MY AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT IS ON. MY MECHANIC NOTICED A RECALL, CAMPAIGN ID R0807, BUT THE RECALL ONLY AFFECTS VEHICLES REGISTERED IN 'SALT' STATES. I LIVE IN VA BUT TRAVELED EXTENSIVELY IN PA, MARYLAND, DC FOR WORK FOR MANY YEARS. SINCE MY VEHICLE IS EXPERIENCING THE FAILURE THAT THE RECALL WAS ISSUED FOR, MY VEHICLE SHOULD BE COVERED AS PART OF THE RECALL. THE RECALL SHOULD BE EXTENDED TO BORDERING STATES TO ACCOUNT FOR FREQUENT TRAVEL ACROSS STATE LINES.
MY AIRBAG LIGHT IS FLASHING AND THE FRONT AIR BAG CRASH ZONE SENSOR NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THERE IS A RECALL IN EFFECT, BUT ONLY FOR VEHICLES IN 'SALT' STATES. MY VEHICLE IS REGISTERED IN VA, BUT I TRAVELED IN PA, MD, AND DC FOR SEVERAL YEARS FOR WORK, SO MY VEHICLE SHOULD BE COVERED ON THE EXISTING WARRANTY RECALL.
THIS IS A FOLLOW UP TO AN ALREADY FILED CLAIM. COMPLAINT # 11331805 CLAIM # [XXX]. DEALERSHIP NEVER INFORMED ME THAT THE WAY TO FIX THE AIRBAG ON MY 2009 NISSAN FRONTIER PRO 4X WAS TO REPLACE EACH PART UNTIL THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY. NISSAN HAS A VERY INTERESTING WAY TO FIX SOMETHING EVEN AFTER THE COMPUTER DIAGNOSTIC TEST. INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
THE DRIVER AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A NISSAN DEALER. IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE AIR BAG MODULE WAS BAD. THE DEALER INFORMED ME THAT THE AIR BAG IS A TAKATA. VEHICLE IS A 2009 FRONTIER PRO 4X WITH 117,000 MILES. CONTACTED NISSAN AND WAS INFORMED THAT VEHICLE MILEAGE AND AGE DOES NOT WARRANT ANY ASSISTANCE FROM NISSAN IN MAKING THE REPAIR. THERE WAS A RECALL ON TAKAT AIR BAGS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 NISSAN FRONTIER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE HER HUSBAND WAS DRIVING 55 MPH, THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE AIR BAG NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE HOWEVER, THERE WAS NO ASSISTANCE PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 175,000.
MY CONTROL ARMS ARE WORN AND I ONLY HAVE 55,000 MILES ON MY TRUCK. MY TIRES ARE WEARING AND THE FRONT END POPS, AND IT PULLS TO THE RIGHT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 NISSAN FRONTIER. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE CONTACT DETECTED SMOKE UNDERNEATH THE HOOD. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO KING WINDWARD NISSAN (45-568 KAMEHAMEHA HWY, KANEOHE, HI 96744, (808) 235-6433) WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE RADIATOR, TRANSMISSION, AND ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
2009 NISAN FRONTIER 114K MILES SAME SINGS AS MANY OTHERS VIBRATION WHEN SHIFTING FROM 3RD TO 4TH GEAR START HAPPENING IN THE MORNING SPECIAL WINTER PROGRESSIVELY GETTING WORSE AND NOW HAPPENS ALL THE TIME.
NISSAN FRONTIERS OF ARE EXPERENCING MANY PROBLEMS WITH THEIR EMISSION SYSTEMS. EVAP CONTROL VALUES ARE FAILING AT VARIOUS MILEAGES. THE DEALERS BLAME DUST IN THE SYSTEM. THE DEALERS ARE CHARGING VERY HIGH PRICES TO REPAIR THE SYSTEM. NISSAN HAS ALREADY CHANGED THE EVAP CONTROL VENT SWITCH DESIGN 3 TIMES. THIS MEANS THEY KNOW THEY HAVE A PROBLEM AND ARE REFUSING TO RECALL THE TRUCKS.
MY AIRBAG LIGHT IS FLASHING ON MY DASHBOARD. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF DRIVING MY VEHICLE WITH THIS WARNING.
MY 09 NISSAN FRONTIER SE (AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION) GRINDED A BIT WHEN CHANGING GEARS. I NOTICED IT WAS BETWEEN 3RD AND 4TH GEARS. SOMETIMES IT WAS LOUDER AND LONGER THAN OTHER TIMES. SOMETIMES IT DIDN'T HAPPEN AT ALL. I NOTICED IT HAPPENS WHEN I ACCELERATED SLOWLY WITH THE GAS ONLY SLIGHTLY PRESSED. IT DIDN'T HAPPEN AT ALL WHEN ACCELERATING TO GET ON THE FREEWAY, FOR EXAMPLE.I HAD PURCHASED MY FRONTIER AS A USED TRUCK WITH ABOUT 113K MILES ON IT FROM THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP IN EVERETT, WA AND NOTHING WAS SAID OF ANY TRANSMISSION ISSUES (AS YOU'D EXPECT FROM A DEALER). ONLY ABOUT 3 WEEKS LATER AFTER PURCHASING IT THE TRANSMISSION STARTED DOING VERY STRANGE THINGS. WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE ROAD, MY TRUCK WAS SHIFTING LIKE NORMAL. HOWEVER, ALL OF A SUDDEN WHEN SHIFTING TO THE NEXT GEAR I HEARD AND FELT A LOUD THUMP FROM THE ENGINE, THEN THE TRUCK SOUNDED LIKE IT WAS IN A VERY HIGH GEAR AND THE ENGINE WOULD REV VERY LOUDLY WHILE I PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL, BUT MY TRUCK WASN'T ACCELERATING AT ALL. IT SEEMED LIKE THE CAR WAS IN NEUTRAL. I HAD TO PULL OVER ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TURN OFF MY TRUCK, THEN RESTART T TO DRIVE AGAIN. HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM CONTINUED BUT THIS TIME IT WAS AFTER I HAD GOTTEN ON THE FREEWAY. IT WOULD HAPPEN AFTER ACCELERATING AND SHIFTING ALL THROUGH EACH GEAR (AROUND THE 4TH/5TH GEAR RANGE). I HAD TO PULL OVER 2 MORE TIMES BEFORE FINALLY GETTING TO WORK.
FAULTY AIRBAG SENSOR. AIRBAG LIGHT CONTINUOUSLY BLINKS, DIAGNOSTIC TEST REVEALED CENTER CRASH ZONE SENSOR IS FAULTY. BEING TOLD THAT MY VEHICLE IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL FOR THE SAME PROBLEM, DESPITE BEING AN INCLUDED MODEL/YEAR AND BEING DRIVEN IN AN INCLUDED STATE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN FRONTIER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DEALER HAD REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY THREE YEARS AGO AND THAT THE FAILURE REOCCURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED A SECOND TIME. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 92,000.
THE NUTS ON THE AIR SENSORS ON TIRES CORRODED AND CRACKED . THIS IS THE SAME PROBLEM WHICH LED TO A NISSAN RECALL OF 2008-09 MURANOS AND FIT MODELS. ( LIVING IN MARYLAND FROM 2009 UNTIL 2015)
MY WIFE AND I OWN NISSAN VEHICLES. 2 YEARS AGO WE HAD TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION ON HER 2005 PATHFINER. IN OCTOBER OF 2015 MY 2009 FRONTIER TRANSMISSION STARTED TO FAIL BECAUSE OF COOLANT MIXING WITH THE TRANSMISSION FLUID. I DID RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH NISSAN
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 NISSAN FRONTIER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 20 MPH, AN ABNORMAL NOISE WAS HEARD FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED CONSTANTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE RINGING PINION HAD FAILED AND THE REAR END ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,709.
TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REBUILT DUE TO MANUFACTURING DEFECT AFTER ONLY 64,000 MILES. RADIATOR FLUID HAS LEAKED INTO THE TRANSMISSION OIL WHICH IS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT. QUOTED $4200 IN REPAIRS-THEY WILL NEED TO RE-MANUFACTURE THE TRANSMISSION AND REPLACE THE AT VALVE. I REACHED OUT TO NISSAN FOR ASSISTANCE IN THE MATTER SINCE I AM JUST OUTSIDE OF THE 5 YR 75,000 MILE EXTENDED WARRANTY (5 MONTHS OVER 5 YRS). THEY ADVISED THIS IS NOT SOMETHING THEY WILL HELP WITH. WHEN I ASKED IF THIS IS A NORMAL OCCURRENCE FOR NISSAN TRANSMISSIONS TO NEED TO BE REPAIRED AT 64K THE REGIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE MANAGER SIMPLY STATED HE IS NOT A MECHANIC. AT 40MPH, THE VEHICLE JUMPED OUT OF GEAR WHILE DRIVING. I HAD NO POWER AND NEEDED TO PULL OVER. THIS PUT MY PROPERTY AND WELL BEING IN SEVERE DANGER. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO GET OVER WITHOUT INCIDENT, BUT THIS MAY NOT BE THE CASE FOR SOMEONE ELSE. THIS IS CLEARLY A MANUFACTURING FLAW AND NEEDS TO BE HANDLED RESPONSIBLY BY NISSAN. EXTEND MY WARRANTY AND FIX THE TRANSMISSION FREE OF CHARGE. *TR
ON JULY 8, 2014 MY A/C STOPPED WORKING. I TOOK IT TO A LOCAL DEALER WHO LATER INFORMED ME THAT COMPRESSOR LOCKED UP AND SHOT METAL PARTICLES THROUGHOUT THE A/C SYSTEM. I HAD TO HAVE THE ENTIRE A/C SYSTEM REPLACED. NISSAN REFUSED TO REIMBURSE MY $2500 EXPENSE BECAUSE VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY. PLEASE, INVESTIGATE HOW THE ENTIRE A/C SYSTEM WOULD FAIL ON AN 82,000-MILE VEHICLE OF A RESPECTABLE BRAND LIKE NISSAN. *TR
THE BRAKE PEDALS TRAVELS FURTHER DOWN THAN TOP OF ACCELERATOR PEDAL. IN WINTER WHEN WEARING WINTER BOOTS I HAD TO MAKE AN QUICK STOP TO AVOID A PEDESTRIAN CROSSING THE STREET ON A CROSSWALK. I FOUND MYSELF DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL AND ACCELERATOR AT SAME TIME NEARLY HITTING PERSON. THERE HAVE BEEN OTHER INCIDENTS NOT AS SERIOUS. I CALLED DEALER AND NISSAN WITH NO SATISFACTION. I ALSO ASKED NON-DEALER SHOPS AND THEY SAID THAT NOTHING WAS WRONG AS FAR AS THEY COULD SEE. MY CONCLUSION IS THAT THIS IS A DESIGN PROBLEM. THE BRAKE PEDAL, IN AN EMERGENCY, SHOULD NOT TRAVEL THAT FAR DOWN. [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR
TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR - STAYED ON AFTER VEHICLE WAS SERVICED AT DEALER FOR 75,000 MI CHECK UP WHICH INCLUDED EXTENSIVE REVIEW OF ALL VEHICLE SYSTEMS. AFTER CHECKING COLD PRESSURE SEVERAL TIMES AND DRIVING VEHICLE FOR SEVERAL DAYS TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR WOULD NOT GO OFF. RETURNED TO DEALER AND REQUESTED THE PROBLEM BE FIXED. THEY WERE HELPFUL AND POLITE BUT TRIED TO CHARGE ME $160.75 FOR REPLACING THE MONITOR BECAUSE THE BATTERY WENT OUT IN THE MONITOR. I AM COMPLAINING THAT I SHOULD NOT HAVE SPEND $160 FOR EACH TIRE MONITOR BECAUSE IT'S BATTERY EXPIRED. THE BATTERIES SHOULD BE REPLACEABLE IN THE TIRE MONITOR. I THINK IT'S UNFAIR AND POOR DESIGN TO REQUIRE NISSAN OWNERS TO SPEND $640 OVER TIME TO KEEP AN IMPORTANT SAFETY FEATURE OPERATIONAL. THIS SYSTEM NEEDS TO BE REDESIGNED TO REFLECT A MUCH LESS EXPENSIVE(REPLACEABLE BATTERY) REPLACEMENT PART OR REPLACE THE MONITORS FREE OF CHARGE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 NISSAN FRONTIER. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 35 MPH WHEN THE BRAKES FAILED AFTER BEING DEPRESSED AND THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A LAMP POST. THE CRASH CAUSED NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHERE THE MECHANIC CONFIRMED THAT THE FRONT LOWER CONTROL ARM WAS DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 74,435. UPDATED 04/11/12*LJ UPDATED 06/13/2012 *JS
WHILE DRIVING, SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT APPEARED WITH CODE P0448. AFTER CODE APPEARED, CANNOT FILL UP GAS TANK WITHOUT GAS SPILLING OUT. CALLED DEALER AND THEY SAID THIS IS UNRELATED. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN FRONTIER. THE CONTACT STATED THE FUEL LEVEL INDICATOR FAILED IN OCTOBER 2008 AND A LOCAL INDEPENDENT MECHANIC REPLACED THE FUEL GAUGE TANK. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED THERE WAS A RECALL IN EFFECT FOR THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS TOLD HIS VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AND HE WOULD BE REIMBURSED FOR THE FAILURE. LATER, HE RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 10V075000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE: STORAGE: AUXILLARY TANK) AND TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER. THE DEALER INSTALLED AN O-RING AND THE FUEL SENDING UNIT. THE CONTACT WAS NOT REIMBURSED FOR THE INITIAL REPAIR AND WHEN CONTACTING THE MANUFACTURER, HE WAS TOLD AN AGENT WOULD CONTACT HIM AT A LATER DATE IN REGARDS TO REIMBURSEMENT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 31,247 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 32,000.
WEAK CLUTCH 2009 NISSAN FRONTIER SE 4X4 4.0 LITRE, 6 SPEED MAN TRANSMISSION. 10,331 MILES AND CLUTCH SLIPS IN 3RD, 4TH, 5TH, 6TH AND LITTLE NO ENGAGEMENT IN REVERSE. SLIPS ON SUDDEN ACCELERATION. MANUFACTURER ALWAYS BLAME CUSTOMER'S ON FAULT. TRUCK WAS NOT ABUSED BY ME. MANUFACTURER IS NOT ADMITTING FAILURE. IF YOU SEARCH FOR NISSAN FRONTIER CLUTCH PROBLEMS ON THE INTERNET, YOU WILL SEE, THAT THE SAME POWERPLANT BELONGS TO A 2006 NISSAN XTERRA AND AT 13,000 AND THE 24,000 THIS PERSON HAD TO REPLACE THE CLUTCH AS WELL AS SLIPS. 2ND ISSUE, THE BRAKES ASSEMBLED ON MY TRUCK WERE MISSING ON BOTH LEFT AND RIGHT SIDE FRONT BRAKE PAD RETAINER SPRINGS. BRAKES PULL RIGHT AND DAMAGED RT ROTOR. REQUIRED MACHINE SHOP TO REPAIR LATERAL OUT OF ROUND. POSSIBLE CAUSE IS MISSING LOWER RETAINERS SPRINGS AND NOW DEVELOPED INTO STICKING CALIPERS. 3RD ISSUE. RATTLE NOISE FROM SUSPENSION AREA ON UNEVEN ROAD SURFACES OR MANHOLE LIDS AT SLOW SPEEDS. UNABLE TO LOCATE CAUSE WITH SUSPENSION BOTH LOADED AND UNLOADED. HAVE USED EVEN RUBBER MALLET TO NO AVAIL. *TR
MY 2009 NISSAN FRONTIER CAME WITH A FULL SIZE SPARE TIRE THAT HAD NO SENSOR FOR THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM. THIS MEANS THAT, WHEN I ROTATED THE TIRES, THE TPM SYSTEM LIT UP AND STAYED ON. FURTHER, THE SYSTEM WILL STAY ON 80% OF THE TIME, WHICH IS THE AMOUNT OF TIME THAT THE SPARE WILL BE ON THE GROUND DURING THE LIFE OF THE TIRES. IT WILL BE IN THE SPARE POSITION ONLY 20% OF THE TIME. IT SEEMS THAT ADDING A SENSOR TO THE SPARE SHOULD GREATLY INCREASE SAFETY WITH ONLY A SLIGHT INCREASE IN COST PER VEHICLE. [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR
THE SUNVISOR ON THE DRIVERS SIDE OF MY 2009 NISSAN FRONTIER DOES NOT STAY IN PLACE. IT HAS FALLEN NUMEROUS TIMES BLOCKING MY VISION WHEN DRIVING IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. ADDITIONALLY, WHEN THE SUNVISOR IS DOWN IT VIBRATES AT YOUR EYE LEVEL AND SEVERELY DISTRACTS THE DRIVER. NOW, I AM ALWAYS WATCHING THE SUNVISOR TO MAKE SURE IT DOES NOT BLOCK MY VISION. NOTE: I HAD THE DRIVERS SIDE SUNVISOR REPLACED WHEN THE TRUCK WAS ABOUT TWO MONTHS OLD. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 NISSAN FRONTIER. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO CHANGE THE SPARE TIRE, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE JACK WOULD NOT RAISE THE VEHICLE HIGH ENOUGH TO REPLACE IT. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN INSPECTED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 31,000.
TAIL GATE FALLS OFF WHEN OPENING. THE REMOVABLE TAILGATE IS BOTH LIGHT ENOUGH AND DOES NOT HAVE A CATCH ON THE HINGE TO PREVENT THE GATE FROM FALLING OUT WHEN LIFTING UP ON THE TAILGATE LATCH WITH ONE HAND. THIS CAN ALSO HAPPEN IF THERE IS ANY SNOW ON THE BACK BUMPER. THIS IS BOTH A SAFETY CONCERN, AS I HAD THE GATE FALL OFF WITH A LOAD OF WOOD IN MY HANDS CAUSING ME TO DROP EVERYTHING, AND IT DAMAGES THE VEHICLE AS THE TAILGATE RIGHT REAR CORNER GETS CAUGHT IN THE BODY MOUNTED HINGE. THE RESULT OF THIS IS THE RIGHT REAR CORNER OF THE TAILGATE IS BENT ~90. I HAVE TAKEN THIS BACK TO THE DEALER 2 TIMES FOR THE PROBLEM AND FILED A REPORT WITH NISSAN USA. BOTH NISSAN AND THE DEALER CLAIM THIS IS A DESIGN FEATURE - REMOVABLE TAILGATE. IN OBSERVING OTHER FRONTIERS, IT IS APPARENT THAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE THIS PROBLEM JUDGING BY THE NUMBER OF DAMAGED TAILGATES ARE OUT THERE. EVERYONE I WORK WITH THAT OWNS A FRONTIER HAS HAD THE GATE FALL OFF. IN LOOKING ONLINE - IT APPEARS TO AFFECT NISSAN FRONTIER TRUCKS BACK TO 2005. MINE FELL OFF 3 DAYS AFTER TAKING DELIVERY DAMAGING THE TAILGATE, AND DOES EVERY TIME YOU OPEN IT IF YOU DON'T USE 2 HANDS, ONE TO LIFT UP THE LATCH, ONE TO HOLD THE GATE IN THE HINGES. I HAVE OWNED 3 TRUCKS, INCLUDING A 2001 NISSAN FRONTIER FOR A PERIOD OF 7 YEARS. I AM AWARE THAT TAILGATES ARE REMOVABLE AND THAT YOU MUST CLEAN DEBRIS OFF THE BUMPER PRIOR TO OPENING THEM. I WAS NOT AWARE THE TAILGATE SHOULD FALL OUT OF IT'S HINGES WHEN OPENING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 NISSAN FRONTIER. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 55 MPH WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL WOULD FALL ONTO THE FLOORBOARD WHEN DEPRESSING EITHER THE BRAKE OR ACCELERATOR PEDALS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT WOULD OFFER NO ASSISTANCE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS IN POSSESSION OF THE DEALER AND WAS AWAITING A RESOLUTION TO THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,500 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 9,400. UPDATED 08/17/10*JB

THE CONTACT STATED THAT SOMETIMES HE ACCIDENTALLY DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WHEN HE WAS TRYING TO APPLY THE BRAKES BECAUSE THE PEDALS ARE SO CLOSE TO ONE ANOTHER. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 9600. UPDATED 4/28/10 *CN UPDATED 06/14/10.*JB
THE ABS SYSTEM ON THE 2009 NISSAN FRONTIER MALFUNCTIONS ANY TIME FULL BRAKING IS REQUIRED WHEN ANY SNOW COVER IS ON THE ROAD SURFACE. WHEN DEPRESSING THE BRAKE DURING THOSE CONDITIONS, YOU MUST ANTICIPATE A STOP AND SLOW SPEED THROUGH THE ACCELERATOR TO COAST TO A STOP. IF YOU DEPRESS THE BRAKE TO FULL OR NEAR THE BRAKES START TO JUMP (FELT THROUGH THE FOOT PEDAL AND STEERING WHEEL) MAKING AN AUDIBLE NOISE AND THE VEHICLE SLIDES UNCONTROLLED. FOLLOWING PURCHASE OF THE VEHICLE IN LATE 2008 AND AFTER NUMEROUS INCIDENTS ON LIGHT TO HEAVY SNOWY CONDITIONS I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO BUCKEYE NISSAN IN JANUARY 2009 WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED. I INSISTED THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN RIDE WITH ME THROUGH THE SNOWY PARKING LOT TO TEST SO HE COULD UNDERSTAND THE SITUATION. AFTER WE TESTED THE BRAKING SYSTEM, HE TOLD ME THIS WAS "NORMAL WITH ABS SYSTEMS". I HAVE 4 VEHICLES, ALL WITH ABS AND NOTHING CAN COME CLOSE TO THIS. I CANNOT BELIEVE THIS IS "NORMAL". A VERY SCARY AND DANGEROUS SITUATION. I HAVE NO DOUBT THAT IF YOU HAD TO SUDDENLY APPLY THE BRAKES, THE VEHICLE WOULD CRASH AND/OR ROLL OVER. I HAVE WANTED TO GO TO A DEALERSHIP AND TEST DRIVE A SIMILAR VEHICLE WHEN THE CONDITIONS ARE COMPARABLE, HOWEVER, I DO NOT LIVE IN AN AREA WHERE A DEALER IS NEARBY AND HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO TRAVEL OUT OF TOWN TO PERFORM A COMPARISON ON MY OWN. I DO NOT KNOW IF THIS IS AN ISOLATED INCIDENT WITH DEFECTIVE BRAKES, OR IF THIS IS INDEED "STANDARD" FOR THIS MODEL. IF IT IS THE STANDARD, DEFINITELY NEEDS ATTENTION. *TR
MR. , PRESIDENT & CEO NISSAN MOTOR CO., LTD. P.O. BOX 685003 FRANKLIN TN 37064 DEAR SIR; I AM WRITING TO YOU TODAY TO COMPLAIN ABOUT A PROBLEM WITH MY 2006 NISSAN FRONTIER CLUB CAB. A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO AT ABOUT 54000 MILES MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, AND THE GAS GAUGE STARTED TO MALFUNCTION. I HAD MY PERSONAL MECHANIC CHECK THE CODES, AND IT CAME BACK AS A FAILED FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT. I CALLED MY LOCAL DEALER WHERE I PURCHASED IT AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS NOT GOING TO BE COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY. IT WOULD BE COVERED IF IT WAS THE FUEL PUMP UNDER THE DRIVE TRAIN BUT IT WAS THE FUEL PUMP, BUT THE SENSOR THAT WAS BAD. I THINK THAT IS A VERY BAD BUSINESS DECISION CONSIDERING THE CURRENT BUSINESS CLIMATE. I HAVE BEEN A VERY LOYAL NISSAN CUSTOMER FOR THE PAST 25 YEARS STARTING WITH MY FIRST NEW PICKUP IN 1985, I THEN HAD TWO 1987 SENTRA'S, THEN A 300 ZX, AND NOW MY FRONTIER CLUB CAB. I HAVE BEEN EXTREMELY HAPPY WITH ALL UP UNTIL NOW! I HAVE NOW DONE MUCH RESEARCH ON THE ISSUE, INCLUDING YOUR TECHNICAL BULLETIN NTB07-069A. WHERE YOU STATE'DEALER SHOULD REPLACE THE PART AND FILE CLAIM UNDER PFP OR PRIMARY FAILED PART.... ONE COULD REASON IT SAYS PRIMARY AND HENCE IS COVERED AS PART OF FUEL PUMP AND NISSAN WILL REIMBURSE THE DEALER'. I WOULD VERY MUCH APPRECIATE YOUR ASSISTANCE WITH THIS PERPLEXING PROBLEM. NISSAN HAS A GREAT REPUTATION, AND I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY NO RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED. I CAN BE REACHED AT OR AT OR BY EMAIL AT OR AT MY HOME ADDRESS: KEVIN THANK YOU FOR YOUR ANTICIPATED HELP! *TR SINCERELY CC: B.B.B. NHTSA CONSUMER REPORTS S.C. ATTORNEYS GENERALS OFFICE
"I HAD 1/4 OF A TANK OF GAS AND WENT TO FILL UP. AFTER FILLING UP MY GAS TANK, I TURNED ON THE CAR, AT WHICH POINT THE NEEDLE DID NOT REGISTER THE FULL TANK. AFTER DRIVING A COUPLE MILES, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I WENT DIRECTLY TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS A FUEL SENDING UNIT/SENSOR AND THAT IT WAS NO LONGER COVERED AFTER 30K MILES. AFTER RETURNING HOME AND DOING RESEARCH, I WENT ONLINE TO X.NISSANHELP.COM AFTER PERFORMING A SEARCH, I CAME ACROSS MANY OTHERS WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM. APPARENTLY IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE FUEL SENDING UNIT. A SIMILAR PROBLEM WAS FOUND ON THE 2000-2004 XTERRA MODELS AND A RECALL WAS PERFORMED WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD STOP AFTER NOT GETTING ANY FUEL, POSING A GREAT DANGER. IT SEEMS THAT SOMETHING IN THE UNIT IS FAULTY AND WILL CORRODE OVER TIME. THERE IS A GENERAL CONSENSUS THAT EVERYONE WHO IS HAVING THE PROBLEM IS EXPERIENCING THE SAME THING AFTER HAVING THE VEHICLE FOR OVER 2 YRS AND WITH AROUND 39K-49K. IF THIS PROBLEM EXISTED IN PREVIOUS MODELS, AND IT WAS RECALLED, THE 2005-2007 XTERRAS, FRONTIERS, AND PATHFINDERS SHOULD GET THIS FIXED AT NO CHARGE TO THE CUSTOMER!! WHY WAIT FOR ACCIDENTS AND POSSIBLE DEATHS, ESPECIALLY SINCE THE PROBLEM LIES IN AN INTEGRAL PART OF THE VEHICLE. COST OF REPAIR RANGES FROM $300-600." *TR
