2012 E350 FORD WITH 69 K MILES AND BEFORE I REACHED 70 K MILES THE TRANSMISSION FROZE UP. THE FORWARD PLANETARY ASSEMBLY BEARING FAILED. THIS IS COVERED UNDER FORD?S CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 12N04. I BEING THE 3RD OWNER, I DID NOT KNOW OF THIS FORD PROGRAM WHEN THE TRANS FAILED. THE TRANS FAILED BLOCK FROM COMMUNITY TRANSMISSIONS IN BELLFLOWER, I DROVE IN AND HAD THE REPAIR WORK DONE. TOTAL $2012.70. NO PROBLEMS WITH THEM. I NEVER RECEIVED THE FORD CUSTOMER SATISFACTION LETTER. I CALLED FORD IN DETROIT AND THEY FIRST SAID I WOULD BE COVERED. I WAS INSTRUCTED TO TAKE THE REPAIR BILL AND OLD PARTS TO CARUSO FORD AS THEY HAVE TO FILE A CLAIM FOR ME. AFTER WAITING A MONTH, I CALLED FORD DETROIT AGAIN AND FOUND OUT THAT CARUSO FORD SAID THAT I AM NOT COVERED. I SPOKE WITH RICHARD WHO IS MY SERVICE WRITER AT CARUSO FORD, LONG BEACH. FIRST, HE SAID I WAS NOT COVERED BECAUSE I DO NOT MEET THE TIME AND MILEAGE LIMITS IN THE LETTER. I POINTED OUT THAT MY FORD DOES MEET THE 6 YEAR AND 150 K LIMITS IN THE LETTER. THEN RICHARD SAID I HAD THE REPAIR DONE ON A MONDAY AND ALL FORD DEALERS ARE OPEN ON MONDAY AND I COULD HAVE HAD THE REPAIR DONE FOR FREE AT A FORD DEALER. RICHARD THEN SAID THAT FORD DETROIT SAID THAT I AM NOT COVERED. PASSING THE BUCK! I ASKED TO SPEAK WITH THE CARUSO FORD SERVICE MANAGER, AND WAS TOLD HE WOULD CALL ME. I NEVER GOT A CALL FROM HIM. I CALL FORD DETROIT AGAIN AND ASKED TO SPEAK WITH A SUPERVISOR, I WAS TOLD SUPERVISOR ROBERT WOULD CALL ME. I NEVER GOT A CALL FROM HIM. THE FORD SATISFACTION LETTER STATES THAT ?IF YOU HAVE PAID TO HAVE THIS SERVICE DONE BEFORE THE DATE OF THIS LETTER, THEN YOU MAYBE ELIGIBLE FOR A REFUND.? I RECEIVED NO LETTER. I DID NOT KNOW ABOUT THE CUSTOMER SATISFACTION LETTER UNTIL AFTER I HAD THE REPAIR WORK DONE. I FEEL THAT FORD IS NOT LIVING UP TO THE INTENT OF THEIR LETTER. *TR
RENTED BUDGET TRUCK IN ALABAMA ON 8/30. DROVE FROM ALABAMA TO IOWA. RENTED AN AUTO TRANSPORT IN ADDITION TO THE FORD E-350 (2012). THE E-350 WAS THE ONLY ONE AVAILABLE AND I NEEDED TO TAKE IT BECAUSE I HAD NO OTHER OPTION BUT TO MOVE ON THAT DATE. THE E-350 HAD THE FOLLOWING DANGEROUS ISSUES: 1) NEARLY BALD FRONT LEFT TIRE. 2) WINDSHIELD WIPERS DID NOT RELIABLY CLEAR RAIN FROM WINDSHIELD (BLURRED VISION) 3) HAD TO MANUALLY PUMP FUEL EVERY 1/2 GALLON. THE FUEL PUMP WOULD CUT OFF EVERY 1/2 GALLON EVEN THOUGH THE TRUCK WAS HALF FULL OF FUEL. THIS HAPPENED AT TWO DIFFERENT GAS STATIONS. 4) THE AUTO TRANSPORT WAS RUSTED AND APPEARED TO HAVE NEVER BEEN INSPECTED THOROUGHLY. 5) THE AUTO TRANSPORT WAS RENTED TO ME WITH LOW TIRE PRESSURE IN THE RIGHT SIDE TIRES. 6) THE AUTO TRANSPORT HAD DEFECTIVE RATCHET STRAPS WHICH WERE USED FOR THE SECURING OF THE TOWED VEHICLE. 7) THE AUTO TRANSPORT'S TONGUE JACK WAS DAMAGED WITH BENT METAL WHERE THE CONNECTION PIN WAS LOCATED. WHILE I GOT TO MY DESTINATION SAFELY, I USED VERY SAFE DRIVING TECHNIQUES IN ORDER TO ENSURE THAT NEITHER I NOR MY WIFE WERE INJURED DURING OUR DRIVE. SHE DROVE IN A SEPARATE CAR AND WOULD DRIVE NEXT TO THE E-350 TO INSPECT THE INTEGRITY OF THE RATCHET STRAPS ON THE AUTO TRANSPORT EVERY 20 MILES TO ENSURE THEY WERE STILL WORKING. I HAVE DRIVEN MANY VEHICLES IN MY LIFETIME, EVEN MILITARY VEHICLES, AND I HAVE NEVER FELT SO UNSAFE AS I DID IN THIS BUDGET TRUCK RENTAL WITH AUTO TRANSPORT. THIS WAS ONE OF THE WORST EXPERIENCES OF MY DRIVING HISTORY AND I WILL NEVER RENT FROM BUDGET TRUCK RENTAL AGAIN. *TR

FIRST INSTANCE OF ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WAS FAILURE OF NEW LED TV. RV WAS IN GIANT RV SHOP IN COLTON FROM JAN 14 TO FEB 12. ON DRIVE HOME, NOTICED THAT RADIO & REAR VIEW MONITOR WOULD NOT WORK. ON SHORE POWER, RADIO WOULD FUNCTION BUT NOT REAR VIEW MONITOR W/OR W/OUT CHASSIS ON. COACH BATTERIES ENDED UP DRAINED. RADIO & REAR VIEW STARTED TO WORK, BUT YOU WERE UNABLE TO SEE ANYTHING AT NIGHT WITH REAR VIEW MONITOR. THOR CONCIERGE ARRANGED A REPAIR AT J&L RV IN FONTANA FOR A WEEK ENDING MAR 18. CUSTOMER WAS TOLD ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FUNCTIONING NORMALLY. CUSTOMER SUBSEQUENTLY DISCOVERED THE ONLY WAY TO GET REAR VIEW MONITOR TO WORK WAS NOT ONLY HAVE THE SOURCE ON AND THE ICON FOR REAR VIEW PUSHED, BUT TO ALSO HAVE THE RADIO ON. SEVERAL CALLS TO THOR MOTOR COACH REVEALED THAT THEY CONSIDER THIS NORMAL OPERATION. CUSTOMER HAS FOUND SOURCE LIGHTS WILL NEITHER DIM NOR TURN OFF AS SYSTEM APPARENTLY LINKED TO COACH BATTERIES INSTEAD OF THROUGH ACCESSORY SWITCH ON CHASSIS. RADIO MANUAL CLEARLY STATES THIS IS NOT AN ACCEPTABLE LINKAGE. AT THIS POINT, NEITHER THE RADIO, SOURCE, OR REAR VIEW OPERATE AND THOR CONCIERGE CAN'T BE BOTHERED TO RETURN CALLS. *TR
