Engine light came on, then started flashing. Needed repaired according to dealership. Repairs made. Engine started sputtering and shaking the van again. Engine light flashing again. Took the van in again for another repair. The van intermittently speeds up when slowing down or breaking. Took the van back in again to the dealership. They found nothing wrong. However, while at the dealership another customer had the EXACT complaints. Intermittent speeding up of the van. Looked online to find that this is an issue with the Honda Odyssey. ECO light comes on when coming to a stop and the RPMs go up then drastically drop. Need to apply breaks hard. The van continues to ride rough. Also while in a construction zone and slowing down, van started to speed up despite me trying to slow down. The engine has already had three repairs done. Each time something new and problem never fixed. Actually seems to be getting worse.
The Honda Odyssey engine turns off while driving. My wife was driving with four children in the car and the engine died causing loss of power steering and brakes. This places all family members at serious risk of injury or death. Took the vehicle to three different service garages and none were able to reproduce the incident or determine a reason. One service garage was a certified HONDA Dealer and Service Center. They also were unable to determine the cause after having the vehicle for a significant period of time. They wanted to start replacing parts at a very high cost but indicated that there was no assurance it would fix the problems. Took the vehicle to another service garage where they said the parts the dealer wanted to replace were working fine and it would not solve the problem. Drove the car home and the engine failed again while I was driving on a highway. I also lost all power to the steering and brakes. The vehicle is available for inspection. I will not let my wife or children ride in the vehicle. It is not safe. There were no warnings prior to the failure. All service garages indicate there are no codes that are generated when they run the computer scans.
BRAKE PEDAL IS SOFT AND GOES ALMOST TO THE FLOOR. HAVE HAD THE MASTER CYLINDER, BRAKE PADS, AND CALIPERS REPLACED AT DAVID MCDAVID IN 2018. BRAKE PEDAL REMAINED SOFT AND GOES ALMOST TO THE FLOOR. HAD MASTER CYLINDER REPLACED AGAIN IN 2021 AT A PRIVATE FACILITY AND BRAKE PEDAL IS STILL NOT FIRM AS IT SHOULD BE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AT VEHICLE START-UP, THERE WAS A HUMMING AND SQUEAKING SOUND COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SOUND VOLUME DECREASED AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS WARMED UP HOWEVER, THE SOUND CAME BACK LOUDER WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS ACCELERATING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS ALSO A RATTLING SOUND COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE SOUND VOLUME HAD INCREASED OVER TIME. THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH A CERTIFIED MECHANIC WHO INFORMED HIM THAT THE ISSUE WAS CAUSED TIMING BELT TENSIONER PULLEY AND WATER PUMP PULLEY BEING POORLY MADE. THE MECHANIC SUGGESTED THAT THE PARTS BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,440.
THE PAINT IS PEELING THERE IS A XTENED WARRANTY FOR OTHER HONDA VEHICLES SO THEY'RE CLAIMING THAT MINE DOESN'T FULL UNDER WARRANTY EVEN THOUGH IT'S THE SAME AS OTHER HONDA VEHICLES
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN HE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE USED, THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE PISTON RING SEAT IN THE ENGINE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO SEVERAL INDEPENDENT MECHANICS FOR WHAT HE THOUGHT WAS A SIMPLE REPAIR. THE REPAIR CONSISTED OF REPLACING THE SPARK PLUGS, THE BATTERY, AND IGNITION COILS. THE FAILURE RECURRED WITH THE RPM FLUCTUATING AND VEHICLE WOULD LOSE POWER WHILE ACCELERATING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO RICHFIELD BLOOMINGTON HONDA (501 W 77TH ST, RICHFIELD, MN 55423, (612) 866-8832) AND WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A MISFIRE IN CYLINDER #1. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT CYLINDERS #1 THROUGH #3 NEEDED NEW PISTON RINGS. THE CONTACT WAS QUOTED A REPAIR COST OF OVER $3,000. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT AFTER INVESTIGATING THE ISSUE, THEY WOULD NOT PROVIDE ANY SUPPORT TO HAVE THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 111,000.
EITHER THE BRAKE ROTORS WARP OR THE PADS DEPOSIT SOMETHING ONTO THE ROTORS. THE CAR HABITUALLY GOES THROUGH BRAKES, A SINGLE LONG DESCENT WILL CAUSE BRAND NEW BRAKES TO JUTTER BACK AND FORTH VIOLENTLY, WHICH IS UNNERVING FEELS LIKE IT DECREASES BRAKE EFFECTIVENESS. EVEN IN LIGHT USE THE ROTORS HAVE TO BE SURFACED AND PADS ARE REPLACE TWICE A YEAR. THIS IS MENTIONED VERY FREQUENTLY ONLINE IN FORUMS, AND WHEN BROUGHT UP TO A DEALERSHIP THEY DENY ANY CHRONIC BRAKE PROBLEMS. THEY INSIST DRIVERS MUST BE "RIDING THE BRAKES".
PURCHASED VEHICLE FROM DEALERSHIP. ACCORDING TO PAPERWORK, VEHICLE HAS CLEAN TITLE. WHEN I TRY TO INSURE VEHICLE APPARENTLY VEHICLE IS DEEMED "UNSAFE" BECAUSE IT SUFFERED SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE AND NEEDS A REBUILT TITLE. DEALERSHIP NEVER MADE ME AWARE THE VEHICLE HAD 3 ACCIDENTS. AFTER AGREEING TO BUY BACK VEHICLE FROM ME, THEY SAID THEY WOULD NO LONGER ACCEPT IT.
2011 HONDA ODYSSEY. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO REAR SEATING SAFETY RECALLS. *LD *JS
REAR SEAT PASSENGER OF UBER VEHICLE STRUCK BY ANOTHER VEHICLE IN HIGH IMPACT COLLISION WOUND UP ON FLOOR OF VEHICLE. SHE BELIEVES SHE ENGAGED THE SEAT BELT PRIOR TO COLLISION & QUESTIONS WHY SHE WAS THROWN ON TO FLOOR OF VEHICLE. BOTH VEHICLES IN MOTION. OTHER VEHICLE RAN A STOP SIGN AT 60 MPH ON CITY STREET.
REPLACED THE SPARK PLUGS FOR 2ND TIME IN ABOUT 5000 MILES OR LESS, MANY ERROR CODES I CANT ERASE.BURNING OIL, HONDA SAYS IT NEEDS PISTON RING REPLACEMENT, BUT THEY SAID IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY I CALLED HONDA ANOTHER LOCATION THEY SAID THE DELIVERY DATE IS 12/3/2010, BUT THEY NEVER RELEASED THE SALE DATE. THEY HAVE GIVEN ME ESTIMATES OF $4,000 TO REPLACE THE MOTOR OR $2,000 TO FIX IT, BUT I BELIEVE IT IS STILL UNDER THE 8-YEAR WARRANTY PERIOD. I HAVE LOST BUSINESS NOW BECAUSE I DO NOT HAVE A VEHICLE I CAN USE FOR MY TAXI/SHUTTLE BUSINESS. I DO NOT KNOW IF I SHOULD THROW A USED MOTOR FROM JUNK YARD IN THERE. HOW DO I KNOW THAT HONDA IS NOT TRYING TO SCAM ME OVER ON THE WARRANTY? THIS ISSUE ONLY SAYS IT HAS AFFECTED ABOUT 1.5 MILLION VEHICLES AND HONDA HAS SETTLED A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT OVER IT. ALSO, IT IS A RECENT $8,000 PURCHASE FOR ME FROM A USED CAR DEALER AND NOW I CANT USE THE VAN AFTER ONLY 3 MONTHS. THIS CAR DEALER WILL NOT HELP ME AT ALL OR REPLY TO MY MESSAGES.
NOV OF 2016 TOOK MY 2011 HONDA ODYSSEY INTO THE DEALERSHIP FOR A SHUDDER BETWEEN 40-45 MPH. SERVICE TECH STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FLUID NEEDS TO BE DRAINED PER HONDA PROCEDURE. FLUIDS WERE DRAINED AND SHUDDER STOPPED. MAY 2018 TOOK BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP SAME PROBLEM AS BEFORE IN 2016 AT THIS TIME SERIVCE TECH STATES THAT MY FRONT BRAKE CALIPER, LEFT FRONT DRIVE SHAFT NEED REPLACING. THOSE ITEMS WERE REPLACED. THEN OCT 2019 BACK AT THE SAME DEALERSHIP AGAIN WITH THE SHUDDER AT 40-45 MPH. THE SERICE TECH NOW STATES THAT MY TRANSMISSION FLUID NEEDS TO BE CHANGED AGAIN PER HONDA PROCEDURE THAT ITS DARK AND DIRTY. AFTER LOOKING AT TRANSMISSION FLUID ITS NOT DARK OR DIRTY. STILL TRANSPARENT AND NO BURNT SMELL OF BAD FLUID. AFTER RESEARCHING THESE YEAR MODEL VANS ARE BIG ON TORQUE CONVERTER PROBLEMS. SERVICE TECH PERFOMED A SNAP SHOT AND VERIFIRED TORQUE CONVERTER JUDDER BUT ARE NOT WANTING TO FIX THE PROBLEM. SOFTWARE HAS BEEN UPDATED AND STILL HAVING SAME ISSUE WITH SHUDDER. HONDA DECLINES TO ACCEPT THE ISSUE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE DRIVING, THE ENGINE MISFIRED AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO DECELERATE AND ACCELERATE IMPROPERLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN UNKNOWN DEALER WHERE THE SPARK PLUGS WERE REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE PISTON RINGS WERE FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 109,000.
THE VAN'S AC SYSTEM IS MALFUNCTIONING. THE AIR CONDITIONING WILL BLOW COLD AIR ON THEN PASSENGER SIDE AND WARM AIR IN THE DRIVER SIDE AND REAR. THIS IS THE SECOND ODYSSEY THAT HAS HAD THE SAME ISSUE. ON MAY 7, 2019, WE TOOK THE VEHICLE IN TO A NON-HONDA SHOP FOR AN AC PERFORMANCE CHECK AND PAID FOR AN EVACUATION AND RECHARGE. AT THE SAME TIME A DYE WAS PLACED TO IDENTIFY ANY LEAKAGE SHOULD IT OCCUR AGAIN. THE AC WORKED FINE FOR TWO MONTHS. ON JULY 9, 2019, THE UNIT STARTED BLOWING HOT AIR AGAIN. WHEN WE TOOK IT BACK TO THE SHOP, THE DYE SHOWED UP ON THE AC CONDENSER. IT WAS RECOMMENDED THAT WE REPLACE IT. A SEARCH ON THE ISSUE SEEMS THAT SEVERAL OTHER OWNERS ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE WITH THEIR VEHICLES. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A DESIGN DEFECT. HONDA NEEDS TO FIX THIS DESIGN FLAW FOR ITS CUSTOMERS BY EITHER SHIELD THE CONDENSER OR MOVE IT TO A LOCATION LESS SUSCEPTIBLE TO ROAD DEBRIS IMPACT. THERE IS NO JUSTIFICATION FOR EXPOSING THIS VITAL PART. WHEN LIVING IN GEORGIA IN TRIPLE DIGIT HEAT, THIS CAN QUICKLY BECOME A SAFETY ISSUE.
SLIDING DOOR ON THE LEFT SIDE WOULD NOT OPEN BY REMOTE OR MANUAL. SO BACK PASSENGER HAVE ONLY ONE ACCESS DOOR. I THINK THIS POSES AS A SAFETY ISSUE IN CASE OF EMERGENCY THAT WE NEED TO VACATE THE VEHICLE RIGHT AWAY.
WHILE AT LOW SPEEDS, THERE IS A CLICKING NOISE COMING FROM THE STEERING WHEELS. THIS OCCURS WHILE STATIONARY AND MOVING AT SLOWER SPEEDS.
THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON PERIODICALLY, I GET OIL CHANGE STATION TO TURN IT OFF. THAT USUALLY LAST FOR SEVERAL MONTHS. THEN USUALLY AT A GASOLINE FILL UP, WHEN THEY PUT GAS CAP BACK ON, I CRANK UP, AND THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR COMES ON AGAIN! THEY TELL ME THAT IT IS AN OXYGEN SENSOR CODE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, THE ENTIRE DRIVER'S SEAT MOVED BACKWARDS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO PERFORMANCE KINGS HONDA (4521 KINGS WATER DR, CINCINNATI, OH 45249) WHERE THEY INSERTED THE SEAT BOLTS BACK INTO THE TRACK. THE DEALER DETERMINED THAT THE ENTIRE SEAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
LOW BEAM HEAD LIGHTS ARE REALLY LOW, MAKING IT HARD TO SEE AT NIGHT. RESEARCHING ONLINE LOOKS LIKE MANY HONDA OWNERS ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE. HIGH BEAMS ARE FINE, JUST LOW BEAMS.THERE SEEMS TO BE A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE, BUT NOT FOR MY VIN #. ONLY ISSUE IS DRIVING AT NIGHT.
KEEP GETTING NOTICE ABOUT 2ND ROW SEAT FIX. AS I HAVE A HDCP RAMP VAN THERE IS NO 2ND ROW SEAT. HAVE ADVISED HONDA NUMEROUS TIMES.
AUTOMATIC SLIDING DOORS OPENING BY THEMSELVES, EVEN WHEN DOORS ARE LOCKED. HAPPENED WHEN SITTING IN HOME DRIVEWAY AND PUBLIC PARKING LOT,STATIONARY AT BOTH LOCATIONS. ALSO,STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT,APPLYING BRAKES, ON A CITY ROAD AND AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKS UNLOCKED AND LOCKED AGAIN, ON THEIR OWN. UNKNOWN REASONS FOR THESE OCCURRENCES. ALSO WHILE SITTING STATIONARY IN DRIVEWAY, MY VEHICLE STARTED UP WITH NO ONE INSIDE, NO KEY IN IGNITION, AND DOORS LOCKED.
I REPORT AN ISSUE WITH OUR VAN DOOR LAST YEAR THAT I FELT WAS PRETTY SERIOUS. I NEVER HAD A FOLLOWUP ON YOUR END TO THIS ISSUE. REFERENCE NUMBER PROVIDED WAS 10983098. HONDA OFFERED A DISCOUNTED REPAIR BUT I FELT THIS A BIGGER SAFETY ISSUE. I DID NOT PAY FOR THE REPAIR.
WHEN BRAKING THE VEHICLE SHAKES AND THE BRAKES VIBRATE TO THE POINT THAT THE VEHICLE FEELS UNSAFE. THIS HAS BEEN A CONTINUAL PROBLEM. BRAKES HAVE BEEN INSPECTED AND WE ARE TOLD THAT THE ROTORS ARE WARPED AND NEED TO BE REPLACED. THIS HAS BEEN DONE THREE TIMES AND NOW, AT 96,000 MILES WE ARE BEING TOLD THAT THE BRAKES/ROTORS NEED TO BE REDONE AGAIN. I WROTE TO HONDA IN 2017 AND NEVER RECEIVED A REPLY. THE HONDA DEALER SAYS IT IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE. SUPPOSEDLY A NEWER VERSION OF ROTOR WAS ISSUED AND INSTALLED THE LAST TIME, BUT THE PROBLEM IS BACK. FROM A DRIVER'S PERSPECTIVE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND HONDA SHOULD MAKE IT RIGHT. THEIR BRAKE COMPONENTS ARE UNDERSIZED OR NOT ENGINEERED PROPERLY FOR THE SIZE OF THE VEHICLE. THE VIBRATION IS NOT FELT ANYTIME THAT THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED, BUT MORE SIGNIFICANTLY WITH HIGHER SPEEDS AND QUICKER STOPS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER. IN ADDITION, THE CHECK CHARGING SYSTEM, ABS, AND TRACTION CONTROL WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO TAMERON HONDA (LOCATED AT 1675 MONTGOMERY HWY, BIRMINGHAM, AL) WAS CONTACTED AND DIAGNOSED THAT THE ALTERNATOR WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 85,000.
PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR BROKE. HAVE BEEN OPENING AND CLOSING MANUALLY JUST FINE. TODAY THE DOOR FELL OFF. IT WAS PARKED IN OUR LOT.
THE CABLE ON BOTH AUTOMATIC SLIDING DOORS HAVE BROKEN. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED BOTH TIMES. BOTH DOORS DO NOT OPEN AUTOMATICALLY OR MANUALLY NOW. THIS CAN CAUSE A HAZARD IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY WHERE SMALL CHILDREN (OR ADULTS) ARE IN THE BACK SEATS. THE ONLY WAY IN OR OUT IS THROUGH THE FRONT DRIVER/PASSENGER DOORS OR THE REAR LIFT DOOR. BOTH WAYS INVOLVE CLIMBING OVER SEATS.
TSB #11-033 I?M HAVING THE SAME OIL CONSUMPTION PROBLEMS THAT THEY NOTIFIED OWNERS ABOUT IN THIS BULLETIN NUMBER ABOVE. WHEN I CALLED TO ASK ABOUT THE RECALL THEY INFORM ME THAT MY VEHICLE IS NOT VIN SPECIFIC TO RECALL. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT THE VIN NUMBER HAS TO DO WITH THE ISSUE??? MY VEHICLE IS BURNING OIL AS DESCRIBED IN THE LAWSUIT THAT THE WERE FOUND GUILTY OF BACK IN JULY OF 2011. I GOT MY OIL CHANGED ON 6/19/2011 AND WAS ADDING OIL ON 6/21/2011 AS YOU CAN SEE WITH THE DOCUMENTS PROVIDED. I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW MY PARTICULAR VEHICLE IS NOT COVER IN THE RECALL. THEY WERE FOUND GUILTY! MY VEHICLE HAS THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM! THEY SHOULD BE LIABLE TO FIX ALL PROBLEMS ASSOCIATED WITH MY HONDA ODYSSEY. CAN YOU PLEASE GIVE ME ANSWERS AS TO WHY THEY ARE NOT? THANK YOU, *TR
CAR ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION JUDDERS AND GEAR SHIFTS UP AND DOWN CONSTANTLY WHEN CRUISING BETWEEN 30-45 MPH AND 60MPH. ENGINE SHAKES AND RPM IS SEEN GOING UP AND DOWN ALSO.
RODENTS CHEW THROUGH MY HONDA ODYSSEY 2011 ELECTRICAL WIRING. LOOKS LIKE WIRE COATING IS SOY BASED (BASED ON WHAT I AM READING ON FORUMS) WHICH ATTRACTS RODENTS. SO RODENTS CHEWED ELECTRICAL WIRING WHICH CAUSED ISSUES WITH SIGNALS GOING TO TRANSMISSION AND WE FACED ISSUES WITH DRIVING CAR. CAR STARTED JUMPING WHILE PUTTING IN REVERSE AND FORWARD GEARS AND WE IMMEDIATELY HAD TO TAKE IT TO DEALERSHIP. THIS WAS SAFETY HAZARD AND WE WERE LUCKY TO NOT FACE ACCIDENT. LOOKS LIKE HONDA IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND THEY EVEN HAVE DEVELOPED SHRINK WRAP TAPE (HONDA 4019-2317 RODENT TAPE). NOT SURE WHY THEY ARE NOT INSTALLING IT AT THE START
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE ABS INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE ABRUPTLY BRAKED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED WITHOUT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL BEING DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AUTOFAIR HONDA (200 KELLER ST, MANCHESTER, NH 03103) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ALTERNATOR NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED THE FOLLOWING DAY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BACK TO THE DEALER FOR FURTHER DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 105,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE CABLES ON BOTH REAR PASSENGER DOORS BROKE ( SNAPPED) WHILE WE WERE PUTTING OUR SONS ON THEIR CAR SEATS AND TRIED TO CLOSE THEM SEVERAL TIMES WITH THE REAR AUTOMATIC BUTTONS, WHEN THEY GOT TO THE END OF THE FRAME THEY WOULD REOPEN.WE WERE PARKED AND COULDN'T GET THEM TO CLOSE. SO FINALLY WE HAD TO CUT THE CABLE IN ORDER TO CLOSED THEM. WE CALLED THE DEALER REGARDING ANY RECALLS ON THIS , BUT UNFORTUNATELY DIDN'T GET ANYWHERE. PLEASE HELP...THANK YOU . WE WOULD LIKE TO HAVE THEM WORKING . ALSO THE HEAT ON THE DRIVER SIDE STOPPED WORKING AT THE SAME TIME....WE DEALT WITH IT OPENING THE MANUALLY FOR MONTHS. PLEASE HELP ON THIS
I ACCELERATED WHEN LIGHT TURNED GREEN AND MY DRIVERS SEAT TOPPED COMPLETELY BACK OFF THE BASE. SEAT BOTTOM AND BACK REMAINED TOGETHER. 2 "TORX" BOLTS WERE LATER FOUND ON FLOOR BY DEALER UNDER THE SEAT. NO ONE INJURED AS NO ONE WAS SITTING BEHIND DRIVER AND MY SON WAS IN PASSENGER SEAT AND ABLE TO HELP ME TIP BACK FORWARD TO WHERE I COULD GRAB STEERING WHEEL TO HANG ON TO IN ORDER TO REACH OUR DESTINATION. WE WERE IN MOTION ON A COUNTY ROAD. GOING STRAIGHT. VAN HAD BEEN REAR ENDED A YEAR PRIOR SO AFTER HONDA DEALER LOOKED AT IT WE TALKED TO THEM ABOUT TRYING TO GO THROUGH INSURANCE AS IT WAS ROCKING AFTER ACCIDENT AND THEY TIGHTENED IT. THEY TALKED TO HONDA BECAUSE I SAID I WANTED NEW BOLTS. HONDA SAID THEY DID NOT SELL SEPARATELY JUST WHOLE SEAT. THE BODY SHOP SAID THESE BOLTS HAD NO SIGNS OF EVER HAVING THREAD LOCK APPLIED TO THEM. THEY APPLIED THREAD LOCK AND PUT THEM BACK IN THE SEAT. I RESEARCHED ONLINE FOUND NOTHING LIKE THIS HAPPENING BOTH HONDA DEALER AND BODY SHOP SAID THEY HAD NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE IT. IN A WORSE SITUATION MYSELF OR MY CHILDREN COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED WHEN I LOST CONTROL OF THE WHEEL. PERFORMANCE KINGS HONDA AND GERBER COLLISION IN BLUE ASH OHIO ASSISTED ME. I AM STILL AFRAID IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN.
TODAY, AT HONDA DEALERSHIP, WAS INFORMED THAT THE REASON OUR VEHICLE SHAKES AND VIBRATES ROUGHLY AT HIGH SPEEDS (WHEN BRAKING) IS DUE TO WARPED ROTORS. WAS TOLD HONDA HAS DISCONTINUED MAKING THOSE ROTORS AND WOULD NEED THEM REPLACED WITH NEW ROTORS THAT HAVE BEEN MADE LARGER. KNOWN ISSUE, BUT NOT COVERED, COST APPROX $800 TOTAL WITH NEW PADS, ETC. VERY FRUSTRATED THAT A PART HAS BEEN DISCONTINUED AND DEEMED UNSAFE T BE USED AGAIN, BUT NO RECALL OR REIMBURSEMENT FOR THIS.
THIS IS A FOLLOW-UP OF MY COMPLAINT NUMBER 11076339. ON THAT COMPLAINT I FORGOT TO REPORT THAT ON 2/18/18 AFTER A LONG WEEKEND AWAY AND NOT DRIVING THE VAN FOR 4 DAYS, WHEN I TRIED TO START IT THE BATTERY WAS COMPLETELY DEAD. I HAD TO CONTACT MY INSURANCE (GEICO) WHO DISPATCHED A TOW TRUCK TO JUMP START MY VAN. SINCE THEN ALMOST EVERY TIME I START OR TURN OFF THE KEY TO MY VAN IT TELL ME "BAT LOW'. I CONTACTED THE DEALER AND AGAIN THEY TELL ME THAT THE VAN WORKS AS DESIGNED, THAT I NEED TO DRIVE THE VAN EVERY DAY FOR LONG RIDES. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. HONDA NEEDS TO RECALL THESE 2011 ODYSSEYS AND RECTIFY THE PROBLEM. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR ASSISTANCE WITH THIS MATTER. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, THE "CHECK CHARGING SYSTEM" AND "LOW BATTERY" SENSOR INDICATORS ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SHUT OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO JEFFREY HONDA (30800 GRATIOT AVE, ROSEVILLE, MI 48066), BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 103,000.
HAVE A BRAND NEW BATTERY AND EVERY TIME I START OR WHEN I TURN OFF THE VAN IT TELLS ME "BAT LOW". THE DEALER ALSO REPLACED THE BATTERY SENSOR BUT THE PROBLEM DID NOT GO AWAY. I TOOK VAN SEVERAL TIMES TO DEALER BUT THEY SAY: THE VAN RUNS AS DESIGNED, BUT, HOW IRONIC, IT COULD NOT PASS THE NYS INSPECTION.THEY TOLD ME TO DRIVE IT FOR 60 MILES AT HIGH SPEED AND HOPEFULLY IT WOULD THEN PASS INSPECTION. IT DID. THERE IS A DESIGN FAULT WITH THE ELECTRIC SYSTEM AND HONDA REFUSES TO ADDRESS THE PROBLEM. DID SOME RESEARCH ONLINE AND A LOT OF OTHER PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME PROBLEMS WITH THEIR 2011 HONDA ODYSSEY. ATTACHED IS THEIR SERVICENEWS ARTICLE OF FEB 2011 OUTLINING THE PROBLEM. THE DEALER FOLLOWED THE DIRECTIONS BUT THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. HONDA NEEDS TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM ONCE AND FOR ALL. THANK YOU. THE CONSUMER REQUESTED AN UPDATE. *JS
THE LATCH TOWARDS THE FRONT ON THE BOTTOM OF THE (SINGLE SEAT ON THE THIRD ROW) ON THE VERY FAR RIGHT SIDE DOES NOT LATCH PROPERLY. THE SEAT FALLS BACKWARDS WHEN MY 8 YEAR OLD SON SITS ON IT. IT DOESN'T MATTER IF THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION OR NOT. THE SEAT GOES IN A BACK WARD MOTION WHEN SOMEONE IS SITTING IN IT WITH THE PRESSURE OF THEIR BACK LEANING ON IT. I FEEL THIS COULD BE DANGEROUS AND NEEDS TO HAVE A RECALL.
CABLE ON RIGHT SLIDING DOOR SNAPPED A WEEK AGO, BROUGHT TO HONDA DEALER AND THEY STATED IT NEEDED A NEW CABLE. YESTERDAY WHEN OPENING DOOR WHEN VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, HARD TO OPEN, FINALLY OPENED AND GOT MY INFANT OUT, WENT TO CLOSE DOOR, HARD TO CLOSE THEN FELL OFF THE TRACK, BENT PIECES ON THE INSIDE OF DOOR.
IN JUNE OF THIS YEAR MY WIFE TOOK HER VAN IN FOR TPMS LITE BEING ON. WAS TOLD THE THE TIRE VALVE NUT HOLDING IT TO THE WHEEL HAD COME LOOSE AND REPLACED THE ENTIRE VALVE, NUT, AND WASHER. ALSO TOLD BY THE SERVICE ADVISOR THAT THEY SEE A LOT OF THESE WAS A COMMON HAPPENING. THIS MONTH DECEMBER 2017 SHE TOOK IT AGAIN FOR THE TPMS LITE CAME ON AGAIN. AS BEFORE THEY REPLACED ASSEMBLY SHE PAID HER BILL AND LEFT. HERE'S MY CONCERN FOR HER SAFETY AS WELL AS MINE. IF TRAVELING AT A HIGH SPEED AND THIS NUT CAME LOOSE THE LITE WOULD COME ON, BUT IF VALVE CAME TOTALLY LOOSE AND TIRE OVERHEATED AND BLEW OUT WOULDN'T THIS BE A SAFETY CONCERN? MOST OF THIS WAS OVERNIGHT ONCE AND THEN DRIVING IT ONCE.
AN UNLOCKED SECOND ROW OUTBOARD SEAT NEED TO BE REPLACED. RECALLED ON LAST DEC 2016, BUT STILL INCOMPLETE
SOFT BRAKE PEDAL GOES TO THE FLOOR. TOOK TO SHOP BRAKE SYSTEM HAD TO BE REVELED. AFTER 2 WEEKS DOING SAME PROBLEM. MASTER CYLINDER BEEN CHECKED WITH NO ISSUES
LOCATION, STATEN ISLAND, NY. DATE, 10/29/2017. TIME, ABOUT 9:45PM. DROVE OVER A FEW PUDDLES IN POURING RAIN AND A HILLY ROAD. SUDDENLY, THE CHECK CHARGE SYSTEM LIGHT CAME ON AND COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER STEERING. A MINUTE LATER, IT WAS RESTORED. IT HAPPENED AGAIN ABOUT A MINUTE LATER. THEN IT WAS BACK TO NORMAL. WAS ABLE TO DRIVE SAFELY HOME. EXTREMELY HAZARDOUS IF THE LOSS OF ALTERNATOR POWER CAN IMMEDIATELY CAUSE LOST OF STEERING.
THE WHOLE VAN STARTED VIBRATING AD SHAKING LIKE THE VAN WAS GOING TO COME APART.I CHECKED ON THE NHTSA REPORTS AND A LOT OF THIS IS HAPPENING. SOME DEALERS ARE SAYING DIFFERENT THINGS AND HONDA IS NOT DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT.IT SEEMS LIKE THE DISKS ARE TO SMALL FOR THE WEIGHT. 1 PERSON HAD RACING DISK AND BRAKES PUT ON AND NO PROBLEM.OTHER PEOPLE HAD THE BRAKES REDONE BY HONDA AND ABOUT A FEW THOUSAND MILES THE SAME THING HAPPENED. CHECK TO SEE WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING ON YOUR WEB SIGHT. ( NOT SAFE FOR US ) . I KNEW A WHILE BACK HONDA ALWAYS HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE ROTORS.BUT, I THOUGHT THEY FIXED THAT BY NOW. PLEASE DO SOMETHING. I JUST TURNED 40,000 MILES. AFTER 6 YEARS. ALL OTHER SERVICE HAS BEEN GOOD.
ON OCTOBER 15, 2017 AT 10:20PM MY GRANDSON WAS HEADING TO MY HOME AND WHILE LEAVING THE EXPRESSWAY, BOTH OF THE FRONT SAFETY BAG COVERS BLEW OUT HITTING HIM AND THE FRONT PASSENGER. HOWEVER, THE BAGS NEVER DEPLOYED. THIS HAPPENED WITHOUT A COLLISION BUT WHEN THE COVER HIT HIS EYEGLASSES, ONLY A SIZZLING SOUND WAS HEARD AND POWDER POWDER CAME OUT CAUSING THE LOOSE OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE HITTING IN A FRONTAL MANNER ANOTHER VEHICLE THAT PASSED BY. MY VEHICLE SUFFERED IMPORTANT DAMAGES BUT MY GRANDSON DID NOT SUFFER INJURIES EXCEPT FOR THE BROKEN EYEGLASSES. HIS FRIEND SUFFER BRUISES IN HIS ARM CAUSED BY THE COVER. I WENT TO THE HONDA DISTRIBUTOR HERE IN PUERTO RICO AND EXPLAINED THE CIRCUMSTANCES ON HOW THE ACCIDENT HAPPENED BUT INDICATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL ON RECORD FOR VEHICLES WITH TANAKA MECHANISM. I TOLD THEM TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE SO AS TO DETERMINE FAILURE OF THE SAFETY ISSUE BUT THEY DECLINED AND REFERRED ME TO AMERICAN HONDA FOR THEIR ADVISE. I AM SURE THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE AIRBAGS THAT MUST BE INVESTIGATED BY A CERTIFIED TECHNICIAN IN THE AREA OF BAGS SAFETY PERFORMANCE. THIS NEEDS TO BE ACCOUNTED FOR SINCE IT COULD HAVE COST THE LIFE OF MY GRANDSON AND HIS FRIEND. I WILL CALL AMERICAN HONDA AND MAKE THEM AWARE OF THE ISSUE. PLEASE, ADVISE AND WHERE POSSIBLE INDICATE FURTHER STEPS. AT THIS MOMENT THE DISTRIBUTOR REPRESENTATIVE WAS RELUCTANT TO CARE FOR THIS INCIDENT AND GOT RID OF ME IN LESS THAN 5 MINUTES OFFERING THE TELEPHONE OF THE MANUFACTURER. THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS CRITICAL MATTER.
SUNROOF OF OUR ODYSSEY EXPLODED WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WE SAW THAT GLASS WAS BOWED OUT. SERVICEMAN AT THE DEALERSHIP SAID THIS LOOKS TO HAVE OCCURRED FROM PRESSURE INSIDE THE VEHICLE. WE HAD NO CARGO AND NOTHING WAS TOUCHING THE SUNROOF. LUCKILY KIDS WERE NOT IN THE VEHICLE AT THE TIME AND VEHICLE WAS IN CONTROL, BUT THIS IS DANGEROUS AND COULD CAUSE INJURY.
CLEARCOAT IS FADING AND PEALING
AT 95K MILES, AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION OVERHEATED DUE TO INSUFFICIENT COOLING, FAULTY TORQUE CONVERTER. THE VEHICLE WAS NEVER USED FOR TOWING. THIS SEEMS TO BE A CHRONIC THEME (BAD TRANSMISSIONS) WITH HONDA ODYSSEYS.
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

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH AND PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED AND THE BRAKES FAILED TO WORK. THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO SOME GARDENING BLOCKS AROUND A TREE. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MCLEAN'S AUTO BODY IN GOLETA, CALIFORNIA. FROM THERE, THE TECHNICIAN TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN UNKNOWN DEALER WHERE THE SEAT BELT WAS REPLACED. THE FAILURE RECURRED WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED AND THE VEHICLE REAR ENDED THE PRECEDING VEHICLE. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS SLIGHTLY DAMAGED, BUT WAS NOT TOWED. THE FAILURE WAS NOT REPORTED TO A DEALER OR THE MANUFACTURER. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V933000 (SEATS). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
WHEN PARKED ON AN INCLINE, FACING DOWN HILL, I PRESSED THE BUTTON TO OPEN THE PASSENGER SIDE MOTORIZED SLIDING DOOR TO ALLOW THE KIDS IN. THE DOOR OPENED HALF WAY. I HEARD A SNAP AND THE DOOR SLAMMED SHUT. LUCKILY THE KIDS WERE NOT GETTING INTO THE CAR YET OR WOULD LIKELY HAVE BEEN INJURED. FOUND THAT ONE OF THE WIRES THAT RUNS THRU THE DOOR MOTOR HAD SNAPPED. ONLY REPAIR FOR THIS I'M TOLD BY DEALERSHIP IS REPLACEMENT OF THE MOTOR. COMMON PROBLEM FROM WHAT I'M READING AS WELL.
WHEN ACCELERATING THE TRANSMISSION SLIPS AND SHUDDERS WHEN THE SPEED CROSSES 35 MILES / HR (OCCURRING SINCE PURCHASE) AND AGAIN AT 70 MILES / HOUR (OCCURRING SINCE 2016). EVEN WHEN FOOT BRAKE IS APPLIED, VEHICLE MOVES A LITTLE (A FEW CENTIMETERS)
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE THE CHECK BATTERY LIGHT COMES ON. IT'S NOT A BATTERY ISSUE. I HAVE INSTALLED A BRAND NEW BATTERY. ONCE THE VOLTAGE DROPS THE VEHICLE BECOME SLUGGISH AND WILL NOT ACCELERATE. THIS COULD BE VERY DANGEROUS IN A HIGH-SPEED SITUATION SUCH AS ON A BUSY FREEWAY. IN DOING RESEARCH I HAVE FOUND THIS APPEARS TO BE A FAIRLY WIDESPREAD ISSUE. BUT I DO NOT KNOW IF THERE HAVE BEEN ANY DEATHS AS A RESULT OF IT YET. I DO NOT BELIEVE HONDA IS DOING ANYTHING ABOUT THE ISSUE. IT APPEARS TO BE AFFECTING SOME LATER MODELS AS WELL.
A PROBLEM WITH THE DRIVER SIDE PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR MECHANISM. THE DOOR WILL OPEN AND CLOSE WHEN USING THE BUTTON OR REMOTE BUT WILL NOT REMAINED LATCHED. AFTER THE DOOR SHUTS, THE LATCH WILL LET LOOSE AND THE DOOR WILL BE OPEN AJAR ABOUT AN INCH OR SO CAUSING THE BEEPING AND DASH ALERT THAT THE DOOR IS OPEN. THE ONLY RESOLUTION TO QUIET THE BEEPING IS TO REMOVE THE FUSE FOR THAT DOOR AND USE IT MANUALLY.
MY BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON AND A FLASHING "CHECK CHARGING SYSTEM" WARNING. I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC AND WAS TOLD THE ALTERNATOR AND BATTERY WERE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION AND THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE SENSOR. WE REPLACED THE BATTERY JUST TO BE SURE AND THE ERROR IS STILL THERE. AFTER EXTENSIVE RESEARCH WE HAVE COME TO KNOW THIS IS A COMMON FAULT IN THE ODYSSEY'S AND HAS YET TO BE ACKNOWLEDGED BY HONDA.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE PARKING, THE VEHICLE SURGED FORWARD AND CRASHED INTO A PILLAR WITHOUT WARNING. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,000.
I PARKED MY CAR IN THE DRIVEWAY OF MY DAUGHTER'S PLAYDATE'S HOUSE AND STEPPED OUT FOR LESS THAN 5 MINUTES TO PICK HER UP, LEAVING MY 8 YEAR OLD SON IN THE THIRD ROW IN THE VAN. AFTER HELPING HER WITH SHOES AND A JACKET MY DAUGHTER RAN OUT IN FRONT OF ME THEN TOLD ME MY SON WAS SCREAMING. I THOUGHT HE WAS SCREAMING BECAUSE HE WAS UPSET WITH ME. I RETURNED TO FIND MY SON WITH A RED FACE, STREAMING TEARS AND HOLDING ON TO THE SEAT YELLING, "MOM! I CAN'T BREATHE! THE BELT'S AROUND MY NECK! HELP ME!" INDEED MY SON'S NECK WAS ENTANGLED IN THE SECOND ROW MIDDLE SEAT BELT. TRYING TO REMAIN CALM I TRIED TO RELEASE THE BELT AT THE ANCHOR POINT ATTACHED TO THE LEFT SIDE OF THE SEAT WITH THE MALE END OF THE BUCKLE BUT IT COULD NOT REACH BECAUSE THE BELT HAD RETRACTED TOO FAR AND LOCKED. I TRIED TO GET HIM TO TURN TO UNTANGLE BUT THE BELT WAS TOO TIGHT AND CONTINUED TO RETRACT AND LOCK FURTHER WITH ANY ADDITIONAL MOVEMENT. I RAN BACK TO THE FRONT DOOR OF THE HOUSE, BANGED ON IT AND YELLED FOR A PAIR OF SCISSORS. SCISSORS IN HAND I RAN BACK TO THE VAN. THE OTHER MOTHER RAN BEHIND ME, SAW MY SON ENTANGLED (NOW PALE-FACED BUT STILL BREATHING) AND WATCHED ME CUT THE SEAT BELT TO RELEASE HIM. THE BELT WAS SO TIGHT THE CAPILLARIES AROUND HIS EYES, ON HIS FACE AND NECK HAD BURST LEAVING RED SPOTS. RED LINES WERE EVIDENT AROUND HIS NECK AND A BRUISE THE SIZE OF A HALF DOLLAR WHERE THE BELT HAD TWISTED WAS VISIBLE. HE DID NOT REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION AS HE DID NOT LOOSE CONSCIOUSNESS. THE NEXT DAY I EXPLAINED THE SITUATION TO THE SCHOOL PRINCIPAL AND NURSE; HIS TEACHERS FOLLOWED SUIT. WHILE THE BUCKLE IS USED TO RELEASE THE BELT AT ITS PRELIMINARY ANCHOR POINT THERE ALSO NEEDS TO BE SOMETHING ON THE SIDE OF THE SEAT ITSELF THAT CAN BE USED TO RELEASE IT INSTEAD OF OR IN ADDITION TO THE ACTUAL BUCKLE ITSELF. THAT WAY IF IT LOCKS THE BELT CAN STILL BE RELEASED. *TR
THE ENGINE REPORTED EMISSIONS FAILURE FOLLOWED BY VSA ACTIVATION. THIS WAS LATER DIAGNOSED TO ENGINE MISFIRE AND DAMAGE TO THE PISTON RINGS. THE VEHICLE WAS ON THE FREEWAY WHEN THIS HAPPENED AND WENT INTO LIMP MODE. IT ALSO STARTED VIBRATING AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN MAINTAINED BY A HONDA DEALERSHIP WITH ALL REQUIRED AND OPTIONAL SERVICES PERFORMED.
I OFFICIALLY PURCHASED A USED 2011 HONDA ODYSSEY FROM A LOCAL HONDA DEALERSHIP ON OCTOBER 5, 2016. BEFORE I LEFT WITH THE NEW VEHICLE, THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DIVISION REPLACED BOTH THE FRONT AND REAR BRAKE PADS ON THE VEHICLE (SEE ATTACHED PHOTOS FOR SERVICE/REPAIR INVOICE DATED 10/4/2016). ON OCTOBER 7-8, 2016, I DROVE THE CAR ON A STATE HIGHWAY IN SOME MOUNTAINOUS AREAS BOTH ON A UPHILL AND DOWNHILL SLOPE AT ABOUT 30-50 MPH. I NOTICED THAT ESPECIALLY WHEN DRIVING ON A DOWNWARD SLOPE, WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES EVEN SLIGHTLY, THE CAR BEGAN TO PERCEPTIBLY SHUDDER. THE GREATER THE SLOPE OF THE ROAD, THE GREATER THE SHUDDERING EFFECT. I RETURNED WITH THE VEHICLE TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP FOR ANOTHER UNRELATED REASON, BUT INQUIRED ABOUT THE SHUDDERING AND ASKED IF DURING THE DEALERSHIP'S SAFETY INSPECTIONS IF ANY PROBLEMS RELATED TO THE BRAKES HAD BEEN DISCOVERED, SINCE THE PADS WERE BRAND NEW. THE TECHNICIAN AT THE DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME THAT THE ROTORS HAD BEEN WARPED DUE TO EXCESSIVE HEAT FROM BRAKING. AFTER I PRESSED HIM FOR MORE INFORMATION, HE TOLD ME THAT VIRTUALLY EVERY RECENTLY-PRODUCED HONDA ODYSSEY (I.E., MODELS MANUFACTURED IN THE LAST 5-10 YEARS) THAT HE HAD SEEN COME THROUGH THE SERVICE DIVISION EXPERIENCED A SIMILAR WARPING PROBLEM AFTER NEARLY EVERY 30,000-40,000 MILES DRIVEN. IN HIS OPINION, THE ROTORS INSTALLED IN HONDA ODYSSEYS WERE ACTUALLY MUCH TOO SMALL (I.E., THEY DID NOT HAVE ENOUGH SURFACE AREA) TO BE ABLE TO WITHSTAND THE HIGH AMOUNTS OF HEAT CAUSED BY THE LARGE BRAKES REQUIRED FOR THE RELATIVELY LARGER MODEL OF VEHICLE (THE VAN). HE WENT AS FAR AS TO TELL ME THAT HE WAS ACCUSTOMED TO INSTALLING LARGER-THAN-RECOMMENDED ROTORS IN SOME OF HIS CUSTOMERS' VANS TO TRY AND AVOID THE PROBLEM. HE SAID HE WOULDN'T BE SURPRISED IF A RECALL WOULD BE FORTHCOMING ON THE ROTORS. I WOULD LIKE TO REQUEST AN INVESTIGATION ON THESE ROTORS TO INITIATE SUCH A RECALL.
WHEN I BRAKE DRIVING 40MPH OR MORE, THE CAR AND THE STEERING WHEEL WILL SHAKE AND VIBRATE EXTREMELY VIOLENTLY. THIS STARTED WHEN THERE WAS ONLY 30K MILES ON THE CAR SO I TOOK IT TO A DEALER IN TN AND THEY SAID THEY DIDN'T FIND A PROBLEM. THEN AT 42K MILES, I TOOK IT TO ANOTHER DEALER IN VA AND THE FRONT ROTORS AND PADS WERE REPLACED. HOWEVER, THIS DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. NOW THE CAR HAS 70K MILES AND THE SHAKING WHEN I BRAKE, WAS GOTTEN WORSE. IT FEELS LIKE THE CAR IS OUT OF CONTROL AND NOT SAFE TO DRIVE, ESPECIALLY WITH PASSENGERS IN THE CAR. THERE SEEMS TO BE A NUMBER OF THE SAME COMPLAINTS ON THIS SITE, SO WHY HASN'T THERE BEEN A RECALL?
PUTTING BRAKES ON AT HIGH SPEED, LIKE AT INTERSTATE SPEED, VEHICLE AND STEERING WHEEL WILL SHAKE, AND VIBRATE EXCESSIVELY. WARP FRONT BRAKE ROTORS. VEHICLE ONLY HAS 40,000 MILES ON IT, BUT HAS BEEN DOING IT SINCE ABOUT 30,0000 MILES. USUALLY NOT A PROBLEM SINCE MOST OF MY DRIVING IS IN THE CITY, BUT WHEN USING THE INTERSTATE IT IS SCARY IF YOU HAVE TO MAKE AN EMERGENCY STOP. FEELS LIKE YOU CAN LOOSE CONTROL.
MY VAN WAS INVOLVED IN THE HONDA ODYSSEY RECALL FROM 2013 REGARDING MISSING RIVETS IN THE DRIVERS AIRBAG. I BROUGHT IT IN TO HONDA AND THEY REPAIRED AND INSPECTED THE AIRBAG IMMEDIATELY IN 2013. I RECENTLY WAS IN A MAJOR ACCIDENT IN WHICH THE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY AT ALL. LUCKILY, MY ONLY INJURY WAS WHIPLASH AND PTSD. HOWEVER, I'M VERY WORRIED THAT MY AIRBAG DID NOT PROPERLY DEPLOY TO PROTECT ME FROM SERIOUS INJURY. MY ACCIDENT INVOLVED ME HITTING ANOTHER STOPPED VEHICLE AT APPROX 50MILES AN HOUR. I HIT THEIR BACK END WITH MY FRONT END, HEAD ON. MY FRONT END OF MY ODYSSEY IS SMASHED IN AND MY VAN IS TOTALED, BEYOND REPAIR. IT OCCURRED ON A COUNTRY ROUTE/STATE ROAD
2011 HONDA ODYSSEY EXL AS I WAS DRIVING WITH MY FAMILY TWO BABYS ON THE FREEWAY 65 MILES ALL OF A SUDDEN THE VEHICLE THE VSA LIGHT CAME ON AND THE VAN BREAK BY ITSELF ALMOST GOT REAR-ENDED, I WAS LUCKY THAT THERE WAS A EXIT TO THE LEFT AS I WAS DRIVING ON THE LEFT FAST LINE. I TOW TO THE HONDA DEALER THE WANT TO CHARGE ME $123+ TAX FOR DIAGNOSIS TO FIND OUT WHAT HAPPEN. IT WAS A NIGHTMARE WITH TO BABY IN THE VAN, AFTER SOME ONLINE SEARCH I FIND OUT THAT ALOT OF HONDA OWNER COMPLAIN ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE, DEFECTS VEHICLE STABILITY ASSIST (VSA) THE VEHICLE HAS ONLY 12000 MILE, WHEN I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. CAN SOMEONE HELP BY THE HONDA OF AMERICA IS RESPONSIBLE THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL FOR THIS IT IS MANUFATURED DEFECTIVE VEHICLE WHAT ARE YOU GUYS DOING TO PROTECT THE AMERICAN PEOPLE?
THE VEHICLE SHAKES QUITE A BIT WHEN BRAKING FROM HIGHWAY SPEEDS, SUCH AS WHEN ENTERING AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY OFFRAMP. APPARENTLY THIS IS CAUSED BY PREMATURELY WARPING BRAKE ROTORS.
CAR WHEN ON BLUETOOTH WITH IPHONE WILL ABRUPTLY CUT OFF AND NOT ALLOW OPERATOR TO USE HANDS FREE. EVERY DAY THIS HAPPENS.
BATTERY WARNING CAME ON SO REPLACED BATTERY. LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN A FEW WEEKS LATER SO HAD BATTERY TESTED AS WELL AS ANYTHING THAT WOULD DRAIN BATTERY LIFE. EVERYTHING WAS GOOD. BUT NOW EVERY TIME I OPEN THE DOOR OR TURN OFF THE CAR THE CAR LOUDLY BEEPS A LOW BATTERY WARNING. FED UP WITH IT. IF CAR WAS NOT PAID OFF I WOULD TRADE IT IN BUT WOULD THINK TWICE BOUT GETTING ANOTHER HONDA SINCE THEY WON'T FIX THE PROBLEM.
8 MONTHS AGO WHILE VEHICLE WAS PARK, RAIN CAME INSIDE THE VAN BEHIND REAR VIEW MIRROR DOWN THROUGH THE RADIO.04/01/16 WHILE DRIVING(HIGHWAY) IN THE RAIN WATER AGAIN CAME INSIDE THE VAN BEHIND THE REAR VIEW MIRROR.TALKED TO SERVICE TECH. SHE STATED THIS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH HONDA, BUT THEY STILL HAVE TO CHARGE FOR THIS MANUFACTURED PROBLEM.HAVE 75535 MILES.
BRAKE ROTORS ARE WARPING , 2011 MODEL WITH 32000 MILES, FOUND MANY SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ON THIS WEB SITE.DRAGGING OR SKIPPING WHEN VEHICLE IN MOTION AND BRAKES APPLIED. DEALER CALLS IT NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE SHOOK VIOLENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ROTORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 32,275. UPDATED 04/13/16*LJ UPDATED 04/26/16*LJ THE CONSUMER EXPERIENCED A WHEEL VIBRATION AND SHIMMY FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE ON FOUR SEPARATE OCCASIONS. THE BRAKES AND ROTORS WERE SERVICED EACH TIME. UPDATED 05/02/16. *JB *JS
I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING A FRONT CREAKING NOISE ON MY VEHICLE WHEN I'M TURNING AT LOW SPEEDS. I'VE ADD THE VAN IN TWICE FOR THE REPAIR AND WAS COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY. MY VAN NEEDS TO NOW GO IN AGAIN FOR THE THIRD TIME AND IT'S NOT UNDER WARRANTY. THERE IS A SERVICE BULLETIN OUT FOR THIS, 11-038
THE ENGINE SHUTTERS AT LOW SPEEDS AND GOING UP HILL. HONDA DECLINES TO ACCEPT THE ISSUE. BATTERY LOW INDICATOR WARNING POPS UP EVEN WHEN THE BATTERY IS FLOODED. MAY NEED A SOFTWARE UPDATE TO BATTERY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM.
IN 2011 AFTER WE BOUGHT THE VEHICLE WE TOOK A TRIP TO COLORADO WHERE OUR BRAKES FAILED, I WAS PUSHING THE BRAKES GENTLY DOWN A HILL AND AFTER ABOUT 1 MINUTE THE CAR STARTED TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY, I THOUGHT I HAD A FLAT SO I PULLED OVER AND CHECKED BUT THE TIRES WERE FINE, THAN I REALIZED THAT THE DISC BRAKES HAVE WARPED MAKING THE CAR DIFFICULT TO SLOW DOWN, AFTER WE MADE IT BACK HOME WE TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER WERE THEY TURNED THE BRAKES TO SMOOTH IT OUT AND TOLD US IT WAS FINE. IT WAS FINE FOR A LITTLE WHILE 2-3 MONTHS WHEN IT STARTED DOING IT AGAIN, WE TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER AGAIN THIS TIME THEY REPLACED THE DISCS IN THE FRONT BUT THEY DIDN'T WANT TO WE JUST HAD TO FIGHT WITH THEM TO GET IT DONE. IT DIDN'T TAKE BUT ABOUT 5000 MILE WHEN IT STARTED DOING THE SAME THING, THIS TIME I CALLED OTHER FRIENDS WHO OWNED THE SAME STYLE MINIVAN AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE BRAKED, THIS TIME I ORDERED A SET OF HIGH PERFORMANCE DISC BRAKE SET FOR THE FRONT TO SEE IF IT MAKES A DIFFERENCE AND IT DID. I HAD THOSE DISC BRAKES ON FOR 2 YEARS AND THE CAR IS FINE, THE ISSUE IS THAT THE BRAKES ARE NOT MADE WELL ENOUGH TO HOLD UP ON THE LONG TERM, BECAUSE AFTER BRAKING DOWN HILL FOR ABOUT A MILE THE DISC BRAKES IN THE FRONT WARP AND CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY, I TOLD MY FRIENDS WHAT I DID TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM AND THEY ALL FOLLOWED MY LEAD TO CHANGE OUT THE FACTORY FRONT DISCS WITH A BETTER QUALITY ONE, AND THAT SEEMS TO BE WORKING FOR NOW. I STRONGLY SUGGEST SOME TO LOOK INTO THIS MATTER BECAUSE HONDA SHOULD HAVE UPGRADED THE BRAKES ON THEIR OWN WHY SHOULD I HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET WHILE THE VEHICLE IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY TO HAVE A SAFETY ISSUE LIKE THIS FIXED. I CAN TELL YOU THIS THAT I WILL NOT BE OWNING ANY HONDA PRODUCT IN THE FUTURE, I HAD TOO MANY ISSUES WITH THIS ONE.
I PURCHASED A 2011 WHITE HONDA ODYSSEY FROM A SMALL TIME DEALER ON NOV 2012. I OBSERVED THAT THE ROOF OF THE CAR HAD ITS PAINT PEELING OFF AFTER ABOUT A YEAR 2013 NOV. I WENT TO A REPUTED DEALER, WHO ACKNOWLEDGED THE PAINT ISSUES WITH HONDA BUT TOLD THAT 2011 MODELS ARE NOT ONE OF THOSE. HE CONTACTED HONDA AND CAME BACK WITH AN OFFER OF $400 TO COVER THE PAINT ISSUES. BUT THAT WOULD NO WAY CUT IT AND I FEEL CHEATED AND RIPPED TO HAVE BOUGHT A HONDA. WILL NEVER BUY A HONDA AGAIN.
CHANGE BATTERY WARNING! JUST REPLACED FOR A BRAND BATTERY. TWO MONTHS LATER THE SAME THING!?
I WAS PARKED IN OUR LEVEL DRIVEWAY, WHILE THE CAR WAS RUNNING, AND GOT OUT OF THE CAR AFTER MAKING SURE IT WAS IN PARK. SHUT THE DOOR, AND THE CAR ROLLED DOWN THE DRIVEWAY OVER A SMALL HILL AND HIT THE RAILROAD TRACKS IN FRONT OF OUT HOUSE. NO ONE WAS INJURED.THE PARKING MECHANISM ON THIS VEHICLE DID NOT OPERATE EFFECTIVELY, THE SHIFTER SAID IT WAS IN PARK,AND THE CAR JUMPED INTO GEAR.
THE BATTERY AND ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FREQUENTLY GOES DEAD, LEAVING MY FAMILY STRANDED AND FEELING INSECURE ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THIS VEHICLE. FOR EXAMPLE, IF I SIT IN THE CAR, TURNED OFF, WITH THE KEY IN THE IGNITION (NO LIGHTS ON, NO RADIO, ETC.) THE BATTERY WILL DIE. I HAVE TO HAVE IT JUMPED, OR WAIT HOURS (WITHOUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION) FOR THE BATTERY TO RECHARGE. I DON'T FEEL SAFE BEING STRANDED SOMEPLACE FOR HOURS AT NIGHT.
WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP ON WET ROADS, THE TIRES SPIN AND THERE IS NO TRACTION; THE CAR FISHTAILS AND STARTS VERY SLOWLY. I ALWAYS THOUGHT THE INITIAL TIRES WERE CHEAP, BUT I RECENTLY BOUGHT NEW TIRES (NOT FROM HONDA) AND SPECIFICALLY REQUESTED TIRES THAT WOULD FIX THIS PROBLEM. BUT THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. I NO LONGER THINK IT IS A "TIRE" ISSUE, BUT A CAR AND WEIGHT-DISTRIBUTION ISSUE. DRIVING IN THE RAIN OR ON WET ROADS IS VERY DANGEROUS IN A HONDA ODYSSEY.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THEN, WHILE FUELING THE VEHICLE, THE GAS PUMP KEPT SHUTTING OFF. FOUND THAT THE GAS EVAPORATOR WAS FULL OF WATER. THE DEALER SAID THEY HAVE NO CLUE HOW WATER COULD GET IN THERE. I BELIEVE THIS COULD CAUSE MAJOR ISSUES WITH EMISSIONS OR EVEN A POSSIBLE FIRE DUE TO GAS FUMES NOT BEING ABLE TO BE ABSORBED BY THE CHARCOAL FILTER IN THE EVAPORATOR. I WOULD THINK THAT HONDA WOULD TAKE THIS SERIOUS AND FIND A SOLUTION TO THIS ISSUE/PROBLEM.
VIBRATION IN BRAKE PEDAL AND STEERING WHEEL WHEN BRAKING, EXTREMELY NOTICED AT SPEEDS ABOVE 45 MILES PER HOUR. DEALER DID NOT ACKNOWLEDGE PROBLEM AT 09/12/2012, BUT FOUND AND 'FIXED' WARPED BREAK ROTOR AT ABOUT 45000 MILES ON 7/9/2013. PROBLEM (VIBRATION AND PULSING OF STEERING WHEEL AND BRAKE PEDAL) SOON REAPPEARED AND ON 7/27/2015 RETURNED TO DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT WARPING HAD AGAIN OCCURRED. CALLED HONDA, WHO SAID THAT THE THEY WERE NOT RECALLING THE ORIGINAL BRAKE ROTOR (PART NUMBER 45251-TK8-A01 EVEN THOUGH IT IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE AND HAS BEEN REPLACED BY 45251-TK8-A02. THE NEW BRAKE ROTOR NOW BEING PUT ON 2011 AND LATER HONDA ODYSSEY HAS INCREASED INTERNAL THICKNESS (MORE MASS AND SMALLER AIR VENTS) AND OTHER CHANGES. FOR MY CAR, THE OLDER ROTOR IS DEFECTIVE, WHY HAS IT NOT BEEN RECALLED?
HAVE A RECURRING ISSUE WITH TPMS LIGHT ON MY HONDA MINI-VAN. HAVE BEEN TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT, THE CODE COMING BACK IS "RADIO FREQUENCY THIRD WHEEL", AND THIS LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD WILL NOT SHUT OFF. THE DEALER TOLD ME THIS IS SOMETHING THEY CANNOT FIX. HONDA CORP NEEDS TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM AND INFORM DEALERS HOW TO FIX THE TPMS INDICATOR LIGHT. I HAVE READ THAT SMART PHONES, LAPTOPS, ETC CAN CAUSE THIS PROBLEM, WHICH SHOULD NOT EVEN BE AN ISSUE. I WILL ALWAYS HAVE MY SMART PHONE WITH ME FOR SAFETY PURPOSES. TECHNOLOGY SHOULD NEVER BE AN INTERFERENCE ISSUE WITH TPMS. THIS INDICATOR JOLTS/SCARES ME WHEN IT COMES ON, MOST TIMES ON THE HIGHWAY NEARLY CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. THE DEALER TODAY TOLD ME TO PUT BLACK TAPE OVER THE LIGHTS SO THEY DON'T BOTHER ME, THAT WAS THEIR ANSWER!! NOT ACCEPTABLE. ....UPDATED 11/13/15 *BF I WENT TO A NON-HONDA REPAIR SHOP WHO FIXED THE FAULTY SENSOR AND ALL IS GOOD WITH THE VAN. THE HONDA DEALER WAS INCORRECTLY TELLING ME THAT IT WAS A RADIO FREQUENCY ERROR DUE TO THE ELECTRONICS IN MY CAR. I WENT TO ANOTHER PLACE, WHO DIAGNOSED AND FIXED THE TPMS PERFECTLY. UPDATED 11/18/15.*JB
MY 2011 HONDA ODYSSEY HAS RECENTLY STARTED TO EXHIBIT EXTREME STEERING AND WHEEL WOBBLE WHEN BRAKING. IT STARTED TO WOBBLE INITIALLY AT SPEED. NOW IT WOBBLES AT ALMOST ANY REASONABLE SPEED. HONDA DOES NOT SEEM TO HAVE ANY RECALL INFORMATION ABOUT THIS. AT SPEEDS IT IS SEVERE ENOUGH TO WARRANT A LOSS OF CONTROL SPECIALLY DRIVING DOWNHILL ON CURVES. IT IS VERY HARD TO KEEP CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE.
WHILE BRAKING, THE STEERING BEGIN TO SHIMMY. CHECKS BY A TIRE/BRAKE SHOP VERIFIED THAT THE FRONT ROTORS WERE WARPED. ROTORS WERE REMOVED AND TURNED TO REMOVE WARPING. SATISFACTORY PERFORMANCE OF BRAKING WAS RESTORED BUT AT 60,000 MILES PROBLEM BEGAN TO REOCCUR . I INTEND TO REPLACE ROTORS AND PADS WITH QUALITY MATERIAL (NON HONDA PARTS) TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. I'M GREATLY DISAPPOINTED WITH HONDA AND THEIR POOR MATERIAL QUALITY.
THE BATTERY AND ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FREQUENTLY GOES DEAD, LEAVING MY FAMILY STRANDED AND FEELING INSECURE ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THIS VEHICLE.
SEVERE VIBRATION WHILE BRAKING AT ANY SPEED ABOVE 45 MPH. I'M REPORING THIS PROBLEM MAY 2015, HOWEVER I HAVE NOTICED THIS GOING ON FOR ABOUT 2 YEAR AND DIDN'T KNOW WHAT IT COULD BE, THOUGHT IT WAS ROAD CONDITIONS. SINCE I DON'T DRIVE FREEWAYS VERY OFTEN (VERY LOW MILES ON MY 2011 HONDA ODYSSEY) I DIDN'T GIVE IT MUCH THOUGHT, HOWEVER NOW THAT I'M DRIVING MORE FREQUENTLY AT HIGHER SPEEDS ON VARIOUS ROADS, THERE IS DEFINETELY A VIBRATION UPON BRAKING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE SUMMER AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED, THE AIR CONDITIONER FAILED. THE DEALER REPLACED THE O-RINGS AND REFILLED THE FREON. THE NEXT YEAR, THE AIR CONDITIONER FAILED AGAIN AND THE DEALER REPLACED THE CONDENSER. THE AIR CONDITIONER FAILED AGAIN AND THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO MAKE A DETERMINATION OF WHAT CAUSED THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
ALTHOUGH THERE IS A RECALL (R72) FOR THE HONDA ODYSSEY 2011 FOR WIPERS DISCONNECTING FROM MOTOR. HONDA REFUSES TO FIX MY ISSUE AS THEY SAY IT DOESN'T FALL WITHIN THE AFFECTED BATCH. THE SYMPTOM IS EXACTLY THE SAME. THEY ARE NOW CHARGING ME $30 FOR THE PART AND $220 WITH INSTALLATION. THIS HAPPENED EXACTLY AS THE DESCRIPTION OF THE RECALL. THEY REFUSE TO ACCEPT ITS THEIR ISSUE. *TR
CHECK ENGINE (MALFUNCTION LIGHT BLINKING), CAR WAS STRUGGLING TO ACCELERATE, CHECKED THE CHECK ENGINE CODE FROM THE ONBOARD COMPUTER, THE CODE WAS 302. AS RECOMMENDED IN OWNERS MANUAL, TRIED TO OPEN AND CLOSE THE FUEL TANK LID, STILL THE ISSUE IS THERE. I WILL BE TAKING THIS TO A DEALER. HONDA CARS ARE SUPPOSE TO BE RELIABLE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, THE BRAKES FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,000.
THE BRAKES ROTORS APPEAR TO BE WARPED AND VIBRATE VERY VIOLENTLY WHEN BRAKING MODERATELY AT HIGHER SPEEDS. THIS VIOLENT VIBRATION MAKES CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE DIFFICULT IN THOSE SITUATIONS WHEN IT OCCURS. THE DEALER HAS IDENTIFIED NOTHING WRONG. *TR
DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25MPH ON A SIDE STREET. CAR SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. IMMEDIATELY LOST POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES. HAD TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP TO RESTART CAR. CAR RESTARTED AND DROVE 1 MILE HOME. CAR TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. DEALERSHIP COULD FIND NO ERROR MESSAGE ON COMPUTER READING. *TR
MY IGNITION KEY IS FALLING APART. THE IGNITION KEY CONTAINS THE SECURITY CHIP TO ALLOW THE CAR TO START/RUN AND IT ALSO CONTAINS THE TRANSMITTER TO LOCK AND UNLOCK THE CAR. THE HOUSING OF THE KEY IS COMING APART. I AM CONCERNED THAT MY CAR MAY STOP RUNNING IF THE SECURITY CHIP FALLS OUT OF THE HOUSING, AS I AM DRIVING. THIS WOULD CAUSE THE ENGINE TO STOP RUNNING AND THE LOST OF POWER FOR THE BRAKES AND STEERING. I REPORTED THIS ISSUE TO HONDA AND THEY ARE NOT INTERESTED IN ASSISTING ME WITH REPAIRING HIS AS A WARRANTY ISSUE. THE COST TO REPLACE THE KEY IS IN EXCESS OF $100.00. MANY INDIVIDUALS ARE DOING WELL TO JUST MAKE THE CAR PAYMENT AND DO NOT HAVE THE FUNDS TO PURCHASE A REPLACEMENT KEY DUE TO THE ABOVE MENTIONED ISSUE. SEEING THAT GM HAS HAD A NUMBER OF CRASHES RELATED TO THE IGNITION SWITCH, I BELIEVE THAT A SIMILAR ISSUE IS LIKELY TO OCCUR WITH HONDA'S USING THE SAME KEY AS MY 2011 ODYSSEY EX-L. *TR
MY CAR DIED ON MONDAY, AUGUST 25, SO I CALLED HONDA OF MARYSVILLE TO GET MY BATTERY REPLACED. WENT IN ON TUESDAY, THEY QUOTED ME $168+ REPLACE BATTERY, SO I CALLED KLEIN HONDA AND WAS QUOTED $99 + TAX. LEFT MARYSVILLE HONDA AND WENT TO KLEIN TO HAVE MY BATTERY REPLACED. AFTER THEY REPLACED MY BATTERY, THE GENTLEMAN TOLD ME I NEEDED A NEW ALTERNATOR. HE PROVIDED ME A WRITTEN QUOTE OF $800. I CALLED SIMS HONDA (BURLINGTON, WA) FOR A SECOND OPINION AND WAS VERBALLY QUOTED $550, BUT THEY WANTED TO SEE THE CAR. WEDNESDAY MORNING AT 0930, I LOADED MY CHILDREN AND MYSELF INTO OUR VAN TO GET THE SECOND OPINION. NOT MORE THAN A MILE FROM HOME MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, I PULLED OVER. WITHIN MINUTES MY CAR WAS FULLY ENFLAMED. *TR

I FILE THIS COMPLAINT TO REPORT A DANGEROUS DEFECT IN MY 2011 HONDA ODYSSEY VAN TO PREVENT OTHERS FROM SUFFERING SIMILAR OR WORSE HARM WHAT HAPPENED TO ME. I STOPPED MY VEHICLE AT THE TOP OF MY DRIVEWAY, WHERE IT IS FLAT, TO GET MY MAIL I PLACED THE VAN IN PARK BEFORE I STEPPED OUT OF THE VEHICLE TO GET MY MAIL. THE VAN WAS NOT MOVING WHEN I EXITED THE VEHICLE. MY TWO CHILDREN REMAINED IN THE VEHICLE. AS I WENT TO GET THE MAIL, THE NEXT THING I KNEW MY VAN WAS MOVING ON ITS OWN DOWN THE DRIVEWAY. BECAUSE MY KIDS WERE STILL BUCKLED IN THEIR SEATS IN THE VEHICLE, I DID EVERYTHING I COULD TO STOP THE VAN. HOWEVER, I DID NOT SUCCEED. THE VAN CUT OFF THE DRIVEWAY, WENT THROUGH THE LANDSCAPED PORTION OF MY YARD, ROLLED OVER A RETAINING WALL AND CRASHED INTO MY HOUSE. AS A RESULT OF ME TRYING TO SAVE MY CHILDREN, I SUFFERED SIGNIFICANT INJURIES WHICH INCLUDED DIFFICULT SURGERY AND THE LOSS OF MOBILITY WITH POTENTIAL PERMANENT DEBILITATING INJURY. I AM STILL IN PHYSICAL THERAPY AND WILL BE FOR A WHILE. WE ALSO HAD A LOT OF PROPERTY DAMAGE. THE CAR WAS STILL IN PARK WHEN IT HIT THE HOUSE. THE TOW TRUCK DRIVERS HAD TO ENGAGE THE SHIFT LOCK RELEASE TO TAKE THE SHIFTER OUT OF PARK IN ORDER TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE SLIGHTLY TO POSITION IT TO BE PICKED UP BY THE TOW TRUCK. THE VEHICLE MOVED WHILE IN PARK AND NEVER CAME OUT OF PARK WHEN IT WENT DOWN THE DRIVEWAY. I HAVE INFORMED HONDA OF THIS DANGEROUS LIFE THREATENING DEFECT. HONDA INSPECTED THE VEHICLE ON MAY 23RD AT BRANNON HONDA IN BIRMINGHAM ALABAMA AND SAID NOTHING IS WRONG WITH MY VAN. I KNOW THEY ARE WRONG. THIS DEFECT COULD HURT OTHER PEOPLE OR KILL SOMEONE. I HOPE THE GOVERNMENT WILL THOROUGHLY INSPECT MY VEHICLE BEFORE SOMEBODY ELSE GETS HURT. MY VEHICLE IS AVAILABLE FOR IMMEDIATE INSPECTION. *TR
THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM WARNING CAME ON AFTER SEASONAL WHEEL/TIRE CHANGE BY TIRE DEALER. EACH TIME THAT THE TIRE DEALER TRIED TO PROGRAM THE HONDA SYSTEM IT MALFUNCTIONED AFTER APPROXIMATELY 24 HOURS OF OPERATION. ALL PARTS ARE OF HONDA MANUFACTURE. DURING THE PERIODS OF THAT TPMS FLASHED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL ONE HAS NO WAY OF KNOWING IF TIRES ARE SAFELY INFLATED. I WAS FORCED TO DRIVE OVER 200 MILES OVER 3 DAYS IN ORDER TO REACH A HONDA DEALER. THE DEALER "FOUND TPMS SENSORS WERE NOT PROGRAMMED TO VEHICLE... REPROGRAMMED SENSORS". I UNDERSTAND THAT HONDA IS UNIQUE AMONG AUTO MANUFACTURERS IN IT'S TPMS SYSTEM NOT BEING SERVICEABLE BY THE TIRE INDUSTRY THAT THE PUBLIC MUST RELY ON FOR SAFE OPERATION OF HONDA CARS. *TT
THIS VEHICLE HAS ISSUES WITH EXCESSIVE WHEEL VIBRATION WHEN BRAKING AT HIGH SPEEDS ATTRIBUTABLE TO PREMATURE FAILURE OR WARPING OF THE BRAKE ROTORS. I HAVE NEARLY 60,000 MILES ON MY VAN AND HAVE HAD TO REPLACE AND/OR TURN MY BRAKE ROTORS ABOUT EVERY 10,0000 TO 15,000 MILES. WHEN THE CONDITION OCCURS, IT SEEMS TO PROGRESS RAPIDLY TO THE POINT OF BECOMING DANGEROUS WHEN TRYING TO STOP AT HIGH SPEEDS. THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKES VIOLENTLY AND IT IS DIFFICULT TO CONTROL WHEN STOPPING. I HAVE SEARCHED ONLINE AND HAVE SEEN NUMEROUS ACCOUNTS OF OTHER PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. I SEARCHED FOR "HONDA ODYSSEY PULSATING BRAKES" AND GOT SEVERAL SITES LISTED. I ADDED MY COMPLAINT TO ONE OF THE SITES THAT HAD OVER 100 COMPLAINTS. HONDA SHOULD PAY TO HAVE THE ROTORS TURNED OR REPLACED AT REGULAR INTERVALS TO PREVENT THIS FROM OCCURRING SO FREQUENTLY. IT IS EITHER A DEFECT OR BAD DESIGN OR BOTH. *TR
THE MANUAL SLIDING DOORS (BOTH SIDES) ARE EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO OPEN. CHILDREN AND ADULTS ARE CONSTANTLY HAVING TO PULL WITH EXTREME FORCE TO OPEN THE DOORS FROM THE INSIDE AND THE OUTSIDE. FROM THE INSIDE, PASSENGERS HAVE TO LEAN INTO THE DOOR WHILE PULLING BACK TO OPEN IT. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES WITH THE PROBLEM, HOWEVER THEY SIMPLY SPRAY THE SEALS WHICH DOES NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. I ALSO CALLED HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY BASICALLY TOLD ME I SHOULD HAVE PURCHASED AN EX MODEL WITH AUTOMATIC DOORS. IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT, I SUSPECT PASSENGERS WILL HAVE MUCH DIFFICULTY EXITING THE REAR OF THIS VEHICLE. *TR
MY 6 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WAS SITTING IN THE 3RD ROW PASSENGER SIDE OF THE CAR. SHE WANTED TO GET A BLANKET OUT OF THE TRUNK WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY BECAUSE SHE WAS COLD. SHE UNBUCKLED AND TURNED TO LEAN OVER THE THIRD ROW SEAT INTO THE TRUNK. SHE INADVERTENTLY HAD HER NECK CAUGHT IN THE MIDDLE SEAT BELT WHICH WAS NOT BUCKLED BUT STILL SUSPENDED FROM THE MID-LINE OF THE CAR. THE SEAT BELT LOCKED IN PLACE AND BECAME LIKE A NOOSE AROUND HER NECK. MY 9 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER ATTEMPTED TO RELEASE THE MIDDLE SEAT BELT FROM THE BOTTOM. I WAS A PASSENGER IN THE CAR WHILE MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING. I CLIMBED INTO THE BACK SEAT, LIFTED HER UP AND CALLED TO MY HUSBAND TO PULL OVER. THE SEAT BELT KEPT TIGHTENING BECAUSE IT WAS INAPPROPRIATELY IN THE LOCK POSITION. THE MECHANISM TO RELEASE THE SEAT BELT WOULD NOT RELEASE, IT REQUIRES A SMALL TOOL. MY HUSBAND STOPPED THE CAR RAN AROUND BACK LIFTED MY DAUGHTER AND TRIED TO PULL DOWN ON THE SEAT BELT, BY THIS TIME SHE HAD BURST MULTIPLE BLOOD VESSELS IN HER FACE AND EYES. SHE WAS PASSING OUT. I KEEP A SMALL POCKET KNIFE IN THE CAR FOR EMERGENCIES AND WAS ABLE TO GET IT AND CUT THE SEAT BELT OFF FROM THE MID-LINE NEAR THE CEILING. MY DAUGHTER SUFFERED CONTUSIONS AROUND HER NECK, BROKEN BLOOD VESSELS IN HER FACE AND EYES AND A HOARSE VOICE FOR TWO DAYS. THANK THE LORD SHE IS YOUNG ENOUGH TO HAVE A SOFT AIRWAY OR SHE CERTAINLY WOULD HAVE SUFFOCATED. UNFORTUNATELY HONDA MOTORS WAS NOT VERY RESPONSIVE TO MY CALL ABOUT THIS POTENTIALLY FATAL DESIGN FLAW. I ALSO OBSERVED ON THE INTERNET THAT TWO OTHER PARENTS HAVE MADE THE EXACT SAME COMPLAINT WITH A 4 YEAR OLD AND 10 YEAR OLD CHILD TO CONSUMER REPORTS. I BELIEVE BECAUSE THE SEAT BELT COULD NOT BE RELEASED FROM THE BOTTOM (VIA AN ORANGE RELEASE BUTTON) THAT ALL CHILDREN ARE IN DANGER FROM THIS SEAT BELT. THE CAR SHOULD BE RECALLED AND THIS SEAT BELT MECHANISM CHANGED OUT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DECELERATING, THE VEHICLE SHOOK VIOLENTLY. 12/23/13-WHILE DRIVING ON I95 AT 65MPH THE VEHICLE ENGINE SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING BUT THE RADIO/LIGHTS REMAINED ON, VEHICLE BECAME DIFFICULT TO STEER AND BRAKES HAD TO BE PUSHED TO THE FLOOR, VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD APPROX 300 FEET LATER. VEHICLE RESTARTED AND WAS DRIVEN TO DEALERSHIP, DEALER STATED COULD NOT BE REPLICATED AND THAT FUEL SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE CLEANED, SERVICE PERFORMED AS SUGGESTED. 12/25/13- WHILE COMING TO A TRAFFIC LIGHT, ENGINE SHUT DOWN WITHOUT WARNING BUT RADIO/LIGHTS REMAINED ON, RESTARTED AND DROVE HOME. 12/26/13- WHILE APPROACHING STOP SIGN VEHICLE ENGINE FAILED BUT RADIO/LIGHTS REMAINED ON AS IN ACCESSORY MODE, STEERING AND BRAKING BECAME DIFFICULT TO CONTROL VEHICLE, THIS TIME THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND REMAINED LIT. VAN WAS TOWED TO DEALERSHIP TO BE REPAIRED. DEALER STATED NO ERROR CODE ALTHOUGH THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS VISIBLY ON, NO OBVIOUS REASON FOR THE VEHICLE TO DO THIS. DEALER SUGGESTED REPLACING ENGINE CONTROL MODULE AT THEIR EXPENSE. REPAIRS HAVE NOT BEEN COMPLETED YET AS THEY ARE WAITING ON THE PART TO ARRIVE. DURING THESE FAILURES THERE WAS NO WARNING AND LITTLE TIME TO REACT, THE VAN BECAME NEAR IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER AS IF THE STEERING WHEEL WAS LOCKED WHEN IN THE ANTI-THEFT MODE AFTER PARKING. THE VANS BRAKES ALTHOUGH PUSHED TO THE FLOOR DID NOT RESPOND IMMEDIATELY EVEN WHILE TRAVELING AT LOW SPEED. *TR
THIS VEHICLE USUALLY SURGES WHILE MOVING SLOWLY IN A LINE OF TRAFFIC. IT DOESN'T HAPPEN ALL THE TIME BUT IT MAKES FOR VERY NERVOUS DRIVING BECAUSE IT WILL CONTINUE HAPPENING UNTIL I'M AWAY FROM OTHER TRAFFIC AND MOVING AT A NORMAL SPEED. IT WILL ALSO HAPPEN WHEN I TURN INTO A PARKING AREA WHICH REQUIRES GOING UP AN INCLINE. IF IT'S VERY STEEP , I MAY SPIN MY TIRES NOT EXPECTING THE SUDDEN ACCELERATION. THIS SURGE SEEMS TO ME AS IF THE CARBURETOR FUEL BOWL IS EMPTY WHILE IDLING AND WHEN IT REFILLS, BY MY PRESSING ON THE GAS PEDAL, IT CAUSES THE CAR TO LUNGE AHEAD. I HAVE ASKED MY LOCAL HONDA DEALER IF HE HAS A SOLUTION TO THIS HAZARD AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THIS SOMETHING THAT THE " HONDA MANUFACTURER HAS INSTALLED" AND THAT MY COMPLAINT IS NOT THE FIRST THEY HAVE HEARD OF THIS HAPPENING. IF THIS IS TRUE AND I DOUBT IT, THEN I FEEL I CAN'T LET MY WIFE DRIVE THE CAR AND I DON'T FEEL AT ALL SAFE DRIVING IT IN TRAFFIC. PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT CAN BE DONE TO CORRECT THIS ASAP. I PURCHASED THIS CAR USED IN SEPT./ 13 AND WASN'T TOLD OF ANYTHING WRONG. I WAS ADVISED TO USE CHEVRON FOR THE NEXT FILL-UP. IT DIDN'T IMPROVE AND I TRIED INJECTOR FLUIDS WITH NO IMPROVEMENT. I'M QUITE SURE THE SELLING DEALER WONT GIVE ME SATISFACTION ESPECIALLY SINCE THERE WAS A TRADE-IN INVOLVED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE BRAKES FAILED CAUSING AN INCREASE IN STOPPING DISTANCE AND TIME. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000. UPDATED 11/6/13 *CN THE CONSUMER STATED DURING A RECENT DRIVE DOWN THE MOUNTAIN HILL, THE BRAKES BEGAN VIBRATING. WITH THE BRAKES VIOLENTLY PULSATING, THEY FAILED TO EFFECTIVELY SLOW THE CAR DOWN. THE FRONT BRAKE VIBRATION OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE ON MOUNTAIN ROADS. SEVERAL AUTO MECHANICS INCLUDING THE DEALER, GAVE A GENERAL EXPLANATION THAT HEAT BUILD-UP WARPED THE BRAKE DISCS AND CAUSED THE VIBRATION. IT WAS ALSO SUGGESTED WHEN TRAVELING DOWN STEEP MOUNTAIN ROADS, THE DRIVER SHOULD SWITCH TO 3RD GEAR AND EASE OFF THE ACCELERATOR ALLOWING THE ENGINE TO HELP REDUCE SPEED. UPDATED 11/14/13
WE BOUGHT THE VEHICLE BRAND NEW IN 2011. WE FIRST EXPERIENCED THE PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES IN APRIL 2012 (AT 19,327 MILES) WHEN HEAVY VIBRATION WAS FELT DURING BRAKING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HONDA FOR INSPECTION, DETERMINED THE ROTORS WERE WARPED. NEW PADS WERE REPLACED AND ROTORS RESURFACED. EIGHT MONTHS LATER (AT 30,593 MILES), SAME ISSUE OCCURRED AGAIN. ROTORS WERE WARPED FOR UNKNOWN REASON; NECESSITATING A RESURFACING AND REPLACEMENT OF BRAKE PADS FOR THE SECOND TIME. SEVEN MONTHS AFTER SECOND VISIT (AT 38,841 MILES), THE SAME ISSUE OCCURRED FOR THE THIRD TIME - THE ROTORS WERE FOUND WARPED AGAIN. LIKE THE PREVIOUS VISITS, THE ADVISER WAS NOT ABLE TO ARTICULATE THE CAUSE OF THE ISSUE, ONLY THIS TIME BLAMED MY DRIVING BEHAVIOR. I TOLD THE ADVISER I HAVE OTHER VEHICLE WHICH IS DRIVEN AND HANDLED IN THE SAME WAY BUT DOES NOT NEED CONSTANT BRAKE SERVICES LIKE THE ODYSSEY (3 TIMES IN 16 MONTHS). HE THEN CHANGE HIS THEORY AND CONCLUDED THAT I WASN'T DRIVING ENOUGH - NOT ALLOWING THE PADS TO PROPERLY SYNC WITH THE ROTORS, AND SUGGESTED I SHOULD DRIVE THE VEHICLE MORE. TO MAKE MATTER WORSE, I WAS FORCED BY THE ADVISER TO AGREE THAT THE DEALER WILL NOT BE WARRANTING ANY MORE FRONT BRAKE JOB BECAUSE I WASN'T DRIVING ENOUGH AND THAT THE ISSUE COULD REAPPEAR AGAIN 6 MONTHS LATER. I CONTACTED AMERICA HONDA BUT THEY OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE, SINCE THEY INDICATED THERE WERE NO KNOWN ISSUE FILED. I FEEL THE VEHICLE WAS POORLY MADE OR ASSEMBLED THUS CREATING THE ABOVE ISSUE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE INTERMITTENTLY STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 25,000. .... UPDATED 10-17-13 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED ON PARTICULAR OCCASION THE VEHICLE, WHILE IN MOTION, STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE STEERING WHEEL AND BRAKES LOCKED UP. THE CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO RESTART IT BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED ABOUT ONE MILE LATER. EACH TIME THE FAILURE OCCURRED THE 15% OIL INDICATOR LIGHT APPEARED. *JS
ON 9/3/13, WHILE DRIVING FIVE CHILDREN TO SCHOOL IN OUR LEASED 2011 HONDA ODYSSEY, THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN ABRUPTLY AND WITHOUT WARNING WHILE I WAS TURNING THROUGH A MAJOR 4-WAY INTERSECTION. THE STEERING WHEEL AND BRAKES IMMEDIATELY LOCKED, LEAVING ME COMPLETELY PARALYZED AND UNABLE TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE. THE ODYSSEY COASTED INTO A YARD, NARROWLY MISSING A LARGE POLE, WHERE I WAS ABLE TO PLACE IT INTO PARK AND RESTART IT. I DROVE BACK ONTO THE STREET AND EXERCISED GREAT CAUTION TO PROCEED THE SHORT DISTANCE TO SCHOOL. APPROXIMATELY ONE MILE LATER, THE ENGINE COMPLETELY SHUT OFF ONCE AGAIN. THIS HAS OCCURRED A TOTAL OF 5 TIMES OVER THE PAST YEAR (TWICE WHILE STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT AND THREE TIMES WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION - TWICE ON CITY STREETS AND ONCE ON THE HIGHWAY). I DELIVERED THE VEHICLE TO OUR LEASING DEALER, GANLEY HONDA IN NORTH OLMSTED, OHIO, ON 9/3/13 FOR SERVICE, WHERE IT REMAINS TO THIS DAY. GANLEY HONDA'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT HAS BEEN UNABLE TO IDENTIFY AND/OR RESOLVE THE CAUSE OF THE ENGINE PROBLEM. THEY HAVE INDICATED THAT UNLESS THEY HAVE "EVIDENCE" OF THE MALFUNCTION, THE VEHICLE IS FINE AND SAFE TO DRIVE. SINCE THEIR COMPUTERS HAVE GENERATED NO ERROR CODES AND ROAD TESTS HAVE NOT REPLICATED THE POTENTIALLY LATENT MALFUNCTION, THEY MAINTAIN THAT THERE IS NO PROBLEM. THEY ARE NOW READY TO RETURN THE VEHICLE TO US FOR THE DURATION OF OUR LEASE (WE HAVE FIVE MONTHS REMAINING). THIS IS THE FIFTH VEHICLE OVER THE PAST 16+ YEARS THAT WE HAVE PURCHASED THROUGH THIS DEALERSHIP. GIVEN THE ENGINE'S PATTERN OF SHUTTING DOWN UNEXPECTEDLY AND WITHOUT WARNING, LEADING TO THE STEERING WHEEL AND BRAKES LOCKING, WE FEEL THE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND ARE UNWILLING TO PLACE OURSELVES OR OUR CHILDREN INTO IT UNLESS THE CAUSE OF THE ENGINE MALFUNCTION IS IDENTIFIED AND THE PROBLEM IS RESOLVED. *TR
AFTER PURCHASING A "CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED" 2011 ODYSSEY MINI-VAN FROM JACK ELLENA HONDA IN LAWRENCE KS, WE DISCOVERED THAT THE CAPTAIN'S SEATS IN THE SECOND ROW WERE EITHER DEFECTIVE OR NOT INSTALLED PROPERLY BY THE DEALER. WE DISCOVERED THIS WHEN, 5 MONTHS LATER, WE WERE INVOLVED IN A COLLISION AND THE CAPTAIN'S SEATS THAT HOLD OUR CHILDREN CAME COMPLETELY DETACHED. OUR SON WAS THROWN INTO THE BACK OF THE DRIVER'S SEAT AND SUFFERED INJURIES TO HIS FACE AND BODY. LACERATIONS ON HIS FACE AND BRUISING ON HIS BODY. WE HAVE CONCERNS THAT EITHER THE CAPTAIN'S CHAIRS IN THIS MODEL ARE DEFECTIVE OR THE CERTIFICATION PROCESS FOR PRE-OWNED HONDA VEHICLES IS EITHER NOT FOLLOWED BY DEALERS OR THE PROCESS EXCLUDES INSTALLING THE SEATS PROPERLY. *TR
WHILE SLOWING DOWN FOR A TRAFFIC LIGHT, ENGINE WAS RUNNING ROUGH AND MISFIRING. CEL WAS FLASHING AND CHECK VSA AND EMISSIONS CAME ON. FOUND OUT ENGINE OIL LEVEL WAS LITERALLY ZERO. CALLED HONDA. LATER FOUND OUT THERE IS A SERVICE BULLETIN FOR THIS ISSUE. TOOK IT TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY FOLLOWED TSB11-033. HONDA REP CALLED BACK AND SAID THEY NEED TO MONITOR ENGINE OIL LEVEL AND TOLD ME TO BRING IT BACK IN 1000 MILES TO CHECK OIL LEVEL. DID THAT AT 50000 MILES AND DEALER FOUND NORMAL. AGAIN AT 53000 MILES THE PROBLEM REPEATED TODAY SEP 8, 2013. WILL BE CALLING HONDA TODAY OR MONDAY. SEEMS LIKE THE ISSUE MAY BE WITH VCM. VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS HONDA VEHICLE.
WHEN WE PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE THE DEALER TOLD US THE ODYSSEY HAS A NEW AND IMPROVED BREAKING SYSTEM. SIX MONTHS AFTER WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE WE HAD A WOBBLE WHEN BREAKING (8,000 MI). WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND WERE TOLD NOTHING WAS WRONG. THE ISSUE CONTINUED TO GET WORSE AND WE RETURNED AGAIN AT 20,000 MILES. AT THAT POINT WE WERE TOLD THE ROTORS WERE WARPED BUT IT IS AN "ANNOYANCE" AND NOT A SAFETY ISSUE. NOW AT 38,000 MILES THE VEHICLE SHAKES VIOLENTLY WHEN BREAKING. I AM TOLD ITS MY DRIVING HABITS THAT CAUSED THIS. I HAVE NEVER HAD ANOTHER CAR WITH BREAK ISSUES PRIOR TOT 50,000 MILES. THE DEALER WANTS $350 TO FIX WITH NO GUARANTEE THE ISSUE WILL NOT OCCUR IN ANOTHER 8K MILES.

THE 2011 HONDA ODYSSEY BRAKES FAILED WHEN APPLIED WHEN THE VAN WAS PLACED IN REVERSE. THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR ON APPLICATION OF THE BRAKES AND DID NOT RETURN BACK. AS THE PEDAL DID NOT RETURN BACK WAS UNABLE TO PUMP THE BRAKE TO BUILD ANY HYDRAULIC PRESSURE. THE VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT TO A HALT USING THE PARKING BRAKE. SUBSEQUENTLY THE BRAKES STARTED WORKING AGAIN. THE DEALERSHIP ON INSPECTION REPORTS A BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER FAILURE. HONDA WHEN CONTACTED DIRECTLY DOES NOT ACKNOWLEDGE ANY SUCH PRIOR INCIDENT REPORTS. HOWEVER AT LEAST TWO SUCH FAILURES HAVE BEEN REPORTED ON THE SAME MAKE, MODEL YEAR BY OTHER OWNERS ON HONDA OWNER FORUMS. I HUMBLY REQUEST THAT YOU INVESTIGATE THIS ISSUE BEFORE ANY FATALITIES OCCUR. SIR / MADAM: I BOUGHT A 2011 HONDA ODYSSEY TOURING ELITE, IN DECEMBER, 2010. IT HAS A DEFECTIVE FRONT BRAKE SYSTEM WHICH CAUSES THE FRONT ROTORS TO WARP AND THE BRAKE PADS TO GLAZE OVER FROM OVERHEATING; CAUSING ALL THESE COMPONENTS TO PREMATURELY WARE OUT. I BELIEVE ALL HONDA ODYSSEY'S HAVE THIS SAME PROBLEM. HONDA SAYS THE FRONT ROTORS ONLY HAVE A 12,000 MILE WARRANTY, SINCE IT IS A WEAR ITEM, I AM RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COST OF ALL REPAIRS. ON TWO (2) OCCASIONS, WHILE TRAVELING ON THE US INTERSTATE HIGHWAYS, DOWN STEEP MOUNTAINS IN COLORADO AND NORTH CAROLINA, THE STEERING WHEEL STARTED SHAKING 3 INCHES ' WHICH IS VERY FRIGHTENING ' SO MUCH SO, I STARTED LOOKING FOR THE 'RUNAWAY TRUCK RAMP'! THE VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAS APPROXIMATELY 46,000 MILES AND HAS HAD TWO (2) SETS OF FRONT ROTORS INSTALLED, THE CURRENT ROTORS HAVE BEEN TURNED AT LEAST THREE (3) TIMES, AND THREE (3) SETS OF FRONT BRAKE PADS. THE FRONT END CURRENTLY SHAKES WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED BECAUSE THE ROTORS ARE WARPED AGAIN BUT THE DEALER WANTS TO WAIT LONGER BEFORE TURNING THEM (THEY ARE ALMOST TO THE MINIMUM ROTOR THICKNESS). I HAVE DOCUMENTED THESE PROBLEMS BY EMAIL AND IN PERSON WITH THE LOCAL HONDA DEALER, HONDA MANUFACTURING AND HONDA USA. HONDA'S DISTRICT CUSTOMER SERVICE MANAGER DROVE THE VEHICLE AT 46,073 MILES AND ACKNOWLEDGED THE FRONT ROTORS WERE WARPED. HOWEVER, HONDA DENIES THERE IS A FRONT BRAKE PROBLEM. EVERY OTHER AUTOMOBILE I HAVE EVER OWNED HAS NOT REQUIRED BRAKE PADS BEFORE 50,000 PLUS MILES, NOR NEW ROTORS BEFORE 100,000 PLUS MILES. THERE ARE SEVERAL OTHER NON-SAFETY RELATED ISSUES WITH THIS VEHICLE. ANY AND ALL EMAILS AND SERVICE RECORDS ARE AVAILABLE FOR REVIEW. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO DISCUSS THIS MATTER PLEASE DO NOT HESITATE TO CALL. *TR
WHEN USING BRAKES TO DECELERATE FROM SPEEDS OVER 45 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL BEGINS TO VIBRATE AND SHAKE. AN INITIAL CALL TO THE DEALER SAID THAT DUE TO EXCESSIVE HEAT AND WEAR, THE ROTORS MAY BE WARPED AND WAS TOLD TO BRING IT IN TO GET ROTORS RESURFACED. I ASKED WHETHER THIS WAS COMMON AT ABOUT 16000 MILES. DEALER TOLD ME THAT SHOULDN'T BE THE CASE UNTIL AROUND 45,000-75,000 MILES. MY WIFE DRIVES THE VEHICLE UNDER "NORMAL" CONDITIONS (DRIVING KIDS TO SCHOOL, ETC.) AND DOES NOT BREAK EXCESSIVELY OR SUDDENLY. *TR
THE TPMS CANNOT BE RESET, ALL TIRES CHECK AND THE ALARM STILL ON. *TR
SHAKES WHEN BRAKING AT SPEEDS OVER 45 MPH, DRASTICALLY INCREASING 45-0 MPH STOPPING DISTANCE, ROTORS HAVE BEEN RESURFACED ONCE AND PADS REPLACED ALREADY AT APPROXIMATELY 13000 MILES. AT 25968 ROTORS NEED TO BE RESURFACED AGAIN, PADS ABOUT 50%, HONDA ADVISES THAT ROTORS WILL NEED TO BE RESURFACED ABOUT EVERY 12000-13000 MILES TO MAINTAIN SAFE DRIVING CONDITIONS. NO MOUNTAINOUS DRIVING, OR HARD BREAKING, NEVER HAD TO RESURFACE OR REPLACE ROTORS ON ANY OF MY EIGHT PREVIOUS VEHICLES, INCLUDING A MINI VAN. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH THE STEERING BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY. AFTER STOPPING FOR GAS AND LETTING THE BRAKES COOL OFF THE SHAKING CEASED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHO DECIDED TO REPLACED THE ROTORS AFTER HAVING THEM ROTATED THREE PREVIOUS VISITS. THEY CONTINUE TO WARP AND CAUSE THE SHAKING IN THE STEERING. THE FRONT BRAKES HAD BEEN REPLACED THREE TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 36,000.
MANUAL SLIDING DOORS (BOTH SIDES), ARE EXTREMELY HARD FOR ADULTS AND CHILDREN TO OPEN, EITHER FROM INSIDE THE CAR OR OUTSIDE THE CAR. IN CASE OF AN ACCIDENT, IT WOULD BE VERY DIFFICULT/IMPOSSIBLE FOR MY CHILDREN TO OPEN THE DOORS TO EXIT THE VEHICLE WITHOUT ANY HELP. MANY ADULTS WOULD EXPERIENCE A SIMILAR PROBLEM. I HAVE TO CONSTANTLY OPEN THE DOORS FOR PEOPLE. FROM THE INSIDE, YOU NEED TO PULL THE HANDLE WHILE PUSHING OUT ON THE DOOR, AND ALSO PULLING TOWARDS THE BACK. THE SLIDING DOORS DO NOT "POP-OUT DISENGAGE" LIKE ALL OTHER MANUAL SLIDING DOORS I'VE OPERATED. *TR

NEW 2011 HONDA ODYSSEY TOURING MODEL HAD A SNOWFLAKE LIKE CRACK THE SIZE OF A HALF-DOLLAR IN PASSENGER SIDE TOP CORNER OF WINDSHIELD. MY HONDA ODYSSEY HAS "STALLED" ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. IT HAPPENS MOST OFTEN WHEN YOU ARE SLOWING DOWN TO NEAR STOP AND THEN NEED TO RAPIDLY ACCELERATE (IE, YOU ARE APPROACHING A RED LIGHT THAT THEN TURNS GREEN). IT OFTEN PAUSES AND STUTTERS (ALMOST LIKE IT JUMPS) BEFORE ACTUALLY ACCELERATING. IT HAS NEVER COMPLETELY CUT OFF, IT JUST FEELS LIKE IT IS GOING TOO. THIS PROBLEM ALWAYS OCCURS ON AN INCLINE AS WELL. FOR EXAMPLE, IF MUST STOP ON A HILL AND THEN ACCELERATE - IT FEELS LIKE IT WILL MOST CERTAINLY CUT OFF BEFORE RAPIDLY STARTING TO ACCELERATE SEVERAL SECONDS LATER. ONE TIME, SEVERAL MONTHS AGO, I ACTUALLY HAD TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED IN BECAUSE IT WAS DOING IT SO MUCH AND I WAS AFRAID TO DRIVE IT ON THE HIGHWAY. I WAS TOLD BY THE HONDA DEALER THAT IT WAS A SPARK PLUG PROBLEM (CORRODED OR SOMETHING) AND THESE WERE REPLACED. HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM HAS PERSISTED. VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY IN THE SHOP AGAIN BECAUSE IT IS NOW OCCURRING EVERY SINGLE TIME I DRIVE IT. CURRENTLY, HAVE ABOUT 40,000 MILES ON IT. *TR
I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING HESITATION IN ACCELERATION FROM A STOP THROUGH THIRD GEAR AT LOW SPEEDS. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO HONDA DEALERSHIP AND THEY HAD NOT HEARD OF THE PROBLEM AND WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE SEVERITY OF MY ISSUE BUT DID NOTICE HESITATION. MANAGER SAID HE WOULD SPEAK TO CORPORATE REPRESENTATIVE. YESTERDAY, WHILE TAKING A LEFT TO CROSS HIGHWAY, THE VEHICLE HAD TROUBLE ACCELERATING TO CROSS HIGHWAY WITH APPROACHING VEHICLES TRAVELING 65 MILES PER HOUR. MY FRIEND AND HER CHILD WERE IN THE VAN ALONG WITH ONE OF MY CHILDREN. I HAVE NOT LOOKED AT THIS AS A SAFETY ISSUE UNTIL YESTERDAY BUT AM NOW VERY CONCERNED BECAUSE I LIVE OFF THIS BUSY HIGHWAY AND REGULARLY MAKE THIS TURN OFTEN WITH THREE OR MORE CHILDREN. *TR
NOTICED WHEN DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED AND THEN HAVING TO BRAKE ABRUPTLY THERE WOULD A PULSATION AND THE STEERING WOULD START SHUTTERING. DEALER DIAGNOSED IT AS UNEVEN BRAKE PAD WEAR DUE WARPED ROTORS. COST TO REPLACE PADS AND RESURFACE ROTORS, WITH TAX, WAS $219.34. WAS ADVISED THAT ROTORS COULD BE RESURFACED ONE MORE TIME. *TR
WE PURCHASED A BRAND NEW VAN WITH CONTINENTAL CONTIPRO CONTACT TIRES (BRAND NEW). AFTER ABOUT 15,000 MILES WE NOTICED THE TIRES BECOMING BRITTLE AND BLISTERING. SEVERAL TIRES WERE LOSING AIR. WE BROUGHT IT TO A MECHANIC FOR A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE AND WHEN IT WAS PUT ON THE LIFT HE FOUND 6 PLACES THAT SMALL PEBBLES HAD ACTUALLY PUNCTURED THE TIRE AND CREATED HOLES THAT HAD TO BE PLUGGED TO DRIVE IT SAFELY HOME. THE MECHANIC INFORMED US THAT THE TIRES WERE VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE ON BECAUSE THEY WERE LITERALLY FALLING APART, BLISTERING, AND BEING PUNCTURED BY SMALL PEBBLES. AFTER SPEAKING TO CONTINENTAL TIRE COMPANY THEY INFORMED ME THAT BECAUSE I PLUGGED THE TIRES THE WARRANTY WAS VOID AND THE WARRANTY ONLY COVERED DEFECTIVE TIRES. IN THE OPINION OF THE MECHANIC, THEY ARE DEFECTIVE TIRES. WE HAVE BEEN LEFT TO PAY FOR BRAND NEW TIRES FOR OUR VAN THAT WAS BOUGHT BRAND NEW SO WE CAN SAFELY DRIVE OUR FAMILY VAN. *JS
CAR FAILED TO START FOR OVER 3 HOURS. *TR
I GET A MAJOR DEAD SPOT ON ATTEMPTED ACCELERATION MOVING FROM A SLOWDOWN (AS TOWARD A SIGNAL) TOWARD ACCELERATION (AS THE SIGNAL CHANGES) AT ABOUT 5 -10 MPH. THIS IS CONSISTENT. I CAN STEP HARD ON THE GAS OR PUMP THE ACCELERATOR AND GET NO RESPONSE FOR AT LEAST 2 SECONDS. IT SEEMS LIKE IF YOU HIT THE BRAKE, YOU CANNOT USE THE ACCELERATOR UNLESS IT IS FULLY RESET. I AM THINKING IT IS A SOFTWARE PROBLEM. THE INJURY RISK IS YOU HIT THE ACCELERATOR AND THE CAR CANNOT GET OUT OF A DANGEROUS SITUATION. *TR
2011 HONDA ODYSSEY. CONSUMER STATES PROBLEM WITH VEHICLE ENGINE CONCERNING OIL LEAK AND BURNING SMELL *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED AT APPROXIMATELY 6,000 HE BEGAN TO SMELL AN ODOR OF BURNT OIL WHEN PARKED WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING. THE SMELL WAS COMING THROUGH THE AIR VENTS. THE CONSUMER REPORTED IT TO THE DEALER, WHERE THEY FOUND A LOOSE OIL FILTER. WITHIN A DAY, THE CONSUMER SMELLED THE BURNT OIL ODOR AGAIN. THE CONSUMER WENT TO ANOTHER DEALER, WHERE THEY PLACED UV DYE IN THE ENGINE TO HELP DETERMINE THE LOCATION OF THE LEAK. THEY DETERMINED IT WAS CAUSED BY AN OIL DRAIN BOLT NOT BEING TIGHTENED TO THE MANUFACTURERS SPECIFICATIONS. SOON AFTER THE APPOINTMENT, THE SMELL RETURNED, AND THE NEXT MORNING THERE WAS A SMALL AMOUNT OF OIL ON THE GARAGE FLOOR UNDER THE ENGINE. THE DEALER REPLACED THE OIL PAN, GASKET, CRANKSHAFT AND MAIN BEARING BOLT. ALL TO NO AVAIL. THE DEALER STATED WHATEVER THE CAUSE, THE SMELL WAS FROM OIL LEAKING ONTO THE HOT EXHAUST PIPE. IN FACT, BURNT OIL RESIDUE WAS FOUND ON MULTIPLE PLACES ALONG THE EXHAUST PIPE. THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER FIVE TIMES IN AN ATTEMPT TO FIX THE PROBLEM. *JB

AS SOON AS THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS TO THE SECOND GEAR, THE ENTIRE CAR WILL SHUDDER. SAME THING HAPPENS OFTEN ON THE THIRD, FOURTH, AND FIFTH. ANOTHER THING THAT HAPPENS ON THE TRANSMISSION IS THAT WHEN IT'S IN OVERDRIVE IN THE SIXTH GEAR, THE RPM WILL JUMP ABOUT A HUNDRED OR TWO, UP AND DOWN, RANDOMELY. WHEN IT'S ALSO IN OVERDRIVE, IT MAKES A WEIRD NOISE. IN THE CABIN, IT SOUNDS LIKE AN EXTREME WIND NOISE, BUT YOU CAN TELL THAT IT'S COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION BECAUSE IT HAPPENS EVERYTIME I GIVE THE CAR SOME GAS. SOME OTHER PEOPLE ARE ALSO HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AS I'M HAVING BECAUSE PEOPLE ON THE FORUM ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE.
A LOOSE RATTLING SOUND BEGAN TO GET MUCH MORE PRONOUNCED AND LOUDER COMING FROM THE REAR PASSENGER AREA. I DETERMINED IT WASN'T A LOOSE/UNLATCHED DOOR, TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER. UPON INSPECTION THEY FOUND THAT THE REAR SHOCK ABSORBER HAD LOST ALL OF ITS FLUID, REDUCING ITS OPERATION TO NEAR 0%. IF THIS HAD OCCURRED ON A LONG TRIP (APPROX 200-400 MILES, THE AMOUNT COVERED IN ABOUT A WEEK) THIS LACK OF WHEEL CONTROL COULD HAVE BEEN DISASTROUS. THIS LOUD RATTLING MASKED ANOTHER SIMILAR PROBLEM WITH THE DRIVERS SIDE FRONT STRUT; THIS IS AN EVEN GREATER SAFETY ISSUE CONCERNING CONTROLLING THE CAR. BOTH STRUT AND SHOCK WERE REPLACED BY THE DEALER. A LESS PERCEPTIVE OR ATTENTIVE DRIVER MIGHT HAVE MISSED THESE TELLTALE INDICATORS OF SOME PART FAILURE, WHICH COULD LEAD TO LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE.. *TR

2011 HONDA ODYSSEY TOURING - THE DRIVER SIDE SMALL WINDOW FORWARD OF THE DRIVER DOOR APPEARS TO NOT BE SEALED CORRECTLY. WHEN DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS ON WINDY DAYS, THERE IS SIGNIFICANT AIR NOISE IN THE CABIN OF THE CAR. THE NOISE IS SO PRONOUNCED THAT IT OFTEN SOUNDS AS THOUGH A WINDOW IN THE CAR IS CRACKED OPEN. THE SOUND WAS FIRST NOISED THE DAY DELIVERY WAS TAKEN ON THE CAR. THIS IS MY 4TH HONDA ODYSSEY AND 6TH HONDA PRODUCT OWNED BY ME. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I EVER HEARD A NOISE LIKE THIS. THE HEADLIGHTS ON THE ODYSSEY ILLUMINATE TOO CLOSE TO THE CAR AND NOT FAR ENOUGH DOWN THE ROAD TO SEE AND IT EXASPERATED ON HILLS GOING DOWN WHERE YOU REALLY CAN'T SEE AHEAD OF YOUR VEHICLE. AT NIGHT THERE IS A SHARP BLACK LINE ON THE WIND SHIELD WHERE THE LIGHTS STOP ILLUMINATING ABOVE THE LINE. I HAVE TO BEND MY HEAD SIDE WAYS TO SEE UNDER THE BLACK LINE WHERE THE LIGHT IS. VERY UNSAFE. I ASKED THE HONDA DEALER ABOUT IT AND THEY SAID THAT THE LIGHTS WERE AT THE CORRECT LEVEL. I TOLD THEM I CAN'T SEE UNLESS I BEND MY HEAD SIDE WAYS TO SEE UNDER THE BLACK LINE WHERE THE LIGHT ILLUMINATES THE ROAD. THEY RAISED THE LIGHTS UP FOR ME A BIT AND NOW EVERYONE FLASHES THEIR LIGHTS AT ME INDICATING MY LIGHTS ARE TOO BRIGHT. IT IS A DISASTER WAITING TO HAPPEN. *TR

WHILE TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY (I ESTIMATE SPEED AT 65-70), IT WOULD SEEM THAT THE LEFT FRONT TIRE STRUCK AN OBJECT IN THE ROADWAY. THE OBJECT LEFT A SMALL SCRATCH ON THE FRONT BUMPER, SEVERED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE CABLE AND MAY HAVE SCRATCHED THE SHIELD ON THE GAS TANK. THERE WAS NO GROSSLY OBVIOUS DEFORMITY OF THE WHEEL OR CLEAR DAMAGE TO TIRE. THE IMPACT ON THE UNDERCARRIAGE AND FRONT END IS NOT YET CLEAR, AS THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT THE SHOP. DESPITE THE MILD TO MODERATE NATURE OF THE IMPACT, THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG AND THE LEFT CURTAIN AIRBAG DEPLOYED. THANKFULLY, THERE WERE NO INJURIES HOWEVER, IT IS MY PERCEPTION THAT THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED INAPPROPRIATELY, CAUSING A FAIR DEGREE OF ALARM AND EXTENSIVE INTERIOR DAMAGE TO THE VAN. *KB
THE VAN HAS, ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS (APPROX 1 PER 1000 MILES) FAILED TO ACCELERATE ON COMMAND, IN FACT, IT ACTUALLY SEEMS TO STALL OUT FOR 1 TO 5 SECONDS. THE LONGER IT STALLS OUT, THE MORE EXPLOSIVE THE ACCELERATION, ONCE IT COMES. THIS CONDITION SEEMS TO CROP UP MOST OFTEN JUST AFTER SLACKING OFF ON THE GAS. FOR EXAMPLE: IN TRAFFIC, IF I AND HAVE TAKEN MY FOOT OFF THE GAS TO MAINTAIN SPACE FROM THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME, THEN TRY TO ACCELERATE TO GET INTO AN OPENING IN THE ADJACENT LANE, THE VAN JUST HANGS THERE, AS IF THE IGNITION HAS BEEN TURNED OFF. THEN SUDDENLY, THE CAR RESPONDS TO THE ACCELERATOR WITH A JERK. MY THEORY IS THAT IT HAS TO DO WITH THE FUEL CONSERVATION SYSTEM THAT TURNS VARIOUS NUMBERS OF CYLINDERS OFF AND ON, DEPENDING ON DEMAND. I HAVE REPORTED THIS TO THE DEALER WHO SOLD THIS TO ME AND THEY ASKED ME IF I COULD TAKE IT OUT FOR A DRIVE AND DUPLICATE IT FOR THEM. I TOLD THEM IT WOULD BE OKAY IF THEY WERE WILLING TO PAY FOR THE GAS BECAUSE I CAN'T "MAKE" IT DO IT ON COMMAND. I'VE JUST BECOME AWARE THAT WHAT I DESCRIBE IS THE MOST COMMON CIRCUMSTANCE: STEADY OR SLIGHT ACCELERATION FOLLOWED BY SLACKING OFF, FOLLOWED BY AN ATTEMPT AT RAPID ACCELERATION. THE ATTEMPT AT RAPID ACCELERATION RESULTS IN HESITATION AND THEN RAPID ACCELERATION, EITHER OF WHICH, COULD CREATE THE SITUATION FOR AN ACCIDENT. *TR
CAR FAILED TO RESPOND TO KEYPAD LOCK TRANSMITTER, AND THEN FAILED TO START 3 CONSECUTIVE ATTEMPTS. THIS SAME CAR'S PREVIOUS BATTERY DIED COMPLETELY APPROXIMATELY 4 WEEKS AFTER INITIAL PURCHASE AND WAS REPLACED JUST 4 MONTHS AGO. CAR HAS ALSO HAD NUMEROUS INCIDENTS WHERE VOICE RECOGNITION AND CELLPHONE BLU-RAY CONNECTION ACTED ERRATICALLY OR FAILED COMPLETELY. *TR
BOUGHT THE ODYSSEY 2011 EXL AND DROVE FOR 100 MILES. THEN THE TPMS LIGHTS CAME ON AND STAYED ON FOR EVER. TAKEN AN APPOINT WITH HONDA SERVICE AND THEY WOULD LIKE TO ADJUST THE TIRE PRESSURE. STILL NEED TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER AND SEE WHAT THEY SAY. *TR
BATTERY WARNING LIGHT CONTINUALLY LIGHTS. DEALER INDICATES THAT WE NEED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE MORE. ALL INTERIOR LIGHTS SHUT OFF. DEALER HAS BEEN USELESS. HONDA REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT A HUMMING NOISE WAS HEARD COMING FROM THE ENGINE WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 68 AND 73 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, WHERE THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 29,150.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED WHEN HE OPENED THE PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR, BUT THE DOOR DID NOT LATCH IN THE OPEN POSITION. AS A RESULT, THE DOOR BEGAN TO SHUT UNEXPECTEDLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE HAD SINCE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE FAILURES OCCURRED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED ON AN INCLINE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 4,000.
2011 HONDA ODYSSEY EX-L WITH 300 MILES ON IT, STUMBLES/HESITATES AT LOW SPEEDS (15-20 MPH) WHEN LIGHT THROTTLE APPLIED WITH TRANSMISSION IN "D" ON A SLIGHT INCLINE. HONDA DEALER IN BOONE, NC COULD NOT RESOLVE PROBLEM. ON 7-25-2011. OWNER DROVE CAR FROM DEALER AND PROBLEM HAPPENED THREE MORE TIMES. IMMEDIATELY RETURNED CAR TO DEALER BUT DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE PROBLEM BUT SAID THEY WOULD CONTACT HONDA FOR ADVICE. THIS PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED SIX TIMES SINCE NEW AND CAR HAS JUST 525 MILES ON IT AND GIVES DRIVER SENSATION THAT ENGINE HAS STALLED. *TR
BOUGHT A 2011 HONDA ODYSSEY TOURING ELITE IN 3/2011. NOW 4 MONTHS LATER I AM GETTING THE "BATTERY CHARGE LOW" WARNING. HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND SPOKE TO THEM. THEY STATE IT'S NOT A PROBLEM AND I NEED TO DRIVE THE CAR MORE. IT IS CONCERNING THAT THE CAR SHUTS THE DOME LIGHTS OFF, EVEN THE DASH LIGHTS OFF AUTOMATICALLY. THIS IS A SUPPOSED SAFETY ITEM OF THE CAR THAT I AM TO IGNORE? I AM DEEPLY CONCERNED REGARDING THIS ISSUE. FIRST, HONDA IS NOT ACKNOWLEDGING THE SERIOUSNESS OF THIS -- "IGNORE IT. IT'S NOT A PROBLEM." SECOND, THIS ISSUE, I FEEL, IS POTENTIALLY PLACING MY FAMILY IN DANGER IF THE BATTERY CANNOT STAY CHARGED. FINALLY, THIS IS NOT AN INFREQUENT ISSUE AS EVIDENCED BY THE NUMBER OF POSTS/COMPLAINTS ON THE NHTSA WEBSITE AND OTHER FORUMS ON THE WEB (WWW.ODYCLUB.COM) YET HONDA CONTINUES NOT TO PUT OUT A TSB REGARDING THIS PROBLEM. THE COMPLAINTS CONTINUE AND NO ACTION IS BEING TAKEN BY HONDA TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THIS SEEMS REMINISCENT OF TOYOTA STATING THERE WASN'T AN ACCELERATOR PEDAL ISSUE. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE BEFORE SOMEONE IS HURT, AND IT SEEMS THE LOWLY CONSUMER IS NOT MAKING IT HAPPEN. *KB
BATT LO WARNING COMES ON FROM TIME TO TIME IN OUR 2011 HONDA ODYSSEY. I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE AT THE DEALERS TWICE FOR THIS PROBLEM, ONE TIME FOR 2 DAYS WITH NOTHING MORE FROM THE SERVICE MANAGER "TO DRIVE THE CAR MORE TO KEEP THE BATTERY CHARGED UP" THIS IS NOT A FIX, IT IS ONLY A BAND AID. HONDA OF AMERICA SERVICE REP I TALKED WITH WAS A TOTAL WASTE OF TIME. I TOLD HIM THE WIFE IS WORRIED THAT IF IT IS REAL AND IGNORED SHE MAY BE LEFT STRANDED WHICH COULD BE A DANGER TO HER IN THESE TIMES. HONDA HAS SENT A "SERVICE NEWS ARTICLE" TO THEIR DEALERS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM BUT AGAIN THEIR COMMENT TO FIX THE PROBLEM IS TO CHARGE THE BATTERY AND MOMENTARILY DISCONNECT THE BATTERY SENSOR FOR 10 SEC, AND AGAIN THIS WAS DONE TO OUR VEHICLE AND WAS ONLY A SHORT TERM FIX., WITHIN DAYS IT WAS DOING IT AGAIN. HONDA NEEDS TO STEP UP TO THE PLATE AND GET THIS GENERIC PROBLEM FIXED. *TT
2011 HONDA ODYSSEY EL. ON THE INFORMATIONAL DISPLAY THE BATTERY CHARGE LOW WARNING LIGHT HAS COME ON FOR THE SECOND TIME IN APPROXIMATELY 45 DAYS. THE FIRST TIME I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER WHO RESET THE SENSOR. HE TOLD ME THAT WHEN IT HAPPENS AGAIN TO DO THE SAME THING. IT BOTHERS ME THAT I HAVE TO DISABLE A SAFETY FEATURE FOR THIS VEHICLE IN ORDER TO USE IT IN THE MANNER THAT IT WAS INTENDED. I AM CONCERNED THAT MY WIFE WILL BE LEFT STRANDED WITH A DEAD BATTERY. *TR
2011 HONDA ODYSSEY. CONSUMER STATES PROBLEM WITH REAR SEAT BELT *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THE REAR SEAT HAD A MIDDLE SEAT WHICH FOLDED DOWN INTO A CONSOLE. THE SET BELT FOR THE MIDDLE WAS ATTACHED TO THE CEILING ABOVE IN LIEU OF THE SEAT ITSELF. THE OTHER TWO BACK SEATS RECLINED AND THEREFORE, THE SEAT BELT HUNG IN THE GENERAL AREA WHERE ONES HAND WOULD BE WHILE RECLINING. WHILE DRIVING, THE CONSUMERS CHILDREN WERE RECLINING, NAPPING AND PLAYING IN THE BACK SEAT, WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN, ONE OF THE CHILDREN BEGAN YELLING. THE CONSUMER LOOKED BACKED AND DISCOVERED THE OTHER CHILD HAD MANAGED TO WRAP THE SEAT BELT AROUND HER NECK SEVERAL TIMES. IT TOOK THE CONSUMERS HUSBAND OVER FIVE MINUTES TO UNWRAP THE SEAT BELT FROM AROUND HER NECK. THE CONSUMERS DAUGHTER RECEIVED BRUISES AND RED MARKS AROUND HER NECK. (THE VEHICLE BELONGED TO THE CONSUMERS MOTHER-IN-LAW)
THIS LITTLE YELLOW ALARM MESSAGE FLASHES ON THE DASHBOARD: "BATTERY CHARGE LOW - SWITCH OFF ALL LIGHTS AND ELECTRICAL DEVICES" AND THEN IT SHUTS EVERYTHING OFF...OVERHEAD LIGHTS, DASH LIGHTS - THINGS LIKE THAT. THAT LIGHT CAN BE ON AND WE CAN DRIVE CLEAR TO TACOMA BEFORE IT GOES OFF. WE CAN HAVE JUST RETURNED HOME AFTER A TRIP TO MONROE (ALMOST 100 MILES) AND WE WILL GET THAT MESSAGE AND - AGAIN - IT WILL SHUT EVERYTHING OFF. THE CAR HAS NOT SHUT DOWN WHILE WE ARE TRAVELING DOWN THE ROAD - BUT IT IS FRIGHTENING TO SEE THAT MESSAGE WHEN WE ARE DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY. I CAN GO BY THE CAR WHEN IT IS IN THE GARAGE AND SHUT OFF AND ALL OF A SUDDEN, I WILL HEAR THE BEEPING AND THEN I WILL SEE THE ALARM MESSAGE FLASHING IN THE CAR. THE CAR IS OFF! NO ONE TOUCHED THE CAR - BUT IT STARTS FLASHING! THEY KEEP TELLING US WE NEED TO DRIVE THE CAR MORE....BUT COME ON - IT IS 95 MILES TO MONROE! *TR
2011 HONDA ODYSSEY. CONSUMER STATES PROBLEM WITH VEHICLE WINDSHIELD WIPERS *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED ONE OF THE WIPERS SCRATCHED THE WINDSHIELD. THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A RECALL REGARDING THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS. HOWEVER, THE DEALER STATED IT WOULD COST $240. TO REPLACE THE WINDSHIELD. THE CONSUMER STATED THERE SHOULD BE NO CHARGE, TO REPLACE THE WINDSHIELD. *JB
BATTERY DIED AFTER OWNING BRAND NEW CAR FOR ABOUT 5 WEEKS. *TR
I HAD BROUGHT MY 2011 HONDA ODYSSEY IN FOR SERVICE ON 05/13/11 AT 10:08 AM BECAUSE OF A "LOW BATTERY WARNING LIGHT" THAT COMES ON WHENEVER ANY DOOR IS OPEN. I HAD PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE ON 03/14/2011 FROM STOCKTON HONDA. THE VIN IS [XXX]. MY VAN IS LESS THAN 3 MONTHS OLD WITH LESS THAN 3,000 MILES. THE ?LOW BATTERY WARNING LIGHT? SHOULD NOT COME ON BECAUSE THIS IS A BRAND NEW VEHICLE. WHEN THE ?LOW BATTERY WARNING LIGHT? COMES ON, ALL THE INTERIOR LIGHTS TURN OFF AUTOMATICALLY. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION, ESPECIALLY WHEN I COME HOME IN THE EVENING AND MY CHILDREN CANNOT SEE WHERE THEY ARE WALKING TO GET OUT OF THE VAN. EVERY NIGHT WHEN I COME HOME WITH MY CHILDREN, I HAVE TO GO INSIDE MY HOME FIRST TO GET A FLASH LIGHT IN ORDER TO PROVIDE LIGHTING FOR MY CHILDREN TO SEE WHERE THEY ARE WALKING TO HELP GUIDE THEM OUT OF THE VAN SAFELY. I HAD CALLED AMERICAN HONDA TO FILE A COMPLAINT REGARDING THIS ISSUE AND SO FAR, I HAD BEEN GIVEN THE RUN AROUND. HONDA IS REFUSING TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND REFUSED TO FIX THE ISSUES. I HAD RESEARCH ON SEVERAL ONLINE HONDA FORUMS AND FOUND THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY 2011 HONDA ODYSSEY OWNER THAT IS HAVING THIS PROBLEM. AMERICAN HONDA HAD FINALLY ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THE BATTERY SENSOR IS TOO SENSITIVE AND I WAS TOLD BY [XXX] THAT SHE IS TRYING TO SEND OUT AN UPDATE BATTERY SENSOR TO SERRAMONTE HONDA TO REPAIR MY VAN BY 05/31/2011. AS OF 06/03/2011, [XXX] HAD FAILED TO SEND OUT ANY PART AND JUST KEEP PUTTING ME OFF AND GIVING ME THE RUN AROUND. WHY IS IT SO HARD FOR HONDA TO ADMIT THAT THEY HAD MADE A MISTAKE AND JUST TAKE RESPONSIBILITY AND ACCOUNTABILITY FOR THEIR PRODUCTS? CALIFORNIA LEMON LAW STATES THAT IF THE MANUFACTURER HAD FAILED TO REPAIR THE ISSUES AFTER REASONABLE AMOUNT OF ATTEMPTS, THEN THE MANUFACTURER IS REQUIRE TO REFUNDING THE PURCHASE PRICE OR REPLACING THE VEHICLE. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME AND ATTENTION TO HELP RECTIFY THIS MATTER. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR
SINCE TAKING DELIVERY OF MY 2011 HONDA ODYSSEY IT HAS HAD A FAULTY BATTERY SENSOR, THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE THAT IS NOT BEING ADDRESSED. THE SENSOR FALSELY REPORTS THAT THE BATTERY IS LOW AND DISABLES SOME OF THE ONBOARD EQUIPMENT INCLUDING INTERIOR LIGHTS AND PATHWAY LIGHTS LEAVING CAR IN THE DARK. *TR
BATTERY LOW INDICATOR LIGHT COMES ON NO MATTER HOW MUCH WE DRIVE THE VEHICLE. *TR
THE BATTERY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM SETS OFF AN ALARM (BATTERY CHARGE LOW) ALMOST EVERY TIME I DRIVE THE VEHICLE. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW IN NOV 2010. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE THE SYSTEM IS NOT DESIGNED TO CHARGE THE BATTERY PROPERLY AND MAY CAUSE ME TO BE STRANDED WITH A DEAD BATTERY WITH NORMAL DRIVING AND USAGE. HONDA INDICATES THE CAR NEEDS TO BE 'DRIVEN LONGER' IN ORDER TO AVOID THE ERROR. I CONTINUE TO SEE THE ERROR EVEN AFTER DRIVING FOR 40+ MINUTES, WHICH SHOULD BE SUFFICIENT TIME TO CHARGE THE BATTERY. ADDITIONALLY, WHEN THIS ERROR OCCURS IT SHUTS OFF ALL THE INTERIOR LIGHTS IN THE VAN, WHICH IS ANOTHER SAFETY ISSUE AS I HAVE NO INTERIOR LIGHTS WHEN I AM TRYING TO LOAD MY CHILDREN IN THEIR CAR SEATS AT NIGHT. *TR
A WARNING MESSAGE STATING "BATTERY CHARGE LOW" REPEATEDLY COMES ON IN THE INFORMATION DISPLAY. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES BUT THERE HAS BEEN NO SOLUTION OFFERED BY THE DEALER OR MANUFACTURER. THERE IS ALSO AN UNUSUAL NOISE COMING FROM THE STEERING AND SUSPENSION WHENEVER MAKING A 90 DEGREE RIGHT TURN.
LOW BATTERY INDICATOR - TURN OFF ALL ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT, NO INTERIOR LIGHTS. DEALER SAID TO DRIVE MORE YET I RETURNED LAST EVENING FROM A 425 MILE DRIVE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTED HARD WHILE SLOWING DOWN UNDER 30 MPH. THE CONTACT COULD FEEL AND HEAR THE TRANSMISSION DOWN SHIFTING, AND THE FAILURE BECAME PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. THE DEALER TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE AND CONFIRMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS DEFECTIVE AND THAT THE COMPUTER CAUSED THE TRANSMISSION TO FAIL. THE MANUFACTURERS ENGINEER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND STATED THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH TRANSMISSION AND IT WAS SHIFTING NORMAL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 20,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED HE ATTEMPTED TO TURN ON THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED BUT THEY WOULD NOT FUNCTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE WAS DIAGNOSED BUT THE CONTACT COULD NOT RECALL WHAT THE DIAGNOSIS WAS. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BY A LOCAL MECHANIC. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 420.
MY HONDA ODYSSEY TOURING 2011 ADVERTISED THE AMBIENT FOOTWELL LIGHTING AS ALL BRIGHT AND BEAUTIFUL. UNFORTUNATELY IS SO DIM AND YOU LITERALLY HAVE TO PUT YOUR HAND RIGHT UP TO THE LIGHT EVEN WHEN IT IS AT IT"S FULL BRILLIANCE. I FEEL THAT I WAS RIPPED OFF AND IT IS VERY DECEIVING OF HONDA TO DO THAT AND CHARGE ALOT OF MONEY FOR THIS FEATURE. PLEASE CAN YOU GUYS GET HONDA TO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS. THE VEHICLE IS ADVERTISED AS A LUXURY VEHICLE. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. *TR
LOW BATTERY WARNING LIGHT COMES ON EVERY TIME WE GET INTO OR OUT OF THE VEHICLE. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER 2 TIMES TO HAVE THEM FIX IT AND THEY TELL ME TO DRIVE IT MORE. I HAVE CHARGED THE BATTERY AT LEAST 5 TIMES MYSELF AND THE WARNING WILL ALWAYS RETURN. THE INTERIOR LIGHTS SHUT OFF WITH THE WARNING MAKING IT VERY HARD AND UNSAFE TO LOAD SMALL CHILDREN INTO THE VEHICLE. HONDA WILL NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM, BUT THERE IS EITHER A LOW BATTERY CONDITION OR A FALSE WARNING. *TR

MY WIFE DRIVES THE KIDS TO AND FROM SCHOOL A COUPLE OF TIMES A DAY. EVERYTIME SHE GETS HOME THE "BATT LOW SEE MANUAL" MESSAGE COMES UP. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER 3 TIMES AND THEY SAY THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO ABOUT IT. THEY SAY IT IS NORMAL. I THINK THE BIGGEST ISSUE YOU HAVE HERE IS FALSE ALARMS. HOW DO I KNOW WHEN/IF MY BATTERY IS EVER LOW IF THIS MESSAGE COMES ON ALL THE TIME? THIS IS NOT A GOOD THING TO HAVE HAPPEN. *TR
A "BATT LOW SEE MANUAL" LIGHT AND WARNING BEEP OCCURS ON MY HONDA ODYSSEY 2011 SINCE PURCHASE. MY HONDA DEALER HAS CHARGED THE BATTERY AND CHECKED THE SOFTWARE WITHOUT SOLVING THE PROBLEM. I HAVE ALSO REPORTED TO HONDA HEADQUARTERS. HONDA HAS NOT FIXED THIS PROBLEM. THE ODYCLUB AND EDMUNDS TOWNHALL FORUMS ARE FULL OF OTHERS REPORTING THIS PROBLEM. HONDA'S RECOMMENDATION IS SIMPLY TO DRIVE THE VAN MORE RATHER THAN FIND A RESOLUTION FOR THIS ISSUE. *TR
"BATTERY LOW" WARNING COMES ON REPEATEDLY. BATTERY VOLTAGE CHECKED AND WAS NORMAL. BOARD LIGHTS WILL NOT COME ON WHILE THE "BATTERY LOW" MESSAGE IS ON - CAUSING A HAZARD (HAVING TO MOVE AROUND PACKAGE AND PERSONNEL IN TOTALLY DARK VEHICLE INTERIOR).
THE LOW BATTERY LIGHT ON THE INSTRUMENTAL PANEL WARNS AND FLASHES EVERY TIME THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR AND THE REAR SLIDING DOORS ARE OPEN OF THE 2011 ODYSSEY. I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE AT MY HONDA DEALERSHIP (SPORT HONDA, 3101 AUTOMOBILE BLVD., SILVER SPRING, MD) AND BOTH TIMES WERE TOLD BY MY SERVICE ADVISOR THAT THE VAN IS DESIGNED TO PREVENT PREMATURE BATTERY FAILURE AND THAT THIS WAS NORMAL. THIS ISSUE DIDN'T START TIL 2 MONTHS AFTER I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE. IT IS NOW HAPPENING MORE FREQUENT. I SPOKE TO A REPRESENTATIVE (MAY 3, 2011) FROM THE HONDA CORPORATION AND TOLD THEM OF THIS ISSUE. THEY DOCUMENTED EVERYTHING AND TOLD ME THAT THE ENGINEERS ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND ARE CURRENTLY WORKING ON A FIX FOR THIS.
I BOUGHT A 2011 HONDA ODYSSEY EX IN FEBRUARY. AFTER 500 MILES ONE DAY AFTER COMPLETELY NORMAL ROUTINE DRIVING, THE LOW BATTERY LIGHT AND WARNING BELL CAME ON. CALLED DEALER AND WAS ADVISED THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM. WARNING WENT OFF AFTER 30 MINS OF DRIVING, BUT THEN CAME BACK ON THE NEXT DAY. WENT TO DEALER WHO TESTED BATTERY. BATTERY WAS OVER 600 CCA, WHEN ONLY REQUIRES 550, SO CLEARLY A FALSE ALARM. THE HONDA SERVICE BULLETIN ADVISE CUSTOMERS TO NOT USE TOO MANY ELECTRONICS; ALL WE HAD ON THE DAYS THIS HAPPENED WAS THE ENGINE AND THE RADIO. THIS IS AN ISSUE NEEDING RESOLUTION AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REMOVABLE MULITI-FUNCTION SEAT IN THE SECOND ROW DID NOT SUPPORT A BOOSTER SEAT. HER CHILD'S SEAT HAS SLID OUT OF THE SEAT CAUSING THE CHILD TO BE IMPROPERLY SECURED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED BY THE DEALER NOR WAS IT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED HER THAT WAS HOW THE VEHICLE WAS DESIGNED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 300.
2.10 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER TOOK THE MIDDLE SEAT BELT WHICH HANGS FROM THE TOP OF THE CAR OF OUR 2011 HONDA ODYSSEY AND WRAPPED IT AROUND HER NECK. THE SEAT BELT LOCKED AND YOU COULD NOT RELEASE IT EXCEPT TO CUT IT OFF. POLICE WAS CALLED TO CUT THE BELT SHE HAD BRUISES ON HER NECK BUT NOTHING MORE SERIOUS. THANK GOD I DID NOT BRAKE HARD OR SHE COULD HAVE BEEN STRANGLED. THEY SHOULD HAVE AN EMERGENCY RELEASE BUTTON OR A BETTER LOCATION FOR THE SEAT BELT. OUT OF REACH OF A CURIOUS TODDLER. *TR
2011 HONDA ODYSSEY EX, BOUGHT IN LATER FEB, JUST AFTER DRIVING 100 MILES, THE BATTERY LOW LIGHT KEEPS ON. WE DROVE 2 HOURS OF HIGHWAY TO CHARGE IT, AND THEN DROVE LOCALLY, JUST AFTER 2 DAYS, THE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. SO ANNOYING, HAVEN'T HEARD ANY OTHER CAR HAS SUCH PROBLEM. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHENEVER THE KEY WAS IN THE IGNITION THE ELECTRICAL WARNING LIGHT IMMEDIATELY ILLUMINATED INFORMING THE CONTACT TO SHUT OFF ALL ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS IN THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS FORCED TO TURN OFF ALL OF THE LIGHTS IN THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHO PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WHICH INDICATED THAT THERE WERE NO FAILURES. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE CONTACT NEEDED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE MORE OFTEN. ALTHOUGH THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE MORE FREQUENTLY THE ELECTRICAL WARNING LIGHT CONTINUED TO COME ON. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE COULD SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING AND CAUSE A CRASH TO OCCUR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 700.
I OWN A 2011 HONDA ODYSSEY WHICH HAS LESS THAN 700 MILES ON IT. I HAVE NOW HAD THE BATTERY LOW MESSAGE THREE TIMES WHEN NO DOORS WERE LEFT OPEN OR ELECTRICAL USAGE OFF BATTERY. I HAVE CALLED THE ISSUE INTO MY DEALERSHIP AND THEY'RE AWARE OF THE SITUATION BUT HONDA HAS NO ANSWERS FOR A FIX. THIS IS AN UNACCEPTABLE RESPONSE FRO HONDA IF NOTHING IS WRONG WITH THE BATTERY. HONDA NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS OR THEY WILL LOSE MY BUSINESS. *TR
THE DASHBOARD CONSTANTLY SHOWS "BATTERY CHARGE LOW. SEE OWNER'S MANUAL." APPEARS CONSTANTLY. WHEN I TAKE MINIVAN TO DEALERSHIP FOR THE THIRD TIME FOR THIS PROBLEM, I AM TOLD TO DRIVE CAR MORE TO CHARGE BATTERY. THIS WAS AFTER THE CAR SAT AFTER DRIVING IT FOR A 120 MILES AND THEN SAT FOR 1 DAY. A CAR'S BATTERY SHOULD HOLD A CHARGE FOR AT LEAST A COUPLE OF WEEKS BEFORE HAVING THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM. I AM CONCERNED THAT THE CAR WILL NOT BE ABLE TO START AND LEAVE ME STRANDED. *TR
BATTERY CHARGE LOW SEE DRIVERS MANUAL CONSISTENTLY APPEARS ON THE DASHBOARD SCREEN. NOTHING HAS EVER BEEN LEFT ON IN THE CAR. BRAND NEW 2011 HONDA ODYSSEY TOURING. ONLY 5 MONTHS OLD. HAPPENS AT LEAST EVERY OTHER DAY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BATTERY INDICATION LAMP ILLUMINATED AS THE WINDOWS AND SUN ROOF OPENED INDEPENDENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE AND THAT THEY SHOULD USED THE COMPONENTS MORE OFTEN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALSO CONTACTED WHO OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 2,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE LOW BATTERY INDICATOR WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT A CABLE CORD HAD NOT BEEN PROPERLY CONNECTED AND WAS CAUSING THE LIGHT TO ILLUMINATE. THE DEALER CONNECTED THE CABLE CORD PROPERLY HOWEVER, THE LOW BATTERY LIGHT CONTINUED TO ILLUMINATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR THE SAME FAILURE AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT SHE WOULD POSSIBLY HAVE TO REPLACE THE CABLE CORD. THE CONTACT DID NOT INFORM THE MANUFACTURER OF THE FAILURE NOR WAS THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 3,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 800. WE BOUGHT A 2011 ODYSSEY EX IN MID NOVEMBER OF LAST YEAR AND HAD AN AFTER MARKET REMOTE STARTER PUT IN THE WEEK AFTER WE GOT IT. A FEW DAYS LATER, THE VSA LIGHT CAME ON. AFTER 3 TRIPS TO HONDA THEY FINALLY FIXED IT, THE WHOLE MODULE WAS BURNT OUT. A WEEK OR SO LATER, THE LOW BATTERY LIGHT STARTED COMING ON. AFTER MAYBE 4-5 TRIPS BACK TO HONDA, THEY SAY HONDA IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM BUT THERE IS NOTHING THAT CAN BE DONE. I DON'T DRIVE LONG DISTANCE BEING A MOM OF 3 KIDS. THEY SAY SHORT DISTANCES FOR THIS CAR ARE CAUSING THE PROBLEM. SO IT'S MY FAULT I DON'T DRIVE THAT MUCH AND NOT FAR!!! THE LIGHT COMES ON AND THE CHIMES SEVERAL TIMES EACH DAY WHEN I OPEN THE DOOR AND SOMETIMES WHEN I TURN THE CAR OFF. THE LOW BATTERY LIGHT AND CHIMES ALSO GOES ON WHEN I'M JUST SITTING IN THE CAR W/ THE ENGINE OFF AND KEYS OUT OF THE IGNITION. IT'S REALLY GETTING ANNOYING AND THEY HAVE NO SOLUTION FOR THE PROBLEM. YOU BUY A NEW CAR FOR ALL THAT MONEY AND YOU DON'T EXPECT TO SEE PROBLEMS IN SUCH A SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME. IN THE 4 MONTHS SINCE OWNING THE CAR, I HAVE 2000 MILES AND THE PROBLEMS STARTED AT ABOUT 150 MILES. I LOVE THE CAR EXCEPT FOR THE LOW BATTERY LIGHT ON ALL THE TIME. WHAT'S GOING TO HAPPEN IN THE FUTURE W/ IT? *TR
"LOW BATT" WARNING LIGHT ON INSTRUMENT PANEL COMING ON AFTER VEHICLE HAS ONLY EXPERIENCED ROUTINE USE AND IS LESS THAN 3 MONTHS OLD. WARNING INCLUDES BEEPING NOISE AND CAUSES INTERIOR LIGHTING TO GO OUT WHICH COULD LEAD TO SERIOUS ACCIDENT OR INJURY, ESPECIALLY WITH SMALL CHILDREN AS PASSENGERS. HONDA CORPORATE WILL NOT ADDRESS THE ISSUE OTHER THAN TO SAY VEHICLE SHOULD BE DRIVEN MORE TO CHARGE BATTERY. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AND NHTSA SHOULD INVESTIGATE AND HAVE HONDA DEVELOP A RECALL AND FIX TO THIS MAJOR ELECTRICAL SYSTEM DEFECT BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT. NUMEROUS REPORTED INCIDENTS OF THIS DEFECT AFFECTING CUSTOMERS AROUND THE UNITED STATES POSTED ON THE INTERNET YET HONDA REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING OR ACKNOWLEDGE A PROBLEM! *TR
THERE SEEMS TO BE AN INTERFERENCE BETWEEN USING A BLUETOOTH PHONE WHEN PAIRED WITH THE VEHICLES HANDS FREE LINK SYSTEM (HFL) AND THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM (TPMS). VEHICLE WAS BRAND NEW OFF THE TRUCK (ONLY 4 MILES ON IT) AND AS SOON AS MY IPHONE 4 WAS PAIRED WITH THE VEHICLES HFL SYSTEM, THE TPMS FAILED. I'VE RESEARCHED ONLINE FORUMS AND AM SEEING A GROWING LIST OF OWNERS REPORTING THE SAME ISSUE. *TR
BOUGHT THE ODYSSEY 2011 EXL AND DROVE FOR 5 MILES FROM THE DEALOR WHEN THE TPMS LIGHTS CAME ON AND STAYED ON FOR EVER. TAKEN AN APPOINT WITH HONDA SERVICE AND THEY WOULD LIKE TO ADJUST THE TYRE PRESSURE. ANOTHER DEALTER WOULD LIKE TO RESET THE WHOLE SENSOR SETTINGS. BY TALKING TO THEM, I FELT THAT THEY ARE NOT MUCH AWARE ABOUT THIS FREQUENT ISSUE.
PURCHASED 2011 HONDA ODYSSEY ON 3/19. UPON LEAVING THE DEALERSHIP THE TPMS (TIRE PRESSURE MONITERING SYSTEM) LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND STAYED ON. STAYS ON EVEN WITH ENGINE RESTART. TIRE PRESSURES WERE ABOVE DOOR POST RECOMENDATIONS. DEALER REQUIRES RETURN OF THE VEHICLE FOR INSPECTION. *TR
ONGOING INTERMITTENT PROBLEM WITH BATTERY LOW WARNING LIGHT AND CHIME. CAR GETS REGULAR USE OF DIFFERENT LENGTH TRIPS -- BUT WARNING OFTEN APPEARS WHEN DOOR IS OPENED. DEALER ADVISES THAT THIS RESULTS FROM SHORT TRIPS. BUT THAT SHOULD NOT APPLY TO OUR USAGE. NO APPARENT LACK OF CHARGE IN COLD STARTING CAR -- SO THIS IS POSSIBLY A FALSE ALARM? BUT -- DO NOT WANT TO BE STRANDED BY SUDDEN BATTERY FAILURE OR RELATED PROBLEMS. HONDA NEEDS TO FIX THIS -- COMMON COMPLAINT APPEARING IN THE INTERNET.
WE OWNED A 2011 HONDA ODYSSEY EX-L FOR TWO MONTHS WHEN THE LOW BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY SAID THE BATTERY WAS VERY LOW AND IT NEEDED A FULL 2 HOUR CHARGE SO WE LEFT IT OVERNIGHT. LESS THAN TWO WEEKS LATER THE LIGHT IS ON AGAIN; WE HAVE DRIVEN FEWER THAN 150 MILES SINCE THE SERVICE. WE HAVE NEITHER THE DVD NOR NAV, HAVE NOT PLUGGED IN ANY EXTERNAL DEVICES SINCE THE SERVICE, AND LEAVE NOTHING ON WHEN WE PARK THE VEHICLE. *TR
LOW BATTERY LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON EFFECTS PRESETS, AND INTERIOR LIGHT, WAS LOOKED AT 4 TIME WITH NO CHANGE. WAS TOLD NOT TO MAKE SHORT TRIPS WHAT MOTHER DOESN'T TAKE SHORT TRIP GIVE ME A BREAK. I PURCHASED A BRAND NEW 2011 HONDA ODYSSEY TOURING ELITE 4 WEEKS AGO. AS I DROVE HOME FROM THE LOT MY TPMS (TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM) LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON. I IMMEDIATELY DROVE BACK TO THE DEALER SERVICE CENTER. INITIALLY THEY THOUGHT IT WAS JUST TIRE PRESSURE BUT QUICKLY REALIZED IT WAS AN ACTUAL ERROR OF THE TPMS SYSTEM. ONE OF THE TECHS SAID HE HAS SEEN THIS ON ONE OTHER 2011 ODYSSEY AND THAT IT IS TRIGGERED BY SMART CELLULAR PHONE INTERFERENCE. HE TOLD ME IT WOULD PROBABLY HAPPEN AGAIN IF I USED MY CELL PHONE IN THE VAN. SO THEY RESET THE TPMS ERROR AND I TURNED OFF MY CELL AND DROVE FOR 30 MINUTES WITH NO ISSUES. SO THEN I TURNED MY CELL PHONE ON, AND STILL NO ISSUES FOR ANOTHER 5 MINUTES. THEN MY WIFE CALLED AND AT THE EXACT MOMENT MY CELL PHONE RANG THE TPMS WENT INTO ERROR AGAIN. SO THE SERVICE CENTER TELLS ME THIS IS SOMETHING THEY CAN'T FIX. THEY ARE WAITING FOR A FIX FROM HONDA. WHEN I SUBMITTED THE CASE TO HONDA CORP CUSTOMER CARE THEY SAY THAT THIS IS NOT A "KNOWN ISSUE" AND THAT THEY ARE NOT ACTIVELY WORKING ON A RESOLUTION FOR IT. WHEN TPMS ERROR OCCURS THE TPMS SYSTEM IS COMPLETELY DISABLED AUTOMATICALLY BY THE VEHICLE COMPUTER. THEREFORE, MY VAN CURRENTLY DOES NOT HAVE TPMS PROTECTION. I JUST SPOKE WITH MY DEALER SERVICE CENTER AGAIN AND THEY TELL ME THEY NOW HAVE 5 REPORTS OF THIS SAME PROBLEM ON 2011 ODYSSEY ELITES. *TR
RADIAN XTSL CONVERTIBLE CHILD SAFETY SEAT WITH SUPERLATCH HAS A LATCH ADJUSTER THAT DOES NOT ALLOW THE INSTALLATION TO REMAIN TIGHT. EVEN WHEN I HAVE PROPERLY INSTALLED THE SEAT (AS VERIFIED BY MANUALS AND CAR SEAT TECHS), A SIMPLE TAP ON THE TILTING ADJUSTER WILL COMPLETELY LOOSEN THE LATCH STRAPS, RESULTING IN A SEAT THAT IS NO LONGER TIGHTLY AND PROPERLY INSTALLED! THESE ADJUSTERS NEED TO BE RECALLED AND REPLACED WITH THE LOCKING TYPE THAT BRITAX, FOR INSTANCE, USES. (RELATED VEHICLE INFORMATION: MODEL YEAR=2011, MAKE=HONDA, MODEL=ODYSSEY). *TR
I PURCHASED A NEW 2011 HONDA ODYSSEY EX ON 1/21/2011. AFTER ARRIVING HOME MY WIFE OPENED THE PASSENGER DOOR AND THE 'LOW BATTERY CHECK MANUAL' WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. THE INTERIOR LIGHTS IMMEDIATELY TURNED OFF. THE NEXT DAY AND FOR THE NEXT 3 DAYS THE WARNING LIGHT KEPT COMING ON. ON PAGE 87 OF THE OWNER'S MANUAL IT STATES THAT DRIVING FOR SHORT TRIPS DOESN'T GIVE THE BATTERY TIME TO RECHARGE AND THE LOW BATTERY WARNING MAY FLASH. MY DEALER STATED THAT SOME ODYSSEY'S HAVE FAULT IN THE BATTERY SENSOR SYSTEM AND WILL BE NEED TO BE HOOKED UP TO A DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE FOR 2-3 HOURS. I WAS TOLD THAT IF THE LOW BATTERY COMES ON WHILE I'M DRIVING TO BRING IT IN IMMEDIATELY. I TOOK THE CAR ON A 500 MILE ROAD TRIP AND TWO 300 MILE ROAD TRIPS. THE LOW BATTERY LIGHT HAS NOT COME ON SINCE. *TR
MY 2009 HONDA ODYSSEY EX HAS 30,000 MILES AND HAS ONGOING BRAKE ISSUES. THE BRAKES ARE SOFT AND GOES TO THE FLOOR AND THE VAN DOES NOT STOP UNLESS I PUMP THE BRAKES. THE BRAKES ALSO MAKE A LOUD GRINDING SOUND WHEN TRYING TO STOP QUICKLY AND WHEN GOING DOWNHILL:(FREEWAY OFF RAMPS). IT IS NOT THE ABS BRAKING SYSTEM. THERE IS NO PULSATING FEELING ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE VAN DOES NOT STOP WHEN THE BRAKES HAVE THIS GRINDING SOUND. MY HONDA DEALER HAS LOOKED AT THE BRAKES AND THEY SAY "NO ISSUES". THEY SAY BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS ARE FINE. THEY WERE CHECK AT EVERY OIL CHANGE AT THE DEALERSHIP. I HAD THE SAME SOFT BRAKES ISSUES WITH MY 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE DEALER ALSO SAID NO PROBLEMS BUT THERE WAS A RECALL WITH SOFT BRAKES PROBLEMS. I'M WORRIED WHEN I HAVE TO GO UP TO THE MOUNTAIN AND COME BACK DOWN THE HILL. THERE HAS TO BE A DESIGN FLAW TO HAVE OTHER HONDA ODYSSEY OWNERS COMPLAIN ABOUT THEIR BRAKES. *TR
THE DASH INDICATED "LOW BATTERY" ON A NEW MINIVAN 6 WEEKS OLD. THE BATTERY COULD HAVE GONE DEAD AT ANY TIME. A LETTER FROM HONDA TO DEALERS INDICATED THEY HAD MANY TECH LINE CONTACTS REGARDING THIS PROBLEM. THIS LETTER TOLD THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT THAT THE CUSTOMER SHOULD DRIVE FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME AND IT MAY CHARGE THE BATTERY. CHARGING THE BATTERY BY THE DEALER WAS NOT A WARRANTY ISSUE. HONDA OF AMERICA CALLED AFTER I WROTE AND INDICATED THAT THEY HAD NO INTENTION TO DEAL WITH THIS SAFETY PROBLEM. THERE WOULD BE NO RECALL TO UPGRADE THE CHARGING SYSTEM OR THE BATTERY.
ON THE 2011 HONDA ODYSSEY EX-L (YOUR DROP DOWN MENU DOES NOT GIVE THE ODYSSEY AS AN OPTION..BUT IT IS THE ODYSSEY), THE DRIVER'S SIDE MIRROR HAS A DISTORTION ON THE OUTER EDGE OF THE MIRROR WHICH CAUSES THE DRIVER TO EXPERIENCE DIZZINESS WHEN LOOKING AT VEHICLES AT DISTANCE. THIS HAS BEEN REPORTED BY NUMEROUS DRIVERS ON THE WEB BUT NEITHER HONDA NOR CRISWELL HONDA IN ROCKVILLE MARYLAND WILL DO ANYTHING ABOUT THE MIRROR UNTIL A HONDA BULLETIN IS RELEASED WHICH WILL PROBABLY BE AFTER AN ACCIDENT. *TR
