The contact initially took the vehicle to an independent mechanic where they referred her to a dealer since the vehicle was under warranty. The contact then drove to a dealer where they diagnosed the vehicle with transmission failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 140,000. The VIN was not available.
The contact owns a 2011 Nissan Altima. The contact stated while her grandmother was driving 70 MPH, the vehicle began to shake forcefully. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The driver was able to drive to an independent mechanic however, the mechanic was unable to diagnose the failure. The contact stated she also experienced the failure on 2013. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing unknown bolts to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired but was pending repairs. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 11V371000 (Suspension) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
My car was all morning in the parking lot of my apartments and it was time to go to work, then i started my car and drive it around 2 minutes of driving it engine light on (always) and the stability light turn on which it never happens. I accelerate because was taking a turn it did not rpm over 2,500 like it need it something so the only way to get up to speed was doing low rpm which can be dangerous when need to turn and cars are coming in front of you and can happen with any notice Nissan need to make it right and fixing their cvt transmission failing so early and deny to fix its problems with its customers.
No incident, but I am prevent one from happening. My C.V.T. Transmission is winning in 1st gear, CVT stands for {continuously variable transmission}. I need to let up on the gas pedal each time it's supposed to shift.. Even if you don't know much about how a transmission works, you have probably heard of the manual and the automatic. The CVT is the newest type of a transmission. It is sometimes referred to as the shiftless transmission and is a type of automatic, a steady RPM constant even if the vehicle is accelerating rapidly in a passing scenario, for example, the CVT knows the optimal engine speed is pretty high (typically around 5,000 RPM or less on the tachometer), so it shifts you up there as soon as you put the gas petal down...In a passing scenario, for example, the CVT knows the optimal engine speed is pretty high (typically around 5,000 or less RPM's on the tachometer), so it shifts you up there as soon as it is ready ! Shifting this car is like its going to exploded !! I had it serviced at Nissan as soon I perchance it.. The cost was $250.00 for the transmission flush with new oil, no change and I am sick of riding like this thinking my investment can be left on a high way ...
I bought this car 2011 Nissan Altima 2.5s Feb -2021 ....Now the transmission I had serviced at Colonial Nissan Altima in Medford Mass. in March 2021..which is a C.V.T. Transmission and 1st gear is acting wrong... Driving it I need to let up on the gas pedal to shift gears, I did call 30 days after my service...They told me to drop it off and leave your car here and we will get to it, we are backed up with C.V.T. Transmissions !!! I NEED DIRECTION TO HANDLE THIS...PLUS A RECALL.. Transverse Link Bolt MAY NOT Have Been Torqued TO THE Proper Specification....AND I did snap a strut 1 month owning this car,, Thank you !
The contact's father owns a 2011 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that while her father was starting the vehicle, the air bag warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and diagnosed that the air bags needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 31,000.
The contact owns a 2011 Nissan Altima. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic to have the brakes serviced and was informed that the rear suspension subframe cross member was fractured. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact called the local dealer and made them aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 170,000.
I was driving in early n all of a sudden car started slowing down n there’s other cars n I have my kids in car was very scary I started praying n calling on Jesus N car slowly started taking off again I just bought used car I’m very worried I hope someone reads this and calls me I never experienced this .
I GET THE P0101 CODE THAT INDICATES A MASS AIR FLOW ISSUE. WHILE DRIVING THE CAR CUTS OFF, STALLS, SPUTTERS. OFTEN THE CAR CAN BE RESTARTED, BUT IT CONTINES TO STUTTER, OR SHUT OFF. THE ISSUE HAS OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING ON NYC STREETS AND ON HIGHWAYS, USUALLY WHILE DRIVING ON STRAIGHT ROADS. IT HAS ALSO OCCURRED WHILE MAKING A TURN. THE MECHANIC CHANGED THE MASS FLOW SENSOR AND THE VEHICLE WAS FINE FOR A FEW MONTHS. THEN THE ISSUE STARTED AGAIN. THIS REPEATEDLY HAPPENS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. CHANGING THE MASS AIR FLOW PART DOES NOT HELP IT. THE ISSUE HAS OCCURRED SINCE 2014, OF COURSE USUALLY IN MAY WHEN IT'S TIME TO GET THE INSPECTION.
CLEAR COAT THEN PAINT COMING OFF. ESPECIALLY ON HOOD, TOP OF CAR, AND TRUNK. I HAVE SEEN SEVERAL OTHER BLACK NISSAN ALTIMA'S DOING THE SAME.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 2 MPH, THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO SWITCH GEARS. THE CONTACT STATED NO WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH NEEDING THE TRANSMISSION TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 154,000.
MY CAR IS HAVING STICKY DASH BOARD AND ITS MELTING. IT IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE BECAUSE OF GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD AND PRONE TO ACCIDENTS IN A DAY TIME.
MY VEHICLE HAS A VERY SHINY, STICKY AND MELTING DASHBOARD. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR APPROXIMATELY 3 YEARS AND HAS BEEN GETTING PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. I CONTACTED NISSAN AND THEY SAID IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY (3 YEARS, 36000 MILES) AND I'M ON MY OWN AND THEY CANNOT HELP ME. THIS IS A BIG SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE THE SHINE PRODUCES A GLARE ALL OVER MY WINDSHIELD AND MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO SEE DRIVING IN THE SUNLIGHT. PLEASE HELP!!
TRANSMISSION KEEPS GOING BAD
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO SHAKE. THE CONTACT COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROADWAY AND TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESTART. THERE WAS NO WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE SHE HAD JUST PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 87,918.
THE DASHBOARD FOR MY 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA IS EXTREMELY STICKY AND MELTING. IT CREATE A MAJOR GLARE AND COVERS A MAJOR PORTION ON MY WINDSHIELD. THIS SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCES MY ABILITY TO SEE THE ROAD, PEDESTRIAN OR CYCLISTS. ITS EVEN WORSE WHEN I HAVE TO TAKE TURNS. I STARTED BEGINNING OF LAST YEAR BUT WASN'T SUCH A BIG ISSUE. BUT, IT PROGRESSED WITH TIME AND HAVE BECOME A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN FOR ME. I AM BIT SCARED TO DRIVE THIS CAR.
I'VE NOTICED THAT THE HOOD OF MY CAR IS MOVING A LOT ESPECIALLY WHEN I AM ON THE HIGHWAY. IT SEEMS AS IF IT IS GOING TO FLIP UP OR COME OFF THE HINGES.
OUR 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA HAS A BLACK DASH BOARD THAT STARTED FEELING STICKY. WE HAVE NOTICED THAT THE DASH BOARD IS MELTING. WE ALSO CONFIRMED THIS WITH A LOCAL MECHANIC. WE HAVE SEEN OLDER MODEL'S HAVE HAD THIS SAME ISSUE. IT HAS MELTED TO THE POINT THAT YOU CAN'T TOUCH THE DASH MUCH LESS LAY ANYTHING ON THE DASH BOARD.
I WENT TO GO AND HAVE MY VEHICLE INSPECTED TODAY APPROXIMATELY AT 850 AM.. THE LOCATION KA-PA TIRE &AUTO SERVICE 4011 3RD ST. SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA 94124.. SO ANY WAY AFTER THE SHOP FINISHED WIT MY VEHICLE THERE WAS SOME TYPE OF CODE THAT CASE UP. SO I ASKED THE MECHANIC WHAT'S WAS THE ISSUE HE SAID HE COULDN'T EXPLAIN.. SO HE ADVISED ME TO CONTACT YOU GUYS ABOUT THE SITUATION.. SO I'M LOOKING FOR ADVICE ON HOW DO I GO ABOUT THE RECALL?
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE HER GRANDSON WAS DRIVING 65 MPH, HE LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND CRASHED INTO A WALL. FIRST THE REAR END MADE CONTACT AND THEN THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE AND FRONT PASSENGER SIDE BANGED INTO THE WALL. THE CONTACT STATED BOTH FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT STATED THE DRIVER SUSTAINED INTERNAL BLEEDING, PART OF HIS INTESTINE REMOVED, CHIPPED BONE ON HIS RIGHT KNEE. AND MULTIPLE GLASS FRACTURE REMOVED FROM HIS BODY AND THE FRONT PASSENGER SUSTAINED A SLIGHT CONCUSSION AND RIGHT ANKLE WAS FRACTURE NEEDING SURGERY. THE VEHICLE WAS DEEMED TOTALED BY THE INSURANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN IMPOUND LOT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED AS OF YET. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF A FAILURE CAUSE. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT ASSOCIATED THE FAILURE WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 11V371000 (SUSPENSION), HOWEVER THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. *DT*JB*DT*JB *LN*JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA. CONSUMER STATED ONLY AFTER THE MECHANIC WORKED ON THE CAR THAT THE RATTLING NOISE AND VIBRATION OCCURRED. AN UNKNOWN WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SHELBY NISSAN LOCATED AT 631 S POST RD, SHELBY, NC 28152, WHERE IT WAS STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT SUBJECTED TO A RECALL. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND CONFIRMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT SUBJECTED TO A RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 125,000. *BF*JB
WHILE IN MOTION EXITING A HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MILES PER HOUR, THE ENTIRE CAR SHOOK, AND STARTED TO LOCK UP THE WHEELS UNTIL THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION RELEASED AND HAD NO FURTHER RESPONSE. I HAD TO COAST OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THE CAR WAS DISABLED AS I HAD NO FORWARD OR REVERSE GEARS DESPITE THE ENGINE RUNNING PERFECTLY. CAR WAS FREE WHEELING AS IT WOULD NOT REMAIN STATIONARY ON AN INCLINE ROAD (HAD TO USE EMERGENCY BREAK TO RESTRAIN THE CAR AS WHEELS WERE FREE WHEELING IN PARK. IT WAS VERY SCARY AND HAD OTHER CARS BEEN AROUND OR NEXT TO ME I MAY NOT HAVE BEEN SO LUCKY. IT WAS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO CONTROL THE CAR WHILE THE SHAKING WAS OCCURRING UNTIL THE TRANSMISSION RELEASED AND STEERING WAS REGAINED WHILE COASTING.
AT 97,000 MILES THE NISSAN DEALER RECOMMENDED A TRANSMISSION OIL FLUSH. AFTER THE FLUSH THE TRANSMISSION BEGAN TO SLIP. I CHECK ON LINE AN IT IS A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE NISSAN CVT (TRANSMISSION). THE DEALER TOLD US THEY WILL CHECK THE VEHICLE, BUT IT WASN'T UNDER WARRANTY, SO WE MUST PAY FOR REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICE ON 24 FEB 2020, BEGINS SLIPPING NOTICEABLE TWO WEEKS LATER. THE LACK OF POWER CAN CAUSE AN ACCIDENT, WHILE PULLING FROM INTERSECTIONS, OR DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY.
NISSAN SAYS MY CVT TRANSMISSION ISNT COVERED BY THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. MY CAR HAS ONLY 72,000 MILES AND IS STARTING TO SHOW PROBLEMS. I FEEL IF IT DOESN'T BREAK NOW IT WILL SOON AND FEEL THEY SHOULD HONOR THE WARRANTY THAT A LAW SUIT WAS FILED. THE RPMS ARENT CLIMBING WHEN I ACCELERATE AND THERE IS A NOISE WHEN ITS BETWEEN 30 AND 40 MILES AN HR.
I HAVE REPLACED THE MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR AND THE CODE KEEPS COMING ON. IT ONLY STAYED OFF FOR A MONTH. IT CAUSES THE CAR TO IDLE ROUGH. I AM NOT SURE IF THE OTHER PROBLEMS THAT ARE HAPPENING ARE RELATED BUT THE ONLY LIGHT THAT COMES ON IS THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT AND THE CODE SHOWS P0101.
I PURCHASED THIS CAR JUST FIVE YEARS AGO FROM A NISSAN DEALERSHIP IN CA. I DON'T DRIVE IT MUCH BECAUSE I USE A WORK VEHICLE DURING THE WEEK. OVER THE LAST YEAR, I'VE HAD PROBLEMS WITH RATTLING, TRANSMISSION DELAYS AND SUDDEN SURGES IN POWER. A FEW WEEKS AGO, THE CAR LOST ITS ABILITY TO ACCELERATE WHILE HEADING OVER THE GRAPEVINE TO SOCAL. THE CAR SUDDENLY SLOWED TO 35 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY! I HAD TO QUICKLY SWITCH LANES IN ORDER TO AVOID A COLLISION. ONCE IN THE SLOW LANE, THE CAR HELD UP TRAFFIC AND NUMEROUS ANGRY DRIVERS SPED AROUND ME. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE!!! THE CAR ONLY HAS 96,000 MILES ON IT. THIS SHOULDN'T HAPPEN! TODAY, I TOOK THE CAR TO MY LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIP FOR A 90K SERVICE. AN ADVISOR CALLED ME SEVERAL HOURS LATER TO INFORM ME I NEED TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION AT THE COST OF MORE THAN $3,700. HE ALSO SAID THE CAR HAS SEVERAL HOSE LEAKS, ETC. THESE ARE SUSPICIOUSLY SIMILAR PROBLEMS OTHER DRIVERS REPORTED HAVING WITH THEIR 2013-2016 ALTIMAS AS WELL AS 2006-2010 ALTIMAS. WHY WAS THE 2011 LEFT OUT OF THE WARRANTY EXTENSION AND CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT? I COULD HAVE BEEN STRUCK BY ANOTHER CAR WHEN MY ALTIMA SUDDENLY LOST POWER ON THE HIGHWAY! IT COULD HAVE IMPACTED THE LIVES OF OTHER DRIVERS AROUND ME! NISSAN NEEDS TO FIX ITS TRANSMISSION ISSUES. IT'S BECOMING A SAFETY ISSUE! THE COMPANY ALSO NEEDS TO TAKE CARE OF IT'S CUSTOMERS - IF IT DOESN'T WANT TO LOSE THEM FOREVER! I CAN NOT BELIEVE MY CAR NEEDS A NEW TRANSMISSION WHEN IT HAS UNDER 96,000 MILES! I HAD A TOYOTA CAMRY LAST TIL 365,000 MILES! I WOULD DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMEND BUYING A NISSAN!!! YOU JUST MAY PUT LIVES AT RISK!
DASHBOARD IS MELTING, MY HOOD IS PEELING LIKE CRAZY.... SPOKE TO A BODY SHOP OWNER AND HE STATED THAT THIS IS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT.... I'M NOTICING CHIPS IN THE PAINT EVERY... POOR JOB ON 2011 ALTIMA'S
MY CAR STARTED WITH A BAD JERKING MOTION WHEN DRIVING IT. THEN IT STARTED NOT WANTING TO PICK UP SPEED, BUT THE RPM WOULD GO UP. THE FIRST TIME IT MALFUNCTIONED ON ME I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. I DID NOT GET INJURED BECAUSE THE CARS BEHIND ME STOPPED IN TIME.
ENGINE LIGHT ON CAR SHAKES A LOT OR ENGINE SHAKES SOMETIMES CAR DOESENT START PROBLEM HEPENS STATIONARY IN MOTION ON THE CITY HIGHWAY AND TURNING
THIS SEEM LIKE A BIG ISSUE WITH NISSAN VEHICLES WITH THE CVT TRANSMISSION. WHEN OUR CAR GOT TO 90,000 MILES THE TRANSMISSION STARTER OVERHEAT CAUSING THE CAR TO LOSE SPEED WHILE I'M ON THE HIGHWAY NOT GOOD WHEN YOU HAVE YOUR WIFE AND DAUGHTER IN THE CAR
THE TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPING AND MAKING A WHINING NOISE AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THE CAR HAS UNDER 110K MILES ON IT AND IT SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THE EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT NISSAN HAS OFFERED TO THE 2010 ALTIMAS. THE PROBLEM WAS NOT FIXED IN 2011 AND AS A RESULT, MY CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE JERKED, LUNGED, AND LOST POWER WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. CARRIAGE NISSAN (2400 BROWNS BRIDGE RD, GAINESVILLE, GA 30504, (678) 944-8663) WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 80,000.
SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER AFTER DRIVING AN HOUR AND A HALF. TRANSMISSION GOES IN TO FAIL/SAFE MODE AND LEAVES ME ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. DEALER SOLD IT TO ME WITH THIS SAFETY ISSUE.
THE DASHBOARD TO MY VEHICLE HAS GOTTEN STICKY. ANYTHING THAT TOUCHES IT GETS STUCK TO IT (BUGS, PAPER, ETC.) EVEN THE WINDSHIELD COVER TO PROTECT IT FROM THE SUN GETS STUCK TO IT. IT IS DIFFICULT TO SEE WHEN DRIVING DUE TO THE GLARE/REFLECTION FROM,THE DASHBOARD. ALSO, PIECES ON THE FRONT OF THE DASHBOARD ARE COMING OFF WHEN I CLEAN IT. I AM ATTACHING PICTURES OF MY VEHICLES DASHBOARD.
CAR SHAKING WHEN PARKED OR STOP A A STOPLIGHT AND RATTLING WHEN DRIVING
THE DASH ON MY 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA IS STARTING TO MELT AND GET VERY STICKY. A BAD GLARE IS STARTING TO APPEAR IN MY WINDSHIELD MAKING IT HARD TO SEE WHILE DRIVING. I CANNOT CLEAN THE DASH BECAUSE ANYTHING IT TOUCHES STICKS TO THE DASH. I CONTACTED NISSAN HEADQUARTERS AND THEY CANNOT HELP ME REPLACE IT UNLESS I PAY FOR THE DASH. THIS IS NOT SAFE!
TRANSMISSION FAIL AT 115000 MILES CAR WONT ACCELERATE
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DASHBOARD WAS MELTING AND EXTREMELY STICKY. THE FAILURE CREATED A CHEMICAL ODOR INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THERE WAS A GLARE FROM THE DASHBOARD WHILE DRIVING, WHICH MADE IT DIFFICULT TO SEE VEHICLES OR EVEN PEDESTRIANS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO PERFORMANCE NISSAN (LOCATED AT 1345 FEDERAL HWY, POMPANO BEACH, FL 33062, (954) 446-8772) TO BE INSPECTED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT REPLACING THE DASHBOARD WOULD COST APPROXIMATELY $3,000. ADDITIONALLY, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WOULD BE OFFERED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000. PIIR = Y.
MY 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA HAS A MELTED DASHBOARD AND THE CLEAR COAT IS COMING OFF. MOST IMPORTANTLY, THERE IS A TERRIBLE GLARE FROM THE DAMAGED DASHBOARD AND IT IS A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD. SEE THE ATTACHED PICTURES. I CONTACTED NISSAN NAT'L AND THEY SAID IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY, BUT THEY WOULD HELP ME. THEY HAD ME GET DIAGNOSIS ON THE DASH AND CLEAR COAT, THEN TOLD ME NO, IT'S OUT OF WARRANTY!!? I UNDERSTAND A LOT OF OTHER NISSAN OWNERS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS. NISSAN HAS ALREADY HAD A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT FOR THESE TWO ISSUES FOR MODELS UP TO 2009, SO THEY KNEW THE DASH AND CLEAR COAT WERE BAD, YET THEY SOLD NEW MODELS ANYWAY!
THE DASH IN MY CAR IS MELTING AND CAUSING A FILM FROM THE CHEMICALS TO FORM ON THE WINDSHIELD. ALSO CAUSES A GLARE WHEN DRIVING INTO THE SUN. THE DASH IS ALSO GOT A SOLID CRACK AROUND THE CLUSTER AREA
I BOUGHT A 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA AND AT 127,000 MILES THE TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPING AND WHEN IT WARMS UP THE CAR WILL NOT GO OVER 50 MPH. TRANSMISSION WILL NOT SHIFT. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL FOR THESE TRANSMISSION FROM EVERYTHING I'M FINDING OUT ABOUT THEM NOW. AT THIS POINT WITH WHAT THIS IS COSTING I WON'T BY ANOTHER NISSAN WHEN THEY DON'T BELIEVE THERE'S AN ISSUE WITH THESE TRANSMISSION.
TRANSMISSION JERKING WHILE IN MOTION OR IDLE. TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT COMES ON. I'VE TAKEN IT TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND THEY COULDN'T TELL ME WHAT WAS WRONG WITH IT BESIDES THAT I NEEDED TO HAVE MY MODULE (MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR) REPROGRAMMED AND THAT SHOULD TAKE CARE OF IT. WELL THAT DID NOT WORK AND STILL HAVE ISSUES SO RIGHT NOW I'M DRIVING ON A WING AND A PRAYER
FUELING THE VEHICLE HAS HAD INTERMITTENT ISSUES. SOMETIMES THE PUMP WOULD SHUT OFF PRIOR TO BEING FULL AND I WOULD HAVE TO MANUALLY HOLD IT TO GET TANK FULL. TODAY I ATTEMPTED TO FILL THE TANK AND IT WOULD ONLY STAY ON FOR A FEW SECOND AND THEN THE NOZZLE WOULD COME OUT IF THE TANK AND SPRAY GAS ALL OVER. ATTEMPTED TO FILL SEVERAL TIMES WITH THE SAME OUTCOME. I HAD THE GAS STATION MANAGER COME OUT BECAUSE I ASSUMED IT WAS THEIR PUMP THAT WAS THE ISSUE. I NOW ONLY HAVE ENOUGH GAS TO GO 57 MILES.
CVT TRANSMISSION PROBLEM IN MOTION
THE VEHICLE WAS HAVING A HARD TIME GETTING PAST 2ND GEAR BEING TOLD IT WAS AN ELECTRICAL MISFIRE AND CAUSING THE CAR TO JERK UNTIL IT WAS ABLE TO HIT 2ND. THAT WAS REPAIRED BY OUR LOCAL AUTO REPAIR SHOP. THE OTHER ISSUE IS THE DASHBOARD. THE DASHBOARD IS LITERALLY MELTING AWAY AND HAS BECOME SLIMY AND STICKY. IT IS WORKING IT'S WAY DOWN TO THE STEERING WHEEL AREA AND AIR VENTS. I'M SURE THAT IS SOME SORT OF HAZARD.
DASH HAS MELTED TO THE POINT WHERE THE GLARE MAKES DRIVING CHALLENGING.
POSSIBLE CVT TRANSMISSION OVER-HEATING/FAIL-SAFE ISSUE? I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY AFTER DRIVING FOR 2 HOURS AND MY ENGINE STARTED MAKING A 'WHIRRING' NOISE AND I HAD TROUBLE ACCELERATING. THE SPEED LIMIT WAS 70 BUT AS MUCH AS I TRIED TO ACCELERATE, IT WOULD BARELY GET PASSED 50MPH. THIS ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT WITH A SEMI-TRUCK AS WE APPROACHED A HILL BECAUSE I COULD BARELY GET UP IT. I HAD TO PULL OFF THE HIGHWAY AND LET THE CAR REST FOR A WHILE. I HAD TO DRIVE ANOTHER 2 HOURS TO GET HOME AND AFTER ANOTHER HOUR, IT DID THE SAME THING. SOON AFTER, I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THE ONLY THING THEY COULD SUGGEST WAS TO GIVE ME A NEW TRANSMISSION! I GOT A SECOND OPINION FROM A TRANSMISSION REPAIR SHOP AND THEY SAID THAT POSSIBLY ADDING A SECONDARY COOLING SYSTEM WOULD HELP BUT THEY COULDN'T GUARANTEE THAT WOULD FIX THE ISSUE. FROM MY RESEARCH, IT SEEMS THAT A REASON FOR THIS HAPPENING IS THAT THE CVT TRANSMISSION PRODUCES TOO MUCH HEAT FOR THE COOLING SYSTEM TO HANDLE AND EVENTUALLY GOES INTO A FAIL-SAFE MODE THAT CAPS THE ACCELERATION POWER OF THE CAR, IN ORDER TO PROTECT THE TRANSMISSION FROM BEING DAMAGED. I COULD UNDERSTAND THE NEED FOR THE FAIL-SAFE TO KICK IN IN EXTREME CIRCUMSTANCES BUT NOT AFTER DRIVING FOR 2 HOURS AT REGULAR HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THIS IS NOT NORMAL AND EXTREMELY AGGRAVATING. I HAVE READ THAT THIS IS A COMMON SAFETY ISSUE WHICH AFFECTS BOTH NEW AND OLDER CARS AND NISSAN CHOOSES TO DO NOTHING ABOUT IT. I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO DRIVE MY CAR MORE THAN AN HOUR ON THE HIGHWAY BECAUSE IT STARTS TO MAKE THAT 'WHIRRING' NOISE AND I KNOW IT WON'T BE LONG BEFORE THE FAIL-SAFE KICKS IN. THIS HAS BEEN BEYOND DISAPPOINTING AND EVEN MORE SO THAT NISSAN WON'T TAKE RESPONSIBILITY TO IMPROVE THEIR CVT ISSUES AND PROVIDE THE NECESSARY REPAIRS. I OWN MY CAR OUTRIGHT BUT THE WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED. NO OPTION FOR THAT ROUTE. VERY INCONVENIENT.
CAT TRANSMISSION FAILURE AT 129K MILES. WINDING NOISE AND SLIPPING. CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AT ANY GIVEN TIME. THIS IS A CVT TRANSMISSION THAT NISSAN HAS AN ISSUE WITH AND REFUSES TO OWN UP TO IT. NOT A SAFE VEHICLE TO BE DRIVING IN CITY OR OPEN HIGHWAYS. NISSAN WANT ME TO PAY 3-4 GRAND TO FIX. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE WAKE THESE PEOPLE UP
DEFECT IN IN THE ECM. WENT TO WORK CAR STARTED FINE AND WHEN I WENT OUT FOR LUNCH PUSH THE START BUTTON ALL LIGHTS CAME IN IN THE DASH BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT TURN OVER THE ENGINE. THIS HAPPENED ON FRANKFORD AVE, PHILADELPHIA, PA 19135 ON 5/1/2019.
THE DASHBOARD IS MELTING, CAUSING A GLARE. ALSO, PAINT IS PEELING ON THE HOOD AND ROOF.
WE MOVED FROM ILLINOIS TO FLORIDA IN 2014, AFTER LIVING IN FLORIDA FOR 2 YEARS THE DASH BOARD IN THE NISSAN BECAME SHINY AND STICKY, LIKE IT IS MELTING. AFTER CONTACTING NISSAN ABOUT THE PROBLEM, THEY MENTIONED THAT THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THERE IS NO RECALL ON THE DASH BOARD. WE FEEL THIS SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO FOR A RECALL DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE SHINY REFLECTION OF THE MELTED DASHBOARD IS CAUSING POOR VISIBILITY THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD DUE TO THE REFLECTION FROM THE SUN. THIS FEELS LIKE A BIG SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE THIS REFLECTION CAUSES LARGE AREAS OF BLIND SPOTS ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD. NISSAN SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY LIKE MAZDA, TOYOTA, AND LEXUS HAVE AND REPLACE THE DASHBOARD UNDER RECALL.
CVT TRANSMISSION FAILED. DOESN'T GO FORWARD OR REVERSE.
THE DASHBOURD HAS BEEN MELTING AND HAS BECOME STICKY FOR THE PAST 2 YEARS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL, DECELERATE, AND POWER DOWN WITHOUT WARNING. IN ADDITION, THE TRANSMISSION WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURES OCCURRED OFTEN. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT A NEW TRANSMISSION WAS NEEDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 166,782.
OUR 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA JUST WENT OVER 80,000 MILES AND THE TRANSMISSION STOPPED WORKING. MY SON WAS DRIVING ALONG SOME BACK ROADS AT A LOW RATE OF SPEED AND ALL OF A SUDDEN IT GAVE OUT, THE ENGINE WIL LREV BUT NO POWER. HAD IT TOWED TO A TRANSMISSION REPAIR SHOP WHO DOES A LOT OF WORK ON THESE CVT TRANSMISSIONS AND HE SAID IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. QUOTED ME $3500 FOR A BRAND NEW NISSAN FACTORY TRANSMISSION AND SAID HE RECOMMENDED GETTING THE NEW ONE RATHER THAN TRYING TO FIX THE OLD ONE BECAUSE HE HAS TON A LOT OF WORK ON THESE TRANSMISSIONS. I DO NO UNDERSTAND WHY NISSAN STOPPED THEIR EXTENDED WARRANTY COVERAGE ON THE CVT TRANSMISSION AT THE 2010 MODEL YEAR.
FAILING TO ACCELERATE, SLIPPING, JERKING, STALLING
THE DASHBOARD IS MELTING AND CRACKING.
I HAVE A 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA. CAR WAS "ACTING UP" AND SO I TOOK IT TO A FIRESTONE SERVICE CENTER. THEY SAID IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION AND I SHOULD TAKE IT TO A NISSAN DEALER. SO, I TOOK IT TO THE NISSAN DEALER THAT I PURCHASED THE CAR FROM AND THEY TOLD ME I NEEDED A SOFTWARE UPDATE. WHICH THEY DID FOR $153. TWO WEEKS LATER WHILE DRIVING FROM OHIO TO TENNESSEE, THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT AND I HAD IT TOWED. THE COST FOR REPAIR WILL BE $4800.00
THE DASHBOARD IS CRACKED, THE LIGHTS OF THE PANEL LOWER THE DENSITY. NOW STARTS THE LIGHT OF THE AIR BAG OF THE PASSENGER, RIGHT SIDE.
WHEN IT IS HOT OUTSIDE AND THE CAR HAS BEEN DRIVEN FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME THE CVT TRANSMISSION WILL MAKE A WHINING NOISE. I NOTICED IT WHEN I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY GOING ABOUT 70 MPH. BECAUSE OF THIS STRANGE NOISE, I EXITED. WHEN I WAS GOING 30 MPH+ AND ACCELERATING THE WHINING CONTINUED TO HAPPEN. I AM NOT SURE WHAT WOULD CAUSE THIS, BUT IT SOUNDS LIKE A BELT INSIDE THE TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPING. IT NOW STUTTERS AT TIMES WHEN GOING ABOUT 10 MPH. WHEN "SHIFTING" DOWN FROM 20 MPH IT WILL JERK.
TAKATA RECALL , MY 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA 2.5S STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE STEERING, AND IT MAKES A WEIRD NOISE WHEN I START UP THE CAR
OVER THE PAST COUPLE OF MONTHS THE STEERING IN MY CAR HAS GOTTEN TOUGH. I THOUGHT IT MAY HAVE BEEN THE POWER STEERING PUMP. I TOOK IT TO THE SHOP AND THEY COULDN'T FIND THE PROBLEM, BEING THAT THE POWER STEERING PUMP WAS WORKING PROPERLY AND THE FLUID LEVEL WAS GOOD. YESTERDAY I WAS AT THE GAS STATION GETTING FUEL. AS I WAS DRIVING AWAY, THERE WAS A SOUND SIMILAR TO A BALLOON POPPING AND THE STEERING JERKED TO THE RIGHT, ALMOST HITTING ANOTHER VEHICLE, AND THE STEERING IS SO TOUGH NOW THAT IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. I LOOKED UP THE PROBLEM ONLINE AND LOTS OF PEOPLE WITH THE SAME VEHICLE HAVE THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM. AND THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THAT REASON. MY VIN DOESN'T SHOW A RECALL, BUT IT NEEDS TO.
THE STABILITY CONTROLS COME ON AND THEN THEY DON'T GO AWAY AND THE CAR DON'T RUN ANYMORE, IT TURNS ON AND CAR IS USELESS. THE STABILITY CONTROLS TURN ON AND DOESN'T TURN OFF AGAIN, I HAVE TO SHUT OFF THE ENTIRE CAR FOR MORE THAN 3 MINUTES AND WHEN I START IT BACK ON IT TURNS OFF. NOT EVEN THE SWITCH THAT SAY TURN OFF DOESN'T WORK. SUDDENLY IT TURNS ON AGAIN AND SAME CYCLE BACK AGAIN AND THE CAR JUST DOESN'T RUN.
VEHICLE NEEDED FRONT BEARINGS AT 62K AND REAR BEARINGS AT 156K. DID THEY GET THESE BEARINGS FROM CHINA? NEVER HAVE PUT BEARINGS ON ANY OTHER VEHICLE I HAVE OWNED.
CAR STALLS OR CUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT HEARD AN ABNORMAL NOISE WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE NOISE WAS MOST PREVALENT DURING INCLEMENT WEATHER CONDITIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE TRANSMISSION JUST WENT OUT AT 100,000 MILES. I'M TOLD THE TRANSMISSION IS A CVT TRANSMISSION AND THIS IS PRETTY MUCH NORMAL. I'M LOOKING AT A $4000 COST JUST TO PUT ANOTHER CVT TRANSMISSION INTO IT
I GOT TWO LIGHTS ONE FOR AIR FROM TIRES AND THE OTHER ONE FOR CHECK ENGINE SOON. I FIX THE PROBLEM BUT THE LIGHTS STILL ON
MERGING INTO TRAFFIC AFTER STOPPING AT A STOP SIGN THE GAS PEDAL BECAME UNRESPONSIVE. WAS ABLE TO PULL TO SIDE AND AVOID COLLISION AND GAS PEDAL BEGAN WORKING AFTER PUMPING AND A FEW MOMENTS. HAD THREE KIDS IN THE CAR AND ONLY DUMB LUCK PREVENTED ACCIDENT. BROUGHT TO DEALER THE FOLLOWING DAY AND IT WAS A TRANSMISSION ISSUE
THE 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA HAS A CVT TRANSMISSION AND THIS CONTINUES TO GO OUT AND WILL EVERY 12,000 MILES. NO SERVICE PROVIDER WANTS TO FIX THIS ISSUE BECAUSE OF THE UNRELIABLE PART AND NOT ONLY IS THIS IS A COSTLY FIX BUT IT ONLY GUARANTEE THE MOST A YEAR OR LESS (CLOSE TO $3000.00 TO FIX). I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW THE OTHER MODELS WITH NISSAN WITH THIS TYPE OF TRANSMISSION THE WARRANTY WAS EXTENDED. I BELIEVE ANY VEHICLE WITH A CVT TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AND REPLACED.
NISSAN CVT (TRANSMISSION). THE VEHICLE WHEN IN MOTION SEEMS TO BE STUCK " IN GEAR" WHEN PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR IT FEELS RESTRAINED AND LABORED WITH A NOISY ALMOST WHINING SOUND. THERE SEEMS TO BE NO "UP-SHIFT" ALTHOUGH THE CVTS ARE SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED TO NOT MAKE THE BUMPING TRANSITIONS, IT SEEMS TO BE RESTRAINING THE CAR FROM PICKING UP SPEED WITH LABORING WHINE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE DRIVING 80-85 MPH, THE VEHICLE WENT INTO SAFETY MODE AND DECELERATED TO 70 MPH. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FLAGSTAFF NISSAN (4960 E MARKETPLACE DR, FLAGSTAFF, AZ 86004, (928) 522-6386) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE COOLING COMPONENT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE PART WAS ON BACKORDER. IN ADDITION A TRANSMISSION FLUSH WAS PERFORMED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO THE LOCAL DEALER FOR ADDITIONAL DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,836.
WENT TO START MY CAR.IN THE DASHBOARD WAS A KEY LIGHT.CAR WOULDN'T START LOOK UP THINGS THAT COULD BE THE PROBLEM SAYING SOMETHING ABOUT STEERING LOCK.THE CAR WAS SITTING AT MY HOUSE .
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED WITHOUT WARNING WHILE DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE CONTACT COASTED THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND POWERED OFF THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO NISSAN 24 (1016 BELMONT ST, BROCKTON, MA 02301, (508) 588-9520) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POSITIVE CRANKCASE VENTILATION VALVE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 139,640.
VEHICLE WILL NOT ACCELERATE, APPEARS TO SLOW DOWN, CAUSING ISSUES ON HIGHWAY. PRESSING THE FUEL PEDAL DOES NOT APPEAR TO WORK; FUEL PEDAL TOUCHING FLOORBOARD AND VEHICLE STILL WILL NOT ACCELERATE.
THE CVT(TRANSMISSION) OF THIS MODEL HAS A HISTORY OF THE TRANSMISSION OVERHEATING AND A WARNING LIGHT COMES ON. THE MANUFACTURER "FIX" TO THIS IS TO PUT IN A COOLING FAN FOR THE TRANSMISSION AT A COST OF $1300. IF THE MANUFACTURERS TRANSMISSION IS KNOWN TO OVERHEAT WHY DOESN'T NISSAN PAY FOR THE COOLING FAN OR FIX AND REPLACE THE CVT TRANSMISSION.
WHEN DRIVING FOR ABOUT 45 MIN OR MORE AND MAYBE A LITTLE HOTTER THAN USUAL, AND YOU ARE DRIVING ON A FREEWAY OR HIGHWAY, THE SPEED WILL LOCK AT 65 OR UNDER, IT WILL NOT LET YOU GO ANY HIGHER, WHEN IT LOCKS IT SLOWS DOWN FAST LIKE IF HITTING THE BREAKS, THIS IS SO DANGEROUS WHEN ON FREEWAY WE HAVE BEEN SO CLOSE TO ACCIDENTS BECAUSE OF THIS, WE TRAVEL ON THE CAR, AND IT HAS DONE IT A LOT LATELY, WE KNOW NOTHING OF WHY IT'S THIS WAY.
VEHICLES SPEED GOES DOWN TO 40MPH TO ALMOST STOPPING. IT SEEMS TO HAPPEN WHEN IT'S HOT OUTSIDE, DRIVING LONG DISTANCES AND DRIVING AT A SPEED ABOVE 70MPH. IT ALSO MAKES A WHINING NOISE WHEN THIS HAPPENS.
THE VEHICLE BEGAN MAKING A WHINING NOISE DURING ACCELERATION AND THEN LOSS POWER ON THE INTERSTATE AND WOULD NOT GO OVER 40MPH EVEN WITH THE GAS PEDAL DEPRESSED ALL THE WAY MAKING A VERY UNSAFE SITUATION FOR MY FAMILY. I'VE DONE RESEARCH AND FOUND SEVERAL OTHER OWNERS COMPLAINING OF THE SAME ISSUE AND RECEIVING NO ASSISTANCE FROM NISSAN ON THIS OBVIOUS SAFETY ISSUE.
I REPLACED ALL FOUR ORIGINAL TIRES ON CAR IN 1/2015. VEHICLE HAD 43K MILES ON; TIRES HAD ALWAYS BEEN ROTATED AND PROPERLY INFLATED TO 32 PSI. DURING THE NEXT MONTHS, I NOTICED INCREASING NOISE AS THE CAR ACCELERATED AND DECELERATED. I TRIED TO DETERMINE THE SOURCE OF THE RYTHMIC THUMPING NOISE BUT WAS UNABLE. I HAD TIRES INSPECTED AND NO PROBLEMS COULD BE FOUND WITH APPROXIMATELY 9,000 MILES ON THE TIRES. I NOTICED INCREASING RHYTHMIC NOISE BUT COULD NOT LOCATE WHICH TIRE WAS THE SOURCE. WE HAD A FLAT TIRE FROM A ROOFING NAIL IN THE RR WHICH REQUIRED THE TIRE TO BE REPLACED. REPLACED TIRE WITH ANOTHER GOODYEAR ASSURANCE. WITH THIS NEW TIRE ON THE RR, I WAS ABLE TO LOCATE THE ROAD RUMBLE TO THE RIGHT FRONT, SO I HAD THAT TIRE REPLACED WITH ANOTHER GOODYEAR ASSURANCE. NOISE SEEMED TO GO AWAY. AS MY WIFE IS THE PRINCIPLE DRIVER OF THIS CAR, I THOUGHT THE PROBLEM HAD BEEN SOLVED WITH THE TWO NEW TIRES (AS ONE HAD BEEN FAILING). ON A 500 MILE TRIP, I NOTICED THAT THE ROAD NOISE (LOW RUMBLE DIRECTLY ASSOCIATED WITH TIRE SPEED, ESPECIALLY AT LOW SPEEDS). I NOW REALIZE THAT THE ROAD NOISE MUST BE COMING FROM ONE/OR BOTH OF THE ORIGINAL TIRES THAT WERE PLACED ON THE CAR IN 2017. ON CLOSE INSPECTION OF THESE TWO TIRES, I HAVE NOTICED MULTIPLE AREAS OF A FINE SPLITTING APPROXIMATELY 1 INCH DOWN THE SIDE OF THE SIDE WALL ON BOTH OF THESE TIRES WHICH MAY BE INDICATIVE OF TREAD SEPARATION. I AM TO THE POINT WHERE I FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE TAKING THIS CAR ON THE HIGHWAY. I HAVE ASKED THREE DIFFERENT DEALERS ABOUT THIS AND I GET MANY ASSORTED ANSWERS, BUT THE BOTTOM LINE IS THAT THESE TIRES MAKE A RUMBLING NOISE DIRECTLY RELATED TO TIRE SPEED AND SHOW SIGNS OF SIDEWALL CRACKING. I DON'T WANT TO GET TO THE POINT OF AN ENDANGERING BLOWOUT AND AM CONSIDERING REPLACING ALL 4 TIRES IN THE NEAR FUTURE. THIS CAR IS DRIVEN MOSTLY ON LOCAL CITY STREET AND VERY INFREQUENTLY ON HIGHWAYS.
AFTER AN HOUR OF HIGHWAY DRIVING, IN WARM WEATHER, TRANSMISSION GOES INTO SAFE MODE, LOSES POWER, TRANSMISSION SHUTS DOWN. PEDDLE TO THE FLOOR AND ZIPPO, NOTHING, NO POWER, VERY DANGEROUS WHEN ON HIGHWAY. NISSAN WAS OF NO HELP. THEIR CVT TRANNY IS HE PROBLEM. SOME MODELS WERE RECALLED ALREADY AND SOME WARRANTIES WERE EXTENDED, BUR NOT MINE. THEY WANT OVER 5 GRAND TO REPLACE TRANS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, THE VEHICLE HESITATED AND VIBRATED MODERATELY WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (CROSSROADS NISSAN WAKE FOREST, 1120 CAPITAL BLVD, WAKE FOREST, NC), BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN FROM THE DEALER AND THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED APPROXIMATELY THREE OTHER TIMES. AFTER ONE OF THE FAILURES, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE SAME DEALER WHERE THEY RECOMMENDED A TRANSMISSION FLUSH. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THEN IT EXPERIENCED A COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND DID NOT ASSIST SINCE THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,858.
TAKATA RECALLS. I AM EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH MY SEALS AROUND MY WINDOWS. WHEN IT RAINS MY CAR GETS WATER IN THE DOORS.STATIONARY
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER (LYNCHBURG NISSAN, 18588 FOREST RD, LYNCHBURG, VA) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE ENGINE LOST POWER AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. MCDONOUGH NISSAN (1775 AVALON PKWY, MCDONOUGH, GA) DIAGNOSED THAT THE CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 60,000. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED.
I WAS DRIVING TO THE AIRPORT AND OUT OF NO WHERE, MY CAR STARTS JERKING AND SPUTTERING WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD TO THE DROP OFF TERMINALS. I LOST ALL ACCELERATION CONTROL AND COULDN'T EVEN MOVE. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER AND HAD TO HAVE MY CAR TOWED. TURNS OUT 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA HAS VERY COMMON CVT TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. IT IS UNABLE TO DRIVE WITHOUT JERKING, SPUTTERING, OR EVEN MOVING. I CALL THE 1-800 NUMBER FOR NISSAN AND THEY SAID THERE WASN'T A RECALL FOR THE TRANSMISSION FOR THIS VEHICLE. I WAS TOLD TO TAKE IT DOWN AND HAVE IT DIAGNOSED AND THEY CAN REVIEW IT WITH NO GUARANTEE OR PROMISE OF A POSITIVE OUTCOME. TRANSMISSIONS FOR THIS VEHICLE TO BE REPLACED ARE AROUND $4000.
CAR BEGAN TO MAKE A WHIRRING SOUND AND LOST POWER ON FREEWAY ONLY ALLOWING MY CHILDREN AND I TO ONLY GO 20 MPH WHILE CARS WERE MERGING ON IN A HIGH TRAFFIC AREA. THE CAR DID THIS A FEW TIMES DURING LONGER TRIPS (45 MILES OR MORE) ON THE SIDE OF A REGULAR ROAD. AFTER A COUPLE MECHANICS THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP FOUND THE PROBLEM HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR OVERHEATS BECAUSE THE COOLING SYSTEM STOPPED WORKING. WE HAD TO PUT A NEW COOLER IN IT.
MY ALTIMA STARTED MAKING THIS WHINING NOISE WHEN I PRESSED ON THE GAS PEDAL UP HILL AND COASTED DOWN HILL AND THIS WAS DURING THE DAY IN THE HEAT.
WAS TOLD MY CAR HAD A RECAL JUST DIDN'T KNOW WHETHER TO GO TO A NISSAN DEALERSHIP OR WHERE I PURCHASED CAR TO GET THE PROBLEM FIXED.
THE DASHBOARD ON MY 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA IS MELTING. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM FOR MONTHS. THE MELTING AREAS BECOME SOFT, STICKY, CRACKED AND SHINY. IF THE DASHBOARD IS NOT REPLACED THE GLARE CREATED BY THE SHINY AREAS WILL MAKE THE CAR HAZARDOUS TO DRIVE AND THE MELTING WILL ULTIMATELY DAMAGE THE EQUIPMENT COVERED BY THE DASHBOARD - EQUIPMENT THE CAR NEEDS TO OPERATE SAFELY AND EQUIPMENT THE DASHBOARD IS DESIGNED TO PROTECT. A RECALL WAS ISSUED FOR 2008 AND 2009 NISSAN ALTIMAS IN WHICH THEIR MELTING DASHBOARDS WERE REPLACED. I HAVE SEEN INTERNET POSTS/COMPLAINTS BY OTHER NISSAN ALTIMA OWNERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM AS MINE INVOLVING OTHER YEARS. I HAVE LIVED IN FLORIDA ALMOST MY ENTIRE LIFE AND HAVE NEVER HAD A DASHBOARD REACT THIS WAY; NEITHER HAVE ANY FAMILY MEMBERS OR FRIENDS. I HAVE TALKED WITH THE DEALER AND ALSO REGISTERED A COMPLAINT WITH NISSAN (I HAVE THE COMPLAINT NUMBER AND THE DEALER SENT PICTURES) BUT NEITHER ARE WILLING TO HELP. THE COST OF REPLACING THE DASHBOARD IS OVER $2000. ANOTHER MORE ENCOMPASSING RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED REQUIRING NISSAN TO REPLACE ALL MELTING DASHBOARDS REGARDLESS OF YEAR. DOING SO WILL ENSURE THE SAFETY OF THE DRIVER AND THE PROTECTION OF THE CAR AND ITS EQUIPMENT - PROTECTIONS RIGHTFULLY EXPECTED BY THE DRIVER AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE. SINCE THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM I HAVE NOTED BELOW THE APPROXIMATE DATE THAT I ACTUALLY REALIZED THE DASHBOARD WAS MELTING.
THE DASHBOARD IS MELTING AND I HAVE TROUBLE SEEING THE ROAD AND OTHER CARS.
THERE IS AN ELECTRIC SYSTEM ISSUE WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL. I HAVE HAD THE ISSUE 4 YEARS. THE STEERING WHEEL AND THE BRAKES WILL LOCK UP AND THE ENGINE WILL NOT TURN OVER. IN ORDER TO START THE CAR THE BATTERY DISCONNECTED FIRST AND THEN PLUG BACK IN AND THEN IT WILL START BACK UP.IN THE PAST I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY HAVE NEVER FOUND ANY ISSUES ON THE DIAGNOSTICS.
I'M HAVING ISSUES WITH MY TRANSMISSION THAT ARE MOST LIKELY LEADING TO IT NEEDING TO BE REPLACED AND AFTER DOING FURTHER RESEARCH IT SEEMS THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE WITH THE EXACT SAME MAKE AND MODEL AND A LOT WITH THE SAME YEAR OR ONLY A FEW YEARS DIFFERENCE THAT HAVE HAD THE EXACT SAME ISSUE. WITH THIS MANY PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME ISSUES I THINK NISSAN NEEDS TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY.
MY 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA HAS LESS THAN 53,000 MILES, FOR THE PAST SEVERAL MONTHS I KEEP GETTING A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT THAT COMES ON AND THEN GOES AWAY AFTER ABOUT A WEEK. WHEN CHECKED THE CODE IT IS GIVING IS P0826 WHICH INDICATES "A PROBLEM IN THE ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT OF THE UPSHIFT/DOWNSHIFT SWITCH TO THE TRANSMISSION RANGE CORRELATION CIRCUIT. THIS CIRCUIT INCLUDES THE SWITCH, WIRING, CONNECTORS, AND MODE ACTUATOR, AND IS USED ON VEHICLES THAT HAVE MANUALLY SHIFTABLE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS. THIS LIGHT COMES ON AT ALL TIMES AND WILL GO OUT AFTER A WEEK OR SO.
APPARENTLY DUE TO THE FACT THAT MY WARRANTY HAS PASSED & DON'T LIVE IN FL (LA & TX ARE JUST AS HOT) & I'M NOT A REPEAT CUSTOMER (EVEN THOUGH I BOUGHT MINE ON MY PARENTS RECOMMENDATION WHO OWNED ONE), THE DEFECTIVE DASHBOARD NISSAN EXPERIMENTED WITH ON 09-12 ALTIMAS THAT IS STICKY, MELTING, DISINTEGRATING, & CAUSING A DANGEROUS SHINY GLARE ON MY GLASS THAT IS CAUSING VISIBILITY PROBLEMS IS NOT SOMETHING NISSAN IS WORRIED ABOUT. I GUESS I'D HAVE TO DIE IN A HORRIBLE CAR CRASH & MY FAMILY SUE BEFORE NISSAN WOULD LIKE TO RECALL THEIR DEFECTIVE CARS. THIS IS NOT SOMETHING I'VE DONE TO MY CAR. NOT BECAUSE OF WEAR & TEAR I'VE PUT ON MY VEHICLE. I UNDERSTAND WHAT WARRANTIES ARE ALL ABOUT. THIS IS A DEFECTIVE MATERIAL NISSAN USED & WHAT IF ANY FUTURE VEHICLE I PURCHASE FROM NISSAN HAS SOMETHING WRONG & NISSAN CHOOSES NOT TO FIX IT? DOES THAT MAKE ME WANT TO BE A REPEAT CUSTOMER???? TO THIS POINT I LOVED MY NISSAN & FULLY INTENDED TO UPGRADE TO A BIGGER VEHICLE FOR ALL THE CHURCH KIDDOS WE HAUL AROUND. NISSAN HAS TREATED US LIKE INSIGNIFICANT DIRT WHEN THIS IS FACTORY DEFECTED PRODUCT. I'M SURE MANY PEOPLE IN FLORIDA HAD TO COME TOGETHER FOR A GROUP LAWSUIT BEFORE NISSAN TOOK ACTION. THIS IS NOT JUST A SMALL UNIMPORTANT ISSUE. THE GLARE IS UNSAFE AND AS MY HUSBAND WORKS IN CONSTRUCTION WHERE 'SAFETY FIRST' IS THE COMPANY'S MOTTO, WE ARE SPEECHLESS THAT THIS HAS NOT BEEN RECALLED. IF THIS COMPANY DOES NOT STEP UP TO THE PLATE AND MAKE THIS RIGHT, WE WILL BE TAKING OUR BUYER PURCHASING ELSEWHERE. THIS IS NOT WORTH SOMEONE LOSING THEIR LIFE OVER. NISSAN CAN BITE THE BULLET & LOSE $2,000 TO A NEW DASH WHEREAS MOST OF US CAN'T DO THAT OURSELVES. A COMPANY OF THIS SIZE & SUPPOSED REPUTATION COULD & SHOULD TAKE THIS HIT. I'M WORRIED ABOUT IT AFFECTING MY PASSENGER AIRBAG NOW AS WELL! PICKED A DATE BC PROB IS ONGOING AND NO WRECK HAS OCCURRED YET THANKFULLY.
MY NISSAN ALTIMA 2.5 S, AT 123,000 MILES, BEGAN LOSING POWER WHILE I WAS DRIVING IN BUSY TRAFFIC. MY CAR EVENTUALLY STOPPED. I HAD MY CAR HAULED TO MY HOME, BY A TOW TRUCK. THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED AND GIVEN THE VIN #. THIS PARTICULAR YEAR (2011), WAS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST , BUT PREVIOUS YEARS HAD BEEN ADDED TO THE LIST, FOR THE SAME PROBLEM (CVT TRANSMISSION). I READ MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS ONLINE REGARDING NISSANS TROUBLE WITH THE CVT TRANSMISSION IN ALL NISSAN CARS FOR ALL YEARS. THE DEALERSHIP ADMITTED THERE WERE PROBLEMS AND COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE CVT TRANSMISSIONS, BUT THEY COULDN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT SINCE MY CAR'S YEAR (2011) WASN'T ON THE LIST. I HAVE TAKEN GREAT CARE OF MY CAR, KEEPING UP WITH THE PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE, SINCE I PURCHASED IT BRAND NEW. ANY CAR LOSING POWER IN BUSY TRAFFIC IS A SAFETY ISSUE. THIS ISSUE SHOULD HAVE A CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT BROUGHT AGAINST NISSAN. IT IS FREQUENTLY TALKED ABOUT ONLINE. A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF NISSAN CUSTOMERS ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE (CVT TRANSMISSION) IN ALL OF THEIR CARS, NO MATTER HOW MANY MILES THE CARS HAVE BEEN DRIVEN. PLEASE HAVE NISSAN TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS FAULTY CVT TRANSMISSION THAT THEY CHOSE TO INSTALL IN ALL OF THEIR CARS, WHICH WAS A BIG MISTAKE AND A DANGER TO THE NISSAN DRIVERS AND THE PUBLIC. CVT TRANSMISSIONS, WHICH ARE EQUIVALENT TO A PULLEY /CHAIN SYSTEM, DO NOT BELONG IN CARS. A MORE DURABLE/APPROPRIATE TRANSMISSION IS NEEDED IN THEIR CARS TO KEEP THE NISSAN DRIVERS AND THE PUBLIC SAFE FROM HARM OR DEATH. THIS ISSUE IS A DISASTER WAITING TO HAPPEN. MY CAR IS CURRENTLY WITH A MECHANIC, ATTEMPTING TO BE REPAIRED WITH A USED CVT TRANSMISSION, WHICH IS ALL I COULD AFFORD AT THIS TIME. I FEEL IT DOESN'T MATTER WHETHER IT'S USED OR NEW, IT'S STILL A CVT TRANSMISSION THAT WILL EVENTUALLY FAIL. RENTING A CAR NOW. I WILL UPLOAD THE REPAIR BILL WHEN THE REPAIR IS COMPLETED.
WHEN PRESSING ON THE GAS PEDAL, THE VEHICLE DOES NOT MOVE, IT IS NOT GETTING POWER; PER THE DEALERSHIP THE TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC STATED THAT THE MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR MAY NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER (BEN MYNATT NISSAN, 629 JAKE ALEXANDER BLVD S, SALISBURY, NC 28147, (704) 633-7270) STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NEED TO BE INSPECTED AND DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND ISSUED 8 TSBS ON THE ENGINE, BUT THERE WAS NO MANUFACTURER RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE. *TT *TR
IN JANUARY 2018, I TOOK MY NISSAN ALTIMA TO A NEARBY AUTHORIZED NISSAN DEALER EXPLAINING THAT THE CAR WAS NOT ACCELERATING AFTER STOPPING. WHEN DEPRESSING THE GAS PEDAL, THE CAR ENGINE WOULD NOT IMMEDIATELY ENGAGE AND WOULD STAY IDLE UNTIL SECONDS PASSED TO WHICH POINT THE CAR WOULD ACCELERATE TO THE SPEED LIMIT WHIL DRIVING ON INTERSTATES AND LOCAL ROADS. THE NISSAN DEALER (PORTER NISSAN IN NEWARK DE) INDICATED THE DESPITE MY HAVING BROUGHT THE CAR IN FOR SERVICE REGULARLY (MOST RECENTLY IN DEC. 2017 AND JULY 2017) THEY INDICATED PREVIOUS DIAGNOSTIC TESTS HAD NOT FOUND THAT MY TRANSMISSION WAS IN NEED OF REPAIRS. THEY INDICATED THAT THE REPAIR COST WOULD EXCEED $5,000 WHICH IS CLEARLY A RESULT OF A DEFECTIVE MANUFACTURING PROCESS GIVEN MY CAR HAS UNDER 85,000 MILES. MY EXTENDED WARRANTY EXPIRED AND SO.I CONTACTED NISSAN DIRECTLY AND REPORTED THE CONCERN AND THEY HAVE OPENED A CASE NUMBER BUT HAVEN'T HEARD BACK FROM THEM. I'VE DONE RESEARCH ONLINE AND IT APPEARS NISSAN HAS BEEN SUBJECTED TO FEDERAL LAW SUITS STEMMING FROM TRANSMISSIONS DIFFICULTIES AND IN RESPONSE EXTENDED THE WARRANTY FROM 100K TO 120 MILES FOR NISSAN ALTIMAS MANUFACTURED BETWEEN 2003-2010. THEREFORE, I AM REPORTING THESE CONCERNS TO YOUR ORGANIZATION AND WOULD RESPECTFULLY REQUEST YOUR GUIDANCE ON NEXT STEPS.
ON JULY 9, 2017 WHEN I WAS DRIVING IN THE HIGH SPEED LINE. MY CAR WENT FROM DOING 65 MILES TO 10 MILES WITH NO WARNING SIGNS. I PUSHED ON THE GAS PEDAL ALL THE WAY DOWN. AND MY CAR STILL WILL NOT GO OVER 10 MILES. ALMOST GOT MYSELF KILLED. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY SAID. THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. 4 MONTHS LATER THE SAME THING HAPPEN WHEN I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY EVERYTHING SHUT DOWN WITH NO WARNING SIGNS. IT WONT GO IN DRIVE OR REVERSE. I JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THERE WAS NO WARNING SIGNS. HOW CAN A CAR JUST SHUT DOWN DRIVING. I ONLY HAD THE CAR FOR FOUR MONTHS. NOW (STATELINE NISSAN EAST PROVIDENCE) DOES NOT WANT TO FIX MY CAR. WHEN IT FIRST HAPPEN I STILL HAD THE 30 DAYS WARRANTY. NOW MY WARRANTY RAN OUT, NOW THEY SAID IT IS GOING TO COST ME MONEY TO FIX MY TRANSMISSION. I THINK THIS IS WRONG WHAT THEY ARE DOING TO THEIR CUSTOMER. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE.
SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT REMAINS ON. CODE PO101. MASS AIR FLOW. CHANGED THE AIR FILTER, AND THE MAF SENSOR BUT LIGHT REMAINS ON BULENTIN NTB12-051D REGARDING THIS ISSUE STATES SHOULD GET THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE REPROGRAMED. I THINK IT SHOULD BE NISSIAN RECALL AND THEY SHOULD COVER IT.
DRIVING ON THE ROAD AT 55 MPH THE NISSAN ALL OF A SUDDEN WOULD NOT GO OVER 20 MPH. AFTER TAKING THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP, THE STATED WE NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE IS ONLY 6 YEARS OLD. WE MAINTAINED THE VEHICLE AND FOLLOWED ALL THE GUIDELINE FOR MAINTENANCE. I WAS QUIET SHOCKED TO LEARN THAT THIS IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE FOR NISSAN CVT TRANSMISSIONS. MY CONCERN IS FOR THE SAFETY OF MY 21 YEAR OLD SON WHO WAS DRIVING THIS VEHICLE WHEN THIS HAPPENED. HE WAS VERY FORTUNATE THAT THERE WAS NOT A CAR BEHIND HIM. THE ESTIMATE TO REPAIR/REPLACE WAS 5300 BEFORE TAX. YES, I WAS SHOCKED. MY SON'S PREVIOUS VEHICLE WAS A 2002 ACURA THAT HE WAS STILL DRIVING UP UNTIL WE INSISTED HE DRIVE A NEW VEHICLE TO COLLEGE FOR HIS SAFETY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A TK HOLDINGS RECALL LETTER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR HAD BEEN ILLUMINATING SINCE JUNE. THE VEHICLE WAS TO TAKEN TO AN UNKNOWN DEALER, BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE PRE-OWNED IN 2014. THE VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 120,000 MILES AND IS ONLY 6 YEARS OLD. I PUT A BRAND NEW BATTERY IN THE VEHICLE A COUPLE WEEKS AGO, I STARTED TO NOTICE WHEN I PUT THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE IT WOULD JOLT, THEN IT STARTED DOING THE SAME THING WHEN I PUT IN DRIVE. I HAD TO PULL OVER WITH MY BABY IN THE CAR AND GOT THE VERHICLE TOWED BECAUSE I WAS SCARED, AND NOW ALL OF A SUDDEN MY TRANSMISSION IS BAD! THE VEHICLE DROVE FINE AND NOW SINCE THE BATTERY CHANGE THE TRANSMISSION. ITS NOT FAIR THAT THEY ONLY COVER CERTAIN VEHICLES WHICH INCLUDE CVT TRANSMISSIONS (ALL SHOULD BE COVERED) THIS IS THEIR FAULT IN MAKING THESE VEHICLES THIS WAY AND I WISH I HAD KNOWN I WOULD HAVE NEVER PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND THE SPEED REDUCED AUTOMATICALLY AND THE RPMS INCREASED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT EXITED OFF THE HIGHWAY AND STOPPED THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, SHIFTED THE GEAR INTO DRIVE; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE AND COULD NOT BE DRIVEN. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO THE DEALER (HERB GORDON NISSAN, 3131 AUTOMOBILE BLVD, SILVER SPRING, MD 20904) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AT 800-647-7261 AND OPENED A CLAIM AND CASE NUMBER: 28500795. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 79,528.
YOU HAVE A NTB 13-088 REGARDING A TPMS ISSUE , SIMILAIR ISSUE I AM HAVING MY TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT COMES ON EVEN THOUGH THERE IS NO TIRE PRESSURE ISSUE. HOWEVER MY VIN # ISN'T COVERED IN THE RECALL. WANTED TO KNOW MORE ABOUT THE NTB - 13-088 RECALL AND IF THAT IS WHAT I AM EXPERIENCING IS THERE A WAY TO GET MY VIN # ADDED
HELLO, MY CAR CAUGHT ON FIRE STARTING FROM THE ENGINE. TRANSMISSION PROBLEM CAME OUT OF NOWHERE AND CAUGHT ON FIRE
WHILE IN MOTION THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT COMES ON AND IT WILL NOT LET US ACCELERATE ABOVE 2500 RPM. THE CAR JOLTS OR STUTTERS NOT CHANGING INTO A HIGHER GEAR. WITH IT BEING A CVT TRANSMISSION I DON'T KNOW HOW THAT WORKS BUT THE ONLY WAY WE WERE ABLE TO GET HOME FROM THE MIDDLE OF OUR TRIP BACK FROM GA DUE TO HURRICANE IRMA WAS TO USE THE OPTIONAL GEAR SHIFT MODE AND SLOWLY ACCELERATE THROUGH THE GEARS WHILE NOT GOING OVER 2500 RPM. MY BROTHER LOOKED INTO IT AND SAID IT MAY BE A FAULTY SENSOR.
FEW WEEKS AGO I NOTICED A WHINING NOISE FROM MY CAR, AND THEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I HAD MY BROTHER LOOK AT MY CAR BECAUSE HE WORKS ON CARS AND IS A MECHANIC AND HE SAID IT IS MY TRANSMISSION. THE CAR IS 6 YEARS OLD AND THIS SHOULDN'T BE HAPPENING.
NISSAN 2011 CVT TRANSMISSION FAILURE. CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY HIGHWAY, NARROWLY ESCAPING A CRASH WITH ANOTHER CAR. COST TO REPLACE $+4000. 2003-2010 ALTIMA CVT OWNERS COMPLAINED ABOUT CVT TRANSMISSIONS AND GRANTED COMPLETE REIMBURSEMENT COVERAGE...5 YEARS/60,000 MILES CHANGED TO 10 YEARS/120,000 MILES. NISSAN CUSTOMER SERVICE DENIED $ SUPPORT FOR MY 2011 ALTIMA NOR WOULD THEY TELL ME WHETHER I HAD THE SAME CVT THAT THE 2010 MODEL HAD...IF IT WAS THE SAME CVT SHOULD I NOT BE GRANTED THE SAME COVERAGE/? THE CVT I HAD ENDANGERED MY LIFE WITHOUT ANY WARNING! A REVIEW OF OTHER DRIVERS AND LAW SUITS SUGGESTS THAT CVT IS A DANGER TO MORE THAN MYSELF. NISSAN HAS NOT RELEASED INFORMATION TO ME OR OTHER DRIVERS (ONE INTERNET ARTICLE STATED THAT A NISSAN CEO SAID THERE WERE NO CHANGES MADE??)
ALL 4 LOCKS SOMETIMES WILL NOT LOCK/UNLOCK, CREATING A SAFETY CONCERN WHEN YOU NEED TO EXIT THE VEHICLE IN AN EMERGENCY.
1) WHEN ACCELERATING FROM S STOP, MY CAR WILL JERK (LIKE THE TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPING). IT WILL OFTEN JERK WHILE MY CAR IS IN MOTION AS WELL. THIS HAPPENS ON CITY STREETS & FREEWAYS/HIGHWAYS. 2) THERE IS ALSO AN ISSUE WITH THE "HOOD LATCH" NOT LOCKING COMPLETELY. IT SOMETIMES LOOKS LIKE THE HOOD IS GOING TO POP OPEN WHEN DRIVING .
AT 93,000 MILES THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $3,700. THE ONLY REPLACEMENT TRANSMISSION COST MORE THAN $2,500 IS SOLD BY NISSAN AND ONLY COMES WITH A 12 MONTH WARRANTY. THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS. WHY DOES THE 120,000 MILE WARRANTY STOP WITH THE 2010 MODEL WHEN THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS IN THE MODELS AFTER 2010?
AIRBAG SENSOR IN PASSENGERS SIDE IS STATING THAT AIRBAGS ARE OFF EVEN WHEN THERE IS A PASSENGER RIDING IN FRONT. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY WHEN FIRST NOTICED. NEVER CHANGED WHEN IN MOTION OR RESTARTING VEHICLE.
APPROXIMATELY 4-6 WEEKS AGO THE CAR STARTED TO JERK OCCASIONALLY. THEN IT BECAME MORE PREDOMINANT. WE JUST FOUND OUT TODAY THAT THE TRANSMISSION IS NO GOOD AND THAT THERE IS A HISTORY OF CVT TRANSMISSION FAILURE. THE COST TO REPAIR IS $3900. THE TRADE-IN VALUE IS $2000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG INDICATOR WAS FLASHING AND THE TRACTION INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. ALSO, WHILE DRIVING, THE ENGINE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 170,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE, IT HESITATED AND FAILED TO ACCELERATE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CVT INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE FLOORBOARD WAS CONSTANTLY DAMP. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE AIR MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED/RESET. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 170,000.
MULTIPLE MECHANICAL ISSUES INCLUDING THE HEAT. THE HOOD WAS ON FIRE AND I WAS STUCK DUE TO MECHANICAL ISSUES. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO GET OUT AFTER IT GOT TOO BAD.
MY 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA PRESENTED PROBLEMS OF LOUD NOISES AND VIBRATIONS. IT EVENTUALLY SOUNDED HORRIFIC. THE SOUND WAS WORSE FROM START TO STOP. UPON INSPECTION A BOLT CAME OUT OF THE ENGINE MOUNT AND MY ENGINE WAS MOVING AROUND.
LOCKS/ LATCHES ARE NON RESPONSIVE.
TIMING BELT TENSIONER MAKES A RATTLING NOISE WHEN I FIRST START THE CAR. THERE HAS BEEN NO MAINTANENCE LIGHTS GOING OFF INSIDE THE CAR AND AFTER DRIVING THE CAR FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME AND COMING TO A COMPLETE STOPPING POINT A STRONG BURNED RUBBER ODOR IS PRESENT.
WHEN I START THE CAR UP THERE IS A LOUD RATTLING NOISE FOR ABOUT 45 SECONDS THEN GOES AWAY. ALSO AS I AM DRIVING MY CAR THERE IS A BURNED RUBBER SMELL AND IS MOSTLY NOTICEABLE WHEN I GET FROM POINT A TO B AND EXIT THE CAR. *TR
2011 NISSAN ALTIMA SR SEDAN 3.5 CVT. WHEN DRIVING, CVT GOES INTO SAFE MODE WITH REDUCED ACCELERATION, INDICATING A TRANSMISSION ISSUE AND WOULD ALSO TRIGGER VEHICLE DYNAMIC CONTROL SYSTEM FAULT.. ORIGINAL ENGINE CODE WAS P0175. HAD MECHANIC REPLACE 31935-1XF00 SPEED SENSOR ASSY. PROBLEM WAS NOT CORRECTED. TOOK TO LOCAL DEALER AND WAS TOLD NEEDS NEW TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE UNIT $850 AND NEW TRANSMISSION $3,500. ONLY 39,400 MILES ON VEHICLE (60,000 MILE POWERTRAIN) BUT PAST HE 60 MONTH WARRANTY BY 5 MONTHS. NISSAN WILL NOT COVER. NISSAN NA CONSUMER AFFAIRS CONTACTED, RESEARCHED AND ALSO DENIED. WILL NOT COVER AND WILL NOT PROVIDE ANY PARTIAL ASSISTANCE. CAR IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION, DRIVEN LIGHTLY AND NO WAY TRANSMISSION SHOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED AT 39,000 MILES. MANUFACTURE DATE OF VEHICLE IS DEC 2010. NISSAN EXTENDED CVT WARRANTIES TO 10 YEARS / 120K MILES FOR SEVERAL YEARS BECAUSE OF THE SAME AND OTHER CVT ISSUES. STOPPED EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR 2011 MODELS. DON'T KNOW IF CAR IS SAFE TO DRIVE OR IF TRANSMISSION IS GOING TO FULLY FAIL. TOOK VEHICLE BACK FROM DEALER, CAN'T AFFORD TO FIX. NOW TRYING TO REPLACE TRANSMISSION CONTROL UNIT WITH USED SAME YEAR/MODEL. WHEN VEHICLE IS COMPLETELY DISCONNECTED, TROUBLE CODES CLEARED AND ALL ELECTRICAL DRAINED, THEN RECONNECTED, ALL ISSUES DISAPPEAR FOR 10 TO 20 MILES OF PERFECTLY NORMAL DRIVING, THEN ISSUES RECUR WITH CVT FAIL SAFE MODE AND VDC FAULT. NISSAN SHOULD BE RECALLING THIS ISSUE AND CORRECTING IT!! AGAIN DON'T KNOW IF VEHICLE IS SAFE TO DRIVE OR IF TRANSMISSION IS GOING TO FAIL IN THE MIDDLE OF GETTING ONTO HIGHWAY IN HEAVY TRAFFIC? DEALER DIAGNOSTIC SHOWED A NUMBER OF CODES: P0175 INPUT SPEED SENSOR A (EVEN THOUGH IT HAS BEEN REPLACED AND NEW), P1700 CVT C/U FUNCT, P1715 IN PULY SPEED, U1000 CAN COMM CIRCUIT AND ALSO TOLD THE TCM IS NOT SENDING A SIGNAL. *TR
MY DASHBOARD STARTED MELTING!! IN JUST THE PAST MONTH IT HAS TURNED IN TO A SHINY STICKY MESS THAT CANNOT BE CLEANED AND IMPEDES VISION DUE TO THE REFLECTION OFF THE WINDSHIELD. VERY DANGEROUS! I HAVE CONTACTED NISSAN AND AM AWAITING A RESPONSE TO SEE IF THEY WILL HELP RESOLVE THE ISSUE OR NOT.
MY TROUBLE BEGAN AS I SAT AND FUELED MY CAR WITH THE SAME TYPE OF GAS THAT I HAVE BEEN USING FOR YEARS. I FILLED MY TANK, STARTED MY CAR AND IT STARTED HUFFING AND PUFFING AS IF IT WAS ABOUT TO SHUT OFF. AFTER A FEW MINUTES IT STOPPED. A FEW DAYS LATER WHILE I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD ONE DAY I HEARD THIS LOUD RATTLING NOISE AS IF A CHAIN OR SOMETHING WAS DRAGGING THE GROUND OR BEING RATTLED. I APPROACHED A RED LIGHT AND LOWERED MY RADIO TO LISTEN AND AS I SAT IDLE IN DRIVE I COULD HEAR THIS RATTLING NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT END OF MY CAR. AS I DROVE DOWN THE ROAD FURTHER IT CONTINUED THEN STOPPED. I THEN PARKED MY CAR AND AS I WAS IN REVERSE THE SOUND CAME BACK. I WENT ON ABOUT MY DAY AND RETURNED TO MY CAR TO START IT UP AND AS I STARTED IT I HEARD THE RATTLING LOUD NOISE AGAIN. I BACKED OUT OF MY PARKING SPOT AND IT CONTINUED. AS I DRIVING AROUND AT A SPEED OF ABOUT 30-40 I COULD HEAR THE NOISE COME AND GO. I TOOK MY CAR TO NISSAN AND THEY TOLD ME THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. THEY TOLD ME EVERYTHING UNDER THE HOOD OF MY CAR WAS FINE. A FEW DAYS LATER I BROUGHT MY CAR BACK TO NISSAN INFORMING THEM THE NOISE IS CONTINUING AND MY CAR SHAKES AND JERKS. I LEFT MY CAR AND THEY CALLED AND SAID MY ALTERNATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. JUST A COUPLE DAYS PRIOR THEY SAID EVERYTHING WAS FINE SO NOW I'M CONFUSED. I TOOK MY CAR TO 3 SEPARATE AUTO SHOPS AND HAD THEM TEST MY ALTERNATOR AND ALL 3 SAID MY ALTERNATOR, BATTERY AND STARTER WERE WORKING PERFECTLY. I BEGAN TO RESEARCH ONLINE TO SEE IF ANYONE HAD THE SAME ISSUES I HAVE AND THERE IT WAS. A RECALL FOR THE TRANSVERSE LINK BOLT. I'M PISSED THAT NISSAN WOULD TRY TO RIP OF A CUSTOMER LIKE THAT. *TR
SUN ROOF EXPLODED FOR NO REASON CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP AT A RED LIGHT STARTED TO EXCELERATE TO 45 MPH THEN A LARGE BOOM SUN ROOF SHATTERED HAVE A POLICE REPORT THOUGHT SOME ONE HAD SHOT AT ME BUT THEY HAD NOT ACCORDING TO POLICE
EVER SINCE I PURCHASED THIS CAR TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR KEEPS COMING ON CHANGE ALL 4 TIRES BRAND NEW ONES RESET THE COMPUTER AND IT STILL COMES ON THE CAR SWERVES AND IT'S SOMETIMES HARD TO CONTROL AFTER A CERTAIN SPEED I'VE LEARNED THAT A 2011 SUBARU HAD A RECALL ON THEIR SUSPENSION AND I BELIEVE THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THIS CAR I CALLED THE POLICE ON THE 800 NUMBER PUT A COMPLAINT IN THEY TOLD ME UNDER THIS PHONE NUMBER THERE WAS REALLY NO RECALLS BUT THEY SAID TO TAKE IT TO A DEALER HAVE IT DIAGNOSED AT MY OWN EXPENSE WHICH I CAN'T REALLY AFFORD LITERALLY CAN'T AFFORD HEFTY BILL FROM THE NISSAN DEALER IM DISABLED PERSON LIVING ON FIXED INCOME BASICALLY FINANCES VEHICLE TO A FRIEND ALL I'M ASKING FROM THEM IS TO HAVE THE DEALER THEY'RE CERTIFIED DEALER TO CHECK THE CAR FOR ANY SAFETY CONCERNS THIS CAR ONLY HAS 59000 WELL MAINTAINED 2011 NISSAN 19947 LAST 6 OF THE VAN THANK YOU LOCAL HIGHWAY. *TR

STEERING WHEEL LOCK MECHANISM MALFUNCTIONING. STEERING WHEEL LOCKS, BRAKE PAD LOCKS. CAR TURNS ON BUT ENGINE WILL NOT START. KEY FOB OPENS DOOR. LIGHTS AND DASH LIGHT UP.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE STREET AT A RATE OF 50 MPH AND MY SUNROOF EXPLODED.
I NEVER WILL BUY A NISSAN
AT 45MPH MY VEHICLE LOST POWER AND WHEN GAS WAS PRESSED IT DID NOT RESPOND. I CONTINUED TO TRAVEL HOME. EVERYTIME I STOPPED AT STOP SIGN OR SLOW SPEED AND TRY TO ACCELERATE THE CAR WOULD SHAKE VIOLENTLY (ALL CAPTURED ON VIDEO) AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THIS WAS VERY SCARY. NO SERVICE LIGHT EVER CAME ON!!!! I CONTINUE THE APPROXIMATELY 3-4 MILE DRIVE HOME AND IT WOULD DO THE SAME EVERY TIME I SLOWED OR STOPPED. I HAD TO DRIVE UP A VERY STEEP HILL AND I DID NOT THINK MY CAR WAS GOING TO MAKE IT. THE RESEARCH I HAVE DONE AND THE INFORMATION SHARED TO ME BY SEVERAL MECHANICS STATE THAT THE 2007-2010 ALTIMAS WARRANTY FOR THE CVT WERE EXTENDED FROM 60,000 TO 120,000. THIS SHOULD HAVE INCLUDED THE 2011 ALSO, BECAUSE THE CVT PROBLEMS CONTINUE. MY CAR HAS ONLY 104,000 MILES ON IT AND SHOULD NOT NEED A 4,000 TRANSMISSION. I HAVE OWNED A MAXIMA AND SENTRA IN PAST AND THEY WERE REALLY GREAT CARS. ALL OF THE RESEARCH THAT I HAVE DONE REVEALS TO ME THAT JATCO WHICH NISSAN HAS 75% OWNERSHIP OF SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE AND LIABLE FOR THESE ISSUES. THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD PROTECT THE PUBLIC FROM THIS MONOPOLY AND HELP THE LITTLE GUY. IT DOES NOT TAKE MUCH RESEARCH TO KNOW THAT THERE IS A MAJOR ISSUE. THE CLASS ACTION SUIT THAT INDIVIDUALS HAD TO FILE DUE TO THE CVT IN PATHFINDERS BEING JUNK SHOWS THE GOVERNMENT DID NOT PROTECT THEM. I WILL NEVER OWN ANOTHER NISSAN! DO THE RIGHT THING NISSAN AND EXTEND THE WARRANTY TO ALL VEHICLES THAT ARE OBVIOUSLY HAVING CVT PROBLEMS DUE TO POOR PRODUCT PERFORMANCE AND IF NISSAN WILL NOT THE GOVERNMENT HAS ENOUGH EVIDENCE TO MAKE THEM DO WHAT THEY SHOULD HAVE DONE ON THE OWN. EVEN THE CEO OF NISSAN HAS HAD AN ARTICLE WRITTEN ABOUT THEM HOLDING JATCO ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR INEPT PRODUCT. *TR
I HAVE A 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA COUPE WITH 61K MILES AND THE DASH IS MELTING AND THEIRS A GLAIR ON MY WINDSHIELD AND I'VE ALMOST GOTTEN IN TO A WRECK SEVERAL TIMES DUE TO THE SUN IN FLORIDA AND THE GLAIR NISSAN WON'T HELP WITH THE 2K BILL TO REPLACE THE DASH
THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT IS FLASHING AND SHOWING AS TURNED OFF EVEN WHEN THE SEAT IS OCCUPIED. I SEARCHED FOR RECALLS DEALING WITH THIS SAFETY ISSUED AND FIND RECALLS FOR THIS ISSUE ON THE 2007 TO 2008 ALTIMA (RECALL 08V521000) AND A NEW RECALL IS JUST READ ABOUT ON THE 2013 TO 2016 ALTIMA,BUT NONE ON MY YEAR. I OPENED A CASE (#23576396) AND TOOK IT TO MY NISSAN DEALER AS INSTRUCTED BY THE PERSON I SPOKE WITH AT THE CORPORATE NUMBER TO HAVE THE ISSUE ANALIZED. THE SERVICE MANAGER AT THE DEALER TOLD ME THE SENSOR IN THE PASSENGER SEAT IS DEFECTIVE AND THE FIX IS TO REPLACE THE SEAT AT A COST OF $550.00 PLUS LABOR. I TOLD HIM I WOULD TALK TO THE CORPORATE CONTACT AND WAS CHARGED $121.50 FOR DIAGNOSIS WHEN I PICK MY CAR UP. I SPOKE TO ALLISE AT CORP. AND EXPLAINED WHAT THE SERVICE MANAGER HAD TOLD ME AND WAS TOLD THAT NISSAN'S POSITION IS THIS IS MY RESPONSIBILITY TO PAY FOR. I TOLD HER I WILL FILE A COMPLAINT WITH THE NHTSA AS THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE WHICH RENDERS THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AS UNUSABLE IN THIS CONDITION. THIS CONDITION STARTED APPROXIMATELY 3 MONTHS AGO.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA. AFTER THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND THE PUSH START WAS PRESSED, THE BRAKES SEIZED AND THERE WAS NO ENGINE POWER. ALL THE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT A SOFTWARE UPDATE WAS NEEDED. THE SOFTWARE WAS UPDATED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT BACK TO THE DEALER ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS WHEN THE FAILURE RECURRED; HOWEVER, THE TECHNICIANS COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE ISSUE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 35,998. UPDATED 10/06/16*LJ *CN

"PASSENGER AIRBAG OFF" LIGHT INTERMITTENTLY ILLUMINATES WHEN PASSENGER SEAT IS OCCUPIED BY ADULTS WEIGHING BETWEEN 120 AND 200 POUNDS, INDICATING THE AIRBAG IS DEACTIVATED, THOUGH IT SHOULD BE TURNED ON. PROBLEM HAPPENS BOTH WHILE DRIVING AND PARKED, AND HAS OCCURRED FREQUENTLY FOR THE LIFE OF THE CAR. DEALER COULD NOT REPLICATE, SO ISSUE HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED, AND FAULTY SENSOR HAS NOT BEEN REPLACED. NEWER MODELS (2013'2016) WERE SUBJECTED TO A SAFETY RECALL FOR THE SAME ISSUE. OLDER MODELS SHOULD BE INCLUDED AS WELL, AS THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN FOR PASSENGERS. COMPLAINT FOR 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA 2.5 S.
P0101 POWERTRAIN/MAF CIRCUIT ISSUE KEEPS COMING BACK WITH CAR. EVEN A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN HAS BEEN ISSUED BY THE MANUFACTURER FOR THIS ISSUE. DEALER REPROGRAMMED ECU/UPDATED &
THERE IS A FAULT IN THE SENSOR FOR THE FRONT PASSENGER-SIDE SEAT AIRBAG. IT FAILS TO PROPERLY SENSE THAT AN ADULT IS OCCUPYING THE SEAT. THE AIRBAG-OFF INDICATOR LIGHT OFTEN IS LIT WHEN AN ADULT WHO WEIGHS APPROXIMATELY 102-105 POUNDS, IS SITTING IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. I BROUGHT THIS TO THE ATTENTION OF OUR DEALER, CLAY NISSAN OF NEWTON, MASS. IN DECEMBER 2015. THE DEALER CHARGED ME $99.99 BUT FAILED TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THEIR REPORT STATED THAT THE AIRBAG SYSTEM WAS "OPERATING AS DESIGNED." OBVIOUSLY IT WASN'T. NEWER ALTIMA MODELS HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM. THE 2011 ALTIMA ALSO SHOULD BE RECALLED ASAP.
HELLO,MY QUESTION PERTAINS TO THE NISSAN ALTIMA AND MAXIMA. MAY I PREFACE MY STATEMENTS WITH THE FACT THAT I OWNED A 2005, 2009 AND 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA AND WHILE I TRADED MY LAST ONE IN FOR A DIFFERENT MAKE, I HAD VERY MUCH ENJOYED THE VEHICLE UNTIL I FOUND OUT THERE WAS A DANGEROUS FLAW IN THE ALTIMA AND, I WAS TOLD BY NISSAN, THE MAXIMA.IN MY 2011 ALTIMA, A SERIOUS PANIC STOP, LOCKING UP THE BRAKES, CAUSED MY VEHICLE TO NOT MOVE FOR 3-5 SECONDS. THIS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES AND I HAD MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP LOOK AT THE VEHICLE EACH TIME AND EACH TIME I WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR BUT IT REOCCURRED .AFTER RESPONSES FROM THE DEALERSHIP WENT NOWHERE, I CALLED THE MAIN NISSAN CUSTOMER SERVICE LINE AND WAS TOLD THAT THE PROBLEM WAS IN THE TRANSMISSION OF BOTH VEHICLES. THE SPECIAL SEAMLESS TRANSMISSION WILL CAUSE A 3-5 SECOND DELAY AFTER A PANIC STOP BUT IT WAS NORMAL FOR THAT TYPE OF TRANSMISSION. WHEN I ASKED WHAT TO DO IF THAT OCCURRED ON A FREEWAY WITH A TRUCK BARRELING DOWN ON ME THEY HAD NO ANSWER.NOT SATISFIED WITH THAT RESPONSE I CALLED A LOCAL RADIO AUTO TALK SHOW AND WAS REFERRED TO A LOCAL AUTO SHOP AS HE HAD NEVER HEARD OF THAT SPECIFIC PROBLEM. THE LOCAL AUTO SHOP CHECKED THE VEHICLE AND ALSO SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR BUT WHEN I TOOK THE OWNER OF THE SHOP OUT HE EXPERIENCED IT.HIS RESPONSE WAS THAT THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME HE HAD HEARD AND EXPERIENCED IT BUT UNLESS THERE WERE A LOT OF COMPLAINTS FOR THAT SPECIFIC PROBLEM NOTHING WOULD HAPPEN.I NOW THROW OUT THIS ISSUE TO YOU. HAS THIS BEEN A REPORTED ISSUE? IS IT STILL A PROBLEM? AFTER MY EXPERIENCES I FELT VERY UNSAFE IN THE CAR. WE WON'T GO INTO THE RESPONSE I RECEIVE FROM NISSAN CUSTOMER SERVICE OR THAT LEMON LAWS DO NOT APPLY TO THIS ISSUE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS DEEMED OKAY AND NOTHING FIXED.MY WRITING TO YOU IS BECAUSE THESE MODELS RECEIVED AWARDS FOR SAFETY.
I HAVE A 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA THROWING CVT TRANSMISSION CODES. THE CAR ACCELERATES QUICKLY TO HIGH RPM'S AND YOU HAVE TO TAKE YOUR FOOT OFF THE GAS TO MAKE THE CAR DRIVE PROPERLY. NISSAN IS FULLY AWARE OF THE CVT TRANSMISSION ISSUES AS THEY HAVE AN EXTENDED MANUFACTURER WARRANTY UP TO 120K MILES. HOWEVER, IT CAPS OFF AT 2010 MODELS. I WAS TOLD MY VIN IS NOT COVERED. I CALLED NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS, BUT CURRENTLY JUMPING HOOPS TO SEE IF THIS IS COVERED. IF NISSAN WANTS TO SELL VEHICLES WITH CVT TRANSMISSIONS, THEIR WARRANTY SHOULD BE EXTENDED FOR ALL MODELS AND YEARS. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED. WE SHOULD NOT HAVE TO BARE COSTS OF 3000-5500 TO REPLACE A FAULTY TRANSMISSION. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL. CURRENTLY, NISSAN JUST WAITS TO SEE IF A PROBLEM ARISES. THEY WILL MOST LIKELY NOT COVER THIS. I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED ABOUT PROBLEMS WITH THE CVT TRANSMISSION. MY CAR HAS 110K MILES AND SHOULD NOT NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION. I HAVE MAINTAINED MY VEHICLE. THIS IS UNFAIR PRACTICE TO CONSUMERS AND FIND IT APPALLING THAT YOU SPEND THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS ON A BRAND NEW VEHICLE ONLY TO HAVE A BAD TRANSMISSION THAT WILL BREAK SOONER RATHER THAN LATER. I HAVE READ NUMEROUS CONSUMER COMPLAINTS FROM NISSAN OWNERS HAVING CVT TRANSMISSION ISSUES WITH DIFFERENT MILEAGE COUNTS AND MODELS. ALL NISSAN OWNERS SHOULD BE MADE AWARE AND ALL SHOULD HAVE THE EXTENDED MANUFACTURER WARRANTY. IF THE TRANSMISSION IS CAUSING PROBLEMS IN SO MANY NISSAN VEHICLES, ITS NOT THE OWNER. IT IS CLEARLY THE MANUFACTURER. NISSAN SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY AND REPLACE BAD CVT TRANSMISSIONS WHEN PROBLEMS ARISE. I AM TRULY SURPRISED NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE YET AFTER READING NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM FROM NISSAN OWNERS. IF AUTOMOBILE COMPANIES WANT TO CONTINUE SELLING CVT TRANSMISSIONS, THEY SHOULD HAVE BETTER WARRANTIES. I WILL NEVER BUY A VEHICLE WITH CVT TRANSMISSION AGAIN.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE TOLLWAY AND I HEARD A LOUD NOISE AS IF SOMEONE HAD PULLED THE HOOD RELEASE AND SAW THAT MY HOOD WAS FLUTTERING UP AND DOWN. WHEN I CAME TO A STOP, MY HOOD HAD IN FACT POPPED OPEN AND I HAD TO SLAM THE HOOD BACK SHUT. FORTUNATELY IT DID NOT POP OPEN FULLY TO WHERE IT WAS AGAINST MY WINDSHIELD AND BLOCKING MY VIEW. I THINK THERE MAY BE A PROBLEM WITH THE HOOD LATCH.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH ON WET PAVEMENT, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND FAILED TO RESPOND WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO AVOID A CRASH. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24,000.
I OWN A 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE PROBLEM I'VE BEEN HAVING SINCE I GOT MY CAR IS WHEN THE SPEEDOMETER HITS 35MPH IT PULLS BACK THE RPM DROPS AND LOSES SPEED. ALSO WHEN I AM IN TRAFFIC I STEP ON THE GAS GENTLY AND THE CAR JERKS IT FEELS LIKE A STICK SHIFT CAR WHEN YOUR UP SHIFTTING. IT FEELS SO UNCOMFORTABLE KNOWING MY CAR MOVES IN EXAGGERATED WAY. ANOTHER THING IT HAS IS THE RPM REV HIGH WHEN I GENTLY PRESSING ON THE GAS PEDAL I HAVE TO LET GO OF THE GAS PEDAL AND PRESS GENTLY AGAIN I HAVE TO REPEAT THAT 2-3 TIMES FOR THE RPM TO BE AT NORMAL IT HAS WASTE GAS BY DOING THIS. I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR TO TWO DEALERSHIP THE FIRST TOLD ME THAT IT WAS NORMAL FOR MY CAR TO DO THAT I WAS NOT SATISFIED ON HOW MY CAR WAS ACTING. I TOOK IT BACK SEVERAL TIMES THEY FINALLY SAID IT COULD BE THE TRANSMISSION MY CAR IS UNDER THE 60,000 MILE WARRANTY THE DEALERSHIP CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURE AND THEY DENY TO REPLACE MY TRANSMISSION. I TOOK MY CAR TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP EXPLAIN THE PROBLEM MY CAR WAS DOING AND THE GUY THAT WAS GOING TO DO MY PAPERWORK AUTOMATICALLY SAID IT'S YOUR TRANSMISSION. HE TOLD ME TO LEAVE MY CAR AND THEY WERE GOING TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. I LEFT MY CAR FOR ALMOST A WEEK. IN THAT TIME I WAS WAITING I CALLED LIKE 3-4 TIMES TO ASK ABOUT MY CAR THE ONLY ANSWER I GOT FROM THE WAS WE'LL CALL YOU BACK IN A FEW AND NEVER CALLED ME . I STRUGGLED TO GET ON TIME TO WORK AND TO MY COLLEGE CLASSES SINCE I HAD TO TAKE PUBLIC TRANSPORATION. I FINALLY WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO CHECK UP ON MY CAR AND THEY DIDN'T DO ANYTHING TO MY CAR. MY CAR IS STILL UNDER THE 60,000 MILE WARRANTY WITH THE SAME PROBLEM AND THE DEALERSHIP WONT DO ANY THING ABOUT MY CAR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHAKE AND THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL RATTLING SOUND. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC BUT THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 11V371000 (SUSPENSION), HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 44,253.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER THE ATTEMPTING TO START THE VEHICLE, THE PUSH TO START BUTTON FAILED TO OPERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE WITH ADULT PASSENGER IN FRONT RIGHT SEAT "PASSENGER AIRBAG OFF " LIGHT WAS ON. WHEN OPERATING WITH NO PASSENGERS LIGHT IS OFF INDICATING THE AIRBAG IS WORKING. I IMMEDIATELY BROUGHT VEHICLE TO MY MECHANIC WHO SCANNED SYSTEM AND COULD OT FIND ANY CODES. AFTER READING SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ON NHTSA REGARDING THIS ISSUE I FEEL NISSAN NEEDS TOIMPLEMENT A SERVICE RECALL. AS I AND I AM SURE OTHERS DO NOT FEEL SAFE OPERATING VEHICLE WITH MY CHILDREN. WE WERE OPERATING SAID VEHICLE ON CITY STREETS UNDER 30 MPH WHEN FIRST NOTICED HOWEVER THIS PROBLEM IS CONSISTENT ON HIGHWAYS AT HIGHER SPEEDS AS WELL.
AFTER A HEAVY RAIN THE REAR FLOORBOARD AND CARPET IS WET PASSENGER SIDE. CAN ALSO HEAR SLOSHING NOISES FROM EITHER THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR PANEL OR UNDER THE REAR CARPET. WINDOWS UP TIGHT, DOOR SEALS LOOK GOOD. SEATS ARE NOT WET. JUST FLOOR. NO SUNROOF.
KEYLESS START- I LEFT THE VEHICLE WITH THE KEY FOB, THE CAR WAS DRIVEN APPROX. 2 MILES AWAY WITHOUT THE KEY. WHEN THE PERSON DRIVING REALIZED THIS, THEY DIDN'T TURN THE CAR OFF AND CAME BACK. THE CAR NEVER SHUT DOWN, BUT DID START TO SHUTTER A BIT.
WHEN PASSENGER (APPROX 150 LBS) SITTING IN PASSENGER SEAT, AIR BAG LIGHT OFF. THIS OCCURRED JANUARY 2012, NOTICED AGAIN 5/2012, BOTH TIMES TOOK TO DEALER. CONTACTED NISSAN DIRECTLY 8/2013. WANT THIS ISSUE DOCUMENTED AS IT'S NOT CONSISTENT; THEREFORE, WHEN YOU TAKE TO DEALER THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE THIS AND DO NOTHING.
I HAVE A NISSAN ALTIMA (2011) AND MY SISTER HAS A NISSAN MURANO (2013?). BOTH CARS REMAIN RUNNING WHEN THE "SMART KEY" IS REMOVED. MY CAR BEEPS 3 TIMES IF I GET OUT WITH THE KEY WHEN IT IS RUNNING, BUT NOT MUCH NOTIFICATION. I HAVE NOT HAD A PROBLEM YET, BUT MY SISTER, IN HER 80'S, HAS LEFT HER CAR RUNNING FOR HOURS FREQUENTLY SINCE SHE BOUGHT THE MURANO (AT LEAST 5 TIMES). WE BOTH KEEP OUR CARS IN A CLOSED IN BASEMENT AND IF LEFT RUNNING COULD BE DEADLY. OUR BEDROOMS ARE DIRECTLY OVER THE GARAGE. IT SEEMS LIKE A SIMPLE TIMER COULD BE USED TO TURN THE CAR OFF IF THE KEY IS REMOVED FOR MORE THAN 5 MINUTES. AN OVER RIDE COULD BE PUT ON THE OPTION IF THE OWNER WANTS IT TO RUN LONGER FOR WINTER WARM-UPS OR WHATEVER. THE SOONER THE AUTO COMPLEX FIXES THIS THE FEWER RECALLS IN THE FUTURE. I REALLY WORRY ABOUT MY SISTER AND OTHERS NOT AS TECH SAVVY OR MAYBE WITH MEMORY/ATTENTION ISSUES. THE INCIDENT DATE ABOVE IS CLOSE TO THE DATE THAT I BOUGHT THE CAR NEW, SINCE THIS ISSUE EXISTED THE DAY THAT I BOUGHT IT. I WAS NOT AWARE OF THE DANGER UNTIL MY SISTER REPEATEDLY LEFT HERS RUNNING UNKNOWINGLY. I'M SURE THAT YOU ARE AWARE THAT THIS PROBLEM MAY NOT BE NISSAN SPECIFIC AND ALL COMPANIES WILL NEED TO FIX IT. THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND THERE WAS A LOUD RATTLING NOISE AND VIBRATION COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 11V371000 (SUSPENSION). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 33,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE DRIVING AT 65 MPH, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE JERKED UNCONTROLLABLY AND SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
I WAS INVOLVED IN A COLLISION WITH A 2014 DODGE RAM AND IT WAS A FRONT IMPACT COLLISION. MY CAR WAS TOTALLED ( THE IMPACT EVEN CRUMBLED THE REAR QUARTER PANEL) BUT THE AIRBAG ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE DID NOT DEPLOY. THE REPAIR COMPANY WAS CONFUSED WITH THE AMOUNT OF DAMAGE TO MY VEHICLE AND THE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. II SUSTAINED INJURIES TO MY NECK, BACK AND LEFT SIDE. I STILL HAVE BACK PAIN BUT I'M GETTING BETTER. CONFUSED AS TO WHY THE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. *TR
I WAS TRAVELING WITH 2 SMALL CHILDREN ON A STRAIGHT WAY ON HWY AND THE FRONT TIRE BLEW IN THE SIDEWALL OF MY MICHELIN TIRE. I WAS PULLED ACROSS THE OTHER LANE INTO A DITCH STRIKING A STONE CULVERT AFTER GOING AIRBORNE. I HAD PURCHASED A SET OF MICHELIN TIRES AND THEY WERE A 70,000 MILE TIRE AND HAD 23,000 MILES ON THEM WHEN THIS OCCURRED. AFTER INVESTIGATION IT WAS DETERMINED A BLOWOUT AS THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO WHEEL INDICATION OF ROAD HAZARD THAT WOULD HAVE CAUSED THIS TYPE OF DAMAGE TO TIRE. IN OTHER WORDS, THE TIRE AND WHEEL WERE IN PERFECT CONDITION OTHER THAT THE BLOWN PART IN THE SIDEWALL AND IF I WOULD HAVE HIT SOMETHING HARD ENOUGH TO CAUSE THE TIRE THAT TYPE OF DAMAGE, THEY SAID IT WOULD HAVE DEFINITELY AFFECTED MY WHEEL. THE TIRE HAD TO BE DEFECTIVE AS THERE IS REPORTS ARE ALL OVER INTERNET THAT THESE INCIDENTS ARE OCCURRING WITH MICHELIN TIRES. BUYER BEWARE! MY CAR WAS A TOTAL LOSS. I AM WITHOUT WORK AND WITHOUT A CAR NOW. *TR
THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT LIT ON THE DASHBOARD. THE ASSOCIATED ENGINE CODE WAS P2A00 AND BOTH THE UPSTREAM (AIR/FUEL RATIO) AND DOWNSTREAM (OXYGEN) AIR SENSORS HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE REPAIR COST CLOSE TO $1,000 PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS AFTER MANY OTHER COSTLY REPAIRS, INCLUDING MOST RECENTLY ANOTHER FILING WITH THE NHTSA REGARDING ISSUES WITH THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM WHERE THE RACK & PINION HAD TO BE REPLACED. WHILE THE CAR HAS A LOT OF MILES, THEY'RE MAINLY HIGHWAY MILES AND THE CAR HAS BEEN EXTREMELY WELL MAINTAINED. ADDITIONALLY PLEASE NOTE: THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WAS REPLACED ~33K MILES AGO. DURING THIS REPLACEMENT, SUPPOSEDLY, THE AFOREMENTIONED SENSORS SHOULD'VE BEEN CHECKED AND POSSIBLY REPLACED. *TR
THIS IS AN INCIDENT THAT HAS OCCURRED MULTIPLE TIMES, MOST RECENTLY ON 2/23/15. CAR WOULD NOT START IN COLDER WEATHER. REPLACED BATTERY IN JANUARY OF 2014 FINE FOR AWHILE. HAPPENED AGAIN IN DECEMBER 2014. GOT JUMP START AND TOOK TO REPAIR SHOP. COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. STARTED FINE FOR SHOP. JANUARY 2015, INCIDENT OCCURRED AGAIN WHERE CAR WOULD NOT START. BROUGHT BACK TO REPAIR SHOP, SAID I HAD A FAULTY BATTERY. BATTERY REPLACED. FEBRUARY 2015, LESS THAN 3 WEEKS AFTER NEW BATTERY PUT IN, CAR STARTS FINE. STOPPED FOR GAS NOT EVEN 2 MINUTES LATER. TRYING TO START CAR AFTER FILLING UP, CAR WILL NOT START. STEERING WHEEL IS IN LOCKED POSITION, BRAKES ARE LOCKED UP, RED LIGHT FLASHING AS ON DASH AS IF THERE IS NO KEY IN THE CAR. LOCKS WERE NOT RESPONSIVE TO EITHER MANUAL BUTTON ON DOOR NOR WITH KEY FOB. IGNITION WOULD NOT EVEN COME CLOSE TO TURNING OVER. NO LIGHTS WOULD TURN ON. CAR WAS JUST DEAD. HAD TO TOW TO REPAIR SHOP, WHERE MECHANIC SAID BATTERY WAS COMPLETELY DEAD. IT WAS BRAND NEW 3 WEEKS AGO!!!! STILL DON'T KNOW THE REAL ROOT OF THE PROBLEM. NO ONE CAN FIND ANYTHING ELSE WRONG WITH IT. HAVE READ SEVERAL OTHER POSTS WITH SIMILAR SITUATIONS AND IT SEEMS THAT NISSAN FIXING THE BCM IS THE ONLY THING THAT SEEMS TO WORK IN THE LONG RUN. THIS IS SOMETHING THEY SHOULD BE MANDATED TO DO!!!! CAR IS BARELY 4 YEARS OLD AND HAS HAD THIS PROBLEM FOR OVER A YEAR. RIDICULOUS! NISSAN NEEDS TO OWN UP TO THEIR FAULTY "NO KEY" IGNITION SYSTEM. *TR
AIR CONDITIONER STOPPED WORKING DURING NORMAL USE. THE COIL TO THE COMPRESSOR IS FRIED AND WILL NOT TURN ON THE A/C EVEN THOUGH IT HAS WORKING AMOUNTS OF FREON AND ALL OTHER EQUIPMENT IN A/C SYSTEM IS GOOD. *TR
I AM CURRENTLY IN THE ARMY. I AM CONDUCTING TRAINING AT FORT SILL, OK AND MY WIFE IS IN NORTH CAROLINA WHERE I ACTUALLY WORK. MY WIFE DROPPED THE KIDS OFF AT THEIR SCHOOLS AND WENT TO THE STORE WHERE THE CAR WAS RUNNING FINE AND WAS HAVING NO ISSUES. WHEN SHE RETURNED TO THE CAR TO START IT, THE STEERING WHEEL WAS LOCKED, BRAKES WERE LOCKED, DASHBOARD LIGHTS WOULD NOT COME ONE, HAD THE RED BLINKING CAR WITH KEY SYMBOL AND THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS SAYING LOCKED, SHE WAS STUCK IN TOWN, NO WAY TO PICK UP OUR KIDS, AND NO WAY TO GET BACK HOME. ENDED UP PAYING TOW TRUCK TO TAKE CAR TO THE HOUSE, CHANGED BATTERIES IN KEY FOB. CHECKED THE BATTERY, AND NOTHING HAS FIXED IT. I HAVE DONE SOME RESEARCH ON THIS ISSUE AND THERE ARE A MULTITUDE OF COMPLAINTS ON THIS. THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED NOW, I WOULD BE A LOT MORE FURIOUS IF IT WOULD HAVE BEEN MY WIFE ALONG WITH BOTH OF MY SONS THAT ARE 4 AND 2. THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN STUCK THERE IN THE COLD WITH NO WAY HOME AT THAT TIME. NISSAN NEEDS TO GET OFF THEIR BUTTS AND TAKE RESPONSIBILITY ON THEIR CAR DEFECTS. THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM AND POTENTIALLY BE A HAZARD IF THIS HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING. PLEASE PUSH TO GET THIS ISSUE FIXED BEFORE SOMEONE DOES GET HURT. DO A SEARCH ON 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA WITH STEERING WHEEL LOCKING AND NOT STARTING YOU WILL BE AMAZED AT ALL THESE COMPLAINTS.NOW MY WIFE HAS TO WAIT UNTIL I GET BACK FROM TRAINING TO GET THE CAR FIXED. GETTING IT FIXED HERSELF IS IMPOSSIBLE DUE TO MY 4 YEAR OLD BE AUTISTIC. I AM BEGGING FOR YOUR HELP AND TO LOOK INTO THIS ISSUE FOR EVERYONE'S SAFETY. *TR
THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL TIMES THE CAR WAS UNABLE TO START AND UNABLE TO BE SHUT OFF WITHOUT HAVING TO BE TOWED. THEY CLAIMED IT WAS A BATTERY ISSUE, BUT THE CAR ALMOST ACTED LIKE IT WAS ENCOUNTERING A SOFTWARE CRASH BOTH TIMES. I'VE HAD TO HAVE THE EXHAUST / CATALYTIC CONVERTER REPLACED ON THE CAR. I'VE HAD SEVERAL MAJOR STEERING PROBLEMS. AT ONE POINT, A TIE ROD HAD TO BE REPLACED ON THIS CAR. THE LATEST STEERING ISSUE JUST OCCURRED IN THE LAST FEW WEEKS. ON JANUARY 16, I TOOK A ROAD TRIP WITH MY FIANCE AND HER SISTER TO MEMPHIS, TN TO VISIT HER OTHER SISTER. ON THE WAY DOWN WE NOTICED THE CAR WAS DIFFICULT TO STEER. UPON INSPECTION, WE FOUND THE POWER STEERING FLUID WAS LOW. WE REPLACED IT. HOWEVER, WE FOUND IT STRANGE GIVEN THE EXCELLENT MAINTENANCE ON THE CAR. AS WE DROVE, THE STEERING ISSUES RECURRED. WE FIGURED OUT THERE WAS A LEAK IN THE SYSTEM. WE BOUGHT A LOT OF POWER STEERING FLUID IN ORDER TO MAKE IT TO MEMPHIS (THERE WEREN'T MANY MAJOR CITIES ON OUR WAY BETWEEN WHERE WE CAME FROM AND MEMPHIS, SO WE HAD TO GET TO MEMPHIS.) SEVERAL MECHANICS CONFIRMED THE ISSUE WAS THE RACK & PINION SYSTEM ON THE CAR. THE DEALERSHIP THAT ULTIMATELY REPAIRED THE CAR MENTIONED THIS BRAKE WAS HIGHLY UNUSUAL, NOT DUE TO POOR MAINTENANCE, AND NOT DUE TO ROAD HAZARDS. SINCE THE CAR IS NOT OUT OF WARRANTY, I HAD TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR MYSELF. GIVEN THE OTHER MAJOR REPAIRS THAT HAVE OCCURRED IN THE SHORT TIME I'VE HAD THIS CAR, ESPECIALLY GIVEN THE VERY DILIGENT MAINTENANCE I'VE BEEN PERFORMING ON THE CAR AND DESPITE THE MANY MILES ALREADY ON IT, I BELIEVE I'VE BEEN SOLD A LEMON. AS A RESULT OF THIS COSTLY REPAIR, I'LL PROBABLY HAVE TO SELL A PORTION OF MY 401K. I ADDITIONALLY HAD ADDED EXPENSES SENDING MY FIANCE AND HER SISTER BACK HOME SO THEY COULD GO TO WORK, ROOM & BOARD, CAR RENTAL, AND LOST A DAY OF WORK. *TR
STEERING WHEEL IS PEELING ON THE TOP AND IS SOFT TO THE POINT WHERE AT ANY GIVEN MOMENT THE FOAM WILL BE IN MY HAND.THE CAR WAS A CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED VEHICLE BY NISSAN AND BOUGHT AT NISSAN. THEY REVIEWED THE DEFECT TO BE REPLACED AT "GOODWILL" BUT IT DID NOT QUALIFY AS A REASON TO A REPLACE; EVEN THOUGH IT IS A POTENTIAL DANGER TO THE DRIVER OF THE VEHICLE. *TR
MY ALTIMA FAILED TO RESPOND TO THE START BUTTON AND EXHIBITED ALL ALARMS LIT ON THE DASHBOARD (INCLUDING ERRONEOUS INDICATIONS OF OPEN DOORS.) AAA SERVICE WAS FORBIDDEN BY AAA TO PROVIDE ANY SERVICE BEYOND BATTERY AND TOWING. AFTER BEING TOWED TO A TIRE SHOP, I BEGGED THE MECHANICS TO DETACH THE GROUND WIRE IN ORDER TO REBOOT THE COMPUTER. THIS WORKED! AN INTERNET SEARCH REVEALED THAT THIS CONDITION AND FIX WAS IDENTICAL TO ONES DESCRIBED IN SERVICE BULLETIN NTB12-041. MY COMPLAINT IS AGAINST THE DEALERSHIP (NISSAN BRIDGEWATER NJ) WHO FAILED TO APPLY THIS SOFTWARE PATCH WHEN IT FIRST APPEARED IN APRIL 2012 DESPITE MANY RETURNS I MADE TO THEM FOR ROUTINE WARRANTY SERVICE. THE OCCURRENCE OF THIS FAILURE AND CITATION OF THE SERVICE BULLETIN HAS BEEN REPORTED BY SEVERAL USERS IN NISSAN USER FORUMS. THIS IMPLIES THAT OTHER DEALERS ARE SIMILARLY NEGLIGENT IN KEEPING CARS CURRENT WITH SERVICE BULLETINS APPLICABLE TO THEIR VEHICLE. *TR
I WAS IN A BUMPER TO BUMPER ACCIDENT AND THE FRONT END OF MY CAR WAS SMOOCHED IN. MY CHEST HIT THE STEERING WHEEL (MY SEAT BELT WAS BUCKLED) KNOCKING THE AIR OUT OF ME, BUT MY AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. WE HAVE TAKEN OUR CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THE PASSENGER AIRBAG SENSOR. EVERY TIME WE GET IT BACK WE GET THE SAME ANSWER "WE DON'T SEE ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE SENSOR". WE RECENTLY TOOK OUR CAR IN 2 WEEKS PRIOR TO THE ACCIDENT AND WE ASKED THEM IF OUR CAR WAS ON THE AIR BAG RECALL LIST THAT WAS ALL OVER THE NEWS. THEY TOLD US NOT TO WORRY ABOUT ANYTHING BECAUSE OUR CAR WAS NOT ON THAT LIST. I ENDED UP IN URGENT CARE AFTER THE ACCIDENT WITH MUSCLES SPASMS AND A BRUISED CHEST. WHY DIDN'T MY AIRBAGS GO OFF?! *TR

I WAS TRAVELING ON THE 60W IN MORENO VALLEY. THE TEMPERATURE WAS ABOUT 90, IT WAS PRETTY DRY AND HOT. I WAS CRUISING ALONG AT 70 MPH WITH MY BROTHER, INFANT NIECE AND 10 YEAR OLD SON. WHEN ALL OF THE SUDDEN THE SPEED JUST DROPPED TO ABOUT 35 MPH, DUE TO THERE NOT BEING ANY WARNING AT ALL (NO ERROR LIGHTS OR BRAKE LIGHTS), THE CAR BEHIND US NEARLY REAR ENDED US. THEY HAD TO SWERVE SO SUDDENLY IT ALMOST CAUSED THEM TO CRASH INTO THE CAR NEXT TO US. I ENDED UP PULLING OVER FOR A FEW MINUTES, EVERYTHING SEEMED TO BE FINE, SO WE CONTINUED THE DRIVE HOME. ABOUT 8 MILES DOWN THE ROAD, THE CAR'S SPEED DROPPED AGAIN. THIS TIME I WAS ALREADY IN THE SLOW LANE AND WAS ABLE TO AVOID ANY NEAR CRASHES. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO NISSAN IN CORONA CA. AFTER A COUPLE DAYS, THEY WERE ABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM BEING THE CVT. I FEEL THERE SHOULD BE SOME SORT OF A RECALL ON THE ALTIMA CVT. NISSAN HAS BEEN AWARE OF THE POTENTIAL PROBLEM WITH THE SPEED REDUCING WHILE THE CVT GOES INTO SAFE MODE WITHOUT ANY WARNING TO THE DRIVER OR OTHERS ON THE ROAD. NISSAN HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS ISSUE FOR QUITE SOME TIME, BUT THEY DO NOT SEEM TO CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMER'S SAFETY AND WELL-BEING. *TR
ON JUNE 26, 2014 AROUND 8PM, THE CAR BEGAN TO ABRUPTLY LOSE ACCELERATION. I WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE PAST 25MPH. I FORTUNATELY MADE IT HOME THAT EVENING, BUT FRIDAY, JUNE 27, 2014; THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AT ALL. THE ENGINE WOULD NOT REV IN ANY GEAR AND I WAS ALMOST STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF I95S DURING LUNCHTIME RUSH HOUR. I UNFORTUNATELY HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED TO CHAPMAN NISSAN, WHERE I WAS TOLD THAT THEY WOULD ATTEMPT TO LOOK AT MY CAR ON MONDAY, JUNE 30. I CALLED ON MONDAY, JUNE 30 AND DID NOT RECEIVE A RESPONSE UNTIL 230PM, WHERE I WAS TOLD THAT THE TRANSMISSION ON THE CAR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I IMMEDIATELY FILED A COMPLAINT WITH NISSAN THE MANUFACTURER AS THIS WAS EXTREMELY UNEXPECTED ON A 3 YEAR OLD VEHICLE. I RECEIVED A VOICE MESSAGE FROM A REGIONAL COMPLAINT MANAGER ON JULY 1 WHO STATED THAT SHE WOULD CALL BACK ON JULY 2. I HAVE CALLED EVERY BUSINESS DAY SINCE JULY 2 WITH NO ADEQUATE RESPONSE FROM NISSAN. IN DOING MY RESEARCH FOR NISSAN ALTIMA TRANSMISSION ISSUES, I DISCOVERED THAT THIS "WAS" A COMMON ISSUE FROM 2006-2010, WHERE THEY EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON THE TRANSMISSION TO 120K MILES. IN 2011, THEY REDUCED THE WARRANTY TO 60K MILES. HOWEVER, WHAT NISSAN FAILED TO DO WAS ALERT OWNERS, THAT THEY HAD ISSUED "SERVICE BULLETINS" TO THEIR DEALERSHIPS DOCUMENTING THE EXACT PROBLEM I HAD EXPERIENCED ON JUNE 27. THE SERVICE BULLETIN NOTICES ARE: 336174, 361957, NTB10121, NTB1012057. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, A FABRIC TYPE MATERIAL FROM THE REAR WHEEL FENDER WELL WOULD MAKE CONTACT WITH BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE REAR TIRES. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE REAR WHEEL FENDER LINERS WERE DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
PASSENGER AIRBAG SENSOR INDICATING NOT ON WHILE ADULT SITTING IN SEAT. TOOK CAR BACK TO DEALER SEVERAL TIME WOULD NOT DUPLICATE. 2 TIMES THEY SAID THY FIX IT. CARS SHOULD BE ON RECALL. DEALER SAID THY COULD NOT HELP. *TR
2011 NISSAN ALTIMA. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO BRAKING SYSTEM SERVICE BULLETIN. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED WHEN HE RECEIVED THE SERVICE CAMPAIGN AND SERVICE BULLETIN, IN THE MAIL HE WAS NOT EXPERIENCING ANY PROBLEMS. HOWEVER, IN NOVEMBER 2013, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO DISPLAY SOME OF THE IDENTIFYING PROBLEMS ASSOCIATED WITH THE SERVICE CAMPAIGN. THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHT AND TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. ALSO, THE BRAKES WERE SQUEAKING AND OCCASIONALLY MADE A GRINDING NOISE. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND VALIDATED HIS COMPLAINT AND THEY REPLACED THE MASTER CYLINDER IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE SERVICE BULLETIN. HOWEVER, WHEN THE CONSUMER LEFT THE DEALER, THE BRAKES CONTINUED TO SQUEAK. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO ANOTHER DEALER, FOR ITS 45,000 RECOMMENDED SERVICE. HE ASKED THE DEALER TO CHECK THE BRAKES, AS THEY WERE STILL GRINDING AND SQUEAKING. AN INSPECTION REVEALED THE FRONT BRAKES WERE WORN TO A LEVEL OF 2MM, WHICH EXPLAINED THE SQUEAKING AND GRINDING. THE CONSUMER DID NOT BELIEVE, THE PREVIOUS DEALER INSPECTED THE BRAKES OR FALSIFIED THE MULTI-POINT INSPECTION RECORD. *JB UPDATED 07/29/14 UPDATED 07/30/14
THE CAR HAS LEFT ME STRANDED OVER 20 TIMES THIS PAST YEAR FROM NOT STARTING ( I'VE ONLY HAD THE CAR A YEAR). ALL THE LIGHTS WILL COME ON BUT WHEN I PUSH THE START BUTTON IT WON'T DO ANYTHING. IT WILL JUMP OFF AND MIGHT RUN FOR WEEKS BUT ALL OF A SUDDEN IT WILL FAIL ME AGAIN. I HAVE TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP A COUPLE OF TIMES(WHILE IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY) AND THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. I HAVE ALSO TOOK IT TO AUTOZONE SEVERAL TIMES (AFTER WARRANTY EXPIRED) TO FIND OUT THERE WASN'T A BATTERY ISSUE. I RESEARCHED ONLINE TO FIND MANY MANY MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT OTHERS DOING THE SAME THING WITH MOST OF THEM SAYING ITS A SOFTWARE PROBLEM. I FEEL THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN TAKEN CARE OF WHILE THE CAR WAS STILL UNDER THE FACTORY WARRANTY. *TR
I HAD NOTICED THAT REGARDLESS OF OCCUPANCY, THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG INDICATOR NEVER LIT UP AFTER INITIAL TESTING ON START-UP. IN LATE JAN 2014, I WAS T-BONED ON PASSENGER SIDE BY MERCEDES WHOSE SPEED WAS SUCH THAT HIS AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. EVEN THOUGH I HAD NO ONE WITH ME OCCUPYING MY PASSENGER SEAT, THE SIDE CURTAIN AND SEAT BAG DEPLOYED, ADDING MANY HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS TO REPAIR. *TR
WHILE DRIVING IN CITY TRAFFIC, THE CAR STARTED TO STALL. DRIVER PARKED THE CAR ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND WALKED TO WORK TO AVOID HAVING THE CAR DIE IN A BUSY INTERSECTION. NONE OF THE DASHBOARD WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON TO INDICATE A PROBLEM. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO RETRIEVE THE CAR THAT EVENING, IT COULD NOT BE STARTED AND HAD TO BE TOWED TO A MECHANIC. DESPITE BEING ONLY 3-YEARS OLD AND HAVING GONE JUST 60,022 MILES, THE MECHANIC DISCOVERED THAT THE CAR HAD A CRACKED ENGINE BLOCK! THE ENGINE HAD BEEN WELL MAINTAINED INCLUDING OIL CHANGES EVERY 3,000 MILES. *TR
I WAS ENTERING A PARKING SPACE WHEN THE CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED CAUSING ME TO DRIVE OVER THE PARKING CURB AND INTO A SHRUB. I WAS PULLING SLOWLY INTO THE SPACE AND THE CAR JUST LURCHED FORWARD, I QUICKLY HIT THE BRAKE. FORTUNATELY I WAS NOT HURT AND THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO THE UNDERSIDE OF THE CAR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE BRAKES ARE DEPRESSED AND THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SIDE END BEGAN TO SHAKE ABNORMALLY. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT WHEN IT RAINED, THE VEHICLE WOULD EXHIBIT A LOUD GRINDING NOISE FROM THE PASSENGER'S SIDE FRONT END. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE ROTORS AND THE SHOCKS HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 19,425. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE ATTEMPTED TO START THE VEHICLE USING THE PUSH-TO-START BUTTON WHEN ALL OF THE LIGHTS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL ILLUMINATED BUT THE ENGINE WOULD NOT START. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHERE THEY STATED THAT A SENSOR NEEDED TO BE RESET. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE DID NOT KNOW WHAT THE SENSOR WAS BUT THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE HEADLIGHTS SHUT OFF INDEPENDENTLY. THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A POLE BECAUSE HE WAS UNABLE TO SEE WHILE TRYING TO PULL OVER AND PARK THE VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE LATER COULD NOT BE SHUT OFF USING THE PUSH-TO-START BUTTON. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, WHO T REPROGRAMMED THE BODY CONTROL MODULE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 23,000.
DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY ON MY 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA 2.5S AT ABOVE 65 MPH, THE PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON SHOWING IT WAS OFF/ DISABLED AND STAYED OFF FOR THE WHOLE TRIP DURATION - ABOUT 45 MINUTES. AIR BAG LIGHT LOCATION IS IN THE CENTER OF DASHBOARD AND SHOULD LIGHT UP WHEN IS DISABLED OR NO PERSON IS SITTING ON PASSENGER SEAT. THIS IS CLEARLY A MALFUNCTION AND SHOULD BE CORRECTED BY THE MANUFACTURER TO PROTECT HUMAN LIVES. AIR BAGS SAVE LIVES AND THEY SHOULD WORK ALL THE TIME NOT INTERMITTENTLY. *TR
PASSENGER SEAT AIRBAG SENSOR DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY ...NO MATTER THE WEIGHT OF THE PASSENGER UP TO 240 THE AIRBAG LIGHT REMAINS DISABLED....CONCERNED WITH THE SAFETY OF MY PASSENGERS CONSIDERING AIRBAG WILL NOT DEPLOY. *TR
I WAS DRIVING 65 MPH ON THE INTERSTATE WHEN THE CAR BEGAN TO LOSE POWER. ALL WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON, THE STEERING BECAME DISABLED AND THE CAR COASTED TO A STOP. SBRP215/55TR17 CONTINENTAL CONTI PRO CONTACT ALL-SEASON TIRES ON MY 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA COUPE. I'VE HAD ISSUES WITH THE TIRES AND THE CHECK TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT SINCE I PURCHASED IT IN OCTOBER 2010. I'VE HAD IT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS AND THE PROBLEM WAS NEVER COMPLETELY RESOLVED. THE LIGHT WAS A DAILY OCCURANCE AND AT 20K I CONSIDERED TRADING THE VEHICLE IN BECAUSE I DIDN'T FEEL COMFORTABLE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. IT FELT UNSAFE - EVEN ON DRY PAVEMENT. I FINALLY BOUGHT NEW TIRES AT 30K MILES BECAUSE I WAS TIRED OF HAVING TO PUT AIR IN THE TIRES EVERY MORNING. THAT IS HALF OF THE EXPECTED LIFE OF THE TIRES. THE TIRE HAD A LEAK THAT CAUSED MOISTURE TO GET INTO THE TIRE AND CORRODED THE SENSOR. NISSAN CLAIMS THEY WILL NOT REPLACE THE SENSORS IN COLD WEATHER CLIMATES EVEN THOUGH IT IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY AND I HAVE REPORTED THE TIRE ISSUE TO THEM NUMEROUS TIMES. THE WEATHER HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE SENSORS SEIZING. IF THE TIRES WERE NOT DEFECTIVE THE SENSORS WOULDN'T CORRODE. REPLACED TIRES AND SENSOR AT 30,990. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THE PUSH BUTTON IGNITION WOULD NOT START THE VEHICLE AT TIMES. THE CONTACT DID NOT TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER OR LOCAL MECHANIC FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA HYBRID. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35-40 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER. IN ADDITION, THE TIRES WOULD NOT RESPOND TO MOVEMENTS OF THE STEERING WHEEL. THE VEHICLE WAS LATER TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY ADVISED HER THAT THE RACK AND PINION FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 50,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE EXITING HIS VEHICLE IT CONTINUED GOING FORWARD. THE CONTACT HASTILY JUMPED BACK INTO THE VEHICLE TO STOP IT AND BROKE HIS WRIST IN THE PROCESS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT DUE TO THE VEHICLE NOT NEEDING A KEY TO START OR STOP IT CAUSED HIM TO GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE WHILE IT WAS STILL IN THE DRIVE POSITION. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE SAFETY CONCERN. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 20,000.
WHEN DRIVING SPEEDS AS LOW AS 25 MILES PER HOUR, THE BRAKES STARTED TO GRAB. I FIRST NOTICED THAT WHEN I DEPRESSED THE BRAKE, WHEN RELEASED, THE PEDAL SEEMED TO STICK, AS IF THERE WERE GUM ON THE BOTTOM OF MY SHOE, PERHAPS STICKING TO THE PEDAL. I CHECKED THE PEDAL AND IT WAS CLEAR. THEN I NOTICED THAT WHEN DRIVING AT SLOWER RATES OF SPEED, AS I EASED ON THE BRAKE, IT SEEMED TO DEPRESS AGAIN, THEN THE BRAKES WOULD GRAB HARDER. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER, THEY SAID IT WAS THE BRAKE BOOSTER--$700 ESTIMATE TO FIX. I DID NOT HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY, SO I TOOK IT TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC, WHO EVALUATED THE ISSUE, AND CAME TO THE SAME CONCLUSION--BRAKE BOOSTER. HE SHOWED ME THAT IT WAS BUSTED. HE WAS CONSIDERABLY CHEAPER, SO I HAD HIM TO FIX THE BRAKE BOOSTER. IT FIXED THE ISSUE THAT I WAS FEELING IN THE PEDAL WHEN STOPPING, HOWEVER, THE BRAKES CONTINUED TO GRAB, EVEN AT SLOWER RATES OF SPEED (<25MPH). AT SLOWER SPEEDS, THE BRAKES GRABBED HARD ENOUGH TO THROW PASSENGERS FORWARD IN THE VEHICLE. HE CONTACTED NISSAN AND FOUND THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR MY MASTER CYLINDER, BUT ONLY IF IT WAS LEAKING. MY MASTER CYLINDER DID NOT APPEAR TO BE LEAKING, BUT IT IS QUITE OBVIOUS THAT IT HAS TO BE A FAULTY CYLINDER. I READ SEVERAL REPORTS OF NISSAN'S MASTER CYLINDERS LEAKING CAUSING THE BRAKE BOOSTER TO FAIL. THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP IN JONESBORO SAID THAT THEY WOULD REPLACE THE MASTER CYLINDER, BUT THE RECALL IS FOR LEAKING MASTER CYLINDERS ONLY. MY MC IS NOT LEAKING, AND THEREFORE, AS IT STANDS RIGHT NOW, IT IS NOT COVERED BY THE RECALL. *TR
WHEN DRIVER ATTEMPTED TO START VEHICLE, ALL WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON, ALL INTERIOR LIGHTS AND HEADLAMPS & RUNNING LIGHTS CAME ON, AND VEHICLE BECAME TOTALLY UNRESPONSIVE, STRANDING DRIVER & RUNNING DOWN BATTERY DUE TO INABILITY TO TURN ANY LIGHTS OFF OR TURN VEHICLE OFF. NO CONTROLS RELATED TO ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WERE CONTROLLABLE. SOME EXAMPLES INCLUDE: 1. POWER DOOR LOCK SWITCHES DID NOT FUNCTION (NO EFFECT FROM PRESSING). 2. POWER WINDOW SWITCHES DID NOT FUNCTION (NO EFFECT FROM PRESSING). 3. PRESSING THE VEHICLE POWER / IGNITION BUTTON (MODERN EQUIVALENT OF STARTING KEY SWITCH) DID NOT HAVE ANY EFFECT, WHETHER SHORT OR LONG DURATION PRESSES WERE USED, AND REGARDLESS OF DELAY BETWEEN KEY PRESSES. 4. HEADLIGHTS & RUNNING LIGHTS WERE ON REGARDLESS OF THE SWITCH POSITION OF THE HEADLIGHT CONTROL SWITCH. THIS RESULTED IN THE DRIVER BEING STRANDED. BECAUSE THE VEHICLE'S LIGHTING WOULD NOT TURN OFF, THE BATTERY RAN DOWN, DISABLING THE VEHICLE FURTHER. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A NISSAN DEALER. NISSAN SERVICEMAN INITIALLY REFUSED TO WRITE THE CUSTOMER PROBLEM DESCRIPTION AS PER THE CUSTOMER DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM. LATER, CUSTOMER CALLED BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP TO REQUEST THE CUSTOMER DESCRIPTION INCLUDE SPECIFIC AND CORRECT INFORMATION ALREADY PROVIDED BY THE CUSTOMER SUCH AS VEHICLE WAS "COMPLETELY UNRESPONSIVE WHILE ALL THE WARNING LIGHT CAME [REMAINED TURNED] ON THE VEHICLE. DOORS WOULD NOT LOCK OR UNLOCK.", THE DEALER REPORTED THAT THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN FOUND TSB NTB12-041. DEALER RECORD READS: "REPROGRAMMED [SIC] BCM UPDATE AS PER TSB. VEHICLE IS NOW OPERATING AS DESIGNED [SIC] AFTER UPDATE." VEHICLE HAS FUNCTIONED NORMALLY SINCE. *TR
2011 NISSAN ALTIMA. CONSUMER STATES PROBLEM WITH STARTING VEHICLE *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED HE WAS UNABLE TO UNLOCK ANY OF THE DOORS, A MESSAGE INDICATED THE DOOR WAS OPEN, BUT IT WAS TIGHTLY CLOSED. THE CONSUMER HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED. THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER NOTICED THE FAN WAS RUNNING. A DIAGNOSIS AT THE DEALER REVEALED A COMPUTER GLITCH.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN HE ATTEMPTED TO START THE VEHICLE, THE START BUTTON FAILED. THE START BUTTON WAS VERY LOOSE AND HAD TO BE CONTINUALLY PRESSED FOR TWO TO FIFTEEN MINUTES TO GET THE VEHICLE TO START. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSIS; HOWEVER THEY WERE UNABLE TO REPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO GET PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED AGAIN AND THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALER; HOWEVER ONCE AGAIN THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE REPLICATED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY WOULD REPLACE THE PUSH BUTTON ASSEMBLY. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 5,000.

VIN# - [XXX]. PURCHASED FROM NISSAN OF DOWNTOWN LA. PURCHASED NEW ALTIMA FROM DEALER ON 2/1/11. BEFORE I REFILLED THE CAR WITH FUEL THE "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON. I RETURNED THE CAR TO BE SERVICED ON 2/8/2011. I WAS INFORMED BY NISSAN THAT THE SES LIGHT WAS FROM NOT CLOSING THE GAS TANK TIGHT ENOUGH (EVEN THOUGH I STILL HAD NEVER REFUELED THE CAR SINCE I HAD PURCHASED IT). THE LIGHT INDICATOR WAS RESET BY NISSAN SERVICE AND LATER THAT DAY IT CAME BACK ON. ON 6/23/11 I TOOK THE CAR BACK IN FOR SERVICE AND INFORMED THEM OF THE RE-OCCURRING ISSUE WITH THE SES LIGHT. THEY RAN A DIAGNOSTIC CHECK FOR A FEW HOURS AND WHEN THEY BROUGHT THE CAR BACK THEY SAID THAT THY ADJUSTED A VALVE SETTING THAT THEY BELIEVE TO BE CAUSING THE ISSUE. UNFORTUNATELY ABOUT AN HOUR AFTER LEAVING THE SERVICE GARAGE THE SES LIGHT CAME BACK ON. ON 1/12/12 I RETURNED TO NISSAN SERVICE FOR SCHEDULED OIL CHANGE AND INFORMED THEM AGAIN OF THE RE-OCCURRING SES LIGHT TISSUE. THIS TIME THEY INFORMED ME THAT THEY WOULD NEED TO RUN A DIAGNOSTIC CHECK AGAIN. WHEN I RESPONDED THAT THE DIAGNOSTIC CHECK HAD FAILED TO RESOLVE OR IDENTIFY THE ISSUE LAST TIME THEY OFFERED NO OTHER ALTERNATIVE. TO DATE THE SES LIGHT HAS BEEN ON SINCE THE FIRST DAY I PURCHASED THE CAR AND HAS ESSENTIALLY REMAINED ON FOR ALMOST A YEAR. FURTHERMORE I HAVE RENTED A NISSAN ALTIMA 2011 MODEL ON SEVERAL BUSINESS TRIPS WHERE I HAVE HAD TO REFUEL THE CAR AND I HAVE NOT ENCOUNTERED THE SES INDICATOR. THIS LEADS ME TO FURTHER BELIEVE THAT THERE IS A SPECIFIC ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE I OWN. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR

I HAVE A NEW 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA SL WHICH I PARKED IN MY CHURCH PARKING LOT AND WENT INTO CHURCH. AT THE END OF MASS, AS I WAS LEAVING THE CHURCH AND WALKING TOWARD THE PARKING LOT, I USED MY AUTOMATIC START...THE CAR STARTED AND WAS WARMING UP. AS I APPROACHED MY RUNNING CAR, I WALKED IN FRONT OF THE CAR TO GET AROUND TO THE DRIVER'S SIDE. I OPENED THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR AND THE CAR ACCELERATED AND TOOK OFF MOVING FORWARD WITH NOBODY IN IT. I WAS HOLDING ONTO THE DOOR CHASING AFTER MY CAR TRYING TO JUMP IN AND PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE TO STOP THE CAR. I WAS UNSUCCESSFUL AS THE CAR RAN INTO ANOTHER CAR IN THE PARKING LOT AND CAME TO AN ABRUPT STOP. MY CAR WAS DAMAGED AND STILL RUNNING. THE PARKED CAR THAT IT HIT WAS DAMAGED. UPON IMPACT, I WAS THROWN AGAINST THE OPEN DOOR AND THEN ONTO THE PAVEMENT ON MY BACK/RIGHT SIDE. MANY PEOPLE WERE EXITING CHURCH AND GATHERED AROUND...IT IS FORTUNATE THAT NOBODY WAS HIT/RUN OVER BY THIS "RUN-AWAY" CAR. SOMEONE IN THE CROWD CALLED THE POLICE AND THE AMBULANCE...I WAS ON THE GROUND UNTIL BOTH ARRIVED. I WAS TREATED FOR MUSCLE AND SOFT TISSUE STRAIN/TRAUMA/ SPASMS. I MISSED A DAY OF WORK. MY INSURANCE COMPANY INVESTIGATED THE INCIDENT BUT WAS UNABLE TO ACCURATELY PIN BLAME ON THE RESPONSIBLE PARTY...THEY SAY THERE IS NOTHING ELSE THEY CAN DO. THE MANUFACTURER, NISSAN, HAD A COMPANY CALLED AUTO EXPRESS INSTALL AN AUTOMATIC START MECHANISM IN THE NEW CAR BEFORE DELIVERING THE CAR TO ME. RIGHT NOW, NISSAN IS BLAMING AUTO EXPRESS FOR A FAULTY "AUTOSTART MECHANISM" OR FAULTY INSTALLATION. AUTO EXPRESS IS BLAMING NISSAN FOR A FAULTY "PARK-NEUTRAL SWITCH." BOTTOM LINE: SOMETHING WAS DEFECTIVE...AND NOBODY WANTS TO ACCEPT BLAME. THE PARK-NEUTRAL SWITCH HAS BEEN CLEARED BY NISSAN. THE AUTOSTART HAS BEEN REMOVED BY AUTO EXPRESS. AUTO EXPRESS PAID FOR MY CAR REPAIRS AND RENTAL CAR. BOTH COMPANIES ARE AVOIDING ME... *TR
