TIMING CHAIN TENSIONER
I WAS LEAVING THE STORE WHEN I NOTICED MY VEHICULAR WOULDN'T GO OVER 30 MPH. I PULLED INTO ANOTHER STORE TO ASSESS THE SITUATION. WHEN I TURNED MY CAR BACK ON AND WAS ATTEMPTING TO LEAVE MY CAR STOPPED WORKING. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE SHOP AND THEY ADVISED ME TO CALL VOLKSWAGEN BECAUSE THIS ISSUES WAS LIKELY COVERED UNDER A WARRANTY. I CALLED VOLKESWAGEN AND THEY SAID MY WARRANTY WOULD COVER IT UP TO 120K MILES AND TO TAKE IT TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP. I HAD THE CAR TOWED AGAIN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE TIMING CHAIN WAS BROKEN AND THEY SAID MY WARRANTY JUST EXPIRED AT 100K MILES. MY CAR HAS 108K MILES. AFTER DOING A LOT OF RESEARCH I FOUND THIS TO BE A FREQUENT PROBLEM WITH THIS MANUFACTURE. I ALSO FOUND THAT THERE WAS ALREADY A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT BUT MY VEHICLE WASN'T IN THE PERAMITERS BECAUSE OF THE MILEAGE (ENDS AT 100K). I NEVER RECEIVED NOTICE OF THE RECALL OR I WOULD HAVE TAKEN IT IN TO GET LOOKED AT BEFORE THE 100K MIKE CUTOFF. BECAUSE THEY SAID THIS WASN'T COVERED IN THE WARRANTY, I LOOKED INTO BUYING ANOTHER CAR FROM THEM. THEY INFORMED ME THAT THEY COULD GIVE ME $250 FOR MY VEHICLE. NOW I KNOW VOLKSWAGEN IS TRYING TO AVOID PAYING FOR THIS BECAUSE THEY KNOW THEY CAN MAKE MONEY.
VEHICLE KEEPS MISFIRING. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT REMAINS ON. EPC LIGHT COMES ON PERIODICALLY AFTER FUEL PUMP WAS REPLACED. WHILE DRIVING CAR JERKS AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BEGINS TO FLASH. LOTS OF WEAR TO TIRES WITHIN A FEW THOUSAND MILES. BREAKS MUST BE PUSH ON HARD TO STOP. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THE ONLY THING THAT WAS WRONG WAS A CODE FOR CARBON BUILDUP. DEALERSHIP WOULD NOT PROVIDE CODE JUST A PRICE OF $1000. SPARK PLUGS AND COILS WERE CHANGED BEFORE PURCHASING VEHICLE. I'M CERTAIN THE FUEL PUMP WAS NOT CHANGED. THE VEHICLE USES 1/8 OF A TANK TO WARM UP.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 VOLKSWAGEN CC. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENGINE WOULD NOT START. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO OURISMAN HONDA OF LAUREL (3371 LAUREL FORT MEADE RD, LAUREL, MD 20724, (301) 498-7400) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
BOUGHT THE CAR USED AND TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC TO GET IT CHECKED OUT. LOW AND BEHOLD THEY INFORMED ME I HAVE A FAILING POWER STEERING MODULE, REAR MAIN SEAL, CARBON BUILD UP ON THE INTAKE, AS WELL AS CRACKS IN BOTH FRONT CONTROL ARMS. TOOK IT TO A DEALER WHO CONFIRMED THIS DIAGNOSIS AND GAVE ME A $6250 QUOTE FOR THE WORK. CAR WAS DRIVING FINE AND FELT GREAT. AFTER TAKING IT TO THE SHOP THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. CAR HAS 90K ON IT AND WAS UNDER WARRANTY UNTIL THEN. ALL THESE ITEMS WERE NEGLECTED BY THE DEALER.
I PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE AND THE CAR DROVE FORWARD. IT HAS ALSO ACTED AS THOUGH IT IS IN NEUTRAL WHILE IN REVERSE. EVERY TIME THIS OCCURS THE DASH TRANSMISSION LIGHT BLINKS. AT TIMES IT STUTTERS WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP AND MAKES CLICKING NOISES WHEN STOPPED. THERE IS APPROXIMATELY 80K MILES ON THE TRANSMISSION, ALL SERVICES HAVE BEEN DONE AND HAS NOT BEEN IN ANY ACCIDENTS. THERE ARE NO RECALLS FOR THIS PROBLEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 VOLKSWAGEN CC. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO HESITATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DUBLIN VOLKSWAGEN (6085 SCARLETT COURT, DUBLIN, CA 94568) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TIMING CHAIN TENSIONER FAILED AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE SAME DEALER REPAIRED THE VEHICLE IN 2015, 2016, AND 2017 FOR THE SAME FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED FOR THE RECENT FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 194,000.
THE REAR VIEW CAMERA IMAGE IN THIS CAR'S RADIO (MODEL RNS-510) COMES ON EXTREMELY SLOWLY. IF THE CAR HAS NOT BEEN USED FOR MORE THAN 30 MINS, MOSTLY LIKELY IT WILL TAKE 30 SECONDS FOR THE REAR VIEW CAMERA IMAGE TO SHOW UP ON THE SCREEN, RENDERING THE REAR VIEW CAMERA MOSTLY USELESS. WE HAVE MANY KIDS IN OUR AREA, THIS IS NOT SAFE. I CHECKED THE INTERNET, THERE ARE TONS OF COMPLAINS FROM OTHER DRIVERS ABOUT THIS RADIO FOR THIS ISSUE. VW IS DOING NOTHING ABOUT IT. THIS RADIO NEEDS A FIRMWARE UPDATE TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE.
I RECEIVED A RECALL FOR MY FUEL PUMP. I WENT AND GOT THE FUEL PUMP REPLACED. NOW THAT THE FUEL PUMP HAS BEEN REPLACED, MY CAR IS NOT STARTING, SHAKING AT RED LIGHTS, TURNING OFF ON ITS OWN, WINDOWS COMING DOWN ON ITS OWN, AIR NOT WORKING AND COMING BACK ON. I WAS IN MOTION BACKING UP AND MY CAR JUST TURNED OFF ON ITS ON. I AM AT A STANDSTILL WITH WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO IF THE VEHICLE HAD A RECALL- THAT WAS SUPPOSEDLY REPLACED BUT MADE THE CAR WORSE.
AFTER 87K MY 2011 VW CC HAS AN ISSUE WITH THE TIMING CHAIN TENSION AND HAS RUINED MY ENGINE IN LESS THAN 72 HOURS. I RECEIVED A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT NOTIFICATION AND IMMEDIATELY SCHEDULED A SERVICE APPOINTMENT, BUT BY THE TIME I GOT IT INTO THE SHOP, MY ENGINE WAS DESTROYED. EVEN THOUGH I NEVER RECEIVED A LOW OIL NOTIFICATION, I NOTICED THE OIL WAS LOW BY THE DIP STICK AND THEREFORE ADDED A FEW QUARTS OF OIL. WHEN I GOT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE THE ENGINE WAS ALMOST COMPLETELY OUT OF OIL AND MY ENGINE WAS DAMAGED. THE TOTAL ESTIMATE FOR REPAIRS IS OVER $10,000 AND THEREFORE EXCEEDS THE VALUE OF THE VEHICLE($5K).
VW & AUDI TIMING CHAIN TENSIONER DEFECT ' CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. ENGINE FAILED DUE TO TIMING CHAIN TENSIONER DEFECT. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY. WENT TO START VW CC AND IT HAD A DELAYED OR SLOW CRANK. WHEN THE ENGINE STARTED IT WAS VIBRATING LIKE CRAZY. HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALER AND A FEW DAYS LATER WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS THE TIMING HAD SLIPPED DUE TO THE TENSIONER. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND OUT ABOUT THE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. ACCORDING TO THE INFORMATION PRESENTED ON CARCOMPLAINTS.COM SEVERAL BULLETINS IN REGARDS TO THIS ISSUE WHERE SENT TO THE DEALERS SERVICE DEPARTMENTS AND OF COURSE THE SERVICE MANAGER THAT I AM DEALING WITH HAS NO KNOWLEDGE OF SUCH AN ISSUE AND HAS WORKED AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR MANY YEARS AND IT WOULD COST $3000 - $9000 DEPENDING ON ENGINE DAMAGE BUT MOST LIKELY NEED A NEW ENGINE. THE INFORMATION ALSO STATES THAT THIS COULD AND DOES HAPPEN WHEN THE VEHICLE IS MOVING WHICH COULD PROVE TO BE VERY DANGEROUS. THIS NEEDS BE INVESTIGATED AND THE SIMPLE FACT THAT DEALERS, SERVICE DEPARTMENTS AND VW CALL CENTER PERSONNEL ARE NOT AWARE OF THIS ISSUE AND BASICALLY DENY ANY KIND OF LIABILITY IS EXTREMELY UNJUST.
MY CAR SHUT DOWN WHILE I WAS DRIVING THE CAR HAD FUEL AND WASN'T ABLE TO REGISTER THERE WAS FUEL IN THE CAR AND WAS TOLD IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY AND THAT MY CONVERTER WENT BAD. IT HAD ALL THE SIGNS OF A FUEL COMPONENT PROBLEM. I AM TOLD THE CONVERTER AND THROTTLE BODY DAMAGE CAN BE DIRECTLY FROM THE FUEL PUMP ISSUES.

I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR TO VW SERVICE DEPARTMENT 5 TIMES SINCE 3/23/18 FOR AN ENGINE LIGHT PROBLEM. FIRST IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY, THEN IT WAS THE FUEL SYSTEM, NEXT THE INTAKE MANIFOLD. THE CAR IS BACK AT THE DEALER BECAUSE THE ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AGAIN. VW OF AMERICA IS NOT HELPFUL AT ALL.

WENT INTO PARKING LOT AND CRANKED VEHICLE AND SELECTED REVERSE. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT REVERSE. SHUT VEHICLE OFF, STARTED AGAIN, AND PUSHED ACCELERATOR HARDER. THE VEHICLE MOVED, BUT WOULD ONLY ACCELERATE TO ABOUT 30-40 MPH. DROVE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED IT. THEY STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS IN SAFE MODE. ALL OF THE DRIVE MODES WERE BLINKING. DEALER DID A DIAGNOSTIC TEST ON THE CC. THE END RESULT WAS THAT THE TRANSMISSION HAD FAILED. THE CC ONLY HAS 99,500 MILES ON IT.

I RECEIVED A NOTICE THAT MY FUEL PUMP WAS BEING RECALLED FOR SAFETY PRECAUTIONS. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED MY LOCAL VW DEALERSHIP AND THEY PROCEEDED TO TELL ME THAT EVEN THOUGH THIS WAS A SAFETY ISSUE, THE PART WAS NOT YET AVAILABLE FOR THE DEALERSHIPS TO REPAIR. I HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH THE CAR NOT GOING WHEN I PRESS ON THE GAS AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN IT GOES FROM 5 MPH-55 MPH WITHOUT ME INITIATING IT. THIS IS VERY SCARY ESPECIALLY CONSIDERING I HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO TRANSPORT MY PRECIOUS CHILDREN TO AND FROM SCHOOL AND WORK EVERYDAY IN THIS DEFECTED VEHICLE.
I WAS DRIVING THIS CAR WITH MY KIDS IN THE BACK SEAT. CAR STOPPED SUDDENLY IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET. MOVED MY CAR WITH THE HELP OF OTHERS AND THE CAR RESTARTED WHEN I SWITCHED OFF AND ON THE CAR.

CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, CAR STARTED TO MISFIRE AND DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME THAT TIMING CHAIN TENSIONER WAS BAD. CAR ALSO HAS OIL LEAKING ISSUES. CAR WAS AT DEALERSHIP FOR OIL PROBLEM WHEN IT THREW SEVERAL CODES FOR PVC VALVE AND TENSIONER.

THEY SENTIDO ME A LETTER
DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY IN MORNING RUSH-HOUR TRAFFIC, THE TRANSMISSION UNEXPECTEDLY DOWNSHIFTED TO 2ND GEAR AND THE GEAR INDICATOR BEGAN BLINKING. THIS CAUSED RAPID DECELERATION FROM HIGHWAY SPEED DOWN TO 30-40 MPH. I WAS FORTUNATELY ABLE TO MANEUVER AWAY FROM TRAFFIC. DEALER DIAGNOSED LEAKING REAR MAIN SEAL, BAD PCV VALVE AND A CATASTROPHIC MECHANICAL FAILURE OF THE TRANSMISSION.
I WAS MAKING A RIGHT TURN WHEN I HEARD A LOUD POP IN THE STEERING WHEEL. ON THE DISPLAY IT SHOWED AIRBAG ERROR AND THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC AND HE CALLED ME AN TOLD ME THAT MY AIRBAG WILL NOT WORK IN A CRASH AN THAT THERE IS TWO RECALLS ON MY CAR ONE BEING THE TAKATA AN THE OTHER BEING NHSTA RECALL NUMBER 15V48300. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND TOLD THEM WHAT HAPPED AN THEY SAID THERE WAS RECALLS ACCORDING TO MY MODEL BUT WASN'T ANY RECALLS THEY CAN FIX ACCORDING TO MY VIN NUMBER WAS CURIOUS WHAT I NEED TO DO ABOUT THIS
I WAS DRIVING THE ENGINE DIED AT FREEWAY SPEEDS. WITH NO POWER IT WAS DANGEROUS FOR ME TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD SAFELY. IF IT HAD BEEN AT NIGHT, IM NOT SURE I WOULD HVE MADE IT. THE PROBLEM TURNED OUT TO BE N205 VALVE. IT IS A KNOW PROBLEM THAT THERE IS A SCREEN THAT CAN FALL APART AND BLOCK THE VALVE FROM MOVING OIL TO THE CAM SHAFT. CAUSING THE TIMING TO MOVE AND CAUSE CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE. THE MECHANICS AT THE DEALERSHIP SAY IT IS A ISSUE THEY SEE ALL THE TIME. THEY SAID THE NEW VERSION OF THE PART IS TO CORRECT THAT. PROBLEM IS WHEN CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE HAPPENS THE DEALERSHIP ATTITUDE SEEMS TO BE WE KNOW ITS A PROBLEM BUT IF THE COST IS TO HIGH TO FIX, THEY WILL NOT DO ANY THING UNTIL THERE IS A RECALL. THAT PUTS PEOPLES SAFETY AT RISQUE BECAUSE OF THERE UNWILLINGNESS TO FIX THE PROBLEM DUE TO THE COMPANIES BOTTOM LINE.

TL* TAKATA RECALL. THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 VOLKSWAGEN CC. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
TIMING BELT TENSIONER FAILED DUE TO THE ORIG DESIGN OF THE PART. VOLKSWAGEN KNEW IT WAS AN ISSUE AND REDESIGNED THE PART. BUT THEY LEFT THE ORIGINAL PURCHASER WITH THE ORIG DEFECTIVE PART. WHEN THAT PART FAILS, IT CAUSES A CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE. WHICH LEAVES THE ORIG PURCHASER TO REPLACE THEIR ENGINES AT THEIR OWN COST. THE FACT THAT THE PART FAILS WHILE DRIVING IS A SAFETY ISSUE, IT CAUSES THE CAR TO LOOSE ALL POWER REGARDLESS OF THE SPEED, DRIVING CONDITIONS AND LOCATIONS. STRANDING THE OWNER IN A POSSIBLY PRECARIOUS SITUATION THAT COULD CAUSE INJURY OR DEATH.
FOR NO APPARENT REASON, STEERING CLOCK SPRING CEASED FUNCTION, RESULTING IN THE LOSS OF STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS, BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY, THE HORN AND DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG. UPON INTERNET SEARCH, THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM, STARTING AT 50,000 MILES.
IGNITION COIL FAILURE ON NUMBER TWO CYLINDER. REPLACED ALL FOUR IGNITION COILS AS RECOMMENDED BY DEALER.
I WAS NOTIFIED BY VW THAT MY AIRBAG WAS MADE BY TAKADA AND WAS RECALLED, NEEDED REPLACEMENT. BUT THEY ALSO TOLD ME THAT VW HAD NO PART. IT'S BEEN DRAGGED ON UNTIL THIS DAY. PLEASE HELP.
STEERING COLUMN LOCK DEFECTIVE WARNING KEEPS COMING ON WHEN STARTING VEHICLE AND SOMETIMES WHEN VEHICLE IS IN MOTION.

2011 VW SPORT CC - LESS THAN 52,000 MILES. STALLS WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE. DEALER ADVISED TIMING CHAIN ISSUES AND WHILE REPAIRING THE ENGINE THEY HAD TO REPLACE UNRELIABLE PARTS. KNOWN ISSUE BUT NONE UNDER RECALL. THEY SAID A SCREEN SHATTERED IN THE ENGINE, A KNOWN ISSUE IS WHAT CAUSED ALL OF THIS. ALL MANUFACTURING ERROR. CUSTOMER CARE ADMITTED THAT AND SO DID THE DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT. QUOTE $1400. THEN THE NEXT DAY THEY "DISCOVERED" THE CAR NEEDED A NEW CAM SHAFT. NEW QUOTE $2200. NOTHING UNDER WARRANTY/RECALL . VW CUSTOMER CARE TOLD ME TO SAVE MY RECEIPTS INCASE A RECALL COMES ABOUT BUT DID NOT CARE ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THE CAR OR THE FACT THEY ARE REPLACING UNRELIABLE PARTS. IF THEY KNOW THEY ARE UNRELIABLE WHY ARE THEY NOT ON RECALL. WROTE A LETTER TO THE CEO AND GOT THE COST REDUCED TO $1400. RECEIPT SHOWS ONE PRICE NO BREAK DOWN OF COSTS AND WAS TOLD I COULD NOT HAVE THE PARTS BACK, EVEN THOUGH I JUST PAID $1400 FOR THEM. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT WAS UNDER WARRANTY OR RECALL OR WAS IT ALL LABOR COST. VW DOES NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS. AND BY THE WAY THE AIR BAG IS STILL NOT REPAIRED, THAT IS UNDER RECALL. SAFETY IN VW - ZERO. *TR

I AM RECEIVING THE ERROR MESSAGE STEERING COLUMN LOCK DEFECTIVE. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THIS WAS PART OF A RECALL, THEN REVOKED THE STATEMENT AT A LATER TIME.I HAVE SEEN OTHER COMPLAINTS AND WONDER IF THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL. SEEMS TO BE A SPORADIC ERROR. *TR
TAKATA RECALL. RECALL DATE WAS FEBRUARY 9, 2016 AND THERE IS STILL NO RESOLUTION. THIS IS AFFECTING THE TRADE-IN VALUE OF MY VEHICLE BY $2,000 AND SEEMS TO BE TAKING TOO LONG TO RESOLVE.
REAR MAIN SEAL LEAK AT 69K MILES. I BEEN DOING A RESEARCH AND MANY CARS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THAT ENGINE. (TSI 2.0) WHICH TO MY BELIEVE IT'S DUE TO A MANUFACTURER DEFECT AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED AS A RECALL. CAR IS FAIRLY NEW TO BE HAVING A PROBLEM LIKE THIS WHICH IS COSTING ME TO REPAIR MORE THAN $1000 DOLLARS. ALSO THE PCV VALVE IS HAVING ISSUES. WHICH I HAD TO REPLACE ALREADY SPENDING $400 DOLLARS. *TR
TAKATA RECALL. I AM IN A POSITION WHERE I CANNOT TRADE IN MY CAR DUE TO THIS RECALL. IT IS FRUSTRATING AS I HAVE A NEW JOB I DO A LOT OF DRIVING AND WAS LOOKING TO GET A SAFER MORE ECONOMICAL AWD CAR. I AM AT A LOSS THAT I AM STUCK UNTIL THERE IS A FIX WHICH HAS NO ESTIMATED TIME FRAME. *TR

TAKATA AIR BAG RECALL. I LIVE IN FLORIDA AND IT HAS BEEN REPORTED THAT STATES WITH HIGH HUMIDLY AND HOTTER TEMPERATURES CAN CAUSE THE AIR BAGS TO IMPLODE. BASED ON THE AFOREMENTIONED AS WELL AS THE ACTUAL RECALL I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHEN THIS WILL BE RECTIFIED. MANY OF MY FRIENDS HAVE HAD THEIR VEHICLES RECALL FOR AIRBAGS REPAIRED OR AT LEAST PROVIDED A RENTAL CAR UNTIL A FIX IS AVAILABLE. VW HAS OFFERED ME NOTHING.

THEY ASKED ME TO GET A NEW CAR AND OF COURSE I HAVE TO PAY FOR THE NEW CAR THEY SAID, I DIDN'T EVEN FINISH PAYING FOR MY AFFECTED ONE YET... I'M REALLY DISAPPOINTED, ANGRY, ESPECIALLY THAT I NEED THIS CAR FOR MY WORK ... I STILL LEFT THE CAR THERE IN ORDER FOR THEM CHECK WHAT NEEDS TO BE FIXED AND OF COURSE THEY SAID I HAVE TO PAY FOR IT... WHAT CUSTOMER SERVICE IS THIS ????!!!
TAKATA RECALL - TODAY AFTER ENDLESS WAITING FOR THE DEALER TO BE ABLE TO REPAIR THE AIRBAGS IN OUR 2011 VW CC MY WIFE AND I DECIDED TO TRADE THIS CAR IN AS WE FELT THE RISK FOR AIRBAG RELATED INJURIES IN THE EVENT OF A DEPLOYMENT WERE NOT WORTH KEEPING THE CAR. WE WERE SHOCKED TO FIND THAT DEALERSHIPS WILL NOT EVEN TAKE THIS CAR IN ON TRADE DUE TO THE OPEN RECALL WITHOUT REMEDY. WE FEEL WE ARE NOW FORCED TO DRIVE A VEHICLE WITH A KNOWN SAFETY DEFECT THAT INCREASES OUR CHANCE OF INJURY AND/OR DEATH IN THE EVENT OF AN AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT. I ASKED A LOCAL VW DEALER TO BUY THE CAR BUT THEIR OFFER WAS FAR BELOW FAIR VALUE BECAUSE THEY STATED THE CAR WOULD HAVE TO SIT UNTIL THEY COULD FIX THE ISSUE. THEY OFFER NO BUY BACK PROGRAM THAT IS FAIR TO THE CONSUMER OR LOANER CAR UNTIL THIS COULD BE RESOLVED. AGAIN RESULTING IS MY FAMILY BEING FORCED TO DRIVE A VEHICLE WITH A KNOWN SAFETY ISSUE. I AM SHOCKED BY THIS BEING ALLOWED. I SPOKE WITH VW CUSTOMER SERVICE CENTER WHO ALSO OFFERED NO TIMEFRAME OR OPTIONS FOR ME AND MY FAMILY. I FAULT NOT ONLY TAKATA FOR NOT SUPPLYING THE REPLACEMENT PARTS IN A TIMELY MANNER BUT ALSO VOLKSWAGEN FOR NOT OFFERING ANY VIABLE OPTIONS FOR ME TO MAKE SURE MY FAMILY IS TRAVELING IN A SAFE VEHICLE. PLEASE PUT PRESSURE OF BOTH TAKATA AND THE MANUFACTURES TO REMEDY THIS SITUATION QUICKLY SO WE CAN EITHER GET OUR VEHICLE REPAIRED OR TRADE IT IN FOR A VEHICLE THAT IS SAFE TO DRIVE. THANK YOU, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR

STARTED THE CAR AND THE RED STEERING WHEEL LIGHT CAME ON. I HAVE NO POWER STEERING. TURNED THE CAR OFF, RESTARTED AND POWER STEERING WAS ACTIVE AND RED LIGHT WAS OFF BUT THE EFFORT TO TURN WAS LIGHTER THAN NORMAL. THE NEXT TIME WE STARTED THE CAR WE HAD NO POWER STEERING AGAIN. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS, WHEN IT DOES WORK IT OVER CORRECTS THE STEERING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. WHEN NOT WORKING MY WIFE CAN NOT TURN THE WHEEL. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED A SHORT IN THE STEERING RACK. $2000 TO FIX SOMETHING THAT SHOULD LAST AT LEAST 100,000 MILES.

MY 2.0L TSI TIMING CHAIN TENSIONER FAILED CAUSING TIMING CHAIN TO JUMP TIMING AND DAMAGING OTHER ENGINE PARTS. I WAS DRIVING WHEN THE ENGINE LIGHT AND NOISE CAME IN.
A LITTLE OVER A MONTH AGO, I WAS LEAVING WORK AND CAME TO A STOP LIGHT. I ACCELERATED TO GO AFTER THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN AND THE CC STARTED TO ACCELERATE, AND THEN WITH NO WARNING, IT COMPLETELY LOCKED DOWN AND STALLED. I WAS ABLE TO CRANK IT BACK UP AND WENT HOME WITHOUT INCIDENT. THERE WERE NO WARNING MESSAGES, LIGHTS...ANYTHING TO INDICATE A PROBLEM. LATER THAT DAY, I TOOK MY DAUGHTER TO DANCE AND EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE. I WAS ABLE TO TURN AROUND AND THE NEXT DAY WE PUT THE CAR IN THE SHOP. THE MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT IT WAS HAPPENING DUE TO AN OIL CAP NOT BEING PLACED IN RIGHT AFTER AN OIL CHANGE. THIS WAS FIXED, AND THE CAR PERFORMED OKAY FOR ABOUT A WEEK, AND THEN STALLED AGAIN; SAME CIRCUMSTANCE: MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC, AFTER A STOP, NO WARNING. THE CAR WENT BACK INTO THE SHOP. THIS TIME THE MECHANIC DETERMINED IT WAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE TURBO SEAL. THIS WAS 'FIXED'. CAR WAS RETURNED AND AGAIN WAS OKAY FOR ABOUT A WEEK. IT ONCE AGAIN STALLED. SAME CIRCUMSTANCE. THIS TIME, THE MECHANIC STATED HE DIDN'T KNOW WHAT WAS WRONG WITH IT. WE THEN TOOK THE CAR IN TO SOMEONE WHO SPECIALIZES IN VW. HE DETERMINED IT WAS A DEFECTIVE FUEL SENSOR. HE REPLACED THE SENSOR AND WE HAD THE CAR RETURNED TO US TODAY. IT DIED ON MY HUSBAND IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. IT IS NOW BACK IN THE SHOP, BUT THE MECHANIC STATES HE HAS NO IDEA WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT; IT IS SHOWING NO ERROR CODES. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO AT THIS POINT. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS PROBLEM AND IT APPEARS TO BE COMMON IN VW CCS. HOW HAS THIS NOT BEEN A RECALL ISSUE? THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS; THERE IS NO WARNING WHEN IT COMPLETELY LOCKS DOWN. NOT TOO SAFE IN 5PM RUSH HOUR BUMPER TO BUMPER TRAFFIC.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 VOLKSWAGEN CC. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED, THE ERROR MESSAGE "STEERING WHEEL CLOCK SPRING DEFECTIVE " DISPLAYED ACROSS THE INSTRUMENT PANEL INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V483000 (AIR BAGS); HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.
DRIVING ALONG PUSH GAS NO RESPONDS CAR LIGHTS COME ON CAR NOT IN GEAR. ON HIGHWAY NO PHOTOS BUT THE 08 & 09 WERE RECALLED FOR THE SAME REASON.
WHILE DRIVING MY VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY, THE COMPUTER FLASHED A WARNING THAT THERE IS A PARKING BREAK ERROR AND THE VEHICLE PROCEEDED TO STOP. WHEN PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE. FOLLOWING THE REPEATED ( OVER 6 TIMES) SHUTTING DOWN AND RESTARTING OF THE CAR THE PARKING ERROR WARNING AND THE ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED AND VEHICLE ONCE AGAIN PROCEEDED TO STOP AND NO FORWARD MOTION TOOK PLACE WHEN GAS PEDAL WAS PRESSED. VEHICLE SHUT DOWN ON TWO MAJOR HIGHWAYS AT HIGH TRAFFIC/ RUSH HOUR TIMES. FOLLOWING THESE INCIDENTS THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BY SUNRISE VOLKSWAGEN DEALERSHIP. THEY PREFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC AND REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP INJECTION SYSTEM. THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO ME AND A LITTLE OVER A MONTH LATER (OCTOBER 22ND) THE SAME PROBLEM REOCCURRED ONCE AGAIN SHUTTING DOWN MULTIPLE TIMES ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY ARE CURRENTLY WORKING ON ANOTHER DIAGNOSTIC. IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT IN ADDITION TO THIS PROBLEM, PRIOR MALFUNCTION HAS RESULTED IN REPLACEMENT OF THE ENTIRE ENGINE IN THIS VEHICLE. I'VE ALSO EXPERIENCED SEVERAL COOLANT SYSTEM ISSUES FOR WHICH I HAVE HAD TO RETURN TO THE DEALERSHIP REPEATEDLY. I AM EXTREMELY CONCERNED REGARDING THE SAFETY OF THIS VEHICLE DUE TO THE LOSS OF ACCELERATION WHILE IN MOTION AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. EACH TIME I'M TOLD THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN RESOLVED, I AM EXPOSED TO POSSIBLE HIGHWAY FATALITY AS I RESUME DRIVING. MY SUGGESTION THAT THE VEHICLE BE REPLACED WAS REJECTED AND EACH ATTEMPT AT REPAIR HAS PROVEN TO BE UNSUCCESSFUL IN RESOLVING THE PROBLEMS.
ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS, VEHICLE FAILED TO START, BUT DISPLAYED A "STEERING WHEEL LOCK DEFECTIVE" ALERT. WHEN KEY IS REMOVED AND REPLACED IN THE IGNITION, IT WILL THEN START. IN ADDITION, THE ENGINE IS NOW IN NEED OF REPLACEMENT DUE TO OIL RUNNING LOW. THE VEHICLE WAS MAINTAINED ON ITS REGULAR 10,000 MILE SCHEDULE AND DID NOT GIVE ANY WARNINGS OR ALERTS. IT ALTOGETHER FAILED TO START AND GAVE ONLY A SHAKING/RATTLING NOISE WHEN TRYING TO CRANK. IN ALL INSTANCES, THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY.
RECEIVING A STEERING LOCK MSG WHEN ATTEMPTING TO START THE CAR , RECENTLY RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE AND WHEN CALLED TO OBTAIN ADDITIONAL INFORMATION THE SERVICE TECHS ADVISED IT WOULD COST 122.71 TO RUN THE DIAGNOSIS. WHEN I PROTESTED I WAS ADVISED THAT THE RECALL DID NOT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE STEERING COLUMN BUT A SPRING IN THE STEERING WHICH WOULD NOT CAUSE THIS ERROR! I'M NOT SURE HOW THEY RUN THEIR BUSINESS BUT IF A RECALL IS INVOLVING A STEERING COLUMN LOCK AND THE CUSTOMER IS RECEIVING A ERROR REGARDING THE STEERING COLUMN LOCK FAILURE, SHOULDN'T THE DEALER BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DIAGNOSIS AND IF IT TURNED OUT TO BE SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT THE CUSTOMER TO BE ALERTED AND PROVIDED REPAIR OPTIONS IF NEEDED? THEN THE REP CALLING ME BACK IS FUMBLING ON HER STATEMENT TO ATTEMPT TO ASSURE ME THAT MY ISSUE IS NOT EXACTLY WHAT THE RECALL IS...HOW WOULD SHE KNOW IF THE RECALL IS REGARDING A STEERING COLUMN ISSUE AND I AM RECEIVING A STEERING COLUMN FAILURE MESSAGE? WOULD A DIAGNOSTIC TEST NEED TO BE RUN? CHECKERED FLAG VOLKSWAGEN OF VA BEACH REALLY SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS TYPE OF DIAGNOSIS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 VOLKSWAGEN CC. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE CONTACT BECAME DISTRACTED AND CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONTACT DID NOT SUSTAIN ANY INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE AND TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE THE CAUSE OF THE AIR BAG FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE BUMPER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000.
AT 9:30 AM ON SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 13, 2015 I WAS TRAVELING DOWN THE ROAD, AND THE CAR CUT OFF. TWO (2) ATTEMPTS TO RESTART THE CAR WERE UNSUCCESSFUL. AFTER AN HOURS WAIT (FOR AAA), ATTEMPTED TO RE-START THE CAR AND IT STARTED. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT AND NO USUAL NOISES. THE CAR JUST STOPPED RUNNING. THIS NOT NECESSARILY A COMPLAINT, BUT A REPORT FOR POSSIBLE RECALL RESEARCH PURPOSES. THANK YOU. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 VOLKSWAGEN CC. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AS THE STEERING WHEEL LOCK DEFECTIVE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 49,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
WHILE TURNING ONTO A MAJOR INTERSECTION, A RED STEERING WHEEL LIGHT POPPED UP ON MY DASH DISPLAY AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED IMMEDIATELY... IT TOOK A GREAT DEAL OF STRENGTH TO GET MY CAR TO SAFETY IN A PARKING LOT BEFORE THE STEERING WHEEL COULD NOT BE MOVED AT ALL. CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP I BOUGHT IT FROM AS I ONLY HAD THE CAR FOR 2 DAYS. *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS STOPPED FUNCTIONING TO INCLUDE MY HORN, AIRBAG, ESP, AND TRACTION CONTROL. AFTER RESEARCHING THE WEB I FOUND THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE ON ALL VW MODELS AND OCCURS AROUND 40,000 MILES. APPARENTLY THE VW CLOCKSPRING IN THE STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY HAS A DESIGN FLAW, AND THERE IS NO RECALL AT THIS TIME. *TR
DRIVING AT 65 MPH SUDDENLY THE STEERING WHEEL SYSTEM WAS BLOCKED. BECOME VERY HARD TO MOVE THE STEERING WHEEL & ALSO VERY NOISE WHEN I WAS TRYING TO MOVE IT. THE CAR WAS TOOK TO DEALER AND THEY SAID. THAT THE STEERING GEAR BOX FAILED. LATER ON THE CUSTOMER SERVICE FREE PHONE LINE OF VW SAID THAT WAS A QUALITY ISSUE. THEY SAID ARE NOT LEGALLY RESPONSIBLE BECAUSE IS NOT WITHIN WARRANTY PERIOD. CC VW CAR SEEMS VERY UNSAFE CAR. *TR
FOR THE FOURTH TIME I HAVE GONE TO GET MY CAR CHECKED OUT, AND THE PROBLEM ISN'T GETTING RESOLVED. THERE'S A CONSTANT RATTLING, THAT MAKES THE CAR SEEMED UNBALANCED OF SORTS. ALSO MY TIRES ARE GETTING USED UP, VERY RAPIDLY AS LITTLE AS 2-3 MONTHS. THEY SAY THEY KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS, BUT STILL MY CAR NEEDS TO BE BROUGHT IN FOR THE SAME THING. *TR
THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR FELL OFF WHEN THE HINGE SNAPPED UPON OPENING. ALSO, THE UNDER BODY SHIELD FELL OFF, EXPOSING THE BRAKE LINES TO ROAD DEBRIS THAT MAY HIT IT. *TR
COMPLETE FAILURE OF THE BRAKES. TRIED TO STOP AT 90 DEGREE TURN AND PEDAL WENT WITHIN TWO INCHES OF THE FLOOR. CAR HAD ALMOST NO BRAKES. WENT OFF THE ROAD BUT WAS ABLE TO KEEP IT OUT OF 6 FOOT DITCH. CAR WAS TOWED TO DEALER AND I WAS TOLD THAT A FAILURE IN THE VACUUM PUMP CAUSED THE PROBLEM. THIS FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY A BROKEN PART INSIDE. NO WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON. NO WARNING OF FAILURE WHATSOEVER. VW TREATED IT LIKE IT WAS THE SAME AS A FLAT TIRE. I FELT IT WAS A SAFETY ISSUE AND ASKED TO BE REMOVED FROM THE REMAINDER OF THE LEASE. I WAS TOLD THEY DON'T DO THAT. I TRADED THE CAR FOR ANOTHER VEHICLE AS I FELT THE VW CC WAS COMPLETELY UNSAFE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 VOLKSWAGEN CC. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL BECAME STUCK AS THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE HAD TO PULL ON THE PEDAL IN ORDER TO RELEASE IT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEALER WHO DID NOT PROVIDE A DIAGNOSIS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO STATED THEY WOULD CONTACT HIM AT A LATER DATE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 19,678. UPDATED 05/02/12*BF THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED A HEADLINER CLIP HAD BECOME LOST DURING THE REPLACEMENT OF THE HEADLINER AND HAD BECOME LODGED BEHIND THE FOOT PEDAL. UPDATED 05/11/12
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 VOLKSWAGEN CC. THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED WORKING; HOWEVER, THEY RESUMED WHEN THE CONTACT ACCELERATED AT 10 MPH OR MORE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHENEVER HE DROVE BELOW 10 MPH AND WHEN THE VEHICLE STOPPED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE TECHNICIAN COULD NOT DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED A TECHNICIAN WOULD COMMUNICATE WITH THE DEALER FOR A POSSIBLE RESOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100. THE CONSUMER STATED WHEN HE SET THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS IN THE LOW POSITION, THEY OPERATED SUFFICIENTLY AS LONG AS HE WAS DRIVING, BUT WHEN HE STOPPED AT BUSY INTERSECTIONS, STOP SIGNS OR FOR ANY REASON THE WIPERS WOULD SHUT OFF COMPLETELY, LEAVING NO VISIBILITY THROUGH THE FRONT WINDSHIELD. THE CONSUMER STATED HE REMAINED WITHOUT VISION UNTIL HE MOVED SEVERAL FEET INTO THE INTERSECTION. THE DEALER RESOLVED THE ISSUE, BUT REFUSED TO ADMIT THERE WAS A PROBLEM. UPDATED 11/15/11
