HAS SOME KIND OF SECURTY MALFUNCTION THAT WONT LET ME START TRUCK FO 9 MINUTES
TRUCK INTERMITTENTLY LOSES POWER WHEN PRESSING GAS PEDDLE CAUSING BUCKING, STALLING THEN WILL SUDDENLY RUNS FINE AGAIN CAUSING RAPID ACCELERATION CREATING EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND HAZARDOUS DRIVING. APPEARS TO BE THE FUEL SYSTEM CONTROL MODULE BECAUSE IT OCCURS IN DAMP, RAIN WEATHER. ACCORDING TO THE DEALER THE FUEL SYSTEM CONTROL MODULE WAS REPLACED AS PER RECALL BEFORE PURCHASE. IN ADDITION, THE THROTTLE BODY WAS ALSO REPLACED AS PART OF ANOTHER RECALL FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. THE SAME INTERMITTENT PROBLEM STILL EXIST BUT GM IS UNABLE TO REPAIR THIS VEHICLE AFTER NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS AND MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS.
FUEL PUMP LINE CORROSION ON FUEL PUMP MODULE FAILED CAUSING MAJOR FUEL LEAKAGE AND EXTREME FIRE HAZARD DUE TO FUEL LEAKAGE IN ADDITION TO PERMEATING INSIDE OF VEHICLE WITH TOXIC GAS FUMES.GM REFUSED ANY RECALL.
VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY. UNABLE TO START FOR APPROX. 10 MINUTES. SECURITY PASSCODE ISSUE
RUBBER HOOD WEATHER STRIP AT REAR OF HOOD CLOSURE AREA DETACHED, DROPPED DOWN FROM INSUFFICIENT RETENTION CLIP DESIGN, ATOP OF DRIVER SIDE EXHAUST MANIFOLD CATALYST, AND CAUGHT FIRE. FIRE GREW QUICKLY AND TRAVELED UP VERTICAL LAYING WEATHER STRIP, MELTED THROUGH PLASTIC PCV HOSES AND CONVOLUTE OVER PRESSURIZED FUEL LINE SOFT FLEX HOSE PORTION. WAS ABLE TO SMELL BURNING, SEE SMOKE, OPEN HOOD, AND EXTINGUISH FIRE WITH PORTABLE EXTINGUISHER BEFORE FIRE PENETRATED PRESSURIZED FUEL FLEX HOSE AREA. ALL OF THIS HAPPENED AFTER PULLING UP TO MY WORKPLACE. THIS IS A STOCK VEHICLE KEPT IN EXCELLENT MAINTENANCE WITH NO MODIFICATIONS. I KEPT THE WEATHER STRIP AND RETENTION CLIPS AS PROOF.
ON THREE DIFFERENT OCCASIONS IN MOTION ON PUBLIC STREETS OR ROADS NOW I HAVE BEEN DRIVING ALONG AND WENT TO ACCELERATE WHEN THE GAS PEDAL KEPT GOING DOWN UNTIL THE PEDAL STUCK WIDE OPEN AND STUCK FULLY ACCELERATED. I HAVE MANAGED TO AVOID DISASTER BUT THIS IS ALARMING THAT THERE IS NO RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM THAT I SEE A LOT ABOUT ON THE INTERNET CHAT ROOMS WITH THIS MODEL OF CHEVROLET!!
SECURITY PASSCODE ISSUE 2009 CHEVY COLORADO. AT TIMES IT WILL NOT START AND THEN IT WILL TAKE 10 MINUTES FOR IT TO COME BACK ON. ALL THE LIGHTS WORK IN THE CAR AND LOCK SYMBOL FLASHES. THE BATTERY IS NOT DEAD AND I CAN'T DO ANYTHING TO RESTART IT BESIDES WAIT THE TEN MINUTES FOR IT TO RESET. NOT ONLY FOR MYSELF BUT FOR MY CHILDREN THIS IS NOT SAFE. I SHOULD BE ABLE TO RELY ON MY VEHICLE TO START EVERY TIME I TURN THE KEY. NOT SURE IF ITS PASSLOCK SYSTEM OR IGNITION.
COMPLETE SHUTDOWN OF ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. OCCURRED WHILE MOVING AT 50 MPH ON A STATE HIGHWAY AND OCCURRED 2 MORE TIMES WITHIN LAST 48 HOURS WHILE STATIONARY AND TRYING TO START THE TRUCK. I HEAR A CLICKING SOUND FROM BEHIND THE LEFT END OF THE DASHBOARD.
DEALER REFUSED TO HONOR A TSB - 09V310000 - CONCERNING A FAILED / MALFUNCTIONING BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH. THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THE RECALL WAS EXPIRED. *JS *JS *TR THE CONSUMER STATED THE RECALL WAS NOT PERFORMED BECAUSE THE CONSUMER DOES NOT RESIDE IN LOUISANA OR GEORGIA. *TR *JS
ABOUT 3 TIMES A WEEK MY TRUCK WILL NOT CRANK AND I'M THERE HAVING TO JUMP IT OFFF. I TRIED PUTTING A NEW BATTERY IN BUT IT STILL DOES IT. I DON'T SEE THIS HELPING ME OUT IF I'M HAVING TO RUSH TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM OR IF I'M SOMEWHERE AND NEED TO LEAVE IMMEDIATELY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET COLORADO. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE HEADLIGHTS AND INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTING SHUT OFF. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED BEFORE OR DURING THE FAILURE. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 121,000.
GM HAS AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH THIS RANGE OF TRUCKS IN REGARDS TO THE PASS-LOCK ANTI-THEFT MODULE BEING DEFECTIVE. WHAT HAPPENS IS THE TRUCK INTERMITTENTLY THINKS ITS BEING CAR JACKED AND THE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM ACTIVATES, LEAVING YOU STRANDED FOR APPROXIMATELY 10 MINS. I HAVE BEEN STRANDED MULTIPLE TIMES, FIRST HAVING THE TRUCK TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP JUST FOR IT TO START RIGHT UP. I WAS CURIOUS TO WHAT GM IS DOING ABOUT THIS WELL-DOCUMENTED PROBLEM AND WHY IT HAS NOT MADE THE LIST FOR RECALLS OR CAMPAIGNS AS OF YET. THIS ISSUE IS A VERY COSTLY RECURRENT REPAIR (DUE TO THE REPLACEMENT PART BEING THE SAME DEFECTIVE ANTI-THEFT MODULE). MANY GM FORUMS ALONG WITH YOUTUBE VIDEOS HAVE SHOWN THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN PRESENTED TO GM WITHOUT ANY DISCUSSION OF RESOLUTION. I FEEL THAT THIS ISSUE OF INTERMITTENT NOT STARTING PROBLEM DUE TO A DEFECTIVE ANTI-THEFT MODULE SHOULD BE CONSIDERED A SAFETY HAZARD. AS A LONG-STANDING CHEVY CUSTOMER I FEEL OBLIGATED TO SEEK RESOLUTION ALONG WITH REIMBURSEMENT NOT JUST FOR MYSELF BUT TO THE OTHER THOUSANDS OF CHEVY TRUCK OWNERS WITH THE SAME ISSUE.
I HAD MY FUEL SYSTEM CONTROL MODULE REPLACED ON MY 2009 CHEVROLET COLORADO ON 04/17/2017. FOR SOME REASON MY VEHICLE ISN'T COVERED IN THE RECALL EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS WATER IN THE MODULE WHICH CAUSED MY ENGINE LIGHT TO COME ON AND MY VEHICLE NOT TO START, WHICH IS THE EXACT CONSEQUENCE DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL.
WILL NOT START WHEN DASH PADLOCK INDICATOR IS BLINKING. AFTER WAITING 10-15 MINUTES THE INDICATOR WILL STAY SOLID AND VEHICLE WILL START. DOES THIS OFF AND ON EVERY WEEK OR SO. YOU DO NOT KNOW WHEN IT WILL HAPPEN. DEALERSHIP WOULD NOT CHECK IT OUT AS IT DID NOT OCCUR WHEN I WAS THERE. THEY DO NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THIS AS BEING A PROBLEM BUT CHECKING ONLINE FORUMS A LOT OF OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM.
VEHICHLE WILL NOT START WHEN PADLOCK DASH INDICATOR IS BLINKING, IF YOU WAIT 10-15 MINUTES PADLOCK DASH INDICATOR WILL STAY STEADY AND VEHICHLE WILL START. THIS HAS HAPPENED OFF AND ON GOING ON 6-8 YEARS NOW. YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN THE VEHICLE WILL DO THIS, WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP IT WAS WORKING FINE AND THEY DEALER WOULD NOT LOOK AT IT. A LOT OF OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM ACCORDING TO SOME OF THE ONLINE FORUMS I HAVE VISITED. THE IGNITION SWITCH IS BAD BUT GM WON'T AKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM EXISTS. BOUGHT THE VEHICLE NEW AND IT HAS HAPPENED ON AND OFF AGAIN FOR 6-8 YEARS.
FROM TIME TO TIME TRUCK WILL NOT CRANK. DASH LIGHTS UP WITH A BLINKING LOCK FLASHING. IF YOU WAIT 10 MINUTES WILL START. HAVE HAD IT AT CHEVROLET DEALER AND 3 OTHER REPAIR SHOPS SPENT $600 NEVER FIXED. HAD 50000 MILES ON IT. OTHERWISE RUNS GREAT
MY ORIGINAL COMPLAINT NUMBER IS 10967682. THIS IS A FOLLOW-UP ON THE COMPLAINT I FILED EARLIER WITH THE COLORADO NOT STARTING. I HAVE TIME NOW BECAUSE I MISSED ANOTHER DOCTOR'S APPOINTMENT BECAUSE THE TRUCK WON'T START. I HAVE NARROWED THE PROBLEM DOWN TO THE TRUCK'S V-PASS OR PASSLOCK SECURITY SYSTEM. ONCE AGAIN, I HAVE TO WAIT AT 10 MINUTE INTERVALS FOR THE TRUCK TO START. ALL THE DASH LIGHTS COME ON BUT THE TRUCK WON'T CRANK. SOMETIMES IT REQUIRES A 10 MINUTE WAIT, SOMETIMES A 20 MINUTE WAIT, SOMETIMES A 30 MINUTE WAIT. ALL THE DEALER CAN SAY IS TO BRING IT IN AND THEY WILL LOOK AT IT. I HAVE ALREADY BEEN THERE, DONE THAT. NO FIX TO DATE HAS SOLVED THE PROBLEM. I WOULD TRADE THIS TRUCK IN, BUT I WOULD FEEL GUILTY PASSING THIS PROBLEM ONTO ANOTHER PERSON
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET COLORADO. ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS SHIFTED INTO THE ON POSITION, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT OPERABLE FOR TEN MINUTES. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE PASSLOCK SENSOR WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 48,000.
SPORADICALLY WHEN TRYING TO START THE VEHICLE, IT WILL NOT START. THEN AFTER 10 TO 15 MINUTES THE VEHICLE WILL START. THIS IS NOT A CONSISTENT ISSUE. THIS OCCURS ANYTIME AND ANYPLACE. FROM RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET, THIS APPEARS TO BE AN IGNITION SWITCH DEFECT. HERE IS A VIDEO OF THIS ISSUE: HTTPS://WWW.YOUTUBE.COM/WATCH?V=USZGLHTHDWO
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
TRUCK STARTS FINE EXCEPT ABOUT EVERY MONTH ON AVERAGE I WILL GO TO START TRUCK AND NOTHING HAPPENS. AT FIRST I THOUGHT I HAD A DEAD BATTERY. AFTER THE THIRD TIME THIS HAPPENED I GOOGLED THE PROBLEM AND FOUND OUT IT WAS THE PASSLOCK SYSTEM. IF I WAIT TEN MINUTES TRUCK STARTS. THIS FIRST STARTED TO HAPPEN AROUND TWO YEARS AGO.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET COLORADO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE DID NOT START AFTER TURNING THE KEY IN THE IGNITION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE MUST REMAIN PARKED FOR TEN MINUTES IN ORDER TO BECOME OPERABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT INITIALLY BELIEVED THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO A DEAD BATTERY. THE CONTACT REPLACED THE BATTERY, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS INTERMITTENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 60,000.
MY COLORADO WOULD NOT START SOMETIMES WHEN WE STOPPED FOR SOMETHING OR WOULD NOT START IN THE MORNINGS AND I MISSED WORK BECAUSE OF IT,AND IT WOULD START LATER ON ,IT WAS GETTING FRIGHTENING AND DISCOURAGING.I TAUGHT TO TRADE IT BUT I LIKE TO KEEP IT BECAUSE I LOVE IT .I WAS CHARGED 400.00 TO GET IT FIXED(I HOPE)THAT,NOT FAIR PLEASE SEE IF I CAN GET A REFUND ,CAUSE I AM HAVING A ROUGH TIME RIGHT NOW.THANKS.
SOMETIMES WON'T START WITHOUT WAITING 10 MINUTES BECAUSE PASS LOCK LIGHT IS ON SEEMS TO BE BECOMING MORE OFTEN. SEEN ONLINE IT'S A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL? IT CAN BE DANGEROUS DEPENDING ON THE SITUATION YOU ARE IN ESPECIALLY WHERE I LIVE IN INDIANPOLIS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET COLORADO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL WITHOUT WARNING AND TOOK APPROXIMATELY 10 MINUTES BEFORE RESTARTING. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION OR STOPPED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET COLORADO. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER AND THE INSTRUMENT PANEL DIMMED. THE ABS AND BRAKE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. LATER, THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO UNLOCK THE DOORS. THE CONTACT JIGGLED THE KEY FOR A WHILE TO UNLOCK THE DOOR. ALSO, IT TOOK SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO START THE IGNITION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL DEALER, WHO WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURES. THE FAILURES RECURRED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THERE WAS A LOOSE GROUND HARNESS CONNECTOR AT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE INNER FENDER, BELOW THE AIR FILTER BOX. THE DEALER CLEANED AND TIGHTENED THE GROUND HARNESS CONNECTOR CABLE. THE FAILURES RECURRED AFTER SIX WEEKS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,289.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET COLORADO. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. AFTER WAITING TEN MINUTES, THE VEHICLE RESTARTED AND RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. ON NUMEROUS OCCASSIONS, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START ON THE FIRST ATTEMPT AND OPERATED ONLY AFTER WAITING TEN MINUTES. THE SPORADIC FAILURE BECAME PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE OR LOCATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNAVAILABLE.
STAB SYS TRACTION CONTROL SERVICE FAILURE, YAW RATE SENSOR FAILURE, EBCM FAILURE, NO CRANK/NO START FAILURE.
DRIVING STRAIGHT AT 55 MPH ON INDIANA HIGHWAY 3 WITH CRUISE ON ENGINE DIED AND WOULD TURN OVER BUT NOT START.COASTED OFF ONTO A COUNTRY ROAD,HAD THE COLORADO TOWED TO A AUTO REPAIR SHOP.REPAIR SHOP FOUND A BLOWN 20 AMP IGNITION FUSE, REPLACED FUSE AND ENGINE STARTED UP RAN FINE.REPAIR SHOP COULD NOT GET THE FUSE TO BLOW AGAIN.ON OTHER INTERNET SITES PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEMS,BUT NO GM SERVICE BULLETINS OR RECALLS.THE TRUCK HAS ABOUT 80,000 MILES ON IT.I'M CONCERNED I MAY HAVE A WRECK OR GET KILLED IF THIS HAPPENS AGAIN.
ON DECEMBER 6, 2015 I WAS DRIVING MY COLORADO WHEN I SMELLED AN ELECTRICAL FIRE. A FEW MINUTES LATER MY PASSENGER TOLD ME TO PULL OVER. THERE WAS A FIRE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE UNDER THE GLOVE BOX. IT WAS THE AC BLOWER FAN RESISTOR. WE WERE ABLE TO GET TO A FIRE EXTINGUISHER AND PUT IT OUT BUT AFTER SOME RESEARCH FOUND THAT IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM IN CHEVYS STARTING IN 2005. I CALLED GM AND STARTED A CLAIM. I THEN TOOK IT TO A CHEVY DEALER TO BE FIXED. I WAS INFORMED THAT BECAUSE THE TRUCK WAS OUT OF WARRANTY THAT IT WAS NOT COVERED BY GM AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY $1700 TO HAVE IT FIXED. THIS IS A FACTORY PART. I HAVE NEVER HAD ANY MODIFICATIONS DONE TO THE VEHICLE SINE I DROVE IT OFF THE SHOWROOM FLOOR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET COLORADO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED CONTINUOUSLY. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE AIR BAG WIRE HARNESS TRAVELED THROUGH THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR HINGE AND, WITH EXCESSIVE USAGE OF THE DOOR, THE WIRES FRACTURED AND CAUSED THE AIR BAG INDICATOR TO ILLUMINATE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
ON FRIDAY MORNING AT 8:10AM I WAS DRIVING ON MY WAY TO WORK DOWN AUBURN WAY WHEN MY CHEVROLET COLORADO BEGAN TO SMELL LIKE SOMETHING ELECTRICAL WAS BURNING SECONDS LATER I NOTICED SMOKED COMING FROM UNDER MY GLOVE BOX ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. A FEW SECOND S LATER I SAW FLAMES DRIPPING DOWN TO MY FLOOR BOARD. IT ALL HAPPENED VERY QUICKLY AND SOON AS I PULLED INTO A SIDE ROAD I TRIED TO LOOK AROUND TO SEE WHERE THE FIRE WAS COMING FROM AND I EVEN ATTEMPTED TO PUT OUT THE FIRE STARTED ON MY FLOOR MAT BUT IN SECOND THE TRUCK CAUGHT FIRE AND I WAS ONLY ABLE TO GET A HANDFUL OF MY PAPERS AND MY SONS CAR TOY BEFORE THE FLAMES REALLY TOOK HOLD. I CALLED 9-11 AND THEY RESPONDED RARELY QUICKLY CONSIDERING THE STATION IS ABOUT A MILE AWAY. BUT BY THE TIME THEY ARRIVE THE TRUCK WAS FULLY ENGAGED IN FLAMES. WHEN THEY FINALLY WERE ABLE TO PUT IT OUT THE FIRE CAPTAIN SAID IT SEEMED TO HAVE STARTED U DEAR THE HOOD AS ELECTRICAL FIRE AND BLEW RIGHT THE FIRE WAY. HAD I BEEN ON THE HIGHWAY THE FIRE WOULD HAVE GOT OXYGEN AND I MAY NOT HAD HAD A CHANCE TO GET OUT.
THE WIRING HARNESS THAT PASSES THROUGH THE REAR DRIVERS SIDE DOOR OF MY EXTENDED CAB HAS FAILED TWICE NOW. THE FIRST TIME OCCURRED AT 45K AND MOST RECENTLY AT 54K MILES. BOTH INSTANCES CAUSE THE AIRBAG LIGHT TO COME ON AS A RESULT OF A BROKEN WIRE IN THE HARNESS (GM PART # 20806141).
THE TRUCK IS STILL EXPERIENCING "NO-STARTS". I HAVE BEEN IN CORRESPONDENCE WITH GM TO TRY TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE FOR QUITE SOME TIME, NOW. I PURCHASED MY TRUCK FROM VAN CHEVROLET IN CARROLLTON, TEXAS ON JULY 27, 2009. I WAS NOT AWARE OF A RECALL ON THE FUEL SYSTEM CONTROL MODULE( RECALL #08411 BEGINNING MAY 18, 2009), NOR WAS I INFORMED OF IT BY THE DEALERSHIP. SMART CHEVROLET OF WHITE HALL (FORMERLY OF PINE BLUFF) CLAIMED TO HAVE REPAIRED IT IN 2011, HOWEVER I HAVE HAD EVEN MORE ISSUES SINCE THEN. SMART CLAIMED TO HAVE REPLACED A BRAKE LAMP SWITCH, A CLUTCH SAFETY SWITCH, REPAIRED A BROKEN WIRE IN THE LEFT DOOR JAM AREA, REPLACED A BATTERY (MY COST), WITHOUT MY PERMISSION TO DO SO, RESET SENSORS WHICH THEY REFUSED TO EXPLAIN THE TYPE OF SENSORS THEY RESET (MY COST), RESET OIL LIFE SENSOR, (NO RECORD OF OIL CHANGE) AND I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE RIGHT SIDE HEADLAMP TWICE MYSELF. SMART BLAMED THE "NO-STARTS" ON MY LOCKING GAS CAP AND THE FLOOR MATS, AND ON MY LAST VISIT TO THEIR DEALERSHIP, REFUSED TO WITNESS (FOR GM) THE" NO-START" IN THEIR PARKING LOT. TWO OTHER DEALERSHIPS HAVE TAKEN A LOOK AT THE TRUCK AND I PAID FOR REPAIRS OF A SEAT BELT PRETENSIONER ( CAUSE OF AIRBAG LIGHT), AND HAVE BEEN REFUSED AN INVOICE AND TO BE CHARGED TO SHOW THE REPAIR OF THE BROKEN WIRE IN THE SAME DOOR JAM (SMART SUPPOSED TO HAVE REPAIRED). THIS DEALERSHIP ADMITTED WITNESSING THE "NO-START" THEN CHANGED THEIR STORY AFTER SPEAKING WITH GM. THE LAST DEALERSHIP, AFTER TALKING TO GM, TRIED TO ALSO SAY THAT THE "NO-START" WAS DUE TO THE FLOOR MAT. I EXPERIENCED "NO-STARTS" BEFORE I HAD THE LOCKING- GAS CAP(MADE SPECIFICALLY FOR THE 2009 COLORADO TRUCK) OR MY TRUCK FLOOR MATS. GM OFFERED A SUBSCRIPTION TO ON-STAR AND A $2,000.00 LOYALTY VOUCHER TOWARDS THE PURCHASE OF A NEW CHEVY VEHICLE IN THEIR WORDS "TO SATISFY ME" (JOKE, RIGHT !) THE KEY IS TURNED IN THE IGNITION, THE CAR DOES NOT CRANK.
I WENT TO PULL MY TRUCK OUT OF THE GARAGE AND IT WOULD NOT START. A MECHANIC CAME TO MY HOUSE TO LOOK AT IT AND STATED THAT IT IS NOT GETTING FUEL. UPON DIGGING INTO THE REPAIRS THE FUEL MODULE HAD WATER IN IT. THE MECHANIC WENT TO O'REILLYS FOR THE PART AND WAS ADVISED OF A RECALL # 08411. I REPORTED MY PROBLEMS TO JIM BUTLER CHEVEROLET AND SEPAUGH BOTH WHOM REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE THIS RECALL. I ALSO CALLED GM ABOUT THIS RECALL AND GOT NO WHERE. I WAS NOT ABLE TO GET TO WORK FOR 1 DAY AND THEN RIDES FOR THE REST OF THE WEEK TO WORK. THIS IS CAUSING AN INCONVEINCE TO ME AND MY COWORKERS, AS WELL AS PUT OF POCKETS COST FOR THIS REPAIR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET COLORADO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 09V154000 (FUEL SYSTEM). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 41,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET COLORADO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PASS LOCK SECURITY SYSTEM FEATURE INTERMITTENTLY ACTIVATED AND THAT THERE WAS SOME SORT OF AN ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTION. THE CONTACT WAS NOT ABLE TO ACCESS THE VEHICLE SEVERAL TIMES DUE TO THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO REPLACED THE IGNITION SWITCH TWICE, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO ACCESS THE VEHICLE, BUT WAS UNABLE TO DUE TO THE SECURITY SYSTEM ACTIVATING UPON TRYING TO ACCESS THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ANOTHER AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO ALSO DIAGNOSED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE SEVERAL TIMES. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE 2009 MODEL CHEVROLET COLORADO WILL NOT START WHEN I TURN THE KEY IN THE IGNITION SWITCH. THE INCIDENT DATE AND MILEAGE MAY NOT BE CORRECT, HOWEVER WHEN I FIRST BEGAN EXPERIENCING THIS PROBLEM, I WOULD ALWAYS CALL ON-STAR AND THEY WOULD RUN A DIAGNOSTIC CHECK WHILE THE CAR WASN'T OPERATING PROPERLY. THE DIAGNOSTIC WOULD ALWAYS COME BACK " NORMAL". I LEARNED THAT IF I WAITED 5-9 MINUTES, THE VEHICLE WOULD START AS IF NOTHING WERE WRONG. THE " NO-START " HAS BECOME MORE FREQUENT. I HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH GM RECENTLY CONCERNING THE "NO START" PROBLEM AND AN "AIR BAG" SENSOR LIGHT THAT HAS RECURRED AFTER THE FIRST DEALERSHIP "SUPPOSEDLY REPAIRED" AND CHARGED ALMOST $300 ( THE BILLING STATEMENT READ " RESET SENSORS" AND THE DEALERSHIP REFUSED TO ELABORATE ON THE TYPE OF SENSORS THAT WERE "RESET" ). GM MADE ARRANGEMENTS FOR A SECOND DEALERSHIP TO LOOK AT THE "AIR BAG" ISSUE, BUT REFUSED TO ADDRESS THE "NO-START" ISSUE. THE DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT- BELT PRETENSIONER WAS REPLACED FOR $303. THE REPAIRMAN RELATED THE PRETENSIONER TO THE "AIR BAG" SENSOR LIGHT. I INQUIRED ABOUT REIMBURSEMENT FOR REPAIRS AND RECALLS ON THE 2009 COLORADO AND WAS RUDELY INFORMED THAT REIMBURSEMENTS WOULD BE" DENIED". AFTER GIVING TWO SCENARIOS OF ME BEING IN AN INJURY AND FATAL ACCIDENT RELATED TO THE "NO-START" ISSUE, I WAS TOLD BY THE GM REPRESENTATIVE THAT "WE WILL DEAL WITH IT, THEN!". I ASKED IF THERE HAD BEEN ANY RECALLS FOR IGNITION SWITCHES ON GM PRODUCTS AND WAS TOLD "YES, BUT THERE WAS NO OPEN RECALL ON MY PARTICULAR VEHICLE" . I RESEARCHED RECALLS ON THE 2009 CHEVROLET COLORADO AND DISCOVERED A FUEL SYSTEM CONTROL MODULE RECALL DATED MAY 6, 2009 BEFORE I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE IN JULY 2009 (NHTSA CAMPAIGN # 09V-154), AND THE PRODUCT SAFETY RECALL BULLETIN NO. 08411 INCLUDES VIN NUMBERS 98104802 THROUGH 98123134. MY VIN NUMBER, IS INCLUDED IN THIS RANGE. PLEASE HELP ! *TR
AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON, I HAVE NOT SCHEDULE SERVICE WITH THE DEALER BUT I AM GOING TO DO IT THIS WEEK, ARE THERE ANY RECALLS ON IT? *TR

NO CRANK, NO START CONDITION CAUSED BY DEFECTIVE IGNITION SWITCH HOUSING (PASS LOCK SENSOR FAILURE) THAT CAN LEAVE OWNER STRANDED. THIS IS WIDESPREAD AMONG GM AND CHEVROLET COLORADO VEHICLES. GM NEEDS TO REDESIGN IGNITION SWITCH HOUSING AND PASS LOCK SENSOR TO PREVENT FAILURE AND ISSUE A RECALL. THERE IS NO RECALL NOTICE OR ANY INDICATION THAT REPLACING THE ORIGINAL IGNITION SWITCH HOUSING DEFECTIVE PARTS WITH IDENTICAL, NEW PARTS DOES NOT GUARANTEE THE PROBLEM WILL NOT UNEXPECTEDLY OCCUR AGAIN. NO CRANK/ NO START. THIS IS A WIDESPEREAD AND VERY COMMON ISSUE WITH ALL YEARS CHEVY COLORADOS AND HAPPENS INTERMITTENTLY WHERE THE ENGINE WILL NOT CRANK (TURN OVER). THIS CAN BE A PARTICULARLY UNSAFE ISSUE FOR MANUAL TRANSMISSION MODELS IF FOR SOME REASON THE VEHICLE IS STALLED IN TRAFFIC OR LEAVING THE DRIVER STRANDED IN SOME REMOTE AREA UNDER ADVERSE WEATHER CONDITIONS, FOR EXAMPLE AND WILL NOT START. THIS HAPPENS SPORATICALLY, VERY DIFFICULT TO DUPLICATE MAKING THIS VEHICLE UNRELIABLE AND UNSAFE. GM DOES NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THERE IN AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM AS NO RECALLS HAVE BEEN ISSUED. *TR
PURCHASED VEHICLE USED. WITHIN 1 WEEK VEHICLE FAILED TO START. DASH SHOWS SECURITY LOCK FLASHING. VEHICLE WILL NOT START UNTIL IT IS NO LONGER ILLUMINATED, TAKES APPROX. 10 TO 15 MINUTES. CONTINUES TO HAPPEN ON A REGULAR BASIS EVERY 7 TO 10 DAYS, ON OCCASION HAS HAPPENED TWICE IN SAME DAY OR 2 DAYS IN A ROW. CALLED DEALERSHIP - OFFERED NO SOLUTION. HAS BEEN 2 MONTHS NOW AND HAVE BEEN STRANDED MANY MANY TIMES WAITING FOR VEHICLE TO START. *TR
THIS VEHICLE "PASS LOCK" SYSTEM IS ACTIVATING NEARLY EVERY ATTEMPT TO START. THIS REQUIRES THE DRIVER TO WAIT 10 MINUTES WITH THE KEY IN THE IGNITION, IN THE "ON" POSITION. AFTER APPROX 10 MINUTES, THE PASS LOCK LIGHT WILL GO OFF ALLOWING THE DRIVER TO ATTEMPT TO START THE VEHICLE AGAIN. SOMETIMES IT WILL ACTIVATE THE PASS LOCK SYSTEM AN ADDITIONAL TIME AND REPEAT THE ABOVE PROCESS. THIS HAS LEFT ME STRANDED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS IN AREAS I PREFER NOT TO BE AROUND ANY LONGER THAN NECESSARY. THIS ISSUE IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN. *TR

TRAVELING ON A DARK COLD NIGHT WHEN VEHICLE CODED SERVICE ENGINE ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL CAME ON WE HAD NO HEADLIGHTS BRAKES LIGHTS NO WIPERS NO HEAT OR AIR AND UNABLE TO UNLOCK DOORS. WE WERE FORTUNATE THAT WE GIT OFF THE SIDE IF ROAD BEFORE ANY COLLISON. WE WERE UNABLE TO GET ANYTHING TO COME BACK ON FOR A FEW MINUTES. WE ACTUALLY HAD TO SHUT OFF VEHICLE AND RESTART THAT WORKED UNTIL WE COULD GET HOME. NO ONE CM TELL US WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE TRUCK. NOW IT IS NOT RUNNING AND UNABLE TO DRIVE IT. NOT VERY PLEASED WITH THIS TRUCK. WE BOUGHT IT NEW IN 2009. I FEEL THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM GM SHOULD HAVE TO FIX. I STILL CAN'T FIND A RECALL FOR THIS VEHICLE. *TR

THE TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER LINE WAS NOT SEATED IN ITS CLAMP/FITTING ALLOWING THE METAL LINE TO CONTACT/RUB THE STEEL FRAME WHEREBY A HOLE WAS WORN THROUGH TUBING. THIS CAUSED A TRANSMISSION OIL LEAK WHEREBY THE LEAKED FLUID WAS BEING SPRAYED ALONG THE UNDERSIDE OF THE VEHICLE WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS MOVING. *TR

NO INCIDENT BUT WANTED TO REPORT POTENTIAL HAZARDS: I HAVE A 2009 CHEVY COLORADO AND HAVE A COUPLE SAFETY COMPLAINTS. TIRE CHANGING- THIS VEHICLE IS VERY STRANGE AND UNSAFE TO ME WHEN TRYING TO CHANGE A TIRE. - THE TOP OF THE JACK IS BARELY CONCAVE(YOU HAVE TO LOOK CLOSELY) AND A LARGE ROUND AXLE HAS TO REST ON THAT SLIGHTLY CONCAVE INDENTATION OF THE JACK, IT COULD EASILY FALL OFF EVEN WHEN THE JACK IS ON A CONCRETE FLOOR. - YOU HAVE TO SLIDE ON YOUR BACK WAY UNDER THE VEHICLE TO POSITION THE JACK DIRECTLY UNDER THE VEHICLE'S AXLE ELSE IT'S AT RISK OF FALLING OFF THE JACK DUE TO MISALIGNMENT. HOW'S ANYONE SUPPOSED TO DO THAT ON THE SHOULDER AT NIGHT. - YOU HAVE TO ASSEMBLE THIS LONG 3-PIECE ROD TO SLIP INTO THE JACK AND KEEP THE JACK FROM MOVING WHEN YOU'RE CRANKING THE JACK UP TO MEET THE AXLE, HOW IS ANYONE SUPPOSED TO DO THAT W/O MOVING THE JACK? HAZARD FLASHERS- ONE DAY I NEEDED TO TURN ON THE HAZARD FLASHERS BECAUSE A DISABLED VEHICLE WAS IN FRONT OF ME. I LOOKED ALL OVER AND COULD NOT FIND THE HAZARD LIGHTS SWITCH. I HAVE DRIVEN MOSTLY GM'S MY ENTIRE LIFE, THE HAZARD SWITCH HAS ALWAYS BEEN IN PLAIN SIGHT AND RED, NEVER DID FIND IT ON THE COLORADO AND DON'T HAVE TIME TO READ A BIG THICK MANUAL IN AN EMERGENCY. I HAVE ALWAYS LIKED GM'S(ONE OF THEIR BIGGEST ADVOCATES) BUT ON THE COLORADO KEEP THINKING, "WHERE WERE THEIR EVALUATION EMPLOYEES W/THE COLORADO, THERE ARE SO MANY THING THAT WEREN'T DESIGNED RIGHT". THEY ARE BASIC THINGS THAT WOULDN'T COST ANY MORE TO DO RIGHT. SAFETY-WISE THE JACK IS A HUGE HAZARD TO ME, COULD FALL OFF THE JACK SO EASILY, WHY DIDN'T THEY DO LIKE THE S10 OR MONTE CARLO AND HAVE A LARGE BUMP OR TABS ON THE JACK THA CATCH THE EDGE OF THE FRAME.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET COLORADO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SHIFTED INTO PARK WHEN THE ENGINE BEGAN TO REV AND JERK SLIGHTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN SHUT OFF AND THE CONTACT COULD SMELL A STRONG ODOR OF FUEL. UPON EXITING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT FUEL WAS LEAKING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT A RODENT CHEWED THROUGH THE PLASTIC FUEL LINES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 22,000.
FOR THE SECOND TIME SINCE I BOUGHT MY 2009 COLORADO IN DECEMBER OF 2010, I HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH THE IGNITION SWITCH. THE ENGINE DOESN'T EVEN TRY TO TURN OVER. THE DASH TELLS ME THAT THE IGNITION IS IN THE LOCK POSITION WHEN IT CLEARLY ISN'T. I EVEN TRIED USING THE SPARE KEY IN CASE THE KEY ITSELF WAS THE ISSUE. IT HASN'T BEEN FIXED YET, AND THE ONLY THING I CAN DO IS KEEP TRYING UNTIL IT DECIDES TO SEND THE MESSAGE TO START THE TRUCK. THIS TAKES ABOUT 10 MINUTES OR SO OF CONSTANTLY TRYING TO START THE TRUCK. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET COLORADO. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 40 MPH AND CRASHED INTO A WALL. THE IMPACT FORCED THE CONTACT INTO THE STEERING WHEEL CAUSING INJURY TO THE CHEST. THE AIR BAG SYSTEM DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,500.
