TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 NISSAN MAXIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DASHBOARD WAS MELTING. COASTAL NISSAN (8519 OCEAN HWY, PAWLEYS ISLAND, SC 29585) WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INSPECTED THE VEHICLE BUT OFFERED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OVER THE WARRANTY COVERAGE. NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,376.
THE DASHBOARD IS MELTING, BECOMING STICKY AND EMITTING TERRIBLE ODOR; SURELY THAT IS PROBABLY HAZARDOUS TO HEALTH AS IT IS A SICKENING SMELL. WOULD LIKE TO HAVE THIS ISSUE ADDRESSED AS IT IS AN ODOR THAT IN UNBEARABLE FOR DRIVING LONG DISTANCE.
ON THE NIGHT OF FEBRUARY 16, MY TEENAGE DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING MY 2011 NISSAN MAXIMA WHEN SHE CAME TO A STOP AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT. WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN, SHE MOVED HER FOOT OFF THE BRAKE AND BEGAN TO ACCELERATE WHEN THE VEHICLE ALL OF A SUDDEN WOULD NOT MOVE. SHE APPLIED HER FOOT TO THE ACCELERATOR SEVERAL TIMES BUT THE VEHICLE STILL WOULD NOT MOVE. AFTER SEVERAL MORE ATTEMPTS, THE VEHICLE JERKED FORWARD IN A VIOLENT MANNER BUT LUCKILY, THERE WAS NO OTHER CAR AHEAD OF HER OR I'M AFRAID A MORE SERIOUS EVENT WOULD HAVE OCCURRED. THIS ALL HAPPENED RATHER ABRUPTLY, WITHOUT ANY ADVANCE WARNING OR INDICATION OF A POTENTIAL PROBLEM. THE NEXT DAY I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO MY LOCAL NISSAN SERVICE CENTER TO HAVE IT DIAGNOSED. THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED ME A CODE INDICATED 'TRANSMISSION FLUID PRESSURE LOW' (EVEN THOUGH IT CONTAINED PLENTY OF FLUID) AND ADVISED A COMPLETE TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT WAS NEEDED AT A COST OF $7,138. THIS WAS THE DIAGNOSIS DESPITE NO DASHBOARD WARNING OR SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT INDICATOR, AS I INDICATED ABOVE. UPON RETURNING HOME AND RESEARCHING THE ISSUE ONLINE, I DISCOVERED THAT THIS PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE VERY COMMON. I LEARNED THAT NISSAN HAS HAD MAJOR ISSUES WITH THE CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION (CVT), INCLUDING SEVERAL CLASS ACTION LAWSUITS AND OTHER LEGAL MATTERS WHICH SUBSEQUENTLY RESULTED IN NISSAN EXTENDING THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY ON 2003-2010 NISSAN VEHICLES AND SETTLING OTHER LAWSUITS FOR NEWER MODEL VEHICLES. HOWEVER, MODEL YEARS 2011 AND 2012 WERE NOT COVERED UNDER THESE SETTLEMENTS DESPITE HAVING THE SAME EXACT CVT. I HAVE REACHED OUT TO NISSAN NORTH AMERICA BUT THEY HAVE NOT ACKNOWLEDGED LIABILITY OR RESPONSIBILITY. SUCH A SHAME BECAUSE THE VEHICLE HAS NOT HAD ANY ISSUES UNTIL THIS INCIDENT. IT ONLY HAS 106,000 MILES BUT NOW I'M WORRIED ABOUT WHAT MIGHT HAPPEN IF IT IS BEING DRIVEN.
MY CAR IS VERY RELIABLE UNTIL NOW WITH ONLY 105,000 MILES? MY PROBLEM STARTED ABOUT SEPTEMBER 2020 WHEN I STARTED TO HEAR MY CAR MAKE A ROUGH SOUND SUDDENLY, LIKE A WINDING NOISE WHEN I ACCELERATE AND WHEN I LET OFF THE GAS AS WELL. I DIDN'T THINK MUCH OF IT UNTIL I TOOK IT TO A NISSAN DEALER TO HAVE THEM CHECK IT OUT. THEY CALLED ME THE NEXT DAY TELL ME I NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION AND ITS GOING TO BE AROUND $5,500. WHICH I DON'T HAVE ESPECIALLY IN THIS PANDEMIC. ALSO THEY TOLD ME IF I GET THE NEW TRANSMISSION IT ONLY COMES WITH 1 YEAR WARRANTY. NISSAN ONLY COVERS IT UNTIL 60,000 MILES WHICH I DON'T BELIEVE PEOPLE BUYING A NEW NISSAN EXPECT IT TO GO FURTHER THEN THAT! MY ISSUE IS THAT NISSAN IS PUTTING IN THESE FAULTY TRANSMISSIONS KNOWING THAT IT WILL FAIL SOON AND ONLY GIVE YOU 1 YEAR WARRANTY IF YOU DO REPLACE IT AFTER PAY 5,500?
MY CAR HAS LESS THAN 113,500 MILES AND STARTED LOSING POWER AND COASTING, THE SPEED WOULD FLUCTUATE AND SOMETHING SOUNDS LOOSE IN THE ENGINE. I TOOK IT TO LITHIA NISSAN IN FRESNO CA ON BLACKSTONE AND THEY TOLD ME THE CVT BELT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED THEREBY CAUSING THE CAR TO NEED A WHOLE NEW TRANSMISSION AT $5738.96. THE CAR WAS IN MOTION.
THIS IS MY THIRD NISSAN MAXIMA AND THEY ALL HAD THE SAME IDSUE WITH THE MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR. SET OFF CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND MAKES CAR HESITATE WHEN ACCERLERATING. MY MOM OWNS A 2013 MAXIMA 45000 MILES AND HAS THE SAME ISSUE WITH CHECK ENGINE LIGHT.
IT'S HOT IN FLORIDA AND MY DASHBOARD IS MELTING
I NOTICED THE CAMERA NOT WORKING WHEN I WAS BACKING INTO MY GARAGE AFTER WORK. THEN AGAIN THE NEXT DAY WHEN I WAS BACKING INTO MY PARKING SPACE AT WORK. IT COMES AND GO NOW. I'M NOT SURE WHY IT STARTED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 NISSAN MAXIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE SHUT DOWN AND THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LANDERA NISSAN DEALER, LOCATED AT: 371 E. GOODMAN RD, SOUTH HAVEN, MS 38671 WHERE THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED. THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE CANNON NISSAN OF BLYTHEVILLE DEALER, LOCATED AT: 305 N SERVICE RD, BLYTHEVILLE, AR 72315, WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT NOTHING COULD BE DONE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
THE PASSENGER OCCUPANT SENSOR FAILED, I WAS IN A AUTO ACCIDENT THAT REQUIRED MY FRONT BUMPER, AC CONDESOR AND RADIATOR TO BR REPLACED. AFTER GETTING IT FIXED I NOTICED MY SEATBELT LIGHT WAS BLINKING, I THOUGHT MAYBE IT WOULD GO AWAY. I GOT IT SCANNED TURNS OUT THE PASSENGER OCCUPANT SENSOR WENT OUT AND CAUSED ALL THE AIRBAGS TO TURN OFF.
TRANSMISSION BELT DISINTEGRATED. LOTS OF POWER IN DRIVE. SHAKING, HESITATING WHEN DRIVING. FINALLY WOULD BARELY MOVE.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE, MY TRANSMISSION SUDDENLY STARTED SLIPPING OUT OF GEAR. THIS CAUSED THE CAR TO SUDDENLY SLOW, ALMOST BEING REAR ENDED BY THE CAR BEHIND ME. NISSAN KNOWS ABOUT THESE PROBLEMS, BUT REFUSES TO FIX ALL OF THEM. THEY HAVE SETTLED THOUSANDS OF CLAIMS OUT OF COURT FOR THIS PROBLEM. THEY STILL CLAIM THEIR CVTS TRANSMISSION IS NOT DEFECTIVE.
MY DASH HAS BEEN STARTING TO MELT THE LAST TWO YEARS AND NOW THE SHINE FROM THE MELTING DASH ON THE WINDSHIELD MAKES IT VERY HARD TO SEE THUR WINDSHIELD WITH THE SHINE THAT IS ON IT
DRIVING ON INTERSTATE 65 MPH AROUND 7:00 AM, THE CAR STARTED TO SHAKE AND WAS DIFFICULT TO CONTROL, THEN STOPPED SHAKING AND THE TIRE LIGHT CAME ON. I WAS ABLE TO GET VEHICLE TO DISCOUNT TIRE. TIRE WAS SHREDDED AND REQUIRED REPLACEMENT. TIRE WAS THE PIRELLI CINTURATO STRADA AS 245/45 R18 100V
MY DASHBOARD IS MELTING. IT'S EXTREMELY STICKY AND I IF I TOUCH IT, OR PUT SOMETHING ON IT, BLACK STUFF GETS EVERYWHERE. *TR
THE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG (OFF) LIGHT STAYS LIT ON THE PASSENGER DASH, EVEN WHEN THERE IS AN ADULT IN THE SEAT, AND A SEPARATE ONE IS ON THE DRIVER'S DASH PANEL. WAS TOLD IT PROBABLY WAS A SENSOR IN THE SEAT AND WOULD COST ABOUT $1600. IT STAYS LIKE THAT AND NEVER CHANGES. NISSAN WANTS MONEY JUST TO TAKE A LOOK.
THE DASH BOARD IS MELTING DOWN AND WHEN THE SUN HITS THE STICKY DASH BOARD IT CAUSES A GLARE IN THE WINDSHIELD TO WHERE IT MAKES IT HARD FOR YOU TO SEE.
TRASMITION
WHEN LOCKING AND UNLOCKING DOORS, THE DRIVERS DOOR IS NOT RESPONDING FROM THE REMOTE, SAME EXACT THING ON MY MURANO, AND THEN EFFECTING THE FUEL DOOR CAP.
TAKATA RECALL STEERING WHEEL LOCK MECHANISM WILL NOT LET ME START CAR AFTER BUYING NUMEROUS PARTS
I WAS DRIVING DOWN 240 IN MEMPHIS AND MY SUN ROOF EXPLODED . IT'S THE PANORAMA SUNROOF. I WASN'T NEAR AN OVER PASS OR NEAR ANYTHING THAT COULD HAVE HIT IT . IT WAS EXTREMELY LOUD. IT SOUNDED LIKE A SHOT GUN BLAST OR SOMETHING . I SWERVED AND ALMOST WRECKED BUT THANKFULLY DID NOT . I HAVE DONE RESEARCH AND SEEN WHERE OVER A HUNDRED PEOPLE HAVE COMPLAINED OF THE SAME THING HAPPENING WITH THEIR NISSANS AND APPARENTLY IT'S BECAUSE OF THE TEMPERED GLASS THEY USE AND THE AMOUNT OF PRESSURE .
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 NISSAN MAXIMA. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE SUN ROOF EXPLODED WITHOUT WARNING OR AN IMPACT. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SANDY SANSING NISSAN (LOCATED AT 5705 PENSACOLA BLVD, PENSACOLA, FL 32505, (850) 479-4700), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
MY BRAKE LIGHT AND BATTERY LIGHT COME ON AT THE SAME TIME. MY WENT DEAD IN THE MIDDLE OF A TURN. I REPLACED THE BATTERY. HAD THE ALTERNATOR CHECKED. WAS TOLD IT WAS FINE. AFTER A NEW BATTERY MY CAR RUNS FINE BUT LOSES POWER AND HESITATES LIKE ITS GOING TO STALL FROM TAKE OFF OR ENTERING A TURN AND MY BRAKE AND BATTERY ARE STILL COMING ON AT THE SAME TIME. I GOOGLED THE ISSUE AND IT APPEARS BE A LONG STANDING ISSUE NO REAL RESOLUTION. I TOOK IT TO AUTOZONE THEY DID DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND I GOT CODE P0011 THE SAME ONE I PAID TO BE REPAIRED PREVIOUSLY.
MY TRANSMISSION MESSED UP ON ME WITH 114,000 MILES! BRAND NEW ALMOST AND WHEN IT WOULD GO OVER 45 IT WON'T CATCH MY GEARS THE RPM WOULD GO STAY PUT AND MAKE A LOUD WHINING NOISE!!
MY DESKTOP IN MY CAR WERE GETTING STICKY SO I CALL ALEXANDRIA LA DEALER AND TOLD MY PROBLEM BUT THEY NEVER RESPONDED AND NOW IT'S GETTING CRACKED SO I CALLED NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS AND THEY ALSO TOLD ME THEY CAN NOT FIX IT BECAUSE SEVEN YEAR OF MY CAR.WHEN I HAD SAME ISSUE WITH MY TOYOTA SIENNA 2008 AFTER 8 YEARS THEY DID REPLACE NEW DESKTOP FREE OF CHARGE. SO PLEASE CAN YOU LOOK IN TO IT AND FIX IT.
BROUGHT VEHICLE TO REPAIR SHOP BECAUSE OF NOISE. REPAIR SHOP INFORMED ME THAT NOISE COMES FROM TRANSMISSION. DID SOME INVESTIGATION AND FOUND THAT NISSAN HAS HAD ISSUES WITH THESE CVT TRANSMISSIONS. NISSAN HAD A RECALL FOR ALL YEARS UNTIL 2010 INCLUDING 2010. NOT 2011. THIS IS THE SAME TRANSMISSION THAT FAILS PREMATURELY. I CALLED THE DEALER $145 DIAGNOSTIC. NO GUARANTEES THAT NISSAN WILL PROVIDE "GOODWILL ASSISTANCE" . WHY DID RECALL STOP IN 2010?
ON MY WAY TO WORK AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY MY 2011 NISSAN MAXIMA ALL OF THE SUDDEN WOULD NO LONGER SPEED UP. THE VEHICLE WAS ON AND AS I TRIED TO ACCELERATE WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY THE SPEEDOMETER WENT TO 0 MPH BUT THE RPM WOULD CLIMB. I LUCKILY WAS ABLE TO STEER THE CAR INTO AN EMPTY PARKING LOT. MY CAR HAD NO CHECK ENGINE/SERVICE ENGINE LIGHTS ON. THERE WERE NO WARNINGS. I THOUGHT IT WAS THE SPEED SENSOR DUE TO THE ORIGINAL DIAGNOSTIC CODE OF P0500 AND TRIED REPLACEMENT BUT THAT DID NOT SOLVE THE ISSUE. MY VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A NISSAN DEALERSHIP WHO SAID IT WAS SHOWING 'PAGES FULL OF CODES' AND THEY TOLD ME THAT MY TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE COMPLETELY REPLACED AND THAT 'IT JUST HAPPENS.' PRIOR TO THIS TOTAL FAILURE I EXPERIENCED ABSOLUTELY ZERO SIGNS OF TRANSMISSION FAILURE. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS (CHECK ENGINE/SERVICE ENGINE SOON), NO SLIPPING/JERKING, LEAKING, NOTHING AT ALL. AFTER RESEARCHING THE POTENTIAL CAUSE OF TRANSMISSION FAILURE IN MY MAKE/MODEL/YEAR VEHICLE I FOUND THERE WERE MANY 2011 OWNERS WHO WERE EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE, TOTAL TRANSMISSION FAILURE WITHOUT WARNING.

TL* TAKATA RECALL. THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 NISSAN MAXIMA. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V287000 (AIR BAGS); HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. NEMET NISSAN (153-12 HILLSIDE AVENUE, JAMAICA, NEW YORK 11432, (718) 523-5858) WAS MADE AWARE OF THE RECALL AND SCHEDULED A DIAGNOSTIC APPOINTMENT FOR OCTOBER 2, 2018. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE PARTS WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 NISSAN MAXIMA. THE CONTACT NOTICED HOT AIR BLOWING THROUGH THE VENTS WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONER WAS ACTIVATED. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE MORE THAN TWICE, BUT THE FAILURE STILL OCCURRED. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SHERIDAN NISSAN (114 S DUPONT HWY, NEW CASTLE, DE 19720, (302) 326-6100) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE COMPRESSOR WAS FAULTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,000. *TT *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 NISSAN MAXIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DASHBOARD MELTED AND CAUSED A GLARE FROM THE SUN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO NAPLES NISSAN (3640 PINE RIDGE RD, NAPLES, FL 34109, 239-300-2765) WHERE THE FAILURE WAS CONFIRMED, BUT NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED A FIFTY PERCENT DISCOUNT OFF THE REPAIR COST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 70,065.
TAKATA RECALL. AFTER BEING TOLD A PART ON MY TRANSMISSION WAS BROKEN I IMMEDIATELY GOT IT FIXED. WHEN ON THE HIGHWAY THE CAR WOULD REV TO HIGH RPM ON ITS OWN. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT BACK TO THE MECHANIC. THEY TOLD ME I NEEDED A WHOLE NEW TRANSMISSION THAT IS ON BACK ORDER BY NISSAN. IT'S BEEN A MONTH WITHOUT MY CAR AND TRANSMISSION ISN'T RECALLED EVEN AFTER BEING ON BACK ORDER. MY MAXIMA HAS ONLY 90000 MILES AND THIS SHOULDN'T BE AN ISSUE FOR A NEWER 2011 MAXIMA. I JUST WANT TO PREVENT ANYONE ELSE FROM BEING TRICKED INTO PURCHASING A CAR WITH A FAULTY TRANSMISSION WITHOUT KNOWING IT'S ISSUES. NEEDS TO BE RECALLED!
2011 NISSAN MAXIMA. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE PASSENGER AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT STAYS ON INDICATING AIRBAG WILL NOT DEPLOY. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE AIRBAG LIGHT WOULD ILLUMINATE WHILE A PASSENGER WAS SEATED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE DEALER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS OPERATING AS DESIGNED. THE FAILURE EVENTUALLY BEGAN TO OCCUR WITHOUT ANYONE OR ANYTHING OCCUPYING THE SEAT. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP WHO ADVISED THE VEHICLE HAD A FAILED CLOCK SPRING. *JS
TAKATA RECALL. AT 80K MILES MY VEHICLE IS IDLING WHILE IN PARK AND ALSO WHILE ACCELERATING ITS DOING A JERK AND FEELS AS IF IT DOESN'T WANT TO GO INTO GEAR TO REACH HIGHER SPEED. I CHECKED THE CODE AND IT READ AS A AIR MASS FLOW SENSOR, CATALYST CONVERTER, AND O2 SENSOR. THE CAR TURNED OFF ON ME WHILE ON, JUMP STARTED IT AND TURNED BACK ON. I CHANGED THE MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR AND ITS STILL DOING THE SAME THING. I TOOK IT TO THE MECHANIC AND THE MECHANIC SAID THE CODE SAYS BATTERY AND OTHER THINGS. RECCOMMENDED WE START CHEAP BY CHANGING THE BATTERY AND GOING FROM THERE. I CHANGED THE BATTERY AND THE COMPUTER NOW SAYS O2 SENSOR. I KEEP DUMPING ALOT OF MONEY INTO THIS VEHICLE AND TO ME IT SEEMS THAT THIS ISSUE IS ALSO HAPPENING MANY OTHERS INCLUDING MY CLOSE FRIEND WHO OWNS THE SAME VEHICLE.
OCS SYSTEM DOES NOT SENSE WHEN A PASSENGER (GROWN ADULT OVER 150 LBS.) IS SITTING IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. AS A RESULT THE AIRBAGS REMAIN OFF.
TAKATA INFLATORS. I'VE NOTICED THAT THE REAR DRIVER SIDE SUSPENSION DOES NOT SUSPEND CORRECLY. I FEEL THE REAR TIRE SLIPPING UNDER NORMAL WEATHER CONDITIONS. SO MUCH SO THAT ONE CAN FEEL THE TIRE SLIP. PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT MY TIRES ARE STILL NEW. I'M ALSO HEARING A WEIRD SOUND THAT COMES FROM THE SAME AREA. I'M NOT SURE WHAT'S HAPPENING. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR IS IN MOTION.
WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH ON I10, 20 MILES EAST OF BEAUMONT TEXAS, MY PANORAMIC SUNROOF EXPLODED ON ITS OWN. THERE WAS NO COLLISION WITH ANY ROAD DEBRIS, NOR WERE WE IN THE VICINITY OR IMPACTED FROM ANYTHING FALLING FROM AN OVERPASS. THE TRAFFIC WAS HEAVY AND AS A RESULT OF THE EXPLOSION, I WAS FORCED TO GET TO AN EXIT COVERED IN SHARDS OF GLASS. THIS GLASS EXPLOSION CREATED A VERY UNSAFE CONDITION NOT ONLY FOR MY IMMEDIATE FAMILY, BUT FOR THE OTHER INNOCENT PEOPLE THAT WAS IN THE IMMEDIATE AREA. I WAS ABLE TO GET TO THE SIDE SHOULDER TO GAIN MY EXPOSURE THEN DROVE TO AN OFF RAMP. I TOOK PICTURES AND CLEANED THE BROKEN SHARDS FROM MY WIFE, MY TWO CATS AND MYSELF FIRST AND FOREMOST. WE ALL HAD GLASS CUTS, BUT DID NOT NEED ANY SUTURES. I THEN CLEANED UP THE REMAINING BROKEN GLASS FROM THE SEATS, FLOOR ETC... AND PILED THE BROKEN SHARDS INTO A PILE ON THE VEHICLE ROOF. I TOOK A PICTURE OF THIS PILE TO SHOW HOW MUCH GLASS COVERED US IN RELATION TO HOW MUCH GLASS EXPLODED OVER THE INNOCENT VEHICLES BEHIND ME AT THE ACTUAL TIME OF EXPLOSION. I CALLED PROGRESSIVE INSURANCE TO NOT ONLY REPORT THE INCIDENT, BUT TO FILE A CLAIM. THEY GAVE ME CLAIM NUMBER 184507967. WHEREAS I WAS ON A BUSINESS TRIP AND DID NOT LIVE IN THE IMMEDIATE AREA, I DID NOT HAVE THE LUXURY OF PARKING THE VEHICLE IN A GARAGE AND GETTING A RENTAL UNTIL RESOLUTION OF THE CLAIM. I DROVE WITH NO PROTECTION FROM THE 35 DEGREE WEATHER AND DRIZZLE TO THE CLOSEST HOME DEPOT AND PURCHASED MATERIALS TO FABRICATE MY OWN INSULATED ROOF IN THE PARKING LOT. AT THE TIME, I HAD NO CLUE WHAT HAD POTENTIALLY HAIR MY CAR, BUT DEEP INSIDE, KNEW NOTHING HAD. WHEN I PULLED OVER IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE INCIDENT, I THOUGHT IT WAS ODD THAT THE GLASS WAS SHAPED WITH AN OUTWARD MUSHROOM SHAPE AS IF EXPLOSION CAME FROM INSIDE OUT. AFTER CONTINUED RESEARCH, IT IS UNACCEPTABLE THAT THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH NO MANUFACTURER RESPONSIBILITY.
LETTER FROM SENATOR BOOZMAN ON BEHALF OF CONSTITUENT RE 2011 NISSAN MAXIMA CONSUMER COMPLAINT AGAINST NISSAN CORPORATE. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS MAKING A HORRIBLE KNOCKING NOISE. THE CONSUMER WAS ADVISED THE TRANSMISSION WAS GOING OUT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE CONSUMER REQUESTED TO BE REIMBURSED FOR THE REPAIRS AND THE RENTAL. *JS
MY MECHANIC TELLS ME MAXIMA 2011 HAS A COMMON PROBLEM THAT NEEDS TO REPROGRAM THE ECM. "SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT SOON KEEPS APPEARING" THIS SHOULD BE A FREE SERVICE BECAUSE MY CAR DOES NOT NEED A NEW MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR. PLEASE FACTORY RECALL THIS ISSUE. MY CAR IS ACTUALLY IN GREAT SHAPE AT 49,000 MILES. HERE ARE THE LIST OF CARS AFFECTED. HTTPS://WWW.AUTOCODES.COM/P0101_NISSAN.HTML I WENT TO BAY RIDGE NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND TELLS ME MY WARRENTY DOES NOT COVER THIS SERVICE AND THERE IS NO FACTORY RECALL OR BULLETIN. HE WANTS ME TO BUY A NEW PART ($260.00 USD) AND REPROGRAM THE ECM ($175.00 USD). THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE.
VEHICLE DASH COATING IS BREAKING DOWN BECOMING STICKY AND HIGHLY REFLECTIVE CAUSING SUNLIGHT TO REFLECT OFF DASH BOARD ONTO INSIDE OF FRONT WINDSHIELD MAKING IT VERY DIFFICULT TO SEE THROUGH WINDSHIELD WHEN DRIVING.
DASHBOARD IS STICKY OR MELTING
THE NISSAN MAXIMA HAS BEEN TAKEN TO THE MAINTENANCE FACILITY REGARDING AN ISSUE WITH THE TIRES CONSISTENTLY LOSING AIR PRESSURE. FOUR NEW TIRES WERE PLACED ON THE VEHICLE AT THE NISSAN DEALER AND THE SAME PROBLEM EXISTS. WE RECENTLY DROVE TO THE END OF OUR DRIVEWAY FOR DISTANCE TRAVEL AND THE TIRES LOCKED, SKIDDED AND SOUNDED AS IF METAL WAS TOUCHING METAL. WE PARKED THE VEHICLE AND HAD TO TAKE OTHER MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION. EACH TIME WE TAKE THE VEHICLE INTO THE NISSAN DEALER FOR THIS AND SIMILAR COMPLAINTS, WE'RE TOLD IT MAY BE THE WEATHER, OR THAT THE TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT WHICH STAYS ON MAY BE DUE TO A DEFECTIVE FUSE, BUT THAT WAS NO GUARANTEE THAT THE TIRE ISSUE WOULD BE RESOLVED. WE GET DIFFERENT POSSIBILITY ISSUES EACH TIME WE GO IN. WE HESITATE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE FOR POSSIBILITY OF BEING STRANDED ALONGSIDE A HIGHWAY. WE'RE MAKING PAYMENTS ON AN EXPENSIVE 'PAPER WEIGHT.' THE TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT STAYS ON, AND EVEN AFTER PUTTING AIR IN THE TIRES, THE TIRES THEMSELVES STILL POSE A PROBLEM. THIS RECENT INCIDENT HAS PUT THE VEHICLE OUT OF USE UNTIL THE NISSAN MAINTENANCE FACILITY CAN GIVE US ANSWERS AS TO WHAT'S REALLY GOING ON WITH THE VEHICLE. NEEDLESS TO SAY, WE HAVE TO PAY FOR THEM TO DO ANYTHING OTHER THAN PUT AIR IN THE TIRES, AND AFTER QUOTING LARGE AMOUNTS OF MONEY FOR WHAT MAY "POSSIBLY' BE THE PROBLEM, WE MAY STILL DRIVE AWAY WITH THE ISSUE. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN ONGOING FOR OVER 1 1/2 YEARS. THE MOST RECENT INCIDENT IS INDICATED BELOW.
THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON IN MY MAXIMA A NUMBER OF MONTHS BACK WHEN THE VEHICLE HAD CLOSE TO APPROXIMATELY 64K MILES. THE CODES THAT TRIPPED WERE P0011 AND P0021, BANK 1 AND BANK 2 CAM SENSORS. UPON BRINGING IT TO GARDEN CITY NISSAN, I WAS INFORMED THE FRONT AND REAR COVERS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THE COST WAS EXPECTED TO BE $2,400. THE REPAIR WAS PERFORMED AND THE BILL WAS PAID. ACCORDING TO THE REP. AT THE DEALERSHIP, THIS TYPE OF REPAIR IS PERFORMED ON THIS CAR TWICE A MONTH. THE GASKET IN THE MOTOR MOUNT IS CARDBOARD AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED WITH A SILICONE BASED GASKET. THE CARDBOARD GASKET BREAKS APART AND WILL CAUSE PROBLEMS WITH THE ENGINE PERFORMANCE BY LOWERING THE OIL PRESSURE, WHICH WILL EVENTUALLY SEIZE THE ENGINE. THE CAR WAS ONLY 4K MILES OUT OF THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY AND NISSAN WOULD NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE WITH THE REPAIR. DURING THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE, I REGULARLY PERFORMED OIL CHANGES, FOR WHICH I HAVE ALL RECEIPTS. ALTHOUGH THIS IS MORE OF AN ENGINE PERFORMANCE ISSUE THAN A SAFETY ISSUE, THIS SHOULD BE REVIEWED BY THE NHTSA AS MANUFACTURERS DEFECT THAT COSTS CONSUMERS A LOT OF MONEY TO REPAIR. THIS IS A HARDSHIP FOR ME AS I'M SURE IT IS FOR MANY CONSUMERS. SOME MAY NOT BE ABLE TO AFFORD THIS TYPE OF A REPAIR AND WILL NOT HAVE THE SERVICE DONE. I AM NOT SURE WHAT WOULD HAPPEN OVER TIME IF THIS REPAIR IS NOT PERFORMED SOMETHING OF THIS MAGNITUDE SHOULD NOT HAPPEN ON A CAR OF THIS AGE. I APPEALED TO NISSAN BOTH VERBALLY AND IN WRITING WITH NO LUCK. I WOULD HOPE THAT THE NHTSA WOULD LOOK INTO THIS AND POSSIBLE APPLY SOME PRESSURE TO NISSAN TO INITIATE A RECALL. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME. ATTACHED IS THE CLAIM APPEAL I SENT TO NISSAN AS WELL AS THE REPAIR BILL. ANY ASSISTANCE WITH ISSUE WOULD BE APPRECIATED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2011 NISSAN MAXIMA. WHILE THE CONTACT'S SON WAS DRIVING 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED INDEPENDENTLY AND CRASHED INTO A TREE. ALL THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT'S SON SUSTAINED SHOULDER PAIN, CHEST PAIN, AND LOT OF CUTS AND BRUISES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN UNKNOWN DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.
DASHBOARD IS MELTING CAUSING AN UNSAFE GLARE IN SUNLIGHT. ALSO POTENTIALLY WEAKENING THE PERFORMANCE OF THE PASSENGER FRONT AIRBAG CAUSING AN UNSAFE CONDITION.
TAKATA RECALL. CAR MADE A NOISE AND THEN STALLED. PULLED OVER AND CAR WOULD NOT GO IN DRIVE OR REVERSE. TRANSMISSION WENT OUT IN VEHICLE.
VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON THE HIGHWAY AND I WAS IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE AND THE CAR DID NOT RESPOND. I COASTED TO THE EMERGENCY LANE. MY CARS TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT ENGAGE. I WAS STRANDED ON THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY FOR TWO HOURS, UNTIL THE TOW TRUCK ARRIVED. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION I FOUND THAT NISSAN MAXIMA'S WERE RECALLED FROM 2003-2010 FOR CVT TRANSMISSION FAILURES. NISSAN DOUBLED THE WARRANTY (10 YEARS, 120,000 MILES). MY VEHICLE HAD THE SAME CVT TRANSMISSION ISSUE AND I HAD 110,000 MILES WHEN THE INCIDENT OCCURRED. NISSAN PUT THE SAME FAULTY CVT TRANSMISSION IN MY CAR AS THEY DID THE PREVIOUS YEARS. I AM REQUESTING A REFUND FOR REPAIRS AND CAR RENTAL (CVT TRANSMISSION $2,443.87, CAR RENTAL $550.04). UPON REQUEST I CAN PROVIDE RECEIPTS. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AND I COULD HAVE BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT ON THE HIGHWAY AND BEEN INJURED OR INJURED SOMEONE ELSE.
THE DASHBOARD OF THE VEHICLE HAS STARTED GETTING STICKY AND SHINY IN SOME PLACES. THE DASHBOARD SCRATCHES AND DETERIORATES EASILY. IN SOME CASES, THE SUN AND/OR LIGHTS REFLECT OFF OF THE DASH BOARD AND GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO SEE.
PANORAMIC SUNROOF EXPLOSION. I WAS DRIVING ON INTERSTATE AND HEARD A LOUD BANG SOUNDED LIKE A SHOT GUN WHICH SCARED THE CRAP OUT OF ME. MY SUNROOF EXPLODED AND THE GLASS STARTED FALLING IN MY CAR AFTER SUNROOF STARTED TO CAVE IN.
VEHICLE IS PARKED AND ENGINE WONT START. HAD A 2009 MAXIMA THAT ALSO HAD THE SAME ISSUES. CHECKED BATTERY AND IT IS FINE BUT CAR WONT START. I HAVE JUMPSTARTED IT AND THAT HAS TURNED THE CAR BACK ON BUT AFTER A FEW MONTHS I HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. THIS LAST TIME MY CAR DID NOT START , NOT EVEN WITH A JUMP START.
STEERING COLUMN LOCKING UP KEY FOB NOT BEING RECOGNIZED BY CAR. IT WONT LET ME START IT.
AS I PARKED MY CAR, I REMOVED THE SEATBELT, I NOTICED A SMOKE COMING OUT OF MY COAT WHERE THE SEAT BELT WAS REMOVED. I HAVE PICTURES OF THE DAMAGE OF THE COAT THAT SHOWS BURN MARKS.
THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START AND THE STEERING COLUMN LOCKED DUE TO A STEERING LOCK FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, AND COULD NOT BE STARTED.
STARTER MOTOR FAILURE. INTERMITTENT ON AND OFF. FAILING STARTER PRODUCES NOISE WHEN STATIONARY AND IN MOTION. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS INTERMITTENT. DIAGNOSED AND CONFIRMED FAILURE IN STARTER.
MY PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG LIST HAS BEEN ON FOR A YEAR NOW. I AM WORRIED THAT IF I HAVE A PASSENGER SIDE THEY MAY GET HURT BECAUSE THE AIRBAG MAY NOT WORK!! IT IS HIGHLIGHTED THE ENTIRE TIME THE ENGINE IS RUNNING.
CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR LIGHT HAS COME ON INTERMITTENTLY 3 TIMES IN THE PAST TWO MONTHS. UPON GETTING A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AT A NISSAN DEALERSHIP, THE SECOND TIME THE LIGHT CAME ON, I WAS TOLD THEY NEEDED THE CAR ANOTHER DAY, FOR A LONGER TIME TO FURTHER INVESTIGATE THE TWO CODES THAT CAME UP DURING THE TEST. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT BACK OUT A FEW DAYS LATER. NOW TWO MONTHS LATER THE LIGHT IS ON AGAIN AND THIS TIME AS I WAS LEAVING A SHOPPING CENTER PARKING LOT, TURNING ONTO A MAIN ROAD THE CAR MADE A JERKING/SURGE-STOP MOTION AS IF IT DID NOT WANT TO ACCELERATE. IT CONTINUED TO DO THIS SAME MOTION ANY TIME I SLOWED DOWN OR STOPPED AT A LIGHT OR SLOWED DOWN TO MAKE A TURN DURING MY 2.5-3.0 MILE TRIP TO MY HOUSE. I DID NOT DRIVE THE CAR FOR THE NEXT 24-28 HOURS. UPON DRIVING THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP TO DROP OFF FOR SERVICE I DID NOT EXPERIENCE THE JERKING/SURGE-STOP MOTION. AFTER ASSESSING THE VEHICLE TODAY I WAS INFORMED THAT THE REAR TIMING CHAIN COVER HAS DETERIORATED CAUSING PROBLEMS WITH OIL PRESSURE TO THE ENGINE, CODE P0011. THERE WERE ALSO TWO OTHER CODES FOR HEATING SYSTEM P1217 AND TRANSMISSION FLUID PRESSURE P0868. TOTAL COST OF REPAIRS $2984. MY CAR IS 5 YEARS OLD, APPROXIMATELY 67,000 MILES ON IT SO IT IS OUTSIDE OF THE WARRANTY. AFTER READING OTHERS SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ABOUT TRANSMISSION ISSUES JUST OUTSIDE OF THE WARRANTY PERIOD, KNOWING THAT PREVIOUS MODEL YEARS HAD PROBLEMS THAT ENDED UP EXTENDED WARRANTY IT IS VERY DISTURBING AND DISAPPOINTING TO KNOW THAT NISSAN IS NOT FURTHER INVESTIGATING THESE ISSUES FURTHER. ALSO, OTHER ISSUES I HAVE HAD TIRE PRESSURE INDICATOR LIGHT COMING ON INTERMITTENTLY AND CAR NOT STARTING BUT ALL DASH LIGHTS STAYING ON HAD TECHNICAL BULLETINS. THE LATTER SHOULD BE A QUICK RESOLVE YET I WAS CHARGED ALMOST $400 FOR SOMETHING NOT MENTIONED IN THE RELATED BULLETIN. NISSAN LACKS RESPONSIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!
I HAVE A 2011 MAXIMA, I PURCHASED NEW ON 5/1/2011. I NOTICED ABOUT 7 MONTHS AGO MY DASHBOARD STARTED BECOMING SHINY LOOKING AND STICKY TO THE TOUCH. MY CAR ISN'T A GARAGE KEPT CAR, BUT I'VE ALWAYS USED A WINDSHIELD SHADE TO KEEP THE SUN & HEAT OFF MY DASH. APPARENTLY, THIS DOSEN'T HELP. IT'S LIKE MY DASHBOARD IS SLOWLY MELTING AWAY! IT'S GETTING TO THE POINT NOW WHERE IT'S CAUSING A GLARE IN DIRECT SUNLIGHT AND MAKING SEEING THE ROAD HARDER NOW. . OH, AND I'VE ONLY USED A DAMP CLOTH TO CLEAN IT IN THE PAST, NO CHEMICALS, ETC.
I WAS IN ATLANTA, GA DRIVING DOWN UNION CITY ROAD WHEN I HEARD A LOUD EXPLOSION. I HEARD GLASS BREAK AND LOOKED TO SEE IF MY BACK WINDSHIELD WAS BROKEN. I PULLED OVER ONTO A SIDE STREET AND GOT OUT OF THE CAR AND REALIZED THAT MY SUNROOF EXPLODED. THERE WAS NOT ANOTHER CAR NOR TRUCK NEAR ME BEFORE THE EXPLOSION SO IT WAS NOT A ROCK. THE CLOTH DIVIDER BETWEEN THE INSIDE OF THE CAR AND THE GLASS WAS NOT DAMAGED NOR WAS A ROCK OR BULLET FOUND. I CALLED MY SISTER AND SHE TOLD ME THERE WAS A DEALER UP THE STREET AND TO GO THERE. THEY TOLD ME THEY COULD NOT REPAIR IT AND GAVE TOLD BE THAT ALBA GLASS REPAIR COULD HELP ME. I KEPT GETTING THE RUN AROUND SO I CALLED FIVE STAR NISSAN, IN ALBANY, GA, WHERE I PURCHASED THE CAR. THEY TOLD ME THAT WAS NOT PART OF THE WARRANTY AND I HAD TO CALL THE INSURANCE COMPANY WHICH I DID. NO ONE COULD EXPLAIN THE EXPLOSION. I CHECKED ONLINE AND THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED REPEATEDLY WITH SEVERAL MODELS OF NISSAN.
THE FRONT TURN SIGNAL LAMP ON THE MAXIMA IS 2" BELOW THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT. 31/2" CENTER TO CENTER. WHEN THIS VEHICLE IS ONCOMING WITH THE HEADLAMPS ON, THE TURN SIGNAL IS VIRTUALLY BLOTTED OUT BY THE GLARE OF THE HEADLAMP. THIS IS A PROBLEM ON MANY MAKES AND MODELS OF VEHICLES. THIS CONDITION IS EVEN WORSE FOR ONE THAT WEARS EYEGLASSES AND/OR HAS MILD CATARACTS AS THIS CAUSES THE ONCOMING HEADLIGHTS TO APPEAR TO FLARE. THE FRONT TURN SIGNAL LAMP SHOULD NEVER BE CLOSER THAN 6" TO THE HEADLAMPS. CONDITIONS: VEHICLE STOPPED AND READY TO TURN. WORSE AT NIGHT. CITY STREET OR COUNTRY ROAD.
MY DOOR WON'T LOOK. I HAVE REPLACED ONE ACTUATOR ON THE DOOR ALREADY. NOW I HAVE ANOTHER 2 OF THEM THAT ARE NOT WORKING. WHY DO THESE KEEP BREAKING.
THE AIR BAG LIGHT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE HAS BEEN ON FOR A FEW WEEKS NOW EVEN THOUGH SOMEONE IS SITTING IN THE SEAT. IT IS ON AS LONG AS THE CAR IS CRANKED.
WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK TONIGHT ON A REMOTE STRETCH OF HIGHWAY MY PANORAMIC SUNROOF SUDDENLY EXPLODED OUT OF NOWHERE. I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 50 MPH AND THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE WAS ABOUT 45-50 DEGREES SO I ALSO HAD THE HEATER ON INSIDE. I HAD THE SUNSHADE OPEN BUT THE TILTING PORTION OF THE ROOF CLOSED. NOTHING OUT OF THE ORDINARY AND THERE WAS NO TRAFFIC NEAR ME THAT COULD HAVE CAUSED ANY DEBRIS TO HIT THE ROOF. ALL OF A SUDDEN THE LOUDEST BANG, INITIALLY SCARING ME SO BAD I ALMOST LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND THEN GLASS WAS FLYING AROUND EVERYWHERE. IT WAS SO LOUD I THOUGHT AT FIRST I HAD A BLOWOUT FOR SPLIT SECOND UNTIL THEN THE GLASS HIT ME AND THE WIND STARTING COMING IN FROM THE GAPING HOLE IN THE ROOF. IT LITERALLY SOUNDED LIKE A GUNSHOT OR CANNON WENT OFF IN MY CAR. LUCKILY NONE OF THE GLASS INJURED ME AND EVEN MORE LUCKILY MY DAUGHTER WAS NOT WITH ME AS SHE WOULD HAVE BEEN HIT BY THE FLYING GLASS. I HAD TO CLOSE THE SUNSHADE AND DRIVE HOME THE REMAINING DISTANCE AT A MUCH SLOWER SPEED BUT LUCKILY DID SO WITHOUT INCIDENT. I TOOK SEVERAL PICTURES ONCE SAFELY HOME, AND AS YOU CAN SEE IT APPEARS AS IF THE GLASS BUBBLED UP, ALMOST LIKE FROM INSIDE AIR PRESSURE CAUSING THE EXPLOSION. MY FIRST THOUGHTS ARE THAT MAYBE THE COLD AIR OUTSIDE AND WARM AIR INSIDE? IT IS THE FRONT PANEL THAT OPENS THAT HAS THE DAMAGE AND THE REAR PANEL IS FULLY INTACT. THIS WAS AN INTENSE EXPERIENCE THAT I HOPE TO NEVER HAVE HAPPEN TO ANYONE ELSE.
THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. WHILE TURNING STEERING WHEEL SLIGHTLY LEFT ENTERING INTO A CURVE, THE 4 TIRES OF THE VEHICLE DID NOT FOLLOW THE COMMAND GIVEN BY THE STEERING WHEEL. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE STEERING WHEEL TURNED WITH GREAT EASE. WHILE REMOVING FOOT FROM ACCELERATOR, THE CAR DID NOT SLOW. THE BRAKES WERE NOT WORKING PROPERLY AND CAUSED THE 2011 NISSAN MAXIMA TO COLLIDE WITH A FIXED OBJECT. THIS INCIDENT DID NOT OCCUR AT A SPEED FAST ENOUGH TO CAUSE THE SEVERE INJURIES THAT RESULTED. THE DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG KNOCKED ME UNCONSCIOUS AND I HAVE NO RECOLLECTION FROM THE MOMENT RIGHT BEFORE "IMPACT" TO WHEN THE VEHICLE CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE CHILDREN IN THE BACK SEAT WERE SERIOUSLY INJURED. THE 10 YEAR OLD WAS WEARING HIS SEATBELT PROPERLY. THE 3 YEAR OLD WAS IN A 5 POINT HARNESS PROPERLY RESTRAINED. RECENTLY, THE OFFICE OF [XXX] INFORMED ME THAT THE BACK SEAT CAME LOOSE DURING THE ACCIDENT WHICH CAUSED BOTH CHILDREN'S SEVERE INJURIES. THE CHILDREN IN THE BACK SEAT WERE NOT ADEQUATELY PROTECTED BY THE VEHICLE DUE TO THE BACK SEAT UNHOOKING DURING THE ACCIDENT THEREFORE CAUSING SAFETY RESTRAINTS TO BE INADEQUATE AND POSSIBLY EVEN MORE HARMFUL. I ALSO WANT TO MENTION THAT THE LEFT REAR PASSENGER AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY WHERE THE 10 YEAR OLD WAS. THE VEHICLE IS POORLY DESIGNED TO SURVIVE EVEN A MINOR COLLISION. I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO ACCESS THE VEHICLE SINCE THE ACCIDENT AND GEORGIA STATE PATROL TORE IT UP BEFORE I COULD EVEN HAVE IT INSPECTED. I DO NOT KNOW WHERE THE VEHICLE IS NOR AM I ABLE TO GET THAT INFORMATION. GEORGIA STATE PATROL DOCUMENTED THAT THE AIR BAG ON THE LEFT REAR SIDE DID DEPLOY BUT THAT DOCUMENT IS INACCURATE BECAUSE I AM A WITNESS. I PRAY THAT THIS INFORMATION WILL BE USED TO PREVENT ANY AND ALL SIMILAR INCIDENTS FROM OCCURRING. I PRAY THAT YOU INVESTIGATE SIMILAR CLAIMS AND FIND ENOUGH EVIDENCE TO GET THESE DANGEROUS CARS OFF THE ROAD. *TT SEE ALSO ODI 11130128. *DSY INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR
I HAVE A 2011 NISSAN MAXIMA. THE SUNROOF BUSTED WHILE I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGH WAY. I HAD TO GO TO THE EYE DOCTOR FOR GLASS PARTICLES BEING IN MY EYE, AND I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY COULD NOT HELP ME ACCORDING TO THE SERVICE REP. I BOUGHT THIS CAR AT MOORE NISSAN IN BIRMINGHAM ALABAMA, AND THEY DID NOT HAVE A SENSE OF URGENCY AT ALL. THE CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS AWFUL AND THEY WERE NOT CONCERNED ABOUT MY SAFETY OR THE SAFETY OF MY TODDLER CHILD......UPDATED12/07/15*BF UPDATED 4/27/18*JB *TR
I HAVE A 2011 MAXIMA AND MY FAMILY AND I KEEP GETTING STRANDED. I UNLOCK THE CAR AND THEN THE BREAK IS STIFF, STEERING WHEEL IS LOCKED AND CAR WON'T START. THIS IS THE WORST FEELING WHEN YOUR SITTING IN A DARK PARKING LOT WITH 2 YOUNG KIDS. THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED! I SEE SEVERAL OTHER PEOPLE WITH THE SAME ISSUE!!
CAR HESITATES SHIFTING FROM 1ST TO 2ND. AT TIMES, THERE IS A LOUD "CLUNKING" SOUND WHEN THE GAS IS PRESSED HARD. THEN EVEN WHEN THE GAS IS PRESSED ALL THE WAY DOWN, CAR WOULD SLOWLY SHIFT. IT TAKES ABOUT 10 TO 20 SECONDS BEFORE IT WOULD SHIFT NORMALLY. THIS GETS WORSE WHEN DRIVING FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES. ERROR CODE IT RETURNS INCLUDE P1778 AND P0746. SEPARATE ISSUE: THE DRIVER SEAT ROCKS BACK AND FORTH WHEN ACCELERATING AND STOPPING.
2011 NISSAN MAXIMA. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE SHUTS DOWN WHILE DRIVING. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE JERKED THREE TIMES, BEFORE IT SHUT OFF. THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED, THE AIR FILTER HAD NOT BEEN CHANGED IN A YEAR. THE DEALER CLAIMED, THE CONSUMER REFUSED TO HAVE THE AIR FILTER CHANGED. *JB
THE SEAT SEEMS TO SHIFT BACK AND FORTH. NISSAN ANSWER WAS TO PURCHASE A SEAT BASE FOR $1500.
PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF WARNING LIGHT WAS ON WHILE THE SEAT WAS OCCUPIED WITH A PASSENGER. THIS IS THE 3RD OCCURRENCE THIS WEEK.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 NISSAN MAXIMA. WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE DRIVER SEAT SHIFTED INDEPENDENTLY WHEN THE BRAKE AND ACCELERATOR PEDALS WERE DEPRESSED. WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, THE SEAT SHIFTED BACKWARDS. WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, THE SEAT SHIFTED FORWARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
THE REAR GLASS PANEL OF SUNROOF "EXPLODED" WITH CHUNKS OF GLASS COMING OFF THE PANEL AND OVER THE NEXT FEW HOURS THE ENTIRE PANEL EXHIBITED MAJOR CRACKING THROUGHOUT. SUNROOF WAS CLOSED AT THE TIME AND OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE WAS ABOUT 45 DEGREES. WIFE WAS SLOWING ON HIGHWAY TO TURN INTO DRIVEWAY. SHE STATED THE NEAREST VEHICLE WAS OVER 1/4 MILE AHEAD OF HER SO NO POSSIBILITY OF ROCK BEING THROWN FROM THEIR TIRES. SOUNDED LIKE A SHOTGUN BLAST IN THE CAR WHEN IT OCCURRED. SINCE IT WAS THE BACK PANEL NO GLASS FELL INTO THE CAR THAT WE COULD SEE. *TR
INTERMITTENT HIGH RPM'S WITH NO CONTROL OF SPEED. WOULD HAPPEN THEN NOT HAPPEN FOR DAYS. WOULD NOT GO AT STOP SIGNS/STOP LIGHTS THEN SURGE FORWARD WHEN THE TRANSMISSION (WE LATER LEARNED) FINALLY ENGAGED. ON A DAY IT WASN'T ACTING UP WE TOOK IT TO WHERE WE BOUGHT IT (DEALERSHIP) AND THEY IMMEDIATELY NOTIFIED US THAT WE NEEDED A BRAND NEW TRANSMISSION $5,500. 2,053 MILES OUTSIDE OF WARRANTY. WE COULD NOT BELIEVE THAT WHEN THEY CONTACTED CORPORATE NO CONSIDERATION FOR OUR LONG-TERM RELATIONSHIP.NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS DID WE THINK IT WAS SOMETHING SO SERIOUS AS A COMPLETE TRANSMISSION FAILURE. THIS TRANSMISSION IS SUPPOSEDLY THE SECOND (IMPROVED) TRANSMISSION TYPE THAT NISSAN HAS PUT IN THE MAXIMA WITH THE PRIOR GENERATION OF TRANSMISSIONS BEING GIVEN A WARRANTY OF UP TO 10 YEARS OR 100,000 MILES DUE TO ALL THE PRIOR PROBLEMS THAT WERE SUPPOSED TO HAVE BEEN FIXED WITH THIS SECOND GENERATION. NOW, THEY WON'T EVEN HONOR THE TRANSMISSION ISSUE WITH A 62,053 MILEAGE. THE TRANSMISSIONS AREN'T FIXED! WE HAVE 2 SMALL GRANDCHILDREN WE PICK UP EVERY OTHER WEEK AND REGULARLY USE THE CAR TO PICK THEM UP. HOW SCARY TO HAVE REALIZED WE COULD HAVE BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT WITH THE KIDS IN THE CAR BECAUSE WE HAD NO IDEA THAT THE TRANSMISSION ON A CAR WITH ONLY 62,053 MILES WOULD BE COMPLETELY SHOT. SOMEONE PLEASE AT YOUR ORGANIZATION LOOK INTO THIS. *TR
I PURCHASED MY 2011 NISSAN MAXIMA BRAND NEW IN MAY OF 2011. ABOUT A YEAR AFTER I PURCHASED MY CAR, THE DEALERSHIP NOTIFIED ME THAT MY ENGINE MOUNT WAS SERIOUSLY DAMAGED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I CONTACTED MY WARRANTY COMPANY AND FOUND OUT THE PARTICULAR PIECE NEEDING TO BE REPLACED WASN'T COVERED UNDER MY WARRANTY. I WAS FACING A $1000.00+ REPAIR BILL. NEEDLESS TO SAY, I HAVE STILL NOT BEEN ABLE TO REPAIR MY ENGINE MOUNT. I AM TRYING TO UNDERSTAND HOW, ON A BRAND NEW CAR, CAN AN ENGINE MOUNT BE DAMAGED TO THE POINT OF NEEDING REPAIR AND THEN MY WARRANTY NOT COVERING THAT PARTICULAR PIECE? ALSO, FOR THE LAST 6-7 MONTHS, THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT HAS BEEN COMING ON AND GOING OFF. THE CAR WASN'T RIDING OR OPERATING ANY DIFFERENT SO I DISMISSED IT. RECENTLY HOWEVER, AT ROUGHLY 85K MILES, MY SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT HAS BEEN ON AND WILL NOT GO OFF. WHEN I WAS AT A STOP LIGHT, MY CAR JUST SHUT DOWN. I WAS ABLE TO RESTART IT BUT WHILE I WAS ACCELERATING, AROUND ABOUT 40MPH, THE CAR BEGAN TO JERK AS IF IT WAS TRYING TO SHIFT BUT WAS CONFUSED. THE GAS TANK WAS AT ABOUT 1/4 OF A TANK WHEN ALL OF THIS OCCURRED. MY CAR IS ONLY 3 YEARS OLD AND I AM HAVING MAJOR ISSUES AND CANNOT UNDERSTAND WHY, WHEN I BOUGHT THIS CAR BRAND NEW AND KEEP UP WITH ALL OF THE REGULAR MAINTENANCE. *TR

FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG SHUTS OFF AND THE STATUS LIGHT ILLUMINATES EVEN WHEN THE SEAT IS OCCUPIED BY AN ADULT. THIS POSES A POTENTIALLY DEADLY RESULT IF THE SEAT IS OCCUPIED DURING A COLLISION SINCE THE AIRBAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY. THIS DEFECT MUST BE CORRECTED OR PEOPLE COULD LOSE THEIR LIVES OR SUSTAIN SERIOUS BODILY INJURY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 NISSAN MAXIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE NOTICED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY WHILE A PASSENGER WAS SEATED IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY SUNDAY JULY 21ST AROUND 9:40AM MY MOON ROOF IMPLODED WHILE BEING CLOSED. IT SOUNDED LIKE A GUN SHOT IN THE CAR, I NOTICED THAT THE GLASS WAS BLOWING TOWARDS THE REAR OF THE CAR. THE GLASS HIT MY TRUNK AND NOW HAS SEVERAL DINGS DUE TO THE GLASS FLYING. NOW I AM AT THE DEALER AND THEY ARE TELLING ME THAT THIS ISN'T COVERED BY WARRANTY. I ONLY HAVE THE CAR FOR 3 MONTHS. WHILE DOING RESEARCH ONLINE I NOTICED THAT THIS ISN'T AN ISOLATED SITUATION. APPARENTLY THERE ISN'T A MANUFACTURES DEFECT EITHER. WHAT SHOULD I DO? *TR
I HIT A DEER GOING 65 MPH. NONE OF MY AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. MY CAR SUSTAINED $12,600 IN DAMAGE. I SUSTAINED A SPRAINED NECK AND A SPRAINED SHOULDER REQUIRING A SPLINT FOR COMFORT. I ALSO SUSTAINED A POSSIBLE PINCHED NERVE IN MY NECK AND SEVERE BACK PAIN. *TR
TRANSMISSION: THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON INDICATOR WAS ON SO I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR SERVICE. WHEN I RECEIVED THE DIAGNOSIS I WAS TOLD THAT MY TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. MY CAR IS JUST 3YRS OLD AND HAS 98K MILES. I WAS INFORMED THAT THIS IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AS THE EXTENDED WARRANTY EXPIRED AT 75K MILES. THE TOTAL COST OF THE RE-MANUFACTURED 3.5 TRANSMISSION WOULD BE $3589. 2003-2010 MODELS HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THE 3.0 TRANSMISSION BECAUSE OF THE SAME ISSUE. THE 2011 AND NEWER MODELS AREN'T COVERED CITING THAT IT'S NOT THE SAME TRANSMISSION (3.0 VS 3.5) THOUGH THE ISSUE WITH THE CVT TRANSMISSION IS THE SAME. FOLLOWING ARE THE DIAGNOSIS CODES I RECEIVED: P0744, P0868 AND B2190. RECOMMEND CVT ASSEMBLY. *JS

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 NISSAN MAXIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 55,200.
SINCE THE PURCHASE OF MY NISSAN MAXIMA, THE FRONT PASSENGER AIR BAG SENSOR HAS BEEN SENSITIVE. IT LIGHTS UP INDICATING THAT THE AIR BAG IS NOT ENGAGED WHEN I SIT IN THE SEAT. I AM A 125 LB WOMAN. THERE IS NO INDICATION OF MINIMUM WEIGHT TO ACTIVATE THE AIRBAG IN THE MANUAL. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM SINCE WE PURCHASED THE CAR 2 1/2 YEARS AGO. WE HAVE TAKEN IT TO 2 DIFFERENT DEALERS TO CHECK OUT THE PROBLEM. THEY SAY THERE IS NO PROBLEM BUT I CAN'T BELIEVE THE CAR WASN'T DESIGNED FOR A GROWN WOMAN TO SIT IN THE FRONT SEAT.
STEERING LOCKED..CAR WILL NOT START. I HAVE TO PAYING FOR GETTING THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. LUCKILY, I AM UNDER 36,000 MILES SO COVERED BY WARRANTY BUT WILL NOT COVER EXPENSE FOR TOWING THE CAR. I READ THIS IS VERY COMMON ISSUE WITH NISSAN MAXIMA AND FEEL THAT COMPANY SHOULD OWN RESPONSIBILITY FOR IT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PASSENGER'S SIDE BRAKE LIGHT FAILED SEVERAL TIMES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 75,567.
MY NISSAN MAXIMUM AIR BAG ON THE PASSAGE SIDE GOES OFF WHILE DRIVING. I REPORTED IT TO MY DEALER AND NISSAN CORPORATE OFFICE. I WAS ASKED IF I HAD SOMETHING IN THE SEAT THAT WEIGHTED 20 POUNDS. I WEIGHT 142 AND THE AIR BAG LIGHT COMES ON AND STAY ON FOR SOMETIME 20 MILES DRIVING UP TO 60-70 MILES PER HOUR. I FELL SO UNSAFE. I BOUGHT THIS CAR DEC. OF 2010 AND IT HAS A LITTLE OVER 21000 MILES ON IT. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING NISSAN FOR OVER FOURTH YEARS. I HAVE BEEN VERY DISAPPOINTED IN NISSAN RESPONSES. THEY REFERRED ME TO THERE BBB INC.. IT WAS NOT A GOOD RESULT. *TR
THE CAR HAS A PUSH BUTTON START AND COULD NOT BE TURNED-OFF. ALL EMERGENCY PROCEDURES IN THE MANUAL WERE FOLLOWED AND THE CAR COULD NOT BE TURNED-OFF. THE DEAL ACTUALLY LET THE CAR RUN UNTIL IT RAN OUT OF GAS. THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE THERE WAS ANY ISSUE WITH THE CAR UNTIL I WENT TO TURN IT OFF, THEN THE ENGINE WOULD NOT SHUT-OFF. A DRIVER COULD BE IN NEED OF GAS, OR NEED TO STOP WITH CHILDREN IN THE CAR AND WOULD BE IN A SITUATION WHERE THE CAR WILL NOT STOP RUNNING. THE DOORS WOULD NOT LOCK WITH THE CAR RUNNING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 NISSAN MAXIMA. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 40 MPH WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED TO AVOID A CRASH AND THE TRACTION WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. TEN MINUTES LATER, THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS UNRESPONSIVE AND COULD NOT BE DRIVEN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE TO THE CONTACT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 10,000. UPDATED 05/31/12*LJ
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 NISSAN MAXIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THE KEY LOCKING SECURITY FEATURE FAILED TO OPERATE BECAUSE THE IGNITION KEY WAS LEFT INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. WE PURCHASED A 2011 NISSAN MAXIMA IN NOVEMBER 2011 AND HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE AIRBAG LIGHT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE STAYING ON WHILE I AM SITTING IN THE SEAT. I WEIGH 115 LBS AND AM 5'1. I GOT NO HELP FROM THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP. I TOOK MY VEHICLE IN SEVERAL TIMES AND WAS TOLD NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH IT. I TALKED WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER TODAY AND SHE TOLD ME THAT BECAUSE OF MY SIZE THE AIR BAG WOULD DO MORE HARM THAN GOOD SO DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT. I WAS UNHAPPY WITH THAT ANSWER AND SHE TOLD ME SHE HAS DONE ALL SHE COULD DO, THAT I WAS WELCOME TO CALL NISSAN AND DISCUSS THE PROBLEM WITH THEM. I CALLED 1-800-NISSAN1 AND SPOKE WITH A REPRESENTATIVE THAT WAS HELPFUL. HE SAID THE WEIGHT LIMIT WAS 100LBS AND I SHOULDN'T BE HAVING THIS PROBLEM. HE OPENED A CASE AND SAID THE SERVICE MANAGER IN OUR TOWN WOULD RECEIVE A PHONE CALL AND ALSO GAVE ME A CASE NUMBER. I AM HOPEFUL THAT WE CAN GET THIS ISSUE RESOLVED. *TR
ENGINE STARTED KNOCKING, I TOOK IT TO THE NISSAN DEALER WHO PULLED THE OIL PAN AND FOUND PIECES OF THE MAIN CRANKSHAFT BEARINGS IN THE BOTTOM OF THE OIL PAN. THE CAR WAS STILL DRIVING OK AND THE KNOCK COULD NOT BE HEARD FROM INSIDE THE CAR. NISSAN REPLACED THE SHORT BLOCK ENGINE. HAD I NOT NOTICED THE KNOCK AND TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER THE ENGINE WOULD HAVE EVENTUALLY SEIZED UP AND COULD HAVE CAUSED A DANGEROUS DRIVING SITUATION. I BOUGHT THE CAR NEW AND HAD THE FIRST OIL CHANGE AT 3100 MILES BY A NISSAN DEALER AND THE ENGINE FAILED AT APPROXIMATELY 5700 MILES AFTER 4 MONTHS OF USE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 NISSAN MAXIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG LIGHT WOULD ILLUMINATE INTERMITTENTLY WHETHER THE SEAT WAS OCCUPIED OR NOT. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT THE AIR BAGS WOULD NOT DEPLOY IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER SIX TIMES FOR THE FAILURE. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE SEAT NEEDED TO BE "BROKEN IN" BECAUSE THE LEATHER WAS HARD. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND THEY SUGGESTED THE CONTACT TAKE THE VEHICLE TO ANOTHER DEALER. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO ANOTHER DEALER AND THE DEALER COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM WITH THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG. THERE WERE NO REPAIRS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,200.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS 2011 NISSAN MAXIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BEGAN TO ILLUMINATE ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE ALSO WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF FIRST GEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE TRANSMISSION CODE WAS RESET. THE FAILURE RECURRED ONE DAY LATER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THEY WERE RECEIVING VARIOUS DIFFERENT CODES FOR THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED TO INSTALL A BUTTON IN THE VEHICLE TO HELP RECORD THE PROPER CODES FOR THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS WITH THE DEALER AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,800 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 2,000.
NEW 2011 NISSAN MAXIMA. PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAGS SOMETIMES FAIL TO ACTIVATE AT ALL OR ACTIVATE ONLY AFTER DRIVING SEVERAL (12-15) MILES WITH A PASSENGER IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. SITUATION HAS OCCURRED ROUTINELY SINCE TAKING DELIVERY OF VEHICLE ON 10/14/10. CONSEQUENTLY, FRONT SEAT PASSENGERS ARE NOT PROTECTED BY THE AIRBAG SYSTEM. ALL PASSENGERS HAVE BEEN ADULTS, RANGING IN SIZE FROM 95 LBS, 5'2" TO 145 LBS, 5'8". HEAVIER PASSENGERS ACTIVATE THE AIRBAGS QUICKER. SELLING DEALER HAS EXAMINED VEHICLE AND REPLACED THE SEAR BOTTOM CUSHION CONTAINING THE ACTIVATION DEVICE. OLD PART WAS RETAINED BY DEALER. PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. *TR
