2011 Honda Fit. Consumer writes seeking reimbursement for vehicle repairs made related to NHTSA Safety Recall 20V-770.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HONDA FIT. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNDISCLOSED SPEED, THE DRIVE SHAFT FRACTURED AND THE VEHICLE LOSS DRIVE POWER. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE HONDA SUPERSTORE OF JOLIET (3225 PLAINFIELD RD, JOLIET, IL 60431) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE DRIVE SHAFT WAS BROKEN AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, A YEAR LATER THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BACK TO THE HONDA SUPERSTORE OF JOLIET (3225 PLAINFIELD RD, JOLIET, IL 60431) AND THE DRIVE SHAFT WAS REPLACED. THE CONTACT RELATED THE FAILURE TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 20V770000 (POWER TRAIN). THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS STILL AWAITING A CALLBACK FROM THE MANUFACTURER FOR GUIDANCE ON HOW TO PROCEED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 97,758.
I DON'T KNOW IF MY CAR STALLING AT A RED LIGHT MIGHT CAUSE A WRECK IF IN MOTION. SITTING AT A RED LIGHT AND MY CAR JUST STALLS FOR A SECOND THEN RIGHT BACK ON. RADIO AND LIGHTS GO OUT FOR JUST A SECOND. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE WHILE SITTING AT A RED LIGHT. HOPE IT DOESN'T CAUSE A WRECK WHILE IN MOTION.
DRIVER'S SIDE AXLE BROKE RESULTING IN COMPLETE LOSS OF PROPULSION. PASSENGER SIDE AXLE SHOWING SIMILAR SYMPTOMS. BOTH AXLES HAD TO BE REPLACED TO RESUME SAFE AND NORMAL FUNCTION. ABSOLUTELY NO WARNING, HAD REGULAR MAINTENANCE DONE AND JUST DRIVEN CAR CROSS-COUNTRY (WV->WA) 2 WEEKS PRIOR WITHOUT INCIDENT. CAR IS 2011 HONDA FIT WITH ~70K MILES ON IT, REGULARLY MAINTAINED AT DEALER AND UP UNTIL THE INCIDENT I WAS COMPLETELY SATISFIED WITH THE VEHICLE. I HAVE INCLUDED THE CARD FROM THE SPD WITH THE INCIDENT NUMBER, THE RECEIPT FROM HONDA OF SEATTLE FOR THE WORK, THE RECEIPT FOR MY PAYMENT, AND A PHOTOGRAPH OF THE OLD AXLES SHOWING THE BREAK. I HAVE RETAINED THEM IN CASE THEY WOULD BE RELEVANT FOR INVESTIGATIVE PURPOSES AND WOULD BE HAPPY TO TURN THEM OVER. INCIDENT OCCURRED EASTBOUND AT 1ST AVE S AND YESLER IN DOWNTOWN SEATTLE WHILE RESUMING FORWARD MOTION FROM SITTING AT A STOP LIGHT. I FOUND AN EXPERIENCE FROM ANOTHER FIT OWNER ALMOST IDENTICAL TO MINE: HTTPS://WWW.FITFREAK.NET/FORUMS/1ST-GENERATION-GD-01-08/98605-AXLE-PROBLEMS.HTML#POST1406103 I AM EXTREMELY CONCERNED ABOUT THIS AS A I HAVE ANOTHER FAMILY MEMBER IN MICHIGAN WITH A HONDA FIT OF SIMILAR VINTAGE AND I HAVE ADVISED THEM TO HAVE THEIR AXLES INSPECTED. I AM SHAKEN TO THINK OF THE AXLE BREAKING WHILE DRIVING IN THE MOUNTAINS, OR TRYING TO MERGE ONTO A BUSY HIGHWAY. I CONSIDER MYSELF EXTREMELY FORTUNATE, IT COULD HAVE BEEN MUCH, MUCH WORSE. NOT ONLY COULD THIS HAVE BEEN A MAJOR SAFETY EVENT BUT THE REPAIR SUGGESTED BY HONDA WAS ~3K WHICH IS PROBABLY OUTSIDE OF THE BUDGET FOR MOST HONDA FIT OWNERS.
DRIVER PARKED 2011 HONDA FIT IN DRIVEWAY. IGNITION OFF CAR IN 1ST GEAR. AFTER ~ 4 MIN. CAR BEGAN SLOWLY ROLLING BACKWARD DOWN DRIVEWAY, ROLLING OVER CURB AND STOPPED UPON IMPACT W. TREE. IMPACT CAUSED DAMAGE TO LEFT REAR BUMPER, CRUSHED LEFT REAR BRAKE LIGHT AND WHEEL WELL. LEFT SIDE PANELS PUSHED FORWARD, SHIFTING LEFT SIDE FRAME OF CAR TOWARD FRONT OF CAR. INSPECTING CAR AT SITE OF IMPACT, DRIVER VERIFIED IGNITION REMAINED OFF AND GEAR SHIFT REMAINED IN 1ST GEAR POSITION. CAR WAS NOT DRIVEABLE, REQUIRING CAR TO BE TOWED FROM SITE. THANKFULLY NEIGHBORHOOD CHILDREN WERE NOT PLAYING IN PATH OF CAR AND CAR DID NOT ENTER MAJOR INTERSECTION WHERE IT WOULD LIKELY HAVE CAUSED A SERIOUS IF NOT FATAL ACCIDENT.
BROKEN OR FRACTURED PASSENGER CV AXEL.
SPARK PLUG BLOWOUT, THREADS RIPPED ON CYLINDER 3. CAR LOST POWER AND EJECTED SPARK PLUG ON HIGHWAY.
ONE YEAR AGO AN AXLE BROKE ON MY 2011 HONDA FIT. I HAD IT REPLACED. TODAY THE OTHER AXLE BROKE. I LOOKED ONLINE AND IT APPEARS THIS IS NOT AN UNCOMMON PROBLEM. IN BOTH CASES, IT HAPPENED WHEN I MADE A FAIRLY HARD U-TURN AND SHIFTED INTO REVERSE TO COMPLETE A THREE POINT TURN. I'M ASSUMING THE EXTRA FORCE ON THE SHAFT HAD TO DO WITH HAVING THE WHEELS TURNED HARD AND THEN ATTEMPTING TO REVERSE THEM, PERHAPS WHILE THEY WERE STILL MOVING. REGARDLESS, THIS SEEMS LIKE SOMETHING THAT SHOULDN'T HAPPEN SO EASILY ON A CAR THAT'S NOT THAT OLD.
WHEN MY WIFE BACKED OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY ONTO THE STREET AND SHIFTED FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE, SHE HEARD A LOUD POP AND THEN SCRAPING NOISES. THE CAR THEN COULDN'T MOVE AND WE HAD TO SHIFT TO NEUTRAL AND PUSH THE CAR BACK INTO THE DRIVEWAY TO BE TOWED TO OUR MECHANIC. HE LATER TOLD US THAT THE LEFT FRONT AXLE BROKE AND THE RIGHT FRONT AXLE WOULD PROBABLY GO IN TWO MONTHS. IT TURNED OUT TO BE SEVERAL WEEKS. THE SAME THING HAPPENED WHEN I BACKED OUT OF A PARKING SPACE IN A PARKING LOT. WHEN I SHIFTED TO DRIVE, THE SAME POP AND THE CAR WOULDN'T MOVE. THE CAR WAS TOWED AGAIN, THIS TIME THE RIGHT FRONT AXLE BROKE.
WHILE STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT IN TOWN (LUCKILY - AND NOT ON A TURNPIKE OR HIGHWAY) MY CAR SUDDENLY CAME TO A JARRING HALT WHEN I ACCELERATED WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN. TWO STRANGERS HELPED ME PUSH THE CAR ACROSS TRAFFIC TO A PARKING LOT AND I HAD TO CALL AAA FOR A TOW TO A LOCAL AUTO REPAIR. THE AXLE HAD SNAPPED BECAUSE OF THE RUBBER VIBRATION DIMINISHER WHICH TRAPS WATER AND DEBRIS THEN THIS ACCUMULATION RUSTS THE AXLE AND COMPROMISES ITS INTEGRITY. VERY DANGEROUS BECAUSE I HAD JUST COME OFF OF A 4 LANE HIGHWAY AND COULD HAVE CAUSED A PILEUP IF I HAD SUDDENLY STOPPED ON THAT HIGHWAY. I CHECKED THE INTERNET AND DISCOVERED THAT THIS SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH LOTS OF HONDA FIT MODELS.
THE AIRBAG LIGHTS KEEP TURNING ON AND OFF, BEEN REPLACED TWICE AND STILL DOING THE SAME THING. MATURE SECURITY ISSUE. ALSO, HAD MY CAR IN THE REPAIR SHOP 3 TIMES BECAUSE OF FOLLOWING REAONS: WHEN ACCELERATING FROM 0-35 MPH IT MAKES A GRINDING NOISE. HAD IT HOOKED UP TO A DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE 3 TIMES AND THE NOISE WAS NOTICED, BUT NEVER RESOLVED.
STOPPED AT INTERSECTION. STARTED TO PROCEED BY TAKING FOOT OFF BRAKE & PRESSING ON GAS & THERE WAS A LOUD THUD & NO FORWARD MOTION. PLACED IN PARK, THEN BACK IN DRIVE. IN DRIVE ENGINE REVS, AND THERE IS A HIGH PITCHED NOISE, BUT NO FORWARD MOTION. HAD TO CALL TOW TRUCK. MECHANIC REPLACED THE DRIVER SIDE AXEL SHAFT ASSEMBLY, AS AXEL WAS BROKEN. MECHANIC STATED THAT RUST HAD FORMED UNDER A PLASTIC FITTING MIDWAY ON THE SHAFT, AND THIS WAS THE SECOND ONE HE REPLACED THAT WEEK.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HONDA FIT. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVING AT ANY SPEED, THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM SHUT OFF, THE STEERING LOST POWER, AND THE HEADLIGHTS SHUT OFF. THE SYSTEM RESTARTED A FEW MINUTES LATER. THE FAILURE RECURRED MORE OFTEN WHEN THE HEATER OR AIR CONDITIONER WERE ACTIVATED. THERE WAS NO WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT CALLED DCH HONDA OF NANUET AT 845- 367-4380 (LOCATED AT 10 NY-304, NANUET, NY 10954) AND WAS INFORMED TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. A CASE NUMBER WAS PROVIDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 60,000.
HONDA FIT 2011 ON 7/18/19 I WAS DRIVING WEST ON GOLF ROAD IN NILES, IL. AS I MADE A LEFT TURN AT THE LIGHT, THE FIT MADE A NOISE WHICH SOUNDED LIKE I HAD DRIVEN OVER A METAL BARREL. THE CAR LOST POWER AND DRIFTED INTO A STRIP MALL PARKING LOT. SOMEONE HELPED ME PUSH IT OUT OF THE WAY OF INCOMING TRAFFIC. AFTER HAVING IT TOWED, MY MECHANIC DISCOVERED THAT THE DRIVER-SIDE DRIVESHAFT HAD CORRODED, ESPECIALLY UNDER THE RUBBER DAMPER, AND HAD COMPLETELY BROKEN THROUGH. ALSO, THE PASSENGER-SIDE DRIVESHAFT HAD CORRODED IN THE SAME PLACE, AND WAS BEGINNING TO WEAR THROUGH. (I SENT TWO PHOTOS OF THE TWO DRIVESHAFTS TO NHTSA.WEBMASTER @DOT.GOV TODAY.) I AM A 75 YEAR OLD CAREFUL DRIVER, NO ACCIDENTS, NO MOVING VIOLATIONS ON MY RECORD. THE CAR HAD JUST 44,615 MILES ON IT AND HAS BEEN WELL MAINTAINED REGULARLY SINCE I BOUGHT IT. I SPOKE TO THE SERVICE DIRECTOR AT MY HONDA DEALERSHIP, WHO SAID "IN MY OPINION, THE AXLE SHOULD NEVER BREAK." IF THIS DEFECT IS APPEARING IN OTHER HONDA FITS, THE CAR SHOULD BE RECALLED. COST TO ME: $396.78 FOR TWO NEW DRIVESHAFTS, AND $295 FOR LABOR.. AND, BY THE WAY, I COULD HAVE BEEN HIT BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC, AND I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED.
STOPPED AT INTERSECTION. LIFTED FOOT OFF BRAKE, STARTED TO GO AND CAR STOPPED. IT MADE A CLANK. THE ENGINE CLICKING BUT NOT ENGAGING IN DRIVE. A BYSTANDER PUSHED MY CAR (IN NEUTRAL) OFF THE ROAD. HAD CAR TOWED AND FIXED WHERE I LEARNED IT WAS FRONT LEFT AXLE
CHECK ENGINE
ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING (EPS) CUTS OUT AND BACK IN AT UNPREDICTABLE TIMES CAUSING STEERING TO BECOME STIFF AND UNSAFE. THE EPS INDICATOR COMES MOMENTARILY WHEN ASSISTED STEERING IS NOT AVAILABLE AND TURNS OFF WHEN POWER STEERING IS RESTORED. IT HAPPENS PERIODICALLY UNDER ALL DIFFERENT DRIVING CONDITIONS. THIS LOOSING AND REGAINING ASSISTED POWER STEERING HAPPENS WITH IN SECONDS. IF CORNERING WHEN THIS OCCURS, THE LOSS OF POWERING STEERING CAUSES SEVERE UNDERSTEERING FOLLOWED BY SEVERE OVERSTEERING WHEN POWER STEERING IS RETURNED (ALL WITHIN THE SAME CORNERING MANEUVER). FIRST NOTICED JUST PRIOR TO GETTING THE TAKATA RECALL PERFORMED; HONDA DEALER STATED THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE STEERING BECAUSE THEY "COULD NOT FIND ANY CODES". DID NOT NOTICE THIS PROBLEM TOO MUCH AGAIN TILL RECENTLY WHEN IT STARTED OCCURRING SO FREQUENTLY THE CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE OWNER'S MANUAL STATES THERE IS ONLY A PROBLEM WITH EPS IF THE WARNING LIGHT STAYS ON. HONDA DEALERS ARE 'UNAWARE OF ANY ISSUES' ALTHOUGH HONDA HAS HAD EPS ISSUES WITH THE FIT AS DOCUMENTED IN NHTSA COMPLAINTS AS WELL AS HONDA SERVICE BULLETIN 14-058 (DEALING WITH EARLIER MODEL FITS). WHEN I RECENTLY CONTACTED HONDA AND ASKED ABOUT THE PROBLEM THEY STATED THEY HAVE NO INFO ON DEFECTS AND BASICALLY IT SUCKS TO BE ME. BECAUSE THERE ARE SUPPOSEDLY NO STORED DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTC) WITH THIS KNOWN ISSUE IT CANNOT BE RULED OUT AS A CAUSE OF ACCIDENTS. IT SEEMS ANY AND ALL HONDA FIT ACCIDENTS (ESPECIALLY INVOLVING FATALITIES OR SEVER INJURIES) IT WOULD BE CIRCUMSPECT TO CONSIDER THE UNPREDICTABLE LOSS OF POWER STEERING, WHICH CAUSES OVER AND UNDER CORRECTION IN CORNERING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2011 HONDA FIT. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 7 MPH, THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS REAR ENDED BY ANOTHER VEHICLE TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH. NONE OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. POLICE REPORT NUMBER: PA-19-285971 WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED TO A POLICE IMPOUND FACILITY. THE FRONT PASSENGER WAS TRANSPORTED BY AMBULANCE TO THE HOSPITAL AND SUSTAINED FIVE BROKEN RIBS, A BROKEN BACK, AND LACERATIONS TO THE HEAD. THE OCCUPANT REMAINED IN THE HOSPITAL FOR EIGHT DAYS. THE SECOND ROW PASSENGER AND A CHILD WERE ALSO TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL WITH INJURIES TO THE FACE AND HEAD. THEY REMAINED IN THE HOSPITAL FOR ONE MONTH. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 51,000.
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR STARTED MAKING HUMMING NOISE, IT GOT LOUDER THE FASTER IT WENT, TOOK IT TO GARDEN STATE HONDA IN PASSAIC NU AND THEY SAID IT WAS THE WHEEL BEARINGS ON BOTH SIDES, WHEN I ASKED IF IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY THEY TOLD ME NO AND IT WILL COST $800 AND IT WOULD TAKE A WEEK BECAUSE THEY WOULD HAVE TOO ORDER THE PARTS. I WAS MOVING TO FLORIDA AND WHEN I GOT THERE I CALLED DELRAY BEACH HONDA AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE BEARINGS ARE COVERED UNDER THE DRIVE TRAIN WARRANTY, SO I TOOK THE CAR IN AND THEY REPLACED THE BEARINGS AND ALSO REPLACED A BAD DRIVER SIDE AXLE. THE BEARINGS AND AXLE REPLACEMENT AT 35,00 MILES IN MY OPINION IS UNACCEPTABLE CONSIDERING I DRIVE FOLLOW THE MAINTENANCE STRICTLY AND I AM VERY EASY ON THE CAR.
POWER STEERING FAILED MULTIPLE TIMES WHILE DRIVING, AND THE RADIO CUT OUT MANY TIMES AS WELL. WHEN THE POWER STEERING FAILED I VEERED INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND WAS UNABLE TO TURN THE WHEEL UNTIL IT RESTORED. FORTUNATELY I WAS GOING LESS THAN 30MPH, AND AVOIDED AN ACCIDENT. UPON RESEARCHING THIS PROBLEM I SEE THAT MANY OTHERS HAVE HAD THE EXACT SAME ISSUE. I AM TOO AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CAR AS I LIVE IN A BUSY DOWNTOWN AREA. THIS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING IN THE CITY WHILE TRAVELING STRAIGHT AS WELL AS TURNING.
DRIVING ON FREEWAY, A CAR WAS STOPPED AHEAD, HIT BRAKES, AUTOMATIC BRAKING SYSTEM DID NOT ENGAGE, HIT REAR OF CAR AHEAD DIRECTLY WITHOUT MUCH SLOWDOWN COMPARED TO EXPECTATION, POSSIBLY SKIDDING STRAIGHT, FOR WHAT SEEMED LIKE 2-3 SECONDS (LONG ENOUGH TO BE PUZZLED) OR FOREVER. HAVE NOT HAD AUTOMATIC BRAKING KICK IN A LOT OF TIMES IN PAST, NEVER HAD AN ACCIDENT LIKE THIS. NO FLUID LEAKAGES SEEN ON GROUND BEFORE OR AFTER ACCIDENT. CAR WAS DRIVABLE BUT TOTALED, NO INJURY REPORTED. TIRES 1 YEAR OLD. HAD JUST GOTTEN ON FREEWAY, WHICH HAD TURNED TO STRAIGHTAWAY, SO MIGHT HAVE BEEN GOING AROUND 50 WHEN BRAKING STARTED, MAYBE 15-20 ON IMPACT. PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG WENT OFF.
THE POWER STEERING CUTS OUT INTERMITTENTLY FOR SECONDS AT A TIME BEFORE COMING BACK ON WHILE DRIVING. NO SPECIFIC MIX OF SPEED OR TEMP SEEMS TO CAUSE IT, IT IS RANDOM. THE RADIO CUTS OUT EACH TIME AS WELL. I'M TOLD THIS IS A FAULTY EPS UNIT OR SENSOR AND IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH HONDA FITS. WHEN DRIVING STRAIGHT IT HAS NOT BEEN AN ISSUE BUT I'VE HEARD STORIES OF PEOPLES STEERING WHEELS LOCKING IN A TURNED POSITION AND THIS COULD OBVIOUSLY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.
THE BACK SEAT BELTS DO NOT LATCH FROM TIME TO TIME. MORE FREQUENTLY LATELY. I TOOK MY CAR TO HONDA TO HAVE IT CHECKED AND THEY SAID THAT THEY COULDN'T REPLICATE THE MALFUNCTION. BUT WHEN I INSPECTED THE BACK SEAT THE SEAT BELT WAS TUCKED UNDER THE SEAT AND DID NOT LOOK CHECKED. I HAVE 3 CHILDREN AND ONE OF THEM REQUIRES A CAR SEAT. IT CONTINUES TO MALFUNCTION AND THE CHILDREN CANNOT LATCH THE SEAT BELT TO BUCKLE THEMSELVES IN. I AM UNABLE TO TRANSPORT MY FAMILY IN MY CAR SAFETY AND CANNOT DRIVE IT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HONDA FIT. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 75 MPH, THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF A SECOND VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED AND METAL DEBRIS FLEW OUT. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED BACK AND SHOULDER INJURIES AND A LACERATED LEFT HAND. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS RECEIVED. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000. UPDATE NAME PER HONDA INFO. PCO

TAKATA RECALL FIRST RECALL 2/2016 SECOND RECALL 5/2016 STILL NOT FIXED
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HONDA FIT. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ENTER THE VEHICLE, THE POWER LOCKS FAILED TO DISENGAGE AND THE MANUAL LOCKS FAILED. ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE WAS CALLED AND UNLOCKED ALL THE DOORS EXCEPT THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR. THE FAILURE WORSENED TO THE POINT WHERE NONE OF THE DOORS COULD BE OPENED FROM THE INSIDE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ACTUATOR FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 105,000.
TAKATA RECALL- TOOK 2 YEARS TO GET A SOLUTION LETTER, ALL WHILE I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED DRIVING MY CAR. NO ALTERNATIVE TRANSPORTATION PROVIDED. UNABLE TO HAVE PASSENGERS IN FRONT SEAT. NO REFUNDS OFFERED OR PARTIAL REFUNDS. NO COMPENSATION. I WILL NO LONGER PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM A COMPANY THAT USES TAKATA AS A VENDOR.

ENGINE MISFIRING IN CYLINDER #2 WHILE IN MOTION AND STATIONARY ON AT LEAST CITY STREETS. EXCESS FUEL IN CATALYTIC CONVERTER CAUSES ENGINE TO REDUCE POWER OUTPUT. CAR BECOMES EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO ACCELERATE, POTENTIALLY CAUSING ACCIDENTS WHEN CROSSING THROUGH INTERSECTIONS. UPON ENGINE INSPECTION THE #2 SPARK PLUG UNTHREADED ITSELF AT LEAST THREE TURNS BEFORE DESTROYING REMAINING 9 THREADS AND DISLODGING FROM THE HEAD CATCHING INTO THE COIL PACK. CAR HAS APPROXIMATELY 60K MILES, SPARK PLUGS NEVER TOUCHED OUTSIDE OF HONDA FACTORY, AND SERVICE INTERVAL CALLS FOR SPARK PLUG REPLACEMENT IN THE 100K REGION.
TAKATA RECALL - IT HAS BEEN OVER SIX MONTHS SINCE I WAS PUT ON THE LIST FOR THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG RECALL. I CONTACTED HONDA RIGHT AWAY AS I HAD JUST HAD THE DRIVER SIDE ONE REPLACED THAT TOOK ALMOST 3 MONTHS. WE ONLY HAVE 1 VEHICLE IN OUR FAMILY AND MY FIT IS NOT BIG ENOUGH FOR MY FAMILY. I SPOKE WITH HONDA ABOUT GETTING A RENTAL AS WE CANNOT USE THE FRONT SEAT SAFELY AND WAS DENIED A RENTAL AND WHEN I ASKED FOR AN APPEAL I WAS JUST PUT ON HOLD AND TOLD NO. I FEEL THAT HONDA HAS HANDLE THIS PART OF THE RECALL POORLY AND IN MY CASE SEVERELY AFFECTED WHAT MY FAMILY AND I CAN DO. THEY CLAIM I HAVE 5 SEATS WHICH WOULD BE GREAT IF THE BACK SEAT HELD 2 REGULAR SIZED ADULTS LET ALONE 2 TEENAGERS AND AN ADULT.
TAKATA RECALL. 1 YEAR AGO I WAS INFORMED OF RECALL. LISTING STILL SAYS "NO KNOWN REMEDY". IS IT SAFE TO USE PASSENGER SEAT? IF NOT, I NEED ANOTHER CAR.
THE WIRING IN HONDA'S IS SOY BASED WHICH IS HIGHLY DESIRABLE TO RABBITS, MICE AND OTHER RODENTS. MICE ATE MY WIRING OVERNIGHT - CAR REFUSED TO START AND HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE MECHANIC AND REPAIRED. I'M UNDERSTANDING THAT THERE'S A LAWSUIT ABOUT THIS BUT I HAVEN'T HEARD ANYTHING. BASICALLY, THIS MEANS THE WIRING IS DEFECTIVE IN HONDA'S ATTEMPT TO GO GREEN. I'M A REALTOR AND NEED A DEPENDABLE CAR. I ALSO LIVE IN THE COUNTRY WHERE MICE ARE JUST A WAY OF LIFE, I WILL NOT KNOW WHETHER MY CAR WILL START OR NOT, OR IF SOMETHING WILL HAPPEN WHILE I'M DRIVING ALL DUE TO THIS ISSUE.
I WAS TRYING TO PARK THE HONDA TRYING TO ALIGIN THE CAR WITH THE CURB THE WHEEL LOCK UP ON ME TWO DIFFERENT TIME DOING THIS ALSO WHEN I WAS MAKING A SHARP TURN TO BACK UP AND TURN AROUND IT LOCK UP ON ME THE COMPUTER RADIO OF CAR ALSO WENT OUT SAID AN ERROR HAD OCCUR.

TAKATA RECALL; THEY NOTIFIED ME LAST MAY, THAT MY AUTO MIGHT BE COVERED BY THE RECALL. THUS FAR, THEY HAVE DONE NOTHING. I FEEL LIKE THEY SHOULD AT LEAST DISCONNECT THE AIR BAG FOR MY FAMILIES SAFETY, RATHER THAN US DRIVING A TIME BOMB. IF THEY CANNOT REPAIR THIS DEFECT, THEY SHOULD MAKE SOME FORM OF CORRECTION; EITHER PURCHASE THE AUTO , SUPPLY SOMETHING SAFE TO DRIVE. I HATE TO THINK THE GOVERNMENT DEPARTMENT THAT IS RESPONSIBLE FOR OUR TRANSPORTATION SAFETY, WOULD JUST CONTINUE TO LET AMERICAN CITIZENS BE INJURED, DISABLED, OR KILLED; WHEN WE PURCHASED AND PAID FOR IN GOOF FAITH TO BE A RELIABLE SAFE PRODUCT. I FEAR FOR MY FAMILY TO USE THE AUTO, BUT I CANNOT AFFORD TO JUST PARK IT, AND PURCHASE ANOTHER, TILL SOMEONE DOES SOMETHING. MIGHT I ALSO MENTION, THAT EVERYONE IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE, AND THE VALUE OF THE AUTO IS MINIMAL NOW. *TR
TAKATA RECALL I GOT THE RECALL EMAIL FROM HONDA IN MARCH OF 2016 SAYING THAT REPLACEMENT PARTS WOULD BE AVAILABLE IN THE SUMMER OF 2016. IT STATED THAT HONDA WOULD CONTACT ME WHEN PARTS FOR MY FIT WERE AVAILABLE. CONSIDERING THAT THE AIR BAGS DEPLOY AND SPRAY SHRAPNEL INTO PEOPLE'S FACES AND EYES, IT WOULD SEEM URGENT TO GET THESE REPLACEMENT AIRBAGS TO HONDA'S CUSTOMERS. TO DATE, I HAVE HEARD NOTHING FURTHER FROM HONDA. I CAN'T SELL THIS CAR BECAUSE IT IS A "RECALL" CAR AND SHOULD NOT DRIVE IT FOR YEARS AND YEARS WITH THE DEFECT/MAIMING AIRBAGS. WHY IT MY SAFETY NOT MORE IMPORTANT TO HONDA? WHY ISN'T THE GOVERNMENT FORCING THEM TO MAKE TIMELY REPAIRS?

UPON REALIZING DECLINING FUEL ECONOMY AND AN ENGINE MISFIRE WARNING I REPLACED MY PLUGS NOTING THAT CYLINDER 2 PLUG REQUIRED ALMOST NO REMOVAL TORQUE AND WAS VERY FOULED (PICTURES AVAILABLE). LESS THAN A 4 MONTHS LATER, ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, DIAGNOSED WITHIN MINUTES AS MISFIRE, BEFORE I COULD RETURN HOME, ENGINE EJECTED PLUG AND STARTED A FIRE IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. I WAS ABLE TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE WITH SNOW (AND 2 CANS OF DIET SODA) BEFORE THE CAR WAS CONSUMED BUT I SUFFERED BURNS ON THE HANDS FROM DRIPPING MELTED PLASTIC.
TAKATA RECALL DEAR SIR/MADAM, I SEND THIS MESSAGE BECAUSE I HAVE NO FURTHER INSTRUCTION ABOUT RECALL OF MY FIT SPORT 2011, WHOSE HAS TAKATA AIRBAG PROBLEM. INITIAL INSTRUCTION SHOWS REPLACEMENT PART WILL ARRIVE AROUND FALL 2016, BUT WE HAVE NO POSTAL/ELECTRIC NOTIFICATION ABOUT FURTHER ACTIONS. I CONTACTED THE NEAREST HONDA DEALER BUT THERE IS NO INFORMATION NEITHER (EVEN NO REPLY TO MY EMAIL). I HOPE SOMEONE COULD LET ME KNOW WHAT IS HAPPENING AND WHAT I CAN DO FOR THIS ISSUE. THANK YOU. TAKATA RECALL. RECEIVED NOTICE ON 7-2016 THAT PARTS WOULD BE AVAILABLE LATE SUMMER OR IN THE FALL. WE WOULD RECEIVE NOTICE WHEN THEY WERE AVAILABLE. AS OF 12-2-2016 HAVE NOT HEARD FROM ANYONE.
TAKATA RECALL. SECOND RECALL FOR AIRBAG ISSUE, NOW PASSENGER SIDE. NO NOTIFICATION OR ANY INFORMATION FROM HONDA ABOUT THE REPAIR OF THIS ISSUE. THIS HAS LIMITED THE USE OF THIS VEHICLE AS NO PASSENGERS CAN RIDE IN THE FRONT.

TAKATA RECALL: I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM HONDA ON 3/26/2016 INFORMING ME THAT MY AIRBAG WAS DEFECTIVE AND WAS RECALLED. THE LETTER STATED THEY WOULD SEND ME ANOTHER LETTER SOON INFORMING ME WHEN I COULD GET IT FIXED. I NEVER HEARD BACK FROM THEM, SO I CALLED THEM ON 7/18/2016. THEY SAID THAT I COULD GET IT FIXED BY LATE SEPTEMBER AT THE LATEST AND THAT I WOULD RECEIVE A SECOND LETTER INFORMING ME WHEN I COULD GET IT FIXED. NOW IT IS 11/2/2016 AND I STILL HAVE NOT HEARD ANYTHING FROM HONDA. IF MY CAR TRULY HAS A DANGEROUS AIRBAG THAT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED, I THINK THAT MORE THAN 7 MONTHS IS LONGER THAN I SHOULD HAVE TO WAIT TO GET IT FIXED. I WANT THEM TO FIX MY AIRBAG AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
I RECEIVED TWO NOTICES OF THE AIRBAG RECALL FOR MY HONDA FIT (2011) AND THE PART WAS SUPPOSED TO BE AVAILABLE BY LATE SUMMER/FALL. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT ONLINE FOR 8/27/16 ONLY TO FIND OUT WHEN I GOT THERE THAT MY LOCAL HONDA DEALERSHIP (HONDA OF OAKLAND) STILL DID NOT HAVE THE PART EVEN THOUGH I WAS ABLE TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT ONLINE SPECIFICALLY FOR THE RECALL. IT'S BEEN OVER 90 DAYS AND I STILL HAVE YET TO RECEIVE NOTICE FROM MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP REGARDING THIS RECALL. PLEASE REMEDY THIS SITUATION AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. I HAVE NEVER HAD TO WAIT SO LONG (OVER 4 MONTHS) FOR THE PART TO COME FOR A RECALL, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT INVOLVES LIFE/DEATH.

TAKATA INFLATORS. I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN MARCH 2016, AND WITHIN A DAY OR TWO CONTACTED MY LOCAL HONDA DEALER, MC GRATH HONDA, LOCATED AT 1411 E MAIN STREET IN ST CHARLES, IL. THEY SUPPOSEDLY PUT ME ON A WAITING LIST. I HAVE CALLED THEM 3 TIMES, AND EVEN STOPPED BY ONCE TO INQUIRE ON THE STATUS O MY VEHICLE. THEY HAVE NEVER CALLED ME BACK. EVEN ON MY DROP BY VISIT, I WAS NOT GIVEN AN ANSWER, JUST TOLD SOMEONE WOULD CALL ME BACK THE NEXT DAY...DID NOT HAPPEN. I HAVE NOW BEEN WAITING OVER 180 DAYS TO GET THE REPAIR. I HAVE EVEN CONTACTED THE HONDA DEALER SCHAUMBURG, IL, BUT HAVE HAD NO BETTER LUCK WITH THEM. IF THIS IS SUCH A SAFETY CONCERN, MAYBE THEY SHOULD CONCENTRATE ON FIXING THE CARS THAT ARE ALREADY ON THE ROAD. HELP ME GET MY CAR FIXED. TAKATA RECALL IT HAS BEEN OVER 60 DAYS SINCE FIRST CONTACTING MY HONDA DEALERSHIP (AUTOMATION HONDA OF VALENCIA) FOR A REPAIR APPOINTMENT. THEY HAVE NEITHER REMEDIED THE DEFECT IN MY VEHICLE, NOR MADE ANY ATTEMPT TO ASSURE MY SAFETY OF MY FAMILY. MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS TO CALL TO SPEAK WITH SOMEONE TO TRY AND RESOLVE THE SITUATION HAVE BEEN IN VAIN.
I BROUGHT MY CAR IN TO BE REPAIRED AND THEY NOTIFIED ME THAT IT WOULD BE AN EXTENDED TIME THAT MY CAR WOULD BE OUT. I EXPLAINED THAT I DRIVE UBER AND THAT WAS MY MAIN FORM OF INCOME, WHEN I COULDN'T DRIVE A REGULAR ENTERPRISE, I SPOKE TO HONDA AND DID THE SECOND OPTION OF PAYING FOR IT UPFRONT AND BEING REIMBURSED 6-8 WEEKS AFTER I FILED MY RECEIPTS. THIS WAS GOING ON IN APRIL-MAY AND IT IS NOW SEPTEMBER. I AM OUT $1200 AND DO NOT KNOW HOW TO GET THEM TO REIMBURSE ME MY MONEY. THEY HAVE BEEN DRAGGING THEIR FEET ALWAYS REQUESTING MORE INFORMATION AND WANTING MORE AND NEEDING ME TO EXPLAIN. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS AND I WANT TO TAKE LEGAL ACTION. SO TIRED OF BEING STEPPED ON BY THE BIG GUY.
TAKATA RECALL - NHTSA RECALL 16V-061 - NOTICE SENT FROM HONDA AUTOMOBILE DIVISION, AMERICAN HONDA MOTOR COMPANY, INC. IS THE HONDA DEALERSHIP OBLIGATED TO GIVE US A LOANER VEHICLE WHILE WE ARE WAITING?
I RECEIVED A LETTER THAT I WOULD RECEIVE A NOTICE TO REPLACE THE AIR BAG THIS SUMMER

TAKATA INFLATORS. I HAVE CALLED OCEAN HONDA MANY TIME TO SCHEDULE THIS RECALL. SERVICE DEPT. SAID PARTS ON ORDER AND WOULD BE PROCESS PER VEHICLE OWNERS REQUESTING REPAIR. I CALLED INITIALLY IN APRIL 2016 TO GET IN QUEUE; I CALL BACK IN JUNE 2016 AND THEY SAID I HADN'T CALLED BEFORE. VENTURA, CA IS A HIGH HUMIDITY LOCATION AND THUS SHOULD BE ONE OF THE FIRST TO GET REPAIRS. I'VE CALLED MULTIPLE TIME SINCE AND STILL "NO PARTS." MY DAUGHTER DRIVES THIS CAR WITH THIS POTENTIALLY LETHAL FLAW. I REQUEST NHTSA DO SOMETHING TO SPEED UP REMEDIATION AND ASSESS STIFF FINES FOR LACK OF COMPLIANCE. THANK YOU. *TR

TAKATA RECALL HONDA RECALL NOTICE ADVISES "PARTS NEEDED ...WILL BECOME AVAILABLE IN LATE SUMMER/FALL 2016..." AND "AVOID HAVING A PASSENGER SIT IN THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SEAT UNTIL THE RECALL REPAIR HAS BEEN PERFORMED." TO NOT BE ABLE TO SAFELY SEAT SOMEONE IN THE PASSENGER FRONT SEAT IS A HARDSHIP THAT REQUIRES AN IMMEDIATE REMEDY. I CALLED HONDA PACIFIC THIS MORNING AND WAS INFORMED THAT THEY WILL NOT BE PROVIDING ALTERNATE VEHICLES BECAUSE - UNLIKE THE DRIVER AIRBAG RECALL - THE CARS ARE STILL DRIVABLE. SO I BASICALLY HAVE TO SECURE ANOTHER VEHICLE AT MY OWN EXPENSE UNTIL HONDA CAN FIX THE PROBLEM. THIS SITUATION IS NOT ACCEPTABLE TO ME BUT I WAS TOLD THAT ALL I CAN DO IS MAKE A COMPLAINT. SO HERE IT IS. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME. *TR

TAKATA RECAL - GOT A NOTIFICATION FROM HONDA RE DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG RECALL. TOOK CAR INTO LOCAL HONDA DEALERSHIP 06/29/2016. WAS TOLD THAT ANOTHER RECALL ON THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG ALSO APPLIES TO MY CAR, AND THAT NEITHER AIR BAG IS AVAILABLE AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS TO BE PERFORMED. SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE ORDERED THE PARTS AND TOLD ME THAT I WILL BE NOTIFIED ONCE THEY ARRIVE, AND SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE TOLD ME THAT HE CAN NOT PROVIDE AN ESTIMATE AS TO HOW LONG IT WOULD TAKE FOR THE AIR BAGS TO ARRIVE. TODAY IS 07/27/2016, IT HAS BEEN 4 WEEKS SINCE MY FIRST VISIT TO THE LOCAL HONDA DEALERSHIP ABOUT THE AIR BAGS, AND STILL NO AIRBAGS AND NO DATE OF THEIR EXPECTED DELIVERY.
LOST POWER STEERING WHILE DRIVING ON THE HWY IN MY 2011 HONDA FIT WITH ABOUT 58,500 MILES DRIVEN.. HAD CAR PARKED IN THE SUN FOR SEVERAL HOURS WITH AMBIENT TEMPERATURE OF 92F, GOT IN AND DROVE HOME, HAD RADIO ON, A/C ON, GAS LEVEL CLOSE TO THE EMPTY INDICATOR ("E")., AND WITHIN 5 MINUTES OF DRIVING, WAS ON THE FREEWAY AT THAT TIME, THE ELECTRIC POWER ASSISTED STEERING FUNCTIONALITY FAILED. I ALMOST LOST CONTROL OF VEHICLE, STEERING WAS HEAVY AND DIFFICULT, NO LIGHTS ILLUMINATED TO INDICATE A PROBLEM, WAS ABLE TO STAY IN # 1 LANE TILL I REACHED HOME. WHEN I STARTED THE CAR THE FOLLOWING DAY, AND POWER ASSIST FUNCTIONALITY WAS MAGICALLY RESTORED. I VISITED THE LOCAL HONDA DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE CLAIMED THAT HE HAS NOT HEARD OF SUCH PROBLEMS WITH THE HONDA FIT, EVEN FOR EARLIER YEARS WHEN I ASKED SPECIFICALLY. SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE WAS NOT EVEN INTERESTED IN HOOKING UP ANY DEVICES TO SEE IF INFORMATION CAN BE RETRIEVED FROM THE COMPUTER IN THE CAR.

TAKATA RECALL: I IMMEDIATELY CONTACTED MY HONDA DEALER ABOUT THE DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG RECALL ON 3/24/15. OF COURSE I WANTED TO BE PUT ON A LIST FOR PRIORITY, EXPECTING FIRST COME FIRST SERVE, IN THE ABSENCE OF ANY OTHER KNOWN ORDERLY APPROACH TO THIS NIGHTMARISH ORDEAL. HOWEVER WHEN I CONTACTED THE LOCAL DEALER AND THE NATIONAL HONDA HOTLINE 6/21/6 FOR AN UPDATE, NEITHER COULD PROVIDE ANY NEW INSIGHT WHATSOEVER AFTER 3 MONTHS HAD PASSED. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. A MANUFACTURER CAN PROVIDE SOME AT LEAST REMOTELY ACCURATE DELIVERY ESTIMATE UPDATE AND DISSEMINATE THAT INFO. ALSO, SOMEONE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ACQUIRING THAT INFO, COORDINATING WITH OTHER ENTITIES AND DISSEMINATING THAT INFO. RATHER IMPORTANT WITH LIVES AT RISK. IF THESE PARTS ACTUALLY START TO TRICKLE IN, WE, AND EVERYONE INVOLVED, NEEDS TO KNOW TIME FRAMES, AND IF THERE IS A SYSTEM OF SOME SORT IN PLACE ,SO THAT DEALERS CAN PROVIDE A BETTER ANSWER THAN "I DON'T KNOW", AND THE CUSTOMER CAN KNOW THAT THEY HAVEN'T "FALLEN THRU THE CRACKS" WHICH IS PRETTY COMMON IN THE REAL WORLD. THANKS

NHTSA RECALL 16V-061 HONDA CAMPAIGN NUMBER JY1 I'VE BEEN TRYING TO DEAL WITH A LOCAL DEALER BUT THEY WILL NOT RESPOND TO MY MESSAGES
TAKATA RECALL ITHACA CARSHARE IS A SMALL NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION SERVING 1,400 COMMUNITY MEMBERS WITH 25 VEHICLES AVAILABLE FOR SELF-SERVE RESERVATIONS ON A 24/7 BASIS. SIX OF THESE VEHICLES ARE HONDA FITS AFFECTED BY THE TAKATA RECALL. FOR THE SAFETY OF OUR MEMBERS AND LIABILITY PURPOSES, WE REMOVED THESE VEHICLES FROM SERVICE ON APRIL 4, 2016. WE HAVE SPOKEN WITH BOTH OUR LOCAL HONDA DEALER AND HONDA CORPORATE MULTIPLE TIMES, AND THUS FAR BOTH HAVE REFUSED TO PROVIDE ANY COMPENSATION FOR THE LOSS OF REVENUE CAUSED BY THESE VEHICLES BEING UNSAFE TO DRIVE. EACH VEHICLE REQUIRES INSTALLATION OF SPECIALTY HARDWARE FOR OUR USE, SO SUBSTITUTE VEHICLES PROVIDED BY HONDA (WHICH HAVE NOT BEEN OFFERED) ARE NOT AN OPTION FOR US. AS EACH DAY GOES BY, WE LOSE $250-300 IN REVENUE, SO AS OF THIS WRITING WE HAVE LOST OVER $3,000. AS A SMALL NON-PROFIT, THIS RECALL HAS A HUGE EFFECT ON OUR BUDGET. WE EXPECT THAT OUR LOSSES WILL TOTAL AT LEAST $10,000, IF NOT MORE. FAILURE OF HONDA TO PROVIDE COMPENSATION FOR THIS LOSS IS BOTH INCONVENIENT AND UNACCEPTABLE. WE CONTINUE TO SEEK COMPENSATION FOR THIS LOSS AND REQUEST ANY ASSISTANCE YOU MAY OFFER ON OUR BEHALF.
TAKATA RECALL. HONDA TRIED TO INCREASES MY EXPOSURE BY SENDING ME TO CAR RENTAL BUSINESS WHICH WILLINGLY PLACES A $100 HOLD ON MY VISA AND THEN INCREASES MY EXPOSURE TO COST VIA "LOSS OF SERVICE". I DID NOT ACCEPT. I CALLED THE DEALER "SCOTT ROBINSON HONDA", TORRANCE, CA AND HONDA CORPORATE 800-999-1009 BOTH EXT. 4 AND 7 TO NO AVAIL. I REQUESTED MANAGEMENT AT HONDA CORPORATE CALL ME AS I NEEDED TO SPEAK WITH A PERSON WHO HAD AUTHORITY ON 04/06/2016. HONDA CORPORATE HAS NOT RETURNED MY CALL AS OF TODAY 04/09/2016. OUR 2011 HONDA FIT SITS IN THE DRIVEWAY SINCE 03/31/2016 WITH MILEAGE STOPPED AT 23,730, WAITING FOR PARTS TO ADDRESS TAKATA RECALL. MY REQUEST IS HONDA SUPPLY A HONDA CAR AT ZERO COST AND EXPOSURE TO THIS CUSTOMER!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HONDA FIT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DOORS LOCKED AND UNLOCKED AUTOMATICALLY WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE REAR AND DRIVER SIDE DOOR LATCHES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,000.
TAKATA RECALL I WAS NOTIFIED THAT MY VEHICLE HAD A RECALL ON THE DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG AND NOT TO DRIVE IT. I DO NOT BELIEVE HONDA WILL BE ABLE TO REMEDY THIS DEFECT WITHIN A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME. I WAS TOLD THE PARTS MAY BE AVALIABLE IN LATE SUMMER OF 2016. THEY HAVE OFFERED A RENTAL, WITHOUT THE OPTIONAL INSURANCE COVERAGE, BUT I WOULD PREFER IF THEY OFFERED A BUY BACK ON THE VEHICLE.
TAKATA RECALL HONDA IS TELLING ME THAT IT MAY BE A MONTH OR MORE BEFORE THEY WILL REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE PART. THEY VERIFIED THAT MY VIN NUMBER SHOWS MY CAR IS ONE OF THE RECALLED VEHICLES. I ASKED ABOUT A REPLACEMENT CAR, AND THEY SAID I WOULD HAVE TO RENT A CAR ON MY OWN, FOR A MONTH OR MORE, FILL OUT A REQUEST AND THEY MIGHT COVER SOME OF THE COST. I WORK APPROX. 18 MILES FROM HOME. I DEPEND ON MY CAR. EIGHT DEATHS AND OVER 100 INJURIES HAVE OCCURRED IN THE US. THEY WON'T EVEN RETURN MY CALL FOR A BUSINESS DAY OR TWO. I HAVE MISSED WORK TODAY. I WAS IN AN ACCIDENT IN 2011, THE OTHER DRIVER WAS COMPLETELY AT FAULT, AND MY AIRBAGS DEPLOYED, AND MY CAR WAS TOTALED. THAT IS WHEN I BOUGHT MY PRESENT CAR. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE MY CAR WITHOUT THE REPAIR, AND I CAN'T AFFORD TO RENT A CAR FOR OVER A MONTH SO I CAN CONTINUE TO WORK. IS THERE ANY CHANCE THE NHTSA WILL ALLOW THE DEALERSHIP TO DEACTIVATE THE AIRBAGS IN MY CAR UNTIL THEY CAN BE REPAIRED? CAN THEY BE DEACTIVATED? I WOULD RATHER DRIVE WITHOUT AIRBAGS, AND USING SAFETY BELTS,THAN WITH THE THREAT OF BEING HIT BY SHRAPNEL FROM MY AIRBAG.
RECENTLY MY 2011 HONDA FIT HAS BEEN HAVING INTERMITTENT POWER STEERING FAILURES. IT HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES IN ONE WEEK TO DATE WHERE I HAVE STARTED THE CAR TO DRIVE TO WORK IN THE MORNING AND THE STEERING IS VERY HEAVY FOR A FEW SECONDS LIKE AN OLD MANUAL STEERING CAR. THE POWER STEERING KICKED BACK IN ONCE AFTER CONTINUING TO DRIVE THE CAR AND ON THE OTHER TWO OCCASIONS AFTER STOPPING THE CAR AND RESTARTING IT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HONDA FIT. AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED INDEPENDENTLY. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF A PARKED VEHICLE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE PASSENGER'S FOREHEAD ENCOUNTERED THE SUN VISOR AND SUSTAINED A CUT. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE NECK. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS NOT RECEIVED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,008.
TODAY 06/08/2015 I GOT MY CAR BACK FROM MY LOCAL MECHANIC AFTER MAJOR SERVICE @93000 MILES. HE TOLD ME 3 OUT OF 4 SPARK PLUGS IN THE ENGINE WERE LOOSE(THEY WERE ONLY HAND-TIGHT): ONE WAS SECURED, ONE WAS ALMOST OUT OF THE ENGINE AND BLACKED OUT, AND TWO OF THEM WERE HALF WAY IN. THAT CORRELATED AN INCIDENCE AUGUST 2014 WHEN I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY. MY HONDA FIT SUDDENLY LOST POWER TO NO MORE THAN 20MPH. I GOT IT TOWED TO DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME ONE OF THE SPARK PLUG WAS COMPLETELY BLOWN OUT OF THE ENGINE, ALONG WITH THE IGNITION COIL. THE MILEAGE BACK THEN WAS ABOUT 80,000 AND I NEVER HAD ANY MAJOR SERVICE NOR EVEN OPENING UP THE ENGINE BLOCK BY ANYONE. SPARK PLUG SERVICE IS 100,000 MILE INTERVAL AND I DID ONLY OIL CHANGE IN LAST 3 YEARS BEFORE THE INCIDENCE. DEALER (DIAMOND HONDA, CITY OF INDUSTRY, CA) HAD THE ENGINE HEAD RE-THREADED AND AGREED TO PAY 70% OF THE TOTAL COST. HOWEVER I FOUND OUT TODAY THAT APPARENTLY ALL SPARK PLUGS WERE LOOSE EVEN WHEN THE CAR LEFT THE FACTORY! THE DEALER DID NOT TAKE A CLOSE LOOK WHEN THEY SERVICED IT LAST YEAR. THAT IS WHY ONE PLUG IS STILL INTACTED AND SECURED IN THE HEAD WHILE OTHER 3 WERE ONLY HAND-TIGHTEN. PLEASE INVESTIGATE OR INFORM OTHER FIT OWNER THAT THIS YEAR OR PROBABLY OTHER YEAR FITS HAVE HAND-TIGHTEN SPARK PLUGS THAT CAN LEAD TO SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER. MY INCIDENCE LAST YEAR ALMOST GOT ME INTO SERIOUS ACCIDENT WHILE I WAS ON CALIFORNIA CRAZY HIGHWAY.
DAUGHTER DRIVING 15 MILES AN HOUR AND WINDSHIELD CRACKED. THIS IS THE THIRD VEHICLE I HAVE OWNED THAT THE WINDSHIELD JUST BEGINS TO CRACK OR EXPLODES ON HONDA VEHICLES. I HAVE CALLED AN ASKED WHY THIS IS HAPPENING TO THEIR VEHICLES AND THEY CAN NOT ANSWER. I HAVE ALSO HAD ROLL OVERS IN A HONDA CIVIC AND NO AIRBAGS EXPLODED, HAVE A HONDA PILOT THAT HIT A TRUCK TIRE GOING 70 MILES AN HOUR AND RIPPED OUT THE WHOLE FRONT AND SIDE OF THE CAR AND NO AIR BAG EXPLODED. I HAVE HAD THREE SEPARATE CARS THAT HAVE FRONT, BACK AND SIDE WINDSHIELDS EXPLODE. SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THESE CARS, AND WHEN YOU CONTACT HONDA THEY SAY OH WELL. WELL, THIS WILL BE THE LAST HONDA I BUY. THEY ARE DANGEROUS CARS AND NEED TO BE CHECKED OUT. *TR
I HYDROPLANED, GOING 10 MPH UNDER THE SPEED LIMIT, HIT EVERY QUARTER PANEL ALONG THE GUARDRAIL (INCLUDING A HEAD-ON COLLISION WITH THE GUARD RAIL), AND OUT OF 10 AIRBAGS, NOT ONE DEPLOYED. I FELT LIKE I WAS BOUNCED AROUND THE CAR LIKE A RAG DOLL (YES, I WAS WEARING MY SEATBELT). CAR WAS TOTALED, I SUSTAINED SHOULDER, NECK, AND WRIST INJURIES, BUT WAS SHOCKED THAT AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. *TR
PASSENGER WINDSHIELD EXPLODED INTERNALLY WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AT 75MPH THE FIRST TIME. CALLED HONDA AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NO ISSUE WITH IT. I HAD THE INSURANCE COMPANY REPLACE IT AT THAT TIME. NOW, AGAIN THIS MORNING, THE SAME WINDOW SHATTERED AGAIN INTERNALLY ON THE VEHICLE WHILE IT WAS SITTING IN OUR DRIVEWAY--ALL WINDOWS ARE ROLLED UP AND --KABOOM--IT EXPLODED. SOMETHING IS SERIOUSLY WRONG WITH THIS. ANY PASSENGER COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED- I AM SHOCKED THAT HONDA HAS NOT RECALLED THIS FOR THIS MODEL GIVEN THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE BIG ON SAFETY. THE FIRST TIME IT WAS REPLACED WAS 11/21/2012 AND AGAIN TODAY 12 MONTHS AND TWO WEEKS LATER--IT HAPPENED AGAIN. *TR
THE STEERING BECOMES REALLY HEAVY OVER SPEEDS OF 50 AND THERE IS NO INDICATOR SHOWING ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE SYSTEM. *TR
THE CAR IN FRONT STOPPED ON THE HIGHWAY BECAUSE OF ANOTHER DRIVER SWERVING TO EXIT. THIS CAUSED MY CAR TO REAR-END THE VEHICLE THAT WAS STOPPED DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF ME. MY CAR SUFFERED SEVERE DAMAGE TO THE FRONT END. THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY!! UPON LOOKING AT THE DAMAGE AFTER THE ACCIDENT, YOU COULD SEE THAT BOTH AIRBAG SENSORS WERE PHYSICALLY PUSHED BACK INTO THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THEY WERE BOTH CLEARLY HIT, YET NEITHER DEPLOYED THE AIRBAGS. THANKFULLY NO ONE WAS INJURED. I WAS EXTREMELY LUCKY. WITH THAT SAID, WHAT GOOD ARE AIRBAGS IF THEY DON'T DEPLOY? ESPECIALLY IN A SEVERE FRONT-END COLLISION? MAKES NO SENSE TO ME. *TR
AFTER APPLYING THE BRAKES HARD ENOUGH FOR THE ANTI-LOCKING BRAKING SYSTEM (ABS) TO ENGAGE WHICH BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO A FULL STOP, THE FRONT DISC BRAKES DID NOT IMMEDIATELY RELEASE UPON TAKING THE FOOT OFF THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE BRAKES REMAINED FULLY ENGAGED UNTIL THE ACCELERATOR WAS DEPRESSED (ABOUT 1/2 ACCELERATOR THROW) WHICH WAS SUFFICIENT TO OVERCOME THE ENGAGED BRAKES AND THE VEHICLE STARTED TO ROLL. AT THIS TIME, A "POPPING" SOUND WAS HEARD SIMULTANEOUSLY AS THE FRONT BRAKES RELEASED. THE SOUND AND THE IMMEDIATE RELEASE OF THE BRAKES WAS SIMILAR TO THAT OF WHEN A VEHICLE IS MOVED FOR THE FIRST TIME AFTER IT HAS BEEN SITTING FOR SOME TIME (DAYS OR WEEKS) IN A WET/HUMID CLIMATE AND A RUST BUILD UP HAS OCCURRED IN AND AROUND THE BRAKE PADS OR DRUMS. HIGHWAY CONDITIONS AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT WERE SUNNY AND DRY. AMBIENT AIR TEMPERATURE WAS ABOUT 90 DEGREES. THE TERRAIN WAS FLAT, AND THE VEHICLE HAD ONLY BEEN DRIVEN FOR APPROXIMATELY 10 MINUTES WITH LIGHT BRAKING AT THE OCCASIONAL RED LIGHT. THIS INCIDENT OCCURRED ON A MAIN THOROUGHFARE IN RELATIVE HEAVY TRAFFIC IN ORDER TO AVOID A VEHICLE WHO UNEXPECTEDLY ENTERED THE HIGHWAY AT A SLOW SPEED . THE SUBSEQUENT DELAY IN GETTING MY VEHICLE TO MOVE ALMOST RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT WHERE VEHICLES APPROACHING FROM BEHIND DID NOT EXPECT TO FIND A STOPPED VEHICLE IN THE ROAD AND WERE FORCED TO STOP SUDDENLY THEMSELVES. *TR
AFTER DRIVING 20 MILES THROUGH TRAFFIC WITH 1/2 TANK GAS AND RADIATOR TEMPERATURE OK, NO WARNING LIGHTS SHOWING: TURNED RIGHT AT INTERSECTION AND LOST ALL ENGINE POWER (NO THROTTLE RESPONSE), THEN ALL LIGHTS (HEADLIGHTS AND DASH). STEERING BECAME STIFF. WE THINK CD PLAYER STAYED ON. LUCKILY NO NEARBY TRAFFIC AND ENOUGH MOMENTUM TO PULL INTO NEARBY PARKING LOT. PUT CAR IN PARK, TURNED KEY OFF AND REMOVED IT. REPLACED KEY AND CAR STARTED WITH LIGHTS OK. WE'VE HAD THIS CAR FOR 1500 MILES AND THIS IS THE FIRST TIME IT'S DONE THIS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HONDA FIT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER PARKING THE VEHICLE WITH THE GEAR IN PARK, THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED SUDDEN ACCELERATION. THE VEHICLE JUMPED THE CURB AND CRASHED INTO A BUILDING. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE ENTIRE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE WAS BADLY DAMAGED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 14,500. ..UPDATED 09/12/12 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED AND HONDA DID NOT FIND ANY REASON THE SUDDEN ACCELERATION. UPDATED 09/12/2012 *JS
I SLAMMED ON BRAKES TO AVOID A PEDESTRIAN AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALMOST TO THE FLOOR AND MY FOOT HIT THE ACCELERATOR -- THE CAR STOPPED WITH ENGINE RACING, NARROWLY MISSING THE PEDESTRIAN. THIS HITTING-THE-ACCELERATOR-WHEN-BRAKING HAS HAPPEN TWICE SINCE. DEALER SAYS THE BRAKES ARE OPERATING NORMALLY. TO ME, IT SEEMS A DESIGN FAULT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HONDA FIT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHENEVER THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT BELT WAS BUCKLED, IT WOULD CONSTANTLY TIGHTEN AROUND THE PASSENGER SEATED IN THAT SEAT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHERE THE SEAT BELT ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED ON TWO DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 8,000.
THE A/C CONDENSER IS EXTREMELY EXPOSED TO DAMAGE FROM ROAD DEBRIS. THERE ARE "VENTS" WHICH LIE BELOW THE LICENSE PLATE HOLDER NEAR THE ROAD, WIDE ENOUGH TO FIT A FIST AND THE LENGTH OF THE FRONT BUMPER. THIS ALLOWS ALL KINDS OF ROAD DEBRIS TO ENTER AND HIT THE A/C CONDENSER ONLY INCHES BEHIND THE OPENING. THIS DAMAGE HAS BEEN REPORTED ON A NUMBER OF WEBSITES FROM MODEL YEAR 2008 TO 2011. A SIMILAR ISSUE HAS ALSO BEEN REPORTED IN A NUMBER OF OTHER HONDA CAR MODELS, INCLUDING THE CR-V AND THE ODYSSEY, WHICH RESULTED IN A SUCCESSFUL CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. HONDA, HOWEVER, STILL DOES NOT PROVIDE A GRILL OR OTHER FORM OF PROTECTION DESPITE THE REPORTED PROBLEM AND DOES NOT COVER THE REPAIRS WITH THEIR BUMPER TO BUMPER OR HONDA CARE WARRANTIES. *TR

I PURCHASED MY SECOND HONDA AUTOMOBILE THREE MONTHS AGO: A BRAND NEW 2011 HONDA FIT WITH LESS THAN 10 MILES ON IT. JUST DROVE TO DALLAS TO SEE MY GRANDKIDS AND COMING BACK, THE AIR CONDITIONING WENT OUT. I TOOK IT INTO DON CARLTON HONDA THIS MORNING - AND THEY ARE TELLING ME THAT A "ROCK MUST HAVE GONE THROUGH THE GRILL" AND PUNCTURED A HOLE IN THE COMPRESSOR - THE COST? $780!!! NOW, AFTER RESEARCHING ON THE INTERNET, I FIND THAT THIS HAS BEEN A COMPLAINT SINCE 2009. I HESITATE TO CALL THIS A "RACKET" BUT HELLO???? I EVEN DISCOVERED THAT SOME PEOPLE HAVE TO RIG A SCREEN TO PREVENT THE ROCKS FROM COMING INTO THE ENGINE. THIS IS A DEFECT IN THE DESIGN THAT NEEDS TO BE FIXED. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW MANY TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS HAVE BEEN ISSUED REGARDING THIS DEFECT. TO HAVE A 3 MONTH OLD 2011 AUTOMOBILE HAVE TO HAVE AIR CONDITIONING REPLACEMENT IS OUTRAGEOUS. I PURCHASED A BRAND NEW HONDA SO THAT I WOULD NOT HAVE REPAIR BILLS ON MY LIMITED INCOME. *TR
