When applying the brake fro my 2012 Honda Odyssey I feel my steering shaking that may cause an issue while driving on Freeway. I have done the wheel balancing on new tires again too... But still i fee the same.
The sliding door on the driver's side would open when the handle was pulled even when the lock was engaged. As this is the primary door used, I didn't not know it wasn't supposed to do this. Several years ago, the started sticking, then making a popping sound when it opened. The dealership inspected and found nothing wrong. It progressed to opening a little bit and getting stuck which required closing the door using the electronic controls. Then it started getting stuck in the open position which using the electronic controls multiple times to get it to close. As it is getting worse over time, I don't know if that will continue. At each oil change, I had the door checked. For years it was sporadic so they claimed they could not reproduce. A few months ago, we lost the ability to use the manual door handles. At this point, it was fully reproducible, but the dealership claimed they couldn't find a cause. They can't explain why the door is attempting to open when the lock is engaged.
The contact owns a 2012 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated while driving 35-45 mph, the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact stated that there was blue smoke coming out of the exhaust pipe and the vehicle was shuddering. The contact continued driving the vehicle to her residence. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact they could not provide any assistance as she was the second vehicle owner. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 141,000.
The following referenced items have been in constant or recent trouble status: The two-sliding doors repeatedly have resisted closing for at least a year or more. They are eventually forced to close by manipulation of the track system (i.e. closing mechanism). This issue has repeatedly been brought to the attention of the service team at Clear Lake Honda, and diagnostic tests have been conducted but to no avail. This is definitely a safety hazard. Recently, the rear door refused to close and would not engage either manually or automatically when attempting to close. This issue has been brought to the attention of the service team at Clear Lake Honda as of this reporting.
The Variable Cylinder Management (VCM) System continues to burn my spark plugs on the rear of the engine where the VCM activates and deactivates. Spark plugs and cylinder fills with oil deposits when cylinders are deactivated. Also burning in excess of one quart of oil per 1,000 miles. Not safe to continue to drive because engine failure could cause other systems like, power brakes, ABS, power steering wheel, etc to fail. Also unsafe unreliable to have my family to take long trips where road side assistance might not be available due to no cell telephone signal in certain areas of Texas isolated roads. Thank understand Honda has had recalls on these engines and VCM systems in the past but their fixes don’t appear to work. I am one of many Honda owners that are left out to spend thousands of dollars in new engines because of original and extended warranties expiring. Honda should extend these engine warranties and take ownership and responsibility for their engineering / manufacturing mistakes. A simple switch to turn off the VCM should fix this problem. Other car brands have this feature that allows vehicle owners to turn it off. This is the fourth time this vehicle gets either a p303, P302 or P301 code for damaged spark plugs and excess oil in the cylinder.
THE BACK SIDE TRACK DOORS POP OPEN WHILE DRIVING. THEY SET THE LIGHTS OFF ANYTIME YOU BRAKE OR TAKE TURNS.
PAINT PEELING. ON TOP OF VAN AND TAILGATE. NOTICED SEVERAL HONDA ODYSSEY'S HAVE SAME ISSUE ON PEARL COLOR VANS.
ENGINE WORKING BUT NO POWER WHILE DRIVING THE CAR WHEN PUSH GAS.
THE SLIDING DOOR ON PASSENGER SIDE IT IS AN AUTOMATIC OPERATING DOOR. DOESN'T OPEN OR CLOSE IN PROPER WAY FOR MOST OF THE TIME. IT IS TRYING BUT IT GET STUCK AND REVERSED BACK. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH IT, I CAN'T BRING IT TO THE DEALER IT WILL BE A LOT OF LABOR. THAN YOU!!
VAN STARTED TO CHUG WHEN DRIVING. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FLASHED AND IT WAS TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. PISTON RINGS ARE BAD AFTER 130,000 MILES.
WAS DRIVING NORMAL STARTED MISSING AND SPUTTERING REALLY BAD JERKING VIOLENTY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STARTED FLASHING BARELY WAS ABLE TO GET SAFELY OFF THE ROAD. GOT BACK HOME IGHT GOES OFF AND DRIVES NORMAL FEW DAYS LATER SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN.
THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR SLIDING DOOR CABLE SNAPPED AND BROKE. NOW THE DOOR ISN'T WORKING. NOT SURE HOW IT HAPPENED I WENT TO OPERATE THE DOOR AND IT WOULDN'T WORK. AFTER INSPECTION I SAW THE BROKEN CABLE.
SHUTTER / JUDDER LOW SPEED. CAN CAUSE HESITATION FOR GETTING OUT OF ANOTHER VEHICLE'S WAY IN TRAFFIC AT LIW SPEED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE HAD EXPERIENCED AN INTERMITTENT DRIVER SIDE SLIDING DOOR FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT UPON PULLING THE DRIVER SIDE SLINGING DOOR HANDLE, THE DOOR WOULD NOT SLIDE BACK AS NEEDED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO HONDA OF ESCONDIDO (1700 AUTO PARK WAY N, ESCONDIDO, CA 92029) WHERE THEY FAILED TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE DEALER WAS ABLE TO REPLACE ALL THE CABLE WIRES IN THE DEFECTIVE DOOR HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE CONTACT BROUGHT THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER TEN MONTHS LATER WHERE THEY PERFORMED A LATCH ADJUSTMENT ON THE DEFECTIVE DOOR; DESPITE THE REPAIR, THE FAILURE STILL PERSISTED. SINCE THE LAST REPAIR, THE FAILURE BECAME MORE FREQUENT AND THE DEALER HAD RECENTLY SUGGESTED THAT THE CABLES BE REPLACED YET AGAIN. THE MANUFACTURER HAD YET TO BE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD YET TO BE REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 50,000.
I SCANNED MY VEHICLE WITH A FOXWELL 624ELITE AND FOUND THE FOLLOWING: 1. ANTI LOCK BRAKE TRACTION VEHICLE (FAULT I2) ABS/TCS/VSA 2. BATTERY VOLTAGE HIGH 62_1 PERMANENT DTC 3. BATTERY VOLTAGE LOW61_1 PERMANENT DTC 4. BODE ELECTRICAL INTEGRATED CONTROL SYSTEM (FAULT I1) 5. REAR COMMUNICATION FAILURE PERMANENT DTC B2965
IN TWO DIFFERENT OCCATIONS, WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE IN A MOTION THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT SUDDENLY GO DOWN AND THE MOUNT PLASTIC COVER GET DISASSEMBLE. IT IS A SECURITY PROBLEM. IT CAN CAUSE AN ACCIDENT DUE TO MECHANICAL PROBLEM WITH THE SEAT. IT IS A SAFETY RISK.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE WINDSHIELD WAS CRACKED AT THE TOP OF THE WINDSHIELD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AN UNKNOWN DEALER WAS CONTACTED HOWEVER, REFERRED THE CONTACT TO A THIRD PARTY TO GET THE WINDSHIELD REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND A CASE WAS FILED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 40,000.
THE DRIVER SIDE REAR DOOR HAS CAME OFF THE TRACK TWICE CAUSING THE DOOR TO HANG FROM THE TOP ROLLER AND FALL OFF THE TRACK CAUSING SEVERE BODY DAMAGE. IT HAS BEEN REPLACED THREE MONTHS AGO AND TODAY JUNE 23, 2020, IT FELL OFF AGAIN. ALMOST INJURING MY 7 YEAR OLD STEP-SON. THE MECHANIC THAT I SPOKE TO INITIALLY SAID THIS WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM. *TR
VAN CAUGHT FIRE WHILE DRIVING
PURCHASED 2012 HONDA ODYSSEY WITH 49K MILES, LOOKED LIKE NEW INSIDE AND OUT, DEALERSHIP PREPPED VEHICLE, INCLUDING NEW TIRES, A FEW MINOR REPAIRS WERE NEEDED, REQUESTED EVERYTHING BE GONE OVER, VEHICLE SAFETY WAS A PRIORITY. I GAVE THEM AN ADDITIONAL MONTH TO ORDER PARTS AND TO TAKE THEIR TIME TO MAKE SURE ALL WAS COMPLETED PROPERLY. DISCOVERED THE NEW ALL SEASON TIRES WERE REALLY DEDICATED MICHELIN WINTER TIRES AS I AM DRIVING ALL SUMMER, HIGHWAY INTERSTATE. THEY DIDN'T REPLACE THE CORRODED, LEAKING TPMS SENOR/VALVE STEMS, THEY LEFT THE ORIGINAL ONES IN. WHILE ON AN OUT OF STATE TRIP, THE PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. ALSO DISCOVERED THE(2) SAFETY LATCH RECALLS FROM HONDA WERE STILL OPEN AS I AM DRIVING MY KIDS AND OTHER STUDENTS IN OUR VAN. THE DEALERSHIP SALESMAN ENSURED ME ALL WOULD BE TAKEN CARE OF AS HE HAD CHILDREN HIMSELF. HE WAS SENDING THE VEHICLE TO A HONDA DEALERSHIP FOR THE KEY CYLINDER REPLACEMENT. TURNS OUT THE VEHICLE HAD 3 OPEN RECALLS. NON REPAIRED AND THEY ASSURED ME THEY HAD BEEN FIXED. THEY MARKETED THE VAN AS A LOCAL TRADE IN, LATER TO FIND OUT THE DEALERSHIP PURCHASED THE VAN AT AN OUT OF STATE AUCTION. I HAD TO PUT NEW ALL SEASON TIRES ON AND REPLACED THE LEAKING TPMS UNITS, THEY REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE ISSUES AS I HAD REPAIRS COMPLETED AT A HONDA DEALERSHIP AND SUBARU REIMBURSED ME FOR THE SMALL REPAIRS, BUT REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE TIRES OR TPMS UNITS, DISMISSING ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS. THERE IS NO LOVE OR SAFETY AT THIS SUBARU DEALERSHIP . ALL DOCUMENTATION HAS BEEN FILED WITH THE OHIO ATTORNEY GENERAL COMPLAINT. A BIG QUESTION IS ABOUT THE VEHICLES HISTORY FROM AN AUCTION AND WHAT ELSE HAS BEEN COVERED UP AND NOT DISCLOSED.
CYLINDER NUMBER 3 HAS MISFIRED MULTIPLE TIMES IN LAST 14,000 MILES. SPARK PLUG 3 HAD A LOT OF CARBON. WE CHANGED ALL SPARK PLUGS AND THE PC VALVE IN JULY 2018. IT MISFIRED FEW TIMES IN 2019 BUT THEN WORKED OK AFTER RESTARTING TILL FEB 2020. IT MISFIRED MULTIPLE TIMES AND WE NOW CHANGED ALL SPARK PLUGS AGAIN AND IGNITION COIL OF CYLINDER 3
THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STARTED TO BLINK AND THE VSA CAME ON AS WELL. THIS HAPPENED AFTER I PULLED INTO OUR DRIVEWAY THANK GOODNESS BECAUSE THE ENGINE STARTED TO SHAKE THE CAR. WE TOOK THE VAN IN OUR LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND IT HAD A P0302 CODE. ENGINE MISFIRE. THIS WAS CAUSED BY OIL GETTING INTO THE SPARK PLUG. PISTON AND RING JOB WAS RECOMMENDED. THE 2012 HONDA HAD A TSB 11-033 FOR THIS ISSUE. WE ARE BEING DENIED OUR CLAIM. I AM INCLUDING A PICTURE OF OUR SPARK PLUG THAT SHOWS WHERE THERE WAS A LOT OF OIL WHEN IT WAS FIRED UPON ALONG WITH TALKS I HAVE HAD WITH HONDA.
WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET, A CAR PULLED OUT IN FRONT OF ME SO I HAD TO QUICKLY HIT MY BREAKS TO AVOID A CAR ACCIDENT WITH THE OTHER CAR BUT IN THE PROCESS THE 2ND ROW PASSENGER SEAT THAT IS DIRECTLY BEHIND THE DRIVER SEAT AUTOMATICALLY FLIPPED DOWN THEN FLEW FORWARD RAMMING THE BACK OF MY SEAT AND MY BACK VERY HARD. LUCKILY MY SON WAS SITTING ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE VAN AND WAS NOT SITTING IN THAT SEAT. BUT THE SEAT KEPT SLAMMING BACK AND FORTH INTO MY BACK UNTIL I COULD SAFELY PULL OVER TO LATCH THE SEAT BACK INTO PLACE. I HAVE TRIED CALLING MY LOCAL HONDA DEALERSHIP TO SEE ABOUT HAVING MY SEATS CHECKED OUT BECAUSE I'VE BEEN SCARED TO DRIVE MY VEHICLE AFTER THE INCIDENT BUT THEY TOLD ME THEY CANNOT HELP ME. ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT THERE IS NOT JUST ONE BUT TWO RECALLS ON THE 2ND PASSENGER ROW OF MY HONDA ODYSSEY. SO I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP BACK WITH THE NEW INFORMATION ON THE RECALLS, BUT I WAS TOLD THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PARTS TO FIX THE ISSUES WITH MY SEATS. I DO NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO NOW. THIS IS MY ONLY VEHICLE BUT MY LOWER BACK HAS BEEN HURTING EVER SINCE THE INCIDENT HAPPENED BUT IM WORRIED IF I KEEP DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND THE SEAT SHOULD UNLOCK AGAIN THEN IT COULD SERIOUSLY INJURE ME/MY BACK EVEN MORE OR WORSE CAUSE ME TO WRECK.
MY WIFE'S 2012 ODYSSEY TOURING WAS PARKED ON THE RAMP TO OUR GARAGE, WITH THE EMERGENCY BRAKE ON. I RELEASED THE BRAKE AND APPLIED SLIGHT PRESSURE TO THE ACCELERATOR WITH THE CAR IN REVERSE GEAR: IT LURCHED BACKWARD AND THE BRAKE COULD NOT STOP IT, THOUGH A NEIGHBOR'S GARAGE DID. WHEN I DROVE IT FORWARD TO PARK IT THE CAR SPED FORWARD THIRTY FEET OR SO BEFORE IT OBEYED THE BRAKE. THE GARAGE WILL NEED A NEW DOOR -- AT LEAST -- BUT THE CAR SUFFERED MINOR DAMAGE, EXCEPT THAT THE TAILLIGHTS WILL NOT GO OFF.
HONDA ODYSSEY CREAKING NOISE WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL.
WHEN TURNING LEFT OR RIGHT THERES A NOISE COMING FROM THE STEERING COLUMN. IT ONLY HAPPENS AT SLOW SPEEDS. IT FEELS LIKE SOMETHING IS GOING TO FALL OFF.
WAS TRAVELING ROUGHLY 70 MPH ON HWY 45 JUST OUTSIDE OF BUCKATUNNA, MS WHEN 2 DEER WERE SEEN ON THE MEDIAN OF THE HWY A SHORT DISTANCE AWAY. AS SOON AS THEY WERE SEEN, THE DEER SAW OUR HEADLIGHTS AND JUMPED INTO OUR LANE OF TRAVEL HITTING THE DRIVERS FRONT CORNER DAMAGING THE BUMPER, GRILL, HEADLIGHT, AND LEFT FRONT PANEL. WHAT'S CONCERNING IS EVEN THOUGH THE IMPACT WAS ON THE DRIVER SIDE AND 99% OF DAMAGE TO DRIVERS SIDE, ONLY THE FRONT PASSENGER'S AIRBAG DEPLOYED, NOT THE DRIVER SIDE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE THE CONTACT'S HAND WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TRACK OF THE REAR SLIDING DOOR, THE DOOR CLOSED ON HER HAND. THE CONTACT WAS INJURED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,000.*DT FROM THE CONTACT'S WIFE MY NAME IS MARY JO WELZ, NUMBER XXX XXX XXXX. I AM THE WIFE OF THE CONTACT. I WAS IN THE BACK SEAT ATTEMPTING TO PULL THE SEAT BELT FORWARD AROUND ME WHEN THE DOOR WAS CLOSING AND CLOSED ON MY HAND. THERE WAS NO SENSOR THAT OPENED THE DOOR AND MY FINGERS WERE PINCHED IN THE DOOR WHEN MY HUSBAND IMMEDIATELY OPENED THE DOOR, AS I WAS YELLING IN PAIN. MY FINGERS WERE SWOLLEN FOR A FEW DAYS, AND THEY WERE SORE FOR ABOUT A MONTH. THEY SEEM OK BUT IF I HAVE ANY FURTHER PAIN OR STIFFNESS, I WILL SEE A DOCTOR. OUR CONCERN WAS, IF THERE WAS A CHILD OR PET, THEY COULD EASILY GET THEIR DIGITS CAUGHT IN THE TRACK WHILE THE DOOR IS CLOSING IF THERE IS NO SAFETY SENSOR INSTALLED. ('PARTS OF THIS DOCUMENT HAVE BEEN REDACTED TO PROTECT PERSONALLY IDENTIFIABLE INFORMATION PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).'*JB
MY VIN DOES NOT APPEAR FOR A PISTON RING RECALL ON 2011-2013 HONDA ODYSSEYS. SPECIFICALLY, THE PISTON RINGS IN CERTAIN CYLINDERS ROTATE AND ALIGN, LEADING TO ENGINE OIL CONSUMPTION AND SPARK PLUG FOULING. I WOULD LIKE MY VIN ADDED TO THIS RECALL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE LEAVING A PARKING PLACE, ANOTHER VEHICLE IMPACTED THE FRONTAL DRIVER SIDE TIRE. THE CONTACT STATED THE FRONT PASSENGER AIR BAG DID DEPLOY, BUT THE THE FRONT DRIVER AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONTACT STATED NO ONE SUSTAINED ANY INJURIES OR SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DRIVABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED AS OF YET. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 215,000.
WHEN STATIONARY, THE VAN'S POWER SLIDING DOORS WERE STRUGGLING TO CLOSE; IT WOULD FREQUENTLY START, AND THEN POP BACK OPEN. WE TOOK IT TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP, WHO SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND ANY PROBLEMS EXCEPT THAT THE TRACKS WERE DIRTY, BUT OFFERED NO SUGGESTIONS ON HOW TO FIX THIS (ALSO WE COULD SEE NO DEBRIS TO VALIDATE THIS CLAIM). WE CONTINUED TO USE DOORS WITH DIFFICULTY UNTIL THERE WAS A LOUD POP ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE, AND SUDDENLY A CABLE WAS HANGING OUT. MOTOR COULD STILL BE HEARD, BUT WOULD NO LONGER OPERATE DOOR WITH BUTTONS, SO WE CLOSED IT MANUALLY FOR SEVERAL MONTHS. ONE DAY WHILE OPENING OR CLOSING MANUALLY, THE WHOLE DOOR CAME OFF OF THE TRACK AND COULD NOT GET IT BACK ON OURSELVES. WE HAD TO HAVE SOMEONE RIDE IN THE BACK, HOLDING THE DOOR CLOSED ENOUGH TO GET TO A SHOP, WHERE THEY PUT IT BACK ON THE TRACK FOR $400. THIS DID NOT RESTORE IT TO MOTORIZED FUNCTIONING, BUT ALLOWED US TO USE IT MANUALLY, THOUGH A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF EXTERIOR DAMAGE TO OUR VEHICLE WAS CAUSED IN THE PROCESS OF PUTTING IT BACK INTO PLACE. WE CONTINUED TO USE THE DOOR MANUALLY UNTIL WE COULD AFFORD TO HAVE THE MOTOR REPLACED ON THE BROKEN DOOR. WITHIN 24 HOURS OF REPLACEMENT, THE INITIAL ISSUES REAPPEARED ON THAT DOOR, AND THE PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR IS ALSO HAVING FREQUENT DIFFICULTIES. THEY NOW BOTH STRUGGLE WITH BOTH OPENING AND CLOSING. WE RECENTLY HAD TO LEAVE THE VEHICLE STANDING OPEN IN A PARKING LOT WHILE WE WENT INTO A BUSINESS AFTER TRYING HALF A DOZEN TIMES TO USE THE POWER CLOSE WHILE PUSHING ON THE DOOR MANUALLY. WE PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE SPECIFICALLY FOR THE CONVENIENCE OF POWER DOORS FOR OUR GROWING FAMILY, BUT I'M TRULY CONCERNED THAT I'M GOING TO BE STRANDED IN THE HEAT WITH 4 SMALL CHILDREN BECAUSE WE CAN'T GET THE DOOR TO CLOSE. DEALERSHIP IS NOW QUOTING US $3K TO DO ADDITIONAL REPAIRS WHILE CLAIMING THEY'RE NOT TOTALLY SURE WHAT THE ISSUE IS.
I WAS DRIVING/EXITING A PARKING GARAGE ONTO A STREET INTO TRAFFIC. SUDDENLY, THE PANEL LIGHTS AND AND CABIN LIGHTS STARTED FLASHING AND THE RADIO AND AC CUT OFF, AND IMMEDIATELY AFTER, THE CAR CUT OFF AND I COASTED, THROUGH CARS MOVING AT SPEED, TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CAR WAS IN MOTION ON A CITY STREET. AT THE HONDA DEALERSHIP THEY TOOK A FEW DAYS TO CONTACT ME, THEN TOLD ME I NEED TO PAY $800 FOR A BATTERY CABLE BEFORE THEY DIAGNOSE ANY ISSUES WITH THE ALTERNATOR.
POPPING IN THE STEERING COLUMN WHEN TURNING WHEEL BACK; MORE COMON AT LOWER SPEEDS.
THIS VEHICLE HAD ISSUE ON ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. THIS VEHICLE IS ABOUT 100K MILES AND HAD BEEN CHANING 3 BATTERIES AND IT MEAN THAT 4HT BATERRY INSTALLED ON THIS VEHICLE. LUCAS HONDA DEALER CHANGED THREE TIMES PLUS ORIGINAL BATTERY. AS PER SPOKEN TO LUCAS HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE FOR THE BATTERY PROBLEM. CUSTOMER SAID; "THERE IS NORMAL". I DID NOT BRING THIS VEHICLE FOR THIRD TIMES BECAUSE I THINK I WILL HEAR SAME AS IT "NORMAL". I HAVE YOUNG KID AND I HOPE THIS VEHICLE WILL NOT BREAK DOWN ON INTERSTATE OR MOUNTAIN, OR MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. I WOULD LIKE YOUR ADVICE SO THE ISSUE SHOULD BE FIX.
I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE BRAKES ON MY 2012 HONDA ODYSSEY MULTIPLE TIMES. THE BRAKES VIBRATE EXCESSIVELY WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED AT NORMAL HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THIS OCCURS FREQUENTLY WHEN I AM DRIVING DOWN LONG HILLS OR MOUNTAINS. THE VEHICLE IS HARD TO CONTROL AND THE VEHICLE'S STEERING WHEEL SHAKES EXCESSIVELY AND IS HARD FOR MY WIFE TO CONTROL. I THOUGHT I MAY HAVE HAD A UNIQUE PROBLEM BUT HAVE READ THAT MANY OTHER HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. IN FACT HNDA HAS STATE THAT THE DISC DESIGN DOES NOT ALLOW FOR THE HEAT FROM BRAKING TO DISSIPATE THUS WARPING THE DISC. HONDA CONSIDERED IT AS MAINTENANCE ISSUE AND PART OF THE BRAKING SYSTEM, BUT THAT IS NOT TRUE. REQUEST ASSISTNACE IN MAKING THIS A RECALL ISSUE FOR THIS CRITICAL SAFETY ISSUE!
WHEN AT A STOP WITH FOOT ON THE BRAKE, THE ENGINE STARTS REVVING. THE TACH WENT UP TO 6000 RPM AND CAR TRIED TO PUSH FORWARD ON CITY STREETS. THIS HAPPENED AT LEAST 8 TIMES IN FEB/MARCH 2019. ON MARCH 9, I CALLED THE DEALER, BRILLIANCE HONDA OF CRYSTAL LAKE. THEY SAID I COULD COME IN MONDAY 3/11. THEY TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE AND SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND AN ISSUE. I TOLD THEM THAT APPARENTLY THEY WOULDN'T FIX A PROBLEM UNTIL AN ACCIDENT HURTS OR KILLS ME OR A PASSENGER OR CAR HIT BY MY OUT OF CONTROL CAR. INTERNET SHOWS CARS HAVING OUT OF CONTROL ACCELERATION ISSUES IN THE PAST. CAN YOUR AGENCY INTERCEDE FOR ME?
HAD TO HAVE CAR TOWED THREE TIMES DUE TO VAN WANTING TO ACCELERATE WHILE FOOT OFF THE GAS WHILE STOPPED. ONLY SHUTTING THE VAN OFF KEPT THE VAN FROM REVVING UNCONTROLLABLY. WE HAVE BEEN VERY FORTUNATE NOT TO HAVE BEEN IN A MAJOR ACCIDENT. EACH TIME AMERICA HONDA SAID THERE WERE NO ISSUES FOUND, OR THAT ISSUE HAS BEEN FIXED. EVEN WHEN WE TOOK IT BACK AND TOLD THEM IT DIDN'T FEEL LIKE IT WAS RUNNING THE SAME, THEY SAID NO ISSUES FOUND. THIS VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, ONLY BECAUSE MY WIFE WAS QUICK ENOUGH TO ADDRESS THE CAR WANTING TO LURCH FORWARD. THIS HAPPENED ON COUNTY, AND CITY ROADS. WE FEEL THAT THIS VERY MAJOR PROBLEM, IS BEING MINIMIZED BY HONDA. THIS ISSUE STARTED WITH LESS THAN 46,000 MILES, AND VERY FEW MILES IN BETWEEN EACH FLARE UP. WE HAVE JUST BEEN TOLD IT WAS FIXED AGAIN, AND ARE SCARED TO IMAGINE WHERE MY WIFE WILL BE THE NEXT TIME THIS HAPPENS. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR PROVIDING THIS AVENUE TO STATE THE VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM,WITH WHAT WE CONSIDER OUR NEW VEHICLE. PLEASE RESPOND TO THIS COMPLAINT, SO THAT WE KNOW THAT IT HAS BEEN HEARD.
WHEN BRAKING AT HIGH SPEEDS OR GOING DOWN HILL GET VIBRATION THROUGH STEERING WHEEL MAKING IT HARD TO CONTROL VEHICLE, LITERALLY SHAKES WHOLE CAR
DRIVER-SIDE AND PASSENGER-SIDE DOORS ELECTRIC POWERED DOOR CABLE SNAPPED WHILE DOORS WERE OPENING TRAPPING OCCUPANTS IN THE BACKSEAT. DOORS COULD NOT OPEN FULLY TO ALLOW EGRESS OUT OF THE VEHICLE. UNABLE TO OPEN DOORS MANUALLY DO TO WIRE STUCK IN PULLEY SYSTEM. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND UNOCCUPIED IN THE DRIVEWAY, A LOUD EXPLOSION WAS HEARD FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. MOMENTS LATER, THE ENGINE CAUGHT FIRE. THE ORANGE COUNTY FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE AND PROVIDED PHONE NUMBER 321-313-0541 IN LIEU OF A REPORT NUMBER. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 6, 2018, WE WERE OUR GRANDCHILDREN TO THE ZOO TRAVELING FROM THEIR HOME . WE WERE USING THEIR FAMILY'S 2012 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE SIX YEAR OLD WAS ON A BOOSTER SEAT IN THE THIRD ROW OF SEATS. I HAD HELPED THE THREE YOUNGEST OUT OF THEIR SEATS AND GOTTEN THEM OUT OF THE CAR WHEN THE 6 YEAR OLD CALLED OUT THAT HE WAS STUCK IN HIS SEATBELT. IT WAS TWISTED AROUND HIM AND I COULDN'T SEEM TO FIND THE RELEASE BUTTON. WHEN I ASKED HIM HOW IT HAD GOTTEN THAT WAY, HE SAID HE LAID DOWN WHILE WEARING IT. HE SAID IT HURT AND SEEMED VERY TIGHT. MY HUSBAND LIFTED THE BACK DOOR THINKING HE COULD GET SOME SLACK FROM ABOVE. INSTEAD, THE UNTHINKABLE HAPPENED AND IT BECAME TIGHTER THAN EVER. WE HAD NO TIME TO ANALYZE THE BELT ANY LONGER; THAT WAS CLEAR. IF HE STAYED THAT WAY FOR LONGER THAN A FEW MINUTES, HE WOULD HAVE DEFINITELY HAD ORGAN DAMAGE DUE TO LACK OF BLOOD SUPPLY. I PUT THE FINGERS OF MY HAND BETWEEN THE METAL PART OF THE BELT AND HIS BODY WHILE MY HUSBAND SPRINTED TO THE ZOO OFFICE. WE WERE FORTUNATE THAT THE TRAPPED GRANDSON REMAINED CALM AND DIDN'T THRASH AROUND OR THE OUTCOME WOULD DEFINITELY HAVE BEEN A WORSE ONE. MY HUSBAND SPRINTED BACK WITH TWO PAIRS OF SCISSORS. THE BELT WAS TOO TIGHT AT THE WAIST TO GIVE ME ANY ROOM TO WORK WITH THE SCISSORS. THEN MY HUSBAND CUT THE SEATBELT FROM ABOVE JUST BELOW WHERE THE BELT ENTERED THE CEILING AND OUR GRANDSON WAS SUDDENLY FREED.
CLUNKING SOUND WHEN TURNING. SOMETHING APPEARS TO BE LOOSE.
PURCHASE BRAND NEW HONDA ODYSSEY IN 2012. PAINT FAILURE BECAME VISIBLE IN JULY 2017. VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN WRECKED NOR ABUSED. CLAIMANT MADE ATTEMPTS TO GO THROUGH PROTOCOL AT HONDA CONSUMER CHANNELS. RECEIVED EVALUATION FROM REPUTABLE BODY SHOP USED BY MY LOCAL HONDA. THE PAINT PEALING IS AN ADHESION PROBLEM OCCURING AT MANUFACTURING. HONDA HAS ONLY RECOGNIZED THE PROBLEM IN 25 NORTHERN STATES (BACK DOOR ONLY, DARK COLORS). I LIVE IN THE SOUTH. IRONICALLY, THIS HONDA IS PRODUCED IN LINCOLN, AL. HONDA REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THEIR ERROR NOR DO THEY RESPECT NHTSA. VEHICLE USED DAILY IN TRANSPORT OF MY FAMILY. PAINT PEELING TO BASE COAT ROOF AND BACK PANEL. PICS ATTACHED. CUTTING CORNERS ON PAINT WORK IS UNACCEPTABLE TO THIS CLAIMANT. HONDA OPERATES IN INTERSTATE COMMERCE AND HAS A DUTY AND A CONTRACT WITH CITIZENS THAT PURCHASE THEIR PRODUCTS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE PASSENGER SIDE ELECTRONIC SLIDING DOOR WOULD NOT CLOSE AND REMAINED IN THE OPEN POSITION. THE DOOR ALSO COULD NOT BE CLOSED MANUALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER (NAPLETON HONDA, 17220 TORRENCE AVE, LANCING, IL 60438), BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT NO SOLUTION WAS OFFERED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.
FREQUENT CHECK ENGINE SIGN COMING ON, MECHANIC SAID EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION, OIL BURING OFF, ALTHOUGH HONDA HAS REACHED A SETTLEMENT WITH OWNERS OF ODYSSEY FROM 2008-2013 REGARDING THIS ISSUE, WHEN I CALLED WITH THE COMPLAINT THEY ARE SAYING MY 2012 ODYSSEY IS NOT ON THE LIST OF CARS WITH THIS PROBLEM. BUT MY CAR IS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AS OTHER OWNERS WERE HAVING.
HAVE VIBRATION UP THRU STEERING COLUMN. PROBLEM ORIGINALLY BECAME NOTICEABLE INSIDE OF 10,000 MILES. BY 36,000 MILES SHAKING WAS SEVERE WHEN BRAKING HARD AT HIGH SPEED ESPECIALLY GOING DOWNHILL, BUT ALSO NOTICEABLE, AT LOWER IN CITY DRIVING SPEEDS, WHEN BRAKING AND AFTER THE BRAKES HAVE BEEN USED AND HEATED UP. AT 36,773 MILES THE DEALER TURNED THE ROTORS WHICH ELIMINATED THE VIBRATION FOR A TIME. BUT MUCH LIKE THE CONDITION WHEN THE CAR WAS NEW, THE VIBRATION, OVER TIME AND USE, HAS RETURNED AND IS ONCE AGAIN SEVERE. THIS IS CAUSED BY FAULTY DESIGN OF THE BRAKE ROTORS WHICH WHEN HEATED UP FROM USE WARP CAUSING UNEVEN WEAR OF THE BRAKE PADS WHICH OVER TIME CAUSES THE VIBRATION WHEN BRAKING. HONDA COVERED HALF THE COST FOR THE REPAIR AT 36,773 MILES. DOUBT THEY'LL DO ANYTHING THIS TIME WHEN I TAKE THE CAR IN AGAIN FOR REPAIR AT 73,000 MILES. OWNERS SHOULD NOT GET STUCK WITH COSTLY REPAIRS DUE TO FAULTY DESIGN AND/OR MANUFACTURING. THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT HAS BEEN PREVALENT OF OTHER MODEL YEAR ODYSSEYS AND PILOTS.
THE ORIGINAL FACTORY FRONT BRAKE ROTORS IN THIS VEHICLE (AND ALL OTHERS OF THE SAME MODEL YEAR) DO NOT COOL ADEQUATELY UNDER NORMAL USE, WHICH CAN CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO VIBRATE DRAMATICALLY WHEN BRAKING. TWO SEPARATE DEALERS CLAIM THAT IS IS "NOT A SAFETY HAZARD," BUT THE VIBRATION WAS SO BAD THAT NORMAL DRIVERS OF THIS VEHICLE FEARED FOR LOSS OF CONTROL AND/OR POSSIBLE DAMAGE TO THE BRAKE SYSTEM. A REDESIGNED BRAKE ROTOR IS AVAILABLE FROM THE MANUFACTURER, ALTHOUGH, IN SPITE OF THE OBVIOUS CORRECTION OF A PRIOR DESIGN DEFECT, THE NEW ROTORS ARE NOT COVERED BY ANY WARRANTY PROVISION FOR REPLACEMENT. WE HAVE REPLACED THE FRONT ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS AT A COST OF $755.18. IN THE OPINION OF THIS WRITER, EVERY ODYSSEY OWNER FOR THIS MODEL YEAR OUGHT TO DO THE SAME. GENERAL ONLINE CONSENSUS ON THIS ISSUE APPEARS TO COVER OTHER MODEL YEARS AS WELL AND SUPPORTS THIS DIAGNOSIS AND ITS RESOLUTION IN THIS MANNER. PHOTOS INCLUDE BOTH OLD AND NEW BRAKE ROTORS. THE REDESIGNED ROTORS HAVE VENTS AROUND A MUCH LARGER HUB, UNLIKE THE ORIGINAL ONES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO VIBRATE WHILE THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED DURING THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (BOB LINDSAY HONDA, 900 W PIONEER PKWY, PEORIA, IL 61615) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ROTORS WERE WARPED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. **TR *TR
I WAS GOING TO PACK THE CAR (STATIONARY IN MY DRIVEWAY) ON SAT JULY 7TH FOR A FAMILY REUNION WHEN I PRESSED THE PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR BUTTON ON MY KEY FOB. WHILE WALKING TO MY 2012 HONDA ODYSSEY I HEARD THE NOISE OF THE DOOR OPENING BUT THE DOOR REMAINED SHUT. WHILE NEXT TO THE CAR AND WITHOUT TOUCHING THE HANDLE I HIT THE PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR BUTTON AGAIN, AND AGAIN JUST THE NOISE OF THE DOOR OPENING/CLOSING COULD BE HEARD BUT THE ACTUAL DOOR REMAINED SHUT. I LOOKED UP INTO THE TRACK AND DIDN'T SEE THE CABLE, LOOKING CLOSER AT THE CAR I NOTICED THAT THE CABLE WAS ACTUALLY DANGLING DOWN THE EDGE OF THE SLIDING DOOR. THE CABLE HAD SNAPPED OFF. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT DELLA HONDA IN PLATTSBURGH, NY BEING WORKED ON.
MY 2012 HONDA ODYSSEY WAS STATIONARY IN MY 2 CAR GARAGE THE MORNING OF JAN 10TH 2018. I WAS WITH MY 3 TODDLERS, GETTING READY TO PACK THEM UP IN THE VAN WHEN I PRESSED THE DRIVERS SIDE SLIDING DOOR BUTTON ON MY KEY FOB. IMMEDIATELY AFTER I PRESSED THE BUTTON I HEARD A LOUD POP NOISE AND SCRATCHING. I HELD MY KIDS BACK AND CALLED FOR MY WIFE TO BRING THEM INSIDE. IN THE TIME I TURNED TO GET THE KIDS OUT OF THE GARAGE THE SLIDING DOOR HAD SCRATCHED THE SIDE DOOR PANEL AND THEN THE DOOR POPPED OFF THE CAR AND HIT MY GARAGE WALL, IT WAS HANGING AT A 45 DEGREE ANGLE. THE ONLY THING THAT WAS HOLDING THE DOOR FROM FALLING COMPLETELY FALLING OFF THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY WAS THE MIDDLE CABLE AND THE BOTTOM ROLLER.
THE WINDOW MOLDING/TRIM IN OUR VAN HAS STARTED DETERIORATING ON BOTH SIDES OF THE WINDOWS. IT IS HIGHLY UNUSALLY FOR THIS TO HAPPEN, DESPITE THE AGE OF THE VEHICIAL. PLEASE CHECK THE PHOTOS.
GOT THE P3400 AND/OR THE P3497 ERROR CODES AFTER ENGINE AND FOUND MY OIL WAS AT ALMOST NOTHING. OIL LIGHT NEVER WENT ON. HAVE ALSO HAD TO CHANGE MY SPARK PLUGS TWICE IN TWO YEARS. I AM SO GLAD MY CAR DID NOT SEIZE UP ON ME. HAD TO ADD 3 QUARTS OF OIL AND GOT MY OIL CHANGED TWO MONTHS AGO.
IN A STORE PARKING LOT, THE MINIVAN WAS SHUT OFF AND PARKED, MY HUSBAND TOOK THE KEYS AND LOCKED ME IN THE MINIVAN, NOT KNOWING I WOULD HAVE NO WAY OUT OF THE MINIVAN. I WAITED IN THE MINIVAN PERHAPS 10 MINUTES. THEN, I TRIED TO LEAVE THROUGH THE PASSENGER DOOR. THE DOOR WOULD NOT UNLOCK, BOTH MANUALLY MOVING THE UNLOCK SWITCH NOR HITTING THE UNLOCK BUTTON. INSTEAD THE CAR ALARM WENT OFF. I THEN TRIED TO LOWER THE POWER WINDOW ON THE PASSENGER DOOR, BUT IT DID NOT WORK. I THEN TRIED TO EXIT THE DRIVER DOOR. IT WAS LOCKED. THE MANUAL SWITCH AND AUTOMATIC DOOR UNLOCK BUTTON WOULD NOT WORK. I TRIED TO OPEN THE DRIVER WINDOW THROUGH THE POWER CONTROL BUTTON AND IT DID NOT OPEN. I TRIED TO OPEN THE POWER SUNROOF. IT DID NOT OPEN. I HIT THE OPEN TRUNK BUTTON, IT DID NOT OPEN. I TRIED THE SIDE SLIDING DOORS AND THEY DID NOT UNLOCK. I MADE SURE THE CHILD SAFETY LOCK WAS OFF AND RETRIED ALL OF THE AFOREMENTIONED ITEMS AND NOTHING UNLOCKED. I WAS TRAPPED IN MY MINIVAN ON A WARM DAY. I WAS SWEATING. I CHECKED THE OWNERS MANUAL AND TRIED EVERYTHING IN IT, BUT NONE OF IT WORKED. THE MINIVAN CAR ALARM REMAINED ON FOR A FEW MINUTES AND NO ONE WOULD HELP WALKING BY, PROBABLY BECAUSE OF THE CAR ALARM. AFTER ANOTHER FEW MINUTES, SOMEONE CAME TO THE MINIVAN AND I ASKED THEM FOR HELP AS BEST I COULD. THEY GAVE A DESCRIPTION OF MY MINIVAN/PLATE TO THE NEARBY STORE AND THEY FOUND MY HUSBAND OVER THE STORE INTERCOM. HE CAME OUT AND UNLOCKED ME WITH THE KEYS. I WAS TRAPPED IN THE MINIVAN FOR AROUND 20 MINUTES ALTOGETHER. IF NO ONE WOULD HAVE LUCKILY WALKED BY, I WOULD HAVE BEEN TRAPPED LONGER. I AM SCARED MY KIDS COULD GET TRAPPED IN THE MINIVAN OR I COULD GET TRAPPED AGAIN.
PASSENGER SIDE REAR SEAT IS EJECTING FROM THE FLOOR BOARD AND IS RECLINING ON IT'S OWN WHEN BREAKING OR GOING FORWARD. BOTH ON CITY & HIGHWAY. IT HAPPENED FIRST ON THE HIGHWAY GOING 65 AND MY HUSBAND HAD TO SUDDENLY BRAKE BECAUSE ANOTHER CAR CUT HIM OFF AND OUR 8 YR OLD SON WAS SITTING IN THE SEAT AND SUDDENLY WENT FORWARD AND SIDEWAYS AND THE SEAT RECLINED AND WOULD NOT STAY IN POSITION. THE SEAT CAME OFF THE FLOOR BOARD BRACKETS WHICH ARE SHOWN IN THE PHOTOS . ALSO IN ONE PHOTO YOU WILL SEE THE SPACE BETWEEN THE SEAT AND THE SMALLER SEAT IN THE MIDDLE HOW FAR IT CAME OFF THE BRACKETS.
PURCHASED A WHOLE SET OF MICHELIN PRIMACY MXV4 TIRES ON 10/13/2016, WITH ODOMETER 54993. DURING THE SERVICE ON 04/18/2018, WITH ODOMETER 79700, I WAS INFORMED TWO FRONT TIRES MEASURE BELOW 2/32NDS OF AN INCH, AND THE TIRES NEED TO BE REPLACED.
THE ROTORS WRAP FROM OVERHEATING RESULTING IN SEVERE VIBRATION TO THE VEHICLE. THIS OCCURS ESPECIALLY WHEN BRAKING DURING INCLINES.THE VEHICLE BECOMES DIFFICULT TO BRAKE & CONTROL DUE TO SEVERE VIBRATION OF THE FRONT WHEELS.THE PROBLEM REOCCURS A SHORT TIME AFTER RESURFACING THE ROTORS. HONDA HAS ISSUED NEW REPLACEMENT VENTILATED ROTORS BUT HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL FOR FREE REPLACEMENT OF THE ORIGINAL FRONT ROTORS.
SECOND REPORT OF SAME. HONDA LOOKED AT PROBLEM BUT CLAIMED CANT FIX WITHOUT COMPUTER REPORT. ENGINE ACCELERATED DANGEROUSLY WHILE IDLING FIVE TIMES AFTER EACH TURN OFF IN A PHARMACY DRIVE IN LINE. HAPPENED MARCH 9,, 9:30 AM 7TH SERIOUS INCIDENT TRYING TO FILM BUT HAVE NOT YET SUCCEEDED DUE TO PANIC AND PROXIMITY OF CAMERA WHICH WIFE ALWAYS MOVES. CAR WAS STATIONARY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 HONDA ODYSSEY. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SUSSEX HONDA AT (973) 579-3500 (LOCATED AT 57 HAMPTON HOUSE RD, NEWTON, NJ 07860) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BATTERY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE BATTERY WAS REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO PHILLIPSBURG EASTON HONDA (400 COUNTY ROAD 519, PHILLIPSBURG, NJ 08865) WHERE NO DIAGNOSTIC FAILURE CODES WERE FOUND AND THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT BEING DRIVEN ENOUGH. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED A SECOND TIME; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES AND THE CONTACT WAS PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 06703538. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 13,000.
THE BACK SEAT INVOLUNTARILY MOVES FORWARD WHILE DRIVING.
DRIVER'S SIDE HEATED SEAT NO LONGER FUNCTIONS. ONLINE FORUMS SUGGEST THAT IT IS A CONTINUITY ISSUE IN THE SEAT. THE HEATING WIRE HAS BROKEN SOMEWHERE NO LONGER CREATING A CLOSED CIRCUIT. LOCAL HONDA DEALER ACKNOWLEDGES THE ISSUE BUT WANTS TO CHARGE $600+ TO FIX.
THE PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR GOT DETACHED, THE DEALER INDICATED THAT THE MIDDLE ROLLER BROKE BUT THE DOOR SHOULD HAVE NOT DETACHED FROM THE CAR. I WAS NOT EXPECTING A HEAVY DOOR TO FALL OFF AND I INJURED MY BACK A LITTLE. THIS IS THE WAY THINGS HAPPENED. AROUND 4:40 PM, THE SIDE SLIDING DOOR DID NOT CLOSED CORRECTLY, STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE AND OPEN AGAIN. TRIED FOR ABOUT 1/2 HOUR BUT COULD NOT CLOSE THE DOOR. -5:20 PM, MY WIFE AND I DECIDED TO DRIVE WITH THE DOOR HALF OPEN TO OUR HOME AND DROP THE KIDS -5:40 PM WE REMOVED THE CAR SEATS TO TAKE THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP. -6:15 PM ARRIVED A THE DEALERSHIP BUT SERVICE DEPARTMENT WAS CLOSED. THEY RECOMMENDED TO TRY TO CLOSE IT MANUALLY. 7:00 PM GOT BACK HOME AND ATTEMPTED TO CLOSE THE DOOR, THE DOOR FELL ON ME. FOLLOWING DAY AT 8:30 AM, TOOK CAR TO DEALERSHIP, WHILE MOVING THE DOOR FELL OFF AGAIN, I ATTACHED IT AND USED PASSENGER SEAT BELT TO HOLD IT. 9:00 AM ARRIVED AT DEALERSHIP. 12:56 PM DEALERSHIP CALLED TO INDICATE THE MIDDLE ROLLER BROKE. I ASKED IF THE DOOR SHOULD HAVE FALL OF AND SERVICE AGENT SAID IT SHOULD HAVE NOT.
MY SON WAS STUCK IN THE DRIVER SIDE 3RD ROW SEAT BELT. WE WERE STATIONARY IN A PARKING LOT. THE SEATBELT DID NOT GIVE OR TO RELEASE TO ALLOW US TO LOOSEN THE STRAP ACROSS HIS LAP. THE SEATBELT KEPT LOCKING AND TIGHTING ON HIS STOMACH. WE HAD TO CUT THE SEATBELT TO RELEASE HIM.
THE VAN HAS ABOUT 38000 MILES. THE THIRD ROW SEAT DOES NOT HOOK IN CLAMP AND IS LOSE. IT IS SAFETY ISSUE. THIS IS STATIONARY POSITION.
THERE IS A RECALL FOR SECOND ROW BUT IT IS THIRD ROW THAT DOES NOT CLAMP DOWN AND IS LOSE. IT TOOK ME 2 HOURS TO WIGGLE INTO CLAMP POSITION AS IT WAS NOT SAFE. IF I UNCLAMP, IT WILL NOT CLAMP AGAIN.
AFTER STOPPING THE CAR HAS TRIED TO ACCELERATE ON ITS OWN WHILE THE BRAKE WAS APPLIED. SIX TIMES SINCE PURCHASE, FOUR TIMES THIS YEAR. I HAVE REPORTED THE PROBLEM TWICE TO HONDA SERVICE AS IT OCCURED TWICE ON THE WAY THERE FOR AN OIL CHANGE. THE CAR WAS DEFINITELY STOPPED AT BUSY INTERSECTIONSA AND TURNING IT OFF DID NOT STOP THE PROBLEM IMMEDIATELY. IT REQUIRED TWO OR THREE ON AND OFFS IN BUSY TRAFFICE. HAVE TRIED TO VIDEOTAPE PROBLEM BUT TRAFFIC HAS SPOOKED MY ABILITY AND CONCERN THAT ENGINE WOULD BLOW, SO LOUD IS THE REARING UP. ONLY AFFIRMATION IS MY WIFE AS AN EYEWITNESS ONCE, AND TWO REPAIR BILLS THAT SHOW REPORT OF PROBLEM IN 2017. ONE IN MAY AND ONE IN NOVEMBER. SERVICE SAYS COMPUTER SHOULD CONFIRM PROBLEMS AND THAT IT IS HONDA, NOT HONDA DEALERS ULTIMATE PROBLEM.
DRIVERS SIDE HEATED SEATED NO LONGER WORKS. IT IS LIKELY A CONTINUITY ISSUE WITH HEATING ELEMENT IN SEAT BACK WIRE BREAKING. ONLINE FORUMS SUGGEST A WIDESPREAD ISSUE YET HONDA FAILS TO RECALL. DEALERS WANT $500-700 TO REPAIR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS REVERSING OR IN DRIVE, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL NOISE AND THE ECONO DRIVE WARNING INDICATOR FLASHED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SEVERAL INDEPENDENT MECHANICS, BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE REPLICATED OR DIAGNOSED. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER (GARDEN STATE HONDA, 225 RIVER DR, PASSAIC, NJ 07055, (973) 777-1600) WHERE THE STEERING WHEEL WAS TIGHTENED, BUT THE DEALER DID NOT SPECIFY A REMEDY AND WAS UNABLE TO REPLICATE THE FAILURE WHEN THE DTC WAS NOT SHOWN. THE CONTACT LATER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT WAS UNCERTAIN IF THE VEHICLE WOULD BE REPAIRED BY A DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
2ND ROW SEAT FLIPPED FORWARD DURING MODERATELY HARD BRAKING, INJURING MY CHILD WITH A BUSTED LIP AND SCRATCHES. SHE WAS 6 YRS OLD AND SECURED IN A 5 PT HARNESS CHILD SAFETY SEAT THAT WAS SECURED INTO THIS 2ND ROW SEAT. THE SEAT FLIPPED FORWARD WITH HER IN IT CAUSING HER TO STRIKE THE BACK OF THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. THE SEAT CAN BE MANUAL UNLATCHED FOR REMOVAL AND TO SLIDE IT SIDEWAYS, WHICH WE HAD DONE. APPARENTLY IT NEVER LATCHED BACK PROPERLY, BUT IT APPEARED TO BE FULLY LATCHED. WE WERE TRAVELING BETWEEN 35 AND 40MPH WHEN WE HAD TO STOP UNEXPECTEDLY WHEN THE SEAT FLIPPED FORWARD. IT WAS IN AMARILLO TX ON A CITY STREET WHEN A SHORT GREEN LIGHT QUICKLY CYCLED TO YELLOW, THEN RED. THIS EVENT HAPPENED JUNE 27, 2015. WE NOW "CHECK" AND MAKE SURE BOTH KID'S SEATS ARE LATCHED (THE BEST WE CAN) BY PULLING FORWARD, WITH HEAVY FORCE, ON THE SEATS WHEN BUCKLING KIDS IN THOSE SEATS. THERE APPEARS TO NOW BE EXCESSIVE PLAY IN THE LATCH MECHANISM WHEN PERFORMING THIS "CHECK" THAT I'M NOT COMFORTABLE WITH. I FEEL THESE SEATS NEED TO BE REPLACED AND ARE NOT SAFE. THESE SEATS USED TO SECURE TO THE VEHICLE TIGHTLY, BUT NOW THERE IS EXCESSIVE "PLAY" AND LOTS OF "COMPLIANCE" IN THE SEAT FASTENING SYSTEM THAT SECURES IT TO THE VEHICLE. I'M NOT CONFIDENT, EVEN AFTER MY TRIPLE CHECKING IT EVERY TIME, THAT THIS WON'T HAPPEN AGAIN.
WHEN ITS HEAVILY RAIN AND WIND, WATER COMES INSIDE THROUGH THE ROOF TOP ANTENNA WHILE DRIVING IN AVERAGE SPEED. THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP(DAVID MCDAVID HONDA OF FRISCO) CHECK INTO THIS ONCE, BUT THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING. THEY TRIED BY USING A GARDEN HOSE, BUT IT DIDN'T HAVE AN ISSUE. THEY CONFIRM WITH ME THAT THEY SAW WATER MARKS ON THE ROOF UPHOLSTERY.
I WAS IN AN ACCIDENT ON OCTOBER 21, 2017, WE WERE HEADING TO CABELAS AN OUTDOOR SPORTING GOODS STORE. I WAS NOT AWARE OF ANY STOP SIGNS AND DID NOT NOTICE THE CAR COMING FROM THE LEFT OF ME. BY THE TIME I DID NOTICE I SLAMMED MY BREAKS BUT IT WAS TOO LATE. THE AIRBAGS FOR THIS VAN DID NOT DEPLOY BUT THE LIGHT INDICATOR WAS ON FOR AIRBAGS BEING DEPLOYED. ALSO, THE FRONT SEAT BELTS BECAME LOCKED AFTER THE COLLISION. I WAS LEFT WONDERING WHY MY AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE MY VAN HOME BUT SHOULD HAVE NOT DONE SO SINCE THE SEATS WERE LOCKED.
2012 HONDA ODYSSEY TOURING ELITE, GARAGE KEPT W/ 63K MILES, PEELING PAINT BETWEEN WINDSHIELD AND MOONROOF. HONDA MALL OF GEORGIA NOR HONDA CORPORATION WILL REPAIR PAINT DEFECT. I'VE HAD CLEAR COAT ISSUES ON A BLACK ACCORD V6 COUPE IN THE PAST AND WILL NOT BUY ANOTHER HONDA UNTIL THEY RESOLVE THE PAINT ISSUES.
VERY VIOLENT VIBRATION WHEN BRAKES APPLIED EVEN AT RELATIVELY SLOW SPEEDS, ESPECIALLY GOING DOWNHILL. VEHICLE BECOMES HARD TO CONTROL. HIGH SAFETY CONCERN CONSIDERING IT IS A FAMILY VEHICLE AND CHILDREN ARE OFTEN PRESENT IN THE CAR. DEALERSHIPS AND HONDA US DO NOT COOPERATE ON THE ISSUE. THEY SOLUTION IS TO RE SURFACE FONT BRAKE ROTORS OR REPLACE THEM WITH NEWER VERSION. THE FACT THAT THERE IS A NEWER IMPROVED VERSION OF ROTORS IS AN ADMISSION BY HONDA THAT ORIGINAL BRAKE ROTORS ARE EITHER DEFECTIVE OR HAVE DESIGN FLAW. I HOPE NHTSA ACTS BEFORE SOMEONE GETS INJURED IN THE CRASH.
I STOPPED AT A T-INTERSECTION AND TURNED RIGHT. AS SOON AS I MADE THE TURN, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY BEGAN SHIFTING ODDLY. IT WAS GOING TO VERY HIGH RPMS BEFORE IT WOULD SHIFT. I IMMEDIATELY CHECKED THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE, BUT THE ENGINE WAS NOT OVERHEATING. WE WERE ON A MOUNTAIN ROAD SO I BEGAN LOOKING FOR A PLACE TO PULL OVER. I CHECKED MY REAR VIEW MIRROR AND SAW THE CAR BEHIND ME FLASHING THEIR LIGHTS AND HONKING THEIR HORN. AT THAT POINT I NOTICED SMOKE IN THE REAR VIEW. I IMMEDIATELY STOPPED THE CAR AND AS SOON AS I DID, THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE WENT UP IN FLAMES. MY PREGNANT WIFE AND I GOT OUR THREE LITTLE CHILDREN OUT OF THE CAR EXTREMELY QUICKLY AND THEY GOT BACK DOWN THE ROAD A WAYS TO GET AWAY FROM THE BURNING VEHICLE. I BEGAN THROWING CAR SEATS AND OTHER THINGS OUT OF THE CAR AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE, BUT WITHIN TWO MINUTES AFTER I STOPPED THE CAR, THE FLAMES WERE TO BIG TO BE ANYWHERE NEAR IT. THE CAR BURNED EXTREMELY FAST AND THE FIRE WAS EXTREMELY HOT, COMPLETELY DESTROYING THE CAR.
I WAS IN A FRONT END COLLISION. MODERATE ACCIDENT, GOING APPROX 35 MPH HITTING ANOTHER CAR WITH ENOUGH FORCE TO SPIN THE CAR THAT I HIT. MY FRONT AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CAR WAS NOT ABLE TO BE DRIVEN OFF THE SCENE. I WAS DRIVING STRAIGHT AND HIT THE OTHER CAR WITH THE FRONT OF MY CAR IN HER PASSENGER DOOR. I WAS ON A CITY STREET.
VSC LIGHT ON BRAKES LOCKED UP ALL 4 WHEELS CANNOT MOVE FORWARD OR REVERSE, REAR BRAKE LIGHTS INOPERABLE, VEHICLE PARKED IN DRIVEWAY. WHEN STARTED VSA LIGHT CAME ON IN DASH. BRAKES LOCKED UP COULD NOT MOVE REQUIRING A TOW TO HONDA DEALER IN MURFREESBORO TN
I WAS WASHING THE WINDSHIELD ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. I LIFTED UP THE W/S WIPER ELEMENT SUPERSTRUCTURE AND THE WIPER ARM DISLODGED AND SMACKED AND CRACKED THE WINDSHIELD UPON IMPACT. THE WIPERS (BOTH SIDES) OPERATED NORMALLY AND WE HAD JUST RETURNED FROM A VERY RAINY VACATION. THERE WERE NO SIGNS OF ANY ABNORMAL OPERATIONS NOR INSTALLATIONS. I BELIEVE WIPER SUPERSTRUCTURES ARE SUPPOSED TO STAY INSTALLED ONTO THE WIPER ARMS UNTIL CERTAIN PROCEDURES ARE COMPLETED TO DISASSEMBLE, ONE OF WHICH SHOULD NOT BE LIFTING UP FROM THE WINDSHIELD TO AID CLEANING. THE VEHICLE WAS IN OUR DRIVEWAY GETTING WASHED.
FIVE SEAT-BELTS ARE FRAYING DESPITE NORMAL USE (USED IN SUBURBS). FOR ONE OF THE AFFECTED SEAT-BELTS, FRAYED SECTION RUBBED/SCRAPED AGAINST D-RING AND DEVELOPED A SLIT. HONDA DEALER STORE REMARKED USAGE OF CHILD SEAT COULD HAVE CAUSED THIS, THEREFORE IT WILL NOT BE REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY. WE USE A CAR SEAT MEETING FEDERAL CHILD RESTRAINT SAFETY STANDARD (AND IN THIS CASE, THE CAR SEAT WAS NOT EVEN RUBBING AGAINST THE SLIT SECTION). HONDA NORTH AMERICA STATES ANY DEFECT ON THE SEAT-MATERIAL IS NOT CONSIDERED PART OF SEAT-BELT FUNCTION, HENCE PRODUCT WARRANTY DOES NOT APPLY. THE WARRANTY:"HONDA WILL, AT ITS OPTION, REPAIR OR REPLACE ANY HONDA SEAT BELT COMPONENT THAT FAILS TO FUNCTION PROPERLY DURING NORMAL USE". TERM IS UP TO 15 YEARS OR 150,000 MILES. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS 5 YEAR OLD CAR WITH NORMAL USE, MOSTLY DRIVEN IN A SMALL CITY WITH CHILDREN IN BACK SEAT(S). THIS SEAT-BELT ISSUE IS CONCERNING DUE TO THE FACT THAT THIS IS HAPPENING TO A RELATIVELY RECENTLY MANUFACTURED CAR, BUT ALSO, HONDA ODYSSEY IS PERCEIVED AS A SAFE FAMILY CAR. PARENTS SHOULD FEEL ENCOURAGED TO USE STANDARD CAR SEAT WITHOUT WORRYING ABOUT SEAT BELT FRAYING/DAMAGED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. HERITAGE HONDA WESTMINSTER (580 BALTIMORE BLVD, WESTMINSTER, MD) WAS CONTACTED AND DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE ASSEMBLY WAS DEFECTIVE AND THE SHORT BLOCK AND PISTONS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO HERITAGE HONDA WESTMINSTER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER MALFUNCTIONED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 171,332.
I WENT TO A CAR WASH ON 8/9/2017 WITH ATTENDANTS. WHEN THE CAR CAME OUT TO BE BUFFED THE EMPLOYEES PULLED THE CAR OVER TO BE INSPECTED. THEY SAID THE SUN/MOON ROOF HAD SHATTERED. AFTER MUCH DISCUSSION AS TO ANY PROBLEMS SUCH AS ROCKS OR OTHER INJURIES I CALLED MY DEALER WHICH WAS NEARBY. I DROVE IT THERE AFTER THE HOLE IN THE ROOF WAS SOMEWHAT SECURED BY PLASTIC AND TAPE. THE DEALERSHIP MADE NO MENTION OF OTHER PROBLEMS OF A SUN ROOF. THEY SAID THEY COULD FIX IT. I ORDERED A NEW SUN ROOF WHICH IS TO BE DELIVERED TOMORROW. I WAS NOT MADE AWARE THAT THIS WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM IN OTHER CARS WITH SUN ROOFS UNTIL SEARCHING THE INTERNET THE NEXT DAY. HOLE IS TAPED NOW SO WILL GET PICTURES WHEN I GET TO THE DEALERSHIP TOMORROW, 8/11/2017.
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING OUT 2012 HONDA ODYSSEY ON A HIGHWAY AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STARTED FLASHING. SHE PULLED OVER, TURNED OFF THE CAR AND RESTARTED IT. AFTER A SHORT PERIOD, THE LIGHT FLASHED AGAIN. SHE HAD A AAA TOW THE VEHICLE BACK TO OUR MECHANIC, WHO INDICATED THAT SOME OF THE SPARK PLUGS HAD FOULED, AND HE NOTIFIED US OF THE "EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION" ISSUE RELATED TO THESE VEHICLES, A KNOW ISSUE TO HONDA. THE MECHANIC INDICATED THAT THE EXCESS OIL CONSUMPTION WILL BE AN ONGOING PROBLEM. THE OIL GAUGE ON THE VEHICLE INDICATED FALSELY INDICATED THAT THE OIL LEVEL WAS FINE, SO THERE IS NO WARNING THAT THE ENGINES ARE ABOUT TO FAIL. THIS IS A DANGEROUS CONDITION, AND PUTS FAMILIES AT RISK FOR AS LONG AS THEY OWN VEHICLES WITH THIS PROBLEM.
I JUST HAD TO HAVE THE PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR MOTOR REPLACED ON MY ODYSSEY. THE DOOR WOULD NOT CLOSE. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO CLOSE, THEY DOOR WOULD SHUT ABOUT 3/4 OF THE WAY AND THEN STOP. SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE MOTOR WAS BAD AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. MY CONCERN IS THAT THE ODYSSEY WAS DESIGNED WITH A SWITCH WHERE YOU CAN DISABLE THE MOTORIZED FEATURE AND OPEN/CLOSE THE DOOR MANUALLY. HOWEVER, WHEN MY MOTOR WENT BAD, I WAS UNABLE TO MANUALLY OPEN AND CLOSE THE DOOR. SERVICE DEPARTMENT ADVISED THAT THE CABLE SYSTEM RUNS THROUGH THE MOTOR SO WHEN IT WENT BAD, THE CABLES WOULD NO LONGER FUNCTION ALLOWING MANUAL OPERATION. THIS SEEMS LIKE A DESIGN FLAW THAT CAN POSE A SAFETY ISSUE AS MY DOOR WAS STUCK IN THE OPEN POSITION UNABLE TO CLOSE. THIS OCCURRED AFTER ARRIVING HOME AND WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED.
DRIVING ABOUT 60 MILES PER HOUR ON THE FREEWAY HEARD A LOUD "POP" THAT SOUNDED LIKE A GUNSHOT BOTH PASSENGER AND DRIVER SIDE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. THERE, WAS NO IMPACT TO VEHICLE, NO ROAD DEBRIS, NO SWERVING OR ROLLOVER. I WAS DRIVING AND THE BAGS SPONTANEOUSLY DEPLOYED.
AS MY WIFE WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY THE VEHICLE STOPPED ACCELERATING FLUCTUATING RPMS AND ACCELERATION FOR REST OF DRIVE HOME. AFTER GETTING HOME EVEN IN PARKING AT IDLE WHEN I TURN ON THE AIR CONDITIONING THE VEHICLE VIBRATES. IN PARK WHEN I TURN UP THE RPMS IT SPUTTERS AFTER ABOUT 3K RPM. 100K MILES
PAINT BEGAN PEELING IN TWO SMALL SPOTS ON ROOF DURING A DRIVE, AND CURRENTLY THE ENTIRE FRONT PART OF THE ROOF IS PAINT-FREE. PAINT HAS RECENTLY BEGUN PEELING IN A SMALL SPOT BEHIND THE DRIVER-SIDE SLIDING DOOR. I'M TRYING TO AVOID THE $1,000+ REPAIR COST BY DOING IT MYSELF, BUT AS I PREP THE AREA (LIGHT SANDING), LARGE SHEETS OF PAINT ARE CONTINUALLY PEELING OFF. I'M SURE THE ENTIRE VEHICLE IS DEFECTIVE.
THE POSITIVE BATTERY CABLE BECAME DISCONNECTED FROM THE BATTERY TERMINAL POST WHILE DRIVING AT FULL HIGHWAY SPEED (75 MPH)!! THIS RESULTED IN COMPLETE ELECTRICAL FAILURE. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD, BUT THE DOOR LOCKS WERE LOCKED AND INOPERABLE. WITHOUT POWER I WAS UNABLE TO UNLOCK THE DOORS OR ROLL DOWN THE WINDOWS. WITHOUT POWER I HAD NO AIR CONDITIONING. I WAS TRAPPED IN THE CAR ON A HOT DAY. THE BATTERY CABLE MISMATCH (CLAMP TOO BIG TO TIGHTEN COMPLETELY ON POST) IS A KNOWN ODYSSEY PROBLEM THAT HAS BEEN DISCUSSED ON ONLINE FORUMS. DOOR AUTO-LOCKING PROBLEMS IN A VARIETY OF HONDA MODELS HAVE ALSO BEEN DOCUMENTED. PUTTING THE TWO TOGETHER IS A DEADLY MIX. WITHOUT A CELL PHONE TO CALL MY HUSBAND AND 911, I AND MY THREE SMALL DOGS WOULD HAVE DIED IN THE HOT CAR. THIS IS A FATAL DESIGN FLAW.
THE FRONT LEFT AXLE IS WOBBLING AND BEGINS AT HIGHER SPEEDS. THE BOOT ON HE WHEEL HAS BECOME CRACKED AND IS NOW LEAKING. HAD THE CAR INSPECTED AND THE BOOT IS DEFINITELY LEAKING AND THEIR IS DEFINITE PLAY IN THE AXLE. MY SISTER HAS THE SAME VAN AND HERS DID THE EXACT SAME THING. VERY DANGEROUS. FEEL LIKE THIS SHOULD BE A MANUFACTURING WARRANTY ISSUE SINCE I HAVE FOUND SEVERAL OTHER HONDA ODYSSEY OWNERS WHO HAVE THE SAME ISSUES. HAPPENS ON CITY AND HIGHWAY, MAKES KNOCKING NOISE WHEN TURNING EVEN AT LOWER SPEEDS.
MY VAN HAS AN ISSUE WITH EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION (A KNOWN ISSUE BY HONDA), THE SPARK PLUGS EXCESSIVELY FIRE WHICH IS WHAT CAUSES THE EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION AS WELL AS AN EXCESSIVE NEED TO CHANGE THE SPARK PLUG. THIS MAY ALSO LEAD TO PRE MATURE WEAR ON THE ENGINE,ALSO MAY CAUSE THE ENGINE TO GET TOO HOT WITH NO OIL IN IT AND MAY CATCH FIRE. WHEN I FIRST NOTICED THE ISSUE I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND WAS TOLD IT HAD NO OIL IN IT (MY OIL LIGHT NEVER CAME ON) THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME I WAS TOLD THIS AND THE FIRST TIME I WENT TO A NON-HONDA MECHANIC . I AM NOW HAVING TO UNDER GO A SERIES OF TESTS IN ORDER TO GET THE ISSUE FIXED
PROBLEM WITH FRONT BRAKES. WHILE TRAVELING ON VACATION DRIVING DOWN A LONG INCLINE WHILE APPLYING BRAKES TO STAY IN THE SPEED LIMIT MY FRONT END STARTED SHAKEN SO BAD I HAD TO PULL OVER. WHILE HOME I SEARCH THIS ON THE WEB TO SHOW I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS PROBELM. ROTORS GET WARPED. THIS IS DANGEROUS AND SCARY. THIS CAR NEEDS A SAFTETY RECALL. 22,000 THOUSAND MILES. A $30,000 VAN.
WE PURCHASED VAN USED AT 33K MILES. AT THAT TIME IT ALREADY DISPLAYED A SLIGHT VIBRATION IN THE STEERING WHEEL WHEN COMING TO A STOP WHILE BREAKING LIGHTLY. I THOUGHT IT WAS OUT OF ALIGNMENT AND MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH DEALER TO FIX. PER DEALER FRONT ROTORS WERE RESURFACED BECAUSE OF 'UNEVEN SURFACE' AND THAT WAS THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. AFTER A COUPLE OF MONTHS PROBLEM BEGAN AGAIN. IT STARTED WITH A VERY SLIGHT VIBRATION ONLY NOTICEABLE WHEN BREAKING FROM ABOUT 60 MPH. AFTER A COUPLE OF WEEKS OF DRIVING DURING THE WINTER WEATHER IN ILLINOIS THE VIBRATION BECAME UNNERVING AS THE STEERING WHEEL SHOOK SO VIOLENTLY. STILL UNDER WARRANTY, I RETURNED TO DEALER TO ADDRESS PROBLEM. THEY WOULD NOT FIX THE PROBLEM BECAUSE THEY CLAIMED THAT THE REMAINING WARRANTY WOULD NOT NOT COVER THE ROTORS OR ANY BRAKE ISSUES, BUT WOULD GLADLY CHANGE ALL BRAKES AND DO AN ALL WHEEL ALIGNMENT FOR ABOUT $1200. INSTEAD I OPTED TO SEE MY TRUSTED MECHANIC OF OVER 25 YEARS WHO CHANGED THE FRONT ROTORS AND PADS IN EARLY FALL OF 2016. THE PROBLEM DISAPPEARED FOR ABOUT THREE MONTHS AND I HAD TO RETURN RIGHT AFTER THE 2017 NEW YEAR BECAUSE THE VIBRATION HAD RETURNED AT A CONSIDERABLE LEVEL ONCE AGAIN. "MAYBE IT WAS A BAD BATCH," HE SAID, "VERY UNUSUAL FOR THAT TO HAPPEN." THE ROTORS HAD A ONE YEAR WARRANTY SO THEY WERE REPLACED AT NO CHARGE EXCEPT FOR LABOR. HOWEVER, TODAY IS 4/22/17 AND I AM BACK AGAIN FOR THE SAME PROBLEM BECAUSE THE VIBRATION IS GETTING WORSE ONCE AGAIN AND I MUST DRIVE ON THE FREEWAY OFTEN. I HAVE THREE KIDS AND I FEAR FOR THEIR SAFETY WHENEVER THEY RIDE IN THE VAN. THIS SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE THAT MANY OTHER OWNERS ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT FOR SOME TIME AND IT STILL HAS NOT BEEN ADDRESSED PROPERLY. I HAD ONE SERVICE REP AT THE DEALER TELL ME OFF THE RECORD THAT THE DISKS ARE TOO SMALL FOR THE SIZE OR WEIGHT OF THE VAN AND THAT IS WHY THEY OVERHEAT AND WARP SO EASILY.
WHEN I ARRIVED AT HONDA OF LISLE (4475 LINCOLN AVE, LISLE, IL 60532) THIS MORNING FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND RECALL SERVICE 16V-933, THE SERVICE GREETER TOLD ME THAT BECAUSE I REFUSED TO PROVIDE AN EMAIL ADDRESS (PRESUMABLY FOR MARKETING PURPOSES), AMERICAN HONDA MOTOR CO., INC. WOULD NO LONGER MAIL SAFETY RECALL NOTICES TO ME OR MAKE RECALL INFORMATION AVAILABLE FOR MY VEHICLE. WHEN I PROTESTED, HE AGREED IT WAS A TERRIBLE POLICY BUT SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THAT HE OR I COULD DO ABOUT IT. THIS IS AN UNCONSCIONABLE AND LIFE-THREATENING POLICY. PLEASE DO WHAT YOU CAN TO STOP THIS ACTION OF AMERICAN HONDA MOTOR CO., INC. AND KEEP OWNERS OF HONDA PRODUCTS SAFE, NO MATTER WHAT THEIR MARKETING PREFERENCES. MANY THANKS.
2ND ROW SEAT SWUNG FORWARD SUDDENLY WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND BRAKED AT A STOPLIGHT. I BELIEVE THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT IS DESCRIBED IN THE CURRENT RECALL OF HONDA ODYSSEYS. MY DAUGHTER RAMMED HER CHIN AGAINST THE FRONT SEAT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED AND THE EMISSION WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AWAITING DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
LOW FUEL WARNING LIGHT COMES ON VERY LATE WITH <1 GAL FUEL LEFT (ENOUGH FOR LESS THAN 20 MILES ON HIGHWAY). THE MANUAL SAYS THAT IT SHOULD COME ON MUCH EARLIER (ABOUT 3 GAL MARK). THE SENSOR WAS CHANGED BY THE DEALER. STILL THE PROBLEM PERSISTS.
AFTER 2 YEARS A SERIOUS FUEL LEAK OCCURRED AT THE FUEL TANK. IT WAS REPAIRED AND ASSURED THE PROBLEM SOLVED UNDER WARRANTY. AGAIN AFTER ANOTHER 2 YEARS THE SERIOUS LEAKED OCCURRED. WE PAID FOR THE REPAIR AND AGAIN ASSURED THE PROBLEM RESOLVED. WE WERE TOLD IF THE VAN TO BE SOLD THE BUYER MUST BE MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THIS GAVE US NO REASSURANCE. ALL PROBLEMS OCCURRED WHEN MOVING FROM PARKED POSITION.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH AND WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, THE VEHICLE MADE A LOUD NOISE, SHUTTERED, AND VIBRATED INTERMITTENTLY WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRONT AND REAR ROTORS WERE WARPED. THE FRONT AND REAR ROTORS WERE SHAVED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000.
MY MINIVAN HAS 38000 MILES AND START WITH A SMALL NOISE WENT I MAKE A RIGHT TURN AND GETTING WORST, I TOOK IT TO THE MECHANIC AND THEY DON'T KNOW WHERE THE NOISE IS COMING FROM.THE POINT IS THIS VEHICLE WE DON'T USE A LOT AND WE HAVE MOSTLY HI WAY MILES, WE HAVE NOT EVEN FINISH PAY FOR IT AND WE FEEL LIKE WE DRIVING AN OLD CAR. I READ SOME REVIEWS AND OTHER PEOPLE HAS THE SAME ISSUE. *TR
I'M SUBMITTING THIS NOW IN RESPONSE TO AN EVENT THAT HAPPENED SEVERAL YEARS AGO, TRIGGERED BY A DEC. 27 2017 RECALL NOTICE. MY VEHICLE IS NOT LISTED AS AFFECTED BUT I BELIEVE IT SHOULD BE BECAUSE THE SAME PROBLEM HAPPENED TO ME ABOUT 3 YEARS AGO. ON THAT DAY, A SECOND ROW OUTBOARD SEAT TIPPED FORWARD AND BANGED AGAINST THE BACK OF THE DRIVER'S SEAT DURING A SUDDEN DECELERATION (WE WERE GOING DOWN A SMALL HILL TOWARD A STOPLIGHT, WHERE A VEHICLE APPEARED IN CROSS-TRAFFIC AND UNEXPECTEDLY BLEW THROUGH ITS RED LIGHT, REQUIRING A SUDDEN STOP BY OUR VEHICLE). MY THEN-3-YEAR-OLD WAS SEATED IN HIS FORWARD FACING CAR SEAT, A BRITAX MARATHON CONNECTED USING THE LATCH ANCHOR SYSTEM, AND THE ENTIRE VEHICLE SEAT/CAR SEAT COMBINATION FLIPPED FORWARD. HE WAS SHAKEN AND SLIGHTLY BRUISED BUT OTHERWISE FINE, I BELIEVE AS A RESULT OF THE PROTECTION FROM THE SIDE WINGS OF THE CAR SEAT. AT THE TIME THE SECOND ROW SEATS HAD NOT RECENTLY BEEN MOVED. ABOUT TWO WEEKS PRIOR THEY HAD BEEN REMOVED FOR HAULING A LARGE PIECE OF FURNITURE. AFTERWARD I REINSTALLED THE VEHICLE SEATS AND BELIEVED THEM TO BE FULLY AND FIRMLY AFFIXED TO THE VEHICLE. I WAS EMOTIONALLY DISTURBED BY NOT ONLY THE TIPPING EVENT ITSELF, BUT BY THE KNOWLEDGE THAT THE SEAT HAD BEEN DANGEROUSLY UNATTACHED DURING THOSE TWO WEEKS. I INTENDED TO SUBMIT A REPORT BUT THEN DOUBTED MYSELF. HOWEVER, THE CONFIRMATION FROM THE RECENT RECALL NOTICE THAT THIS IS AN ISSUE FOR SOME HONDA ODYSSEY VEHICLES (AND THE KNOWLEDGE THAT THERE IS A REPAIR AVAILABLE) IMMEDIATELY MADE ME WANT TO SUBMIT THIS REPORT.
MY 2012 HONDA ODYSSEY HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE 2ND (BACK) ROW LEVER OR LATCH - I COULDN'T GET IT TO PROPERLY LATCH. IT CAUSED THE SEAT TO BE LOOSE AND IT WOULD GO BACKWARDS SOMETIMES WHEN I STOPPED. ON OCTOBER 6, 2016, I PAID $345.00 TO HONDA OF JEFFERSON CITY TO GET THIS PROBLEM FIXED. I WANT HONDA TO REFUND MY $345.00.
THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED AS MISSING ON 5 OF 6 CYLINDERS. DRIVING PERFORMANCE IS GREATLY IMPAIRED. THE VEHICLE MISSES WHILE STATIONARY IDLING AND WHILE OPERATING IN MOTION. THE EXHAUST BLOWS SOOT ON THE PASSENGER REAR END AND SIDE OF THE VAN. FUEL ECONOMY HAS DROPPED TO ABOUT 18 ON THE HWY. HONDA DECLINES TO MAKE THE REPAIR UNTIL IT DISPLAYS DTC CODE. DEALERSHIPS ADVISE THAT IT IS COMPENSATING FOR THE MISSES CURRENTLY. THIS VAN IS INCLUDED IN THE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT FOR 3.5 ENGINES MADE BY HONDA. EVEN WITH IT BEING A KNOWN ISSUE AND THEIR OWN MECHANICS DIAGNOSING THE MISSING THEY HAVE SET REQUIREMENTS THAT PROLONG REPAIRS. *TR
I WAS IN MY DRIVEWAY, STOPPED, GETTING READY TO PULL IN TO THE GARAGE. I HAD STOPPED WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, AND THEN I PRESSED THE BUTTON TO OPEN THE GARAGE DOOR AND WAITED FOR THE GARAGE DOOR TO GO UP. WHILE THE GARAGE DOOR WAS STARTING TO GO UP AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS STILL PRESSED, THE CAR SUDDENLY, UNINTENTIONALLY, UNEXPECTEDLY ACCELERATED BY ITSELF INTO THE GARAGE DOOR CAUSING THE WINDSHIELD TO BREAK ON THE GARAGE DOOR AND THE GARAGE DOOR TO BREAK OFF OF ITS TRACKS. IT IS UNKNOWN THE COMPONENT OR SYSTEM THAT CAUSED THE SUDDEN UNEXPECTED ACCELERATION. IT COULD HAVE BEEN THE ENGINE, FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM, OR SPEED CONTROL. BUT SOMETHING CAUSED A SUDDEN UNEXPECTED ACCELERATION WHILE THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS APPLIED.
1. BRAKES AND ROTORS ARE UNDERSIZED AND WARPED CAUSING A MASSIVE VIBRATION WHEN YOU BREAK. HONDA DEALERS WORKED 3 TIMES ON IT BUT THE PROBLEM CONTINUED UNTIL I PURCHASED AFTER MARKET PARTS AND REPLACED THEM. 2. I RECEIVED NO WARRANTY LETTER OR WARNING ABOUT AN ENGINE FAILURE (PISTON RECALL WARNING) LETTING ME KNOW THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED REPAIRS. I WAS ON A TRIP WHEN THE CAR ALMOST STALLED ON THE FREEWAY AND I HAD TO TAKE EVASIVE ACTIONS TO PREVENT A DEVASTATING ACCIDENT.
THE REAR TIRE WENT FLAT RATHER SUDDENLY. HONDA DOES NOT MAKE THE CAMBER ADJUSTABLE (UNLIKE OTHER MANUFACTURERS), WHICH LEADS TO INNER TIRE WEAR. THIS AFFECTS THE HANDLING AND ABILITY TO BREAK. WE DID NOT HAVE AN ACCIDENT THIS TIME, BUT I AM NOT COMFORTABLE THAT THIS WON'T BE THE CASE IN THE FUTURE. HONDA DOES THIS SO THAT THE CUSTOMERS HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO HAVE COSTLY ROUTINE MAINTENANCE AND PURCHASES (NEW TIRES). IT IS SHAMEFUL.
THERE WAS A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND UPON INSPECTION, HONDA NOTIFIED ME THAT THE PISTON RING REPLACEMENT WAS NECESSARY AND THAT HONDA EXTENDED THE WARRANTY TO 100K MILES. THE PROBLEM WAS THE TIMING BELT AND FEW OTHER PARTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE THEY WOULD GET DAMAGED DURING THIS WARRANTY REPAIR. HONDA REFUSED TO PAY FOR THE TIMING BELT REPLACEMENT AND MADE ME PAY ALMOST $800.00 IN PARTS AND LABOR. 2. MY CAR STARED TO VIBRATE EVERY TIME I BRAKED FROM ABOUT 15K MILES. I TOOK IT IN AND INSTEAD OF MAKING THE PROPER REPAIRS THE SERVICE CENTER HAD THE FRONT ROTORS RE-SURFACED 3 TIMES. THE PROBLEM KEPT ON COMING BACK BECAUSE THE FRONT ROTORS ARE UNDERSIZED FOR THE VEHICLE. I HAD TO BUY MY OWN FRONT ROTORS FROM A GENERIC MAKER ALONG WITH PADS TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. IT COST ME $350 FOR PARTS AND $200 AT HONDA SERVICE CENTER TO REPAIR IT PROPERLY. 3. THERE'S A POPPING SOUND WHEN I MAKE TURNS. I'VE ADDRESSED IT AND NO ONE WILL FIX IT. I DON'T THINK ITS NORMAL THAT CLICKING AND POPPING SOUND COMES WHILE STEERING.
HONDA ODYSSEY ARE NOT MANUFACTURING OR FABRICATING QUALITY PRODUCTS. I HAD SAME ISSUE WITH MY 2012 HONDA ODYSSEY EX AS MENTIONED IN THE LINK BELOW HTTP://WWW.CARCOMPLAINTS.COM/HONDA/ODYSSEY/2013/BRAKES/SERVICE_BRAKES.SHTML BRAKES VIBRATE EXCESSIVELY WHEN BRAKE APPLIED, AND WHEN AT LEGAL SPEEDS OF 60 OR 70 VEHICLE IS SOMETIMES HARD TO CONTROL. MY MECHANICS THAT WORK ON THESE VEHICLES AND AFTER SEARCHING THE WEB IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT THE DISC DESIGN DOES NOT ALLOW FOR THE HEAT FROM BRAKING TO DISSIPATE THUS WARPING THE DISC. MY MECHANIC TRIED TO FIX IT BY SURFACING YOUR ORIGINAL DISC BUT FOUND THAT DUE TO THE CASTING OR FABRICATION ISSUES SURFACING WAS NOT POSSIBLE, AND REVEALING ROUGH RING SURFACES AGAIN AND AGAIN AFTER REPEATED RESURFACING. AS IT COULD CAUSE A SEVERE ACCIDENT, I GOT IT REPLACED RIGHT WAY TO AVOID ACCIDENT WITH AFTERMARKET ONE THAT IS RUSTED QUICKLY THAT I DO NOT LIKE. I FEEL HONDA SHOULD REPLACE THE ORIGINAL DISCS THROUGH A NEAREST HONDA DEALER WITH NEWLY DESIGNED ONES TO ALLEVIATE THIS PROBLEM. WHEN I COMPLAINED, HONDA CONSIDERED IT AS MAINTENANCE ISSUE AND PART OF THE BRAKING SYSTEM, BUT THAT IS NOT TRUE. THEIR SUPPLIER MAKES BAD BRAKE ROTOR. RESURFACING SHOULD RESOLVE THE PROBLEM, AND ROTOR SHOULD NOT REVEAL ROUGH RING SURFACE (PHOTO ATTACHED) - THIS IS GENERAL MAINTENANCE ON BRAKES. I AM HAPPY TO HAND OVER OR SHIP THE DEFECTIVE DISC IF YOU NEED IT FOR FURTHER INVESTIGATION IN RESPECT TO ITS QUALITY AND MANUFACTURING ISSUES WITH THE VENDOR.
LOW BEAMS ARE NOT BRIGHT ENOUGH FOR DRIVING.. CAN'T SEE SEE MOST OR ANY SIGN CLEARLY ON DARK HIGHWAY AND ROADS. VERY UNSAFE AND SCARY TO DRIVE AT NIGHT.
VIBRATION WHEN BRAKING.. HAD TAKEN IT TO THE HONDA SERVICE TWICE, THEY SAID THE ROTORS WERE WARPED AND FIXED IT TWICE AND STILL THE ISSUE IS REPEATING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE DRIVING 37 MPH, THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG AND THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE CURTAIN AIR BAGS DEPLOYED INDEPENDENTLY. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. "TAKATA RECALL" I AM DRIVING AND WHEN I HAVE TO BRAKE AT A TURN, THE BRAKES DON'T WANT TO WORK. I WAS PRESSING WAY DOWN, ALMOST PUSHING AT THE FLOOR THEN THEY TAKE A GRAB. THAT'S RIDICULOUS. I DRIVE ON A ROAD WHERE VIEWS NEAR TURNS ARE NOT VISIBLE AT ALL. SOMEONE DRIVES OUT AND YOU HAVE TO BRAKE IN A SECOND, AND BRAKES DON'T WANT TO GRAB. WITH FOUR KIDS, YOU ARE PUTTING EVERYONE IN DANGER BETWEEN LIFE AND DEATH.
THE BATTERY CUTS OUT WHEN I DRIVE THROUGH A PUDDLE OF WATER MORE THAN 2" HIGH. THE DASHBOARD BATTERY LIGHT COMES ON & THE STEERING LOCKS. THIS VERY DANGEROUS WHEN I AM MAKING A RIGHT TURN & HAVE TO DRIVE THROUGH THAT PUDDLE THAT COLLECTS ON THE CORNER. THIS IS VERY COMMON IN RAINY SOUTH FLORIDA. WHEN I'M IN THE TURN & THE BATTERY CUTS OT & THE STEERING LOCKS UP, I HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO DRIVE STRAIGHT & PRAY THAT ANOTHER CAR IS NOT RIGHT NEXT TO ME, THAT I'LL END UP SLAMMING INTO. SEVERAL MECHANICS HAVE EXPLIANED TO ME THAT, APPARENTLY, A BATTERY CABLE IS MOUNTED TOO LOW ON THE CAR. PLEASE ADVISE.
LIKE MANY OTHERS HERE, I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH MY ROTORS WARPING. I HAD MY FIRST PROBLEM RIGHT AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRED. I HAD TAKEN A LONG ROAD TRIP OVER THE SUMMER, AND THE MILES PUSHED ME OUT OF WARRANTY. I HAD TO PAY THE LOCAL HONDA DEALER TO RESURFACE THE ROTORS(OVER $200!). LESS THAN ONE YEAR LATER, I EXPERIENCED THE SAME SHAKING ETC WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES. HONDA DID RESURFACE THEM A SECOND TIME AT THEIR COST (SINCE IT WAS WITHIN ONE YEAR). I WAS TOLD AT THAT TIME BY THE DEALER, THAT IF IT HAPPENED AGAIN, THE ROTORS WOULD HAVE TO BE COMPLETELY REPLACED. IT'S NOW 10 MONTHS LATER, AND ONCE AGAIN I AM EXPERIENCING THE PROBLEM. THE DEALER CAN'T DO ANYTHING FOR ME. I WAS TOLD BY MORE THAN ONE EMPLOYEE THAT THEY SEE THIS PROBLEM OFTEN, AND THAT THIS STYLE VAN IS MUCH HEAVIER THAN MY OLD ODYSSEY, AND THAT'S WHY THEY ARE WARPING, UNLIKE MY LAST VAN. I AM EXTREMELY FRUSTRATED! I NOW HAVE TO PAY THEM FOR NEW ROTORS AND PADS, AND I KNOW THAT IN A YEAR, WILL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AGAIN AND AGAIN! SHAME ON HONDA FOR NOT STANDING BEHIND THEIR PRODUCTS.
CAR SUDDENLY STALLED WHILE DRIVING WITHOUT WARNING (LUCKILY IN PARKING LOT). WOULD NOT RE-START AND HAD TO BE TOWED TO MECHANIC. WAS FOUND TO BE DEFECTIVE RIGHT WIRING HARNESS. NO DAMAGE VISIBLE TO WIRING HARNESS. ~70,000 MILES ON VEHICLE.
THERE IS A POPPING NOISE WHEN TURNING. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER FOR SERVICE AND THE FOLLOWING WAS REPORTED: "HEARD NOISE COMING FROM POWER STEERING" "COMPARED TO NEW UNIT AND HAD SAME NOISE" "NOISE IS FROM PRESSURE BEING PUT ON PUMP ON TIGHT TURNS. NO ISSUE WITH THE SYSTEM FOUND" "NO REPAIRS TO BE MADE AT THIS TIME". FEEL NOT SAFE TO DRIVE.
ROTORS HAVE WARPED IN A TIME FRAME OUTSIDE THE SCOPE OF NORMAL. ROTORS ARE DESIGNED IN SUCH A WAY THEY CAN GET OVERHEATED AND WARP DUE TO BEING UNABLE TO COOL OFF BETWEEN USES. VEHICLE WEIGHT COMBINED WITH POOR DESIGN OF ROTORS CREATE WEAR AND TEAR THAT HAPPENS MORE QUICKLY THAN WHAT SHOULD BE ACCEPTABLE THEREFORE CREATING A SAFETY HAZARD.
THE FRONT BRAKE ROTORS ARE UNDERSIZED AND WILL WARP WITH USE CAUSING VIBRATION DURING BRAKING. THE HOMELINK STAYS ON EVEN AFTER THE CAR IS TURNED OFF WITH KEY REMOVED CAUSING THIEF TO OPEN YOUR GARAGE DOOR WHEN THEY BREAK INTO THE CAR AND HAVING ACCESS TO HOMES BECAUSE THE HOMELINK STAYS ON CONSTANTLY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR OPENED, BUT WOULD NOT CLOSE ALL THE WAY. IT REMAINED IN THE MIDDLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DOOR MOTOR AND ROLLERS HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR CAME ON FOR NO REASON. TAKEN TO HONDA DEALER, AND THEY SAID THE LIGHT CAME BACK ON AFTER TESTING AND IT WILL COST ME WELL OVER $200. TO REPLACE.ISN'T THIS A SAFETY PROBLEM, AND UNDER A WARRANTY? I NEED TO KNOW FOR SURE THAT THIS DEALER IS TRUSTWORTHY!I WAS IN MY DRIVEWAY WHEN I NOTICED THE LIGHT ON AND IT WOULD NOT GO OFF.
WE HAD SOMETHING PLUGGED INTO THE AC OUTLET IN THE THIRD ROW. CAR WAS RUNNING BUT PARKED IN A LOT. CHILD PULLED CORD AND THE WHOLE COVER OF THE UNIT WAS PULLED OFF. EXPOSED PROTECTED WIRES BUT ALSO A SCREW THAT WAS "LIVE". CHILD RECEIVED FULL BODY ELECTRIC SHOCK TOUCHING THE SCREW. COVER WAS EASILY REPLACED, BUT CHILDREN SIT IN THE THIRD ROW.
ANY TIME BRIGHT SUNSHINE IS PRESENT; IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO READ THE TEMPERATURE &/OR RADIO SETTINGS. THE BLACK LETTERING ON THE LIGHT BLUE BACKGROUND FORCES A DRIVER TO "LEAN DOWN" COMPLETELHY TAKING THEIR EYES OFF THE ROAD IN AN ATTEMPT TO READ THE INFORMATION. AND, EVEN THEN, IT IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO READ THE INFORMATION! IF THE BACKGROUND WAS BLACK & THE LETTERS WERE WHITE (LIKE THE DATE & TIME ON THE GPS SCREEN) THE "PROBLEM" WOULD BE COMPLETELY ELIMINATED. NOTE: THIS PROBLEM IS STILL PRESENT IN THE 2015 MODEL'S. I HAVE TRIED IN VAIN TO CONTACT HONDA ENGINEERING BUT IT IS "IMPOSSIBLE" TO GET THROUGH TO THEM! FURTHERMORE, MY HONDA DEALER SAID: "THERE IS NO WAY TO GET TO THE PROPER PEOPLE AT HONDA." PLEASE HELP!!!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 HONDA ODYSSEY. AFTER PARKING THE VEHICLE AND SHIFTING INTO PARK, THE VEHICLE ROLLED AWAY. THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE PREVIOUS OWNER HAD THE VEHICLE REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V143000 (POWER TRAIN), BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 71,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
AFTER MAKING A RIGHT TURN AFTER A FULL STOP, I ACCELERATED TO ABOUT 5 MPH AND WAS ABOUT TO PARK (LESS THAN 20FT FROM STOP SIGN) WHEN THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED TO A HIGH SPEED. I WAS UNABLE TO BREAK AFTER REPEATEDLY APPLYING PRESSURE ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. I WAS UNABLE TO AVOID A HEAD ON COLLISION. AIRBAGS DEPLOYED INCLUDING THE SIDE BAGS NEXT TO MY 6 YEAR OLD SON. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED 2 MONTHS AGO FROM GROSSINGER HONDA ON WESTERN AVE. IN CHICAGO, A CERTIFIED HONDA DEALER.
WHEN DOING DOWN HILL ON THE FWY ABOUT 65 MILES THE BRAKES START TO SHAKE AND VIBRATE. WHICH IS VERY SCARY. I HAVE READ ONLINE EVERYONE IS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE PROBLEM AND HONDA IS REFUSING TO FIX IT. THEY STATED THE ROUTER NEEDS TO BE RESURFACE BUT THIS IS ONLY 16000 MILES ON THE CAR.. WHICH MAKES NO SENSE.
HAVE HAD FOR A LONG TIME EPISODES OF THE DOORS LOCKING FOR NO REASON BOTH WHILE THE CAR WAS STATIONARY AND WHILE ANY SPEED FROM STREETS TO INTERSTATE. HONDA RE-PROGRAMMED THE LOCKS, BUT DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. SINCE IT ONLY HAPPENED ABOUT ONCE EVERY 2 WEEKS AND THEY COULD NOT FIND ANOTHER PROBLEM, I JUST LET IT GO. THE INCIDENT OF CONCERN HAPPENED IN A PARKING LOT. THE SLIDING DOOR CLOSED ON THE HAND OF AN ELDERLY WOMAN WHO WAS GETTING OUT OF THE FRONT SEAT AND WE WERE UNABLE TO UNLOCK IT AND GET IT OFF HER HAND OR TO SLIDE HER HAND OUT OF THE DOOR. THE DOOR WAS COMPLETELY CLOSED AND FLUSH WITH THE REST OF THE CAR. AFTER ABOUT 12 MINUTES AS 911 WAS ARRIVING, THE DOOR UNLOCKED ITSELF AND THEY WERE ABLE TO OPEN IT. I HAD BEEN USING THE BUTTONS ON THE DRIVER'S DASH, BOTH FRONT DOORS AND THE KEY FOB WITH THE CAR OFF AND TURNED ON AND HAD PULLED ON THE DOOR HANDLE AND HAMMERED ON THE DOOR WITHOUT SUCCESS. WHEN THE DOOR UNLOCKED ITSELF, I HAD ONCE AGAIN TRIED THE DRIVER'S DOOR BUTTON WITH THE CAR RUNNING AND THE RESPONSE WAS DELAYED ENOUGH THAT I HAD GOTTEN OUT OF THE CAR AND WAS ABOUT AT THE DRIVER'S WHEEL WHEN WE HEARD THE UNLOCKING CLUNK. CAN SEND PHOTOS OF THE LOCATION OF HER HAND IF IT WOULD BE HELPFUL. THANKFULLY ONLY ONE FINGER WAS BROKEN. HONDA CHECKED OUT THE CAR AND FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE SENSORS. THEY DID SAY THAT I HAVE A BAD CELL ON MY BATTERY, BUT THE CAR STARTS FINE AND I CAN'T SEE HOW THAT WOULD HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH IT. THE WEIRD LOCKING OF DOORS WAS HAPPENING AT MY LAST CHECK-UP WHERE THE BATTERY TESTED OUT OK.
WHILE MOVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH DOWN A MODERATE GRADE, I APPLIED LIGHT TO MODERATE BRAKING. I IMMEDIATELY FELT A VIBRATION IN THE FRONT END AND SHAKING IN THE STEERING WHEEL. THIS VIBRATION AND SHAKING ONLY OCCURRED WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKES. THE SENSATION WAS SEVERE ENOUGH TO QUESTION STABILITY OF THE VEHICLE SO I EVENTUALLY VISITED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY ADVISED ME THAT THE FRONT ROTORS WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. IT SEEMS PREMATURE FOR THE ROTORS TO NEED REPLACEMENT AFTER ONLY 29,000 MILES, PARTICULARLY CONSIDERING THAT THE ORIGINAL BRAKE PADS THEMSELVES HAVE PLENTY OF LIFE LEFT. MY CONCERN FOR MY FAMILY'S SAFETY COMPELLED ME TO SPEND OVER $200 TO HAVE THE DEALERSHIP REPLACE THE ROTORS (AT THEIR RECOMMENDATION) WITH NEWLY DESIGNED HONDA ROTORS. THE DEALERSHIP WAS GENEROUS IN GIVING ME A DISCOUNT, (ORIGINAL COST WAS TO BE IN EXCESS OF $300) HOWEVER HONDA CORPORATION REFUSED THE COVER THE COST OF THE REPAIRS WHATSOEVER. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS ISSUE AND HAVE LEARNED THAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE EXPERIENCED EXACTLY WHAT I HAVE. HONDA'S REDESIGN OF THE ROTORS AND COMMUNICATIONS WITH THE DEALERSHIP CONFIRMS THAT THERE IS A LEGITIMATE PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES OF THIS VEHICLE. BRAKING AND STEERING CONTROL ARE COMPROMISED WHEN NEEDED MOST- GOING DOWN A HILL AT INTERSTATE SPEED. I BELIEVE THIS TO BE A SERIOUS, ONGOING SAFETY CONCERN FOR THIS VEHICLE AND ACTION SHOULD BE TAKEN. I WANT TO REITERATE THAT THE DEALERSHIP HAS DONE ALL THEY CAN TO FIX THIS PROBLEM, THE INACTION LIES WITH HONDA CORPORATION EXCLUSIVELY. THANK YOU *TR
HAD TO HAVE MY ROTORS SERVICED AROUND 40,000 MILES FOR BEING WARPED. NOW THE VAN IS AT 59,000 MILES AND THEY ARE WARPED AGAIN. I'VE CALLED HONDA CARE AND THEY WON'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT THE ISSUE. READING ONLINE MANY OTHER CUSTOMERS ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. I'VE OWNED OTHER VEHICLES IN THE PAST AND HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE ROTORS. THIS HAS TOO BE A VEHICLE DEFECT TO BE HAVING THIS TYPE OF ISSUE ON A BRAND NEW VEHICLE. THE BRAKE PADS ON THE CARE ARE GOOD.
AFTER 12K MILES MY VEHICLES BRAKES WERE COMPLETELY WARPED DESPITE NO BRAKE ABUSE OR ABNORMAL DRIVING. HIGH SPEED STOPPED IS AFFECTED BY LACK OF STABILITY. REVIEWING NUMEROUS PUBLICATIONS, ONLINE PUBLICATIONS ETC I HAVE FOUND THAT THIS PARTICULAR MODEL CAR HAS EXTREMELY HIGH RATES OF SEVERE BRAKE WARPAGE WITH NORMAL USE. THE MANUFACTURER IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT HAS NOT CHANGED THEIR BRAKE DESIGN OR MATERIAL TO COUNTER ACT THE ISSUE.
ALL 4 CONTINENTAL TIRES, SIZE 235.65.17, SN A3873VM2811, REPLACED AT 31K MILES DUE TO EXCESSIVE DRY ROT.

A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED AWAY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 64,000.

REAR RIGHT SIDE TAIL LIGHT DEVELOPED AN INTERIOR CRACK IN IT AND THERE ARE NO SCRATCHES OR DENTS INDICATING SOMEONE HIT IT. HONDA SAW THE DAMAGE WHEN IT WAS BROUGHT FOR REGULAR SERVICE AND REFUSED TO FIX IT SAYING THAT ITS OUR FAULT THAT THE TAILLIGHT CRACKED. JUDDER AND VIBRATES AND MAKES BUZZING SOUND CONSTANTLY BUT INTERMITTENTLY. DEALER AND HONDA STATE THIS IS IN RELATION TO THE ECO FEATURE. RESEARCH BY ME INDICATES EITHER TORQUE CONVERTER AND/OR REAR MOTOR MOUNT NEEDS REPLACING. IT SEEMS THE ISSUE IS WORSENING AS I WAS TOLD BY MY HONDA SERVICE TECH THAT IT WILL GET WORSE THE MORE MILES DRIVEN. PRESENTLY HAS 40K MILES AND STILL UNDER WARRANTY. CAR LOST POWER ON OPEN HIGHWAY AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT TO HONDA SERVICE...(UNRELATED) TO VIBRATION ISSUE. DID A COMPUTER UPDATE AND THAT TOOK CARE OF POWER ISSUE. *TR
I HAVE OWNED THIS CAR FROM WHEN IT WAS NEW. EVERY 3000 MILES THE BRAKES AND ROTORS HAVE GONE BAD. THEY HAVE BEEN RESURFACED AND REPLACED BY HONDA 2 TIMES. EACH TIME THE ISSUE OF VIBRATION FROM THE FRONT AND REAR BRAKES RECURRED. I HAVE SINCE RAN OUT OF WARRANTY (60K MILES ON THE ODO). AT 50K I REPLACED THE ROTORS AND PADS WITH AFTERMARKET. THOSE TOO HAVE WARPED. THE BRAKES FOR THIS VEHICLE ARE SIMPLY TOO SMALL AND OVERWHELMED OR THERE IS SOMETHING ELSE ENTIRELY WRONG WITH THESE VANS. I SEE ALMOST HALF OF THE COMPLAINTS ARE ABOUT THIS SAME ISSUE, YET HONDA HAS DONE NOTHING TO ADDRESS IT. HONDA QUALITY OF THE PAST SEEMS TO BE GONE AS ALL PRIOR HONDA'S WERE BULLET PROOF. THIS ONE HAS BEEN NOTHING BUT TROUBLE. *TR
I HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEMS THAT EVERYONE HAS SINCE I BOUGHT THIS VAN NEW (MAY 2012). AROUND 41,000 MILES (AUG 2014) HAD WARNING LIGHTS & CODES COME UP. HONDA REPLACED CYLINDERS 1-3 & WORK ORDER ALSO SHOWED SERVICE BULLETIN 13-081, REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. THEN I SMELLED OIL & SAW A SMALL LEAK IN SEPT 2014. HONDA FOUND LEAKING VALVE COVER GASKET, REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. TOOK VAN TO FLORIDA. WHEN WE GOT THERE WE HAD TO TAKE THE VAN TO A HONDA SHOP FOR A LOW TONE KNOCKING NOISE WHILE IDLING AND LOUDER WHEN ACCELERATING. THEY HAD THE VAN FOR 4 DAYS. HONDA PROVIDED A FREE RENTAL. HONDA WROTE ON WORK ORDER. 43307 WORN CAMSHAFT LOBE CAUSING KNOCKING NOISE 36108, PERFORMED INSPECTION FOUND NOISE COMING FROM FRONT CYLINDER HEAD, CALLED TECHLINE, TECHLINE INSTRUCTED TO INSPECT FOR WORN CAM SHAFT, PULLED VALVE COVER FOUND CYLINDER #6 INTAKE LOBE WORN. REMOVED AND REPLACED FRONT CYLINDER HEAD CAMSHAFT & CAMSHAFT SEAL. NOISE GONE. IT ALSO RESPONDS BETTER WHEN PUSHING GAS PEDAL & GAS MILEAGE IMPROVED. I BET I HAVE HAD ABOUT $5000 WORTH OF WARRANTY WORK DONE AT THIS TIME JUST FROM UNDER THE HOOD. DURING ALL THIS, I CONTACTED THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU & HONDA WAS NOTIFIED. I HAVE BEEN COMPLAINING TO CORPORATE HONDA FROM THE BEGINNING ABOUT THIS VAN & THEY ALWAYS WOULD SAY THAT NOTHING IS WRONG. FINALLY I GET A CALL FROM CORPORATE HONDA TO TELL ME THEY FOUND NOTHING FROM MY VISIT INVOLVING REPLACEMENT OF MY CYLINDERS. BOY WAS HE MISINFORMED AND GOT AN EARFULL. I HAVE ALSO HAD MY FRONT ROTORS RESURFACED (35,657 MILES), GOT A GOODWILL WARRANTY. THEY SHOULD GIVE A GOODWILL WARRANTY WITH ALL THE HONDA VEHICLES WE HAVE BOUGHT. EACH VAN I BUY (1995, 2005, 2012) GETS WORSE AND LASTS FOR A SHORTER LENGTH OF TIME BEFORE I FEEL I CAN'T TRUST IT FOR A TRIP OUT OF TOWN. I AM STARTING TO EXPERIENCE LITTLE ISSUES AGAIN LIKE I DID WHEN I FIRST BOUGHT THIS VAN. *TR

I WAS DRIVING ON THE ROAD NOT FAR FROM MY HOME. MY SON WAS SITTING BEHIND ME ON THE CAR SEAT. AND WHEN I WAS STEPPING ON THE BRAKE AND THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED, I HEARD A HUGE BANG BEHIND ME AND THEN SUDDENLY MY SON'S CRYING! I LOOKED BEHIND ME AND SURPRISINGLY FOUND THAT THE SEAT BEHIND ME ON WHICH MY SON AND HIS CAR SEAT WAS SITTING FLIPPED OVER AND HIT MY SEAT IN THE BACK. MY SON'S FACE WAS INJURED AND BLEEDING. AND IT WAS VERY CLOSE TO HIS EYES. I WAS THINKING HOW CAN THAT HAPPEN! I WAS JUST AT A SPEED OF 25 MPH AND THE SEAT CAN FLIP OVER LIKE THAT. IF I WAS DRIVING ON A FREEWAY OR HIGH WAY, WHAT WILL BE THE RESULT? IT'S TOO DANGEROUS! I CANNOT IMAGINE IT. DESPITE THE INJURY ON MY SON'S FACE, I DO THINK MY SON HAS MENTAL INJURY. AFTER THAT HAPPENED, HE WOKE UP AND CRIED SEVERAL TIMES DURING NIGHT. HOWEVER, HE WAS SUCH A GOOD SLEEPER BEFORE. AND HE WAS AFRAID TO TAKE ANY VEHICLE AGAIN. HE BECAME VERY INDEPENDENT SINCE THEN. THEREFORE, I REALLY THINK THERE IS MENTAL INJURY ON MY SON. *TR
TPM(TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR) LIGHT INDICATING LOW PRESSURE WHEN THERE IS NO ERROR. DEALER (SAN MARCO,TEXAS) CLAIMS THE ISSUE IS DUE TO CELL PHONE CHARGER INTERFERENCE WITH TPM SYSTEM. DEALER CLAIMS HONDA IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND SENT OUT A SERVICE BULLETIN TO LIMIT THE CELL PHONE CHARGER TO LESS THAN TWENTY MINUTES TO PREVENT THE TPM FAULT CODE AND DASH LIGHT FROM BEING SET. IN MY PROFESSIONAL OPTION, HONDA AMERICA HAS WHAT IS KNOWN AS A 'CONDUCTIVE ELECTRO-MAGNETIC INTERFERENCE" ISSUE WITH THEIR SYSTEM. BASED ON WHAT HAS BEEN COMMUNICATED, I BELIEVE THERE IS AN ELEMENTARY DESIGN FLAW WITH THEIR SYSTEM THAT ALLOWS EITHER THE TRANSMITTED ENERGY OR INTERNAL GENERATED SIGNALS OF CELL PHONE TO BE COUPLED INTO THEIR SYSTEM USING THE BATTERY LINES. *TR
MY 2012 HONDA ODYSSEY SHAKES VIOLENTLY WHEN YOU BRAKE AT HIGH SPEED INCLUDING THE STEERING WHEEL AS IF YOU WILL LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THIS WAS REPORTED TO THE HAMILTON HONDA DEALER FOR FIRST TIME IN 28 SEP 2013 WHO RE-SURFACED THE FRONT ROTORS UNDER WARRANTY AT 12428 MILES. THE ISSUE WENT AWAY FOR ABOUT 7000 MILES AND REAPPEARED AT 19963 MILES IN JULY 2014. WHEN I REPORTED THIS TO THE SAME DEALER THEY AGAIN RE-SURFACED BOTH FRONT AND BACK ROTORS + BALANCED ALL WHEELS UNDER WARRANTY. HOWEVER THE ISSUE CAME BACK AGAIN IN 2700 MILES CURRENTLY AT 22645 MILES. THE MECHANIC WENT WITH ME FOR THE TEST DRIVE AND I WAS ABLE TO SHOW HIM HOW THE VEHICLE SHAKES WHEN YOU BRAKE IN SPEEDS EXCESS OF 55 MILES. THE DEALER CHECKED AND SAID ALL THE ROTORS ARE WITHIN SPECS AND CANNOT BE FURTHER RE-SURFACED. I NEVER HAD THIS KIND OF ISSUE IN ANY OF MY OTHER VEHICLES I OWNED SO FAR. THIS ISSUE IS SHOWING UP FOR 3RD TIME BUT IT IS MORE SEVERE NOW. WHAT IS MY WAY FORWARD SINCE AMERICAN HONDA IS NOT COMING BACK WITH ANY RESOLUTION EVEN AFTER COMPLAINING TO THEM (IT IS MORE THAN 9 BUSINESS DAYS TODAY). I REPORTED TO AMERICAN HONDA ON 22-OCT-2014 AFTER SERVICING FROM DEALER. *TR
WHILE DRIVING THE STEERING WAS SHAKING. SO TOOK IT TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE ROTORS HAD WARPED AND NEED TO BE RESURFACED. IT APPEARS TO BE TOO SOON SINCE THE BRAKE PADS WERE FINE. SO I DID PAY FOR THE RESURFACING. ANY ONE ELSE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS PLEASE REPORT IT. THE ROTORS SHOULD NOT WARP AT 30000 MILES. *TR
THE FARTHEST REAR DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT TORE IN HALF WHEN PULLED DOWN TO BE USED. WHEN INSPECTED IT WAS NOTED THAT THE PLASTIC NEAR THE CEILING THAT THE BELT ENTERS AND RETRACTS INTO WAS JAGGED AND SHARP. THERE HAS BEEN NO ACCIDENTS IN THIS VEHICLE AND NO KNOWN DAMAGE TO THAT AREA OF PLASTIC. THE AREA THAT IS JAGGED IS ALSO LOCATED IN A POSITION THAT DAMAGE TO THE AREA WOULD BE HARD TO DO FROM AN EXTERNAL FORCE AND APPEARS TO BE MORE LIKELY FROM THE NORMAL USE OF THE SEAT BELT RUBBING OVER THE PLASTIC. THE PLASTIC AREA AROUND THE JAGGED AREA DOESN'T SHOW ANY SIGNS OF WEAR OR DAMAGE EITHER. *TR
I PREVIOUSLY REPORTED THIS FOR THE SAME PROBLEM AND IT RECURRED. APPLICATION OF BRAKES CAUSE SHIMMY WHEN GOING DOWNHILL. TOOK IT TO DEALER AGAIN UNDER WARRANTY AND THEY AGAIN TURNED ROTORS AND EVENED UP THE BRAKE PADS WHICH DID FIX THE PROBLEM. THE DEALER COULD NOT OFFER A NON-SPECULATIVE EXPLANATION WHY THIS HAS TWICE OCCURRED NOW. *TR
FOR SEVERAL MONTHS, HAVE NOTICE A SHAKING OF THE AUTOMOBILE WHEN BRAKING. RECENTLY IT HAS BECOME SEVERE ENOUGH THAT I CONSIDERED IT A SAFETY HAZARD AND TOOK TO DEALER. DEALER SERVICE STATED THAT ROTORS WERE WARPED AND NEED TO RESURFACED. SERVICE REP STATED THAT THIS IS FAIRLY COMMON ON ODYSSEY, BUT CONSIDERED NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. HAVE NEVER SEEN BRAKE ROTORS WARP AT 30K MILES. MAJOR OF MILEAGE ON CAR DUE TO HIGHWAY TRAVEL; NOT STOP AND GO CITY TRAVEL. THIS SEEMS TO BE PREMATURE FOR A BRAKE FAILURE. I AM HAVING THE BRAKE ROTORS RESURFACED (AS RECOMMENDED BY HONDA SERVICE), BUT AM CONCERNED THAT THIS ISSUE WILL RETURN (SINCE THEY WILL BE THE SAME ROTORS). *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE POWER STEERING FAILED INTERMITTENTLY AND THE ENGINE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. I WAS DRIVING MY 2 YEAR OLD HONDA ODYSSEY W/15,000 MILES ON A 35 MPH STATE ROAD IN THE EVENING. ALL OF A SUDDEN THE VAN LOST COMPLETE POWER, EVERYTHING INSIDE WENT BLACK, BRAKES WENT, NO LIGHTS IN OR OUTSIDE WORKING, AND THE STEERING GOT VERY STIFF, MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO STEER THE VAN OFF THE ROAD. MY 5 YOUNG CHILDREN WERE IN THE VEHICLE AS WELL. (AGES 14, 6, 4, 2, & 5 MONTHS). THANKFULLY NO VEHICLES WERE ON THE ROAD IN FRONT OF ME OR STOPPED BC I WOULD HAVE HURT THEM BADLY. I JUST MISSED GETTING REAR ENDED BY 3 OTHER VEHICLES AS WELL. THANKFULLY WE WEREN'T TRAVELING THE BUSY INTERSTATE THAT EVENING, OR THIS COULD HAVE EASILY BEEN FATAL FOR MY WHOLE FAMILY AND POSSIBLY OTHERS AS WELL. PREVIOUS TO THIS (APPROX. 3 MONTHS OR SO) I HAD MADE COMPLAINTS TO THE DEALERSHIP ABOUT A POPPING NOISE IN THE STEERING COLUMN, WHEN A SHARP TURN WAS MADE AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS "NORMAL". I ALSO HAVE A CONSTANT VIBRATION IN THE STEERING WHEEL, BRAKE AND GAS PEDAL, WHICH HONDA BALANCED THE TIRES AND RE SURFACED THE ROADERS. FOR A VEHICLE WHICH ALMOST COST ME $36,000 & 2 YEARS OLD WITH LOW MILES, SHOULDN'T BE HAVING THESE ISSUES. THE ISSUE WITH THE COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER NEEDS TO BE DIAGNOSED AND CORRECTLY FIXED, OR TAKEN OFF THE ROAD BEFORE IT CAUSES SOMEONE TO BE SEVERELY INJURED OR KILLED!!!! FIX IT CORRECTLY OR I WANT THE VEHICLE REPLACED OR MY MONEY BACK TO BUY A SAFER VEHICLE....NOT WE'RE UNSURE OF WHAT THE ISSUE IS OR THINK WE FIXED IT. I DON'T NEED MY FAMILY OR ANY OTHERS KILLED. *TR
I WAS DRIVING THE CAR AND THE POWER TO THE ENGINE STARTED DIMINISHING SUDDENLY WHILE ON THE FREEWAY. QUICKLY I COULD BARELY ACCELERATE. APPARENTLY THE ECO DRIVING MODE HAD SHIFT OFF A FEW CYCLING ERA OF THE ENGINE MAKING THE CAR IMPOSSIBLE TO DRIVE AND ALSO PROHIBITIVELY DANGEROUS.... *TR

MY 6 MONTH PREGNANT WIFE WAS DRIVING OUR VAN FROM WORK TO HOME AND WAS ON A STATE HIGHWAY DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH. THE RIGHT REAR TIRE BURST OUT CATASTROPHICALLY CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO GO OUT OF CONTROL FOR A BRIEF MOMENT BEFORE SHE MANAGED TO PULL OVER TO THE SHOULDER. THE VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 15 K MILES AND IS LESS THAN 2 YEARS OLD. THE TIRES ARE CONTINENTAL MAKE THAT CAME WITH THE NEW CAR. THE VEHICLE (AND THE TIRES) HAS BEEN MAINTAINED AS REQUIRED BY THE CAR MAKER AND THE LAST TIRE ROTATION AND RE BALANCE WAS PERFORMED APPROXIMATELY 1 MONTH PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT. WE STRONGLY BELIEVE THIS IS A MAJOR MANUFACTURING DEFECT WITH THE TIRE AND THIS WAS A SAFETY RELATED EVENT THAT COULD POTENTIALLY HAVE CAUSED A CRASH. WE HAVE FURTHER DETAILS OF TIRE IF NEEDED. *TR
WHEN DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THE STEERING BEGINS TO SHAKE AS SOON AS BRAKES ARE APPLIED (EVEN LIGHTLY). THIS IS MY SECOND HONDA MINIVAN AND I DID NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM WITH MY PREVIOUS ONE. I'VE ONLY HAD THE CAR FOR 2 YEARS. *JS
WE ARE ON OUR WAY TO FT. JACKSON SOUTH CAROLINA TO ATTEND OUR DAUGHTERS BASIC COMBAT TRAINING GRADUATION, WITH 4 ADULTS AND 2 CHILDREN ON BOARD WITH BAGS AT CARGO REAR. WHEN DRIVING AT THE SPEED OF 70MPH AND EVERY TIME I APPLIED THE BRAKES I FELT A PRONOUNCE SHAKING, VIBRATION AND PULSATION OF THE STEERING WHEEL, AND FRONT PART OF THE VEHICLE, AND ALSO MY SEATING INFRONT NOTICE IT AND SHE WAS TERRIFIED OF WHAT GONNA HAPPENED. THIS IS HAPPENING THE ENTIRE ROUND TRIP FROM CLEVELAND OHIO TO SOUTH CAROLINA. IM RISKING THE LIFE OF MY FAMILY. WHEN I TRIED TO REPLICATE IT BY MYSELF THE CAR WILL NOT SHAKE. THE DEALER EXAMINE AND STATED THAT FRONT BRAKE ROTORS ARE SLIGHTLY OUT OF ROUND. AND TO REPLACE IT WILL CHARGED ME 379.95 AS WHAT THEY SAID ITS PAST BEYOND 12,000 MILES. VERY UNRELIABLE PARTS THEY PUT, VERY POOR METAL QUALITY OF BRAKE ROTORS CANT WITHSTAND NORMAL FRICTION. *TR

WE PURCHASED A 2012 HONDA ODYSSEY ON FEBRUARY 18, 2012 FROM SPREEN HONDA. WE RECEIVE 3 FREE OIL CHANGES AND TIRE ROTATIONS. THE FIRST OIL CHANGE DID NOT INCLUDE A TIRE ROTATION, BUT THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT STATED THAT THE BRAKES WERE IN GREAT SHAPE. THE 2ND OIL CHANGE INCLUDED A TIRE ROTATION. THIS WAS APPROX. IN JUNE OF 2012. AFTER THE TIRE ROTATION, WE EXPERIENCED SOME SHAKING AT HIGHER SPEEDS WHEN WE APPLIED THE BRAKES. TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO SPREEN HONDA AND JIM, THE SERVICE MANAGER STATED THE ROTORS WERE WARPED AND IT WAS FROM 'THE HEAT'. HE RESURFACED THEM FOR FREE UNDER THE WARRANTY. IN JUNE OF 2013, WE HAD BOTH FRONT AND REAR BRAKES REPLACED. THE ROTORS WERE RESURFACED AS PART OF THE BRAKE INSTALLATION. WE REPLACED ALL FOUR TIRES IN MARCH OF 2014. THIS WAS THE 2ND SET OF NEW TIRES FOR THIS VAN. AN OIL CHANGE AND TIRE ROTATION WAS DONE BY FIRESTONE ON 5/3/2014. WE EXPERIENCED SHAKING WHEN APPLYING BRAKES, ESPECIALLY DOWN HILL. RETURNED VEHICLE TO FIRESTONE AND TALKED TO THE MANAGER. HE DID A BRAKE INSPECTION AND STATED THE ROTORS WERE WARPED AND THEY DIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH SURFACE ON THEM TO RESURFACE SO THEY WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. LOOKED OVER MY RECORDS FOR THE TOYOTA CAMRY I TRADED IN TO SEE THAT THERE WAS NOT A HISTORY OF MISUSE OF BRAKES AND THE ROTORS WERE REPLACED AFTER FIVE YEARS. CALLED HONDA AND SPOKE TO THEIR RECALL DEPARTMENT WHO TOLD ME THERE WERE NO RECALLS. RECEIVED ANOTHER CALL FROM HONDA WHO TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING HE CAN DO AND NOTED THE ACCOUNT. TOLD HIM THAT I AM LOOKING FURTHER INTO THIS MATTER AND WILL TAKE IT FROM THERE. CALLED THE SERVICE MANAGER AT SPREEN HONDA AND HAVE YET TO RECEIVE A CALL BACK REGARDING THIS MATTER. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR
STEERING WHEEL VIBRATES SEVERELY WHEN BRAKES ARE APPLIED AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE BRAKES WERE HOT DUE TO STEEP DESCENTS WHILE MOUNTAIN DRIVING. STEERING WAS SERIOUSLY IMPAIRED DUE TO EXTREME SHIMMYING EFFECTING THE ENTIRE FRONT END. BRAKING WAS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE. *TR
I LEASE A HONDA ODYSSEY YEAR 2012. I LIVE IN SOUTH FLORIDA, AND DURING THE SUMMER IT RAINS DAILY HERE. ALREADY IN TWO DIFFERENT INSTANCES WHEN DRIVING THROUGH A SHALLOW PUDDLE OF WATER THE CAR'S BATTERY INDICATOR LIGHTED ON AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP- AUTONATION HONDA HOLLYWOOD, 1450 NORTH STATE RD 7, HOLLYWOOD, FL 33021- SERVICE DEPARTMENT AS SOON AS THIS HAPPENED IN THE SUMMER OF 2013. THEY TOLD ME IT WAS PROBABLY BECAUSE THE BELT WAS GETTING WET, AND TO AVOID GOING THROUGH PUDDLES OF WATER, WHICH IS IMPOSSIBLE IN THIS REGION! I SPOKE TO THE SUPERVISOR AND HE TOLD ME THEY RECEIVED MANY REPORTS ABOUT THE PROBLEM, BUT HEADQUARTERS HAD NOT ISSUED ANY RECALL. SO, HE COULDN'T PROVIDE ANY SOLUTION. THE SECOND TIME THIS HAPPENED, I WAS DRIVING WITH MY 6 AND 4 YEAR OLD IN THE CAR, AND I ALMOST HAD A HEAD ON COLLISION WITH ANOTHER CAR BECAUSE I COULD NOT COMPLETE MY TURN. I WAS YESTERDAY AT THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT FOR MY CAR'S SERVICE AGAIN, AND I MENTIONED IT TO THE SUPERVISOR AGAIN. HE SAID HE HEARD THIS SEVERAL TIMES, BUT HE COULD NOT PROVIDE ANY SOLUTION. WITH THE RAIN SEASON APPROACHING, IT IS A MATTER OF TIME FOR ME OR ANOTHER DRIVER TO HAVE AN ACCIDENT. THIS IS A FAMILY CAR, AND MOST OF THE TIMES USED TO TRANSPORT LITTLE CHILDREN. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT A CHILD SOMEHOW WAS ALE TO WRAP THE MIDDLE REAR SEAT BELT AROUND HER NECK. THE CONTACT HAD TO CUT THE SEAT BELT FROM THE CHILD'S NECK BECAUSE IT DID NOT HAVE A TRADITIONAL RELEASE BUTTON. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO STATED THAT THE SEAT BELT WAS FUNCTIONING NORMALLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE AND VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
HEADLIGHTS ARE AIMED TOO LOW, DEALERSHIP IS CHARGING ME $85 DOLLARS TO HAVE IT ADJUSTED AS THEY SAID IT IS NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY, VEHICLE WAS LEASED AS NEW; ADJUSTED IT MYSELF BUT IT IS AT THE HIGHEST SETTING AND STILL TOO LOW, ADDED FACTORY FOG LAMPS BUT DID NOT REALLY HELP WITH FORWARD ILLUMINATION, LIGHTS ARE OVERRUN BY VEHICLE ON HIGHWAYS GOING 65-70 MPH. VEHICLE IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY , BUT I'M WAITING FOR HONDA TO RECALL AND REPLACE THESE POORLY DESIGNED HEADLAMPS. I DO A LOT OF NIGHT DRIVING AS I WORK NIGHTS, I WAS NOT ABLE TO CATCH THIS ON THE TEST DRIVE, AS TEST DRIVES ARE USUALLY DONE IN BROAD DAYLIGHT. *JS
FRONT DISC ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS CAUSE EXTREME SHAKING OF VEHICLE THAT THE DRIVER CAN DETECT THROUGH THE STEERING WHEEL. FIRST DETECTED IN ~EARLY 2013 AT LOW MILES (~20000-25000). TOOK TO DEALER AND THEY INSTRUCTED WE HAD WARPED ROTORS. THEY REFINISHED FOR FREE, BUT I SUSPECTED THAT THE ROTORS MUST BE BAD QUALITY AND ASKED TO REPLACE. THEY DID NOT AND SAID THE REFINISHING SHOULD WORK. IT TEMPORARILY WORKED (NOW AT ~38000 MILES AND STARTED SHAKING AGAIN AT ~30-35K). I HAVE DECIDED TO REPLACE WITH UPGRADED ROTORS AND PADS MYSELF AND NOT WORRY ABOUT LOW QUALITY ROTORS FROM HONDA (VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THIS PROBLEM GIVEN WE LOVED OUR OLDER 2008 MODEL AND THEY DIDN'T FIX PROPERLY, BUT OVERALL VERY HAPPY WITH VEHICLE). NOTICE SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ALL READY POSTED AND KNOW OTHERS THAT HAVE HAD BRAKE ISSUES WITH ODYSSEY THROUGH CHAT BOARDS. DON'T KNOW WHY HONDA IGNORES THE ISSUE WHEN ITS OBVIOUS THE ROTORS ARE POOR QUALITY. *TR
I WAS TURNING RIGHT INTO A PARKING SPACE WITH FOOT ON BRAKE (THERE WAS NO NEED FOR ACCELERATION TO GET INTO THE PARKING SPOT)- WHEN SUDDENLY THE CAR SPED UP REALLY FAST ON ITS OWN (LIKE THE GAS PEDAL WAS BEING APPLIED- ONLY MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE THE ENTIRE TIME). THE CAR WENT CRASHING INTO THE MEDIAN- CATCHING THE UNDERCARRIAGE CAUSING IT TO STOP. I IMMEDIATELY PUT THE CAR INTO PARK. THE FORCE AND SPEED IN WHICH IT REACHED IN SUCH A SHORT DISTANCE WAS STARTLING AND SCARY FOR EVERYONE IN THE CAR. IT WAS AS THOUGH I HAD NO CONTROL OF THE CAR! *TR
VEHICLE SHUDDERED WHILE BRAKING AT 30-70 MPH ESPECIALLY WHEN GOING DOWNHILL, ALSO CAUSING STEERING WHEEL TO SHAKE BACK AND FORTH. TOOK VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TODAY AND THEY FOUND WARPED ROTORS WHICH SEEMS UNUSUAL IN THIS LOW MILEAGE VEHICLE. THE DEALER RESURFACED THE ROTORS AND RE-INSTALLED WITH NEW BRAKE PADS AT NO CHARGE. *TR
AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKES THE CAR HAS EXTREMELY BAD VIBRATION AND THE CAR HAS TROUBLE SLOWING DOWN. I FIRST NOTICED THIS WAS OCCURRING AT ABOUT 22000 MILES. WHEN THE BRAKES GOT WARM AND WHILE GOING HIGHWAY SPEEDS OR DRIVING DOWN HILL THE CAR WOULD VIBRATE SO BAD IT SHAKES THE STEERING WHEEL AND MY ARMS. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THE BREAKS WERE WARPED, BUT THAT IT WAS OK TO DRIVE. I DROVE THE CAR A LITTLE MORE BUT TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER TO LOOK AT AGAIN BECAUSE IT JUST DOESN'T FEEL SAFE. THEY RECOMMENDED NEW BRAKES AND ROTORS, THE BREAKS WERE ONLY HALF WAY WORN. AS WITH THE TIME BEFORE THEY SAID IT WAS MY DRIVING, BUT I DON'T DRIVE BAD, AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR IT. IF THIS WAS NORMAL WEAR I WOULD PAY, BUT I FEEL LIKE THIS IS A DEFECT AND NEEDS TO BE LOOKED INTO FURTHER. HONDA NEEDS TO CORRECT THIS DEFECT. *TR
AT AROUND 5:20PM ON 11/15/13, I WAS ON SANTOMAS EXPWY @ MONROE AND THE TRAFFIC LIGHT HAD JUST TURNED GREEN. VEHICLES HAD STARTED MOVING INCLUDING MINE. SUDDENLY ONE OF THE CARS AHEAD OF ME STOPPED SUDDENLY (NOT SURE WHY). THE CARD IN FRONT OF ME WAS SUCCESSFUL IN STOPPING. BUT, MY CAR (HONDA ODYSSEY TOURING 2012) DID NOT STOP. I APPLIED BRAKES, BUT THE BRAKES WERE NOT SUCCESSFUL IN MAKING THE CAR STOP. I DIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH TIME TO APPLY OTHER BRAKES. I TRIED TO TURN THE VEHICLE TO GET A WIDTH FOR STOPPING, BUT THE BRAKES STILL DID NOT WORK AND MY CAR HIT THE BACK OF THE CAR IN FRONT WHICH THEN CREATED A CHAIN REACTION TO TWO MORE CARS AHEAD. THERE WAS NO PASSENGER IN ANY OF THE CARS AFFECTED AND JUST THE DRIVER. *TR
I HAVE 22K MILES ON MY ODYSSEY. A FEW MONTHS AGO I STARTED FEELING SHAKING UPON BRAKING WITH STEERING WHEELS ALSO SHAKING BADLY. FINALLY TOOK IT TO THE DEALER WHO AFTER A DRIVE TEST SAID "FRONT BRAKE VIBRATION - RECOMMEND BRAKE PADS AND RESURFACE ROTORS". HOWEVER THE HONDA COURTESY INSPECTION REPORT SAYS 8MM LEFT IN BRAKE PADS WHICH IS MORE THAN 60% LIFE. I STRONGLY FEEL THIS IS TOO SOON FOR ROTORS OR BRAKE PAD REPLACEMENT AND SOMETHING OUGHT TO BE A MANUFACTURING DEFECT HERE WHICH SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE DRIVING 78 MPH, THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE STALLED AND ALL OF THE WARNING LAMPS ILLUMINATED, THEN POWERED OFF. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE SAFELY OFF OF THE HIGHWAY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE DEALER DID NOT SPECIFY WHAT COMPONENT FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE INCIDENT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 14,050.
THIS IS THE SECOND HONDA ODYSSEY. THE FIRST WAS A 2005 THAT I OWNED FOR 7 YEARS AND DID NOT NEED THE ROTORS RESURFACED UNTIL THE VAN HAD 70000 MILES ON IT. I NOW OWN A 2012 AND WITH ONLY 20000 MILES ON IT THEY NEED TO BE RESURFACED. HONDA IS NOT COVERING STATING THAT IT IS DRIVING HABITS, HOWEVER I DRIVE THE SAME AS I DID WITH MY 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHEN I GOOGLE A 2012 HONDA ODYSSEY THERE ARE SEVERAL OTHER INDIVIDUALS THAT ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE WITH THEIR 2012 ODYSSEY HAVING TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE BRAKING SYSTEM. IF THE BRAKING SYSTEM IS FAILING THAT IT IS OPENING HONDA UP FOR LAWSUITS, ESPECIALLY WHEN ENOUGH PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. HONDA USED TO BE A VERY DIFFERENT COMPANY. *TR
OUR 2012 HONDA ODYSSEY TOURING ELITE VAN, PURCHASED BRAND NEW IN JUNE, 2012, EXPERIENCED A SUDDEN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION (SUA) EVENT ON JULY 27, 2013 AT APPROXIMATELY 3:53PM CST. I WAS MAKING A RIGHT TURN INTO A PARKING SPACE WITH THE BRAKES DEPRESSED. PART WAY INTO THE PARKING SPACE, MY VEHICLE'S ENGINE REVVED UP VERY LOUD AND SURGED FORWARD. I CONTINUED TO PRESS THE BRAKE AS THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO MOVE FORWARD RAPIDLY AND DID NOT STOP UNTIL IT HIT A STORE FRONT WINDOW/WALL. THE STEERING ALSO BECAME UNRESPONSIVE. THE ENGINE STOPPED REVVING AND I SHUT OFF THE ENGINE WITH THE KEY. NO AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. MY SON WAS IN A MIDDLE ROW SEAT. VIDEO SECURITY SURVEILLANCE SHOWS THE BRAKE LIGHTS WERE ON DURING THE ENTIRE EVENT AND DETAILS THE UNRESPONSIVE STEERING. WE CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP BY PHONE IMMEDIATELY WITH A FOLLOW UP LETTER AND WE CONTACTED HONDA AMERICA CORPORATE OFFICE BY CERTIFIED LETTER AND SENT A FAX INFORMING THEM OF THE EVENT, AS WELL AS REQUESTING EDR DATA BE RETRIEVED. IT IS NOW SEVEN WEEKS LATER AND HONDA HAS FAILED TO COLLECT OR REFUSES TO PROVIDE THE DATA. THE DEALERSHIP STATED A DISTRICT REP/MANAGER INSPECTED OUR VEHICLE AND PROVIDED ONLY AN ONE PAGE DEALER INVOICE STATING 'NO DEFECTS IN MATERIAL OR FACTORY WORKMANSHIP WERE FOUND.' THIS 'INSPECTION' TOOK 0.79 HOURS PER THE DEALER INVOICE. HONDA REFUSES TO PROVIDE DETAILS OF WHAT WAS INSPECTED OR CHECKED AND THE DEALERSHIP SAYS THEY ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR PROVIDING THOSE DETAILS EVEN THOUGH INSPECTION TOOK PLACE AT THEIR FACILITY. THE DEALERSHIP STATES THAT THE DEALER INVOICE IS SUFFICIENT FOR US TO CONSIDER THE VEHICLE SAFE TO PUT ON THE ROAD AGAIN. UNDERSTANDABLY, WE DO NOT AGREE AS ROOT CAUSE OF THE SUA EVENT REMAINS UNIDENTIFIED. THE VEHICLE CURRENTLY SITS AT THE BODY SHOP. VEHICLE HAD APPROXIMATELY 12,800 MI AT EVENT.
AT APPROXIMATELY 7:30 PM ON THURSDAY, 09/12/2013, I WAS DRIVING WITH MY FAMILY ON ROUTE 288 IN CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VIRGINIA, AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH. MY WIFE AND I HEARD GLASS BREAKING BUT WE WERE UNSURE OF THE SOURCE. WE HEARD IT AGAIN AND MY WIFE (PASSENGER SEAT) OPENED THE SUNROOF COVER AND OBSERVED SHATTERED GLASS. WHEN WE GOT HOME APPROXIMATELY 10 MINUTES LATER WE TOOK A PHOTO. WE DID NOT OBSERVE A ROCK OR FOREIGN OBJECT IN THE SHATTERED GLASS. THIS DAY WAS A HOT DAY AND AS THE SUN WAS GOING DOWN A COLD FRONT WITH THUNDERSTORMS DROPPED THE TEMPERATURE (BUT WAS NOT RAINING AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT). *TR
*TR
ONGOING ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. POSSIBLE SHORT IN THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. MULTIPLE ONGOING PROBLEMS FROM: (1) WIFE HAS NEW PACEMAKER, SHE RECEIVED A SHOCK WHILE RESTING HER FEET/LEGS ON THE DASHBOARD (AUG. 2013), (2) DASHBOARD LIGHT(S) KEEP CHANGING IN BRIGHTNESS: WE HAVE TAKEN IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES, THE STAFF PLAYS DUMB, LOOKS AT US LIKE WE ARE DUMB, (3) DOCUMENTED WINDOW MALFUNCTION IN AUGUST 2012, DUE TO ELECTRICAL, (4) ELECTRICAL GADGETS SEEM TO WORK WHEN THEY WANT TO, (5) YESTERDAY (8/21/2013) HAD THE IPAD PLUGGED IN TO THE GLOVE BOX POWER, BUT THE IPAD INDICATED THAT IT WAS NOT CHARGING. CONCERN: HEALTH AND SAFETY. *TR
WIFE CAME HOME PARKED IN GARAGE 1.5 - 2.5 HOURS LATER OPENED GARAGE DOOR, GARAGE FILLED WITH SMOKE, FOUND HONDA ODYSSEY HAD SELF IGNITED AND SELF EXTINGUISHED ITSELF DUE TO LACK OF OXYGEN. INCIDENT AREA AT REAR CARGO LIGHT POSSIBLY EITHER REAR CARGO LIGHT OR REAR HATCH DOOR ONLY ELECTRICAL ITEMS IN THAT AREA THAT I AM AWARE OF - JUST A GUESS - FIRE DEPARTMENT CALLED TO SCENE TO WITNESS NOTE AND PROVIDE A REPORT. HAD A WINDOW BEEN CRACKED MOST LIKELY MY HOUSE WOULD HAVE BURNED DOWN. THIS WAS A VERY SCARY INCIDENT THAT DESERVES THE HIGHEST LEVEL OF FOLLOW UP. I WORK IN THE RISK MANAGEMENT / LOSS CONTROL AREA PROFESSIONALLY AND THIS HAS CERTAINLY SCARED ME. ANYTHING I CAN DO TO HELP I AM WILLING TO DO SO. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE WOULD SHAKE WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD REACH HIGHWAY SPEEDS OR WHEN DEPRESSING THE BRAKES. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE ROTORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE ROTORS WERE REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE STILL HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS OCCURRING BECAUSE OF THE WAY THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND IT WAS NOT A FAULT OF THE VEHICLE ITSELF. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 11,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 20,000. *TR
THE SRS MODULE NEED TO BE REPLACED DEALER TOLD THAT IF NOT REPLACED ISSUE MAY OCCUR LIKE THE AIR BAG FIRING WITH OUT NOTICE OR NOT AT ALL WITHIN AND ACCIDENT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, SHE APPLIED THE BRAKES AND FELT A VIBRATION IN HER FOOT. THE VEHICLE DID NOT DECELERATE PROPERLY AND THERE WAS AN INCREASE IN STOPPING TIME. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FRONT ROTORS WOULD NEED TO BE RESURFACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 24,855.
THE MINI VAN STARTED TO VIBRATE (THE STEERING WHEEL) WHEN I WAS BRAKING AT FREEWAY SPEEDS (65 MPH) AND DOWN HILL. I TOOK IT TO A DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE FRONT ROTORS WAS BAD. THE DEALER RECOMMEND THAT A BRAKE JOB WAS NEEDED. THE BRAKE PADS, ROTORS, AND ANY BRAKING MATTERS SHOULD NOT BE AN ISSUE UNTIL 50,000 MILES. I ASKED WHY THE ROTORS WENT BAD SO QUICKLY AND THE BOTH SPEAKING WITH THE DEALER AND THE CAR COMPANY, I WAS INFORMED THAT THE CAR IS "HEAVY". I NEVER TOWED ANYTHING OR HAD NO MORE THAN 6 AVERAGE PASSENGER IN MY CAR. IF THAT WAS THE CASE THE HONDA DID NOT ADEQUATELY PUT IN THE RIGHT SIZE ROTORS. FURTHER MORE, AS AN ENGINEER, I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT A NEW BRAKE JOB WILL DO TO CORRECT THE ROTORS FROM BEING WARPED IF HONDA INSTALLED AN UNDER RATED ROTOR SIZE OR THICKNESS. NOT SURE IF THERE'S GOING TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
BRAKES VIBRATE AFTER A FEW STOPS OR WHEN THE WEATHER IS VERY HOT. MORE NOTICEABLE ON NORMAL FREEWAY DRIVING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND THERE WAS A DELAYED RESPONSE OF A FEW SECONDS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THREE DIFFERENT DEALERS NUMEROUS TIMES. THE REPAIRS PERFORMED CONSISTED OF REPROGRAMMING THE COMPUTER SOFTWARE AND REPLACING THE TRANSMISSION FLUID. THE PROBLEM PERSISTED. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO REMEDY THE DEFECT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND THEY PLANNED TO INVESTIGATE FURTHER. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,159. UPDATED 06/18/13*LJ THE CONSUMER STATED THE DEALER OFFERED TO SWAP THE VEHICLE FOR ANOTHER FOR AN EXTRA $2,500. UPDATED 06/20/2013 *JS
2012 HONDA ODYSSEY. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO ACCELERATION PROBLEMS. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED WHEN SHE SLOWED DOWN OR LET OFF THE GAS PEDAL, THE ENGINE ACTED AS THOUGH IT WAS GOING TO SHUT OFF, THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN IT WOULD LURCH FORWARD. IT ALSO HAPPENED WHEN LETTING OFF THE GAS TO TURN A CORNER, AND WHEN SHE ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE, IT FELT AS THOUGH THE VEHICLE WAS GOING TO STALL.
THE VEHICLE SHAKES VIOLENTLY DURING HIGHWAY SPEED BRAKING WHEN GOING DOWNHILL. TOOK IT TO DEALER, AND THEY WERE ABLE TO VERIFY THE PROBLEM, BUT CLAIMED THAT THIS IS WEAR AND TEAR. THE BRAKES HAVE 8MM ON BOTH FRONT BRAKES. *TR
I WAS STANDING ON MY FRONT PORCH, VEHICLE PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY, AND MY REAR HATCH WINDOW SHATTERED. THE WEATHER WAS DECENT, MID 60'S. SO IT WASN'T EXTREMELY COLD OR EXTREMELY HOT. I LIVE ON THE END OF A CUL-DE-SAC. NOTHING WAS AROUND IT, NOONE WAS AROUND, NOTHING HIT IT. IT JUST SHATTERED, BLEW GLASS BOTH INSIDE THE VAN AND OUTSIDE THE VAN. THANKFULLY NOONE WAS STANDING BEHIND IT WHEN IT HAPPENED. *TR
THE SAME PROBLEM THAT OCCURRED IN DEC 2012 WHEN HONDA ISSUED A TRANSMISSION SOFTWARE UPDATE, BUT ONLY WORSE. I WAS DRIVING AT APPROX 18MPH AND THE TRANSMISSION LOCKED THEN SLIPPED CONTINUOUSLY. IT WAS WORSE WHEN I WAS ON A HILL CAUSING THE VAN TO JERK BACKWARDS. IT CONTINUED TO OCCUR AND WHEN ON A FLAT ROAD I ALMOST LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE BECAUSE IT JERK SO HARD WHEN ACCELERATING TO 20MPH. I ENDED UP HAVING THE VAN TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO CAN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM, HONDA SAID THEY ARE UNAWARE OF THE ISSUE. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AND IT ONLY HAS 5000 MILES ON IT. THIS IS MY 4TH HONDA MINIVAN IN 10 YEARS AND THIS IS NOT TYPICAL HANDLING FOR THE VEHICLE AND THE DEALERSHIP IS TRYING TO GET ME TO BELIEVE... [PLEASE TRY TO HELP SO NO ONE GETS INJURED IN THIS VEHICLE.... THANKS, *TR
MY CAR STARTED TO VIBRATE A LITTLE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AND DOWN HILL AROUND 18,000 MILES. I DROVE IT AND FINALLY AT 22,000 MILES I TOOK IT TO A HONDA DEALER TO CHECK IT OUT. THE SERVICE ADVISOR TOLD ME THAT THE ROTORS WERE WARPED AND THAT I NEEDED A BRAKE JOB. I FEEL THAT THE ROTORS ARE EITHER NOT THE PROPER SIZE OR THICKNESS FOR THE CAR. I'VE CHECKED ON LINE AND MANY SAME CAR OWNERS ARE SEEING THE SAME PROBLEMS. I FEEL THAT THE WARRANTY THE SHOULD HONOR REPLACEMENT OR REPAIR IF THE ROTORS ARE WARPING SO QUICKLY. *TR
WHEN TRAVELING AT A LOW SPEED AND TRY TO ACCELERATE, THE VEHICLE DOES NOT RESPOND FOR 3 TO 5 SECONDS. VERY DANGEROUS WHEN TRYING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN OR GETTING ONTO HIGHWAY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A THREE SECOND DELAY BEFORE THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE 2012 MODEL IS A SIX-GEAR VEHICLE AND THERE IS A DELAY BEFORE ACCELERATING SO THE VEHICLE WAS OPERATING AS DESIGNED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 13 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 8,400. THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THE VEHICLE HAS A 5 SPEED TRANSMISSION WITH GRADE LOGIC CONTROL AND THE NEW MODELS HAVE A SIX SPEED TRANSMISSION WHICH CORRECTED THE HESITATION ON ACCELERATION.
WIND NOISE ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD IS SIGNIFICANT AND ALSO AIR LEAK ON DRIVER SIDE WINDOW; DEALER PUT IN NEW DOOR SEAL, BUT THIS DID NOT HELP. THEY SAID THEY KNOW OF THE COMPLAINTS AND HAD NO FIX FOR IT. IN DEC OF 2012, ONE YEAR AFTER I FIRST STARTED TO COMPLAIN, THEN CONTACTED CORPORATE HONDA DIRECTLY, THE DEALER WAS ABLE TO FIX MY AIR LEAK AT MY EAR. NOW I CAN HEAR ALL THE AIR NOISE AROUND THE WINDSHIELD AND SUN ROOF. THEY SAY THERE NO FIX FOR THIS. AT SPEEDS OF 40 MPH AND ABOVE IT IS AGGRAVATING. WE HAVE CONSISTENTLY COMPLAINED TO THE DEALER ABOUT THIS AT EVERY VISIT. THIS IS NOT A CAR TO BUY FOR ANYTHING BUT TO GET YOUR KIDS AROUND TOWN. *TR
I BOUGHT A BRAND NEW '12 ODYSSEY EXL-NAV (5-SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION) AND FROM THE DAY I PICKED IT UP, I NOTICED A SHUDDERING WHEN THE TRANSMISSION WAS AT A SHIFT POINT, ESPECIALLY FROM 2ND TO 3RD AND 3RD TO 4TH. I AM SUBMITTING THIS COMPLAINT BECAUSE I SEE A REGISTERED COMPLIANT FOR ODYSSEY TOURING AND TOURING ELITE MODELS WITH 6-SPEED TRANSMISSIONS BUT NOT FOR THE EX OR EXLS WITH 5-SPEED TRANSMISSION [NHTSA REFERENCE #10046880;TSB REFERENCE #SB-12-064]; HOWEVER I HAVE THE SAME TRANSMISSION ISSUE. IT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP AT A HONDA DEALER TWICE NOW TO RESOLVE ISSUE AND LAST TIME THEY MENTIONED THERE HAD BEEN A SERVICE BULLETIN ISSUED FOR THIS ISSUE AND THEY UPLOADED A NEW SOFTWARE CONTROL MODULE. HOWEVER, I STILL HAVE THE ISSUE AND AM CONCERNED THAT THIS IS A DESIGN-FLAW ISSUE THAT HONDA MAY NOT BE ABLE TO FIX. PLEASE EXPAND THE NHTSA ISSUE TO INCLUDE THE 5-SPEED TRANSMISSIONS AS WELL AND ADVISE IF THERE IS ANYTHING I CAN DO. ALSO, WITH THE BRAND NEW VEHICLE, THE REAR BRAKE ROTORS WERE WARPED AND PULSED WHEN BREAKING AND HAD TO BE RESURFACED WITHIN A MONTH OF DELIVERY. THAT ISSUE IS NOW RESOLVED. *TR
THE SPEEDOMETER AND OTHER INSTRUMENTS ON THE DASH BOARD ARE VERY EASY TO SEE AT NIGHT. HOWEVER, IN DAYLIGHT IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO SEE THE SPEEDOMETER AND THE OTHER INSTRUMENTS, PARTICULARLY IF WEARING POLAROID SUNGLASSES. THE NUMBERS ON THE SPEEDOMETER ARE GREY ON GREY. THAT AND THE LED LIGHTING MAKES IT VERY DIFFICULT TO SEE HOW FAST THE VEHICLE IS GOING. IT IS A SAFETY PROBLEM BECAUSE MOTORISTS HAVE TO SPEND A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF EXTRA TIME LOOKING AT THE SPEEDOMETER IN ORDER TO SEE HOW FAST THE VEHICLE IS GOING. WHILE THE MOTORISTS ARE LOOKING AT THE SPEEDOMETER, THEY CAN'T SEE THE ROAD AND THEY CAN'T SEE POTENTIAL TRAFFIC CONFLICTS. EARLIER MODELS OF HONDA ODYSSEY DID NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM. HONDA KNOWS HOW TO MAKE THE DASHBOARD INSTRUMENTS CLEARLY VISIBLE IN DAYLIGHT. NO NEW TECHNOLOGY HAS TO BE DEVELOPED TO MITIGATE THIS SAFETY PROBLEM. *TR
WHEN PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR, THE VEHICLE HESITATES, THEN SURGES FORWARD AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED. THIS HAPPENS QUITE OFTEN WITH NO PATTERN OR INDICATION. I QUESTIONED THE DEALER AND THEY SAID IT WAS DUE TO THE WIRELESS METHOD USED TO TRANSMIT THE SIGNAL FROM THE ACCELERATOR TO THE INJECTION SYSTEM. THEY SAID I WOULD HAVE TO LEARN TO LIVE WITH IT. *TR
A/C STOPPED BLOWING COLD AIR ALL OF A SUDDEN. TOOK CAR TO DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. DEALER STATED ROCK PUNCTURED THE CONDENSER, AND IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. WE BELIEVE, AND THOUSANDS OF OTHERS, THAT THIS IS A MANUFACTURERS DEFECT AND FLAW IN DESIGN THAT DOES NOT ADEQUATELY PROTECT THIS COMPONENT, HENCE AMERICAN HONDA IS MAKING A TON OF MONEY OFF ITS CUSTOMERS FOR REPAIRS. CONTACTING AMERICAN HONDA FOR RESOLUTION IS USELESS, AS THEY ARE STANDING BEHIND A ROUTINE EXPLANATION OF THAT THEY ARE NOT LIABLE FOR THIS TYPE OF FAILURE, IN THEIR DESIGN. WE NEED HELP! *TR
WE BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE WITH MY AUNT[XXX] FOR OUR FAMILY, WE WERE BREAKING IT IN AROUND 400 PLUS MILES AND WE NOTICE THERE IS A VIBRATION WHEN THE VCM OR VARIABLE CYLINDER MANAGEMENT TURNS ON. SO WE TOOK IT A THE DEALERSHIP WE BOUGHT IT FROM WHICH IS NORM REEVES HONDA IN WEST COVINA CA. HUMMING VIBRATION NOISE WHEN THE VCM TURNS ON AT ANY SPEED. TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN, SEPT 27 2012 ME AND MY AUNT JUST BOUGHT A BOUGHT BRAND NEW 2012 HONDA ODYSSEY EX SEPT 21,2012 WITH ONLY 33 MILES ON IT, WE NOTICE A VIBRATION IN THE ENGINE SO I TOOK IT TO NORM REEVES HONDA 1 888 637 7262 ON SEPT 27, 2012 WITH 622 MILES ON IT AND SPOKE TO [XXX] SERVICE ADVISOR I TOLD THEM THAT THERE IS A VIBRATIONS IN THE ENGINE, WIND NOISE, ALIGNMENT PROBLEM AND THE REAR SLIDING DOOR NOT BEING PUSHED. HE SEND A GUY TO MEET ME WHICH HE'S NAME IS[XXX] A SERVICE DIAGNOSTICS WHO COME WITH ME FOR A TEST DRIVE, SO WE WENT AND HE NOTICES THE VIBRATION, WIND NOISE AND THE SLIDING REAR DOOR NOT BEING PLUSH AND THE ALIGNMENT. [XXX] TOLD ME THAT THEY WILL HOOK UP THE COMPUTER SYSTEM OF HONDA TO SEE THE PROBLEM WITH THE VIBRATIONS WE HEAD BACK TO THE DEALER AND HE TOLD THE SERVICE ADVISOR ABOUT IT. SO I LEFT ODYSSEY WITH THEM THE WHOLE DAY, I GOT A CALL FROM [XXX] AROUND 4:30 ISH AND TOLD ME THEY FIXED THE REAR DOOR STRIKER, THE REAR SLIDING DOOR THE FIXED ALSO, ALIGNMENT IS NOW STRAIGHT AND THE TOP PART OF THE DOOR IS PLUSHED BUT THE LOWER DOOR IS NOT PLUSHED ANY MORE, THEY FIXED THE ALIGNMENT, THEY SAID THE WIND NOISE IS NORMAL, REGARDING THE VIBRATION, THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY DROVE THE NEW ONE AND THEY DRIVE THE SAME. THEY IS A BIG PROBLEM HERE AND THEY JUST NOT SAYING. PLS HELP US OUT INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR
I JUST BOUGHT A 2012 HONDA ODYSSEY. AT NIGHT YOU CAN NOT SEE VERY WELL WITH THE HEADLIGHTS. IT LEAVES BAD VISUALIZATION OF THE ROAD. IT IS LIKE A BLACK CURTAIN OVER YOUR WINDSHIELD IN DARK COUNTRY ROADS. I ALMOST WENT INTO A RAVINE. THANK GOODNESS I WAS GOING SLOW. I DO NOT TAKE THIS ROUTE MUCH. BUT WHEN GOING INTO VERY DARK AREAS. IT IS A COMPLETE BLACK OUT. I TOOK IT BACK TO MY DEALER IN MENTOR, OHIO. AT CLASSIC AND THE SERVICE MAN WAS VERY RUDE. AND LOOKED AT ME LIKE I WAS OUT OF MY MIND. I AM A NIGHT NURSE. DRIVE MY KIDS AROUND FOR FUNCTIONS. THIS REALLY SCARES ME. I SEE THERE ARE SEVERAL OTHER COMPLAINTS. THIS IS SUPPOSE TO BE A FAMILY VEHICLE. A SAFE VEHICLE. I SEE NOW WHY THEY NEED A GOOD CRASH RATING. IT COULD HAPPEN CAUSE OF THESE HEADLIGHTS. PLEASE HELP! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A REAR-END COLLISION AND THE SEAT BELT FAILED TO RETRACT. AS A RESULT, THE DRIVER IMPACTED HER HEAD ON THE STEERING WHEEL. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED AND THE DRIVER SUSTAINED BRUISES AND A MINOR CONTUSION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO INSPECTED THE SEAT BELT AND DETERMINED THAT THEY WERE OPERATING AS DESIGNED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 2,400.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 HONDA ODYSSEY EXL. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 40 MPH WHEN THE INSTRUMENTAL PANEL WAS NOT SUFFICIENTLY ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE CONTACT HIT A DEER THAT WAS POSITIONED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG FAILED TO DEPLOY UPON IMPACT. DURING THE CRASH, THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SEAT BELT DID NOT RETRACT PROPERLY TO SECURE THE OCCUPANT. THERE WAS NO PERSONAL INJURY. THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED SEVERE DAMAGES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A COLLISION CENTER AND REPAIRED. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE AIR BAG FAILURE WAS CONTRIBUTED TO THE WIRE CONNECTORS DISCONNECTING FROM THE AIR BAG SENSOR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 7,758..UPDATED 04/19/12 *BF UPDATED 06/04/12
PULLING ONTO FREEWAY AND DASH LIGHTS FLASHED THEN MOTOR QUIT COMPLETELY. COASTED TO STOP ON SHOULDER WITH VERY LITTLE BRAKE POWER LEFT. VEHICLE WOULD NOT EVEN TURN ON - COMPLETE VEHICLE FAILURE. HAD IT TOWED ONCE AGAIN TO DEALER SAID A FAULTY OR SHORTED GROUND WIRE. HAVE NOT PICKED UP YET SO WILL DETERMINE IF FIXED. THIS IS THE SECOND MAJOR FAILURE WITH THIS VEHICLE. HONDA DEALER NOR CORPORATE CUSTOMER SERVICE SHOWS ANY CONCERN OR INTEREST IN OUR SITUATION. MY WIFE IS VERY AFRAID TO DRIVE OR DEPEND ON THIS CAR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE TRAVELING 5- 10 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED AN ABNORMAL SOUND COMING FROM THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE STRUTS WERE REPLACED BUT THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE CURRENT AND THE FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 150.
THE VEHICLE HESITATES AND OCCASIONALLY SURGES ON ACCELERATION. *TR
HESITATION OR STUTTER WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE. STARTED WITH MINIMAL PROBLEMS AT FIRST AND HAS BECOME PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. NOW HEAR CLICKING JERKING AND WILL NOT ACCELERATE AND EMISSION LIGHT GOES OFF AND ON. DEALER SAYS NOTHING WRONG THEY CAN FIND. *TR
OUR BRAND NEW 2012 HONDA ODYSSEY TOURING ELITE JUDDERS BETWEEN 25-40 MPH BETWEEN SHIFTS. THE JUDDER CAN BE ANYWHERE FROM MILD AND VERY TRANSIENT TO ROUGH BUCKING THAT LASTS FOR OVER 2 SECONDS BEFORE IT SMOOTHS OUT. UNDER MILD OR HEAVY ACCELERATION, I HAVE NOT NOT NOTICED THE JUDDER. IT SEEMS TO ONLY HAPPEN UNDER MODERATE ACCELERATION. IT ALSO SEEMS TO OCCUR MORE VIOLENTLY WHILE GOING UPHILL. IT HAPPENS AT LEAST 90% OF THE TIME DURING THE SHIFT BETWEEN 2ND AND 3RD GEARS UNDER MODERATE (TYPICAL) ACCELERATION. THIS JUDDER RESULTS IN A LOSS OF EXPECTED ACCELERATION AND DECREASED CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. WHILE RESEARCHING THIS PROBLEM, IT BECAME OBVIOUS THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY PERSON EXPERIENCING THIS ISSUE AND FEEL THAT HONDA MUST RECALL THESE VEHICLES TO PERMANENTLY REPAIR THE UNDERLYING ISSUE. THIS ISSUE AFFECTS MORE THAN JUST THE 2012 MODEL YEAR. *TT
2012 HONDA ODYSSEY HAS A SHUTTERING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. THIS SEEMS MOST PREVALENT AROUND 40+ MILES PER HOUR, HOWEVER, IT CAN HAPPEN AT VARYING SPEEDS. I HAVE SET AN APPOINTMENT WITH HONDA DEALER (LEHIGH VALLEY HONDA FOR TUESDAY, JANUARY 31. I WAS INFORMED BY THE SERVICE CONSULTANT THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE, BUT THAT THERE IS NO FIX FOR THIS AT THIS TIME. I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH HONDA MOTOR CORPORATION REGARDING THIS ISSUE. THIS VAN IS APPROXIMATELY TWO WEEKS OLD AND EXPERIENCING THIS SHUTTERING PROBLEM. YOU CAN FEEL THE VIBRATIONS IN THE STEERING WHEEL AND IN THE DRIVERS SEAT. ADDITIONALLY, YOU CAN HEAR IT AS LONG AS YOU ARE IN A QUIET ENVIRONMENT. PLEASE INVESTIGATE AS OTHER CONSUMERS SEEM TO BE EXPERIENCING THIS SAME ISSUE REGARDING MODEL YEARS 2011 & 2012. THANK YOU. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WOULD EMIT A SHUTTERING SOUND WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PERFORMING TO SPECIFICATIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 500.
BRAND NEW VEHICLE, NEW MODEL YEAR, COULD BE ONE OF FIRST. HEADLIGHTS ARE AS BRIGHT AS THE SUN. ANY BUMP OR INCLINE PUTS HEADLIGHTS INTO ONCOMING DRIVER EYES. MAJORITY FLASH ME THAT MY HIGH BEAMS ARE ON. THEY ARE NOT. HONDA SAYS ALL PERFECT. I CANNOT LOOK INTO LIGHT - IT IS SUN-LIKE. MY HEADLIGHTS COME UP INTO ONCOMING EYES CONSTANTLY - HONDA SAYS AIMED PERFECTLY. I ASSERT THAT THIS IS SIMPLY HIGHLY DANGEROUS; HONDA WILL DO NOTHING FOR ME. ALL IS PERFECT, THEY SAY. EVEN IF I DON'T CAUSE SOMEONE ELSE'S ACCIDENT, THE QUANTITY OF PEOPLE FLASHING ME APPEARS TO BE EVIDENCE OF SPREADING ANGER, BECAUSE I CAN DO NOTHING. MY SUN-LIKE LIGHTS 'FLASH' THEM AGAIN AND AGAIN. PITY THE POOR DRIVER IN FRONT OF ME, IN MY LANE. MY BULBS ARE HALOGEN, NOT THE 'HIGH INTENSITY DISCHARGE' TYPE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THE HEADLIGHTS DO NOT PROJECT FAR ENOUGH FOR HIM TO SEE WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO ADJUSTED THE HEADLIGHTS BUT THE CONTACT STATED IT DID NOT MAKE A DIFFERENCE. THE DEALER ALSO INFORMED HIM THAT WAS CAUSED BY THE DESIGN OF THE VEHICLE AND OFFERED NO OTHER ASSISTANCE. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THEY WOULD GIVE HIM A RETURN CALL WITHIN THE NEXT TWO DAYS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 380.
