LLOSS OF STEERING CONTROL WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND IT READS CHECK FUEL FILL INLET? IF I CAN FIND SOMEONE TO TURN IT OFF THEY WILL CLEAR IT BUT WITHIN A WEEK IT IS BACK ON. *TR
DRIVERS RETRACTABLE RUNNING BOARD MALFUNCTIONS GOING UP AND EXTENDING. THE RUNNING BOARD HAS STOPPED MIDWAY DURING EXTENSION AND HAVE CAUSED OCCUPANTS TO FALL DUE TO THE RUNNING BOARD SUDDENLY COLLAPSING TO NORMAL HEIGHT WITH WEIGHT OF THE OCCUPANT ON THE RUNNING BOARD. RETRACTION OF THE RUNNING BOARDS IS ROUGH AND MAY TAKE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO RETRACT. THE VEHICLE IS WELL MAINTAINED BY THE DEALERSHIP. THERE ARE NO LUBRICATION POINTS TO ENABLE MAINTENANCE OF THE RUNNING BOARDS. AT THIS TIME THE RUNNING BOARDS ARE TURNED OFF AND ARE IN THE RETRACTED POSITION. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY ON A STREET OR PARKING LOT AND THE DRIVER AND LEFT PASSENGER DOORS ARE OPENED/CLOSED FOR ENTERING OR EXITING THE VEHICLE. THIS ONLY HAPPENS TO DRIVER SIDE RUNNING BOARD. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN ON-GOING FOR THE PAST YEAR. THE DEALERSHIP HAS USED A SPRAY LUBRICANT ON THE HINGES OF THE RUNNING BOARD BUT IT IS A SHORT TERM FIX FOR A LONG TERM ISSUE. THERE HAS BEEN NO DAMAGE TO THE RUNNING BOARDS, NO ADJUSTMENT TO THE RUNNING BOARD MOTOR OR MECHANISM. THE RUNNING BOARD MOTOR APPEARS TO OVER OR UNDER TRAVEL AND DOES NOT MOVE THE RUNNING BOARD TO THE CORRECT LOCATION IN THE MOVEMENT CYCLE. *TR
CAMSHAFT ROLLER BEARINGS SEIZED AND SCORED THE CAMSHAFT, REQUIRING A TOP END REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE HAD LESS THAN 95000 MILES. THIS THE SECOND EXPEDITION REQUIRING THIS ENGINE WORK. MY FIRST EXPEDITION REQUIRED A COMPLETE ENGINE REPLACEMENT DUE TO THE SAME ISSUE
WINTER 2019, PASSENGER SIDE DOOR WOULD NOT STAY CLOSED. APPEARS TO ONLY HAPPEN WHEN TEMPERATURES ARE BELOW FREEZING. STARTED TO HAPPEN ON DRIVERS SIDE A DAY LATER. I'VE NOTICED WATER INSIDE ON THE SILL PLATE OF THE VEHICLE AFTER IT RAINS. I SUSPECT WATER IS MAKING IT'S WAY INTO THE DOOR. THE ISSUE HAS RETURNED. TRIED TO GET WARRANTY REPAIRS FROM ORIGINAL DEALERSHIP BUT HAS GONE UNANSWERED. APPEARS THIS IS A KNOW ISSUE AND REPAIRS ARE COVERED BY AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. WHICH I DID NOT GET. WORKING WITH BBB AND FORD CORPORATE ON THAT ISSUE. THE PASSENGER DOOR WAS NOT FIXED EITHER.
DOOR CLOSED SENSOR IS FAULTY AND SOUNDS LIKE THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH FORD BUT A RECALL WON'T HAPPEN TILL MORE PEOPLE COMPLAIN. I AM MAKING MY COMPLAINT OFFICIAL. ALSO SEEKING WARRANTY REPAIRS FROM THE ORIGINAL DEALERSHIP SINCE THE ISSUE HAS RETURNED.
THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON AN EXIT RAMP AND THE SUNROOF SHATTERED.
UPON ENGAGING THE CRUISE CONTROL WHILE IN MOTION AT 65MPH (HIGHWAY) AND GOING UP A BRIDGE THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED WITH ACCELERATOR BEING STUCK ON THE FLOOR (BOTTOMED OUT) BRAKING BECAME INEFFECTIVE AT THAT SPEED. AFTER A MAJOR EFFORT WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER. PUTTING IN NEUTRAL MADE THE VEHICLE IDLE AT VERY HIGH RPM, DID NOT DISENGAGE THE ACCELERATOR. ONLY AFTER SHUTTING THE ENGINE OFF IN N AND PUTTING THE VEHICLE IN P FOLLOWED BY RESTARTING SOLVED THE ISSUE. SECOND TIME THIS OCCURRED WAS AT 55MPH (LOCAL HIGHWAY) FLAT ROAD, SAME OBSERVATIONS. BRIEFLY DISCONNECTING AND RECONNECTING CONTACT DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. VERY HIGH IDLE IN N AND ONLY AFTER PUTTING THE VEHICLE IN P AFTER SHUTTING DOWN, THE PHENOMENON WAS RESOLVED. ONLY OBSERVED WHILE USING CRUISE CONTROL. IN BOTH CONDITIONS ROAD WAS DRY WITH NO PRECIPITATION
ALUMINUM LIFT GATE PAINT IS CRACKING AND PEELING SIMIAR TO ALL OTHER YEARS OF EXPEDITION. PREVIOUS AND POST YEARS CONTINUE TO HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. NOT A FLUKE OR ONE OFF IN PAINT PREPARATION DEFECTS.
ON DECEMBER 12, 2017, WHILE TRAVELING AT 75 MPH ON THE INTERSTATE WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL SET, THE VEHICLE SURGED FORWARD. WITHIN SECONDS FOLLOWING THE SURGE, THE VEHICLE UNEXPECTEDLY DOWNSHIFTED CAUSING LOSS OF CONTROL AND NEARLY A ROLL OVER ACCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE IN ANY GEAR. TURNING THE VEHICLE OFF AND ON 2 TIMES ALLOWED THE VEHICLE TO MOVE AGAIN. THE DEALER REPLACED THE CONTROL MODULE IN THE TRANSMISSION AS A RESULT. MY COST WAS $100 SINCE WE STILL HAVE AN ACTIVE WARRANTY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD EXPEDITION. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF ALL FUNCTIONALITY EXCEPT THE BRAKES. THE CONTACT STOPPED THE VEHICLE, KEPT THE ENGINE RUNNING, AND WAITED A FEW SECONDS BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE HOME. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FUTURE FORD LINCOLN (650 AUTOMALL DR, ROSEVILLE, CA 95661, (888) 656-7577) AND THEY REFEREED THE CONTACT TO THE MANUFACTURER. THE MANUFACTURER REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA TO FILE A COMPLAINT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 152,204. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.
WHILE MY WIFE WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL SET AT 78MPH, THE REAR TIRES ON OUR 2011 EXPEDITION SUDDENLY LOCKED UP, SKIDDING THE TIRES AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO FISHTAIL SHE HAD NO CONTROL OF STEERING OR ACCELERATION. WHEN THE VEHICLE REACHED APPROXIMATELY 35MPH THE TIRES RELEASED AND SHE WAS ABLE TO STEER INTO THE MEDIAN. AT THIS POINT, SHE COULD NOT MOVE THE VEHICLE. THERE WAS A PICTURE OF A WRENCH ON THE DASHBOARD. WHEN SHE WAS COMPLETELY STOPPED, SHE PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND SAT FOR A FEW MINUTES. SHE THEN ATTEMPTED TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN DRIVE, BUT SHE HAD NO POWER. THE VEHICLE WAS RUNNING, BUT SHE WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE IN DRIVE OR REVERSE. SHE HAD TO CALL FOR A TOW TRUCK. AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED HOME, I GOT IN IT AND STARTED IT, THEN NOTICED THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT ON. I TURNED THAT LIGHT OFF ON THE DASHBOARD, AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE WITHOUT ANY PROBLEM. I DROVE IT TO A FORD DEALER, AND ALL THE MECHANIC COULD FIND WAS THAT THE REAR STRUTS WERE WORN OUT. THE MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT OUR VEHICLE DID NOT THROW ANY HARD CODE, ONLY A SOFT CODE. HE SAID WE ARE BASICALLY DRIVING COMPUTERS NOW WITH ALL THE TECHNOLOGY. FORD MOTOR COMPANY INFORMED ME THAT THERE IS NO RECALL ON OUR VEHICLE, ONLY THE 2012 MODEL THAT HAS THE SAME ISSUE. AFTER TALKING WITH TWO DIFFERENT PEOPLE AT FORD MOTOR COMPANY, I WAS TOLD SORRY, IT IS NOT UNDER RECALL AND THERE IS NOTHING WE CAN DO. UPON INVESTIGATING FURTHER, WE FOUND OUT MY WIFE'S EXPEDITION WAS MANUFACTURED AT THE SAME PLANT IN KENTUCKY, MADE IN THE SAME YEAR AS THE RECALLED VEHICLES BUT 4 MONTHS EARLIER, AND HAS THE SAME TRANSMISSION (6R80) AS THE RECALLED 2012 EXPEDITIONS THAT STARTED PRODUCTION IN AUGUST OF 2011. HOPE NHTSB CAN INVESTIGATE BECAUSE WE CAN'T GET ANYWHERE WITH FORD.
I WAS DRIVING 70MPH ON HWY 290 WHEN MY CAR SUDDENLY DOWNSHIFTED TO FIRST GEAR AND THEN THE WHEELS TOTALLY LOCKED UP. THIS CAUSED ME TO START SLIDING SIDEWAYS DOWN THE ROAD UNTIL I CAME TO A STOP. IT TURNED OUT THAT A COMPUTER MODULE REGULATING SHIFTING HAD GONE BAD. THIS ALSO CAUSED MY TRANSMISSION TO GO OUT AND NEED REPLACING.
I WAS TRAVELING AT ABOUT 70 MPH WITH CRUISE CONTROL ON WHEN THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY DOWNSHIFT TWICE (FROM 6TH GEAR TO I THINK 3RD THEN 1ST GEAR) AND THE RPMS RED LINED CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO JERK AND SLOW DOWN RAPIDLY. I LOST ALL ACCELERATION POWER AND WAS BARELY ABLE TO MAKE IT TO THE SHOULDER OF THE HIGHWAY. I COULD NOT GET ANY ACCELERATION IN ANY GEAR ONCE I WAS PULLED OVER. I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND BACK ON AND IT WORK LIKE NOTHING EVER HAPPENED.
I WAS DRIVING 70 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY ON A STRAIGHT AWAY WHEN MY CAR SUDDENLY DOWNSHIFTED TO 2ND GEAR, THEN IMMEDIATELY TO 1ST GEAR AND THEN THE WHEELS LOCKED UP
TIMING CHAIN NEEDS REPLACED AGAIN AFTER HAVING IT REPLACED 18 MONTHS AGO
ON 8/21/17, THE LATCHING BACK WINDOW OF OUR 2011 FORD EXPEDITION BLEW OUT WHILE MY HUSBAND WAS PARKING ON A PRIVATE LOT. WE DID NOT HIT ANYTHING, AND THE GLASS BLEW OUT, NOT IN. FORTUNATELY NO ONE WAS IN THE PATH OF THE FLYING GLASS. FORD REFUSES TO REIMBURSE US FOR ITS REPLACEMENT.
THE PAINT FINISH ON THE REAR LIFTGATE HAS SEVERAL "BUBBLING" AREAS AND HAS STARTED TO FLAKE OFF IN SEVERAL AREAS. THIS ISSUE WAS FIRST NOTICED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS LESS THAN 5 YEARS OLD. THERE HAS NEVER BEEN ANY PHYSICAL DAMAGE TO THIS AREA NOR HAS IT BEEN REPAINTED. I HAVE RESEARCHED ONLINE AND DISCOVERED THAT THIS WAS DUE TO A CONTAMINANT AT THE PAINT FACILITY FOR THESE VEHICLES AT THE TIME, IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM FOR THESE MODEL YEARS, AND THAT FORD REFUSES TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY OR ISSUE A RECALL TO HAVE THIS ISSUE REPAIRED. WHEN I CONTACTED FORD ABOUT THE ISSUE, THEY RECOMMENDED I SUBMIT A COMPLAINT WITH YOUR AGENCY.
I EXPERIENCE HEADACHES AND DIZZINESS WHEN DRIVING THERE HAS BEEN TIMES I HAVE TO PULL OVER TO AVOID CRASHING. I BELIEVE CARBON MONOXIDE MAY BE THE RESULT OF THESE SYMPTOMS.
UPON HARD ACCELERATION OVER 3000 RPM A BURNT EXHAUST ODOR ENTERS THE CABIN. AT ALL TIMES
JUN OF 2016 BRAKES STARTED GOING ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR WHILE BACKING OUT OF THE GARAGE WHEN ENGINE WAS FIRST STARTED. VEHICLE WOULD ROLL DOWN DRIVEWAY AND BRAKES WOULD NOT STOP IT UNTIL PUMPED. TOOK VEHICLE TO FORD AND THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE. THEY FINALLY REPLACED THE MASTER CYLINDER AND THE PROBLEM STOPPED FOR 10 MONTHS. NOW THE PROBLEM IS BACK AND THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE AGAIN. HAS HAPPENED TWICE THIS TIME BACKING OUT OF GARAGE (LESS THAN 5 MPH). CAR HAS HAD A FULL BRAKE JOB, NO LEAKS, AND HAS 74K MILES.
WHEN SLOWING DOWN AND SHIFTING FROM SECOND TO FIRST THE TRANSMISSION MAKES A LOUD STUTTERING NOISE EVERY TIME. THIS IS NOT A NORMAL NOISE A TRANSMISSION SHOULD MAKE. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN THAT FORD NEEDS TO FIX IN NEW AND OLDER MODELS. THIS IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE PEOPLE ARE REPORTING ON THE INTERNET WITH FORDS AROUND THIS YEAR. MANY HAVE HAD THIS BEGIN TO OCCUR AROUND ONLY 25K MILES.
VISIBLE CORROSION AND BUBBLING PAINT ON ALUMINUM REAR LIFT GATE
STABILITY CONTROL APPLIES BRAKES RANDOMLY IN NORMAL CONDITIONS. PRIMARILY THIS HAS BEEN AT SLOW SPEEDS. BRAKES PULSATE AND VEHICLE IS DIFFICULT TO STEER/CONTROL. ON 12/11/2016 THE STABILITY SYSTEM KICKED IN AT THE SAME TIME THE "RESUME" BUTTON WAS PRESSED FOR THE CRUISE CONTROL. THE FRONT BRAKES APPLIED WITH FORCE AS THE CAR WAS TRYING TO ACCELERATE TO 70 MPH WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL. THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO FISHTAIL AND THE TRANSMISSION LOCKED UP. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE INTERSTATE, BUT THE VEHICLE BEHIND ME HAD TO SWERVE INTO THE MEDIAN TO AVOID HITTING ME FROM BEHIND, AND THE DRIVER IN THE RIGHT LANE WAS FORCED TO BRAKE TO AVOID ME. THE VEHICLE WAS TRAVELLING AT APPROXIMATELY 67 MPH ON INTERSTATE 85N IN SOUTH CAROLINA. THIS PROBLEM HAD BEEN REPORTED TO MY FORD DEALER, BUT THEY "COULD NOT FIND PROBLEM" IN SERVICE DEPT.
I CAN SHUT OFF THE ENGINE AND TAKE OUT THE KEYS WHEN THE TRANSMISSION IS STILL IN D., NOT P.
VEHICLE IS IN MOTION AT HIGH-SPEED AND CUTS OFF OR DOWN SHIFTS WITHOUT WARNING. SITTING AT IDLE ENGINE CUTS OFF
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD EXPEDITION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE KEY FOB FAILED TO UNLOCK THE DOORS INTERMITTENTLY. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE KEY PAD LOCATED ON THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR FAILED TO OPERATE. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO ACCESS THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE LOCK MOTOR ON ALL THE DOORS FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 44,977.
REAR WINDOW BLEW OUT. MY FAMILY AND I WERE DRIVING HOME FROM A ROAD TRIP AND HAD PULLED INTO OUR HOME. EVERYBODY GOT OUT AND WE SAYING STANDING BY THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. WE HEARD A BANG FROM THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE. I WALKED TO THE BACK TO SEE THE BACK WINDOW COMPLETELY SHATTERED. I DID NOT NOTICE ANY STRIKE MARKS BECAUSE THE WINDOW WAS STILL INTACT AND ON THE VEHICLE. I WENT TO UNLATCH IT AND THE WHOLE THING FELL OF THE VEHICLE. THE GLASS WAS INSIDE THE VEHICLE, ON TOP OF THE VEHICLE, AND ALL OVER THE FLOOR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD EXPEDITION. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS SHIFTED INTO REVERSE, THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE ACCELERATED INDEPENDENTLY AND CRASHED INTO A PARKED VEHICLE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE DID NOT STOP EVEN WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO SHIFT THE VEHICLE INTO NEUTRAL, BUT IT SHIFTED INTO DRIVE AND ACCELERATED FORWARD. THE ONLY WAY TO STOP THE VEHICLE WAS BY TURNING THE KEY TO THE OFF POSITION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 50,000.
PAINT BLISTERING/BUBBLING ON ALUMINUM HOOD AND TAILGATE, FORD REPAINTED SAYING IT WAS TOTALLY REPAIRABLE. SIX MONTHS LATER IT IS BACK.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD EXPEDITION. WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE ENGINE SHOOK UNCONTROLLABLY WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHENEVER THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS BUILT WITH A FAULTY ENGINE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED, BUT OFFERED NO REMEDY. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 131,476. UPDATED 02/05/16*LJ
LESS THAN A MONTH AFTER I BOUGHT THE CAR, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW WOULD NOT GO DOWN AND CAR WAS MAKING A CLICKING NOISE WHEN AC WAS TURNED ON. TOOK CAR BACK TO DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED AND THEY REPAIRED THE WINDOW AND REPLACED PART THAT WAS MAKING CLICKING NOISE. LESS THAN A MONTH LATER, WE HAD SAME ISSUE WITH FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW. HAVE NOT HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO TAKE IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED TO GET IT FIXED. WE HAVE BEEN "LIVING" WITH THE FACT THAT WE CANNOT OPERATE THAT WINDOW. HAVE ALSO NOTICED THAT WHEN I GET IN THE CAR AFTER IT HAS BEEN SITTING FOR A WHILE, IT DOES NOT ALWAYS WANT TO GO INTO REVERSE SMOOTHLY AND THEN WHEN I TRY TO MOVE FORWARD AFTER BACKING OUT, THE CAR LUNGES FORWARD (TRANSMISSION ISSUE?). ADDITIONALLY, I HAVE TO AGREE WITH THE OTHER COMPLAINTS I'VE SEEN ON THIS WEBSITE THAT THE ANGLE OF THE HEADRESTS IS EXTREMELY UNCOMFORTABLE AND UNSAFE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD EXPEDITION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE COMING TO A STOP, THE VEHICLE JERKED AND MADE AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE. THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
IN 2014 WE PURCHASED A 2011 FORD EXP. UPON DRIVING IT, WITHIN THE FIRST WEEK WE NOTICED THE VEHICLE WOULD LUNG FORWARD WITH NO PRESSURE APPLIED TO THE ACCELERATOR OR BRAKE. IT APPEARS TO HAPPEN WHEN YOU FIRST START UP THE VEHICLE. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN DRIVE OR REVERSE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD EXPEDITION. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE ON AN INCLINE, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED AND THE FRONT WHEELS FAILED TO TURN. THE 4X4 SYSTEM ALSO INDEPENDENTLY ACTIVATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO DISCOVERED THAT THE 4X4 MOTOR AND SOLENOID FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD EXPEDITION. THE CONTACT SMELLED A STRONG FUEL ODOR INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE FAN MADE AN INTERMITTENT CLICKING NOISE ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
WHEN WASHING MY VEHICLE, I NOTICE ON THE BACK DOOR (THE BACK END OF THE VEHICLE) PAINT MISSING. IT IS RIGHT WHERE THE HANDLE TO OPEN THE DOOR. I CAN SEE THE WHITE MATERIAL UNDER THE PAINT.. IT IS LIKE IT PEELED RIGHT OFF OR FLAKED OFF. THIS IS IN A COUPLE OTHER SPOTS AROUND THE HANDLE. I AM LOOKING FOR A RECALL BUT HAVE NOT BEEN SENT ONE. VERY DISAPPOINTING. *TR
THE VEHICLE HEAD REST IS PERMANENTLY TILTED FORWARD AND CANT BE ADJUSTED. THIS PRESENTS AN UNCOMFORTABLE AND UNSAFE CONDITION WHEN OPERATING THE VEHICLE FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME. IN ORDER TO GET SOME TYPE OF RELIEF DURING EXTENDED DRIVING PERIODS THE SEAT HAS TO BE TILTED BACK, WHICH COULD CREATE ANOTHER UNSAFE POSITION. *TR
WHILE DRIVING IN A HEAVY RAIN STORM, THE RUBBER PART OF THE WIPER CAME OFF. THIS CAUSED A HUGE SCRATCH IN THE WINDSHIELD. VISIBILITY WAS VERY POOR, TRAFFIC WAS HEAVY AND WE COULDN'T PULL OFF IMMEDIATELY. THE WINDSHIELD HAD TO BE REPLACED, FORD DECLINED TO COVER THIS AS A WARRANTY OR DEFECT. THE SERVICE MANAGER MENTIONED THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED "A LOT". *TR
THE STANDARD HEADREST IN THE 2011 FORD EXPEDITION PROTRUDES FORWARD SO MUCH THAT I CANNOT SIT WITH MY BACK AND SHOULDERS LEANING TO THE BACK OF THE SEAT WITHOUT PUSHING MY HEAD FORWARD, CAUSING UPPER BACK AND NECK PAIN. I'VE DRIVEN THE CAR TWO DAYS AND MY NECK HURTS. THE DEALERSHIP OFFERED NO SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM AND MY INTERNET RESEARCH SHOWED THAT MANY OTHER FACE THE SAME CHALLENGE. SOME ARE REMOVING THE HEADREST, WHILE OTHERS ARE BENDING THEM BACK. NEITHER SOUNDS SAFE TO ME AND IT SEEMS FORD COULD CORRECT THIS PROBLEM. *TR
TRAVELING DOWN THE HIGHWAY GOING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH WHEN THE REAR WHEELS LOCKED CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO RAPIDLY DECELERATE AND REAR END TO SWERVE. FORTUNATELY THERE WERE NO VEHICLES IMMEDIATELY BEHIND THE VEHICLE AS THIS WOULD HAVE RESULTED IN A MAJOR REAR END COLLISION. THE REAR WHEELS UNLOCKED AFTER APPROXIMATELY THREE TO FOUR SECONDS AND I WAS ABLE TO COAST THE VEHICLE TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD. THE POWERTRAIN MALFUNCTION WRENCH WAS LIT ON THE DASHBOARD AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE FORWARD IN ANY GEAR. I PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK, SHUT OFF THE ENGINE AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE. THE WRENCH ON THE DASHBOARD EXTINGUISHED AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP UTILIZING SECONDARY ROADS. THE DEALERSHIP HAD THE VEHICLE FOR THREE DAYS AND CONTACTED FORD ENGINEERING FOR TECHNICAL ADVICE. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE MECHATRONIX UNIT AND INSPECTED THE DRIVE TRAIN FOR IRREGULARITIES. *TR
A FUSE THAT HAS THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW, SUNROOF, COMPASS, TV'S AND BACK WINDOW'S CONNECTED TO IT KEEPS GOING OUT. WE REPLACED THE FUSE OURSELVES FOR THE FIRST TIME AND THEN IT BLEW AGAIN IN ABOUT 2 WEEKS. THEN I TOOK IT TO A FORD DEALERSHIP THAT IS CLOSER TO OUR HOME TOWN AND THEY REPLACED THE FUSE AGAIN AND SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING THAT IS CAUSING IT TO KEEP BLOWING. ABOUT 2 WEEKS LATER IT BLOWS AGAIN. SO I TAKE IT BACK TO THE SAME FORD DEALER AND THEY WERE HESITANT TO TRY TO FIX IT AGAIN. THEY SAID IT COULD POSSIBLY SPARK FIRE IF THEY KEEP CHANGING IT OUT AND THEY WOULD TAKE IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE IT CAME FROM. SO WE REPLACE IT AGAIN AND IT BLOWS 1 WEEK LATER THIS TIME. REMIND YOU THAT WE SPECIAL ORDERED THIS VEHICLE IN FEBRUARY 2011, IT HAS 47,000 MILES ON IT. SO I TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE WE PURCHASED IT. THEY DID A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND CAN'T FIND ANYTHING EITHER. THEY WANT ME TO KEEP MONITORING IT (AS IF I HAVEN'T BEEN DOING THAT ALREADY) TO SEE IF I CAN TELL WHEN IT BLOWS. I TOLD THEM THERE IS NOTHING THAT MY FAMILY OR I AM DOING OTHER THAN DRIVING WHEN IT BLOWS. THEY DON'T THINK IT IS NECESSARY TO TAKE THE CAR APART AND TRY TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I GUESS THEY WANT TO WAIT UNTIL IT'S TOO LATE AND CATCHES FIRE. *TR
WHILE ON A FAMILY TRIP FROM TX TO FL, THE "LIMP HOME MODE" WRENCH CAME ON. PULLED OVER, CHECKED WHAT I COULD. GOT BACK ON THE ROAD, ABOUT 20 MILES DOWN THE ROAD, A FINE MIST STARTING BLOWING OUT THE BACK AND THE SUV LOST ALL POWER. PULLED OVER AND CALL FORD. IT WAS TOWED TO A FORD DEALER ABOUT 5 MILES AWAY. THE DEALER CALLED MONDAY MORNING, TO SAY THE TRANSMISSION WAS BLOWN AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. WELL FORD HAD A DIFFERENT PLAN, THEY TOLD THE DEALER TO REBUILD. ABOUT 60 DAYS AND 5000 MILES LATER, "LIMP HOME MODE" WRENCH CAME ON AGAIN. DROVE IT ABOUT 8 MILES TO THE PURCHASING DEALER. WHILE AT THE DEALER AND A FORD TECH CAME OUT TO LOOK AT IT. HAD THE DEALER, RUN A BUNCH OF TEST AND ONLY AUTHORIZED A PART REPLACEMENT. EVEN AT THE REQUEST OF MYSELF AND THE SELLING DEALER TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION, FORD SAID NO. IT ONLY HAS 16,500 MILES ON IT WITH A TRANSMISSION THAT'S HAD PROBLEMS TWICE. *TR
WE WERE DRIVING ON 95 WHEN WE HEARD A THUD-TYPE NOISE. WE THOUGHT WE HAD A FLAT TIRE, BUT THEN THE VEHICLE WOULD NO LONGER ACCELERATE. WE WERE ABLE TO GET OFF AT THE EXIT THAT WAS IMMEDIATELY UPON US AND SAFELY PULL OFF ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. WE DID NOT HAVE ANY FLAT TIRES. THE VEHICLE WOULD STILL TURN ON AND RUN (SO WE KNEW IT WASN'T THE ALTERNATOR), BUT IT WOULDN'T ACCELERATE. THE FORD DEALERSHIP INFORMED US IT WAS THE MEXTRONICS ELECTRONIC PORTION OF THE SHIFT MECHANISM AND VALVE BODY IN THE TRANSMISSION. THEY SAID THAT THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM COULD NOT HAVE BEEN PREVENTED AND IT DOES NOT HAPPEN OFTEN. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD EXPEDITION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY. THE CONTACT HAD DIFFICULTY CONTROLLING THE STEERING WHEEL AND SWERVED INTO THE NEXT LANE WITH THE ILLUMINATION OF THE MECHANICAL FAILURE WARNING LIGHT. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO COAST ONTO THE SHOULDER. THE VEHICLE WAS LATER TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE A DIAGNOSTIC WAS PERFORMED, WHICH LOCATED THE FAILURE AT THE TRANSMISSION SOLENOID. THE DEALER REPROGRAMMED THE COMPUTER SYSTEM TO CORRECT THE FAILURE HOWEVER, TO NO AVAIL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 13,500.
AFTER THE VEHICLE HIT 5,000 MILES, WE STARTED NOTICING A DECREASE IN OUR FUEL EFFICIENCY. AROUND THAT SAME TIME IS WHEN WE ALSO BEGAN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH OUR TRANSMISSION. WHEN DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS, BETWEEN 30 MPH AND 40 MPH, THE RPMS OSCILLATE UP TO +/- 250 RPMS. BETWEEN THOSE SPEEDS, THE ENGINE IS CONSTANTLY REVVING UP AND DOWN WHILE DRIVING. WE HAVE HAD OUR VEHICLE SERVICED BY FORD ON SIX DIFFERENT OCCASIONS, THE PROBLEM WAS RECORDED AND DOCUMENTED ON THEIR COMPUTER SYSTEMS, BUT HAS NOT BEEN FIXED. WE CURRENTLY HAVE AROUND 11,000 MILES ON OUR VEHICLE, AND NO RESOLVE FOR THIS PROBLEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD EXPEDITION EL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS SHIFTED INTO REVERSE, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AFTER THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING 50 MPH, THE TOW HAUL LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE RECURRED THREE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER TEN TIMES. THE DEALER CONFIRMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE RE-CALIBRATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 19,400.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD EXPEDITION. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 20 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT WAS A MECHANIC AND PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST THAT INDICATED A TRANSMISSION FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD EXPEDITION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ANGLE OF THE HEAD REST DESIGN WAS CAUSING PAIN TO HER NECK. THE DEALER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND SUGGESTED TO THE CONTACT THAT THE HEAD REST BE TURNED AROUND OR REMOVED COMPLETELY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200.
AFTER DRIVING THE VEHICLE 2011 FORD EXPEDITION EL FOR APPROXIMATELY 5 HOURS AT 70MPH ON INTERSTATE 95 AT 2:30AM IN THE STATE OF GEORGIA WITH NO OTHER VEHICLES NEARBY SUDDENLY WITHOUT ANY WARNING THE CAR WENT INTO A VIOLENT SKID CAUSING IT TO SWERVE AND SPIN OUT OF CONTROL UNTIL COMING TO REST AT THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. AT THIS TIME THE TRANSMISSION DID NOT RESPOND TO EITHER FORWARD OR REVERSE,THERE WAS NO THROTTLE RESPONSE AND THE ENGINE WAS AT LOW IDLE WITH 0 OIL PRESSURE REGISTERING. THE WRENCH INDICATOR WAS LIGHTED ON THE DASH. OWNERS MANUAL INDICATED THE VEHICLE WAS IN " LIMP MODE ". I TURNED OFF THE IGNITION AND A SHORT TIME LATER RESTARTED THE CAR WITH ALL SYSTEMS OPERATING NORMAL WITH THE WRENCH INDICATOR NO LONGER LIGHTED. SUBSEQUENTLY THE CAR WAS DRIVEN WITHOUT FURTHER MALFUNCTION TO THE SELLING DEALER ABOUT 400 MILES AWAY. THE SERVICE MANAGER SIMPLY STATED THE CODES WOULD BE CHECKED AND THE APPROPRIATE INDICATED REPAIR MADE WITH NO FURTHER CONCERN FOR THE OBVIOUS LIFE SAFETY EVENT WHICH EASILY COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A TRAGIC FATAL ACCIDENT IF OTHER VEHICLES WERE IN CLOSE PROXIMITY.DIAGNOSTICS FOUND DTC P0975. REPAIR INVOICE INDICATED REPLACE SSE SOLENOID (7G136/ 7G383 7G484 7J136 ) & ROAD TESTED OK..IN VIEW OF THIS TRAUMATIC INCIDENT & WITH NO FURTHER CONFIDENCE TO DRIVE THIS CAR I CHOSE TO REPLACE IT WITH A NEW 2012 MODEL WITHOUT ANY SIGNIFICANT CONSIDERATION REGARDING THE NEW CAR COST. CONTACT WITH FORD MOTOR CO CASE # [XXX] RESULTED IN THEIR OPINION THAT "MALFUNCTIONS HAPPEN AND NO CONSIDERATION FOR VEHICLE REPLACEMENT. FORD WILL APPARENTLY RESELL THIS VEHICLE TO AN UNSUSPECTING CUSTOMER. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD EXPEDITION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE REAR DRIVER SIDE DOOR WAS AJAR, THE RETRACTABLE RUNNING BOARDS RETRACTED AND CAUSED A PASSENGER'S FOOT TO BE CUT BY THE RUNNING BOARDS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER, THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 17,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 18,000.
VEHICLE NEVER BEFORE IN COLLISION. FRONT BUMPER FULLY CONTACTED WITH SMALLER SUV, SUSTAINING SIGNIFICANT FRONT-END DAMAGE. ONLY PASSENGER FRONT AIRBAG DEPLOYED, DESPITE THERE BEING NO PASSENGER IN SEAT (POCKETBOOK WEIGHING ONLY FEW POUNDS ON THE SEAT, CERTAINLY NOT ENOUGH TO TRIGGER OCCUPANCY SENSORS). MY QUESTION IS TWO-FOLD: WHY DID AIRBAG DEPLOY IN EMPTY PASSENGER SEAT? AND MORE IMPORTANTLY, WHY DID IT NOT DEPLOY IN OCCUPIED DRIVER SEAT? IS THERE EVER A NON-OFFSET FRONT-END COLLISION WHERE FORCE OF IMPACT REQUIRES ONLY ONE OF TWO AIRBAGS TO DEPLOY? *TR
AFTER PICKING UP THIS NEW VEHICLE DRIVING DOWN THE HWY THIS VEHICLE MADE A LOUD NOISE COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION AREA.. SECONDS LATER THE VEHICLE LOCK UP AND SENT ME INTO A SPIN.THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT GO INTO GEAR SO I CALLED A TOW TRUCK AND HAD THE VEHICLE TAKE TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION MECHATRONIX UNIT AND THE TCM UNIT.AFTER PICKING THE VEHICLE I 600 MILE MORE ON THE VEHICLE AND IT DID THE SAMETHING. SO I HAD TAKE IT IN TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP THEY FOUND THAT THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION PUMP GEAR. SO I'M WONDERING IS THERE A RECALL ON THESE EXPEDITIONS. *TR
SEVERE NECK PAIN DUE TO DRIVER AND FRONT PASSENGER HEAD RESTS IN 2011 FORD EXPEDITION. THE EXTREME ANGLE OF THE FRONT HEADRESTS IN THE NEW FORD EXPEDITIONS CAUSE EXCESSIVE STRESS AND STRAIN ON THE NECKS OF INDIVIDUALS OCCUPYING THESE SEATS. FORD HAS TURNED THE HEADRESTS AROUND TO ALLEVIATE THIS CONDITION WHICH IS UNSAFE AND POTENTIALLY LIFE THREATENING. *TR
DRIVER AND FRONT PASSENGER HEAD RESTS AT VERY ACUTE ANGLES. WITHOUT ALTERING THE HEAD RESTS IT APPEARS ANY CRASH IMPACT WOULD CAUSE BOTH DRIVER AND FRONT PASSENGER SEVERE INJURY. *TR
THE HEADREST ON THE 2011 FORD EXPEDITION ARE HORRENDOUS AND UNCOMFORTABLE. I WORK FOR THE FIRE DEPT. AND I USE THIS VEHICLE 12 TO 16 HOURS A DAY, ALONG WITH OTHER EMPLOYEE'S. THE ANGLE OF THE NEW HEADREST IS VERY UNCOMFORTABLE AND THERE IS NO POSSIBLE ADJUSTMENT TO GET INTO A COMFORTABLE POSITION. I HAVE TRIED TO RAISE/LOWER THE SEAT AND CHANGE THE POSITION OF THE SEAT TO NO AVAIL. THANKS TO THIS "NEW DESIGN" ON THE HEADREST I AM TAKING IBUPROFEN DAILY AT WORK. MY CHEVY TAHOE IS MORE COMFORTABLE. MY DEPT HAS 3 OTHER FORD'S WITH THIS STYLE HEADREST AND EVERYONE COMPLAINS ABOUT IT. FORD NEEDS TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM AND REPLACE THE HEADREST AT NO COST TO THE BUYERS. FYI.. ALSO OUR FIRST RESPONDER CAR WAS PURCHASED IN JUNE 2011 - AT 850 MILES WE HAD TO REPLACE THE MAIN COMPUTER ALREADY!!!! GREAT JOB FORD. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD EXPEDITION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH THE REAR WHEELS LOCKED MOMENTARILY. THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO RECUR ON AN INTERMITTENT BASIS. THE VEHICLE ALSO STALLED DURING ONE OF THE FAILURES. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS A RENTAL AND WAS TOWED BACK TO THE RENTAL AGENCY AFTER STALLING. THE CONTACT WAS NOT AWARE IF THE VEHICLE WAS EVER TAKEN TO HAVE THE FAILURE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 7,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
