WHEN TAKING OFF FROM A DEAD STOP I HEARD A LOUD BANG AND CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE , TOOK A LOOK UNDERNEATH AND IT SEEMS AT THE VERY LEAST THE CONNECTION BETWEEN THE DRIVESHAFT AND THE DIFF EXPLODED. I'M HOPING THERE ISN'T ANY DAMAGE TO THE TRANSMISSION ITSELF , I KNOW THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE ON 1, 3 AND SOME 740 MODELS I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY NOT MINE ...
HYBRID BATTERIES FAILING BEFORE REACHING 50,000 MILES COST OF REPAIR AROUND 15000 AT THE BMW DEALER WHICH IS INSANE FOR A BATTERY ,
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 BMW 750I. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO VIBRATE AND THE DRIVE TRAIN MALFUNCTION WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT PARKED THE VEHICLE AND CALLED NHTSA. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,000.
ON 2 SEPERATE OCCASIONS, ONCE ON A BUSY STREET AND ONCE ON THE FREEWAY, THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN DURING DRIVING WITH AND ABRUPT SPEED CHANGE AS IT SLAMS INTO PARK OR LOCKS ALL WHEELS UP WITH NO CONTROL OF THE STEERING OR ANY PART OF THE VEHICLE. ALL ELECTRONICS WERE NOT WORKING AND AIRBAG LIGHTS WERE FLASHING AS THE VEHICLE BROKE DOWN AND SHUT OFF ON THE FREEWAY WITH AN 88 YEAR OLD WOMAN THE BMW DEALERSHIP SOLD THIS DANGEROUS LEMON OF A CAR TO. THE 1ST TIME THIS HAPPENED, THE VEHICLE NEEDED REPAIRS THAT TOTALED OVER $21,000 , MORE THAN THE VALUE OF THE CAR. BMW IS AWARE THIS VEHICLE HAS RECALLS & PROBLEMS. THESE VEHICLES SHOULD NOT BE REPAIRED AND PUT BACK ON THE ROAD. BOTH INCIDENTS OF THE CAR SHUTTING DOWN WHILE DRIVING COULD HAVE EASILY KILLED SOMEBODY. THE DEALERSHIP HAS RECORD OF INCIDENTS.
THE N63 ENGINE MADE BY BMW GENERATES TOO MUCH HEAT WHICH HAS CAUSED MINE AS WELL AS COUNTLESS OTHERS TO CONSUME FAR TOO MUCH OIL OVER YEARS OF USAGE. THE ENGINE'S HEAT HAS ALSO CAUSED NEARLY ALL GASKETS AND O-RINGS TO BECOME WARPED AND LEAK OIL AS WELL. CURRENTLY, I PUT IN OVER 1 QUART OF PREMIUM 5W30 OIL EVERY 8-10 DAYS WHICH IS FAR TOO MUCH. THIS ENGINE NEEDS TO BE LOOKED INTO; I'M HAPPY TO PARTICIPATE IN FIRST-HAND ACCOUNTING OF RESULTS OF THIS FAILED ENGINEERING MARVEL.
ENGINE IS BURNING AND LEAKING OIL EXCESSIVELY. N63 ENGINE REQUIRES 2-QUARTS OF PREMIUM OIL EVERY MONTH, OR APPROXIMATELY 1200-1400 MILES DRIVEN. AREA BMW REPAIR SHOPS RECOMMEND REPLACEMENT OF ENGINE WHICH HAS 118,000 MILES.
BMW 750 I XDRIVE 2011 --EXCESSIVE ENGINE OIL CONSUMPTION AND OR BURNING. THE DESIGN OF THE VALVE STEM SEALS IS A MAJOR SAFETY PROBLEM DUE TO EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION. THE SAFETY CONCERNS ARE THE FOLLOWING: 1) FIRE HAZARD. 2) PROPERTY DAMAGE AND PERSONAL INJURY 3) POLLUTING THE ENVIRONMENT WITH EXCESSIVE SMOKE 4) ADDITIONAL COST BURDEN FOR CONSUMERS EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY AND AT THE POINT OF ACCELERATION, THE IS A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF SMOKE THAT IS COMING OUT OF THE TAIL PIPE. THE OIL MEASURE TURN TO LOW AFTER JUST 2 WEEKS OF ADDING OIL TO THE ENGINE. FOR THE FOLLOWING REASONS, BMW SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE AND BE FORCED TO REPAIR THE ENGINEERING DESIGN FLAWS IN THEIR ENGINE THAT BURN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF OIL IN A SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME. CONSUMER SHOULD NOT HAVE TO CARRY THE COST BURDEN OF REPAIRING THIS DESIGN FLAWS. AS AN OWNER, I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED IN BMW
I PURCHASED THIS CAR SECOND-HAND AFTER NOTING THAT IT HAD AN EXTENSIVE DEALER SERVICE HISTORY AND HAD AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. AFTER BUYING IT, IT BEGAN MISFIRING AND WAS DIAGNOSED WITH BAD FUEL INJECTORS, WHICH IS A NOTORIOUS PROBLEM FOR THE BMW N63 ENGINE. CERTAIN PRODUCTION DATES HAVE BEEN GIVEN AN EXTENDED LIMITED WARRANTY - MINE DID NOT. THE MANUFACTURER DID A "CUSTOMER CARE PACKAGE" VOLUNTARY RECALL, WHICH WAS PERFORMED ON MY CAR BUT DIDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM. CONSIDERING THE PROBLEM WITH MY CAR IS A KNOWN DEFECT, I THINK BMW SHOULD STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT AND HAVE IT FIXED, AS IT PRESENTS A VALID SAFETY CONCERN.
ELECTRIC AUXILIARY WATER PUMP FAILURE ON MY 2011 BMW 750LI XDRIVE. SHOULD BE COVERED IN RECALL (NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 11V521000). HOWEVER, BMW REFUSED TO HONOR RECALL. TOOK IN TO RAY CATENA BMW OF WESTCHESTER (543 TARRYTOWN RD., WHITE PLAINS, NY 10607, 914-761-5555) ON 6/27/2017. SHOWED THEM PRINTOUT OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 11V521000. SERVICE MANAGER SAID EVEN THOUGH THE RECALL INCLUDED THE 2011 BMW 750LI XDRIVE, MY SPECIFIC CAR WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL. I HAD TO COME OUT OF POCKET $949.31 TO HAVE THE PART REPLACED. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 BMW 750I US. WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO IDLE ROUGHLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 79,000.
THE ENGINE FAILED IN HEAVY TRAFFIC WHILE ACCELERATING 28,000 MILE ON CAR. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO BMW AND FOR REPAIRS. THE MAIN PROBLEM WAS LEAKING FUEL INJECTORS FAILED WITH NO PRIOR WARNING.. THE TOTAL COST WAS APPROXIMATELY 5K NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. MY CAR HAD PREVIOUSLY HAD AN INSURANCE CLAIM AGAINST IT. PRIOR TO THE PURCHASE OF CAR I CALLED BMW AND WAS TOLD THE WARRANTY WAS STILL IN EFFECT. RECENTLY I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE ONLY AND WAS TOLD THAT IT REQUIRED SUBSTANTIAL WARRANTY REPAIRS. I TOLD THEM ABOUT OUR PREVIOUS WARRANTY DISPUTE WHERE THEY CLAIMED WARRANTY WAS VOIDED. THEY SAID THAT WAS IRRELEVANT FOR THESE REPAIRS AND THEY WOULD COVER IT UNDER N63 CUSTOMER CARE PACKAGE REGARDLESS OF MILEAGE ON VEHICLE. THEY REPLACED MANY COMPONENTS INCLUDING VACUUM PUMP MAF SENSORS AND SEVERAL LINES AND HOSES. THE FUEL INJECTORS WERE ALSO ON THE LIST TO BE REPLACED HOWEVER SINCE I'D ALREADY PAID AND HAD IT DONE PRIOR I NEEDED TO SEND IN THE RECEIPTS TOO BMW CORPORATE FOR REIMBURSEMENT. THE CORPORATE GROUP RESPONDED THAT I WAS NOT COVERED AND REFUSED PAYMENT. I RECEIVED A CALL FROM A LADY WHO STATED THAT SINCE THE CAR WAS NOT OFFICIALLY A RECALL THEY WERE NOT REQUIRED TO DO ANY OF THE REPAIRS. SHE STATED THAT WAS A DISTINCT DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A RECALL AND VOLUNTARY N63 CUSTOMER CARE PACKAGE. THEREFORE THEY'RE ATTEMPT AT AVOIDING A FORMAL RECALL AND BAD PUBLICITY IS LEAVING SOME DANGEROUS CARS ON THE ROAD WITH THE OWNERS BEING UNAWARE THEY COULD HAVE CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE AT ANY MOMENT. BMW SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO NOTIFY ALL OWNERS OF THE DANGER OF DRIVING THESES CARS WITHOUT REPAIR OF DEFECTIVE COMPONENTS. BMW NEVER NOTIFIED ME DESPITE HAVING MY ADDRESS THAT I WAS DRIVING A CAR THAT COULD CATASTROPHICALLY FAIL WITHOUT ADDITIONAL REPAIRS.
I PURCHASED VEHICLE IN SEP 2015. THE VERY 1ST WEEK DRIVING THE VEHICLE, I RECEIVED A TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTION CODE ALMOST EVERY TIME I'M DRIVING AND PICKING UP SPEED WHICH ORIGINATED WHEN 1ST PURCHASED @ 57K MILES. I ADDRESSED IT TO 3RD PARTY MAJOR DEALER, AUTONATION OF TOYOTA IRVINE, CA, AND ALL THEY MANAGED TO PERFORM ON VEHICLE WAS A SOFTWARE UPDATE. FAULTY CODE CONTINUED TO POP UP AND DRIVING CAPABILITIES CONTINUED TO BE DELAYED. I FINALLY GAVE UP AND WENT TO ACQUIRE MY OWN DIAGNOSTICS AND FAULT CODE "400361 RATIO MONITORING/GEARSHIFT 6-5 IMPLAUSIBLE" WHICH HAS BEEN DETERMINED TO BE INTERNAL TRANSMISSION FAILURE AND RECOMMENDATIONS ARE ENTIRE REPLACEMENT (COST REPAIRS OVER $10K). I COMMUNICATED THIS TO THE CEO OF TOYOTA IRVINE NAMED [XXX] AND HE REQUESTED THAT I FORWARD DIAGNOSTIC PROOF AND HE'D AGREE TO SEE WHAT CAN BE DONE. NOW APRIL 2016 STILL HAVE HAD NO RESPOND BACK FROM ANYONE @ TOYOTA AND THEY HAVE JUST BLOWN ME AWAY. FINALLY AS WE SPEAK MY VEHICLE IS NOW @ BMW MONROVIA, CA AWAITING TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT (HAD TO SAVE UP ENOUGH $) AND CURRENTLY HAVE BEEN MADE AWARE OF OTHER RECALLS AND SERVICED FOR SUCH AS TURBO BOOSTER & ENGINE FUEL CRANKCASE LINE HOSES ETC(BULLETIN B001314) AND MAY OR MAY NOT INCLUDE POWER TRAIN BUT INCLUDE TIMING CHAIN, BATTERY, CYLINDER HEAD COVER VENTILATION LINES, FUEL PRESSURE SENSORS AND MASS AIR FLOWS ). VEHICLE NOW @ 70K MILES AND I'VE BEEN MADE AWARE ALSO OF 2 COLLAPSED ENGINE MOUNTS AS WELL. I'VE MADE ALL THIS AWARE TO BMW OF NORTH AMERICA AND AS I CAN AGREE WITH THEM IT'S DIFFICULT TO ACCEPT FAULT DUE TO 3RD PARTY SALE OF VEHICLE. YET, THEY CLAIMED THEY WOULD GET BACK ME WITHIN 24HRS TO VIEW SERVICE HISTORY ETC. ALSO, DEALER CLAIMED THAT THEY COULD PROBABLY GET AWAY WITH CHANGING ONLY TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY BUT BMW OF NORTH AMERICA RECOMMENDED ENTIRE TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT AND A $5K DIFFERENCE IN COST. THANK YOU KINDLY. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 BMW 750I US. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE ELECTRONIC SUSPENSION DISENGAGED AND ENGAGED WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE DIAGNOSTIC RESULTS WERE UNKNOWN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,000.
SINCE I BOUGHT THIS CAR IN 2012, AFTER WARRANTY THE CAR HAS CONSTANT BREAKDOWNS, I HAVE SPENT >3500 DOLLARS IN LAST YEAR, AGAIN GOT A MESSAGE "DRIVE TRAIN MALFUNCTION" ABOUT A WEEK AGO, TOOK TO DEALER ROADSHOW BMW IN MEMPHIS, THEY SAID HIGH FUEL PUMP AND PLUGS NEED TO BE REPLACED IN ABOUT $1000, I AGREED AND LEFT CAR, TWO DAYS LATER THEY CALLED THAT THERE IS ANOTHER 'PLATE LEAKING OIL' AND NEEDS ANOTHER $1000 REPAIR. THIS WAS NOT THERE WHEN I LEFT THE CARE. I CALLED BMW CUSTOMER SERVICE FIRST TIME, ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO, WITH OUT HELP, AND AGAIN YESTERDAY. MY CAR IS IN SHOP AT DEALER.I CAME TO KNOW THAT THIS FUEL PUMP PROBLEM IS VERY COMMONLY REPORTED IN BMW BUT SURPRISINGLY COMPANY HAS NOT RECALLED IT OR ACCEPTING RESPONSIBILITY. THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION THAT COULD RESULT IN FATAL ACCIDENTS AND INJURIES. BMW SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR REPAIRS AND RECALLS AND FIXING THESE PROBLEMS BEFORE FATAL INJURIES OCCUR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 BMW 750I. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THE FUEL PUMP WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. AFTER THE REPAIR, THE TRANSMISSION WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED. THE CONTACT CONTINUED TO EXPERIENCE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER A THIRD TIME. THE CONTACT WAS NOT AWARE OF THE NECESSARY REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,000. *TR
