I been having a fuel smell from under my 2011 LR4 for several months, which is now severe fuel leaking from the fuel tank, and no warning lights. I have contacted Land Rover to report because of the recall campaign, and was told that nothing can be cover under recall until notified or vin appears on recall. I have waiting for recall letters to be send out, don’t want to pay for repair and then have wait for refund of only. I am afraid to drive LR4 because of the fuel leak, don’t want the gas leak to accidentally be spark and cause fire.

THIS CAN POSE A SAFETY RISK WITH DRIVERS TROUBLESHOOTING WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE. A SIMPLE GOOGLE SEARCH REVEALS HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS ISSUE. WE HAVE BEEN HAVING THIS ISSUE FOR 2.5 YEARS WITH NO RESOLUTION. SOFTWARE UPDATES DO NOT CORRECT THE ISSUE. PERHAPS THE OEM CAN FIGURE OUT THE KNOWN ISSUE AND SEND CUSTOMERS A SERVICE BULLETIN TO GET THIS SAFETY ISSUE FIXED. OCCASSIONALLY THERE IS ELECTRICAL SMELLS EMANATING FROM DASH. MY WIFE HAS NOTICED THIS MANY TIMES. OTHER THAN THIS PERSISTENT ISSUE THE VEHICLE OPERATES NOMINALLY.

WHILE THE ENGINE IS RUNNING OR IN ACCESSORY MODE FUEL IS BEING RELEASED FROM A CRACK IN THE GAS TANK ACCESS COVER. THERE IS A STRONG SMELL OF FUEL NEAR THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR DOOR AREA. I RESEARCHED THIS ISSUE AND REPLACE THE FAULTY PART BEFORE IT HAD THE POTENTIAL TO START A FUEL VAPOR FIRE.
ENGINE SEIZED AT 106K MILES STILL WITHIN GUIDELINES OF LAST OIL CHANGE. LAND ROVER DEALER INDICATES ENGINE FAILURE IS DUE TO LOW OIL. THE OIL LEVEL WAS AT 1.7 QUARTS. THE OIL LEVEL WARNING SYSTEM NEVER ALERTED. THE OIL PRESSURE LEVEL INDICATOR REMAINED NORMAL. THERE ARE MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS ONLINE OF THIS SIMILAR SITUATION ON LR4. NO WARNING LIGHTS NO LOW LEVEL INDICATOR.
THE RUBBER FINISH ON THE DIALS TO ADJUST THE AIR CONDITIONER TEMPERATURE ARE PEELING OFF AND HAVE BECOME STICKY LIKE GLUE. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND IS REGULARLY COMPLAINED ABOUT IN LAND ROVER FORUMS. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL AS IT HAS AFFECTED 80% OF ALL VEHICLES WITH THESE DIALS. THE ONLY WAY TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE IS TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE CONTROLLER FOR THE AIR CONDITIONER WHICH COSTS OVER $500. PLEASE SEE TO HAVING THIS RECALL MADE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
