Fine, white particles are blowing out of the cabin air ducts whenever the air conditioner or fan is turned on. My local BMW service center, Herb Chambers BMW of Boston, determined that the debris is flakes of aluminum from the deteriorated aluminum alloy fins of the AC evaporator coil and heater exchanger. The cabin air ducts were scoped and found to be intact with no intrusion of outside contaminants. The dealer determined that if not replaced, “the A/C Evaporator will fail…” and quoted the cost of repairs at $5,286.18. As I am sure you are aware, aluminum is a neurotoxin when absorbed by the body. The fine aluminum particles blowing from the heating and cooling system of my BMW have been absorbed into my eyes, mouth and airways, putting me at risk from internal exposure to aluminum. They have also rendered my BMW 335d unusable due to this health safety hazard. I filed a request for recourse with BMW of North America and was denied.
IT STARTED MAY, 2017, WHEN MY 335D WAS IDLING ROUGH AND JERKED AS I WAS DRIVING AT A SLOW SPEED. I TOOK IT INTO CREVIER BMW IN SANTA ANA. THE CAR HAD 53,000 MILES AND THEY SAID IT HAD CARBON BUILD UP ON THE INTAKE MANIFOLD AND #1 & 5 FUEL INJECTOR. THEY REPLACED THE FUEL INJECTORS AND WALNUT BLAST THE MANIFOLD. SWIRL PORTS, EGR AND THROTTLE HOUSING CLEANED AS WELL. APR, 2018 58,000 MILES, FAULTY ACTIVE TANK TEMPERATURE SENSOR REPLACED. AUG, 2018 60,000 MILES, REPLACED FAULTY FUEL INJECTORS #2,3,4,5 AND FAULTY CAM SENSOR. JAN, 2019 64,000 CAR RUNNING ROUGH AT IDLE. STARTED USING FUEL INJECTOR CLEANER IN FUEL TANK. THIS STOPPED THE ROUGH IDLE. CAR RUNS ROUGH EVERY TIME IF I DON'T ADD THE INJECTOR CLEANER. MARCH 2020 73,000 MILES, INTAKE MANIFOLD REMOVED AND WALNUT BLAST AGAIN. REPLACED BOTH FAULTY NOX SENSORS. FAULTY CODES ON AIR MASS INTAKE. NOV 2020 76,000 MILES, FAULTY FUEL INJECTORS # 1,2,4, #5 GLOW PLUG, MASS/VOLUME AIR FLOW, INTAKE TEMPERATURE SENSOR. DID NOT PASS SMOG. TOOK TO DEALER AND THEY COULD NOT FIGURE OUT WHAT TO REPAIR TO GET IT TO PASS SMOG. VERY FRUSTRATED...
PASSENGER AIRBAG MALFUNCTION, SEAT SENSITIVITY IS TOUCHY, REPORTS AN OCCUPANT WHEN EMPTY AND GIVES AN OCCASIONAL MALFUNCTION WARNING, AT ANY SPEED, ANY TIME.
THE FRONT PASSENGER SEATBELT SENSOR MALFUNCTIONS AND SETS OFF THE WARNING SOUND AS IF SOMEONE IS SITING IN THE SEAT WHEN NOBODY OR NOTHING IS IN THE SEAT. THIS MAY CAUSE AIRBAG MALFUNCTIONS OR HAVE IT NOT DEPLOY. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE THE FIRST DAY I BOUGHT THE CAR SEVERAL WEEKS AGO. THE ISSUE IS CONSTANT WHILE I'M DRIVING.
LESS THAN 70K MILES AND HAD TO REPLACE MANIFOLD, INJECTORS ETC DUE TO EXCESS CARBON BMW NEEDS TO DO MORE TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE OF POLLUTION ON THESE VEHICLES
I'VE HAD TO REPLACE THE EGR MODULE TO AVOID CATASTROPHIC RESULTS. AN IDENTICAL ISSUES RESULTED IN A RECALL FROM BMW FOR DIESELS FROM OTHER YEARS: HTTPS://WWW.CONSUMERREPORTS.ORG/CAR-RECALLS-DEFECTS/BMW-RECALLS-DIESEL-CARS-AND-SUVS-FOR-FIRE-RISK/ . HOWEVER, BMW HAS CHOSEN NOT TO EXPAND THE RECALL TO COVER THIS ENGINE FAILURE IN ALL OF THE DIESELS. IT'S POTENTIALLY ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE THIS STARTS TO SHOW UP WITH INCREASED FREQUENCY.
THE 2011 VEHICLE WITH LESS THAN 65,000 MILES NORMAL RUNS AT HIGHWAY SPEED IN A RANGE OF 2K RPMS. A WARNING REGARDING THE TRANSMISSION IMMEDIATELY CAUSED THE CAR TO REV UP TO 5K RPM (VERY HIGH FOR A DIESEL ENGINE SEDAN) AND THE SPEED REDUCES 30-40MPH WHILE DRIVING. IT IS INCREDIBLY SCARY AND DANGEROUS. ASSUMED THIS WAS A ONE-OFF. PULLED TO THE SHOULDER, TURNED OFF THE CAR AND IT RAN FINE. TOOK IT TO BMW FOR INSPECTION AND THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM BUT WOULD REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION AND CHARGE ME MORE THAN HALF THE VALUE OF THE CAR. THE ISSUE HAS SINCE REPEATED AND IS VERY DANGEROUS TO ALL ON THE ROAD.
STEERING WHEELS IS SUCK WANT TURNING IN MY DRIVEWAY STEERING WHEELS LOCK UP CAN GETTING TURNING WHAT CAN WE DO
I PURCHASED NEW PIRELLI PZERO TIRES FROM MY LOCAL BMW DEALER. THE REAR TIRES EXHIBITED INTERMITTENT AIR LOSS AND WERE REPLACED BY THE DEALER BECAUSE THE DEALER BELIEVED THEY WERE DAMAGED DURING INSTALLATION. THE SECOND SET OF REAR TIRES ALSO EXHIBITED INTERMITTENT AIR LOSS. THE DEALER BELIEVED THE WHEELS WERE DAMAGED AND CAUSING THE AIR LOSS. I HAD A WHEEL SPECIALIST INSPECT THE WHEELS, AND THEY FOUND NO DEFECTS TO CAUSE AIR LOSS. THE WHEEL SPECIALIST FOUND THE TIRES TO BE DEFECTIVE AS THEY HAVE EXCESS MATERIAL AT THE BEAD THAT PREVENTS PROPER SEALING ON THE RIM. THE WHEEL SPECIALIST ATTEMPTED TO REMOVE THE EXCESS MATERIAL FROM ONE TIRE TO DETERMINE IF THAT WOULD IMPROVE THE PROBLEM, WHICH IT DID TO SOME EXTENT. I CALLED PIRELLI AND NOTIFIED THEM OF THE PROBLEM, AND THEY STATED THEY WOULD REPLACE ONE REAR TIRE UNDER WARRANTY BUT NOT THE TIRE THAT WAS WORKED UPON BY THE WHEEL SPECIALIST. IN SUMMARY, I EXPERIENCED TWO SETS OF DEFECTIVE PIRELLI P ZERO TIRES LEADING ME TO BELIEVE THERE COULD BE A PROBLEM WITH ADDITIONAL TIRES. I HAVE VIDEO EVIDENCE OF THE LEAKS SEEN DURING A LEAK TEST.
WHILE COMING TO A STOP IN A PARKING LOT THE STEERING BECAME DIFFICULT AND THE SMELL OF BURNING RUBBER WAS PRESENT. HAD THE CAR BEEN GOING A HIGH RATE OF SPEED IT WOULD HAVE BEEN DISASTROUS.
I WAS TRAVELING DOWN THE ROAD TODAY IN MY 2011 335I XDRIVE AND MY SUNROOF EXPLODED! NO ROCK HIT ME, IT WAS LIKE A SHOTGUN WENT OFF INSIDE MY CAR, I'M RETIRED MILITARY, A VETERANS OF ALL THE WARS/CONFLICTS FROM 89-2009 HAD MORTARS FLYING OVER MY HEAD AND PATRIOT BATTERYS TAKING OUT SCUDS OVERHEAD. IT'S A GOOD THING I DON'T HAVE PTSD, BECAUSE I COULD HAVE CAUSED A HUGE ACCIDENT AT 70 MPH ON THE INTERSTATE! GLASS PIECES EVERYWHERE, IN MY LAP, MOUTH AND IN THE CAR. THERE ARE TWO PARALLEL LINES OF MISSING GLASS, I HAVE TAPED ALL OF IT SO IT DOESN'T FALL DOWN. I CALLED BMW IF MURRAY UTAH, THEY SAID THEY NEVER HEARD OF THIS AND MY WARRANTY IS PAST THEY SAID NO RECALL IS OUT FOR THIS.

THE CAR IS IN THE SHOP EVERY WEEK I HAVE HAD IT TOWED 12 TIMES SINCE MAY. I TOOK IT IN FOR THE RECALL (ELECTRICAL ISSUED RECENTLY) THE VEHICLE RAN GREAT, NOW THE DEALERSHIP SAYS I NEED 3 NEW INJECTORS. THE INJECTORS ARE BAD. I AM READING REVIEWS AND OTHERS STATED THEIR BMW'S NEED NEW INJECTORS. SO IS THEIR A RECALL FOR INJECTORS I DID NOT SEE? THE CAR STAHLED WHILE I WAS DRIVING IT STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD.
THE VEHICLE CONTINUES TO STAHL AND NOW THE DEALER SAID IT WAS THE HIGH/LOW FUEL PUMPS AND INJECTORS WHICH COST MORE THAN THE VEHICLE. I AM STUCK MAKING PAYMENTS THIS CAR IS JUNK AND THE CAR NEEDS TO BE RECALLED...... EVERY MONTH I HAVE A PROBLEM SINCE OCTOBER THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP 12 TIMES. INTERMITTENT FAULT ON PASSENGER RESTRAINT SYSTEM AFFECTING PASSENGER AIRBAG AND BELT TENSIONER. MY CAR WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL FOR EARLIER E90 MODELS WITH THE SPORT SEATS. FIRST FAULT OCCURRED WITH APPROXIMATELY 118,000 MILES ON THE CAR AND HAS HAPPENED OCCASIONALLY FOR THE LAST 10,000 MILES. FAULT CODE 0093C3
WHILST DRIVING VEHICLE, BATTERY WARNING LIGHT, BRAKE WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON. VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER STEERING, AND WAS IMPOSSIBLE TO DRIVE. AFTER VISIT TO DEALERSHIP, APPEARS THAT HARMONIC BALANCER WAS COMPLETELY BROKEN OFF, IN TURN, TAKING OUT VARIOUS BELTS, INCLUDING THE BELTS THAT POWER A/C AND MOST IMPORTANTLY POWER STEERING. BMW ALREADY REPLACED THESE BELTS TWICE, UNDER WARRANTY. UNFORTUNATELY, IT APPEARS THE HARMONIC BALANCER APPEARS TO BE AN ISSUE FOR MANY OF THE 335D VEHICLES, AS WELL AS FOR X5 SAVS, EQUIPPED WITH SAME ENGINE. COMPLETE LOSS OF POWERSTEERING, IS AN UNACCEPTABLE DANGER, IN PARTICULAR FOR A PART THAT APPEARS TO BE WEAK (DESIGN FLAW), AS DOCUMENTED BY OTHER BMW 335D OWNERS.
RECEIVED INITIAL RECALL NOTICE FROM BMW DECEMBER 2017. AS OF MAY 27TH 2018 A REMEDY IS STILL NOT AVAILABLE TO CORRECT ELECTRICAL ISSUES THAT COULD CAUSE A POSSIBLE FIRE. BMW IS ABLE TO PROVIDE PARTS TO PRODUCE NEW AUTO'S BUT MAKES LITTLE EFFORT TO CORRECT KNOW ISSUES ON THE AUTOS THAT IT HAS ALREADY SOLD.
MY 2011 BMW 335D SEDAN HAS A RECALL ON THE BLOWER MOTOR WIRING HARNESS THAT COULD CATCH FIRE ANYTIME, EVEN WHEN THE CAR IS PARKED AND OFF. I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO DRIVE MY CAR FOR OVER 2 MONTHS AT THIS POINT, (WHILE STILL MAKING MY HIGH CAR PAYMENT) AND PARTS ARE STILL NOT AVAILABLE, AND NO IDEA WHEN THEY WILL BE. DOWNHILL. NO BREAK . STARTED ROLLING DOWN. USED HAND BRAKE. 3/7/18 - CAR STALLED WHILE DRIVING IN SNOW CITY STREET - SPEED 25 /HR REPAIRS: 5/23/17 - EGR COOLER , INJECTORS REPLACED 5/31 - 6/18 - CAR WAS AT DEALER AND ENGINE, INTAKE MANIFOLD REPLACED. 2/13/18 - DIESEL PUMP REPLACED. 3/7/18 - CAR IS WITH DEALER - REPORTS MULTIPLE INJECTOR FAILURE
I HAVE A PASSENGER RESTRAINT SYSTEM FAULT AFFECTING AIRBAG, BELT TENSIONER. MY CAR HAS SPORT SEATS THAT HAVE BEEN RECALLED IN A PREVIOUS CAMPAIGN DUE TO THE SEAT MAT SENSOR FAILURE. MY CAR WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. BMW QUOTED ME A REPLACEMENT SEAT MAT USING THE SAME RECALLED PRODUCT FROM 2013 AND 2006. MY CAR CURRENTLY HAS A SEAT BELT MALFUNCTION CODE AND THE SEAT MAT SENSOR IS DEFECTIVE. THIS WENT DEFECTIVE AT 84,000 MILES ON THE CAR. AS A RESULT, THE AIRBAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY IN A CRASH BECAUSE THE SEAT DOES NOT DETECT AN OCCUPANT WITH THE SEAT BELT MALFUNCTION!
PERTAINING TO NHTSA RECALL NUMBER 17V676 THAT WAS ISSUED IN OCTOBER OF 2017, I CALLED BMW CUSTOMER SERVICE IN DECEMBER TO INQUIRE ABOUT THE STATUS OF THE RECALL BUT WAS TOLD TO CONTINUE CHECKING ITS WEBSITE FOR STATUS AND THE REP COULD NOT PROVIDE A TIMEFRAME AS TO WHEN I CAN BRING THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR. WE ARE NOW AT THE END OF JANUARY, MORE THAN 3 MONTHS AFTER THE RECALL WAS ISSUED AND STILL NO ETA AS TO WHEN A FIX WILL BE AVAILABLE. WHEN THERE'S A SAFETY RISK INVOLVED, I'M NOT SURE WHY THERE WAS NOT AN URGENCY BEING PLACED ON THIS RECALL FROM BMW.
VEHICLE WILL OCCASIONALLY LOSE ALL ELECTRICAL POWER TO THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE. AFTER RESEARCH I FOUND BMW RECALLS ON THE POSITIVE BATTERY CABLE AND ITS CONNECTION BEHIND THE FUSE BOX. I ACCESSED MY CABLE BEHIND THE FUSE BOX AND MOVED THE CABLE A SMALL AMOUNT AND POWER WAS RESTORED. I ASSUMED MY VEHICLE WOULD BE COVERED UNDER THIS RECALL SINCE THAT IS CLEARLY THE PROBLEM AFTER TAKING THE VEHICLE OVER 70 MILES ON WAY TO THE DEALER THEY TOLD ME THAT MY VIN NUMBER WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THIS RECALL # 13V044000. MY CAR HAS THIS PROBLEM AND FITS ALL THE CRITERIA LISTED ON THE BMW DOCUMENTATION FOR THE RECALL.
TAKATA RECALL I HAVE CONTACTED TWO BMW RETAILERS IN MY AREA ASKING TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE MY AIRBAGS REPLACED AND BOTH RESPONSES WERE "WE DON'T HAVE THE PART BUT WILL ORDER IT AND CALL YOU BACK WHEN READY TO SCHEDULE THE REPLACEMENT". I HAVEN'T HEARD BACK FROM EITHER AND I CONTACTED BMW MOUNTAIN VIEW OVER 9 MONTHS AGO AND BMW PETER PAN OVER 4 MONTHS AGO. I AM DEEPLY CONCERNED FOR THE SAFETY OF ME AND MY FAMILY SINCE THERE IS A KNOWN DEFECT IN THE AIRBAG THAT COULD BE DEPLOYED IN THE CASE OF AN ACCIDENT. I HOPE THIS NEVER HAPPENS BUT THE FACT THERE IS A KNOWN THREAT IN MY CAR WHICH COULD BE LIFE THREATENING AT ANY MOMENT AND THERE IS NO URGENCY TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE FROM BMW OR THE AIRBAG MANUFACTURER IS VERY DISAPPOINTING.

TAKATA. RESOLUTION BY CLOSEST BMW DEALER, BMW OF BELLEVUE, WASHINGTON, IS INDICATING A MAY 2018 DATE FOR REPLACEMENT. I FEEL THAT THIS IS AN INORDINATELY EXTENDED TIME ON TOP OF THE ALREADY LONG TIME FOR THE REPLACEMENT PRODUCT.
BLOWER MOTOR WIRING: THIS RECALL INVOLVES THE WIRING FOR THE SYSTEM, KNOWN AS THE BLOWER-MOTOR, THAT CONTROLS AIR FLOW FOR THE HEATING AND AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM. OVER TIME, THE CONNECTION BETWEEN THE WIRING AND THIS SYSTEM COULD DETERIORATE AND, IN RARE CASES, COULD LEAD TO OVERHEATING. THE BLOWER SYSTEM ALSO LEAKS SOME TYPE OF OIL WHICH MY MECHANIC INDICATED COULD ALSO LEAD TO A FIRE WITH THE BLOWING MOTOR WIRING SHORT CIRCUITING. A FEW MONTHS BACK THE HEATING/AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM SUDDENLY STOPPED FUNCTIONING, IT SENT A STRONG SMELL OF PLASTIC AND RUBBER BURNING THROUGHOUT THE VEHICLE INTERIOR. ALSO I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY LETTER REGARDING THE RECENT RECALL FROM BMW, WHICH MY VEHICLE IS ALSO LISTED UNDER THAT RECALL. HAVEN'T I DONE ANY RESEARCH ON THIS I WOULD STILL BE DRIVING MY CAR AROUND PUTTING MY LIFE AND FAMILY'S LIVES AT RISK.

WE RAN FOR WATER HOSE AND PUT OUT THE FIRE. VEHICLE NOW HAS MULTIPLE ERROR MESSAGES DUE TO DAMAGED WIRE HARNESS ACCORDING TO BMW DEALER, WIRE HARNESS WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED BEFORE FULL UNDERSTANDING OF THE CONDITION OF THE CAR CAN BE DETERMINED.
TAKATA RECALL WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHATS GOING WITH THIS RECALL. ITS BEEN OVER A YEAR AND STILL THIS ISSUE HASENT GOT REAOLVE.

EVEN THOUGH RECALL BEGUN A YEAR AND HALF AGO, WE STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED OUR FINAL NOTIFICATION LETTER YET FROM BMW. EVERYDAY DRIVING THIS VEHICLE, DRIVER IS AT RISK.
TWICE I'VE LOST POWER ON THE FREEWAY DUE TO WHAT I BELIEVE IS THE POSITIVE BATTERY CABLE LOSING CONNECTION TO THE FRONT FUSE BOX. EVEN THOUGH THIS HAS BEEN RECALLED IN OTHER 2008 TO 2011 3-SERIES MODELS BMW HAS REFUSED MY REQUESTS TO REPAIR THIS UNDER RECALL.
I PURCHASED 4 REPLACEMENT RUN FLAT TIRES FOR MY WIFES BMW 335D WITH 40,000 MILE TREAD WEAR WARRANTY. AFTER 20,000 MILES THE FRONT TIRES WERE HALF WORN AND THE REARS WERE NEAR BALD. I CONTACTED TIRE RACK, WHERE I HAD PURCHASED REPLACEMENT TIRES, AND THEY SENT OUT 2 REAR REPLACEMENT TIRES TO THEIR LOCAL INSTALLER; WHICH I FULLY PAID FOR PENDING RETURN. UPON INSTALLATION IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE TIRES I HAD ORIGINALLY PURCHASED FROM TIRE RACK WERE NOT RUN FLATS BUT STANDARD TIRES. THE TIRES LOOK FROM THE OUTSIDE EXACTLY THE SAME, BRIDGESTONE RE960 VS RE970S. THERE IS A BIG DIFFERENCE IN PRICE AND YOU ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO MIX NON RUN FLATS AND RUN FLATS. I CONTACTED TIRE RACK AND THEY WOULD NOT HELP. THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE WOULD NOT LISTEN BUT BLAMED THE PROBLEM ON ME OR THEIR INSTALLER. WITH SOME INVESTIGATION I LEARNED ABOUT DOT NUMBERS AND WAS SURPRISED THAT THE INSTALLER DOES NOT TRACK THE DOT NUMBER AND ONLY TIRE RACK HAS. TIRE RACK IS THE ONLY ONE WITH THE DOT NUMBER AND THERE SEEMS TO BE NO WAY TO VERIFYING THE DOT NUMBERS. THEY SAY IT IS NOT THEIR MISTAKE BUT COMMUNICATION WITH THEM HAS BEEN DIFFICULT AND THEY DONT SEEM TO HAVE A CUSTOMER ORIENTED OR TRUSTWORTHY CULTURE. I SPOKE WITH THE INSTALLER AND THEY REVIEWED THE LABELING AND SEGREGATION OF THE TIRES RECEIVED FROM TIRE RACK TO PREVENT SWITCHING. THEY ARE A SMALL INSTALLER AND THERE PROCESS SEEMS RELIABLE. WHO KNOWS HOW OFTEN THIS HAPPENS BUT I WANTED TO SHARE THIS STORY WITH OTHERS SO THEY BUY THEIR TIRES FROM THE INSTALLER TO ELIMINATE THIS PROBLEM.

I'VE READ THAT THEY ARE FIXING OLDER MODELS AND THOSE IN HIGH HUMIDITY FIRST, BUT FIND IT INTERESTING THAT I RECEIVED A NOTICE TO FIX THE RECALL ON THE 2013 LEASED BMW BEFORE MY 2011 OWNED BMW. I LIVE IN FL AND THOUGH I GOT THE NOTICE FOR THE LEASE, I HAD ALREADY TURNED THE LEASE BACK IN AND WAS NO LONGER IN POSSESSION OF IT. NOW OVER A YEAR LATER SINCE THE THE BEGINNING OF THE RECALL AND STILL NO REPLACEMENT PIECE FOR MY RECALL ON AN OLDER MODEL IN HIGH HUMIDITY. I TURNED IN THE LEASE IN JULY OF 2016 AND GOT THE NOTICE ABOUT A WEEK AFTER TURNING IT IN AND NOW 7 MONTHS AFTER THAT AND STILL NO NEWS ON WHEN MY RECALL WILL BE DEALT WITH. SOME INFORMATION WOULD BE NICE TO OWNERS STILL WAITING FOR RECALLS.

THE CODE P02CE (CYLINDER 2 FUEL INJECTOR OFFSET LEARNING T MIN LIMIT) THE ISSUE IS THIS IS A REOCCURRING PROBLEM FOR ME AND NOW STARTS TO HAPPEN EVERY 6 MONTHS. LAST ONE WAS IN JULY 2016. LOOKS LIKE SOME DEFECTIVE SYSTEM. PLEASE LET ME KNOW HOW I CAN HANDLE THIS SCENARIO. THE BARELY HAS 35K MILES.

BMW 335D AUTOMATIC WITH APPROX 60K MILES. WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT APPROX 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY BEGAN TO MAKE NOISE, SHAKE VIOLENTLY AND FILL WITH SMOKE. THE PASSENGER SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAGS WENT OFF FROM THE VIOLENT SHAKING. MY HUSBAND PILOTED IT ACROSS 2 LANES OF TRAFFIC TO THE SHOULDER. THE CENTER CONSOLE AND SHIFTER WERE LIFTED UP SEVERAL INCHES. WE WERE SHOCKED THAT WE DID NOT WRECK. WE SET THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND CALLED BMW ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE. IT WAS TOWED TO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP. THE DEALER SAID IT WAS 100% MECHANICAL FAILURE AND THE DRIVESHAFT BROKE AND CAUSED SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE TO THE TRANSMISSION AND THAT THEY COULD NOT REPAIR IT. *TR

AT 81,000 MILE THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER FAILED. IT IS UNCLEAR WHETHER THIS CAR HAD THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER REPLACED AS PART OF THE 2012 RECALL. THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON (SES) LIGHT HAD COME ON.

THIS IS A KNOW FAULT PROBLEM THAT IS DIRECTLY TIED TO EMISSIONS OF THE DEISEL ENGINE STARTING AT 2008-2012 FOR ALL BMW DEISEL ENGINES. MAYBE EVEN NEWER MODELS. THIS SO CALLED SCR TEMPERATURE SENSOR THAT IS LOCATED INSIDE THE DEF (UREA) TANK FAILS, WHICH IN TERM FAILS THE SMOG INSPECTION IF IT IS NOT REPLACED. SOME OWNERS AND DEALERS HAVE REPLACED THIS TANK/SENSOR ( WHICH IS ONE PART TOGETHER, CANT BUY SEPARATELY) UNDER EMISSIONS WARENTY. BUT MOST DEALERS WILL DENY THE FACT THIS SYSTEM IS THE PRIMARY SYSTEM OF EMMISSION. AND IF IT'S NOT WORKING HOW INTENDED I'M SURE EMISSIONS OF THIS CAR WON'T MEETC THE FEDERAL OR STATE REQUIRMENT. ANOTHER VEHICLE TOOK A HARD ILLEGAL RIGHT FROM THE LEFT HAND LANE AS I WAS GOING THROUGH AN INTERSECTION. I WAS FORCED TO HIT THE OTHER VEHICLE AND BOUNCED OFF AND HIT HEAD-ON INTO A TEXACO SIGN. THE AIR BACK BARELY DEPLOYED OUT OF THE STEERING WHEEL AND THE PLASTIC,ETC. HIT ME IN THE FACE AND BROKE MY ORBIT BONE AND CHEEK BONE. I HAD FACIAL RECONSTRUCTIVE SURGERY TO REPAIR MY EYE FLOOR AND CHEEK BONE WITH TITANIUM. I JUST SURVIVED STAGE 4 THROAT CANCER THIS YEAR AND MY JAWS ARE NOW IRREPLACEABLE FROM RADIATION. I BOUGHT THIS 2011 BMW 335D USED IN APRIL OF 2014 WITH ONLY 18,500 MILES ON IT. THIS CAR RUNS ON DIESEL. AS SOON AS I STARTED DRIVING THE CAR ON THE DAILY BASIS I NOTICED A SMELL OF SULFUR OR EXHAUST INSIDE THE CABIN. EVERY TIME I DRIVE THE CAR AND ESPECIALLY WHEN I ACCELERATE I CAN SMELL IT WITH THE WINDOWS CLOSED. IT NEVER GOES AWAY AND IS VERY DISTINCTIVE IN ITS NATURE. MONDAY MORNING PULLED THE CAR OFF THE GARAGE AND NOTICED THE FRONT PASSENGER TIRE LIGHT WAS ON. THOUGHT IT WAS A NAIL IN THE TIRE AND STOPPED AT NTB TO FIX IT. AFTER TAKING THE WHEEL OFF THE CAR, THE MECHANIC CALLED ME AND INDICATED THAT THE RIM WAS CRACKED AND THEY CANNOT DO ANYTHING. MY CAR IS UNDER WARRANTY SO CALLED BMW AND BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY TOOK THE TIRE OFF THE RIM AND MADE PICTURES, HOWEVER THEY KEPT A NEUTRAL TONE SAYING THAT BMW DOES NOT COVER WHEELS AND TIRES UNDER WARRANTY, MOSTLY BECAUSE I PROBABLY HIT A POTHOLE.
