Air bag light in dashboard seemingly randomly turns on and off while driving and is usually on indicating an issue with the air bag system. To begin with the light was only intermittently on but over time it has reversed and now the light only turns off intermittently.
The engine light continues to come on, with the code for emissions leak. changed the gas-cap, put in Catalatic Converter Cleaner, but did not get rid of the constant code. have been shutting the code off with help from the parts store. The car only has 31,000 miles, the system shouldn't be throwing an emissions code.
The fuel component on this vehicle is the concern. The fuel vapor is very strong inside the car and especially outside around the driver's side. When parked in the garage, the fuel smell would seep into the house. I am afraid to park it inside the garage due to strong fuel vapor coming out of the vehicle. I am afraid that the strong fuel vapor might ignite due to other power sources inside the garage. This issue is well known in the Corvette community, on Corvette Forum. I have scheduled to bring it into a Chevy dealership on 6/8/21 for an inspection and repair. There is no drivability issue with vehicle. It starts and drives fine, just the fuel smell that is overwhelming. There is no sign on fuel leaks on the floor. There is no warning lamps, nothing that would indicate a fuel system issue. The car only has less than 19k miles as of this writing.
Upon filling fuel tank and returning home and parking vehicle in garage, fuel smell and leak was confirmed on floor of garage. Vehicle was taken to a automotive center to have inspected and automotive center stated " fuel leaking when filling with fuel." Automotive center states "was able to inspect with an inspection camera and found that top of fuel tank is leaking at the fuel pump module seal to the tank. Also can see the vapor valve is wet from fuel as well. Recommend both pumps and evap valve." Concerned for safety of vehicle when driving and parked.
I AM A ONE-TIME OWNER OF A 2011 CORVETTE GRAND SPORT VEHICLE. I HAVE NOTICED THAT FOLLOWING A FILLING OF THE GAS TANK TO FULL, A SIGNIFICANT AND PERSISTENT GASOLINE SMELL APPEARS IN MY GARAGE. I EVENTUALLY BROUGHT MY VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE ON FEBRUARY 3, 2021 IN ORDER TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE. I WAS TOLD THAT A GAS LEAK WAS OBSERVED FROM THE TOP OF THE TANK. IN ADDITION, I WAS TOLD THAT THE EXPENSIVE REPLACEMENT OF THE GAS TANK COULD NOT BE FOUND. I AM NOW VERY RELUCTANT TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE.
I HAVE A 2011 CHEVROLET CORVETTE WITH ABOUT 34,000 MILES ON IT. THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SHIFT LINKAGE CABLE HAS PLASTIC GROMMETS THAT CONNECT THE SHIFT HANDLE TO THE TRANSMISSION. THE PLASTIC GROMMETS BROKE DISABLING THE ABILITY TO SHIFT OUT OF PARK INTO ANY GEAR. I WAS PARKED IN A PARKING LOT WHEN THIS HAPPENED. MY CONCERN IS IF THIS HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING YOU WILL LOSE CONTROL OF THE CAR.
THE 2011 CORVETTE STARTED HAVING STRONG FUEL SMELL AFTER DRIVING
EVERY TIME I FUEL UP PASSED HALF , THERE IS A STRONG SCENT OF FUEL IN THE CAR THAT WON'T GO AWAY.
WHEN FUEL TANK IS FULL FUEL LEAKS FROM TANK SMELL FUMES
I JUST BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE AND MY GARAGE NOW STINKS OF FUEL
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND HAS A P0442. I CAN SMELL FUEL AFTER LIGHT COMES ON MOSTLY AND LOWER SPEEDS (UNDER 10 MPH) AND ALWAYS AT A STOP. WHEN I FILL UP IT IS A DEFINITE UNDER BOTH CIRCUMSTANCES. I WAS POINTED TO A NEW GAS CAP. I'VE REPLACED 2 AND THE CODE CONTINUES TO RETURN AND THE SMELL OF FUEL IS OUTSTANDING AND SEEMS UNSAFE FOR THE POTENCY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET CORVETTE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH AND MAKING A SLIGHT LEFT TURN, THE BRAKES ERRONEOUSLY APPLIED CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO ABRUPTLY STOP. DURING THE FAILURE, THE MESSAGE SERVICE ACTIVE HANDLING SYSTEM WAS DISPLAYED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER JIM TRENARY CHEVROLET (501 AUTO MALL DR, O'FALLON, MO 63368) AND DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE STEERING COLUMN WAS REPLACED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000.
GAS LEAKING FROM DRIVER'S SIDE TANK. TANK IS MORE THAN HALF FULL AND ODOR IS VERY NOTICEABLE WHEN PARKED IN GARAGE.
MY 2011 GRAND SPORT CORVETTE HAS A FUEL SMELL/LEAK ON THE DRIVER SIDE FUEL TANK. GM HAS ALREADY RECOGNIZED THIS DEFECT. I NEED THIS REPAIR MADE ON THIS DEFECT MADE AT GM'S EXPENSE.
THE FRONT RIGHT BRAKE HOSE THAT CONNECTS THE BRAKE 'HARD LINES' TO THE CALIPER FAILED. THE RUBBER PORTION SEPARATED FROM THE FITTING ON THE CALIPER CAUSING COMPLETE BRAKE FAILURE. BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND ALL BRAKE FLUID DUMPED OUT ONTO THE GROUND AND INSIDE OF THE WHEEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING AT HIGH SPEED UNDER HARD BRAKE PRESSURE. MIRACULOUSLY, I WAS ABLE TO SWERVE AROUND OBSTACLES AND AVOID SERIOUS COLLISION. I'M LUCKY TO BE ALIVE TO WRITE THIS COMPLAINT. UPON REMOVING THE WHEEL, THE BRAKE HOSE WAS HANGING FREE OF THE CALIPER DRAINING WHAT WAS LEFT OF THE CONTENTS OF THE BRAKE SYSTEM ON THE GROUND.
I HAD JUST PUT GAS IN THE CAR. PARKED IT AND LATER NOTICED A GAS FUEL ODOR IN MY GARAGE. AFTER RESEACHING IT ON LINE, THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE. THERE IS A FUEL TANK ISSUE WITH THE CAR AND GM IS NOT TAKING RESPONSIBLITY FOR IT.
I PURCHASED 2011 C6 CORVETTE. I HAD THE CORVETTE REPAIR BECAUSE I VERY BAD GAS SMELL INSIDE AND OUTSIDE.. SO I TAKE IT TO CORVETTE MECHANIC. IT COST ME 4K TO FIX.. OUCH ..I BEEN LOOKING FOR RECALL ON THIS YEAR AND FOUND NOTHING.. I FOUND ON 06 CORVETTE. BUT THE SAMETHING IS HAPPEN ON THE 2011 C6 .. WHY? I CAN'T PLACE THE VETTE IN MY GARAGE BECAUSE THE SMELL WAS TOO BAD..
GEAR SHIFTER FAILED. STUCK IN DRIVE...HAD TO SHUT CAR OFF TO STOP MOTION AND AVOID COLLISION. OTHER REPORTS INDICATE NUMEROUS SIMILAR FAILURES ON LOW MILEAGE CORVETTES.
AFTER FILLING UP HAD FUEL SMELL IN GARAGE
DEAR SIR OR MADAM, I PURCHASED A USED 2011 CORVETTE A YEAR AGO. THERE IS A STRONG ODOR OF GASOLINE NEAR THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR WHEEL WELL WHEN THE TANK IS NEAR FULL. THIS HAS OCCURRED FROM THE FIRST DAY I BOUGHT IT AND CONTINUES TODAY. I HAVE REPLACED THE GAS CAP WITH NO IMPROVEMENT. I BECAME AWARE OF RECALL FOR CRACKING OF THE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY WHICH PRODUCES A GASOLINE VAPOR LEAK.. THE RECALL IS FROM JULY 2016, REF# N150682, GWM# 2015682. I FOUND THE RECALL INFORMATION ON A CORVETTE FORUM. THE LETTER SAYS THE RECALL IS GOOD FOR 10 YEARS FROM THE IN-SERVICE DATE WITH UNLIMITED MILEAGE. SO IT SHOULD STILL BE AVAILABLE FOR MY 2011 VEHICLE. I CONTACTED MY LOCAL DEALER AND THEY SAID THERE IS NO RECALL SHOWING ON THE GM SYSTEM FOR MY CAR. THE DEALER IS MARCHANT CHEVROLET, 5700 SAVANNAH HIGHWAY, RAVENEL SC 29470, 843-564-1394. CAN YOU HELP ME GET THE DEALER TO RECOGNIZE THE RECALL? THANK YOU, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR
CAR APPLIED RIGHT FRONT BRAKE ON THE STREET IN FRONT OF MY HOUSE, CAUSING A SEVERE SWERVE INTO SHOULDER OF ROAD. THERE IS A KNOWN ACTIVE HANDLING FAULT ON THESE CARS. IT HAS BEEN IN FOR REPAIR TWICE. THE CAR ONLY HAS 3200 MILES ON IT. THERE IS A SERVICE ACTIVE HANDLING LIGHT ON THE DASH NOW. DEALER HAS ATTEMPTED TO REPAIR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET CORVETTE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THERE WAS FIRE UNDER THE HOOD AND ALL WARNING LIGHTS ON THE INSTRUMENTAL PANEL ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THE FIRE EXTINGUISHED INDEPENDENTLY, ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO JEFF WYLER DIXIE CHEVROLET (5340 DIXIE HWY, LOUISVILLE, KY 40216) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A MISFIRE CYLINDER NUMBER 6 AND FRACTURED VALVE SPRING NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE COVER TO GO OVER THE SPRING WAS BURNT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THE FAILURE RECURRED THREE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE INTAKE GASKET UNDERNEATH THE MANIFOLD NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN ONCE AGAIN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THIS TIME WITH A MANIFOLD, THE COIL SPARK CORD AND MISFIRE CYLINDER 5 AND 6 NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE 37,015.
CAR HAS A VERY STRONG FUEL ODOR WHEN FILLING TANK OVER HALF FULL. THE FUEL GAUGE WILL SOMETIMES GO TO EMPTY PROMPTING A " SERVICE FUEL SYSTEM" MESSAGE ON DISPLAY SCREEN FOR 30-40 SECONDS, THEN GOES BACK TO PREVIOUS LEVEL READING. I'VE OWNED CAR FOR 4 YEARS, I REMEMBER GETTING A G.M. RECALL NOTICE IN THE MAIL ABOUT A FUEL SYSTEM RECALL SHORTLY AFTER BUYING IT, BUT I CAN'T FIND IT NOW.
I OWN A 2011 CORVETTE C6 AND IN THE LAST 2 MONTHS, I GET A STRONG SMELL OF GAS THAT IS CONSTANT. I HAVE READ THREADS ON THE CORVETTE FORMS AND FOUND THIS IS A CRACK IN THE FUEL PUMP AND IT LEAKS OUT AND COLLECTS INTO THE PAN THAT SUPPORTS THE GAS TANK. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND CAN START A FIRE ALONG WITH FUMES IN THE GARAGE AND SOMETIME GAS WATER HEATERS ARE LOCATED IN THE GARAGE. I CANNOT BELIEVE THIS IS NOT A RECALL.
AFTER REFUELING VEHICLE THERE ARE STRONG GAS FUMES IN THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING CAUSING ME TO VENT THE CAR INTERIORS BY LOWERING THE WINDOWS AND APPLY THE A/C FANS ON HIGH........ ALSO THE CAR HORNS STOPPED WORKING WITHOUT REASON WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC AND ALSO AFFECTED THE ALARM SYSTEM
SMELL OF GAS. MAINLY FROM THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR WHEEL. MOST NOTICEABLE WHILE PARK BUT NOTICEABLE WHILE DRIVING AS WELL.
WHILE DRIVING OVER 30 MPH THE CAR WILL BRAKE AND THE DIGITAL INFORMATION CENTER WILL SHOW "ACTIVE HANDLING SYSTEM" AND VEHICLE IS NOT DRIVEABLE AND IS A SAFETY RISK
EVERY TIME I FILL THE GAS TANK, THE CAR SMELLS HEAVILY OF GAS FUMES FOR DAYS. I WAS TOLD IT IS A LEAK FROM THE TOP OF THE GAS TANK, AND THE MECHANIC TOLD ME HE HAS SEEN THIS A LOT WITH THIS MODEL/YEAR OF CORVETTES. IT'S CAUSED MY FUEL ECONOMY TO DROP, AND MY FUEL GAUGE WILL SOMETIMES SHUT OFF COMPLETELY.
WHEN I FILL UP WITH FUEL, I SMELL GAS IN THE CAR. FOR THIS TO OCCUR, SOMETHING MUST BE LEAKING SOMEWHERE. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED.
AFTER EVERY TANK FILL UP , STRONG FUEL SMELL ODOR COMES FROM THE LEFT SIDE (DOVER SIDE ) WHEEL WELD. ALSO IS STRONG WHEN SITTING IN CAR . GOES AWAY AFTER FUELCLEVER STARTS TO DROP TO EMPTY
BOUGHT A 2011 CORVETTE . HAD A STRONG GAS SMELL WHEN PARKED . INSIDE AND OUT OF CAR . TOOK CAR IN FOR INSPECTION . TECH SAID IT'S A COMMON PROBLEM ON C6 SERIES CORVETTES THAT THE FUEL PUMP AREA HAS GAS LEAKS . I PARKED CAR INSIDE GARAGE AND THE GAS SMELL IS SO STRONG , I'M AFRAID TO PARK IT INSIDE BECAUSE OF FIRE HAZARDS . I HAVE PICTURES OF PROBLEM . CHEVROLET IS AWARE OF THESE CARS DOING THIS . IT'S IN THE WEB SIGHTS OF CORVETTE OWNERS FOR SAME PROBLEMS. THEY NEED TO RECALL THESE FOR REPAIR FOR FIRE HAZARD TO CAR , HOUSE AND INJURY TO PERSON OWNING THEM .
I BOUGHT THE 2011 CHEVROLET CORVETTE ABOUT A YEARS, DROVE IT LESS THEN 2000 MILE, ALWAYS FILL GAS CORRECTLY BUT THIS FOLLOWING WEEK I GOT A LEAK SOMEWHERE ON MY LEFT FUEL TANK AND IT SMELLING BAD IN MY PARKING GARAGE, FUEL LEAK ON THE DRIVER SIDE RANK.
ALL OF A A SUDDEN THERE IS A SMELL OF GAS NOT ONLY IN THE CAR BUT AROUND THE CAR. I THINK THAT CAN BE A SAFETY HAZARD. TO DATE I HAVE NO RECALL OF ANYTHING ON THE GAS PUMP OR FUEL TANK
TRANSMISSION LINKAGE GOING BAD DUE TO PLASTIC BUSHING NEXT TO EXHAUST
THE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY IS LEAKING AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THERE IS A VERY STRONG SMELL OF GAS COMING FROM THE CAR WHEN PARKED. THE MANUFACTURER IS REFUSING TO COVER THIS REPAIR AND IT IS HAZARDOUS TO DRIVE THE CAR IN THE CURRENT STATE.
LS7 MOTOR INTAKE VALVES WERE OUT OF SPEC, AT 30,000 MILES, REPLACED HEADS AND VALVES, VALVE SPRINGS.
WHEN THE ENGINE IS WARM, THE UNDERHOOD BUSSED ELECTRICAL CENTER (UBEC) HOUSING WILL EXPAND, CAUSING THE HEADLAMP LOW-BEAM RELAY CONTROL CIRCUIT ROUTED WIRE TO BEND SLIGHTLY. AFTER THE WIRE IS REPEATEDLY BENT, IT HAS FRACTURED AND SEPARATED. WHEN THIS OCCURS, THE LOW-BAEM HEADLAMPS WILL NOT ILLUMINATE. AS THE UBEC HOUSING COOLS AND CONTRACTS, THE LOW-BEAM HEADLAMP FUNCTION MAY RETURN. THIS CONDITION IS NOT AFFECTING THE HIGH-BEAM HEADLAMPS, MARKER LAMPS, TURN SIGNALS, DAYTIME RUNNING LAMPS OR FOG LAMPS. LOSS OF LOW BEAM HEADLAMPS WHEN THEY ARE REQUIRED COULD REDUCE THE DRIVER'S VISIBILITY, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH .....WHICH WOULD BE FATAL. APPEARS THAT OTHER YEAR CORVETTES HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE (SEE DEC 2014 BULLETIN 13146 "RECALL BULLETIN" - LOW-BEAM HEADLAMPS INOPERATIVE." GM ADMITS TO A "CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM" WHICH IS NOT A "RECALL." AND THAT THEY ARE NOT REQUIRED TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. SWEET! HOW CONVENIENT FOR GM.
I AM EXPERIENCING A FUEL ODOR NEAR THE DRIVER DOOR AND INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PARKED IN MY GARAGE, THE FUEL ODOR TAKES OVER THE GARAGE. THIS SMELL EXIST WHEN VEHICLE IS PARKED AND IN MOTION.
I HAVE A BAD RATTLE NOISE COMING FROM UNDER THE CAR. IT SOUNDS LIKE SOME BEARING, OR MARBLES ARE LOOSE. IT HAPPENS WHEN CAR IS IN DRIVE AND AT A STOP LIGHT OR PARKED. MY PERSONAL MECHANIC PINPOINTED THE ISSUE TO THE TORQUE TUBE/ FLEX PLATE BEARINGS.
FUEL LEAK FROM CRACK IN FUEL PUMP. STRONG GASOLINE ODOR CAN BE DETECTED FROM DRIVER SIDE REAR TIRE. THIS IS A KNOWN COMMON PROBLEM WITH C5 AND C6 CORVETTE AND CAN CAUSE FIRE AS FUEL LEAKS IS COLLECTED IN PAN NEXT TO HOT EXHAUST PIPE.
HELLO THERE, MY CAR IS A CHEVROLET CORVETTE 2011 GRAND SPORT. EVERY TIME I FILL GAS UP, THERE IS A STRONG SMELL IN THE PASSENGER SIDE THAT EVENTUALLY BECOMES UNBEARABLE. I HAVE TRIED UNSUCCESSFULLY TO LOCATE A LEAK AND EVEN INSTALLED A NEW GAS CAP AS PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE BUT THE ISSUE PERSISTS. I HAVE SEARCHED THE FORUMS AND SPOKE WITH DIFFERENT MECHANICS ABOUT MY SITUATION AND THEY MENTIONED A SAFETY RECALL ADDRESSING THIS ISSUE ON SAME MODEL YEARS AND RECENTLY A FRIEND OF MINE CAME UPON THE SAME ISSUE AND WAS REPAIRED BY THE DEALERSHIP UNDER THAT RECALL. I TOOK MINE TO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP SERVICE AND THEY DENIED THE EXISTENCE OF SUCH RECALL. I'M REACHING OUT TO YOU FOR HELP SOLVING THIS SITUATION. SINCERELY [XXX]. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR
CLUTCH PEDAL DOES NOT RETURN. PEDAL IS AT APPROX. 1/2 HEIGHT UP FROM FLOOR SURFACE THAN WHAT IT SHOULD BE ... PEDAL THROW IS MINIMAL.. HOWEVER, CLUTCH SYSTEM WORKS CORRECTLY. I WAS DRIVING ON A ROAD 40 MPH WHEN I REALIZED THE PEDAL WAS NOT IN ITS NORMAL POSITION
ON 8/4/2017, I WENT INTO REVERSE AT A PARKING LOT AND A/T SHIFT BECAME LOOSE. COULD NOT SHIFT INTO DRIVE AND ONLY COULD MOVE BACK REGARDLESS OF GEAR SELECTED. THIS MALFUNCTION COULD HAVE LET ME EXPOSED TO INCOMING TRAFFIC. A MECHANIC FRIEND OF MINE FOUND THAT A BROKEN BUSHING AND STRETCHED SHIFTER CABLE WERE CAUSING THE PROBLEM. MY CAR IS LESS THAN 32 000 MILES AND WELL KEPT.
STRONG SMELL OF GASOLINE INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF MY 2011 C6 CORVETTE GRAND SPORT WITH NO VISIBLE FUEL LEAKS. THE SMELL IS EVIDENT AFTER FILLING THE CAR UP, WHILE DRIVING BELOW 40 MPH AND ESPECIALLY WHEN TURNING ON A LONG SWEEPING LEFT TURN. THE LOCAL CHEVROLET SERVICE CENTER QUOTED $1,800 TO REPAIR. THE SERVICE WRITER STATED HE HAS SEEN NUMEROUS IDENTICAL ISSUES ON THE C6 CORVETTES.MY VEHICLE HAS 44,000 MILES. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT DRIVING MY CAR BUT I HAVE OVERSPENT ON THE CAR AND CANNOT AFFORD WHIMSICALLY SPENDING NEARLY $2000 FOR A PROBLEM THAT SHOULD NOT BE OCCURRING.
GAS SMELL IN GARAGE AFTER VEHICLE IS PARKED. HAPPENS RANDOMLY AND GAS CAP HAS BEEN VERIFIED TO BE CLOSED CORRECTLY. ALSO HAS FUMES INSIDE CAR AFTER BEING PARKED UNDER THE SAME CIRCUMSTANCES.
FUEL SMELL WHEN I FILL THE TANK.
DURING HARDER ACCELERATION, THE AIRBAG WARNING INDICATOR LIGHT COMES ON. AFTER THE ENGINE IS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED, THE INDICATOR IS OFF. THIS CONDITION HAS ONLY OCCURRED WITH HEAVY ACCELERATION, BUT HAPPENS EVERY TIME.
"SERVICE ACTIVE HANDLING SYSTEM HAS BEEN SHOWN ON THE DISPLAY SINCE I PURCHASED THE CAR O 3/23/16 WITH 1238 MILES. CAR HAS BEEN AT THE DEALER FOR OVER A WEEK AND STILL NO FIXED.
WHILE DRIVING I WOULD HEAR RATTLING NOISES COMING FROM UNDER THE VEHICLE. I TOOK IT TO A REPAIR FACILITY AND IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT A PROPELLER SHAFT BOLT INSIDE THE TORQUE TUBE ASSEMBLY CAME LOSE AND DAMAGED THE BEARING INSIDE THE TORQUE TUBE. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED THE TRANSMISSION TO FREEZE/FAIL, LOSE CONTROL AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. I HAD TO HAVE THE ENTIRE TORQUE TUBE ASSEMBLY REMOVED AND REPLACED. THIS OCCURRED ONE WEEK AFTER THE EXPIRATION OF GM'S FIVE YEAR DRIVETRAIN WARRANTY.
I HAVE A VERY STRONG FUEL SMELL IN MY GARAGE AFTER I DRIVE MY CAR. I REPLACED THE GAS CAP AND IT DID NOT GO AWAY. IT IS STRONGER WHEN I HAVE FILLED THE TANK (I DO NOT OVERFILL). I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS ISSUE ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND THAT QUITE A FEW OWNERS OF C6 CORVETTED HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM. MY FEAR IS THAT FUEL IS BEING SPRAYED FROM A CRACK IN THE TOP OF THE FUEL PUMP JUST OUTSIDE THE TANK AND COULD RESULT IN A FIRE AND INJURY. SEE THE YOUTUBE VIDEO AT HTTPS://WWW.YOUTUBE.COM/WATCH?V=P9E3MD122MG.
I BEGAN NOTICING A STRONG GASOLINE ODOR COMING FROM THE CAR. I RESEARCHED THIS SYMPTOM AND DISCOVERED IT WAS A COMMON AND WELL KNOWN PROBLEM RELATED TO DEFECTIVE FUEL PUMPS FOR MY MODEL YEAR CAR. SPECIFICALLY, THE FUEL PUMPS DEVELOP CRACKS IN THE SUPPLY OUTLET OF THE PUMP, AND THEN LEAK FUEL ALONG THE TOP OF THE TANK, WHICH THEN FLOWS DOWN THE SIDE OF THE TANK. I HAD TO REPLACE THE PUMP, WHICH THE DEALER NOW SHOWS HAVING A DIFFERENT PART NUMBER THAN THE ORIGINAL.
FUEL PUMP CRACKED AND PUMPING GAS OUTSIDE THE TANKS ONTO THE CAR. FUEL PUMP HAD TO BE REPLACED. COULD SMELL GAS INSIDE THE CAR AND OUTSIDE
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET CORVETTE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, A FUEL ODOR EMITTED IN AND OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP WAS FRACTURED AND LEAKING FUEL. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,860.
THE AIR BAG LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD APPEARS DURING VEHICLE ACCELERATION, WHILE IN MOTION, INDICATING THAT THE AIR BAG SYSTEM IS NO LONGER FUNCTIONING. TO ADD INSULT TO INJURY, I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO GORDON CHEVROLET (ADDRESS BELOW) FOR SERVICE. THE DEALER CHANGED THE FRONT IMPACT SENSORS OF THE VEHICLE AT MY COST. UPON RECEIVING THE VEHICLE BACK, IT IMMEDIATELY REPORTED THAT THE AIRBAG SYSTEM WAS STILL NOT FUNCTIONING CORRECTLY (AIR BAG LIGHT). TO THIS DATE THE DEALER REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE ISSUE, WOULD NOT REFUND ME FOR MISDIAGNOSES AND WILL NOT RETURN MY PHONE CALLS REGARDING A REMEDY TO THE ISSUE. GORDON CHEVROLET (904) 272-2200 1166 BLANDING BLVD, ORANGE PARK, FL 32065
STRONG SMELL OF GASOLINE INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF MY 2011 C6 CORVETTE GRAND SPORT WITH NO VISIBLE FUEL LEAKS. THE GARAGE IS FILLED WITH THE SMELL OF GAS ANYTIME THE CAR IS PARKED WITH OVER 1/2 A TANK OVERNIGHT. THE LOCAL CHEVROLET SERVICE CENTER QUOTED $1,600 TO PULL THE FUEL TANK AND REPLACE THE LEFT FUEL PUMP. THE SERVICE WRITER STATED HE HAS SEEN NUMEROUS IDENTICAL ISSUES ON THE C6 CORVETTES AND EVEN SHOWED ME PHOTOS ON HIS PHONE OF WHERE THE FUEL PUMP CRACKS ON THE THE TOP. MY VEHICLE HAS 46,000 MILES. I NO LONGER FEEL SAFE PARKING MY CAR IN MY GARAGE NEXT TO MY GAS WATER HEATER.
THE AIRBAG READINESS LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY AFTER COMPLETING SELF CHECK DIAGNOSTICS THAT ARE INITIATED WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STARTED. THIS INDICATES THE SYSTEM MAY NOT BE WORKING PROPERLY AND MAY NOT INFLATE IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH OR COULD DEPLOY WITHOUT A CRASH. ALSO, THE SEAT BELT PRETENSIONER MAY NOT WORK PROPERLY. CHEVROLET DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM IN DECEMBER, 2014. A CONNECTOR FROM THE SEAT BELT AND SIDE IMPACT AIR BAG SENSORS HAD DISLODGED FROM A RETAINED POSITION (CLIP ATTACHED TO A BAR) UNDERNEATH THE DRIVER'S SEAT. THE TECHNICIAN REATTACHED THE CONNECTOR USING THE CLIP TO THE FASTEN IT TO THE BAR UNDER THE SEAT AND CLEARED ERROR MESSAGES FROM THE COMPUTER. THIS ELIMINATED THE AIRBAG READINESS LIGHT. THE TECHNICIAN BELIEVED THAT THE MOVEMENT OF THE SEAT WITH THE CONNECTOR IMPROPERLY SECURED CAUSED THE PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM RECURRED ON JANUARY 2, 2015, ONCE UPON START UP, CLEARED, AND THEN AGAIN WHILE DRIVING. I CHECKED THE CONNECTOR AND IT AGAIN HAD DISLODGED. WHEN THE CONNECTOR IS ATTACHED TO THE BAR UNDER THE SEAT, THE CONNECTOR IT IS SO CLOSE TO THE FLOOR THAT WHEN THE SEAT IS MOVED, THE CONNECTOR DRAGS ON THE FLOOR, DISLODGING IT. THE SEAT MOVEMENT APPARENTLY RESULTS IN A LOSS OF CONTINUITY IN THE SYSTEM ILLUMINATING THE AIRBAG READINESS LIGHT. THE VEHICLE HAS A MEMORY SEAT AND HENCE, IT MOVES ITS FULL TRAVEL DISTANCE BACK UPON EXITING THE VEHICLE AND THEN RETURNS TO A PRESET POSITION UPON STARTING THE CAR. MY CONCERN IS THAT, ACCORDING TO THE OWNER'S MANUAL, THIS MAY DISABLE THE SIDE IMPACT AIR BAG, CAUSE IT TO DEPLOY WITHOUT A CRASH AND CAUSE THE SHOULDER BELT PRETENSIONER TO FAIL IN AN ACCIDENT. SINCE THE PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT, THE PROBLEM COULD OCCUR AT ANY TIME. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET CORVETTE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, A CHIME SOUNDED AND ALL THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,000.
VEHICLE PARKED ON LEVEL GROUND IN STORE PARKING LOT. PERSON PARKED NEXT TO MY CAR STATED, HEARD "WEIRD NOISES', COMING FROM VEHICLE THEN IT STARTED TO ROLL INTO DYED SWAMP. CAR EQUIPPED WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION.VEHICLE WILL NOT START WITH TRANSMISSION IN PARKED POSITION BUT WILL CONTINUE TO ROLL FORWARD WITH TRANSMISSION IN PARKED POSITION ON ITS OWN. AIR BAGS WAS NOT DEPLOYED & HAD TO BE TOWED. TRANSMISSION PROBLEM? *TR
AFTER DRIVING THE CAR FOR TWO HOURS IT WAS PARKED FOR SEVEN HOURS. UPON RESTARTING THE AIR BAG READINESS LIGHT CAME ON FLASHING AND WOULD NOT TURN OFF. THE PASSENGER AIRBAG STATUS INDICATOR HAS ALSO STOPPED WORKING.SO THE SYSTEM DOES NOT KNOW IF SOMEBODY IS SITTING IN THE SEAT. ACCORDING TO THE OWNER'S MANUAL IT ALSO INDICATES THAT THE AIR BAGS MAY NOT DEPLOY IN AN ACCIDENT. *TR
AIR BAG GO ON AND OFF INTERMITTENTLY - CHEVY DEALER SAYS THERE IS NO KNOW PROBLEM. *TR
OPERATING VEHICLE IN HEAVY TRAFFIC, STOP AND GO FOR 30 MINUTES. ACCELERATING FROM TRAFFIC LIGHT, MAKING GEAR CHANGE FROM SECOND TO THIRD AT 25 MPH CLUTCH PEDDLE WENT TO FLOOR HARD, UNABLE TO COMPLETE GEAR CHANGE. VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION WITH NO POWER, TRAFFIC BEHIND VEHICLE MADE HARD STOP TO AVOID HITTING MY CAR. CAUSED MAJOR TRAFFIC JAM UNTIL VEHICLE COULD BE PUSHED OFF ROAD. *TR
THE AIRBAG MELTED. *TR
I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR INTO DEALERSHIP MULTIPLE TIMES WITH PROBLEM OF THE AIR BAG SENSOR LIGHT COMING ON AND OFF WHILE I AM DRIVING MY CAR. TO DATE THE ISSUE HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED AND I AM VERY CONCERNED THAT IF I AM IN A CAR ACCIDENT AND THAT AIR BAG SENSOR DOES NOT FUNCTION CORRECTLY. I THINK THERE IS SOME TYPE OF FLAW WITH THIS SENSOR AND IT NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED . *TR
AS I LEFT THE GROCERY STORE I STARTED TO HEAD HOME WHEN THE 11 CORVETTE GS SENT A MESSAGE TO THE DIC ON THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER, IT SAID TO SERVICE ACTIVE HANDLING, THE PROBLEM IS IT LOCKS UP THE FRONT BRAKES, WHILE THIS MAY NOT SOUND TOO SERIOUS AT LOW SPEEDS, IMAGINE PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC AND THE BRAKES LOCK UP ON YOUR CAR. IT OCCURS PULLING ONTO GRASS OR LOOSE GRAVEL ALSO, ESPECIALLY IN TURNS. I HAVE TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND RESTART IT FOR IT TO MOVE AGAIN. MY WIFE STARTED READING THE HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ON SERVICE THE ACTIVE HANDLING ON THE CORVETTE FORUMS AND WHAT IT HAS DONE TO THE VEHICLES FROM PEOPLE THAT HAD ISSUES WITH THERE VEHICLES WHEN THE SERVICE ACTIVE HANDLING MESSAGE APPEARED ON THERE (DIC) DIGITAL INFORMATION CENTER THAT SHE NO LONGER RIDES IN THE CAR WITH ME. THIS VEHICLE HAS SEEN MORE DEALER SERVICE THAN ANY OTHER VEHICLE THAT I HAVE OWNED. *TR
CAR IS A 2011 CORVETTE GRAND SPORT COUPE. INTERMITTENT DISPLAY OF "MAX SPEED 80 MPH, SERVICE ACTIVE HANDLING, SERVICE TRACTION SYSTEM AND THE SECURITY LIGHT FOR THE ANTITHEFT SYSTEM STAYS ON. WHEN YOU TURN THE CAR OFF AND RESTART 1-2 TIMES, CODES CLEAR AND OPERATION RETURNS TO NORMAL. TOOK CAR BACK TO DEALER THREE TIMES. LAST TIME (28000 MILES) THEY KEPT CAR OVERNIGHT AND DROVE OVER 100 MILES BEFORE THEY FINALLY REPRODUCED THE PROBLEM. ON 6/12/12 THEY REPLACED THE EBCM AND INVOICE DESCRIPTION SAID "28216 CHECKED AND FOUND CODES P2548 AND P0856. PERFORMED DIAGNOSTIC FOR CODES AND FOUND INTERMITTENT LOSS OF DATA FROM EBCM TO ECM. REPLACED EBCM AND REPROGRAMMED MODULE. CODE #28841. RECHECKED AFTER REPAIRS OK AT THIS TIME". PROBLEM RECURRED LAST WEEK ON 8/26/12 AT 33000 MILES. WILL TAKE BACK TO DEALER THIS WEEK. *TR
AUTO LOW BEAMS DO NOT WORK AT NIGHT INTERMITTENTLY. GREEN HEADLIGHT ON INDICATOR IS LIT. THE SWITCH WILL NOT TURN THEM ON EITHER. HIGH BEAMS WORK AND FOG LIGHTS WORK. HAPPENED A FEW TIMES, DEALER SAYS THEY CAN'T FIND ANY TROUBLE CODES OR PROBLEMS. THEY SAID BRIG IT BACK WHILE IT IS HAPPENING. TURNING ALL LIGHTS OFF GIVES A WARNING "HEADLIGHTS SUGGESTED" INDICATING THE SENSOR IS WORKING. I START THE CAR IN A DARK GARAGE AND LIGHTS WORK. I MADE A PAINTER'S TAPE COVER TO COVER THE LIGHT SENSOR SO IF I EXPERIENCE THE PROBLEM IN DAY TIME, I CAN DRIVE IT TO THE DEALER MAKING THE CAR THINK IT'S STILL DARK. $65,000 FOR A CAR WITH INTERMITTENT HEADLIGHT? *TR
MY HUSBAND WAS PUMPING GAS AT A GAS STATION ON AN INTERSTATE ACCESS ROAD. CAR WAS NOT RUNNING AND WAS LOCKED. HE HAD BEEN AT THE PUMP FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES AND THEN WALKED INTO THE STORE FOR SOMETHING TO DRINK. ALL OF A SUDDEN I HEARD PEOPLE YELLING AND TURNED TO LOOK AND THEN SAW MY HUSBAND'S UNMANNED CAR SLOWLY ROLLING OUT OF THE GAS STATION INTO THE ACCESS ROAD DURING RUSH HOUR. A COUPLE OF INDIVIDUALS TRIED TO STOP THE CAR BUT IT WAS LOCKED AND MY HUSBAND HAD THE KEYS IN HIS POCKET. SEVERAL VEHICLES SWERVED TO MISS THE CAR BUT IT EVENTUALLY HIT AN INDIVIDUAL'S VEHICLE IN THE CENTER LANE OF THE ACCESS ROAD CAUSING DAMAGE TO BOTH VEHICLES. *TR
