IT TIMES IT WONT START HAVE TO WAIT 15-20 MIN TO START WHILE PARKED I ALSO HAD A 2004 COLORADO THAT DID THE SAME THING .NOW FOR THE SAFETY END .IF YOUR IN THE COUNTRY AN YOU OR SOMEONE IS HAVEING A MEDICAL ISSUE AN IT WONT START THEIR IS A POSSIBLE LIFE OR DEATH SITUATION THAT PERSON HAS A GREATER CHANCE OF DIEING .I HAVE TALKED TO DEALERS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM ALL THEY SAID WE CAN TRY DIFFERENT THINGS BUT AT MY EXPENCE. I WAS DRIVING APPROX. 65 MPH IN HEAVY TRAFFIC ON THE NEW YORK STATE THRUWAY WHEN I LOST ALL POWER TO MY TRUCK AND WAS BARELY ABLE TO MANUEVER OFF THE ROAD. I HAD MY TRUCK TOWED TO MY MECHANIC & WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS THE FUEL PUMP FLOW CONTROL MODULE. RECALL NO. 08411 2009 GMC CANYONS WERE RECALLED BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM. THE RECALL STATED THAT THE FUEL SYSTEM CONTROL MODULES HAVE A CONDITION IN WHICH AN ADHESIVE SEPARATION OF THE RTV SEAL BETWEEN THE SEAL AND THE HOUSING MAY ALLOW WATER TO SEEP INTO THE MODULE. WATER IN THE MODULE COULD CAUSE A SHORT, ILLUMINATION OF THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT (WHICH WAS ON IN MY TRUCK). ALSO THE ENGINE MAY BE HARD TO START, MAY NOT START OR MAY STALL. IF THE VEHICLE STALLS WHILE IT IS MOVING, A CRASH MAY OCCUR! THIS HAPPENED TO ME BUT I WAS FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO NOT CRASH AND DIE. LIKE OTHERS MY TRUCK DID NOT FALL WITHIN THE VIN #S. OBVIOUSLY THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THIS PART. MY TRUCK HAD THE PROBLEMS STATED IN THE RECALL AND THIS WAS CONFIRMED BY MY MECHANIC & DEALERSHIP. HOWEVER, GMC DENIED THE REIMBURSEMENT BECAUSE IT WAS NOT WITHIN THE RECALLED VIN#S. GMC WAS NOT BROAD ENOUGH WITH THEIR RECALL!! I'M ATTACHING A PHOTO OF THE MODULE AND YOU CAN CLEARLY SEE THE CORROSION .
MY AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON, I TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL REPAIR SHOP AND THEY FOUND A BROKEN WIRE IN THE REAR DRIVERSIDE DOOR THEY SPLICED THE WIRE AND THAT WORKED FOR ABOUT A MONTH AND NOW IT IS COMING BACK ON AGAIN BUT IT SEEMS TO ONLY COME ON WHEN IT IS DAMP OR RAINING. I OPEN THE DOOR AND MOVE THE WIRE HARNESS AROUND IT WILL GO BACK OFF.

VEHICLE (VIN) ENTRY INTO DATABASE RETURNED "0 RECALLS", SO NHTSA CAMPAIGN 09V154000 REMAINED UNKNOWN AND ORDINARY REPLACEMENT OF FSCM WAS ATTEMPTED. WHEN FSCM 20850907 REPLACEMENT WAS ORDERED, GM FSCM PART 20759945 WAS SUPPLIED, WHICH FAILED TO OPERATE. GM DEALER REFUSED TO VERIFY CORRECT PART NUMBER AND WITHHELD ALL INFORMATION ABOUT NHTSA CAMPAIGN 09V154000.

MY PICKUP HAS WHAT GM REFERS TO AS "PHANTOM SHIFT". WHILE TRAVELING ON I5 @ 70 MILES PER HR, MY PICKUP THRU NO ACTION ON MY PART, SHIFTED INTO 4 WHEEL DRIVE. PREVIOUSLY THIS HAPPENED WHILE TURNING LEFT OR RIGHT AT SLOWER SPEEDS. GM ISSUED A "BULLETIN" IN FEB. 2011 GIVING DEALERS INSTRUTIONS ON HOW TO DEAL WITH, AND REPAIRS TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. A LOCAL DEALER, USING THAT BULLETIN, IN DECEMBER 2016 PROCEEDED TO "FIX THIS PROBLEM WITH MY VEHICLE." CHARGING ME $849.35. IN JULY 2017 THE SAME PROBLEM RE-APPEARED. THE LOCAL DEALER (AIRPORT CHEVROLET IN MEDFORD, OREGON) IS NOW REFUSING TO HONOR THEIR WARRANTY FOR THEIR "FIX IN DECEMBER CLAIMING THAT BECAUST THE COMPUTER IN MY VEHICLE IS NOT "THROWING ANY CODES". GM IS DEMANDING THAT I GET A SECOND OPION AT ANOTHER DEALER AT MY EXPENSE WHEN THE OTHER DEALER HAS ALREADY ESPRESSED AN ORAL OPION THAT THEY KNOW THEY CAN'T FIX ANYTHING THAT DOESN'T "THROW CODES". ATTEMPT TO START THE ENGINE AFTER SITTING FOR A FEW HOURS IN DRIVEWAY, THE ENGINE STARTS THEN SPUTTERS AND STALLS AS IF NOT GETTING ENOUGH GAS AND ATTEMPTS TO DIE. AFTER A FEW MOMENTS, IT FINALLY CATCHES UP AND RUNS. ENGINE HAS STALLED WHILE SITTING AT TRAFFIC LIGHS SEVERAL TIMES. ACCORDING TO DOCUMENT ID # 2274089--- #08411 PRODUCT SAFETY- HARD START, NO START, ENGINE STALL- REPLACE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE- ( MAY 7, 2009) I HAVE TAKEN MY VEHICLE TO A GMC DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES IN THE PAST ALONG WITH A COPY OF RECALL BUT THEY CLAIM THAT IT IS A SERVICE BULLENTIN AND NOT A RECALL SO THEY WOULD NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT GATEWAY SERVICE DEALERSHIP AND TOLD THEM THE PROBLEM I WAS HAVING WITH THE ENGINE STALL. WHEN DRIVING I'VE NOTICE THAT WHEN HITTING A HARD BUMP, SOMETIMES TURNING OR ACCELERATING QUICKLY WHETHER ON THE HIGHWAY OR STREET, THE TRUCK SHUTS OFF CAUSING THE POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES USELESS AND VERY HARD TO APPLY. SOMETIMES THIS HAPPENS SEVERAL TIMES IN THE COURSE OF ONE TRIP AND HAPPENS AT A VARIETY OF DIFFERENT SPEEDS. THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM. THE ICON FOR THE THEFT DETERRENT APPEARS. THEN I HAVE TO QUICKLY PUT THE TRUCK IN NEUTRAL IN ORDER TO RESTART THE TRUCK. THE DATE BELOW IS THE MOST RECENT DAY IT HAS HAPPENED. THIS HAS BECOME A VERY SERIOUS CAUSE OF CONCERN FOR ME AND MY FAMILY. I'M NOT SURE IF THIS IS RELATED TO THE IGNITION RECALL OR ANY OTHER RECALL. HAVE TAKEN TRUCK IN TO DEALERSHIP TWICE NOW FOR PROBLEM, AND NO RESOLUTION. STARTS EVERY TIME FOR THEM. UPON INSPECTION, SEVERAL WIRES (AIR BAG (ORANGE), A SPEAKER WIRE (BROWN) WERE COMPLETELY BROKEN. THIS APPEARS TO BE AN EXTREMELY COMMON PROBLEM WITH CHEVY COLORADOS/GMC CANYONS WITH EXTENDED CABS AND SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO FURTHER. THE AIRBAG SHOULDN'T BE COMPROMISED BECAUSE OF A POOR WIRING DESIGN IN THE REAR DOOR. *TR

I WAS ON I 475 DRIVING APPROX. 65 MPH WHEN I LOST ALL POWER TO MY TRUCK AND WAS BARELY ABLE TO COAST OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I HAD MY TRUCK TOWED TO THE NEAREST GMC DEALERSHIP TO DETERMINE THE PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS THE FUEL PUMP FLOW CONTROL MODULE. I RESEARCHED THIS PROBLEM AT HOME AND FOUND OUT THAT 2009 GMC CANYONS WERE RECALLED BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM. THE RECALL STATED THAT THE FUEL SYSTEM CONTROL MODULES HAVE A CONDITION IN WHICH AN ADHESIVE SEPARATION OF THE RTV SEAL BETWEEN THE SEAL AND THE HOUSING MAY ALLOW WATER TO SEEP INTO THE MODULE. WATER IN THE MODULE COULD CAUSE A SHORT, ILLUMINATION OF THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT (WHICH WAS ON IN MY TRUCK). ALSO THE ENGINE MAY BE HARD TO START, MAY NOT START OR MAY STALL. IF THE VEHICLE STALLS WHILE IT IS MOVING, A CRASH MAY OCCUR! HELLO, THIS HAPPENED TO ME BUT I WAS FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO NOT CRASH AND DIE. SO BACK TO THE RECALL ON MY TRUCK. GUESS WHAT? MY TRUCK DID NOT FALL WITHIN THE VIN #S THAT WERE RECALLED AND I WAS REQUIRED TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR. TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE MY WARRANTY COVERED THIS PROBLEM IF THE TRUCK WAS WITHIN 3 YEARS OR 36,000 MILES WHICHEVER COMES FIRST. WELL MY MILEAGE WAS ONLY 31,000 SO THAT WOULD QUALIFY BUT MY TRUCK WAS OVER 3 YEARS OLD. THIS IS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO WRONG!!! OBVIOUSLY THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH 2009 GMC CANYONS BEING BUILT. HOW CAN YOU SAY IT WAS JUST A CERTAIN FEW THAT HAD THIS FAULTY PART PUT IN IT. MY TRUCK OBVIOUSLY HAD THE PROBLEMS STATED IN THE RECALL AND THIS WAS CONFIRMED BY THE DEALERSHIP.HOWEVER AFTER MANY AGGRAVATING HOURS TO GMC THEY STILL DENIED THE FIX BECAUSE IT WAS NOT WITHIN THE RECALLED VIN#S AND THAT IS WRONG ON SO MANY LEVELS. HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE TO DIE OR GET HURT BEFORE THEY DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS? *TR
WE WERE AT FAMILY GATHERING WHEN A NEIGHBOR CALLED AND SAID THE BLACK TRUCK IS ON FIRE. I RUSHED OUT THE DOOR TO INVESTIGATE AND THERE WAS A FIRE INSIDE THE CAB ON DRIVERS SIDE IN REAR SECTION. I STARTED SPRAYING IT WITH A WATER HOSE AND CALLED 911. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT CAME EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE AND FILLED FUEL TANK WITH WATER JUST IN CASE THEY SAID IT LOOKED LIKE SOMETHING ELECTRICAL STARTED THE FIRE IN THAT SECTION OF THE TRUCK. FIRE MARSHALL GOING COMPLETE INVESTIGATION AND INSURANCE WAS CALLED. *TR

THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS SPUN APPROXIMATELY 270 DEGREES HOWEVER, THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUFFERED FROM MINOR BRUISING. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED OF THE INCIDENT. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,541. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
I SENT IN THIS COMPLAINT A YEAR AGO AND NEVER HEARD BACK FROM YOU. THROTTLE STICKS ON MY CANYON AND IT APPEARS TO BE COMPUTER RELATED. IT CONTINUES TO ACCELERATE EVEN AFTER TAKING MY FOOT "OFF THE GAS." IT WILL REV DOWN AFTER HITTING THE BRAKE PEDAL. HAVE YOU HEARD OF THIS BEFORE? WHEN STEPPING ON BRAKE PEDAL YOU STEP ON GAS PEDAL AT SAME TIME, NO PROPER SPACE BETWEEN THE TWO PEDALS. INSTEAD OF SLOWING DOWN VEHICLE KEEPS GOING. SEEMS UNSAFE. *TR
THIS INCIDENT HAS HAPPENED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. WHEN TAKING OFF FROM A STOPPED POSITION AND GOING THROUGH THE GEARS WHEN ACCELERATING QUICKLY, THE ACCELERATOR HAS STUCK EVEN WHEN MY FOOT IS TAKEN OFF OF THE PEDAL. THIS HAPPENS AS I AM SHIFTING FROM FIRST TO SECOND GEAR, WHEN I TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE GAS THEN PUSH IN THE CLUTCH AND SHIFT GEAR AND RELEASE THE CLUTCH, THE COMPUTER DOES NOT RESPOND TO MY FOOT COMING OFF THE THROTTLE. THE TRUCK CONTINUES TO ACCELERATE EVEN WITH MY FOOT OFF OF THE THROTTLE. THE ONLY WAY TO STOP THE ACCELERATION IS TO REPEATEDLY TAP THE PEDAL UNTIL IT RELEASES. THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED I THOUGHT THAT I MIGHT HAVE INADVERTENTLY HIT THE CRUISE CONTROL BUT THIS IS NOT THE CASE. IT SEEMS THAT I NEED TO ALLOW APPROXIMATELY A ONE SECOND DELAY FROM WHEN I REMOVE MY FOOT FROM THE THROTTLE UNTIL I PUSH IN THE CLUTCH TO AVOID THIS SITUATION. MY HUSBAND'S BRAKE LIGHTS WENT OUT ON HIS 2009 GMC CANYON. HE TOOK IT TO A DEALER TO HAVE IT FIXED. WE READ ONLINE THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR HIS BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH. THEY CHECKED HIS VIN AND SAID THERE WASN'T ANYTHING. IT ISN'T THE BULBS, FUSE, ETC. THEY "FIXED" IT AND SAID "IT'LL EITHER WORK FOR THE NEXT 5 MIN OR IT WON'T WORK AT ALL." AND HANDED HIM THE KEYS. HE DROVE IT AND SURE ENOUGH, THE LIGHTS WENT OUT, AGAIN. HE TOOK IT BACK AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED. "IT MAY OR MAY NOT WORK, YADA YADA..." WHY WOULD THEY HAND THEM THE KEYS PLUS ALLOW IT PASS FOR INSPECTION IF IT DOES NOT WORK? AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED, THE WORK HAS NOT BEEN COMPLETED. MY HUSBAND RECENTLY GOT OUT OF THE USMC AND HAS YET TO FIND WORK. WE CANNOT AFFORD TO KEEP TAKING IT BACK OR YET PAY FOR A TICKET!!!! *TR
ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM WOULD NOT ALLOW THE TRUCK TO START, THEN ONCE STARTED THE ENTIRE DASHBOARD COMPONENTS FAILED NO SPEEDOMETER, FUEL, TEMP OR AIR CONDITIONER WOULD WORK, ALSO THE TRACTION CONTROL WENT INTO ALARM... GMC PEOPLE SAID THEY COULD NOT SEE ANY ALARM CODES AND FAILED TO REPAIR THE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM... RECOMMENDED I GET ON-STAR TO HELP IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM.. I DID, IT FAILED AGAIN AND ON-STAR SAW THE CODES HOWEVER GMC SAYS THEY CANNOT TRUST ON-STAR FINDINGS, EVEN THOUGH THEY RECOMMENDED THEM WHICH IS COSTING ME $30.00 A MONTH TO MONITOR THEIR VEHICLES WARRANTY.. STILL DRIVING A TRUCK THAT SOMETIMES DOES NOT START AND THE ENTIRE DASHBOARD SHUTS DOWN WHILE DRIVING... VERY DANGEROUS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 GMC CANYON. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 65 MPH WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE FUEL CONTROL MODULAR WOULD NEED REPLACING. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 09V154000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE) AND WAS ADVISED THAT HIS VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED WITH THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 105,000.
WAS DRIVING SLOWLY IN A PARKING LOT AND WAS STARTING THE TURN INTO A PARKING STALL WHEN THE STEERING BECAME VERY DIFFICULT AND THE VEHICLE HAD DIFFICULTY MOVING FORWARD. TRANSMISSION HAD GONE INTO 4X4 LOW WITHOUT ANYONE PUSHING THE BUTTON ON THE DASH. I HAD A 2007 CANYON AND IT DID THE SAME THING ABOUT 3 TIMES WHILE DRIVING IN A PARKADE. WHEN I CONTACTED THE DEALER THERE COMMENT WAS TO BRING IT IN WHILE THE INCIDENT IS OCCURRING. WHEN I DID TAKE THE 2007 IN FOR SERVICE THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING. I WILL MENTION THE INCIDENT ON 2009 WHEN IT GOES IN FOR ITS NEXT SERVICE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 GMC CANYON. WHEN SHE SLIGHTLY STRUCK THE GEAR SHIFTER AT 20 MPH THE GEAR SHIFTED FROM "DRIVE" INTO THE "REVERSE" GEAR. SHE WAS ABLE TO REGAIN VEHICLE CONTROL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE TECHNICIAN COULD NOT IDENTIFY THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,400. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 3,700.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 GMC CANYON. WHILE PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE AT 10 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL EXTENDED TO THE FLOOR WHEN IT WAS DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT BELIEVED THAT THERE WAS AIR IN THE BRAKE LINE, AND THAT THE AIR SHOULD BE BLED FROM THE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT OTHER VEHICLES WERE EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE AND BLEEDING THE AIR OUT OF THE HYDRAULIC BRAKING SYSTEM WOULD NOT REPAIR THE FAILURE. THE MECHANIC FURTHER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS DESIGNED TO OPERATE IN THAT MANNER. CURRENTLY, THE BRAKES CONTINUE TO FAIL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 955. UPDATED 07/01/09 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED BELOW THE GAS PEDAL, THE BRAKE DID NOT GO ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. THE CONSUMER STATED ON 6 OCCASIONS, WHEN THE BRAKE WAS APPLIED, HIS FOOT WOULD ALSO PRESS THE ACCELERATOR. UPDATED 07/06/09.*JB
