2011 LEXUS ES. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO BROKEN DOOR HANDLE. THE CONSUMER STATED THE OUTSIDE DOOR HANDLE WAS BROKEN, THE DRIVER'S SEAT COVER AND OUTER BOLSTER SECTIONS WERE DAMAGED, AND THE ROOF PAINT WAS PEELING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE.

THE INSURANCE COMPANY WAS CONTACTED AND TOWED THE VEHICLE TO A LOT WHERE IT WAS DEEMED A TOTAL LOSS. NO DEALER WAS CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AS A CLAIM WAS FILED. HOWEVER NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS TAKEN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 89,000. *DT

"TAKATA RECALL", AFTER CONTACTING LOCAL LEXUS DEALERSHIP I MADE AN APPOINTMENT ON 9/8/2017 TO HAVE REPAIRS MADE, I WAS TOLD NO REMEDY AVAILABLE PER THE LOCAL LEXUS DEALERSHIP (LEXUS OF BELLEVUE). IT IS NOW 12/19/2017 AND STILL NO REPAIRS OR REMEDY FROM LEXUS.
TAKATA RECALL; I HAVE MAJOR CONCERN RELEVANT TO NOT ONLY THE PASS/SIDE AIR BAG, BUT TO THE DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG ALSO. TAKATA RECALL RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN JULY 2016. RECEIVED NO CONTACT FROM THE MANUFACTURER ABOUT SCHEDULING REPAIRS. CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER IN MARCH 2017. I WAS TOLD THAT THEY HAD NO IMMEDIATE PLANS TO REPLACE THE AIRBAGS DUE TO LACK OF REPLACEMENT PARTS. MY VEHICLE IS SEVEN YEARS OLD, AND BASED ON THE INFORMATION PUBLISHED REGARDING DEGRADATION OF THE ORIGINAL AIRBAGS, I UNDERSTAND THAT MY VEHICLE IS IN GREATER DANGER OF HAVING DEFECTIVE AND POSSIBLY DANGEROUS AIRBAGS. AS A RESULT, I REQUESTED A REPLACEMENT OR LOANER VEHICLE UNTIL REPAIRS COULD BE MADE TO MY VEHICLE AND WAS TOLD I WOULD BE CONTACTED BY A LOCAL DEALER REPRESENTATIVE TO ARRANGE ONE, BUT WAS NEVER CONTACTED THEREAFTER. I WAS DRIVING ON INTERSTATE JUST OUTSIDE BEAUMONT, TEXAS ON THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 2 WHEN I HEARD A LOUD NOISE SIMILAR TO A GUNSHOT OR AN EXPLOSION. IMMEDIATELY AFTER I HEARD THE NOISE, I NOTICED MY SUNROOF COVER SHAKING AND WIND COMING THROUGH THE TOP OF MY CAR. I PULLED THE COVER BACK JUST A LITTLE AND NOTICED SHATTERED GLASS. WHEN I PULLED OVER AT THE NEXT SERVICE STATION, I GOT OUT AND REALIZED MY SUNROOF WAS SHATTERED. I CONTACTED LEXUS AND THEY PRETENDED TO BE SURPRISED; HOWEVER, AFTER FURTHER RESEARCH, I DISCOVERED A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AND MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS SAME ISSUE. I HAVE SINCE HAD THE SUNROOF REPAIRED, BUT NOT BY LEXUS. THE DEALERSHIP OFFERED TO REPAIR IT TO THE TUNE OF $2,000. THE SUNROOF REPAIR COMPANY WHERE I TOOK MY CAR REPAIRED IT FOR A FRACTION OF THAT. THIS MORNING I RECEIVED A PHONE CALL FROM LEXUS CORPORATE OFFICE STATING THAT THE DAMAGED SUNROOF WAS DUE TO "IMPACT," WHICH IS NOT TRUE. OF COURSE, LEXUS IS NOT TAKING ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR MY VEHICLE. I SUSPECT THEY WILL CONTINUE TO KEEP THEIR DEFECTIVE VEHICLES ON THE ROAD UNTIL AN ADEQUATE NUMBER OF PEOPLE HAVE DIED FROM THE DEFECTS. THE GENERAL MANAGER OF LEXUS OF CLEAR LAKE REACHED OUT TO ME ON THIS PAST SATURDAY AND ASKED THAT I EMAIL HER, WHICH I DID. HOWEVER, I NEVER HEARD ANYTHING BACK FROM HER.

MY WIFE AND I ARE RETIRED AND ALWAYS DRIVE TOGETHER. THIS RECALL MADE OUR LEXUS UNDRIVEABLE FOR THE PAST YEAR AND 3 MONTHS. THERE HAS BEEN NO RECOMPENSATION BY LEXUS.

I FEEL THAT CUSTOMERS DO NOT REALLY MATTER BECAUSE OF THE LENGTH OF TIME LEXUS IS TAKING TO ENSURE THE SAFETY OF THE PEOPLE WHO DRIVE THE VEHICLES WHEN THERE MAY BE A SERIOUS MATTER. I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR TO 3 DIFFERENT CAR MAINTENANCE SHOPS REGARDING THE TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT AND I HAVE REPLACED MANY SENSORS AND THE LIGHT CONTINUE NOT TO GO OFF. THE BRAKES IN MY CAR TOTALLY WENT OUT AND CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. . I HAVE BEEN TOLD ALSO WHAT ABOUT THE AIR BAG. WHY DID LEXUS NOT CONTACT ME TO TAKE MY CAR IN FOR AIR BAG REPLACEMENT BECAUSE IT DID NOT DEPLOY IN THE ACCIDENT. THIS IS A LEXUS VEHICLE AND I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY LEXUS CANNOT GIVE AN EXPLANATION OF WHAT IS WRONG. I WONDER IF LEXUS IS WAITING ON ANOTHER TRAGEDY TO HAPPEN BEFORE INTERVENING. I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM CARLOS GARCIA WITH TOYOTO WHICH IN THE LETTER HE HAD STATEMENT THAT DID NOT EXIST AND I CALLED LEXUS AND SOMEONE STATED THEY DID NOT GIVE TOYOTO THAT INFORMATION. IN THE LETTER FROM TOYOTO, ONLY THE AIRBAG WAS ADDRESSED WHICH MY WHOLE CASE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE AIR BAGS. I CALLED MR. GARCIA AND HE STATED THAT HE HAD ACCIDENTLY MISTAKEN ME WITH THE WRONG PERSON AND THAT HE WILL CALL ME THE NEXT DAY TO CLEAR THE MATTER UP.
TAKATA RECALL. DATE OF THE RECALL IS 5/23/16. TODAY IS 2/27/17. LEXUS' ADVICE IS TO NOT ALLOW ANYONE TO RIDE IN THE PASSENGER SEAT UNTIL THE AIRBAG IS REPLACED. LEXUS TOLD ME TODAY THEY HAVE NO SCHEDULED DATE FOR WHEN TAKATA WILL HAVE THE REPLACEMENT AIRBAG AVAILABLE FOR MY MODEL. 10 MONTHS (WITH NO REPAIR DATE SCHEDULED) IS UNREASONABLE AND UNACCEPTABLE WHILE HAVING TO AVOID HAVING A PASSENGER RIDE IN THE FRONT SEAT. AND I SEE ONLY 28% OF THE LEXUS VEHICLES HAVE HAD THE PASSENGER AIRBAGS REPLACE THUS FAR. SO MY COMPLAINT IS THAT THE ACTION BEING TAKEN BY NHTSA AND LEXUS, AND THE URGENCY BY TAKATA ARE UNACCEPTABLE. IT IS APPROACHING A YEAR NOW THAT WE WILL BEEN ASKED TO RIDE IN A POTENTIALLY UNSAFE VEHICLE. ABSURD.

MY TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT CAME ON IN MY VEHICLE IN OCTOBER. THE LIGHT WOULD NOT GO OFF. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE SHOP AND 2 SENSOR LIGHTS WERE REPLACED. THE LIGHT STAYED OFF FOR A DAY AND CAME BACK ON. THE SHOP THAT REPLACED THE SENSOR SAID TO BRING IT BACK THE NEXT DAY BECAUSE THEY DO NOT KNOW WHAT IS WRONG BECAUSE THERE ARE NO LONGER ANY SENSOR TO REPLACE. WHEN I ARRIVED HOME I PROCEEDED TO BACK INTO MY CARPORT AND WHEN I PROCEEDED TO GET ON BREAK TO PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE, THE BRAKE FAILED AND I HAD AN ACCIDENT THAT CAUSED A LOT OF DAMAGE TO MY CAR. THANK GOD I WAS NOT PHYSICAL HURT BUT MY CAR WAS. MY INSURANCE COMPANY WAS CONTACTED AND VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. WHEN I PICKED UP MY VEHICLE AFTER PAYING MY DEDUCTIBLE, I WAS TOLD BY ABRA AUTO PARTS THAT THEY HAVE REPLACED ALL THE DAMAGES HOWEVER THE TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT STILL WILL NOT GO OFF AND WE SHOULD FOLLOW UP WITH THE LEXUS DEALER BECAUSE THAT WAS A MATTER THAT CANNOT BE FIXED BY THEM. I CONTACTED THE LEXUS COMPANY MANY, MANY TIMES AND STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED A CLEAR EXPLANATION OF WHY THE LIGHT WILL NOT GO OFF. I EXPLAINED TO THEM THAT I HAVE LOOKED AT THE LEXUS MANUAL AND IT STATED THAT IF THAT LIGHT REMAIN ON, THE VEHICLE SHOULD BE TAKEN TO A LEXUS DEALER TO INVESTIGATE THE ISSUE. ON NOVEMBER 21ST LEXUS SCHEDULED ME TO TAKE MY VEHICLE IN TO THE TOYOTA DEALER TO INVESTIGATE THE SITUATION. I DID TAKE THE CAR IN AND TO THIS DATE LEXUS HAS NOT ANSWERED THE QUESTION WHETHER OR NOT THERE IS A DEFECT. "TAKATA RECALL". ON JULY 10, 2016 I RECEIVED A RECALL IN THE MAIL FROM LEXUS (TORRANCE, CA) ABOUT THE TAKATA FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG INFLATOR. THE RECALL NOTICE GOES ON TO SAY "UNTIL THE REMEDY BECOMES AVAILABLE, WE RECOMMEND THAT YOU DO NOT OPERATE THE VEHICLE WITH AN OCCUPANT IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT". I AM WRITING THESE COMMENTS ON DECEMBER 29, 2016. SO IT'S BEEN 5 MONTHS SINCE I'VE RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTICE. I'VE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH MY LOCAL LEXUS DEALER AND WELL AS LEXUS IN TORRANCE , CA AND NEITHER ONE CAN GIVE MY ANY TIME TABLE ON WHEN THE REPAIRS CAN BE MADE. MY WIFE REFUSES TO SIT IN THE REAR SEAT OF THE CAR BECAUSE IT IS NOT AS COMFORTABLE AS THE PASSENGER FRONT SEAT, NOR IS THE REAR SEAT HEATED (WHICH IS ONE OF THE MAIN REASONS SHE LIKES THE CAR -- SHE HAS BACK PAIN PROBLEMS). SO WHAT I NOW HAVE IS A CAR THAT COST ME $41,000 (CASH) THAT I CAN HARDLY USE. I FEEL THERE SHOULD BE SOME COMPENSATION FOR THIS INCONVENIENCE, BUT CONVERSATIONS WITH THE LOCAL LEXUS DEALERSHIP AS WELL AS LEXUS, TORRANCE, CA HAVE BEEN EXTREMELY UNSUCCESSFUL. I SHOULD ADD THAT OVER THE PAST FEW YEARS, I HAVE PURCHASED FROM LEXUS/TOYATA 5 BRAND NEW CARS. I DID THIS AS A PRIVATE CITIZEN, NOT AS A BUSINESS PURCHASE.

HOWEVER, THE SERVICE MANAGER WAS IN A MEETING AND WOULD CALL ME BACK AT 11:00 AM WITH THE PARTICULARS ON HOW TO GO ABOUT GETTING INTO THE VEHICLE. SINCE I DID NOT RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE SERVICE MANAGER I CALLED BACK AND WAS TOLD THAT MY VEHICLE WAS SAFE TO DRIVE AND I WOULD NOT GET A LOANER CAR. I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT IF I HAD ANY OTHER CONCERNS TO CALL LEXUS CUSTOMER SERVICE . I CALLED LEXUS CUSTOMER SERVICE AND EXPLAINED THAT IT IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE THAT I CANNOT USE MY PASSENGER FRONT SEAT WITHOUT THE RISK OF INJURY OR DEATH TO THE FRONT SEAT PASSENGER. AT APPROXIMATELY 7:23 PM ON JULY 8, 2012, WHILE PARKING IN THE PARKING LOT OF OUR LOCAL CHURCH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN. THE CAR WAS ALMOST AT A COMPLETE STOP, WHEN THIS SUDDEN UNCONTROLLED ACCELERATION OCCURRED. AT APPROXIMATELY 6:30PM, WHILE MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN INTO A FRIENDS DRIVEWAY, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED ON IT'S OWN, AND THE BRAKES WOULD NOT WORK. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO THE RIGHT AS IF LOCKED IN TO THE RIGHT HAND POSITION, HIT A TREE AND FINALLY CAME TO A STOP BY HITTING HIGH CONCRETE STEPS. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND LATER TO THE BODY SHOP AS THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DRIVABLE. DURING THE INTERIM, THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY TOYOTA. POST INVESTIGATION, THE LETTER RECENTLY RECEIVED FROM TOYOTA STATES "DURING THE LIMITED TEST DRIVE ACCELERATING AND BRAKING TESTS WERE CONDUCTED AND THE VEHICLE PERFORMED WITH NO ABNORMALITIES FOUND". THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DRIVABLE PER THE MECHANIC AT THE DEALERSHIP AND THE MECHANIC AT THE BODY SHOP, DUE TO THE SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE AND FLUID LEAKAGE. AT ABOUT 2:00 PM ON DEC 26, 2011, WHILE PARKING IN A PUBLIC COVERED GARAGE, I TURNED INTO THE PARKING SPACE, POSITIONED MY CAR, AND WAS ABOUT TO TURN OFF THE ENGINE WHEN THE CAR LURCHED FORWARD, HITTING THE CONCRETE WALL IN FRONT OF ME. THE PASSENGER IN MY CAR, MY 21 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER, ALSO A LICENSED DRIVER, FELT THE CAR LURCH AND ACCELERATE FORWARD. SINCE I HAD REACHED A GOOD PARKING POSITION, I AM CERTAIN THAT I HAD MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE. THE INJURY TO MY FOOT, FROM ALL INDICATIONS, SHOWS THAT MY FOOT WAS ON THE BREAK. I HAD IT X-RAYED ON DEC 27 AT A PATIENT FIRST MEDICAL FACILITY AND ALSO WAS SEEN ON DEC 28, BY MY FAMILY PHYSICIAN. HE EXAMINED MY FOOT AND INDICATED THAT MY ANKLE SPRAIN WAS INJURED AS I WAS BRAKING; IT WOULD NOT HAVE SUSTAINED THAT INJURY IF MY ANKLE WOULD HAVE BEEN ON THE ACCELERATOR. *KB
CAPABILITY OF LEXUS ES 350 YEAR 2007: IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE FOR ONE TO BE LOCKED OUT OF ONE'S CAR WITH THE SMART KEY IN THE CABIN OR IN THE TRUNK. IF THE SMART KEY WERE IN THE CABIN, ONE COULD NOT LOCK THE DOORS AND WOULD BE ALERTED WITH LOUD CONTINUOUS SIGNAL. IF THE SMART KEY WERE IN THE TRUNK, ONE COULD NOT LOCK THE TRUNK AND WOULD ALERTED WITH A LOUD CONTINUOUS SIGNAL. THIS CAPABILITY DOES NOT EXIST WITH THE LEXUS ES 350 YEAR 2011: IF ONE LOCKS ALL THE DOORS TO THE CABIN AND THEN ACCIDENTALLY PLACES THE SMART KEY INTO THE TRUNK. WHILE TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY WITH THE TRAFFIC AT APPROXIMATELY 70MPH, MIDMORNING, WE HEARD A LOUD POP FROM THE CAR. WE SAW NOTHING ON THE ROAD AND NO ONE ELSE TRAVELING AROUND US EXPERIENCED ANY PROBLEMS. WE WERE NOTIFIED BY A CAR TRAVELING NEXT TO US THAT WE WERE LEAKING GAS. WE PROCEEDED OFF THE HIGHWAY AT THE FIRST EXIT AND PULLED INTO A GAS STATION AND SHUT DOWN THE CAR. WITHIN 8-10 MIN, THE ENTIRE TANK OF GAS (WE JUST FILLED THE TANK UP APPROXIMATELY 20 MIN PRIOR) HAD LEAKED ONTO THE GROUND. THE FIRE DEPT WAS CALLED JUST IN CASE THE CAR BLEW UP. THE FIREFIGHTER LOOKED UNDER THE VEHICLE AND PUT A PLUG IN THE GAS TANK TO STOP WHAT FUEL WAS LEFT FROM LEAKING OUT THE TANK. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE CLOSEST DEALER. THE SERVICEMAN AT THE DEALERSHIP DETERMINED THE CAR HAD A WHOLE IN THE GAS TANK, A DENTED OIL PAN AND A SMALL 2IN GASH IN THE SPARE-TIRE WELL ( THE LATTER TWO WE NEVER VERIFIED). THE VEHICLE, PURCHASED NEW 1 MONTH PRIOR, HAD BEEN DRIVEN APPROXIMATELY 600-800 MILES WITHIN A 4 DAY PERIOD. AS THE MAIN DRIVER, I NOTICED THE VEHICLE HAD A SLOW TAKEOFF AND TOOK SEVERAL PUSHES OF THE GAS PEDDLE TO GET MOVING EVENTHOUGH IT IS A 6 CYLINDER VEHICLE. *TR
