The speedometer went to zero when the vehicle was driven on the highway at 70MPH and the transmission would shift down the wrench symbol came on the LCD display. Had to pull over and shut the vehicle off and open the drivers door to make sure that the vehicle was fully off/reset. Started the vehicle and drove home. Dealer noted that this may be covered under the extended warranty on the lead frame issue... Since the vehicle has 167759 miles on it, that the warranty would not cover the issue (Warranty to 150000 miles). I will get the vehicle repaired at my cost since this is our family vehicle. Since this is a safety issue the warranty should be for all the vehicles that experience this issue. The vehicle was traveling on a highway and this is not an acceptable condition for the safety of my family or others around us when driving. I am confident in noting that the warranty should be amended for this issue. If this issue was caused by me due to carless driving I would not have an issue. Since this is a design/reliability issue I do not understand why I am responsible for the cost of the repair.
My gear shaft gets stuck in park as if it’s not recognizing that the break is getting pressed. It gets stuck for a while. There is no sticky substance that is causing this.

The contact stated that there was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the local dealer nor an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 16V248000 (Power train). The manufacturer had been informed of the failure and informed the contact that the Vin was not under recall. The failure mileage was approximately 164,000.

The contact owns a 2012 Ford Expedition. The contact stated while driving at 45 mph, the vehicle lost motive power and stalled. The contact had to restart the vehicle and continued to drive. However, when leaving work the failure occurred again which at that time the contact had pulled the vehicle over to the side of the road and have it towed to the local dealer who inspected the vehicle but could not duplicate the failure, but diagnosed the failure as a front end harness issue with the transmission. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 130,000.

WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY DOWNSHIFTED INTO 1ST GEAR, RPMS REVVED UP, SPEEDOMETER STOPPED WORKING, PUSHING THE GAS PEDAL TEMPORARILY HAD NO EFFECT, "FUEL LEVEL LOW" LIGHT CAME ON AND "TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR FAULT" LIGHT CAME ON. I WAS STILL ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE, THOUGH THE SPEEDOMETER WAS NOT WORKING. I STOPPED, TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE AND RESTARTED IT AND THE VEHICLE WORKED FINE. THIS EVENT HAPPENED THREE TIMES OVER THE PAST MONTH. SHEEHY FORD IN ASHLAND, VIRGINIA SAID THAT I NEEDED A NEW "LEAD FRAME" AND THAT THE CHARGE WOULD BE $900. UPON FURTHER RESEARCH, I LEARNED THAT THERE HAD BEEN A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE FOR THE 2012 FORD EXPEDITION, BUT MY 2012 EXPEDITION VIN NUMBER IS NOT PART OF THE RECALL. I BELIEVE MY VEHICLE SHOULD HAVE ALSO BEEN INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AND FIXED BY FORD. I COULD HAVE HAD A SERIOUS ACCIDENT IF THIS HAD HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED. RECALL INFORMATION FOUND ONLINE: "FORD HAS ISSUED A SAFETY RECALL FOR THE 2011-2012 FORD F-150, AND 2012 FORD EXPEDITION FOR A POTENTIAL PROBLEM WITH THE OUTPUT SPEED SENSOR IN THE TRANSMISSION'S LEAD FRAME; IN CERTAIN CONDITIONS THE PART CAN LEAD TO A TEMPORARY DOWNSHIFT INTO FIRST GEAR. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND AT HIGHER SPEEDS CAN CAUSE THE CAR TO LOSE TRACTION. I'VE BEEN FORTUNATE THAT THIS HAS ONLY HAPPENED TWICE AT 65MPH AND I WAS IN A POSITION TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITHOUT INCIDENT. THE TOTAL NUMBER OF TIMES HAS BEEN 8 IN APPROXIMATELY 2,000 MILES OF DRIVING. IF THIS HAPPENS NOW THAT SNOW AND ICE ARE ON THE ROAD, IT COULD CAUSE A CATASTROPHIC CRASH.

THE TRANSMISSION FLUSH HAS BEEN DONE AND THE RECALL FOR THE TRANSMISSION DOWNSHIFTING HAS ALSO BEEN ADDRESSED. BUT THE AFOREMENTIONED SYMPTOMS HAVE TAKEN PLACE AT LEAST TWO TIMES BEFORE THE TRANSMISSION RECALL WAS ADDRESSED AND THE TRANSMISSION FLUSH WAS DONE AND AT LEAST THREE TIMES (SO FAR) AFTER THE TRANSMISSION RECALL ISSUE WAS ADDRESSED AND AFTER THE TRANSMISSION FLUSH WAS DONE. COULD IT BE DEFECTIVE FAN CLUTCHES THAT ARE CAUSING THESE ISSUES ON EXPEDITIONS?
I HAVE THE GRACO MY RIDE 65. I HAD TO PUT THE SEAT IN MY MOTHER IN LAWS CAR AND CAN'T GET IT OUT NOW. IT SEEMS LIKE THE LATCH IT LOCKED OR STUCK. IT WILL NOT FEED ANY SLACK TO HELP REMOVE HE SEAT. NORMALLY THIS SEAT IS IN MY EXPEDITION AND A BIT EASIER TO GET OUT HOWEVER STILL VERY HARD. I HATE TO TAKE THIS SEAT OUT AND RE INSTALL OFTEN BECAUSE OF THIS SITUATION. WHILE DRIVING AT FREEWAY SPEEDS (60-65MPH) THERE'S A VERY NOTICEABLE "CLANK" WHEN THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS. ESPECIALLY WHEN DRIVING AT AN INCLINE AT 1,800-2,000 RPM. I HAVE TO KEEP VEHICLE ABOVE THAT SPEED OR AT A DIFFERENT RPM RANGE.
THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL INSTANCES. THE FIRST ONE I WAS PULLING OUT OF A PARKING LOT ONTO A MAIN ROAD WHEN THE TRANSMISSION STOPPED PULLING, ACTED LIKE IT WAS IN NEUTRAL. I PULLED OVER TURNED OFF THE ENGINE AND RESTARTED IT AND IT WAS FINE. THE NEXT WAS ON A 2 LANE HIGHWAY CRUISING AT ABOUT 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE JERKED, LOCKED UP THE REAR TIRES, WENT INTO LIMP MODE, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND CODE WAS P0270 FOR THE OUTPUT SPEED SENSOR. SYSMPTONS ARE THE SAME AS DESCRIBED IN FORDS RECALL #16S19 BUT I WAS TOLD BY FORD THAT MY VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL BECAUSE OF THE BUILD DATE ALTHOUGH THE SAME TRANSMISSION A D COMPONENTS WERE USED. THE INSTANCE HAPPENED AGAIN TODAY WITH MY WIFE AND 3 YOUNG CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE, CRUISING APPROX 60 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY, REAR WHEELS LOCKED UP, TRANSMISSION DOWNSHIFTS TO FIRST GEAR, VEHICLE SKIDS TOWARD THE EDGE OF AN EMBANKMENT, JUST BEFORE GETTING THERE THE WHEELS UNLOCK AND MY WIFE IS ABLE TO MAKE IT TO A NEAR BY CHURCH PARKING LOT TO PULL OVER AND TURN THE ENGINE OFF.

CAR WAS DRIVING FINE AND THEN IT STOPPED ACCELERATING, WOULDN'T CHANGE GEARS OR GO OVER 20MPH. WE BROUGHT IT TO OUR LOCAL REPAIR SHOP WHO THOUGHT IT WAS THE TIMING CHAIN. WE THEN HAD IT TOWED TO THE FORD DEALER (KOONS IN FALLS CHURCH, VA) THEY SAID THAT IT IS A PROBLEM WITH LOW OIL PRESSURE AND THE ENGINE HAS BEEN AFFECTED. THEY GAVE US AN ESTIMATE OF $11,000 TO REPAIR (NEEDS A NEW ENGINE). THE CAR ONLY HAS 89,000 MILES AND HAS BEEN PERFECTLY MAINTAINED. I CAN ONLY ASSUME THAT A CAR THIS YOUNG THAT HAS BEEN PROPERTY MAINTAINED HAS SOME KIND OF MANUFACTURING DEFECT.

REMOVAL AND INSPECTION OF THE FUEL PUMP FOUND THE INTERNAL POWER WIRE TO THE PUMP RUBBED THROUGH ON THE PRESSURE REGULATOR GROUND SPADE CAUSING A SHORT CIRCUIT INSIDE THE FUEL TANK - THIS SHORT CIRCUIT BLOWS FUSE 44 IN THE UNDERHOOD FUSE BOX, CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO STALL WITHOUT WARNING, MELTED THE SAFETY GROUND WIRE BETWEEN THE FUEL PUMP AND PRESSURE REGULATOR, AND HAS A HIGH CHANCE OF CAUSING A FIRE INSIDE THE GAS TANK. THIS WAS ON THE FACTORY OE MOTORCRAFT FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY.

THERE IS NO HARD BRAKING, NO ODD DRIVING, NO REAL REASONS FOR ANY BRAKE ISSUES TO HAPPEN LET ALONE REQUIRING MULTIPLE REPLACEMENTS WITHIN A YEAR. WAS MADE FOR THAT FOLLOWING MORNING TO PERFORM THE 16S19 WHICH ONLY TOOK ABOUT 20 MINUTES FROM THE TIME OF CHECKING IN, 07/25. I WAS VERY WORRIED ABOUT MY DRIVE TO THE DEALERSHIP AS THE SPEEDOMETER IMMEDIATELY DROPPED TO 0, VEHICLE BEGAN JERKING FORWARD AND LOST OF SPEED. I PULLED OVER SEVERAL TIMES HOPING THE ISSUE WOULD CORRECT ITSELF. EVENTUALLY THE PIC OF A WRENCH AND SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD ALL OF WHICH DISAPPEARED ONCE I ARRIVED AT THE DEALERSHIP, AND TURNED THE KEY OFF AND BACK ON AGAIN. NOW THE RECALL NOTICE HAS BEEN REMOVED FROM OUR RECORD AND THE RECALL NOTICE IS NO LONGER ASSOCIATED WITH VIN. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. WE NEED THIS TO BE REPAIRED!
VEHICLE RANDOMLY DOWN SHIFTING AT HIGH RATE OF SPEED CAUSING REAR TIRES TO LOCK UP. SAME EXPERIENCES AS LISTED IN APRIL 27, 2016 RECALL NOTICE. MY VEHICLE WAS MADE IN SAME MANUFACTURED PLANT BUT A FEW DAYS OUT OF THE RECALL DATES FOR VEHICLES. TRANSMISSION KEEPS SLIPPING WHILE IN MOTION OF VEHICLE. I WAS INVOLVED IN A TRAFFIC COLLISION TODAY, MAY 15, 2015, GOING SOUTHBOUND THE SPEED OF 45MPH ON A CITY STREET IN RANCHO CUCAMONGA CA. ANOTHER CAR GOING WESTBOUND DIDN'T WAIT AT STOP SIGN, WENT THROUGH THE INTERSECTION, I SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES AND TURNED WHEEL TO THE RIGHT TO AVOID HITTING HER BUT WE COLLIDED, I WAS SPUN AROUND, SHE ENDED UP IN THE FRONT YARD THE HOUSE ON THE CORNER. THE FRONT OF MY VEHICLE HIT THE FRONT FENDER AND FRONT DOOR OF THE PASSENGER SIDE OF HER VEHICLE. ONLY 1 AIRBAG DEPLOYED IN MY VEHICLE, THE PASSENGER SIDE, WITH NO PASSENGER SITTING THERE. MY VEHICLE HAS SEVERAL OTHER AIRBAGS THAT DID NOT DEPLOY, EVEN THOUGH THE WHOLE FRONT END WAS SMASHED. ALSO, THE ONE AIRBAG THAT DID DEPLOY CAUGHT ON FIRE, AND FILLED THE INTERIOR OF THE TRUCK WITH A BURNING WHITE SMOKE, NOT POWDER. IT WAS A VERY STRONG BURNING SMELL THAT I INHALED A LOT OF. MY 2012 EXPEDITION LIMITED HAS 102,000 MILES. IT HAS BEGAN TO DOWNSHIFT UNEXPECTEDLY IN THE RANGE OF 15MPH TO APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH. IT SEEMS TO DOWNSHIFT THEN GET STUCK IN A LOWER GEAR. THE TRANSMISSION SLOWS YOU DOWN UNEXPECTEDLY, AND WON'T ALLOW YOU TO INCREASE SPEED UNTIL YOU PULL OVER AND LET IT GO DOWN TO 0 MPH THEN RESUME ENTERING BACK INTO TRAFFIC. I HAVE FOUND SITES LIKE 360 LEGAL WHICH SAY FORD HAS A RECALL FOR A MODULE TO BE REPROGRAMMED, BUT FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE STATES THERE IN NO SUCH RECALL AND NO COMPLAINTS HAVE BEEN MADE REGARDING THIS DEFECT. IT'S VERY UNSAFE IN TRAFFIC WHERE YOU SLOW THEN GIVE IT GAS TO EXPECT IT TO INCREASE SPEED AND IT SUDDENLY SLOWS NO MATTER HOW FAR YOU DEPRESS THE GAS PEDAL. THE TRANSMISSION REVS UP LOUDLY AS IT YOU WERE INCREASING SPEED BUT YET YOUR SPEED CANNOT INCREASE. THIS HAS HAPPEN AFTER SLOWING FOR TRAFFIC LIGHTS AND ACCELERATING AGAIN, WHEN I PULL OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY AND ACCELERATE TO DRIVE AWAY, AND IN THE SCHOOL ZONE AT MY CHILD'S SCHOOL.
I JUST BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE USED. THE PAINT ON THE TAILGATE OF MY TRUCK HAS BUBBLED UP IN SEVERAL LOCATIONS AND STARTED TO PEEL. AFTER TALKING TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND THE MANUFACTURER, THEY STATED THAT IT'S A COSMETIC PROBLEM, NOT COVERED BY THE CORROSION WARRANTY. AFTER MUCH RESEARCH, I HAVE REALIZED THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM. I OWNED A SIMILAR MAKE AND MODEL THAT WAS 9 YEARS OLDER AND THOUGHT IT WAS A LIMITED ISSUE. UNFORTUNATELY, THE MANUFACTURER KNOWS THEY HAVE AN ISSUE, BUT REFUSE TO COVER IT. THE BODY SHOP I CONTACTED RECOMMENDED FOLLOWING UP ON THIS BECAUSE IT'S A VERY COMMON PROBLEM DUE TO PAINT NOT BEING APPLIED TO THE ALUMINUM CORRECTLY DURING PRODUCTION.
THE 2012 EXPEDITION HAS PRIOR RECALLS FOR TRANSMISSION ISSUES. I PURCHASED MINE 3 MONTHS AGO AND AM NOW BEING TOLD I WILL HAVE TO HAVE THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION REPLACED TO THE TUNE OF $6,000 BUT YET MY VIN# IS NOT PART OF THE RECALL LIST.

WHILE DRIVING MY 2012 EXPEDITION 45 - 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE DOWNSHIFTED WITHOUT WARNING AND STALLED MORE THAN ONCE AND JERKED REPEATEDLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP TWICE FOR THE SAME OCCURENCE LISTED ON THE RECALL NOTIFICATION. THE DEALER CLAIMS THEY "FIXED" THE PROBLEM BY INSTALLING THE NEW SOFTWARE AGAIN. THE ISSUE OCCURED AGAIN WHILE DRIVING HOME WITH MY FAMILY IN THE VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY WHERE THE ACCELERATION DROPPED DOWN TO FIRST AND THE REAR TIRE LOCKED UP. WE ALL THOUGHT WE WERE ABOUT TO DIE WITH THE TRAFFIC COMING BEHIND US. FORD NEEDS TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE AND I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED SOMETHING SO DANGEROUS BEFORE. FORD MUST BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THIS DEFECT AND FIX THE ISSUE AS PEOPLE HAVE INVESTED IN PURCHASING THIER BRAND. I PRAY NO ONE GETS INJURED FROM THIS MALFUCTION AND DEFECT ON THESE VEHICLES.

WHEN DRIVING THE CAR IN MOTION AT SPEEDS OVER 40 MPH THE BREAKS WOULD LOCK UP AND THE CAR WOULD COME TO A COMPLETE STOP
I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 40 MPH, AND THE VEHICLE ON THE VEHICLE APPEARED TO HAVE A SUDDEN DOWNSHIFT. THE CARD DRASTICALLY REDUCE SPEED VERY QUICKLY AND REMAINED IN A LOW GEAR ALTHOUGH IT SAID IT WAS IN DRIVE. THE DESCRIPTION OF WHAT HAPPENED MATCHES RECALL 16S19, HOWEVER, THEY SAID MY SPECIFIC VEHICLE WAS NOT AVAILABLE FOR THAT RECALL. SAME YEAR AND VERY SIMILAR ISSUE.
VEHICLE DOWNSHIFTS ABRUPTLY WHILE BEING DRIVEN AT APPROXIMATELY 55 TO 60 MILES PER HOUR. VERY DANGEROUS, IT CAN CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. SOME VEHICLES WERE RECALLED BUT FORD SAYS MY VIN NUMBER WAS NOT IN THE VEHICLES THAT WERE RECALLED. THE DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM IS EXACTLY AS THE ONE DESCRIBED TO THE RECALLS IN 184,000 FORD VEHICLES FROM 2011-2012. A WRENCH SHOWS UP IN THE DASH BOARD AND A SIGN THAT SHOWS LOW GASOLINE LEVELS. WHEN THIS PROBLEM OCCURS THE ONLY OPTION IS TO PULLOVER AS FAST AS POSSIBLE. I STOPPED TURNED OF THE CAR AND TURNED IT BACK ON. AFTER THE CAR WOULD DRIVE NORMALLY WITHOUT SHOWING ANYTHING ON THE DASHBOARD AND WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS. I HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS IN THE LAST 3 WEEKS AT LEAST 7 TIMES. WHEN A SCANNER IS CONNECTED IT DOES NOT SHOW ANY SIGNS OR PROBLEMS. VERY DANGEROUS EXPERIENCE EVERY TIME IT HAPPENED. IT USUALLY HAPPENED AT A HIGH SPEED IN THE HIGHWAY WHICH MAKES IT EVEN A MORE DANGEROUS SITUATION. IT HAPPENED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AND BEING DRIVEN OVER 55 MILES PER HOUR. IT FEELS LIKE IT DOWNSHIFTS FROM 5TH TO 1ST GEAR WITHOUT ANY REASON. ONLY WHILE DRIVING 55 MILES PER HOUR OR MORE. IT RELATES TO RECALL 12V190000 AND IT SEEMS LIKE FORD PROMISED TO REPLACE THE "LEAD FRAME" WHICH CAUSES THIS DEFECT AT NO CHARGE UNDER 10 YEARS OR 150,000 MILES. THEY SAY MY VIN NUMBER DOES NOT HAVE RECALLS. I FIRMLY BELIEVE THAT THE SYMPTOMS OF THE PROBLEM ARE EXACTLY THE SAME AS WHAT ALL THE 184,000 CARS BETWEEN 2011-2012 HAD EXPERIENCED. IT IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION TO BE IN. I ALSO FOUND THAT IN THE PAST 3 CARS WERE INVOLVED IN ACCIDENTS DUE TO THIS ISSUE AND THANKFULLY NO FATALITIES. RECENTLY, THE REAR TAILGATE AROUND THE LIFT HANDLE HAS BECOME CORRODED AND THE PAINT IS PEELING. I KEEP THE VEHICLE STORED AND RARELY USE IT. I KEEP IT IN IMMACULATE CONDITION AND VERY WELL MAINTAINED. THIS IS THE ONLY BLEMISH ON IT, BUT I CAN SEE IT IS GETTING WORSE AND WILL EVENTUALLY NEED TO BE REPAIRED AND REPAINTED. I UNDERSTAND THE IS A PROBLEM WITH ALL EXPEDITIONS AND BELIEVE FORD SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIR SINCE IT APPEARS TO BE A MANUFACTURING DEFECT.

THE PASSENGER SIDE IS ALMOST THERE. THE EXPEDITION ONLY HAS 50,000 MILES. AFTER GETTING THIS INFORMATION FROM THE DEALER WE READ THE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY. THE WARRANTY WILL ONLY REPLACE THE DRIVER SIDE BEARING. WHEN THE PASSENGER SIDE IS MAKING THE SAME NOISE DEALERSHIP SAID TO BRING IT IN.

MY OTHER VEHICLE IS OVER 10 YEARS OLD AND BESIDES CHIPS THE PAINT IS FINE.
SPONTANEOUS AND COMPLETE FAILURE OF PASSENGER SIDE THIRD ROW/CARGO GLASS. NO OTHER CARS IN SIGHT ON A SMOOTH ROAD, APPROXIMATELY 72 DEGREES OUTSIDE. TRAVELING SLIGHTLY BELOW HIGHWAY SPEED AS WE HAD JUST COME THROUGH A CURVE. LOUD POPPING SOUND AND THE ENTIRE WINDOW WAS SIMPLY GONE, BROKEN IN A MILLION SHARDS THAT WENT EVERY DIRECTION, INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. GLASS EMBEDDED IN SECOND ROW SEAT BACKS, AND ALL ITEMS IN CARGO AREA. VISIBLE SCRATCHES AND GOUGES IN PLASTIC SURROUNDING THE WINDOW FROM THE FORCE OF THE GLASS HITTING IT. HAD ANYONE BEEN SITTING IN THE THIRD ROW, THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED.

THE CONTACT COULD NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN BEEPING AS USUAL TO NOTIFY HER WHEN AN OCCUPANT WAS UNBLOCKED. THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE RCM HAD NOT BEEN MANUFACTURED WITH THE VEHICLE, EVEN THOUGH THE MANUAL STATED THAT THE RCM WAS INCLUDED. THE DEALER THEN IDENTIFIED THAT THE PASSENGER AIR BAG NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THAT WAS WHAT CAUSED THE SERIES OF BEEPING SOUNDS. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 9,311.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS 2012 FORD EXPEDITION. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO ENGAGE THE BRAKES, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED WITHOUT ANY WARNING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON A DIFFERENT OCCASION BUT SINCE SHE WAS NOT DRIVING THERE WAS A SUDDEN INCREASE IN ENGINES RPMS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 20,250.
WHILE DRIVING THE REAR AIR SUSPENSION FAILED ABRUPTLY CAUSING THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE TO BOTTOM OUT. THE VEHICLE LOST HANDLING ABILITY, COULD NOT BE DRIVEN AND HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR WARRANTY REPAIR. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE IN THAT I USE THE VEHICLE TO TOW BOATS AND SNOWMOBILE TRAILERS OFTEN AT HIGHWAY SPEED. IF THE AIR SUSPENSION WERE TO FAIL WHILE ATTACHED TO A TRAILER THE TONGUE WILL HIT THE ROADWAY AND MAY BE A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. I THINK THE SUSPENSION SHOULD BE RE-DESIGNED TO INCLUDE A SET OF SPRINGS TO PREVENT THE SUSPENSION FROM COMPLETELY BOTTOMING OUT IF THE AIR SUSPENSION FAILS. *TR
DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 65 MPH IN THE LEFT LANE WHEN THE CAR LOST ALL POWER. WE WERE ABLE TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY BECAUSE WE WERE TRAVELING AT THE RATE OF SPEED LISTED ABOVE WITH NO POWER. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TO SOMEONE IN THIS POSITION. AS WE ATTEMPTED TO SEE IF WE COULD FIGURE OUT WHAT HAD OCCURRED AN ERROR APPEARED ON THE SERVICE DISPLAY OF SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC. A FEW MINUTES LATER WE NOTICED THE ADDITIONAL CODE OF TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR FAULT. WE HAD TO GET THE VEHICLE TOWED AT THIS POINT. NOT SATISFIED AS THE COULD BE HUGE SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
AFTER ENGAGING THE 4X4 VIA THE DASHBOARD CONTROL KNOB THE "SERVICE ADVANCE TRACK" MESSAGE WAS SHOWN IN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. THE 4X4 WAS DISENGAGED AND THE VEHICLE WAS THEN STOPPED. THE INDICATOR LIGHTS FOR THE ABS, STABILITY CONTROL AND 4X4 WERE THEN ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND AT THIS POINT ALL STABILITY CONTROL, ANTI-LOCK BRAKES AND OTHER POWERTRAIN SAFETY FEATURES WERE COMPLETELY INOPERABLE AND/OR DISABLED. THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED AND A FAILURE OF THE WHEEL SPEED SENSOR WAS NOTED. *TR
ON MANY OCCASIONS FROM AROUND MAY OR JUNE OF 2013, WHEN THE CAR IS ACCELERATING FROM FIRST TO SECOND GEAR IT "JUMPS". IT FEELS AS IF SOMEONE HAS HIT THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP 3 TIMES. EACH TIME THEY HAVE UPDATED THE SOFTWARE AND SUPPOSEDLY SOLVED THE PROBLEM. AFTER EACH RETURN OF THE VEHICLE THE PROBLEM HAD ONLY GOTTEN WORSE. THE SECOND TIME AFTER BEING "FIXED" BY THE DEALERSHIP THE VERY NEXT DAY SOMEONE ALMOST REAR ENDED THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THE "JUMP" WAS SO IMPACTFUL THAT I SUDDENLY APPLIED MY BRAKES THINKING SOMEONE HAD REAR ENDED ME. THE CAR BEHIND ME STOP JUST AN HAIR SHORT OF HITTING THE VEHICLE. BEYOND GETTING WHIPLASH FROM THE CONSTANT "JUMPS", I AM AFRAID THAT SOMETHING VERY SERIOUS WILL HAPPEN IF THIS IS NOT FIXED OR CORRECTED. *TR
A STRONG GAS SMELL/FUMES HAS FILLED THE PASSENGER CABIN ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS WHILE UNDERWAY AND CANNOT DETERMINE WHY (NOT NEAR GAS STATION, NOT RECENT REFUELING, JUST REGULAR HIGHWAY DRIVING). THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND THE ALERT SYSTEM STATED THAT THE DOOR WAS AJAR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND DISPATCHED AN INSPECTOR. THE INSPECTOR, WHO EXAMINED THE VEHICLE, DETERMINED THAT THERE WAS A GAP BETWEEN THE DOOR AND THE FRAME, BUT STATED THAT IT WAS NORMAL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 12,000.
MY 2012 FORD EXPEDITION SUFFERED A CATASTROPHIC TIRE FAILURE WHILE TRAVELLING AT 65MPH ON THE FREEWAY. THE TIRE WAS ONLY 11 MONTHS OLD WITH APPROXIMATELY 9000 MILES. THE TIRE WAS INFLATED PROPERLY AND HAD NO EXTERNAL SIGNS OF WEAR. SLIGHTLY BEFORE THE TIRE SIDEWALL SEPARATED I HEARD A SLAPPING SOUND FROM THE LEFT FRONT AND EASED OFF THE GAS. THE TIRE THEN POPPED LOUDLY AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO BECOME HARD TO CONTROL. I WAS ABLE TO SLOW DOWN AND GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO REPLACE IT WITH THE SPARE. THE TIRE WAS A GOODYEAR WRANGLER SR-A. FORTUNATELY NO ONE WAS HURT BUT THE TREAD CAUSED SOME MINOR DAMAGE IN THE WHEEL WELL AREA. THIS WAS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION CAUSED BY AN UNRELIABLE TIRE. *TR
THE HEADRESTS FOR THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SEATS ARE QUITE UNCOMFORTABLE. WE DID NOT NOTICE WHILE TEST DRIVING, SINCE NEITHER OF US SAT IN THE PASSENGER SEAT, BUT ON THE DRIVE HOME I WAS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT TRYING TO REST MY HEAD AGAINST THE HEADREST AND FOUND IT UNCOMFORTABLE. IN THE DAYS TO COME, MY WIFE FOUND IT MORE SO. OUR WORKAROUND HAS BEEN TO INSERT A NECK PILLOW AT THE BASE OF THE HEADREST. WE CONTACTED FORD 800#, AND THE RESPONSE WAS THAT THE HEADREST WAS DESIGNED WITH THE ANGLE FORWARD LIKE THAT FOR SAFETY, AND THEY COULD DO NOTHING ABOUT IT. THEY DID NOT SEEM TO BE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, EVEN THOUGH MANY PEOPLE HAVE POSTED COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS 'FEATURE' ON THE WEB. APPARENTLY IT IS NOT EVEN NEW FOR THE 2011 MODEL YEAR. BRAKE READ AS NOT ENGAGED, HOWEVER EDR ALSO READ VEHICLE AT 0MPH. ACCELERATOR 0% AT 3.5 SECONDS PRIOR TO IMPACT, INITIAL ACCELERATION 23% THREE SECONDS PRIOR TO IMPACT, 99% 1.5 SECONDS PRIOR TO IMPACT. ENGINE RPMS DATA MAY NOT BE APPROPRIATE. AFTER PURCHASING A 2012 FORD EXPEDITION, WE DISCOVERED THAT, WHEN RUNNING THE SEAT A/C, THE MOTOR INSIDE THE SEAT OVERHEATS. THIS CAUSES THE UPPER SECTION OF THE SEAT TO BECOME HOT, AND THE SEAT POCKET BEHIND THE SEAT TO BECOME VERY HOT. WE WERE ADVISED THAT THE SYSTEM WAS BUILT WITHOUT PROPER VENTILATION FOR THE MOTOR, AND THERE WAS NO FIX. NOT JUST FOR OUR VEHICLE BUT FOR ALL 2012 EXPEDITIONS....ALL HAVE THIS PROBLEM. THE ADVICE GIVEN BY FORD WAS "DON'T USE THE SEAT A/C DURING THE SUMMER." I WAS TOLD IT WOULD BE OKAY TO USE THE SEAT HEATER IN THE WINTER. HOWEVER, IF THE BLOWER DOESN'T VENTILATE PROPERLY, THE MOTOR WILL STILL BECOME HOT. MY FEAR IS THAT IT WILL BECOME SO HOT THAT IT COULD EITHER SHORT OUT, GIVING SOMEONE A NASTY SHOCK, OR WORSE, CATCH FIRE. *JS

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2011-2012 Ford F-150 trucks, 2012 Ford Expedition, Lincoln Navigator, and Ford Mustang vehicles. The affected vehicles are equipped with an automatic transmission that may unexpectedly downshift to first gear, regardless of vehicle speed.
