REDUCED POWER/TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON SUDDENLY AND REDUCED CAR POWER IMMEDIATELY. THIS MADE FOR A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION WHILE PASSING A TRUCK AND ENTERING THE HIGHWAY. THE CAR DROPPED SPEED VERY QUICKLY MAKING FOR A POTENTIALLY DEADLY SITUATION. THIS PROBLEM COMES AND GOES WITH NO WARNING UNTIL IT HAPPENS. RESEARCH SHOWS THIS IS A BIG PROBLEM FOR GM VEHICLES ESPECIALLY THE 2009 BUICK LACROSS MODELS. IT'S A DISASTER WAITING TO HAPPEN IF IT HASN'T HAPPENED ALREADY. THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED ASAP.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 BUICK LACROSSE. WHEN THE CONTACT STARTED THE VEHICLE, THE CHECK ENGINE AND SERVICE TRAC SYSTEM WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. ALSO, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT EXCEED 15 TO 20 MPH WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STARTED AN INVESTIGATION. THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE CONTACT TO CALL NHTSA TO FILE A COMPLAINT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 99,000.
WAS DRIVING DOWN ROAD GOT TO MY DESTINATION PARKED IT AND WHEN I CAME OUT IT WOULD NOT START FOUND A BURNT FUEL PUMP RELAY CHANGED IT AND DROVE IT HOME. 20 MIN LATER I DROVE IT AGAIN AND MADE IT 2 MILES SAME THING HAPPENED TO RELAY ONLY WHEN I WAS DRIVING IT.
TAKATA RECALL.. ALL OF MY WARNING DASH LIGHTS ARE ON AT TIMES OR THE WHOLE DASH, RADIO AND EVERYTHING GO OUT THEN COMES BACK, THE IGNITION HAS BEEN PAUSING BEFORE IT TURNS OVER, THE FRONT END OF THE CAR RATTLES, ABS, T/C AND AIR BAGS WARNING LIGHTS ARE ALMOST ALWAYS ON.. I HAVE REPLACED 1000.00S OF DOLLARS TO FIX THE PROBLEM AND NOTHING CHANGES. I HAVE REPLACED THE WHEEL HUBS, IGNITION MODULE, THE 700.00 PART FOR THE ECBM, NOTHING CHANGES, I BELIEVE ITS AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM THAT NO ONE HAS BEEN TO FIND. IT DOESNT MATTER IF THE CAR IS STATIONARY, IN MOTION OR WHERE I AM DRIVING. I NEED HELP WITH MY CAR, PLEASE. I DONT HAVE PICTURES , CAN YOU PLEASE HELP ME
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 BUICK LACROSSE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE THROTTLE BEGAN TO FAIL. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED BEFORE OR AFTER THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 92,648.
ABOU 50,XXX MILES THE SERVICE AIRBAG LIGHT IN THE DASH BEGAN TO ILLUMINATE INTERMITTENTLY. IT WOULD OCCUR ONCE A MONTH OR SO. THE DEALER WANTED $1200 TO REPLACE THE AB CONTROL MODULE. FOR THE NEXT 46,XXX MILES IT HAS BEEN THAT WAY UNTIL A FEW DAYS AGO. NOW THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON CONTINUALLY, MEANING THE AIRBAGS ARE INOPERATIVE. SEEMS LIKE A SAFETY ISSUE TO ME!
AT 80XXX MILES THE DRIVERS FRONT DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR BECAME INOPERATIVE. AT 90XXX MILES THE PASSENGER FRONT DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR BECAME INOPERATIVE. AT 96XXX MILES THE PASSENGER REAR DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR BECAME INOPERATIVE. EACH RUNS $250-300 TO REPAIR. NOT REPAIRING LEAVES THE DOOR UNLOCKED (WHILE DRIVING) OR UNLOCKED (WHILE PARKED AND VEHICLE BECOMES ACCESSIBLE TO ANYONE) OR THE DOOR REMAINS LOCKED WHEN TRYING TO EXIT OR ENTER. IN AN EMERGENCY, THIS MAY CAUSE PROBLEMS. SEARCHING THE INTERNET, THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ON THE LACROSSE.
THE AIR BAG MALFUNCTION WARNING LIGHT BLINKS AND THEN REMAINS ON WHEN THE IGNITION IS TURNED ON AND WHEN DRIVING REGARDLESS OF SPEED. THIS CONDITION HAS RESULTED IN THE REPLACING OF THE RELEVANT PART TWICE SINCE I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN 2009 ONCE UNDER WARRANTY AND ONCE OUT OF WARRANTY. THIS RECURRING PROBLEM COMPROMISES THE OPERATION OF THE AIR BAGS IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT. THE AIR BAGS IN THIS VEHICLE HAVE NEVER BEEN DEPLOYED SINCE IT HAS BEEN ACCIDENT FREE SINCE PURCHASED NEW.
ORIGINAL PURCHASER OF VEHICLE WITH UNDER 120,000 MILES AND HAVE A "REDUCED POWER / ACCELERATOR PEDAL POSITION SENSOR" PROBLEM AS RECALLED BY GM FOR SOME MAKE AND MODELS AS SAME, BUT NOT MINE AS IT DID NOT MANUFACTURED AT SAME PLANT AS OTHERS (AS I WAS TOLD)? I'M FINDING IT COINCIDENTAL THAT I WOULD HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM?
THE SENSOR FOR THE PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSOCIATED WITH THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT WORKS ERRATICALLY, AND GENERALLY DOES NOT ENABLE THE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG WHEN A PASSENGER IS IN THE SEAT. THIS OCCURS WITH A FULL SIZE ADULT IN THE SEAT. THIS CONDITION SEEMS TO OCCUR REGARDLESS OF IDLING OR DRIVING CONDITIONS. IT GENERALLY REPORTS THROUGH INDICATORS THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG IS TURNED OFF AND THE AIRBAG READINESS INDICATOR IS LIT TO INDICATE A PROBLEM. *TR
MY 2009 LACROSSE WILL INTERMITTENTLY DISPLAY THE AIR BAG INDICATOR. I NOTICED THIS WHILE DRIVING THE CAR AROUND TOWN AND THERE IS NO PASSENGER IN THE FRONT SEAT. IT WILL EITHER STAY ON FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS AND THEN DISAPPEAR OR WILL JUST BE ON FOR SHORT PERIODS OF TIME. WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER THEY STATED IT WAS A SENSOR MODULE AND WOULD BE APPROXIMATELY $1300 TO REPLACE. AS OF THIS DATE, I HAVE NOT HAD IT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS APPROXIMATELY 24,000 MILES. I CHECKED TO SEE IF THERE MIGHT BE ANY RECALLS FOR THIS ISSUE AND THERE WERE NONE. BUT IN CHECKING ONLINE, THIS APPEARS TO BE AN ISSUE WITH MANY BUICKS ESPECIALLY THE 2008. TO ME THIS APPEARS TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED.
SEATBELT LIGHT CAME ON DASH ON; NO AIRBAG LIGHT ALSO ON FOR PASSENGER SIDE. FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED SOMEONE EXITED PASSENGER SEAT WHILE CAR WAS IN PARK. INTERMITTENT CHIME WHETHER SEAT BELT WAS IN USE OR NOT; WHETHER SOMEONE WAS IN PASSENGER SEAT OR NOT. THAT HAS SINCE CEASED TO HAPPEN. DEALER STATES DASH LIGHT ON ALSO MEANS NO AIRBAG FOR DRIVER SIDE. FIX IS OVER $1500. HAVE READ MANY OTHER SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ALL OVER AMERICA WITH OTHER BUICK VEHICLES AND YEARS. HOW IS THIS NOT A RECALL/SAFETY ISSUE?
WHILE ENTERING INTERSTATE OFF RAMP I STARTED SLOWING DOWN AND VEHICLE ACCELERATED TO A VERY HIGH SPEED. WITH EXTREME BRAKE PEDAL PRESSURE WAS NOT ABLE TO SLOW VEHICLE DOWN FOR APPROXIMATELY 100 YARDS. I HAD TO CHANGE 3 LANES TO AVOID COLLIONS WITH VEHICLES IN FRONT.
WHILE ENTERING A PARKING LOT AT APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AT VERY HIGH RPMS AND JUMPED THE CURB HITTING A TREE, EXTREME PRESSURE ON BRAKE PEDAL WOULD NOT STOP VEHICLE.. THIS WAS THE SECOND TIME IN 2 DAYS THIS PROBLEM OCCURRED..

MY MOTHERS AUTOMATIC LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS WILL INTERMITTENTLY FUNCTION. MY MOTHER IS 85 YEARS OLD AND THIS IS A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS CONDITION FOR HER. SHE IS NOT AS ATTENTIVE AS SHE WAS WHEN SHE WAS YOUNGER AND SHE DOES NOT NOTICE THAT THE LIGHTS ARE NOT SHINING UNTIL SHE GETS IN A RURAL AREA AND REALIZES THAT SHE CANNOT SEE. THIS CAN CAUSE HER TO GET A LITTLE ANXIOUS AND CONFUSED UNTIL SHE STOPS TO TURN ON THE HEADLIGHTS MANUALLY. THIS CONDITION WAS BROUGHT TO THE ATTENTION OF A CHEVROLET DEALER AND SHE WAS TOLD THAT THE PART THAT WAS NEEDED TO FIX THIS PROBLEM FOR A POTENTIAL 269,586 VEHICLES WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THIS IS RIDICULOUS! A TEMPORY REPLACEMENT PART WAS INSTALLED ON 7/29/15. THE RECALL BULLITEN STATES THAT ONLY THE LOW BEAM LIGHTS ARE AFFECTED. THIS IS NOT CORRECT WITH THIS VEHICLE. ON MY MOTHERS VEHICLE THE HIGH BEAM AND LOW BEAM LIGHTS MAY OR MAY NOT WORK ON THE AUTOMATIC SETTING. THE VEHICLE DOES NOT HAVE TO BE HOT. THIS CONDITION IS STILL PRESENT ON A COLD OR HOT VEHICLE SINCE THE TEMPORARY PART WAS INSTALLED! THE DASH INDICATOR LIGHTS DO NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY ALSO. THE LOCAL DEALER HAS BEEN VERY NICE AND HAS DONE EVERYTHING THAT GM HAS TOLD THEM TO DO. GM HAS APPARENTLY NOT LEARNED IT'S LESSON OVER THE KEY SWITCH RECALL AND GM DOES NOT SEEM TOO CONCERNED OVER THIS PROBLEM. GM'S RESPONSE TO THIS RECALL IS IRRESPONSIBLE AND UNACCEPTABLE. IF GM KNEW JUST HOW UPSET MY MOTHER WAS ABOUT THIS MALFUNCTION THEY MIGHT BE MORE CONCERNED. MY MOTHER HAS ONLY BEEN TRYING FOR TEN MONTHS TO GET THE HEADLIGHTS REPAIRED. I CAN ONLY ASSUME THAT GM MUST SEE THIS MALFUNCTION AS AN UNIMPORTANT ISSUE!
WAS GOING DOWN HIGHWAY AT NIGHT AND MY HEADLIGHTS SUDDENLY WENT OFF ,I HAD TO DRIVE ABOUT 4 MILES WITH NO HEADLIGHTS AND BLINKERS FLASHING. AS I PULLED INTO MY STOP AND PUT CAR IN PARK ,LIGHTS CAME BACK ON. I DROVE BACK HOME NO PROBLEM . CALLED DEALER ON MONDAY THEY MADE AN APPT. FOR ME ON WEDNESDAY MAY 6,2015 AND THEY REPLACED HEADLIGHT INTERNAL SWITCH AND CHARGED ME 121.69+ TAX ALSO SAID BATTERY WAS TESTING BAD SO ANOTHER 99.95+ TAX .NOW SINCE I DON'T DRIVE MUCH AND ESPECIALLY NOT AT NIGHT IT WAS A WHILE LONGER ,BUT IN JULY I EXPERIENCED IT AGAIN SAME THING ,EXCEPT THIS TIME I PULLED OFF HIGHWAY AND WAS MESSING WITH LIGHT SWITCH AND FIGURED OUT I COULD TURN SWITCH FROM AUTO ON TO MANUAL ON AND MY BRIGHT LIGHTS WOULD WORK. I TRIED GETTING IT FIXED BUT THIS TIME L&M MOTORS SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG BUT IF I HAD THE PROBLEM AGAIN TO SWING BY AND LET THEM SEE. WELL SINCE IN THE DAYTIME YOU WOULDN'T KNOW THIS ,AND THEY ARE CLOSED AT 5PM BEFORE DARK ,NOT MUCH OF A CHANCE ,RIGHT?? SO ANY WAY I FOUND OUT THERE IS A PENDING RECALL, SO HOW DO I DRIVE AT NIGHT??? UNTIL IT CAN BE FIXED .
THE AIR BAG LIGHT COMES ON INTERMITTENTLY. I TOOK IT IN FOR SERVICE, AND WAS TOLD IT WOULD BE $1300 TO REPLACE THE PASSENGER PRESENCE MODULE. I'VE SEEN OTHER COMPLAINTS ONLINE REGARDING THIS SAME ITEM. I'VE ALSO HAD ISSUES WITH THE AUTOMATIC LOCKS. IT INITIALLY STARTED WITH THE PASSENGER FRONT DOOR, AND HAS NOW PROGRESSED TO ALL THE DOORS. THE PRICE I WAS GIVEN TO REPAIR THIS WAS $1600. AGAIN, I'VE SEEN NUMEROUS ONLINE COMPLAINTS CONCERNING THIS ITEM. THIS IS MY 3RD BUICK, AND I DO NOT INTEND TO BUY ANOTHER ONE. IT SEEMS ONCE THE WARRANTY EXPIRES, SEVERAL COSTLY REPAIRS ARE INCURRED.
IN JANUARY OF 2015 THE ELECTRONIC DOOR LOCK SYSTEM BEGAN TO MALFUNCTION. THE REMOTE FIRST FAILED TO CONTROL THE RIGHT REAR DOOR. THEN THE MALFUNCTION SPREAD TO THE LEFT FRONT DOOR LOCK. THE SITUATION BECAME WORSE UNTIL THE ENTIRE LOCKING SYSTEM COULD ONLY BE CONTROLLED MANUALLY. EVEN THEN THE PHYSICAL KEY CONTROL FREQUENTLY MALFUNCTIONED. SAFETY HAZARDS WERE CREATED INCLUDING LOCKING THE KEYS INSIDE AN UNOCCUPIED RUNNING VEHILE, BEING TOTALLY UNABLE TO UNLOCK THE VEHICLE, AND GENERALLY INCONSISTENT ABILITY TOO MAINTAIN CONTROL OVER THE VEHICLES LOCKING STATUS. APPROXIMATELY $1,000 DOLLARS HAVE BEEN SPENT USING GENUINE GMC PARTS TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. IT IS STILL UNSTABLE AND IN A DETERIORATED CONDITION.
I AM A USED CAR DEALER AND SELL A LOT OF BUICK LACROSSES AND HAVE SEEN AT LEAST 7 BAD PASS. SEAT SWITCHES IN THE SEAT VERY EXPENSIVE TO FIX AND SHOULD BE RECALLED BY GM,THIS WILL TURN THE AIR BAG LIGHT ON
LOSS OF LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS
I WAS DRIVING ON PARKWAY IN NASSAU COUNTY AT 11:30 AM ON 7/2/15 ON A SUNNY DAY AND THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS STARTED GOING UP AND DOWN SLOWLY, I HAD NOT PUT THEM ON. WHILE DRIVING I TRIED TO STOP THE WIPERS TO NO AVAIL. THE COMPUTER ON DASHBOARD STATED 'OPEN HOOD' BUT AS I WAS DRIVING THE HOOD WAS DEFINITELY NOT OPEN. I LATER REALIZED THE COMPUTER WAS SAYING... OPEN THE HOOD. A FEW MOMENTS LATER I SAW SMOKE COMING OUT OF THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE HOOD AND THE COMPUTER SAID SOMETHING LIKE 'SYSTEM FAILURE'. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER, TURNED OFF THE CAR AND TOOK THE KEYS. THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WERE STILL MOVING EVEN THOUGH THE CAR WAS OFF AND KEYS WERE OUT OF THE IGNITION. A VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTER FROM LOCAL AREA SAW MY CAR, PULLED OVER, OPENED THE HOOD AND USED AN EXTINGUISHER ON THE FUSE BOX WHICH WAS SMOKING BADLY ALTHOUGH WE DIDN'T SEE FLAMES. HE DISCONNECTED THE CABLES ON THE FUSE BOX, LOCAL FIRE DEPARTMENT AND NY STATE TROOPER ARRIVED. MY CAR WAS TOWED TO MY MECHANICS GARAGE. WE HAVE SINCE FOUND OUT THAT THE FUSE BOX WAS DISTROYED WITH MOST DAMAGE TO THE HDM RELAY AS POSITION #35 IS SEVERELY DAMAGED. I BELIEVE THIS IS ALSO NEXT TO THE WINDSHIELD WIPER RELAY WHICH IS WHY THEY WENT ON. ALSO 3 MAJOR WIRING HARNESSES WERE MELTED AND DESTROYED. WE DON'T KNOW IF THE COMPUTER OR ANY OTHER FEATURE UNDER THE HOOD IS AFFECTED AT THIS TIME. THE DAMAGE AT THIS POINT IS ESTIMATED TO BE $4,000 IN PARTS AND LABOR NOT INCLUDING POSSIBLE COMPUTER DAMAGE. I HAVE SEEN ON THE INTERNET THAT MY CAR IS INCLUDED IN RECALL N140291 LOSS OF LOW BEAM HDM DATED 11/25/14 BUT THAT GM 'WILL' PROVIDE A PLAN FOR REMEDYING THE DEFECT. ALSO ON THE INTERNET IS HAS BEEN REPORTED BY MANY PEOPLE THAT THEY HAD SIMILAR ISSUES WITH FIRE STARTING IN THE FUSE BOX IN HDM POSITION #35. THIS IS A SERIOUS SITUATION THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AND RESOLVED NOW BY GM BEFORE SOMEONE IS HURT IN A FIRE. UPDATED 06/08/16*LJ *CN

I WISH TO FORMALLY COMPLAINT THAT BUICK HAS BEEN REMISS IN ITS SERVICE TO ITS CUSTOMERS. AFTER A SIMPLE GOOGLE SEARCH I FOUND THAT THE PROBLEM OF MALFUNCTIONING PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG MODULE (PASSENGER PRESENCE IS NOT DETECTED WHEN THE PASSENGER IS IN THE SEAT AND SHOWS MALFUNCTION ON THE DASHBOARD) IS PRETTY COMMON WITH THIS VEHICLE. I AM VERY SURPRISED BUICK IS NOT AWARE OF THIS SERIOUS FLAW AND DID NOTHING TO RECTIFY IT. INSTEAD THE CUSTOMER IS BESET WITH HIGH REPAIR COSTS EACH TIME THIS MODULE FAILS DUE TO DESIGN FLAW THAN DUE TO NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR.

DRIVING HOME AT 11PM IN THE DARK AND LOST HEADLIGHTS COMPLETELY FIRST TIME IN SEPT 2014 THEN AGAIN IN OCTOBER 2014 AND MOST RECENTLY 3 TIMES IN MAY 2015 ALL 3 TIMES I WAS DRIVING 55 MPH IN THE DARK AND LAST ONE WAS IN POURING RAIN.. LUCKILY THERE WERE STREET LIGHTS EACH TIME ..I PULLED OVER QUICKLY ,BLINDLY AS THE DASH LIGHTS WENT OUT, TOO, SO I COULDN'T SEE WHERE THE 4 WAY FLASHERS WERE TO TURN THEM ON ..I GOT OUT AND LOOKED GOT BACK IN SHUT CAR OFF STARTED IT BACK UP AND THE HEADLIGHTS CAME BACK ON ..THE MOST RECENT TIME AND THE FIRST TIME I HAD NO HIGH BEAMS EITHER ..LITERALLY NO LIGHTS FOR 30 SECONDS TO 3 MINUTES .. HAD THERE BEEN TRAFFIC I MAY HAVE BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT OR IF NOT FOR STREETLIGHT IN POURING RAIN I WOULD HAVE ENDED UP IN A DITCH OR WORSE .. THERE IS A RECALL ON LOWBEAMS BUT DEALER WOULDN'T FIX IT BECAUSE GM IS DRAGGING THEIR FEET ABOUT THE PROBLEM..SO I TOOK IT ON MY OWN TO ORDER A RELAY REPLACEMENT PART ONLINE HEADLIGHT MODULE TODAY TO SEE IF THAT FIXES THE PROBLEM UNTIL GM DECIDES TO ISSUE THE RECALL GUIDELINES TO THE DEALERS ... ..I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT THEY ARE WAITING FOR .. THIS IS A VERY SCARY SITUATION I DON'T DRIVE AFTER DARK AND WE CANT AFFORD TO BUY ANOTHER VEHICLE AS MY HUSBAND IS RETIRED AND DISABLED . *TR
DASH LIGHTS FADE IN AND OUT WHILE DRIVING. NOTHING SEEMS TO CAUSE IT THEY JUST GO OUT MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE THE SPEED, READ THE ONSTAR DIRECTIONS OR SEE THE MILEAGE. SOMETIMES MILEAGE ONLY WILL SHOW, SOMETIMES MILEAGE ONLY DOES NOT SHOW. BIGGEST PROBLEM IS THAT THE SPEEDOMETER DOES NOT SHOW. THIS IS AN ON GOING PROBLEM. IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO SAFELY DRIVE THIS CAR AT NIGHT. ON OCCASION THERE ARE NO DISPLAY LIGHTS OF ANY TYPE SHOWING IN THE CAR - THE CAR IS IN TOTAL DARKNESS INSIDE. THE PROBLEM DOES OCCUR DURING THE DAYTIME AS WELL BUT IF THE SUN IS OUT IT IS NOT SUCH A BIG PROBLEM. I HAVE TALKED TO FRIENDS WHO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THEIR VEHICLES. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BUT I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO GET GM OR MY CAR DEALERSHIP TO ACKNOWLEDGE THIS PROBLEM EXISTS. I AM UNABLE TO DRIVE MY CAR AT NIGHT OR WHEN THERE IS A RAINSTORM BECAUSE I PANIC WHEN I HAVE NO INTERNAL LIGHTS OR CAN SEE THE SPEED I AM TRAVELING AT. TURNING ON MY HEADLIGHTS MANUALLY DOES NOT SOLVE THIS PROBLEM.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AT 9:33PM I NOTICED MY AUTOMATIC HEADLIGHTS HAD SWITCHED OFF, AFTER NOTICING OTHER DRIVERS FLASHING THEIR HEADLIGHTS TO WARN ME, I HAD TO USE MY HIGH BEAMS TO DRIVE.

WE HAVE EXPERIENCED MULTIPLE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WITH OUR 2009 BUICK LACROSSE. IT FIRST APPEARED AS A BAD BATTERY WHICH WAS REPLACED. USING THE IN-CAR DIGITAL READOUT, WE BEGAN TO SEE STRANGE VOLTAGE READINGS IN THE CAR. THE VOLTAGE WOULD SOME TIMES READ AS LOW AS 12.6 VOLTS AND THEN WOULD START A STEADY CLIMB UP TO 14.4 VOLTS. IT MIGHT STAY THAT WAY FOR HOURS OR MIGHT SLOWLY DROP TO THE LOW LEVEL. AT THE LOW LEVEL, WE HAVE NOTICED THAT MULTIPLE ITEMS LIKE THE SPEED CONTROL AND THE AIR CONDITIONING WOULD NOT WORK UNTIL THE VOLTAGE WAS AT THE HIGH LEVEL. WE HAVE HAD AN EPISODE WHERE THE LOW BEAM WOULD NOT OPERATE UNTIL I SWITCHED THE HIGH BEAM ON AND THEM SWITCHED TO LOW BEAM. WE HAVE RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTICED ON THAT ITEM. OTHER STRANGE THINGS ARE HAPPENING LIKE THE RADIO CHANGING STATIONS ON ITS OWN. THE PASSENGER SEAT INDICATOR READS FALSE AT TIMES WHEN TRAVELING. THE AIR BAG INDICATOR LIGHT READS OFF AND THE SEAT BELT INDICATOR READ UNLATCHED. AS WE CONTINUE TRAVELING, THE INDICATORS GO BACK TO THEIR NORMAL INDICATIONS. *TR

I WAS DRIVING TO WORK USING MY NORMAL DRIVING ROUTE IN THE MORNING ABOUT SIX AM . THE CONDITIONS WERE DRY AND CLEAR. THIS ROUTE HAS NO SERIOUS ROAD HAZARDS AND IS APPROXIMATELY 13.5 MILES IN DISTANCE. I ROLLED UP TO A TRAFFIC LIGHT TO MAKE A LEFT TURN. UPON WAITING FOR THE LEFT TURN ARROW TO COME ON THE CAR STOPPED RUNNING. THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN .... NONE OF THE LIGHTS ON THE CAR WOULD WORK AND IT WOULD NOT RESTART. I PUSHED THE CAR MY SELF INTO A GAS STATION ENTRANCE WITH SOME DIFFICULTY I WILL SAY. I AM A BIG PERSON SO IT WAS NOT THAT HARD TO ROLL THIS CAR A FEW FEET. I REMOVED THE KEY AND GOT OUT AND OPENED THE HOOD TO CHECK THE BATTERY CONNECTIONS. THEY WERE CONNECTED AND TIGHT. I SHUT THE HOOD THINKING TO MYSELF WHAT I SHOULD DO? SO I TRIED TO START THE CAR WITH THE AUTOMATIC KEY FOB START SEQUENCE. TO MY SURPRISE IT STARTED!! ALL LIGHTS AND GAUGES WERE WORKING. I PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE TO COMPLETE MY DRIVE TO WORK. I HAD ABOUT 1 MILE TO GO. AS I DROVE AWAY THE HEAD LAMPS SHUT DOWN. ALONG WITH THE TURN SIGNALS AND POSSIBLY THE BRAKE LIGHTS. I ARRIVED AT WORK AND PARKED LEAVING THE CAR RUNNING. I ATTEMPTED TO USE THE SWITCHES TO TURN THE HEAD LIGHTS ON BUT HAD NO SUCCESS . NO LIGHTS AT ALL NO GAUGES AT ALL. LATER THAT DAY I WAS LEAVING WORK AND EVERYTHING OPERATED ON MY DRIVE HOME. SAFE TO SAY I AM A BIT PISSED OFF. I WAS ASSURED THAT THIS CAR WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL BY MY DEALER O'REILLY BUICK OF NEWTOWN SQUARE PA. WHEN I PURCHASED THIS CAR IT WAS LISTED AS 'GM CERTIFIED USED CAR'. LOOKS LIKE AFTER I AM DONE WITH THIS REPAIR, THIS CAR IS GOING TO BE TRADED IN. THE OWNER HAD BEEN SMELLING A BAD ODOR WHEN SHE ARRIVED AT HER DESTINATION IN A MALL PARKING LOT. THE ODOR DID NOT FADE WHEN THE VEHICLE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF AND SUBSEQUENTLY OPENED THE HOOD. BLACK SMOKE WAS SEEN COMING FROM THE FUSE BLOCK. UPON REMOVING THE COVER TO THE FUSE BLOCK, THE OWNER OBSERVED A SMALL FIRE WHICH CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE WIRING HARNESS. THE VEHICLE WAS LATER EXAMINED BY AN INDEPENDENT ENGINEERING CONSULTANT WHO IDENTIFIED THE ORIGIN OF THE FIRE. THE ORIGIN WAS PLACED AT THE # 35 POSITION IN THE FUSE BLOCK WHICH WAS OCCUPIED BY THE HDM MODULE. IT WAS LATER LEARNED FROM THE OWNER THAT AN UNEXPLAINED HEADLIGHT OUTAGE HAD OCCURRED SOMETIME PRIOR TO THE FIRE AND THAT TURNING OFF THE ENGINE AND RESTARTING THE VEHICLE CAUSED THE HEADLIGHTS TO COME ON AGAIN. THE EVENT NEVER OCCURRED AGAIN. IT WAS FURTHER DETERMINED THAT THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL INSTANCES OF HIGHLIGHT FAILURE THAT HAVE BEEN REPORTED TO NHTSA AND ARE AVAILABLE IN THE "COMPLAINTS" SECTION OF A SEARCH FOR RECALLS OF THIS VEHICLE. *TR
MULTIPLE TIMES SINCE PURCHASE AIR BAG INDICATOR HAS EITHER BLINKED, HAS BEEN CONSTANTLY ON OR HASN'T BEEN ON AT ALL. INSTRUMENT PANEL DISPLAY, IE: MILEAGE INDICATOR, TEMPERATURE DISPLAY, TRIP INDICATOR HASN'T WORKED ON OCCASION, RADIO AND/OR INTERIOR TEMPERATURE DISPLAY DOESN'T COME ON UNTIL YOU DRIVE FOR FIVE TO FORTY FIVE MINUTES. DOOR LOCKS HAVE ACTUATED EITHER UP OR DOWN WHILE DRIVING. REMOTE DOOR LOCKS EITHER DON'T WORK AT ALL OR ONE OR MORE DOES, ONE OR MORE DOESN'T WORK, WHEN MANUALLY USING A KEY SECURITY SYSTEM HAS ACTIVATED THUS SOUNDING THE HORN. MANY OF THESE ITEMS HAVE BEEN DISCUSSED WITH MY DEALER AND WE WERE TOLD BY THEM THAT GM IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT THERE ISN'T A FIX AT THIS TIME. *TR
MY 2009 BUICK LACROSSE CX AT 23,129 MILES HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG LIGHT BLINKING FROM OFF TO ON, IT ALSO HAD THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG ICON ON THE DRIVERS SIDE DASH. IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY SO THE PPS MODULE WAS REPLACED, THEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN IN APRIL 2014 WITH UNDER 34,000 MILES. AGAIN THE PPS MODULE WAS REPLACED. COUNTING THE PPS MODULE THAT CAME IN THE CAR WHEN IT WAS NEW THAT BURNED OUT, THE ONE THAT REPLACED THAT BURNED OUT , IT NOW HAS IT'S 3 RD. PPS MODULE. I BELIEVE IT IS CAUSED BY THE AFTER MARKET LEATHER SEAT COVERS THAT WERE PUT ON AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE, ESPECIALLY SINCE THERE WERE RECALLS IN THE PAST FOR THAT VERY PROBLEM. I HAVE ASK GM TO BUY BACK THE SEAT COVERS BUT, THEY SEEM TO BE IGNORING ME. IT SEEMS NO ONE ELSE IN THE COUNTRY IS HAVING THIS PROBLEM. *TR
THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE FIRST TIME THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, I DON'T RECALL THE MESSAGE I ACTUALLY GOT; BUT I TOOK IT TO A DEALERSHIP AND THEY REPLACED AN EMISSION CONTROL ITEM WHICH SEEMED TO DO THE TRICK FOR AWHILE. EVENTUALLY, AS I WAS DRIVING ALONG SOME TIME LATER, THE MESSAGE "REDUCED ENGINE POWER" CAME UP; AND I COULD FEEL THE ENGINE IMMEDIATELY START TO DRAG. IN ABOUT 30 SECONDS TO A MINUTE, "TRACTION CONTROL OFF" OR SOMETHING SIMILAR COMES UP. I STOPPED TO LOOK AT THE MANUAL WHICH SAID TO SHUT THE ENGINE OFF, WAIT A FEW MINUTES, THEN START THE CAR AND THIS WOULD CLEAR THE CODE SO THAT THE CAR WOULD RUN NORMALLY. I DID THIS, AND I SAW THAT THE CAR WAS OPERATING MORE NORMALLY BUT THE "CHECK ENGINE LIGHT" STAYED ON. AFTER SEVERAL STOPS AND STARTS, THE LIGHT WENT OFF. THIS HAS HAPPENED MORE TIMES THAN I CAN COUNT. ON 6/3, I TOOK IT TO A DEALERSHIP BECAUSE IT SEEMED TO BE HAPPENING MORE FREQUENTLY. THE ONLY THING THEY COULD FIND THAT MIGHT BE CAUSING IT DID NOT SEEM TO BE THE PROBLEM, BUT THEY WORKED ON THE X101 CONNECTOR AND TEST DROVE IT 16 MILES W/O A PROBLEM. TWO DAYS LATER WHILE DRIVING TO WORK (AFTER DRIVING ABOUT 20 MIN.), THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN. ANOTHER GARAGE WHERE I HAD MY OIL CHANGED RAN THE CODES AND FOUND THAT P1125 - FUEL & AIR METERING AND P2138 THROTTLE/PEDAL POSITION WERE LISTED. I GAVE THIS INFO TO THE BUICK DEALER TO SEE IF THE PROBLEM COULD BE FIXED. THE CAR IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY EXCEPT FOR EMISSION CONTROLS, SO I PAID FOR THE WORK. THEY WERE NOT SURE THAT THE PROBLEM WAS REPAIRED. IT TURNED OUT THAT IT WASN'T. NOW, WHAT? DO I JUST KEEP TAKING IT BACK AND PAYING FOR THINGS TO BE TRIED? *TR

I HAVE ONLY HAD THIS CAR 5 MONTHS AND I BOUGHT IT AT 55K MILES. WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 11:00PM ON A RAINY NIGHT I WAS STOPPED BY A STATE TROOPER WHO SAID MY HEADLIGHTS SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. THE GOOD PART IS- THE TROOPER ACTUALLY SAW MY HEADLIGHTS WERE ORIGINALLY ON BUT HE STATED THAT AS I APPROACHED HIM "THEY JUST WENT OFF". HE PULLED ME OVER JUST TO MAKE SURE I WAS OK, BUT HE SAID THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND I COULD CAUSE A COLLISION WHILE DRIVING WITHOUT HEADLIGHTS. FUNNY THING IS, THE HIGH BEAM LIGHTS WORKED JUST FINE, BUT THE LOW BEAM -REGULAR HEADLIGHTS WOULD NOT COME ON AT ALL. THEN, IRONICALLY, WHILE HE WAS RUNNING MY DRIVERS LICENSE,MY HEADLIGHTS POPPED BACK ON. THIS IS VERY SCARY. THIS INCIDENT HAS HAPPENED TO ME MULTIPLE TIMES WHILE DRIVING THIS CAR AT NIGHT, AND MOST RECENTLY ON A CLEAR SUMMER NIGHT, I WAS ON A HIGHWAY WHICH HAD NO STREET LAMPS AND ONCE AGAIN, THE LOW BEAM HEADLAMPS COMPLETELY SHUT OFF, LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO NOTICE IT SINCE I WAS THE ONLY CAR ON THE HIGHWAY AND THAT WAS MY ONLY LIGHT, SO I IMMEDIATELY CUT MY HIGH BEAM LIGHTS ON, BUT AGAIN, THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM. THE BRIGHT LAMPS WORKED PROPERLY, BUT MY REGULAR HEADLAMPS WOULD NOT CUT ON AT ALL. I PULLED INTO A GAS STATION AND AFTER ABOUT 20-30 MINUTES, THE HEADLIGHTS EVENTUALLY TURNED BACK ON WITHOUT ME DOING ANYTHING. AS OF TODAY, I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS CAR AT NIGHT UNLESS I HAVE THE HIGH BEAM LIGHTS ON BECAUSE I NEVER KNOW WHEN THEY ARE GOING TO CUT OFF. THE PROBLEM IS I DISTRACT OTHER DRIVERS WITH MY HIGH BEAM HEADLIGHTS SO IT CAUSES ANOTHER SAFETY ISSUE. I HAVE GOOGLED THIS ISSUE AND FOUND THAT MANY OTHER PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME ISSUE WITH THEIR BUICK LACROSSE, I AM CONCERNED ABOUT WHETHER BUICK HAS LOOKED INTO THIS ISSUE. *TR

I HAD COMPLETELY STOPPED MY VEHICLE IN A PARKING AREA AT A CONDOMINIUM COMPLEX WHERE I WAS DELIVERING A MEAL TO MY NEPHEW WHO RESIDES THERE. BECAUSE I HAD JUST RECENTLY LEARNED THAT SOMEONE FROM MY COMMUNITY WAS DYING FROM AN ENCEPHALITIS-INFECTED MOSQUITO AND I AM VERY PRONE TO MOSQUITO BITES, I DECIDED TO RE-START MY CAR AND BACK INTO THE OPEN PARKING SPACE DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF THE CONDO UNIT, A DISTANCE OF ABOUT 40 FEET FROM MY ORIGINAL STOP. I PROCEEDED TO BACK UP VERY SLOWLY AND VERY CAREFULLY INTO THE PARKING SPACE IN FRONT OF THE CONDOMINIUM UNIT. WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKE TO STOP, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP AND INSTEAD, IN WHAT SEEMED LIKE A FLASH, ROCKETED BACKWARD, A DISTANCE OF ABOUT 40 FEET INTO THE SIDE OF THE CONDOMINUM. THE VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING SO FAST THAT IT MISSED THE SHRUBBERY IN FRONT OF THE BUILDING AND STRUCK THE WINDOW ABOVE IT, CRASHING INTO THE BUILDING. AT THE TIME, I WAS AN EXPERIENCED DRIVER WITH A PERFECT DRIVING RECORD OF OVER 30 YEARS. THERE IS NO QUESTION IN MY MIND THAT I APPLIED THE BRAKE, BUT IT FAILED TO STOP THE VEHICLE. BASED ON MY RECOLLECTION AND ON MY DRIVING EXPERIENCE, I AM CERTAIN THAT THERE WAS NO WAY THAT I HAD STEPPED ON THE ACCELERATOR BY ACCIDENT. ON THE CONTRARY, I BELIEVE THIS WAS AN INSTANCE OF SUDDEN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION. I SUFFERED WHIP LASH BUT WAS TREATED AND RELEASED IN THE HOSPITAL EMERGENCY ROOM. MY VEHICLE WAS TOTALED, HOWEVER. TO THIS DAY, I STILL HAVE NIGHTMARES OF THE HORRIBLE FEELING WHEN THE CAR THAT I HAD LOVED SO MUCH ROCKETED BACKWARD AND I FELT TOTALLY HELPLESS AND TRAPPED INSIDE. HAVING NOT PREVIOUSLY HEARD OF SUDDEN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION, I WAS INITIALLY IN SHOCK AND AT A TOTAL LOSS TO EXPLAIN WHAT HAD HAPPENED. I ONLY KNEW THAT I HAD STEPPED ON THE BRAKE, BUT THE CAR CONTINUED IN ITS BACKWARD PATH AND, IN A FLASH, ROCKETED BACKWARD. *TR
PURCHASED A 2009 BUICK LACROSSE IN FEB 09 FOR MY WIFE - AT VARIOUS TIMES ABOUT 6 EVENTS HAVE HAPPENED ALL TOGETHER WITH A STRONG ALCOHOL ODOR COMING INTO THE INTERIOR. THE SMELL IS STRONG AND CAUSES HER NOSE, EYE AND THROAT TO BURN. THIS PAST WEEKEND - SHE DROVE IT TO VA BEACH, VA WITH FAMILY AND IT HAPPENED TWICE ON SUNDAY - JUNE 7, 2009. MY CONCERN IS IF THE BUILD UP OF THIS STRONG ALCOHOL ODOR COMES INTO THE CAR - CAN THE ODOR CAUSE A FIRE? I HAVE HAD IT BACK TO DEALERSHIP WHERE PURCHASED AND THEY SAID UNTIL IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME - THERE IS NOT A THING THEY CAN DO ABOUT IT. I AM TAKING IT TO ANOTHER GM DEALERSHIP IN THE MORNING TO SEE WHAT THEY COME UP WITH. WE LIKE THE CAR, BUT AM AFRAID IT MAY CAUSE A FIRE WITH THIS STRONG ODOR COMING INTO THE CABIN OF THE AUTO, OR CAUSE MY WIFE TO HAVE AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE SHE HAS LUNG COPD PROBLEMS AND THE ODOR TAKES HER BREATH AWAY IT IS SO STRONG. THIS HAS HAPPENED ONCE IN FEB, TWICE IN MARCH, ONCE IN APRIL AND TWICE IN JUNE THAT SHE HAS NOTICED. I HAVE ALSO SMELLED AN ODD ODOR ON A TRIP TO COLUMBUS, OHIO. CAN YOU HELP FIND A SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM OR LET ME KNOW IF OTHERS HAVE HAD THIS SAME PROBLEM. THANKS *TR
2 Recalls
This defect can affect the safe operation of the airbag system. Until this recall is performed, customers should remove all items from their key rings, leaving only the ignition key. The key fob (if applicable), should also be removed from the key ring.
