Power steering pump replaced with new unit. Major steering issues. Will not turn at some points. Almost caused 3 accidents on 10/22/2021. Have had front end and power steering pump replaced.
Death wobble and learned about class action after I had front end repaired with complete overhaul ball joints etc in January 2018 ($2100 plus dollars) by my mechanic. May 16, 2021 experienced 3 incidents of death wobble in Oklahoma City enroute toTulsa, Oklahoma. See my mechanic on June 1, 2021.

WE WERE HAULING A LOAD OF LOGS ABOUT AN HOUR AWAY EVERYTHING WAS FINE WHEN ALL OF THE SUDDEN THE TRUCK DOWN SHIFTED AND WHITE SMOKE STARTED POURING OUT FROM UNDER THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE HOOD FOLLOWED BY FLAMES. WE HAD TO TRY TO GET OFF THE ROAD WHERE WE WERE THERE WAS NO WHERE TO PULL OFF AND FINALLY COULD SWING INTO A STATE GAMESLAND AND SOMEONE CALLED THE FIRE DEPT. I AM NOW OUT OF A TRUCK I JUST PURCHASED 2 MONTHS AGO AND MY VIN NUMBER ISN'T EVEN SHOWING UP

DEATH WOBBLE OCCURS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS IF BUMPS OCCUR CONSECUTIVELY CLOSE TOGETHER,THE ONLY WAY TO STOP WOBBLE IF YOU ABRUPTLY STOP,IT'S WORSE IF YOUR ON A TRANSITION RAMP TO ON COMING TRAFFIC.
I HAVE A 2008 FORD F-350 THAT I EXPERIENCED A VIOLENT, SHUDDERING, VIBRATION AT APPROXIMATELY 75 M.P.H. ON INTERSTATE-75 YESTERDAY, 09/19/2020, THAT ALMOST CAUSED ME TO CRASH. I LOOKED ONLINE AND THERE ARE MANY, MANY PEOPLE WHO HAVE AND ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME, DANGEROUS PROBLEM. I FIRMLY BELIEVE THAT THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL OF THE AFFECTED F-250 AND F-350 VEHICLES AND FORD SHOULD REPAIRS THESE VEHICLES BEFORE ANYONE IS INJURED OR KILLED, IF THERE HASN'T BEEN SUCH A TRAJEDY OR TRAGEDIES ALREADY.

CRUSE CONTROL SWITCH ON THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER DISINTEGRATED, CAUSING IMMEDIATE LOSS OF BRAKE FLUID AND BRAKING. SWITCH BODY APPEARED RUSTY, WHILE THE SWITCH NEXT TO IT ON THE MASTER CYLINDER DID NOT. VEHICLE IN MOTION, DESCENDING DRIVEWAY WHEN BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND ALL BRAKING ACTION WAS LOST. VEHICLE STOPPED VIA EMERGENCY BRAKE.
HAD THE TRUCK OVER HEAT MULTIPLE TIMES. HAD TO CHANGE THE COOLANT AND ALSO THE RADIATOR ON LONG WITH THE OIL COOLANT CONTAINER. HAS A TICKING SOUND AND HAS NOT YET GONE AWAY. HAVE TAKEN IT TO FORD DEALER AND THEY CAN'T FIGURE IT OUT. WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT TO DO SINCE I HAVE SPENT A LOT OF MONEY AND THE PROBLEM HASN'T BEEN FIXED AND THE ONLY THING THE FORD DEALER TELLS ME IS TO TRADE IT IN FOR A NEW ONE. HELP1
DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT 65 MPH, ON OPEN HIGHWAY GOING STRAIGHT, AND ON CRUISE CONTROL, MY SUN ROOF EXPLODED. IF I HAD NOT HAD THE SUN SHADE PULLED CLOSED, WE WOULD HAVE BEEN SHOWERED IN GLASS! I HAD A TRUCK CAMPER ON THE TRUCK AT THE TIME, HOWEVER, I'VE DRIVEN TENS OF THOUSANDS OF MILES WITH THIS CAMPER, SO IT SHOULDN'T BE THAT - AND THE GLASS OUGHT TO BE STRONG ENOUGH FOR THIS USAGE ANYWAY. THIS SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED, AND THE TYPE OF GLASS THAT IS USED SHOULD NOT ALLOW GLASS TO SHATTER INTO FLYING PIECES LIKE THAT! THIS IS COSTING ME A BUNDLE OF MONEY TO REPAIR, BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY, HAD THE SUN SHADE NOT BEEN CLOSED, I COULD HAVE HAD AN ACCIDENT WITH 6+ TONS OF TRUCK AND CAMPER.
I WAS IN MY DRIVEWAY AND STEPPED ON THE BRAKE PEDAL TO PUT THE TRUCK IN REVERSE AND I HEARD A LOUD 'POP' WHICH FELT LIKE THE BRAKE PEDAL BROKE AND THEN IT SANK TO THE FLOOR, I POPPED THE HOOD AND SAW BRAKE FLUID DRIPPING FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER. THIS PART---"SWITCH ASSY - FORD PART-SW6349 (9F924)" HAD BLOWN OUT THE PLASTIC CONNECTOR WHILE THE METAL CASING WAS STILL ATTACHED TO THE BOTTOM OF THE MASTER CYLINDER. THIS WILL LEAVE YOU WITH NO BRAKES. IF IT HAPPENED ON THE ROAD IN TRAFFIC IT COULD BE DEADLY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD F-350. WHILE DRIVING OVER A BUMP IN THE ROAD, THE VEHICLE SHOOK, BOUNCED, AND MADE A SQUEAKING NOISE. IN ADDITION, WHEN THE CONTACT CHECK UNDER THE VEHICLE, HE NOTICED THAT THE RUBBER BUSHING DISINTEGRATED FROM THE CAB AND CHASSIS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER AND WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THERE WERE NO RECALLS ASSOCIATED WITH THE VIN. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD F-350 SD. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 12 MPH, THE STEERING FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DETACHED FROM THE STEERING BOX. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING BOX NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. BOB BELL FORD WAS CONTACTED BY PHONE AT 410-766-3600 (LOCATED AT 7125 RITCHIE HWY, GLEN BURNIE, MD 21061). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 125,000.
FORD SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THE 6.4 DIESEL AS MUCH AS THESE TRUCKS COST HARD WORKING AMERICANS, PAY CLOSE TO 30 THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR A PICKUP TRUCK THEN HAVE TO PAY ANOTHER 15 THOUSAND TO FIX THE MOTOR DUE TO IT NOT BEING BUILT CORRECTLY, JUNK RODS, HEAD BOLTS, HEADS, TURBOS, OIL LEVEL BEING RAISED BY 2 TO 3 GALLONS PER OIL CHANGE, DUE TO FUEL BEING PUMPED BACK INTO THE ENGINE, CAUSING SEVERE INTERNAL ENGINE PROBLEMS, IT'S NOT IF IT WILL BLOW BUT WHEN IT WILL, AS PER FORD MASTER MECHANIC. THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION, TO KNOW AT ANY GIVING MINUTE WHILE DRIVING YOU'RE MOTOR COULD BLOW CAUSING LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE.
JUST GOT ON THE ON RAMP TO GET ON THE FREEWAY WHEN LOST TOTAL CONTROL OF THE TRUCKS POWERSTEERING. I WAS GOING MAYBE 35-45MPH BUT HAD TO SLOW DOWN. TOOK TO THE FORD DEALER THE REPLACED THE GEARBOX WITH A REMANUFACTURED GEARBOX AND DID THE SAME THING ON MY SECOND TRIP. NOT SURE WHAT TO DO AS THIS IS A BIG SAFETY CONCERN
THE STEERING IS HARD TO TURN I HAVE TO WRESTLE WITH IT VERY OFTEN..
THE 2008, AS WELL AS OTHER YEARS OF THE FORD F-350 ARE KNOWN TO HAVE A PROBLEM WITH A FRONT-END SHIMMY OR "DEATH WOBBLE". I HAVE HAD SEVERAL THOUSAND DOLLARS OF WORK DONE TO MY F-350 IN ORDER TO RESOLVE THE DEATH WOBBLE PROBLEM. THE REPAIRS WORK FOR A TIME AND THEN, WITHOUT WARNING, THE DEATH WOBBLE RETURNS. THE FACT THAT THIS CAN OCCUR WITHOUT WARNING, AT HIGH SPEEDS, BY DRIVING OVER A VERY SMALL BUMP IN THE ROAD, MAKES THIS AN EXTRAORDINARILY DANGEROUS PROBLEM. I DON'T THINK I CAN ADEQUATELY DESCRIBE THE EXTREME NATURE OF THE DEATH WOBBLE. THE FRONT-END OF THE TRUCK IS BOUNCING LEFT AND RIGHT, THE ENTIRE VEHICLE IS TWISTING AND ROLLING, THE STEERING WHEEL IS BARELY CONTROLLABLE, ANYTHING LOOSE IN THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT GOES FLYING AND KEEPING THE VEHICLE IN ITS LANE IS NOT ALWAYS POSSIBLE. REDUCING SPEED AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE IS THE ONLY RECOURSE AND THIS POSES A DANGER PARTICULARLY WHEN ON A HEAVILY TRAFFICKED HIGHWAY. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN KNOWN ABOUT FOR A LONG TIME AND FORD WILL NOT TAKE ANY RESPONSIBILITY. EVEN AFTER SPENDING THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS ON COMPLETE FRONT-END REBUILDS, AND IMPECCABLE MAINTENANCE, THE PROBLEM WILL SUDDENLY REOCCUR. THE DESIGN OF THIS FRONT-END IS FAULTY AND VEHICLE OWNERS SHOULD NOT CONTINUE TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COSTS OF MAINTAINING THIS FAULTY DESIGN AND BEING EXPOSED TO GREAT RISK.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD F-350. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH AND ATTEMPTED TO EXIT THE HIGHWAY, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, BUT THE BRAKES FAILED TO ENGAGE. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CALLED FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER, BUT THERE WAS NO RESPONSE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 104,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2008 FORD F-350. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE STEERING ABILITY FAILED ON THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND CRASHED INTO THE WALL OF A BRIDGE. THE CRASH OCCURRED ON JANUARY 11, 2018. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT WAS INJURED AND REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THERE WERE NO WARNINGS INDICATORS ILLUMINATED BEFORE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED AN UNKNOWN RECALL NOTICE FROM FORD MOTOR COMPANY A WEEK AFTER THE CRASH. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 125,000.
WHILE DRIVING OVER 40 MPH IF A BUMP OR POTHOLE IS HIT THE TRUCK BOUNCES OR SHAKES VIOLENTLY AT THE FRONT. THE TRUCK HAD PREVIOUSLY DONE IT ONE OTHER TIME. THIS TIME THE TRUCK WAS TRAVEING ABOUT 55 MPH ON A 2 LANE HIGHWAY WHEN I HIT A DIP IN THE ROAD AND THE TRUCK STARTED VIOLENTLY BOUNCING AND WENT ACROSS THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. LUCKILY NO OTHER CAR WAS COMING BUT DAMAGE WAS DONE TO THE FRONT OF THE TRUCK WHEN IT WENT TO THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE ROADWAY. I HAVE SINCE PARKED THE VEHICLE UNTIL IT CAN BE FOUND WHAT CAUSED THE PROBLEM. I WILL HAVE TO CONTACT THE INSURANCE CO ABOUT THE FRONT END REPAIR BUT NOT UNTIL IT IS SAFE TO DRIVE.
THE TRUCK SHAKES A LOT WHEN GOING OVER BUMPS ON THE ROAD , AROUND 60 MPH .
AFTER HITTING A BUMP IN THE ROAD, THE TRUCK WILL SHAKE VIOLENTLY AND ATTEMPT TO GET OUT OF CONTROL. THE ONLY WAY TO CORRECT THIS IS BRING THE VEHICLE SPEED DOWN TO UNDER 20 MPH. THIS PROBLEM BEGAN OCCURRING SPORADICALLY ABOUT ONE YEAR AGO AND HAS GOTTEN CONSISTENTLY WORSE. IT IS SO SEVER THAT I HAVE DECIDED TO PARK THE VEHICLE OUT OF A CONCERN FOR SAFETY. I HAD THE VEHICLE INSPECTED AT THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP APPROXIMATELY 3-4 MONTHS AGO AND THEY SAID EVERYTHING WAS FINE. TODAY, I RECEIVED IN THE MAIL A NOTICE MARKED "SPECIAL FIELD ACTION 09L02" THAT SAYS THE PROBLEM IS DUE TO TIRE INFLATION. I HAVE THE PROPER SIZE TIRES AND I KEEP THEM PROPERLY INFLATED. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS, I HAVE NOTICED THAT THIS PROBLEM DATES BACK TO 2005 AND FORD HAS SENT THIS SAME NOTICE OUT MANY TIMES. IT IS NOT A TIRE PROBLEM. I BELIEVE IT IS A KNOWN SUSPENSION PROBLEM AND IT IS DANGEROUS. THIS NEEDS TO BE A MANDATORY RECALL AND IT NEEDS TO BE PAID FOR BY FORD. I CALLED THEIR SERVICE LINE TODAY AND WAS TOLD MY VEHICLE WASN'T PART OF ANY NOTICE OR RECALL. THE PAPER I GOT TODAY SAYS "THIS NOTICE APPLIES TO YOUR VEHICLE" AND GOES ON TO GIVE MY VIN #. IT IS A BIG PROBLEM AND NOW IT HAS A BIG COVER-UP TO GO WITH IT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD F-350 SD. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD AN ABNORMAL NOISE FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE WENT INTO LIMP MODE. A LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO CALL NHTSA. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 212,425. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE POWER STEERING PUMP STARTED MAKING A NOISE. THE RESERVOIR WAS EMPTY. I FILLED IT UP ABOUT 100 MILES LATER. STEERING WHEEL STARTED HAVING A LOT OF PLAY IN IT BEFORE TURNING THE WHEELS. ON THE WAY TO THE DEALER TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT, LOST ALL POWER STEERING. I HAD TO CALL A ROLLBACK TO CARRY IT TO DEALER. THIS IS A 2008 F350 WITH APPROXIMATELY 38,000 MILES ON IT. DEALER INFORMED ME IT WILL COST ME $1500 TO REPLACE THE GEAR BOX PLUS $75 TOWING. I FEEL LIKE THIS IS A FACTORY DEFECT AND FORD MOTOR CO. SHOULD PAY FOR ALL REPAIRS. I NEED ADVICE AND HELP TO RESOLVE THIS COMPLAINT.

STEERING GEARBOX FAILED. STEERING FELT VERY LOOSE, PULLED INTO PARKING LOT. STEERING WOULD TURN RIGHT BUT WOULD NOT TURN TO THE LEFT.COULD HEAR A CRUNCHING OR POPPING NOISE WHEN ATTEMPTING TOP TURN LEFT. HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO LOCAL REPAIR SHOP THAT FOUND THE STEERING GEARBOX FAILED INTERNALLY.
UPON RETURNING FROM A SHORT DRIVE I NOTICED OIL ON THE GROUND...HAD TRUCK TOWED TO LOCAL FORD DEALER ...WHEN INSPECTED I WAS INFORMED THE SELF CLEANING EXHAUST SYSTEM CAUSED THE RINGS TO WEAR PREMATURELY AND BUILD PRESSURE IN THE CRANKCASE CAUSING OIL TO SPEW OUT ANY OPENING IE THE DIPSTICK TUBE. A DIESEL ENGINE SHOULD HAVE BEEN EXPECTED TO LAST 2-3 TIMES THE 165,000 MILES ON THE TRUCK.
NITTO DURA GRAPPLER 245/75R/17 FRONT LEFT TIRE BLEW CAUSING VEHICLE TO CRASH INTO GUARD RAILING ON INTERSTATE. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVING ON I-75 SB NEAR MM 181 APPROXIMATELY 72 MPH. I WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE RECALL. ON MARCH 6,2015 I HAD ANOTHER TIRE BLOW AND I FILED A NITTO CLAIM NUMBER 804190 (THROUGH THE TIRE DEALERSHIP). I RECEIVED FROM NITTO THE SAME TIRE IN EXCHANGE. EVEN THOUGHT THIS TYPE OF TIRE WAS RECALLED ON SAFERCAR.GOV ON NOVEMBER 4, 2015. WHY WAS IT REPLACED BY NITTO WITH ANOTHER DEFECTIVE TIRE??? NOW MY VEHICLE IS TOTALED!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD F-350 SD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A RANDOM DEATH WOBBLE ASSOCIATED WITH THE STEERING AND SUSPENSION. A DEALER PERFORMED EXTENSIVE REPAIRS, BUT THE CONDITION CONTINUED. THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER FAILED TO PROVIDE A REMEDY. THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO BE SAFELY DRIVEN DUE TO A STRONG VIBRATION FROM THE STEERING, WHICH ALSO CAUSED THE SUSPENSION TO BE UNSTABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AT THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
EXCESSIVE WHITE SMOKE OUT OF EXHAUST, ESPECIALLY WITH ACCELERATION. SMOKE HAS A FOUL ODOR ALSO. CAN HEAR A KNOCKING SOUND IN ENGINE ON DECELERATION (SIMILAR TO BAD WHEEL BEARING HUMS), ONLY DOES IT IF TURBO IS OVER 150-200 PSI, BUT WILL DO IT EVERY SINGLE TIME. 'DRIVE TO CLEAN EXHAUST' DISPLAYED ON DASH. COMPLETED RECOMMENDED DRIVE CYCLE (OVER 30MPH FOR AT LEAST 20 MINUTES, I DROVE FOR 45 MINS) AND MESSAGE STILL APPEARS. "WRENCH" SYMBOL DISPLAYED ON DASH. PER OWNER'S GUIDE THE RTT DISPLAYS WHEN ENGINE HAS DEFAULTED TO "LIMP-HOME" OPERATION OR WHEN TRANSMISSION PROBLEM HAS BEEN DETECTED.. THE LIGHT COMES ON EVERY TIME VEHICLE IS DRIVING NOW, AND STAYS ON ENTIRE TIME.

I NOTICED A PLUM OF WHITE SMOKE OUT THE TAIL PIPE. THAT INDICATED STEAM, WATER IN THE SYSTEM TO ME. ALL THE GAUGES WERE NORMAL AND I STOPPED THE VEHICLE AND CHECKED THE FLUID LEVELS. NO OBVIOUS PROBLEM. I CALLED MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY COULD NOT GET IT IN FOR 36 HOURS. I DROVE IT .4 MILES HOME AND PARKED IT. AT THE APPOINTED TIME I DROVE TO NORTH COUNTRY FORD. IT TOOK THEM ANOTHER DAY TO FIND THE DIESEL MECHANIC WHO COULD WORK ON THE VEHICLE. 24 HOURS LATER I AM TOLD THE ENGINE IS BLOWN; FLUID GOT INTO THE MANIFOLD AND WAS SUCKED INTO THE # 3 CYLINDER. DEPENDING ON THE AMOUNT OF PARTS THAT COULD BE SALVAGED THE COST OF REPLACEMENT COULD EXCEED $ 12,000. THIS VEHICLE HAS 95,000 MILES ON IT. IT HAS HAD TOW OTHER INCIDENTS WITH THE ENGINE AND DRIVE TRAIN: IN DECEMBER OF LAST YEAR, IN PREPARATION FOR A TRIP TO ARIZONA I HAD THE TRANSMISSION SERVICED. ABOUT 1400 MILES LATER THE TRANSMISSION BEGAN TO SLIP WHEN WE ENCOUNTERED ANY HILLS OR MOUNTAINS. I PARKED THE TRAILER AND TOOK THE TUCK TO CASSA FORD. THEY HAD THE TRUCK FOR 4 DAYS AND $ 1600.00 WORTH OF REPAIRS. I ASKED IF ANYTHING DONE AT THE TIME IT WAS SERVICE OR THE DRIVING FROM THE FIRST SIGN OF TROUBLE HAD CAUSED OR EXACERBATED THE PROBLEM. THEY SAID NO, IT WAS A PUMP PROBLEM. IN 2011, IT BEGAN TO BLOW BLACK SMOKE OUT THE TAILPIPE; THE DASH SCREEN INDICATED IT WAS CLEANING THE EXHAUST. WITHIN 5 MINUTES THE ENGINE SPUTTERED AND DIED. I CALLED FORD I WAS TOLD TO WAIT AN HOUR AND TRY TO RESTART THE VEHICLE; GIVE THE ENGINE AN OPPORTUNITY TO 'RE-SET' ITSELF. THAT DIDN'T WORK! A TOW WAS SENT AND THE VEHICLE TOWED TO NELSON FORD DEALER IN FERGUS FALLS, MINNESOTA. IT WAS A FAILED EGR VALVE. THE REPAIR WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY.
BED RAILS ARE ROTTING PREMATURELY CAUSING SAFETY CONCERN WHEN TRUCK IS TOWING OR THERE IS WEIGHT IN THE BED OF THE TRUCK I FEEL THAT THIS MAY CAUSE A SAFETY ISSUE FOR PASSENGERS IN THE TRUCK AS WELL AS OTHER MOTORIST ON THE ROADWAY. FIFTH WHEEL HITCH CONNECTION SHIFT BECAUSE OF ROTTED RAIL CAUSING JAM IN HITCH CREATING TRAVEL HAZARD
THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP FAILED, CAUSING THE TRUCK TO LOSE POWER WHILE MERGING ONTO THE INTERSTATE. OUR VEHICLE DID NOT DIE COMPLETELY, AS I'VE HEARD MOST DO. IF WE HAD BEEN HAULING OUR RV, IT COULD HAVE BEEN CATASTOPHIC IN THAT SITUATION. FORD HAS HAD THESE PUMPS RECALLED ON OTHER VEHICLES (A VAN?), BUT BECAUSE THE REPAIR IS COSTLY, I BELIEVE THAT FORD MAY NOT WANT TO RECALL THESE VEHICLES. THE WORST PART OF IT IS THAT ANYONE THAT OWNS AN F350 BUYS IT TO HAUL SOMETHING. IN OUR CASE, A 13000 POUND RV. IF WE LOST POWER STEERING AND BRAKES IN THE MOUNTAINS OF COLORADO AND WYOMING, IT WOULD NOT BE GOOD. EVERY MECHANIC WE TALKED TO ABOUT THIS SEEMS TO FEEL THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM ON THE F350 6.4L POWERSTROKE

VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE TREAD SEPARATED FROM THE TIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 91,335 AND THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 3,000.
I RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2008 FORD F350 DIESEL CREW CAB PICKUP FROM HAYFORD FORD IN ISANTI MN. I HAVE DRIVEN THE VEHICLE A TOTAL OF 1500 MILES SINCE I PURCHASED IT. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP MORE THAN 20 DAYS SINCE I PURCHASED IT. THEY NOW SAY I WILL HAVE A BILL OF $8000 DOLLARS TO REPAIR THE CONTAMINATED DIESEL FUEL SYSTEM. I UNDERSTAND THAT THERE HAS BEEN A FUEL TANK DELAMINATION ISSUE ON THESE VEHICLES THAT CAUSES THIS PROBLEM. THAT CAN LEAD TO A STALLING OF THE ENGINE IF NOT DETECTED PRIOR TO TOTAL FAILURE. FORD WILL NOT EVEN HONOR THE WARRANTY I PURCHASED FROM THEM. I NOTICED THE INCREASE IN ENGINE OIL VOLUME PRIOR TO ANY FAILURE WHICH LED FORD TO DIAGNOSE A FUEL PUMP FAILURE PRIOR TO ENGINE FAILURE. I UNDERSTAND THERE HAVE BEEN FAILURES WHILE THE VEHICLES ARE IN MOTION, WHICH WOULD CAUSE THE POSSIBILITY OF SERIOUS ACCIDENTS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD F-350. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING OVER 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE WOBBLED AND VIOLENTLY VIBRATED WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
MY WIFE DROVE THE TRUCK TO WORK. SHE SAID IT WAS ACTING WEIRD. IT HAD SLACK GOING TO THE RIGHT. IT WAS HARD TO TURN TO THE LEFT. WHEN SHE GOT HOME IT WAS WORSE. I OPENED THE HOOD TO CHECK IT FOR FLUID.THE FLUID WAS GOOD. I GOT INSIDE TO CHECK OUT THE STEERING. IT HAD A LOT OF SLACK BOTH DIRECTIONS. AFTER A FEW TURNS THE HORN WENT OFF AND I HAD TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY IN ORDER TO GET IT TO GO OFF. I THEN TRIED TO TURN THE STEERING AGAIN. I COULD HEAR SOME GRINDING FROM THE GEAR BOX. I DISCONNECTED THE HORN AND RECONNECTED THE BATTERY. I STARTED THE TRUCK AND ATTEMPTED TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL AGAIN. THIS TIME FLUID STARTED TO SPRAY ALL OVER. I COULDN'T LOCATE THE SOURCE. I BELIEVE THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM IN THE GEAR BOX. I DON'T KNOW WHY THE HORN WENT OFF. IT IS NOT ABLE TO BE DRIVEN. IT IS IN MY DRIVEWAY PARKED. ALL I KNOW IS THAT IF IT HAD GONE OUT WHEN MY WIFE WAS ON THE HIGHWAY ONLY GOD KNOWS WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED. SHE TAKES OUR THREE CHILDREN TO DAY CARE. THIS IS THE ONLY VEHICLE THAT IS BIG ENOUGH TO CARRY THE ENTIRE FAMILY. THE TRUCK HAS ONLY 91000 MILES. I LOOKED IT UP AND THERE HAS BEEN OTHER COMPLAINTS WITH THIS YEAR AND MODEL. WE DON'T KNOW HOW MUCH THIS IS GOING TO COST. MY VIEW IS THAT IT IS A DEFECT IN THE TRUCK THAT WAS KNOWN AND WE WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF ANY POSSLBLE PROBLEMS. IT IS SATURDAY NIGHT AND WE CANT CALL FORD GARAGE TILL MONDAY. WE WILL CALL AND ASK THEM WHAT WE CAN DO.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD F-350 SD. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND THE POWER STEERING LOST POWER AND BECAME DIFFICULT TO OPERATE. SHORTLY AFTER THE TRUCK IS UP TO OPERATING TEMPERATURE A CONSTANT PLUME OF WHITE SMOKE CONTINUOUSLY EMITS FROM THE EXHAUST. FUEL ECONOMY HAS HAD A SUBSTANTIAL LOSS. DURING LOWER LEVELS (1/4 OR LOWER LEVELS OF DIESEL) OF FUEL CAPACITY THE ENGINE WILL STALL AND DIE UPON TAKE OFF. ATTEMPTING TO RESTART AFTERWARDS WAS VERY DIFFICULT. DURING THIS PROCESS A "WRENCH" APPEARS ON THE DASH AND THAT'S ABOUT IT. I HAVE NOT CHECKED "CODES" YET AND THE CHECK ENGINE LITE IN ON.

I HAVE A 2008 FORD F350 SUPER DUTY ,, AND THERE ARE MANY KNOWN PROBLEMS ON THIS TRUCK THAT FORD IS AWARE OF AND YET THE REFUSE TO FIX THEM .. THIS IS A VERY EXPENSIVE TRUCK AND I AM VERY DISAPOINTED IN THIS TRUCK .. A WEEK AFTER I GOT THE TRUCK THE RAIDIATOR STARTED LEAKING .. TWO DAYS AFTER THAT MY POWER STEERING GOES OUT ,, NOW I HAVE WHITE SMOKE POURING OUT OF THE BACK OF MY TRUCK EVERY MORNING ,, I AM EMBARRASSED TO BE SEEN DRIVING THIS TRUCK .. I WISH I KNOW WHAT I KNOW NOW BEFORE I FORKED OUT TONS OF DOLLERS TO PURCHASE THIS PIECE OF JUNK .. I AM NOT HAPPY ,, AND I WILL TELL EVERYONE I KNOW NEVER TO BUY A FORD!
I HAVE BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH THIS VEHICLE IN THE STEERING. IT WILL PULL TO THE LEFT OR RIGHT AT ANY GIVEN TIME GOING DOWN THE ROAD. WE ARE A FULL SERVICE SHOP AND OWN THIS VEHICLE. WE HAVE CHECKED EVERYTHING AND CONTACTED FORD. THEY RECOMMENDED CHANGING THE STEERING SHAFT THAT GOES TO THE STEERING GEAR BOX. WE DID, BUT IT STILL DOES IT. NOT SURE WHAT TO DO NEXT. WE ARE IN THE PROCESS OF CHANGING THE STEERING GEAR AS WE HAVE NO OTHER OPTIONS.

I WAS MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN WHEN THE STEERING STARTED TO WOBBLE, SHIMMING. I WAS TRAVELING AT APPROX. 45 MPH AND HAD TO SLOW TO 20 BEFORE IT STOPPED. THIS PICK UP HAS HAD SMALL SHIMMING BEFORE BUT NOTHING THIS BAD. I JUST REPLACED THE SHOCKS AND HAD IT ALIGNED. IT SEEMS TO BE EVEN WORSE AND YES I HAVE THE TIRE PRESSURE AT THE RECOMMENDED 80 PSI. IT IS DANGEREOUS. FORD SENT A LETTER APRIL 2009 09L02. THEY PRETTY MUCH SAID THE NHTSA WAS LOOKING INTO IT AND LIVE WITH IT. PLEASE HELP!

GETTING ON FREEWAY AND TRYING TO REACH AND MAINTAIN POSTED SPEED LIMIT. VEHICLE STARTED SPUTTERING THEN CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I COULD NOT SAFELY MAINTAIN MY SPEED SO I HAD TO PUT FLASHER ON AND PULL OFF THE ROAD. I QUICKLY FOUND OUT THAT THE VEHICLE WENT INTO TO LIMP HOME MODE SO WITH MY FLASHERS ON I PROCEEDED TO HEAD HOME WHICH WAS 40 MILES AWAY. I INDEED LIMPED MY VEHICLE HOME AS I COULD NOT MAINTAIN ANY POSTED SPEED LIMIT AND CREATED WHAT I THOUGHT WAS AN UNSAFE CONDITION FOR OTHER DRIVERS AS THEY WERE TRYING TO PASS AND GET AROUND ME. AFTER MAKING IT HOME I FOUND OUT THAT THERE IS A KNOWN MANUFACTURE DEFECT WITH A PUBLICATION DATE OF APRIL 27, 2011 TSB 11-4-22 6.4L LACKS POWER-DTC P0088. I PULLED MY ENGINE CODES AND I INDEED HAD THE P0088 CODE WHICH IS FUEL RAIL PRESSURE TOO HIGH. I CALLED MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP TO FIND OUT IF THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE KNOWN MANUFACTURE DEFECT. THE GENTLEMAN PUT MY VIN# IN AND TOLD ME THERE WAS NO RECALL FOR THAT KNOWN DEFECT FROM FORD. I'VE DONE MY RESEARCH AND THERE ARE MANY PEOPLE OUT THERE WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM. FORD HAS ADMITTED TO THE KNOWN MANUFACTURE DEFECT BY CREATING THE TSB WITH THE PUBLICATION DATE OF APRIL 27, 2011
SUDDEN VEHICLE ACCELERATION DURING SLOWING/BRAKING. REGISTERED OVER 4000 RPM AT APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH WITH BRAKES FULLY DEPRESSED AND WAS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO STOP WHICH ALMOST LED TO A REAR END COLLISION. AFTER COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP, VEHICLE WAS PUT INTO PARK AND ENGINE SLOWLY DECREASED FROM RACING AND WENT TO NORMAL RPM OPERATING RANGE AT IDLE WITHIN SECONDS. *TR
THE MOON ROOF TRACK ON MY FORD F-350 (2008) FAILED AFTER ABOUT 5 YEARS. I HAD IT REPLACED AT JIM CLICK FORD IN TUCSON AT THE BEGINNING OF 2013 AT A COST OF $2400.00. AT THE BEGINNING OF 2015 IT FAILED AGAIN. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR FORD HAVE AN ANSWER FOR THE FAILURE(S) AND BOTH SAID I NEED TO DO THE REPAIR AGAIN AT MY EXPENSE. I FEEL THAT THE MOON ROOF APPARATUS SHOULD BE STURDY ENOUGH TO LAST THE LIFESPAN OF THE VEHICLE. MY CONTENTION IS THAT THIS ISSUE IS A DEFECT AND COULD BE A SAFETY ISSUE IS THE MOON ROOF IS BLOWN OFF OR CANNOT BE SEALED. FROM THE BEGINNING WITH THIS TRUCK WHEN I WOULD DRIVE IT FORWARD IN HIGH WINDS THE MOON ROOF WOULD LIFT AND CHATTER. THE FRAME IS PLASTIC AND NOT VERY STURDY. I'M SURE FORD USES THIS SAME PLASTIC FRAME ON MANY OF THEIR VEHICLES AND I THINK THAT RESEARCHING REPAIR RECORDS OF THOSE VEHICLES USING THIS FRAME MIGHT BE OF USE IN SEEING IF FAILURES ARE FREQUENT AND A POSSIBLE SAFETY ISSUE. *JS

I PURCHASED A 2008 FORD F-350 P/U TRUCK WITH THE ORIGINAL CONTINENTAL/CONTITRAC TIRES (LT275/70R18 125/122S). THEY ONLY HAVE APPROX. 31K MILES ON THEM AND THE TREAD SHOWING SIGNS OF SEPARATION AS OUTLINED IN A RECALL DATED MARCH 11, 2011. THERE HAVE BEEN NO ACCIDENTS, AND THAT IS WHAT I AM TRYING TO AVOID. I HAVE CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER AND IT DOES NOT APPEAR THAT THEY WILL BE HELPFUL IN RESOLVING THIS MATTER. PLEASE HELP! *TR
DURING ROUTINE SERVICE I NOTICED THAT ALL FOUR OF MY MICHELIN LTX AT2 LT275-70R18 TIRES ARE CRACKING BETWEEN THE TREAD AND THE CENTER OF THE SIDE WALL, TIRES HAVE LESS THAN 20,000 MILES ON THEM AND THEY ARE LESS THAN THREE YEARS OLD. CONTACTED MICHELIN DIRECT, AND THEY ADVISED THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO FOR ME. THERE WEB SITE STATES THE TIRES HAVE A 6 YEAR WARRANTY AND A TREAD WARRANTY UP TO 2/32. TIRES HAVE 7/32 OF TREAD LEFT. I HAVE SEEN SEVERAL OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT CRACKING SIDE WALLS ON THE SAME MICHELIN TIRE IN DIFFERENT SIZES. MICHELIN HAS A PROBLEM, THEY ARE JUST LOOKING THE OTHER WAY. *TR

THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT ONCE THE HOOD WAS OPENED, THE ALTERNATOR CAUGHT ON FIRE. THE CONTACT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. THE POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE ALTERNATOR WAS CYCLING MORE THAN DESIGNED BECAUSE THE BATTERY WAS NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY CAUSING THE FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 81,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD F-350. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED ABD AS A RESULT, EXCESSIVE FORCE WAS REQUIRED IN ORDER TO MANEUVER THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 83,000.
WHILE TURNING SHARP LEFT AT A TRAFFIC SIGNAL, THE TRUCK DID NOT WANT TO CORRECT BACK STRAIGHT. I FORCED IT BACK TO STRAIGHT AND CONTINUED ON. WHILE CONTINUING TO DRIVE, THE TRUCK WOULD TRACK LEFT AND THEN TRACK RIGHT. I TURNED THE STEERING WHEEL QUICKLY AND IT STRAIGHTENED BACK UP. THE TRUCK IS AT A PRIVATE REPAIR SHOP WITH THE TECHNICIAN UNABLE TO FIND ANYTHING BROKEN. HE SUGGESTED THAT IT MAY BE THE POWER STEERING BOX. *TR
EXHAUST GAS TEMP SENSOR ISSUE: DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED, THANK GOD I WASN'T TOWING MY 5TH WHEEL. GOT THE MESSAGE ON THE DASH "STOP SAFELY NOW" AND 10 SECONDS LATER THE TRUCK SHUT ITSELF OFF. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD. IF I HAD BEEN TOWING THE TRAILER ON A HILL I DREAD TO THINK WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED. TOWED THE VEHICLE TO ONE FORD DEALER, THEY COULDN'T DIAGNOSE EVEN THOUGH I FOUND THE PROBLEM ONLINE ( MANY F350 OWNERS HAVE HAD THE EXACT SAME EXPERIENCE) AND THEY TOLD ME TO PICK IT UP THE NEXT DAY. I DID THAT, AND ABOUT A HALF HOUR DOWN THE ROAD IT HAPPENED AGAIN. TOWED TO A DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP, THEY REPLACED ONE OF THE 4 EXHAUST GAS TEMP SENSORS AND AFTER AN ABSURD $500 REPAIR BILL FOR AN $89 PART I WAS ON MY WAY. FORD HAS OBVIOUSLY KNOWN THIS IS A PROBLEM AS THEY HAVE CHANGED THEIR PART NUMBER ON THESE SENSORS - THEY DID SOME SORT OF A REDESIGN REQUIRING A NEW PART NUMBER. I NOW CARRY A SPARE SENSOR WITH ME AT ALL TIMES AS WELL AS THE CORRECT SIZE WRENCH TO REPLACE IT. THIS SHOULD ABSOLUTELY BE A RECALL ISSUE SINCE IT IS BOTH A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AS WELL AS SOMETHING THAT MANY OF US HAVE HAD. A SIMPLE ONLINE SEARCH FINDS MANY PEOPLE WITH THE SAME STORY. I DID CALL FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE, ABSOLUTELY NO ACTION ON THEIR PART. THE OLD ADAGE OF FORD = FOUND ON ROADSIDE DEAD OR FIX OR REPAIR DAILY WAS DEFINITELY TRUE FOR ME. I DO HAVE THE FORD CUSTOMER CARE CASE NUMBER SOMEWHERE IF YOU NEED THAT... *TR

EXHAUST TEMPERATURE SENSOR WILL CAUSE A CRASH THAT MAY END UP KILLING SOMEONE. THIS IS WHAT FAILED ON MY WIFE WHO WAS PULLING A 28' HORSE TRAILER WITH HER SHOW HORSE INSIDE WORTH OVER $30,000 DOLLARS. SHE MERGED TO A ONE LANE ROAD ON INTERSTATE 68 IN MARYLAND HEADING DOWN HILL WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ONE SOON TO FOLLOW WITH A MESSAGE OF PULL OVER SAFELY. 20 SECONDS LATER, THE ENGINE SHUTOFF. THIS CAUSED HER TO LOSE POWER STEERING ON A ONE LANE ROAD GOING OVER A BRIDGE DOWN HILL PULLING A HORSE TRAILER WITH A GROSS WEIGHT OF OVER 10,000 POUNDS. SHE HAD NO WHERE TO PULL OVER SAFELY WHEN THE TRUCK SHUTDOWN ON HER. SHE HAD TO GET OUT OF THE TRUCK IN ORDER TO MOVE THE BARRELS BLOCKING THE RIGHT LANE IN ORDER TO TRY AND GET THE TRUCK AND TRAILER OUT OF THE OPEN LANE. SHE HAD TO BLOCK AN EXIT IN ORDER TO MAKE ROOM FOR THE OTHER VEHICLES. THE TRUCK WENT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP IN CUMBERLAND, MD WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT IT WAS THE EXHAUST TEMPERATURE SENSOR. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE ON THIS VEHICLE. AT NO TIME SHOULD A VEHICLE SHUTDOWN ON SOMEONE DRIVING IT. BELIEVE IT A VEHICLE GOING INTO A LIMP MODE BUT AT LEAST YOU CAN STILL DRIVE IT SO YOU CAN GET TO A SAFE PLACE. THERE NEEDS TO BE AN INVESTIGATION INTO WHY THIS OCCURS AND ENFORCE FORD TO ISSUE A RECALL TO FIX THIS PROBLEM BEFORE SOMEONE IS INJURED OR KILLED. *TR
I HAVE SUBMITTED MY REQUEST FOR A RECALL TO BE ISSUED ON ALL 2008 FORD F350SD FOR THE EXHAUST TEMPERATURE SENSOR FAILURE CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SHUTDOWN. LOOKS AS THOUGH A RECALL WAS ISSUED FOR 2012 FORD 6.7L AMBULANCE PACKAGES: F-350 ENGINE RECALL NUMBER: 13V535000 RECALL DATE: 10/30/2013 PROBLEM SUMMARY: FORD MOTOR COMPANY (FORD) IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2011-2012 F-350/450/550 AMBULANCE PACKAGE VEHICLES MANUFACTURED FEBRUARY 22, 2010, THROUGH OCTOBER 19, 2012 AND EQUIPPED WITH A 6.7L DIESEL ENGINE. DUE TO AN EXHAUST SENSOR PROBLEM, THE VEHICLES MAY EXPERIENCE LOSS OF POWER FOLLOWED BY AN ENGINE STALL. CONSEQUENCE: AN UNEXPECTED ENGINE STALL INCREASES THE RISK OF A CRASH. ADDITIONALLY, IF THIS WERE TO OCCUR WHEN THE AMBULANCE IS TRANSPORTING A PATIENT, THERE IS AN INCREASED RISK OF INJURY TO THE PATIENT. CORRECTIVE ACTION: FORD WILL NOTIFY OWNERS, AND DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE EXHAUST GAS TEMPERATURE SENSOR, FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN BY THE END OF NOVEMBER 2013. OWNERS MAY CONTACT FORD MOTOR COMPANY CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP CENTER AT 1-866-436-7332. FORD'S RECALL CAMPAIGN NUMBER IS 13S10. SURE IF A CRASH CAN RESULT IN THE VEHICLE SHUTTING DOWN ON A 6.7L, IT COULD ALSO OCCUR ON A 6.4L 2008 FORD F350 SUPER DUTY THAT IS NOT AN AMBULANCE PACKAGE. A CRASH IS WHAT ALMOST HAPPEN WHEN MY WIFE'S VEHICLE SHUTDOWN ON HER DUE TO THE SENSOR GOING OUT HEADING DOWN HILL WITH NO POWER STEERING. INVESTIGATE THIS AND HAVE FORD HELD ACCOUNTABLE. I HAVE EMAILED FORD ON SEVERAL OCCASSIONS AND THIS IS THEIR LATEST RESPONSE: OUR RECORDS INDICATE THAT YOU CONTACTED THE FORD CRC ON 9/30/14, AND OUR CUSTOMER CARE REPRESENTATIVE ADVISED YOU THAT WE HAVE DOCUMENTED YOUR COMMENTS WHICH WILL BE FORWARDED TO THE APPROPRIATE DEPARTMENT FOR REVIEW AND CONSIDERATION. WOW "FOR REVIEW AND CONSIDERATION". *TR

ON SEPTEMBER 30, 2014, MY WIFE WAS ON HER WAY TO COLUMBUS, OHIO IN HER 2008 FORD F350 SUPER DUTY TURBO DIESEL TRUCK WITH 44,000 MILES. SHE'S PULLING HER 2014 26 LAKOTA TWO HORSE TRAILER WITH LIVING QUARTERS WITH HER SHOW HORSE ($30,000) IN THE BACK. THE UNEXPECTED HAPPEN WHILE SHE WAS ON MD-51N NEAR CUMBERLAND, MARYLAND HEADING ACROSS A BRIDGE WITH HEAVY TRAFFIC AT 1230PM. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON FOLLOWED BY A PULL OVER SAFELY' MESSAGE. TWENTY SECONDS (20 SECONDS) LATER, THE TRUCK COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN. WIFE WAS TRAVELING AT 70 MILES AN HOUR WHEN THE TRUCK SHUT DOWN, WHICH TURNED THE POWER STEERING OFF. THIS IS WHAT I CALL UNSAFE FOR ANYONE, ESPECIALLY WHEN PULLING A 26 HORSE TRAILER WITH AN EXTRA 1000LBS IN THE BACK WITH A HORSE. SHE WAS NOT ABLE TO GET COMPLETELY OFF THE ROAD BECAUSE IS SHUTDOWN ON THE BRIDGE BLOCKING THE RIGHT LANE WHICH ALMOST CAUSED A MAJOR ACCIDENT DUE TO THE VEHICLE SHUTTING DOWN ON HER. WHILE WAITING ON THE BRIDGE, HER TRAINER HAD TO TURN AROUND HIS EIGHTEEN WHEELER SO MY WIFE COULD UNLOAD HER HORSE AND LOAD IT IN HIS TRAILER. THIS COMPLETELY SHUTDOWN THE TRAFFIC ON MD-51N WHICH IS NOT SAFE UNLOADING AND LOADING A HORSE.AFTER SITTING ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WAITING FOR AAA TO COME TOW THE VEHICLE FOR OVER 1 HOURS, THE VEHICLE STARTED BACK UP AND SHE DROVE IT TO FORD CUMBERLAND, 10335 MT SAVAGE ROAD NW, CUMBERLAND, MD WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STILL ON WITH A POLICE ESCORT SINCE THE SHERIFF OF CUMBERLAND SAT WITH MY WIFE ON MD-51N WAITING ON AAA. THIS IS AFTER SHE WAS ALMOST HIT BY A FEDEX EIGHTEEN WHEELER DUE TO NOT BEING ABLE TO GET TO A SAFE LOCATION FOR A TRUCK AND HORSE TRAILER DUE TO THE VEHICLE SHUTTING DOWN ON HER. THE DEALERSHIP FOUND THE PROBLEM: EXHAUST SENSOR. THEY WERE ABLE TO REPAIR IT AND SHE WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE ON WITH HER TRIP. HOW CAN THIS SENSOR GO OUT ON A TRUCK WITH ONLY 44,000 MILES ON IT? *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON INTERSTATE 75 WHEN THE TRUCK AND STEERING WHEEL STARTED VIBRATING VIOLENTLY, AS I APPLIED THE BRAKES TO SLOW THE VEHICLE IT PULLED SHARP TO THE LEFT TAKING THE VEHICLE ONTO THE MEDIAN. ONCE THE VEHICLE STOPPED, FACING IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION I GOT OUT AND CHECKED THE LEFT FRONT WHEEL, IT WAS TOO HOT TO TOUCH. I LET IT COOL AND THEN PROCEEDED TO THE NEAREST EXIT. I HAD THE LEFT FRONT WHEEL INSPECTED, BUT NO PROBLEM WAS DISCOVERED. I CONTINUED ON MY TRIP FROM TENNESSEE TO FLORIDA. ON THE RETURN TRIP THE PROBLEM HAPPENED THREE TIMES, EACH TIME I STOPPED AND LET THE WHEEL COOL BEFORE CONTINUING. I RESEARCHED THIS PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND THAT SEVERAL OTHER INDIVIDUALS HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM. I BELIEVE THE NTSB SHOULD REQUIRE FORD MOTOR COMPANY TO RECALL THESE VEHICLES AND CORRECT THE PROBLEM BEFORE SOMEONE IS INJURED OR KILLED. THERE IS SUFFICIENT DOCUMENTATION ON THE INTERNET TO JUSTIFY THE NTSB TAKING ACTION. *TR

I WAS DRIVING A F-F350 SD CREW CAB PICKUP TRUCK WITH A TRUCK SHELL TOP APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH WHEN THE LEFT REAR TIRE TREAD BEGAN TO SEPARATE FROM THE TIRE CORD, RESULTING IN THE TREAD THRASHING (APPROXIMATELY 6 REVOLUTIONS) THE INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR OF THE LEFT REAR QUARTER PANEL CAUSING EXTREME BODY DAMAGE TO THE WHEEL WELL, BUMPER, UPPER TRUCK SHELL SLIDING WINDOW. THIS WAS A VERY VIOLENT EXPLOSION WHEN THE TREAD FINALLY SEPARATED AND FLEW OFF THE TIRE CORD. I THEN STOPPED THE VEHICLE, ASSESSED THE PROBLEM, RETRIEVED THE TIRE TREAD WHICH REMAINED INTACT, ALSO IN ONE PIECE...! AMAZINGLY, THE TIRE CORD REMAINED INTACT, STILL PRESSURIZED AND HOLDING AIR... AND I WAS ABLE TO LIMP HOME AT APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH. WENT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP,WHO WERE NOT INITIALLY HELPFUL POINTING THE FINGER TO B.F. GOODRICH, WHO I DID CALLED AND I RECEIVED A RETURN PHONE CALL THE NEXT DAY. I THEN WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN, WHO REMOVED THE TIRE, AND PRESERVED THE TREAD AND TIRE, AND I WAS INSTRUCTED BY THE B.F. GOODRICH REPRESENTATIVE TO SHIP THE TIRE FOR INSPECTION TO THEIR OFFICES. THE INITIAL INSPECTION AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP WAS FOUND TO BE INCONCLUSIVE... AS TO WHETHER OR NOT THE SEPARATION WAS CAUSED BY A ROAD HAZARD, WHICH IT WAS NOT, AND THEN I WAS TOLD I WOULD HAVE TO SHIP THE TIRE TO THEM FOR FURTHER INVESTIGATION, AND WHETHER OR NOT THEY WOULD PROVIDE REIMBURSEMENT FOR THE $3-$4K IN BODY DAMAGE TO MY TRUCK. PREPARING THE TIRE FOR SHIPPING TO B.F.GOODRICH AND WAITING ON THE STATUS OF THE REMAINDER OF MY BODY DAMAGE CLAIM. *TR
ON THE EVENING OF 6/13/2014, I WAS DRIVING MY 2008 FORD F-350 THROUGH THE DRIVE THROUGH LINE OF WHITE CASTLE IN COMMACK, NEW YORK, 11725. AS I WENT TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN TO FOLLOW THE DRIVE THROUGH LANE, A HEARD A METAL BREAKING SOUND FOLLOWED BY COMPLETE LOSS OF STEERING. WITHIN LESS THAN 1 SECOND FROM THIS HAPPENING, MY VEHICLE COLLIDED WITH A CINDER BLOCK WALL CAUSING SIGNIFICANT FRONT END DAMAGE TO THE BUMPER, FENDER AND HEADLIGHT. THERE WERE NO INJURIES TO MYSELF OR ANY PASSENGERS AS WELL AS THE WALL HAD MINIMAL DAMAGE. I HAD A POLICE REPORT FILED WITH THE SUFFOLK COUNTY POLICE DEPARTMENT. THE REPORT CORROBORATES MY STATEMENT OF COMPLETE STEERING LOSS AS THE DIRECT RESULT OF THE ACCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO MY MECHANIC, NORTH SHORE FIRESTONE IN COMMACK. UPON INVESTIGATION THEY DETERMINED THE GEARS INSIDE OF THE STEERING BOX COMPLETELY FAILED. THEY COULD BE OF FURTHER ASSISTANCE DETAILING WHAT THE INTERNALS OF THE STEERING BOX LOOKED LIKE IF NEEDED. THEY ALSO INFORMED ME THERE IS A 2 MONTH BACK LOG ON THE REPLACEMENT FOR THIS PART. BEING THAT THERE IS A REPLACEMENT BACKLOG, FORD MUST KNOW THERE IS A DESIGN FLAW. THIS PART NEEDS TO BE REDESIGNED TO STAND UP TO THE DIFFICULT TASK OF GETTING WHITE CASTLE! THIS FAILURE NOT ONLY CAUSED DAMAGE TO MY TRUCK COSTING OVER $5,000, BUT THIS WILL CAUSE MY INSURANCE TO GO UP AS WELL. IF THIS CAUSES ME TO BE DROPPED FROM MY INSURANCE, I WILL HAVE MAJOR PROBLEMS BEING THAT ALL OF MY JOBS REQUIRE ME TO HAVE TRANSPORTATION. PLEASE HAVE FORD FIX THIS PROBLEM SO NO ONE ELSE IS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. I WAS LUCKY I WAS GOING AT A LOW SPEED, BUT THE NEXT PERSON MAY NOT BE AS LUCKY AS I WAS. *TR

WHILE IN TOW/HAUL MODE TOWING 40' 5TH WHEEL, ENGINE OVERHEATED QUICKLY WHICH RESULTED IN LOSS OF POWER. NO LEAKS SEEN AND COOLANT WAS SPRAYING OUT OF OVERFLOW CAP ONLY. NO LIGHTS CAME ON IN DASH. SEEMS FAN IS NOT KICKING ON WHEN NEEDED? WHEN FAN DOES KICK ON, ENGINE COOLS IMMEDIATELY. THIS IS ONLY AT LOW SPEEDS UNDER HEAVY TOWING. TRUCK RUNS GREAT OTHERWISE WITH NO OVERHEATING PROBLEMS. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE WITH THIS TRUCK AND I'M SURE IT IS CAUSING DAMAGE. WARRANTY JUST RAN OUT OF COURSE. THERE IS A COOLANT LOSS AS WELL, BUT UNKNOWN WHERE IT IS GOING. NO MILKY OIL, NOTHING ON THE GROUND, AND NO WET EXHAUST PIPE. *TR

DRIVING ON A CORNER ONRAMP THE TRUCK'S POWER STEERING GAVE OUT AND THE VEHICLE BECAME ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER. I APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THE STEERING RETURNED. THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES WHILE DRIVING. NO ISSUES WERE FOUND WITH THE POWER STEERING PUMP. RECENTLY HAD THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM FLUSHED AND THAT SEEMED TO IMPROVE THE PROBLEM; HOWEVER, IT'S STARTING TO RETURN. WILL BE TAKING IT BACK IN AGAIN TO SEE IF THE ISSUE CAN BE FIXED. *TR
CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 08B06 WAS ISSUED BY FORD IN DECEMBER 2008. THIS NOTICE EXPIRED IN JUNE 30, 2009. I RECENTLY PURCHASED THE VEHICLE WITHIN THE LAST YEAR. THE SAME ISSUE HAS DEVELOPED THAT WAS IDENTIFIED IN THE ABOVE BULLETIN. THE PREVIOUS OWNER DID NOT GET THE SERVICE PERFORMED AND NOW FORD WILL NOT HONOR THE BULLETIN. THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE A RECALL ISSUE OR THE FORD CUSTOMER SATISFACTION BULLETIN SHOULD BE REOPENED OR RECREATED. THIS IS WITH REGARDS TO ENGINE COOLANT LEAK AND A KNOWN DEFICIENCY WITHIN THE COOLING SYSTEM. *TR
FAILURE OF FLEXIBLE JOINT IN THE EXHAUST UP-PIPE CREATES A FATAL SAFETY HAZARD FOR ALL OCCUPANTS OF THE VEHICLE. EXHAUST GASES LEAK FROM THE FAILED JOINT AND ENTER THE CAB OF THE TRUCK THROUGH THE HEATER VENTS. THIS CAN CAUSE THE OCCUPANTS TO BE OVERCOME BY EXHAUST GASES WHILE DRIVING, LEADING TO A FATALITY. THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL COMPLAINTS IDENTIFIED IN FORD BLOGS WITH REGARDS TO THIS AND NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO CORRECT THIS. *TR

I WAS SLOWING DOWN TO MAKE A LEFT HAND TURN AND I COMPLETELY LOST THE ABILITY TO STEER. I COULD NOT BUDGE THE WHEEL AT ALL. MY BRAKES STILL WORKED, BUT IT DIDN'T FEEL 100%. IT HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 10-15 TIMES IN THE LAST YEAR. WHEN IT HAPPENS, I CAN SHIFT THE TRUCK INTO NEUTRAL AND REV THE ENGINE AND I'LL GET MY STEERING BACK. ALSO, IF I SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL AND TURN THE TRUCK OFF AND BACK ON AGAIN, THE STEERING WILL WORK. THE ONLY TIME IT HAPPENS IS WHEN I'M SLOWING DOWN FROM HIGHWAY SPEEDS, 55+ MPH. IT HAS HAPPENED WHEN TOWING ALSO. THIS IS MY FATHER TRUCK, BUT I USE IT FOR THE FAMILY BUSINESS. *TR
REPEATED "DEATH WOBBLE". MANY TIMES, AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS WHEN I HIT A BUMP OR IMPERFECTION IN THE ROAD, THE TRUCK WILL VIOLENTLY SHAKE AND LOOSE STEERING CONTROL. SEEMS TO HAPPEN MORE OFTEN DURING CURVES IN THE ROAD. I HAVE SHOT SIDEWAYS ACROSS SEVERAL LANES OF TRAFFIC ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION VERY NARROWLY AVOIDING A HIGH SPEED COLLISION. HAPPENS BOTH WHILE PULLING A LOAD OR NOT. DEALERSHIP IS UNWILLING TO HELP. VERY SERIOUS, LIFE THREATENING PROBLEM GOING ON AND I CANNOT BELIEVE FORD IS UNWILLING TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I GUESS THEY WILL WAIT UNTIL SOMEONE DIES FROM THIS BEFORE THEY WILL ACT. I DON'T THINK IT WILL BE LONG BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED FROM THIS LOSE OF STEERING CONTROL! *TR
REPORTING BF GOODRICH COMMERCIAL TA TIRES: SIZE 245R7517 THIS IS THE 2ND INCIDENT INVOLVING THE BF GOODRICH TIRES ON THE SAME VEHICLE. 1ST ACCIDENT (2012) ... TIRE BLEW-UP ON RIGHT FRONT CAUSING IN EXCESS OF $3,000 TO TRUCK, RIM AND SIDE BOARD. TYPE OF VEHICLE IS A FORD F-350 SUPER DUTY DUAL WHEEL CREW CAB. WE HAVE USED BF GOODRICH FOR YEARS UNTIL INCIDENT #2 ON MAY 20,2013. THIS INCIDENT CAUSED APPROX.$2,600.00 ON RIGHT REAR, INNER TIRE BLOW-OUT. THE TIRE ACTUALLY THREW THE ENTIRE TREAD OFF LEAVING THE BELTS ON TOP OF THE INNER TIRE. AFTER CALLING BF GOODRICH, THEY CLAIM NO OTHER COMPLAINTS HAVE BEEN FILED OR REGISTERED WITH THE 17" BF GOODRICH COMMERCIAL TA AND I WOULD HAVE TO SEND THE TIRE TO THEM FOR LAB INSPECTION. PRIOR TO THIS ACCIDENT, WE INSPECTED VISUALLY ALL TIRES TO MEET D.O.T REQUIREMENTS. ESTIMATING TREAD WEAR,ETC, WE FEEL THIS TIRE STILL HAD AROUND 7000 TO 10000 MILES BEFORE BARS WOULD SHOW. WE HAVE TAKEN PICTURES OF THE TIRE BEFORE SENDING TO BF GOODRICH. A STATEMENT FROM THE DRIVER IS AVAILABLE. THE TIRE STARTED MAKING A "THUMP" SOUND RIGHT BEFORE COMING APART. I HAVE MY DOUBTS THIS COMPANY WILL REPLACE ANY TIRE(S) OR ASSUME ANY DAMAGES. IT WILL PROBABLY TAKE MORE SEVERE CASES BEFORE THERE IS A RECALL OR DAMAGES ACCEPTED BY BF GOODRICH. *TR
DURING U-TURN, A CURB WAS TRAVERSED BY RIGHT FRONT TIRE. AFTER STEERING CAME BACK STRAIGHT, STEERING WHEEL WAS OFF CENTER 25 DEGREES WITH TRUCK PULLING LEFT. AN ALIGNMENT WAS DONE TO CORRECT THAT LASTED A MONTH. STEERING WHEEL DRIFTED BACK TO 25 DEGREES OFF CENTER AND TRUCK PULLED TO LEFT. A SECOND ALIGNMENT WAS COMPLETED BY A DIFFERENT DEALER CORRECTING PROBLEM FOR THE MOST PART. VEHICLE STILL PULLS LEFT AND OR RIGHT ON CERTAIN ROADS, WITH PLAY IN STEERING WHEEL THAT CANNOT BE ADJUSTED OUT. CONCLUSION IS STEERING BOX IS PRETTY "LIGHT DUTY" FOR A SUPER DUTY RATED TRUCK. MONDAY, JANUARY 3, 2011, WE WERE DRIVING ON A RURAL ROAD IN ROUTE TO SHARPS CHAPEL, TENNESSEE WHEN THE RIGHT SIDE FRONT PASSENGER CALIPER/ROTOR ASSEMBLY FAILED CAUSING SMOKING AND BURNING SMELL OF THE BRAKE SHOES FORCING ME TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. AFTER ALLOWING THE BRAKES TO COOL, I CONTACTED AND DROVE TO MORRISTOWN FORD IN TENNESSEE AND THEY TO ATTEMPTED TO REPAIR THE BRAKES BY DISASSEMBLING AND CLEANING THE CALIPER/ROTOR SINCE THEY DID NOT HAVE THE PARTS AVAILABLE TO APPROPRIATELY RECTIFY THE SITUATION. FORD F350 WITH 6.4L DIESEL HAD CHECK ENGINE LIGHT (CEL) ILLUMINATE WHILE DRIVING. ENGINE IMMEDIATELY SLOWED TO IDLE (800RPM) AND WOULD NOT RESPOND TO THROTTLE INPUTS. WAS NOT ABLE TO CLEAR ROADWAY AND BLOCKED TRAFFIC ON BUSY URBAN ROAD. DEALER WAS "NOT ABLE TO FIND ANYTHING WRONG", YET "PERFORMED CALIBRATION UPDATE ON PCM". I WAS INFORMED "THIS NEEDS TO BE DONE AS VEHICLE AGES AND SENSORS WEAR." REVIEWED OWNERS MANUAL AND DID NOT LOCATED MAINTENANCE INTERVAL FOR "CALIBRATION UPDATES TO PCM." I AM CERTAIN THIS IS AN INHERENT PCM SOFTWARE CODE ERROR LEADING TO COMPLETE LOSS OF ENGINE OPERATION. A DANGEROUS SITUATION ON CONGESTED ROADWAYS. *TR
UPON INSPECTION OF THIS VEHICLE,OUR MECHANIC FOUND THE AUTOMATIC DIPSTICK TUBE RUSTED IN HALF ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ENGINE. AT THE BRACKET THAT BOLTS TO THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD. WE BELIEVE THIS TO BE A POTENTIAL FIRE /SAFETY HAZARD IF SOME ONE WAS TO FILL OR CHECK THE TRANSMISSION WHILE THE ENGINE IS HOT. WE ALSO FOUND THE RIGHT SIDE SHOCK TOWER SEVERELY DEGRADED BECAUSE OF RUST. THE TOP OF THE TOWER HAS LARGE PIECES OF RUST SCALE ON TOP OF THE TOWER THAT WE FEEL COULD POSSIBLY ALLOW THE COIL SPRING PRESSURE TO FRACTURE THE STEEL AND CAUSE A LOSS OF STEERING. I HAVE NOT SEEN THIS MUCH CORROSION ON A TRUCK THIS NEW. WE HAVE TAKEN PICTURES AND CAN BE E-MAILED IF NEEDED. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN REMOVED FROM SERVICE UNTIL IT CAN BE REPAIRED. THIS IS A CITY OF ALLENTOWN ,PA FLEET VEHICLE. *TR
START OF MULTIPLE OCCURRENCES OF DEATH WOBBLE WITH THIS TRUCK AND NUMEROUS TRIPS TO THE FORD DEALERSHIPS WITH NO FIX. I TRIED TO ACCELERATE ONTO INTERSTATE 85 N FROM EXIT 57 IN OPELIKA, AL DURING VERY BUSY TRAFFIC CONDITIONS AND COULD NOT GET ABOVE 60 MPH, WHICH NEARLY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. THE FORD DEALER DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM TO BE A FAILED HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP WHICH WAS NOT COVERED BY THE FACTORY 100,000 MI. WARRANTY DUE TO WHAT THE DEALER AND A FORD MOTOR CO. REPRESENTATIVE FROM CUSTOMER RELATIONS SAID WAS CONTAMINATED FUEL DAMAGE. THE 6.4 L DIESEL FUEL SYSTEM IS EQUIPPED WITH A TWO FILTER AND FUEL/WATER SEPARATOR SYSTEM FOR THE PURPOSE OF FILTERING CONTAMINATES, INCLUDING WATER, WHICH OBVIOUSLY FAILED AND CONSEQUENTLY CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP. ALL SERVICES HAD BEEN PERFORMED AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP TO INCLUDE THE FUEL FILTERS. FORD SEEMS TO BE PLACING THE BLAME ON CONTAMINATED FUEL AS THE CAUSE FOR THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP FAILURE WHEN THERE IS A HIGH PROBABILITY THAT IT IS A DEFECT IN THE FILTERING SYSTEM. *JS

WAS DRIVING TO WORK ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE TRUCK STALLED AND QUITE RUNNING. AFTER HAVING THE VEHICLE TOWED INTO A FORD DEALERSHIP THEY DETERMINED THAT 2 FUEL INJECTORS ALONG WITH THE FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR WERE BAD. AFTER FURTHER RESEARCH THEY DETERMINED IT WAS CAUSED BY CORRISON IN THE FUEL TANK. THEY SAID FORD WOULD NOT STAND BEHIND THE PROBLEM AS THEY BLAMED IT ON THE DIESEL FUEL. WE BUY THE SAME DIESEL FUEL THAT OTHER TRUCKS USE AND THEY DO NOT SEEM TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM. IT IS BOUGHT AT REPUTABLE GAS STATIONS. FORTUNATELY WE WERE ABLE TO GET THE TRUCK OFF THE ROAD THIS TIME AND NOT CAUSE ANY ACCIDENTS. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL ISSUE BACKED BY FORD MOTOR COMPANY INSTEAD OF A MONEY MAKER FOR THEM. AFTER RESEARCHING THE INTERNET THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AND MAKE FORD RESPONSIBLE FOR THE PROBLEM BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT. *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY 2008 F-350 SUPERDUTY DIESEL POWERED TRUCK AT 45 MPH FOR APPROX 2 MILES, RECEIVED MESSAGE " "STOP SAFELY NOW" AND COMPLETE POWER DOWN OF ENGINE. THE TRUCK DECELERATED SO FAST THAT HAD WE NOT BEEN PASSING A PULL OFF LANE WE WOULD HAVE BEEN STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DRIVING LANE. THE WHOLE INCIDENT HAPPENED IN LESS THAN 10 SECONDS. AFTER GETTING OVER TO SIDE OF ROAD, ENGINE WOULD NOT CRANK OVER AND WAS NOT ALLOWED TO RESTART UNTIL AFTER THE ENGINE EITHER COOLED DOWN OR TIMED OUT (DIDN'T TRY FOR ABOUT AN HOUR LATER). BY TIME TOW TRUCK ARRIVED, WE HAD GOTTEN THE ENGINE TO START BUT DID NOT FEEL IT SAFE TO TRY AND MOVE THE VEHICLE AS WE HAD NO IDEA HOW FAR IT WOULD GO OR IF IT WOULD HAPPEN AGAIN. TRUCK WAS IN SHOP SERVICED FOR 60,000 AND HAD LATEST FORD RECALL FOR REPROGRAMMING COMPLETED LESS THAN 30 MILES PRIOR TO INCIDENT. WE WERE TOLD THERE WAS A TECH BULLETIN OUT ON THIS PROBLEM BUT IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE ENGINE WARRANTY SO WE HAD TO PAY OUT OF POCKET. THE FIX IS ONLY HALF THE ISSUE; 10-15 SECOND IS NOT ENOUGH WARNING TO SAFELY PULL OFF THE ROAD. IF WE HAD BEEN PULLING OUR TRAVEL TRAILER, WE WOULD NOT EVEN BEEN ABLE TO GET AS FAR AS WE DID. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME A TECH BULLETIN ISSUE HAS HAPPENED TO US (PRIOR ISSUE WAS WITH A PRESSURE VALVE ON THE RADIATOR THAT CAUSED THE RADIATOR TO SPLIT) FORD SHOULD INFORM US OF POTENTIAL PROBLEMS SO WE CAN BE AWARE OF POSSIBLE ISSUES BEFORE THEY HAPPEN, NOT DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD.

THE TRUCK DECELERATED SO FAST THAT DESPITE MY FLOORING THE THROTTLE, THE CAR BEHIND ME ALMOST COLLIDED. THE TRUCK LOST SO MUCH POWER THAT I COULD NOT SAFELY PULL OFF ROAD AND WAS IN A RURAL AREA BETWEEN TWO BLIND CURVES. THE WHOLE INCIDENT HAPPENED IN LESS THAN 30 SECONDS AND LEFT TRUCK COMPLETELY VULNERABLE TO WHATEVER TRAFFIC CONDITIONS WERE AT THE TIME OF INCIDENT. AFTER GETTING OVER TO SIDE OF ROAD, TRUCK STALLED ON SLIGHT RISE AND DID NOT HAVE THE POWER TO MOVE, HOWEVER WHEN I SHUT TRUCK DOWN, MY 5FT8IN 200LB BODY WAS ABLE TO PUSH THE 8000 LB VEHICLE OVER THE HUMP. I BOUGHT MY 2008 F350 TRUCK FROM CARBON FORD ON APRIL 25, 2010. AT THE TIME, THE TRUCK HAD AFTER MARKET WINDOW TINT ON IT. RATHER THAN REMOVE THE TINT, THEY DIRECTED ME TO ANOTHER INSPECTION STATION SO THAT THE TRUCK WOULD PASS BY ROLLING DOWN THE WINDOWS (IT FAILED ONCE). 1 YEAR LATER, I HAVE THE SAME ISSUE AGAIN. THIS TIME HOWEVER, I HAVE LEARNED THAT THE TRUCK THEY SOLD ME WAS ACTUALLY INVOLVED IN A ROLLOVER (NOT PROPERLY DISCLOSED). WHEN I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE, I KNEW THAT IT HAD BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. I TOLD THEM I NEEDED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED BEFORE PURCHASING IT. THEY SAID IT JUST HIT A SNOW BANK AND NO BIG DEAL. THEY ACTUALLY CALLED SOMEONE TO CONFIRM THIS. THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO FIX THE VEHICLE AND ARE OFFERING ME ONLY A VERY SMALL DOLLAR AMOUNT. MEANWHILE, THE WINDOWS ARE STILL TINTED AND IT WILL NOT PASS INSPECTION. [XXX] (I BELIEVE A MANAGER THERE), INSTRUCTED ME TO GO TO A GARAGE THAT CARBONE WORKED CLOSELY WITH IN THE PAST. HE TOLD ME TO TELL THEM THAT CARBONE SENT ME AND THAT THEY WOULD PASS THE VEHICLE EVEN WITH THE VERY DARK TINTED WINDOWS THAT CAME ON THE TRUCK. THEY ARE SELLING VEHICLES THAT DO NOT PASS INSPECTION, AND THEN FINDING WAYS AROUND IT SO THAT THEY DON'T HAVE TO FIX THEM. I WAS TOLD THAT IF I TRY TO GET THE INSPECTION, I WILL GET A RED REJECTION STICKER AND WILL NOT BE ABLE TO DRIVE THE TRUCK ANYMORE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED TWICE AND IT WAS REPAIRED THREE TIMES FOR THE SAME FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 26,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 31,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
THE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT 20" ALLOY RIM MOUNTED ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF MY 2008 FORD F350 SUPER DUTY DEVELOPED A STRESS FRACTURE THAT WHEN IN MOTION AND SUPPORTING THE FULL WEIGHT OF THE VEHICLE, OPENS AND CLOSES WITH EACH ROTATION OF THE WHEEL, CAUSING AIR PRESSURE TO VENT AND THE TIRE TO GO FLAT AFTER SEVERAL MILES OF DRIVING. THE FRACTURE DOES NOT VENT WHEN THE WHEEL IS REMOVED FROM THE VEHICLE OR WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY WITH NO STRESS ON THE FRACTURED AREA. THE FRACTURE IS NOT CAUSED BY ACCIDENT OR ABUSE. IT SEEMS TO BE A MANUFACTURING DEFECT THAT TOOK SEVERAL YEARS TO DEVELOP INTO A DETECTABLE FAULT. STRESS FRACTURES OF THIS TYPE ARE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS BECAUSE THEY ARE POTENTIALLY CAPABLE OF 100% FAILURE AT VEHICULAR SPEED, RESULTING IN RIM FAILURE AND SUBSEQUENT LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL. *TR
2008 FORD F 350 FX4 EQUIPPED WITH FORD'S PREMIUM WHEELS, THE PLASTIC FULL SIZE WHEEL COVERS ARE FALLING OFF OF THE WHEELS THAT THEY ARE ATTACHED TO. THE TAPE THAT HOLDS THE PLASTIC WHEEL COVERTO THE STEEL WHEEL IS FAILING. I AM CONCERNED THAT THESE WHEEL COVERS WILL FLY OFF AND HIT SOMEONE CAUSING AN ACCIDENT OR INJURIES. THERE IS NO DAMAGE TO ANY OF THESE WHEEL COVERS. 1 COVER HAS ALREADY FALLEN OFF AND THE OTHER 3 ARE BECOMING LOOSE LIKE THE FIRST. I CALLED FORD'S CUSTOMER SERVICE PHONE NUMBER AND HAD THE TRUCK INTO THE DEALER. BOTH FORD & THE DEALER STATED THAT THE TRUCK WAS OUT OF IT'S WARRANTY PERIOD (I PURCHASED FORD'S BEST EXTENDED WARRANTY WHEN THE TRUCK WAS PURCHASED; SAME ANSWER) AND NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY. THEY DID EVEN LOOK AT THE WHEELS. *TR
I BROUGHT THIS 2008 FORD F-350SD TO THE DEALER TODAY BECAUSE OF ANTI-FREEZE LEAKING FROM BOTTOM OF RADIATOR ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. THE TRUCK HAS ABOUT 16000 MILES ON IT. DEALER SAYS THE RADIATOR MUST BE REPLACED AND NO WARRANTY SO I AM RESPONSIBLE FOR REPAIRS. I CALLED FORD AND ASKED FOR HELP AND WAS TURNED DOWN. THE FORD DEALER CONTACTED FORD AND ASKED FOR HELP AND WAS TURNED DOWN. I HAVE READ OF NUMEROUS RADIATOR FAILURES ON THIS YEARS F350 SO EVIDENTLY THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE DESIGN OF THEIR COOLING SYSTEM AND FORD SHOULD REIMBURSE FOR THESE FAILURES. NO RADIATOR SHOULD FAIL IN 16000 MILES.
EXPERIENCED VIOLENT SHUDDER / WOBBLE AFTER HITTING BUMP AT 65 MPH WHILE TOWING 7,000 LBS. CAMPER. EXPERIENCED SAME WOBBLE AT 40 MPH AFTER HITTING POT HOLE 7 DAYS LATER. AFTER REVIEWING ONLINE FOOTAGE, I APPEAR TO HAVE EXPERIENCED THE EVENT COMMONLY REFERRED TO AS 'DEATH WOBBLE'. PROBLEM GOES AWAY AFTER COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP. *TR
I BOUGHT A 2008 SUPER DUTY WITH THE 6.4 L DIESEL ENGINE IN IT. I NOTICED THAT THE RADIATOR WAS LEAKING ON THE BOTTOM DRIVER SIDE. I DECIDED TO DO SOME RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET TO SEE IF IT WERE A COMMON PROBLEM , TO MY SURPRISE IT WAS. EVERYONE THAT HAS A SUPER DUTY TRUCK WITH THE 6.4 L COMPLAINT ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM , RADIATOR LEAKING ON THE BOTTOM DRIVER SIDE. SOME OF THE OWNERS RECORDED THAT IT WAS THEIR 3 RD RADIATOR IN THEIR TRUCK. I DID SOME RESEARCH ON CARFAX AND NOTICED THAT ATLEAST 7 TRUCKS OUT OF 20 THAT WERE FOR SALE IN THE MEMPHIS AREA HAD THEIR RADIATORS REPLACED AND SOME TRUCKS MORE THAN 3 TIMES. I WENT TO THE DEALER AND THEY LOOK AT MY RADIATOR AND TOLD ME THAT THEY WOULD REPLACE IT UNDER WARRANTY. THEY ALSO LOOKED AND MADE SURE THAT MY TRUCK HAD THE VENTURI KIT INSTALLED ON IT, THAT FORD HAD A RECALL ON THE COOLING SYSTEM BACK IN 08 , IT WAS INSTALLED. AFTER THEY REMOVED MY RADIATOR THE SERVICE MAN TOLD ME THAT IF MY THERMOSTATS WERE NOT AT FAULT THAT I HAD TO PAY FOR THE RADIATOR. MY THERMOSTATS HE SAID WERE FINE SO I WAS RESPONSIBLE TO PAY FOR A NEW RADIATOR. I STRONGLY BELIEVE FORD SHOULD BE HOLD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THESE COOLING SYSTEMS THAT IS FAILING . TO ME THEY ARE ONLY PATCHING A PROBLEM AND HOPE IT WILL LAST TILL THE WARRANTY IS OVER AND THEN IT IS THE OWNERS PROBLEM . TO MANY OWNERS OUT THERE HAS THE SAME PROBLEM FOR ME TO EXCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR WHAT IS CLEARLY A BAD DEFECT ON THE COOLING SYSTEM. MY TRUCK HAS ONLY 64 000 MILES ON IT, AND I DON'T EVEN TOW ANYTHING. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD F-350 SD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, HE WOULD HEAR A LOUD NOISE COMING FROM THE HOOD. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER WHO ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT HE NEEDED TO REPLACE THE ROCKER ARMS IN THE ENGINE. THE DEALER ALSO ADVISED HIM THAT IF NOT REPLACED, THEY WOULD PUNCTURE THE MOTOR CAUSING THAT TO FAIL AS WELL. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 111.
WHEN MY 08 F-250 DIESEL IS DRIVEN IN THE RAIN ON THE HIGHWAY AT A CONSTANT SPEED, THEN ACCELERATE TO PASS OR GO UP A GRADE IT HAS A HESITATION AND WHITE SMOKE OR STEAM. BRAKE PEDAL LOCATION AND DEPRESSING VEHICLE'S BRAKE PEDAL AND GAS PEDAL AT THE SAME TIME. STREET DEPARTMENT WORKERS WEARING PROPER WORK BOOTS HAVE FOUND THAT THE PEDAL SPACING IS NOT ADEQUATE BETWEEN GAS PEDAL AND BRAKE PEDAL. I HAVE A 2008 350 SUPER DUTY FORD TRUCK. I HAVE ABOUT 35,000 MILES ON THE TRUCK AND IN THOSE MILES I HAVE HAD ABOUT A DOZEN INCIDENTS WHERE THE TRUCKS AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION DID NOT START FROM A DEAD STOP IN 1ST. GEAR. IN STEAD IT MUST HAVE STARTED IN 3RD. OR 4TH GEAR RESULTING IN WHAT WOULD BE A VERY UNDERPOWERED START. I WOULD PRESS THE ACCELERATOR TO THE FLOOR WHICH WOULD RESULT IN THE TRANSMISSION DOWN SHIFTING AND THE WHEELS SPINNING EVEN WHEN PULLING A 5TH WHEEL TRAILER. TWICE, WHILE EMPTY, I NEARLY HAD AN ACCIDENT WHEN I NEEDED A RAPID RESPONSE TO ENTER TRAFFIC. THE LAST TIME THIS HAPPENED WAS 8/25/2010. WHEN I HAVE TAKEN THIS COMPLAINT TO A FORD DEALERSHIP, THEY SAY THEY CAN NOT FIND ANY CODES, HOWEVER THE LAST TIME THE DEALER DID A COMPUTER UPDATE ON THE TRUCK AND THAT WAS ABOUT 10 MONTHS AGO AND I THOUGHT THE PROBLEM WAS SOLVED. I MET ANOTHER PERSON WITH THE SAME POWER TRAIN AS MINE WHO HAD THE SAME PROBLEM, FINALLY HIS TRANSMISSION WENT OUT AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE YOU INVESTIGATE THIS ISSUE, IT MAY SAVE A LIFE. *TR

HI, MY NAME IS [XXX] , MY TRUCK IS 2008 FORD F350 SUPER DUTY DIESEL 6.4L LARIAT DUALLY.WHEN I BOUGHT MY TRUCK IT HAD 57,000 MILE AND I USE IT TO TWO BIG TRAILERS TO TRANSPORT FURNITURE'S OUT OF THE STATE TEXAS. LAST WEEK WHILE I WAS PULLING MY LOADED TRAILER ON THE HIGHWAY IN IRVING TEXAS GOING TO NEW ORLEANS LA DRIVING 60 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY, SOMETHING TOLD ME TO STOP AND GET SOME WATER FROM THE MY COOLER AT THE BACK SEAT BECAUSE I WILL NOT STOP FOR AT LEAST 200 MILE. AS I SLOWED DOWN AND PULLED OFF THE HIGHWAY, WHEN I REACH 15 MILES PER HOUR THE TRUCK WOULD NOT STOP SO I PUSH HARD ON THE BRAKE AND MY FOOT WENT ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FLOOR AND MY HEART WENT DOWN WITH IT, I HAD TO USE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE, LOW GEAR 1, AND GO ON THE GRASS TO STOP MY TRUCK. A MOBILE MECHANIC CAME AND SAID I NEVER SEEN THIS BEFORE, YOUR BREAK BOOSTER EARS ARE ONE BROKE OFF AND THE OTHER ONE IS VERY LOOSE.( WHERE THE MASTER CYLINDER CONNECT TO THE BRAKE BOOSTER. HE TIGHTENED ON BOLT AND TOLD ME TO FOLLOW HIM TO FORD DEALER 3 MILES DOWN THE ROAD, USING THE BRAKE VERY LIGHTLY, DRIVING SLOW AND RELY MOSTLY ON THE TRAILER BRAKES. WE WENT TO WEST WAY FORD AT FIRST DID NOT WANT TO DIAGNOSE MY TRUCK, AND TOLD ME I HAVE TO WAIT 3 DAYS BECAUSE THEY ARE BEHIND AND THEY COULD NOT HELP ME NOW. I TOLD HIM THAT I AM LUCKY TO BE A LIFE AND TALKING TO YOU NOW, HE REPLIED OTHER CUSTOMERS HAVE TO WAIT AND YOU DO TOO! SO I CALLED FORD MOTOR COMPANY AND I SPOKE WITH KELLY, SHE TOOK DOWN THE REPORT AND TOLD ME AFTER THE TECHNICIAN FINISH DIAGNOSING YOU TRUCK WE WILL SEE WHAT WE CAN DO. THEY ASK WEST WAY FORD (VINCE GRAZIOSO TO LOOK AND DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM AND TOLD ME I NEED TO PAY TO REPLACE MY BRAKE BOOSTER,. 2008 FORD F-350 SUPER DUTY TRUCK. CONSUMER STATES VEHICLE IS INHERENTLY UNSAFE BECAUSE OF A DESIGN FLAW *TGW THE CONSUMER BELIEVED THE FRONT SUSPENSION AND STEERING MECHANISMS WERE TOO LIGHT FOR THE WEIGHT OF THE TRUCK AND FOR THE TYPE OF LOAD IT WAS SUPPOSED TO HANDLE. THE CONSUMER STATED THE FRONT END WAS RATED TO CARRY 5200LBS. HOWEVER, WHEN THE TRUCK WAS EMPTY, THERE WAS ALREADY 4800LBS ON THE FRONT END. THE CONSUMER STATED THE TRUCK IS SUPPOSED TO BE A SUPER DUTY TRUCK, BUT APPARENTLY IT CAN'T CARRY ANYTHING EXCEPT A PASSENGER OR TWO BEFORE THE FRONT END IS OVERLOADED. THE STEERING BOX BROKE SUDDENLY FOR THE TIME AT 26,050 MILES. WHICH CAUSED THE CONSUMER TO CRASH INTO A PARKED VEHICLE AT ABOUT 20 MPH. THE DEALER REPLACED THE STEERING BOX, BUT THE NEW ONE FAILED AT 29, 581 MILES. THE CURRENT STEERING BOX IS FEELING LOOSE AND THE TRUCK WANDERS. THE BALL JOINTS AND TIE ROD ENDS WERE REPLACED AT 38,587 MILES. THE CONSUMER ALSO STATED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN OVER A BUMP, IF FELT AS THOUGH THE POWER STEERING MALFUNCTIONED FOR A FEW SECONDS. *JB
AFTER PARKING MY FORD F-350 CREW CAB 4X4 WITH A V-10 ENGINE, I EXITED THE VEHICLE AND CIRCLED AROUND TO THE PASSENGER SIDE WHERE I NOTICED FROM THE CORNER OF MY EYE FLAMES IN THE R FRONT WHEEL WELL. BEHIND THE TIRE. I IMMEDIATELY WENT INSIDE THE BUILDING AND SUMMONED HELP AND A FIRE EXTINGUISHER (ABC) . MYSELF AND SECURITY PERSONNEL DID NOT OPEN THE HOOD. WE DIRECTED THE FIRE EXT. INTO THE WHEEL WELL AND THERE WAS A SORT OF BACKLASH AND WITH SECONDS A PAINT BUBBLING HOT SPOT APPEARED ON THE HOOD. WE IMMEDIATELY CONTACTED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WHO RESPONDED. WITHIN MINUTES THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT WAS COMPLETELY ENGULFED IN FLAMES AND THERE WAS FLAMING UNDER THE ENGINE AS WELL. WE CLEARED THE AREA OF ONLOOKERS AS FIREMAN FOUGHT THE BLAZE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES TO MYSELF, THE SECURITY GUARD WHO RESPONDED, FIREMEN OR ONLOOKERS. *TR
I PURCHASED A 2008 FORD 350 SUPER DUTY KING RANCH WITH A 6.4L DIESEL AND STARTED HAVING THROTTLE PROBLEMS @ ABOUT 5,000 MILES. I HAD REPEATED PROBLEMS WITH THROTTLE RESPONSE. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HWY @ 70MPH AND THE TRUCK JUST WENT INTO IDLE MODE AND WOULD NOT RESPOND TO THE THROTTLE PEDAL. I WAS VERY LUCKY TO BE ABLE TO WEAVE THRU TRAFFIC AND PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I SHUT THE TRUCK OFF AND SAT THERE FOR A FEW MINUTES THEN RESTARTED THE TRUCK AND DROVE OFF. ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS I WOULD START THE TRUCK AND IT WOULD DRIVE A SHORT WAYS AND THEN KICK INTO IDLE MODE AND THE ENGINE WOULD NOT RESPOND TO THE PEDAL. I HAD THE TRUCK TOWED INTO THE FORD DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE PEDAL SENSOR AND GAVE IT BACK TO ME. I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH CUSTOMER SERVICE ON 6/18/2009 CASE # [XXX] AS THE PROBLEM CONTINUED TO HAPPEN. I HAD THE TRUCK TOWED IN AGAIN AND THE FORD DEALER REPLACED THE MAP SENSOR. THE PROBLEM CONTINUED TO HAPPEN AND I HAD THE TRUCK TOWED INTO THE FORD DEALER AGAIN AND LEFT IT WITH THEM. THEY CALLED ME BACK AND SAID THE TRUCK WAS READY TO PKUP. I WAS UNDER THE IMPRESSION THAT THEY HAD CHANGED A PART OR CORRECTED THE PROBLEM. I INFORMED THEM THAT I WAS GOING ON A HUNTING TRIP TO UT IN LATE DECEMBER AND WANTED TO ENSURE MY TRUCK WAS IN FACT REPAIRED. I DROVE TO ELKO NV AND SPENT THE NIGHT. THE NEXT DAY (SUNDAY) I STARTED THE TRUCK AND IT KICKED INTO IDLE MODE AND WOULD NOT RESPOND TO THE THROTTLE. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE FORD DEALER AGAIN. THE NEXT DAY THEY REFLASED THE COMPUTER IN THE TRUCK AND SAID THEY HOPED IT WOULD GET ME HOME. WHEN I RETURNED HOME I TOOK THE TRUCK INTO THE LOCAL FORD DEALER AGAIN. THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THEY DID CHANGE OUT THE PCM AND GAVE ME BACK THE TRUCK BUT WOULD NOT CONFIRM THEY FIXED THE PROBLEM. I WAS IN CONTACT WITH FORD CUST SERVICE AND REQUESTED A BUY BACK. THEY REFUSED. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR
1. ON JULY 8TH 2009 WHILE RETURNING HOME FROM TEXAS AT THE POSTED SPEED WE EXPERIENCED A VIBRATION. I CHECKED THE INSTRUMENT PANEL FOR ANY PROBLEMS SUCH AS THE LOW TIRE INDICATOR LIGHT. SECONDS AFTER THE RIGHT SIDE REAR TIRE EXPLODED AND PULLED THE TRUCK VIOLENTLY TO THE RIGHT AS I FOUGHT TO CONTROL THE TRUCK AND BRING IT TO A STOP. THE TREAD HAD SEPARATED FROM THE TIRE AND CAUSED EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO RIGHT QUARTER PANEL AS WELL AS THE EXHAUST. WE RETURNED THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPAIRED THE DAMAGE AND REPLACED THE CONTINENTAL TIRE. I EXPRESSED MY CONCERN OF THE REMAINING TIRES AND THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WAS AN ISOLATED INCIDENT AND SHOULDN'T HAVE ANY MORE PROBLEMS. THE TRUCK AND ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT TIRES ONLY HAD 12K MILES. 2. ON 2/12/10 WHILE DRIVING TO CAL. AGAIN @ POSTED SPEED AND NO LOW TIRE INDICATOR LIGHT ON. THE SAME CONDITIONS AS ABOVE ONLY TOWING A FIFTH WHEEL TRAILER. WE EXPERIENCED A VIBRATION AND WITH IN SECONDS THE LEFT REAR TIRE EXPLODED AND AGAIN THE TREAD SEPARATED FROM THE TIRE AND CAUSED EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE LEFT QUARTER PANEL. WE WERE VERY FORTUNATE TO BRING THE RIG TO A STOP WITH OUT ROLLING OR CAUSING INJURY OR FATALITY. AGAIN I RETURNED THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER ON 2/14/10 AND THEIR IT SITS TO THIS DAY 3/17/10 AND NOTHING BUT EXCUSES. *TR

I HAVE A 2008 FORD F-350 DUALLY THAT WHEN HITTING A DIP/BUMP IN THE ROAD AT SPEEDS ABOVE ABOUT 35, THE ENTIRE FRONT END SHAKES/SHIMMYS SO BAD THAT YOU CAN'T EVEN CONTROL IT! I RECEIVED A LETTER IN THE MAIL FROM FORD IN APRIL 2009 BASICALLY SAYING WHEN IT HAPPENS SLOW DOWN. THE DEALER REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING. SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET KILLED IF THIS IS NOT FIXED. *TR
2008 FORD 350 SD ACCELERATED 2 DIFFERENT TIMES AT VERY HIGH SPEED. COULD NOT STOP IT EITHER TIME. HAD TOO PUT IT INTO PARK TO STOP AND SMOKE FILLED THE CAB AND WAS ROLLING OUT. MECHANIC IN . SAID IT WAS THE THIRD ONE TOO COME IN AND THE SECOND HAD BEEN IN ACCIDENT. SAID THEY DON'T MAKE THE SOFTWARE TOO FIX THIS PROBLEM. APPROXIMATELY 5,000 MILES. FORD MOTOR CREDIT TOOK TRUCK AFTER PAYING $38,000 ON IT AND ARE GOING TOO AUCTION IT OFF IN SPOKANE WASH. I AM REALLY CONCERNED FOR THE BUYER. *TR
3 TIMES IN THE LAST 6 MONTHS MY FORD F350 HAS SHUT DOWN WHILE I AM DRIVING, IT LOCKS ME OUT SO I CAN'T EVEN TURN THE ENGINE OVER AND I HAVE TO TRY TO COAST TO A SAFE PLACE OUT OF TRAFFIC. ALL 3 TIMES THE FUEL GAUGE READS OVER 50 MILES TO EMPTY, THE LAST TIME IT READ 140 MILES TO EMPTY. THE FUEL LINES ARE SUCKING IN AIR, I GET HIGH AND LOW PRESSURE CODES, I ADD MORE FUEL(DEISEL) AND THEN HAVE TO BLEED ALL OF THE LINES OF AIR AND PRIME THE PUMPS. I HAVE TO DO THIS ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD OR IN A PARKING LOT IF I AM FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO MAKE IT THAT FAR. I PULLED THE TANK AND PULLED THE FUEL SENDING UNIT OUT, UPON CLEANING OUT THE TANK FOUND A PLUNGER ROLLING AROUND. THIS PLUNGER GOES IN THE FUEL SENDING UNIT, CLOSING A VALVE THAT SUCKS FUEL IF THE MAIN SUCTION GETS CLOGGED. IT IS ABOUT 2 INCHES HIGHER THAN THE MAIN SUCTION. BECAUSE THE PLUNGER HAS FALLEN OUT, THIS IS WHERE IT IS SUCKING FUEL FROM, WHICH CAUSES IT TO SUCK AIR WHEN THERE IS IN FACT STILL FUEL IN THE TANK. I CALLED FORD SERVICE AND WAS TOLD THEY REPLACE THESE UNITS ALL OF THE TIME, IT IS A MANUFACTURERS DEFECT BUT NOT COVERED IF YOUR VEHICLE IS OUT OF THE 36K WARRANTY, WHEN THIS MOST COMMONLY HAPPENS. THE LAST TIME THIS HAPPENED A FRIEND PULLED MY TRUCK INTO A PARKING LOT,WHILE HE WAS PULLING ME IN, THERE WAS ANOTHER FORD TRUCK BEING PULLED IN AFTER RUNNING OUT OF FUEL WHILE THE GAUGE STILL READ 50 MILES TO EMPTY. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS WHEN IT HAPPENS ON THE INTERSTATE, YOU HAVE NO POWER STEERING AT THIS POINT AND CAN NOT EASILY HANDLE THE VEHICLE DUE TO THE WEIGHT OF THIS VEHICLE. MY WIFE WOULD NEVER BE ABLE TO HANDLE THE VEHICLE IF THIS HAPPENS. I WON'T LET HER DRIVE THE TRUCK DUE TO THIS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD F350 SUPER DUTY TRUCK PURCHASED NEW. HE STATED AFTER HAVING A REGULAR OIL CHANGE, HE NOTICED A LARGE OIL SPILLAGE COMING FROM UNDER THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER ADVISED REPLACING THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP. THE REPAIR CAUSED THE OIL TO LEAK WORSE. WITHIN JUST UNDER A YEAR OF THE INITIAL FAILURE, THE DEALER REPLACED THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP A SECOND TIME. SEVERAL MONTHS LATER, THE CONTACT BEGAN TO NOTICE THE OIL LEAK AGAIN. THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP WAS REPLACED A THIRD TIME. HE ALSO STATED THE BULBS IN THE EXTERIOR LIGHTING ELEMENTS, INCLUDING HEADLIGHTS, TAIL LIGHTS AND TURN SIGNALS CONTINUED TO BLOW. THE DEALER COULD NOT IDENTIFY THE REASON WHY THEY CONTINUED TO FAIL. WHILE AT A STOP, WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO GEARS PROPERLY. THE VEHICLE WOULD STAY IN HIGH GEAR AND WOULD NOT DOWN SHIFT PROPERLY. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. NO FURTHER REPAIRS WERE MADE TO DATE. THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON HIS VEHICLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE UNDER 28,000.

ON FEBRUARY 21, 2009, I PURCHASED A 2008 FORD F-350 FROM EL CAJON FORD. SINCE THAT TIME, I HAVE EXPERIENCED AT LEAST SIX INCIDENTS OF ACCIDENTALLY PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WHILE MY FOOT IS OPERATING THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE LATEST INCIDENT WAS ON 9/21/2009, AND OCCURRED WHILE BACKING THE TRUCK INTO A PARKING SPACE. I CAME EXTREMELY CLOSE TO HITTING A CONCRETE BLOCK WALL. THESE INCIDENTS ARE QUITE FRIGHTENING, AND I AM CONCERNED THAT IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY INJURED. THIS LATEST INCIDENT HAS LEFT ME SO STARTLED, THAT I AM AFRAID TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. I HAVE OWNED TWO OTHER FORD F-350 TRUCKS, A 1990 (9 YEARS), AND A 1999 (10 YEARS). IN THE 19 YEARS AND 350,000 MILES I DROVE THOSE TWO TRUCKS, I NEVER, EVER, HAD THIS OCCUR WITH EITHER VEHICLE. THERE IS OBVIOUSLY SOMETHING DIFFERENT ABOUT THE 2008. I BELIEVE THAT THE SEPARATION OF THE BRAKE AND GAS PEDALS IS INSUFFICIENT. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS ISSUE ON TWO FORD TRUCK INTERNET FORUMS, AND HAVE DISCOVERED THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY PERSON EXPERIENCING THIS ISSUE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD F-350 SD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH THERE WAS A LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL, WHICH CAUSED HIM TO CRASH INTO A DITCH. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND A TECHNICIAN CONCLUDED THAT THE GEAR BOX FAILED. THE GEAR BOX WAS REPLACED AT A REDUCED RATE OF $100.00; HOWEVER, THEY WOULD NOT ASSUME RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE COLLATERAL DAMAGE. THE FAILURE RESURFACED AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND HE IS AWAITING A RESPONSE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 11,190. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 60,200.
I HAVE TWO 2008 FORD F-350 SUPERDUTY 4X4 TRUCKS. ONE TRUCK HAS 39000 MILES AND THE OTHER 61000 MILES. AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, AFTER HITTING UNEVEN ROAD SURFACE OR BUMPS, THEY BEGIN TO SHIMMY AND SHAKE SO BAD THAT I HAVE TO PULL OVER TO GET IT TO QUIT I HAVE HAD THE TRUCKS IN NUMEROUS TIMES TO FIX BUT THE PROBLEM ALWAYS RETURNS. I RECEIVED NOTICE FROM FORD THAT LOW TIRE PRESSURE CAUSES THIS BUT I MAINTAIN CORRECT TIRE PRESSURE IN BOTH OF MY TRUCKS SO I KNOW THIS IS NOT THE PROBLEM. I HAVE BEEN RESEARCHING THIS ONLINE AND THERE IS A COMPANY CALLED WCMOTORSPORTS THAT CLAIMS TO KNOW WHY THESE TRUCKS ARE DOING THIS AND THE SOLUTION. THEIR WEBSITE IS WWW.SUPERDUTYWOBBLE.COM. THEIR PHONE NUMBER IS (508) 668-8638. THEY SEEM VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE ABOUT THIS ISSUE. THE PROBLEM IS THE REPLACEMENT PART TO FIX THIS IS $825. I FEEL THAT THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL ISSUE. AFTER LOOKING ONLINE, MANY PEOPLE HAVE THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE NOT MODIFIED THESE TRUCKS IN ANYWAY AND I FEEL THAT IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME UNTIL THIS CAUSES A FATALITY IF IT HASN'T ALREADY. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD F-350. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE ENGINE TEMPERATURE BEGAN TO RISE AND THE ENGINE POWER DECREASED. SEVERAL MONTHS PRIOR TO THE FAILURE, THE VEHICLE DISPLAYED THE SAME SYMPTOMS AND WAS SERVICED BY THE DEALER. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE HAS NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALER. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 70,000.
I WAS NOTIFIED BY FORD THAT MY 2008 F-350 6.4 DIESEL PICKUP HAD TWO RECALL NOTICES TO BE PERFORMED. ON 1.29.08 I TOOK THE TRUCK TO CAPISTRANO FORD AND THEY PERFORMED RECALL 08B06 AND RECALL 08B07. SINCE THEN THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION HAS NOT PERFORMED THE SAME. I PULL A FIFTH WHEEL TRAILER. THE DRY WEIGHT OF THE TRAILER IS ABOUT 9000LBS. WHEN GOING DOWNHILL THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION NO LONGER DOWNSHIFTS TO ASSIST IN BRAKING AND DOWNHILL SPEED CONTROL. THE TRANSMISSION IS EQUIPPED WITH A TOW/ HAUL SETTING ON THE END OF THE SHIFT LEVER. BEFORE THE RECALL THIS FEATURE WORKED GREAT. AS YOU START DOWN A HILL, TAKING YOUR FOOT OFF THE GAS THE TRUCK WILL COAST AND THEN BEGIN TO PICK UP SPEED. WHEN THE TRANSMISSION SENSED THE INCREASE IN SPEED WHILE COASTING, THE TRANSMISSION WOULD AUTOMATICALLY DOWNSHIFT. IT WOULD DO THIS AT ANY SPEED. AFTER THE RECALL, THE TRANSMISSION WILL NOT DOWNSHIFT UNTIL LONG AFTER IT HAS ANY AFFECT ON BRAKING OR SPEED CONTROL. WHILE BRAKING, SOMETIMES HARD IF IT IS A STEEP HILL, THE TRANSMISSION WILL DOWNSHIFT AND THE TRUCK WILL SHUTTER. IT IS A SHORT BURST THAT IS VERY NOTICEABLE AND OBVIOUSLY NOT NORMAL.THE SHUTTER NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE THE RECALL. I HAVE TAKEN IN BACK TO FORD TWICE AND THEY SAY THAT THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE (TCM) WAS REPROGRAMMED AS PART OF RECALL 08B07 BUT THEY CAN NOT CHANGE IT BACK TO THE ORIGINAL PROGRAM. IN SHORT, FORD WILL NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT THIS. THE OPERATIONAL SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE, WHILE TOWING LOADS THAT THE TRUCK IS DESIGNED TO TOW, HAS BEEN COMPROMISED. FORD SAYS THEY CAN NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. IS ANYONE ELSE HAVING THIS PROBLEM? ACCORDING TO FORD THIS COMPLAINT HAS NOT BEEN MADE. IF I'M THE ONLY ONE HAVING THE PROBLEM, THEN FORD SHOULD FIX MY TRUCK. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD F-350 SUPERDUTY. THE CONTACT NOTICED AN INTERMITTENT ISSUE WITH THE BRAKES. WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, THE ENGINE WOULD REV AND THE VEHICLE WOULD ACCELERATE. HER SPOUSE SHOVED THE GEAR INTO PARK TO STOP THE VEHICLE. ON THE SECOND OCCASION, HE KEPT HIS FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL UNTIL THE VEHICLE FINALLY STOPPED. THE DEALER BELIEVED THAT THE SPEED SENSORS CAUSED THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY BEING REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER HAS NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 2,100 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 800. UPDATED 06/24/09. *LJ UPDATED 06/30/09.*JB
OUR BUSINESS OWNS 4 FORD F-350 SUPER DUTY TRUCKS (2-2006 AND 2-2008). ALL OF THEM HAVE A VERY SERIOUS DEFECT THAT CAUSES WHAT OUR EMPLOYEES REFER TO AS THE "DEATH WOBBLE". AT ABOUT 55 MILES PER HOUR, THE FRONT END OF THE TRUCK EXPERIENCES A VIOLENT SHIMMY THAT HAS ALMOST CAUSED A NUMBER OF ACCIDENT. WE TOW LARGE TRAILERS (20'), LOADED WITH LARGE SPOOLS OF COAXIAL CABLE. THESE REELS AND THE TRAILER HAVE A COMBINED WAIT IN EXCESS OF 3000-4000 LBS., AND THE TRUCKS WEIGH APPROXIMATELY 6,000 LBS. WHEN YOU LOSE CONTROL OF THIS MUCH WEIGHT AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED. ALL FOUR TRUCKS HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM. FORD CLAIMS THAT IF YOU SLOW DOWN, IT WILL GO AWAY, BUT OFTEN THAT CREATES ANOTHER SAFETY HAZARD IN AND OF ITSELF, AND OFTEN YOU CANNOT SLOW DOWN FAST ENOUGH WITH A 4,000LB IN TOW. FORD NEEDS TO ISSUE A RECALL IMMEDIATELY TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM, INSTEAD OF FORCING CONSUMERS TO BEAR THE COST OF THEIR INEPT MANUFACTURING AND DESIGN. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD F-350 SUPERDUTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD SURGE INTERMITTENTLY. WHEN HE WOULD DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL IN AN ATTEMPT TO STOP THE VEHICLE, THE RPM'S WOULD REV UP TREMENDOUSLY AND THE VEHICLE WOULD SURGE LIKE A ROCKET. HE WOULD HAVE TO KEEP THE BRAKE PEDAL DEPRESSED WHILE THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO "CRAWL" AND HE WAS ABLE TO TURN OFF THE IGNITION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE ONLY SEEMED TO OCCUR WHEN COMING TO A STOP. HE NOTIFIED THE DEALER OF THE ISSUE AND HAD THE VEHICLE INSPECTED; HOWEVER, THEY FOUND NO FAILURES AND STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS AVAILABLE. A COMPLAINT WAS FILED WITH THE MANUFACTURER. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 25,500 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 24,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD F-350 SD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE WOULD SHIMMY AND SHAKE WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS, BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. HE FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE MANUFACTURER, BUT HAS YET TO RECEIVE ANY FEEDBACK.
