Loss of power/won't Rev over 2500rpms No fault codes displayed on dash Radiator fan goes to max and cuts off consistently every 30sec-45sec Very dangerous situation when pulling out in front of traffic. I've only owned this car for 3 months! I need to get this fixed asap. Also, this problem occurs at random times in all different conditions. It will also "reset" after turning car off and restarting. It has happened to me 7 - 8 times in 3 months!
1 DAY I DROVE THE CAR ALL THE DOOR LOCKES EXCEPT FOR THE REAR LEFT STOPED WORKING AND I GOT STUCK IN THE CAR FOR 30 MINUTES THEN THE DOOR UNLOCKED AND THEN STOPED WORKING CAR DOORS HAVE TO BE OPENS WITH THE KEY HOLE OR FROM INSIDE THE CAR MAJOR DEATH HAZARD.ALL HAPPENED IN ONE DAY IN A PARKING GARAGE
CHARGE INTAKE PIPE FAILED AND EXPERIENCED SEVERE POWER LOSS DURING ACCELERATION ONTO THE INTERSTATE. NO WARNINGS OR CAUTION LIGHTS ILLUMINATED AT THE TIME OF THE POWER LOSS. I CONTINUED DRIVING TO MY SERVICE DEALER (VALENCIA BMW IN VALENCIA, CA). UPON ARRIVAL, I OPENED THE HOOD AND SAW THAT THE CHARGE INTAKE WAS TORN AWAY FROM THE HOUSING. UPON FURTHER REVIEW, THE DEALERSHIP INDICATED THAT THE PART FAILED AND NEEDED BE REPLACED. I HAD THE SERVICE CENTER REPLACE THE PART IN FULL ACCORDANCE WITH BMW FACTORY RECOMMENDATIONS AND PROCEDURES. THE VEHICLE'S ENGINE IS NOT MODIFIED IN ANY WAY.
I LOVED MY BMW UNTIL I REALIZED IT HAS A FAULTY ENGINE. I NOTICED THE DRIVE TRAIN MALFUNCTION LIGHT ONCE WHEN I WENT THROUGH A CAR WASH. I TURNED OFF WHEN I RESTARTED THE CAR. MY CAR WAS UP TO DATE ON ALL OIL CHANGES ETC, I TAKE IT TO BMW SPECIALIST ONLY. I NOTICED A LIGHT TICK SOUND AND REPORTED IT TO BMW AT MY LAST OIL CHANGE. THEY DISREGARDED IT AND SAID THEY DID NOTICE OIL ON THE GASKET. NO CHANGES REQUESTED AT THAT TIME. MY CAR NEVER SHOWED SIGNS OF LEAKING OIL AND THE OIL PRESSURE AT TIMES SHOWED TO BE LOW BUT WOULD ALWAYS RETURN TO NORMAL. I WAS TOLD IT WAS BECAUSE THE HYBRIDS WORK DIFFERENTLY. ON MY WAY HOME ON THE FRONTAGE ROAD OF I35 MY CAR JUST SHUT DOWN AND NEVER RESTARTED. I WAS ABLE TO GUIDE IT INTO A PARKING LOT AND THE ENGINE JUST STOPPED TURNING AND THE DRIVE TRAIN MALFUNCTION LIGHT TURNED ON. I HAD IT TOWED TO A MECHANIC AND THEY BASICALLY SAID THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE ENGINE. A NEW ENGINE COST $18000 AND A USED IS AROUND 13000. THAT DOES NOT INCLUDE LABOR!!! I HAD TO THEN HAVE MY CAR TOWED HOME TO JUST PARK IT. THIS IS THE ONLY CAR I HAVE, I OWE THOUSANDS ON IT AND THE ENGINE COMPLETELY BROKE! AS I'M DOING RESEARCH I SEE MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS WITH THE SAME ISSUES AND SAME RESULT, COMPLETE ENGINE FAILURE!!! THIS NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED! FROM WHAT I GATHER IT IS RELATED TO THE DRIVETRAIN MALFUNCTION LIGHT SENDING A SIGNAL TO THE ENGINE & STOPPING OIL FROM REACHING THE TOP OF THE MOTOR, LEADING TO VANOS COMPLICATIONS AND LEADING TO METAL IN THE ENGINE LEADING TO A COMPLETE DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE. CHEAP ISSUE LEADING TO FAILURE OF THE ENTIRE VEHICLE. I'VE ALSO GATHERED THERE IS A FAULT WITH THE START/STOP THAT CAUSES THIS ISSUE. I AM LEFT WITH NO CAR, I'M A FULL TIME NURSE AND NOW IN DEBT WITH NO WORKING CAR! THIS COULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED HAD A RECALL BEEN DONE A FEW YEARS AGO WITH ALL THE INITIAL COMPLAINTS!! SEVERAL FORUMS INCLUDING ON THIS SITE!!
THE VEHICLE COMES WITH A CONDITION BASED SERVICE SYSTEM, WHICH CURRENTLY GIVES THE OIL CHANGE INTERVAL OF 24 MONTHS, HOWEVER A TSB FROM 2013 STATES THE OIL CHANGE SHOULD BE AT 12 MONTHS. THIS HAS CAUSED MY EXTENDED WARRANTY TO BE INVALIDATED DUE TO NOT FOLLOWING THE PROPER MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE.

THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE DEALER DID NOT OFFER ANY FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE AND OFFERED MINIMAL FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE. THE CONTACT DECLINED THE OFFER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000. VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
MY NAME IS [XXX], AND I TOOK MY BMW TO ONE OF PORTLANDS DEALERSHIPS TO GET MY CAR SERVICES. FIRST TWO DAYS WERE FINE, THEN AFTER THAT MY PASSENGER AND DRIVER AIR BAG LIGHTS WERE CONSTANTLY FLASHING ON MY WARNING NOTIFICATIONS TAB. I REACHED OUT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY WANTED ME TO COME BACK. AFTER I WAS DONE WITH THEM THEY CHARGED ME OVER $700 FOR INSPECTING THE ISSUES AND PROBLEMS REPORTED, THEN QUOTED ME OVER $4,000 WORTH OF AIR BAG REPLACEMENTS. THE DEALERSHIP CLEARED THE CODES BEFORE I LEFT AND DECLINED THEIR OFFER. I SAW ON KELLY BLUE BOOK THAT THERE WERE RECALLS ON THIS MODEL. AT THIS TIME I'M HESITANT TO TRUST THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE LAST TIME I WAS THERE I WAS TOLD I NEEDED A NEW ENGINE, WORTH OVER $26,000. THE CAR IS ALMOST AT 70,000 MILES AND I FIND THAT VERY HARD TO BELIEVE.I ALMOST ASKED THE TECHNICIAN IF HE WOULD BE WILLING TO TAKE A LIE DETECTOR TEST ON MY EXPENSE. I UNDERSTAND THAT DEALERSHIPS TYPICALLY MAKE MORE MONEY IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT THAN SELLING NEW AND USED CARS. I WAS TOLD BY THEM THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON MY CAR, BUT I DO WANT TO MAKE A REPORT. NOT FEELING COMFORTABLE TO DRIVE MY CAR, I HAVE BEEN STORING IT IN THE GARAGE AND ONLY USING IT VERY LIGHTLY. MY ENGINE ISSUES STARTED WITH A SMALL TICKING SOUND. THE DEALERSHIP OF PORTLAND WANTED ME TO REPLACE TENSIONERS AND THE TIMING BELT, BUT THE SOUND WAS COMING FROM THE FUEL INJECTORS, AFTER THAT THEY WANTED ME TO REPLACE MY WHOLE ENGINE.I HAVE BEEN MISLED BY THEM MULTIPLE TIMES. WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR, MY LUCK WASN'T SO GREAT, AFTER TWO WEEKS OF PURCHASING IT A SMALL ROCK ON THE PENETRATED MY WINDOW WHILE I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY. I GOT INSURE TO COVER IT BUT THEY NEEDED A QUOTE FROM THE DEALERSHIP. I GOT 3 DIFFERENT QUOTES, ALL HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS APART FROM $800-+$1,000. THE REASON WHY I AM MAKING THIS REPORT IS REGARDING MY SAFETY AND CONCERNS FOR THESE AIRBAGS, WANTING TO BE ASSURED SAFETY. THE CONTACT AND AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC INSPECTED THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. P ZERO RUN FLAT - SIZE: 255/30R19 PARTIALLY DELAMINATED ON FREEWAY CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE. TIRE WAS AT PROPER PRESSURE AND CONTINUES TO HOLD AIR PRESSURE EVEN THOUGH TREAD HAS SEPARATED FROM TIRE CARCASS. TIRE DELAMINATION CAUSE DAMAGE TO VEHICLE WHEEL WELL LINER AND WIRING HARNESS. ALSO POTENTIAL FOR DAMAGE TO FUEL FILLER SYSTEM AS MANY FUEL SYSTEM COMPONENTS ARE LOCATED IN THE DAMAGED AREA. NEW TIRE IS BEING ORDERED. OLD TIRE IS AVAILABLE IF NEEDED FOR INSPECTION FOR THE NEXT FEW DAYS.

THE ERROR WILL ALSO APPEAR AT RANDOM TIMES WHENEVER I HAVE A PASSENGER. I RAN OBD READING AND IT GAVE THE ERROR CODE "930A1C-ODS-SYSTEM: SEAT OCCUPANCY SENSOR PASSENGER: SENDING SENSOR FAILURE BECAUSE OF WETNESS ,0, ZP." I HAVE NEVER SPILLED LIQUID MATTER ON THE SEATS AND I LIVE IN A DRY DESERT ENVIRONMENT WHERE TEMPERATURES RANGE FROM 80 TO 110 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT. THE BMW DEALERSHIP IN PALM SPRINGS TOLD ME I WILL NEED TO REPLACE THE PASSENGER MAT, BUT MY WARRANTY WILL NOT COVER IT. I WAS QUOTED TO PAY $1600 OUT OF POCKET JUST TO FIX A FAULTY SENSOR MAT THAT IS ESSENTIAL IN PROTECTING A PASSENGER'S LIFE IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT. I AM AFRAID THE AIRBAGS WILL NOT WORK PROPERLY IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT AND THE AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT CAN BE LETHAL TO A CHILD PASSENGER OR AN ELDERLY ADULT. I CAN NOT FIND A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO CAN REPLACE THE PASSENGER MAT, NOR CAN I BUY THE PART ONLINE FOR MY MODEL. IT IS A BIT INJUSTICE FOR ME TO PAY A LARGE AMOUNT OF MONEY TO FIX A DEFECTIVE PART MADE BY BMW AND HAVE NO OTHER CHOICE OTHER THAN TO TAKE IT TO THE BMW DEALERSHIP. JUST TO HAVE THEM INSPECT MY VEHICLE COSTED $175. I HAVE ALSO BEEN MADE AWARE THAT BMW RECALLED 76,565 VEHICLES DUE TO A DEFECT IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT OCCUPANT DETECTION MAT FOR BMW MODELS 2006 325I, 325XI, 330I AND 330XI SEDANS AND 325XI SPORT WAGONS, THE 2007 328I, 328XI, 335I AND 335XI SEDANS AND 328I AND 328XI SPORT WAGONS, THE 2006-7 525I, 525XI, 530I, 530XI AND 550I SEDANS AND 530XI SPORT WAGONS, THE 2006 760I SEDANS, THE 2006-7 750I, 750LI, AND 760LI SEDANS AND THE 2006 X5 SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES. IT SEEMS THESE DEFECTS WERE FOUND IN MY 2013 MODEL AND I WILL LIKE BMW TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE AND FIX IT.
THE DOOR LOCK ACTUATORS HAVE FAILED. THIS MAKES IT SO THAT THE DOORS DO NOT OPEN WHEN YOU ARE INSIDE THE VEHICLE ATTEMPTING TO GET OUT BY PULLING THE DOOR HANDLE. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE NOT ALLOWING ME TO GET OUT OF MY VEHICLE. IF THIS ISSUE IS NOT RESOLVED BY PAYING THE $1500 TO FIX THE ISSUE THE DOORS WILL STOP OPENING COMPLETELY MAKING THIS EVEN MORE OF A SAFETY ISSUE OVER TIME. THIS ISSUE ONLY GETS WORSE AND IS DIRECTLY RELATED TO THE FUNCTIONALITY OF THE CAR. THIS DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR SHOULD BE RECALLED ON ALL VEHICLES BMW MAKES THAT ARE HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE. THIS IS A KNOWN LONG-STANDING ISSUE WITH THESE VEHICLES AND HAS YET TO BE RECALLED EVEN THOUGH IT IS ABSOLUTELY A SAFETY ISSUE. BMW SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO PROFIT OFF OF THEIR POOR SAFETY MANUFACTURING MISTAKES.
DRIVER AND PASSENGER TRAPPED IN CAR AFTER PARKING AT AS GAS PUMP. DOORS WOULD UNLOCK BUT NOT OPEN RESULTING IN THE POTENTIAL OF KILLING ITS PASSENGERS IN A CRASH. THERE IS A VIDEO ON YOUTUBE OF A SIMILAR INCIDENT.
TWO WHEEL RIMS CRACKED, ONLY 38,000 MILES ON VEHICLE. RIMS WON'T WITHSTAND NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS. THEY ARE A SAFETY HAZARD NEVER KNOW WHEN THEY WILL CRACK AND CAUSING LOOSING CONTROL WHILE DRIVING.
WHEN I TRY TO OPEN THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR BY PULLING THE HANDLE IT DOES NOT UNLOCK AUTOMATICALLY. THE ONLY WAY TO EXIT THE VEHICLE IS THROUGH ANOTHER DOOR OR BY USING THE CENTRAL LOCK/UNLOCK BUTTON. MY FEAR IS THAT IN THE CASE OF AN EMERGENCY OR ACCIDENT IF THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IS COMPROMISED I COULD POSSIBLY BE TRAPPED IN THE VEHICLE. I ATTEMPTED TO HAVE THIS REPAIRED AT THE BMW DEALERSHIP BUT THEY CLAIM THAT THE PROBLEM BEING MECHANICAL IS NOT COVERED BY THE WARRANTY. ON THE BMW INTERNET FORUMS THERE ARE MULTIPLE POSTS ACROSS VEHICLE MODELS COMPLAINING OF THE SAME FAULTY "DOOR ACTUATOR" AND BMW'S UNWILLINGNESS TO REPAIR IT FREE OF CHARGE. I WAS QUOTED OVER $950 TO REPLACE THE PART. THIS IS A SERIOUS LIFE SAFETY ISSUE I BELIEVE NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

AS I CALLED, THE BMW FINANCE COMPANY, TOLD ME I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO DO ANYTHING WITH MY VEHICLE UNTIL THE RECALL IS DONE. I CALLED TO THE DEALER, NORTH HOLLYWOOD BMW &A SOUTH BAY DEALER, BUT NEITHER HAVE TAKEN RESPONSIBILITY TO FIX MY VEHICLE'S RECALL. TODAY I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM "AUTO AIRBAG SETTLEMENT" IF I HAVE GOTTEN MY RECALL FIX & I HAVE NOT. WHAT CAN I DO TO FIX THIS PROBLEM?
THIS VEHICLE'S FUEL PUMP HAD AN ISSUE WHICH WOULD CAUSE A STALL, AND IT WAS EVENTUALLY REPLACED BY BMW JUST LIKE A RECALL, BUT THEY MADE SURE TO EMPHASIZE THAT IT WAS A "LIMITED WARRANTY EXTENSION" AND WAS 'NOT' A RECALL. STALLING AND FUEL LEAKS SEEM LIKE A RECALL ISSUE ESPECIALLY WITH RESPECT TO "DEFECTS IN MATERIALS OR WORKMANSHIP" AS STATED IN THE ATTACHED DOCUMENT. I DO NOT KNOW IF THIS IS A NEWER PRODUCTION OF THE SAME DEFECTIVE FUEL PUMP, OR A REVISED VERSION. BUT IF IT'S THE OLD ONE, IT FEELS LIKE THEY'RE JUST TRYING TO PUSH THE ISSUE FURTHER AWAY UNTIL IT'S FORGOTTEN. JUST LIKE THEY ATTEMPTED WITH THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP (HPFP) FOR THE OLDER MODEL 335I (2007-2012). PLEASE STOP THE BMW RECALL-SORRY NOT-RECALLS; IT'S CONFUSING AND IT LEAVES LARGE POPULATIONS OF DEFECTIVE VEHICLES WITH NO ACCOUNTABILITY WHATSOEVER. THANK YOU

THIS COULD HAPPEN IN MOTION AT ANY SPEED (HIGHWAY/CITY) OR WHILE STATIONARY.

WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY GOING TO WORK, AROUND 5:30 IN THE MORNING, THE POWER TRAIN WARNING LIGHT CAME ON THE SCREEN.., WHILE ON SPORT MODE SELECTED I NOTICED THAT MY RPM WAS CLOSE TO 3K DOING 65 MPH., THE VEHICLE SLOWED DOWN TO 45 MILES PER HOUR AND HAD NO POWER.., I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER THE SHOULDER AND TRIED SEVERAL TIMES TO RE-START THE CAR TO NO AVAIL., I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE NEAREST BMW DEALERSHIP, AND THEY DIAGNOSED IT AS A BAD HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP. THEY REPLACED THE PUMP THE SAME DAY, TEST DROVE IT AND EVERYTHING IS BACK TO NORMAL. DRIVE TRAIN MALFUNCTION HAS OCCURRED TWICE IN WHICH THE CARS OUTPUT IS MINIMIZED. WE WERE ON ONE HIGHWAY, CONNECTING WITH ANOTHER AND WENT TO ACCELERATED TO MERGE WITH TRAFFIC AND THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. TOP SPEED WAS 40MPH. THE SECOND TIME WE COULD AT LEAST DO 65MPH. OCCURRED 7/5/16 AND 9/19/16

BMW DID NOT HAVE ANY PARTS AVAILABLE AT THE TIME OF NOTIFICATION AND INDICATED THEY WOULD NOTIFY ME AS SOON AS THEY ARE ABLE TO PERFORM THE RECALL ON MY VEHICLE. I AM CONCERNED FOR MY SAFETY AND I THINK WAITING FOR THE AIRBAG TO BE FIXED SINCE MARCH IS A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME, CONSIDERING THE SERIOUSNESS OF THIS MATTER. I WAS DRIVING DOWN I-5 SOUTH ON JUNE 6 AT ABOUT 6.30 PM WITH 2 OF MY FRIENDS. THERE WAS TRAFFIC ON THE HIGHWAY AND I APPLIED MY BRAKES AFTER SEEING THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME SLOWING DOWN TO A COMPLETE STOP. MY CAR SLOWED DOWN BUT IT WOULD NOT COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. IT KEPT ROLLING. I PRESSED THE BRAKES HARD BUT I COULD FEEL A SQUEALING FEELING IN THE BRAKES AND IT JUST WOULD NOT STOP.IT KEPT ROLLING. I RELEASED PRESSURE ON THE BRAKES FOR A MOMENT AND APPLIED FULL PRESSURE AGAIN BUT STILL IT WOULD NOT STOP. I FELT LIKE SOMETHING WAS LEAKING AS I PRESSED DOWN ON THE BRAKES AND THE THE COMPLETE HOLD AND STOP THAT HAPPENS AFTER THE BRAKES ARE PUSHED TO THE FLOOR DID NOT HAPPEN THIS TIME. I PULLED THE HAND BRAKES BUT BY THAT TIME IT WAS TOO LATE. MY CAR THEN ROLLED ON BUMPED INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME WHICH MADE IT COME TO A STOP. I WOULD LIKE TO ADD THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED PREVIOUSLY IN THE PAST. I HIT A PAVEMENT BY THE RIGHT TO MAKE IT STOP .BMW SEATTLE SAID THAT THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY FAULT EVEN AFTER ME REPEATEDLY TELLING THEM THAT IT DID HAPPEN AND SOMETHING WAS WRONG. THIS ISSUE RESURFACED A FEW WEEKS BACK BUT LUCKILY THERE WAS NO ONE IN FRONT OF ME AND AFTER REPEATEDLY RELEASING THE BRAKES AND PRESSING IT HARD WITH FULL FORCE I MADE IT COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. UNFORTUNATELY THIS TIME I MET WITH AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE. I AM NOW REALLY UNSURE OF DRIVING MY CAR ANYMORE.MOREOVER MY TRUST ON BMW IS COMPROMISED AS THEY TOLD ME THAT THIS ISSUE CANNOT AND DID NOT HAPPEN. WE HAVE HAD SOME SNOW HERE IN NEW YORK THIS PAST WINTER. IT SEEMS AS IF THERE MAY BE A DESIGN FLAW WITH THE WINDSHIELD WIPER. FOR WHATEVER REASON THE WINDSHIELD WIPER ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE POPPED. PER THE DEALER THIS OUTSIDE INFLUENCE VOIDED THE GUARANTEE AS THERE WAS ICE UNDER THE COWL WHERE THE ARM IS CONNECTED TO THE MOTOR. THE PHOTO IN THE ATTACHMENT SHOWS THE AREA IN QUESTION. WHAT GETS ME IS THE "ICE BUILDUP" THAT CAUSED THIS TO HAPPEN MOST LIKELY CAME FROM THE DEFROSTER. THE SNOW MELTS AND DRAINS DOWN INTO THE AREA IN QUESTION. I PLACED THE KEY IN THE IGNITION AND THE DASHBOARD DISPLAY AND I DRIVE SCREEN ACTIVATED, BUT THE HORN DID NOT. NEXT, I PUSHED THE START BUTTON, WITHOUT ENGAGING THE ENGINE, AND ONLY THEN DID THE HORN WORK. I CONTACTED BMW ASSIST FOR TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE AND SPOKE TO A BMW CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE IN COLUMBUS, OH. HE CONFIRMED THAT THE HORN IS OPERATING AS DESIGNED. HE SAID HE WOULD ENTER MY CONCERN INTO THE CUSTOMER FEEDBACK DATABASE. MY CAR STARTED SHAKING VIGOROUSLY, AND A MESSAGE WAS DISPLAYED (DRIVETRAIN MALFUNCTION). *TR
"LIMP MODE" IS A VERY WELL KNOWN ISSUE AFFECTING 2012-2014 BMW 335I MODELS WITH THE M SPORT PACKAGE. AFTER ACCELERATING FROM A STOP TO 60-65 MPH, AND MERGING INTO TRAFFIC, I EXPERIENCED LIMP MODE. THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE, THE RPMS WOULD NOT RISE ABOVE 2500 OR FALL BELOW 2000. THE OIL TEMPERATURE WAS APPROXIMATELY 200 DEGREES. DURING THE SUDDEN LOSS OF ACCELERATION AND POWER, NO MATTER HOW HARD OR FAR I PUSHED THE ACCELERATOR, THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE- THE CAR COMPLETELY LOST ALL POWER AND THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE. AS I WAS COASTING, I TRIED PUMPING THE GAS AND SHIFTING GEARS (SHIFTABLE AUTOMATIC) TO NO AVAIL. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD OR OTHER WARNING MESSAGES DISPLAYED. WHILE TRAFFIC ZOOMED PAST ME, I COASTED FOR A GOOD 30-60 SECONDS GRADUALLY SLOWING TO ABOUT 15 MPH. AFTER ROUGHLY 60 SECONDS, I PUSHED THE ACCELERATOR DOWN AGAIN AND THE CAR BUCKED, LURCHED AND JUMPED AND THE RPMS BEGAN TO RISE. I WAS ABLE TO ACCELERATE NORMALLY AGAIN THOUGH THE TEMPERATURE DID RISE TO ROUGHLY 240. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT IMMEDIATELY TO HAVE THE CAR CHECKED BY MY LOCAL BMW DEALER. THEY REPLACED THE AUX COOLING FAN AND APPLIED A SOFTWARE UPDATE AS IS THE CASE WITH "LIMP MODE". THIS IS THE SAME "FIX" APPLIED TO COUNTLESS OTHER 335I OWNERS WHICH SIMPLY DOESN'T WORK. MY DEALER OPENED A PUMA CASE WITH BMW TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE IS TO REPLACE THE FAN AND APPLY A SOFTWARE UPDATE THE FIRST TIME, REPLACE THE FAN RELAY THE SECOND TIME AND APPLY A SOFTWARE UPDATE THE THIRD TIME. NONE OF THESE WORK!! CHECK F30 POST, BIMMER WORLD AND BIMMER FEST FORUMS. DEALER WAS GREAT, BUT I WANTED THEM I WILL FIGHT FOR A BUYBACK IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN. HAD THIS HAPPENED A FEW SECONDS LATER, WHILE PULLING OUT IN FRONT OF CARS TRAVELING 65+ MPH, I WOULD NOT BE HERE NOW. RECALL THIS PIECE OF CRAP!! WHEN I PUT FOOT ON GAS, THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. I TOOK CAR TO DEALER AND TWO DAYS LATER WAS TOLD THE AUXILIARY POWER SUPPLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, BUT THE REPLACEMENT PART WAS UNAVAILABLE: THERE WERE NO PARTS IN THE COUNTRY NOR COULD THEY TELL ME WHEN THE PART WOULD BE AVAILABLE. TRANSMISSION PROBLEM RESULTING IN VIOLENT SHUDDERING OF THE VEHICLE BODY AND ABRUPT ENGINE STOPS RESULTING IN DANGEROUS DRIVING CONDITIONS. FLUCTUATIONS IN THE TACHOMETER WHEN THE CAR ATTEMPTED TO STOP AND THE CAR WOULD AUTOMATICALLY CHANGE GEARS TO NEUTRAL OR PARK. *TR
AS I WAS APPROACHING THE ON RAMP FOR THE HIGHWAY, I SPED UP IN ORDER TO MERGE INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. I DEPRESSED THE GAS PEDAL COMPLETELY TO THE FLOOR BUT THE CAR PICKED UP EXTREMELY SLOWLY AS IF IT DID NOT HAVE ANY POWER. I ALSO NOTICED AT THE SAME TIME THAT MY ENGINE TEMPERATURE SEEMED TO BE UNUSUALLY LOW FOR A VEHICLE THAT HAD BEEN RUNNING FOR OVER AN HOUR. THERE HAD ALSO BEEN AN EXTREMELY LOUD FAN NOISE THAT WOULD COME ON EVERY 2 MINUTES OR SO. AS A RESULT OF THE LACK OF POWER, I NEARLY CAUSED A COLLISION BETWEEN MYSELF AND THE VEHICLE BEHIND ME BECAUSE THE ONCOMING VEHICLE DID NOT ANTICIPATE SOMEONE MERGING ONTO THE HIGHWAY AT SUCH A SLOW PACE. I CONTINUED TO DRIVE WITHOUT POWER FOR ABOUT 20 MINUTES AS IF THE CAR WAS A NATURALLY ASPIRATED VEHICLE EVEN THOUGH IT WAS CLEARLY TURBO CHARGED BUT THE TURBO NEVER KICKED IN. WHEN I GOT OFF OF THE HIGHWAY AND WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TO RESTART MY VEHICLE, THE CAR STARTED TO RUN AS NORMAL. *TR
I WAS REARENDED, ON THE FREEWAY, ON THE PASSENGER SIDE, BY AN SUV GOING ABOUT 40MPH, I SLAMMED IN TO ANOTHER SUV IN FRONT OF ME. MY VEHICLE IS TOTALED. THE DISPLAY INDICATED THAT THERE WAS AN AIRBAG DEPLOY ERROR. ALSO, THE REASON MY CAR WAS TOTALED WAS BECAUSE ALL OF THE ELECTRICAL WIRES FOR THE COMPUTER SYSTEM ARE BEHIND THE REAR TAIL LIGHT, AND THEY WERE MELTED AFTER IMPACT. THIS IS CONCERNING BECAUSE THIS IS ALSO WHERE THE FUEL TANK IS. LUCKILY, I WALKED AWAY WITH A SORE NECK AND FEW BRUISES, BUT IT IS CONCERNING THAT THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, WHEN THEY WERE CLEARLY SUPPOSE TO. I HAD THE CAR FOR LESS THAN 2 MONTHS PRIOR TO THE ACCIDENT, AND BOUGHT IT BRAND NEW. *TR
AUTO START/STOP FUNCTION HAS MALFUNCTIONED BEFORE WHERE WHEN I TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE, THE CAR DOESN'T START AGAIN. NORMALLY I CAN JUST PRESS THE START BUTTON AND PUT IT IN DRIVE. THIS TIME, HOWEVER, I WENT TO START IT AGAIN AFTER IT HAD AN "AUTO START/STOP MALFUNCTION", AND IT WOULDN'T TURN BACK ON. AN ERROR POPPED UP SAYING "IGNITION MALFUNCTION -- DO NOT TURN ENGINE OFF. CAR WILL NOT START AGAIN." CURRENTLY WAITING TO HEAR BACK FROM THE DEALERSHIP AFTER I HAD TO FLATBED IT. ALSO THE CAR WOULDN'T GO INTO NEUTRAL SO THEY HAD TO DRAG IT ON THE FLATBED. *TR
HEARD NOISE AND THE CAR STARTING SHAKING AND THEN CAR DIED ON ME AND SERVICE ON MIDDLE OF NOWHERE AND I STARTS THE CAR BACK BUT IT GOT STALLED MANY TIMES AND IT WAS SHIFTING THE GEAR TO NEUTRAL IT WAS A BAD EXPERIENCE I COULD HAD AN ACCIDENT BRAND NEW BMW. *TR
