THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MIKE WHITE FORD OF COEUR D'ALENE (315 W CLAYTON AVE, COEUR D'ALENE, ID 83815), AND THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DEALER WANTED TO CHARGE HIM TO REPLACE THE DOOR LATCH AGAIN AND INFORMED HIM THAT THE LATCHES WERE DIRTY. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT ONCE THE PASSENGER'S SIDE REAR DOOR FAILED THEN ALL THE OTHERS WOULD FOLLOW. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND WAS INFORMED THE VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 15,000. INVALID VIN.

TRANSMISSION WILL ALSO SLIP QUITE BADLY UPON LAUNCH AT TIMES WHICH CAN BE A CAUSE OF AN ACCIDENT WHEN TRYING TO ENTER TRAFFIC.

THIS IS A AUTOMATIC VEHICLE , AND IT IS UNSAFE , ESPECIALLY WHEN EXITING OFF A ONRAMP TRYING TO EXCEL TO POSTED SPEED LIMIT TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC OFF THE RAMP. HE REACHED IN TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND BECAUSE IT WAS STILL IN DRIVE THE CAR STARTED ROLLING DOWN THE DRIVEWAY, HE WAS ABLE TO REACH OVER AND GET IT IN PARK BUT IT DID NOT STOP ROLLING AND CONTINUED AT A GREATER SPEED PULLING HIM PARTIALLY OUT OF THE CAR AND DRAGGING HIM RESULTING IN A FRACTURED NECK, MASSIVE BRUISING ON HIS ABDOMEN AND DUE TO THE SHOCK OF THE INCIDENT KIDNEY FAILURE FOR THREE DAYS. WE REALIZE IT WAS HIS FAULT FOR NOT TURNING THE CAR OFF AND NOT HAVING IT IN PARK. MY BROTHER-IN-LAW CAME OVER IN HIS DODGE AND TRIED THE SAME THING AND HIS TRUCK IMMEDIATELY WENT IN TO PARK, IF HE OPENS HIS DOOR WHILE THE VEHICLE IS RUNNING EVEN SLIGHTLY THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY GOES INTO PARK. WE HAVE ALWAYS BEEN FORD VEHICLE FANS BUT THIS IS HAVING US RETHINK OUR DECISION ON A NEW CAR. WE THINK WE KNOW WHY IT DID NOT STOP WHEN HE PUT IT IN PARK WHILE IT WAS ROLLING BUT THERE IS NOT A SAFE GUARD TO PREVENT THESE KIND OF ACCIDENTS ARE UNCALLED FOR. IF A YOUNG CHILD WERE TO GET IN THIS VEHICLE AND TAKE IT OUT OF DRIVE THERE COULD BE HORRIBLE CONSEQUENCES. THE CAR ROLLED ALL THE WAS DOWN OUR DRIVEWAY INTO THE STREET (APP. 60 FT DRIVEWAY), HE WAS STUCK IN BETWEEN THE BOTTOM OF THE DOOR, AFRAID HE WAS GOING TO GET RUN OVER. HE WAS FINALLY ABLE TO FREE HIMSELF AFTER APP. 40 FT. MY GRANDSON HAS A FORD EDGE AND IT DID THE SAME THING. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED IMMEDIATELY. IF THE ANGLE OF THE DRIVEWAY HADN'T BEEN WHAT IT WAS I AM SURE IT WOULD HAVE STARTED ROLLING BEFORE MY HUSBAND GOT OUT OF THE VEHICLE.

WHEN THEY CHECKED MY VIN IT DIDN'T HAVE A RECALL BUT I WAS TOLD THAT I WOULD HAVE TO HAVE THE THROTTLE BODY REPLACED AND IT WOULD COST AROUND $600!! MY 2011 FOCUS ONLY HAS 48,000 MILES ON IT AND I CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHY IF IT HAS THE EXACT SAME MALFUNCTION AS THE RECALLED MODELS, THAT THE 2011 IS NOT A PART OF THAT RECALL?? THEY COULDN'T GET IT SCHEDULED TO REPAIR THE DOOR LATCH FOR APPROXIMATELY TWO WEEKS, AND OBVIOUSLY IT WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE WITHOUT THIS PROBLEM BEING FIXED. I CANNOT DEPEND ON THE LOCKS AT ANYTIME. THIS WEEK 06/02/2014 ALL THE DOORS LOCKED UP NOT EVEN THE KEY WOULD UNLOCK THE DOORS AND WE HAD TO CALL FOR A TOW SERVICE. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO THE DEALER THEY SAID IT WAS DUST. I TOLD THE DEALER IT WAS THE SAME PROBLEM MY COMPANY VEHICLE HAD AND IT WAS A RELAY, THEY SAID NOT THE PROBLEM. GOT BALL JOINTS FIXED BUT DIDN'T HAVE THE $500-$600 DOLLARS EXTRA TO SPEND TO GET THROTTLE BODY FIXED AT THAT TIME. A FAMILY MEMBER OFFERED TO FIX THROTTLE BODY IF I GOT THE PART FOR HIM. WENT TO 2 DIFFERENT AUTOPARTS STORES TO GET THE PART AND NEITHER OF THEM HAD IT AND THE 2ND ONE TOLD US THAT IT WAS ACTUALLY A RECALLED ITEM ON MY VEHICLE TO CALL THE DEALER. CALLED THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD IT WAS NOT A RECALL ITEM ON MY VEHICLE, AND IT WOULD COST ME $402 JUST FOR THE PART (THE WHOLE THROTTLE BODY). LOOKED AT THIS WEBSITE AND LOOKING THROUGH THE OTHER'S COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS VEHICLE, IT SEEMS THEY ARE ALL HAVING THROTTLE BODY ISSUES TOO SO I WONDER WHY THIS ISN'T BEING LOOKED INTO AND CONSIDERED A RECALL. I ASKED AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS NO PRICE REDUCTION FROM EITHER FORD OR KUMHO WARRANTY. NOTE THAT FORD TIRE WARRANTY GUIDE BOOKLET STATES 30% FOR 24K 36K MILES; KUMHO (WEB) STATES 60K MILEAGE COVERAGE AND 40% FOR 36K. INCIDENTALLY AS A CONSERVATIVELY DRIVING MECHANICAL ENGINEER, BOTH MY NEW SABLE AND RANGER MET/EXCEEDED TIRE MILEAGE COVERAGES. I HAVE BEEN HAPPY WITH NORTH COUNTRY, BUT HAVE LOST CONFIDENCE WITH FOCUS AND KUMHO TIRE COMPANY; JUST GOT NEW TIRES FROM A LOCAL, WELL-REGARDED, TIRE SHOP; AND THINK FORD/KUMHO SHOULD REIMBURSE ME AT LEAST $180 (30% OF THE NEW TIRES COST). NOTE: I HADN'T IMAGINED 60K MILES TIRES GOING THROUGH THE CORDS AT 36K MILES. WE RECENTLY RETURNED FROM A 4500 MILE MAINLY INTERSTATE TRIP.
