MY AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND WHEN I INVESTIGATED I FOUND IT WAS PROBABLY RELATED TO THE FRONT AIR BAG SENSORS. WHEN I EXAMINED THE SENSORS I FOUND THAT THE ALUMINUM ALLOY BODY AND THE PLASTIC SHIELD SURROUNDING IT HAD SPLIT WIDE APART WHERE THE STEEL MOUNTING SCREW PASSED THROUGH THE SENSOR HOUSING. BOTH SENSORS HAVE FAILED IN EXACTLY THE SAME MANOR. THE VEHICLE HAS 83,000 MILES ON IT AND DOES NOT HAVE ANY OTHER OF ADVANCED CORROSION ANYWHERE ELSE. I CONTACTED GM AND THEY SEEMED TO HAVE NO INTEREST AND ADVISED ME TO TAKE IT TO A DEALER AND HAVE IT REPAIRED AT MY OWN EXPENSE.
WE DEVELOPED A SIGNIFICANT LEAK IN A REAR BRAKE LINE OF OUR VAN. THE LEAK DID NOT LEAD TO A LOSS OF CONTROL, BUT THE BRAKE RESERVOIR WAS NEARLY EMPTY WHEN I DISCOVERED THE ISSUE. THE LEAK WAS DISCOVERED BASED ON A LARGE SPOT LEFT ON OUR DRIVEWAY UNDER THE VAN. THE VEHICLE WAS PROBABLY DRIVEN ABOUT 50-100 MILES (ONE TO TWO DAYS) AFTER THE LEAK DEVELOPED BUT BEFORE THE ISSUE WAS DISCOVERED AND ADDRESSED. WHILE FIXING THE PROBLEM, I FOUND THAT THE LEAK WAS DUE TO AN ASSEMBLY ERROR. THE VAN'S FUEL FILLER DOWN-PIPE HAS A WORM-GEAR CLAMP THAT WAS NOT PROPERLY CLOCKED. THIS CAUSED THE CLAMP TO RUB ONE OF THE REAR BRAKE LINES AND WEAR A HOLE IN IT. I SENT TWO PICTURES SHOWING THE CLAMP AND BRAKE LINE AS I DISCOVERED THEM. I ALSO SENT A PICTURE OF THE DAMAGED LINE AFTER BEING REMOVED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VAN HAD ABOUT 87,000 MILES WHEN THE LEAK DEVELOPED.
WHEN APPLYING BRAKES TO STOP THE BRAKE PEDDLE VIBRATES AND THE CAR SHIFTS FORWARD A LITTLE AND THE STEERING COLUMN MAKES A WINDING NOISE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET EXPRESS 1500 CARGO VAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE LOW BEAM HEAD LAMPS HAD FAILED ON FIVE SEPARATE OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO REPLACED THE HEAD LAMPS EACH TIME. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURES WERE NOT DETERMINED. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,000. *BF CONSUMER STATED SEALED BEAM LAMPS ON BOTH SIDES WERE REPLACED MULITPLE TIMES. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET EXPRESS. WHILE DRIVING AND SLOWING DOWN, THE VEHICLE AGGRESSIVELY DOWNSHIFTED, THE BRAKE PEDAL INDEPENDENTLY DEPRESSED, AND THE VEHICLE LUNGED FORWARD. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED ABOUT THE HARD UPSHIFTS AND DOWNSHIFTS OF THE TRANSMISSION. WHEN THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED AFTER APPROXIMATELY 15 MINUTES, THE VEHICLE OPERATED AS INTENDED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO VERA MOTORS (300 S UNIVERSITY DR., PEMBROKE PINES, FL 33025, (954) 362-9458) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,000.
UPON INSPECTION OF THE COIL SPRING CRADLES ,IT WAS FOUND THAT THE UPPER CONTROL ARM ON THE RIGHT SIDE WAS CRACKED WHERE THE TOP OF THE COIL SPRING SEATS. THIS IS THE SECOND CRACK IN THE COIL SPRING AREA THAT WAS FOUND ON AN AMBULANCE PACKAGE VEHICLE.THIS UNIT HAS BEEN TAKEN OUT OF SERVICE AS WELL DUE TO SAFETY CONCERNS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET EXPRESS. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE STABILITRACK AND TRACTION CONTROL SERVICE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED ALONG WITH A BEEPING SOUND. IN ADDITION, THE POWER REDUCE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE ENGINE POWER REDUCED. THE VEHICLE IDLED VERY ERRATICALLY. THE CONTACT HAD TO RESTART THE VEHICLE IN ORDER FOR IT TO OPERATE NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 109,000.
2011 CHEVY EXPRESS CUTAWAY WITH THOMAS BUS BODY HAD EXCESSIVE RUST DAMAGE TO STRUCTURAL FLOOR SUPPORT BEAM IMMEDIATELY IN FRONT OF REAR WHEELS. ENTIRE BEAM HAD TO BE REPLACED.
I WAS PULLING BACK INTO MY DRIVEWAY MY VAN STARTED IDLING VERY ROUGH AND ERRATIC. THE VEHICLE DISPLAY READ "ENGINE POWER REDUCED. SERVICE TRACTION. ESC OFF." I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO THINK SO I IMMEDIATELY SHUT THE CAR OFF. I STARTED MY CAR UP AGAIN AFTER LETTING IT SIT FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES AND IT RAN FINE AGAIN BUT THE "CHECK ENGINE LIGHT" WAS STILL ON. THE NEXT DAY I WAS HEADED TO WORK AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE. THE SAME MESSAGE POPPED UP ON THE DISPLAY AND THE VAN LOST POWER. I HAD TO PULL OVER SO NOT TO BE A NUISANCE FOR OTHER DRIVERS. AFTER A FEW MINUTES I STARTED THE VAN UP AND I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT TO A NEARBY DEALERSHIP. WHEN I GOT THE DEALERSHIP THE CAR WAS RUNNING FINE OF COURSE. I LEFT IT RUNNING AS I RAN INSIDE TO GET A TECH. HE CAME OUTSIDE AND SEEN THE "CHECK ENGINE LIGHT" ON. HE BROUGHT OUT THE SCANNER AND SAID THAT IT WAS SOMETHING WITH THE THROTTLE BODY. MY PREVIOUS VEHICLE WAS ALSO A GM PRODUCT, 2001 GMC SAVANNA 2500. I'VE HAD EXACTLY THE SAME PROBLEMS WITH IT. SEEMS LIKE 10 YEARS LATER YOU GUYS SHOULD IMPROVE THESE CARS. *TR
VEHICLE WAS NOTED TO BE LEAKING FLUID WHILE PARKED IN DRIVEWAY. FURTHER INVESTIGATION REVEALED THAT THE BACK DRIVER'S SIDE BRAKE LINE WAS LEAKING BRAKE FLUID. BRAKE FLUID LEVEL NOTED TO BE VERY LOW (JUST ABOVE THE MINIMUM LINE). NOTED THAT WHEN BRAKES ARE APPLIED BRAKE FLUID LEAKS AT A STEADY AND SIGNIFICANT PACE. *TR
THIS AMBULANCE OVER THE PAST THIRTY DAYS HAS BEEN DISPLAYING FALSE MILEAGES WITH MESSAGES THAT THE DEF TANK WAS ALMOST EMPTY AND THE VEHICLE WAS GOING TO GO INTO LIMP MODE. MILEAGES VARIED FROM LOWS IN THE 150'S TO HIGHS OF 2430 DURING THE SAME AMBULANCE TRANSPORT. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO WATSON CHEVROLET IN TUCSON. THEIR SOLUTION WAS TO REPLACE THE DEF TANK FOR $3600. THE SERVICE WRITER DENIED ANY KNOWLEDGE OF A TBS ON THIS PROBLEM. I CONTACTED THE CHEVROLET CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE CENTER AND WAS TOLD BY ROSE THAT THE PROBLEM WAS EMISSION RELATED AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED BY WARRANTY. THE SERVICE REQUEST NUMBER WAS 71-1202349549. I WAS LATER CALLED BY ANTHONY AT EXTENSION 11483. HE SAID THEY WERE UNAWARE OF ANY PROBLEMS LIKE THIS AND THEY WOULD NOT PAY FOR REPAIRS. WHEN I TOLD HIM THE DEALER QUOTE WAS WAY OVER TWICE THE COST OF THE SAME REPAIR IN SHOW LOW AZ. HE SAID EVERY DEALER WAS ABLE TO SET THEIR OWN LABOR RATES. I TOLD HIM THERE WERE DOZENS OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET HE HAD NO COMMENT. I HAVE A FEELING THIS IS A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM THAT THEY ARE TRYING TO COVER-UP. I'M VERY AFRAID SOMEONE COULD DIE IN OUR AMBULANCE BECAUSE OF FAULTY READING ON THE DEF TANK CAUSING THE ENGINE TO GO INTO LIMP MODE ON AN EMERGENCY TRANSPORT.
WHILE TRANSPORTING A PATIENT IN THIS AMBULANCE THE DASH WARNING NOTICE CAME ON WARNING THE DEF TANK LEVEL WAS LOW AND THE VEHICLE WOULD SOON GO INTO LIMP MODE. THE DEF TANK HAD JUST BEEN FILLED TO FULL. STRANGE READINGS CONTINUED TO APPEAR WARNING OF EITHER JUST A FEW MILES OR OVER 2000 MILES.I WAS AFRAID OF HAVING A PATIENT DIE IN OUR AMBULANCE IF THE AMBULANCE WENT INTO LIMP MODE ON A LONG TRANSPORT TO PHOENIX SO I TOOK THE AMBULANCE TO THE DEALER WHO REPLACED THE DEF TANK FOR $1547.33. I WAS TOLD BY ROSE AT THE GM CUSTOMER COMPLAINT LINE THAT EMISSIONS PROBLEMS SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED BY WARANTEE BUT I CANNOT GET MY MONEY BACK. GM STATES THEY HAVE NO REPORTS OF THIS PROBLEM OCCURRING BUT THE INTERNET IS FULL OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS.
ABOUT 10 DAYS AFTER PURCHASING OUR 2011 EXPRESS VAN MY WIFE AND I WERE DRIVING DOWN I 81 BETWEEN SHIPPENSBURG AND NEWVILLE, PA AND THE VAN STARTED PULLING TO AN ABRUPT HALT FOR NO REASON. I CHECKED THE PARKING BRAKE AND THOUGHT MAYBE I WAS RESTING MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE. NOTHING THE VAN WOULD NOT MOVE. I PLACED THE TRANSMISSION IN PARK AND IT WAS OK AGAIN. THIS HAPPENED 5 MORE TIMES. I TOOK IT BACK TO H AND H CHEVY AND OF COURSE THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING. ON ONE OCCASION GOING DOWN PA 996 JUST PAST LETTERKENNY DEPOT, ABOUT 54-55 MPH, IT DID IT AGAIN THIS TIME REALLY HARD AND MY WIFE HAD TO HANG ON TO KEEP FROM HITTING HER HEAD. THE SPEEDOMETER STARTED SAYING CHECK ALL-WHEEL DRIVE IMMEDIATELY, CHECK LIMITED SLIP IMMEDIATELY. I TOOK IT BACK AND H AND H OF SHIPPENSBURG SAID NOTHING SHOWED UP ON THE COMPUTER. A YEAR LATER I FOUND OUT ABOUT A RECALL ON THE VAN.. I TOOK THIS TO H AND H AND THEY REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE IT BECAUSE IT DID NOT HAVE A GM RECALL NUMBER. I WENT 3 MORE TIME THIS YEAR IN JANUARY. THEY NEVER EVEN LOOKED INTO IT. IT HASN'T DONE IT ANYMORE. I FIGURE THE PART IS PROBABLY WORN OUT BY NOW. $38,000.00 CASH I PAID FOR A VAN AND NOBODY WANTED TO LOOK AT THE REAR SPLINE PIN. *TR
