During a braking event that caused my ABS to activate, my brake pedal traveled almost all the way to the floor. I was able to stop the car without accident but feel unsafe driving it. After much research I located Ford safety recall 19S54 which describes my issue exactly, unfortunately Ford has decided to only issue the recall for model years 2006 to 2010.
SECONDS AFTER STARTING AND DRIVING APPROX 200 FEET MY, 2011 LINCOLN MKZ HYBRID , CARS POWER STEERING STOP WORKING. ON THE MESSAGE CENTER ON THE DASH LITE UP LISTING THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILURE IN RED LETTERS. I STOPPED TURN THE KEY OFF RESTARTED THE CAR UPON STEERING WAS NORMAL, THIS HAS HAPPENED 4 TIMES IN THE LAST TWO MONTHS, I HAD THE FORD DEALER,"MULLAHEY FORD" IN ARROYO GRANDE LOOK AT IT. HE STATED THAT NO CODES CAME UP SO THEY WOULD NOT DO ANY REPAIRS, WE PURCHASED A FULL WARRANTY, $3500 FOR REPAIRS BUT HE WASNT WILLING TO REPAIR IT SINCE NO CODES AROSE ON THE CARS COMPUTER.
My brakes completely gave out forcing me to use the handbrake. I took it to a Ford service shop and they said the problem was the HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT. The part itself is on hold due to a recall. However, my car has not been placed on the recall list. I ended up paying out of pocket to have it fixed but was advised that Ford could reimburse me once NHTSA sends the recall notice. Side note: Ford was the third shop I took it to. The other two mechanics could not diagnose the problem. The attached invoice has my name wrong. It's [XXX]. MY CAR COULDN'T BREAK, SUDDENLY GOT WARNING WHILE DRIVING THROUGH A PARKING LOT BY WALMART STORE. RED "CHECK BRAKE SYSTEM" YELLOW "SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC" "BREAK" AND "ABS" DASH LIGHTS STARTED POPPING UP AND I COULD NOT EVEN BREAK A LITTLE BIT EVEN AFTER STEPPING ON THE BREAK PEDAL REAL HARD, I WAS FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO NOT HAVING ANYONE IN FRONT OF ME ON THE PARKING LOT AS I ABSOLUTELY COULDN'T BREAK!!!!!! I PUT MY BLINKERS ON AND PLACED THE CAR IN PARKING GEAR, YET IT WOULDN'T STOP!! I FINALLY HAD TO TURN OFF THE IGNITION THEN THERE WAS A BIG SHAKE AND THE ENGINE STALLED FINALLY AND VEHICLE CAME TO A HALT. VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP VIA AAA TOWING. THE LOCAL LINCOLN DEALERSHIP DID NOT SHOW ANY CONCERN AND WERE COMPLETELY IGNORANT OF MY NARRATING THIS TO THEM. THEY SIMPLY SLAPPED A CHARGE OF $3061 AND SAID THAT IT NEEDS REPLACING ABS MODULE AND A CHANGE OF HCU (HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT) AND STATED THAT THERE IS NO RECALL ON THESE COMPONENTS. I CALLED LINCOLN GLOBAL TO PLACE A COMPLAINT AND TO CHECK IF THIS WAS A 'KNOWN' ISSUE WITH LINCOLN MKZ 2011 MODEL. THEY SAID CURRENTLY THEY DO NOT HAVE A RECALL ON THIS COMPONENT. I STRONGLY BELIEVE THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN AS IT AFFECTS BRAKES DIRECTLY AND THERE IS ZERO POSSIBILITY TO STOP THE VEHICLE. I WAS FORTUNATE THIS OCCURRED IN A PARKING LOT WHERE THERE WAS NOT ANYONE IN FRONT OF MY VEHICLE WHILE IT OCCURRED. WHILE I'M WORKING WITH THE DEALERSHIP ON GETTING THE PRICE OF THE SERVICE A LITTLE DOWN, THATS NOT OF MY MAIN CONCERN. THE BRAKE FAILURE OF THIS NATURE COULD BE FATAL FOR BOTH DRIVER/PASSENGER AND PEOPLE ON THE WAY OF THE VEHICLE. PLEASE LODGE THIS AS A RECALL INVESTIGATION/COMPLAINT. THERE IS NO ISSUE FOUND WITH THE BREAK PADS OR BREAK LINING, DRUM ETC. ALL ARE NORMAL. VEHICLE IS REGULARLY MAINTAINED WITH SAME LINCOLN DEALERSHIP AT ALL TIMES AT ALL GIVEN INTERVALS.
I WAS DRIVING, NORMALLY AROUND TOWN. MY BRAKES HAVE BEEN WORKING FIND AND NORMAL UP UNTIL THIS POINT. THEN, ALL OF SUDDEN I WENT TO PRESS MY BRAKES AND THE PEDAL ALMOST WENT TO THE FLOOR. LUCKILY, THERE WAS NOT ANY CARS IN FRONT OF ME OR WAS AT AN INTERSECTION. SEVERAL WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON: CHECK ENGINE WRENCH, ABS LIGHT, SERVICE ADVANCE TRACK AND E BRAKE LIGHT. SO, I WAS CLOSE TO MY HOME AND I DROVE IT SLOWLY TO MY HOUSE AND CHECKED UNDERNEATH THE HOOD. THE BRAKE FLUID LEVEL WAS FINE AND NO BRAKE LINE LEAKS WHATSOEVER. NEXT, I RESEARCHED THE PROBLEM ONLINE AND FOUND OUT THAT IT IS AN ABS MODULE FAILURE. I ALSO FOUND OUT THAT FORD HAD A RECALL ON THEIR ABS SYSTEM, BUT FOR ONLY YEARS 2006-2010. GO FIGURE, THE NEW MODULE COSTS OVER $500 PLUS, THEN LABOR CHARGES AND A DEALER HAS TO REPROGRAM THE ABS SYSTEM. WOW, WHAT A SUPER EXPENSIVE UNFORESEEN REPAIR PILL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 LINCOLN MKZ HYBRID. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE MAKING A TURN FROM A STOP SIGN, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME HARD TO MANEUVER. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE WAS HIT ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYED INJURING HIS GIRLFRIEND. HIS GIRLFRIEND SUSTAINED CUTS TO THE STOMACH AS THE CONTACT STATED IT SEEMED THAT METAL SHRAPNEL HAD DEPLOYED FROM THE AIR BAG. THE PASSENGER IN THE REAR MIDDLE ALSO SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE HIP. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS REQUIRED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT STATED PRIOR TO THE COLLISION, HE CONTACTED ST AUTO SALES INC (4545 GLENWOOD RD, DECATUR, GA) TO MAKE THEM AWARE OF THE STEERING WHEEL FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THEY ADVISED HIM TO ADD STEERING FLUID TO THE RESERVOIR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC OR DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS AFTER THE COLLISION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.*DT

THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 89,000.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY WITH NO WARNING MY ENGINE STARTED KNOCKING REAL BAD AND THEN I LOST ALL POWER DUE TO THE ENGINE STOPPING. HAD I BEEN ON AN INTERSTATE WITH LOTS OF TRAFFIC THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. AFTER A TOW AND TAKING THE CAR TO A FORD DEALERSHIP. I FOUND OUT THAT THE WATER PUMP FAILED AND ALLOWED COOLANT TO GO INTO THE OIL PAN, CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE BEARING ON THE PISTONS. AFTER RESEARCH I FOUND THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW WITH FORDS 3.5 ENGINE AND MILLIONS OF CARS ARE ON THE ROAD NOW THAT WILL EVENTUALLY EXPERIENCE THIS FAILURE. I HAVE RECENTLY HAD THE CAR INTO A FORD DEALERSHIP AND HAD THEY TOLD ME OF THIS PROBLEM AND THE FIX WAS TO REPLACE THE WATER PUMP BEFORE IT FAILED, I WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN SUBJECTED TO THIS DANGEROUS DRIVING CONDITION AND MY ENGINE WOULDN'T NOW BE A PAPERWEIGHT.

THE DOOR HATCH IS BROKEN, , IT IS HARD TO SHUT AND LATCH THE DOOR. THE DOOR ALTHOUGH SHUT AND LATCHED HAS COME OPEN WHILE THE VEHICLE HAS BEING DRIVEN. THIS HAS OCCURED SEVERAL TIMES. IT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE THIS CAR.
STEERING ON VEHICLE WENT OUT IN MID MARCH 2020 DUE TO RECALL ON LINCOLN MKZ. VEHICLE HAS BEEN BACK TO DEALER THREE TIMES FOR AN EXTENDED AMOUNT OF TIME TWICE WITH NO RENTAL VEHICLE. NEED TO USE THIS CAR TO GO OUT OF TOWN AFTER THE DEALER INFORMED ME THE CAR SITS AND WAITS FOR A RESPONSE FORM LINCOLN HOTLINE MOST OF THE TIME. NEED TO USE THIS CAR TO GO OUT OF TOWN LINCOLN ADVISED THEY WOULD NOT EXTEND ME ANY TIME OF RENTAL OR REIMBURSEMENT FOR THIS ISSUE WHICH IS A RECALL THAT CAN NOT BE REPAIRED CORRECTLY AND HAS LEFT ME WITH OUT MY VEHICLE FOR MULTIPLE WEEKS. THE TREAD SEPARATED FROM THE TIRE BODY ON A REPLACEMENT FIRESTONE TIRE. THE REPLACEMENT WAS MADE BY FIRESTONE BECAUSE OF A RECALL FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. THE TIRE HAD SEVERAL THOUSAND MILES ON IT SINCE IT WAS REPLACED. THE TREAD STARTED SEPARATING SEVERAL WEEKS BEFORE WE HAD IT REPLACED WITH A GOODYEAR TIRE.
WHEN PULLING OUT OF DRIVEWAY THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR OPENED. WASN'T ABLE TO LATCH THE DOOR. I HAD TO PUT A BUNGEE CORD TO KEEP DOOR FROM OPENING. THE CAR ISN'T SAFE TO DRIVE. THE VEHICLE WILL BE TOWED TO GET REPAIRED.
I STARTED MY CAR AND PRESSED THE PEDAL TO SHIFT INTO REVERSE AND STARTED TO BACK UP FROM A PARKING SPOT. THE PEDAL SUDDENLY WENT TO THE FLOOR AND THE CAR KEPT MOVING, PULLED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. HAD WARNING LCD ICONS IN RED ABOUT BRAKES. TRIED SHUTTING CAR OFF AND RESTARTING TO SEE IF CONDITION CHANGED, NO CHANGE, PEDAL WENT TO FLOOR AND NO PRESSURE. CHECKED FOR LEAKS UNDER CAR AND NO LEAKS OF BRAKE FLUID WERE PRESENT. AS I COULD BUILD PRESSURE SLOWLY AND HAD THE EBRAKE, I DROVE SLOWLY TO THE NEAREST DEALER. WHILE DRIVING OTHER MESSAGES CAME ON TO SERVICE ADVANCE TRAK AND THE YELLOW WRENCH. PEDAL WOULD MAKE CONTACT WITH BRAKES AT THE VERY LOWEST POINT OR BY PUMPING BRAKES OTHERWISE I WOULD HAVE NOT DRIVEN TO THE NEARBY DEALER. I COULD HAVE GOTTEN INTO A SERIOUS ACCIDENT HAD THIS HAPPENED AT HIGHER SPEEDS THAN BACKING OUT OF A SPOT BECAUSE ITS SO SUDDEN AND YOUR STOPPING DISTANCE IS GREATLY AFFECTED EVEN WITH SOMETHING SO SLOW AS ADJUSTING A PARKING JOB. CAR HAD AROUND 96,140 MILES WHEN IT HAPPENED. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS CONDITION AS EVEN AT LOW SPEEDS I NEEDED A LARGE DISTANCE TO STOP SAFELY BEFORE CARS IN FRONT OF ME. CAR IS AT THE DEALER AND WAS JUST QUOTED 1,100 DOLLARS BUT THIS DOES SEEM TO BE THE SAME ISSUE I READ ABOUT FOR PREVIOUS YEARS RECALLS AND SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED.
THE HYBRID MODE DOES NOT WORK ANYMORE AFTER 9 YEARS. THE VEHICLE HESITATES UPON ACCELERATION. IT WILL ONLY RUN ON THE INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE EVEN THOUGH THE BATTERY IS FULLY CHARGED. FORD KNOWS ABOUT THE PROBLEM AS NOTED IN THEIR OASIS 8922.
LIKE 2,000,000 OTHER FORD AND LINCOLN VEHICLES ALREADY UNDER RECALL, MY DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR LATCH IS DEFECTIVE. YESTERDAY, WHEN I WENT TO OPEN THE DOOR, THE HANDLE SWUNG OPEN WITHOUT OPENING THE DOOR. AFTER DOING SOME ONLINE RESEARCH, I FOUND THIS IS AN EXTENSIVE PROBLEM AFFECTING FORD AND LINCOLN VEHICLES MANUFACTURED BETWEEN 2010 THROUGH 2015. PLEASE EXPAND YOUR RECALL TO INCLUDE THE 2011 TO 2012 LINCOLN MKZ'S IN ADDITION TO TO 2013 THROUGH 2015 MKZ'S ALREADY UNDER RECALL.
I WAS TRAVELING DOWN A HILL THAT ENDS WITH A STOPLIGHT ON A BACKROAD IN THE CITY. THE LIGHT TURNED RED, I APPLIED MY BRAKES AND MY FOOT WENT TO THE FLOOR WITH NO BRAKE PRESSURE. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER AND USE MY EMERGENCY BRAKE TO STOP ME. THERE WAS NO FLUIDS VISIBLE.

DRIVING ON A CITY STREET ALL OF THE SUDDEN WARNING LIGHTS COME ON: ABS, TRACTION CONTROL, GIANT WRENCH, P/BRAKE LIGHT, SERVICE ADVANCETRAC. BRAKE PEDAL ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR, I BLEW A STOP SIGN, AS CAR WAS SLOWING DOWN, BUT THAN JUST ROLLED THRU THE INTERSECTION. HAD TO USE A PARKING BRAKE TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP WHEN I WAS LOOKING FOR A SAFE SPOT TO PULL OVER. HAD TO REPLACE HYDRAULIC CONTROL MODULE AND ABS MODULE.

DUE TO A VEHICLE BEING A HYBRID, COAST ON BATTERY POWER TO A SHOULDER. THROTTLE BODY HAD TO BE REPLACED. THERE WAS A RECALL FOR A FORD FUSION AND A MERCURY MILAN FOR THE SAME PROBLEM, BUT NO RECALL FOR A LINCOLN MKZ AND NO RECALL FOR A HYBRID. ALTHOUGH THEY USE EXACTLY THE SAME PART NUMBER FOR A THROTTLE BODY.
THE VEHICLE REMAINED WITHOUT BRAKES WHILE DRIVING. ONE WEEK AND I HAVE NO NEWS. PLEASE CALL LINCOLN AND HOW THE CAR CARRIES FOR 8 YEARS, THEY DID NOT WANT TO DO ANYTHING WHEN IT IS SOMETHING OF SAFETY AND LIFE.

THE CONTACT RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO THE CERTIFIED MECHANIC WHO DISCOVERED A MECHANISM UNDER THE BRAKE PEDAL THAT PROHIBITED THE BRAKE PEDAL FROM BEING ABLE TO BE DEPRESSED APPROPRIATELY. THE MECHANISM WAS REMOVED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE; HOWEVER, THE CONTACT HAD NOT YET RECEIVED A RESPONSE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000. THE CONSUMER STATED THERE WAS AN OBSTRUCTION ABOVE THE GAS AND BRAKE PEDALS. THE OBSTRUCTION PREVENT THE DRIVER FROM APPLYING THE NECESSARY PRESSURE TO THE PEDALS. A MECHANIC STATED THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO POOR RESPONSE TIMING OF THE VEHICLE'S MASTER CYLINDER. THE MASTER CYLINDER WAS REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL MORE TIMES. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED WAS WHILE DRIVING WHEN MY WHEEL LOCKED UP AND I WAS UNABLE TO TURN IT AT ALL. IT HAPPENED AGAIN AFTER GAS AT A GAS STATION, I WAS STATIONARY BUT THE STEERING WHEEL STILL LOCKED UP.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED THE CONTACT WITH CASE NUMBER: 24287519. THE CONTACT MENTIONED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V340000 (STEERING). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 74,700.
WRENCH APOEARS AND CAR SUDDENLY GOES IN LIMP MODE WHILE DRIVING.
I WAS DRIVING AT ROUGHLY 35MPH SUDDENLY AND WITHOUT ANY WARNING LIGHTS OR CHIMES, MY BRAKES LOST PRESSURE, THE PEDAL THEN SUNK TO THE FLOOR. UPON PUMPING THE BRAKES A FEW TIMES I WAS ABLE TO SLOW TO A STOP BUT THE PEDAL THEN CONTINUED TO SINK TO THE FLOOR. UPON GOING ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR, THE CAR BARELY STOPS AND PULLS HARD LEFT, AS IF THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT BRAKES AREN'T WORKING.
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR SEND A FAULT CODE OF SERVICE POWER STEERING AND LOSS OF POWER STEERING HAPPENS IMMEDIATELY. TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY SAID THEY FIXED THE ISSUE (REPLACED POWER STEERING MOTOR AND REPROGRAMMED). PICKED UP THE CAR AND WITHIN 16 HOURS AS I WAS MAKING A TURN THE SAME ISSUE HAPPENED. AT ANY GIVEN TIME THE BRAKES WILL GO OUT IN THE CAR AND GIVE A FAULT CODE TO CHECK ABS SYSTEM. THIS HAS HAPPENED 4 TIMES OVER A 2 YEAR PERIOD, ONE OF THOSE TIMES I WAS GOING 55 MPH AND WENT TO STOP AT A YELLOW LIGHT. MY BRAKES FAILED AND I ENDED UP RUNNING THE RED LIGHT ALMOST HITTING A CAR STARTING TO CROSS FROM THE OTHER DIRECTION. ONCE YOU SHUT OFF THE CAR AND TURN IT BACK ON THE BRAKES WORK AGAIN LIKE NOTHING WAS EVER WRONG. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. EACH TIME IT HAS DONE THIS THE DEALERSHIP CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. I'VE SEEN OTHER PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE THAT HAS CAUSED ACCIDENTS, I'M NOT SURE WHY THERE HASN'T BEEN ANYTHING DONE ABOUT IT YET.

I PURCHASED THIS CAR NEW IN JAN 2011. INTERMITTENTLY, THE ENTIRE SOUND SYSTEM STOPS WORKING (RADIO, CD PLAYER, AND NAVIGATION SYSTEM). THIS MEANS THAT IF, THE DRIVER HAS ENGAGED THE NAVIGATION SYSTEM RELYING ON THE VOICE INSTRUCTIONS WHICH SUDDENLY DO NOT WORK, HE/SHE MUST THEN LOOK AT THE SMALL SCREEN FOR UPCOMING TURNS AND OTHER INFORMATION MORE FREQUENTLY THAN WHEN THE VOICE INSTRUCTIONS ARE WORKING. HE INDICATED THAT THERE IS NO RECALL ON THIS ISSUE, ALTHOUGH I RECALL A NOTIFICATION ABOUT DOOR PROBLEMS. SEVERAL YEARS AGO THE LEFT DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND REQUIRED A DEALER FIX. THIS APPARENT DEFECT IN DOOR DESIGN POSES A POTENTIALLY SERIOUS SAFETY RISK IF AN OCCUPANT NEEDS TO EXIT THE VEHICLE IN AN EMERGENCY. IF WE HOLD TWO PARTS OF THE HANDLE AT THE SAME TIME WE CAN GET THE DOOR OPEN. I HAVE CARPAL TUNNEL AND THAT IS SOMETIMES DIFFICULT. WHEN I ASKED ABOUT A RECALL I WAS TOLD NOT YET BUT THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN CORRECTED IN LATER MODELS. IF IT IS EVER RECALLED WE WILL GET OUR REPAIR MONEY BACK. I HAD HEARD A WHEEZING NOISE IN THE FRONT END SO I TOOK THE CAR TO MY MECHANIC. HE WAS UNABLE TO FIND A PROBLEM. A WEEK AFTER WHILE DRIVING THE CAR I WAS DRIVING AND AS I TURNED THE CAR COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN. TWO DAYS LATER IT BEGAN TO NOT DRIVE PROPERLY I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE MECHANIC AND SAID I HAD A BAD SENSOR BUT THE WATER PUMP WAS GOING BAD. HE STATED IT SHOULDN'T GO BAD IN THIS NEWER OF A CAR. MY CAR HAS BEEN UNDRIVABLE EVER SINCE. I'VE CALLED AROUND TO GET IT FIXED AS THOUGH IT SEEMS NOBODY HAS THE PROPER TOOLS TO FIX THIS ISSUE DUE TO THE FACT THE WHOLE ENGINE NEEDS TO BE REMOVED TO FIX THE PROBLEM.

NOT ONLY DO THEY NOT HAVE A PART, THEY HAVE NOT EVEN DEVELOPED THE PART YET!!" I SPOKE TO THREE DIFFERENT PEOPLE AT LINCOLN CUSTOMER SERVICE AND A SUPERVISOR ABOUT THIS SITUATION. DURING MY LAST OIL CHANGE, ON7/28/15, AT 37,440MI, I WAS INFORMED THAT I HAD CRACKS AND IN ALL OF THE TIRE WALLS AND WOULD NEED TO REPLACE ALL 4 TIRES IMMEDIATELY.I BOUGHT THE CAR AT THE DEALER THAT WAS DOING THE OIL CHANGE. WHEN I ARGUED THAT THE TIRE WARRANTY GUIDE THAT CAME WITH THE CAR INDICATED THAT THE TIRES WERE GOOD FOR 60K, I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS MY FAULT THAT THE SIDEWALLS HAD CRACKS, BECAUSE I HAD NOT ROTATED THE TIRES ON A REGULAR BASIS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER MIGHT HAVE FAILED BUT WAS UNAWARE HOW TO REMEDY THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 20,000.
3/5/14 DRIVER AND PASSENGER CLIMATE CONTROL SEATS ARE INOPERATIVE. NO INDICATOR LIGHT AFTER PRESSING BUTTONS. TOOK TO DEALER 3/12/14. FROM DEALER WRITEUP: VERIFIED CLIMATE CONTROLLED SEATS ARE INOP. SELF TESTED, COULD NOT COMMUNICATE WITH DCSM MODULE. RAN OASIS, NO MESSAGES MATCH CONCERN. PERFORMED SYMPTOM CHART TO PINPOINT TESTS CONCLUDING A BAD DCSM MODULE AND MAIN CONNECTOR WAS MELTED. REPLACED CONNECTOR AND CHECKED ALL CIRCUITS, OK. REPLACED MODULE AND RECHECKED OPERATION FOR BOTH SATS, OK. RETURNED CAR TO DEALER ON 3/17/14. AFTER TURNING ON CLIMATE CONTROL SEAT, LIGHT GOES OUT AFTER A FEW SECONDS. WAS TOLD BY DEALER SEATS WERE OPERATING CORRECTLY, CLIMATE CONTROL SEAT OPERATE ONLY WHEN GAS ENGINE IS RUNNING, THEY WOULD TURN OF WHEN CAR GOES INTO HYBRID MODE. THIS IS NOT HOW THE SEATS WORKED FOR THE PAST 2.5 YEARS. AFTER SEVERAL PHONE CALLS WITH LINCOLN CUSTOMER SATISFACTION GROUP WAS TOLD THAT THE SYNC UPGRADE PERFORMED IN MARCH 2012 WAS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH THE NEW DCSM MODULE INSTALLED. *TR

THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT BEFORE THE FAILURE, THE ENGINE EXHIBITED A REVING SOUND BUT THE CONTACT THOUGHT THAT THE NOISE WAS NORMAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL COLLISION SPECIALIST. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 18,500. THE 2011 MKZ FRONT SEATS HAVE A HARD BLOCK I THINK IS THE BOX FOR THE SEAT CONTROLS THAT IF YOU SIT IN IT FOR MORE THAN A FEW MINUTES STARTS HURTING THE BACK OF YOUR LEGS. IT ACTUALLY TAKES YOUR ATTENTION AWAY BECAUSE IT IS SO UN COMFORTABLE YOU ARE ALWAYS ADJUSTING THE WAY YOU ARE SITTING. I TOOK IT IN FOR SERVICE AND THE SERVICE TECH FELT IT AND TOLD ME THAT HE THOUGHT SOMETHING WAS WRONG TOO. HE CALLED ME THE NEXT DAY AND TOLD ME THAT THE SEAT WAS THE STANDARD AND THAT IS THE WAY THEY WERE MADE THERE WASN'T ANYTHING THEY COULD DO. WHEN I WENT BACK TO THE DEALER TO PICK UP MY MKZ I WENT INTO THE SHOW ROOM TO FEEL THE SEATS IN THE NEW MKZS AND THEY ARE ALL THE SAME. I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH CUSTOMER SERVICE, THEY SAID THE SEAT WAS STANDARD BUT IF THEY GET ENOUGH COMPLAINTS THEY MIGHT DO SOMETHING. THIS IS THE MOST UNCOMFORTABLE SEAT I HAVE EVER HAD, TAKING A LONG TRIP IS NOT PLEASANT. *TR

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2010 Ford Fusion, Mercury Milan and 2010-2012 Lincoln MKZ vehicles that previously received a replacement passenger air bag under recall 16V-384, 17V-024 or 18V-046. In the event of a crash requiring deployment of the passenger air bag, the bracket that secures the air bag inflator to the module housing may deform, allowing the gas that inflates the air bag to leak out.
