Timing Chain: National Consumers reported my vehicle replaced the timing chain in 2018 prior to my ownership. Now it has failed again to the tune of $3K at 88K miles. The Nissan Dealership will only guarantee warranty for 1yr or 12k miles which seems sub par. How can a voluntary recall on the timing chain only be effective up to 2014 when obviously it seems to be a problem with the whole engine design. I will not drop $3k every 3-4 years to replace a part that should last longer than a belt or at the minimum of 120k miles if not the life of the car. I’m asking the National Consumers hotline to open another recall on this lemon. The additional issues are the car not starting, after replacing 2 good batteries within 2 years, an independent mechanic replace a relay between the brake and the ignition and it has worked ever since. Crossing my fingers… Also notable is the rinki-dink hood latch that quivers at high speeds. I often wonder when my hood will fly up into my windshield.
WHILE ON THE 405 FREEWAY I SUDDENLY LOST CAR SPEED. I WAS FLOORING THE GAS BUT THE CAR BARELY MOVED. [] SHAKEN UP AND SCARED. [] SUGGESTED I PUT ON THE CAR HAZARD LIGHTS AND PULL OFF TO THE SHOULDER. I SEARCHED THE INTERNET AND FOUND THAT THE NISSAN JUKE TRANSMISSION MUST HAVE BEEN OVERHEATING SO IT SHUT DOWN. [] WAITED ABOUT 30 MINUTES AND WAS ABLE TO START MY NISSAN JUKE AND DROVE TO []'S PLACE. I ALSO CALLED AAA TO MAKE SURE IT WASN'T A PROBLEM. WENT TO TRANSMISSION SERVICE, ERROR CODES WERE READ P0744(TCC FAULT) AND P0826(MANUAL MOD E SWITCH) PRESENT, INTERNAL TRANSMISSION FAILURE. HAD TRANSMISSION REPLACED. CONTACTED NISSAN AND THEY REFUSE TO REIMBURSE THE FEE. EVERY TWO (2) YEARS ONE OF THE HOSES ON THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM BURSTS DUE TO EXCESSIVE PRESSURE AND SPEWS THE CONTENTS OF THE SYSTEM ALL OVER THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. WHEN THE HOSE BURST, IT CAUSES THE ENGINE TO STUMBLE AND HESITATE AS WELL AS CAUSING SMOKE TO COME FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. WE HAVE HAD THE REPAIRS DONE MULTIPLE TIMES AT THE LOCAL NISSAN DEALER
P4213 JUKE F15 TIMMING CHAIN UPDATE NTB14-030, NISSAN LAUNCHED THIS VOLUNTARY SERVICE CAMPAIGN ON APRIL 25, 2014 ON CERTAIN 2011-2013 NISSAN JUKE VEHICLES TO OFFER CUSTOMERS THE OPPORTUNITY TO REPLACE THE TIMING CHAIN, CHAIN GUIDES, AND CRANK SPROCKET AT NO CHARGE TO THE CUSTOMER FOR PARTS AND LABOR. ON NOVEMBER 26, 2014 I TOOK MY 2012 JUKE TO TEMECULA NISSAN WHERE ON NOVEMBER 26, 2014 WAS TAKEN FOR SAID RECALL, AFTER 2 YEARS OF DRIVING MY CAR A SOFT CLACKING SOUND STARTED TO WHICH ON ONE OF THE OIL CHANGE ROUTINE I ASKED TEMECULA NISSAN SERVICE REPAIR PERSON TO CHECK AND HE DISMISSED IT AS NORMAL NO PROBLEM. FAST FORWARD TO AUGUST 2020, THE CLACKING SOUND IS LOUDER AND MY MOTOR IS NOT RESPONDING WHEN ACCELERATING. I ONCE AGAIN ON SEPTEMBER 3, 2020 TOOK MY CAR TO TEMECULA NISSAN FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TO REVEAL THAT IT IS IN FACT THE TIMING CHAIN WHICH IS CAUSING THE PROBLEMS AND HAS AFFECTED CAMSHAFTS AMONG OTHER THINGS THAT WILL AMOUNT TO A TOTAL OF $1,400.00 JUST TO BE ABLE TO OPEN THE MOTOR AND SEE THE EXTENT OF THE DAMAGE CAUSED BY THE FAULTY TIMING CHAIN, NOT INCLUDE TOTAL REPARATION OF THE PROBLEM. WHEN I BROUGHT UP THE 2014 TIMING CHAIN RECALL, AT FIRST THEY DID NOT HAD ANY RECORD OF RECALLS FOR A TIMING CHAIN ON MY CAR, TO WHAT I CLAIM TO HAVE PROVE OF IT, THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN DISMISSED IT AS AN EXPIRE WARRANTY ISSUE THAT WAS FIXED FOR FREE BUT CURRENTLY OUT OF WARRANTY, I RESPONDED THAT THAT WAS NOT A WARRANTY ISSUE BUT A DEFECTIVE PART RECALL, HE INSISTED THAT REGARDLESS OF BEING A RECALL ISSUE IT WAS ONCE REPAIRED AND THAT WAS IT. NOW I AM LEFT WITH AN AUTO THAT WAS PERHAPS NEVER FIXED AND WITH A LONGSTANDING RECALL PROBLEM THAT PERSIST. THE TIMING CHAIN CAUSES MY CAR TO NOT RESPOND WHEN THE ACCELERATION PEDAL IS PRESSED ON EITHER ON A FREEWAY OR ANY INTERSECTION PUTTING MY SAFETY AND MY FAMILY SAFETY AT RISK.
AIR BAG LIGHT FLASHES ALL THE TIME. CAR HAS ONLY70K MILES. AUTO SHOP SAYS BAGS WON'T WORK. SENSORS IN PASSENGER SEAT BAD. COST $1800 TO REPAIR. NO REPLY AFTER NUMEROUS TRY TO NISSAN 0. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE HEAD DUE TO THE GLASS FALLING HOWEVER MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS NOT REQUIRED. THE CONTACT CALLED FRED HAAS NISSAN (24202 TOMBALL PKWY, TOMBALL, TX 77375) AND INFORMED THEM OF THE FAILURE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY W0ULD NOT SERVICE THE VEHICLE BECAUSE IT WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL AND ALSO WOULD NOT HONOR THE EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER AND WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 47,660.
IM DRIVING HOME FROM WORK AND I STOPPED AT A LIGHT WHILE WAITING THE CAR JERKS AND SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON SO I CHECK OIL WHICH IT DID NEED A OIL CHANGE SO AFTER GETTI H THE OIL CHANGE I NOTICE MY ACCELERATION WAS SLOW AND THE CAR STARTED MAKING LIKE A YOU CAR SOUND SO I TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE GAS AND PRESS AGAIN AND IT STARTED TO PICK UP SPEED OUT STILL SLOWLY

CAR TURN OFF WHILE DRIVING IN LOW SPEED. OR AFTER A TURN NO WARNING LIGHTS OR CHECK ENGINE CODES WHATSOEVER STARTING ON SEP 26 2019. AND KEEP DOING IT AT LEAST TWICE PER DAY
THIS JUKE HAS BEEN GREAT UNTIL NOW A WEEK AGO. IT HAS INTERMITTENTLY FAILED TO START. ALL THINGS CHECK OUT GOOD THAT USUALLY CAUSE THIS. THE BATTERY, ALTERNATOR, STARTER, ETC. WE HAVE HAD IT LEAVE US STRANDED AND THE MECHANIC CANNOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. THERE WAS A SERVICE BULLETIN SENT OUT ABOUT 2011-2013 JUKES SAYING NISSAN KNOWS THIS IS A PROBLEMS. HOWEVER THE DEALERSHIP KNOWS NOTHING ABOUT IT AND LESS THAN HELPFUL. THEY WANT TO CHARGE 160$ TO SEE IF THEY CAN DIAGNOSE IT , BUT IT MUST FAIL IN ORDER FOR THEM TO DIAGNOSE. THE PROBLEM WITH THAT IS THAT IT DOESN'T ALWAYS FAIL. THERE ARE MANY DAYS IT STARTS WITHOUT ISSUE. I UNFORTUNATELY DON'T HAVE AN EXTRA VEHICLE TO HELP GET MY FAMILY AROUND WHILE THEY KEEP IT FOR SEVERAL DAYS. WE BOUGHT THIS CAR USED, AND HAVE HAD NO ISSUES UNTIL NOW. THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS ONLINE ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE. SEEMS NISSAN SHOULD OWN THE FAULT AND THAT DEALERSHIPS SHOULD KNOW HOW TO HELP CUSTOMERS IT DOESN'T ALWAYS FAIL TO START AFTER IT HAS BEEN SITTING. IT COULD HAVE BEEN DRIVEN AND THEN TURNED OFF TO GET GAS, AND THEN WON'T START. OH AND IT ALWAYS STARTS AFTER THE BATTERY HAS BEEN JUMPED OFF. WHAT IS THAT ABOUT SINCE THE BATTERY TEST GOOD. SEEMS ELECTRICAL, OR SOFTWARE UPDATE SOMETHING. PLEASE HELP.IT SEEMS THAT OTHER CUSTOMERS HAVE HAD THE ECM REPROGRAMMED AND THAT HAS SEEM TO HELP RESOLVE THE ISSUE. SOUTHWEST NISSAN IS AWFUL.
WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. I PULLED OFF THE ROAD AND PARKED THE VEHICLE. BEFORE TURNING OFF THE VEHICLE, I HEARD AN ABNORMAL NOISE. MY VEHICLE HAD STARTED TO STRUGGLE WITH LOSING SPEED/POWER WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY DRIVING 55 MPH.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 NISSAN JUKE. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT PULLED OFF THE ROAD AND PARKED THE VEHICLE. BEFORE TURNING OFF THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT HEARD AN ABNORMAL NOISE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESTART. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE TIMING CHAIN FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO WALSER NISSAN WAYZATA (LOCATED AT 15906 WAYZATA BLVD, WAYZATA, MN 55391, (612) 426-6995) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE, TURBO, MULTIPLE FLUIDS, TIMING CHAIN, AND BALANCE SHAFT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 NISSAN JUKE. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, A LOUD POPPING OR TICKING NOISE OCCURRED FROM THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SOUND APPEARED TO COME FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED, THE POPPING OR TICKING NOISE BECAME LOUDER. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BAKE NISSAN (LOCATED AT 19630 NORTHWEST FWY, HOUSTON, TX 77065, (832) 604-3495) TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT THE ORIGIN OF THE NOISE COULD NOT BE LOCATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS LATER TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS REFERRED TO NHTSA. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
MY NISSAN JUKE SHUT OFF WHEN I SLOWED DOWN TO A COMPLETE STOP AFTER GETTING OFF THE HIGHWAY. IT SOUNDS HORRIBLE WHEN I TURN THE CAR ON. LIKE A CLICKING SOUND. ON YOUTUBE I LOOKED UP THE TIMING BELT ISSUES WITH THE NISSAN JUKE AND IT WAS THE EXACT SAME SOUND. BUT THERE WAS ONLY A RECALL ON THE V8 NISSAN JUKE SO I COULDN'T GET IT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP. IT ALSO SLOWS DOWN WHEN I GO UP TO 60 TO 70 MPH.
MY VEHICLE HAD STARTED TO STRUGGLE WITH LOSING SPEED/POWER WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY APPROXIMATELY ONE WEEK AGO. BEGAN TO NOTICE A RATTLING NOISE ALONG WITH OIL LEAKING FROM MY VEHICLE'S ENGINE A FEW DAYS AGO. TOOK IT INTO THE NISSAN SERVICE DEPARTMENT RIGHT WAY. TODAY I WAS INFORMED THAT THE TIMING CHAIN HAD BEEN STRETCHED AND WAS SCRAPING AGAINST MY ENGINE, CREATING A HOLE AND REQUIRING A NEW ENGINE. IF I HAD BEEN ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN MY TIMING CHAIN COMPLETELY FAILED I COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED OR DEAD. NISSAN QUOTES ME AT 9000+ DOLLARS TO REPLACE MY ENGINE. THEY HAD A 'VOLUNTARY SERVICE CAMPAIGN' BACK IN 2014 FOR DEFECTIVE TIMING CHAINS IN 2010 - 2013 NISSAN JUKES. I BOUGHT MY NISSAN FROM AN AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP IN 2014, NEVER RECEIVED ANY NOTICE NOR DID ANY NISSAN SERVICE DEPARTMENT NOTIFY ME OF THE ISSUE WHEN I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE IN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 NISSAN JUKE. WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, THE ODOR OF FUEL WAS PRESENT INSIDE THE CABIN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DAR CARS NISSAN OF ROCKVILLE (15911 INDIANOLA DR, ROCKVILLE, MD) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR WAS FAULTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,000. *TT *TR
MY VEHICLE WAS NOT LISTED UNDER NISSAN RECALL ID 277139 & ID227697 AND SHOULD BE DUE TO I HAVE OBD CODE OF P0087 & P0090 WHICH IS A FIRE HAZARD FUEL LEAK LOW PRESSURE RAIL RACK AND I AM NOT THE ONLY OWNER OF JUKES THAT ARE HAVE THE SAME ISSUE WITH VIN NOT COVERED WHEN THEY SHOULD BE. WHAT IS GOING TO TAKE A LOSS OF LIVES
RECENTLY BOUGHT A CAR AND TOOK IT IN BECAUSE OF A CLICKING NOISE AND THEY TOLD ME THE TIMING CHAIN WAS REPLACED AT 46 K MILES AND NOW AT 106K MILES GOING BAD AGAIN THIS COULD CAUSE MAJOR SAFETY ISSUES AND DEALER IS NOT WILLING TO REPLACE RECALLED ITEM
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 NISSAN JUKE. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE LOST ACCELERATION WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE TIMING CHAIN FAILED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED IN SEPTEMBER OF 2018 BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 NISSAN JUKE. WHILE DRIVING, THE TIMING CHAIN FRACTURED OFF INTO THE ENGINE AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO A DESIGN FLAW. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO KELLY NISSAN OF WOBURN (95 CEDAR ST, WOBURN, MA 01801, (781) 835-3500) TO BE DIAGNOSED. ALSO, A CONSUMER ADVOCATE PLANNED TO INVESTIGATE ON BEHALF OF THE MANUFACTURER TO DETERMINE IF THEY WOULD COVER SOME OF THE REPAIR COST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
I ARRIVED AT AN OUT OF TOWN DESTINATION TO FIND I HAD OIL COVERING THE MOTOR. MECHANIC STATED THERE WAS A 2" GASH IN THE FRONT COVER OF THE TIMING CHAIN, WHICH WAS COMING FROM THE INSIDE OUT. GOOGLE SEARCH REVEALED THERE WAS A PREVIOUS RECALL FOR THE SAME ISSUE BUT WHEN I CONTACTED NISSAN, THEY SAID MY VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED AT A DIFFERENT PLANT AND WAS NOT COVERED UNDER RECALL. MECHANIC FIXED THE VEHICLE AND STATED THE ISSUE WAS DEFINITELY A MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT AND WAS NOT CAUSED BY WEAR OR NEGLIGENCE.
PROBLEMS WITH CONSTANT BATTERY DRAINAGE. EVEN THOUGH THE CAR IS JUST PARKED AND NOTHING ON BATTERY DRAINS RANDOMLY AND OUT OF NOWHERE. I HAVE REPLACED BATTERY 7 TIMES IN THE LAST 2 YEARS. I AM ALWAYS SCARED TO BE STRANDED AND EN UP CALLING AAA TO RESCUE ME. I HAVE CALLED AAA AT LEAST 12 TIMES IN THE LAST 3 YEARS JUST TO GET MY CAR GOING. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR FOR SERVICE AND DIAGNOSIS TO VARIOUS NISSAN DEALERSHIPD TO HAVE CHECKED AND THEY ALWAYS SAY THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT THE SOURCE OF THE PROBLEM IS. THIS IS SO BEYOND FRUSTRATING!!
JUKE HAS DIFFICULTY STARTING SPORADICALLY. ATTEMPTED TO CHANGE ALTERNATOR AND BATTERY HOWEVER IT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. MULTIPLE DEALERSHIPS WERE UNABLE TO LOCATE SOURCE OF THE PROBLEM AS IT WAS HARD TO BE REPLICATED. TOOK CAR TO HAVE BATTERY CHECKED AND THEY STATED THAT THERE APPEARS TO BE SOMETHING DRAINING BATTERY WHEN OFF. CAR HAS LEFT ME STRANDED MULTIPLE TIMES DUE TO NOT BEING ABLE TO START.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 NISSAN JUKE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED AT LOVING NISSAN (1433 S MEDFORD DR., LUFKIN, TX 75901, (936) 634-4488) FOR AN UNKNOWN NHTSA CAMPAIGN, BUT THE REMEDY FAILED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FUEL WARNING INDICATOR REMAINED ILLUMINATED AFTER THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 111,000. **TR CORRECT INFO: THE 2012 JUKE STARTED A TICKING SOUND WHEN RUNNING. HAD THE OIL CHANGED PER 3 MONTH TIME ON JULY 14TH, 0 TICKING FOR ABOUT 3 DAYS THEN TICKING SOUND UNDER THE HOOD AGAIN. SCHEDULED SERVICE APPT FOR 8/31/18. THE SERVICE DEPT SAID NEEDED TIME CHAIN REPLACED. WENT BACK, NOTED TIMING CHAIN REPLACED PER RECALL ON 4/6/15 @MILEAGE 6/05. 8/3/18 MILEAGE 111830- TIMING CHAIN ONLY LASTED 50,779 MILES COUNT. THE PART ONLY LAST 50,779 MILES @ DOCUMENTATION, BUT HAS BEEN TICKING FOR SEVERAL WEEKS. I HAVE SPOKEN AND NIACIN NORTH AMERICA, THEY ONLY WARRANTY FOR 12 MONTHS OR 12,000 MILES ON REPLACED PARTS. THIS JUKE WAS RUNNING FINE BEFORE TIMING CHAIN REPLACED. ALSO, I HAD THE 100,000 MILE WARRANTY. THIS TIMING CHAIN NEEDS TO LAST MORE THAN 50,000 MILES. WE ALSO HAVE RECEIPTS FROM WHERE WE DID HAVE THE OIL CHANGED. THAT WAS ALSO A QUESTION- THE DEALERSHIP SAID MUST HAVE NOT CHANGED OIL- SO THAT'S WHY TIMING CHAIN FAILED SO SOON, I WAS TOLD IF THE TIMING CHAIN SNAPS- THE CARDIAC WHILE DRIVING!! UPDATED 11/8/18*JB
THE FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR ON MY JUKE HAS GONE BAD AND I AM BEING TOLD THAT MY CAR IS NOT PART OF ANY RECALL. SOOOO MANY OTHER JUKES HAVE BEEN ON THE RECALL AND THEY WON'T FIX MY PROBLEM. THEY WON'T IS DIAGNOS THE PROBLEM UNLESS I PAY THEM $140 TO SCAN MY JUKE. MY GAS MILEAGE SUCKS AND I SMELL GAS IN THE CAB OCASSIONALLY. I CONTACTED NISSAN DIRECTLY AND GOT A EMAIL BACK TELLING ME MY CAR IS NOT IN THE RECALL AND I WOULD NEED TO TAKE IT TO NISSAN TO DIAGNOSE WHAT I ALREADY KNOW IS THE PROBLEM. I'M REALLY SURPRISED NISSAN ISN'T MORE CONCERNED WITH THIS. I REMEMBER FIRESTORM AND FORD AND A LOT OF LAWSUITS AND DEATHS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 NISSAN JUKE. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE VIBRATED, THE ENGINE SEIZED, AND THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. PRIORITY NISSAN TYSONS CORNER (8525 LEESBURG PIKE A, VIENNA, VA 22182, (703) 442-8700) DIAGNOSED THAT THE TIMING CHAIN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 104,000.

VEHICLE HAS BEEN IDLING A LITTLE WEIRD FOR A FEW WEEKS AND YESTERDAY MY JUKE HESITATED A LITTLE BEFORE STARTING. AFTER THIS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNED ON AND I GOT 2 CODES BECAUSE OF IT P0090 AND P0087. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND DISCOVERED THAT THESE CODES COME UP FROM A FAULTY FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR WHICH HAS BEEN RECALLED A FEW DIFFERENT TIMES. WHEN I INQUIRED FROM THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP THEY TOLD ME MY CAR HAD NO RECALLS AND I WOULD NEED TO PAY ALMOST $140 FROM THEM JUST TO TELL ME WHAT MIGHT NEED TO BE FIXED. I CAN SMELL GAS WHILE THE CAR IS IDLING IN MY GARAGE AND MY CAR HAS TROUBLES SHIFTING AND STARTING. JUKE IS A 2012 WITH ABOUT 56K MILES ON IT.
I HAVE A 2012 NISSAN JUKE AND ABOUT A MONTH AGO THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR POWER LOCK STARTED TO NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY. AFTER ANOTHER WEEK THE DOOR LOCK COMPLETED QUIT WORKING. THAN ANOTHER WEEK LATER THE DRIVER SIDE REAR DOOR LOCK QUIT WORKING. SO TWO POWER DOOR LOCKS QUIT WORKING IN THE SAME MONTH. NOW THE DOORS WON'T LOCK OR UNLOCK AUTOMATICALLY. THE ALARM STILL SETS ON THE CAR BUT THE DOOR WILL STILL OPEN AND START THE ALARM (REALLY ANNOYING). I AM A LITTLE CONCERNED THAT IF I NEEDED QUICK ACCESS IN OR OUT OF THE CAR I WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO WHICH RISKS MY SAFETY AND WHOEVER IS SITTING BEHIND THE DRIVER. I JUST THINK THIS MUST BE A REALLY CHEAP FAULTY PART IF TWO WENT OUT THE SAME MONTH. AND THE CAR HAS NOT BEEN IN ANY SORT OF ACCIDENTS.
WHEN ATTEMPTING TO START THE VEHICLE, THE BRAKE PEDAL BUILDS UP PRESSURE, STICKS, AND IS NOT ABLE TO BE PRESSED DOWN TO START THE VEHICLE. ALL OF THE LIGHTS WILL TURN ON BUT THE ENGINE WILL NOT START. THE BRAKE LIGHTS WILL NOT SIGNAL AT THAT TIME AS WELL. IN GETTING A JUMP START, THE VEHICLE IS ABLE TO START. AFTER THIS OCCURS, WHILE THE VEHICLE IS STILL RUNNING, WHENEVER THE CAR IS AT A STOP AND THE BRAKE IS PRESSED, IT SHAKES INTERMITTENTLY. THE BATTERY AS WELL AS THE BRAKE SWITCH HAVE BEEN TESTED WITH THE DEALERSHIP AND BOTH ARE IN WORKING ORDER. THE INABILITY TO START THE VEHICLE HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES IN PUBLIC PLACES AND AT THE HOME WHERE THE VEHICLE IS KEPT. THE SHAKING OF THE CAR UPON BRAKING HAPPENS EVERY TIME THE CAR HAS TROUBLE STARTING.
2012 NISSAN JUKE HAS A VERY STRONG GASOLINE ODOR WHENEVER THE CAR IS STARTED. THE ODOR DISSIPATES WHILE ON THE ROAD, BUT IF THE VEHICLE IS PARKED FOR ANY LENGTH OF TIME AND THEN RE-STARTED, THE ODOR RETURNS. THIS BEGAN A FEW MONTHS AGO, BUT WAS VERY INTERMITTENT INITIALLY. NOW IT IS VERY FREQUENT.
THE BACK SEAT, WHICH CAN FOLD DOWN, DOES NOT LATCH TO THE ATTACHMENT, AS DESIGNED. THIS SEAT CAN LUNGE FORWARD, WHICH COULD BE HAZARDOUS TO A PASSENGER OR EVEN THE DRIVER. THIS IS PROBLEMATIC, ESPECIALLY WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION AND THE BRAKES NEED TO BE ENGAGED QUICKLY'THE UNLATCHED SEAT SLAMS FORWARD. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS WHEN I'VE HAD TO ENGAGE THE BRAKES QUICKLY TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT, IT PROPELS FORWARD THE UNLATCHED BACK SEAT.
I HAVE HAD MY ROTORS REPLACED TWICE WITHIN 8-12 MONTHS OF PUTTING NEW BRAKE PADS ON. THE ROTORS ARE AGAIN IN BAD SHAPE 6 MONTHS AFTER PUTTING CERAMIC BRAKES ON 7 MONTHS AGO. MY REAR EXHAUST DISINTEGRATED AND WHEN I TOOK IT IN TO NISSAN FOR A QUOTE THEY INFORMED ME MY CATALYTIC CONVERTER HAD A 50/50 CHANCE OF GOING. MY MECHANIC REPLACED THE EXHAUST SYSTEM FOR SUBSTANTIALLY LESS AND SHOWED ME THE CORRODED FLANGE TO THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND ALSO SAID IT WAS BAD. THERE IS NOW A WHISTLING NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE INSIDE OF THE CAR BY THE WINDSHIELD. I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK IN TO NISSAN TO IDENTIFY THAT ISSUE AND REPLACE THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. THEY COULDN'T "RECREATE" THE WHISTLING NOISE WHICH I'VE CAPTURED ON MY CELL PHONE. AND THEY REFUSED TO REPLACE MY CATALYTIC CONVERTER UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS NOT ON AND THEIR COMPUTER DID NOT FLAG A PROBLEM WITH THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. I HAVE PUT OVER $6,000 IN REPAIRS ABOVE NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. I HAVE NO CONFIDENCE IT WILL EVEN MAKE IT TO 100,000 MILES. A 2012 VEHICLE WITH 58,000 MILES IS A STEP UP FROM A NEW VEHICLE. I AM NOT WILLING TO KEEP MAKING REPAIRS ON A VEHICLE THAT IS FALLING APART PREMATURELY. I ASKED NISSAN FOR COMPENSATION TOWARDS ANOTHER VEHICLE (USED IS FINE) WITH LITTLE TO NO OUT OF POCKET EXPENSE. THEY ONLY CONSIDER A BUY BACK OF A DEFECTIVE VEHICLE AND THAT INVESTIGATION ONLY CONSIDERS REPAIRS DONE AT NISSAN SERVICE CENTERS. THEY WOULD NOT ACCEPT DOCUMENTATION FROM OTHER REPAIR SHOPS. I HAVE ALREADY PUT IN TWO COMPLAINTS WITH NISSAN AND THEY OFFER NO SOLUTIONS. THIS IS AN INORDINATE AMOUNT OF REPAIRS FOR A 2012 NISSAN JUKE I BOUGHT NEW WITH ONLY 58000 MILES ON IT. AND ITS UNACCEPTABLE.
SMALL DROPS OF FUEL UNDER THE VEHICLE WERE SPOTTED AND WHEN THE AC/HEAT IS TURNED ON THERE IS A STRONG SMELL OF FUEL THAT ENTERS THE CABIN. THIS HAPPENS AT INITIAL START UP AFTER SITTING FOR SEVERAL HOURS. THE ODOR HAS BEEN ONGOING FOR ABOUT A YEAR, WHEN I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN TO THE DEALER THEY SAID MY VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALL CAMPAIGN AND TOLD ME SOME TURBO MODELS DO THAT. THE DROPS OF FUEL WAS RECENTLY.
I HAD A GAS/EXHAUST SMELL COMING INTO MY CABIN OF VEHICLE AND FROM MY THE OUTSIDE OF MY VEHICLE. I TOOK TO MY MECHANIC, WHERE HE CONFIRMED THAT THERE WAS A GAS LEAK AND THAT NISSAN HAD RECALLS ON MY TYPE OF VEHICLE FOR THIS REASON. TOLD ME TO TAKE TO NISSAN DEALER FOR RECALL REPAIRS. THERE WERE TWO RECALL ID#: R1201 AND R1418. THE DEALERSHIP SAID MY VIN# DIDN'T HAVE A RECALL, DESPITE THE CONFIRMATION FROM MY MECHANIC THAT THERE WAS A LEAK. I CALLED NATIONAL CONSUMER AFFAIRS DEPT NISSAN NORTH AMERICA, TALKED WITH AKASH #7319300, CASE # 29075850, WHERE I WAS TOLD NOTHING IS WRONG WITH MY VEHICLE AND THAT I SHOULD HAVE IT FIXED AT MY COST. IT DIDN'T HAVE A RECALL, EVEN AFTER EXPLAINING EVERYTHING. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND THERE ARE RECALLS FOR THIS, BUT THEY WILL NOT LOOK OR FIX MY VEHICLE UNDER THE RECALL. IF MY TYPE OF VEHICLE HAS NOT 1 BUT 2 RECALLS ON IT FOR THIS ISSUE, HOW IS IT POSSIBLE THAT MY VEHICLE IS NOT ONE OF THEM? THE RECALL STATES ON THE ATTACHED DOCUMENTS, "IF YOU NOTICE A FUEL SMELL IN THE CABIN OF YOUR VEHICLE, PLEASE BRING YOUR VEHICLE INTO A NISSAN DEALER FOR REPAIRS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE." I DID THIS AND THEY WOULDN'T FIX IT.
MY DAUGHTER PURCHASED A USED 2012 NISSAN JUKE FROM A NISSAN DEALER IN 2014. RECENTLY, SHE HAD A VERY LARGE OIL LEAK. WE HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALER WHO TOLD US THERE WAS A HOLE IN THE TIMING CHAIN COVER AND SOMETHING INSIDE IS RATTLING, BUT THEY CAN'T TELL WHAT IT IS UNTIL THEY OPEN THE CASE WHICH TAKES 6 HOURS. THEY ALSO SAID THEY NEED TO REBUILD THE CAMS AND ALL TOP SEALS IN THE CAMSHAFT AREA. I ASKED WHAT COULD HAVE CAUSE THIS AND WAS TOLD IT LOOKED LIKE FRICTION FROM THE BROKEN PART INSIDE CAUSED THE HOLE IN THE TIMING CHAIN COVER. I WAS TOLD THE CAMS AND SEALS NEEDED TO BE REDONE DUE TO LOSS OF OIL PRESSURE. THE CAR WAS NOT DRIVEN WITH THE OIL LEAK, WE WOULD HAVE NOTICED IN ON THE DRIVEWAY. THE OIL HAD JUST BEEN CHANGED A FEW WEEKS BEFORE. AFTER DOING RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET, I FOUND SEVERAL REPUTABLE SOURCES SAYING THIS MAKE/MODEL/YEAR OF NISSAN JUKE HAS MANY INCIDENTS OF THE TIMING CHAIN STRETCHING AND DAMAGING THE COVER CAUSING OIL LEAKS AND ENGINE DAMAGE - A MANUFACTURER DEFECT. THE COST OF THE JOB IS $2,900. (PLUS RENTAL CAR) IT ALSO APPEARS NISSAN ISN'T ADDRESSING THE ISSUE AS WELL AS IT SHOULD (CONSUMER REPORTS). I'VE CALLED NISSAN USA CUSTOMER SERVICE AND AFTER SPEAKING WITH A REPRESENTATIVE, ASKED TO SPEAK WITH A SUPERVISOR. I WAS TOLD I'D GET A CALL BACK WITHIN 4-8 BUSINESS HOURS. IT'S NOW BEEN DOUBLE THAT TIME AND I HAVEN'T RECEIVED A CALL. IT APPEARS NISSAN KNOWS OF THIS DEFECT AND ISN'T WILLING TO REPAIR IT AFTER IT CAUSES DAMAGE OR AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRES. I FEEL THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2012 NISSAN JUKE. WHILE THE CONTACT'S DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING 45 MPH, SHE CLIPPED A STOPPED VEHICLE ON THE REAR DRIVE SIDE. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT'S DAUGHTER'S VEHICLE ROLLED OVER. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT'S DAUGHTER STATED THAT THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE DAUGHTER SUSTAINED MULTIPLE SKULL FRACTURES AND RIGHT SKULL DAMAGE, WHICH REQUIRED SURGERY TO RELEASE PRESSURE ON THE BRAIN. SHE ALSO HAD DIFFICULTY HEARING AND THE LEFT SIDE OF HER FACE WAS PARALYZED. THE INJURIES TO THE OTHER OCCUPANTS WERE UNKNOWN. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A TOW LOT WHERE IT WAS DEEMED A TOTAL LOSS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC OR DEALER TO DETERMINE THE AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 41,112.
INCREASING ODOR OF FUEL IN THE CABIN. FIRST NOTICED WHEN THE WEATHER BECAME COOL. NO OBVIOUS CAUSE OR ENGINE PERFORMANCE ISSUES NOTED. NO LEAKS NOTED AROUND THE VEHICLE. NISSAN DEALERSHIP QUOTING $450 MINIMUM TO DIAGNOSE AND NEEDS THE CAR FOR 2 DAYS IN ORDER TO FIND THE PROBLEM.
CVT - RAPID LOSS OF POWER (85 TO 50 ALMOST IMMEDIATELY) WHILE ON THE FREEWAY. ALMOST REAR ENDED DUE TO CONTINUED LOSS OF SPEED WHILE TRYING TO GET OFF THE FREEWAY TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. HAD TO SIT ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD FOR MORE THAN 30 MINUTES FOR THE VEHICLE TO COOL DOWN BEFORE I COULD RESUME MY TRIP. SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT ALSO CAME ON.
HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE STARTER. CHANGED OUT BATTERY TWICE WITHIN 3 MONTHS. THE BATTERY IS BEING DRAINED. NOT SURE WHY THIS CAR IS HAVING PROBLEMS. HAD TO CALL AAA FOR HELP 3 TIMES. CANNOT TRUST GOING SOMEWHERE. CAR MAY NOT START ONCE I GET TO MY DESTINATION. HAVE HAD THE CAR LESS THAN 1 YEAR
PURCHASED BRAND NEW IN 2012 AND I HAVE PUT 5 NEW BATTERIES IN THIS CAR, . THE ADVERAGE LIFE SPAN IS 10 MONTHS. I JUST HAD THE CAR SERVICED AT 60K AND WITHIN 1 WEEK THE BATTERY WAS DEAD ( THE DEALER ADMITTED DID NOT TEST THE BATTERY AT THAT SERVICE) PUT NEW BATTERY IN DEAD IN 2 MONTHS. DEALER HAS NOT OFFERED ANY SOLUTION FOR THIS PROBLEM FOR THE PAST 3 YEARS. OTHERS OWNERS HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE AND MODEL AND NO SOLUTION IS EVER OFFERED. SOMETHING IS DRAINING IT. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. YOU JUST DO NOT KNOW WHEN IT WILL DIE. ALWAYS PARKED WHEN THE BATTERY DIES, I GET IT JUMPED AND IT STARTS. ALL THE ELECTRICAL COMES ON BUT THE CAR WILL NOT TURN OVER. I DRIVE THE CAR DAILY FOR LONG DISTANCES SO THE ALTENATOR WILL CHARGE.
I HAD MY NISSAN JUKE AT THE DEALER AT 80,000 MILES TELLING THEM THAT THE RPM'S WERE GOING UP TO ABOUT 5000 BEFORE THE CAR COULD SHIFT FROM 1ST TO 2ND AND THE CAR WOULD RANDOMLY BOG AND HESITATE. DID THIS WEATHER GOING UP HILL OR FLAT DRIVING AFTER THE CAR HAD BEEN DRIVING FOR ABOUT 4 HRS. I DRIVE FOR A LIVING AND DRIVE ABOUT 5 HRS A DAY. THE DEALER TOOK IT IN AND HAD IT OVER 3 WKS AFTER DETERMINIG THAT IS WAS A TRANSMISSION DEFECT. THEY ORDERED ONE AND THE ONE THAT CAME IN AFTER BEING INSTALLED WOULDN'T ALLOW THE CAR TO GO OVER 40MPH. AGAIN DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSION #2 AND IT HASN'T LEFT DEALER. FINALLY GET ANOTHER A MONTH AND A HALF AFTER BRING IT IN AND TELL ME THAT ONLY WARRENTEE LEFT WOULD BE THE REMAINDER OF MY 100,000. (WHICH GAVE ME ABOUT 20,000 MILES TO HOPE DIDN'T HAPPEN AGAIN) AND AT 97,000 JUST 17,000 MILES ON THE 3RD TRANSMISSION INSTALLED IS IT HAPPENING AGAIN. MY LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIP HAS HAD IT THIS TIME FOR A MONTH ALREADY FINALLY DETERMINING IT'S DEFECT IN TRANSMISSION YET AGAIN SO NOW WE WAIT FOR THE OK FROM NISSAN TO REPLACE IT, WHICH I WAS TOLD THEY WERE GIVING THEM A HARD TIME BECAUSE IT WAS TECHNICALLY THE 4TH CVT AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION INSTALLED ON MY JUKE IN LESS THEN A YEAR. THIS IS CRAZY THANK GOODNESS MY LOCAL NISSAN DEALER IS NICE AND I GET A RENTAL BUT STILL MAKING PAYMENTS YET AGAIN ON A VEHICLE I DON'T HAVE DUE TO MANUFACTURE DEFECT. I OWN 7 NISSAN'S AND THIS IS THE LAST ONE THAT I WILL OWN WITH THE CVT TRANSMISSION. I HAVE NO OTHER PROBLEMS WITH ANY OF MY OTHER NISSAN'S
PURCHASED THE 2012 NISSAN JUKE NEW. AT 80,000+/- WHILE DRIVING THE CAR SUDDENLY STARTED LOOSING POWER. THE RPM GAUGE WAS SENDING THE RPM'S OVER 8 EACH TIME THE ACCELERATOR WAS PRESSED. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. CAR WAS TAKEN TO CLOSEST MECHANIC DUE TO THE ISSUE WHEN PLUGGED INTO THE MACHINE TO DETECT THE ISSUE IT READ A CODE INDICATING IT WAS A SENSOR IN THE TRANSMISSION. TOOK AUTO TO NISSAN DEALER NEXT DAY (OVER 50 MILES FROM HOUSE) FOR SERVICE WITH THE ISSUE. DEALER INDICATED THAT THEY COULD NOT OBTAIN THAT CODE AND THE TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS OVER FILLED. CAR CONTINUES TO DO THIS ON A WEEKLY SOMETIMES DAILY BASIS OF LOOSING POWER AND WHEN ACCELERATING NOT ALLOWING THE CAR TO GO FASTER AND CAUSING THE RPM'S GO UP AN PAST 8. SEVERAL VISITS TO THE DEALERSHIP ALL THE WHILE THE DEALERSHIP WAS INDICATING THE TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS TOO FULL OR TOO LOW AND NOT THE SENSOR IN THE TRANSMISSION. IN 2014 VEHICLE WAS BACK AND DEALERSHIP FOR SAME ISSUE AND WAS TOLD TO FIND WHAT WAS WRONG SINCE I HAD BEEN GIVEN ONLY ANSWERS OF LOW OR HIGH TRANSMISSION FLUID. DEALERSHIP CALLED AND INDICATED THAT I NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION AT NOW 128,000 +/- MILES (ALL HIGHWAY DUE TO DISTANCE TO WORK). I HAD STATED THAT I BROUGHT IT IN WHILE THE DRIVE TRAIN WAS STILL COVERED AND NOW THAT I AM PAST THOSE MILES I NEED A TRANSMISSION. DEALER STATED FOR ME TO DRIVE THE CAR IT WAS NOT DANGEROUS AND TO COME IN WHEN IT WAS DOING IT SO THEY COULD PULL A LIVE CODE AND THEN SEND THE TRANSMISSION BACK TO THE MANUFACTURER FOR THEM TO REPLACE THAT IS WAS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT. CAR CONTINUES TO LOOSE POWER (WHEN GOING UP HILL OR DRIVING AGAINST A 10 MILE AN HOUR WIND) PLACING ANY PASSENGERS IN DANGER SINCE THIS WILL OCCUR DRIVING 70 MILES AN HOUR OR SLOWER AT ANY TIME. NISSAN IS AWARE OF THE CVT ISSUE AND NEED TO REPAIR THE ISSUE FOR SAFETY AND NOT REPAIRING AT 80,000 MILES.
THE BATTERY WAS DEAD ON TWO OCCASIONS WITHIN 2 WEEKS. THE FIRST TIME IT WAS PARKED IN MY GARAGE AND IT WAS MORNING. THE SECOND TIME IT WAS PARKED AT WORK. I DROVE THE CAR TO PURCHASE GAS AT LUNCH TIME AND WHEN I TRIED TO START IT TO GO HOME AT 4 PM THE CAR WOULD NOT START. AAA CAME AND BOOSTED THE BATTERY AND TIGHTENED THE CONNECTIONS THE FIRST TIME. THE SECOND TIME AAA JUST TIGHTENED THE CONNECTIONS ON THE BATTERY AND THE CAR STARTED. I JUST PURCHASED THIS CAR SO I DON'T KNOW WHAT PROBLEMS THE PREVIOUS OWNER HAD. WHY WOULD THE CONNECTIONS BE LOOSE. I HAVE NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM BEFORE AND THIS IS MY SIXTH VEHICLE.
STRONG GAS ODOR IN CAR COMING FROM AIR VENTS FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR WAS RE TORQUE UNDER A RECALL. NO VISIBLE LEAK GAS ODOR UNDER THE HOOD ALSO.STRONG ODOR UNDER HOOD. NISSAN WILL NOT COVER THEY SAY THEY ALREADY REPAIRED PART ALONE IS$ 800.00 AND WONT EVEN LOOK AT IT WITH OUT CHARGING ME HAD IT INDEPENDENTLY VERIFIED BYE A QUALIFIED MECHANIC.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 NISSAN JUKE. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, IT FAILED TO START WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DETERMINED. THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED RANDOMLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. UPDATED 04/14/16*LJ THE CONSUMER STATED THERE ARE 3 SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ON SAFECAR.GOV WITH THE JUKE. CONSUMER NEVER RECEIVED A RESPONSE TO THE LETTER. CONSUMER SPOKE WITH JUSTIN IN CONSUMER AFFAIRS, WHO ARRANGED FOR TOM OSBORN TO MEET THE CONSUMER AT WESLEY CHAPEL NISSAN. TOM OSBORN SAID HE MADE MINOR ADJUSTMENTS AND 2 DAYS LATER THE CAR WAS DEAD. CONSUMER WENT BACK TO THE DEALER- COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT BUT BRANDON IN SERVICE SAID HE MADE SOME ADJUSTMENTS. DEALER DOESN'T KNOW WHAT'S WRONG WITH THE CAR. CONSUMER HAS EXTENDED WARRANTY. CONSUMER STATED THERE ARE MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS ON OTHER WEBSITES AS WELL FROM CONSUMERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEMS. UPDATED 6/5/18*JB
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD A LADY WENT THROUGH THE STOP SIGN AND I HIT HER PASSENGER SIDE DOOR GOING ABOUT 20-25 MILES AN HOUR. MY CAR WAS SEEN BY ADJUSTER YESTERDAY AND HE TOTALED IT. IT IS STILL SITTING IN LOT I TOLD HIM I WANTED NISSAN TO COME FIND OUT WHY MY AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY.
THE BATTERY DIES A LOT! CANNOT FIGURE OUT WHY, I HAVE BEEN LEFT STRANDED NUMEROUS TIMES, NOT FUN, SOMETIMES I ONLY LEFT MY CAR FOR HALF HOUR OR SO, I COME BACK AND IT IS DEAD, HAVE TO WAIT FOR AAA OR A FRIEND, THIS HAS BEEN GOING FOR SEVERAL YEARS AND JUST HAPPENED AGAIN TONIGHT
2012 NISSAN JUKE. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE FAILURE TO START PROBLEMS. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE FAILURE HAPPENED OCCASIONALLY. THE ALTERNATOR AND BATTERY WERE DEEMED TO BE GOOD. WHEN THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START, IT INITIALLY MADE AN ELECTRONIC CLICKING NOISES; NOT STARTER MOTOR CLICKING NOISE. THE ENGINE DID NOT TURN AT ALL AND AFTER A COUPLE OF TIMES THE VEHICLE WOULD GO TOTALLY DEAD. UPON BEING JUMP STARTED, THE BATTERY AND ELECTRONICS WERE PERFECTLY FINE. *JB
NOTICED GASOLINE SMELL IN CAR; SMELL GOT PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. FUEL FOUND LEAKING UNDER CAR. CAR TAKEN TO MECHANIC. MECHANIC INVESTIGATED LEAK AND NISSAN JUKE RECALLS. MECHANIC FOUND FUEL LEAK UNDER INTAKE -SEE RECALL 14V683. NISSAN SAYS NOT COVERED BY RECALL. INTAKE REMOVED AND FOUND THE FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR NOT ADEQUATELY TORQUED. TOUCHED WITH WRENCH AN SPEWED FUEL. THEN TURNED OFF BY HAND. MATCHES THE SYMPTOMS OF THE RECALL EXACTLY.
MS. ADAS WAS DRIVING HER JUKE IN THE LEFT LANE WHEN A RV IN THE CENTER LANE TO HER RIGHT ATTEMPTED A U-TURN AND CAUSED HER TO STRIKE THE RV. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED AND SHE SUSTAINED SERIOUS INJURIES BUT THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 NISSAN JUKE. WHILE DRIVING AT 70 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO DEPRESS THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE AS THE VEHICLE LOST POWER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE OR REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION (CVT) NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
MY 2012 NISSAN JUKE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE ABOVE 75 MPH, DESPITE THE GAS PEDAL BEING COMPLETELY PRESSED DOWN ("PEDAL TO THE METAL"). A DISTINCT SMELL OF GASOLINE WAS NOTICED IN THE CABIN. I TOOK MY JUKE TO A MECHANIC, WHO SAID THE PROBLEM WAS FUEL LEAKING THROUGH THE FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR. THOUGH THERE IS CURRENTLY A RECALL CAMPAIGN FOR SOME 2012-2014 NISSAN JUKES (REFERENCE NHTSA 14V683000), MY SPECIFIC VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. I REQUEST THAT THIS RECALL BE INVESTIGATED AND EXPANDED. A FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR IS NOT SOMETHING THAT WOULD BE WITHIN THE EXPECTED REGULAR MAINTENANCE OF ANY VEHICLE, AND IS VERY LIKELY A DEFECT STEMMING FROM MANUFACTURING. COMMUNICATION ATTEMPTS WITH NISSAN NORTH AMERICA HAVE BEEN RATHER DISAPPOINTING. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH MANY OF THE NISSAN JUKE VEHICLES, BUT NISSAN NORTH AMERICA IS NOT WILLING TO PROVIDE ANY REPAIRS FOR MY VEHICLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 NISSAN JUKE. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE FROM A COMPLETE STOP, THERE WAS HESITATION AND THE TRANSMISSION BECAME INOPERABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FLUID NEEDED TO BE CHANGED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 NISSAN JUKE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OPERATING AS DESIGNED. THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED FIVE TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
FRONT HOOD RATTLE AND MAKE NOISE, WHEN I CALL NISSAN, THEY TOLD ME THAT NORMAL. *TR
MY 2012 NISSAN JUKE ALL BEGAN ON WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 25, 2015 WHEN I WAS BEGINNING MY MORNING. I WENT OUT TO START MY CAR, THE SAME WAY I ALWAYS DO BEFORE I LEAVE FOR WORK IN THE MORNINGS. TEN MINUTES LATER WHEN I WALKED OUTSIDE MY CAR WAS NOT RUNNING. I CALLED A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO DOES HOUSE CALLS AND ASKED IF HE COULD COME OVER. HE KNEW ALMOST IMMEDIATELY THAT THE TIMING CHAIN HAD BROKEN. HE CONTINUED TO RUN SOME TESTS AND DIAGNOSTICS AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO COMPRESSION IN THE VALVES. I JUMPED RIGHT ONLINE ONLY TO FIND OUT TO MY HORROR THAT NISSAN HAD ISSUED A SERVICE CAMPAIGN 6+ MONTHS EARLIER AND I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED. I STILL WAS NOT CONCERNED. I CALLED THE NISSAN 800 NUMBER RIGHT AWAY AND THE LADY THAT WORKED WITH ME WAS EXTREMELY HELPFUL. SHE THEN PUT ME IN CONTACT WITH KOCOUREK NISSAN. WHEN I WAS CONNECTED, I EXPLAINED WHAT WAS GOING TO THE SERVICE CENTER. THE FIRST THING [XXX] INFORMED ME OF WAS THAT IF THERE WAS SLUDGE IN MY OIL, IT WOULD VOID MY WARRANTY. THIS MADE ME EXTREMELY NERVOUS. ONCE MY VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO KOCOUREK NISSAN, HE CALLED ME AGAIN STATING THAT HE HAD NOT EVEN HAD A CHANCE TO LOOK AT IT YET, BUT NEEDED TO CHARGE ME $200.00 TO GET IT ON THE PATH TO DIAGNOSTICS. AGAIN [XXX] WAS INSISTENT ON LETTING ME KNOW IF THERE WAS SLUDGE IN THE OIL/OIL PAN IT WOULD MOST LIKELY VOID MY WARRANTY. AGAIN, A FEELING OF PANIC HITS AS I CAN ALREADY SEE WHERE THIS GOING. WHEN [XXX] CALLS ME BACK THAT EVENING HE STATES THAT SURPRISE, THERE IS SLUDGE IN THE OIL/OIL PAN. BUT HE WAS GOING TO GET EVERYTHING OVER TO NISSAN AND ?FIGHT FOR ME?. ON THURSDAY FEBRUARY 26, 2015 [XXX] CALLS ME AGAIN AND STATES THAT THERE IS TOO MUCH SLUDGE, YOUR WARRANTY IS VOID, AND A NEW ENGINE IS ABOUT $5000.00. THERE IS A TIMING CHAIN THAT BROKE WHILE ENGINE WAS RUNNING. THAT WOULD HAVE JUNKED THAT ENGINE. I HAVE THE OIL CHANGED REGULARLY. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 NISSAN JUKE. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE CONTACT WAS UNSURE ABOUT THE PART THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,000. UPDATED 6/4/15*CN THE CONSUMER EXPERIENCED THE FAILURE FIVE TIMES. UPDATED 06/11/15*JB
TL-THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 NISSAN JUKE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS AN ODOR OF FUEL COMING FROM THE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: V14V683000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 46,000. DJR
NOTICED A FUEL / GAS SMELL IN CABIN , ESPECIALLY WHILE CAR WAS STANDING STILL WITH ENGINE RUNNING. *TR
I WAS HIGHWAY DRIVING TODAY AND ALL OF A SUDDEN LOST THE TORQUE AND POWER OF MY CAR. IT JUST COASTED ALONG AND WOULDNT ACCELERATE. I MOVED INTO THE RIGHT LANE AND IT JUST SLOWED ME DOWN ABOUT 10 MPH SLOWER THAN I WAS DRIVING. THIS LASTED FOR ABOUT 15-20 MINS AND THEN IT SLOWLY REGAINED POWER. *TR
WHEN TURNING ON THE AIR CONDITIONING IN THE CAR AFTER ENGINE STARTUP A VERY STRONG SMELL OF GAS ENTERS THE VEHICLE CABIN. THE FUMES ARE VERY STRONG AND UNMISTAKABLE. THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN EVERY TIME BUT HAPPENS OFTEN ENOUGH TO BE A CONCERN. THIS STARTED I WOULD SAY WITHIN THE PAST 4-6 MONTHS, NOT SURE EXACTLY WHEN. DID NOT TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR CONCERN, WAS WAITING FOR AN OIL CHANGE INTERVAL TO COME UP. I TOLD THE DEALERSHIP ABOUT THE ISSUE WHEN I TOOK THE VEHICLE FOR A TIMING CHAIN REPLACEMENT TSB. THE DEALERSHIP (WESTON NISSAN IN DAVIE, FLORIDA) HAS SAID THAT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. GAS SMELL/FUMES ENTERING THE VEHICLE COMPARTMENT IS A SAFETY/HEALTH ISSUE ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU HAVE A CHILD INSIDE. *TR
WHEN ATTEMPTING TO PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS (55-65 MPH), THE CAR CONTINUES TO ACCELERATE VERY QUICKLY AND AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED ON ITS OWN. PRESSED DOWN BRAKE PEDAL AND CAR SLOWED DOWN. TOOK FOOT OFF BRAKE PEDAL AND CAR CONTINUED TO VERY QUICKLY ACCELERATE ON ITS OWN (NO FOOT ON ACCELERATOR). WHILE DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, I HEARD A SOUND, KIND OF LIKE A POPPING OF A SPRING SOUND, THEN THE CAR RESUMED NORMAL FUNCTIONING. THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED, THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS SET, AND I THOUGHT THIS TO BE THE PROBLEM. HOWEVER, THIS OCCURRED AGAIN YESTERDAY, AND THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS NOT SET. *TR
THE TIMING CHAIN HAS GONE BAD AND I HAVE NOTICED THE SAME PROBLEM WITH OTHER JUKES. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL YET? *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 NISSAN JUKE. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN 12V328000 (SEATS) THIRTEEN MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THE DEALER KNEW ABOUT THE RECALL AND DID NOT INFORM THE CONTACT ABOUT THE RECALL PRIOR TO HIM PURCHASING THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND FILED A COMPLAINT AGAINST THE DEALER. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR WHEEL HAD AN IMPROPER CASTING FROM THE FACTORY. THE RIM HAD A FAILURE AT FREEWAY SPEED WITH NO DAMAGE, SIGNS OF IMPACT, OR PUNCTURE TO TIRE. THE TIRE REMAINED ON ITS BEAD WHILE VEHICLE CAME TO A FULL AND COMPLETE STOP. THE RIM FAILED BY HAVING A TWO INCH HOLE BLOWOUT FROM THE INSIDE OF THE RIM CAUSING A SUDDEN LOSS OF PRESSURE TO THE WHEEL. THERE WAS NO CONTACT WITH ANY ROAD DEBRIS OR HAZARDS. THE FLAW WAS IDENTIFIED BY AN EXCESS AMOUNT OF WHEEL WEIGHT, USED IN THE TIRE BALANCING PROCESS, WITHIN 2 INCHES OF FAILURE SIGNIFYING A LACK OF MATERIAL IN THAT AREA OF THE RIM.
WHEN I TURN ON MY AC GAS FUMES COME OUT. A VERY STRONG SMELL OF GAS. IT ONLY LAST A COUPLE OF MINUTES BUT IT HAPPENS AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK. *TR
SAFETY ISSUE. CAR FAILED TO BRAKE CAUSING COLLISION. CAR WAS STOPPED AT YIELD, PROCEEDED TO MOVE FORWARD IN LINE, AND WHEN TRIED TO STOP BRAKE PEDAL DID NOT RESPOND. PEDAL BOTTOMED OUT WITHOUT RESISTANCE, COMPLETELY SOFT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 NISSAN JUKE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE GEARS MALFUNCTIONED. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE REMAINED OFF FOR FIVE MINUTES BEFORE IT WOULD RESTART. THE CONTACT PURCHASED THE VEHICLE A WEEK AGO. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 540.
WHEN TRAVELING IN THE JUKE ESPECIALLY WITH THE WINDOW DOWN A BIT THERE IS A CONSTANT WAVE OF HEAT COMING UP FROM THE FLOOR AREA BEHIND THE CENTER CONSOLE. THE HEAT IS ENOUGH TO MAKE YOUR LEGS SWEAT. UPON FINDING THE SOURCE I BURNT MY FINGER ON A PIPE THAT IS BEHIND THE CONSOLE WITH NOW INSULATION OR WRAPPING. IT MAKES THE JUKE VERY UNCOMFORTABLE TO DRIVE AS IT'S ALWAYS HOT. I ALSO FEEL THERE SHOULD NOT BE EXPOSED PARTS THAT CAN BURN. DEALER SAID THEY CONTACTED NISSAN BUT IT HAS BEEN 3 WEEKS AND NO RESPONSE FROM DEALER OR NISSAN. *TR
