The contact owns a 2011 Ford Taurus. The contact stated that while in reverse, the backup camera would either flash blue or appear upside down on the screen. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the backup camera had been defective since the vehicle was purchased. The manufacturer had been notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000.
I own a 2011 Ford Taurus SEL model. August 2021 water leaking from sunroof, windshield and headliner on left side soaked and water drips out from the seam, moisture above visor and water stains visible. While driving if I brake, I can the water slush from back to front under and inside car. Drivers side floor is flooded with water since August 2021 and reported it to Geico and has not been fixed. Reason for reporting: Is there a recall on the sunroof or windshield ? Dangers of electrical damage, mold and mildew and rusted out floor shortens the life of the vehicle.
2011 Ford Taurus SEL at 100,000 miles the a/c started blowing out of the defrost at 90 degrees and on high, none of the controls worked for the A/C, radio, clock etc.. The front interface module went out. I was told by Ford no new replacements available they are discontinued and so far I've bought and replaced 3 used ones in the past 2 years myself. I was also told they would need reprogrammed (THEY DONT NEED REPROGRAMMED) buy the dealership about 400.00 and 300.00 to install a used part after I found one and bought it and brought it to them. The new parts should be available for you as long as long you own your vehicle you shouldn't have to buy used ones that are going to go out to.. The car has locked the doors car on me twice now with the key in the ignition on their own I left it unlocked. The excessive heat also cracked my windshield that I had to replace. The used modules run 150.00-300.00 each time plus the few hours it takes to replace...not good Ford....not good..
Attempted to start vehicle in driveway. Without warning, experienced a catastrophic failure of the water pump/engine cooling system. The failure caused the engine crankcase to fill with coolant and caused the vehicle crankshaft bearings to disintegrate into the oil leaving a silvery sludge. Upon taking vehicle to repair center, recommendation was to replace the entire engine since apparently the failure caused unrepairable internal damage to the engine. I have see other complaints about this where the failure happened while the vehicle was being driven and could have caused a very severe dangerous accident to occur as a result of the engine failure. Ford should be ashamed of the quality and workmanship in this motor since it appears to be a common an recurring problem.
HEATER IS STUCK ON HIGH HEAT BLOWING OUT THE DEFROST, I'M UNABLE TO USE ANY OF THE CONTROLS ON THE DASH INCLUDING CLIMATE CONTROL, RADIO, THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE. IT'S HAZARDOUS FOR FOR ADULTS TO BE IN THIS VEHICLE IN THE SUMMER AND EXTREMELY HAZARDOUS FOR CHILDREN AND INFANTS WITH THE AMOUNT OF HEAT THAT IS POURING OUT OF THE CLIMATE CONTROL DUCTING.
WHEN DRIVING CAR THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING CAUSING CAR TO HAVE EXTREMELY HARD STEERING. NO WARNING SIGNS OF BREAKDOWN, JUST QUIT CAUSING DANGEROUS DRIVING SITUATION. HAPPENED IN TRAFFIC ON FREEWAY. FORD SAYS EPAS MOTOR IS BAD AND SAYS IT'S NOT A RECALL, BUT IT WAS.

REPLACED AND SPENT 143.00 FOR A BIGGER BATTERY MADE FOR THIS CAR. WHILE READING THE WEB I NOTICED 2011 FORD TAURUS OWNERS ARE STATING A BUNCH OF BAD BATTERIES HAVE BEEN BOUGHT BY FORD OWNERS UNKNOWN TO THEM. NOW I HAVE CORROSION IN MY ENGINE AND MY ELECTRICAL IS NOT WORKING AGAIN.

THE PLATE LIGHT KEEPS BURNING OUT. IT HAPPENS EVERY MONTH. FOUND A RECALL REFERENCE # 14V285000. DEALER SAYS MY VEHICLE IS NOT COVERED BY THIS RECALL. I AM HAVING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. WHY AM I NOT COVERED.

THIS CAR HAS A STEERING RECALL ON IT. THE RECALL WAS FIXED AND CLOSED OUT THREE YEARS AGO. THE SAME ISSUE IS COMING UP AND IT IS SAYING FAULTY STEERING ON THE SCREEN AND I LOSE POWER STEERING. I SPOKE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND SHE SAID IN THE SEVEN YEARS SHE HAS BEEN THERE SHE HAS NOT SEEN AN ISSUE LIKE THIS HAPPEN AGAIN ON A VEHICLE BUT WHEN I GOOGLED ABOUT IT I SAW TONS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT PEOPLE GETTING THE STEERING RECALL 'FIXED' IN THEIR FORD AND THEN THE SAME ISSUE POPPING UP AGAIN AND THE CUSTOMER FORCED TO PAY THE MONEY FOR IT. IF MY STEERING GOES OUT I COULD BE IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT ESP SINCE I DO A LOT OF HIGHWAY DRIVING AND CHILDREN IN MY CAR.
I'VE HAD THIS CAR FOR 2 MONTHS ALREADY. THE CONTACT DID NOT RECALL IF THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE AIR BAGS DID DEPLOY HOWEVER SMOKE WAS RELEASED FROM THE AIR BAG AFTER IT RUPTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTO BODY SHOP HOWEVER THE INSURANCE COMPANY DEEMED THE VEHICLE A TOTAL LOSS. THE IMPACT OF THE CRASH WAS ON THE PASSENGER'S SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED MULTIPLE INTERNAL INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THIS FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000. THE CONTACT WAS REFERENCING NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V247000 (AIR BAGS) AS A CAUSE OF THE FAILURE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL.
MY TRUNK LEAKED ONCE IN 2017 SOAKING LEGAL PAPERWORK. FOUND SOURCE OF LEAK THROUGH FAULTY GASKETS, USED SILICONE AND PERFORMED MY OWN WATER TEST WITH HOSE. FRONT LEFT HEADLIGHT LEAKED THROUGH RUBBER GASKET. I HAVE HAD TO PAY OUT OF POCKET TO FIX MY CAR AND REPORTED ALL THIS TO FORD BUT WAS TOLD THERE ARE NO RECALLS AND SAFE MY RECEIPTS. AC COMPRESSED DIED PAID 1,000, SMART JUNCTION BOX NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND PAID 500 TO REPLACE PART THAT CIRCULATES INSIDE AIR. LOVE MY CAR PAID 37 TH BACK IN 2011 BUT SINCE OUT OF WARRANTEE AND BOUGHT EXTENDED WARRANTEE NOTHING MUCH IS COVERED. ONLY 58,400 MILES ON MY TAURUS SEL MODEL. WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER FORD AGAIN.

THE VEHICLE WON'T STOP IN A HURRY NO MATTER HOW HARD THE BRAKE PEDAL IS PUSHED. IF I DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THEN THE ACCELERATOR, THE BRAKES WON'T KEEP IT FROM MOVING. HAVE REPLACED MASTER CYLINDER AND BLEED BRAKES. AFRAID TO DRIVE IT. NOT SAFE IN TOWN.

THE CAR MENTIONED ONLY HAS 30,000 MILES ON IT. THIS SEEMS TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE AND I CONTACTED FORD, BUT NO ONE SEEMS TO CARE. THE EXTENDED WARRANTY RAN OUT LESS THAN THREE MONTHS AGO AND FORD DOES NOT CARE. I HAVE A 2011 FORD TAURUS SEL THAT HAS LESS THAN 130,000 MILES ON IT THAT HAS EXPERIENCED A TOTAL ENGINE FAILURE. IT STARTED WITH A COOLANT LEAK WHICH CAUSED THE CAR TO OVERHEAT. I NOTICED THE SMELL OF COOLANT. AFTER A WEEK OR SO, THE VEHICLE BEGAN MAKING SOME NOISES. AT THAT TIME, I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND THE VEHICLE STARTED MAKING A VERY LOUD NOISE, THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE CAME ON AND THE VEHICAL WAS OVERHEATING AND THE OIL LIGHT ALSO CAME ON, KEEPING IN MIND THAT I HAD JUST CHANGED THE OIL. ALSO, WHEN THE OIL WAS CHANGED, IT WAS NOTICED THAT THERE WAS SOME OTHER FLUID IN THE OIL (NOW AFTER SEEING ALL THE OTHER ISSUES, REALIZING IT WAS THE COOLANT THAT HAD LEAKED IN THE ENGINE CAUSING THE ENGINE FAILURE) ALL OF A SUDDEN, I EXPERIENCED TOTAL ENGINE FAILURE WHILE DRIVING. THE CAR SHUT OFF, I LOST POWER STEERING AND THE CAR BEGAN SMOKING VERY HEAVILY. I BELIEVED THE CAR WAS ON FIRE. IT SEEMS AS THOUGH THIS ISSUE HAS NOT ONLY HAPPENED TO MY CAR BUT ALSO MANY OTHER TAURUS'S AS WELL. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION, AS MY CAR STALLED OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC WITH A LOSS OF ALL MANEUVERABILITY.

I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET THE WEEK OF MAY 20, 2018 WHEN THE ENGINE SUDDENLY WENT DEAD. (LOSS OF POWERING STEERING AND BREAKS). I DRIFTED TO A STOP ALONG THE ROADSIDE. AFTER TURNING THE CAR OFF I CHECKED THE BREAKS AND STEERING AND THEN WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR. THE SECOND OCCURRENCE WAS JUNE 3, 2018 WHILE DRIVING DOWN A NEIGHBORHOOD STREET. AGAIN THE ENGINE QUIT RUNNING, I DRIFTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, TURNED IT OFF AND WAS ABLE TO RESTART AFTER A FEW MINUTES AND WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE MY DRIVE. ON BOTH OCCASIONS THE ONLY WARNING WAS A SILHOUETTE OF THE CAR ON THE DASHBOARD AS THE ENGINE WENT DEAD.
MY TAURUS JUST DIED ON ME, IT OVERHEATED AND I WAS STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. I WAS ONLY A FEW BLOCKS FROM MY HOME SO I LET THE CAR COOL AS THE MANUAL SAYS TO DO AND THEN STARTED IT AGAIN. KNOWING THIS THEY TELL YOU IN THE MANUAL YOU CAN DRIVE THE CAR WHEN IT'S COOLED AND PUT WATER IN IT IF NEEDED. THIS WILL RUIN YOUR ENGINE!

WE BROUGHT THE CAR TO LOCAL MECHANIC WHO SHOWED ME THERE WAS COOLANT IN THE OIL. I ASKED HOW COULD THIS HAPPEN? IS THERE ARE CRACK IN THE BLOCK OR THE HEADS? HE INFORMED ME THAT THIS MODEL OF ENGINE HAS WATER PUMP FAILURES THAT LEAK COOLANT INTO THE OIL. BECAUSE OF THE DAMAGE THAT THIS CAUSES IT WOULD REQUIRE A NEW MOTOR. I HAVE ASKED THAT THE MECHANIC TAKE PICTURES OF THIS FOR EVIDENCE OF THIS ISSUE WHICH I WILL RECEIVE WHEN THE CAR IS FINISHED.
STARTING MY MORNING COMMUTE MY VEHICLES "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT" SENSOR/WARNING TRIGGERED AND THE CAR WOULD NOT TURN. I STOPPED AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE TWICE THEN IT WENT AWAY AND POWER STEERING WAS BACK TO NORMAL. RESEARCHING THIS FURTHER I FOUND THAT MY CAR PRESENTED THE SAME SYMPTOMS/ISSUES AS SAFETY RECALL 15S18 FOR FORD VEHICLES ISSUED IN 2015 AND 2016. WHEN CALLING FORD CUSTOMER CARE THEY STATED MY CAR'S VIN WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL AND THEY COULDN'T BE OF HELP. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO MY LOCAL INDEPENDENT CERTIFIED MECHANIC AND THEY NOTED CODES U3000-49 AND U3000-72 WERE TRIGGERED. ACCORDING TO THE DEALER AND CONFIRMED BY OWNER COMMENTS ON THE WEB, THE PTU MAY NEED TO BE REPLACED AFTER 80000 MILES. IF IT IS NOT REPAIRED THE UNIT WILL FAIL AND THE CAR WILL LOCKUP AND HAVE TO BE TOWED TO A MECHANIC FOR REPAIR. THE PTU IS ONLY USED ON VEHICLES WITH AWD. MY TAURUS HAS 82500 MILES ON IT. THEY MENTIONED THAT IT WAS A "CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE" - COOLANT HAD MIXED IN WITH THE OIL AND WAS PRETTY MUCH SITTING THERE. I WAS VERY FORTUNATE THAT THIS HAS NOT CAUSED A MAJOR ACCIDENT AS I EXPLAINED IT WAS REAL DIFFICULT TO DRIVE THE CAR AFTER IT STALLED. WE FOLLOWED MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE - WE ARE VERY ANAL ABOUT THAT. WE HAD THE DEVICE IN THE CAR FOR SEVERAL MONTHS AND IT OCCURRED ONLY ONE TIME. THE DEVICE PROVIDED NO HELP IN IDENTIFYING THE PROBLEM. THEY REMOVED THE DEVICE AND SAID THAT IT APPEARED THE PROBLEM HAD RESOLVED ITSELF. WE DID NOT HAVE THE PROBLEM AGAIN UNTIL SEPTEMBER OF 2015. THE ODOMETER WAS NEAR 25,000 MILES. WE WERE TRAVELING ON A VERY CURVY 55 MPH ROAD WITH NO SHOULDERS WHEN WE LOST POWER AND IT CUT OFF. THEY CONTACTED THE REGIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE MANAGER FOR SHEEHY FORD AND HE OPENED CASE CAS-7525445. HE MADE ARRANGEMENTS WITH SHEEHY FORD TO ENGAGE 'FORD ENGINEERING' TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. AS IT TURNED OUT SHEEHY FORD HAD OUR CAR FOR NEARLY 2 WEEKS BUT MERELY DROVE IT TO ATTEMPT TO REPEAT THE PROBLEM. THE CAR DID NOT CUT-OFF DURING THEIR NEARLY 900 MILES OF DRIVING IT. IN NOVEMBER OF 2015 WE CONTACTED FORD MOTOR COMPANY PRODUCT CLAIMS DEPARTMENT AND THEY REFUSED TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. WE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AGAIN ON JUNE 16, 2016 AT APPROXIMATELY 29,500 MILES WILE DRIVING ON I-295 AT 70 MILES PER HOUR.

THIS IS A POSSIBLE SAFETY ISSUE THAT COULD POSSIBLE KILL SOMEONE OR EVEN GET ME KILLED WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE (WHICH I DON'T). RIGHT NOW IT'S AT THE DEALER AND HAD TO BE TOWED AWAY SINCE THE VEHICLE COULDN'T BE MOVED.

I DID NOT MAKE A RECORD ABOUT IT FOR THE FIRST TWO SO AM REPORTING ON THE LATEST. I HAVE A PUSH BUTTON IGNITION AND REMOTE KEYS. IT RANDOMLY DOES NOT DETECT THE KEYS AS WELL AND THEN IT TAKES SOME PUSHING ALL THE BUTTONS ON THE REMOTE TO RECOGNIZE I HAVE THE KEY THERE. YESTERDAY THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE BATTERIES IN THE REMOTE AND RECOMMENDED I REPLACE THEM ANNUALLY. THEY COULD NOT OFFER ME AN EXPLANATION AS TO WHY IT WAS NOT RECOGNIZING THE KEYS WHEN I AM DRIVING DOWN A ROAD AND IT SHUTS OFF. THIS IS AN ACCIDENT THING WAITING TO HAPPEN. THEY DID A DIAGNOSTIC ON IT AS WELL AND SEARCHED THE HOME OFFICE FOR ANY DEFECT OR RECALL AND HAVE NONE. IS THIS A REPORTED INCIDENT AND IS THERE ANYTHING ON IT? I AM REPORTING THIS BECAUSE IF IT CAUSES AN ACCIDENT I WANT IT ON THE RECORD AS WELL. I WENT TO FORD DEALERSHIP TO TRY AND GET IT REMEDIED. *JS

I OWN A 2011 FORD TAURUS WITH HEATED LEATHER SEATS. THE HEATING MECHANISM BEGAN TO GET HOTTER IN SPOTS ON THE BACK OF THE SEAT ON MY DRIVE INTO WORK. ON 08/22/2013 I MADE CONTACT WITH HER SHE CONTACTED THEIR TECHNICAL PEOPLE AND GOT BACK WITH ME STATING THERE WAS NOTHING ELSE THEY COULD DO FOR THIS CAR STATING THAT IT WAS A DESIGN ISSUE AND THEY HAVE OTHER COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER AREAS OF THE COUNTRY WITH THE SAME ISSUE. I PURCHASED A NEW 2011 TAURUS SEL A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO. ONE DAY WHILE DRIVING INTO A PARKING LOT, THE CAR ACCELERATED FULL SPEED ON ITS OWN HEAD ON INTO A WALL AND WAS SEVERELY DAMAGED ($11,000+ IN DAMAGES - THE DRIVER AIRBAG DEPLOYED BUT I WAS NOT INJURED). THE INSURANCE COMPANY DID NOT TOTAL THE CAR AND IT WAS REPAIRED. THE CAUSE FOR THE UNINTENDED ACCELERATION WAS NEVER DETERMINED. THIS PAST WEEKEND MY BROTHER WAS DRIVING THE CAR AND ALMOST GOT INVOLVED IN A SIMILAR INCIDENT. HE WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT IN THE TAURUS. HE FELT A STRANGE RUMBLING THAT FELT LIKE IT WAS COMING FROM UNDERNEATH HIM. HE WASN'T EVEN SURE IT WAS THE CAR SO HE TOOK HIS FOOT OFF THE BRAKE SLIGHTLY TO SEE IF THE RUMBLING WOULD STOP. AS SOON AS HE TOOK HIS FOOT OFF THE BRAKE, THE RPM GAUGE SHOT UP TO 7,000 AND THE CAR TOOK OFF. HE SLAMMED HIS FOOT BACK DOWN ON THE BRAKE AND THE CAR STOPPED BUT THE RPM GAUGE WAS STILL AT 7,000 AND THE ENGINE WAS RACING. WHILE THE ENGINE WAS RACING (WITH NORMAL PRESSURE APPLIED TO THE BRAKE THE CAR DID NOT MOVE EVEN THOUGH THE ENGINE WAS RACING) HE TOOK A GLANCE DOWN AT THE GAS PEDAL AND NOTHING WAS PRESSING DOWN ON THE GAS PEDAL...NO FEET, NO TRAPPED FLOOR MATS. HE SHIFTED TO PARK, THE ENGINE CALMED DOWN AND IT WAS LIKE NOTHING EVER HAPPENED. IT DROVE NORMALLY AGAIN. THE CAR IS GOING BACK TO A FORD DEALER FOR INSPECTION BUT THERE IS CLEARLY A POTENTIALLY FATAL MANUFACTURER DEFECT IN THIS VEHICLE. *TR

IT WILL "MISS" AND THEN "CATCH" AND ACCELERATE WHEN PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL. THIS OCCURS RANDOMLY AND IN NO PATTERN AT ALL. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER IN DECEMBER 2012 AND THEY CLAIMED THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE ISSUE. THEY INDICATED NO AWARENESS THAT THIS WAS A "KNOWN ISSUE" WITH THE CAR (I HAVE THE SERVICE RECEIPT IF NEEDED). THIS HAS OCCURRED SINCE PURCHASING THE CAR WITH ~9,000 MILES ON IT IN MARCH OF 2012. THIS ALSO OCCURS RARELY AT HIGHER SPEEDS. OCCASIONALLY THE CRUISE CONTROL WILL CANCEL AND THE CAR WILL SHUTTER AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THIS HAPPENS MUCH LESS FREQUENTLY THAN WHEN THE CAR IS AT LOW SPEEDS OR A STOP. I READ A USA TODAY ARTICLE TODAY THAT OTHER OWNERS OF THE ECOBOOST 3.5L V6 ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS. I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE ADN AFTER ONLY 15,000 MILES I VISITED THE DEALER FOR A GRINDING SOUND ON THE BRAKES. FORD RECOMMENDED THAT I HAD TO PAY FOR REPAIR ON THE BRAKES BECAUSE THE PADS WERE ALMOST GONE AND I TOLD THEM THAT IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE BECAUSE I DO NOT BRAKE THAT MUCH SINCE I USE THE VEHICLE IN THE HIGHWAY MOST OF THE TIME. AFTER THE CAR WAS REPAIRED I HAD TO BRING THE VEHICLE BACK FOR BRAKE REPAIR ONLY AFTER 4,000 ADDITIONAL MILES AND THEY TOLD ME THE BRAKES WERE FINE, BUT I TOLD THEM THAT THE BRAKES WERE FAILING BECAUSE THE I HAD DIFFICULTY BRAKING AND HAD TO PRESS THEM TOO HARD TO FULLY STOP. I HAVE ALMOST CRASHED A COUPLE OF TIMES, BUT I FEAR THAT IF I HAVE TO PERFORM AN EMERGENCY STOP WHILE THE BRAKES ARE HOT I WILL CRASH. I TOOK THE VEHICLE FOR A SECOND PROFESSIONALO OPINION AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE VEHICLE IS TOO HEAVY FOR THE BRAKING SYSTEM. IN ADDITION, FORD MODIFIED THE BRAKE SYSTEM IN 2013 MODELS AND ADDED 30% MORE BRAKING SPACE ON THEIR ROTORS. I BELIEVE THEY KNOW ABOUT THIS DEFECT AND HAVE IGNORED THIS SITUATION. THEY HAVE WORKED ON THE CAR MORE THAN SIX TIMES AND NOTHING. WHEN THE BRAKES GET HOT THE ROTORS GET "CRYSTALIZED" AND THEN A HUMMING GRINDING SOUND STARTS FOLLOWED BY "SPONGE LIKE FEELING" ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. MY 2001 TAURUS SES DURING COLD AND/OR SNOWY/RAINY MONTHS DOORS FREEZE UP CONSTANTLY. VERY DIFFICULT TO GET INTO CAR. WHEN I FINALLY MANAGE TO GET IN I HAVE TO DRIVE HOLDING ONTO THE DOOR BECAUSE IT WILL NOT RESHUT AS THE DOOR HANDLE ASSEMBLY BECOMES LODGED AND DOOR WILL NOT LATCH. I HAVE INSPECTED THE RUBBER AROUND DOOR AND IT LOOKS FINE. BUT I DO GO TREAT IT EVERY COLD SEASON IN HOPES THE DOOR WILL NOT RE-FREEZE BUT I HAVE BEEN UNSUCCESSFUL AS IT STILL IS HAPPENING. JUST HOURS AFTER ROUTINE OIL AND FILTER CHANGE, I PULLED OUT ONTO THE HIGHWAY, ACCELERATING TO ACCESS THE ROADWAY AT A REASONABLE SPEED OF TRAFFIC. THE ENGINE BEGAN TO SLOW, AND THEN STOPPED COMPLETELY.....NO POWER, NOTHING!!!! I WAS ALMOST REAR-ENDED AND CATAPULTED INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THE DEALERSHIP WAS CONTACTED AND BROUGHT THE CAR IN, WHERE THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN WAS CAUSED BY AN INSECT THAT "GOT THRU" THE SCREEN ON THE AIR FILTER VALVE(?) AND ATTACHED ITSELF TO THE FILAMENT THAT READS AND ADJUSTS THE AIR/GAS MIX. THE SYSTEM COULDN'T READ IT AND THE ENGINE "AUTOMATICALLY SHUT DOWN". THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY RISK....HOW CAN AN ENGINE BE SHUT DOWN BY AN INSECT, REGARDLESS OF AUTO SPEED, LOCATION ETC ETC ETC. ANY "AUTOMATIC" ENGINE SHUTDOWN IS AN INEXCUSABLE DESIGN FLAW AND SHOULD BE CORRECTED BEFORE THERE IS A FATALITY....IT WAS ALMOST MY FATALITY. THE SERVICE MANAGER ALSO SAID THIS WAS "ONLY THE SECOND TIME" HE HAD SEEN THIS PROBLEM IN THE TAURUS.

I WAS DRIVING ON AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY IN THE LEFT LANE. TRAFFIC CAUSED ME TO BRAKE HARD AND TURN THE WHEEL SLIGHTLY TO AVOID COLLISION. MOMENTS LATER, I GET A LOW TIRE PRESSURE WARNING. WHEN I EXIT TO A GAS STATION, THE TIRE HAS BECOME COMPLETELY FLAT AND IS OFF THE RIM. IT IS THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE. THE TIRE THAT RECEIVED THE MOST FORCE FROM BRAKING. IT APPEARS THE FORCE CAUSED A BREAK IN THE SEAL WITH THE RIM. SUBSEQUENTLY THE TIRE AND POSSIBLY THE RIM WERE DAMAGED. THE CAR IS A 2011 TAURUS WITH 700 MILES ON IT. THE DEALERSHIP IS ALREADY TAKING THE POSITION THAT THIS SCENARIO COULD NOT HAPPEN UNLESS THE TIRE WAS ALREADY LOW ON PRESSURE SUCH AS FROM A PUNCTURE. THE START ENGINE BUTTON CUTS THE ENGINE OFF IF YOU ACCIDENTALLY HIT IT. IT IS RIGHT BESIDE THE RADIO ON/OFF BUTTON SO IS VERY EASY TO HIT BY MISTAKE. IF YOU ARE DRIVING 70 MPH ON THE INTERSTATE AND ACCIDENTALLY HIT IT YOU ARE LEFT WITH NO ENGINE POWER, NO POWER BRAKES AND NO POWER STEERING. SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET KILLED. 2011 FORD TAURUS HEADLIGHTS DO NOT PROJECT, HAVE DARK SPOTS, CAN'T SEE PROPERLY. HAVE RETURNED TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES. THEY HAVE ADJUSTED AND APPARENTLY DONE ALL THEY KNOW TO DO. IT IS STILL NOT CORRECT. IT IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION WHEN TRAVELING ON INTERSTATE LATE @ NIGHT. WE HAVE OWNED AND DRIVEN MANY DIFFERENT FORDS ALL OUR LIFE, SPECIFICALLY A 1994 TAURUS AND DIDN'T HAVE THIS PROBLEM. IT IS ESPECIALLY DANGEROUS WHEN THERE ARE NO OTHER VEHICLES ON THE HIGHWAY. WITH ONE OF THE ADJUSTMENTS THERE WAS NO VISION TO THE SIDES OF THE ROAD. AFTER SEVERAL ADJUSTMENTS THE BEAMS STILL DO NOT PROJECT THE PROPER DISTANCE. IT SEEMS SOME KIND OF SHUTTER IS IN THE WAY. I HAVE 2 PROBLEMS WITH ACCELERATION. ONE IS FROM A STOP. THE CAR DOESN'T ACCELERATE FOR A SECOND OR TWO WHEN STEPPING ON GAS. THIS HAS HAPPENED A COUPLE TIMES. SECOND PROBLEM HAPPENED AT HIGHWAY SPEED. THIS PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED ONLY ONCE SO FAR. DUE TO THE AMOUNT OF TRAFFIC MERGING IN AND OUT, IT HAPPENED VERY QUICKLY. ONCE OUT IN THE PASSING LANE IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC ON THIS BUSY INTERSTATE HIGHWAY, CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE FOR A COUPLE SECONDS. TRIED PUSHING ON THE GAS PEDAL A COUPLE TIMES WITH NO RESPONSE. CAR EVENTUALLY ACCELERATED. FELT LIKE TRANSMISSION FAILURE. I FEEL BOTH INCIDENTS ARE A SAFETY CONCERN. WHEN THE CAR DOESN'T ACCELERATE WHEN YOU EXPECT IT TO, YOU ARE AT RISK IF TRAFFIC AROUND YOU CAN'T STOP IN TIME. FORD SERVICE SAYS THAT IT'S BECAUSE OF A DEFECTIVE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY, WHICH DOESN'T SET IDLE SPEED HIGH ENOUGH. TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN 10-21-6 FOR CODES P 2111 AND P 2112 WAS ISSUED ABOUT THIS. IT STARTED MAR 25, 2011, AT 5, 092 MILES, AND WAS REPAIRED AT 5,354 MILES. IT'S OCCURRED FIVE TIMES SINCE (ON MAR 29, 2011, AND JUNE 10, 2011). THIS HAS NEARLY CAUSED A REAR-END COLLISION. IT'S NOT SAFE. FORD SERVICE REPLACED DEFECTIVE PART, YET PROBLEM PERSISTS. MY VEHICLE GIVES NO WARNING, UNTIL I HAVE NO POWER WHEN I DEPRESS THE GAS. THE DASH LIGHTS UP "SHIFT TO PARK." I WAS DRIVING ON THE N.J. TPKE. AT HIGHWAY SPEED. I ACCIDENTALLY HIT THE PUSH BUTTON START BUTTON. THE ENGINE SHUT OFF AND THE DASH SAID SHIFT INTO PARK. THE DEALER CAN NOT FIGURE OUT WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT. THE CAR HAS DID THIS FIVE TIMES AND DEALER PUT A DEVICE ON IT TO RECORD THIS "IF IT DOES IT AGAIN". HEADLIGHTS DO NOT SHINE FAR ENOUGH AHEAD TO BE ABLE TO SEE ANYTHING THAT'S OVER 200 FEET AHEAD. ONLY WAY YOU CAN SEE FARTHER IS TO USE THE BRIGHT LIGHTS ALL THE TIME. YOU CANT SEE CURVES COMING UP OR DEER STANDING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD NOTHING. THEY JUST DO NOT SHINE FAR ENOUGH IN FRONT OF THE CAR. THERE IS A BLACK LINE WHERE THE LIGHTS END LIKE SOMETHING IS BLOCKING THE TOP HALF OF THE LIGHT. VERY DANGEROUS
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD TAURUS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE COASTED TO A STOP AND UPON RESTART, THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE DRIVING. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ONCE AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 700.

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2010-2014 Taurus vehicles manufactured November 24, 2008, through February 28, 2014, originally sold in, or currently registered in, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia, Wisconsin and the District of Columbia. When used in areas that use road salt, the license plate lamp assembly may experience an electro-chemical reaction and corrosion as a result of water intrusion.

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2010-2013 Ford Taurus vehicles manufactured December 1, 2009, to July 31, 2010, and 2011-2013 Lincoln MKS vehicles manufactured June 1, 2011, to October 31, 2011. In the affected vehicles, the interior door handle return spring may unseat, resulting in interior door handle that does not return to the fully stowed position after actuation.

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2011-2012 Ford Fusion vehicles without a 3.5L engine and Lincoln MKZ hybrid electric vehicles, 2011 Mercury Milan vehicles, 2011-2012 Ford Taurus, Ford Flex, Lincoln MKS, and Lincoln MKT vehicles equipped with a 3.5L GTDI engine and 2013 Ford Taurus, Ford Flex, Lincoln MKS, and Lincoln MKT vehicles equipped with any available engine. The affected vehicles have electric power steering assist systems that may shut down as a result of a steering motor sensor fault.

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2009-2012 Ford Flex, 2008 and 2010-2012 Ford Taurus, 2008-2009 Ford Taurus X, 2008 Mercury Sable, 2009 and 2011 Lincoln MKS vehicles. The driver frontal air bag may improperly inflate during second-stage deployment in the event of a high speed crash. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."
