The contact owns a 2012 Land Rover Range Rover Sport. The contact stated that while driving at 30 MPH, the vehicle inadvertently stalled at a stop light. Several unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact was not able to veer to the side of the road. The contact was able to restart the vehicle after 30 seconds however, the vehicle stalled several times that same day while she was driving to her residence. The vehicle was taken to the used cars dealer where it was purchased for diagnostic testing. The used car dealer diagnosed that the fuel system had failed. The contact stated that the failure had been reoccurring while driving and she had stopped driving the vehicle. The contact received a recall notification for NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V635000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) however, the part for the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact that they would assist with towing the vehicle to the dealer for recall repair once the parts were available. The contact contacted the manufacturer a second time and was informed that she would be responsible for the towing expenses. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.

THE FRONT AIR SUSPENSION WENT OUT WHILE I WAS DRIVING IT. I'VE HAD IT REPAIRED 2 TIMES AND IT CONTINUES TO FAIL WITHIN A DAY FROM REPAIR. UNABLE TO DROVE THE VEHICLE.
MY CAR AT APPROX 58000 MILES HAD A KNOCKING SOUND IN THE ENGINE. LAND ROVER CENTERVILLE DIAGNOSED IT AS NEEDING A NEW TENSIONER, TIMING CHAIN AND SUPERCHARGER ISOLATOR. THE REPAIR WAS $6200. 2 YEARS LATER AT 84000 MILES THE VEHICLE IDLED ROUGHLY AND THREW A CODE"PERFORMANCE RESTRICTED" ALONG WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. I DROVE IT SLOWLY TO THE NEAREST AUTO REPAIR SHOP (5 BLOCKS) WHERE IT DUPLICATED THE ROUGH IDLING AND CODE AND THEN THE ENGINE PROCEEDED TO BLOW UP DUE TO A FAULTY TENSIONER THAT CAUSED THE TIMING CHAIN TO SLACKEN AND DESTROY PISTONS AND VALVES. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION THAT COULD HAVE CAUSED A CATASTROPHE HAD IT OCCURRED ON THE HIGHWAY. I ORIGINALLY REPLACED THE FAULTY TENSIONERS UNDER THE GUISE THIS WOULD PREVENT AN OCCURRENCE SUCH AS THIS. LAND ROVER STATES THE TIMING CHAIN SHOULD LAST THE LIFE TIME OF THE VEHICLE AND I AM NOW ON MY THIRD ONE WITH A 2012 VEHICLE THAT HAS ONLY 84000 MILES. THE WORSE PART IS THAT THIS FAULTY DESIGN CAUSED MY ENGINE TO SEIZE. I AM NOW OUT 2 VERY COSTLY REPAIR BILLS AND I HAVE NO GUARANTEE THE NEW TENSIONER AND TIMING CHAIN WILL FUNCTION PROPERLY. I HAVE INVESTIGATED THE PROBLEM AND APPARENTLY THIS IS A SITUATION LANDROVER IS WELL AWARE OF, YET THERE IS NO RECALL. THERE NEEDS TO BE.THE ONLY SOLUTION IS TO REPLACE THE ENGINE, REBUILD IT OR PART THE CAR OUT AS IT IS USELESS ONCE THIS OCCURS.
THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR LATCH DOES NOT LOCK AND IT DOESN'T RESPOND TO THE KEY FOB OR INTERIOR SWITCH. THIS CONDITION STATE DOES NOT CHANGE IF THE VEHICLE IS MOBILE OR STATIONARY.
CAR WAS PERFECTLY FINE, WELL MAINTAINED, THEN JUST STOPPED RUNNING.. TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC, AND SAID ENTIRE ENGINE WAS BLOWN / RUINED.
DRIVING ON THE ROAD, WITH ABSOLUTELY NO WARNING, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST ANY CONTROL OF THE DRIVETRAIN. VEHICLE WAS LEFT COASTING IN TRAFFIC, AND THE ENGINE WOULD REV WITHOUT ANY INFLUENCE ON MOVING THE SUV. THE MECHANIC IDENTIFIED IT AS A KNOWN PROBLEM WHERE THE OUTPUT SHAFT OF THE TRANSMISSION STRIPS THE INPUT SHAFT OF THE TRANSFER CASE DUE TO EXCESSIVE FRETTING CORROSION CAUSED BY INSUFFICIENT LUBRICANT/PROTECTANT APPLIED TO THE SHAFTS AT ASSEMBLY. I ALSO READ ABOUT OTHERS EXPERIENCING THE PROBLEM WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC (RANGE ROVER FORUM POSTS). THIS INITIALLY LEFT ME IN THE MIDDLE OF MOVING TRAFFIC WITH NO WAY TO MOVE OUT OF THE WAY OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC, AS IT HAS LEFT OTHERS THAT HAVE DESCRIBED THE SAME SUDDEN FAILURE ON THE INTERNET. THE ONLY REMEDY OFFERED AT THE DEALERSHIP IS TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION AND ENTIRE TRANSFER CASE AT A COST IN EXCESS OF $13,000.00.
RATTLING NOISE FROM THE TIMING CHAIN. IT IS A VERY WELL KNOWN ISSUE DUE TO THE USE OF SUBSTANDARD TENSIONING RAILS AND GUIDES. FAILURE OF THE TIMING CHA8NS CAUSES CAMSHAFTS AND CRANKSHAFTS TO GO OUT OF SYNCHRONIZATION AND LOSE POWER, OR CAUSE THE PISTON AND VALVES TO SLAM INTO EACH OTHER. LAND ROVER ISSUE A TSB 2015 RECOGNIZING THIS ISSUE TSB LTB00474NAS3. MOREOVER MY VEHICLE'S VIN NUMBER FALLS WITHIN THE AFOREMENTIONED LIST.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
I HAD CONTACTED LAND ROVER BEFORE THE RECALL CONCERNED THAT THE ISSUE WAS THE TAKATA AIRBAG AND THE CONSTANT AMBER MESSAGE. I WAS CONSTANTLY TOLD THERE WAS NO RECALL AND THAT I SHOULD NOT BE CONCERNED. I AM EVEN MORE FRUSTRATED LAND ROVER HAS NOT HAD THE COURTESY TO REACH OUT, APOLOGIZE, AND PROMPTLY FIX THIS ISSUE. FOR THE AMOUNT OF MONEY THAT PEOPLE SPEND ON THESE VEHICLES YOU WOULD EXPECT SOME DECENCY. I AM PUTTING EVERYONE THAT IS A PASSENGER IN MY CAR AT RISK EVERY ONE MORE DAY LAND ROVER TAKES TO RESPOND
TAKATA RECALL. NO REPLACEMENT AIRBAGS ARE NOT AVAILABLE FROM LAND ROVER.

ON THE HIGHWAY, MERRITT 15 IN CT, THE CAR COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN, NO POWER BRAKES, STEERING, NO ABILITY TO SPEED UP. ENGINE SHUT OFF, ALL ELECTRICAL SHUT OFF. LUCKILY I WAS GOING SLOW SINCE MY EXIT WAS COMING UP BUT I LOST ALL ABILITY TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE IN A SAFE WAY AND IF I WAS GOING THE HIGHWAY SPEED IT COULD HAVE ENDED VERY BADLY.
WHEN YOU SHUT THE ENGINE OFF AND PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK THE VEHICLE WILL KEEP ROLLING AND NOT COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. TO PREVENT THIS FROM HAPPENING YOU HAVE TO APPLY THE PARKING BRAKE. YOU MAY BE ON A CITY STREET, GARAGE, PARKING LOT ETC... THE TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REPLACED ON A 2012 VEHICLE WITH 54812 MILES. THIS ORIGINAL ONE OWNER VEHICLE HAS BEEN MAINTAINED BY THE DEALER AND THE DEALER ONLY. NO OUTSIDE MECHANICS HAVE EVER TOUCHED THE VEHICLE. THIS WAS A SAFETY DEFECT THAT NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED BECAUSE FAILURE TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM COULD HAVE CAUSED SERIOUS DAMAGE OR POSSIBLY DEATH IN THE EVENT THE VEHICLE ROLLED A WAY AND HIT SOMETHING OR WORSE HIT SOMEONE. YOU DON'T EVER EXPECT TO HAVE TO REPLACE A TRANSMISSION ON A FOUR YEAR OLD VEHICLE ESPECIALLY TO PREVENT A ROLL A WAY ACCIDENT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 LAND ROVER RANGE ROVER L322. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, IT FAILED TO START WHEN PROMPTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 92,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 LAND ROVER RANGE ROVER. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE BRAKES MALFUNCTIONED AND JAMMED. THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SHOULDER AND WAITED FOR IT TO STOP ON ITS OWN. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE VACUUM PUMP FOR THE BRAKES HAD MALFUNCTIONED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 37,000.
WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT AT HIGHWAY SPEED THE CAR EXPERIENCED AN ELECTRICAL ANOMALY TWICE, EACH TIME CAUSING THE HEADLIGHTS, DASHBOARD LIGHTS AND SEVERAL ELECTRONIC FUNCTIONS TO GO OFF FOR APPROXIMATELY 1 SECOND. HEAD LIGHTS AND DASHBOARD LIGHTS CAME BACK ON BUT SEVERAL ELECTRONIC FUNCTIONS WERE INOPERABLE AS NOTED ON VEHICLE WARNING SCREEN (HILL DESCENT FUNCTION, VEHICLE STABILITY FUNCTION, EMERGENCY BRAKE ASSIST FUNCTION ) ONCE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED AND TURNED OFF THESE FUCTIONS SEEMED TO RESET THEMSELVES. EXTREMELEY DANGEROUS SITUATION AT HIGH SPEED MORNING COMMUTE.
MY LAND ROVER RANGE ROVER AUTOBIOGRAPHY IS BRAND NEW I ORDER 2012, WITH 19,600 MILES, WHILE DRIVING ON HIGTHWAY, I TOTAL LOSE POWER FOR ACCELATION. IT SAY ON DASH BOARD RESTRICTED PERFORMANCE, WITH TRIANGLE YELLOW APPEARED. PER LAND ROVER LAKE BUFF, TECHNICIAN IT FACTORY DEFICT ON MECHANICAL FUEL PUMP, AND NEED TO BE REPLACE, TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 LAND ROVER RANGE ROVER L322. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDES FRONT BRAKE PADS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE KEY FOB FAILED TO LOCK THE HATCH BACK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V039000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 41,000.
MY FIRST INCIDENT I WAS APPROACHING AN INTERSECTION WITH A STOP SIGN. I SLOWED DOWN TO STOP AT THE STOP SIGN AND WHEN I HIT THE BRAKE THE CAR ACCELERATED THROUGH THE INTERSECTION. I COULDN'T STOP OR CONTROL THE CAR AND THANKFULLY AVOIDED WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN A MAJOR ACCIDENT. THE SECOND TIME JUST MINUTES AFTER THIS OCCURRED, IT HAPPEN EXACTLY THE SAME WAY. I SLOWED TO STOP AT A STOP SIGN AND WHEN I HIT THE BRAKE THE CAR ACCELERATED RIGHT THROUGH THE STOP SIGN. AT THIS POINT I WAS ABOUT A MILE FROM HOME AND VERY SLOWLY DROVE A BACK ROAD HOME AND HAVE NOT DRIVEN THE CAR SINCE. *TR
I WAS IN AN ACCIDENT ON 6/29/2013 WITH MY NEW RANGE ROVER SPORT LUXURY MODEL. WE TOOK IT TO LAND ROVER OF GLEN COVE FOR REPAIRS. AFTER 30 DAYS THE CAR WAS NOT REPAIRED AND I WAS TOLD THE 1/4 PANEL WAS ON BACK ORDER UNTIL 8/23/13. APPROX 8/20/13, I WAS TOLD THAT THE PART WAS NOT COMING AND IT WAS PUSHED BACK TO 9/23/13. AFTER FOLLOWING UP EARLIER THIS WEEK, I AM NOW BEING TOLD THAT THE PART IS NOT COMING UNTIL "POSSIBLY" 10/30/13. THEY CLAIM THERE IS NOT ONE SINGLE 1/4 PANEL IN STOCK ANYWHERE IN THE ENTIRE USA, AND IT IS BEING MADE AND SHIPPED FROM THE UK, "HOPEFULLY" IT WILL SHIP ON 10/16/13 FROM THE UK, HAVE TO GO THROUGH CUSTOMS AND BE AVAILABLE BY THE END OF OCTOBER. HARD TO BELIEVE IT WILL EVEN COME THEN AFTER ALL OF THE OTHER FALSE PROMISES, BUT IF IT DOES THE SOONEST I WOULD GET MY CAR BACK IS MID NOVEMBER; 4.5 MONTHS LATER. I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT AUTOMOTIVE MANUFACTURERS ARE NOT REQUIRED TO STOCK PARTS FOR NEW CARS? I FEEL THAT THERE IS NO END IN SIGHT AND EVEN AFTER COMPLAINING TO LAND ROVER CORPORATE, ALL I AM TOLD IS SORRY YOU HAVE TO WAIT NOTHING WE CAN DO. IS THERE NO PROTECTION OR RECOURSE FOR A CONSUMER? *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 RANGE ROVER EVOQUE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE STARTED THE ENGINE AND EXITED THE VEHICLE WHEN THE VEHICLE INDEPENDENTLY ROLLED AWAY AND CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHERE THEY STATED THAT THE GEAR SHIFT MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED BUT PROVIDED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 14,000. UPDATED 4/26/13 *CN THE CONSUMER DISCOVERED IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY, THE TRANSMISSION COULD NOT BE LOCKED UP AS IN THE CASE OF BRAKE FAILURE OR IF THE THROTTLE BY WIRE MALFUNCTIONED. HE ALSO FOUND OUT, DURING HIS LAST VISIT AT THE DEALER, THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE PLACED IN NEUTRAL IF IT WAS BEING TOWED. UPDATED 05/01/13
ON 18/03/2013 5:50 PM, THE CAR LOST POWER & STOPPED SUDDENLY WHEN I WAS DRIVING IN A SHOPPING PLAZA. THANK GOODNESS I'M STILL ALIVE! THE CAR STOPPED IN THE FRONT OF MARSHALLS (SO I HAVE LOTS OF WITNESS). PEOPLES WERE TRYING TO PUSH MY CAR TO PARKING LOT BECAUSE THE CAR BLOCKED THE TRAFFIC BUT WE COULDN'T MOVE THE GEAR TO N. I FINALLY RE-STARTED IT AFTER MORE THAN 10+ TIMES TRYING. THE CAR WAS SENT TO DEALER BY TRUCK. HOWEVER, NO FEEDBACK FROM RANGE ROVER YET (23/03/2013), NO RANGE ROVER MAN CARES THEIR CUSTOMER!!! IT'S OBVIOUSLY A POWER OR ENGINE BIG PROBLEM. THE FIRST TIME I COULDN'T START THE CAR WAS ON 14/03/2013, PUT RANGED ROVER ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE ONLY SENT A JUMP START HELP TO ME. BUT IT'S NOT CAUSED BY THE BATTERY BECAUSE I RESTARTED IT AFTER 10+ TIMES TRYING. WANT TO RETURN THE RANGE ROVER JUNK. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT THE CAR EXPERIENCED AN ELECTRICAL ANOMALY CAUSING THE HEADLIGHTS, DASHBOARD LIGHTS AND SEVERAL ELECTRONIC FUNCTIONS TO GO OFF FOR APPROXIMATELY 1 SECOND.
