Summary

Vehicle was brought in for recall 2818I in January 2020. Still noticed a rough ride afterwards and believed issue to be with the rear suspension. Local independent auto repair shop inspected suspension and said all was well. Brought in for regular check up at Mazda dealer in September 2021. Mechanic took video to show the amount of rust on the rear subframe. Condition is beyond repair without replacement and is hazardous to drive. This should have been addressed with the front subframe recall. Definitely needs to be addressed by Mazda now.

Summary

The contact owns a 2011 Mazda Mazda6. The contact stated that while her son was driving at an undisclosed speed, the steering wheel was turned to the right inadvertently. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and diagnosed that there were holes in the subframe bracket. The contact was advised to contact the local dealer for assistance. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and the dealer informed the contact that the subframe bracket was installed prior to a recall repair as a temporary fix. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that they would approve the replacement of the front subframe, sway bar, and arms only as part of the warranty. The failure mileage was 103,000.

Rear CONTROL ARM broke off the REAR SUBFAME due heavy RUST. I had to replace the entire rear subframe plus both control arms. This incident occurred WHILE I WAS DRIVING! Now I find out that the front end is shot as well and that Mazda is only recalling the front subframe and not the rear and I want to know why. Somebody could have been killed. The repair cost me $700 plus rental fees for a vehicle. I had my vehicle in the shop for 16days. It cost me $1,135. I have the invoices.

THE DOOR LOCK MECHANISM ON MY DRIVERS SIDE REAR DOOR DOES NOT LOCK COMPLETELY. IT HAS TO BE MANUALLY PUSHED IN ABOUT 4-5MM IN ORDER TO ENGAGE THE LOCK. AFTER LOCKING, THE DOOR CAN BE UNLOCKED AFTER PULLING THE OUTSIDE HANDLE 2 TIMES, SETTING THE ALARM OFF. THIS IS EXTREMELY UNSAFE IF TRAVELING THROUGH DANGEROUS AREAS OR IF THE VEHICLE WERE TO BE APPROACHED BY SOMEONE WITH AN ILL INTENT WHILE THE VEHICLE IS OCCUPIED.

MAZDA HAS RECALLED AND REPLACED FRONT SUB-FRAMES FOR CORROSION RELATED ISSUES. MAZDA HAS NOT RECALLED REAR SUB-FRAMES WHICH HAVE THE SAME CORROSION RELATED ISSUES FROM IMPROPER STEEL QUALITY OR FAULT MANUFACTURING OF THE STEEL COMPONENTS. UPON INSPECTION OF REAR SUB-FRAME, MULTIPLE HOLES IN THE REAR SUB-FRAME WERE OBSERVED, INCLUDING MULTIPLE HOLES AT THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR SPRING MOUNT WHICH SIGNIFICANTLY COMPROMISES THE STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY. I AM NOW AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CAR AT HIGH SPEEDS IN FEAR OF CATASTROPHIC FAILURE AND A CRASH. MAZDA DEALERSHIP HAS STATED IT IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY OR RECALL AND WILL COST ME APPROXIMATELY $4,000.00 TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE REAR-SUBFRAME. THIS IS NOT A MAINTENANCE ITEM IN MY OPINION ON A LESS THAN 10 YEAR OLD VEHICLE I BOUGHT NEW, AND IS A DEFECT FROM THE MANUFACTURER SIMILAR TO THE FRONT SUB-FRAMES. UPON INVESTIGATION ON THE INTERNET, NUMEROUS MAZDA6 OWNERS WHO HAD FRONT SUB-FRAMES REPLACED ALSO HAVE SAME ISSUE. *TR

I PURCHASED THIS CAR IN MAY 2016 WITH 68K MILES ON IT. FIRST MONTH REPLACED BOTH HEADLIGHTS BECAUSE THE DRIVERS SIDE WENT OUT. FIGURED OK NO PROBLEM NORMAL SITUATION, REPLACED BOTH DUE TO GOOD PRACTICE YOU DON'T JUST REPLACE ONE. FAST FORWARD 3 MONTHS LATER, THINK IT WAS ALMOST THANKSGIVING. IT WAS GETTING DARK, AND I FIGURED OK IT SEEMS WAY DARKER THAN IT SHOULD. I PULLED OVER TO REALIZE, I HAD NO HEADLIGHTS. I PROCEEDED UP THE ROAD TO WHERE I KNEW AN AUTOZONE WAS, AND PURCHASED A NEW SET OF SYLVANIA LONG LIFE BULBS, I THINK, I JUST KNOW THEY WERE EXPENSIVE, ABOUT $120. SO I WHIPPED OUT THE CREDIT CARD AND PURCHASED THEM ALONG WITH A SCREW DRIVER AND PLIERS AND PROCEEDED TO DESTROY MY NEW CARHART SWEATSHIRT LAYING IN THE PARKING LOT JAMMING MY ARMS IN THE WHEEL WELLS TO REPLACE THESE BULBS. YEAH THIS WAS REAL FUN CONSIDERING IT STARTED TO RAIN. ANYWAY, I WON THAT BATTLE, BUT LITTLE DID I KNOW I WAS GOING TO LOSE THE WAR! PLEASE SEE WORD DOCUMENT ATTACHED FOR REST OF THIS NIGHTMARE. I RAN OUT OF SPACE TRYING TO DESCRIBE IT HERE.

WAS DRIVING ON INTERSTATE AT 70MPH AND APPLIED BREAKS, HEARD A BANG FROM AREA OF PASSENGER FRONT SIDE AND LOST CONTROL OF THE STEERING OF THE VEHICLE CAUSING IT SWERVE INTO THE ADJACENT LANE ON MY RIGHT. I NARROWLY AVOIDED BEING HITTING AND BEING HIT BY OTHER VEHICLES AND WAS ABLE GET THE CAR TO THE SHOULDER EVENT WITHOUT HAVING PROPER CONTROL STEERING AS THE CAR WOULD ONLY STEER TO THE RIGHT. UPON INSPECTING THE VEHICLE IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE BANG WAS THE PASSENGER SIDE SUBFRAME CRACKING DUE TO HEAVY DETERIORATION FROM RUST. THE CAR IS UNDERIVABLE. I CONTACTED MAZDA AND DISCOVERED THAT THE PREVIOUS YEARS OF THIS MODEL HAVE A RECALL FOR THIS SUBFRAME DETERIORATION ISSUE FOR THE SAME EXACT PART #. I WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT THE CAR CANNOT BE FIXED AS BECAUSE OF THE PART # IS NOT AVAILABLE AND HAS/IS ON BACKORDER FOR MANY MONTHS. THIS DEFECT IS A HUGE SAFETY RISK, IN MY CASE I AM VERY LUCKY THIS DID NOT RESULT IN FATAL ACCIDENT TRAVELING AT 70MPH ON INTERSTATE 80. I FEAR OTHER MIGHT NOT BE SO LUCKY. THE SUBFRAME RECALL MOST CERTAINLY NEEDS TO BE EXPANDED TO AT LEAST 2011 AND SUBSEQUENT YEARS THAT USE THIS SAME SUBFRAME. ADDITIONALLY, AT MINIMUM COURTESY TO IT CUSTOMERS MAZDA SHOULD BE ALTERING ITS CUSTOMERS TO HAVE THEIR SUBFRAMES INSPECTED AS THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION WITH MANY VEHICLE OWNERS UN AWARE THEY ARE DRIVING TICKING TIME BOMBS WITH SUBFRAMES THAT ARE DETERIORATING PREMATURELY AND CAN LOSE CONTROL OF STEERING AT ANY MOMENT.

ON OCTOBER 2, 2018, DURING THE REGULARLY SCHEDULED 6-MONTH MAINTENANCE AND OIL CHANGE, MECHANIC AT MAZDA DEALERSHIP NOTIFIED ME OF SEVERE CORROSION ON FRONT AND REAR SUB FRAMES. ON FRIDAY OCTOBER 5, 2018, DEALERSHIP NOTIFIED ME THAT MAZDA WAS GOING TO REPAIR IT AT NO CHARGE TO ME. I WAS CONTACTED AGAIN TODAY OCTOBER 9, STATING THAT MY VEHICLE PASSED THE INITIAL INSPECTION TEST, THERE IS NO PERFORATION DEVELOPED FROM CORROSION, THE CAR IS SAFE TO DRIVE AND I SHOULD COME OVER TO PICK IT UP. AFTER LENGTHY DISCUSSION EXPRESSING ALL MY SAFETY CONCERNS (PLUS THE FACT THAT THERE ARE CURRENTLY MORE THAN 30 REPORTS INVESTIGATED WITH THE SAME ISSUE), MAZDA AGREED TO REPLACE IT AT GOODWILL. I REALLY HOPE NHTSA CAN CREATE A PRESSURE ON MAZDA TO START THE RECALL, BECAUSE THERE ARE NUMEROUS DRIVERS OF EFFECTED MODELS THAT DO NOT KNOW ABOUT THIS SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE.

IT WAS A WATER PUMP FAILURE. THERE IS A DESIGN FLAW IN THIS ENGINE. THE WATER PUMP IS INTEGRATED INTO THE ENGINE AND TIMING CHAIN. WHEN THE PUMP FAILS IT DAMAGES THE ENGINE, ALLOWING COOLANT TO MIX WITH THE OIL. I AM WRITING THIS LETTER BECAUSE I RECENTLY LEARNED ABOUT A SAFETY ISSUE WITH MY CAR DURING A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE ON THURSDAY, JULY 19, 2018. I WAS MADE AWARE BY THE MECHANIC THAT THE SUBFRAME ON MY 2011 MAZDA6 IS COVERED IN RUST AND SHOULD BE REPLACED. UPON TRUSTED INSPECTIONS FROM TWO DIFFERENT AUTO SHOPS, THE RESULT IS THE SAME: I NEED A NEW SUBFRAME BECAUSE IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS IF IT BROKE AWAY. I BOUGHT MY CAR NEW IN 2011, SO I AM SHOCKED THAT A MAJOR STRUCTURAL COMPONENT OF MY CAR IS NOW COMPROMISED, PUTTING MY SAFETY AT RISK. THE SUBFRAME IS ON NATIONWIDE BACK ORDER, WHICH TELLS ME (AND BOTH MECHANICS ECHOED EACH OTHER) THAT THIS IS A MUCH BIGGER PROBLEM. MY DAILY COMMUTE TO MY JOB HAS ME DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE, AT 70 MPH, AT A TOTAL OF APPROXIMATELY 80 MILES PER DAY. I NO LONGER FEEL SAFE WHEN DRIVING MY CAR. I DID SOME ONLINE RESEARCH AND DISCOVERED MAZDA HAD OVER 20 REPORTS FROM OWNERS WHO SAY RUST IN THEIR 2009-2010 MAZDA 6S HAS CAUSED, OR NEARLY CAUSED, A STEERING FAILURE. THIS EXTENDED EVEN FURTHER INTO OTHER MODEL MODELS FOR SUBFRAME ROT DEEMED DANGEROUS. IN 2016, MAZDA HAD TO RECALL 190,000 CX-7S FOR A SIMILAR ISSUE WHEREIN CORROSION WAS CAUSING SUSPENSION FAILURE. DAYS LATER, 2.2 MILLION MAZDAS WERE RECALLED WORLDWIDE. I CALLED MAZDA'S CUSTOMER SERVICE, BUT THEY DECLINED TO HELP ME BECAUSE 'I DIDN'T CONTINUE MY RELATIONSHIP WITH MAZDA", AFTER MY WARRANTY WAS UP. HOWEVER, WHILE UNDER WARRANTY, I ONLY TOOK MY CAR TO MAZDA FOR SERVICE BECAUSE I KNEW I HAD TO DUE TO THE WARRANTY, DESPITE THEIR COMPLETE INCOMPETENCE. DURING THE TIME MY CAR WAS UNDER WARRANTY AND WAS SERVICED AT MAZDA, THEY INSTALLED MY DRIVER'S WINDSHIELD WIPER BACKWARDS. IT POPPED OFF THE NEXT DAY DURING A DOWNPOUR. TWO TIMES THEY DIDN'T CLOSE MY HOOD FULLY (ONCE LEFT OIL CAP ON TOP OF MY ENGINE). FOR THESE REASONS, I SOUGHT OUT A MORE RELIABLE MECHANIC AFTER WARRANTY.

PASSENGER SIDE DASHBOARD IS GETTING A STICKY SURFACE ON TOP. THE TOP LAYER ALMOST SEEMS LIKE IT IS MELTING. IT IS JUST STARTING TO GET STICKY AND IT IS JUST ON TOP. THE STICKINESS HAS JUST STARTED IN THE LAST 2 WEEKS. THE STICKY SURFACE IS CAUSING A GLARE AND IS AFFECTING THE VISIBILITY WHEN DRIVING. FURTHER, THE DASHBOARD CRACKED ALL THE WAY DOWN AFTER HAVING THE AIR BAG REPLACED DUE TO THE RECALL. NO PRESSURE/DAMAGE/HITS HAS OCCURRED ON THE DASHBOARD BY CONSUMER AND YET IT CRACKED ALL THE WAY DOWN IN JANUARY 2018.

THERE APPEARS TO BE FLAW IN THE DOOR MECHANISMS THAT MAKE THE CAR THINK SOMEONE IS BREAKING IN DUE TO LOSS OF CONTACT WHEN THE CAR HAS BEEN LOCKED. TAKATA RECALL - I AM STILL WAITING FOR A REPLACEMENT AIR BAG FOR MY MAZDA 6. MY CAR WAS PART OF THE ORIGINAL RECALL LAST SUMMER. IT'S BEEN 8 MONTHS NOW, AND THE PART IS STILL NOT AVAILABLE. I RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER THAT WAS ABSOLUTELY TERRIFYING AND ADVISED ME THAT I SHOULD NOT USE THE PASSENGER SEAT BECAUSE IF THE AIR BAG DEPLOYED IT COULD SERIOUSLY INJURE OR KILL ME. THIS RECALL IS REALLY PUTTING ME AT A DISADVANTAGE. I ONLY HAVE 1 CAR. I CAN'T AFFORD TO BUY ANOTHER ONE, AND I FEEL UNSAFE IN THIS CAR. NOT ONLY DO I NOT FEEL SAFE IN MY OWN CAR, MY SON HAS HIS DRIVING PERMIT, AND I'M NOT ABLE TO TEACH HIM HOW TO DRIVE BECAUSE I CAN'T USE THE PASSENGER SEAT. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE TO COMPENSATE THOSE OF US THAT ARE FORCED TO DEAL WITH A CAR RECALL WHICH IS CAUSING DISRUPTIONS TO OUR DAILY ROUTINE AND DELAYING BASIC LIFE LESSONS FROM OCCURRING LIKE STUDENT DRIVER'S EDUCATION.

CURRENTLY, I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR A REPLACEMENT DASHBOARD FOR THE LAST TWO YEARS. THE RIGHT SIDE OF MY DASH BOARD IS MELTED. APPARENTLY IT IS A FACTORY DEFECT IN MY MODEL CAR. TWO YEARS AGO THE DEALERSHIP TOOK PICTURES, SENT IN THE CLAIM, AND I STARTED WAITING. SINCE THEN I HAVE RECEIVED AT LEAST TWO LETTERS TO UPDATE ME TO THE FACT THAT THE PART STILL IS NOT AVAILABLE. SO I CONTINUE TO DRIVE AROUND WITH A MELTED DASH BOARD, WHICH BY THE WAY IS A STICKY MESS. NOW, AS IF TO ADD INSULT TO INJURY, I HAVE RECEIVED A NOTICE THAT MY PASSENGER AIR BAG INFLATOR NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. YET AGAIN, THE PART IS UNAVAILABLE AND I WILL SOMEDAY RECEIVE NOTIFICATION WHEN THE PART IS AVAILABLE. EVEN MORE OUTRAGEOUS IS THAT THE LETTER SAYS, "UNTIL THIS REPAIR IS PERFORMED, DO NOT ALLOW PASSENGERS TO RIDE IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. IT HAS BEEN MONTHS AND STILL NO LETTER CONCERNING THE PART BEING CORRECTED.

THE DASH OF MY CAR IS MELTING - A KNOWN PROBLEM IN THE MAZDA 2011, AS WELL AS OTHER MAKES AND MODELS, THAT IS EXACERBATED BY THE HEAT. I LEAVE IN SOUTH CENTRAL TEXAS, WHERE WE SEE A LOT OF HEAT. I CALLED OUR MAZDA DEALERSHIP TO ASK WHAT COULD BE DONE ABOUT IT. THEY SAID TO JUST WAIT UNTIL MAZDA ISSUES A RECALL. IN ADDITION, THEY SAID THEY HAVE HAD THESE PARTS ON ORDER SINCE DECEMBER AND STILL HAVEN'T GOTTEN THEM IN. A RECALL NEEDS TO BE ISSUED AND REPAIRS NEED TO BE MADE. THE DASH BECOMES STICKY AND SHINY, WHICH IN TURN REFLECTS LIGHT UP ON TO THE WINDSHIELD. VISIBILITY IS THEN CUT DRASTICALLY TRYING TO SEE THROUGH THE REFLECTION FROM THE DASH.

TAKATA RECALL - 2011 MAZDA 6 I WAS THE PASSENGER IN A COLLISION IN NOVEMBER 2015 WHERE THE 2011 MAZDA 6 WAS T-BONED ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE BY ANOTHER VEHICLE (FORD FUSION), WHICH MADE THE MAZDA 6 SPIN SEVERAL TIMES, HOP A CURB, AND DEPLOY THE AIRBAGS. AS THE PASSENGER (FRONT SEAT) I SUFFERED INJURIES CAUSED BY THE TAKATA AIRBAGS AND REQUIRED GOING TO THE HOSPITAL FOLLOWING THE COLLISION. INJURIES INCLUDED AT LEAST THREE FRACTURED/BROKEN RIBS AND MAJOR BRUISING ON MY RIGHT KNEE. INJURIES TOOK OVER 6 MONTHS TO HEAL, TAKING HEAVY DOSES OF PAIN KILLERS JUST TO MANAGE THE PAIN. LINGERING EFFECTS FROM THIS COLLISION CAN STILL BE FELT 7 MONTHS LATER. THE DRIVER DID NOT SUSTAIN MAJOR INJURIES ASIDE FROM SCRAPES AND A FEW BRUISES. POLICE REPORTS DETERMINED THAT THE DRIVER OF THE FORD FUSION WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COLLISION AND WAS CHARGED WITH CARELESS/RECKLESS DRIVING. THAT DRIVER FAILED TO STOP/YIELD IN THEIR TURNING LANE BEFORE DRIVING STRAIGHT INTO THE MAZDA 6. THE MAZDA 6 WAS DECLARED TOTALED BY INSURANCE. THE MAZDA 6 WAS ADDED TO THE TAKATA AIRBAG RECALL IN MAY 2016, APPROXIMATELY 6 MONTHS AFTER THE ACCIDENT HAD OCCURRED.

I AM HAVING VARIOUS ISSUES WITH MY MAZDA 6. FIRST, I HAVE HAD THE CAR 4 YEARS AND HAVE REPLACED THE HEADLIGHTS 4 TIMES. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER IT WAS NORMAL. MY MAJOR ISSUE IS THE AIR BAG LIGHT. HAD A PROBLEM BACK IN JULY WITH THE LIGHT FLASHING. DEALER DETERMINED IT WAS THE PAD SENSOR AND I HAD IT REPLACED. NOW THE AIR BAG LIGHT IS FLASHING AGAIN AND DEALER NOW THINKS IT IS THE SRS CONTROL MODULE. THE PAD SENSOR WAS $200.00 AND THIS SENSOR IS OVER $500.00. I AM NOT SURE WHY AIR BAG COMPONENTS WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED AFTER 4 YEARS. THEY ARE NOT A WEAR ITEM. THE CAR HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT.

SINCE I REALIZED THIS, THE AREA THAT IS SOFT, STICKY/MELTING IS PROGRESSING FARTHER DOWN THE DASH TOWARD THE GLOVE BOX. MY CAR HAS 46,000 MILES AND IS OUT OF WARRANTY WITH MAZDA. ADDITIONALLY I HAD A HEADLIGHT ON THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE OUT; AFTER RESEARCHING ON YOUTUBE, I FOUND OUT THAT I CAN BANG THE CLEAR HEADLIGHT SHIELD WITH MY HAND AND THE LIGHT TURNS BACK ON. THESE ARE THE TWO ISSUES I AM ALERTING ABOUT AS THERE ARE NUMEROUS ACCOUNTS OF CORROBORATION ON THE WEB AND YOUTUBE FROM MAZDA OWNERS ABOUT BOTH THESE SAME PROBLEMS.

WE HAVE REPLACED PASSENGER SIDE LOW BEAM AND DRIVER SIDE LOWBEAM LIGHTS SINCE MARCH 2015. AFTER READING COUNTLESS REVIEWS OVER LAST COUPLE OF MONTHS, MANY MANY PEOPLE HAVE REPLACED MORE OFTEN THAN THIS. THERE IS AN OBVIOUS DESIGN FLAW BECAUSE A SLIGHT RAP ON AFFECTED HEADLIGHT WILL MAKE IT TEMPORARILY WORK. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL BY MAZDA TO FIX THIS ISSUE VERY SOON..

THE PASSENGER HEADLIGHT WILL GO OUT ON MY 2011 MAZDA 6 EVEN THOUGH THE BULB AND FUSES ARE STILL INTACT AND WORKING PROPERLY. IT WORKED WHEN I PARKED MY CAR AND TURNED THEM OFF MANUALLY AND THEN DID NOT COME BACK ON THE NEXT TIME I STARTED MY CAR AND TURNED THE LIGHTS ON. IT IS DEFINITELY A FLAW FROM MAZDA AS NUMEROUS PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS SAME PROBLEM. IT IS NOT ONLY THE 2011 MODELS, SEARCH FOR "MAZDA HEADLIGHT ISSUE" AND A VARIETY OF THE MAZDA 6'S ARE HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE. *TR

MY 2011 MAZDA 6 HAD THE EXHAUST SYSTEM BECOME DETACHED TWICE WITHIN 3.5 YEARS. I PURCHASED THE CAR NEW. I HEARD IT THE FIRST TIME AS I WAS DRIVING SLOWLY, LUCKILY. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER AND MAKE IT HOME SO I COULD TIE IT UP WITH ROPE TO GET TO A REPAIR SHOP. THE 2ND TIME I WAS PULLING OUT OF HOME WHEN I HEARD THE SAME SCRAPING NOISE. I LUCKILY COULD PULL BACK HOME TO TIE IT UP AND TO GET TO A REPAIR SHOP. WHEN I WAS AT THE REPAIR SHOW LAST TIME, THE MECHANIC SAID THAT THIS IS A RECURRING PROBLEM WITH MAZDA 6 BOLTS ROTTING OUT. I AM JUST GLAD I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND HIGHER SPEEDS WHEN THIS HAPPENED. IT COULD HAVE CAUSED A FIRE. *TR

I WAS DRIVING IN THE RAIN, THE ROAD WAS WET AND AS I ATTEMPTED TO STOP THE BRAKES WERE LOCKED. THE BRAKE PEDAL WOULD NOT DEPRESS WHILE TRYING TO STOP IN THE RAIN. AS I SWERVED TO AVOID A FATALITY I CONTINUED TO TAP ON THE BRAKE BEFORE THE BRAKE WOULD UNLOCK. THIS IS THE THIRD INCIDENT THAT I HAVE ENCOUNTERED SINCE I PURCHASED THIS CAR IN 2011. I HAVE TAKEN THIS VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND EACH TIME I HAVE PAID FOR BRAKE ISSUES, ROTORS BEING WARPED, BRAKES SCRUBBING TOGETHER NOT HOLDING. I HAVE ATTEMPTED TO GET A RESOLUTION BUT NOONE HAS ASSISTED WITH THIS ISSUE. *TR

I WAS PULLED OVER MY LOCAL POLICE FOR NO HEAD LAMP. THEY LET ME OFF WITH A WARNING. I SEARCHED THE INTERNET THE NEXT DAY AND FOUND THAT THIS PROBLEM IS A KNOWN DEFECT BY MAZDA AND THEY ARE DOING NOTHING ABOUT IT. I FOUND OVER 4 DOZEN TESTIMONIALS FROM CAR OWNERS DESCRIBING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM ON THE EXACT SAME MODEL. THEY WERE TOLD BY MAZDA NORTH AMERICA TO "RAP ON THE PLASTIC HEADLAMP COVER" AND THAT WOULD TURN ON THE LAMP....WHICH IT DOES. IN MY OPINION, MAZDA IS NEGLIGENT IN CORRECTING A KNOWN DEFECT. *TR

Summary

PARKED VEHICLE ON FRIDAY AND ENGAGED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE ON VEHICLE. WENT TO LEAVE FOR WORK ON MONDAY IN A.M. AND WHEN STARTED TO GIVE VEHICLE GAS, THE VEHICLE WAS HESITANT AND THEN JERKED FORWARD MAKING A LOUD CHUNK NOISE. AS I DROVE DOWN ROAD, APPROXIMATELY 2 DRIVEWAYS, THERE WAS A WOBBLING NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR OF VEHICLE. I IMMEDIATELY STOPPED BECAUSE IT SOUNDED AS IF A WHEEL WAS LOOSE. I DID A WALK AROUND THE VEHICLE AND COULD SEE SOMETHING NOT QUITE RIGHT ON THE RIGHT REAR BRAKE ROTOR (4 WHEEL DISC BRAKES ON VEHICLE). UPON FURTHER INSPECTION, I NOTED THAT THERE WAS A PIECE OF WHAT APPEARED TO BE MY BRAKE PAD MELTED TO THE ROTOR. I DID NOT DRIVE VEHICLE FURTHER BUT CONTACTED LOCAL MAZDA DEALERSHIP. I ARRANGED VEHICLE TOW TO CROSSROADS MAZDA IN PRINCE GEORGE VA. UPON INSPECTION BY THEIR TECHNICIAN, THEY FOUND THAT MY EMERGENCY BRAKE CABLE WAS LOCKED UP AND THIS IS WHAT CAUSED THE PROBLEMS. MY BRAKE PAD ON THE RIGHT REAR ROTOR HAD DISINTEGRATED AND LARGE CHUNKS WERE COMPLETELY MISSING. CROSSROADS ARRANGED WARRANTY REPAIRS TO REPLACE MY REAR BRAKE PADS AND EMERGENCY BRAKE CABLE IN THE VEHICLE AND TO CLEAN THE RIGHT REAR ROTOR. SINCE THESE REPAIRS, THE VEHICLE SEEMS TO BE DRIVING BETTER THAN IT EVER DID. CROSSROADS EMPLOYEES WERE SUPER GREAT TO DEAL WITH AND I FELT TOOK GOOD CARE OF ME. ON SEVERAL TIMES PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT, I HAD COMMENTED ON THE SMELL COMING FROM UNDER MY VEHICLE WHEN DRIVEN FOR SOME TIME. OBVIOUSLY EMERGENCY BRAKE HAD BEEN LOCKED UP FOR SOME TIME. *TR

I HAVE HAD AN ONGOING ISSUE SINCE I PURCHASED MY MAZDA 6 2011, IF I SLOW DOWN OR STOP FOR A TRAFFIC LIGHT AND THEN TRY TO ACCELERATE THE GAS PEDAL IS TO THE FLOOR AND THE CAR DOESN'T MOVE, THEN OUT OF NOWHERE IT WILL ACCELERATE. I WAS TOLD THE VOLTAGE IN THE GAS PEDAL CENSOR AND THE CENSOR IN THE ENGINE WERE NOT THE SAME VOLTAGE, BOTH WERE REPLACED BUT I STILL CONTINUE TO HAVE PROBLEMS AND THE DEALERSHIP CANNOT FIND OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. MY CAR HAS BEEN BACK IN TO MAZDA 3 TIMES BUT NO SOLUTION, AS THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS IN HEAVY TRAFFIC I WISH SOMEONE COULD FIGURE THIS OUT BEFORE I GET INTO A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. *TR

CAR IS NEW, LESS THAN ONE MONTH SINCE PURCHASE. ISSUE HAS OCCURRED WITH EVERY FILL-UP. WHEN FILLING UP WITH GAS, AS SOON AS OR NEAR TANK IS FULL, GAS SPEWS OUT OF TANK. TOOK TO MAZDA DEALER ON 11/19/2011 AND THEY CANNOT FIND WHAT THE CAUSE IS. SEEMS LIKE A HIGHLY DANGEROUS PROBLEM TO HAVE GAS SHOOTING FROM THE TANK. ALSO, IT COULD BE A FAULTY VALVE THAT MAY MALFUNCTION IN THE CASE OF A ROLLOVER, CREATING A HIGHLY COMBUSTIBLE SITUATION. *TR
