The contact owns a 2012 BMW 750I. The contact stated that while stopped in traffic, a wildfire began to approach his vehicle. The contact then stated that white smoke obstructed his vision on the highway. As the contact depressed the accelerator pedal, the vehicle stalled with the transmission disengaged message on the instrument panel. The contact restarted the vehicle three times before the transmission re-engaged and the contact was able to escape the thick smoke that had covered his vehicle. The contact called the dealer and spoke to a service advisor who stated that the heat from the fire caused the vehicle to stall. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure and referred him back to the dealer for an inspection. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 56,000.
VEHICLE CONSUMES LARGE AMOUNTS OF OIL. MOST OIL BURNS AND RELEASES FROM THE EXHAUST WHEN DRIVING.. ENGINE REQUIRES A REPLACEMENT FROM BMW.
THERE IS WHITE SMOKE THAT IS COMING OUT OF THE BACK PIPES OF THE CAR. THE CAR IS BURNING THROUGH OIL. I AM PUTTING A QUART IN EVERY 2 -3 WEEKS. MY MECHANIC SAID THAT IT IS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS AS THE 2009 MODEL. THE 2009 750I HAS BEEN RECALLED TO FIX THE ENGINE PROBLEM AND I HAVE A 2012 MODEL. THE SMOKE COMES OUT WHEN I AM DRIVING NOT WHEN IT IS STATIONARY ON THE CITY STREET, HIGHWAY OR WHEREVER. I DON'T FEEL SAFE. I AM GOING TO START DRIVING MORE DISTANCE AND I DON'T WANT TO RUN OUT OF OIL AND CAUSE MORE DAMAGE TO MY CAR. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT IS HAPPENING WITH THE OIL CONSUMPTION. THERE ARE OTHER ISSUES SURROUNDING THE CAR. I AM NOT A MECHANIC. BUT, I WOULD LIKE TO FILE A COMPLAINT. THIS CAR WAS SUPPOSED TO BE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION WHEN I BOUGHT IT.
THE TRANSFER CASE ON MY CAR STUTTERS WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOPPED POSITION OR UNDER MODERATE TO HEAVY BREAKING. TRACTION ON SNOW BECOMES LIMITED BECAUSE THE STUTTERING CAUSE TIRES TO HAVE MORE OR LESS POWER SPONTANEOUSLY. THIS STUTTERING WAS CONFIRMED TO BE A DEFECTIVE TRANSFER CASE WHEN UNPLUGGING THE TRANSFER CASE MODULE. BMW CONFIRMED THE TRANSFER CASE AS DEFECTIVE. THE VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAS UNDER 56,000 AT THE TIME OF THIS POSTING.
LOW ENGINE OIL COMES ON EVERY FEW MONTHS AND I HAVE TO ADD OIL AT THAT TIME. I DON'T KNOW WHERE THE OIL IS GOING BUT LEVEL IS DOWN TO MINIMUM. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR THE PAST TWO YEARS, SINCE I PURCHASED THE CAR.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. BMW OF ONTARIO (1350 AUTO CENTER DR, ONTARIO, CA 91761, (909) 906-4000) WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL REMEDY. ON JANUARY 10TH 2018, MY BMW (2012, 750I), SPONTANEOUSLY COMBUSTED IN OUR GARAGE, UNDER MY SON'S BEDROOMS, AFTER NOT BEING ON FOR 14.5 HOURS. *BF *TR
I HAD TO REPLACE THE GASKETS WHICH COST THOUSANDS AND MY CAR STILL SMELLS LIKE ITS BURNING OIL AND WHEN I PRESS THE GAS THE CAR HESITATES AND I WAS JUST ON THE HIGHWAY TOOK THE CAR TO 70 MILES AND HOUR AND POWERTRAIN MALFUCTION CAME UP AND THE CAR STARTED SHAKING MY CAR ON HAS 80,000 MILES ON IT AND AFTER SPENDING ALL THIS MONEY AT BOW REPAIR SHOP STILL HAVING PROBLEMS. I HAVE DRIVEN THE CAR ONLY 2,000 MILES SINCE THE WORK WAS DONE AND STILL PROBLEMS
TOOK VEHICLE TO NEW MOTORS BMW, ERIE, PA BECAUSE OF EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION. WAS TOLD THE SEALS WERE BAD AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. REPAIR WAS COMPLETED BY NEW MOTORS AND PICKED UP 7/1/17. ON 7/8/17 I WAS TRAVELING AT 55 MPH ON I 90. FELT A LAPSE IN POWER AND THEN HEARD A GRINDING NOISE FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND AFTER EXITING I 90 THE VEHICLE STALLED AND WOULD NOT RESTART. CAR WAS RETURNED TO NEW MOTORS AND WAS NOTIFIED THAT A PISTON HAD EXPLODED AND PENETRATED THE ENGINE BLOCK. AFTER RESEARCHING I LEARNED THAT THERE INHERENT PROBLEMS WITH THE N63 ENGINE WHICH THE CAR HAS AND BMW SKIRTED A RECALL FOR THE N63 PROBLEM BY THEIR VOLUNTARY N63 CUSTOMER CARE PACKAGE WHICH HAD BEEN PREVIOUSLY COMPLETED BY NEW MOTORS. HOWEVER, THE N63 CCP WORK DID NOT FIX THE INHERENT OIL LEAKAGE/CONSUMPTION PROBLEMS. NEW MOTORS AND BMW NA ARE BOTH NEGLIGENT FOR NOT EFFECTIVELY ADDRESSING/CORRECTING THE KNOWN DEFECT AND PUT MYSELF AND OTHER DRIVERS IN HARMS WAY BY PUTTING THE 2012 BMW 750 IX ON THE ROAD WITH THE PISTON THAT EVENTUALLY EXPLODED AND SHOT THROUGH THE ENGINE BLOCK. AND, SINCE BMW'S N63 CCP HAS NOT EFFECTIVELY ADDRESSED THE INHERENT PROBLEM AND FOR PUBLIC SAFETY, A RECALL IS IN ORDER TO FORCE BMW TO CURE THE PROBLEM BEFORE SOMEONE IS SEVERELY INJURED OR KILLED AS A RESULT OF THE KNOWN ENGINE DEFECT.
DEALER REPORTED THAT MOISTURE ENTERED A WATERPROOF ENCLOSURE THAT HOUSES THE BRAKE MODULATOR. WATER ENTERED THRU A DRAIN HOLE FROM THE COWL AND BYPASSED A PLATE MEANT TO KEEP WATER OUT. ONCE EFFECTED BY MOISTURE THE MODULATOR SHUT DOWN ALL FUNCTIONS OF THE CAR INCLUDING THE ENGINE WHILE MOVING. BMW BLAMED IT ON PARTIAL SUBMERSION OF THE MODULATOR BUT CAR WAS NEVER EFFECTED BY WATER/SUBMERSION AND THE DEALER AGREED THAT THEIR WAS NO EVIDENCE OF THAT AND COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING TO SUPPORT THAT CONDITION. UPON REPAIR DEALER WENT TO GREAT LENGTHS TO TRY AND SEAL COMPARTMENT AND INSTALL DIVERTER THAT WAS REPLACED IN THE REPAIR TO PREVENT REOCCURRENCE. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS CONDITION THAT APPEARS TO BE A MANUFACTURING DEFECT IN MANUFACTURE ON A VERY LIMITED NUMBER OF CARS MADE BY BMW FOR THIS SPECIFIC MODEL. OWNERS NEED TO KNOW THAT THE CONDITIONS EXPERIENCED HAVE A MUCH DIFFERENT EFFECT ON SAFETY DUE TO THE HYBRID DESIGN THAN A STANDARD NON HYBRID CAR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 BMW 750IX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE IDLED WHENEVER THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE. ALSO, WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE ENGINE WOULD BACKFIRE AND THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER REPAIRED THE SOLENOID VALVE, FUEL INJECTORS, CONTROL AIR BUSHINGS, AND AIR TAKE BOX AMONG OTHER REPAIRS; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AGAIN WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,100.
CAR WAS BEING DRIVEN ON A STREET AND SUDDENLY STOPPED MADE A LOUD NOISE VIOLENTLY JERKING UP AND DOWN DRIVE SHAFT WENT THRU THE FLOOR U BOLTS CAME UNDONE AND EXHAUST SYSTEM DAMAGED HAD TO BE TOWED FROM SCENE $10,000 WORTH OF DAMAGE
ABNORMAL OIL CONSUMPTION. SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER WHILE DRIVING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 BMW 750IX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR FAILED TO LATCH. THE DEALER REPLACED THE DOOR LATCH, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED TWICE. DURING THE SECOND VISIT, THE DEALER REPLACED THE DOOR LATCH AND DOOR LATCH CABLE. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO LOCATE THE DEFECTIVE PART PERTAINING TO THE DOOR LATCH FOR THE MOST RECENT FAILURE, EVEN THOUGH THE DOOR FAILED TO CLOSE PROPERLY. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,200.
ON OR ABOUT THE ABOVE DATE, I TRIED TO DRIVE MY NEW CAR IN 2 INCHES OF SNOW,UP A MODERATE GRADE. DESPITE THE TRACTION CONTROL AND HAVING BRAND NEW TIRES, THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO MOVE ANYWAY BUT SIDEWAYS. THE VEHICLE WAS UNFIT FOR ITS PURPOSE AND USE. COMPLAINTS TO THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER HAVE BEEN IGNORED.
