFTER THE PROBLEM RETURNED. IN MARCH 2015 WE DECIDED TO TAKE IT TO THE FORD FACTORY DEALERSHIP BECAUSE THE STEERING GOT VERY UNBEARABLE AND THEY TOLD US THAT THE RACK SUSPENSION WAS BAD BUT THEY COULDN'T WORK ON IT BECAUSE THE DEALERSHIP THAT I BROUGHT IT FROM ALREADY TOLD THE WARRANTY COMPANY THAT THEY ALREADY FIXED THE PROBLEM (WHICH THEY DIDN'T) SO THE ONLY WAY THE FORD FACTORY COULD WORK ON IT IS IF THEY FIX IT WITHOUT THE WARRANTY WHICH WOULD COST $1500-1600 (WHICH I CAN'T AFFORD, JUST RECENTLY LOST MY JOB) SO APRIL 7, 2015-APRIL 13, 2015 I LEFT MY CAR AT THE DEALERSHIP I BROUGHT MY CAR FROM SO THEY WILL HAVE MORE TIME TO COMPLETELY FIX THE PROBLEM. WHEN I PICKED THE CAR UP THEY BASICALLY SAID THERE'S NOT MUCH THEY COULD DO AND THAT THE STEERING IS STILL ROUGH BUT NOT AS BAD SINCE THEY TOOK OUT THE OLD RACK SUSPENSION AND SUPPOSEDLY REPLACED IT WITH A NEW ONE, THEY DID NOT CHARGE US FOR THE WORK THAT THEY DID SO WE DIDN'T RECEIVE A RECEIPT AND THEY ONLY SHOWED US THE OLD RACK SUSPENSION THAT THEY TOOK OUT. SO IN CONCLUSION, MY STEERING IS STILL STIFF/ROUGH AND I'VE BEEN HEARING THAT IT MIGHT BE A RECALL ON THE CAR AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO. I'M STRESSED AND NEED ANSWERS. PLEASE HELP! *TR
THE VEHICLE DOES NOT EXCEED 50 MPH. THE CAR WOULD STALL AND JUMP UNDER THE HOOD. THE CAR DOES NOT ACCELERATE UP HILL. THE CAR ALSO SHAKES CONTINUOUSLY AND ROARS LOUDLY WHEN 40-50 MPH IS REACHED. THE WRENCH LIGHT COMES ON WHEN DRIVING BUT THE WRENCH LIGHT ALSO GOES AWAY WHEN YOU RESTART THE CAR. I TOOK THE CAR TO MECHANICS WHO STATED THEY COULD NOT SERVICE WHEN WRENCH LIGHT IS OFF. WHEN I DID TAKE IT TO THE MECHANIC WHEN THE WRENCH LIGHT WAS ON THE MECHANIC PLUGGED UP A SYSTEM AND INFORMED ME THAT IT MUST JUST BE A SENSOR. I AVOID HIGHWAYS BECAUSE THE CAR DOES NOT ACCELERATE AFTER 40-50MPH. I AM CONCERNED FOR MY SAFETY WHEN OPERATING THE VEHICLE. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE. I RELY ON MY VEHICLE AND AM DISAPPOINTED, AFRAID AND UNCERTAIN WHAT TO DO. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD E-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SHIFT FROM REVERSE INTO DRIVE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 53,000.
THE VEHICLE HAS FLAWED LATCHING MECHANISMS. WITHIN 6 MONTHS, 3 OUT OF MY 4 DOORS FAILED TO CLOSE. THEY STILL WILL NOT CLOSE. I WAS TAKING A TURN, WHEN MY REAR PASSENGER DOOR OPENED. I EVENTUALLY GOT IT TO CLOSE, HOWEVER AFTER SEVERAL USES, IT WILL NOT LATCH SHUT. NEITHER WILL THE REAR DRIVER DOOR. THE DRIVER DOOR HAD THE SAME PROBLEM, BUT I HAD IT FIXED. BOTH BACK DOORS ARE CURRENTLY DUCT TAPED SHUT DUE TO HIGH PRICE OF PARTS. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. I HAVE A FRIEND WITH A FOCUS WITH THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. IF A DOOR OPENS WHILE DRIVING, SOMEONE WILL GET SERIOUSLY HURT IN A COLLISION. *TR
THE CAR HESITATES AND STALLS WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP (ESPECIALLY ON A HILL). SOMETIMES THE "WRENCH" WARNING LIGHT COMES ON INDICATING (ELECTRONIC THROTTLE MALFUNCTION). WHEN THE WRENCH" WARNING LIGHT COMES ON IT DOES NOT STORE A CODE. WHEN IT STALLS IT ALWAYS WILL START BACK UP AND DRIVE FINE (UNLESS I AM ON A HILL) THIS HAPPENS WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP. IT ALSO HAPPENS WHEN MOVING AND ACCELERATING. THE LAST TIME IT HAPPENED THE CAR WENT INTO "LIMP HOME MODE" THERE WAS A LINE OF CARS BEHIND ME AND NO PLACE TO PULL OVER. I WAS MOVING ABOUT 10 MPH. WHEN I FINALLY WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR AND DROVE HOME WITH NO PROBLEM. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS IN TRAFFIC. THE CAR RUNS PERFECT IN ALL OTHER INSTANCES. I AM SURE THIS IS AN ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL PROBLEM. FORD HAS ADMITTED THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THESE ON OTHER MODELS OF FORD CARS MY 2008 FORD FOCUS HAS THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
IGNITION SWITCH FAILURE. REPEATED PROBLEM SINCE PURCHASED NEW!! KEY WON'T TURN LOCK OR GETS STUCK. *JS
I WAS IN AN ACCIDENT WHERE I REAR ENDED A TRUCK ON THE HIGHWAY GOING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH. THERE WAS AN ACCIDENT TO THE RIGHT OF ME ON THE HIGHWAY SHOULDER AND I LOOKED TO MY RIGHT AS I SAW A GUY GET OUT OF HIS CAR. I SWERVED AND LOOKED FORWARD. IT WAS AT THAT TIME THAT I SAW A TRUCK COMPLETELY STOPPED IN FRONT OF ME. I HIT THE TRUCK AND DID COMPLETE DAMAGE TO MY CAR. I AM CONCERNED BECAUSE THERE WAS EXTREME DAMAGE TO MY VEHICLE AND MY DRIVER'S AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. I HAD NO PASSENGERS IN THE CAR, NO OTHER AIRBAG DEPLOYED. MY STATE POLICE TROOPER WHO WAS ON THE SCENE SAID TO FILE A COMPLAINT BECAUSE MY AIRBAGS MOST DEFINITELY SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED. I SUFFERED SOME INJURIES AND I AM LOOKING INTO THIS MATTER FURTHER. I JUST HOPE IN THE MEAN TIME THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN TO SOMEONE ELSE AS IT COULD BE FATAL FOR THEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING OVER A BUMP AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE CONTACT HAD TO FIRMLY DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 32,000.
MY CAR SPUN AND HIT A GUARD RAIL ON THE BACK BUMPER. THIS THEN PUSHED THE CAR ACROSS THE ROAD WHERE THE FRONT END HIT THE SIDE OF A MOUNTAIN. I HIT MY HEAD ON THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE CAR DURING THE IMPACT AND WAS KNOCKED UNCONSCIOUS AND HAD TO BE TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL. MY FRONT AIR BAG AND MY SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. *TR
2008 FORD FOCUS AIR BAGS NEVER DEPLOYED IN CAR CRASH, CAR FLIPPED ONE AND A HALF TIMES AFTER SPINNING OUT. *TR
I WAS REAR ENDED WHILE STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT IN MY 2008 FORD FOCUS. IT WAS A VERY HIGH SPEED IMPACT (EST. 60-70 MPH) THAT THREW ME INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. MY CAR WAS TOTALED AND THE AIR BAGS NEVER DEPLOYED. I HAD A CERTIFIED MECHANIC RECORD THE COMPUTER AND LOOK AT THE DAMAGES. HE STATED THAT THE AIR BAGS SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED FROM THE DAMAGES TO THE FRONT SENSOR AS WELL AS THE SIDE IMPACT SENSOR. I AM STILL DEALING WITH MY INJURIES A YEAR AND A HALF LATER. TWO VERTEBRAE IN MY BACK WERE CRUSHED. *TR
I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE SINCE IT FIRST HIT THE CAR LOT WITH 15 MILES ON IT. SINCE PURCHASE, I HAVE CHANGED THE WHEEL BEARINGS 9 TIMES! THIS IS SCARY AS THE BEARINGS CAN BREAK APART AND CAUSE MY VEHICLE TO LOSE CONTROL. I HAVE HAD ENOUGH! NOW, THE BEARING IS BAD AGAIN, JUST CHANGED IN APRIL 2014. *TR
DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT DOOR NO LONGER OPENS FROM OUTSIDE. IN ORDER TO ENTER CAR, MUST EITHER ENTER THROUGH PASSENGER SEAT, OR LEAVE THE DRIVER'S WINDOW DOWN SO I CAN REACH IN AND OPEN THE DRIVER'S DOOR FROM THE INSIDE.THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE, BECAUSE IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT, EMERGENCY PERSONNEL WOULD BE UNABLE TO REMOVE THE DRIVER FROM THE VEHICLE, SINCE ALL OF THE CAR'S DOORS AUTOMATICALLY LOCK THEMSELVES! I HAVE FOUND SEVERAL OTHER COMPLAINTS OF THIS ISSUE ON THIS WEBSITE. *TR
I PURCHASED MY FORD BACK IN MAY OF 2014, IT HAD 60,000 MILE AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE. THE CAR PASSED ALL INSPECTIONS. I DID PURCHASED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. FOR THE PAST WEEK I NOTICED THE CAR FELT AS IF IT WAS IDLING HIGH AND NOT ACCELERATING PROPERLY, ON AND OFF. ON OCTOBER 23, 2014, WHILE DRIVING AT 20-25 MILES PER HOUR, THE CAR BEGAN TO SHAKE AND IT FELT AS IF IT WAS GOING TO BE LOOSING POWER, THE CAR NEVER SHUT OFF, IT REDUCED IN SPEED AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE, SOON AFTER THE WRENCH SIGN APPEARED. I TURNED OFF THE CAR AND RESTARTED IT, THE WRENCH SIGN WAS GONE AND THE CAR DROVE AS IT HAD PRIOR TO THE LIGHT APPEARING. I TOOK THE FORD INTO MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY DIAGNOSED THE ISSUE AS BEING THE THROTTLE BODY AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I WAS TOLD THAT MY WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER THE THROTTLE BODY AND WAS QUOTED $840.00 FOR PARTS AND LABOR. *TR
I WENT SHOPPING WITH MY NIECE LAST YEAR AROUND THIS TIME AND I LOCKED MY CAR THE 2008 2 DOOR FORD FOCUS SES, I HAD COME OUT WITH IT POURING RAIN AND I GOT LOCKED OUT OF THE CAR ONLY INSTEAD OF THE KEYS BEING INSIDE THE VEHICLE IT JUST WASN'T WORKING. I RAN BACK INTO WAL-MART THINKING IT WAS THE KEYPADS BATTERY BUT NOPE SOON TO FIND OUT IT WAS WORKING FINE BUT THE CAR DIDN'T WANT TO UNLOCK, SO I HAD TO CONTACT MY BOYFRIEND TO COME GRAB MY NIECE UNTIL THE LOCKSMITH GOT TO ME. HE CLICKED THE INSIDE UNLOCK BUTTON MANY MANY TIMES AND STILL COUPLING GET IN, WE TRIED USING THE ACTUAL KEY ITSELF STILL WOULDN'T WORK SO I HAD TO USE THE METAL ROD THAT'S NORMALLY USED FOR UNLOCKING THE CAR TO CLIMB FROM THE TRUNK AND GET THE LATCH THREW THE SEATS TO CLIMB ALL THE WAY THREW THE CAR SO ABOUT 5 HOURS LATER I FINALLY GOT INTO MY CAR AND OPENED THE PASSENGER DOOR FIRST AND EVER SINCE MY OUTSIDE PASSENGER DOOR HANDLE WILL NOT WORK. THIS HASN'T HAPPENED TO ME QUITE LIKE THIS BUT I'VE OWNED 6 FOCUSES THAT ALL THE DOOR HANDLES HAD TO BE REPLACED MULTIPLE TIMES. THIS LOCKOUT THING HAS HAPPENED TO ME SEVERAL TIMES SO I CAN'T EVEN LOCK MY CAR AND I KEEP THE WINDOW DOWN JUST INCASE. *TR
THE NHTSA BY TELLING TIRE DEALERS THAT THEY CAN NOT INSTALL MY MOUNTED SNOW TIRE BECAUSE THEY DON'T HAVE TPMS SENSORS HAVE MADE DRIVING IN THE WINTER MORE DANGEROUS AND UNSAFE FOR ME. THE SYSTEM IN MY SUMMER TIRES HAS BEEN INOPERABLE FOR 2 YEARS AND YOU KNOW WHAT HAS HAPPENED... ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. THE COST OF THE SENSORS IS VERY HIGH AND IF YOU GUYS WANT ME TO HAVE THEM SO BADLY, THEN PAY FOR THEM YOURSELVES. THIS IS JUST ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF NANNY STATE GOVERNMENT TRYING TO MAKE IT LOOK LIKE THEY ARE DOING SOMETHING TO JUSTIFY THEIR PATHETIC EXISTENCE. SO IN SUMMARY YOU ARE ACTUALLY MAKING THINGS MORE DANGEROUS FOR DRIVERS BY DENYING TIRE RETAILERS FROM INSTALLING SNOW TIRES ON MY VEHICLE BECAUSE THEY DON'T HAVE A WORTHLESS SENSOR THAT DOESN'T DO ANYTHING TO MAKE DRIVING SAFER FOR ME. I HOPE YOU GUYS ARE HAPPY WITH YOURSELVES . *TR
EVAPORATOR CORE LEAKING. *TR
RANDOMLY THE BACK DOORS WILL NOT OPEN. THEY WILL REMAIN IN THE "LOCKED" SETTING. THEY WILL NOT OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE OR INSIDE. UNABLE TO MANUALLY UNLOCK/OPEN EITHER DOOR. SOMETIMES BOTH DO THIS SIMULTANEOUSLY AND OTHER TIMES IT WILL BE ONE OR THE OTHER. I BOUGHT THIS CAR NEW AND THIS STARTED HAPPENING A FEW YEARS LATER. IT WAS SELDOM IN THE BEGINNING BUT NOW IT IS ALMOST ALWAYS THAT ONE OR BOTH DOORS WILL NOT OPEN. IF I CARRIED BACK SEAT PASSENGERS OFTEN THIS WOULD BE A MAJOR PROBLEM AS THIS IS A SMALL CAR AND VERY LITTLE ROOM AVAILABLE TO CRAWL IN/OUT FROM FRONT SEAT. THIS COULD EASILY TURN INTO AN EMERGENCY SITUATION ON A HOT DAY AND A LARGE PERSON LOCKED INSIDE UNABLE TO GET OUT. A WHILE BACK THE FRONT DOOR HANDLE ALSO BEGAN STICKING. THE DOOR UNLOCKS BUT THE HANDLE DOESN'T ALWAYS FEEL LIKE IT RELEASES ALL THE WAY TO ALLOW THE DOOR TO OPEN. THEN WHEN IT DOES OPEN, SOMETIMES THE HANDLE HAS TO BE MANUALLY PUSHED BACK INTO THE DOOR BEFORE THE DOOR WILL LATCH. *TR
THE BACK DOOR WON'T UNLOCK THERE FOR RESULTING IN NOT BEING ABLE TO OPEN THEM AT ALL. *TR
MY FATHER IS DISABLED. ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS, HE HAS BEEN LOCKED INSIDE HIS CAR DUE TO THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR NOT OPENING FROM THE INSIDE. HE HAS STRUGGLED TO CRAWL OUT OF THE PASSENGER'S DOOR. HE ALSO HELPS TO TAKE CARE OF HIS 91 YEAR OLD MOTHER. I PRAY THAT THEY WILL BOTH BE ABLE TO GET OUT OF THE CAR WHEN THIS HAPPENS. WHAT IF THIS HAPPENED WHILE A CHILD WAS IN THE CAR IN THE HEAT OF THE SUMMER? HIS VEHICLE IS A 2008 FORD FOCUS S/SE/SES. *TR
THIS 2008 FORD FOCUS HAS HAD SLIPPING WITH THE TRANSMISSION IN 4TH GEAR FROM 30000 MILES WHEN I TOOK TO DEALER THEY SAID UNTIL IT HAS A COMPLETE FAILURE THEY WOULD NOT TAKE DOWN AND INSPECT THE TRANSMISSION.IT IS NOW OUT OF WARRANTY AND I SOLD CAR TAKING A SIGNIFICANT LOSS. AT 58,000 THE 4TH GEAR COMPLETELY FAILED CAR COULD NOT BE DRIVEN OVER 30-40 MPH .IF THIS HAPPENED ON A EXPRESSWAY A TERRIBLE ACCIDENT COULD HAVE HAPPENED.I'M AM SURE I AM NOT A UNIQUE FORD OWNER WITH THIS PROBLEM. FORD SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE AND A RECALL ON THIS CAR SHOULD HAVE TAKEN PLACE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE LOSS POWER AND STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 61,640.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SHIFT INTO DRIVE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT HE WAS ABLE TO SHIFT INTO THE REVERSE POSITION AND THE SERVICE ENGINE, TRACTION AND TRANSMISSION LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO WAS NOT ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 98,500.
THE IGNITION SWITCH,WHEN I TURN THE KEY TO THE ON POSITION IT SOMETIMES STICKS IN THIS POSITION AND STICKS IT DOES THIS EVERY OTHER TIME WHEN I TURN ON THE VEHICLE IT FEELS THE KEY IS GOING TO GET STUCK IN THE STARTING POSITION IT DON'T SPRING BACK THE WAY IT SHOULD. *TR
DOOR LATCHES CONTINUE TO HAVE PROBLEMS. WE HAVE HAD THEM REPAIRED BY DEALER TWICE NOW AND THE REAR DOOR LATCHES ARE BROKEN AGAIN NOW FOR THE THIRD TIME! THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN SINCE REAR PASSENGERS CANNOT QUICKLY OR SAFELY EXIT VEHICLE IN CASE OF EMERGENCY! *TR
PARKED THE CAR AT A LOCAL STORE, WENT BACK OUT AND THE PASSENGER DOOR WILL NOT UNLOCK OR OPEN, PASSENGER HAD TO CLIMB THROUGH DRIVERS SIDE TO ENTER AND EXIT. *TR
I PURCHASED MY CAR USED AND WAS VERY HAPPY WITH IT FOR THE FIRST 3 YEARS, BUT NOW I AM HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE IGNITION SWITCH. I HAVE HAD ONE PART REPLACED, BUT THEY ARE TELLING MY THAT IT IS JUST A TEMPORARY SOLUTION AS AFTER ONLY 2 WEEKS IT WOULD HAPPEN AGAIN. I WOULD DRIVE SOMEWHERE AND GO INTO A STORE, ONLY TO COME OUT AND CAN'T START MY CAR. SOME TIMES IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME OTHER DAYS JUST ONCE. THE MECHANIC SAID THAT I WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE ANOTHER PART THAT COULD COST OVER $800, WHEN THE FIRST TIME IT WAS OVER $250! THIS IS GETTING CRAZY AS I NOTICED THAT THERE ARE SEVERAL OTHER COMPLAINTS CONCERNING THIS SAME ISSUE WITH THE SAME YEAR AND MODEL. FORD NEEDS TO RECALL THESE AND FIX THEM!! *JS
I HAVE READ MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE 2008 FORD FOCUS AND MOST COMPARE TO MINE. THE SUSPENSION ON THESE VEHICLES ARE TERRIBLE. THE CAR WILL VIBRATE, RUMBLE AND RUIN TIRES. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE I PURCHASED THE CAR WITH ONLY 6,000 MILES ON IT. I HAVE DONE MULTIPLE ALIGNMENTS, ROTATIONS AND BALANCES TO TRY AND FIX THE PROBLEM WITH NO LUCK. I AM ON MY SECOND PAIR OF TIRES AND THEY ARE WEARING DOWN FAST. THERE IS ALSO A "CLUNKING" NOISE WHEN BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY THAT I ASSUME IS RELATED TO THIS PROBLEM. BECAUSE THERE ARE SO MANY OTHERS HAVING THE SAME TROUBLE AS ME, IT LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THAT THIS IS A DEFECT ON THE VEHICLE. IF I CONTINUE TO GET THE "RUN AROUND" FROM FORD MOTOR COMPANY I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER VEHICLE FROM THEM AGAIN. I AM VERY DISPLEASED WITH THE LACK OF UNDERSTANDING AND CARELESSNESS FORD SHARES FOR THEIR CUSTOMERS. FORD NEEDS TO OWN UP FOR THEIR FAILURE TO CREATE A RELIABLE VEHICLE LIKE THE 2008 FORD FOCUS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THERE WAS A SUDDEN LOSS ON ENGINE POWER WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURE WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 54,203 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 54,400.
I HAVE AN 08 FORD FOCUS S THAT HAS JUST UNDER 80,000 MILES AND THE CAR IS HORRENDOUS RECENTLY IT WON'T ACCELERATE IN LOW GEAR. YOU CAN PUT THE PEDAL DOWN BUT THE ENGINE RPMS GO UP BUT WON'T ACCELERATE UNTIL YOU SLIGHTLY LET THE PEDAL GO AND IT WILL JOLT FORWARD AND ENGAGE THE TRANSMISSION. THIS ISN'T THE FIRST CASE FROM WHAT IM HEARING AND WANTED TO FILE A COMPLAINT ON FORDS TRANSMISSIONS BEING FAULTY AND OR DEFECTIVE. *TR
TRAVELED 1152 MILES FROM NORTH CAROLINA TO WISCONSIN. CAR HAD PROBLEMS WHEN THE KEY WAS TURNED TO START THE ENGINE EACH TIME I WOULD STOP. WHEN I REACHED MY DESTINATION I WAS UNABLE TO RESTART THE ENGINE. I TURNED THE KEY AND COULD ROLL DOWN THE WINDOWS AND TURN ON THE RADIO, WITH THE KEY REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION SWITCH. *TR
I AM HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE IGNITION KEY NOT GOING IN THE IGNITION. THAT HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES. *JS
I WAS DRIVING NW ON SR626 ABOUT 45 MPH WHEN A WHITE CAR PULLED FROM STOP SIGN STRIKING MY CAR IN THE PASS SIDE, HITTING REAR TIRE AND BODY JUST IN FRONT OF TIRE AS I WAS SWERVING LEFT TO MISS CAR. AT IMPACT MY CAR SPUN 180 DEGREES SLIDING BACKWARDS INTO A DEEP DITCH, ON RIGHT SIDE OF ROAD, ROLLING ONTO DRIVERS SIDE THEN BACK ONTO ALL FOUR WHEELS. THE AIRBAGS NEVER DEPLOYED AS I WAS TOSSED AROUND INSIDE CAR HITTING MY HEAD, NECK AND LEFT SHOULDER AREA CAUSING INJURY. I DID HAVE MY LAP AND SHOULDER BELT ON AND IN THE CORRECT POSITION. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD E-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, A RATTLING NOISE EMITTED FROM THE UNDER CARRIAGE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHO FOUND THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WELDING HAD FAILED AND CAUSED THE PIPES TO FRACTURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 89,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 93,000.
BOUGHT THIS CAR 4 YEARS AGO WITH 18,000 MILES ON IT. I HAVE 41,000 MILES ON IT AND THE ABS HYDRAULIC PUMP IS LEAKING. COST TO REPAIR IS A THOUSAND. NOT A HAPPY CAMPER. *TR
I EXPERIENCE PREMATURE TIRE WEAR ON MY FOCUS. I HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE FOR SEVERAL YEARS. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO A FORD DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES TO GET IT FIXED BUT THEY TELL ME NOTHING IS WRONG. THE CAR ALSO HANDLES HORRIBLY IN WET OR WINTERY WEATHER REGARDLESS OF THE TYPE OR CONDITION OF THE TIRES. I FEEL UNSAFE DRIVING THIS CAR IN THESE CONDITIONS. I HAVE DONE RESEARCH ON THIS ISSUE AND HAVE FOUND THAT THIS IS AN ALARMINGLY COMMON COMPLAINT WITH FORD FOCUS OWNERS. BODY STYLE YEARS OF ROUGHLY 2007-2010. IT IS A DANGEROUS ISSUE AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED FOR ALL FORD FOCUS OWNERS WITH THE SAME ISSUES BEFORE SOMEONE GETS SERIOUSLY HURT OR DIES.(MYSELF INCLUDED.) *TT
THROTTLE STUCK IN THE CLOSED POSITION. THIS HAPPENED SEVERAL MORE TIMES OVER THE NEXT COUPLE YEARS. SOMETIMES AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND SOMETIMES AT SLOW SPEEDS. MOST OFTEN IN WARMER WEATHER. *TT

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE ATTEMPTED TO OPEN THE REAR DRIVERS SIDE DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE BUT THE DOOR WAS JAMMED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION BUT THEY COULD NOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE FAILURE RECURRED AND INCLUDED THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE DOOR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD ECONOLINE VAN E150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT TRIED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE CHECK ENGINE AND ELECTRONIC THROTTLE WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE RESTARTED BUT WHEN THE FAILURE WOULD RECUR WHEN THE ENGINE RPMS INCREASED OVER 2,000. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 66,325.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, A LOUD POPPING NOISE OCCURRED AS THE SUNROOF SUDDENLY DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE SUNROOF WAS CLOSED WHEN THE DEFECT OCCURRED. AFTER THE INCIDENT, THE CONTACT DISCOVERED RUSTING AND CORROSION LOCATED WHERE THE SUNROOF WAS POSITIONED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND NO SOLUTION WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
MY WIFE WAS CUT OFF ON THE HIGHWAY SHE GAVE GAS TO MOVE AND THE TRANSMISSION BAND BROKE ALMOST GOT HIT. THERE'S A HUGE PROBLEM WITH THE FOCUSES TRANSMISSIONS AND SHOULD DEMAND A RECALL. CAR ONLY HAS 77000 MILES TRANSMISSION SHOULD NOT BREAK WHEN GIVEN GAS. NEVER BUY A FORD AGAIN. *TR
I BOUGHT THIS CAR FOR MY DAUGHTER AT LOVING LINCOLN MERCURY IN LUFKIN TEXAS. WHILE TEST DRIVING THE CAR I NOTICED 1) THAT THE BRAKES WERE MAKING A LIGHT GRINDING NOISE WHILE COMING TO A STOP. 2) THE LOW TIRE PRESSURE INDICATOR LIGHT WAS ON. THE SALESMAN ASSURED ME THEY WOULD TAKE CARE OF THE PROBLEM BEFORE I BOUGHT IT. WHEN WE PICKED IT UP THEY SAID THEY LOOKED AT ALL THE BRAKES AND THEY WERE OK. ALSO, THE TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT WAS NO LONGER ON, SO I WENT AHEAD AND BOUGHT THE CAR. NOW, JUST A FEW DAYS AFTER TAKING POSSESSION OF THE CAR THE LOW TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT IS ON AGAIN. THE TIRES WERE MADE IN CHINA. THE BRAND NAME OF THE TIRES IS "GOODRIDE". I HAVE READ ONLINE THAT THE CHINESE VALVE STEMS WERE RECALLED DURING CERTAIN YEARS. I WILL HAVE THE DEALER ALERTED AND GET A TIRE STORE TO CHECK THE TIRES AND VALVE STEMS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE AT TRAVELING AT UNKNOWN SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN, AND CRASHED INTO A TREE. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED LACERATIONS TO THE FACE. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,000. UPDATED 02/11/14*LJ
THE BACK PASSENGER DOOR LATCH FAILED RESULTING IN THE DOOR NOT REMAINING CLOSED. THE DOOR HAD TO BE HELD SHUT WITH A BELT SO THAT IT COULD BE SAFELY DRIVEN. THANK GOD THAT NO ONE WAS IN THE BACK SEAT AS THEY MIGHT HAVE BEEN HURT IF THE DOOR FLEW OPEN WHILE DRIVING. THE AMATO FORD DEALER DID A DIAGNOSTIC TEST (FOR WHAT WE ARE NOT SURE AS IT IS A MANUAL DOOR NO ELECTRONIC LOCKS OR WINDOWS) THAT COST 113 DOLLARS AND THEN TOLD US IT WOULD COST 385 DOLLARS TO FIX. THIS IS CLEARLY A SAFETY ISSUE AND FORD SHOULD FIX THIS BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED. I HAVE BEEN A LOYAL FORD CUSTOMER BUT NEVER AGAIN WILL I PURCHASE A FORD VEHICLE IF THEY CARE THIS LITTLE FOR THEIR CUSTOMERS SAFETY. *TR
I HAVE A FORD FOCUS 2008 AND MILEAGE OF 41,000 I DROVE THE CAR TO WORK THE CAR ABRUPTLY STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. THE CAR IS BRAND NEW WHEN I PURCHASED AND NEVER USE MUCH. I WENT TO FORD SERVICE CENTER AND CHECK IT OUT AND SAID THERE IS A PROBLEM THAT NEEDS THROTTLE BODY AND RESET. WHY SERVICE AREA OF THIS FORD COMPANY CHARGING ME IN THE AMOUNT OF $730.00 DOLLARS. THIS CAR IS A RECALL AND VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE TO GOING TO WORK, PLEASE TAKE NOTE THAT WE ARE TALKING ABOUT SAFETY HERE. FORD COMPANY PAY ATTENTION MY ISSUES. AT LEAST TO FIX THE ISSUES THROTTLE BODY FOR FREE FOR ANY FORD COMPANY SERVICES. *TR
THIS DATE MARKS FIVE TIMES THAT DOOR LATCHES / LOCKS HAVE QUIT WORKING. CURRENTLY THE LOCKS WILL NOT WORK AND THE DRIVERS DOOR WILL NOT OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE. DEALER HAS REPAIRED THE PROBLEM FOUR TIMES UNDER WARRANTY. NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY I CONTACTED FORD MOTOR COMPANY FOR ASSISTANCE WITH THE RECURRING PROBLEM. THEIR REPRESENTATIVE STATED THIS WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM FROM RURAL ROAD DUST CAUSING LATCH / LOCK FAILURE, THAT MY CAR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THEY WILL NOT HELP COVER ANOTHER LATCH REPLACEMENT. *TR
I AM HAVING MAJOR ISSUES WITH STARTING MY VEHICLE. I WILL TURN THE KEY AND NOTHING HAPPENS. I HAVE TO FORCEFULLY TURN MY STEERING WHEEL BACK AND FORTH BEFORE MY VEHICLE WILL START. THIS IS HAPPENING WITH BOTH KEYS THAT I OWN. ALSO I'M ON MY THIRD SET OF TIRES AS THEY ARE WEARING ON THE INSIDE VERY QUICKLY. I'VE HAD ALIGNMENT AFTER ALIGNMENT DONE AND NOTHING IS FIXING THE ISSUE. THIS IS MY SECOND FOCUS AND THIS 2008 COMPARED TO MY 2000 IS A PIECE OF JUNK. I SHOULDN'T BE HAVING SO MANY ISSUES WITH THIS VEHICLE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD FOCUS EQUIPPED WITH A SET OF UNIROYAL TIGERPAW TIRES, SIZE 205/50/R16. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER TIRE BLEW WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH. THROTTLE CUT OUT SEVERAL TIMES WHILE ON THE FREEWAY AND THE CHECK ENGINE "WRENCH" WOULD LIGHT UP. ENGINE WOULD IDLE, BUT STEPPING ON THE GAS PEDAL WOULD DO NOTHING. TURNING THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON AGAIN WOULD TEMPORARILY FIX THE ISSUE. SEARCHING THE INTERNET SHOWS THIS TO BE A MASSIVE PROBLEM WITH ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODIES. CANNOT BELIEVE FORD HASN'T ISSUED A RECALL. DANGEROUS!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD SPORADICALLY FAIL TO START. THE CONTACT HAD TO CONTINUOUSLY JIGGLE THE IGNITION KEY FOR THE VEHICLE TO START. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED OR DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
FUEL GAUGE WAS SHOWING NEARLY EMPTY AND THE LOW FUEL LIGHT WAS ON. I PLACED 3.6 GALLONS OF FUEL INTO THE TANK, AND THE GAUGE SHOWED THAT THE FUEL LEVEL WAS A SLIGHT BIT UNDER 1/2 TANK. VEHICLE HAS A 12 GALLON GAS TANK; FUEL GAUGE WAS SHOWING AN INACCURATE LEVEL. *TR
VEHICLE BEGAN HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE KEY HAVING CONTACT WITH THE IGNITION. WHEN KEY IS TURNED, IT DOES NOTHING TO START THE ENGINE. KEY MUST BE PUSHED IN WHILE TURNING FOR IT TO START. PROBLEM KEPT GETTING WORSE UNTIL THE KEY WOULD NOT WORK AT ALL. REPLACED THE IGNITION SWITCH, THE CYLINDER AND THE TUMBLER AND THE ENTIRE SET OF KEYS. PROBLEM SOLVED FOR ONE YEAR, THEN BEGAN AGAIN. WORKING ON SECOND REPAIR IN ABOUT A YEAR- REPLACING IGNITION SWITCH AND THE CYLINDER. THE MECHANIC AND LOCKSMITH WHO ARE WORKING ON THIS REPAIR, SAY THEY FIX ABOUT 6-7 FORD FOCUS' PER MONTH WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
I HAD TO REPLACE ALL 5 TIRES WITHIN 2 YEARS OF MY VEHICLE PURCHASE. THE NEW TIRES ARE NOW JUST OVER 2 1/2 YEARS OLD. ONE BLEW OUT ON A RESIDENTIAL STREET WHILE GOING 35 MILES/HOUR. THE 2ND TIRE REPLACED WAS ALSO SEPARATING AND CAUSING THE VAN TO VIBRATE JUST AS THE FIRST ONE SO I TOOK IT IN 6 WEEKS AFTER THE FIRST BLOWOUT. LEAVING THE TIRE STORE MY VAN IS STILL VIBRATING AND NOW I NOTICE THE 3RD TIRE IS BUCKLING ON THE OUTSIDE WALL. THE 4TH TIRE DOES NOT APPEAR TO HAVE ANY MAJOR ISSUE YET. THE 5TH IS MY SPARE-NEVER USED. DISCOUNT SAID THEY WOULDN'T REPLACE THE 2 FRONT TIRES UNTIL THEY HAD THE SAME ISSUE AS THE REAR TIRES, WITHOUT COST TO ME. THESE TIRES ARE FROM THE SAME LOT #S. THEY SHOULD ALL BE REPLACED BEFORE ACCIDENTS, OR WORSE, OCCURS. ALL TIRES WERE MICHELIN LTX M/S LT225/75 R16. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DOORS FAILED TO OPEN FROM THE INSIDE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE DOOR LOCKS WERE FAULTY. I JUST HIT THE 100,000 MILE MARK ON MY 2008 FOCUS, I BOUGHT THE CAR NEW, AFTER A LITTLE OVER A YEAR AT 20,000 MILES I HAD TO REPLACE MY TIRES, MY CAR WAS SHAKING REALLY BAD AND MAKING ALOT OF ROAD NOISE. THEN AT 84,000 MILES I HAD TO PUT ON MY 4TH SET OF TIRES. MY MILES ARE ALL HIGHWAY MILES, I ROTATE EVERY 6000 MILES, THEY ALWAYS TELL ME THE ALIGNMENT IS WITHIN FACTORY SETTINGS. THEN AT 98000 MILES MY CAR STARTED DOING IT AGAIN, THEY SAID MY REAR TIRES ARE BAD, THEY BLAMED IT ON A BAD TRAILING ARM AND THEY HAD TO RESET MY CHANBER TOES IN THE REAR END, AGAIN, THEY SAID MY ALIGNMENT IS FINE. ALL OF THIS WAS DONE AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP THAT I ORIGINALLY PURCHASED THE CAR. SO NOW AT 100,000 MILES, I AM GETTING READY TO PUT ON MY 5TH SET OF TIRES. THIS IS INSANE. I'M AFRAID AT SOME POINT SOMEBODY IS GOING TO HAVE A TIRE BLOWOUT OR SOMETHING AND SOMEBODY IS GOING TO GET HURT. PLEASE HELP TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THE IGNITION AT TIMES WOULD NOT START THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT HAD TO CONTINUOUSLY JIGGLE THE IGNITION KEY FOR THE VEHICLE TO START. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE SECONDARY KEY FOR THE IGNITION HAD TO BE USED TO START THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,0000.
THE VEHICLE HAS HAD THE REAR WHEELS MISALIGNED SINCE NEW PURCHASE. DEALERSHIP HAS NEVER OMITTED THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE VEHICLE AND CONTINUES TO INSIST IT IS A TIRE ISSUE. THE MISALIGNED WHEEL CAUSES MULTIPLE FLAT SPOTTING AND EXCESSIVE WEAR ON TIRES, WHICH LEADS TO HEAVY VIBRATION AND NOISE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THERE IS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT IN CALIFORNIA RESULTING FROM THIS PROBLEM. *TR
2008 FORD FOCUS. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE SUDDEN ACCELERATION. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED HE WAS PULLING INTO HIS PARKING SPACE, WHEN SUDDENLY THE ENGINE SURGED AND THE VEHICLE SHOT FORWARD. HE IMMEDIATELY SLAMMED ON THE BRAKE, WHICH CAUSED THE OCCUPANTS IN THE VEHICLE TO BE THROWN FORWARD. THE CONSUMER STATED THAT WAS ONE OF THE FOUR TIMES, THE INCIDENT OCCURRED.
ON THIRD SET OF TIRES RATED FOR 75K TO 80K BECAUSE OF MANUFACTURE DEFECT. CAR IS IN SHOP HAVING ANOTHER FRONT & REAR WHEEL ALIGNMENT DONE AFTER PURCHASING NEW TIRES AGAIN. SHOP SAYS THEY RECOMMEND INSTALLING AFTER MARKET CAMBERS THAT WILL HOPEFULLY HELP THE DEFECT IN DESIGN AT A COST TO ME FOR $510.00. I'VE GONE ON-LINE AND THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND SAFETY ISSUE. THE TIRES WEAR OUT REGARDLESS OF THE LENGTH OF WARRANTY USUALLY WITHIN 6K TO 30K MILES. THE TIRES WEAR OUT ON THE INSIDE CAUSING CUPPING EVEN WITH REGULAR TIRE ROTATIONS EVERY 6K MILES. I SPOKE WITH FORD AND THEY REFUSE TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THEIR IS A PROBLEM. THE ON-LINE FORUMS REGARDING THIS ISSUE OTHER FORD OWNERS HAVE STATED THEY ALSO CONTACTED FORD AND WAS TOLD THE SAME THING. *TR
THE RIGHT REAR DOOR IS LOCKED SHUT AND CANNOT BE OPENED. THIS IS NOT THE RESULT OF ANY ACCIDENT OR OCCURANCE. THE DOOR CANNOT BE OPENED FROM THE INSIDE OR THE OUTSIDE OR WITH THE KEY OR REMOTE OPERATOR. IF ANYONE IS TRAPPED INSIDE THE VEHICLE OR IF INGRESS IS NEEDED IN AN EMERGENCY, THIS DOOR IS INOPERABLE. THERE IS A MECHANICAL OR ELECTRICAL FAILURE WHICH MAKES THE DOOR UNUSABLE. *TR
THIS IS AN ON GOING ISSUE WE HAVE HAD SINCE SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE. THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR LEAK DUE TO A FAULTY SPLASH GUARD. WE HAVE HAD IT SERVICED BY FORD SEVERAL TIMES; HOWEVER, THE ISSUE HAS COME BACK AGAIN, AND WE ARE NO LONGER IN WARRANTY. I HAVE 3 COMPLAINTS THAT COME WITH THIS ISSUE, 1 I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THE FLOOR UNDERNEATH RUSTING OUT, 2 EVEN WITH DEFROSTERS ON HIGH, IT BECOMES DIFFICULT TO SEE OUT OF THE WINDOWS BECAUSE OF THE MOISTURE IN THE CAR (EVEN AFTER DOING WHAT WE CAN TO SOAK UP THE MOISTURE) AND 3 I HAVE SOME CONCERNS THAT THE ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS WILL BECOME AN ISSUE IE. THE REAR WINDOW DEFOGGER IS ALMOST ALWAYS WET. AT THIS POINT WE ARE NOT DEALING WITH MOLD CONCERNS, BUT WE HAVE HAD TO HAVE MOLD CLEAN FROM THE INTERIOR OF THE CAR BEFORE. I AM WRITING YOU, BECAUSE THIS IS AN ISSUE FORD KNOWS ABOUT, AND IT SEEMS AS THOUGH IT IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL. I AM VERY CONCERNED THAT AT SOME POINT SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET HURT, AND I FEEL AS THOUGH FORD IS NO LONGER CONCERNING THEMSELVES WITH THIS ISSUE, AND ARE NOT CONCERNED WITH CORRECTING THEIR ISSUE. *TR
MANUAL DOOR LATCHES ON 4-DOOR, KEY ENTRY. USE OF KEY TO GAIN ENTRY ON BOTH FRONT DOORS BEGAN A GRADUAL FAILURE. HAD TO WORK THE KEY, APPLY PRESSURE TO THE DOORS, ETC, UNTIL BOTH LOCKS FAILED TO OPEN WITH KEY. TWICE HAD PUT CHILDREN IN THE CAR, ACCIDENTALLY LOCKED DOORS, THEN UNABLE TO OPEN DOORS WITH KEYS. FORD SAYS IT ISN'T COVERED BY WARRANTY, ALTHOUGHT THE PROBLEMS FIRST STARTED APPEARING WHEN THE CAR WAS ONLY 2 YEARS OLD. FOR THE PAST 2 YEARS, HAD TO LEAVE THE VEHICLE UNLOCKED. EVENTUALLY HAD AN AUTO BODY MAN DISASSMBLE THE DOORS, LUBE THE LATHES, AND THE WORK AGAIN, ALTHOUGHT THEY ARE STARTING TO WORK INTERMITTENTLY AGAIN. NEW LATCHES ARE $120 TO $160 EACH IF YOU CAN FIND THEM. *TR

FACTORY PIRELLI TIRES TREAD DEPTH AFTER ONLY 15191 MILES ON NEW 2008 FORD FOCUS SES---2 TIRES @ 2/32 AND 2 TIRES @ 3/32. DEALER AND PIRELLI WON'T ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY. (CAR DRIVEN IN LOCAL SMALL TOWN). NOT HAPPY! *TR
I OWN A 2008 FORD FOCUS. IN 2010 MY CAR WOULD JERK BADLY WHEN I WOULD PRESS ON THE BRAKES. I TOOK IT IN TO FORD AND THEY SAID THE PROBLEM WAS MY TRANSMISSION. LUCKILY I STILL HAD WARRANTY AND THEY GAVE ME A NEW ONE. WHEN I GOT MY CAR BACK FROM THE REPAIR SHOP I STILL NOTICED SOME JERKINESS TO IT AND TOLD THEM. I WAS TOLD TO KEEP DRIVING IT AND IT WOULD GO AWAY, IT NEVER DID. 6 MO.LATER I NOTICE THE CAR GETTING WORSE. THE GAS PEDAL IS HESITANT AND THE GEARS HESITATE TO SHIFT. ESPECIALLY WHEN I DRIVE UPHILL AND TURN A CORNER. IT ALSO TAKES A LONG TIME TO GO UP TO SPEED. I TOOK IT FOR SERVICE AGAIN AND THEY SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH IT. NOTE: THEY DID NOT TEST DRIVE MY CAR. HOW CAN A DOCTOR DIAGNOSE A PATIENT IF HE DOESN'T GIVE HIM A CHECK UP? I WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED AND THEY HAD THE NERVE TO CHARGE ME $200. IF I HAVE A NEW TRANSMISSION WHY IS THIS HAPPENING? I SERVICE MY CAR ON TIME AND HAVE IT WELL KEPT. IT'S NOW 2012 NO ONE CAN TELL ME WHAT'S WRONG WITH MY CAR. I'VE HAD SPARK PLUGS, FUEL FILTER, ENGINE OIL CHANGE, AIR FILTER CHANGED AND "NEW" TRANSMISSION AND THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED IN FORD. *TR
I BOUGHT MY CAR IN APRIL 2008 BY JUNE THE DOORS WERE HARD TO OPEN. AT THAT TIME I LUBRICATE THEM, THAT SEEM TO HELP FOR A SHORT TIME. THEN THE BACK DOORS WOULD NOT CLOSE OPENING AS I WAS DRIVING. MY CAR WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. I WENT TO MEREDITH FORD IN PLYMOUTH NH. I WAS TOLD IT WAS COSMETIC AND THEY DID'N WORK BECAUSE I LIVED ON A DIRT ROAD.WHICH I DID NOT. I TOLD THEM SOME ONE WAS GOING TO FALL OUT OF MY CAR I WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE MANAGER I BETTER HAVE GOOD INSURANCE. I STILL HAVE A ROPE HOLDING BY BACK DOORS CLOSED. AND I WAS NEVER TREATED SO BADLY BEFORE IN MY LIFE. *TR
AT 60,000 MILES THE CAR STARTED CHEWING UP TIRES AND STILL IS. THE FIRST SET IT DID THIS TO WERE WORN TO THE WIRE UNDER THE RUBBER BEFORE IT WAS NOTICED. IT HAS CHEWED UP TWO MORE SETS SINCE THEN ALL IN UNDER 10,000 MILES AND THE TIRES ARE RATED FOR APPROX. 50,000 MILES. *TR
MY CAR HAS HAD ISSUES WITH THE DOORS FOR QUITE AWHILE. ITS ALWAYS BEEN ANNOYING, BUT ITS NEVER REALLY SEEMED LIKE SUCH A BIG DEAL TO ME. TODAY, HOT SUMMER DAY, I WENT SHOPPING WITH MY BOYFRIEND, HE SAID I'M GOING TO GO GET YOUR CAR I WILL BE BACK, AS 30 MINUTES PASS HE IS FINALLY BACK TO TELL ME THAT MY DOOR WILL NOT UNLOCK. THE KEY WOULD NOT UNLUCK THE DOOR. I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE BACK DOORS JUST BEING STUCK ON LOCK FOR DAYS AT A TIME BUT IT ALWAYS EVENTUALLY FIXES ITSELF, WHICH IS WHY I HAVE NEVER REPORTED IT BEFORE. BUT TODAY I HAD TO PAY 30 DOLLARS FOR A LOCKSMITH TO COME OUT AND UNLOCK MY DOOR. I AM NOT VERY HAPPY BECAUSE I AM A POOR COLLEGE KID WHO COULD REALLY USE THAT MONEY ON SOMETHING ELSE. AS I RESEARCH THIS ONLINE I SEE MORE THAN ENOUGH COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE VERY SAME THING HAPPENING TO PEOPLE WITH THE SAME CAR THAT I HAVE. IT COULD HAVE BEEN VERY DANGEROUS IF FOR SOME REASON THERE WAS A KID IN THE CAR THAT WE COULD NOT GET OUT. IT INFURIATES ME THAT NO ONE WILL DO ANYTHING ABOUT THIS. I THINK IT IS ONLY FAIR THAT THIS PROBLEM BE INVESTIGATED AND IF NECESSARY THE CARS BE ON RECALL TO GET FIXED FOR FREE. THANK YOU. *TR
THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE AND REAR PASSENGER SIDE DOORS CANNOT BE OPENED FROM OUTSIDE THE CAR. THE REAR HANDLE SEEMS TO PULL NORMALLY BUT THE MECHANISM DOES NOT WORK. THE DOOR CAN BE OPENED FROM INSIDE THE CAR. THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE DOOR HANDLE PULLS OUT LOOSELY. WHEN I TRIED TO OPEN THE DOOR 3 DAYS AGO SOMETHING BROKE INSIDE THE DOOR. THE DOOR CAN BE OPENED FROM INSIDE THE CAR. THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW MECHANISM FAILED RIGHT AFTER I BOUGHT THE CAR. THE MOTOR WILL GO DOWN BUT THE WINDOW WILL NOT. I CAN PULL IT DOWN BY PUTTING ONE HAND ON EITHER SIDE OF THE GLASS (AFTER OPERATING THE BUTTON THAT WOULD NORMALLY OPEN THE WINDOW) THE WINDOW CAN BE CLOSED USING THE BUTTON. *TR
KEY LOCKS FOR FRONT DOORS AND DOOR LATCHES WON'T OPEN DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE. TOOK IT TO DEALERSHIP, OF COURSE IT ISN'T COVERED. IF YOU ACCIDENTALLY LOCK YOUR DOOR WITH YOUR CHILD IN IT ON A HOT DAY, YOU CAN'T GET THEM OUT IN TIME. SHOULDN'T THE LOCKS AND LATCHES WORK FOR AT LEAST 100K MILES? HAVE TO LEAVE THE CAR UNLOCKED ALL THE TIME. *TR

I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE 2 DOOR HANDLES DUE TO AN ISSUE WITH THEM BREAKING. I TALKED TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALER AND HE SAYS HE HAS REPLACED OVER 10 OTHER 2007/08/09 FOCUS EXTERIOR DOOR HANDLES. NONE HOWEVER WERE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND OF COURSE BOTH OF MY BROKE AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRED AND THE COST WAS 142.00/PER THIS IS A HUGE DESIGN FLAW AS WELL AS COSTLY. *TR
DRIVERS SIDE, PASSENGER DOOR CANNOT BE UNLOCK BY ANY MEANS. THIS WAS DISCOVERED WHILE A CHILD WAS IN A SAFETY CHILD-SEAT AND COULD NOT BE ACCESSED THROUGH THE DOOR. THE UNLOCK BUTTONS ON THE DRIVERS DOOR HAD NO EFFECT, THE UNLOCK BUTTONS ON THE KEY BOB HAD NO EFFECT AND THE MANUAL LOCK/ UNLOCK BUTTON CAN NOT BE MOVE FROM THE LOCK POSITION. THE DOOR REMAINS LOCKED UNTIL REPAIRS CAN BE MADE. A QUICK WEB SEARCH SHOWS THAT THEIR IS NO SHORTAGE OF FOCUS OWNERS HAVING EXPERIENCE THIS SAME SAFETY ISSUE. WHAT IF THE CAR HAD BEEN INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT AND THE CHILD HAD TO BE IMMEDIATELY REMOVED? I FEEL THAT EVEN ALLOWING VEHICLES TO BE MANUFACTURED THAT DOES NOT HAVE FOOL PROOF MANUAL LOCK RELEASES FOR EACH DOOR IS IRRESPONSIBLE AND A GROSSLY NEGLIGENT THREAT TO EVERYONE EACH TIME THEY ARE IN A VEHICLE. IS IT REALLY THAT MUCH OF A STRETCH TO IMAGINE A VEHICLE INVOLVE IN AN ACCIDENT AND LOSING ELECTRICAL POWER AND NONE OF THE DOORS COULD BE UNLOCKED? SO, MY COMPLAINT IS NOT THAT SOMETHING BROKE OR FAILED TO WORK, BUT THAT ITS FAILURE COULD UNNECESSARILY CAUSE SUCH AN EMINENT UNNECESSARY THREAT TO THE SAFETY OF VEHICLE OCCUPANTS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE DOOR HANDLES FRACTURED AND THE REAR DOORS COULD NOT BE OPENED FROM THE EXTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE. FORD DEALER HAD FIXED FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS UNDER WARRANTY, BUT WILL NOT FIX REAR WHEEL BEARINGS UNDER WARRANTY. CAR MAKES A ROARING NOISE WHILE DRIVING. I THINK THE REAR PARTS ON THE CAR HAVE BEEN RECALLED, BUT THE DEALER WANTS TO CHARGE ME $490 TO FIX. ALSO I PAID $25 FROM THE FORD DEALER FOR WIPERS THAT KEEP SCRAPING THE WINDSHIELD AND GIVE ME POOR VISIBILITY. *TT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY BEGAN TO DECELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS MANEUVERED TO THE SHOULDER AND STOPPED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE FUEL FILTER WAS REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THEY WERE ALSO UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD INTERMITTENTLY EXPERIENCE DIFFICULTY STARTING AND ALL OF THE LIGHTS WOULD ILLUMINATE ON AN INTERMITTENT BASIS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED AND THE FAILURES CONTINUED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 50,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

I WAS TRAVELING ON INDUSTRIAL BLVD WHEN AN ELDERLY COUPLE PULLED OUT IN FRONT OF ME. WITH NO TIME TO REACT I HIT THE FRONT END OF THEIR CAR WITH THE FRONT AND SIDE OF MY CAR ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. I WAS WEARING MY SEATBELT. AFTER MY HEAD HIT OFF THE WINDSHIELD MY AIRBAG DEPLOYED. I HAVE A SEVERE CONCUSSION AND SOME INJURY TO MY RIGHT LEG. THE MAIN POINT TO THIS ACCIDENT IS THAT I WAS WEARING A SEATBELT AND MY HEAD STILL STRUCK THE WINDSHIELD. AND ONCE AGAIN THE AIRBAG WAS DELAYED ON DEPLOYMENT. *TR
VEHICLE HAS BECOME DIFFICULT TO STEER. POWER STEERING PUMP IS LEAKING FLUID. *TR
BECAUSE "INCIDENT" DATE IS REQUIRED, I PUT TODAY'S DATE, BUT THIS COMPLAINT IS ABOUT A CONTINUOUS CONDITION. AS FAR AS I KNOW, THE PROBLEM HAS EXISTED SINCE THE CAR WAS NEW. THE PARKING BRAKE ALWAYS FREEZES (WILL NOT RELEASE) AT TEMPERATURES BELOW 20 DEGREES (SOMETIMES WARMER). USE OF THE PARKING BRAKE DURING WINTER MONTHS RESULTS IN DRIVING WITH BRAKE SET, WITH OBVIOUS DANGERS. NOT USING THE PARKING BRAKE DURING WINTER MONTHS SOMETIMES RESULTS IN VEHICLE LEFT IDLING WITH NO BRAKE SET (THERE ARE TIMES, IN ALASKA, WHEN IT IS NOT SAFE TO SHUT DOWN THE ENGINE, BECAUSE OF THE NEED TO MAINTAIN LIGHTING) WITH OBVIOUS DANGERS. I HAVE HAD THE CABLE REPLACED, TO NO EFFECT. I AM 62 YEARS OLD, AND WHILE I HAVE HEARD OF PARKING BRAKES FREEZING, THIS IS THE FIRST VEHICLE I HAVE EVER OWNED (OR DRIVEN, FOR THAT MATTER) THAT EVER ACTUALLY EXHIBITED THIS PROBLEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT BOTH FRONT DOORS COULD ONLY BE OPENED FROM THE INTERIOR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO HAVE THE FAILURE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 45 MPH WHEN THE FRONT PASSENGER AND DRIVER SEATS BEGAN TO VIBRATE ABNORMALLY. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHERE THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE VIBRATION WAS CAUSED BY SAGGING MOTOR MOUNTS. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS DESIGNED TO VIBRATE. THE CONTACT STATED THE PASSENGER COULD NOT SIT IN THE SEAT DUE TO THE VIBRATION. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,000.
HAVING PROBLEMS WITH TIRES CUPPING. HAD IT REALIGNED AROUND 20,000 MILES BECAUSE FORD ONLY COVERS WHEEL ALIGNMENT UP TO 12,000 MILES. I PURCHASED NEW TIRES AROUND 35,000 MILES, HAD IT REALIGNED AGAIN AROUND 36,000 MILES. I TOOK THE CAR IN TO COSTCO WHERE I BOUGHT THE NEW BRIDGESTONE TIRES FOR TIRE ROTATION AND THEY SAID THE TIRES WERE CUPPING !! SAME PROBLEM, ALIGNMENT DON'T HELP. AFTER RESEARCHING ON THE INTERNET, I SEE MANY PEOPLE HAVE THIS SAME PROBLEM WITH THE FORD FOCUS. *TR
THE IGNITION KEY IS BINDING IN IGNITION CYLINDER WHEN TURNING TO START POSITION ONLY. TWICE IT HAS NOT STARTED ON THE FIRST TRY. TWICE I HEARD A METAL SOUND WHEN STARTING. THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH FORD FOCUS 2008, AND HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION BY MY AUTO REPAIR SHOP. IT WAS SUGGESTED TO ME TO GO DIRECT TO A FORD DEALER SERVICE SHOP WHICH I DID. THE CAR WARRANTY EXPIRED 5/2011 SO I DON'T QUALIFY FOR FREE REPAIR ON THIS PROBLEM. AS FAR AS I CAN SEE IN RESEARCHING THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL ON IT. I THINK FORD SHOULD PAY. *KB
BOUGHT MY 2008 FORD FOCUS MARCH 14, 2009 WITH 15,000 MILES AS A FLEET RETURN. AT 36,000 MILES THE HANKOOK OPTIMO H725 ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT TIRES ARE WORN OUT AND NEED TO BE REPLACED. JUST AVERAGE DRIVING ON THE TIRES. THESE TIRES ARE SUPPOSED TO HAVE A 80,000 MILE TREAD LIFE GUARANTEE. HANKOOK'S WARRANTY DOES NOT APPLY TO ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT TIRES. TO SAY I AM DISAPPOINTED AND PERTURBED BY THE POOR PERFORMANCE OF THESE TIRES IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT. DIDN'T EVEN MAKE IT TO THE HALF WAY POINT OF THEIR TREAD LIFE. *KB
VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST POWER, ONLY CONTINUING TO RUN AT A ROUGH IDLE. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ALLOW ANY ACCELERATION. THE ONLY POSSIBLE RESPONSE WAS TO LIMP TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD. AFTER TURNING OFF THE IGNITION THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND RAN AS NORMAL FOR THE REST OF THE TRIP. FOUR DAYS LATER THE SAME THING OCCURRED. UPON TAKING THE VEHICLE TO THE FORD DEALER AND HAVING THEM TELL ME TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE UNTIL IT OCCURRED AGAIN AND THEN HAVE IT TOWED IN, I CONVINCED THEM TO LOOK FURTHER INTO IT. I WAS ABLE TO LOCATE SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ON LINE OF THE SAME TYPE. THE NECESSARY REPAIR WAS TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY. THE NEXT DAY THE DEALER CONTACTED ME AND SAID THE FORD HOTLINE STATED THEY HAD PREVIOUS COMPLAINTS AND ADVISED TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY. THIS WAS DONE AND THE VEHICLE HAS OPERATED CORRECTLY SINCE THE REPAIR. *TR

I PURCHASED A '08 FORD FOCUS- 4DR SDN SE IN MARCH '08 FROM MARK MARTIN FORD IN BATESVILLE, AR. JULY '08, DOORS LOCKED & WOULDN'T OPEN. SINCE THE ORIGINAL DELIVERY OF THE VEHICLE, IT'S BEEN RETURNED TO DEALERSHIP 14+ TIMES. MY TIRES WILL NOT LAST OVER 1000 TO 2000 MILES WITHOUT STARTING TO WHINE FROM CUFFING ON THE EDGES. FORD DID NOT PROVIDE ANY CHAMBER ADJUSTMENT IN FRONT OR BACK AND THE CAR WEARS OUT TIRES VERY QUICKLY. I HAVE A LITTLE OVER 61,000 MILES ON MY 2008 AND AM ON MY FIFTH SET OF TIRES. I HAVE ADDED REPLACEMENT ARMS TO THE REAR FOR CAMBER ADJUSTMENT AND CAMBER PLATES TO THE FRONT. DEALER AT FIRST TOLD ME TO ROTATE MY TIRES MORE OFTEN AND THEN ADMITTED THAT THE FOCUS MODEL HAS A PROBLEM WITH EATING TIRES. CONTACTED FORD TO NO AVAIL. *KB

LOCKS FREEZE UP. THIS IS A 2008 FORD FOCUS 4 DOOR. 6 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASED BRAND NEW THE BACK DOORS WOULD NOT OPEN FROM THE INSIDE OR OUTSIDE. REPAIRED AT DEALER. APPROXIMATELY 6 MONTHS LATER STARTED FREEZING UP AGAIN AND BEFORE I COULD GET IT IN TO GET REPAIRED THE FRONT DOORS DID THIS AS WELL. I HAD GOTTEN OUT OF THE VEHICLE AND LOCKED THE DOORS THEN NONE OF THE DOORS WOULD OPEN UP, HAD TO CLIMB THROUGH TRUNK. ALL FOUR DOORS REPAIRED. 6 MONTHS LATER DOORS LOCKED UP AGAIN. SOMETIMES THEY WOULD WORK AND SOMETIMES THEY WOULD NOT. EVENTUALLY THE BACK DOORS WOULD NOT OPEN AT ALL. THIS HAPPENED WHEN I HAD A CHILD IN AN INFANT SEAT IN THE BACK SEAT AND HAD TO ROLL DOWN THE WINDOWS TO GET CHILD OUT OF THE BACK SEAT. THIS WAS FIXED. THIS HAS HAPPENED ONE MORE TIME THREE OF THE DOORS. THEY WHERE REPAIRED AND AT THIS TIME I NOW HAVE A BACK DOOR THAT WILL NO LONGER OPEN. I HAVE VOICED MY CONCERNS TO FORD BUT ALL THEY DO IS CONSTANTLY REPAIR THE SAME WAY AND EVEN TRIED TO TELL ME THAT IT WAS DUE TO DUST BUILDING UP IN THE CAR DOORS, I HAVE LIVED IN THE COUNTRY AND HAD MULTIPLE VEHICLES AND HAVE NEVER HAD THIS HAPPEN BECAUSE OF DUST. ALSO I HAVE RESEARCHED ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY PERSON THIS IS HAPPENING TO WHICH LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THAT IT IS NOT JUST MY VEHICLE. THE DOORS FREEZE UP RANDOMLY WITH NO WARNING AND IF SOMEONE WHERE TO BE IN AN ACCIDENT AND NOT BE ABLE TO OPEN DOORS THIS COULD BE A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. I HAVE HAD TO CLIMB IN AND OUT OF WINDOWS TO GET IN AND OUT OF MY VEHICLE AND PUT CHILDREN IN THE CAR THROUGH WINDOW. *TR
COUNTING THIS SET OF TIRES THIS IS THIRD SET, ORIGINAL, SET BOUGHT FROM DEALERSHIP WERE I PURCHASED CAR AND THEN GOODYEAR TIRES. EACH SET LASTED AROUND 20,000 MILES. ALWAYS BACK PASSENGER SIDE WEARS COMPLETELY SLICK. THEY HAD TO REPLACE FRONT TIE ROD ON ONE SIDE AT AROUND 50,000 USING MY EXTENDED WARRANTY BECAUSE THEY WOULN'T LISTEN TO ME. THEY ALSO TOLD ME THERE WERE NO RECALLS. I HAD MINE ROTATED AND BALANCED ALSO WHEN I WAS SUPPOSE TO. I NOW HAVE 77,000 ORIGINAL MILES ON MY VEHICLE AND WARRANTY WILL SOON BE OUT. BOUGHT MY CAR NEW IN 2008. *TR

THE TIRES WERE REPLACED WITH KUMHO TIRES AND THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED WHO ADVISED THE CONTACT TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN FOR INSPECTION. THE MANUFACTURER OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE DOT NUMBER WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 28,000.
GOT STUCK IN THE SNOW AND ICE FEB.2011. LOW GEAR IS OUT ON MY TRANSMISSION AT 67,000 MILES ON MY 2008 FORD FOCUS. I THINK IT'S A COINCIDENCE THE TRANSMISSION HAS NEVER FELT LIKE IT SHIFTED RIGHT. I'VE BEEN A "MOTOR HEAD" FOREVER UNTIL THE COMPUTERIZED MOTORS CAME OUT, I KNOW MY CARS, MOTORS AND TRANIES, THIS IS NOT RIGHT AND I AM CALLING FORD TOMORROW, FEB. 14,2011, AND HAVE A DISCUSSION WITH THEM. I FEEL THEY NEED TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS ESPECIALLY SINCE I SEE OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD TRANY PROBLEMS ALSO. *TR
DOORS ON FORD FOCUS MALFUNCTION. ONLY DRIVER SIDE DOOR HAS KEY ENTRY BUT DOES NOT WORK WILL NOT OPEN DOOR. PASSENGER SIDE DOOR OPENS WITH REMOTE UNLOCK ENTRY BUT AT TIMES MALFUNCTIONS AND WON'T OPEN. DRIVER SIDE DOOR WILL NOT OPEN AT ALL ANYMORE. HAVE TO ENTER ON PASSENGER SIDE DOOR AND CRAWL OVER CONSOLE TO DRIVE VEHICLE. I BELIEVE IT'S THE FORD DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR THAT IS MALFUNCTIONED. *TR
POTENTIAL FOR ACCIDENT. MY 2008 FORD FOCUS STARTED HAVING POWER STEERING ISSUES AROUND 55000 MILES. IT WOULD BECOME INTERMITTENT IN POWER ASSIST TO THE POINT IT WOULD CAUSE THE STEERING TO FEEL IT WAS JUMPING FROM SIDE TO SIDE. TOOK INTO THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY STATED THAT TEFLON (USED TO HELP REDUCE FRICTION ON THE GEARS, ALONG WITH FLUID) FLAKES WERE IN THE SYSTEM AND AND THAT SOME PART OF THE GEAR SYSTEM WAS COMING APART INSIDE. GOING TO REPLACE THE RACK AND PINON SYSTEM AND ATTEMPT TO FLUSH OUT POWER STEERING PUMP, DUE TO THE WORM GEAR IN THE RACK AND PINON BEING CONTAMINATED. SERVICE ADVISOR ALSO STATED THAT IF CONTINUED TO DRIVE IN THIS STATE STEERING COULD POTENTIALLY LOCK UP RENDERING THE VEHICLE UNCONTROLLABLE.

I HAVE A 2008 FORD FOCUS SE/SES AND I HAVE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE REAR PASSENGER DOORS NOT UNLOCKING AND NOT OPENING FROM TIME TO TIME. THE ONLY WAY I AM ABLE TO OPEN THEM IS WITH A SET OF PLIERS. I HAVE GONE TO FORD WITH THIS ISSUE AND THEY CLAIM IT IS BECAUSE "I DRIVE ON A DIRT ROAD"; BUT I HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH ANY OTHER VEHICLE FROM DRIVING ON A DIRT ROAD. LUCKILY I HAVEN'T HAD ANY INSTANCES WHERE I NEED MY PASSENGERS TO BE OUT OF THE BACK SEAT IMMEDIATELY. I ALSO HAVE A CHILD THAT IS 3 AND I AM CONCERNED FOR HER SAFETY IF WE CANNOT GET THE BACKDOORS OPEN IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY. FORD WILL NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT AND TOLD ME THAT I SHOULD CLEAN OUT THE LOCKS OF THE DOORS. *TR
I HAVE A 2008 FORD FOCUS THAT THE WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED. THE ISSUE IS THE BACK PASSENGER DOOR WILL NOT OPEN FROM INSIDE OR OUT CAUSING A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. I CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY WANT TO CHARGE ME MONEY JUST TO LOOK AT IT.. I DON'T THINK A DOOR OPENING SHOULD BE VIEWED IN THIS WAY. THERE HAS BEEN NO ACCIDENT. IT JUST STOPPED OPENING. I LOVED MY FOCUS UNTIL THE INITIAL WARRANTY EXPIRED. PLEASE HELP ME. *TR
CAR DOOR LOCKS ON 2008 FORD FOCUS SE WILL NOT UNLOCK WITH ELECTRONIC POWER BUTTON, KEY FOB REMOTE, DOOR KEY, PULLING UP ON PLUNGER OR ATTEMPTING TO OPEN DOOR WITH HANDLE OR ANY COMBINATION OF THE ABOVE. DOORS LOCK AUTOMATICALLY AT 5 MPH SO IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO AVOID LOCKING AND THEN PASSENGERS MUST CRAWL OUT OF ANOTHER DOOR. SO FAR NO ONE HAS BEEN TRAPPED, BUT I HAVE HANDICAPPED FRIENDS AND A PREGNANT DAUGHTER, WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THEY CANNOT GET OUT. IT SEEMS TO BE TEMPERATURE RELATED AND MECHANICAL - THE FIRST TIME IT WAS FIXED UNDER WARRANTY, BUT NOW I AM HAVING TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS EVEN THOUGH RECURRING AND DEALER REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE ANY PROBLEM WITH THE LOCKS THAT INTERMITTENTLY LOCK AND THEN UNLOCK WHEN THE TEMPERATURE DROPS AT NIGHT - IT IS AS IF I NEED TO CAMP OUT AT THE DEALER UNTIL IT HAPPENS. *TR
THE DOOR LOCK, LOCKS AND YOU CANT OPEN THEM TO GET IN OR OUT OF THE CAR IF YOU WONT IN OR OUT YOU HAVE TO CRAWL THROUGH THE WINDOWS. THE FRONT END OF THE CAR WILL NOT STAY ALIGNED EATS UP TIRES. HEAD LIGHTS. WE HAVE HAD THIS CAR IN THE DEALERS MANY TIMES THEY TELL ME THAT ITS NORMAL. THIS CAR HAS BEEN A LEMON SINCE THE DAY I DROVE IT OFF THE LOT BUT THEY WOULD NEVER FIX THE PROBLEMS. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DOOR LATCHES WERE STICKING WHICH MADE UNABLE TO BE OPENED. THE CONTACT HAD CONTINUOUSLY TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THE LATCHES REPLACED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER REGARDING THE LATCHES AND THEY INFORMED THE CONTACT TO LUBRICATE THE LATCHES BUT THAT HAS NOT REMEDIED THE ISSUE. I BOUGHT A NEW 2008 FORD FOCUS. IT HAS 26000 MILES ON IT. I HAVE ROTATED THE TIRES TWO TIMES AND HAVE PUT ON MY THIRD SET OF TIRES IN THE 26000 MILES. I COMPLAINED TO THE DEALER AND THEY INSPECTED IT AND SAID THAT THE SUSPENSION AND ALIGNMENT IS COMPLETELY OUT AND ALSO OUT OF WARRANTY AND CAN'T BE ADJUSTED. I NEED TO PUT ON NEW TIRES EVERY 9000 MILES. THEY CAN REPAIR IT FOR ME AT $1200.00 AND A NEW SET OF TIRES FOR A GRAND TOTAL OF $1700.00 MY EXPENSE. THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS AND I FEEL IT IS A FACTORY DEFECT AND A SAFETY HAZARD. I DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS AUTO. THE INTERNET IS FULL OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE FORD FOCUS STEMMING BACK TO 2001. I'M A SENIOR CITIZEN, RETIRED AND ON A FIXED INCOME. THERE IS NO WAY THAT I CAN AFFORD TO HAVE IT REPAIRED AR EVEN TRADE IT OFF FOR THAT MATTER. IF I COULD TRADE IT OFF THEN SOME POOR SOUL LIKE MYSELF WOULD BE IN DANGER. THIS IS A ROAD HAZARD AND PEOPLE OWNING THIS PRODUCT SHOULD BE AWARE. HOPEFULLY, SOMETHING CAN BE DONE TO GET THESE RECALLED. UPDATED IVOQ 08/10/10 *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS (60-65 MPH), WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL SET, THE VEHICLE HAS TWICE LOST ALL ENGINE POWER, THOUGH IT REMAINED RUNNING AT IDLE SPEEDS. THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED, THE CAR SEEMED AS IF IT HAD TURNED OFF, THOUGH THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING AT IDLE SPEED. AFTER PULLING OVER, WITH THE CAR IN NEUTRAL, PUSHING ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL DID NOTHING...IT REMAINED AT IDLE SPEED. A DASH LIGHT CAME ON, INDICATING A THROTTLE SENSOR FAULT. AFTER TURNING OFF THE CAR AND RESTARTING, EVERYTHING SEEMED TO BE WORKING FINE. THE SECOND TIME THIS HAPPENED WAS ABOUT 2 WEEKS LATER UNDER SIMILAR CONDITIONS, THOUGH THIS TIME WAS IN HEAVIER TRAFFIC ON A MULTI-LANE HIGHWAY. IT WAS DIFFICULT, NOT TO MENTION DANGEROUS, TO CROSS TWO LANES OF TRAFFIC TO PULL OVER. *TR
AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. *TR
ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS, USUALLY AT SPEEDS AROUND 67 MPH, THE ENGINE LOOSES POWER AND GOES TO IDLE. IT WILL NOT ACCELERATE, BUT IDLES AT 1100 RPMS. THE FIX IT LIGHT TURNS ON. ONCE PULLED OVER, I TURN OFF THE ENGINE, THEN RESTART. IT RUNS ROUGHLY FOR A MOMENT THE APPEARS TO RUN NORMALLY AND THE FIX IT LIGHT GOES OUT. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER, BUT THEY WILL NOT DRIVE IT LONG ENOUGH TO DUPLICATE THE EVENT - USUALLY HAPPENS EVERY FEW HUNDRED MILES. THE MOST RECENT EVENT WAS MAY 30TH 2010 IN HEAVY TRAFFIC ON THE 405 FREEWAY, LOS ANGELES. *TR
I BEEN LOCKED IN MY CAR 2X. I HAVE A FORD FOCUS 2008. WHERE THE DOOR LATCHES DUST BUILDS UP TO WERE I CANT GET OUT. I WENT TO DEALERSHIP THEY NEVER SEEN THIS IN 18 YRS. I HAVE TO SPRAY COMPUTER CLEANER/BRAKE CLEANER WHICH I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO. *TR
I HAVE A 2008 FORD FOCUS, I HAVE REPLACE THE TIRES ON IT 3 TIMES ALREADY DUE TO WEAR THERE IS ONLY 37,000 MILES ON MY CAR. I HAVE BEEN GIVEN THE RUN AROUND FROM THE FORD DEALER THERE IS A SERIOUS ISSUE WITH THE SUSPENSION ON THESE CARS AND ITS GONING TO CAUSE SERIOUS ACCIDENT OR EVEN DEATH WHEN THESE CARS START TO FAIL EXPECIALLY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. I AM ON MY FOURTH SET OF TIRES AND THEY WILL SOON NEED TO BE REPLACED. I AM ALSO HEARING A SQUEAKING NOISE COMING FROM THE RIGHT REAR WHEEL WELL. I BELIEVE IT IS ALSO THE SUSPENSION. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD FOCUS. THE DRIVER STATED THAT HIS VEHICLE BEGAN TO MAKE EXCESSIVE NOISES IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE AT APPROXIMATELY 10,000 MILES. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE TIRES ON HIS VEHICLE WHERE DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DRIVER REPLACED THE TIRES WITH GOODYEAR TIRES AND AROUND 13,000 MILES THE VEHICLE STARTED TO HAVE THE IDENTICAL FAILURE. THE DRIVER TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER TOLD HIM THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON HIS VEHICLE AND THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO TO ASSIST HIM. THE DRIVER HAS NOW REPLACED THE TIRES THREE TIMES. THE NOISE OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING MORE THAN 60 MPH. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 24,100.

LTR TO THE POTUS RE A DEFECTIVE 2008 FORD FOCUS HE CO-SIGNED FOR HIS GRANDSON, CAR IS A LEMON AND WANTS FORD TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY/ACCOUNTABILITY FOR THEIR PRODUCT. *KB THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER 13 TIMES FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. DIFFERENT PARTS IN THE TRANSMISSION WERE CONSTANTLY BEING REPLACED. THE CONSUMER COMPLAINED OF SMELLING BURNT TRANSMISSION FLUID, THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT SHIFT, THE COOLER LINES AND CONTROL VALVE WERE REPLACED. EVENTUALLY, THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION WAS OVERHAULED. *JB
MY AGENCY OPERATES 7D VEHICLES THAT TRANSPORT YOUNG CHILDREN. THE SEATS IN WHICH WE MUST PLACE REAR-FACING INFANT CAR SEATS DO NOT ALLOW US TO PROPERLY SECURE THE CAR SEAT. THERE IS ONE TETHER INSTALLED ON THE BACK OF THE SEAT AND 2 INSTALLED WHERE THE CUSHIONS MEET. THE STRAP THAT IS SUPPOSED TO CLIP TO THE TETHER ON THE BACK OF THE SEAT IS TOO SHORT FOR REAR FACING CAR SEATS. THE CAR SEAT CAN BE SECURED USING THE SIDE TETHERS, BUT THE INABILITY TO SECURE TO THE REAR TETHER RESULTS IN THE CAR SEAT MOVING FORWARD & BACKWARD. IF THERE WERE A FRONT-ON COLLISION, THE INFANT'S HEAD WOULD THRUST FORWARD. I AM NOT SURE IF THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE DESIGN OR THE CAR SEAT. (RELATED VEHICLE INFORMATION: MODEL YEAR=2008, MAKE=FORD, MODEL=ECONOVAN E150). *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD FOCUS. WHEN DRIVING OVER ICE OR SNOW THE VEHICLE WILL BEGIN TO SHIMMY. THIS CONDITION REDUCES HIS ABILITY TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE. CONCERNING A '08 FOCUS, 4 DOOR SE. CAR IS APPROXIMATELY 18MONTHS OLD AND HAS COVERED 38,000 APPROX.. REAR PASSENGER DOOR FAILED TO OPEN. WHEN USING POWER LOCKS, THE DOOR BUTTON WOULD FAIL TO MOVE. ON A COUPLE OF OCCASIONS (LUCKY) THE DOOR COULD BE OPENED. THEN THE SAME HAPPENED TO THE OTHER REAR DOOR. SO NOW BOTH REAR DOORS WERE INOPERABLE. CAR WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL MONTANA FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE THE PROBLEM WAS EXPLAINED. CAR WAS KEPT IN SHOP FOR FOUR DAYS WHILST BITS WERE ORDERED, AND PROBLEM RECTIFIED. WAS CHARGED $100 AND TOLD THIS WASN'T COVERED BY THE WARRANTY (ALTHOUGH A RENTAL CAR WAS PROVIDED FOR THIS PERIOD). IN HINDSIGHT I SHOULD HAVE CHECKED BOTH DOORS, AS LATER I FOUND OUT THAT THE OTHER DOOR HADN'T BEEN FIXED. CAR NOW HAS TO GO INTO SHOP FOR FURTHER RECTIFICATION. I REALIZE THAT IN '05 FORD RECALLED APPROX 359,000 01-02 FOCUS FOR THIS PROBLEM, AND HAVE HAD TROUBLE WITH OTHER DOOR LATCHES ON VARIOUS VEHICLES. FOR THIS TO HAPPEN ON A 08 FOCUS, WHICH HAS BEEN DRIVEN CAREFULLY BY ONE OWNER, FAIL TO SEE HOW THE FORD DEALER CAN SAY IT'S NOT A MANUFACTURERS DEFECT? ARE THEY WORRIED THAT IT'LL COST MORE FOR A RECALL THAN ANY LAWSUITS? *TR
MY WIFE TOOK OUR 2008 FORD FOCUS IN FOR A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE AND TIRE ROTATION. THE DEALER STATED THEY COULD NOT ROTATE THE TIRES BECAUSE THE REAR TIRES WERE BAD. THE "CORDS" IN THE REAR TIRES HAD BROKEN INSIDE THE TIRE AND NOW THEY ARE OUT OF ROUND. THEY SAID THEY ARE NOT UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE THE DEALER DID NOT HAVE RECORD OF ROTATING THE WHEELS (BECAUSE I HAD DONE IT AT HOME FOR FREE). I HAVE BEEN ON MANY INTERNET TIRE WEB SITES AND THE PIRELLI TIRES ARE KNOWN FOR THIS HAPPENING ON SMALLER VEHICLES. *TR
ON 4/9/09 I WAS DRIVING TO WORK AND I NOTICED SLIGHT VIBRATION COMING FROM THE LEFT REAR PIRELLI P6 TIRE ON MY 2008 FORD FOCUS. I CHECKED THE TIRE AND DID NOT NOTICE ANY VISIBLE SIGN OF DAMAGE. ON THE WAY HOME THE VIBRATION GOT MORE SEVERE. ON ARRIVING HOME I CHECKED THE TIRE AND FOUND ONE SPOT THAT WAS COMPLETELY BALD. FROM WHEN I CHECKED THE TIRE AT WORK TO WHEN I ARRIVED AT HOME I HAD DRIVEN A TOTAL OF LESS THAN 90 MILES FOR THE TIRE TO GO COMPLETELY BALD IN THAT SPOT. BOTH PIRELLI AND 2 FORD DEALERS CLAIM THERE WERE NO PROBLEMS WITH THE TIRE, THAT THE DAMAGE WAS DUE TO A IMPROPER USE OF THE EMERGENCY BRAKE, IMPROPER ALIGNMENT OF THE REAR END OF THE VEHICLE, THE TIRE NOT BEING BALANCED OR FAILURE TO ROTATE THE TIRES. I HAD THE TIRES REPLACED BY A LOCAL MECHANIC. *TR
THERE IS A THROTTLE BODY ISSUE WITH 08 AND NEW FORD FOCUS. THE THROTTLE BODY DEFECT, LEANS THE FUEL MIXTURE CAUSING THE CAR TO LOOSE ALL POWER, BUT IDOLS KEEPING YOUR POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. YOU THEN HAVE TO PULL OVER, TURN THE CAR OFF AND RESTART CAR ONLY TO HAPPEN EVERY 50 MILES OR SO, DEPENDING ON A/C, SPEED, ROAD GRADES. FORD DEALER IN KINGMAN ADMITTED LOTS OF FOCUS HAVE BEEN COMING IN WITH SAME ISSUE. HOWEVER, DESPITE THE WRENCH LIGHTING COMING UP ON THE DASH THERE WAS NO CODES FOR THE DEALER TO FIX THE CAR. AFTER THE 7TH TIME OF THE POWER LOSS AND WRENCH, WE LEFT THE CAR RUNNING ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO TAKE VIDEO, AND A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FINALLY CAME ON. WHICH ALLOWED THE DEALER IN ALBUQUERQUE, NM TO IMMEDIATELY REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY. THIS ISSUE IS VERY DANGEROUS AS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS YOU LOOSE ALL OR 90 PERCENT POWER AND HAVE TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. BASED ON THE DEALERS COMMENTS IT APPEARS A RECALL SHOULD HAPPEN ON THE THROTTLE BODY ISSUE. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD GRINDING NOISE COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION WHILE TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS AND THEY STATED THAT THERE WAS A FAILURE WITHIN THE TRANSMISSION, BUT THEY COULD NOT IDENTIFY A SOLUTION. CURRENTLY, THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER DID NOT ASSIST. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 15,000.

THE EVENTS LEADING UP TO THE FAILURE: DAILY, HIGHWAY AND CITY DRIVING IN NORMAL TRAFFIC CONDITIONS. VEHICLE HAS APPROXIMATELY 19,000 MILES. THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AND REQUIRES A COMPLETE SWAP FOR A NEW TRANSMISSION. THE DEALERSHIP PERFORMING THE REPAIR COMMENTED THAT THE TRANSMISSION PAN SHOWS WEAR OF A TRANSMISSION WITH 90,000 TO 100,000 MILES INSTEAD OF 19,000 MILES. THE CORRECTION TO THE FAILURE IS A COMPLETE REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION OF A NEW TRANSMISSION BY FORD. *TR
WE ORDERED A NEW 2008 ECONOLINE E-350 XLT AND AFTER DRIVING WE DISCERNED THE STEERING WAS VERY LOOSE; IT HAD AN UNUSUAL AMOUNT OF "PLAY"; IT FLOATED AROUND THE ROAD. IT WAS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL ON THE HIGHWAYS ESPECIALLY AT HIGHER SPEEDS. WE BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND BOTH SERVICE MANAGER AND GENERAL MANAGER TOOK IT FOR A TEST DRIVE AND CONFIRMED THERE WAS A SERIOUS PROBLEM. VAN WAS BROUGHT IN FOR ANOTHER APPOINTMENT TO INVESTIGATE THE ISSUE. THEY "TIGHTENED" SOME PARTS (?) AND ASKED FOR ME TO DRIVE IT HOME AND REPORT BACK IF IT WERE ANY BETTER. CONTACTED THEM AGAIN AND INFORMED THEM THE PROBLEM REMAINED THE SAME. THEY SCHEDULED THE VAN AGAIN FOR ANOTHER APPOINTMENT/DIAGNOSIS AND THEY CONTACTED FORD TECH HOT LINE. FORD HOT LINE INFORMED THE SERVICE MANAGER THAT THERE HAVE BEEN OTHER COMPLAINTS AND THERE MUST BE A FAULTY ENGINEERING DESIGN IN THE STEERING SYSTEM. THE FORD DEALER INFORMED US THAT THE VAN REQUIRED YET ANOTHER APPOINTMENT AND THAT THE BRAND NEW VAN THAT WAS JUST BUILT REQUIRED A RE-ALIGNMENT AT A SPECIALTY ALIGNMENT FACILITY. THE VAN WAS BROUGHT IN AGAIN AND WAS "REALIGNED" OR MAJOR ADJUSTMENTS WERE MADE TO THE STEERING SYSTEM. UPON OUR TEST DRIVE AFTER THE LAST "REPAIR" WE DETERMINED IT WAS WORSE THAN BEFORE, THE VAN FLOATED ACROSS THE ROAD AND PULLED TO THE LEFT SIDE. WE INFORMED THE FORD DEALERSHIP THAT THE VAN REPAIR WAS NOT ACCEPTABLE, WE CONTACTED FORD CORP. HOT LINE AND INFORMED THEM WE WILL BEGIN LOOKING INTO THE STEPS TO TAKE REGARDING OUR STATE'S "LEMON LAWS." SIMULTANEOUSLY, AN ENGINEER FROM FORD MOTOR COMPANY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE EAST COAST IS SCHEDULED TO INSPECT AND DIAGNOSE THE VAN'S STEERING ISSUES IN JANUARY. THE DANGERS ARE NUMEROUS AND OBVIOUS. OUR POSITION IS IT IS A BRAND NEW VEHICLE THAT HAS AN ENGINEERING FAULTY DESIGN; IT WAS INCORRECTLY BUILT AND/OR DESIGNED AND WE ARE CONCERNED AS TO WHAT OTHER VEHICLE COMPONENTS HAVE BEEN AFFECTED BY THE FAULTY DESIGN. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT OPENED THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR, REACHED UNDER THE SEAT, AND CUT HIS HAND. HE WENT TO THE DOCTOR AND WAS INFORMED THAT HE HAD SEVERED A TENDON, WHICH CAUSED HIM TO RECEIVE INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL STITCHES. A FEW WEEKS LATER, HE SPOKE WITH THE DEALER AND WAS INFORMED NOT TO PLACE HIS HAND UNDERNEATH THE SEAT. THE CONTACT IS UNAWARE OF WHAT CUT HIS HAND AND THE MANUFACTURER HAS NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 5,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 300.
SINCE I PURCHASED MY 2008 FORD FOCUS SES ON APRIL 30 2008 I HAVE FELT THAT THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE ALIGNMENT OR STEERING. WHEN LETTING GO OF THE WHEEL IT ALMOST IMMEDIATELY WILL HEAD FOR THE DITCH. AT 300 MILES I REQUESTED A WARRANTY ALIGNMENT, DEALER SAID THEY WOULD NOT DO ONE UNTIL AT LEAST 500 OR 1,000 MILES. AT 1,200 MILES I REQUESTED THE SAME AND WAS TOLD THEY WOULDN'T DO ONE UNTIL AT LEAST 5,000 MILES, REASONING WAS THAT THE SUSPENSION NEEDED TO LOOSEN UP DUE TO BEING TIED DOWN IN SHIPPING. CALLED CUSTOMER CARE AND THEY INFORMED ME THERE WAS NO MILEAGE LIMIT. INFORMED DEALER AND THEY DID AN ALIGNMENT AND DID FIND IT WAS OFF. DROVE THE CAR AND STILL FEEL SOMETHING IS OFF. TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT IS THE WAY THE CAR IS, I TOLD THEM IF THAT IS THE WAY THE CAR IS IT IS THE WORSE CAR I'VE DRIVEN NEEDING TO ADJUST THE WHEEL CONSTANTLY TO DRIVE IN A STRAIGHT LINE IN 32 YEARS OF DRIVING. I DROVE ONE ON THE LOT THAT WAS NOT AS BAD AS MINE BUT STILL IT WOULD DRIFT ON A STRAIGHT ROAD AFTER LETTING GO OF THE WHEEL IN A VERY SHORT DISTANCE. TIRED OF FIGHTING WITH THE DEALER BUT STILL NOT LIKING THE WAY I HAVE TO CONSTANTLY ADJUST MY STEERING WHEEL TO DRIVE IN A STRAIGHT LINE. AT 7,800 MILES I HAD MY 7,500 MILE MAINTENANCE DONE. NOW THE CAR WILL DRIFT ALMOST IMMEDIATELY TO LEFT AND AT TIMES FEEL LIKE IT IS WOBBLING LEFT AND RIGHT. I HAVE MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH A DIFFERENT DEALER TO SEE IF THEY CAN FIND WHAT IS WRONG. IF NOT I WILL GET RID OF THE CAR BECAUSE I FEEL IT IS DANGEROUS AND WILL BE EVEN MORE SO WHEN THE SNOW STARTS TO FLY. *TR
I WAS MERGING INTO THE CENTER LANE WHEN A CAR FROM THE RIGHT SIDE WAS DRIVING IN MY LINE. I MOVE BACK IN MY LANE AND THE CAR STARTED FISH TALING AND WENT OUT OF CONTROL. THE TRANSMISSIONS SHIFT POINTS ARE NOT CALIBRATED CORRECTLY. THE SHIFT POINTS ARE OFF. STARTING FROM A STOP THE VEHICLES FIRST SHIFT IS 3000RPM. WHILE UNDER NORMAL ACCELERATION FROM THAT POINT THE RPM'S CAN GO AS HIGH AS 3500 BEFORE THE SECOND SHIFT. ONCE IN SECOND GEAR, DEPENDING ON THE ENGINE LOAD THE RPM'S CAN GO AS HIGH AS 4000. AS I MENTIONED,ENGINE LOAD. ON A SLIGHT DOWNGRADE THE TRANS SHIFTS NORMAL WITH LOWER RPM AT ALL SHIFT POINTS. ON A SLIGHT UPGRADE SHIFT POINTS ARE HIGHER. DRIVE DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT A STEADY SPEED. THE FIRST SHIFT SEEMS OK. IN SECOND GEAR THE RPM'S WILL STAY AT 2500 TO 3000. THE TRANSMISSION DOES NO SHIFT UNTIL YOU LET OF THE GAS PEDAL A LITTLE. ONCE IN THIRD GEAR THE OD DOES NOT KICK IN UNTIL SPEEDS ABOVE 60MPH. I HAD THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. THEY CHECKED FOR CODES AND THERE WERE NONE. THE SHOP FOREMAN DROVE THE VEHICLE THEN REQUESTED WE DRIVE ANOTHER TO SEE IF THE PROBLEM WAS PRESENT. WE DROVE ANOTHER VEHICLE THAT SEEMED TO PERFORM THE SAME. I MENTIONED TO HIM, IF THIS IS A NORMAL OPERATION MAYBE THE COMPUTERS PROGRAM IS WRONG. MAYBE THE TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REFLASHED. HE CLAIMED FORD WOULD NOT PUT OUT A PRODUCT LIKE THAT. EXAMPLE: WE HAD SNOW A COUPLE OF DAY AGO AND YOU NATURALLY HAD TO WATCH YOUR SPEED. I DROVE AROUND AT 30MPH WITH THE RPM'S AT 3,000. *TR
