AUDI Q5 94,000. I WILL NEVER NEVER BUY AUDI VEHICLE AGAIN. FIRST STARTED WITH OIL LEAK, REPLACED VALVE COVER GASKET, THEN HOOD LATCH SENSOR (GERMAN GENIUS). HOW IN THE WORLD THIS BAD SENSOR MEASURES OIL LEVEL. RACK AND PINION LEAK, THEN TIMING COVER GASKET LEAK. THEN MY MECHANIC REPLACED DRIVER SIDE UPPER CONTROL ARM. NOW REAR SHOCK IS BAD. ALREADY SPENT OVER $3000 FINE, THE WORST ISSUE I HAVE IS TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT. THE DEALER (STEALER) GAVE ME ESTIMATE OF $1700 TO FIX THIS. THE LAST SERIOUS ONE ON 12/23/20 WHILE DRIVING WITH 2 MORE PASSENGERS ON BUSY ARE IN HOUSTON NEAR MED.CENTER, CAR ENGINE LOST POWER, SHAKING VIOLENTLY, THEN I DROVE VERY SLOWLY AT AROUND 30 MPH. THIS IS AUDI Q5 IS NIGHTMARE. NHTSA PLEASE DO SOMETHING, MAKE AUDI SETTLE THESE ISSUES. THANK YOU.

MY 2011 AUDI Q5 WOULD NOT START ONE MORNING WHEN TRYING TO START THE CAR IN MY GARAGE (DEC 2019). I HAD IT TOWED TO THE FLETCHER JONES AUDI DEALERSHIP IN CHICAGO IL WHERE I HAVE BEEN A LOYAL CUSTOMER SINCE MOVING HERE IN 2014. THEY PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC AND IDENTIFIED THAT THE TIMING CHAIN TENSIONER HAD SLIPPED, AND MAY HAVE CAUSED "CATASTROPHIC" FAILURE TO MY ENGINE. THEY PROCEEDED TO ASK FOR ANOTHER $1,500 TO DIAGNOSE THE ENGINE FOR THE FAILURE, AND MENTIONED IF IF HAD FAILED IT COULD BE UP TO $10,000 TO FIX THE PROBLEM. AFTER A SHORT BIT OF RESEARCH, IT TURNS OUT THERE IS A WARRANTY THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ISSUED FOR THIS PROBLEM AND AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. MY DEALERSHIP NEVER TOLD ME THIS, AND WAS JUST EXPECTING ME TO PAY OUT OF POCKET. ALSO, I HAD MY CAR SERVICED THERE 4 DIFFERENT TIMES SINCE THE RECALL HAD BEEN ANNOUNCED. THEY NEVER ONCE INFORMED ME OF THIS. I CALLED TO ASK WHY THEY HADN'T MENTIONED THIS WARRANTY OR THIS ISSUE, AND THERE WAS NOT A GOOD ANSWER. FLETCHER JONES ALSO SAID THEY CHECK MY VIN EVERY TIME I BRING IT IN TO SEE IF THERE IS ANYTHING OUTSTANDING REGARDING RECALLS ETC ON THE CAR, WHICH MEANS THEY COULD HAVE ALERTED ME TO THIS MULTIPLE TIMES WHEN I BROUGHT THE CAR IN PRIOR, BUT THEY DID NOT. THEY COULD HAVE PREVENTED THIS ISSUE. FAST FORWARD TO NOW, AUDI WILL ONLY COVER 25% OF THE ISSUE, AND FLETCHER JONES IS BARELY MAKING AN EFFORT TO HELP OUT ON THEIR END. I WILL BE OUT NEARLY $5,000 TO REPAIR THIS PROBLEM, WHICH IS NO FAULT OF MINE AND A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OF ENGINEERING ON THE PART OF AUDI. IT ISN'T RIGHT THAT AUDI DOES NOT FULLY COVER THIS EXPENSE. AND MOREOVER, THE DEALERSHIP SHOULD HAVE A DUTY OF CARE TO DISCLOSE THEM ITEMS SUCH THAT WE CAN TAKE THE STEPS TO PREVENT THEM. FLETCHER JONES DID WRONG BY ME BY NOT DISCLOSING THIS, AND IS LIKELY DEFRAUDING AND MANIPULATING MORE CLIENTS EVERY DAY THEY REMAIN IN OPERATION.

JUST TOOK IN AND THEY SAID IT WAS THE LEFT SIDE TIMING BELT AND $6,100 TO FIX. WHAT TROUBLES ME IS THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE SAME YEAR AUDI BUT ONLY FOR THE 2.0. MY CAR IS APPARENTLY THE ONLY 3.2 LITER HAVING THIS ISSUE. NO RECALL? IT OCCURRED AT THE SAME MOMENT IN TIME, AROUND 65,000 MILES. WHILE I WAS APPEASED SLIGHTLY BY THEM OFFERING TO FIX IT FOR PARTS COST..... ABOUT $3,300, AND THE SUBSEQUENT BILL WAS A SURPRISING (TO THE GOOD) BILL OF $2327.25 INCLUDING THE NECESSARY OIL CHANGE, I JUST QUESTION THE FACT THAT THERE IS NO PENDING RECALL ON THE AUDI Q5 3.2 LITER. AND UNFORTUNATELY STILL A SUSPICIOUS COST. EVERYTHING WAS DONE AMICABLY, AS TIME WAS OF THE ESSENCE. BUT STILL FEEL SHORTED THAT MY 3.2 DOESN'T FALL INTO THIS RECALL.

WHAT I'M COMPLAINING ABOUT NOW IS I'VE CONTACTED AUDI USA AND THEY HAVE STRING US ALONG FOR ALMOST A YEAR GOING BACK-AND-FORTH TO DIFFERENT AUDI DEALERSHIPS AND GETTING DIFFERENT RESPONSES OR DIFFERENT DIAGNOSIS OF WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE CAR. RECENTLY WE HAD OUR AUDI Q5 2011 FULLY DIAGNOSED AND NOW WE COME TO A WHOLE NEW DILEMMA AND MALFUNCTION OF OUR VEHICLE. WE KNEW THE FUEL INJECTORS WERE GOING BAD BECAUSE OF THE WIRING WHICH WAS NOT PROPERLY INSTALLED FOR THE FUEL PUMP WHICH CAUSED THE ALTERNATOR ALSO TO GO BAD AND THE SENSORS AND NOT TO FORGET ABOUT THE SPARK PLUGS AND COILS. WE THOUGHT WE FINALLY WERE GOING TO GET OUR CAR FIXED AT NO CHARGE TO US EVEN THOUGH WE I KNEW THAT OUR WARRANTEE WAS OUTDATED, BUT WE THOUGHT MAYBE SINCE THE RECALL HAD A LOT TO DO WITH IT AUDI WOULD TAKE CARE OF IT. WELL ALMOST A YEAR AND GUESS WHAT AUDI DECLINED THE WORK OF REPLACING THE FUEL INJECTORS. FROM THAT POINT ON, IT DISPLAYED THIS MESSAGE ALMOST CONTINUOUSLY, BEING THE WORST IN THE MORNING, ALSO LOSING REVERSE GEAR. I DO A LOT OF HWY DRIVING AND ALWAYS WORRY IF I WILL GET KILLED BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC AS IT HAS STALLED ON ME WHILE ENTERING THE HWY ALSO. THE ENGINE HAS LEAKED OIL THE ENTIRE TIME. 3 YEARS AGO AUDI REPLACED THE PISTONS DUE TO A DESIGN DEFECT (THEY PAID FOR IT). 4 DAYS BEFORE MY REGULARLY SCHEDULED SERVICE APPOINTMENT MY ENGINE DIED WHILE DRIVING IT HOME FROM WORK THROUGH A RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOOD. I HAD A HALF-MILE WARNING SOMETHING WAS WRONG WHEN THE ENGINE STARTED SPUTTERING. IF I DID NOT HAVE MY FOOT ON THE GAS, THE ENGINE WOULD STALL. WHEN I GOT IT INTO MY DRIVEWAY AND TURNED IT OFF IT WOULD NOT RESTART. AFTER 4-5 ATTEMPTS, THE ENGINE WOULD NOT TURNOVER. SO I HAD TO TOW MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR ASSESSMENT. THE NEXT DAY THEY TELL ME ENGINE CAR WAS WORTHLESS AND THAT I MUST PUT IN A NEW ENGINE FOR $11,000. THEY SAID THEY HAVE SEEN ENGINES FAIL AROUND 105,000. MINE HAS 107,000. I ASKED WHY THEY DID NOT ALERT ME TO THIS RISK AS I WOULD HAVE BROUGHT THE CAR IN SOONER. I ARGUED BACK UNTIL THEY REDUCED THE PRICE TO $6,300 FOR NEW ENGINE ON A 6 YEAR OLD CAR, AND THEY WOULD OFFER ME $8,500 TO TRADE IT IN ON A NEW ONE. I DO NOT HAVE $6,300 TO DO INVEST. BESIDES, THE ENGINE IN THE Q5 HAS HAD ISSUES SINCE I PURCHASED IT AS A PRE-CERTIFIED VEHICLE IN 2011. THE INDOOR ODOR OF THE CAR SMELLED STRONG OF GAS. THE AREA AROUND OR UNDER THE CAR WAS COMPLETELY DRY. THE SMELL WAS PREVALENT WHILE MOVING OR PARKED. THE GAS TANK WAS DRY AT THE NOZZLE. I DRIVE MY FAMILY IN THE CAR, INCLUDING MY GRANDCHILDREN. I WAS CONCERNED FOR OUR SAFETY SO HAD MY LOCAL MECHANIC EVALUATE. THEY DISCOVERED A PIN HOLE LEAK IN THE FUEL PUMP UNDER THE REAR SEAT AND GAS WAS ALL OVER THE GAS TANK. ANY SPARK WOULD HAVE SET THE CAR IN FLAMES AND POSSIBLE EXPLOSION GIVEN THE LOCATION OF THE LEAK. THIS REPAIR COST $1131. THIS OBVIOUS FLAW SHOULD BE IDENTIFIED BY AUDI AND A RECALL SHOULD BE IN PLACE TO REPLACE THIS DEFECTIVE PART.

MY CAR (2011 AUDI Q5) ENGINE ABRUPTLY SHUT DOWN AT LOW SPEED TWICE ON THE SAME DAY, ONCE AT A STOP SIGN AND SECOND TIME WHILE BACKING OUT OF THE GARAGE. ABOUT 2 WEEKS AGO, THE CAR STOPPED WHILE TRYING TO PULL OUT OF A PARKING LOT AT SPEED OF ABOUT 10 MPH OR LESS. FUEL TANK WAS MORE THAN HALF FULL AND BATTERY IS GOOD TOO. CAR IS LESS THAN 3 YEARS OLD WITH SERVICE DATE STARTING MAY 2011. VAGCOM ANALYSIS WHEN CONNECTING THE CAR OBDI PORT TO MY LAPTOP INDICATES FAULT CODES 4732, 4735 AMONG SEVERAL OTHERS RELATING TO MISFIRING CYLINDERS AND FAULTS IN THE FUEL PUMP CIRCUIT/ELECTRONICS. A CURSORY SEARCH ON THE INTERNET INDICATES SEVERAL SUCH INCIDENTS WITH MANY OTHER CAR OWNERS WHERE THE CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT TO GET IT FIXED. THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION IN WHICH CAR CAN COME TO STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD AND I HOPE AUDI TAKES LEADERSHIP IN PROACTIVELY SOLVING THIS PROBLEM BEFORE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT/INJURY HAPPENS TO SOMEONE. *TR

AT APPROXIMATELY 6:00 PM THE EVENING OF FEBRUARY 10, 2013, I WAS RETURNING WITH MY MOM (FRONT PASSENGER) ON I-66E HEADED BACK HOME, A VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME STOPPED SUDDENLY BECAUSE A VEHICLE IN FRONT OF HER STOPPED FOR NO APPARENT REASON. I ENGAGED MY BRAKES AND HAD COME TO A COMPLETE STOP WITHOUT TOUCHING THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME AND THEN THE NEXT THING I KNOW I CAME IN CONTACT WITH HER BUMPER. WE THOUGHT INITIALLY WE HAD BEEN HIT FROM BEHIND, HOWEVER, AFTER INSPECTING MY REAR BUMPER THERE SEEMED TO BE NO INDICATION THAT HAD OCCURRED. EVEN THE DRIVER IN FRONT OF ME ACKNOWLEDGED THAT I WAS AT A STOP BEFORE COMING IN CONTACT WITH HER BUMPER. WHAT I BELIEVE OCCURRED HAS TO DO WITH THE AUDI BRAKING SYSTEM. I HAVE RAISED THIS PROBLEM OF THE BRAKES SKIPPING AND OTHER RELATED ISSUES ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS WITH AUDI'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT, AUDI U.S./ GERMAN CORPORATE OFFICES AND AUDI "CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE" CENTER AND ACCORDING TO MY MAINTENANCE LOGS THEY HAVE PERFORMED A VARIETY OF CHECKS INCLUDING UPDATING THE SOFTWARE AND OTHER REPAIRS. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN REPEATEDLY TO THE AUDI DEALERSHIPS PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT AND AFTER THIS INCIDENT FOR BRAKE AND GEAR ISSUES AMONGST OTHER PROBLEMS. I STILL CONTINUE TO HAVE SIMILAR ISSUES OF THE BRAKES NOT PROPERLY ENGAGING, A LOT OF CREAKING/GROANING NOISES/EXCESSIVE BREAK DUST FROM THE BRAKES AND WHEN I PLACE THE GEAR SHIFT FROM REVERSE INTO DRIVE IT JERKS FORWARD. AUDI HAS BEEN COMPLETELY UNHELPFUL AND HAS DONE NOTHING TO RESOLVE THE MATTERS SATISFACTORILY WHICH I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO DO SINCE SHORTLY AFTER THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT IN FEBRUARY. *TR

WHILE TAKING A LEFT TURN ACROSS TRAFFIC, THE AUDI Q5 3.2 TRANSMISSION FAILED WHILE SHIFTING FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR. THE AUDI Q5 STOPPED AND WOULD NOT CONTINUE TO DRIVE. THE ENGINE SEEMED TO BE WORKING PROPERLY; HOWEVER, THE GEARS WOULD NOT ENGAGE AND THE CAR WOULD NOT DRIVE. THE AUDI Q5 DISPLAYED AN ERROR MESSAGE "GEARBOX MALFUNCTION; YOU CAN CONTINUE DRIVING (LIMITED FUNCTIONALITY)". AFTER REPEATEDLY RESTARTING THE AUDI Q5 AND ATTEMPTING TO SHIFT THE TRANSMISSION IT EVENTAULLY ENGAGED THE GEARS ALLOWING THE CAR TO BE DRIVEN OUT OF TRAFFIC.

Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain 2011-2017 Audi Q5 vehicles. The sunroof drainage system may allow water to soak into the foam surrounding the side head air bag inflator canister resulting in the corrosion of the canister. If this happens, the corrosion can weaken the canister and the inflator could fracture without air bag deployment, propelling fragments into the passenger compartment, striking and causing serious injury to vehicle occupants.
